Your grandchildren or children will love this ride...

By Kayaker318 |

Let's face it....who does not like to ride on a carouse????? We take our grandchildren here every summer. Dear friends' daughters' have worked here as well. Somehow this summer our almost 9yr old grandson maybe outgrowing the thrill....BUT alas, now he can easily catch the BRASS rings which are dispensed as you ride along....

Charming old carousel in Greenport

By dvc73 |

Price is right at $2 per ride. The carved horses ooze vintage charm, fun for kids of all ages. Nicely enclosed by glass, nice fun for small and not so small kids.

A Local Classic

By Karen Z |

We visited the antique carousel while vacationing in nearby Orient, NY. The carousel is beautiful, and has obviously been maintained well. Staff was young, but warm & friendly. Each ride is $2, which seems to be the standard for carousels these days. Would definitely recommend!

This was fun!

By spome03 |

I had not been on a carousel since well forever. Although my kids are grown up, we all took a few rides and greatly enjoyed ourselves during a great afternoon in Greenport.

Childhood revisited

By Terri R |

3 generations in my family all get to ride the same carousel. It started at Gruman where we picnicked every August when young the carousel and the train running thru the woods were favorites, potato sack races, and all the ice cream you could eat was a childhood dream! It's my joy to share these stories with my grandchildren❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fun for all

By Brett H |

took my soon to be wife here for some photo's and the place is very neat and clean, took lots of pictures while I sipped on my coffee watching her on the carousel.

Greenport Landmark

By MadameLPS |

A funny little landmark that you can not miss when visiting Greenport. It is always enjoyed by the kids in the group.

Nostalgic fun

By David A |

Lots of fun -- very nostalgic. Good for kids or adults. Very inexpensive, and the line was not long at all.

JOY!

By littlemisslucy |

Seven times around with my daughter and we didn't get enough. This charming entertainment is a delight in a village that has preserved it's waterfront for all to enjoy.

a great family day for all

By ewerthner |

Going to Greenport long Island is always a pleasure. The children will love the Carousel by the water, and the family will enjoy a leisurely day walking the streets. There are many eating places in town that you will enjoy to make a Carousel trip worth the time

Bring you back to your childhood

By yanksgirl17 |

This a beautiful old carousel that is well taken care of by the town. What can you say, but you feel like a kid!

Adorable and fun!

By Susan M |

Brought me back to my childhood. I saw some kids experiencing what I did as a kid. I picked the prettiest horse like I would have as a kid.

A few years ago with some of my grandchildren

By Marian M |

The children loved it. We go there every time my daughter and family come from Georgia (usually every other summer.) Have also been there with my sister. Have also been there with my two oldest grandchildren many times years ago, (now 25 & 24).. They are too far away to visit anymore (North Dakota & Canada). But they still do remember it and talk about riding it often. It is a great asset to Mitchell Park and gets a lot of use whenever it is open. Especially in the summer and at the Maritime Festival.

Grab a ring!

By Lola0827 |

This is a fun, nostalgic ride in the heart of Greenport. Lucky riders can grab rings as they pass by. If you get the golden ring, you get a free ride.

Greenport Tradition

By Lolly’s Look |

Every trip to Greenport has to have a ride on the Carousel. Its a tradition. Its a fun time for adults and kids. Sit on the outside and try to grab the brass ring for a free ride.

All weather carousel.

By HMR52 |

Any functioning carousel has to get a very good, otherwise you're just a party pooper. This particular antique carousel is housed in a specially built, glass walled pavilion in the middle of Mitchell Park. I wouldn't come to Greenport just for this, but while visiting, it's fun for the kids with you or the kid in you. Smack in the middle of Mitchell Park, you may enter either from the street side or park/marina side. There's a bunch of shopping right across on Main or Front Street, as well as a lot of really good restaurants. We came during the Greenport Maritime festival weekend, which is EXTREMELY kid and dog friendly,so there were plenty of kids and plenty to keep everyone busy. Mitchell Park is alcohol free, but you can get all the beer and food you want a few steps away, across the street at any of the many restaurants and Pubs on Front or Main Street.

Really fun

By love2travel1207 |

The kids had a great time. We bought 15 tickets for $20 since we knew our kids would want to go a few times and it was worth it. You can also pay $2 per ride. If you grab the golden brass ring as you go around the carousel, you get a free ride. 2 of my kids grabbed those and were so excited to get a red ticket for a free ride. They had music at the carousel and the ride operators were very friendly.

