The Big Dam Bridge (BDB) with adjoining Arkansas River Trail is a gem of a hiking/biking/looking at the river edifice. For out of towners, the NLR side of the trail is the more scenic and as you get close to and in downtown, safer side of the trial. There are plans to complete the trail on the LR side so you don't have to be on city streets but that is a work in progress. A great bike trek is to start at the Clinton Pres Center, go across the Junction bridge, go to & across the BDB, out to the 2 Rivers bridge, then all the way out to Pinnacle Mtn and back. That's about a 40 mi journey and most of it very scenic right in LR/NLR. The BDB tends to get very crowded especially on w/e's and alot of folks just don't know/practice "trail etiquette". Thanks to Buddy Villines and the LR city govt for pressing through with this wonderful multi-use bridge!

Great area to walk or bike. Wish I lived close, I'd want to be here frequently. It's a part of the Arkansas trail, so you can walk as far as you want.

Loved watching the barge go between the two parts of the river. And, great exercise walk without being strenuous.

Did the BDB race. Would love to come back and just bike and take time enjoy the views. Great bridge for walkers and bikers.

Fun place to bike or walk across the bridge. Lots of bike roads and lanes so made biking easy. The view is very pleasant. There were lots of other bikers and walkers around so had a very family friendly atmosphere. Very clear mile markers
Very safe good parking options and has access to restroom near the parking lot
It made for a fun day.
Be sure to pack your drinks as no vending machines

It is a neat experience. We got to see a barge go thru. It takes a little time but worth it. The first part of the bridge is a slight incline. It takes a little effort. Other than that it is a nice stroll and a little breezy.

Or did it do me? What a great experience. I signed up for the 50 miler and my legs said 34.3 miles was enough and went on strike.
Now I am training now for next year so I will finish.
Really nice group, beautiful scenery and great experience.
Hope to see you there next year and start trading now.

Nice place for a picnic, jog, or hike. Some what scenic. We watched a tug boat and barges go through the locks.

Beautiful nice walk where you sense both the silence and the sport activity - people walking, cycling and running. Wonderful to watch the river below you.

Went to a concert in little rock and decided to stop and check out the bridge. It was a nice walk. There were a lot of walkers, runners, bicyclists. Very pretty when u get to the middle of the bridge. You can get really good pictures.

The bridge is impressive with a wide view of the river and surrounding areas. The incline is gradual so it should be accessible to most visitors

This is a beautiful bridge with a nice view of the river and Littel Rock. There were lots of people walking, jogging and riding bicycles. We just took a short walk to the top of the bridge. If you're riding a bike, there is a 17 mile trail that includes the bridge and other spots downtown.

This is part of a river trail that includes crossing the Arkansas River. You can do a short or long hike, at your option. There is plenty of parking available along the way, and river traffic is fun to watch. A good family outing, or an opportunity to take your bike on a longer trip. No fees.

A must see when visiting little rock. Great exercise and views of the Arkansas river and Pinnacle mountain. Just the fact that it's the longest of its kind in the world makes it worth visiting. Great view of lock and dam and how it works to get boats through.

Cycle the bridge justt before sunset for amazing views up and down the Arkansas River. Take you camera for some once in a lifetime shots!

So this was an interesting little stop. It’s a pretty cool view and has a funny name. If you’re just looking for a spot to take a walk or take a picture with the sign, then I would recommend it. But we could have done without it on our trip. We stopped because we didn’t see anything else in the area to do.

My family and I frequently utilize the Big Dam Bridge for walking and biking. The construction of the bridge made a significant improvement to the already plentiful bike paths and trails in central AR.

The Big Dam Bridge is a walking bridge across the Arkansas River in Little Rock. The River is in flood stage as of June 1, 2019 expected to crest June 5, 2019. Areas leading to the BDB are flooded and blocked off, and the bridge is not currently accessible. There have been no warnings that the bridge itself is structurally threatened, but the river is higher and faster than experienced in about a century, and all precautions are being taken to protect life and property. If you are visiting Little Rock the summer of 2019, please check before trying to go near the bridge. The bridge is expected to reopen as soon as it is deemed safe for visitors.

A fascinating complex that controls water flow along the Arkansas River and helps sustain a wetlands for various flora and fauna. Of course there are a lot of jokes about the name, but in all you can walk along the site on a nice day and see a lot.

We love riding bikes and walking the bridge. A great family place with lots of room. The view is just beautiful and it’s nice being right on the river. Great location!

Want a leisurely walk over the Arkansas River ~ this is a great experience. If you walk across and back that is 2 miles. A fair amount of bicycles ~
One of Arkansas’ treasures you don’t want to miss

One of my favorite places in Little Rock, The Big Dam Bridge is the longest pedestrian only bridge in the United States.
It is lit up at night and a treat to see if you are nearby at dark. We ride our bicycles over the bridge multiple times weekly, headed to one of our local breweries for a beverage or a local restaurant for brunch. It is connected to our 18 mile River Trail System. Great viewing of the Arkandas River.

Weather permitting, it is a beautiful area! Great places to play with the kids, walk in the sun, or the shade. Stroll thru the wooded paths or along the river across the rolling waters under the bridge. Wear good, comfy shoes. I can be a long trek or a short one!

When I first moved to Little Rock and found out about the Big Dam Bridge, I shook my head and laughed at the name like everyone else. Once I visited it, I fell in love with it like everyone else as well. The view is great from any spot on the bridge. The park at the bottom of either side is very quaint, with joggers passing by with their leashed dogs, bikers whizzing by on their paths, rollerskaters skating up and over the bridge. It's a great spot for hiking, picnics, relaxing on a bench, taking a stroll, etc. Good for familys, dates, get-togethers, etc.

Great place for a casual stroll, run or bike. There is always a lot of activity here and great place for evening pictures.

If you enjoy biking you will envoy the BDB and connecting bike trails, unfortunately I am not from the area but can the the potential enjoyment of the bridge and trail. The BDB is a nice early morning walk before the heat of the day. There are many courteous runners, bikers and walkers and the view of the river and surrounding area is very nice. Enjoy!!

Whether you bicycle here along the River Trail or drive to get here, walking across the Big Dam Bridge over the Arkansas River offers spectacular views up and down the river. The bridge was built for bicycles and pedestrian, wide and easy to stop and enjoy the scenery. I spent over an hour watching a string of barges move through the locks. The string was too long for all to fit at once, watching the deckhands unhook, maneuver the barges in and out while unhooked from the tugboat was fascinating.

