Went with my niece's for my mom's 85th birthday. Carol was great we had such a good time. The experience of the times and the antiques were great.

Great experience

Enjoyed the stories of Jesus and the gift shop. I plan on going back for the Bible meal. They offered a light show which was very enjoyable. The price is reasonable and includes complimentary tea and hot chocalate.

Great Tour Great Meal

Vern our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helped the Bible become really clear. We opted for the tour and dinner and the dinner was very traditional and delicious. Must see if in LaGrange area!

A Place Where the Bible Will Come to Life

By Connie P |

A tour of the Biblical History Center will help students of the Bible understand more fully what an "inn" or a "stable," and "a shepherd's tent, "an altar" or "threshing the wheat" meant in the time of the Bible. You'll hear the guide say often "Doesn't that make it come off the page for you?" If possible, make reservations to observe an authentic Passover meal while you're there. It, too, will deepen your understanding. The Center contains an impressive number of authentic archeological artifacts from the Holy Lands.

This is a quick trip to Israel in a Georgia industrial park!

By Michael M |

My wife and I enjoyed a week in Israel two years ago and had heard great things about Explorations in Antiquity. So we drove about five hours to check it out, and it was five hours well spent!
It was like we were back in Jerusalem! There were sights and sounds to remind us. There were the artifacts that the Israeli government had sent to stock the museum on the inside and the construction on the outside that looks just like Jerusalem and environs would have appeared in the time of Christ. A true learning experience!
We had the Jerusalem meal as would likely have been served to upper classes in those days. Not just two or three snacks, but eight or ten different tastes...mostly good, but mostly not what we are used to eating. (I hate hummus, but my wife loves it!) Eat and learn.
If you are traveling within a couple of hundred miles of LaGrange, make this a stop. But don't expect your GPS to get you there. Mine sure didn't, but your efforts will be rewarded.

Wonderful!

By Laura M |

Vern really knew his stuff and showed us around when we got there. He was very nice and brought the bible to life. He also kept the kids engaged. Their artifact collection was very large and their chickens were very cute!

By Heather B |

This gives you a look into the lives of those living in Israel both during the time of Abraham and the time of Jesus. After crowing the inner area which holds many artifacts, the outside part of the museum let's you see busy how they lived as far as tents made from goat hair, mangers carved from stone, and a replica oil press. The tour guide was very informative and funny at times. The meal which replicates the last supper was quite interesting and offered a variety of food and allows you to experience customs when praying over the food. Great for church groups or any follower of Jesus's teachings. Even if you are not religious glancing into history is always fun.

Very educational center

By Queenzach3 |

A very educational center, how group was blessed to see the Elizabeth Elliott exhibit here. Very informative, everyone is very friendly and great customer service. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made sure we knew some fun facts about life in Jerusalem.

A Must Visit for Christians

By Sonya G |

Explorations in Antiquity is a must visit for Christians who want to be able to connect ancient culture and traditions with Scripture. Our home school group visited and enjoyed a by reservation only class called "A Shepherd's Bread." We were treated to dressing like a bedouin, making butter, and making bread. In addition, the guide explained the lifestyle of the bedouins and the role of the shepherd. Our guides did an amazing job! They were knowledgeable and connected the culture and customs of antiquity to the Bible always stressing the link to Jesus. After the presentation, we were allowed to freely visit each exhibit at our own pace. Each area contains easily read information that explained each element of the exhibit. Our teens seemed to really like the Roman amphitheater and the traditional four room Jewish home that is built to scale. This was definitely our best field trip in years!

Biblical History Center Tour

By Nanette M |

If you have ever wanted to go to Israel or learn more about Biblical times and have as close to a first-hand experience as possible, this is the place to spend the day. The tour is amazing, informative and humbling, and a meal experienced during the time of Jesus, was just awesome. I will go back and do exactly the same again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We attended three day Conference on the Apostles.

By 2pecantrace |

Character Studies from the Book of Acts. Excellent presentation. So much history and knowing about the customs during the lives and times of the apostles. Would recommend this place to anyone interested in the early lives of the Jewish people and their efforts to spread the Word of Jesus to other Jews and Gentiles. Focus on Paul, Peter, James, Timothy, Barnabas, Pricilla and Aquilla. Also great information about the places mentioned in the Bible. Just absolutely fascinating!!! Participated in a meal based on meals in the early ages, with items people ate. Delicious.

I love this place

By Mike C |

Every time we go to the center they have something new and interesting going on or being added. This trip we had our second Biblical Meal which is not only very tasty but extremely informative. This is a must stop if you like history, have any interest in the Middle East, have any interest in any of the religions and cultures of the Middle East including Christianity, Judaism, or Islam.

The people and programs are great.

Fun, interactive & super educational for PreTeens & adults

By Skbraddock |

I took a group of 5th & 6th graders from my church to the Biblical History Center today. It exceeded our expectations. We did the garden & artifact tours & enjoyed the Biblical Meal. Christy, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable, patient & engaging. We drove 3.5 hours one way just for the museum & returned home the same day. The entire bus declared the long bus trip “totally worth the drive” for the experience. We all learned new things & will forever read the Bible stories with fresh eyes. The Biblical History Center is a treasure that I HIGHLY recommend.

Fantastic, Worth the trip

This was a surprise birthday trip from my,husband. Best gift I've had in years! Do the lunch, so educational and makes the Bible and bibical time of Jesus come alive

Spiritual Treat

By sharon s s |

The S.A.L.T. Ministry of Unity In Faith Baptist Church, Inc. took the tour and had the meal on our outing May 27, 2015. It was truly amazing and unforgettable. The visit far exceeded our expectations and we look forward to bringing our youth back In June as part of our VBS. This was an excellent learning experience.

Wonderful Field Trip with our Confirmation Class!

By Rachel H |

We had a wonderful experience bringing our 6th-8th grade Confirmation students here for the Garden Tour, Biblical Meal, and Artifacts Museum. We had a very knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide, Christy, who made learning about Biblical history relevant and engaging. The replica garden is stunning, the Biblical meal is both informative and delicious, and the artifacts were fascinating! Adults and teens were engaged from beginning to end. Highly recommended!

Authentic antiquity collection on permanent loan from Israeli government.

By kcbatlanta |

This museum relocated from Jerusalem with the backing of the Calloway Foundation. Located near LaGrange hospital but use Google maps to find it. Informative tour guide shared cultural and historical background of Biblical times. Life size outdoor replicas of archaeological digs of wine presses, tombs, Canaanite and Jewish altars, sheep pens, city gates and Roman theater seating. Gift shop stocked with Israeli jewelry, olive wood nativity sets and ornaments, Jerusalem pottery, and books, maps and posters for teaching materials. Over 250 artifacts include ancient jewelry, fishing and hunting tools, cooking utensils, millstones, anchors, authentic coins, vessels, skeletons, clothing, and pottery. Gardens include olive trees, rosemary, figs and grapes -- most bearing fruit this time of year. (mid June.) With reservations, the museum will serve a meal to groups of 10 or more to demonstrate eating customs of the first century. We weren't able to stay for a meal, but would consider it for a field trip for a high school Old Testament survey course. Wish I could post pictures but TripAdvisor is not giving me that option on this review. Maybe the museum has not paid TA for marketing???

A Rare Experience--Israel Visits the SE!

By WSCC Millbrook ... B |

We had a BLESSED time with Carol today. WellSpring Community Church (Millbrook, Alabama) has been wanting to visit for eons. It was worth the wait. May Yahweh bless and keep you each...special appreciation to Carol, but also to all who make bringing Israel to America just a little bit more possible. Eternal investments pay priceless dividends. Proverbs 11:25! ❤

General: closest we may get to seeing everyday Bible life--all facets--in 2022. From the meal (with a multitude of foods to sample and the why behind each, as well as the how for eating/serving/fellowship/duty structure) to the guided tour of the outside garden replicas/plants/archaeological and cultural structures to the galleries with a wide variety of daily artifacts on loan from Israel, we were immersed. The WHY behind it all was fully intriguing, leaving you want to research more. For example, what is a BEMA seat, and how does it pertain to us? Carol's skill as a presenter held us and we were sad when it was over. Nothing God does is without symbolism and purpose. A glance "behind the curtain" explains what our read of the Bible today cannot contextualize...however, it sends you right back to the Word for it to mean all the more. Well done, good and faithful servants!

Visit at Easter and Christmasx

By Travelity |

The Christmas and Easter events are wonderful and very meaningful. (Costumed tour guides, video and sound effects are offered during the holidays which help to paint a more realistic picture.) I went once in the summer with a friend on a self-guided tour, and it wasn't as special.

The Biblical History Center portrait and explanation of the last supper makes sense and differs greatly from DaVinci's painting.

They offer meals disciple style for groups. In looking forward to trying that down the road.

Walking back in time

By AtlantaDonna |

I've been here two times in the last month and both tours were different. This was so interesting and fun. Eating the meal was a great experience, too! Don't miss this amazing place!!!

Awesome and Fun Way to Learn More About the Bible and the History of the Times

By Elaine D |

The Biblical History Center offers self-guided tours and guided tours. We took the guided tour and were honored to have Hannaniah Pinto as our guide. I literally felt like I was sitting at the feet of a great teacher. My husband and I just completed one of the 3-day conferences offered at the center and did the artifact part of the tour again with another guide, Vern. He, too, is awesome! With each guide, we learned some new things which makes going back again and again worthwhile and meaningful. I would highly recommend if you have the time to schedule a spot in one of the Biblical meals they offer. Schedule several hours for this remarkable place, and take your time exploring and listening and asking questions. The staff is sooooooo friendly too!!!!

Like being in Israel!

By Joy B |

If you can't go to Israel come to LaGrange, GA. Explorations in Antiquity is incredible with the exhibits and atmosphere that you have stepped back into biblical times. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. We even did a Passover Meal which was not only delicious but very informative about the original Passover and the Jewish traditions. Truly a gem of a place in Georgia.

Bringing the Bible to life.

By TomT_9 |

Exhibits very interesting, along with genuine artifacts from Israel supplemented with replicas. But what really brought it all to life was our guide (docent?), Carol. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Would love to return some day and experience the meal event. The gift shop area was a bit sparse, but that wasn’t a big issue. A very enjoyable couple of hours.

Multi-faceted experience

By localherenow |

There is a lot to experience and learn here. Part walking tour with replicas of ancient dwellings, primitive but effective olive processing equipment, a working cistern, and depictions of funereal ceremonies, plus a museum with some surprisingly rare artifacts. Our guide Vern was exceptionally good, personable and very knowledgeable always asking if we had any questions to which he always had the answers! Well worth a visit!

Educational

By Jim and Ann D |

Wonderful and informative two hours followed by a meal that would have been enjoyed bin the time of Jesus and still enjoyed now. Anyone interested in archeology or the Bible would find this extremely interesting. Would go back again.

OUR GROUP LOVED IT AND WANT TO GO BACK

By zablob |

A group from our church went on a trip that i set up. It was our second trip to the Center. Everyone had an awesome time and learned so much more about the Bible. Now they are ready to go back!!!

Brilliant

By watchmenjames |

I am a theological scholar and very devoted to Jesus and history. As ah Apologetics' as well I find this place to be a hidden gem and a must see.

Surprised how good this is.

By Janekws |

We took our whole family ages 11-74 and everyone liked it. Several were really skeptical about going and were amazed how good it was. The guide from Israel was really on the ball. We learned so much. The passover meal was excellent.

Experience the Holy Land without a passport

By Gary M |

Hundreds of artifacts from Israel are on display in addition to a life size replica of portions of a typical town like Jerusalem, goat hair Shepherd's tents, burial tombs, and much much more; with knowledgable tour guides who bring it all to life.

Fantastic Learning Experience.

By MarsOrbiter |

You need a guide. If you try to self-guide, you will miss out on all the wonderful explanations of biblical life and times which bring things to life! And even better if you can book into one of their 3 day conferences. The center has a very competent staff and knowledgeable experts in archaeology and the bible. My wife and I were there for a 3 day conference led by Dr. James Fleming, and it was AMAZING. He gave us insights into the geography of Jerusalem and the Temple mount, the way to interpret scriptures as they would have been understood by the people at that time, how the Old Testament informs and shapes the understanding of the New. Dr. Fleming brings humor and compassion to all of his lectures as well as a wealth of knowledge gathered over decades as an archaeologist, historian, and resident in Israel. A tour of the Center and a meal like around a triclinium (like the Last Supper) were included. I can't comment on the daily tours offered, but judging from the quality of our visit, I would guess it is something not to be missed.

EIA is a great combination of education, infomation, and fun! This was time well-spent! The docents are very knowledgeable and interesting. There are interesting visuals and print information.

The Trials of Jesus Conference

By Ronnie W |

Just completed a conference where Dr Fleming presented eight lectures on the Trials of Jesus. The conference was GREAT !!!
I learned much Biblically based information that was new to be, supported by archaeological discoveries in Israel.
I highly recommend a visit to the Biblical History Center for everyone.

biblical center - a must

By Linda Crumpton |

It was so realistic and they even have artifacts that are from Biblical times on loan from Isreal. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and answered questions that were presented to him. This is a must see if you are in the area. Be sure you partake in the last supper that is cooked in the kitchen , it costs extra but is well worth it. thank you Vern, our tour guide !!!