Good fun for kids and adults

By Alex K |

This is our fourth time in Greenport and we always visit this well maintained classic carousel with our kids. The tickets are pretty cheap especially if you get the 15 tickets deal. My kids enjoyed it for 2 days in a row. This is a good value attraction.

Trip down memory lane

By Stephanie H |

I have been fortunate enough to have had the pleasure, thanks to my parents, to have been coming to the north fork for almost 30 years. It is a magical place! My parents religiously took our kids to the Carousel. They loved it and have fond memories of my children's excitement when they grabbed the brass ring. This weekend we took our great niece and nephew - (after not being here for years, I was shocked that it was still magical) seeing my great nephews face after he grabbed the brass ring was priceless! The staff here are also fantastic. Not your usual carousel ride!

55 and loved the carousel

By Nora W |

Beautiful carousel in covered pavilion. Finally rode one where u try to grab the brass ring for a free ride. GOT IT!! Gave certificate to a young woman & her daughter. One ride was all I needed...now I can cross the brass ring off my bucket list!

Good Old Days

By Dianne B |

Love this carousel, every visit to Greenport, which is a beautiful little town, my grandchildren have to ride it several times. Well maintained a, true antique carousel.
It is located in a glass windowed building, so it can be ridden in all weather.

So much fun!

By Lina K |

Our kids loved riding the carousel. It is affordable, the lines are short and the carousel itself is well preserved.

Young or Old always a fun thing to do

By Madison1313 |

I won he brass ring you can go around again in the heart of the great old town of Greenport Long Island

Never too old to ride this vintage carousel

By dee c |

Actual horses that go up and down and a fairly long ride. After letting the little children ride first, we adults took a spin and caught the brass ring ( we did give the free ticket to a child). Reminded us of days of old. Enclosed so we could even ride in the rain.

Old world charm

By Tiffany T |

This is a blast from the past! It is an old fashioned ride. Doesn't matter the age, it's a must! It is enclosed so it can be done on a really hot or rainy day! So worth it!

Great little town...

By Jundullah |

Great little place... Took our 1 year old. We enjoyed a lot. The ride was really nice. Small little town with lots of friendly people. Parking gets a bit tough depending on the time of the day. The ocean view next to the carousel is nice. Some kids were skate boarding in the deck, which was cool. Lots of farms on the way there.
The carousel rides were $2/pp cash. Under 3 was free. Don't miss it. Go. Saturday was open till 9pm.

great for young kids

By johnnowaski |

My kids used to go to the carousel when were young and it was located in Grumans picknic area in the early 70s and now that they have kids of their own they bring them there all the time

Centerpiece

By Iratdog |

This little gem is the centerpiece of the public grassy mall by the bay in Greenport. I tried to locate the origin of this Carousel but it's not posted. This is something every kid should experience. Hopefully more than once. As reported it's not expensive and it's going to make any kids smile.

Beautiful Carousel

By shellierock |

You can't come to Greenport without visiting the carousel. You can't miss it and it's just beautiful!

Grat fun for little kids and old farts

By captfaustf |

If you happen to be in Greenport, you cant miss a few rides on the carousel. For $2 you can't beat it. Even if you don't have children, a $2 ride on a carousel shouldn't be missed. You might even get the brass ring.......

Grabbed a Golden Ring

By EmptyNest2018 |

SO much for to take an old fashion Carousel ride - even for an adult - never too old to try and grab for the golden ring - a two dollar ride brings back lots of memories - and fun seeing all the smiles on the little kids.

A must-do while in Greenport!

By Diane W |

We went to the Greenport Maritime festival back in September... the kids love this every time we visit. The line moves quick, convenient location in the middle of the green! So much fun for every one !

A classic to build memories with the family

By Riosmusic |

We have been coming to Greenport for years for this sole attraction. Ties the whole town together and is great for young and old.

Cute

By Autumn M |

This carousel is right on the water. It is super cute for the kids. Great for the adults to take pictures.

A bit of nostalgia.

By Jorge |

It was a nice time to sit on the carousel and think about how many people have sat in the same sleigh and enjoy the ride. Must be thousands and thousands. A treat for all ages.

Children will love it! Even Tweens

By Cardine09 |

No trip to Greenport is complete for my 11 year old, without a ride on the Carousel. It's a beautifully restored carousel that she and her cousins adore. We used to have one in Little Rock when I was a child, so glad they have one here. If you have children, don't miss it!