We stopped there on our way home. It's a super nice place to enjoy the Arkansas river and the around mountains. If you have e more time you also can bring your bikes to explore further. We just walked on the bridge watched the river running under the bridge. I can sit there quite long if the kids didn't need use restroom. I sure I took many pictures.

There is nothing better on a nice day then to park at the base of the Big Dam Bridge. If on the Little Rock side, walk over the bridge and down the river until you can loop around.

I spent a long weekend in Little Rock on a cycling trip. Big Dam Bridge was definitely on my to do list and I'm glad I did! The BDM connects to the trail system around the Arkansas River. The view of the Arkansas River is breathtaking and the approach on either side has a pretty good incline so you'll get a bit of a workout. Plus if you're lucky you'll see a ship go through the lock and dam.

We have loved the improvements that have been made to the riverfront. We love to cycle and enjoy the bike trails.

Excellent venue for an afternoon walk. Great views, easy climb and friendly walkers.
Observation of the Arkansas River at elevation is striking. The valley views are there for the taking as well as the adjacent mountains.

It is an interesting pedestrian bridge - but it goes - nowhere! Seriously. Nothing to see on either side.

Went with granddaughters and how they loved saying the Big Dam Bridge. A great place to get some exercise. Lots of walkers, runners and bikers. Very pretty. A nice little walk and enjoyed being outside.

It's a wonderful place to go on a sunny afternoon. The river and local landscape makes for a picturesque setting.

The bridge is about .7 miles long, well lit for taking a stroll in the evening. If you are on a bike the bridge is a good starting place to peddling the loop, about 20 miles to downtown and back on the NLR side of the river. Stop for lunch in the river market.

Big dam bridge was a great place to meet with friends and get some exercise while walking our dogs. There were restrooms, poop disposal stations, water fountains, and doggie water fountains in one area of the trail. Nice views of river, woods, and meadows. We also saw some deer, as well as a couple of rabbits. We walked for about 4.5 miles. Bikers do use these trails, as well.

This is a beautiful spot with a great view. Walkers, joggers, bike riders. There is something for everyone here. It's a great place to spend several hours.

We had read that the views here were nice at sunset, so stopped by the evening of our first day in Little Rock. We first drove past the electrical plant to a small parking lot on the water. There were a lot of people fishing nearby, and we walked a little bit along the beach to look up at the dam. Then we drove back to the end of the dam where there is another free parking lot, and the pathway to walk up and over the bridge. We walked up to the high point of the bridge, where there are some signs indicating sights and other information and the bridge and wildlife. It was probably about half a mile up and then back - there is also a bike lane if you want to do it that way. We spent about 45 minutes enjoying the evening and took some fun photos of the bridge, the water, and the areas surrounding the river.

A little cool today but nice area to walk. Can walk on bridge (which I think is less than 2 miles) or trail. Parking free. Shelters throughout the park. Restroom located near parking lot.

This is a great place to get away and enjoy a walk along the river. You can drive right to the bridge and begin your walk. Lots of informative signs detailing the different fish as well as how the hydroelectric dam works. Next time, I go, I want to walk it at night.

I stopped here on the advice of the other reviews and I was not disappointed. Enjoyed the view, and the trail.

It is so beautiful and truly a unique experience to be able to walk over the long pedestrian bridge. It is a nice place to enjoy the outdoors

Went here after dinner one night with kids and dogs and caught the sunset which was spectacular. Great view of the river and the water surging through the dam. Well worth seeing. Also biked the whole trail earlier in the week.

This bridge is great for leisure walking or running and also great for and biking. If you want to walk your dog on this bridge, as I did, it allows for it. The views are nice as I visited towards sunset. There are several different trails off of the bridge that you can walk or bike. A selfie station is also provided at this location. This is a family friendly area with parks nearby. The bridge is accessible for those with special needs.

Excellent venue for cycling. An up ramp to get cardio moving then terrific view over the river ending with a speed cycle down to the other bank. An outdoor excursion exercise communal urban treasure.

The Big Dam Bridge is a nice place to take the kids for a walk or bicycle trip. Or you can go it alone with your spouse or friend. I have never seen a barge go through, but maybe one day I will. Nice views of the river and lots of friendly people.

This is quite an interesting bridge. It was very windy when we were there in March, 2019 so we walked instead of riding our bikes. One of the very few bridges built especially for pedestrian use. The Arkansas is rather wide here and the view is really nice. It is worth a stop even if you don't walk the bridge, the info at the parking lot is very interesting.

A short trip but with the drive. The name is always fun for the kids. It takes about 15 minutes from city center and has nice views along the way.

This is a great place to go running! It is a very nice and safe area! The bridge is great to run across!

The bridge is an easy walk across and back. The view is amazing! There are several other trails and parks around the bridge.

Great place to walk, bike, run. Beautiful scenery of the Arkansas River. Looking west you can see the mountains, very quite area.

This is a nice area and bridge for exercising or to visit as an area attraction. The view of the sunset is beautiful from this bridge. A lot of people in the area exercise on this bridge like running, riding bikes, and walking.

We stopped by at sunset when we got into Little Rock. It is breathtaking to stand on the bridge and take in the views. There are also many informational signs about damn. We were here for about a half an hour.

I walk the bridge for exercise and it's all great unless a pet owner does not pick up dog poo. It's pretty clear the city comes through regularly, but sometimes the dog comes after the crew has been by. Instead of walking head high greeting others I have to watch my step. Pleas don't think I'm sad when I walk with my head down ... I'm trying to avoid cleaning my sneakers before getting back in my car... It's amazing to watch the river and see how fast it runs. Worth the time to visit... Watch where you step...

My kids LOVE coming here to ride their scooters. We try to go there every weekend if it's not raining or too hot/cold. It's a very nice workout!

I often go to the Big Dam Bridge to walk and enjoy a nice view. It's great for what it is...a bridge over a dam designed for people to walk, run, and bike across. Yes, there are great views of Pinnacle Mountain and the Arkansas River. It's a fantastic place to go exercise or take a walk with someone you care about because it's well lit and safe, even late at night. However, it's not a tourist destination because there's nothing to do there unless you are exercising or fishing.
As a side note, you can catch some wonderful sunsets from the bridge.

I love when places provide bags for dog contributions and frequent places to dump them. Everyone I saw had a smile on their face. Lovely.

The name is all the hype. The bridge was a long walkway with lots of power walkers when we went. Not much of an attraction to someone from out of town, other than my youngest still laughing over the name.

Good place to walk, run, ride bikes, etc. The bridge gets you from the Little Rock (Murray Park) to the North Little Rock (Burns Park) side easily.

