Nice Day Trip

By Jlbttrfly7 |

I loved this beach. Perfect for couples because there's not much for the kids to do. My boyfriend and I came for a nice relaxing day and it was exactly what we were looking for. Very clean!

nice

By TREK39 |

nice clean boardwalk. I think it is a synthetic which may be a problem for some but i found it to be great to walk on.

Just another Jersey Shore beach

By irinalapin |

Nothing special about this beach. Although it remains outrageous that East Coast beaches charge to walk onto the beach -- the whole West Coast AND Hawaii are public access and much nicer. Boardwalk are just over-rated money traps.

Great little beach!

By Rachel W |

Decided to check this beach out for a day trip after searching for the beach closest to my house near Allentown Pa. There a several playgrounds, they do surfing lessons, there are water filling and cell phone charging stations, beach rentals (they bring them to you and set up your umbrella). There are lots of places to park. Meter parking is 2.00 an hour and you pay at a parking kiosk or right from the pay2park app. 16 and older need beach badges ($8.00)per day and you can find the badge booths easily on the boardwalk every couple blocks. I parked on 6th Ave right at the boardwalk and there were bathrooms and a badge booth right there. My daughter called for our rentals while I got my badge, and the guys were there with our things before we got out of the bathroom. The beach was clean, and it's non-smoking. We even got to see dolphins swimming about 300 yards out. Strange waves though while we were there. It went from being completely still and silent to tsunami central every 10 minutes. We all had a great time and will be back before the end of summer.

Definitely go swimming it's so invigorating!!

By pat54074 |

The beaches are breathtakingly beautiful!! The temperature of the water was 75 degrees. Beware of the riptide and the surf though. I loved swimming but you need to pay attention to the drifting you'll do down the beach and past the wave break. The boardwalks are incredible to walk, bike or run on. I love how they have open bathrooms to use all along the boardwalks day and night. The beach was very well maintained very clean and they have lots of baskets to throw your trash. Beware of the seagulls trying to steal your belongings when your swimming or walking. Just secure your things with your chair or shoes. Definitely go swimming though it is so invigorating!!

Day trip

By Ben Dover |

What a pleasant surprise. The beach is clean and people are nice. Good place to visit in September. Small boardwalk with minimal lowlifes.

Beautiful, safe and fun for the whole family

By Paul C |

There is nothing better than a stroll or run on this beautiful boardwalk. The views are great. It's kid friendly. Completely revamped after Super storm Sandy. It is improved every year. This year they added boardwalk water fountains, water bottle filling stations and cell phone charging stations!

Nice beach

By Nwhetstone215 |

This beach was nice, the water was clean, BUT parking was horrible. The beach opens at 9:30 its $8 per adult (over 15) we arrived at 11:00 and the parking was horrible and the beach didn't even seem that crowded. Anyway we had a good time, no boardwalk tho, some restaurants and ice cream shop tho

Fun Weekend at the Beach

By Albert F |

Parking is tough and expensive so get there early. Beach pass is $8 which is more than some other area beaches like Long Branch. You can try to find street parking but get there very early to find a spot. The Boardwalk and beach is beautiful and clean. Friendly people. Great bars (Colums is one and go for Happy Hour). Streets can get very busy with cars. Carducci Pizza was good. Bicycle parking is available. Love this beach and area.

Nice beach, very clean

By Cindy G |

This was my first trip to Belmar Beach. I am not a huge fan of the Jersey Shore but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The beach was very clean and not terribly crowded for a Sunday afternoon at the end of August. As with most (if not all) of the beaches at the Jersey Shore, beach tag/pass are required at a cost of $8 for a day pass. That, and cleanliness are my biggest gripes about the beaches at the Jersey Shore. That said, the beach was fairly large, dark yellow sand and very clean. We had no problem finding a place to spread a blanket, set up chairs and put up an umbrella. We brought our own but you can rent chairs and umbrellas there. The public restrooms are plentiful and relatively clean (for public restrooms). We got to the beach around 11 a.m. and had to park 5 blocks away. I can imagine at the height of the season and in the afternoon that parking would be non-existent. I would suggest bringing your own food. We sat around 4th Street and there was nothing close enough to walk to to get lunch. We held off an had an early dinner at one of the local seafood restaurants. I would absolutely go back to Belmar Beach for a day trip.

Very nice beach!

By Alice N |

Very clean beach... Not a fan of parking and purchasing beach tags but we found a spot and parked it. Very nice day and just a great beach to relax and take in the sights.

Disappointed with beach facilities

By Christine F |

Belmar is not the most friendly beach town. The beach is wide so it never feels really crowded, however, you get the feeling they do not want visitors. There is parking right near the beach; last summer is was $1.00/hour, now it is $2.00 per hour. Street parking is non-existent no matter how early you arrive. So many spaces are blocked off and the remaining spots are marked so few cars can actually fit.

The food choices are terrible, except for the trucks that now line the boardwalk since many businesses were destroyed. The best breakfast/lunch place is one of the trucks. The other places are old, dirty and not been updated in years.

The bathroom facilities are somewhat clean, however, to use the ladies room, there is always a long line as people are changing clothes in the bathrooms. There is a sign, which everyone ignore. There is an attendant, but I think she just cleans. On two occasions, the line was long and people were changing. Two women went to the attendant who was eating an ice cream cone and she did nothing. The next time the attendant was on the phone and signaled she was busy. Not sure what they are being paid for except to clean up maybe once every couple of hours.

It is too bad that these issues cannot be fixed and the town be more welcoming of the beach goers who pay most of the town expenses with the beach entrance fees and doubled parking fees. There is no welcome mat in Belmar.

Paying for beach is dumb

By exacta123 |

This is a beautiful beach and boardwalk. We walked the length of the beach on the boardwalk. We did not go on the beach itself. We are spoiled by beaches elsewhere because beaches should be free. We would rather go to any Florida beach for free than pay to go on a New Jersey beach.

Pretty but crowded

By Anna911 |

I am used to beaches a little further south where you don't see the crowds that this stretch brings in. It is quite common to have people five or six deep along the beach. Parking if you arrive after 10 a.m. on a nice summer day is quite the challenge. You need to either arrive early or be prepared to drive in circles while you search for a spot. The beach itself is pretty but it has a pretty steep drop off to the water at least at low tide. The sand is also a little on the rough side with a lot of fairly fine pieces of pebble and shell. You can walk on it but it can be uncomfortable at times. The boardwalk doesn't have quite as many options as you'll find in other towns although it is a great place for an early morning or late afternoon stroll.

Summer 2016

By David F |

Belmar Beach is a great beach to go for a day especially if coming from Bucks County PA. Easy access. Parking on weekends is hairy
Beach is well maintained. The boardwalk has been rebuilt and there are some food trucks as well as some area food places. They do have bathroom facilities, NO changing Daily Fees SR Citizen discount for season is available

Amazing

By Allen O |

Fantastic , the best breakfast ever , rooms clean and tidy, they give you towel for the beach ,and you can use their bikes

Beautiful Beach

By Neil K |

Pretty beach in Monmouth County. Runs about a mile long with a brand new Boardwalk. Belmar was devastated by Sandy but is back and getting better. No smoking on beach or boardwalk. Beware no liquor on beach. Though the signs say No Smoking, the signs about no liquor are not as conspicuous. Family play areas, volleyball nets are set up. Surfing and boogie boards in restricted areas. $8. Daily passes. Parking can be tough.

Stroll on the boardwalk

By Benzman79 |

Took a nice stroll along the boardwalk and enjoyed the breeze while taking in the scenery. Great stroll to take on a hot day with an ocean breeze.

Great Beach Day

By Luvs2TravelAnywhere |

A friend and I visited on Sunday for the Seafood Festival. The parking was a nightmare and the Mayor actually closed down the roads because it was so crowded. Aside from that, the beach and boardwalk were lovely. They have rebuilt the area and it looks much nicer.

Nice Place to Walk, Jog or Bike

By Howard B |

Nice place to walk, jog or bike. Folks are pretty easy to get along with and their are families during the day. Less family friendly at night but OK if family events are occurring there.

Beautiful and clean Belmar

By dianez2011 |

Belmar is beautiful. The boardwalk, rebuilt after Sandy, is so clean and easy to walk and bike on. While enjoying an early morning bike ride, we couldn't help but notice all the good morning greetings from the staff setting up for the day. What an awesome surprise on Friday 07/08 to see the magnificent Budweiser Clydesdales walking down Ocean Avenue! (Thanks to a tip from one of the friendly badge tenders who told us about it, so happy we didn't miss it!). Pier 9 on the other side of town was a great place to experience an awesome sunset and have a wonderful dinner. Belmar is our go-to Jersey shore town. Easy access from 195. We love it here!

Clean, safe beach

By Richie K |

Belmar Beach is awesome! The newly replaced boardwalk is easy on the feet and legs. Food trucks are along the route of Ocean Ave with plenty of rest rooms also. The beach was clean with garbage cans spaced about and emptied periodically during the day. The water was clean and all beachgoers were well behaved with no rowdiness. Definitely make a visit before the summer is out, but even in the offseason it seems like a friendly place to visit and see.

Great walking area for a nice Summer day

By Juan M |

I recommend this beach and boardwalk. Its very nice. I thought the Jersey Shore beaches were free, but they're not. Cost $9 to get on the beach, but it was cool. Great Place. I will return

A nice Labour Day family outing 🌞😎

By JimboSaundersfoot/Largs |

A lovely long sandy beach with beautiful boardwalk along street side and volley ball play courts on the flat top and protected grassland area for visiting rare birds at pier side and within easy access of bars and restaurants

After season

By Caroline L |

Went to beach I understand the life guards are watching the water but after they practically ran over my feet with the jeep mind you I am not on top of the water they choose to harass you the rest of the day and ride on top of you diisresptful at the least unbelievable very disappointing I ama local season pass holder uti will definitely be re thinking this next year

Basic Day at the Beach

By Ken789 |

If you like sand... and not much else... you'll love this beach. The boardwalk is long and well cared for. Few attractions along away. You have to pay to use the beach so make sure this is what you want to do. You are strongly encouraged to only swim where lifeguards are on duty and this is good advice. The day we were there, just up the beach two people were caught in a rip tide and had to be rescued - one taken to a hospital.

MY FAVORITE BEACH

By kim c |

Very clean beach. Beach rentals, beach passes very reasonable priced. My favorite beach on jersey shore.👍

Weekend Getaway!

By Caroline B |

My boyfriend and I visited Belmar beach this past summer for a weekend and stayed at the Belmar Inn. The beach was very clean, had ample lifeguards on duty and even had bathrooms for beach-goers! We didn't mind paying to get on the beach each day since parking was free. Although parking is free, I would recommend getting to the beach early to secure a space that is not too far of a walk! We had only one wish that could have made this trip more enjoyable and that would have been more food options right next to the boardwalk for a quick lunch while enjoying a day on the beach. Otherwise we had a great time relaxing with the sand between our toes!!

Beautiful Day

By tangi1 |

Took a day trip to Belmar for a change of pace. Quiet and peaceful in the off season. Easy parking and almost people free. I remember how busy this beach gets in the summer. Enjoyed the day

Cool Place

By Chris T |

The beach is great and there a many things to do. Their are food vendors on the boardwalk and directly across the street from the beach.

Sand not as smooth as elsewhere

By Norjeff2 |

Family friendly and quiet. Nice wide and friendly beach but the sand was more gritty and full of shells than other shore towns. Several volleyball courts and playgrounds. Boardwalk is wide but really meant for walking as no bikes or dogs are permitted. Moreover, there are really no stores or restaurants along the boardwalk.

Lots of birds waiting for food. Several public bathrooms available every few blocks.

Clean Beach

By Dan |

Still not sure why New Jersey makes us pay to get onto our beaches but Belmar Beach I must say is well maintained and clean. Not a lot to do on the boardwalk so don't expect it to be like a Seaside or a Wildwood. Good luck trying to find parking, you'll get a spot eventually just hope its not a mile away from the beach.

A Wonderful Place to Live

By Mary D |

Could never live anywhere else but Belmar! The nearness of the ocean, the sound of the waves, the friendly people in the area, the many wonderful eating spots, the closeness to the beach, marina, Shark River, and lakes all add up to making Belmar a perfect place to live.

Nice, Quiet, Clean Boardwalk

By GCT |

The boardwalk is beautiful. across the street there are all types of restaurants to eat at. You can park right along the board walk. You have to pay a couple bucks for the parking, at the machine.

Belmar

By Photonut |

Was a nice place for children. They loved the playground and clean beach. I was surprised no garbage cans on beach.