Fun for kids of all ages

By BuckeyeChef |

This is a local gem. Ride the antique carousel while overlooking the Peconic Bay. Inexpensive entertainment-with kids and grown ups.

Old style carousel

By Christine D |

A very lovely, glass enclosed, old style carousel, with the beauty of being ocean front right along the main area filled with plenty of shops and restaurants. The carousel itself is in a beautiful Glass Enclosed structure, with pretty lights at night

Grab the Brass ring

By Lolly’s Look |

The antique carousel is a Greenport tradition. We have been enjoying it since the kids were young. You can grab the brass ring for a free ride.

Round and Round

By V. H |

This carousel is a glory. Greenport's Mitchell Park is a mellow, lovely seaside destination. I ride the thing, even though I'm on Social Security. If I had grandchildren, they would get a kick out of Grandpa's ridiculousness.

Ride and grab a ring!

By Jersey Girl |

Spent a delightful hour sipping coffee and watching the kids experience the joy of riding on this historic carousel., it’s especially nice that riders seated on the outermost horses can attempt to grab a ring, a feature most old carousels have lost.

Grab the brass ring and get a free ride..... remember?????

By differentname |

So much fun.... Here is a place to catch up and regain a little bit of lost time.... The North Fork is changing.... but it remains in the hearts of so many....

Fun!!

By PG A |

never too crowded and decent length of ride. Trying to pull out a gold ring adds to the fun. All ages allowed.

antique carousel in Greenport Long Island

By susan1380 |

Beautiful scenery would recommend area for people traveling with children.
Nothing like a beautiful carousel to end a perfect day, always fun.

Carousel needs love and attention.

By Deb K |

We had heard about this carousel from several people so we decided to check it out. It is housed in a glass enclosure on the dock, which should have been beautiful and romantic. It wasn't!

The horses were old, dirty and in need of attention. The staff was kind. The cost was $2.00 per person and you do have to buy two tickets to ride with a child. Children under four must ride with an adult.

We rode because, once the kids saw it they wanted it, but had I seen it first. I would have passed. I love carousels but this one was more sad than happy. Pass, if you can.

Classic!

By opjp |

This old carousel located on the waterfront in Greenport is a real gem! kids loved it and for $2 the ride lasted quite a long time. The surrounding park/waterfront is a really nice place to hang out

Kids loved it. Great views!

By angela p |

cute spot for a carousel, it's indoors and surrounded by glass. Beautiful. Plus walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc.

Fun for adults too!

By TravellingChick1111 |

Was a perfect end to my date. Holding hands on the carousel overlooking the harbor with beautiful sunset.

went many times when kids were young!

By waayback |

went many times when kids were young. Always a lot of fun as they tried to grab the gold ring. Take your kids!

Great old Carousel

By Nancy A |

Great ride for young and old. Been a long time since I've seen an authentic carousel and it is definitely worth the trip.

Two couples celebrating a 60th birthday

By Fran M |

We were like kids going to the Carousel. It was so nice walking up to it. Its enclosed. It was $2 a person. We truly laughed and had fun feeling young again.
My only issue is the two people working it are both older with no personalities at all. This is suppose to be fun for everyone and i felt they were just doing their job. There was also a boy who put the rings out to grab and we had fun reaching for them. It was all and all a very nice and fun thing to do.

DAY AT THE WINERIES

By PATRICIA F |

I love Carousels and this one is great Very old and fun to ride the old horses The reconstruction is wonderful Every time we go to Greenport we make sure to ride the carousel

Fun, fairly priced vintage fun!

By Morgan |

Really enjoyed taking our little one on the carousel in town. It's so charming to experience a vintage carousel that is kept up well! Right on the water downtown, in the park, with great views.

classic

By sjmac456 |

This ride was great for kids to experience a piece of history. It was $2/kid and lasted a long time, so it was well worth the money. My daughter loved it. I would have given this attraction 5 stars, but a few of the times that we stopped by they had "run out" of rings, which basically just meant that they did not have the staff to operate the ring arm, which was disappointing to the kids and turned the ride from an old-fashioned classic to a regular carousel. I also give 4 stars instead of 5 because when the carousel is crowded it is a little bit chaotic and the line lacks organization.

Great attraction as you enter town

By XSki007 |

This is a very nice way to enter the town for first time visitors. You immediately have a focus of where you want to stop,

Attraction

By C3768NJlaurap |

Antique Carousel is good for all ages to take a look at or take a ride on. No one should be disappointed. Fun for all. You can watch and spectate from the sidelines. It is affordable and doesn't break the bank.