Travel Back in Time

By Jim B |

We really enjoyed Explorations in Antiquity. We did the self-guided tour and it was really nice to be able to stroll through antiquity at our own leisurely place taking great pictures and making wonderful memories. It is definitely worth the extra admission to go in to see the Israeli artifacts and the guided tour would probably give you much more exposure to the customs and practices of the time but we really enjoyed our visit. We cannot wait until the new section is completed to go back to see it as well.

By Jean T |

Actually it was Aug. 2013... An absolutely amazing place to visit for people interested in the Biblelands and customs of those living during that time. We allowed only a couple of hours but wish we had done our homework because there are so many extra activities to do, but you need to have a reservation first. Even so... Touring around the "mini" Biblelands (no reservation necessary) was an incredible experience with different exhibits where you could actually touch and experience- i.e. a goathair tent, lots of artifacts, a manger, getting a feel of walking on the roads typical of that day. Although located in an industrial park, you actually feel like you've made a trip to Israel when you are ready to leave.

Bringing the Bible to life

By grandmalovestravling |

Saw this place on Trip Advisor for things to see in LaGrange. It is a very interesting place, although much smaller than we had hoped for the $15 admission fee. Would probably have been more interesting had we went on a guided tour and had the meal. There was a group of older ladies that had done both and seemed to be enjoying it all. They give you a brochure to do a self-guided tour - lots of reading. There are areas set up as how people lived in Bible times. Some steep steps involved on some displays, but you don't have to go up them unless you want to. They will be having live events during the holidays with actors in character, check their website for details.

Fantastic and would highly recommend it

By dlitton |

We toured the Explorations in Antiquity and loved it. I will totally come back and bring others. The bible came alive and the artifacts were so well done. The tour and the tour guides are top notch! The meal was great too. I would recommend this hidden gem to everyone!

wonderful Biblical History Center

By Gale T |

We really enjoyed it here and our tour. The guide was very friendly and funny, full of information. All of the staff were friendly and energetic. They did a great job at depicting biblical times and helping us to understand the times and the bible better. I wish I had known about the meal they have where you eat the same way and some of the same types of food that Jesus did, we would have surely reserved a spot. Theres always next year. We plan to return again in the future. They even have an area for children to dig for fossils and artifacts. We definitely recommend it.

Wonderful Experience

By gatrvler777 |

We learned so much! The guide was wonderful. We went on the tour and enjoyed the biblical meal. The guide explained what the culture was during the times of the Bible and gave insight into certain passages of Scripture. The biblical meal was delicious and informative. It helped us greater understand the Lord's Supper. There was so much to learn that we could easily do it again and learn something new. We are a family, with kids ages 9 and 11. The kids enjoyed it as much as the adults.

AUTHENTIC ISRAEL HERE IN LAGRANGE GEORGIA

By Jane W |

The ancient treasures from Israel are amazing. Because I was with a small group (7) for the first time, I really got to look at them and the guide at the same time. Greg did a great job on the group tour. We learned some fascinating things about the cross and Passion week.
The meal too was full of interesting information. Food was good especially the spinach dip. One of our group thought he would have enjoyed eating without the continual commentary from the guide.
At the end of the tour our guide refused a personal tip because he says he doesn't need one because he loves doing the tours.

Not what we expected - got abandoned 3/4 of the way through the tour.

By Linda W |

We visited during a non-busy time of the year. I had booked and prepaid for our tour weeks before our scheduled trip. When we got there we were taken to a room and waited. The room looked like a rundown classroom with maps on the walls and metal folding chairs. Our guide finally came in about 15 minutes after our scheduled tour time. We were paired up with a group that had all but 2 people that only spoke Russian and they had 1 interpreter. So for the entire tour our guide was talking a bit slower than what I think she normally would have and stopped often to let the interpreter catch up. Because of that we only got to see a few sections of the tour we were scheduled for. Then, the other group was scheduled for a meal that was ready 30 minutes early. So our guide left us standing outside - tour unfinished and escorted the other group to their meal. We never saw her again. A few minutes later another guide came out and showed us inside an artifact area and that was it. She said we could download an app if we wanted more information on the areas that our guide was unable to show us. What?? Very disappointed that we paid for the complete tour and basically got dumped about 3/4 of the way through. Not very impressed and I wanted to be. I really, really wanted to love this place and I know their mission is from the heart. But it was so disappointing to be left standing outside with the tour incomplete and be told to download an app. Our group was myself, my mother (a spry senior), 3 teens and 2 kids ages 9 and 10.

The Bible Comes Alive

By HRL |

What was life like in ancient Judea, when Jesus, the apostles, and Paul walked? This museum features indoor and outside displays showing a biblical village and ancient artifacts, many of which have been loaned by the State of Israel.

A first class experience

By David B |

I've been to Israel six times and if a person is unable to go there this is the next best place to get a perspective of life in biblical times. Dr. Jim Fleming is a true visionary in developing this site and still has more exciting developments in the near future.

A whole new understanding of scripture

By jhw614 |

This offers a wonderful visual to understand scriptural references. When you see the oasis, Bedouin tent (emphasizing the importance of hospitality), stable with manger, watchtower, grapevines, olive press, Canaanite altar compared to Israelite altar, threshing floor, sheepfold, and typical home of biblical times, it is absolutely eye-opening. If possible, participate in the biblical meal, and definitely see the artifacts gallery!

Educational experience

By Sheryl M |

We came to this museum expecting a interesting meal and tour but took away the most delightful, educational experience of the year.
My granddaughter is part of a homeschool group that participate in Classical Conversation's. This tour was a truly wonderful, biblical experience we will all remember.
The "guide" is an archeologist with a obvious love of what he does and the ability to bring to life these items and times for us.
We also had the meal and recommend this to anyone wanting to know more of the feel of the walk of Jesus on earth.
Plan to visit again with family members.

A step back in time

By Louis S |

This small site reproduces some of the features found in the Holy Land at the time of Jesus. They have a shepherd's tent, a sheepfold, a model house, a threshing floor, a wine and a olive press, a watch tower and a grain mill. I just had a short visit but would come again.

Great Family Christmas Season Trip

By Julie |

The Follow the Shepherd Tour (archaeological look at the First Christmas) was educational, interesting and entertaining for our family. Our 11-year old loved listening to our guide Carol. The Biblical meal was great as well! We would definitely visit again to participate in other tours!

Unexpected enjoyment!

By Marla W |

Picked up a brochure at Hills & Dales and decided to visit. Accidentally were included with a local group and had the 15 course dinner (no utensils) replicating how Jesus and desciples would have eaten. Very educational and has more artifacts from Israel than any other location in the US. Well worth the time. Probably the closest we will get to Israel. Artifacts displayed as if they were in use. Very informative.

Overpriced, underwhelming

By rmdela |

I visited the Biblical History Center while visiting a friend in GA. When we arrived around 10:15 a.m., we were told that the next guided tour wouldn't be available until 1:30 p.m. Neither of us was interested in killing that much time, so we opted for the self-guided tour, which cost $20 each. I thought that was a ridiculous amount for a pamphlet that basically gave the same information that was on the signs.
As we went through the replica garden, it seemed like they couldn't decide whether they were trying to focus on Israelite history in general or Bible history in particular, and the result was that neither was done well. For a number of the features, I couldn't understand their choice of scripture to use as a tie-in; other passages would have fit better, and some of their interpretations were inaccurate based on the study I have done. Some of their displays were also inconsistent with information from other researchers I have heard. The replica garden is quite small, and we covered it in about 20 minutes. I don't see how a guided tour would have made it much better (and I'm sure that would have cost more). Very disappointing.

Great for hands on learning

By shoehornCa_ |

For those who cannot visit Israel ,the Biblical History Center takes you through the practical daily life of Middle Eastern families in Biblical times. Replicas of living quarters, threshing floors, sheep quarters, an olive press, a wine press, and others help us visualize the background of many scriptures. Jesus taught the people in simple terms using parables using metaphors they understood. This museum helps those interested in Biblical history understand why Jesus spoke of sheep vs. goats during judgement, what Jesus meant when He said He is the door of the sheepfold, why Gethsemane meaning oil press is relevant to Christ, and so much more. They offer a luncheon for $35. each that has middle eastern food and a tour. A great place to bring children, especially in the summer when they offer summer camps or during Christmas season.

This place is great and will change your life as you learn about Biblical History

By Flblackbear |

Amazing and informative tour of replica of Middle East community. I learned new facts and tour was so good I couldn’t believe it was a couple of hours. This place will change your life. Awesome!!!

I always learn something

By Aylaeh C |

I have been to this museum multiple times. Each time I go I learn something new. I especially like the meals that they serve and the explanations that the tour guide gives.

We will go again!

By ann b |

We were not aware that the ancient artifacts have not been placed in the exhibit hall yet. We joined a tour group and were guided around the property which had displays of village life from Biblical days. Very interesting. We were not able to partake of the meal but we were allowed to go in and watch. We plan to bring a church group next fall when the artifacts are on display. Historical information was given which was sometimes contrary to what we believe to be true.

Informative but small

By Janet M |

We brought 35 folks from our church to the Biblical History Center. The docent who led our tour was very knowledgeable and kept our attention. Due to the size of our group we had to split the antiquities tour portion into 2 separate groups. One group waited in the gift shop (which is quite small with little to peruse) for about 20 minutes while the other half of the group viewed the antiquities. Not ideal but understandable as they aren't of the size to accommodate large groups. The garden tour was our favorite. As Easter was approaching the docent made the tour quite relevant to the crucifixion and resurrection. Overall, very well done.

Neat experience!

By Amy S |

Wow! This exceeded expectations! Our docent, Emily, was incredibly knowledgeable about customs, historical accuracy and was able to share context of the customs of the period to the Bible stories which really helped to understand the Bible stories more deeply.

We did the Empty Tomb tour with the meal. The meal was really informative and discussed how the customs of the period actually would have been during The Last Supper. The food was good too. It was just a really neat experience, particularly leading up to Easter.

The historical artifacts that they have are unbelievable and Emily’s depth of knowledge about the the archaeological obstacles and processes involved in procuring the artifacts as well as explanations of what some of the pieces were and how they would have been used in daily life added an extra level of value to the exhibits and tour.

I had three sullen teens with me on this tour who were not overly excited about “forced family fun”, particularly when it involved getting up extra early on the first day of a stormy spring break to make the drive for our scheduled tour time. Their expectations were exceedingly low and they all commented that they enjoyed it and had a much better time than they had expected.

Bring the Bible to Life!

By MsJulieAnnL |

Excellent place to visit. It links events in the bible to the culture of the time period. Brings the bible to life!

Absolutely Amazing

By KSylvest2015 |

Accessible to power/wheel chairs, this tour is a must for everyone. Our guide was informative and explained things thoroughly. The bible was brought to life and was very interesting. We did the meal as well and this in itself was a delightful learning experience. I recommend this attraction to everyone.

Had high expectations, but they weren’t met

By jenned17 |

In reading other reviews, I think the key to the Biblical History Center is to have a guided tour. My friend and I did not and received little to no instruction as to what to see/do/interpret. The archaeological garden needs more and detailed signage to know what you’re viewing. Same with the artifacts. They were not labeled and no guidebook was offered to truly appreciate and understand what you were looking at.

The Olive Festival was taking place the day we visited and even it had only four or five stations with foods to taste and vendors offering samples and selling goods like blueberry wine and olive oil. It was hardly what I would call a festival.

I left feeling disappointed as I had such high expectations of a grand experience of something I really wanted to see.

A True Taste of Biblical History!

By thet3acher |

A diamond in the rough, the Biblical History Center was a WONDERFUL place to get a glimpse of what life might have been like during the days of Jesus. From the sheep's pen to the city market to the crucifixion tree, The BHC really immerses the visitor through their fabulous dioramas and knowledgeable staff. The section of actual Holy Land artifacts was mesmerizing as you look upon actual items found in archaeological excavations! Our fourth graders loved the docents and learned a LOT as we walked through this A+ experience!

A Beautiful Gem Of A Museum, in a Lovely Southern Town

By Elaine Woodall M |

This is a fabulous learning and understanding the Bible museum. It is worth every mile to drive down and "discover" this wonderful place.

Great place to visit especially on Holy Thursday.

By thetraveler002 |

A wonderful experience. Our guide Vern Jordin was extremely knowledgeable and gave us the feeling that we were looking into Bible history. Many inisghts were gained into the connection between the Hebrew scriptures and the life and times of Jesus. We felt as though we were transported back in time 2000 years. The artefacts portion of the center is definately worth the extra time to visit. We were there for about three hours and enjoyed every minute.

Must See! VERY Interesting Biblical History Center

By slvf7 |

The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tours and artifacts were absolutely amazing. We participated in the Biblical meal and we visited during the Christmas live nativity experience, including animals (sheep, goats, donkey, camel...). The meal is a must! We learned so much as we heard about the symbolic significance of the various foods and Biblical stories. I definitely recommend this fascinating Biblical Center and I plan to go again to hear more about the various historical events.

Worthwhile and informative!

By Patricia M |

This was our first visit but it won't be our last. We were there from 10 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and our guide was with us the entire time. Our guide, Vern, was entertaining, patient, witty, and, well-informed. He made the Bible come alive. We all left with a deeper understanding of what life must have been like in the ancient world. I look forward to taking another group of friends so they can experience the Garden Walk, the Biblical Meal, and the Artifacts Gallery. It was well worth the $35 price to do it all!