Coming back

By Sue S |

Belmar used to be a college young adult town. They have worked hard to change that and become a family place. Sandy wiped out the boardwalk. Much work has been done. The sand is coarse and police walk the beach in shoes and shorts. They look for drinking and smoking. it is not the beach of old.

Belmar

By Margo T |

Belmar a great bar A is terrible. Do not go there ever! The beach is a little crowded but anything is better then bar a!

Surprisingly room beach that is def family-friendly

By Eileen M |

Boosted by charming and kind residents of Belmar, the overall vibe is family friendly and responsible. Not hard to find spot on the beach, and everyone there seemed delighted. Walkable boardwalk made of that wood-looking high quality plastic material, it was easy to walk on and roomy. Lots of beach space and near several other charming beaches in walking distance. This was my first time but I'll be back to this area again!

Not bad, but certainly too crowded during summer months

By ameraroundtheworld |

Try Belmar in May or September, when the weather is good but when there is actual parking. Go any day in June - August, and you're guaranteed to be driving around for 45+ minutes searching for a spot, or you'll be parking far back as Main St. So not worth it.

Clean and Safe, Lots of Fun

By Winni Repetti |

Summer in Belmar is always busy at the beachfront. The beautiful restoration of the boardwalk following destruction during Sandy is being followed by a new Pavilion, a new Lifeguard Station, playgrounds, volleyball courts, ramps, disability access to the water, showers, fountains, bathroom facilities, charging stations, benches, etc.

Ideal Shore town

By Kevin G |

My family got so accustomed to driving 30 minutes to Belmar that we eventually decided to move there just a few years ago. It is a great town with a great beach. There are plenty of convenient attractions that are right on the beach that other beaches don't necessarily have, such as a Dunkin Donuts, Playa Bowls, exit 98, pizza restaurants, 7-11, while it also has nice sit-down restaurants with ocean views like La Dolce Vida and La Terrazza. Near the bay, you can also try parasailing through Belmar Parasail or go on a deep sea charter fishing boat. I should not leave out that if you do in fact visit Belmar during the summer, you MUST go to Strollo's for their famous soft-served Italian Ice (you can thank me later). Although Belmar is quite known for attracting a younger crowd, there is plenty of attractions for people of all ages.

Great walk

By TimZam |

This is a great place to walk and maybe have a bite or a drink around ! Also there is a couple of souvenirs shops!!

Stunning beach and views

By Jack M |

A large clean beach with plenty of room to stretch out with the family or friends and plenty of parking available. Loads of restaurants nearby to grab lunch or a drink! Among the best beaches at the Jersey Shore.

Simple beauty

By William V |

A gorgeous view. We did not swim due to the cooler weather, but the water was blue and clear. We lucked out and happened to be on the beach as the kite festival was setting up. I would definitely be interested to see how it looks during the summer season, though we definitely enjoyed our off season visit.

Best NJ beach

By brenhem |

Best NJ beach. Clean, well kept, family friendly. Boardwalk is beautiful and just boardwalk. No rides and carnival atmosphere. Exactly what we wanted. Very nice area.

The best thing for us on Belmar's Jersey Shore Boardwalk are the choices

By ZERO-NONSENSE |

The best thing we happen to enjoy about walking on Belmar's Jersey Shore Boardwalk are the convenience and choices of multiplicity assortment-selection of the varieties of establishments and eateries just across the street as you stroll along the Belmar portion of their Boardwalk at their Jersey Shore.

Cleanest, nicest beach

By Linda C |

Wonderful community, beautiful beach, never ending Boardwalk.
Extremely clean bathrooms.
Truly a fantastic haven. Can't wait to return.

We were impressed

By jomar75 |

We were impressed with the beach, since we have not been here in years to see it this clean you would wonder if you were in New Jersey or an island far away. The fairly new board walk is great in that the artificial boards are much safer for bare feet. This beach has a calmer effect in that there is plenty of space for every one.

One of the best beaches around, in and out of season.

By Frank Masters |

We come here twice a year for lunch and to relax on, or walk on the beach. No beach tags out of season, free parking too. Just 75 miles from Suburban Philadelphia (Lansdale), Its non stop once you get on the turnpike and get within a couple of miles from the Belmar.
We have lunch at one of the nearby restaurants, relax or walk on the beach and head home after we stop for salt water taffy on 10th avenue.
I never saw such tall waves along the Jersey shore as I have seen this trip. Very nice beach too.

Free after Labor Day

By Shelly |

Spent a weekend at Belmar after Labor Day and it was free. Bathrooms were clean! Parking was easy to find. Great beach to get to from Trenton.

NICE CLEAN BEACH

By kim c |

Went during the week for the day. Clean beach. Nice people. Parking is limited but if you get there early should have no problem. Parking is 2.00 an hour and 10.25 for beach pass. Well worth it!! Nice beach to take the family.

A nice place for a day trip.

By john63eric |

Belmar was a great beach for a day trip to the shore. The beach was clean and happy plenty of room to relax. Fair warning: there is not enough parking and very little food choices. Get there early and bring everything you will need. It's also $8 per person but well worth it for a nice day trip.

Good beach for the day

By SO194 |

Came from North Jersey for the day and we decided to stop at the Belmar Beach. The beach passes cost $8/per adult and kids under 15 are free. They take cash and credit so you are covered .
While the beach was clean I found the new sand annoying as it is rough and filled with rocks , it's also very hot -but I guess they had to fill it with something ! Make sure you have shoes on when you walk on the sand or your feet will burn.
The bathrooms were clean and well appreciated as our drive down was over 1 1/2 hour .
The waves were amazing and so if you are looking for a beach to go to , it was a good day trip.

Belmar Beach

By Gerald442 |

Expensive beach badges and expensive parking. List a mile long what u can't do on the beach and boardwalk like smoking a cig or reading a newspaper. Not my Idea of a relaxing day.

I love this beach, but I disdain the fact that you have to pay to enter a beach.

By TennisStar602 |

I have been coming to Belmar and Spring Lake for over thirty (30) years. Both of these beaches are very clean, very peaceful, and very safe. There is tons of free parking on the streets. I love to take swims in the ocean, and it is fun to ride the waves. Individuals can sign up for surf lessons. I enjoy the ability to take walks on the boardwalks and on the sand, and I like to get food at D’Jais and other local eateries. There are also public bathrooms available. I just think that it is so disgusting to charge people admission to use these beaches. I do not want the services of the lifeguards and the police, and I wish that these beaches were free to the public. I also think that it is wrong that some beaches will not allow you to bring a cooler onto the beach.

A wonderful beach

By NShelton93 |

Belmar is a very clean location that does not get overcrowded in the summer. I think it is hard to ask for more. The options for restaurants in the area are a bit limited. Parking can be a bit of a pain as well, otherwise it really is a perfect location to relax and enjoy the summer sun.

Beautiful beach and lovely town

By Corrado T |

The beach is very clean and well maintained, the boardwalk nice (although missing some attractions) but the gem here is the city of Belmar, so nice and clean!

Beautiful Beach

By Luvs2TravelAnywhere |

The Belmar Beach and Boardwalk are beautiful! If I had to rate the beaches from Asbury to Spring Lake, Belmar and Avon by the Sea would be tied for # 1. They are better in May and September as I do not like crowds and Belmar gets packed. From June thru August, Spring Lake and Bradley Beach slightly better. Just my humble opinion...

An escellent beach

By Hermann Schroeder |

This is a nice well kept beach, during the Summer you will enjoyn it. You will need to bring everything that is needed to enjoy a nice day at the beach. The restrooms are kept very clean. If you come late it will be hard to find a parking space since the beach is very popular and many people go there daily. There are also several restaurants to choose from.

A Disneyland kind of beach

By fauxmaven |

The beach is super clean, but there is a strong undertow. I would not let children under 10 go in water alone. There are lifeguards. Everything is super clean and well maintained. Parking here in Belmar is a killer! VERY hard.

Great time

By Joe C |

Went down for the day on my motorcycle what a beautiful beach very clean great Boardwalk great restaurants in area. A much slower pace than other Jersey beaches but still a very good time

Be lmar for seniors

By Julie W |

Have to pay for parking, hard to find parking. some people like the rocking benches. Farther walk to ocean from boardwalk then spring lake.

Inconvenient changes

By OksanaDE |

We have been visiting the beach since 2003. After Sandy destroyed it, the changes to buy passes are really annoying! They used to sell them at entrances, but now we have to get them at kiosks, and at entrances they only check to make sure you have passes! We always manage to find free parking a block away, which is a plus! Water surprisingly still very cold for August! Fare well until next summer!

Summertime Happiness!!

By Willie Acosta |

This is a great beach to head down to for all your summertime activities!
Clean beaches and clean warm waters for surfing or boogie boarding!
Grade a food at many restaurants or from the gourmet food trucks on the boardwalk, It's a fun time had by all!

Nice beach

By LoveCamel |

Well maintained clean beach with boardwalk quiet weekdays, nice place to walk around enjoy summer !!!

Clean and Inviting

By Marc |

Great place to walk on the beach or on the long boardwalk. Great for the family too! Most of the food options are along Main St.

Hanging out at the beach with my love!

By Shantamr36 |

I haven’t been to the beach in a few years. Life kinda took over. I had to many work responsibilities, home duties, and failed to get to the place that brings me to much peace.
I absolutely love this beach. It’s only 1.5 hours from my home. Parking is great. The people are nice, the beach is clean, the fee is reasonable, the bathrooms are attended too. I can go on and one. I love it. I am so happy we decided to visit this beach today.

Parking a B

By laurie c |

Parking is always a problem, but once your parked all's well. I went two weeks ago to the 14 th ave beach and I was happy, clean and nice crowd of people. But this Sunday I parked by the lake and went to the 8th ave beach and what I liked better about it was the water and sand bar. At high tide you can go out far and the water is still shallow, at low tide there is a sand bar that is good for young children. Over all a good experience.

Lovely beach, new boardwalk

By unicorn3 |

Belmar has a long and lovely beach, with some sections quiet and tranquil and others filled with active families. Their boardwalk is new, the old one having been destroyed by a hurricane. Oddly, Belmar still refuses to put up protective sand dunes, even though such dunes did much to save neighboring Bradley Beach from the same hurricane. Also odd is the lack of any railings alongside elevated portions of the boardwalk, so watch your step!

Beach Day

By nunnun2017 |

Nice beach, clean, beautiful, nice place for a day trip, ocean temp was perfect. Kids had a great time

Could be cleaner.

By DarleneAndSal |

Spending the days down by the shore are nice, but when there is trash everywhere and cigarette butts all around, it can be dissapointing at the same time. Staff should really step their game up, especially if the parking fees are charging you to be there, you should at least have a clean place to walk to and from the beach.

Nice walk

By 622eagle |

This is a nice boardwalk to walk. The boardwalk is relatively new since the old boardwalk was destroyed by superstorm Sandy. There are several places to eat across the street from the boardwalk. The beach is good and the beach admission price and season badge is less than some of the neighboring towns.

NJ Shore september

By tennisfireworks |

What a beautiful beach! Long sandy beach, amenities nearby, showers, bathrooms. Boardwalk nice long walk, not crowded this time of year. Some nice restaurants, plenty of parking. Very nice community! Hope to visit again next summer.

Awesome beach!

By Deirdre Tampa |

We come here every year. They have upgraded the walk to the beach path - hurrah. Makes it easier to drag things to the beach. Well maintained and bathrooms close by. We love it!!

Get Away

By christina C |

We absolutely Loved the town of Belmar. Quaint and serene!! Perfect for a couples get away. Awesome Italian restaurant. We celebrated 13 years of marriage. I couldn't have planned a nicer place to stay in New Jersey that wasn't too far from home, but yet far enough from home.

Good clean beach, disappointed that boogie boards are not allowed.

By 101RajR |

It is a good, clean family-friendly beach we all enjoyed. Kids were really disappointed that boogie boards were not allowed, its not posted anywhere but the lifeguards have the kids put it away. We later learned that they allow boogie boards near 3 of the 19 avenues only, I don't understand why.

Beautiful Beach

By LuckieLita |

Our first time here but NOT our last! What a beautiful, peaceful, clean beach! It is expansive with beautiful, clean non-commercial boardwalk and within walking distance from our Inn. We even stumbled across a kite festival during our visit and it was spectacular to see! I would highly recommend this beach for your relaxing getaway for family, couples or anyone! It even had a fenced in park area for kids!

Quiet walk on boardwalk

By doug6458 |

Me and my girlfriend walked the boardwalk on a Friday evening. Just park off the main road so there is no charge. No crowded and very relaxing to walk here. A few joggers and others walking. The bathrooms are clean and plentiful.
A favorite place for us to walk.

