3 of 28 Best Attractions in Spring Hill

So disappointed to see after all this time the fishing pier hasn't been replaced?? This is out go to place for Spring Hill area to take visiting family, friends, walk on the pier maybe see manatee, fish, etc. What's the problem that it hasn't been repaired yet - repairs and the opening of the pier is way over due.

We did a drive through this scenic area. Nice if you are in the area. Not much around. We were birding and saw a few wadres

I’m a New Englsnder and I haven’t found a place with fish and chips like back home here yet. The fish is either greasy or fishy tasting. The bay port has the best fish and chips I’ve had here and it’s sll you can eat. The atmosphere is lovely if you eat on the outside patio also.

I saw one close to the pier. Clean with picnic tables and bathrooms. Boat ramp. A piece of pier is damaged. Large crab. Sand hill cranes on the road

Bayport Park has a boat launch, a place to get kayaks and canoes into the water! There are picnic tables and trails. It's peaceful and beautiful!

If you like to fish, boat, or enjoy a sunset .... this is the place. The pier, along the channel to the Weeki Wachee river, allows fishing, sightseeing, or watching great sunsets. If you have a boat, you can launch it several yards away, with plenty of parking for your vehicle & trailer. Come see for yourself, and enjoy your time outdoors. Hope this helps for your first visit.

This is primarily a boat launch, but it also includes a fishing pier, kayak launch, clean restrooms, and a pier to watch the sunset from. There is no parking or launch fee for kayaks, or the fishing pier. Most people don't know that when they are fishing off the pier there is a Civil War shipwreck right at their feet!

The park is the best place for a great sunset view. Beautiful place for eating a nice dessert while watching the sunset. Best views in Hernando county. Park is small not too much parking available but it also doesn't charge you to view sunset like pine island beach.

They cleaned it and add outside tablets for picnics and parties there is pier to walk out on .you can fish and crabbing. And the sunset are very beautiful. Put in more boat launches too!

I use the boat ramp there all the time to go fishing out on the flats. Can get a little busy, but have never had anyone be rude or obnoxious. You do have to pay $5.00 parking fee.

Bayport Park is a realxing placefor a picnic or to enjoy watching the sunset, whether from the walkway or a kiosk by the water. There is a fishing pier where the Weeki Wache river enters th gulf. The only shortcomming is the restrooms are a good hike away from the pier. Ther are boat ramps as well and the only fee is a $5 parking fee for those using the ramp.

We go to Bayport often. We usually go at lunch time. We bring our own lunch since there is no food available to buy there. You can watch boats go in and out of the park. There is also a pier that you can fish from. We also have gone just before sunset. It is a wonderful place to see the sun set.

This is the place i always take visitors. Very clean lots of plaques to read about the founding of bay port and the importance of this port during the civil war. Has ample picnic tables a boat ramp and good wheel chair accsess lots of weddings here amazing photo spots

This is a small park where we often take visitors to enjoy the sunset. They have a fishing pier and picnic area as well.We dont boat, but there is a boat ramp and can occassionally see manatees or dolphins.

Great view of the gulf, tidal flats, boats coming in and out of the river. Covered picnic tables. Fishing dock. Boat ramp. We would get lunch on the way and eat here in the fall, winter and spring. Also came out for sunset watching.

This is a good boating and Kayak launch site. A small local park that has lots to offer. Nice place to view the sunset on the covered benches and has a small park for the family to enjoy. Fish from the fishing pier, grill for a family get together. The boat launch gets busy early on the weekends so if your going, go at the crack of dawn for a parking spot. Also goes for the great sunset views. If your Kayaking, the mouth of the Weeki Wachee river is not far and manatees are found if your observant. Kayak launch is free but a small fee for the boat trailers. The only thing missing would be a play ground for the younger kids. There are history markers giving local history.

Nice fishing pier and a great place to launch your boat. During the right time of the year you get a good sunset but not as good as Pine Island. Have seen a bunch of great birds and on the way in have seen eagles many times.

This is a fishing pier with some tables and grills. The county has recently expanded the park to include more tables, grills, bathrooms. This is a great place to launch a boat too.

This was spot more inclined to picnicking, boating (and kayaking), and fishing rather than swimming. It was quite well managed with different shaded areas, a fishing pier, and several historical signs. By the fishing pier we saw several manatees hanging out. Quite cool.