Not Open But Always Fun

By The Five Road Trippers 🚙🎡🎢🧳 |

The Antique Carousel is in the heart of Greenport on the water. Due to COVID-19, it is currently closed. It's an old school carousel with the ring dispenser. Get the ring for a free ride!

Fun to watch the kids having fun

By Gloria1201 |

A traditional carousel with calliope music in a pretty setting by the water. The kids can reach for the brass ring and some of them are really good at it!

Good entertainment for the little ones

By Rich M |

This carousel is located in greenport overlooking the marina. The carousel itself is clean, roomy, and does not seem to suffer from long lines often. My kids have enjoyed it for many years.

Kids' Memories Are Made of This

By Christine L |

The carousel alone merits a trip to Greenport. Situated facing Greenport Harbor with its luxury yachts as well as the Greenport/Shelter Island ferry and behind a luxurious lawn, this is every kid's dream. Next to it are benches for viewing cool-mist sprayers and the people who need a break from the sun (in the summer) or (in the winter) an ice skating rink. Behind the carousel is a vast expanse of lawn designed for picnicking (bring your own chairs) or, on Monday nights during part of the summer season, reggae, Country, Latin and Jazz bands play on the bandstand. (Dancing encouraged!) This may be a one-of-a-kind attraction: beautiful carousel overlooking a body of water. Check for dates when carousel is in operation.

Old time carousel

By PaulyJ201 |

Fun for family. They have rings to grab and the whole ambiance takes you back: the carousel is in Mitchell Park which is now the central area of Greenport with a small outdoor arena...

A festive touch right on the waterfront, great fun for kids even in the heat

By LisandroVoyager |

Despite the near record heat, there were kids enjoying rides on the carousel, and all people around enjoyed the carnival music that it plays. It's enclosed in a shelter so we escaped the intense sun inside.

You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this!

By Lisa S |

It's magnificent if you like Antique Carousels. This is as nice as the one we
Experienced in Southern France.
Really
Special in this lovely all American town
With many very fine wine bars and a nice bakery. All American feel to this Historic Landmark
Which is still affordable. Many young families live here. Lots of action during the summer. Safe for children.

Nostalgia - old school fun

By CAndieoh |

A throw back to my childhood on LI In NY. The carousel was a favorite as a child and doesn’t disappoint. Grab for the ring and have a blast. A real old school fun time for all.

Such a throwback!

By Wavedancer1 |

You must do this a catch the brass ring. Great memories for your kids. Or even grown ups, wonderful in the summer to be out in the boat and see it from the water.

Felt like a kid again.

By StephanieD121 |

What’s not to like? Haven’t been on one in probably 25 years. Went with my husband and now have a nice memory from our mini get-away to Greenport.

A Must-Do if in Greenport

By LECassidy |

Decided to spend the weekend with my husband and 2 year old daughter this summer and we loved it! We enjoyed walking around the town and popping in to the various shops. The Antique Carousel was high on our list to visit as our daughter loves riding on carousels. Very reasonably priced, and the line moves quickly. It overlooks the water and at night the carousel is lit up. Definitely a must see if you are in the area!

Wonderful Antique Carrousel

By Gioiadipaolo |

This Town of Greenport has so much to offer! Ride the beautiful Antique Carrousel year round. Cost: $2! Overlooking the active waterfront harbor, its a delightful experience!

Lovely ride run by very nice people

By ArleneMaria |

Was in Greenport on one of the hottest days of the summer with my sister who was visiting from Upstate NY. We took a ride on the Merry Go Round and had a delightful time. It was quite a long ride and I had a bunch of questions which the delightful young man who was running it was only too happy to answer. If you are visiting Greenport make sure you take a ride and relive your childhood. Very reasonable as well, only $2

Really should be better

By FinsterLongIsland |

OK...So, I know it's just a $2 carousel ride, but it should be better.
Greenport is one of the quaintest, cutest, up-scale villages on Long Island...and really all of New York. A beautiful water-front community with great restaurants, shopping, vineyards, etc. Right in the center is this modern, gorgeous, circular glass building that houses the Carousel.
....Then you go inside..and the disappointment sets in.
A very old, average-looking, kinda plain, boring carousel sits inside. 2 bucks to ride...fine.
The staff is pathetic. The young man in the center of the carousel was sitting back in an old office chair eating his lunch with his feet up on some make-shift desk. 2 staffers had crappy t-shirt uniforms on...the others, including the young man who was licking lunch off his fingers were dressed in what appeared to be the clothes they had on when they rolled out of bed. Everyone, of course, was glued to their phones.
My kids waited for 2 rides to be completed, so that they could ride the outside horse to grab the rings from the shoot. Oh wait...there are only 6 or 7 rings....better not miss it....C'mon Carousel owners/operators, get like 1,000 rings...it's cheap and it's fun.
I guess I expected a little more. A nicer carousel....staff that actually gave a hoot....cute uniforms....a few more rings...
A little effort would go a long way for this attraction in one of the most beautiful towns in New York.
Please try harder Carousel people!

