Introducing ChongQing

Chongqing is located in southwestern China, on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. During World War II, Chongqing, previously hidden from the public, rose to prominence as the wartime capital of the Republic of China. In 1997, Chongqing was designated a municipality. Chongqing's traditional urban core areas primarily include Yuzhong District, Jiangbei District, Shapingba District, Jiulongpo District, and Nan'an District.

Chongqing, surrounded by mountains and built on their slopes, is also known as the River City and the Mountain City, where the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers converge. The nightscape of the mountain city is Chongqing's most famous sight. From the numerous observation decks, you can take in the panoramic views of the two rivers and admire the so-called "million-dollar nightscape," a truly unique experience. Chongqing's hot pot is world-renowned, its spicy, fresh, and delicious flavors becoming increasingly appealing. Chongqing is also renowned for its beautiful women, and popular shopping districts like Jiefangbei and Guanyin Bridge are prime spots for spotting them. Therefore, nightscapes, hot pot, and beautiful women are Chongqing's three defining characteristics. Furthermore, it is nicknamed "Chongqing, the Foggy City" and "Vibrant Chongqing."

Best time to travel

Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit Chongqing. However, Chongqing is often foggy from October to April. While summer can be hot, the fog is lighter than in other seasons, making it a great time to enjoy the nightscape. Furthermore, Chongqing's other signature attractions—hot pot and beautiful women—are at their peak in summer. Visiting in winter offers many off-season ticket prices, offering significant discounts. Even if these discounts are not met, exploring indoor exhibition halls, exploring nearby ancient towns, or soaking in hot springs are also enjoyable.

Clothing Index

When visiting Chongqing, the dress code isn't very specific. In spring and autumn, when temperatures are low, you should pack long sleeves for warmth. In summer, wear lightweight, long-sleeved clothing or a shawl, hat, and sunglasses. Take sunscreen to prevent UV burns. Rain shelter is essential, as is mosquito repellent.

Consumer Index

In Chongqing, most attractions are free of charge, with small noodles costing 6-10 yuan per portion, hot pot 40-60 yuan per meal, and budget accommodations 150-200 yuan per day. Therefore, avoiding the Golden Week holiday, excluding transportation costs, a two-day trip in Chongqing for two people should cost around 800-1000 yuan.