The view was incredible water was rough and cool you have the Murray L&D park a mile away and 2 Rivers Bridge Park 1.5 miles away. good exercise

Great day trip to walk or run your bike. It can be crowded but it is not difficult - it is flat terrain.

There are some cracking picnic/BBQ areas leading up to the dam. Very impressive to look at, even you don't decide to walk over what is the worlds biggest footbridge.

An engineering feat making an ordinary dam into a fantastic scenic and healthy attraction. The Big Dam Bridge built atop of the Murray Lock and Dam spanning the Arkansas River makes for an excellence vantage point to see the river, boats and surrounding landscape by foot or by bike. Its very neat to watch large barges and boats of all kinds enter the lock and be elevated up or lowered down the river. Additionally, the bridge connects to a well-maintained bike and walking trail on both sides of the river and making a 14 mile loop. Stops along the trail include the Clinton Library, the River Market, Burns park, Dickey-Stephens Baseball Park, and so much more.

We walked across the bridge, and the views of the water and the locks are very pretty. It's an easy place to take kids, and the bridge lights up at night.

As part of the River trail system this bridge goes over the Murray Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River. It has several info signs and an excellent view of the area. Feel the burn as you ascend the bridge.

We had fun I like to visit at night when it cools down. There is a very grate view you can see the city. I hope you have you walking shoes on because it sure is a long walk to the other side. I was busy enjoying it i didn't notice it didn't take no time to get to the other side. I love it

There is a trail that takes off from the North Little Rock side of the bridge that goes about 7 miles to downtown that is perfect for runners, walkers, and casual bikers. Mostly shaded, no cars for most of it, and enough people to feel safe. Walk across the bridge for great views and to reach the trails on the Little Rock side of the river. Did I mention free???

We loved it! The trails were nice! The weather was perfect! Perfect for cyclists!!! We road around for about an hour taking in the beautiful scenery and fresh air! We'll definitely be back! We heard there's a big ride here!

Wonderful pedestrian bridge connecting Little Rock to North Little Rock with views of Pinnacle Mountain.

The big dam bridge was a sight to see. You are able to see the channel locks and working of the dam. Nice walking trail at the bridge.

Great place to take a stroll or workout. Only have 4 stars due to the frequent dog poo on the bridge from lazy pet owners.

Families, cyclists, walkers, runners, dogs, cats, you name it can be found moving on this concrete and asphalt path. Car free!

This bridge offers beautiful views of the Arkansas River looking back on the city and looking up the river toward the north bridges. During the fall, the views are especially beautiful with all of the trees turning radiant colors.

Went here bright and early for a morning walk.. it was definitely worth it! The scenery was pretty and it was nice to see/talk with others walking or riding bikes. Would recommend taking your bikes if you have them. There was also a park that looked great for kids!

Great to view during a 15 mile bike loop from center of city. Some exertion required. Pretty views of the river and dam

Late night visit. Went at 10-11p. Nothing really that exciting. Nice walk. Windy on top of dam and a bit cooler.

The Big Dam Bridge connects Little Rock and North Little Rock trail system. It is the longest pedetrian and bicycle bridge in the world built for that purpose. The trails are paved and follow the Arkansas river for 17 mile round trip. Additional trail miles connect to it.

Great fun for a walk with family or friends. Fun to watch the locks open for ships. The river is lovely

Great views of the Arkansas river, impressive engineering structure and a lot of things to learn about. Very interesting. On top of that is a great walk or bike ride with beautiful views and great excersice

This is a great time for cyclists. It is connected to many trails that you can cycle on and you can make it a loop as well.

My wife and I have hiked this bridge several times. It is especially stunning at sunset. It is connected to the Arkansas River Trail system so you can walk/run/bike all the way to the Clinton Library in the east and Pinnacle mountain in the west.

Whether walking the dogs or biking for fun, make the BDB part of your route! Not only are you on the longest and biggest pedestrian bridge in the US, but you get a great view up and down the Arkansas River. And when the river is up, the view is even more spectacular as the waves tumble from beneath the dam.

My favorite way to "do" the Big Dam Bridge is on my bicycle, but you can also walk/hike. There is a fairly extensive trail system associated with the Big Dam Bridge, so you can now bike (or walk) as far as you like. And it makes a loop, so you can end up back where you parked your car without a lot of back-tracking now :) My favorite time to be at the top of the bridge is at sunrise or sunset. Beautiful!

An interesting story accompanies the bridge. Take a walk across the whole bridge and enjoy seeing Little Rock from a different vantage point.

If you're into running, cycling or skating, this area offers many challenges. In addition to an engineering marvel, the area offers a surprising abundance of wild life and reflective tranquility.

The Big Dam Bridge is only open to pedestrians/cyclists and is built over the dam on the Arkansas River. You can start in either LR or NLR and walk across to the other side. It's fun to stand in the middle of the bridge and watch the flow of the river and any river traffic. The bridge is lit in the evening which is a pretty sight. Two Rivers Park is within walking distance from the bridge. The bathroom facilities are limited.

The Big Dam Bridge is set in a lovely spot over the Arkansas River. It's pedestrian and bicycle, so it's a good place for a stroll or a ride. There are information markers about the local wildlife at the top of the bridge, which affords a nice view in both directions. It would be a good spot to visit on a nice day in Little Rock.

One of the longest pedestrian/bicycle bridges in the country. Scenic views (if you can look past busy I-430) over the Arkansas River. Great place to watch barges go through the locks. Watch out for speeding bicycles!

This is a good stop if visiting Little Rock or if you enjoy going for a walk or jog. There is parking, restrooms and connections to paved trails. You can also watch the operation of the lock.

The view was absolutely beautiful. We walked the bridge twice. There are places to sit if you need it. Just watch out for bikers (don't get hit!) and watch out for dog poo because some people don't clean up after their dogs. You couldn't beat the view. It's definitely worth it!

Cloudy day, perfect views from the trail. Perhaps because of the corona panic this was a popular spot today which was great to see. People were jovial on the trail and lots of dogs on leashes with their humans out enjoying the day.

Unfortunately it started raining on our drive over to this dam so we could not get out to walk across the bridge.

Provides a nice view and enjoyable walk to get from one side to the other. You can go for miles in either direction on either side if your out for a long run or ride. I would out for people going way too fast on bikes, and probably wouldn't take anyone afraid of heights to the top considering the height and that it moves slightly in stiff winds.

This is probably more interesting to an engineer? Or maybe someone looking for a hike or bike route? It was just OK for me as a tourist attraction - a little over-rated. We walked about halfway across and back just to say we did.