A great place to visit for those interested in ancient Israel.

By just_an_inkling |

Explorations in Antiquity is truly a labor of love. After having to close down a similar attraction in Israel years ago, the owner/founder (a respected archaeologist) recreated his version of Israel in LaGrange, GA.
Take the tour; it's very informative if you're interested in learning about the Israel of the Bible. A tour takes about 2 hours and is probably most appropriate for adults. No doubt some children or youth will be engaged for the duration, but for my group of teenagers this was pushing it. I think they have some events designed specifically for younger groups, but I can't speak to their quality.
Explorations in Antiquity will soon be adding an exhibit of items on loan from an Israeli museum, which will add to this experience.

Mucy to be learned here!

By S S |

Bible history comes alive thru the guided tours at the Center. We had Vern as our guide; he is very well versed in his facts and history, even throwing in some interesting tidbits of culture and customs throughout the tour. After the 2 hour tour under his guidance, we now have a much better understanding of how and why some events are so tied in with each other. Definitely recommended for a great Bible lesson.

Like being in the Bible

By Virginia C |

I took a course there on the trials of Jesus which was an eye opener to say the least. We toured the garden and the museum with many artifacts. Having been to Israel, I can say that this is the next best thing. It shouldn't be missed if you're interested in archeology, the Bible or history. The meal was excellent and very informative.

What an Enjoyable Day in Biblical Times!

Everything was impressive: from the introduction, to the guided tour thru the exhibits, to seeing the Israel artifacts, the delicious Biblical meal, and the gift shop. Just a very enjoyable day.

Like Visiting Old Israel, Only in Georgia! WELL WORTH THE VISIT!

By Douglas M |

Wow! My daughter invited me to take the day off and go with her to The Biblical History Center. It was well worth the visit!!!

From the moment we arrived, Sherry (a retired Coast Guard veteran) rolled out the red carpet. She is an amazing host and manager.

It is VERY child friendly with LOTS of interactive learning only 90 minutes away from Kennesaw, Ga.

The kids even got to take dough, hand shape it into pita, and throw them on a iron skillet over a wood fire, then cover it with butter and honey. Miss Wooten was so kind to both us and the large group of children studying the "city"/village.

I have been to Israel several times and once you pass through the gift shop and ticket area you are walking into another time and an ancient world. It was so authentic that if I posted pictures and told people I was in Israel, they would believe me!

There is a reason museum/interactive life size village has won lots of awards! It is well worth the drive and nominal fee they charge to enter.

There is a 1st class gift shop with snacks and drinks and inside displays too. ALL the staff were very friendly.

Wear good walking shoes. It was only a half mile of walking and there are plenty of places to sit. Sherry very thoughtfully had a cooler with free water abd cups out to keep guests hydrated.

Even though the parking lot was full, once inside the spacious buildings and gardens, we didn't feel crowded at all.

A Must See

By Janice T |

This is a treasure and is done so well! Explorations is like walking through the Bible. The guides do such a great job of bringing it to life. We have been 3 times and there is always something different to see and hear.

Best tour guides

By lafayettegardeninn |

It was like sitting at the feet of Jesus. If you've ever wanted to go to Israel/Jerusalem but could not afford it, you should visit the Explorations in Antiquity. Their guides are very knowledgeable, because most have lived in Isreal and traveled to those places. The Biblical meal was fabulous. I thought it would be like finger foods, but it was a full meal and we were all full when we left. I have visited here 3 times and always learn something new. Recently they have Bible Land Adventure for children, referencing Egypt, Israel & Rome. The Kid's Dig and the Shepherd's walk are amazing and fun things for the kid's to do.

Inspiring!

By Terry B |

It was like going to Israel at the time Jesus walked the Earth. It was a very emotional experience for me. Very inspiring and interesting. The guide was the most friendly and educated lady.
If you are serious about your Chistian walk, go!
And do not miss the meal, you will be sorry.

Great Experience

By Rosie O |

We went yesterday since my mom is in town. Our tour guide was GREAT!! We learned so much, and the exhibits were very high quality. They have very rare artifacts that I was VERY impressed with. I'd recommend it to anyone!!!

Makes me excited to go Israel!

By LSudd |

We are going to Israel in March and visiting the Biblical History Center was a wonderful introduction! Our guide, Vern, was SO knowledgeable and made the exhibits even more interesting the way he explained things. The display of artifacts from Israel is an amazing collection. Don’t miss participating in the authentic meal!!

A fabulous walk through history. A must see.

By lrybagrayson |

We did the Holy Week tour in the spring which was awesome. This visit was just as fabulous. We enjoyed the history, the artifacts, the passover meal.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!

By 812travelover |

This was my second visit to the the Biblical History Center. This second trip was just as amazing as the first. The first trip was so informative as to the daily life of the people and Jesus. The second trip this week was their Easter tour which centered on the few days before and after the crucifixion. SO informative. DO NOT SKIP THE LAST SUPPER!! The meal is amazing and worth the extra charge. Not only is the food delicious, but the docent is explaining details about the last supper all during the meal. Christy was our docent this trip, and she is so knowledgable and a delight to be around. I would recommend this for everyone. Not only is it biblical, it is a fantastic history lesson for anyone.

Biblical archeological history.

If you're interested in Biblical history during the time of Jesus, this is a great place to visit. There is a wealth of archeological information on the life and times of Jesus Christ.

Morning visit with Jewish biblical lunch

By John C |

Morning visit with Jewish lunch, learned what was typically eaten during biblical times. Outside exhibits showing living space.

Guided tour was awesome

By livelife h |

This place was very educational and our tour guide Larhonda was very informative. The replicas and the artifacts were beautiful. Definitely alot of information on the Biblical times.

Great visit

By mikki777 |

We loved visiting this place. Great staff and fun to just do a self guided tour. I'm glad there's the option of exploring and reading on your own and not having to do a guided tour if you don't want to. Especially b/c we love to stop and take lots of pics. That can be tough in a group. Loved all the outdoor areas of replicas etc. Even in the rain it can be enjoyed because of the overhead covering they put outside. The staff is great and knowledgeable too. We also liked the artifacts on display from Israel.

Great education and interesting too!

By Catherine T |

I've been 3 times, have had a different tour guide each time and they all share different stories, details. It's fascinating, like a mini trip to Israel.

Wonderful example from the biblical world -- in LaGrange, Georgia!

By Dr. Dennis C. Malone |

I have been to the Biblical History Center numerous times and each time with a group of engaged learners. This time I brought a group from our spring BibIe Institute. We came for the entire experience. Each member of the group expressed how much the experience brought culture and scripture to life in meaningful manner. After the tour and meal we stayed a while longer and I enjoyed answering many more questions. Take your group, no matter what size. They will be glad that you invested in them at the Biblical History Center.

Very overrated

By Jameson K |

It was pretty boring straight from the get-go. My husband and I also felt like we weren't welcomed there because we were gay. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

Wonderful Visit

By David G |

The tour guide was very informative regarding this very interesting exhibit. It really felt like we were in the Bible times. Very authentic!

So wonderful

By luvthebanksBristolVa |

Really enjoyed our visit. Our tour guide Vern is so knowledgeable and you can tell he really loves what he does and is excited about it. We included the Biblical Meal in our visit and it was so good. Again Vern is an excellent speaker. We were there several hours but it is well worth the time you are there. This place really takes you back to the time of Jesus and brings the Bible to life for you.

A Great Experience!

By FaulknerCheryl |

Our guide, Vern Jordin, made the Bible "come off the page" for me! Every display let you experience the old stories in a new way, and I thoroughly enjoyed Vern's enthusiasm and expertise. I will be going back to visit again!

A Wonderful Experience!!

By Reese N |

We went for the Biblical meal and tour. The whole experience was amazing. Our docent, Carol, was incredibly informative and knowledgeable. We all gained many new insights into scripture and the events of Biblical times. Definitely glad to have had this experience!!

Very informative

By tomngale |

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Biblical History Center. The tour guide for very informative regarding the Biblical accounts of each section of the Center. I would suggest going at a time when the temperature is not extremely hot. The temperature was pushing 100 degrees when we went. The museum was very interesting and air conditioned. The gift shop was as good as those in Jerusalem. I would highly recommend the Biblical History Center for individuals or groups.

I have been twice, once with the family and again with large group! The group visit included a guided tour and lunch with authentic food!r

Amazing details

By Tracey H |

the amount of history crammed into such a small space is amazing. There is so much to take in. It was a great tour for those that have been and not have been to Israel.

Amazing experience

The exhibits--replicas were very good. The goat hair tent area is one of my favorites along with the olive oil press. The Biblical Meal was delicious and the information presented has given me a new "lense" with which to read the Holy
Scriptures

It exceeded my expectations. We were unable to attend the meal this visit, but we hoping that our church, Covenant Baptist will go soon so that we can enjoy a meal with them.

Amazing & Educational

The guided tour was so informative & interesting! Our favorite part was the Passover meal! I highly recommend spending a few hours here! My family & I will definitely be going back.

Awesome experience!

Despite covid impacts we and our grandson had a wonderful, memorable time. The artifacts and various recreations were very good and our guide was very knowledgeable and made things even more interesting.

Third Visit

By Linda W |

This is a hidden gem in LaGrange GA. If you love history or artifacts or just want to hear entertaining stories. I highly recommend this center. Make sure you include the MEAL. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful experience!

By Joan T |

Our trip to the Bible History Center surpassed our expectations. If you live in or around Atlanta, it is a perfect day trip. Or stay in Callaway Gardens and go from there. Our guide made the Bible come alive and the stories were interesting and filled with biblical history. The meal is not to be missed. Not only is it informative, but also delicious in every way. I highly recommend this Georgia experience.

If you can't afford a trip to the holy land this is the next best thing!

By mmmjlm16 |

My friend and I were blown away with all the information that is available here. Dr. Fleming has assembled the most amazing way to present Bible history that is informative and interesting to all ages. Everything is done with great detail and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable on life back in Christ's time. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire presentation of how life was lived by the shepherds, farmers, and villagers back then. I would strongly recommend calling for reservations prior to going and take advantage of the meal that is offered too. We are going back for the Christmas pageant and recommending our churches take their youth groups there as well. One of the best experiences ever!!!

This is a "must do" experience

By SydaLeaSchnebly |

Our tour guide, Carol, gave very detailed explanations of the displays of scenes as they may have appeared in first century Israel. As we are approaching Easter, our tour highlighted information pertaining to the trials and crucifixion of Jesus. I would like to return for their tour that focuses on the birth of Christ. The Biblical meal was delicious and very educational with Carol's explanations.

Fascinating!

By Melodycthomas |

What a phenomenal experience this center was. Recreations of the desert lifestyle with an oasis, a goat hair tent, sheepfolds, tombs, threshing floor, olive press, and 4-room home brought the Middle East to life. Our guide, JC (really), told us stories of the early Bedouin and Jews as they lived before and during the time of Jesus Christ and the Roman Empire. This is only one of three places that Israel has donated artifacts for historical exhibits. The gift shop is full of unique items to buy.

Priceless Gem

By Michelle V |

By far this is one of the best 'hidden' gems of Lagrange. It is suitable for small group gatherings, as well as family outtings. They offer great educational presentations and a nice gift shop (especially for the holidays- like Christmas or Easter, or for anyone who enjoys historical replica artifacts). On occasion they have dramatical plays to tell the story of the period (era) or a meal gathering with period food. Very knowledgeable staff. One can almost grantee that you'll learn somerhing new. Call for the best details available.

Excellent resource to learn more about Biblical times

By Barbara333444 |

I took a group of about 40 folks and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The guides were very knowledgeable! Don't miss the Biblical passover meal!

enjoyed

By rachmoore214 |

I came with the senior group from my church. We really enjoyed the tour and all the history and Biblical facts. I also liked the meal and the info about the customs of eating meals in Jesus times.

Awesome

By Janice J |

This was to me the highlight of our trip. I learned as much from Oliver in the one visit as I did on my trip to the Holy Land. We even had a meal such as would have been served in Biblical times.

Don't Go In the Winter

By sweetshrub |

This was certainly a place I wanted to visit while in LaGrange. I always enjoy historic/religious learning experiences when I travel. The folks who run this attraction are very nice and helpful but unless you have a group of people, you can't get a tour of the grounds. We were not lucky enough to be able to have the meal. There was nobody else there but us. Admission to the attraction is a little pricey but the artifact museum was worth the extra money and I enjoyed it. Our visit was in November and the leaves had already fallen and were scattered about. Outside, a lady was sanding one of the sign holders and the sound of the sander took away from my ability to mentally transport my mind to the land of the Bible. I realize that attendance was probably low at that time of year but I have to say I was disappointed that of the several people who were working there, no one was able to give us a tour. I know that is not how it works but I would be so much more likely to recommend this attraction if it had been better cared for and I hadn't had to read my little book at every point of the exhibit. There is so much potential for learning here but I felt a little cheated.

