Introducing Shuanglang

On the east coast of Erhai Lake lies a quiet fishing village, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, as peaceful as it was thousands of years ago. Here, people work from sunrise to sunset, their industrious and kindhearted ancestors fishing and rowing boats here, leading a pure and tranquil life. This is Shuanglang. A must-go on the Southern Silk Road, the streets, paved with cobblestones and bluestone slabs, are weathered and clear, a look that's hard to tell whether washed by the sea or by time. Rows of old houses, with low eaves and high stone foundations, exude an ancient charm, quietly yet stubbornly embracing the sea day by day.

Best time to travel

Spring is the best time to visit Shuanglang, but even if you visit outside of spring, the scenery is still beautiful. Dali is also beautiful in March (around April on the Gregorian calendar), with many folk activities like the March Street Festival, and beautiful sights and flowers everywhere.

Clothing Index

The climate in Shuanglang is generally slightly cooler than Kunming, and the winds are particularly strong near the Erhai Lake. Spring clothing can be worn in early March, and summer clothes are already popular in Dali by early May. May to October is the rainy season, so it's recommended to bring rain gear. July and August see a sharp drop in temperature, leading to the local saying "one rain heralds autumn," so it's recommended to bring some autumn clothing. From mid-October to mid-November, autumn clothing is acceptable. After mid-November, it's best to have a winter coat on hand just in case. On sunny days, Shuanglang experiences strong sunlight and UV rays, so a sun hat and sunglasses are recommended.