This was a fun place to come and take a walk. We made a trip before it got too dark and walked around the area. This is a beautiful spot with some history and the locks were neat. You have to stay until it gets dark so you can see all the lights on the bridge.

Yes, it is a bridge that takes you from one side of the river to the other!!! Nothing great, elevator takes forever!!!

Near downtown Little Rock (aprox 2.5 miles), the Big Dam Bridge is a must see for people who enjoy the outdoors. Because it is elevated over a dam there is almost always a bridge and is pleasant even in summer. If you are riding a bike it is forms the western river crossing of the river trail (paved, great for biking and running) and allows access to both sides of the river allowing a 15 mile circle from the Clinton Library to the bridge and back. Great views of the river, LR bluffs, and Pinnacle Mountain

Great place to ride a bike or take a walk. Take your water because there is no shade and in warm weather you will get hot.

Good way to stretch the legs after a long trip. Kids of course counldn't say dam enough (and giggled each time). Nice view of the river.

It bridges a dam and its big! A great spot for walking, biking, tiny wedding. Great view of river, great way to get from NLR to LR. Watch out for dog poo that pet owners don't pick up.

My friend and I decided a late night walk on the dam would be fun. We got there and there are absolutely no lights on the trail headed up to the dam, and we had no weapons for safety, so we stayed in our car and just admired the bridge from afar for a big before leaving. We were going to walk the dark trail with our phone lights, until Ed heard people fighting ahead of us. I got dangerous vibes and I'm sad there was no lighting on the trail that gets to the dam. Other than that the view is terrific. Don't do this at night unless you are with friends or know how to defend yourself.

Love biking. Visit this bridge across the Arkansas river. One of the best trails for cycling in America.

We love riding our bikes and walking on the trails. The amount of people visiting is growing, and it is getting somewhat dangerous for walkers. The bike riders will run you over quickly. We do love the views and love going here though!!!!

very scenic location to go for a stroll or use the whole river trail as a spot to exercise. especially enjoyable at nite with it lit up

Walkintg along the paths and up the bridge are an exhilarating and peaceful experience. You can see for miles at the top and the sound of the water from the top cannot be beat. My favorite spot there is close to an old boat ramp where there is a parthway that leads to nowhere.

We stopped in to this park on our way through to let our children stretch their legs and get some fresh air. All 6 of us (two grandparents, my wife and I, our boys - 2 and 6) enjoyed the park and the walk over the bridge. The view is neat and the park was clean and well cared for. We ended up making lunch and eating under the shelter.
I would recommend it for those who are local and want a great place to explore or exercise and I would also recommend for visitors who need a diversion from travel or other obligations in town.

My favorite place to get my cardio and we are the only city to have this . You can start from the Little Rock or North side and when you get to the other side there are multiple trails along the river to further your experience. When the dam is churning to let the barges through it sounds strong waves at a beach . Very family friendly and also a great walk for your for dog . ( they have bags available and most people comply..) Little Rock is proud of this and keeps it up perfectly

Whether you are running, walking or biking, this is good exercise. Across the Arkansas River and over a working lock and dam. At night it is lit up with several colors of light. Part of an extensive bike trail through Little Rock and North Little Rock.

The Big Dam Bridge is a must do while in Little Rock. It is literally over one of the Lock and Dams on the Arkansas River. The views to the west are breathtaking, beautiful Pinnacle Mountain, and the river valley. The walk across is for people of all ages to enjoy. Overall it’s just a nice beautiful easy and fun thing to do.

Beautiful at sunset, can be cold because of wind off water, be on your toes watching for walkers, dogs and bicycles, but all n all a very nice fun walk

A beautiful walk with tons of pelicans to gawk at. Just make sure to wear a hat because there's only shade at the top!

I love the Big Dam Bridge! It's fun to walk, you can see for miles I can't remember how long it is but it's a bit long and great excersize. It is over the Arkansas River and has a nice park to picnic. This is a must see for all ages.

You may be in the city but there's nothing cooler than seeing such a large spread of green space that allows you and your family to walk bicycle rollerblade whatever your desire is to enjoy outside environment with scenic views of the river while having all the modern amenities literally just blocks away.
Little Rock has clearly focused on showing that you can have an urban area with open green space for enjoyment for anyone.

We visited here on a very sunny day, we were lucky enough to see a barge transit the locks, there were lots of couples and people riding bicycles, several families just taking in the awesome views, it seemed safe, rhere are cameras, and a very picturesque place to take some great pictures and view the river from a different perspective, I recommend a day trip here, it is fun and free.

Great place to visit, go for a few hours to see the views and get some exercise. Nice bike paths to.

You must see the dam bridge if you visit the area. Great views and awesome place for pictures. Good educational visit for young kids.

What a beautiful place to walk across the Arkansas River, it's a large pedestrian bridge! Some wooded areas, bikers welcome. Dogs must be leashed and picked up after. Bathroom facilities are available.

This dam was one of the highlights of our visits to Little Rock. Definitely a great place to go on a walk, enjoy nature & see the sunset.

Its just a bridge is what some people will say. But its actually whater experience tou make of it. A major deciding factor that by far will single handeledly dictate your level of enjoyment is time! The time of year and the time of day you go will make or break his place for you. The wind always blows off the river. This is a great releif in the hotter AR months. But isnt as welcoming in the colder months. Also the time of day will have a profound definition on the type of ppl who will be there. Depending on your interests you may want to go and jog with the early crowd. Or be like me and enjoy the fact that while people are jogging, they rarely will stop to strike up a conversation about nothing. Evenings are busier and there are a more diverse group of people walking slowly and stopping to talk to one another about nothing. My opinion is go early morning provides the setting for ppl who enjoy the small things in life. Its perfect time to take a date for a cool spot with very few ppl around to interrupt things as you watch the sunrise and enjoy one another. You CANT go wrong!! Hint...guys take your girl a hoody or windbreaker. She will apprciate the thought and earn yourself major browny points. Have fun

I think that The Big Dam bridge is one of the things that make the city of Little Rock great. I am not biased since I am a transplant here. But the time effort and expense that obviously went into creating this bridge and maintaining the facilities (including restrooms) is incredible.
Next to the restrooms on the Little Rock side they even have a bicycle repair station. It has a tire pump and several tools to use if you need to do some repairs on your bicycle.
If you are afraid of heights (like me) it can be a little intimidating. But the railing is very high and secure.
BTW, they have security cameras in the parking area on the LR side. Not sure about the North Little Rock side.
There are always a lot of families on the bridge which is so refreshing to see in our times.
If you like this bridge there is another on the other side of I-30 called the 2 Rivers bridge. It is much shorter and not as high. But equally as enjoyable and leads to a park with picnic tables overlooking the Arkansas river.
If you are a Little Rock resident and you haven't been to these the next pretty sunny day you MUST go there.