Mother Nature still provides beautiful scenery, especially the sunsets. There are great picnic facilities but the pier which was damaged by a hurricane has not been restored. There had been a sign up that it was to be repaired with relief money. The sign is no longer there and the repairs have not been done. Fishers and onlookers alike miss this integral part of the park. Hopefully the future will see the restoration completed.

Wow what a peaceful neat place. You could watch the boats going in and out, fish, picnic or just sit and relax and enjoying a beautiful spot on the water. They had a place to put in your boat or kayaks. The restroom was neat and clean too.

Still working on the dock, suppose to be done by end of 2019. It does have another area where you can walk in an aluminum walk. Also has a kayak and canoe launch area as well as boats. A nice place to visit for sure

quite waterfront park parking, beautiful gulf view west for sunsets shelter, and picnic tables and benches no charge to enter, folks fishing, walking just having a good time

Small park, get there early for the sunsets. Great view, benches to sit on, fishing pier. Come early for a picnic and fishing, stay for a gorgeous sunset.

Bayport Park has a nice boat ramp that is easy to use... good parking for your vehicle and trailer..... get there early it does fill up. Nice ride there going through the salt water marsh from Weekie Wachie is is "old Florida coast" Public boat ramps, no entrance fee. there is nice fishing pier, covered picnic tables, and if you like sunsets, you will like this place. Free, and beautiful is hard to beat!

Watch beautiful sunsets and enjoy nature! Local park where you can launch a boat in 5 minutes be in the Gulf of Mexico. Fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, Nature walk, bird watching, manatee watching. Free parking

We went to Bayport Park on May 2nd to have a picnic by the pier. The new pier is beautiful. But now when you come in to the parking lot, there is a machine for you to use a credit card to pay a parking fee of $10.00. It is good 24 hours, but it is an extreme amount if you want to spend just an hour or two. No one is at the machine to make sure everyone pays the fee, so no one actually does.
We went over to the picnic area and kayak launch before we left. Rest rooms are available and covered picnic tables, as well as a small Pavillion that can be rented for family gatherings. There was another machine in this area for the $10.00 parking fee for that section of the park. There is no beach and you are no longer allowed to walk by the water. There is a large wheelchair accessible viewing area with benches, but the large trees obstruct the view of the water. There is no area for children to play, so really there is nothing for them to do there. It is a nice spot to relax by the water, but not some place we would spend the day. We will continue to go to have a picnic and watch the sunset, but only until we are forced to pay $10.00 for parking.

We have lived near Weeki Wachee for about 11 years and go to Bayport every chance we get. It is quiet and beautiful but bring your own chairs.

There is a $5.00 parking fee and the ramps are good and sturdy but I just wish they would make more ramps because it gets easily congested at busy times and people get aggravated quick trying to figure out who is next. We used to love going fish off the big dock at night but it has been tore down and under construction for almost a year now I believe and before that it was blocked off for a LONG time so you couldnt walk out on the dock. If you are wanting to get out to the Gulf quick then you are at the right place or if you want to travel up the Weeki Wachee river, go to Mudd River, Mary's Fish Camp, or Jenkins Creek you can do that very easily as well but becareful going off the main channel because there are a lot of very shallow places and you can get stuck. The history that comes from this location is AMAZING and something to look up and read about its pretty cool.

Pretty ride from Weekie Wachie through "old Florida." Public boat ramps, no entrance fee. there is fishing pier, covered picnic tables, and did I mention watching the sun set over the bay. No alcohol policy but drink discreetly and responsibly, share a bottle of wine while the sun sets. Closes at dusk.

A lot people mistakenly put reviews for Pine Island Park here. This in NOT that park.
This park has no beach, no concession and no paid parking. That is Pine Island.
This park has a dilapidated boarded off pier and free parking. It has boat ramps and a very steep kayak ramp. I don’t know how you get in/out with it being so steep; I saw one kayaker fall into the murky water. I didn’t even take my kayak off the roof.
Most of the area looks neglected.
There is a recent wheelchair accessible boardwalk, to nowhere. It’s set way back from the water and seems to serve no purpose.
There are some really nice picnic areas with no view of the water.
It is free while the wonderful nearby Pine Island Park has a $5 entry fee. You get what you pay for.

After many long months and delays, the fishing pier was finally done. It does seem to be a little larger and seems to be further out. Can’t real understand the delays but it did turn out nice. New roof are on the picnic tables but no other improvements were noted. Strongly suggest parking at the boardwalk area and walk to the pier. Parking is still real limited and when there saw two vehicles ticketed by looked like FWC. Before forming an opinion, there were drastically illegally parked. Just go to the spaces mentioned and you won’t run in to any issues.