Quite an experience

This was so much fun. It's like a quick trip to Israel. We've been to Israel and it seems quite authentic. I would definitely put this on my trip schedule. The gift shop was amazing to me. Jesus ' Blessings and Peace Mary

Ancient explorations

By AmarilisVos |

We visited this site on June 5th 2012. A lovely lady showed us what there was to see, before we could explore everything in detail by us own with the help of the Walking Tour Guide Book. Because there was no Biblical Meal the day of our visit the lady showed and explained it. It was a rainy day, luckely most of the area has a roof. I think this will be handy on a warm and sunny day too. The free parking is right in front of the building.
If you want to learn something about the way they lived and worked during the life of Jesus, you are on the right place.

It takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours if you have the dinner of food of biblical times, which was excellent. The center has been renamed Explorations in Antiquity Center.
The construction of the buildings, landscape, burial cave, tents, waterways, water wheel, olive oil processing area, tools, weapons, burial process area are realistic and life sized. They are very impressive.
The meal was great with a very gracious host. In fact the guided tour guide was very informative and entertaining. He told us the real meaning of words and phrases of the ancient times. You really need to visit.

So much more than I expected!

By Molly A |

I found this on trip advisor when my husband and I were looking for something to do today, to enjoy the first cool-ish Saturday we have had. We live about 40 minutes away, and felt that was a reasonable drive. This place had SO much to see and learn, even before you got in the front doors. We didn't arrange a tour but were able to join one that had just started. The guide was so personable and you could tell how much the place means to him. There were life-size structures showing a small town in Israel during Biblical times, beautiful gardens, structures such as tombs, alters, wine presses, millstones, a Roman aqueduct and a typical Israeli home you could walk through. The crucifixion area was especially moving. I grew up in a Christian home and attended a Christian college, and I still learned so much today. The indoor exhibits that are on loan from Israel are fascinating. We will definitely be coming back here with our families! Looking forward to Christmas or Easter events we heard about.

Visiting Biblical Times - for real !

By AtlantaGrams |

This place is absolutely amazing ! The Guides are extremely knowledgeable and make learning about living in Biblical Times fun. I have visited twice and learned new things each time. It is like walking through a village with complete life sized house; wine press; mill grinding; tomb, etc. And then there is the Museum to go through that is sealed and temperature controlled to preserve the artifacts. ( I have always wanted to visit the Holy Land, and this is as close to it as I will ever get - but that is ok.) Almost forgot the meal to emulate the Last Supper - awesome and a marvelous learning experience too. I just can't say enough - what a learning, history treasure this is !

Loved the Biblical Meal!

By Marilyn F |

We went with a group of 41 on a bus tour. We had a wonderful docent named Judy. She was so informative and knew her Biblical history. We enjoyed a meal that represented a meal from Biblical times. Guided tours and Biblical meals are by reservation only. If you go on your own it is self-guided and you won't get all of the information our guide provided. There is a cost for the tour and meal. They had a wonderful gift shop with many items from Israel. It is well worth the time spent. We spent 5 1/2 hours including the meal time. Just the tour alone is $20 pp and $40 pp for the meal and the tour. I would recommend doing the meal if space is available.

Great day trip from Atlanta for family or group

By Larry E |

My wife and I drove down to Lagrange, Ga for a nice day trip and found out about the Biblical History Center. This place brings to life stories from the Bible right off the pages. It is an outdoor walk around the grounds that transport you back to life in Israel and how they lived and worked. The Center offers a true Sader meal if you have a group of 10 people or if they have a group you might can tag along. They have an example of true ancient antiquities from the middle east at the end of the tour. This is a must see for Christians as it brings the Bible alive for you.

Great place to visit

By KathyATLGA |

We learned so much! We were escorted by three different people who each had tremendous historical and biblical knowledge. Highly recommended!

Worth the stop.

Biblical education at it' best. We have been only once years ago. Planing on going back with our grandsons.

Don't Miss This!

By Deb G |

While my husband and I have been to Israel, these exhibits brought the Bible even closer. There are artifacts from Israel and life-sized replicas. There are themed tours available with a guide. Everything, from the biblical meal rich with meaning to the authentic goat and camel hair tents, to a four room replica of a house to the working water wheel; you are transported to a different time and place. A must for any Bible student or teacher! My husband and I are already planning a return trip. There is just too much to take in for one visit.

History Comes Alive

By NanaFun |

What an interesting evening! A group of senior adults experienced an evening immersed in the history and culture of Biblical times. The Biblical meal was a highlight of the evening. Morgan, our guide, was outstanding. She was both knowledgable and entertaining.

Wow!

By elite99999 |

We loved this experience. The re-creations of the city gate of Jerusalem, various settings of biblical life/events, and the knowledge of the docent was outstanding. We learned so much and it really brings things you've heard about all your life to "life". The real relics on loan from Israel in the museum are so interesting and displayed with artifacts and brought to life in wonderful displays. The meal served at the end of the tour really brings to life the Passover/Last Supper. I would do this again because we didn't get to see all of the displays on the tour. I feel it's something you could go to several times in the year and get a different experience, depending on whether they were focusing on the "Easter" season or "Christmas" or just regular biblical times. Definitely include the meal... It really tops off the experience. Highly recommended.

Unexpected treat

By Tina W |

My husband and I pastor a church in Florida and visited the center. There were no activities the day we were there but we still had a great time looking at all of the exhibits. Thanks to all who have made his place possible. The people were friendly and helpful.

Quite a long tour but so worth it. Learned a lot m ore about Israel 's antiquities.

By gotoyota |

Gives you a good idea of the history of Israel. Very well done tour of the facilities. The meal was very nice and filling and enjoyed learning the meaning and significance of the foods. Would go again.

Explorations in Antiquity Center

By Mary Ann E |

This was the best trip our church group has ever made. Can't believe I have lived in Atlanta all my life and never visited here. Our guide, Oliver, was awesome! I highly recommend this place. Am very sure we will make a return visit. The food was absolutely delicious and the way the information was presented, made you feel as if you were back in Bible times. I give it a 5-Star rating!!!

Excellent experience for the whole family.

By Kathy55287 |

My husband and I along with our 9 and 10 year old granddaughters took the Empty Tomb Tour complete with the “Last Supper” meal. The setting, the authenticity, the tour guide and the experience was wonderful. I highly recommend for the whole family!

SPIRITUALLY ENRICHING EXPERIENCE

By J W |

Outdoors, we walked through an extensive recreated village of ancient Israel. Indoors, we viewed artifacts on loan from Israel and experienced a Biblical meal during the four hour guided tour. The meal, tasty and filling, required reservations and additional cost, but was well worth it. We gained new insight into scripture through docent’s narrative and visuals and purchased resource books from the well-stocked gift store. The museum’s well done; the docent superb. Phoned two days prior for tour/meal information. Recommend for individuals or church groups.

This museum has so many ancient artifacts-it is wonderful!

By Paula V |

Jim Fleming, the archeologist from La Grange, who taught at Hebrew University in Israel, is a very famous archeologist of our time. He still leads groups to Mid East and has special programs at LaGrange. There is a museum that I could have spent 2 hours in easily. Also he built a village like it looked back in Jesus' time. It has a wine press, a watchtower, a threshing floor, an olive press, a house, a watermill, and many plants and trees from the area of Israel. I am going back in 3 weeks to spend some more time there. It would be a great church group experience too. You can reserve a time to have a meal they fix you from the time of Jesus. We are so lucky to have this in the South.

My cousin and I came to the Biblical History Center yesterday and it was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide, Vern, was very knowledgeable about the ancient history as well as the spiritual aspects of the events that took place. He was a captivating storyteller and it was obvious that he is passionate about his role there. The meal was delicious and everyone in our group was delightful and friendly. The tour length was adequate and meal length was perfect for a rest after the tour. I can’t think of any suggestions I would make because the afternoon was delightful, delicious, and informative. There was no idle time because the tour and meal are very organized. I would highly recommend this as a trip for families or church/school groups who want to learn and have a fun time.

Informative Experience

By Debra R |

Grandparents took 13yr old granddaughter. We did very informative tour with docent (but not meal). Docent (I think Emily) appeared very knowledgeable. Nicely done archeological replicas of village in Biblical times. The Museum is one of only eight museums in the world to house a long-term collection of artifacts from the Israeli Antiquity Authority . Tour lasted approximately 2 hours. We all enjoyed the experience.

Very engaging experience!

By klamarsh13 |

We enjoyed our visit very much with our tour guide, Vern. He did a great job of explaining what we were seeing and other things that we did not see at first glance. He made the scriptures come alive. We discovered how Jesus' took the ordinary things in daily life to explain the parables. We also enjoyed the meal and the explanation about cultural practices.

Hidden treasure

By Lilbit |

Tucked away in LaGrange, Georgia is a marvelous place. The Center is designed to bring the middle east experience of the Holy Land to wonderful, vibrant life. The approach remains rooted in archeology, culture and history. This is not an amusement park-it is not kitschy, nor flashy and flambuoyant. It is wonderful, experiential, educational and inspiring. The tours are given in an engaging manner, visually the center is chock full of sights and sounds that teach and inform almost as well as a trip to Israel. To get the most out of a visit, plan ahead if you can. Booking a seder meal is truly the most unique experience you can imagine, and fun for all ages. We took a group of tweens to senior adults and all of them had a great time. Arranging for the kids to have their own dig was lots of fun and brought home the nature of the work involved like nothing else. One of the most moving times to go is at Easter, but space can be limited. The programs there are constantly expanding and changing, so make sure you have the most current information from their website and not a printed guidebook.

I recently took my children/youth group from our church. We were blown away! This place really brought the Bible to life. Morgan did such a wonderful job engaging the kids and keeping them interested. She also had to work around the rainy weather. She was fabulous! I hate that we haven’t gone there before now. But we will definitely be back!

Best kept secret in Georgia

By 6223wolffork |

A lady told us about it at an Annie Moses concert. We visited and and had a meal before going with David Jeremiah to Israel this year....it was like a mini tour of Israel.....great book store...bought and read a book by the author there that put Israel in the perspective of Jesus' time...well worth travel and visit and cheaper than going to Israel.

A hidden jewel

By Dan |

Who would of thought you would find a well laid out Biblical archeology museum in LaGrange. Nothing against LaGrange, it just doesn't strike me as a place you would find this. Docents are knowledgeable and well trained. You get tremendous insight second only to visiting the Holy Land itself. Be sure to do the meal, there is so much symbolism in the way things were done. The website suggested 3 hours but I would have liked more time to read the signs on the outside displays.

Small but AMAZING venue

By champ4275 |

1st visit- several years ago- general information on all replicas of ancient Israel small town from gate to tent. My favorite fact: girls weave their tent covers & when finished (about 13) her dad put up a sign for people to know she could then wed.
2nd visit- several days ago- focus on time of birth of Jesus. Many fascinating explanations of various parts of venue. My favorite fact: There were no wooden ‘stables’. They were made from ample stone. Fascinated with circular stone corral with sides for goats on high side and sheep on slightly lower, shepherd slept in opening. Wooden stable scenes came from later European artist because wood was ready available there but not in Israel where stones were primary building supply.
Both visits- Real antiquities in dioramas with appropriate backgrounds- rare exhibit in USA.
BEST FOR upper elementary school plus children and adults without mobility problems.
Missed the additional cost Biblical era meal but think that would be interesting.

Exceeded our expectations!

By ElsaMom |

We were very fortunate to be part of a Sunday School Class touring EIA and Dr. Fleming and Hannaniah Pindo were our guides. We came away with a much greater understanding of life in biblical times. The artifacts exhibit was extraordinary and the Biblical meal was delicious and plentiful! This museum will be at the top of the list to take our out of town visitors to. Well done! It is very apparent that Dr. Fleming and his team are passionate about what they do.

Great Experience

Bible comes alive at Explorations in Antiquity

Had a great tour guide. So many authentic relics and models to depict of life in ancient Israel. This is really well done and informative. Will definitely recommend it to others.

Groups too large to fully enjoy

By Annie H |

We had a fantastic host teaching us along our journey through this delightful experience. I would rate it higher except they allowed too many folks into one group, making it very difficult to see items in the historical preservation area of antiquities while the teacher spoke of them. I am not sure how large most groups are, but we had 35 people and it really was not enjoyable with so many.

Food was plentiful and our host is a fantastic teacher in sharing in Jewish history and tradition of the time, though we wish they had not been so stingy with the chicken on skewers. My friend who told us of this place said that her group a few months ago was only 14 people and that they had unlimited chicken, so I think they just limited us because they allowed the group to get too large.? It was extremely well prepared, but they only allowed 2 per person, and my husband and I would have preferred more.

Online it states $30 per person, but when we got there, they charged us $35 each. When I mentioned it to the gal at the door, she said, she knew it and kept telling them to change the website, but it is in fact $35. Just seems that if it is advertised for $30 online and they know it, they should have honored it. Integrity.

Most of the time you will be indoors, but there are things to enjoy outdoors too, which, for the most part, you could find cover if it were to rain.

It is a bit hidden to find, and right when you think you are lost, you are there, so don't give up! I encourage you to visit, but verify how large the group is before you make reservations.

Fascinating

By George L |

After having heard Dr. James Fleming speak in other settings it was a joy to be able to attend a conference at Dr. Fleming's Explorations In Antiquities Center. If you have an interest in the settings for the stories of Scripture you will be enthralled with what you find at the Center. The outdoor portion of the museum has excellent life size archaeological replicas of things like a city gate, olive press and four room home like one might find at the time of Christ. You will be amazed by what putting Biblical stories in an informed historical context will do to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of Scriptures. The staff is uniformly pleasant and helpful. If you do stop I would aim to make a reservation so that you can be assured that a docent will be there to guide you through the displays. Your experience will be so much fuller with explanation.