Easy day trip from Philadelphia

By Michelle F |

Belmar is a nice beach not too far from Philadelphia. There are many beaches close and this one is our favorite so far. There is a charge of 8 dollars to access the beach witch is a small price to pay to know the beach is going to be comfortable and clean. Parking was not too bad since we came later in the afternoon and many people were leaving. We would definitely return.

Friendly peaceful quiet

By Evan L |

The addition of playa bowls was amazing love it here! I love how peaceful the beach is and the atmosphere is amazing!

This is an excerpt from an piece I wrote for NJ Lifestyle Magazine

By Dennis H |

Sometimes, when you’re road tripping, there’s nothing better than a road trip back home. I’m originally from Belmar, in Monmouth County. The name Belmar is a corruption of the Italian words “bel mare,” meaning "beautiful sea” and beautiful it is! Belmar is a short drive from New York and Philadelphia and a popular summer destination with its natural and recreational resources. Belmar boasts some of the state’s best events too; such as their annual Seafood Festival, May 17-19, and Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, March 3, which is one of the state’s largest. What began in 1974, with approximately one-thousand spectators, has grown immensely into a celebration of everything Irish with more than 5,000 marchers and 200,000 spectators! Belmar also has some fabulous shops and restaurants. It’s home to bake shops, a vintage vinyls store, cigar shop and more. Foodies will delight in the varied dining spots.

East Coast Getaway

By iamlouise77 |

What could be a better way to travel but to do it with a local who lives and breathes in NJ? Belmar Beach has awesome waves, warm water and just simply relaxing. Don't forget to dine in at Kleins and The Columns. Kleins has happy hour for drinks and appetizer. My man brought me to the best part of New Jersey and exhilarates me with anything he does. It was windy and drizzling when we were there and the waves though not big were crazy. It's the best time to play on the sand and run at the boardwalk like little kids.

nice day trip

By Anthony C |

well i go to the beach there very often usually like once a week in the summer months its great for seniors because beach badge is only $15 per season, beachs are well kept if you get there early during the week you can find free parking on the street if not you pay by the hour.

Expansive beach, great for families.

By Navigator21240505262 |

This area has been completely redone due to a past hurricane. Great play area for children and many eateries directly across the street. Easily walkable. The best is the boardwalk which goes from one community to the next. You can even ride bikes on it in the off season, which can be rented.for a reasonable price. Or you can park your beach chair and watch the surfers. Go early to secure parking.

Beautiful Beach

By Mindy S |

We spent a day with family at Belmar Beach and had a wonderful time. The beach was very clean which is very important to us. There were plenty of shops, etc. so if you needed a break from the sun there is plenty to do. I love that there is no smoking on the beach!

Beach fun

By danap3766 |

Relaxed on the beach. Saw a school of dolphin. Very clean. Nice people. Plenty of restaurants and places to go to get out of the sun.

if your 21, you will love it

By matthewsnana |

it is a very large beach, during the summer its like being at spring break in miami. not a family beach, alot of roudie 21 year olds from the near by states. they take over with major attitude. you must pay for parking along with beach fees. nothing to do after beach but drink at local hangouts.

Beach Day

By Mark19056 |

$2.00 per hour to park next to boardwalk. Beach was clean with clean restrooms parked at 11th ave guarded beach. Life guards had an attitude and not too friendly.. they should realize that they have to deal with the public. Get the early for a good spot with your blanket or towel but make sure you go back to the boards to buy your daily badge or the rent a cops will remind you and maybe write you a citation... 8 bucks for adults kids free

Surf, sun and sand

By steakbelly |

Does it get any better than a day at the beach. The sun was hot the water cool and the waves non stop. Belmar is one of my favorite places to be. No matter what season.

Belmar Beauty

By Mary M |

Stunning beach, quaint village, beautiful boardwalk. What more could you want? This is a great place to get the Jersey Shore experience.

Belmar Boardwalk

By Frank F |

As a decades long visitor to the shore from Monroe in Middlesex, I have to admit that Belmar has improved quite a bit over the years.
Especially, along Ocean Ave. where the old bungalows have been razed and replaced by newer more modern homes. For dining, we prefer La Dolce Vita for Italian and Klein's on the Shark River for seafood.

Breathtaking

By cjdauphin |

Love this place. Hands down the cleanest beach I've ever seen. Accommodates everybody - families with kids, younger crowd looking for a good time, and middle agers just looking to relax in some awesome scenary.

No words. Just see it for yourself.

Better for younger crowd

By Salvatore F |

A younger crowd may give this a higher rating, and so they should. But for families and older folks, there are better alternatives. In the end it is your choice.

Clean and Peaceful place

By DulanCJ |

This is a very clean beach and a great place to have a vacation. There are some very good apartments all around the area to have a peaceful time with the family.

Belmar is truly the beautiful (bel) Sea (mar)

By asharkgirlNewJersey |

Brand new boardwalks and these wonderful Adirondack rocking chairs, single and double- great place for sunrise. Beaches are wide and soft sand fully replenished. Lots of surfing, fishing etc. south end better for young single crowd, north end much more quiet and peaceful.

Beach OK,: Cops on patrol not so much

By Daniel G |

Season badge holder in Bradley Beach. Beach less crowded than neighboring Ocean Grove, at least at the north end. Beach clean and well tended. Two problems: if you enter from the north end and don't have a season badge and the ticket booth there is not open (which is often), it is a LONG walk to get a badge. Suggestion: in Ocean Grove (unlike Bradley) all gate attendants sell badges. But your badge right next door in OG if the Bradley booth is closed and just walk over to Bradley once on the beach. Second problem: aggressive, apparently not well trained 'special officers' patrolling the beach. They will ask you to open your cooler (I assume so that they can check for alcoholic beverages). You DO NOT have to do it. They have no warrant to search and no probable cause. Just politely tell them you prefer not to. But chances are if you're white they won't ask you anyway.

Day trip!

By belinda s |

We had taken a spur of the moment day trip to this beach via advice from a friend. Let me tell you, we all had a great time! Thankfully, the weather was on our side😁. I had visited other beaches in New Jersey, and I think this was hands down one of the cleaner areas I've seen. Lifeguards were on duty during our whole stay and absolutely on their toes in regards to patrons safety. I will most definitely be making a repeat visit in the future!!

Wonderful experience!!

By Julie |

Beautiful beach!! Great for families. Very clean and easy access to boardwalk. Definitely going back.

Nice peaceful... though South shores better

By Pra M |

Very simple, peaceful... great waves, relatively clean beaches..., plenty of accommodation and some nice (though few) broad-walk options. Good for peace ...maybe my choice is peace with a few more options

Good place to watch the inner city sunbathe!

By Emmet |

Ok place. Too crowded. go further south for clean water and uncrowded beaches. No place to park either. Beach badges a bit pricey.

Belmar is the Jersey Shore

By Stephan L |

If your looking to experience the Jersey shore then Belmar beach is the best place to sea, taste, feel it all.

Beach walking

By Jack C |

Dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk, but they are allowed on the beach itself! I enjoyed my walk from Belmar down to Spring Lake and back. Highly recommend!

Wedding weekend

By Nancy M |

Went down to the beach for a much needed walk after a long ride from Maine. We were pleased that it wasnt crowded ..I'm sure in the summer would be very crowed..For us it was a nice visit.

Clean beach with good facilities

By ladyright |

We love spending the day in Belmar! The beach is clean and there are good bathroom facilities as well as stores to buy beach accessories and food . Parking can be difficult on weekends but on a weekday, we easily found a spot in front of the beach for $2.00 per hour. The section we were on had a very nice playground for our grandchildren. You can also rent chairs and umbrellas. A much better experience than the beach at Pt. Pleasant!

Welcome to the best of the Jersey Shore!

By JFazz1234 |

You just have to experience a walk on the boards in Belmar to understand why this is heaven! Parking is difficult to come by in the height of the season, but the beach is beautiful. Lots of places to eat and enjoy and public restrooms are clean.

Beyond Clean, Nice people!

By Mitchell V |

You can't go wrong with this beach. It is clean. There are very clean bathrooms on nearly every block. And the people there are terrific. The only downside is that you have to pay to get on the beach... but that's probably why it's so clean, and there's no riff-raff there! So chalk up a few bucks and go have a nice day! There is a boardwalk, along the beach, but there are no stores on it. It is strictly a walking boardwalk. You can ride bikes on it until 9 am. There are a few stores and places to eat, but not many!

Beautiful

By Chicnlittle |

What a beautiful beach town. I'm a Florida beach lover so it takes a lot to impress me, but Belmar Beach and Boardwalk did just that!!! Wow! Boardwalk has been rebuilt recently and is so nice. The homes along the shoreline are spectacular. We were there during the seafood festival so it was really crowded, but still one of the prettiest beach towns I've ever seen.

LAZY SUMMER DAYS

By sophiegirl0814 |

We have been visiting Belmar for over 30 years. Its definitely our favorite. Boardwalk is beautiful and beach is kept clean with ample bathroom stations. There are restaurants to get a bite conveniently located across the street.

Brand New Boardwalk with Million Dollar Views...Really!

By Jmesis |

The Belmar Boardwalk is brand new and it attracts walkers, joggers and the opportunity to view the ocean while sitting on the various benches. There is plenty of parking and free restrooms right on the boardwalk. There are plenty of places to eat on the strip and you can admire the multi-million dollar homes facing the water.

Clean and family friendly

By Jodi C |

Nice options to eat, plenty of bathrooms and family friendly. Boardwalk is new and pavilion is aw well

Nice Beach !

By shine82h |

Pretty good beach. Is quite clean. has a pretty decent boardwalk as well. They sometimes even play movies during summer nights. Has few rocky stones and steps which makes for good photographs as well. Kids had a good time ! Lotsa parking options too.

Awww helzzzz no!!! Steep beach going into water

By dori e |

Nice crowd and boardwalk, however my 2 and 4 yr old hated it. There was such a drop from sand to water and barely anywhere to stand for kids to stand comfortable and play in water. Sand was too hot to walk on for shell searching. You can't even walk along water because of the angle your walking at. People with balance issues wouldn't like it. Very difficult getting down to water and standing at water. I spoke to fiends that said the same thing about belmar beach with similarly aged kids not liking it because they couldn't play without hanging on mom/dad's arms for dear life. The best part of our trip was walking back to the car lol, sad to say but true. We were all ready to get out of there.

Spring lake beach

By Neela K |

Spring lake is a beautiful town. Quiet beach. Not many restaurants. Just a pizza place, a coffee shop and a sandwich place which is probably why the beach isn’t crowded.
It was sunny , 77 degrees. Yet it was windy on the beach.

Good times

By LawsOfMurph |

Beach was crowded, but very clean! Don't see that often. It did cost money to get beach passes which was a bummer.
Very close to some exciting restaurants.
Parking is on the surrounding streets and it was a nightmare! Took over 20 minutes to find a spot. We ended up following a group who were leaving.

Love the beach and boardwalk itself though. Definitely worth the trip.

Relaxing

By NativeNuuYorker |

The sand is soft and clean. The ocean temperature is warm and there's no jellyfish or seaweed. Nice and relaxing day off work. Very much needed.

Beautiful Town

By Nick F |

Great town to enjoy the surf and beach any time of year! Spring, summer, fall or winter it’s alway great to enjoy this wonderful town.

Belmar Beach at its finest. Off season of course

By Frank Masters |

The beach was clean and the coast line was probably 100 yards or so to the waters edge. Metered parking is available right along the boardwalk. The boardwalk is not the 100 year old wood planks that use to support the beach goers of the past.

Impossible parking

By Katherine G |

The beach if wide, ocean is great, but the parking in Belmar is awful. Get there early or be prepared to ride around looking for a spot if you can find one.

Stayed at the Saltwater Inn near boardwalk

By brinkkevinh |

Great place to stay. Walked on the relaxing boardwalk. Wonderful shops and eating places. Will visit again\!

Breathtaking

By posada2004 |

Enjoyed the sunny days. Sitting on the clean sand and lifeguards very visible and readily available during rip current events

September is the best time to walk!

By krocking123 |

Clean level board walk. You can enjoy this walk early in the morning before the slow walkers get home n your way. Great to enjoy in the month of sept when the renters have all left

Wonderful seaside walk

By 938tmk |

Boardwalk is great place for a long seaside walk. Very pedestrian friendly. Short walk from the Tandem Bike Inn.