It always nice to enjoy fresh air and feel the gulf breeze. Nice place to take in the views and walk around. Boardwalk is not well light at night so bring a light and bug spray. Before you see the gulf, about 200 ft to the right there is a small parking spot to the right with bathrooms and place to put in your canoe or kayak.

The Bayport Park is not huge, but it is very clean and intimate. Great view of the Bay, with fishing too.

This is probably the best spot in the county to catch a sundown. A nice fishing pier, boat ramps, kayak ramp, and rest rooms are available. Easy access to the Gulf from the ramps. Take your friends!

I like to go here to relax and renew my mind. It is fun to watch the people fishing and crabbing. I also like to watch the boats go by. The sunsets are magnificent!!!

Sitting in the quiet, with the wind gently blowing, the sun setting and the air smelling sweet. That's where I go to get lost from my day and be at peace. This is where I can contemplate or meditate or share with a friend for quiet conversation. Living alone can be hard for a senior, but for me it's gets easier when I have been out at this park, getting into a state of calm that will last for days.
This park is also great for family picnics at the tables or walking down the road to the pier. Good fishing, gazing at the stars, boating, clean bathrooms..whatever your heart desires.

To get to Bayport Park take HWY 50 to its end. There are 3 excellent launching ramps. Toilet facilities, a great fishing pier and picnic tables. There are no official swimming areas at Bayport. They also have a canoe launching area. After launching you will be able to enter the channel for direct gulf access. The park area is always clean and open 24 hrs. Remember to get your launch/parking permits at the launching ramp parking lot.......I launch here weekly and really enjoy the ramps.

Great quiet place to take in a sunset. It is quite beautiful scenery where the glades/marsh meets the gulf ocean. We saw lots of fisherman as well. There are picnic table along the water to sit. You can walk onto a pier. Or you can view the sunset right from your car. You park within 15 feet of the water.

This is a hidden gem. A few miles away from busy Rt 19, but well worth the drive. The beaches wrap most of the way around the park - and are used by people of all ages, as well as families. The bathrooms are clean. And the food stand is eclectic and beautiful. What a great way to spend some relaxing time!

Bayport Park is a nice peninsula to see the sunset. Also good for fishing even though the pier has not been repaired. For boat lovers, there is a nice boat ramp.

if I wanted to be alone this is the place to go quiet peaceful and it is right next to the beach along with the restaurant

If you plan on going for the sunset, check the scheduled time and plan on being there 45 min before hand, parking is minimal. There are picnic tables, if you pack a picnic, sunset dinner. 180 degree view for the sunset. There were no mosquitoes.

Locals love to come here to fish and set their crab pots. It is a small park but quaint and has bathroom facilities.

This is a great place to watch some beautiful gulf coast sunsets. It is relaxing and pretty. Boaters have access to boat ramps.

This is a small functional park that many enjoy the night sunsets at. There have boat ramps, picnic tables a fishing pier and kayaking. We have seen some of the most vibrant sunsets from the pier or the surrounding picnic area. Shaded picnic areas have been added in the last few years. It is a quiet and peaceful nice little park.

Stopped by today to just relax a little...sat at a picnic table and drank a coke...while we drank in the beauty of God's nature! Great little place to canoe, kayak, jet ski, go fishing!

My son and I had so much fun here we will definitely be going back with the entire family. Next time we are going we will be fishing ☺️

This is a beautiful beach with shallow water and concessions BUT the park is often full by ten AM. Handicapped spaces are free, but they are very limited.
Most of the time on a beautiful day you will be turned away and have to drive back to the highway.
When you can get in, it is well worth the few dollars for parking.

Bayport park is a nice area that includes a walking area, a fishing pier, several picnic areas, a boat launch area, and some bathrooms!
There is no swimming area!
We like to go here on a nice day, relax with a lunch, get some fresh air, the area is usually quiet with others eating lunch, or fishing at the pier!
Occasionally a boat using the launch area will motor by, and there are usually a couple dolphins swimming by a couple times a day!
I don't remember seeing a children's play area, so it might get boring for young children wanting to play! There are also no open areas for kids to throw a ball, etc.!

Not too far from Weeki Wachee State Park. A nice place to go to see the sunsets although I have be caught with having to pay admittance fees.