The bridge on its own is a marvel, almost a mile long. We go here often to walk with our hound, there are so many trails all around the bridge. On a hot day the bridge always has a breeze, it is a good place to spend an hour or so.

What an amazing visit. We were blessed to get to see the locking dam in action! It was a very windy cool day but it was worth it. Interesting bridge/dam to visit.

I guess I didn't read the reviews, just picked it because it was a top thing to do. Not a very good view from your car.

The bridge makes a nice easy walk. It's about a mile from the parking lot on the LR side over the bridge to the NLR side; and a pleasant walk if you continue another mile + to Burns Park. Views from the bridge are lovely.

Good for romance. Good for rides, walks, and runs. Long walk across if you're not in shape. Beautiful place. One of those places you should be.

As a father and a grandfather; the Big Dam Bridge has been a place that my children and grandchildren can walk and talk. We see beautiful landscape along the way. This is in a city park and cost you nothing. Well worth the time spent getting to know your children.

Great exercise and great view! Recommend it to everyone! There are walking trails and if you love to fish, fishing is allowed under the bridge. Challenge yourself to walk from one side of the bride to the other! Amazing!

It's a bridge. Over fairly still water. With an industrial electric plant attached to it. Not very unusual or attractive. Just normal. Very steep to get over on each side, and since it's a pedestrian bridge, that matters. Connects the bike trail from Little Rock to North Little Rock.

Nice place to visit. Park area clean and excellent for walking. Bridge is a very interesting site and a great stretch of the legs.

Super long bridge! Also winds around with additional trails for cyclists runners and walkers. We were there at dusk so just walked.

This is a super cool place to mark the middle of your Arkansas River trail ride. Be ready to grind it out up the bridge, but the view across the river is awesome.

Riverfront Park provides amazing running around and across the Arkansas River. There are two bridges dedicated to runners/bikes and another bridge with a separate section for runners/bikes. The park has miles of trails, a myriad of different sculptures and several historic postings. I loved this location and anticipate I will return here many times over the years.

An interesting and enjoyable place to stop on the way through Little Rock. We drove out to the parking lot on the Northeast side for a close up. Very cool...the water on the lower side of the dam is churning and scary, and one can almost hear a rumbling sound. Don't fall in! Drove back to the regular parking lot and walked up over the bridge. Several hundred yards if you go all the way over to the other side. Nice views from the middle with benches to sit on. Overall a very nice place for a walk. Glad we checked it out.

If you’re in the area, take the time to go see this. I would not go there just to see the bridge. The name intrigued me, so I decided to go see it. It is big!

Worth the time if you are in Little Rock.. we saw a barge go through the lock and dam, it was so cool!

This is a great place to walk, see the Arkansas river and downtown Little Rock from a different view. You don't have to worry about falling in, as it is fenced in on all sides. You can even ride your bike on across it. 🤗

Science, nature and engineering masterpiece. We spend hours there. Connections to nature hiking trails are a wonderland of deer and crinoid rings.

Great view and so enjoyable. If you want to get a couple miles+ this is a great way to do it without the boredom. Make new friends while you’re there.

Been coming to this bridge since it opened. What I think is the longest elevated bike path over a dam/river in the US this is a great place to walk halfway over and sit and watch the river roil under you they the locks below. On high water it's fascinating to see the water rip they the locks. You may even see one of the locks in operation on the south side too. Great spot to walk the dog which we have done for years. Great site for Little Rock!!

Little Rock has lots of outdoor areas for walking, running, biking, etc. There is a trail on both sides of the river. This dam is one of several places to can cross the river to access the trail on the other side of the river. It is an excellent place to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise. I will for sure return when I'm in Little Rock again.

I stopped here while I was in Little Rock for the evening and wsa glad I did. It's easy to access and has great views of the city. It's also neat to learn the history of the bridge and of the city, and it's close to the River Market area.

Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon walking at the bridge. Bit windy near the shores but well worth the drive for the view of the river from mid bridge.

The view from the pedestrian bridge was amazing. Thanks to the folks who commented that the bridge isn't for vehicles. However it is handicap accessable.

Easy to find and a great way to get a quick break from hotels and meeting rooms. The one mile walking bridge crosses the Arkansas River. Also, there is a nice connecting trail on the North Litttle Rock side if one mile isn't enoigh.

It is on a very large park. There are lots of people walking jogging & biking. It is a dam with a lock & a bridge over it all. This made for an interesting walk.

This is a great big bridge and with the lock and dam shows the power of the Arkansas river. Your trip to the top of the bridge can be shorter or longer depending on where you park.

We stopped by the Big Dam bridge for a walk after eating a bit to much at one of our fine Little Rock Restaurants. We started on the North Little Rock side. We used the bathroom facilities on the Little Rock side and were surprised by how nice and clean they were at 8PM in the evening. There were several people out walking. We will be doing this more often.

Ever wanted to walk over one of those big dams while a barge was moving through the locks? Need to stretch your legs and see beautiful Pinnacle Mountian to the west at sundown? Stand on the upriver side of the dam and listen to the silence which when stepping ten steps the other way is the rushing sound of millions of gallons of water pouring through the dams? Want to go from Little Rock to North Little Rock via bike or jogging trail? If any of these things appeal to you. The Big Dam Bridge is somewhere you should see.

Can't beat the scenery around this area. The park is so large and gives access to many types of walking/running/biking trails.

This is a huge bride that winds through a part of Little Rock. There's some nice views that you can experience as you travel along the bridge.

you feel at peace with the world watching the boats go through the lock and dam. The view of the river is beautiful.

We have been there a few times while on holiday, it looked particularly impressive at night with the lighting and also with the sun setting behind Pinnacle.

I don't see how anyone could give this place a bad review. The bridge alone that takes you all the way across the Arkansas River is worth the trip there. This Southwestern resident loves to visit water-rich Arkansas! And you may be there to watch a barge pass through the locks - fascinating! And there are miles of walking/biking trails that take you one way to downtown Little Rock, or the other way all the way to Pinnacle Mountain State Park. Be sure to walk to the old bridge after you cross the river (Cook's Landing Park). There are tremendous photo opportunities - just beautiful!! Don't miss this when you go to Little Rock.

