Introducing Zhoushan

The Zhoushan Archipelago, China's only maritime city known for its archipelago, is endowed with an infinitely captivating charm thanks to its unique island scenery. Blue skies, azure seas, lush islands, golden sands, and white waves are the defining themes of Zhoushan. Characterized by the sea, fishing, cities, islands, ports, shipping, and commerce, Zhoushan integrates island scenery, maritime culture, and Buddhist traditions. Its 1,390 islands, like dazzling pearls, are scattered across the vast ocean.

Shenjiamen, Putuo District: It is known as the "Little Shanghai" of Zhoushan and is also a transportation hub to Putuo Mountain, Zhujiajian and Taohua Island. At night, it is very pleasant to eat seafood at the Shenjiamen seafood stalls and admire the night view of the fishing port.

Dinghai District: One of the more developed areas on Zhoushan Island, west of Shenjiamen, with convenient transportation, dining and shopping as one of its biggest advantages.

Best time to travel

Zhoushan's peak tourist season runs from June to October. Taohua Island, Dongji, Putuo Mountain, Zhujiajian, and Shengsi Islands are all popular summer getaways. Enjoy swimming, enjoying the ocean breeze, sea fishing, and sunrise viewing. However, be sure to use sunscreen.

In summer and autumn (June-September), the sea's vast waves roar with breathtaking force, creating a thrilling spectacle. At night, waves shimmer and dazzle the eye. Fishing is prohibited during this season, so seafood is more expensive than usual. For seafood lovers, consider traveling in autumn and winter (October-February), when the shrimp and fish are plump and the variety of seafood is truly dazzling.

Clothing Index

Zhoushan enjoys warm winters and cool summers year-round, with August being the hottest month and January the coldest. Temperatures are slightly lower than those in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Ningbo. Furthermore, during the seasonal transition from late spring (May) to early autumn (October-November), Zhoushan experiences a significant temperature difference between morning and evening, so bring extra clothing to prevent colds. Early June to early July is Zhoushan's plum rain season, and the following month (July and August) is also typhoon season. Visitors visiting Zhoushan during this time should pay close attention to sailing schedules. Midwinter (December-February) is warm and windy, with little ice or snow. However, strong sea breezes meanwhile necessitate careful clothing.