My absolute favorite place in Hernando County. Great wildlife sightings: river otters, Dolphins, manatees, bald eagles, Sharks, and good assortment of water fowl.

Very relaxing to watch the birds, people fishing, the ocean and boats going by. Good place to get outside where it is quiet and peaceful'

I go to this park mainly for canoeing and kayaking. There are nice ramps and good, clean bathroom facilities there. There is parking for boat trailers and cars. It's the scenic, real Florida. The fishing pier was damaged in Hurricane Hermine but it is being repaired and should be open this year.

My husband and I have been here many times to watch some pretty spectacular sunsets. It's not very big and it usually is pretty busy, so get there a little early if you want a parking spot.

Always plenty of parking and tables and viewing ramp with benches. There is a fishing pier and covered table stands right next to the water. There is a picnic area in a treed area where the rest rooms are located.

Nice place to watch the Sunset. There is now a $10 parking fee. A parking pass can be purchased through Hernando County Parks and Recreation for a current price of $53.65 for the year. Nice fishing pier. :-))

Small but nice park--Always launch our boat from the docks there. It can get a little crowded in the spring and summer but still plenty of room

Lots of bugs, but great sunset. You can fish off the pier, but won't catch that much. Best place to put your boat in the water.

During the onslaught of rainy days we got out to the water in between downpours and visited the park & pier.
Visited with a few people fishing one caught a puffer fish & released.
We usually kayak up here but it was nice to be here on a Sunday without the crowds.

Been there many times. Two nice places to get excellent views of the bay. Great covered picnic areas and bathroom facilities. Boat Launch facilities and dock for fishing and crabing. Nice ride through Florida in the raw to get there. Love the Place...side trip through Airepka is also excellent.

Great spot for watching Sunsets. Hope the County gets the fishing pier repaired soon. One of the few parks left without a parking fee

Great fun atmosphere! Music, welcoming employees. Good home cooking. Great prime rib night or just out for a little fun atmosphere and friendly surroundings.

I've seen more beautiful sunset here than anywhere else, but get there early as the parking fills up fast approaching sunset. Covered picnic tables, Manatee's hanging out in cooler season too. Weeki Wachee River empties out here to meet the Gulf.

It's nice to go to Bayport to listen to the ocean, smeal the sea, watch people of all ages fishing, and watching nature be nature

Bayport Park is a gem of a tiny park - located at mouth of Weeki Wachee River as it empties into the Gulf of Mexico. Fishing Pier is a good place for crabbing or fishing. Picnic tables with shelters along the water and also hidden in trees with a nice bathroom facility and boat launch nearby. A historical landmark during the Civil War when ships came in to unload supplies.

Bayport Fishing Pier beautiful place to see the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Get there early place was packed. Nice place for families or that special date to watch and enjoy the sunset.

Whether you like to fish, boat, or enjoy a sunset .... this is the place. The pier, along the channel to the Weeki Wachee river, allows fishing, sightseeing, or watching great sunsets. If you have a boat, you can launch it several yards away. Come see for yourself. Hope this helps for your first visit.

We went there as husband and wife. Saw dolphins swimming in the water. And we actually saw someone propose to his fiance. It was wonderful!

Nice place with ample parking, a boat ramp that looks easy enough to get in and out of, covered picnic tables and more. Fish, put in a boat or kayak or just take in some nature. We loved this spot and will be back... Tip: Bug Spray

We enjoy going here to watch the sunsets. There is no parking fee, a boardwalk that the kids enjoy running up and down, but it is closed off sometimes. There is a picnic table or 2, and a roped off trail that many people use to walk down to the water. Did I mention it was a beautiful spot at sunset!! This is NOT Pine Island where the beach access is as many of the previous comments make mention to.

A nice, quiet park. A great place to watch a sunset. Make sure you get there early for a parking spot!

This gorgeous gem is rural coastal Florida at its best. Wandered about the shoreline watching dolphins swim to and fro.

Always love to go by myself with a little lunch bag and sit by the water near the fishing pier. There are covered picnic tables and you can usually find one vacant. The sea birds and occasionally a couple manatees visit. The pier allows you to get out over the water and the fisherman are friendly there. There is a lovely picnic area just before reaching the fishing area that has a pavilion and more individual covered tables. A nice walkway provides views of the Gulf through the trees and on its bank. Definitely beats the noise and congestion found at nearby Pine Island, and you don't have to PAY to enjoy a part of the Gulf Coast.

