Sights in Yubeng

Yubeng has a limited number of scenic spots, but almost every one of them requires a hike. The Divine Waterfall, Xiaonong Base Camp, and the Ice Lake are must-sees for anyone visiting Yubeng.

Sacred Waterfall

Tibetans practice bathing in the Yubeng Waterfall as a spiritual practice to purify their souls. The waterfall's scenery changes with the seasons. In spring and summer, as the ice and snow melt, the waterfall's flow increases, splashing down to the ground. The waterfall is particularly spectacular during the rainy season; at other times, it's just a wisp of water hanging down the mountain, resembling a hada. To the left of the Shenpu Temple lies a Yin-Yang stone cave, which you can enter. If you're afraid to venture inside, you can enter through the Diamond Gate inside the temple.

Laughing Farmer Base Camp

Xiaonong Base Camp, located at 3,900 meters above sea level, is the base camp for climbers climbing Kagebo Peak in the Meili Snow Mountain range. It was built in 1991 by members of a joint Chinese-Japanese mountaineering team. It's also the only way to reach the glacial lake.

Glacial Lake

The Ice Lake is located at an altitude of about 3,800 meters above sea level and is an hour away from the Xiaonong Base Camp. The Ice Lake is a frozen lake, and the clear ice surface reflects the golden mountain in the sunlight, making this ice lake even more sacred.

Lake Shinko

Located at an elevation of approximately 5,360 meters, at the foot of the 6,600-meter-high Goddess Peak, the Shenhu Lake is the site of Tibetan circumambulation every year on August 15th. The lake's waters are considered sacred; washing hands, feet, or gargles in them is prohibited; only drinking is permitted. On the way to the Shenhu Lake from Xiayubeng Village, you pass through pastures. In the summer, the grass is green and the flowers are vibrant, creating a picturesque scene.