If you learn by seeing, go here.

By shorttrips60 |

What a terrific place to see replicas of things you read about in the Bible. Great tour guide explained so much and it was inspiring as well as informative. Be sure to plan ahead and book a Biblical meal. Info says only groups of 10 or more but if you call ahead, you can be placed on a waiting list like we did. We were able to participate because they combined several smaller groups. So, so glad we did. It was so awesome! They are adding new stuff all the time and have special things for kids as well. Wish it were closer to attend some of the special shows at holiday time. One local we met prior to going told us he learns something new everytime he goes.

A walk back in time

By TedB8083 |

We attended a 3 day conference on our first visit to Explorations in Antiquity. Dr. James Fleming, biblical archeologist and founder, was the lecturer on the subject of recent finds that relate to Old and New Testament sites. His presentations were excellent! In addition the new museum of artifacts on long-term loan from the Israeli Antiquities Department was outstanding. Then, the outer exhibits of life in first century Holy Land were wonderful. Don't miss this place and events held there!

Mel was fulfilling and very informative.
Our guide , Linda, former 2nd grade teacher at a Christian school, was o helpful in providing a witness from God's Holy Word and on customs of the Bible and how they chose foods and why!
The garden tour was most helpful on Jesus cross/tree and tomb.
The artifacts of donations form Israel was informative also.

Wonderful experience

By Pam B |

This was my second visit and both experiences were great. I would highly recommend visiting to anyone. I gained invaluable insight into both new and old testament periods.

Explore the Bible here

By Linda-jo G |

This was an amazing step back on time. Visit life in the biblical days and learn by seeing how they lived. It makes the bible come to life. Don't miss it!

Just amazing.

By DwayneRay O |

It was everything we had expected and more in experiencing and learning. The personnel were wonderful and the exhibits were just amazing.

History

By Matt L |

If you love history and learning this is the best place to visit! From the time you get in the parking lot it's a learning experiance! Friendly staff and very knowledgable! Even an area for the kids to learn too!

Such a Wonderful Place

By R H |

This is an awesome place for anyone interested in Biblical History. It was a little difficult to find because the sign was a bit off the main highway where you turn onto Gordon Commercial Drive. Also, you might want to call ahead of time if you are wanting to participate in a guided tour. They will try to match you up with a group. Of course, you can tour this individually at your own pace as well and I understand you can redo the tour on your own after being with a guide if you choose to do so. Our guide said that each tour guide guide provides a different tour. We were a bit pushed for time that day, but I would love to go again when I have more time to spend.

Wonderful blessing!

By Tourist821530 |

It was a wonderful experience especially the Last Supper meal. The museum contained many original pieces from Egypt as well as Israel. The tour guide was very informative. The duplication of the cross was memorable. The meal is not to be missed.

Wonderful Experience

By ChaletMktgDirector |

This was an amazing place to visit. I learned so much from our guide. This is definitely a place everyone should visit. The Biblical meal was wonderful. Not only did it open my eyes to new facts but it was delicious! I think everyone of every age should visit the Antiquity Center. This is the way I like to learn!!

Best interpretation of the Ancient World in a 400 mile radius!

By Jennifer S |

This Antiquities center of learning is the Number One place to get understanding of what the Ancient World was like and their way of thought, too. EIA offers regular living history opportunities, archeological digs for children, and an impressive, docent-led supper-- reclining as the Romans did!

Guided tour

By Donna E |

Worth seeing for anyone interested in history and or the Bible. Our guide shared lots of knowledge The guide made it !

Bait and Switch experience.

By Miles V |

What you see is not what you get. We paid for the tour and the Biblical meal ($29 EXTRA per PERSON). Tour was OK, but guide kept looking at the watch and hurrying our group (with several elderly members) along.
Meal was beyond pathetic. A "4-course meal "consisted of

1 slice of radish OR 1 parsley leaf OR 1 of 2-inch piece of green onion (when my son asked for more onion, he was told NO by the guide)
2 of 4-inch flour tortillas
2 piece of bite size chicken thigh on a toothpick (guide generously called it a skewer)
1 hard boiled egg
6 grapes
1 teaspoon of raisins
3-leaf spinach salad (you read that right. 1 salad bowl for 16 people)
1/4 of a cup of lentil soup
1 tablespoon of applesauce
1 cup of grape juice
1 cup of water
Sorry, forgot, need to count the salt water, pepper and salt to get the 15 item meal they advertise on the website.

We had to go and find a restaurant to eat right afterwards.

The Bible Comes Alive

By Denise C |

This place is an experience! The Bible comes alive! Our docent was very knowledgeable and an excellent communicator. The Biblical meal is a must, as you can really have the full experience of a meal during the time of Jesus! It was money well spent!

Wonderful Easter Sunrise Service

By Greg G |

We drive 45 minutes every Easter to attend this sunrise service. I always learn something new every year. Dr James Fleming gives us a lecture on the true history from the Bible and this year was not lacking. We looked at Mary Magdalene and how she is viewed from a strictly biblical nature. He also pointed out the error in The Da Vinci Code's assumption that The Last Supper depicted Mary Magdalene in the painting. The Biblical History Center also announced that they have purchased an adjoining 7 acres! They are going to build a Sea of Galilea area in that space! Cannot wait for it!! My family really enjoy checking out the artifacts on hand as well as the reconstructions. Can't afford to travel to the Holy Land, this is the place you want to go!

An Interactive Museum of Daily Life in Biblical Times

By Woody M |

Our Sunday School class had a retreat which included the EIA Museum. We started at the Time Tunnel with our guide Dereck, then the Biblical Life Artifacts Gallery & the Biblical Meal with Hannaniah Pinto, who thoroughly explained the ancient type meal. Dr. Fleming, founder, gave a detailed tour of the various areas helping us experience the ancient biblical world, it's history and culture. This is a highly recommended museum including an archaeological dig for children. I will be bringing more friends to experience the Bible coming alive.

First Time Visitor

By Roger H |

The widowed ladies group from our home church came here a few months ago. We weren't aware of the Center until then. We came as part of an anniversary trip. A very well kept secret. I was more than amazed. Plan to come back to some of the planned tour/group events, lectures, etc. Dr. Fleming has an amazing life story. Vern was an excellent guide. Great staff. Very friendly. Looking forward to expansion and other visits.

Excellent. Well worth the time and money

By cbakerpc3 |

We took the full tour including the meal and it was more than worth the cost of admission and time spent. I actually wish I had more time to spend an we do plan on visiting again. So much food for thought and so many things made clearer by learning about the context and culture in which the Bible stories were written. Fun, educational and uplifting ... a total win.

So, so

By Tiger2004 |

This place is different from any other place in the area. It was nice to experience something new and unique. It gave a new perspective on Biblical stories. That being said, the place was rather small and in many places did not appear to be professionally done. I thought the price was high for the experience.

LOVED IT AMAZING

By siegnroyfan |

The Biblical History Center is really GREAT. When for the first time in May with my friends from AL. Went on December 16. I did you Christmas Follow the Shepherd Walks. It was GREAT. I learned a lot of things that I did not know. Carol was VERY NICE . She taught me a lot of things. It was raining and there were people that did not show up. I was lucky enough to have my own private tour with Carol. I also did the Biblical Meal.. That was really amazing.

I would 100% let people know that you need to do the Christmas Follow the Shepherd Walks. and the Biblical Meal.

I am looking forward for the Easter one.

Biblical History Center - Wonderful experience

By Pam M |

This was one of the best experiences my friend and I have ever had. The tour guide was beyond compare, our favorite part was the Jewish dinner that was served. She explained every part and it was so meaningful. I highly recommend the Biblical history center

A Nice Surprise

By Sheryl B |

At first the location (somewhat industrial) shows little promise, as does the lobby but once you are taken outside it is a different place. Very well done and our guide was great. I learned so much and was impressed with everything I saw. The meal was another nice surprise. More than enough food and they even had a gluten free option for me. My only complaint is that the room for the meal was very warm.

Must see

By grandon2014 |

We took our family to visit the Antiquities Center because my wife and I had enjoyed it so much last year and it was all we had told them and more. The tour, the meal with the Biblical details, and the artifacts museum were very educational and enlightening. If you have a small group, call ahead and get them to book you with a larger group for the entire guided tour. The guide makes all the difference, expecially with the meal and the artifacts museum.

50+ Trip

By gmables |

Our "TNT" group (Tried 'n True) thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We were not able 5o do the biblical meal, but will return to do so. Derek was wonderful in explaining the artifacts and history of our beliefs with his knowledge and sense of humor. He made everything so real like we were actually walking the same streets as our Savior!

Can't Wait To Go Back

By mom2boys2014 |

I went here with a school group. This place is fascinating and I can't wait to go back at Christmas or Easter and learn about those specific times. Our tour guide was very informative and made the bible come to life. His descriptions were so real, it was like being transported back in time. He also held the attention of a large group of middle schoolers. We only had about 3 hours here and I wish we had more. You could spend two days if you take advantage of the meal, a tour, movie, and maybe a class.

Recommend For People Who Like History, Religion, Excursion, Interactive Events

By Carpetalla |

First If the site parking is full the overflow is a mile down the road. either follow the bus or sign to overflow parking. Would recommend the meal (this is not a dinner its a sampler) WE loved the meal portion. Would recommend coming as soon as they open even if your meal is later as there are so many talks and thing to read. We went during Romain day and it was rainy. The area is covered for the most part but you should wear pant and an under shirt/long sleeves on these day as it can get cold. If you are doing the meal less than 4 ppl let the big group go in first this way you may get table to yourself and the people with kids can sit between kids to care for them. We made bread which was fun. If you like history and religion, take a note book to take note so you can do your own research and for families it make good study material.

Roman Army Day

By Atlanta Stones |

We went because of an annual event called Roman Army Days but discovered that this is a nice gem hidden away in LaGrange. I especially want to return on a regular day. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to a guided tour.

The place is in an industrial area and I wasn't very impressed pulling into the parking lot, but once I walked through the gift shop, I knew that this was worth the trip. The details of the displays were fantastic and the gallery had a large amount of artifacts. The staff is enthusiastic and very, very knowledgeable

Wonderful experience

By Jmgreen |

The experience e we had at this center was wonderful. We experienced the tour and meal. The staff was friendly and Christy was very knowledgeable. The meal was delicious! Would recommend for families with kids over 10.

Amazing replicas of ancient Israel - HIGHLY RECOMMEND

By satique |

I am really looking forward to going back again. We went as a group of 30 & had a Passover-like meal. Our guide was Morgan, who recently graduate from college with her history degree. She really knew her information & was a fantastic guide! Highly recommend requesting her.
After a the meal we toured the garden with Morgan as she explained the shepherds tents & sheep fold, catacombs, the tomb, the olive tree & press, the cross & crucifixion, a home & guest room by the city gates & the judge who sat at the gate. I'm looking forward to my next visit seeing there was not enough time to see other exhibits in the 4 hrs we were there. Every minute was taken up with learning so much about this wonderful place & its replication of places in Israel.
Very highly recommend visiting. It would be best to go when it's good weather because part of the garden area is in the open. Much of it is under cover but still outside. Highly recommend the meal if you are interested In seeing a setting where they had meals & learn customs that aren't conveyed in reading the Bible. She explained so much about the Last Supper & the pertinent customs. So important to know these details to better understand the culture & to understand scripture.
DEFINITELY WORTH EVERY MINUTE OF THIS WONDERFUL TIME OF LEARNING ABOUT A VERY IMPORTANT PLACE SO FAR AWAY.

WOW!! It was a spiritual walk through time!

By Leigh1992 |

Our Sunday School class (middle-age adults) and our kids spent the day here this past weekend! It was wonderful. We had the garden tour with the Passover meal and our host, Vern, was awesome!! It was a blessing just to hear him "bring it off the Book". If you enjoy history and want to learn more about our Savior (and we all should), you must make a trip to Lagrange!!

Great gem for all who seek a better understanding

By Llillie |

All four of us in our group walked away from this place feeling like we had a better understanding of the places referred to in the Bible and the day to day life of people whose names are so familiar to us. The first part of the tour was a very large map that showed the path of Jesus in Jerusalem. The second part was the outside exhibit that was eye opening. Where Jesus was likely laid in the tomb was not at all like I had imagined all these years. The last part for us was the meal and it too was informative. It was tasty and filling as well. Our guide was excellent and I would recommend this experience to everyone!

Most Interesting!

By Gerald G |

This place is very well done. Lots of archeology from the Holy Land. Great Jewish meal and many areas that are reproduced to Biblical times. A short course in history in one day

Field Trip for 6th Graders

By GAFamilyTraveler |

Our school took the 6th graders to visit the Biblical History Center and it was a good place for the students to explore and learn. The tour guide was informative and held everyone's attention. The Center is mostly outdoors so it wouldn't be a place for a rainy day visit, we had a little rain but managed to still enjoy. The students learned how to make butter and unleavened bread that they enjoyed tasting. The restrooms were kept clean and the eating area where students ate (our school packed a sack lunch) was large enough for our group (approximately 40). The souvenir shop had a selection of enough merchandise that my son managed to find something to bring home (limited variety of items). The Center was spacious enough where it didn't feel too crowded to move around.