This was a really nice side trip. Great views of the dam and river. My husband wasn’t happy about having to walk back across to get to our car so we called an Uber and got a ride!

Walked the river trail along the river, fished awhile with kds, had a nice picnic lunch on one of the many beautiful spots, that are along the bike, walking trails. Pretty trees, plants and animals roaming around. Then we walked over the big damn bridge, quite exhilarating to stand at the top and look down over the edge. Just a wonderful day! Would recommend this activity for anyone, mild to moderate exercise involved. But you can go at your own pace. Recommended for spring time.

100' above the BIG Arkansas River and the lock and dam, usually a nice breeze, lots of runners and bikers normally so pretty safe during sunlit hours - neat place to visit. Plus with the Maumelle River bridge section open you can have a very nice run or bike ride.

This was a great stop since we had been in the car all day. It was a great walk across the bridge. The halfway point was informative with the plaques and binoculars.

I get a little nervous, but I love walking this bridge with dogs or kids. It's definitely a workout! Just try not to get caught in a storm haha!

Fantastic views of the Arkansas River and a good chance to see lots of wildlife from a Birdseye perspective. This site is called one of the Top 10 Bridge Travel sites; however, I'm not really sure what that means! It's a cool spot regardless. Worth seeing if you're in the area!

Said to be the longest bridge in the US intended for bicycle and pedestrian use, the Big Dam Bridge is worth a visit. You'll enjoy beautiful views from the center of the bridge and may even be able to see boats go through the locks if your timing is good.

An integral part of fabulous River trail for cycling, an extensive grid unusually evolved for a mid sized sized city a la Little Rock. The incline of BDB can be trying going north to south if at the end of an exhausting ride - but enervating.

We were done at Lake Catherine early and didn't want to go to the hotel at 1:00 so found this to hike. It was hot by afternoon but it was something to see this long bridge and hike it. There are trails all around.

It was a dark and stormy--no, it was a cold and rainy day, but our daughter had taken the day off of work and we were going to get out and walk with her and her dog. The Big Dam Bridge is a wonderful creation for those who like to walk, run or bike, and is part of the Arkansas River Trail system, I believe, so given nicer weather we could have taken a really long walk. Nevertheless, we parked near the entrance tot eh bridge and walked across and back. Not really long enough, for much exercise, but it WAS rainy and cold. Again-on a nice day you can't do better than to go for along walk up the river, across the Big Dam Bridge, and go a ways on the other side-or maybe a whole loop. I salute the people of Little Rock for developing the Big Dam Bridge,

It is a very long bridge and would be fun to cross if one had plenty of time and the weather was good. Unfortunately we didn't have either. It was so hot and we had other things that we had planned. It would have been nice if there was a better maintained park at the entrance. As it was I don't think going out of one's way would be recommended just to look at it.

This is a great place to walk after dinner especially at sunset while the bridge is lit with colored lights. Very pretty sight as you walk across the bridge and view the river and surrounding city. There are places to sit along the river and the park is very nice.

Quite impressed to see the investment Little Rock has made in health and well-being. If only cities back home in the Northeast would take note! (we cannot even get bike lanes in PA).
This is a well-maintained and excellent walkway, and the views are worth the trip!

I jogged the bridge and through the park at the base on the south side. The restrooms and water fountains were adequate and the area was alive with walkers, joggers and bikers as people were getting off work in the late afternoon.

Made a stop here to walk the bridge and the walking path. Very nice walk and a great path for running or biking too.

Nice walk across the Arkansas River. Bathrooms available in the parking lot and also at the park that is a mile away. Interesting - wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if in the area for a day or two, it's a good thing to do.

Great place to take a walk or ride a bike. Great views overlooking river. Beautiful neighborhood around it.

Makes for some great views during the day and at night if you want to go for a walk, run or bike. also at the bottom makes for some good cat fishing when the river isn't to high.

Great place to walk, run, bike over bridge. Maumelle, NLR exit good place to park, although Lock Doors and Do Not leave personal items in view due to several break-ins. Over bridge you can continue trail towards Little Rock or 2 miles to other bridge. Relaxing place to fish, dog walk or picnic with family. Bathrooms, 3 picnic tables and drinking fountain. Bike trail to Clinton Center and you can loop to other side of trail and back around to your car. Bike trail has mile markers and quite a few shaded places along scenic route.

Amazing sunsets from the top of the bridge! Great place to gain some exercise as well or follow the trails into the woods!

Love this bridge and walking/bike trails. Very clean with incredable views. Great place to exercise!

Great for walking, this park/bridge is a great place to walk see people, see the Arkansas River and get some exercise all at once.

My children love the Big Dam Bridge! It wears them out an me too! Its very family friendly pet friendly too!

Great workout! Good family to do! Would make a great all day hike/bike event for the whole family or sightseeing

This is a great walk over the Arkansas river. It is beautiful and connects to other trails on either side of the river.

This place is definitely worth visiting. It reminds me of something antique and beautiful. Drop by it's worth it

Favorite spot to take a nice long walk. Many trails split off on both sides of bridge so can decide on length of workout. Lots of cyclists like these paths too so keep your eyes open and listen for "On your left.

I love this bridge. I take all of our out of towers there. Such a beautiful view of our city from the bridge.

Another pleasant hike. Seems to connect several trails and crosses from Little Rock to North Little Rock. Nice parks on both sides of the bridge. The adults and kids enjoyed the hike. Again, mosquito spray a must if you are hiking during the warmer months.

Great hotel Poor food. Tried the hamburger and it smelled rancid. Exchanged it for pimento cheese.
Tried breakfast with homemade sausage. Perhaps an acquired taste but neither I nor my wife enjoyed it.

My husband and I went for a run here recently. We drove to the nearby parking lot and ran across the bridge and back. Very windy, but nice scenery. We went during the day on a Friday and found parking, but I would guess parking may be harder to come by on a weekend.

A little bit of a drive but fun to walk across. Lots of people fishing nearby. Good little day picnic or night walk.

We enjoyed pleasant weather and nice views from this bridge. The dam was interesting. Nice place to stretch our legs and get some exercise on our road trip. Free parking and photo opportunities.

I love the Arkansas River. It's beautiful! This bridge is really cool. Crazy to think how long it is. Perfect for running, biking, and walking. Great views of the Arkansas River.

This is a walking bridge! Great park area for walking/biking. Beautifully lit at night with colorful light show.