Bad Beach Day

By cityshoregirl |

We were very disappointed with Belmar Beach today at 5th Avenue. We observed the lifeguards advise parents of children that they would need to go to 7th Avenue to use boogie boards. Fine. Rules are rules. However, we noticed some far more annoying behavior that was ignored by the guards. A group of young men sitting near the water and within site of the lifeguard stand were openly drinking beer out of glass bottles and half burying the bottles in the sand. They also played their music very loudly. Though we had been there before they arrived, we left. They were also smoking and rather loud. I do not think the life guards wanted to challenge them. We try to get to the beach once a week. Lately, we have witnessed a lot of loud, annoying music. I feel these are behaviors that should be addressed. Guards could alert the local police and have them deal with it. I definitely believe they observed everything.

Love Belmar

By William G |

Have enjoyed Belmar since being a child with my parents. Highly recommend it to all. Go early to get a parking space along the boardwalk or go for early morning coffee. It’s delightful.

Nice beach day

By LilyPad250 |

This is a nice beach to visit. A little crowded, but has nice sand, a life guard, outdoor shower and water fountain, volleyball net and some kind of walkway so you don't burn your feet. I like that you can call and have chairs and/or umbrellas delivered for a fee. Tags were $8 I think, and kids under 13 were free. It would be nice to have a big bath house with more showers, but what can you do?

Not for families with young kids.

By Jean M |

Young adult party beach. Lots of food options. Parking gets hellacious on Saturdays. Nice new bathrooms and boardwalk.

Wide and Inviting Beach

By Tucmar |

Great NJ beach without rides and games. Boardwalk is outstanding for walking and jogging. Nice kids playgrounds on beach every few blocks. Illegal to smoke on beach. Has a number of handicap access ramps. Parking on weekends is tough if not there early. Food trucks and concessions available. North side of town is family oriented with an active beach volleyball culture. South side is more NJ Shore Show wannabee culture with a surfboard and kayak beach.

Great place !

By A_Top_Reviewer |

The beach and boardwalk are great and very nice. Overall a quiet and enjoyable time. The beach is quite clean as well.

Best NJ Beach

By Richard S |

I went to Belmar Beach a lot as a kid and it was great to see that it hasn't changed. Great family beach.

Fun and clean and quaint Victorian seaside houses near beach

By goodfoodrocks77 |

I have been to this area and boardwalk many times to dream, to reflect, to enjoy outside concerts and kite festivals...it is kept very clean and people are friendly and lots of families and people from all walks of life...

Bowardwalk Enjoyment

By Thomas M |

The boardwalk in Belmar is just a segment of a multi-mile beach front boardwalk that extends from Spring Lake up through Avon-by-the sea, Bradley beach and actually crossing a few blank spots all the way to Asbury Park.

A Hidden Gem on the Jersey Shore!

By MSW |

Belmar Beach is one of my favorite spots for a low-stress beach day. It’s super accessible—whether you’re taking the train or driving, it’s easy to get to and parking is usually pretty easy to find. The beach itself is clean and well-maintained, and there’s plenty of space to spread out and relax.

One of the best parts is how close it is to downtown Belmar. Just a short walk from the sand, you’ll find tons of cute shops, cafes, and restaurants. It’s perfect for grabbing a coffee before hitting the beach or enjoying a bite to eat after a day in the sun. The whole area has a laid-back, welcoming vibe that makes it great for both day trips and weekend getaways.

Highly recommend if you're looking for a beach that’s easy to navigate and has a little bit of everything nearby!

Family swimming place

By Lovetogarden52 |

Beach is clean and is very family oriented. There are no rides or concessions there only places to eat

Great Family Beach !

By Asad I |

We have been going to Belmar, NJ for a few years now but this time I thought that it is time for a review.

The Beach is very family oriented and about 45-60 mins from Central Jersey. The boardwalk is beautiful and the facilities are great.

The Beach is very clean with ample trash cans.

Great Family Beach !

Tip: The beach is free after 5:00 pm

Fabulous beach and boardwalk

By Maria del Carme... Z |

This beach has a double option, be at the crowded, noisy area good for our teenagers where they find music and restaurants or be at the peaceful area good for us adults. The boardwalk is well maintained and no bikes, dogs or skates are allowed. This makes it safe to walk and enjoy the views without worrying. As I mentioned, all beaches are beautiful. There is an entrance fee, $7 I believe but worth it. Go early to find good and close parking on the street, however after noon families with children leave early and there is plenty of parking. You can bike on the street to nearby towns and go over the bridge which is fun to watch the boats go by under it.

Best walking board walk

By gymlady30 |

So much to see and watch. Start at spring lake arches and travel north into Avon to the north end pavilion and back its 4 miles bathrooms open unlike other boards . Lots to view and see feel safe ! Try it and enjoy. This of course is year round

Better than expected

By Leerie |

Excellent boardwalk you can stroll up and down all day long and listen to the waves. Nothing more relaxing than a day at the beach! Went after Labor Day and was very serene, I’d expect it to be packed during the summer though.

Best beach in Northern NJ

By Masi020 |

My wife & I spent most of this past weeken at Belmar beach this past Labor Day weekend. The weather was mostly nice. The beach is clean & handicap accessible.

Nice

By D2tex |

I am new to visiting New Jersey beaches. My daughter is in college in NJ, so we have visited her a few times and as I love the shore we try to make a trip to different beaches when we go to visit. We spent a day at Belmar on August 22. The beach is lovely, large and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. The boardwalk is in great shape, and bathrooms are plentiful and also so clean. However, there just wasn't a lot to do. Shops were generic, food wasn't very interesting, IMO. The Italian ice at Strollos was great though!!! I personally enjoyed Asbury Park and Ocean Grove more than Belmar.

Racist

By Delisa Roman |

We are a family of 7, Obviously African American otherwise this wouldn’t have happened. we came to Belmar because we’ve heard great things about how clean the beach was, walking on to the beach one of our children realized she forgot something in the car, the car was only parked across the street, the other kids started waking on to the beach, my husband followed them on as they couldn’t hear us from the boardwalk to let them
Know we were leaving because there were no more beach tags, one of the security checkers stood at the top of the boardwalk and yelled profanity at my husband , as he walked up to clarify that he was just getting the kids the tag checker egged on a fight and then told my husband “ I’m here all day until 5” insinuating a fight as he ran to get cops, the police Were called by the other tag checker and she let the cops know “ there’s a group barging on to the beach” our kids are all under the age of 12. Kids he cops then attempted to follow us along the board walk until we left, this type of racism and blatant agitation is Cowardice and uncalled for! BELMAR YOUR POLICE ARE RACIST

relaxing and busy without being frantic

By jenjimlef |

I have been here with husband and often my son's and sometimes friends many times over the last 10 years. This has a lovely clean beach that my husband and I enjoy taking long walks on, spring, summer, fall. Have not really come in winter, but up to November in good weather. The boardwalk does not have an amusement park area, but we tend to prefer that. My young adult children enjoy it , but now sometimes want a location with more varied activities. If you walk the boardwalk up from the beach there are businesses you can get an ice cream, drink (yes, the adult kind, too), or a meal or snack. There are some good restaurants in the area, especially in town. Restrooms and changing areas are busy, but they have cleaners during the day, too. The cost in the season is similar to nearby beaches, but free after lifeguards are done for the day or off season (less safe swimming though, and we have seen rescues), parking can be a walk on busy days if you don' t get lucky, but then again you might get some shade a few blocks away. Lots of places to rent there, too, although we have not. Enjoy!

Very Nice beach and clean water - Parking is a nightmare

By Joe C |

Belmar Beach is a really nice beach - soft sand, clean and really clean water.
It get's VERY crowded on weekends so if you can go during the week and avoid the weekend - do so.

The parking - terrible. Better get there early to find a spot, otherwise - good luck.

Enjoy !!!

Labor day weekend

By ebo1984 |

We arrived at 9:30am so parking was a breeze. Picked a great spot and watched the kids play in the ocean while I got some much needed relaxation

Wonderful!

By Susan G |

My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend at the Saltwater Inn and everything was perfect! The hosts, Joyce and Marty, are gracious and so engaging; the accommodations were perfect and the breakfasts were delicious (and the aromas wafting through the house in the morning were a great 'wake up' call!). We WILL be back next year! Would highly recommend the Saltwater Inn.

Very Clean Beach

By AnilNemani2015 |

Visited the Belmar beach along with family on 23rd June 2018. The Beach and Boardwalk are extremely clean. The washrooms also are maintained very well. This is a place one should visit.

Great Place to go and be socially distant from other people. Just get there early in the morning.

By Noah O |

Place is great for the family even during the whole Covid-19 crisis. The beach has a limited number of people allowed. So you have to make sure that you get there first thing in the morning or you are not going to get in. We got there at 9 am and the first beach we went to was full. Thank god for Belmar. Everyone was respectful of your space. nobody is wearing masks on the beach though. FYI. I can't wait to get back next weekend.

Still too many tents

By Christine F |

There is a sign when you enter the beach no tents between Memorial Day and Labor Day and yet there they are all over the beach. You get to the beach early to get a good spot by the water to see the waves and someone comes and plops a tent down right in front of you and you can spend your day looking at the back end of a tent. There was almost a fight last week between people who set up their chairs early to see the water and then later a tent sets up right in front of them. They asked the people if they could move right or left of them and the tent people said no and just set up. For our $9, we want to see ocean and waves.

Here's an idea, if you are not going to enforce the rules at least have the tents set up right at the boardwalk so they do not block anyone. This way those of us with umbrellas and chairs [normal beach stuff] can enjoy the water and the campsite can be together. Might also be good to move the loud music people there too!

Clean but over crowded

By spmaddress |

Belmar is one of many beach choices you can make in the summer. What's most attractive of this town is its convenience to central Jersey. While its an hour plus to Seaside Heights or Toms River and 2 to Wildwood, you can get your toes in the sand quickly in Belmar. This is why I like it for mid week refreshment. Forget the weekends here as the place gets overly packed with tourists and families that there is no parking and no beach room to enjoy yourself. Go to another beach for the weekends but use Belmar for that quick getaway on a Wednesday when you want to blow off work. Dont forget the ridiculous $8 beach badge charge for the "public" beach. Park off beach and save some $$ for lunch. Quick eat places all over but no real nice restaurant on the beach here. You gotta go up to Main St for that. What a waste.

Beautiful Beach ideal for the family

By GC41 |

Visited with my 3 children, aged 12, 10 and 3. We all preferred this beach to Point Pleasant which we had visited the week before. My 2 daughters aged 12 & 10 spent the day in the warm sea playing among the waves. $8 for adults, no charge for children under 15. Beach stretches for 20 Avenues with really nice and new boardwalk. Visited restrooms at 6pm and they exceeded Disney standards - good job! Depending on when you go, parking can be a challenge particularly on the ocean front where you pay, go 1 or 2 blocks back and its free and easier to find a spot. Overall beautiful beach without the crowds and commercialism found at Point Pleasant. Lets hope it stays that way!!

Senior Citizens Welcome!

By Brian A |

The senior citizen summer pass is $15.00. How can you beat that? Beaches are clean and well patrolled.

Great for running

By Tim G |

The boardwalk is a great place to run or walk. Very well lit. I run at night and is very safe place Brand new boards.

Bradley Beach at Sunset

This was breath taking! Very windy, chilly day even had a few surfers out on the waves! But look at this view!!!

Awesome board walk

By ExplorerSavio |

Perfect for a stroll or jog. Board walk looks newly renovated. Metered Parking available right by the board walk. Great place for kids and family.

Had a good time

By Ryan |

This is a nice beach, but if you arrive at 11:30am on a Sunday be prepared to park a mile away. For the most part people had their masks on before entering the beach, but once you hit the sand absolutely no one had masks on. I spent all of time in the ocean so it didn't bother me much, but if you're worried about that then don't go to any public beach. Other than that the beach is very nice and so is the surrounding area!

sunday afternoon walk

By mliebau |

Walked Belmar boardwalk on Sunday along with many other people happy to be out the weekend following a blizzard. Very nice large boardwalk.

Out of season free

By Linda P |

Beautiful sand, large beach, new boardwalk. Still out of season and port a johns in use for bathrooms. They were disgusting and the garbage by end of day was spilling out of cans at street level. Hard to imagine summer crowds.

Great jersey shore destination

By 973rooster |

Belmar has a clean and nice beach. It costs $8 per person to go on to the beach and kids under 12 are free. The blocks between 13th and 18th have the young adult crowd during the summer but the rest of the beach quieter and great for families. There are enough eateries, casual and more formal, but it's not overwhelmingly packed with restaurants.