Water was warm, some seaweed, but very shallow only knee deep.. Great for kids, but adults can't really swim.

Used TripAdvisor to find a pretty place to watch the sunset and it didn’t let me down. There is a well kept seating area on an elevated platform to watch the sunset. Lots of birds around to watch as well.

A quiet and out-of-the way park situated at a point of land from which the views span the ubiquitous marshes typical of this stretch of north central Florida as well as the Gulf of Mexico. It consists of several areas, boat ramps, and a more formal section offering picnic tables, paved sidewalks, interesting signs describing the history of the area, and views of the Gulf. If you are in the Bayport area this park should definitely be on your agenda.

we often take a ride to the park to watch the sunset. on some nights it is really
beautiful. watching the others fish is very relaxing. the only downside is the parking. get there early enough to park so you do not have to walk far. very clean and quiet area to just sit and enjoy nature.

Thus is a true gem! I loved it. Secluded and very clean. Not much but fresh ocean air. Good for a pinic. No animals only service animals allow. No playground for kids. Nice place to sit and think.

Nice spot for picnic lunch or to launch your boat into the gulf or Weeki Wachi river.
Walkways and restrooms.Fishong pier.
Views of the gulf and an occasional manatee if your lucky.

Our favorite place to watch the sun go down on the gulf. Get there early for a good view. Also a nice place to have lunch or dinner at one of the many tables.

Beautiful at sunset, beautiful at night. Should you be there with another, it would be love at first sight.

Bay port Park is located at the very end of Cortez Blvd jutting into the Weeki Wachee river.
Fishing, boat and kayak launching areas, picnicking. There is a T shaped boardwalk over the river, great for strolling, bird, dolphin, manatee and fish watching. Unending vistas for photography or painting. Fantastic sunsets. Highly recommended .

This is a great out of the way place to do a little fishing or see the sunset. Easy to find, one way in and one way out.

We have been coming here for years just to sit and watch the birds and dolphins. 2 Boat ramps, Picnic tables, Pavilions, BBQ grills, Restrooms, Fishing Pier, and a new Boardwalk on 7 acres. Great to bring the kids fishing and picnicking. So relaxing just to sit and watch the water.

Sad to see that the pier has never been fixed. It has been years. It is still a pretty spot but without the pier to fish from it is just not the same

Went to see the new pier & park update. Nice, but the one in Homosassa is bigger & has a beach. No restaurants. Nothing special but it's pleasant.

So it's 7:30pm, at the end of another beautiful Sunny day.
Pack the family in the car, & head for Bayport Park. Many locals, come to be awed by the most beautiful sunsets. Great place to bring your out of state guest. Enjoy the view!

You can see the most beautiful sunsets from here. Very peaceful and relaxing. The fishing there is pretty good as well.

Lovely place enjoy the sun the beach and the gulf all at a low price $5.00 gate fee. Watch a beautiful sun all in one day. Pine Island.

Use the ramp to launch boat. The ramp is well built, accesible and protected from waves and wind. Area is kept clean and tidy! Also a good area to walk and observe nature. Fishing pier is looking good again!

Nice park to get away from over crowded beaches. Clean and quite. Not far from any of the main roads.

I ride my motorcycle to this area first thing while my wife is still snoozing in bed and just sit and relax, watch the otters and manatee and think what a lucky devil I am to be in florida sometimes I chat to the people fishing on the pier. Nothing else down there but the boat ramp and some benches but I love it!

We have been here more times than I can count in the last 6 years. When we just want a peaceful place to watch the sunset or take a picnic lunch. I don't know about fishing from the nice pier but a lot of people always are there trying their luck. This is our"go to" place. The only thing I don't like is there is never enough parking at sunset time.

Spending the night in the area I checked Tripadvisor for things to do. Read the reviews of Bayport Park. Decided to grab some sandwiches from a grocery deli and head out. We had been at Treasure Island, a favorite of ours, but this place is great. Though not a sandy beach, it's beautiful. Lots of people but still quiet. Sunset was beautiful. Definitely a place I'd return to. Pictures are worth a 1000 words. Go if you're close!
We raced to meet the sunset and we were sure glad we made it!

We enjoy this park for Florida sunsets. We also fish off the docks for many years. Nice family area.

Wonderful place to go to just sit and relax looking out into the Gulf. Fantastic sunset location. My personal favorite site to photograph summer storms comming ashore.