Unfortunately very disappointed

By Spartan 7 |

No senior or veteran discount. Over booked group. Distracted guide. Over half of the tour skipped to keep meal time. Meal high point, but not worth the extra $$$. Ancient archives tour poorly presented to over crowded group. Unsupervised children added to frustration trying to hear and understand tour guide. Recommend scheduling a small group or do something else with your time and money.

Nice surprise

By Ray R |

We were looking for something to do with our out of town guests. We paid about $40 each which included an outdoor guided tour , Jewish sit down lunch and about 30 minutes in their museum. It was a quality facility with very knowledgable guides. I recommend touring with a guide vs. trying to do it on your own. The tour points very much toward Jesus and we all enjoyed the experience.

Biblical Education

By Gary N |

Our group of 30 thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was very educational on first century culture. The recreation of first century life was very informative, really helps one to appreciate both the Old and New Testaments.
The biblical meal was a delightful learning experience. The prayers prior to the meal were most meaningful.
Our guide, who turned out to be from our town in FL, was a wealth of information.

Second visit - well worth it

By mullins87 |

This was our second visit to the History Center. We did not make reservations and was able to join with a group from the Faith Temple Church in LaGrange, with which we made some new friends. Our tour guide this time was "JC". He is very knowledgable of the subject matter. It is very much worth a second visit, or maybe even a third or more visits, as each time you will learn something new.

A big, pleasant surprise!

By Mary D |

New York, Washington DC, but LaGrange, Georgia? Yes! Our guide, Hannaniah Pinto, took us on a memorable journey through the Holy Land without having to board a plane! The Center is a wonderful educational center as well as a fantastic reminder of my previous trip to Israel. A great traditional meal was enjoyed by all members of our group, as well as seeing how people lived in Bible "times." Hannaniah escorted us through a "private" area with real archaeological finds brought from Israel. A journey through this center will not be soon forgotten.

A Must See!

By rockytopgal |

This was the spot we planned out yearly "girls" outing to see..we were not disappointed!
More time with our tour guide is the only complaint! He was a wealth of knowledge..a chaplain for the armed services..brought the history to life! The meal was very good, but again would have like longer..which makes it obvious the overall experience was very good!

Amazing adventure in the last place you'd expect

By Weirhere |

A museum of life of the Jewish people 2000 years ago. An ancient city set up to show what life was really like. Docents and exhibits that bring ancient life to you in today's language. Biblical passover meal was not just good food, but a learning experience. I very highly recommend this museum.

By Bebe6011 |

A most unique experience. Visitors are transported to another time and another place. Interactive "digs" are provided for visitor groups.

Met Our High Expectations

By clissner |

Wow, what a nice visit to the Holy Land, at around $4,000 less per person. We were 2 couples; 3 Christians and a Jew (me)! All of us thought we were well-schooled in Biblical history, and yet we learned so much at this wonderful place. Our guide, J.C.(I wouldn't make it up, those are his real initials), was fantastic in every sense. He was so well-versed in his knowledge of the mid-east, the people who live there, and the Biblical aspects, that he made all come to life and become interesting and enjoyable for our group. We can highly recommend that you put this place at or near the top of your LaGrange experience. La chaim/ to your health!

Enjoyed the meal

By Shirley W |

Ad said small groups for guides, they put several of us with a bus of 35, we couldn't all fit in a space, so out in sun,in this hot weather, our guide was wonderful, but we skipped last hour, heat. No fans anywhere to make a breeze.

Inspiring and eye opening experience.

By Fisharefun2 |

Even after having read the Bible several times, this experience was a wonderful builder to my knowledge. Our docent, the gentleman was a well spring of knowledge and made many things that I was confused about very clear. The sadar lunch was a tasty experience.

Fascinating re-creation

By llbsax |

A bit overwhelming at times because there is so much to see. I would like to go back and spend a lot longer. Allow yourself a couple of hours. But beautifully done. I learned a lot.

Fantastic Day

By 1331cbi |

This entire day was wonderful! The museum, the tour and the meal were interesting and educational. Our tour guide, Morgan, was outstanding in all ways! She was very knowledgeable, had great interaction skills, and loved to have our group ask questions. The meal was very tasty, though different. To sum up the day: Go and experience this, it is well worth the cost and the drive!

Very authentic!

By travelbugs244 |

Fantastic trip when you book a tour. The best part was the Passover meal they served. Very authentic and the guide was very passionate about his job and the subject.

Excellent Biblical Experience

By Jane |

We paid for the tour and dinner. The information was brought to life as we saw ancient artifacts and walked through the site and saw how tents, wine presses, tombs, and alters looked over 2,000 years ago. Great educational experience!

Unique opportunity to experience life in a different time and place

By Elizabeth K |

Recently I accompanied a group on the Shepherd's Walk at the BHC. We learned about the geography of the area around Jerusalem and some history of life during the time of the Roman Empire. We made bread and had tea, we learned more about the everyday life of people who lived long ago. Our shepherd and guide, Hannaniah, was very knowledgeable and was able to relate a wealth of knowledge to everyone in the group, young and old. All of the staff were very friendly and our experience was very enjoyable from start to finish.

Week getaway to Georgia

By Kathy W |

We went here because of our visit to Israel a couple years ago and had heard about it through our tour guide Hannaniah. We enjoyed it greatly. We were there for the Passover meal. Unfortunately I can’t remember the guides name, but she was great.

Biblical History Center

By Denver R |

For any interested in Biblical history and archaeology this is a must! A visitor would not usually expect an exhibit of this quality concerning the history of the Bible in mid-west Ga. The exhibit houses authentic artifacts from ancient Israel and has constructed high quality replicas. Of buildings and sites. Our guide was well educated and knowledgeable. Her presentation was outstanding. This is an outing for every age and especially for families. A reasonable fee is charged for entry. I encourage you to ask for the dining experience as well. This is a great and meaningful way to spend 2-3 hours!

Recreating ancient buildings and everyday equipment from the holy land

By Steve M |

These archaeologists are making hands-on replicas of everyday stuff from ancient Bible times. Come, take a guided walking tour, and make some pictures to show in Bible class. Pick up some brochures and invite your church friends. It is non-denominational. There is a gift shop with books and souveniers.

Awesome!!! The meal is a must!!!

By Sherry S |

Went with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and especially the meal! Carol, our guide was very informative!!! Worth every penny!!!

A good reproduction of the Holy Land

By Silverbelle1019 |

Explorations in Antiquity has many of the same scenes that you might see when visiting Israel. Further, the Seder meal is so unusual that you will truly experience the culture of Israel.

Very educational, even for non-Christians

By Lisa S |

You can see from other reviewers that this interesting museum is good for people who know the Bible but would like to put all the history in context of how the people lived in the time. But for Jewish people, this is particularly fascinating and, although it is run by a Christian organization (they lead tours to Israel) the purpose is to educate in history, not religious practice. Most of the exhibits are reconstructed models of how first century Jews lived, or Israelites before the Roman period. Some knowledge of the Bible would help, but is not necessary. However, I can imagine kids who are not the curious kind may be bored after 15 minutes while parents are reading the explanatory signs, which were very interesting to me.
I particularly was interested in how the burials were done in those days in stone crypts, and not in the ground, and how the bodies were left to decay, and then the bones put into ossuaries. Also, the olive press, the stone Mill, the ancient altar, etc, were all reconstructed and explained thoroughly. The explanation that crucifixions were done on actual trees, not necessarily wooden crosses, made sense, and they showed how the tree may have had a pice of wood attached to it.
The gift shop was amusing to me as a Jewish person, because it looked like it could have been located in my synagogue! They were selling a lot of Jewish ritual artifacts that were lovely, but I couldn't figure out why non-Jewish people would buy say, a menorah or a mezuzah or a talit, but...whatever. Do Christians like to have Seders? I guess so, because they had a lot of Seder plates and Hagaddahs with Hebrew and everything. They told me they have Passover meals where they explain the rituals to people, which sounds educational, but I still think it is strange to buy a Seder plate and do a Passover Seder if you are not Jewish. But maybe this is a new trend!

I particularly appreciated the choice of books in the gift shop, many about Israel and one about the unfortunate history of anti-semitism and how it often occurred due to mistranslations of the gospels in different communities and how Christians in particular should strive to mend this situation.

I would definitely come back to see this place again as it grows in the future. I was told they intend to create a miniature reproduction of the city of Jerusalem and it would be great for people to be able to see it as it really was, and not just imagine what it may have been like.

An Education

By Harry A |

We recently went to the Christmas tour. It was very informative and you get a feel for places in the time period of Jesus birth.

If you like Biblical history, you have to visit!

By mullins87 |

If you are a Christian, like me, and are interested in Biblical history, then you must visit this place. The center has several "areas" constructed that allow you to experience what life was like in Biblical times. These "areas" include a typical tent made from camel hair, a fold and stable where livestock would have been held, typical tombs that have been discovered, live fig and olive trees, a city gate, etc.... Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We were even able to sit down and enjoy the type of meal that might have been served in those times. But for me, the artifacts on display is the best part. There are several authentic pieces that are on loan from the Israeli government. Including a bowl and three pitchers that have been dated to around 4,000 years old, quite possibly the time when Abraham and Sara were living! Well worth the visit.

The best way to learn biblical history is to experience it!

By Patrick H. |

We really enjoyed the day learning and experiencing the museum. Vernon was just wonderful - he is so knowledgeable and he is so engaging. He made the stories of the bible jump off the page!

We first went through the museum, which has so many artifacts from Israel, including artifacts from the period of the Judges! We learned so much that tied directly into stories from the bible.

Next we ate the meal, which was really good. Ronnie does an amazing job, and the lentil soup was excellent! All the while we learned so many things about the biblical stories of the Last Supper (and cleared up quite a bit confusion about how things REALLY happened).

Finally, we toured the outside exhibits, which include scenes from the city (city gate, typical city home, cistern, mill, and the presses for the olives, grapes). We saw farm life, with the threshing floor, vineyards, a presentation of crucifixion, graves, and the auditorium). Finally we saw nomadic desert scenes with the tents and sheepfolds).

It was such an enlightening day - definitely plan to return, there is just too much to taken in at one time!

Fascinating adventure

By toprn |

On a trip to Callaway Gardens we discovered a hidden gem in Lagrange with the Biblical historical center. Museum with artifacts, recreation of life in Jesus's time, expert tour guides all worked together for a memorable and moving adventure.

Excited About Next Visit!

By Renae A |

Traveling with a friend who received notification of this place on Facebook. We decided to give it a try with a tour including the meal. We were amazed! The tour was informative and memorable. The meal was very special as well. I had to model it at home for my grandchildren. Planning to return in a couple of weeks with my oldest granddaughter so that she can experience biblical history.

LOVE IT!!!

By AnnSchmitz |

I loved it so much that I had to figure out a way to "hang out" there. So I am a volunteer now and currently in training to be a tour guide.

Where the Bible comes off the page

By Scott E |

WOW! Too much good to say in a short review, but Vern was an excellent guide that definitely allowed my family to see the Bible come off the page. We could have stayed and learned all day, but 3 hours flew by fast. The place is not very large, but it packs a lot into their space, especially in the artifact gallery. I would gladly visit here again.

Makes the Bible come to life!

By Jana Kinnersley |

Totally worth every penny! I've been 5 times and each time is different. I learn something new and experience the Bible in a different way. All the tour guides (Docents) are extremely knowledge and engaging. The only problem is that I wish I could take notes! There is too much valuable information to absorb at one time. Perfect for children and adults alike.

Very Interesting and Informative

By Cynthia J |

This place was very interesting. It really helped to see actual artifacts from biblical times. Our guide was AMAZING!!! I wish I could remember his name. He was very informative and entertaining. He was a retired chaplain. I would definitely recommend!!!

Well worth the time to visit!

By PamAU2017 |

So glad to have had this experience. The guided tour was so informative and enlightening--really helped bring the Bible to life. It is obvious that much research and care has gone into this facility. So many ancient artifacts from Israel to see. And the meal (the food and the teaching that go along with it) was wonderful. Our tour guide was just awesome.

By Tiffany T |

I really loved this place. Our tour guide took us on an adventure set in the time of Jesus Christ. We ate something like a Passover meal, set up like the last supper. I had no idea that the paintings done by Leonardo Da Vinci and others were not even close to accurate. It was humbling to see this from another view. Dr. Fleming, good work!

What a jewel!

By Tanya W |

If you take the trip to Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain you are doing yourself a great disservice if you don’t take the 30-45 minute drive to this wonderful place. The Jewish culture and meal tour was more than what we expected. Christy was our guide and she was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. The Center is not very large so you must call ahead to make your reservation for the meal. The meal was fun, filling and all around a great experience.

Unexpected Treat!

By 273starr |

Went in not expecting too much. It was a delight! Enjoyed the displays/scenes that were set up. The guides were knowledgeable and interacted well with the tour folks. Loved viewing the artifacts.

Great experience

By Corinne P |

Our favorite part of our tour was the meal. It’s absolutely a must. Carol was excellent & very knowledgeable.

Excellent day trip

By 7Wanderlusters |

This museum is inexpensive and very interesting. A wonderful way to show the children how life was during biblical times. We will be back again once they open the new section also.