Good place to walk and site see when friends and family come in town I always take them there they love it especially at night summertime the bugs will get you and you will sweat so don't go out there dress up lol

This pedestrian bridge connects north little rock and little rock proper as part of the river trail. It is a great scenic location, with best weather in the fall/spring. Summers are quite warm. If a novice cyclist, be aware it is quite steep.

Visiting from England. Great wildlife spotting, don't get many pelicans on the river Thames! Lovely views but the bridge though big isn't the prettiest. Still, it was worth a visit.

First, don't ask for directions at the Clinton library to the "Big Dam Bridge" they won't give you the correct directions. Second, pull directions up on your phone or navigation system. Once you get there this is a great walk along the dam and path. It's neat to be walking about the dam, a pleasant trip.

A nice picture and walking spot. Our kids enjoyed walking up on the bridge. If I lived here, I would definitely utilize this a lot.

This certainly was one big dam bridge. It was an extremely windy day when we went, but it was a nice walk - and the weather was pleasant. You can walk directly over the big damn and look down, which was pretty cool.

Crosses the Arkansas River. Just above locks. Can see for miles. Bikes, pedestrians, dogs. Lots of places to pick up poo bags and plenty of trash barrels. Totally paved. Park below with areas to rent for groups. Volleyball, picnic areas.... they do it up well here.

Great for someone looking for a change of scenery to run or walk. I think there were more interesting bridges throughout Little Rock than this particular one, but if nothing else to do and but visit local landmark, then this would be good.

Great view but no pet poop enforcement here. Offers walking or cycling trail. If you visit watch your step !!!!

A nice attraction while you walk or ride your bicycle as part of the Arkansas River Trail. It has a gentle climb, but you are rewarded with a beautiful view of Little Rock and the Arkansas River. There are observation areas on the bridge and stationary binoculars for checking out the Arkansas mountains farther away. It’s a must-do when visiting Little Rock.

I'm so happy that we stopped to see the Big Dam Bridge. It allowed us to see how truly beautiful Little Rock is. So green and clean! If you want to walk on the bridge, be prepared for a long hike up a gradual slope. FYI- The bridge itself is also very long to cross.

The Big dam bridge is a long bridge that really is big if you plan to cross it by foot. I remember walking the golden gate up and down when I got to the its mid point, unfortunately I couldn't complete this one because it started pouring and one thing most wouldn't think of is what to do if it starts raining mid way on this bridge, well all you can do is enjoy the rain and hope your smartphone is waterproof as there is seriously nowhere to hide below :)
Not having a shelter is not a complain but more of a warning because other than that the bridge is stunning, with good spacing and nicely designed to look through the river and the two sides of it. Definitely worth visiting if in Little Rock, might be a stretch to visit Little rock just to see the bridge unless you are an Architecture enthusiast or a runner/biker on bridges.

We went across the bridge and continued onto the Two Rivers Bridge. We did a little over 3 miles round trip.

Bring your camera for amazing pic's or put those walking shoes on and go also bring water and sunglasses

Love this bridge! It is very pretty and has lookout viewers. We visited while in Little Rock for a quick getaway. We felt very safe there and there was a ton of people walking, jogging and riding bikes.

This is beautiful bridge to walk or ride a bike, get a great view of the Arkansas River and to watch river traffic go through the lock system. It is connected to miles of paved trails that you can walk, ride or run on.

At night the bridge is lit up with lights. Dogs are welcome and it’s a nice walk.
If going at night take a friend to be safe.
The views from the bridge were amazing. You could see the mountains and the city.

Cool bridge to hike or ride a bike across. The longest pedestrian bridge in the United States. It is over a dam and has beautiful views of the Arkansas river.

Big Dam Bridge is one of our favorite weekend destinations to walk our dogs. on hot days, there's a cool breeze off the scenic Arkansas River. We share the walkway with kids, bicyclists, skateboarders (the dogs don't like skateboards, though), and lots of other dog walkers. We start on the Little Rock side of the bridge, cross to the North Little Rock side (watching fishermen below us on the little beach under the bridge), and wander through the wooded paths that thread across the area. lots of parking available, and blissful outdoorsy fresh air within minutes of little rock's busy neighborhoods.

Very good place to take a walk... best time to go when the sun is about to go down... you would love it 🥰

Went with the kids 7 & 8 to walk across the bridge. It was a nice walk with a parking lot and bathroom. It would be a much better bike ride as the bike path goes over it. Very nice to visit. There were boat locks there as well but no boats were travelling through for us to watch.

I was not too impressed with this bridge. I really thought the name of it was the best. May have enjoyed it better if it wasn't so hot outside.

You can see up and down the river a good ways. The bridges in little all light up at night, but unfortunately, in the summer, the spiders also come out at night. The Big Damn bridge is a nice walk. I prefer the two rivers bridge.

Lately I have gotten into walking for fitness and I usually go around the streets of my neighborhood. Well this last Thursday I was in the mood for somewhere different so I drove over to the Big Dam Bridge about 15 miles away that spans the Arkansas River and connects Little Rock with North Little Rock, AR.
The bridge was built over Murray Lock and Dam and is for walking and biking enthusiasts and is well maintained with plenty of lighting for night walks and also has several security cameras installed along the bridge for safety reasons. A one way trip across will usually net you just under a mile walked but on the Little Rock side the pathway forks to where you can either head east towards downtown Little Rock or exit to the west side towards another park called Two Rivers Park,.
Going to either exit and then getting onto the ground level pathway back to the other exiting end of the path and then going back across the river to your starting side will net you just over two miles walked for your round trip. The place has plenty of free parking on both sides of the river and usually has many people around taking advantage of the facilities, the weather and the great views from atop the bridge.
There is no cost to use the walkway and they also have two telescopes mounted on poles, one facing each direction, at the peak of the bridge that are free to use for anyone wanting to take a few minutes to look at distant scenery.

Built in the late 1800’s as a lift bridge across the river, it was turned into a pedestrian friendly venue to see the city scape. The light show is impressive from both the park next to and walking across. Very romantic and relaxing. Be sure to check out the collection of padlocks along the rails, that run the length of the bridge!

This is an amazing place to visit. The views are spectacular. Everyone I met was super polite. I drank a lot of water, so I had to use the restroom after. That was disgusting. I was almost afraid to stand in front of the toilet. That is my only complaint. Would I visit again? Absolutely!

I live close to the bridge and love it for my walks after work! It has nice inclines on both sides so I get a little bit better work out. The views are awesome and sometimes I get to watch the barges entering the damn which is really neat. There are always friendly folks walking and cycling over the bridge.