A nice little place to come relax and gaze out at the water. If Pine Island beach is too busy come here. It is mainly for boat and kayak launches but has picnic tables, benches
And a wooden fishing pier. No beach to swim just enjoy the view and watch the sun go
Down. No parking fees.

Took daughter and young grandkids for a day out. Nice playground area with many attractions. Nice beach area and great views. Well equipped snack bar too. Hope the fishing pier is repaired soon, will give a 5 then for sure

This park has two parts. The first has a metal deck overlooking the ocean, and it has lots of trees and tables ad benches. Also restrooms and sidewalk so is handicap accessible. The second part has a nice wooden pier to see the ocean and boats coming in and out to the boat launch. Picnic tables and benches. No swimming or snack shop , at either part.

Ample parking to launch a kyack or boat. Small beach but flanked by marshes. several local places to eat. Off the beaten trail.

Nice quiet scenic ride, clean beach and great Subset views.could stay open longer, it closes at sunset.

Lovely small place with a small metal boardwalk with a lovely view of the water.
We were very lucky that a nice fisherman saw us walking past and pointed out loads of dolphins.
We stood and watched for ages as the dolphins were swimming around.
Free parking and multiple restrooms available.
Great place to spend a short amount of time if you're nearby.

We love to go here for the sunset. There is a beautiful view over the water-like heaven on earth! Pack a snack and try this. MANY people go here for the experience, so go early.

Small beach area, you must get there early to get a parking place but for Hernando County with not much else to do its ok for a few hours.

We like to drive down here to watch the sun go down. It is also a pretty good [lace to launch a boat or fish from the pier. We have not seen any facilities but it is still a nice place to visit in the evening.

This place has covered picnic tables, trash cans, great views, free entrance, accessible by vehicle or small boat.

Bayport park is not only a fishing pier, it is a place to escape from every day life, crab, fish, or just hang out and watch the sunset.

My Husband and I used to visit this park when we were first dating 37 years ago. He had visited it many times when he was in the area to visit his grandmother. My husband passed away two years ago and I took my daughter to show her where we had spent time. It is sad that the dock is in such disrepair. We used to walk out on the outer dock, hopefully they will repair it soon. Great memories of this park. Would be a great place to just sit and relax

Seems like the whole area goes to watch the sunsets at the park. It’s simply exhilarating! The people are friendly.

a park for fishing and relaxing on the mouth of the Weeki Wachee River as it enters the Gulf of Mexico

Bayport has several ramps for boat launching. There is ample parking for towing vehicles and boat trailers. Rest rooms are available as well as a few secluded picnic tables. A nice Park

Great place to go and have a sandwich or something while watching the sunset. They are working on repairing the pier and that will be great cause it is a good place to fish and crab from. It’s nice to get away from the hustle and fast pace of life just sit her and relax. Sometimes you can even get lucky and see a manatee or two. Try it you won’t be disappointed.

Bayport offers some of the best views in the area for spectacular sunsets. The dock and cement wall face west so it's easy to sit with your feet hanging over the cement and watch the colors change or lean over the dock railing and admire the view. If it's a nice evening there will also be many other people doing this so COME EARLY for parking. it can get crowded. There is also a small boardwalk overlooking the water with views that peak out between the palm trees. The fishing pier is quite popular. You might spot an otter or manatee from here. This isn't a large park (there is no actual beach) but it's a nice place to spend an hour or so.

We drove over from Florida's east coast to visit Weeki Wachee Springs and, since we were in such close proximity to the western coast, decided to see the Gulf of Mexico. Bayport Park showed up on google maps as the most convenient access - about 7 miles from the spring.
Turns out that Bayport is a historic Civil War battle site. Plaques describe the local war history, as well as post war and even prehistoric times here. There's a large covered picnic pavilion here which could serve nicely for family reunion activities.
The breeze off the water was divine on an 85-degree afternoon, but I was a bit disappointed that we couldn't stick our toes in the gulf. Access was blocked because the state is rehabilitating waterfront terrain here that was previously trampled to death by humans. So you climb an elevated metal boardwalk lined with park benches for peeks at the gulf between the trees.
We walked over to the boat launch area of the park and spotted a magnificent bald eagle high on a tree limb overhead. He did two loops to entertain us before resuming his perch. We were able to stick our toes in the marsh water at the edge of the ramp - not the same as stepping into the gulf, but refreshing nonetheless.
A great egret tolerated us for several minutes before taking flight, as did a white ibis perched on the ramp rail. I appreciated the fact that very few visitors were utilizing the services here. We had the park mostly to ourselves on a Tuesday afternoon.