WONDERFUL TOUR & MEAL!

By Theresa Bryant |

Informative tour and wonderful meal.
Well worth the money.
Many artifacts from Israel.
After the meal, we were invited to go back through the gardens and museum if we desired to do so.

What a Treasure!

By Cheryl B |

My husband and I were amazed at how much we learned at this unique museum adventure, from the archaeological replicas to the Passover Meal -- it was all so informative and authentic. What a learning experience! I'm so glad we made it a part of our 1800 mile travel vacation and recommend it to everyone.

Fun as well as educational

By grandmaman |

This was their first visit. They each brought back a special portion of total experience. Meal is not to be missed.

A must visit.

This is a wonderful place to visit. Tours are excellent! This would be a great place to take different Church groups to. Staff is very friendly. They also have a small gift shop with interesting things in it.

Bringing Biblical Times to Life!

By Sally B |

My husband and I signed up for the 1.5 hours tour. It was a wonderful experience and our tour guide was so knowledgeable and brought the exhibits to life. I learned so many new things and the room of artifacts was amazing to see. I would highly recommend this tour. Lots to see without a lot of walking.

Fun and Educational

By Bibleteacher57 |

A world class Biblical Archaeology Museum with a caring staff and wonderful user friendly exhibits. You don't want to miss their special events like the Easter and Nativity celebrations and their Spring and Fall Conferences. And take the time to enjoy a Biblical meal with them...the food was wonderful.

Fun and Informative

By Susan M |

My mother and I visited the Biblical History Center with a travel group from my church. We both found the entire visit fascinating! Our tour guide, Oliver, was incredible - well-informed, humorous and just generally a wonderful experience himself. We participated in a Seder meal and the food was delicious and very varied. The accompanying information provided by Oliver was perfect to make us appreciate the different courses. I would recommend visiting the Biblical History Center to anyone.

Bible comes to life

By Sherri |

I found this gem of a place on Facebook and it's a hidden treasure that everyone should visit! The museum curator guided us. She was a wealth of knowledge and so passionate about Biblical history! I learned so much and I greatly enjoyed being able to experience life in Bible times.

Great place

By MariaD243 |

I took my husband and 7 year old daughter here and we all loved it. It was very educational to see how some of the things we read in the bible played out in those ages. I would recommend this place to anyone, and have suggested several family members to make an effort to go here.

A nice, quiet place to get closer to the God of the Bible.

By Heffner2007 |

We read about this place before we came to LaGrange and were intrigued. We have visited Israel and some places that try to create the mood of Israel Stateside that were woefully missing the mark. BUT The Biblical History Center definitely hit the mark. Even in Israel most of the artifacts in the museums are replicas, this place also had those but they also had 15 actual artifacts from ancient Israel. The village like atmosphere was quaint and makes you think you have traveled back in time to the time of Jesus. The information and staff are excellent an will definitely point you in direction of the Savior.

Worth the visit

By Yancey89 |

I have visited the Biblical History Center twice. The first time was with a large church group and the second was with family. Both times we went through the outdoor tour and took part in the Biblical meal. I recommend trying the meal - Great experience!

Disappointing Visit

By Paula K |

I organized a field trip to this place for a homeschool group after hearing many people rave about how wonderful it is, and, unfortunately, we had less than a stellar experience. First of all, I was told that if we had a certain number of people in our group that we would get a $2 discount per person. Even though we had the number of people, we did not receive the discount because two families paid separately and were not included on our group check, and five were part of another school under our group umbrella. However, our school brought them the business as a whole, and we all attended the four together as one group. Aditionally, our docent for the garden tour was Jewish and taught several things about the scriptures from that perspective. He also had to talk about the crucifixion of Christ during one point of the tour. While I respect his views, I believe it is inappropriate to put someone in a position of teaching Christian theology who doesn't adhere to that view. As it stands, I am going to have to address the poor theology with my students when we return to class next week. Our guide for the meal stated that they are historians rather than theologians, but given the nature of the museum, it's very hard to have one without the other.
I will say that the meal was very good and the docent for that part of the trip was excellent. The biblical home, threshing floor, and museum were also very fun to visit and full of interesting information.

Very informative. We took the Christmas tour which was about an hour and half long. The kids enjoyed being able to move around and explore how things would be during Jesus’ time after the tour.

Senior Adult trip

By mbmayes |

We visited the Biblical History Center on 6/13/18. Our guide was the wonderful Morgan. This was my second visit, the last being 7 years ago. This was a great visit! Morgan did an excellent job of bringing in historical facts and sharing great details with us. There were plenty of places to sit and listen. This is and easy trip for those unsteady on their feet or those needing some assistance getting around.
We have just returned from a trip to the Holy Land, and this visit reinforced and brought out more details. The meal we shared together was very filling and informative.
If you are in the area, I highly recommend you stop in and visit, but do take some bug spray in case the mosquitoes are out and feeding.
Make sure you leave time for the gift shop. 😃

Wonderful experience

By Leighton H |

There is a unique array of Biblical history coming alive before your eyes. Several displays of early Christian life and culture narrated by knowledgable guides that bring out the real meaning of Scripture. Will be going back and taking many people with us. Great experience.

Our guide was a very entertaining biblical historian!

By Patricia S |

Great Bible history lesson! Went with a large group and the guide made sure everyone had an opportunity to be comfortable while she made a very interesting presentation. Our story was about the facts behind the Christmas story! The meal was good with plenty of variety and a continued history lesson. I would recommend staying for the meal if you go!

An informative and inspiring trip to Holy Land

Captures the history and culture of ancient Israel. We'll constructed sites and fascinating displays of antiquity. We'll informed tours and a good meal offered. Good store for purchasing gifts.

AWESOME EXPERIENCE

By Safari825159 |

Outstanding & factual presentation that truly made the Bible come alive. Our guide/host was Carol & she did a remarkable job taking us through the last week of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ's life. Can't recommend or speak highly enough about our experience at the Biblical History Center.

Must see Inspiring and educational visit

By Louis G |

This place is a must see, It is a realistic full scale reproduction of daily life in Biblical times. The archaeological replicas are amazing. You feel that you are walking the streets of ancient Rome or Israel or Jerusalem. I suggest one log on to the web site for more information. It was truly amazing. The staff is SUPER knowledgeable and very friendly.

Going to Israel without leaving the USA!

By MaryD3377 |

This is an outstanding experience, we've been to Israel and this was a re-visit for us! Quite an amazing vacation - and its here in the USA and not anywhere near the cost of traveling to Israel. Besides the outdoor full size exhibits there is an area that is climatised were they have artifacts from Israel. We had a Biblical meal that was exceptional, very much the tradition. There are also things for young children - they have a children's digging area. The first time I went I just wanted to dig in it and they let me, I'm still a kid at heart and I love to dig. We just got back from our 3rd or maybe 4th time - it was a conference with Dr. Jim Fleming (the archeologist, who taught and studied in Israel many years) - entertaining with so much actual knowledge. All the staff and volunteers bring the Bible up off the page. LaGrange is easy in and out with good restaurants and great weather. Its like a small town with a lot to do. I think this is an experience you wouldn't want to miss. Jesus' Blessings and Peace

A Great Way to Spend a Day

The Biblical History Center is a great experience. Our group enjoyed the meal and the antiquities museum! Well worth the drive to LaGrange.

Unique experiences

By Debbie D |

I live near the Explorations in Antiquity and have been able to experience all of the currently offered activities. My favorite is the Biblical Meal where you get excellent modern versions of a Passover/Seder like meal. During the meal a docent explains the meal customs of Ancient Israel. Afterwards, the group is treated to a guided walk in the Scripture Garden.

Not what we anticipated

By redhand |

It may be due to the subtle difference in UK English language and USA English but we understood from the title of this museum that it was a history of the Bible rather than an Archaeological history. The latter was of less interest to us and perhaps has coloured this review. We also felt that the museum could have been more forthcoming in regard to admission charges. These are not displayed at the entrance and you only become aware of the actual charge, excessive in our opinion, when you purchase your ticket. The brochure we found quite confusing and not adequately explained by the young lady who escorted us to the interior entrance.

Took a group of 6

By john m |

Took my kids and my nieces and Nephews as a believer in Christ they love it had a private tour and there was a lot to see and everyone enjoyed it!

Awesome........just Awesome!!!

By Judy B |

I couldn’t believe LAGRANGE had such an awesome place with artifacts from the Holy Land right here in my home town. That’s right.....What does LaGrange GA, Paris, France and New York City have in common??? (I think that’s right.) They are the only 3 places in the world that Jerusalem has loaned artifacts so the world can enjoy a part of their culture!
The guides who lead the tours are so well educated about the people, the culture and the times. They place you a setting so authentic you feel you’ve come back from a visit to The Holy Land. They also have special programs to celebrate seasonal events!!! I can’t wait to go back! You leave feeling like you’ve taken a walk through the past.

Amazing

By Empress T |

Extremely authentic loved every moment. Informative on the Bible is connected how they lived. Even the kids like it.

Loved the Place...Thoughts About the "Meal"

By nofitpitchinkids |

I am a sucker for Biblical History. Visiting here made me feel like I just stepped into a time warp and into a real Biblical city. (or at least a Hollywood movie set!....I can just imagine scenes throughout the Bible being filmed here!) So much to take in and so much symbolism.

When you enter the building, it's a little awkward because you feel like you're in an old admin. office. They point you down a narrow hallway past some office doors and you wait in the gift shop for the tour to start. (not a normal museum entrance feel) Next, they sit you all down in a conference/meeting room to get introduced to your tour guide and then head outside. (surprised he wasn't wearing period clothing...just jeans and old t-shirt, but maybe costumes are only for special events?)

If you do visit, I would highly recommend having a tour guide (docent). There is just so much to learn that you will loose much of the "wonder" being there as you try to read pages of information. When the tour is over my family went back outside to "take it all in" one more time. It was quiet and each of my kids scattered over to the sections that were their favorites. (taking selfies with the skeletons in the tombs of course!) I just loved the shepherds tents!

Here's a tip: Make sure you are aware of all they have to offer BEFORE you go. As we were heading out, the lady at the desk said "Oh, did you see our artifact exhibit?" "What!! There's more!?" My 4 kids were already in the car ready to go. So, we sent them off to McDonalds and my hubby and I toured the artifact hall for another $6 a piece. Really enjoyed it! There are "bread making" activities, an artifact dig and some other stuff to do if you plan ahead. You'll need to join a group to do these things so call ahead!

Now onto "the meal". I just have to be honest, because, well, that is why you're reading this, right? So here it goes. I'm a "foodie". I love to try new foods and experience new cultures. So, I was most excited to try authentic middle eastern food. And the description in the brochure made it sound like this Biblical meal was going be a culinary experience. I hate to say anything bad about this place because I DEARLY LOVED IT, but this meal was lacking in a big way.

Here is what was on the table: (everything you can find in your fridge or pantry except for one thing) Green and black olives from a can, hummus, assorted nuts, grapes, lentil soup, tortillas, honey, raisins, hard boiled eggs & artichoke dip. They did have an apple, nut spread I had not eaten before. All pretty standard food. The "main course" was chicken on a skewer and salad. Someone asked what seasonsing was on the chicken and the guide let us know they didn't make them there but were "ordered in". (I'm thinking they were Costco frozen pre made chicken Yakitori?...that's what they tasted like to me.) Bread back then was such a huge part of life and it was a bummer to chomp on cold store bought tortillias. We eat those all the time at my house. Even if they served store bought pita bread and put them in a skillet to warm them, would have had more appeal. I just was sorely disappointed especially since we paid over $100 for this "meal" for the 6 of us. ( A little awkward eating in silence too. Would have been cool to have had period music playing or something similar to enhance the experience...)

The tour guide does a great job of explaining the last supper and customs of the time during the meal presentation but I just didn't feel it was worth the extra $20pp.

Again, I just loved, loved, loved the place and I can not wait to visit again!! (just can't endorse the meal at $20 pp)

Interesting Look at Jesus' Jerusalem

By Ellen D |

This was an attraction I have wanted to visit for a couple of years. It is very interesting and our guide did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this for church groups.
The displays are well designed to give you a feel as to what Jesus would have seen in Jerusalem. As you enter, you experience how the Bedoins lived and your lecture begins under a goat hair tent. As you continue your tour, you are transported back in time to the last days of Jesus life on earth. One section depicts the Garden where Jesus prayed, another where Jesus was questioned, one area represents Calvary and there are several tombs.
In addtion to looking at the last days of Jesus, there are other things of interest: a wine press, an olive press, olive trees and fig trees, a replica of a house, a Roman theater, a rock quarry and a sheep fold.
Overall, Explorations in Antiquities gives you a good feel for old Jerusalem. In addition to the tour there are special programs throughout the year and a Biblical meal offered several times a week.
The dirt paths would be difficult for someone who has difficulty walking to manuever. Anyone with limited walking ability would miss some of the displays as there are steps involved. This is not a wheelchair friendly attraction.

Do the dinner and tour!

By 111timfl |

We had a great visit. Tour was informative. Displays were nicely presented. Outside was very informative and tour guide was great!! Dinner was the highlight. Narrative during dinner was great!! Would definitely recommend. Tour and dinner just a little pricey .... but worth it in the end!