Fantastic boardwalk - great walking for exercise

By Traveller |

I walked on the Belmar NJ boardwalk many times during August 2020. It is about two miles long so a round trip is four miles. To the north end is a bridge between Belmar and Avon by the Sea and the Belmar fishing pier. In the middle is the Taylor Pavilion and Cruz Bay Cafe as well as Silver Lake. To the south are some shops and restaurants and the entrance to Spring Lake. The boardwalk is very wide and it is great for walking and exercise. Sometimes I went very early in the morning - about 7 am and sometimes I went late at about 6 pm. The views of the beach and ocean are very nice. In terms of COVID19 safety, some people wore masks but many did not. If you are alert while walking then you can social distance. All in all the Belmar NJ boardwalk is a great place.

A Really Nice Beach and Boardwalk

By HenryChin |

After dinner a Dolce Vita we crossed Ocean Avenue to the boardwalk. It's been a while that I've visited this boardwalk but I have to say it is really nice. It had been refurbished since hurricane Sandy. It is wide for all the foot traffic. On the west side of Ocean ave are gorgeous homes, on the east side is the boardwalk and a wide expanse of beach. On this night there was a southern rock band entertaining.

If you haven't been to this beach be sure to go soon. A reminder though, parking is free on the western side of Ocean Avenue. Metered parking on the eastern side at $2 an hour till 7 PM.

Chillin at the beach:)

By Sharon Slickis |

Just taking time to breathe and look at the beautiful blue ocean and soft sand. Belmar has it all. The fun energy of young and old. Music, dogs, boardwalk, surf, sand, cool breeze. Life is great🌸❤️!

Beautiful Beach

By ew321 |

The beach is clean and located near some casual eateries. Tough parking on the weekends. Easy to purchase a beach pass.

Best boardwalk around

By LennyBK |

This is from a resident. The boardwalk constructed after Sandy is absolutely the best around...both in terms of quality of construction and materials used plus the ability to have a clear view of the beach and ocean from anywhere on either side of Ocean Avenue. To the visitors, I say enjoy and have a great time but do not complain about the daily fee...it is a small price to pay for a clean, well cared for beach and boardwalk.

Always a beach party in Belmar

By Carolyn W |

We love Belmar! Fun for all ages. Enough crowd to be interesting. Buy the season pass. 9 days pays for it! Love to see kids, college-aged and us oldies enjoying the same space. Surf contest on September 12-13, 2016

Loved it!

By sue w |

We are a beach family as spend time on Florida beach so the Jersey shore was just as wonderful to us-we love the beach! Nice sand, well behaved folks, no problems at all, will definitely return.

Quick Jersey Shore Getaway

The Beach is great and the Boardwalk is newly updated with Trex. Very nice. Bathroom facilities are clean and fresh.

A fairy tale town

By hotimeray |

Great fairy tale town.
I have been there twice to go fishing once for sea bass and the second for striped bass.
Both times the fishing was great
The second time I was there this past Saturday into Sunday I elected to take the train which stops at 3AM near the fishing docks I walked the town streets which are now Xmas decorated and the next day I walked them again while waiting for the NY bound train. More peace & quiet you could not experience.
The streets and sidewalks are brick paved .and very clean.
A sampling of the type of stores you will find there are a cupcake shop, a store that lightly paints old furniture, an artisian baking shop and a store which sells ugly Xmas sweaters
If that doesn't get you excited nothing will The opposite of the Jersey Shore drinking scene famous on TV.
On Sunday everything shuts down by 3PM for the few stores that even opened, except for the 7-11 near the fishing boats and a couple of high end restaurants
Belmar looks like a great place to live with a family
A summer place for boardwalk hikers and beach goers and a must for fishermen.

Beautiful beach!

By DMG71_12 |

The new boardwalk is really nice! It's a beautiful area! There are not a lot of shops and restaurants on the boardwalk. It is a relaxing area off season!!

Clean beach, decent waves, bright sunny summer days, restrooms available on the boardwalk.

By RichC250 |

Super beach, wide enough, well maintained boardwalk (replaced over the years after getting battered), restrooms on the boardwalk, with food along both sides of the main drag. Parking can be a bear and is metered all day, side streets are free but finding a space is a challenge. Beach is pay per day with season passes available. Nighttime club scene is busy.

Eww

By Chriscarlspencer |

I'm from the shore area , and I would not take anyone or waste a day on a belmar beach. The sand is like dirt. The boardwalk is not like what you'd expect, ie point pleasant Boardwalk. Not a place for children - the beach goers wear tiny beach attire. And it's just a gross atmosphere

Doing well post all the storms and attitudes

By rcl69 |

Good to see the old town take a turn for the better versus the days of old especially in summer. The boardwalk is redone and never better. Public bathrooms with attendants, beach revamped, local homes being kept up, small businesses on the main street etc seem to be doing well. Good job by their administration and taxpayers!

Fun Day Trip

By CB-Hernandez |

The beach is very clean, lots of lifeguards on duty, and there are ample clean bathrooms. The daily cost to go on the beach is $8 - it seemed a little pricey, but the beach and restrooms are extremely well maintained, it's well worth the $8.

Best Beach of the Jersey Shore

By Oldguy1948 |

My wife and I are season-pass holders and travel here about once per week. We have also stayed at a local bed and breakfast last summer.

The entire area is well cared for with clean sand and a deep shoreline. Ther are also excellent restaurants on the beach and within a short drive.

The beach can get busy so arrive early!

Wonderful day at the beach

By Gregory K |

Clean, wide beaches without a lot of commercialization to ruin the experience. Plenty of lifeguards and bathrooms with a broad new boardwalk.

Clean Beautiful and Convenient

By PhilliTraveller007 |

I have been to many beaches in NJ and this by far is the best beach I have been to.
It has all the convenience a beach should have. For starters, the beach is right off the highway unlike other beaches. Before I realized I was looking for a parking spot. No traffic even on a Saturday summer afternoon. It is not one of the well known NJ beaches and hence it is not very crowded but it has all the facilities. We were between 3rd and 4th avenue. I had paid parking on ocean avenue but it wasn't difficult to find a free parking nearby. The beach is not as wide as other beaches hence you hardly walk on the sand to reach the shore but it is wide enough to enjoy all the beach activities. There were life guards present until 6 pm. There were many volleyball courts on the beach. There were also kids playing area with slides and swings. There were open showers to clean off sand before you change. This is something I miss in many beaches. There were also restrooms on either side of where we were on the beach. The beach was pretty flat allowing you to go far inside the water with just waist level water. No sudden dips or rocks on the ocean floor. I saw some guys doing kite surfing and I even saw guys fishing in the banks of the ocean. I saw a prize fish catch over 2 feet long. The guy was so proud holding that fish in his hand. You can even do parasailing there. I didn't see any jet skies though. Now the big thing - Boardwalk. Although it has a beautiful Boardwalk with lots of benches to sit, it doesn't have those Boardwalk stores or eateries that we usually see attached to the boardwalk. Right off the Boardwalk is the ocean ave and you have to cross it to get to restaurants. There were some pretty good restaurants I saw. A fine dining place was totally packed on 3rd ave. forgot it's name though. If you come to beach mostly to stroll on the Boardwalk, this isn't the beach for you but for all other beach activities, I love this beach. And yes, it has a $8/adult beach pass.

Nice big beach, Clean water

By Joe C |

Belmar Beach is a really nice beach along the Jersey shore.
It's long and deep beach with plenty of room for everyone.
The water - beautiful.. Clean, warm with good waves if you want to bring a boogie board or just body surf.

On weekends - its really crowded and, the parking is a nightmare.. You MUST get there early - NLT 9am to have any chance of finding a parking spot..

No concession stands so make sure you bring everything you want to eat / drink.
A nice boardwalk along the beach if you care to take a walk.

Enjoy !!

Not to clean but average

By Daniel A |

The beach was kinda dirty but i went to new jersey for church but we went there for a while to swim and i almost got stuck in a piece of trash so i didn't swim much.

Beautiful, Long Boardwalk to walk/run...Clean Beach

By StevieG350 |

Just so you know, we were here weekdays!

Nice, not too crowded (during the week) boardwalk was great for walking or running. The beach was clean and nice, and we found no problem parking.

It is a cost to get on the beach, but its not that bad.

My biggest downfall was trying to make sure my 16 month old didn't fall off the boardwalk when she was toddling around. (Its like 2 foot drop to the sand or sidewalk on either side, no fences)

Great day trip

By mike h |

We love Belmar..it is easy to get to..has plenty of free neighborhood parking and only charges for people 16 and older. It does not have a boardwalk with rides and games..so kids focus their time on playing on the beach and swimming in the ocean. There are a couple of places to eat right across the street and there are convenient public bathrooms!

Family-friendly beach, best to go early June or late summer to avoid crowds.

By inmyflipflops |

I went to Belmar with my daughter recently and we had a good time. We went early June so the beach wasn't crowded yet and we were able to park near the beach for free. It was a hassle-free beach day. Daily badge costs $8.00 for 16 and older. Seasonal badges are for $55 and even lower for seniors 62+. There are charging stations and water stations to fill your water bottle. There are also plenty of playgrounds for families with small children. The beach was not crowded when we went and although the water was too cold still (for me at least; there were plenty of people swimming happily), my three-year-old really had a good time wading in and out and playing in the waves. There are also some eating establishments and food trucks nearby.

Zumba at the Beach

By Arleen L |

A wonderful time with my Zumba class at the Belmar. The beach is clean. I will go to Belmar again as a family. It is a family oriented safe beach. The Boardwalk is nice and there are many restaurants should you want to have a bite to eat or a drink.

So clean!

By Rob A |

This is one of my favorite beaches in the US. So clean, so quiet, so big. The boardwalk is brand new Trex and great for exercise or exploring. Restaurants line the beach. The bathroom and rinsing facilities are convenient and clean. Garbage cans on the beach make cleaning up a breeze.

My one suggestion is to get here early for parking. One town in either direction seems to have cheaper parking and beach passes, but we love Belmar.

Very nice Jersey shore beach

By omicron71 |

Very clean beach in a lovely community. We are typically Cape May people (we're down there in the summer and the holidays) but when we want a quicker trip and staying only a day or so, this is the place we love it. Parking can be problematic and there are no coolers allowed on the beach, so keep that in mind. The beach is usually not too crowded (but beware holiday weekends). $0 a head without a seasonal pass. But it is a very nice location and town is old world-ish. Good places t eat as well. Enjoy!

Such a nice town

By terrifina |

Beaches at Belmar are clean, relatively laid back, a mix of crowds and not a 3 mile walk from the boards! LOL Really love it here although parking is a bear!

Clean and Fun

By casualplus |

This is a great beach if all you want to do is go to the beach. The beach is clean and parking is plentiful and cheap ($1 per hour). If you can find parking across the street or on the side streets, parking is free. There is a boardwalk and a few nice restaurants but shopping and other activities are limited. The fee for the beach is $8 per adult.

Well known destination

By KARENSCOTTJackson_NJ |

Belmar has always been "the place to go", but in recent years it has become less appealing. There seems to be more "riff raff" than in the past. The "pay" parking spots are $2 an hour and are very narrow, so your car is sure to get "dinged". The first year after S.S. Sandy they had a nice temporary set up with food vendors, but since then they seem to have embraced the "food truck" theme. This looks very trashy, and from the road side you see these lunch trucks on Jacks and blocks and it looks like hell. I would hate to have one of those million dollar houses having the view of a lunch truck undercarriage.

Belmar, a trip thru hell

By Greeneyedlady3210 |

We went to Belmar for a day. I had noticed the beach patrol searching coolers and sniffing cups but got distracted by a phone call. While on the phone I headed off to the ladies room, and that’s when it got weird. A city employee was walking around shouting about a box and next thing I know this man got in my face and started verbally abusing me. The city employee was so vulgar, I got upset and went to take his picture, he posed.

I waved the beach patrol, to complain, and these condescending cop wannabes gave me a $350 ticket for a ( belmar noise violation)

Belmar is racsist and out of control, plenty of places to spend your money. I would avoid belmar at all costs

Relaxing

By 140bethp |

I just love the beach and Belmar is a great place to go. Nuce boardwalk, clean beach and lots of food pkace to choose from. It has all been redone since Sandy storm.

Nice boardwalk but not many shops

By Jonah L |

The boardwalk is clean and new with plenty of police patrolling it. There are chairs and even places to charge your phone there. However, there are not many shops and food places.

Beach Day

By GoForGold1978 |

The beach was clean and not too crowded. Stores nearby (ice cream, etc). Rest rooms clean and maintained.
Stayed most of the day enjoying the surf, sand and watching some dolphins swimming by. Worth the hour to get here.

The NO Biking rule is enforced here.