Go for the brass ring, you’ll then years old again!

By Barbara R |

What’s not to like. It’s a carousel on the water. The kids are giddy and so are the adults. Enjoy yourself.

Great for kids

By George A |

Young children will love this carousel. Centrally located in the town of Greenport.Like the old days.

Affordable fun in Greenport

By c0ffeebabe |

The small kids in our group loved riding the carousel so much that they got the bigger kids to join in the fun. They kept getting free rides by grabbing the ring off its housing. Can be cute for adults, too!

Antique fun

By Agata B |

Loved the carousel in Greenport, and more importantly, so did my 1 year old! The horses are adorably antique, the wood crinkles and squeaks. It’s so charming and fun, and a good activity for $2

Love it

By kgribbin |

We ride it every time we are out in greenport. It's right by the water which gives you really nice views while riding. Also trying to get the brass ring is fun.

Be a Kid Again.

By ajkartists |

Visiting this carousel is a must for all visitors. It affords a bit of much appreciated nostalgia. Thank you to the community of Greenport. Perhaps those running the carousel are probably not paid well, and the job itself becomes just another job as evidenced by little enthusiasm or smiles on behalf of the workers.
I say that because the employees seemed bored and not happy. Remember those who visit may be locals or first time visitors. Maintaining a level of genuine enthusiasm is not easy, but it is part of dealing with the public in these kinds of venues. Nonetheless, please take time to be a kid again. See the carousel. Better yet, take a ride.
Best,
-WK

You would be surprised.

By gingerann_11 |

I have titled this review "you would be surprised" based on my own amazement. Kids who you would think are too old or too jaded or too high tech just love this ancient machine! Don't forget to grab the rings, and yes, there is still a gold one that will get you a free ride! Have Fun!

Fun, old fashioned carousell

By Arlene M |

What a perfect time on a large, roomy, fun, old fashioned carousel. And it wasn't a two second ride either, it went round and round for at least 8 minutes all for only $2. I had some questions and the young man I spoke to was so friendly, knowledgeable and could not have been nicer.

The carousel is always a must do in Greenport

By Sweet lady 5 |

As a couple or with family including adult and younger grandchildren we just love riding the carousel !

Memories of long ago

By Joanne C |

I bought the tickets and made my kids and their boyfriend and girlfriend go on the ride with me. We all had a great time, it brought back memories for all of us. Have fun trying to reach for the brass ring. Love the carousel music.

Rare Antique Wooden Carousel

By emilymaehood |

In Mitchell Park you will find an exquisite Carousel that was built 100 years ago in North Tonawanda, NY at the Herschell Carrousel Factory. If you’re a carousel enthusiast like our family, you’ll be interested to know that 22 of the 36 horses are hand-carved wood. This carousel is open year round, but only on the weekends in the off-season. The carousel is protected from the elements in a stunning house with giant glass doors that open or close depending on the season and weather. Rides are $2 each. Riders who sit on the outside row can “joust” for the gold ring to win a free ride.

Fun for all!

By Ashish |

Had lots of fun at the carousel-- and we were a party of 5 adults! It's conveniently enclosed, so the rain didn't stop us, and was surprisingly fun. Def worth a quick stop if you're in the area.

Mitchell Park

By Boiler Control E |

It's a great tribute to dedication to Mr. Owen. It is also a great memory to the Harry and Mrs. Mitchell. Mitchell's restaurant was an institution of a generation. Failies would meet for dinner Friday nights as the dads would get off the long train ride during world war II, when there were few cars.

A must !

