Introducing Baoshan

Baoshan City, located in western Yunnan, formerly known as Yongchang, is home to Tengchong County, home to 97 volcanoes, making it a prime destination for exploring China's volcanic landscapes. It also boasts some of the country's most remarkable geothermal landscapes. Baoshan is also a key stop on the renowned "Southwest Silk Road," marking the final section of the route within China. It was also the site of the main battles of the Western Yunnan Campaign during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and boasts a rich cultural heritage. Furthermore, this western Yunnan border city is home to a diverse population of 23 ethnic minorities, creating a vibrant ethnic scene. It has served as a filming location for numerous film and television productions.

In Baoshan, you can follow the footsteps of the ancient Silk Road caravans along its millennia-old, deeply etched paths. You can also sense the devastation of the Anti-Japanese War in western Yunnan from the time-worn ruts of its wheels. Or, stroll through remote mountain villages where smoke curls from chimneys and experience the idyllic scenery of western Yunnan. Once you set foot on this magical land, Baoshan will not disappoint. "In Tengchong's wetlands, the grass seems to float, thatched roofs adorn the Hui-style houses, Greek-style low walls tread the hillside, and a floating island appears..." This is Jiang Wen's vision of Baoshan and Tengchong. What about you?