By skipthelightfandango |

We came to the Jersey Shore in early May thinking we could ride our bikes on the boardwalks there. Well from Asbury Park to Spring Lake you can but in Belmar they made us get off and ride in the streets where it was not safe due to the odd hot weather we got this early May it was very crowded with cars and people. You have to then watch all the cars pulling out of the parking spaces because they really cannot see you coming. It seems you cannot ride bikes on the boardwalks from early May until sometime in October! It is really enforced by bike police in Belmar! They all need to put in a safe bike path then!

Great Beach

By Brian O |

Belmar has dome a remarkable job rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy. The beach is lovely with lifeguards every 50-75 yards. New restrooms every other block. Food trucks along the boardwalk. Chair and umbrella rentals for reasonable prices. Great deal for seniors (62+) - season pass for $15.00

Crazy busy

By D C |

I spend a lot of time at the jersey shore - visiting most towns from cape may to red bank
I grew up there so I feel at home there - Belmar is unique in that it gathers a lot of young people - by the crowds
Not sure why but still fun - volleyball, clubs, and true beach time if you can fine space :)

Great place for a walk

By doug6458 |

Me and my girlfriend come down here to walk the boardwalk. Plenty of parking for free. The boardwalk is very clean and inviting. Great views of the ocean and houses along the water. Great place to walk and get some exercise.

Great shore spot

By TonyDeAugustine |

We had such a memorial day at Long Branch Beach. Beach tag was $5.00 and the parking was $5.00. The water was clean and the surf was moderate. The beach was very clean and patrols were everywhere in case a swimmer might need assistance.

R.R.

By Brook A |

If I could give it -1000000000, I would. The seniors were so rude and racist. They would treat their kind differently from us and told us to get our stuffs off the bench and the shower. Like, what? You've never seen Asians coming to your beach before? I will never go back to this horrible place again!

a boardwalk reborn

By vinnydaniele |

after super storm sandy the BELMAR boardwalk was gone. through endless hours of dedication it has risen and is once again a beautiful destination.

Beautiful beach

By Urban1026 |

This is a nice beach but it is very crowded. The parking is good if you can find a spot on the side street. Bathrooms are accessible when you arrive. The sand and waves are relaxing.

Day Trip

By Toyatravels |

Enjoyed my day trip to Belmar beach. The water was choppy so not many people going in the water but it was still great for sunbathing, it was nice and breezy, the beach was clean and not too crowded. The parking was difficult to find but we ultimately found something.

One of the best beaches I've been to...

By TDC G |

Loved it...! Waves are pretty dangerous for young ones especially high tide but other than that great experience.

Parking is tough get there early.

Great vacation area!

By Anita M |

We really enjoyed our visit to Belmar Beach and the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore. Very nice beach area which is kept very clean. Has great places to stay and eat nearby. The Boardwalk has friendly people, rest rooms and refreshments. Lots of places to park which is free. However there is a fee to walk on the sand during the daytime. No charge to walk on the Boardwalk. The fees for the sand are no longer collected after the late afternoon. People who are staying there can buy seasonal passes for the beach.

Fabulous relaxing beach

By Cindy R |

Great clean beach and boardwalk! Enjoy a fabulous beach day and a peaceful boardwalk stroll. You can walk several miles, if you choose, Belmar to Asbury!

Clean but gets full early

By Sandman2012 |

Very clean and well maintained, we enjoy coming here. It has cleaned up in the many years since I was younger with new small shops around but not too many to spoil the area.

Nice beach and boardwalk but....

By Joel I |

went to Belmar beach around 6pm today and there were so many flies biting my legs. i cant even stay for 5min on a beach chair so i have to go to the water to swim it off.

Worst was when trying to change clothes in the public restroom with my wife and daughter. Woman was standing by the door rudely telling my wife that no changing of clothes was allowed . it would have been better to put a sign outside stating such policies instead of being rude to my family. bad experience and wont go back there again.

Nice quiet beach

By cosmo2012015 |

We traveled here on a mid September weekend, it's a nice wide beach and this time of year is not crowded at all. Nice new boardwalk, still plenty of places open for food and drink.

Pleasant Post-Season

By Nan5049 |

Belmar is a wonderful beach destination in early fall. The beach and boardwalk are easy to walk, and no beach tags post-season. There are clean rest room facilities and playgrounds, and the town is clean and safe with plenty of free parking. Since SuperStorm Sandy, the beach facilities and infrastructure have been rebuilt, as well as most of the residential exteriors. The net effect is that the town looks new.

Charming town!

By Susan W |

What a great find! This seaside community is beautiful! The beach is CLEAN and not too big its "just right". The homes are amazing many have accommodations, just a charming little town!

Beautiful Getaway!!!!!!

By jasssfiggy |

Great Beach We LOVED IT!!!! The guards at the beach were friendly and very attentive and the guys that check for beach badge were Awesome Hi Tom!!!! He was very nice and Knowledgeable see you again this summer!!!!

Nice, clean beach

By slos |

This is probably the cleanest beach I’ve ever been to. Lifeguards on duty. $8 to get in, but military and their dependents are free. Young children are free, too. Umbrellas for rent ($15). The water is really shallow - which we loved. Parking is free, but if you get there around noon, good luck - prepare for quite a walk. Not too crowded or loud.

Beautiful beaches

By Zozokat |

Loved long morning walks along the shore. Such a clean boardwalk and was nice to stroll from town to town.

Relaxing

By Ceal |

Love Belmar Beach for a relaxing day of sun and fun. The beach is rarely crowded and always family friendly. There is a good variety of food options right across from the beach. Nice that there is a Dunkin Donuts right there too. Rest rooms are well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful.

YOU GOTTA RETURN...Jersey is Back!!

By Susan B |

Had a great time visiting the Boardwalk, the arcades, had fried pickles, shrimp
and of course, PIZZA! For those of you wondering if they have recovered from
Hurricane Sandy, YES is the answer! Back and better than ever!
Can't wait to return next summer!

Beautiful clean beach.

By Ginny W |

The beach is always clean and never very crowded. Great for sunbathing and enjoying the waves. It is also perfect to walk along.

A special place if mine for years.

By pjdker |

Belmar, to me, is an ideal Beach Community. With one of the longest stretches of Beach and Boardwalk on the New Jersey Shore, enjoying the beauty and serenity of the ocean is very easy to do. However, if you're looking for great restaurants and a fun night life that is possible here as well. Belmar is a lot of fun, without being too crazy like other New Jersey Shore spots such as Seaside Heights. But beautiful at the same time, this town this embodies the spirit of the New Jersey Shore.

nice beach but you have to pay to go on it!

By ipbchlvr |

it is a nice beach. the boardwalk is nice to walk on. however I find it ridiculous that you have to pay to walk on a beach from memorial day until labor day. say what? we go to north Carolina and the beaches are free. but it is a close beach to a family member to we will often go walk while we are visiting. it is a shame that my leashed dog isn't welcome on the boardwalk during the summer. on the plus side, the water was clean last time we went in.

Beautiful new boardwalk and beach

By Jeff A |

Very nice, expecially on fall afternoons and evenings. great walk along the ocean and a good selections of restaurants across the street

I have been going to this beach for several decades.

By TennisStar602 |

Each summer, I visit the beaches of Spring Lake and of Belmar. Belmar has metered parking at the boardwalk, but there is free parking just a few blocks away from the beach. It is nice to walk around the boardwalk, and there are many restaurants, bars, and other shops. Many of the houses across from the beach are quite scenic. In the summertime, the beach is very enjoyable, and I always enjoy the ability to take a swim, to walk around, and to relax on the sand. What really vexes me is what I feel is the desire of most of these beach towns to charge a beachgoer a fee to go onto the beach. I find it to be despicable to charge the people such an exorbitant fee. I would prefer to not have to deal with what I consider to be the harassment of the lifeguards and of the constant and of the superfluous presence of the police officers. While I support the police officers making their rounds, in my opinion, it is definitely too strong of a police presence. I feel like so many of these beach towns are really hungry for extra money.

Clean, Beautiful Beach

By Dolphena |

Enjoyed our visit to Belmar. Residential, quiet area, clean, not rowdy. Peaceful boardwalk. Waves were rough when we were there. Held on to our 5 year old tightly.

The seafront is OK but very touristy

By BobStamford |

The seafront is very nice - but very busy and just a little too touristy - I am sure there are better beaches

Love this place

By Heather S |

Love this place. Clean beaches. Doesn't get to crowded. $12 to get on . They don't accept cash. There is plenty of parking (it's paid) but great spots.

Perfect beach for the family

By Rency R |

One of the cleanest beaches and is well patrolled for safety. Parking took a while to find. But was not too bad either.. I went with little kids and they all had a good time. The boardwalk was rather nice. The bathrooms were constantly being cleaned and well maintained. I could see people coming in at different times of the day and they were all having fun. There were people learning to surf, paragliding or mostly bopping the waves..

Nice flat beach close to convenient attractions.

By Brian D |

Close to restaurants, coffee and ice cream this beach has showers yo clean up and wash off the sand before you go.
If you are not accustomed to NJ beaches be aware that much of the summer season requires a 70 dollar season pass.
Thus the rating. Otherwise it's fantastic.

"Belmar"-STILL, the Most Beautiful Beach and Full Boardwalk, with Unobstructed Views of the OCEAN!! Yay!!

By Alice D |

I was born in Brooklyn, but, moved to Belmar, when I was four. It is literally, "My Home Town," and I am very Proud of this lovely, little seaside town, that does its best to accomodate travelers, and visitors. There are very few affordable towns on the Jersey Shore, where you can "truly Afford," to make a visit, and stay overnight at a Bed and Breakfast in Belmar, or modestly priced Motel's on Route 35, traveling from Belmar to Manasquan.

Fantastic Beach - New boardwalk, clean restaurants, entrance attendants, parking

By jackiepaddy |

First visit to Belmar in 30 years. Beach was wonderful. We loved the new boardwalk without any disrupted view. Only one beach front shop at the southern end of the boardwalk and it was a nice shop in a shipping container. Very clean. Well attended. Nice restroom facilities. Parking along Ocean Avenue or on side streets. But the beach itself is the feature. No distractions. Police officers patrolling on foot. Didn't see any open alcohol but saw one young lady allegedly get caught with some. Very different from OCNJ.

Go early

By gymlady30 |

If you can get up and out before 10 am. You will find free parking down 2nd avenue. And the beach there doesn't get crowded till around noon. We love the beach between 2nd and 3rd. You get to watch the surf camp . The kids of all ages are fun to watch !! Grampa was out there today !! Close walk to bathroom and short walk to playa bowl . $15.00 season passes for over 63. Can't beat it !!

Beautiful, Clean Beach

By Brendiesue |

We have visited Belmar Beach for the past 8 years and each time, it just keeps getting better. I feel safe and the area is clean and well kept. If you don't bring lunch, there are a few places right across the street where you can buy a sandwich or a slice of pizza. There is also a store that has everything you need for the beach - from bathing suits to umbrellas, chairs, hats, sunscreen, boogie boards, etc. The beach also has rental chairs and umbrellas

Anniversary day

By john m |

Loved the beach at Belmar. Great value, clean beach and great attendants overseeing the comfortable outdoor experience.

Perfect day with the grand children

By Rachel M |

Very nice, clean beach. Lifeguards were attentive, public restrooms and playgrounds every 4 blocks. Outdoor shower stations at each beach entrance. We were lucky to visit on an uncrowded day so we were able to park right at the boardwalk for $2 an hour. Beach tags $8 a day for ages 16 and over.

Too Crowded on Weekends

By susiesci |

The Belmar beach has really changed. The sand is now stony and orange and stains your clothes and feet. There is a small strip of nice sand left and everyone sits on it. The back of your chair touches the chair of the next person, The life guards are over worked and the water is packed. Lines to get food cut into your beach time. If you have an option pick Bradley Beach or Spring Lake or maybe Long Branch.

Day trip

By Linmad |

Nice clean beach. We arrived early so we got a great parking spot. $2.00 an hour to park. Boardwalk is new and very nice. Plenty of bathrooms and they also have phone charging stations. When your are done for the day they have showers to wash off the sand. Food trucks are also parked along the boardwalk. All in all great day at the beach.

Very nice

By lillyrose212 |

What a nice beach and town. The beach is so convenient with pizza, sandwich places and some stores right across the street. Soft sandy beach, nice waves but not too crazy.

The beach umbrellas, for rent, were sold out when we got there around 2 PM. We bought an umbrella from the store across the street for around $30. So be prepared.

Daily entrance is $8, children are free.

After the beach don't miss Strollo's for ice cream. It's only a short drive away. The vanilla sundae and the mint chocolate chip were both AMAZING.
All in all, I think Belmar town is really charming!

