Introducing Ruili

Ruili City is located in southwestern Yunnan Province and belongs to the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture. It is 99 kilometers by land from the prefecture's capital, Mangshi, and 890 kilometers from the provincial capital, Kunming. It is the terminus of National Highway 320, which originates from Shanghai, and the intersection of the Kunming-Ruili Highway and the Stilwell Road. It is connected to Myanmar on the northwest, southwest, and southeast sides by mountains and rivers, with villages nestled between them.

Ruili borders Myanmar on three sides, with a 169.8-kilometer-long border. It is my country's largest trade port with Myanmar, home to two national Class I ports, Ruili and Wanding. Ruili is renowned as a peacock town, with its peacock dance included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists. The Dai people, known for their singing and dancing, say, "Without the peacock dance, life is like living without brown sugar or eating without salt."
