Shuanglang is a small fishing village near the water, home to the Bai ethnic group. Specialties like milk fan and plum fruit are sold by local Bai residents at roadside stalls, but you can also buy them at the Shuanglang farmers' market or local shops. During the Opening of the Sea Festival, the farmers' market in the town center also hosts a fish market, where you can buy fresh and dried fish caught from Erhai Lake.
Plum fruit is a local Bai ethnic minority snack. Using a unique process, locals transform papaya, pear slices, and plums into dried fruit, creating a sweet and sour, refreshing snack. Various dried fruits, carved plums, and preserved plums are available in local shops and markets.
Rushan (Rushan) is a cheese enjoyed by the Bai people and other ethnic groups in northwestern Yunnan. Made from cow's milk, it is creamy white and comes in flaky, rolled sheets resembling a folding fan, hence the name. It can be eaten raw, dried, or fried. It is a great dish to go with alcohol. It can also be cooked with Yunnan ham and other ingredients, and chopped into small pieces can be added to the second sweet tea of the three courses of tea.