Really messing with the seniors age 62-64 for 2019!!

By Joe Turnes |

If you will turn 65 after labor day, you got screwed in 2019! Or even if you are 63. Last 2 seasons i was considered a senior & got a belmar season beach badge for $15.
For 2019, they not only DOUBLED the price of the senior season pass to $30 , but raised the senior AGE from 62 to 65! So for 2019 i have to pay $70 for a seasonal beach badge!
Did they double the cost of the daily badge? NO.
Do a LOT of teenagers claiming to be 15 but are older get on the beach for free? YES.
How can Belmar beach officials be so stupid? Lower the age to 12.
I suggest all beach goers age 62-64 to wait till after labor day when the beach is free. I know i will! I may do that from now on! Forever!
Won't ever forget this!!

Wonderful

By shoregal150 |

Wonderful comeback from Sandy! The new boardwalk and beach resurfacing are great. Many food shops and things to do.

The only beach in NJ that I will go to

By BelmarGirl |

The beach is always clean; unlike some other local beaches. Get a seasonal badge if you plan on going more than 6-8 times in a season, you'll save money.

Beautiful Beach and Boardwalk

By 02Jeter |

Very clean, well-kept beach. The newly refurbished composite boardwalk is a joy for walkers and runners. The boardwalk is non-commercial with plenty of eateries right across the street. Nice places for kids to play. And let's not forget to mention the very clean and convenient rest rooms. Especially lovely and uncrowded in the spring and fall. Will be back next year!

Beautiful clean beach

By Leticia M |

Stayed across the street from the beach 🏖. When I read up on the beach couldn’t believe that you had to pay to be a beach bum for the day. But we set foot on the beach it became crystal clear why. The sand was clear of debris and your feet sank. It gave me a easy feeling knowing that with each step I wouldn’t or didn’t have a chance of cutting myself on broken glass. It was such a great feeling. The boardwalk was beautiful.

Belmar Beach/Boardwalk

By MichBelmar |

Belmar is clean and safe. Lifeguards are on the ball, alert and helpful. Beach is family friendly. Food and bathrooms are always close by. It's a great location and not too far from northern NJ and NY. I have been going to Belmar for 20 years now and it's still a happy place to be. The Boardwalk is new and has lots of seating and bike racks.

Our go-to beach!

By Susie C |

We have been to many beaches but this is our favorite. We love to walk the beautiful boardwalk and walk along the beach. Sitting on the nice benches gives you a wonderful view of the sand and sea as there are no dunes to look over. There are bathrooms every few blocks in season. There are some beachfront eateries and some nice restaurants across the street as well. There are park-like swings by the boardwalk. The beaches are clean! This is not the Belmar I remember from college many many years ago!

Kids had so much fun!

By None6ABC |

Fantastic beach for the family! Beach is clean, great food options, new boardwalk and overall just a fun beach!

Great place!

By Alan B |

As a young man I spent my summers in Belmar. I learned about life and the world around me. It was a GREAT experience and I miss it dearly.

Nice boardwalk, beach, and waves

By naltro |

Huge beach with constant waves that make for a fun and nice swim in the ocean. The boardwalk is recently renovated and it's pleasant to walk onto it.

Great slice of the Jersey Shore

By Dom S |

Belmar beach is one of the best on the shore! It tends to get crowded and loud around 16th Avenue because that’s where all the younger crowd gathers. If you want a more laid back and family oriented experience try the beach at 3rd or 4th ave. All the bathrooms are clean and well kept, the beach staff are all friendly and if you don’t mind a short walk you can park for free on any side street.

Paying for badges

By Judi R |

It was totally my error that I ordered my beach badges on line and meant to purchase badges for Bradley Beach, not Belford. I called immediately and got a voice message. I explained what I had done. A woman called me back and explained that on the web site it says badges are not refundable. I just feel I need to complain as I just threw away over $48 to do someone else’s job and I get punished for it.

A Great Beach

By HenryChin |

The Crown of the Jersey shore Beaches. This is the must go to beach to be seen and have fun. This is a fantastic beach and boardwalk. Across Ocean avenue are shops of all ilks; eats, souvenir and etc.
This beach is very very busy from Memorial day to Labor day. People from north Jersey as well as New York and Philly come here.
The populationof 5,800 swells to 60,000 on summer weekends according to local officials

Still a campground

By Christine F |

Belmar has signs banning all large tents on the beach, yet they are still there. There is no enforcement and everyone continues to set up these large camping or tailgating tents. There are also the smaller ones that sit on the beach; they are everywhere and completely block your view if they are set up in front of you. If people feel the need to use a tent on the beach, go up by the boardwalk and do not block views of others.

These tents are for camping and there are many campgrounds in NJ for them to use. The beach is not the place. It is really terrible as this is such a nice beach and boardwalk and is very clean and well organized.

Hoping there is some crackdown and these tents disappear, but I am not hopeful.

Great boardwalk

By hm r |

Great place to get your exercise in on nice days on the boardwalk. Can stop into Dunkin Donuts for a coffee also.

Walk the boards

By Pilsner22 |

I took a walk on the boardwalk and was surprised that the pavilions I remember weren't there. I know the storm destroyed them but Belmar needs to give the public something if they're going to be charging for beach access and parking. The boardwalk itself was nice, a man made material I think but easy on the feet. The bars and restaurants across from the beach are up and running which was nice to see. They have vendors on the boardwalk which in my opinion takes away from the beach experience. Build the pavilions and put the venders back on the ocean side to free up the boardwalk flow.

Best beach closest to Allentown, PA

By CMR |

Really enjoyed our first time to Belmar Beach. Took us exactly 2 hrs to get there from Allentown, PA which I thought was great. Easy drive and very little traffic as you come into the city. Beautiful and well kept beach. Bathrooms very clean - attendant there keeping up on things. The beach was free on Labor Day but normally $8 if over age 16. Well worth it for the nice atmosphere and clean bathrooms. I would definitely go again next year - would be great for a long weekend. Area itself reminds me a little bit like Cape May - really quaint. Parking was a little difficult - got there around 10:15am and found parking 3 blocks away - not bad for a holiday. A great new find!

Best and widest boardwalk

By Elsa C. L. |

Compared to Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, Avon-By-The-Sea, Belmar has the best boardwalk.

The best beach is that of Bradley and the boardwalk is also nice.

Nice beach.

By Nancy s |

Family friendly. Nice to be able to bring food on the beach as many towns do not allow this (no glass of course). If you get there early enough parking is decent and only $2 an hour. Many other areas are more pricey. Lots of bathrooms which are very clean all along the beach. Lifeguards are on the ball. Nice boardwalk even if small.

Nice beach, better than 30 years ago

By sportrocket |

I only go there now because my daughter has a house 2 blocks away. Beach and new boardwalk are great. DO NOT eat any place along boardwalk. Bring your own food. DO NOT go to Seafood festival, way too crowded, takes 1 hour to get horrible, uncooked seafood. Good for families, Guidoes from NY are 15 miles south

Fly infestation

By wtalchick |

No longer after my friend and I arrived and got settled, we noticed that we were being bitten. Come to find out it was flies. Swarming flies on the beach! You cannot sit and enjoy the view at all without being attacked or have some type of bug repellent. I was miserable the whole time until I got frustrated with fighting them off. I had to stay in the water or leave. They were attacking everyone nearby. It was not because of food left lying around either. I looked for that. Even when I wrapped up in a big towel and blanket, the flies were going under my chair biting the back of my legs. Miserable!!!! They need to spray that beach especially near 16th Street by 7-Eleven. Will not be returning this Summer and definitely won't be paying $8 to get bitten.

Simply Stunning!

By Rick M |

What can you say about a beach community that isn't stereotypical "Jersey Shore" with wall to wall tee shirt shops, bars and carnies?
ITS HEAVEN!
Beautiful manicured homes, clean streets, a nice truly family beach town whos residents take great pride in, its obvious with every street I turned down,
This is what a beach community should look like,
I'm so glad that I discovered this jewel, it reminds me of my favorite North Carolina beach communities,

Belmar - You have to step up and move on, you're looking tacky!

By Deby R |

I have loved Belmar for more than 40 years. We stayed 6 days this week at a terrific B&B and it was one of the best we've ever had despite our disappointment of Belmar not making any progress with rebuilding. The lack of progress after "Sandy" is wearing thin. Not enough restrooms, concession trucks/vehicles on the street don't project a good image. Honky-tonk and tacky is what it looks like. Belmar has always represented a clean, well run community of lovely homes that are lovingly cared for and a respectable beach crowd. There is an element that is now present that is disrespectful, disruptive and trashing the common areas. Rebuild, reenforce a zero tolerance to outsiders who don't want to be civilized and let those of us who love, respect and support Belmar to get back to fully enjoying this little piece of heaven.

A Jersey shore favorite!

VERY RACIST TOWN!!!!! DO NOT GO IF YOU ARE BROWN OR BLACK SKINNED!!!! We are all white, but my husband is black. Towards the end of the day, we got approached by two White female police officers because we had a cooler. It was forecasted to be 85°, and we brought water in a cooler with ice to keep us hydrated. I looked around and there were at least four other families with coolers, but they were all White. We immediately packed up to leave. Next thing you know, at least six police officers surrounded my Husband about his cooler. I am white, so I walked right past at least six police officers with another cooler as I left the beach. And they never said anything to me. Not a word. Nothing about my cooler. They gave my Black husband a ticket for absolutely nothing. We looked at the ticket, and we can’t find any code or violation or anything. There’s no amount or a code violation number. He got a ticket for being a black man in America. WE WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!!!! For safety and fairness, we will stick to beaches where there are higher populations of black and brown skin Americans.

well guarded

By Marilyn L |

The lifeguards at Belmar are very alert and careful, and there are loads of restaurants nearby. Also the bathrooms are kept clean.

Nice

By sheila r |

It was a very pleasant place..small boardwalk..clean beach...very little places to eat..very quiet town

Beautiful beach

By Das4545 |

This is a classic Jersey Shore beach. Beautiful Boardwalk and beach. Food options across Ocean Road. Plenty of people watching. At night, Belmar has many drinking and dancing options. Town maintains beach vert well. Great place to wak or Run. There are playground for the kids. Or just grab a donut and coffee and sit in the many available benches.

Sunbathing and nature

By P F B |

Stopped at the inlet by the drawbridge for some birding. There are several families of nesting birds, which was the reason I stopped. The nesting areas are roped off so public access is prohibited. Saw several pairs of American oystercatchers, terns, and black skimmers. The boardwalk itself is pleasant for casual walks, but gets crowded as the day progresses. The beach is well taken care of.

What the Jersey Shore is all about

By Bob G |

Grow up on the Jersey Shore in the 60's, a simpler time, and just revisited the area and found the beaches north of Belmar to Sandy Hook to be over built and beach access limited. I was told to go to Belmar beaches and was pleasantly surprised. The boardwalk, restaurants and other beach attractions were great. Watched the fishing charters going out to sea and having a libation at Kliens and parasailing.

Belmar has the BEST Beach in Central NJ....PERIOD.

By Doug H |

I will confess that I am a 17 year resident of Belmar and I am not writing this review because of "posterity"; rather I am writing it to declare that I have lived here for so long because the town, and the beach especially, are both top notch. Belmar pays METICULOUS attention to the preservation of its beach and is one of the CLEANEST beaches in NJ. I think many may already know this, as the town is FILLED with visitors during the Summer months, as it should be. Not only is the mile-long beach WONDERFUL but, the town (borough) itself is also packed with things to do. If Asbury Park is a draw for you, consider heading about 4 miles south to WIDE beaches that are cleaned and maintained daily. As a local, I will share that the best time of day to hit the beach is either in the very early morning, or after 3PM, when the crowds begin to leave. Stay on the beach for 2 hours and then head for one of the many excellent restaurants in the area. A day/weekend/week spent in Belmar will NOT disappoint you.

Great boardwalk for walking / jogging - ON the ocean

By Rich G |

Well kept boardwalk in excellent condition along the ocean. I jogged it starting in Bradley Beach, through Avon, and into Belmar. loved every minute of it and saw the town as I ambled through it. Found some places I wanted to come back to visit, and loved the views of the ocean. Great boardwalk!

Lack of communication

By Christine F |

I visited Belmar this past weekend; there was some sort of race/bike ride event and all the streets leading up to the beach parking were blocked off. Traffic was crazy and everyone was looking for parking in the very narrow streets with very little luck.