Interesting View of Biblical Living

By Susiq106 |

I found this to be very interesting. It is a museum of daily life in Biblical times. I was fortunate enough to get in on a tour with a special group and it was very informative. Until you've seen it, it is hard to describe exactly what it is. It is a walk into the past of 2000-3000 years ago with full scale archaeological replicas, such as a Roman aqueduct, Jerusalem tomb from 700-500 B.C. and lots of others as well as ongoing construction.

Great visit

Went with a group from church. Excellent experience. Personnel easy to work with (I arranged.) Very knowledgeable docent.

Biblical tour

By David G |

What hidden Gem! I’ve wanted to visit the Biblical History Center since moving here to LaGrange. Let me tell you it is very very interesting and informative, our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable. I recommend this to everyone to “Live the Bible” here in LaGrange GA!

By Robert M. H |

This is the third time I have been to the Antiquity center. Each time is a learning experience for adults and children. I would suggest including the meal if possible with your visit to gain a broader perspective of life during those times. All around informative and enjoyable.

A walk back in time

By flyingby |

Spent the entire morning exploring this unusual place...it is a small replica of a biblical era village ......it was very interesting and could be done either with a guide or on your own. We were on our own, but could here the guide giving a walking presentation......we preferred going on our own, taking our time. It certainly opens your eyes to how they lived and worked , even how they buried the dead...there are actual skeletons......

Interesting place

By Christy C |

This was a nice stop while we were traveling. It took us about an hour and a half to go through. The outdoor exhibit area was more interesting and enjoyable for kids/teens than the indoor was. The people who run it are very nice and informative.

A taste of Israel in Georgia

By Bart C |

We have been to Israel and seen many archaeological sites. This was a great taste of it for children (and adults!). Many actual artifacts on loan from Israel. Worth a day trip certainly!

Interesting exhibits

By DIANNE J |

Went there right before Christmas while they were packing up to close for a few weeks. Some things were not open but we did get to share in a first century meal which was worth the trip. Could use a little refurbishing and updating but otherwise an interesting day.

Wonderful trip back in time!

By PJAT |

Our docent ,Vern, was very informative and explained details about biblical history that we had no idea about. There were so many hidden jewels and shocking facts that really get you thinking about the Bible. It was a wonderful family trip and we hope to do it again soon!

Understanding the times better

By Daniel M |

We went with our Life Group and enjoyed it so much that we returned 10 days later when my sister visited from Michigan. The tour includes examples of what life was like in Christ,s times and included many connections and explanations with/from the Bible. It also includes a museum with artifacts thousands of years old. Not to miss is the optional meal explaining customs of that time.

A journey into the biblical history of Israel

By Carley M |

Our family visit included seniors, parents, and 8 and 6 year old siblings and each of us found the tour informative and fun. It is an interactive, hands on experience that transports you in time. We visited Christmas Eve and it was an extraordinary evening for us Christians and my Jewish son-in-law. The center offers many educational programs and camps throughout the year and is an archaeological wonder with very rare artifacts. I have visited many times and always learn something new.

Messengers of Christ at the Biblical History Center

By Lore A |

I took my ministry on a field trip to the center. We found out about it online. We absolutely loved it. My ministry was all Spanish speaking group and the guide was very patient with the group while I translated for them. The meal was a good experience although we were really looking forward to having lamb instead of chicken.

Great experience

By ttutemp |

Really neat place. Definitely get the meal package for the full experience! Great details about the last week of Jesus' life on this earth, with visual/physical context of the places and things involved.

Good preperation

By Ladypugh |

If you are planning on going to Israel this is a must prior to doing so! You will get new insights into scripture that will change the way you have pictured it in the past. They have the most Israel artifacts in the US. Jim Fleming, the originator spent many years leading excavations in Jerusalem.

Make sure you do the Biblical Meal and do not plan for lunch afterwards as you will be full

Wonderful experience!

By Kalos L |

We just returned from our field trip to the Explorations in Antiquity (Biblical History Museum), and we were extremely pleased with the knowledge, friendliness, and cleanliness of this museum. We had a partly guided tour, and learned a tremendous amount about the culture, traditions, and practices of the people in Jesus' time. The staff was excellent, and truly had a passion for explaining the exhibits and welcoming visitors. We would recommend this to families, church groups, or just anyone who would like to see what life was like in Israel in Bible times. The tour really brought the Bible to life!

The Bible came alive

By Nilha P |

We really enjoyed our visit to the Biblical History Center. Our guide was super informative and entertaining. The exhibits and our guide gave us cultural information of Jesus's time that filled in gaps, making the Christmas story more plausible and meaningful. The meal was delicious and added even more info to our understanding of Biblical times. We plan to come back in the spring for the Easter tour.
It was pretty hardy to believe this type of exhibit would be located in tiny Lagrange, Georgia. They do a really good job bringing the Bible alive.
Tips: Wear comfy shoes and dress accordingly to the weather as the majority of the tour is outside. It was all covered, but it was chilly in late December and we needed a jacket. The tour doesn't require much much walking as the entire facility is pretty compact. However, some of the ground is uneven. One of the tour participants was elderly and required assistance from her family to navigate in a few places. They provide some places to sit at various stops. However, this was mainly rocks and boulders that were very cold. You might bring a small blanket to place on the rocks before sitting. During the pandemic, for the most part, it is easy to keep 6 feet apart . However, there is one spot where you view the artifacts from Israel. It is in a climate and light controlled environment that is pretty tight. Bring a mask or skip this part if you are worried. However, the artifacts are very interesting and it would be a shame to miss them.

Interesting Day Trip

By Renee |

This place is interesting. It's a visual for things we read about but have not seen the real thing.
The artifacts were amazing and very tastefully displayed. They also told us they are planning the next phase which will sit on seven acres. It's a nice day trip and can't wait for the new exhibits to open.
Since we didn't eat the Seder meal, we went to a wonderful country buffet around the corner from the Antiquity Center called Sherry's. I recommend that place also.

Very interesting & thought-provoking!

By Vicki R |

We visited on 2 consecutive days in a group of 12. Day 1 was an excellent lecture, followed by a Passover meal as celebrated during the time of the Gospels, complete with delicious food and explanations about the symbolism of the foods. After the meal, we had a guided tour of the museum outdoors set up to replicate life and culture during Bible times. It was really well done and brought new visual understanding to the pages of the Bible. Day 2 included a lecture time about the geography of Israel and surrounding countries and a journey through 3000 years of Houses of Worship, together with a visit with commentary to the Biblical Life Artifacts Gallery on permanent loan from the Israel Antiquities Authority. Again, extremely interesting to actually see things mentioned in the Bible. The facilities were very visitor friendly, complete with a gift shop of interest to all ages.

Absolutely a must do!

By Bettye M |

We found this treasure online and so thankful we did! We did the tour and Biblical meal, absolutely wonderful. It was a totally enjoyable experience, we were delighted with our guide, Carol. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to have a unique and wonderful experience learning more about life in Biblical times. The meal was delicious 😋 as well!

Exceeded our Expectations

By James B |

We took a group of Senior Citizens. We were not sure what to expect and I can honestly say that the experience exceeded even our best expectations. We actually should have scheduled more time, because there is so much to see and experience. Several in our group said that we should go back again. I really can't think of anything negative to say. The people are warm and friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. our guide was amazing. I would highly recommend the Biblical History Center.

Fascinating- Worth a visit.

By Bill H |

We visited the museum yesterday. Wonderful presentation of life in biblical times, and amazing artifacts from Israel. We stayed for Lunch- with a great explanation of diet and cultural mealtime. Make sure to plan for being outside. We were not ready for standing in the cold- or depending on the season- being in the Georgia heat.. billooltewah

Everyone should visit this remarkable, historical and Biblical Museum!

By Bland C |

This is about the 5th visit for the various groups with which I travel, and I have learned something new every time. It does not matter your age, young, old, teenager, couples, or students if you want to know the true walk of Christ's life this is the place to come in the United States. The museum is a remarkable collection of artifacts. The gift shop has a wonderful selection of gifts for all. The guides are very knowledgeable, interesting and hold the interest of all in attendance.

Outstanding

By William L |

It was amazing the things I learned about living in the time of Christ. Living quarters , how hard they worked and every aspect of life is depicted in their displays. Wonderful for all ages.

By Kay E |

I really could go daily for a week and learn or see something new. Great for the adults, great for the kids!

Wonderful experience!

By PamDowns |

Six of us went to the Biblical History Center. We had called and made reservations for a guided tour with the Biblical meal. We first toured the Archaeological Replica Garden. It was so educational and realistic! We all learned so much. The scenes from the lives of people during Bible times are life-size structures decorated to portray the culture of the time. Then we toured the gallery of Israeli antiquities and learned all about those. Finally, we had the meal of Biblical foods and it was all just delicious. Our guide continued with us during the meal and explained all about the foods we ate. I cannot recommend this highly enough!

Excellent

By Linda R |

Must See. Very informative, learned some things hadn"t heard at holy land experience in Fla or at the creation museum

Best museum in U.S. depicting era when Jesus Christ lived on earth.

By Donna W |

The biblical meal we throughly enjoyed, was presented in a realistic setting. Also, a must see are the artifacts on loan from Israel. Having visited Israel with the Biblical History Center, this experience is a very close second!

Middle East in Biblical Times

By RetiredCPA2003 |

While the entire experience, including tour, museum, show and music were wonderful, my favorite was the middle eastern meal of Biblical times. Our guide, Lamar, was outstanding. During the meal, each food dish was explained. At first, I thought, "I am going to leave here hungry." Quite the contrary, the food was plentiful and delicious and the explanations by Lamar were equally delightful. We did not have eating utensils, but that was not a problem after Lamar taught us to eat by scooping with the bread. We drank our soup from the bowl. I ate foods that I have never eaten before and would not have even considered ordering in a restaurant. Many fruits, nuts, honey, vegetable dishes, roasted chicken, ice water and grape juice...more was available than we could possibly eat and it seemed to be healthy food as well. (Wine is available on request.)

Biblical Meal a MUST!

By mmoakas |

Our church group so enjoyed our time at the Biblical History Center. At first we were underwhelmed by the "gift shop" and wondered if that feeling would continue. It did not! Once we met with our guide Vern, the day was jam-packed with Biblical information and insights that came to life through the artifacts and displays. Vern was not only full of information that tied in to the Bible, but made the time most enjoyable with his fun personality. What really set the tone for the outdoor tour, however, was the incredible Biblical Meal with all the explanations. The Biblical Meal is a must - if at all possible! One note: the guided tour of the artifacts was a bit rushed with several members of our group having a hard time hearing and seeing the items being discussed. Since the space in the room is limited, you might need to re-visit the artifact area on your own after the guided events.

Interesting place

By Carol M |

Went with the kids (teenagers) during their fall break. They were a little "weirded out" by the people working there, but once we got in and did the self-guided tour, all was well. It is really a lovely place to visit, altho perhaps a bit pricey. Probably would be more enjoyable for a Sunday School class outing or similar group.

What a great tour!

By SydaLeaSchnebly |

This was our second experience at the Biblical History Center - and it was just as educational and enjoyable as the first time. Our guide, Donna, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. This is a first-class operation, and I think it falls in the "must visit" category. Many thanks for a great team. (Lunch there was delish!)

Excellent Day Trip

By Marilyn H |

A group of 30 from our church spent the day at the Biblical History Center. What a wonderful preparation for the Easter Season. Our tour guide has spent many years living and studying in Israel and leads tours to the Holy Land. Over 250 artifacts from Israel in this Center which is more than the Louvre has from Israel. We experienced a Biblical meal similar to the Last Supper. I learned so much new information about the Bible and will definitely go back.

My teenage niece loved it!

By kekesaunt |

Very good experience for both Christians and non-religious. Great historical learning experience with authentic artifacts combined with wonderful presentation of geography, history, and both biblical and Israeli history. It was interesting, not boring at all. My 14 year old niece wants to go back and bring her boyfriend! The presenter and tour guide held our attention, no doubt about that. It was fun and quite enlightening - will definitely return and bring others.

Biblical History Center

By Elaine M |

This was very interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable and kept your attention. I would go again.

Best Learning Trip Ever!

By Michelle H |

Our guide Vernon was amazing! He is so knowledgeable and I wish we had more time to spend with him because he taught us so much. He truly made the scriptures come off the page. (Even our teens enjoyed and learned something!). We did this as a church group and this is our second trip. The first time, the new part of the exhibit with the artifacts was not complete, so we made this second trip. It was definitely worth it! If you go, be sure to do a tour that includes the Passover meal. It is worth the extra money to experience a cultural and biblical tradition. We will definitely go again!

GROUP TOUR! GREAT TOUR!

By Phillip N |

Enjoyed tour and Biblical meal! Very informative! Must be careful as you move through the tour if not sure-footed. Biblical meal is GREAT and delicious - good information shared as you share a meal together. If you want your group to have wine with the meal be sure BHC knows this before your visit. WONDERFUL experience!

Living Bible history

By Gardens2 |

This center was very clean and was a great visual. There are guided tours but maybe just for groups. We went but no guides were available because so many groups were also there. There is a self guided tour but it was not easy to match the scene with the descriptions. I would suggest calling in advance to see about a guided tour. I would like to do their Bible meal but that also needs reservations. The price seemed a little steep ($20/person) when we had to guide ourselves. No senior or military discount. We did enjoy it though.