By Sead0g |

Well maintained - it was daughters first ride - she fell in love! A definite must in greenport ....not expensive either

Very nice

By DennisBeatleboy |

Take the kids here,,,,Wonderful place and nice atmosphere. Well worth the trip, Kids will love the ride and area

Old Time Carousel with Water Views

By PAM_from_LINY |

This beautiful, restored carousel is right along the water, with a glass enclosure so you can see the water when on the carousel and if you're outside, see everyone having fun inside. The design was as a result of a contest and is simple and elegant. I love riding with friends, and being around both adults and kids laughing and having a good time.

Always very good.

By Patrick S |

Great attraction for Greenport. Everyone walks by. Always a bunch of kids enjoying.
Nicely lighted for the evening and the surrounding park with the marina makes for an enjoyable place to sit and people watch.

Such fun, great memories!

By LongIslandGirl |

My friend and I decided to try the carousel ( despite our ages) . It was a blast, we had lots of fun. It is fully enclosed in a glass building to proect it, which is a great idea

Love Greenport Village

By 974paulette |

Greenport reminds you of a quaint fishing village - bustling harbor area, small shops, very walk-able. The carousel is a centerpiece of the village, very festive. Ferry to Shelter Island, nice restaurants, wineries close by. One of the best parts of Long Island's North Fork.

Super Fun, worth the 4$! Go for it, for sure!

By DCSSP |

Our whole family took a quck trip around, FOUR TIMES. Definitely give it a try! The conductor was a nice gent and we grabbed all of the rings!

Wonderful trip to the past

By 7Lisal |

This is a restored vintage 1920s carousel in the Glass Carousel Pavilion, which was donated by the Northrop-Grumman Corporation in 1995 and is located in Mitchell Park on the Front St waterfront in Greenport NY. This carousel is so charming and a perfect outing for couples or young families, The kids will love to ride this beautiful carousel with it tinkling music. At about $2 a ride I think it is still a bargain. I believe the cost of a ticket goes to the upkeep of this lovely bit of yesteryear. You can then stroll along the waterfront and enjoy the ocean breeze and a peek at the occasional tall ship. A nice way to spend a summer day.

Educational? Yes!

By Brian D |

Okay first of all I love carousels. If you left carousels you may think of one that's bigger or fancier. And it's first that was my reaction. This is nice because it's enclosed so you can go in all weathers even when there's that mist and drizzle that comes in off the bay.
But that's not what makes this one so awesome. It's not that it's an antique that's in perfect condition although that's a bonus too. What I like the best about this is it's one of the very rare carousels that still has a brass ring. I love a carousel with the brass ring and that's the reason I give this a five. All children should be giving a Ride On a Carousel at the brass ring so their parents or favorite uncle can explain to them the significance of the brass ring. This is a lesson and analogy that will serve them through life but they will not forget. If you're in Greenport go out of your way to take the kids for a Carousel Ride and then you'll have plenty of time to walk around or take them somewhere where you can explain about the brass ring and they'll never even know you're teaching them A Life Lesson.

Fun, nostalgic

By cwygand |

The ride is $2 a pop and you can try and get a free ride by collecting the gold rings. Reminds me of the carousel I went on as a kid.

Big Carousel

By Keesar |

The carousel is located in downtown Greenport along the water. Great views from the carousel. You see boats, the Shelter Island Ferry, and nearby shops. The carousel looks like a glass contemporary structure. Well worth a visit when downtown.

Inexpensive way to amuse the grandkids!!

By Marilyn R |

Whenever my grandkids come visit from Ct. this is a MUST on Sat. and Sun. am, plus running around in the grass in Mitchell Park!

Fun for All!

By Sunflower53092 |

Nice treat for the kids and adults alike. Not the most beautiful wooden horses but the kids don't mind.

fantastic antique carousel

By Fritzl |

This is one of the few carousels that still offers the chance to. grab a brass ring as your horse passes. Both adults and children compete. Reasonably prices and open all day in summer

Nice ride for kids

By Salvador H |

Not too many attractions in Greenport for kids, and this one is by far a must if you are visiting with kids. Nice ride.

Old time fun!

By foodie50Ny |

Great carousel that will keep the kids smiling. Still has a gold ring to reach for, to win a free ride! Super reasonable entertainment for children of all ages. Enclosed—so good choice in inclement weather!

What a lovely attraction in the middle of a lovely town

By jcanale72 |

The carousel adds to the nostalgic sea-side vibe you get walking down the commercial street of Greenport. My suggestion is to let the kids ride and then walk out admire all the marine traffic and scenery. It's also a great place to have a family discussion.