The fact that they had this event is great, however, it should have been communicated and advertised. No mention of it was made on their printed media or on their website; the site showed no events for that Sunday [and every other Sunday in August]. Had many of us known, we would have avoided this beach on this day. I guess that was the point; not tell anyone and they will come and have to put up with no parking and traffic. Events like this should be publicized so the impact is known.

Belmar is generally a nice beach. It has rules against smoking on the beach, though they are not enforced as you will always see smokers and no police. The beach is separated into sections for swimming and use of boogie boards; though this is not always enforced.

The boardwalk and beach are clean and the restrooms are generally cleaned, though it depends on where you are. The rules against changing in the bathrooms are also not enforced and the lines at the end of the day are very long.

Belmar needs to communicate better and enforce the really good and practical rules they have in place.

Becoming a campground

By Christine F |

Belmar has become a campground and picnic site. On any Sunday, you can see hundreds of tents on the beach. Some of them are the very large ones you use for events and others are the small ones that sit on the sand. If someone sits in front of you in one of those small tents, you lose your view of the ocean and waves.

The beach is not a campground; it is for chairs, umbrellas and towels. People go to the beach to enjoy the sun, water, waves and sound of the ocean. In several recent trips to Belmar, it looks like a tent city. There are loads of tents with extra large coolers, tables set up with trays of food and loud music. This is not what most of us go to the beach for; we want to enjoy a beach experience.

There are signs on the entrance to the beach that indicate no tents during summer season, but obviously not enforced. I have never seen any police on the beach; they are on the street writing parking tickets, but not on the beach. Perhaps the sign is a suggestion and no one actually reads it.

There are plenty of other beaches that also indicate they ban these tents and I am hoping they actually enforce the law. So if you want a campground,go to Belmar, if you want to enjoy the sun, sand and water with other beach goers, find another beach

Something for everyone!

By Glowbird59 |

Belmar's section of Ocean Avenue is a bustling popular destination. Not for someone who wants a quiet, zen getaway. There are a variety of shops, restaurants, bars. For all ages. Great for families with babies, toddlers, teens & tweens. If you want honky-tonk at the Jersey shore, then this is the town for you. Metered parking & beach badges required.

Nicer than expected

By Larry M |

It was clean, a huge beach, beautiful sand, a new boardwalk, washrooms along the boardwalk, beautiful houses across the street. Much nicer than I expected.

Flies at the beach

By patclennarodina |

Just comming home from Spring Lake Beach. We've been there every Summer for past 8 years with no complaints, but today we were bitten by flies. We wanted to enjoy a quiet clean beach as we were used to.We are very dissapointed today.

Good family friendly beach for the weekend!

By Gautham S |

The Belmar beach is one of the beaches in the NJ shorelines which is very clean, well maintained and family friendly. The tickets are $9 each. For parking you can start watching towards several different streets cutting across Sylvania Ave. We had a good experience here compared to Point Pleasant beach. The water is reasonably clean and a very relaxing boardwalk and decent restroom and shower facilities. If you have forgotten any beach accessories, there is a COSTCO within 3-4 miles having good stuff for less.

One of the best on Jersey Shore

By Damien O |

Great Beach. Very well run although a little expensive for a beach badge but such is the US. Good facilities. Can be rip currents and strong pull in the water but a lovely place with shops/cafe/pizza across the road. Really nice for a visit

Awesome!

By Arelis B |

Great to place to relax and hang out with the family. Clean and friendly. Will go back next summer!!

Beautifully restored

By M M |

Newly restored boardwalk. Nice, clean beaches. Beautifully restored beach homes. Hopefully the boardwalk will be restored to included concessions and shopping on the boardwalk.

NJ Shore Hot Spot

By Peter F |

Folks have been flocking to Belmar to enjoy the great beach for decades. The place gets packed in the summer so get there early. The night life is another reason young folks love Belmar.

Belmar Beach and Boardwalk

By Jay O |

Belmar beach is an excellent beach, good for families and surfers alike. Movies on the beach too, plenty of parking more on the side streets, where you don't have to pay, lol. And if your into some activeties there are plenty of good bars to choose from or go fishing from the Belmar marina, all within a mile.

Lovely and Lively Beach

By AlexanderD |

Belmar Beach is one of New Jersey's best. It is easily accessed, has a great boardwalk, is always clean, and has a bunch of little restaurants alongside it. It is livelier than Spring Lake Beach to the south, if that is what you are looking for.

Afternoon lime

By Wendell H |

Went down to beach for the evening relaxing time with family wasnt to crowded if you park by the boardwalk parking is by the hour until 7pm so just beware and prepared . You can also park on side streets if you find a spot for free.

OK Beach, but I prefer Point Pleasant

By HOCKPOOH |

Belmar has an OK beach and an OK boardwalk, but has limited options. I just think that Point Pleasant is a better choice. They have a much better boardwalk with so many games and food choices.

Easy Walking

By thematriarch |

Walking the boardwalk is easy. The views of the ocean are perfect the beach is pristine.Plenty of restaurants along the way to stop for food or drink .

Not what it was before Sandy

By foodietravel73 |

The beach is back - the boardwalk has been rebuilt - but none of the businesses that were ON the boardwalk are back. It is a nice place to go - but it does get very crowded on the weekends - and if it is the weekend of a festival, forget it - don't even bother - you will have to park in the next town over.

Night of Hurricane Jose

By C L |

Have always loved the Belmar boardwalk and watching the boats come and go at the inlet; the night of hurricane jose, I opted to go down and see what was happening at high tide. LOL...I guess everyone else had the same idea and it was like a party down there. People were standing on the beach by the inlet watching the waves just pound against the bridge. It was windy and pretty spectacular. We were there about an hour and by the time we left, the waves were up to the street and under the boardwalk. What a cool thing to see.

Beautiful beach, just hate paying to be on it

By Danielle L |

This is a beautiful beach and both the beach and boardwalk are kept very clean.
My only issue with it is the beach fee of $8 plus parking meters if you want to park close. Makes it difficult to bring a family here.

Beautiful Boardwalk and Stunning Beach

By Matthew V |

Having recently been restored from the devastation of Superstorm Sandy, the boardwalk and amenities all appear brand new. The beach is large with beautiful views of the Jersey Shore. Fishing available in the Shark River as it empties into the Atlantic.

*** Belmar Boardwalk, NJ ***

The 1.3-mile Belmar Boardwalk is more of a party atmosphere, while the section through Ocean Grove is lined with benches, street lamps, and potted flowers

The boardwalk and beach area is located on Ocean Avenue and runs from First to Twentieth Avenues, offers many interesting attractions, shops, and eateries along the boardwalk, as well as fun along the extensive stretch of beach.

The Boardwalk has beautiful sunset, and it would be great to witness that. The beach and atmosphere work as additives to the situation. It is a perfect place for a long romantic walk

Smoking is prohibited on the entire beach and boardwalk at all times. dogs/bike/skating is also not allowed.

Belmar Beach and Boardwalk

By Sharon Slickis |

Walk for miles on a wide low rise boardwalk and enjoy views of the rolling waves
and soft sand in beautiful Belmar, NJ. This boardwalk is active all season as
locals walk every winter with the snow on the sand. It's beautiful here all year round.

My home is your vacation

By db16 |

Absolutely love Belmar Beach. The beach is very wide. Lots of food choices on boardwalk and across street. Parking can be a little tricky on busy weekends.

Beautiful Beach in the Jersey Shore

By edazLongIsland_NY |

Droppped of the kids at Six Flags and searched for a beach close by and that's when I struck gold! Belmar is a beautiful beach. The beach, boardwalk and sidewalks are sooo clean. Lots of cute shops, restaurants and food trucks a van be found nearby. If you prefer to take your own cooler, you can do so. Entrance fee was $8. Will definitely return.

Best family beach to visit in north East

By Mike Shaun |

Belmar beach is one of our go to beach every year. It’s very clean and well maintained public beach. We love it’s boardwalk and other activities as well. We stayed over the weekend at local Airbnb place but it’s good for one day trip for anyone living in PA or NJ area.

love this beach

By Noah O |

people are nice and respectful here at this beach. The water is a little cloudy. (Atlantic ocean problems) But all in all I loved the parasailing and the food near the beach. would definitely come back to this beach again in the future,

Amazing location for Summer fun

By Sorana C |

This is one of my favorite places in the summer. The boardwalk has been almost completely restored since hurricane Sandy and is better than ever. It extends several miles from Avon to Springlake. It is a popular destination for joggers, walkers and bicyclists. Bicycles are allowed until 8:00 am. Pets are not allowed, but a section of beach area has been cordoned off for dogs between Belmar and Springlake.
The beach front is clean, very close to the boardwalk and has lots of clean, well maintained bathrooms available. No need to worry about any gastrointestinal disasters here. There are a few restaurants and food trunks in the beachfront area. Not a lot, but sufficient to provide the obligatory tacos, ice-cream, breakfast sandwiches etc. It is well worth the eight dollar cost of the beach badge to visit here.
Security is never an issue, with a visible neighborhood policing presence. Beach staff members are also present at many points along the beach. Parking can be a problem, but generally if you arrive early enough, it is easy to find a spot.
The quality that I love most about Belmar seems to be it's welcoming attitude to all visitors. People of all creeds can be readily found among the visitors to this beachy oasis.

Beautiful Belmar

By EileenHurley |

Another wonderful day on the beach in Belmar. Beach is beautiful with very good lifeguards. Takes and hour and 15 minutes to get here. I think it's the best beach in NJ!

One of USA's Best Beaches

By Jnjtiger |

Have been to beaches all around USA, including many lakes. Pretty hard to beat Belmar. Beaches and boardwalk completely repaired from Hurricane Sandy, which was much worse than Media reported. Beaches are large, deep, life guards on duty, new bathroom facilities every few blocks. New playgrounds added right on the beach, believe there are four along the twenty block beach. Fun restaurant trailers on boardwalk, good local restaurants in the area. Lots of weekly rentals.

Excellent New Boardwalk

By corptool |

Excellent new boardwalk with Trex slats, so barefoot won't mean splinters. The town keeps everything as pristine as they can and this is one of the nicer beaches with a boardwalk on the Jersey Shore. I recommend it.

Something for all, young and old, alike!

By Billy R |

Belmar is a clean, beautiful beach at the NJ Shore. 16TH to 18th, 5th and 8th Avenues have food stores across from the boardwalk. Many of the entrances to the beach have showers. Surfing, fishing, volley ball, kite flying, ball playing are permitted in certain areas. Metered parking on the boardwalk side of Ocean Ave. Free parking on the west side and side streets. Get there early for the free parking. Badges are required daily fee is $8.00. Before "Sandy' there were 3 pavillions on the boardwalk. Township wants to rebuild 2 of them and hopefully that will happen for next season.

Belmar Beach lovely serene

By Private P |

Stunning views, but npt the best of the shore, try point pleasant or asbury, or others, because not much to do or see other than beach, a good 10 block walk to civilazation after that!

Nice beach

By Diana F |

Nice beach. Less crowded down by the lower avenue numbers. I hate that every town in NJ charges a fee for beach access, but that's universal.

Spectator Day in Belmar

By Kathy S |

Spent the day on the Belmar Beaches for my birthday. Perfect weather day with perfect water conditions. Plenty of parking, bathrooms and food choices for everyone. Less than 90 minutes from out house to the beach which is awesome!!!!

orange beach sand~~ugh!

By jusminya |

This is my go-to beach in the summer months. I love it...but ever since Hurricane Sandy, the beach sand is only 'white' near the ocean. I'm appalled the townspeople let this happen. The boardwalk is new--nice. The parking & beach area gets VERY crowded/congested on beautiful weather days. I am soooo hoping that the sand gets white again!!!

Modern Jersey Shore

By Foodie G |

Nightlife alley with great beaches and boardwalk. Nothing too crazy but great for after the beach and close to many other Jersey Shore landmarks.

Not our Cup of Tea - more for younger people

By rosebaloga |

It was average - nothing to write home about - I think it's for the younger crowd. I wouldn't stay in this town. I think the surrounding towns are better - for example, Bradley Beach, Avon-By-The-Sea, Spring Lake - just to name a few.

Young Crowd!

By hwllmary |

Most of the beach gets really crowded, from 14th to 18th avenue, especially. Also, that's where the food concessions are across the street. There are parking meters, and not that much side street parking unless you get there super early. The sand is a brownish looking color, not white. It looks more like dirt, I guess since 'Sandy'. The further north you go, to say 4th ave., the beach gets less crowded and more families. The restroom trailers are located every couple of blocks right on the beach. With paid parking and beach fees, it can get pricey. There is a Dunkin' Donuts on the main drag, but they don't have Dunkin' Donuts prices, they're much higher.