Beautiful place to spend some time for boating or sunning meaning lots of visitors and enjoying the weather and scenery.

I nice place to watch the sunset. Also a boat launch and park with picnic tables. There is a pier to walk out on but I do not think many fish are caught.Peaceful and enjoyable.

It is nice, peaceful. I seen the most beutiful sunset of my life there. On the gulf of Mexico, lots of wildlife.

Bayport Park is a beautiful spot filled with spots to sit, areas to take a stroll, fish, and enjoy nature. We visited just a few months after Hurricane Matthew and were sad, yet understanding, that the pier was not assessable as it had been damaged. Looking forward to returning to Bayport Park this fall and hoping the pier is open for us to enjoy.
This is THE spot to enjoy a spectacular sunset!!!

The park is a great place for a picnic in rain or shine or to watch the sun set. We have seen a dolphin near the shoreline getting his lunch.

A great place to view sunsets from their handicapped deck, picnic benches and clean bathroom facilities ample free parking, public boat launches, You can fish or crab off the pier or just sit back and watch the boaters Drawbacks are no place to swim and place could use more seating benches and a snack stand

Nice little park. More of a boat ramp, but there are spots for picnics and to just sit and watch the setting sun. There is also a kayak launch area, for those so inclined. A few signs describing the history of the park area. No swimming here, but well worth the drive, just to get away and relax by the Gulf. Hubby and I will ride our motorcycles out this way just for the beautiful view.

This is a beautiful place to watch the sunset! In recent years they have added a walking path and small playground. Great boat ramp with ample parking too.

Went fishing, great location. The bathroom in the park was extremely clean. no cost to go in and very scenic.

Stopped here for a few minutes and read the History markers which was very interesting. Walked the tiny boardwalk which is wheelchair accessible. Beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico

So happy there is a kayak launch here now. This is a great little park and always clean. There always seems to be plenty of parking and the views are beautiful. The one warming I would give us to bring bug spray as the no seeums are always biting.

This area was clean with picnic tables. Boat ramps with easy access to the gulf. Nice place to sit and relax.

Parking stinks, beach is ok, but over crowded sometimes because of it being one of the few in this area.

Park with boat launching ramp. Picnic tables . Fishing dock. Rest rooms. Great views of the islands. KUB

We travel here weekly for the Sunsets it is an Amazing place to view and alot less congested than pine island.

The park is an excellent place to go to watch the sun set ,fish watch the wildlife go by or to just sit and have a meal at one of their picnic sites .

This wasn't stop today but, glad we did. The weather was perfect. If it gets too much hotter though, it will feel very humid. Great place for boaters & lots for the trailers. It was very clean well maintaned .

My son takes his puppy there all the time to catch and take pictures of the spectacular sunsets. I would recommend this for all visitors to see at least once.

Our family enjoys fishing at Bayport. There are a few picnic shelters. There is a canoe/kayay launch and a boat slip. You can view the sunsets there as well.

Quiet, relaxing pier with views of the gulf waters. Well-maintained area with parking section, shaded picnic tables, and a walkway. The markers explain the historic significance of the area and give insight into this region of Florida. This is not a beach or swimming area. Enjoyable visit.

Bayport park is a very nice little beach on the gulf coast it's scenic there are picnic tables under shelters bathrooms and a nice little snack bar if you go at the right time you can see manatees

