Tengchong is a small yet exquisite county town, with its crisscrossing streets and intertwined old houses and new buildings. It is a must-stop on the way from Yunnan to Myanmar, India, and Thailand. The shimmering emerald green of this "polar border town" has evoked countless stories of joy and sorrow, while its volcanic geothermal heat has earned it a global reputation as an "overseas Chinese hometown." It is the final resting place of countless heroes, home to majestic volcanoes, gushing hot springs, and beautiful wetlands. You might never imagine that such a unique and magical place exists on the land of China. This is Tengchong, a beautiful border town in western Yunnan.
Tengchong is a great place to visit year-round. If you visit in mid- to late April, the city is vibrant with lush grass and vibrant birds. Mid-November to early December is the best time to visit Ginkgo Village and see the ginkgo trees.
Tengchong has a low of 10°C and a high of 28°C. With high solar radiation, it's spring-like all year round. Whether spring, summer, autumn, or winter, the weather is warm when the sun comes out and cold when it rains. A sweater is a must-bring; it's useful year-round.
The consumption level in Tengchong is not high, and transportation and meals are not expensive. A typical Chinese meal costs 20-30 yuan, and ordinary accommodation is generally around 200 yuan.
