Tom Cruise's leaping and shuttling between the white walls and black tiles, and his rapid running through the misty corridors, also brought the beautiful scenery of this small town in Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province, to the world along with "Mission Impossible 3".
Looking out over the water town, the whitewashed walls and dark-black roofs, the shadows of boats shimmering on the waves, stained by the mist, resemble a pastel-colored rice paper painting. Walking into the ancient town, the old corridors and sheds, the deep alleys, seem to have entered a long history...
In the evening, the setting sun shines obliquely, the fishermen sing in the evening, the lights are shining, and the aroma of wine is in the air. The whole ancient water town is like a poem and a picture. When people are in it, they feel as if they are in a paradise, and they don’t know whether they are swimming in the painting or the painting is moving in their hearts.
Misty Corridor: The essence of Xitang, with various shops along the way.
West Street: The busiest shopping street in Xitang, with restaurants and specialty shops lined up on both sides of the street.
Tangdong Street: More than 30 bars are gathered on this small street. In addition to the hazy reflections of strings of lanterns, there is also a hazy feeling from night to dawn.
Xitang is at its most beautiful in April and early May, when you can enjoy outings by the water, see the azaleas in full bloom, and breathe the air of spring. In summer (June of the lunar calendar), you can try the local specialty "June crab," only available at this time. Autumn (September to November) is shrouded in mist and rain, reminiscent of the Jiangnan region. After November, Xitang is at its quietest, but it's best not to visit during holidays.
Xitang experiences significant temperature swings between morning and evening in spring and autumn, so pack a coat. July, the hottest month, isn't too scorching, but mosquitoes are common in summer (June-September), so be sure to pack some toilet water. In winter (December-February), dress warmly, including a cotton-padded jacket or down jacket. January is the coldest month, with its humidity and especially chilly nights.
Xitang is not a very expensive place to stay. A typical tourist who stays for one day and one night will spend around 300 yuan. If you go on weekends or holidays, the cost will be between 500-600 yuan.