Bayport Park is a Hernando County Park in Spring Hill nestled between Weeki Wachee, Hernando Beach and Brooksville at the western end of Florida 50, Cortez Blvd on the Gulf of Mexico. With most of the coastline in Hernando Country dedicated to a nature preserve its difficult for residents and visitors to enjoy the views of the open Gulf and to be able to enjoy water sports, fishing and boating in the area. This park provides access to the gulf with two paved boat ramps, one double and one single wide so three boats can launch or retrieve their boats at one time. The pay station for daily parking is by the boat ramps so it’s easy to get a ticket before you drive over to park the car/trailer before returning to your boat. Annual Hernando county parking passes are available for sale to county residents that are valid for all county parks. Just beyond the ramps are the rest rooms that the county keeps very well maintained.
One caution for boaters is to remain in the channel coming out of the launch area as on the right toward land are several stickups for traps or pound nets that are not visible at high tide. Off the main road is a separate launching and large parking area for canoes and kayaks. They have a canal to get out to the open water. There are pavilions by the water with barbecue grills, picnic tables and a walkway alone the water. If you enjoy bird watching you will really love it here. There are many birds of different types to enjoy. Dogs are not allowed in the park. The park had a nice fishing pier that went out into deeper water but Hurricane Hermine trashed the pier and left most of the coastal area under water with a lot of damage to property and homes along the area. The pier is closed and we are waiting to hear when work will begin to repair or replace the damaged one. Shore fishing is still available along the paved walkway and salt water fishing licenses are required except for Florida residents over 65 years of age.
There is no beach at this park but very close by is Pine Island Park with a large beach and loads of parking with a nice ‘island flair’ restaurant, Willy’s Tropical Breeze Cafe, serving sandwiches, fried food and wraps if you get hungry or thirsty at the beach. Bayport Park has a long history and has satisfied locals and visitors alike for years. It’s a great place to relax, have lunch overlooking the water, fish, boat or just commune with nature. I rate it five stars.

Beautiful sunsets. They need to repair the pier asap. We all miss it. You have had the money to repair it for a long time now. So repair it.
And the picnic tables all need to be fixed, repaired, pressure washed and painted. Maintenance here is lacking.

Great boat ramp, especially if you have annual pass. Easy parking after launching.
Newly renovated pier to watch fish and wildlife and fish for those w/o boat.
The restrooms have had a shady rep as past police busts of homosexuals aren’t easily forgotten, especially if you have children!.
All in all nice area to access the waters of the Gulf Coast.

There are tables and benches to sit or bring your own lawn chair. It is very peaceful by the water. The sunsets are simply gorgeous. There usually is a nice breeze. If you are lucky, you can see dolphins.

Just a short drive out from Spring hill. This is a great little park to come and enjoy nature or the just the atmosphere. There is a very nice wooden pier that you can walk out to and get on the water where you can observe the birds that fly in and out or maybe see a Dolphin swim by. There are also several tables to use to have a picnic lunch or dinner. We found it a great place to come out and watch the sunset. There are clean restroom facilities. The walks are concrete and easy to walk and are wheel chair accessible.

Great place to ride too. They finally finished the peir,it’s done but I don’t know if you can go out to the peir.Nice ride on a motorcycle.

Beautiful park, right on the Gulf of Mexico. It is a popular place to picnic and watch the sunset. Many photographers take pictures of the ever changing sunsets here. There is a fishing pier. Parking is limited so get there early if you want to see the sunset.

Since I don’t have a motor boat, good place for a relaxed picnic and to watch the boaters & fisherpeople 🙂

Stopped there last Saturday morning. Very pleasant place to sit. It wasn't crowded this particular day because of rain approaching. They have a boat dock area that is usually overflowing. Had fun watching a couple manatees in the water. Beautiful place to see the sunset. Great dock to fish from.

We visited here to tryout the new kayak launch port. It is nice. Don't launch at low tide or you will struggle getting out.

This is a great place if you want some great sunsets. It is peaceful and very nice to sit and watch the Sunsets. They have fixed it up nicely.

Bayport Park is located at the end of a very narrow road on Pine Island, west of Weeki Wachee resort in Spring Hill, FL. The park is small and there is a fee. Bayport Park is a very good family and young people's place to go. There is not a lot there and parking is a premium. Vehicles were parked all along the narrow road after the parking lot was full. At best there was a very, very narrow 3/4 lane open to exit the park. If you have a big family with lots of kids, you will like it. The park has a complete set of facilities and a restaurant. The beach is narrow and small with deep water warnings. I rated Bayport Park as very good, but mostly for families and young people.

We were just there for the Sunset, and like all the other reviews it is an excellent location. The parking lot is not big and was full 1/2 hr before sunset. The pictures are the best review.

Went last night to enjoy some time with my youngest. I forgot what a little gem this place is! It was much more quiet then Pine Island and just a very different atmosphere. It's definitely worth the extra few miles to drive from Pine Island out to Bayport
Perfect for watching the sunset
We had a fantastic time out watching the sunset. Brilliant views has raised seating we got there 30 mins before sunset and it was a little busy but plenty of space to take photos or just sit and watch the sunset. Only downside is the pier or boardwalk that is shut and has been for a while.