Beautiful

By RoyM1336 |

Right on the water inside a modern structure. Horses are great and music is the traditional merry go round music. Price seemed reasonable

An inside Carousel near the pier

By adventix |

We were really surprised but the quality of this carousel. It looks old but it is kept in great condition. Price was surprisingly cheap and the carousel runs for about 3 min. Location is great, just next to the pier and some good restaurants. best of all - it is indoor.

Vintage charming

By Anny W |

Sweet indoor carousel right on the water! Such a pretty setting to take a ride on a merry-go-round and feel like a kid again!

Fun for kids of all ages!

By Dean R |

Kids can't get enough of the ride and the reach for the brass ring! During the week and when the carousel first opens there can be few people on the ride. One morning my 4 year old caught rode alone over and over again racking up free rides with brass rings. The star was so friendly and are locals who love their town!

Great for kids and adults and everything in between

By Christina T |

Whether you want to be a romantic as an adult, or you're a child or you have children, its generally good clean fun fo everyone. Get several tokens and ride a few times. Let your inner child loose.

Fun for all ages

By Snowbird547 |

Wonderful old carousel conveniently located in Greenport. Our grandkids loved reaching for the rings in hopes of getting the gold ring - which means a free ride!
Price is reasonable at $2, but buy 20 tickets for $15. They will get used!

So Charming!

Beautiful Merry-Go-Round in a wonderful family- oriented town. Special treat for the little ones and us grownups who are reliving our childhoods. Situated at the town park where live music is performed every Monday evening in the summer.

Fun place to take the grandkids!

Beautiful and well kept!

By santaluvsme |

Great carousel overlooking the harbor in the downtown. $2 per rider and the ride lasts a decent amount of time. We saw them cleaning it every night and it's well maintained. Great addition to the town!

Memories

Thsi carousel brings back memories of my childhood. It was owned by Grumman and I rode it at the family picnics as a child.

Great ride!

By gostartraveler |

Only $2 a ride, horses showing age but then again it's an antique. One of the few carousels which allow riders to grab a ring - and if you get a brass one, you get a free ride. Great location, easy to get to by car, train, or Shelter Island ferry.

Felt like being a kid again

By Pat4Gary |

While in Greenport with friends we went downtown and visited Mitchels Marina where the carousel is located.
It is a large carousel and is always full with children riding and yelling.
It reminded us of our younger days back in Ma.
It is a great place to take your kids

A must do!

By Lee369444 |

Our first time in Greenport and my husband, daughter and I all had to ride this 100 year old carousel. So much fun! The $2 per ride is well worth it, and, if you catch the brass ring, you get a free ride. In today's electronic world, it's nice to step back in time for a few moments and enjoy some old-fashioned fun.

Love the Carousel

By Judy G |

Get carousel on the marina. The price was right and the ride was long. My family humored me by going on the carousel and they loved it too!

Lovely antique carousel in a great location in Greenport. Little park and surrounding area is perfect for walking around.

Best at night

By Amanda C |

This is a great all weather enclosed carousel in the heart of Greenport right by the marina. It looks so nice lite up at night.

Great

By Kristina M |

Great for kids. Very young kids ride for free. Lines aren't long. Last ride of the night lasts 15 mins.

Beautiful antique carousel!

By Alicia V |

My kids love to ride the carousel and they try to grab the brass ring on every ride. My husband and I also enjoy riding it sometimes as well.

Classic

By sjmac456 |

My kids have outgrown carousels (they are 8 and 10) but still enjoy this one. It's an old-fashioned one where you get a free ride if you obtain the brass ring. They rode this at least 20x during the week I was here + they never tired of it. Plus, it is in the heart of town with an amazing view.

Old Time Memories

By Felicia B |

This is located on the pier by the famous restaurant Claudio’s. Children, families and romantic couples could spend awhile enjoying the ride or the restored artwork. Or just sit on a bench and watch others enjoy the ride while you people watch or boat watch...

Delightful old-time carousel

By Mariette R |

It was a great idea of Greenport to bid on purchasing this carousel for Greenport. It is easily accessible by being centrally located and delightful for young and old.

Fantastically maintained carousel right by the water

By Brian K |

This is a jewel. The carousel is wonderfully maintained by the village and is in excellent working condition. The location is remarkable and right by the water. For two dollars, it cannot be beat.

Rode this same Carousel when I was a child

By Karen F |

This is a great place to take children and if you as an adult dont want to ride on a horse--you can stay seated on the carousel also. This carousel used to belong on the Grumman property in Calverton--every year I used to ride it at the Rotarys Annual Chicken BBQ. I love where it is now situated in Greenport, along the waterfront and it is glass enclosed.

Lots of fun for the kids!

By Bridgeporter |

The Antique Carousel was equally fun for the adults as it was for the kids! We all climbed aboard this beautiful work of art and went round and round! We did this three days in a row and the kids enjoyed it very much as we did!

fun for kids

The carousel is beautiful. Worth visiting, even if not riding. It is enclosed, so you can ride it all year long.

First ride on a Carousel!

By travelgal617 |

It was our toddler Grandson's first ride on a Carousel and he loved the first few go-rounds and then announced to his parents "all done"! Such a fun and colorful carousel and the glass building enclosure is enchanting. So glad my daughter made this her son's first Carousel ride!

Kids love a good carousel and this one is inside!

By JrodHernandez |

My kids love this place, every time we visit greenport as a family they ask for a couple of rides, the face that its indoors is great, and in the summer they have these big glass window panels that open and let the air in so its great all year.

Nostalgic

By Symphonie V |

For a $2 ride you cant beat this bit of nostalgia. Def a must do with kids and adults. Take some time to enjoy the ride.

Old time carousel

By marie s |

My grandchildren love this old fashioned ride. It brings back so many memories of days gone by. My granddaughter loves to pick the most beautiful horse she can find to ride. For only two dollars, this a bargain! We are so glad this carousel has been preserved in the waterfront park.

Can't miss regardless of age

By BarbaraAnn_22 |

We three adults relived childhood joy! And we captured all the rings. Close to pier and park so plenty to ser

Missed the music

By Margaret S |

Stood in line and paid the minimal fee to sit on this authentic carousel with my granddaughter. It was a lovely ride, not too brief as most of them tend to be. The revolving scenery included the seaside, pier and a luxurious green lawn. There were gold and silver rings produced for the children to catch but there was no music. I believe it is the first time I have witnessed a carousel that operated without a musical accompaniement and it was sorely missed.

a classic

By Karen E |

Have a kid or want to feel like a kid again then go! I loved every minute of it as much as my kid did.

Very Enjoyable

By GinasTwoCents |

Its worth the $2 for the kids. It was a long carousel ride compared to others that we've been on and the money goes to maintain/restore the carousel. There was no wait and the kids loved it.

Brings out the kid in everyone

By jborn_12 |

Took my family and Yes I went on it. And at 67 I didn't get sick. It sure did bring back memories. Afterwards there were plenty of places to eat and time to enjoy the waterfront.

Old Fashioned Fun, Old Fashioned Price

By geokurth28 |

My kids loved this carousel when they were 2,and love it even more at 19...it’s a special attraction in the perfect spot. Norman Rockwell is smoking somewhere!

Great old carousel

By marie s |

This oldtime carousel is maintained beautifully. It is enclosed so inclement weather does not effect it. The rides are $2 each and my grandchildren loved it! Greenport is a lovely old Long Island town to walk around in. There are plenty of restaurants to enjoy like Port (near the ferry to Shelter Island) and Claudio’s on the pier and in town. There are shops to explore and yachts to look at.

A must when in Greenport!!

By Patty C |

Transported me back to when I was a kid. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get up on the horse but no problem -- they brought me a stool to help me up! I was delighted and thoroughly enjoyed my carousel ride. Ya gotta do it!! So much fun.

Nestled in a Lovely Park

By pookala |

Old carousels are getting harder to come by. This nicely maintained modest merry go round is a great activity for families and photographers. Definitely stop by to see this attraction when in Greenport. Really smart that it’s housed in a glass building, 1) to protect the carousel and 2) to provide some outdoor activity for kids on a rainy day.

Nifty attraction

By Oakdale29 |

Saw it in action and interesting to see one of these but they close awfully early so weren't able to actually try it.

Great Attraction for Kids of all Ages

By santom37 |

Great Location and Views of Mitchell Park Marina. Carousel is a great attraction for families. Very Busy on Weekends.

Fun for all ages

By Susan G |

It's a step back in time for only $2 per ride, and a lovely way to feel like a kid again. It's right in the middle of the downtown area, close to shops and restaurants.

A ride back in time

By emmeness |

What a delightful surprise, to find a restored antique carousel at the waterfront park. It's worth getting the multi-ticket package because you won't want to get off.

Nice to do while in town

By ColumFoley |

At only two dollars a head this is a nice activity to do in Greenport. We found parking in Greenport tricky so ended up parking down by the ferry and walking up.