If you want a good view of the Natural State this is a wonderful Landmark to visit. Kids get the chance to run across the bridge which spans the entire Arkansas River and gasp at what they see onions wildlife and important landmarks. It is Steven places and you should be fit to go but I think anybody can do it with the right amount of motivation. One of Arkansas's great landmarks that shouldn't be missed on a visit to Little Rock.

Probably among the best tax payer financed projects in Little Rock’s history, the Big Damn Bridge is a must do if you are a resident..... it is the longest pedestrian bridge walkway in the world!! Bikers, walkers and joggers all can share the fun here!! A great afternoon walk especially when the river flow is up. Amazing to see the force of water below you as you walk above it. What a great afternoon event. Walk, jog or bike - you can’t go wrong here!! LOVE IT!!

We were on a road trip and looking to hit the highlights. This bridge was fun to walk and we got to see how the locks worked while a barge was going through. Great scenery and a beautiful way to end the day.

We watched a tugboat and barge go through the lock and dam. The foot bridge above the massive dam provides a great vantage point for the river and surrounding bluffs. Good for biking and walking.

Bring your walking shoes and a bottle of water, and get ready for some excercise! Great views of the riverbank and wildlife. Watch the barges up and down the river.

Very pretty at night. Was lit all purple a nice romantic night stroll. The walk is on an incline so effort is needed and not recommended for elderly without a wheel chair possibly.

Visiting my cousin in Little Rock, AR....she took me around to all the sights.....We both like to "walk" and walking the entire Big Dam Bridge, the breathtaking view and construction is awesome, to say the least! Beautiful surroundings, and quite interesting the designing of the Bridge. Highly suggest a visit!

Great for walking, biking, running. All paved walkways. Connects to downtown Little Rock and other parks.

Took grandkids for a Saturday afternoon walk on the bridge for the first time in August. Unfortunately for us my grandsons were exposed to a lady that was riding a bicycle that yelled obscenities at them since they were on the bridge and she was riding her bike. The kids moved out of her way quickly but that did not suffice. Otherwise the walk was pleasant over the Arkansas River. The bridge was clean and the light breeze was cool.

Great place to go run, walk or ride a bike. I saw some with their dogs. Please ALWAYS clean up after your dogs so they can keep going places! 🐶🐩🐕 The place is beautiful with the purple lights on the bridge at night. It's fun to watch the tug boats & barges. And it's a great places to go "think", journal or read.

Friend and I went to Little Rock to specifically walk the Big Dam Bridge. It was a great Saturday afternoon experience. It was a leisurely walk and a great view of the river. Bikers and joggers were very courteous in sharing the bridge with the casual walkers. Plenty of places to stop and rest or just enjoy the view of the river, including barges and tugboats.

I love riding my bike at this location because of the flat scenic view. Gorgeous trip! People walk, ride bikes, skate and jog this trail. If you are into fitness and nature, it's a must visit!

Just a few miles from the downtown area it's a great spot to watch barges go through the locks. The bridge across has several stopping points with benches and signage explaining the dams and areas history. Free Parking at the base of the trail accross. No steps just a long gradual ramp. Great Arkansas River views.

Too bad we waited to visit 10 years after this opened but are happy we did. This is a great spot for walkers, runners, bicyclists, skaters--whatever your navigation preference. You can walk all the way across or just part of the way. There are places to picnic and just sit as well. Also, before and past the bridge provides more of these opportunities as well. Thanks to some great planning, Little Rock has added a special place for visitors and residents alike.

This is a nice hike across the river at any time of year. We've hiked it many times and will go back again.

Took our son that lives in Pittsburgh, PA--where they have plenty of bridges--to see the largest pedestrian/bicycling bridge. Weather worked out and we saw lots of pelicans, gulls and cormorants through the telescope at the top. A blasé Red-shouldered Hawk showed-off on the Little Rock side. Not much traffic on a Tuesday. Enjoyed the informational signage and kiosk. The LR side has a working toilet even during the winter months.

We love riding the various trails that connect in Little Rock. Great paved trails for bikes! I love how most of the trails do not allow motorized vehicles too.

Nice chance to see the river and cityscape without a hard walk up. Takes like five minutes to get to the middle. Nice breeze on a a hot day.

This bridge provides a unique trail program joining North Little Rock to Little Rock for bikers and hikers alike.

The Big Dam Bridge is the longest pedestrian/bicycle only bridge in the United States, and it is definitely worth a visit. There is ample parking, picnic tables and benches, and miles of paved trails to walk or bike. The bridge is beautiful at any time of day, but a special treat from dusk to dawn, when the bridge stanchions are lit in a variety of colors. Our favorite hike/run is from the Big Dam Bridge to the Two Rivers Park bridge (also lit in colored lights from dusk until dawn), and back. Be aware that in Little Rock, theft is a problem, so lock your vehicles and leave nothing of valuable in the car. In fact, we put everything in the trunk before we drive to the park. Bathroom facilities are limited, at present, to portable toilets, but these are kept fairly well maintained. The Big Dam Bridge is a lovely place to enjoy the beauty Little Rock has to offer, and it is free!

This is a very nice facility we were able to visit in March of 2017. We enjoyed walking above the dam.

Beautiful walk up and over the Arkansas River. Day or night worth the time! Good parking on either side of the river which separates North Little Rock from Little Rock.

I had a beautiful sunny day to walk this attraction and it was gorgeous. The parking lots seems to have enough space for everyone. The walkway is nicely paved, it's not too steep going up or down. There is a lock system for barges here as well, and that's nice to watch from above. They have several resting places along the way. There is a caged area above the barge which gave off a strobe light effect as I walked through it on the sunny day and was a bit nauseating. The bathroom areas are port-a-potties, permanent bathrooms would be a great improvement. They obviously meant for people to park and walk/bike the bridge and associated trails and port-a-potties are just nasty.
There are information plaques provided and a sign to take your picture at as well. All in all a nice walk with some nice views. This would really be pretty when the leaves are changing!

The view is awesome! This bridge is so cool. You can walk across the bridge or bike or blade. It is 14 miles across. If you are in the area and the weather is nice, this is a must if you like the outdoors.

The bridge has a walking/biking trail built on top of it offering amazing views of the Arkansas river

Bicycled the Arkansas River Trail, including Big Dam Bridge for the first time. Local governments did this one right—well designed, constructed, and maintained, clean, and used by many. It was indeed a pleasure to enjoy.

Yesterday I had a bit of time for a long walk. I parked my car at Murray Park, and walked to the Big Dam Bridge. I went up the bridge, but then I turned left. I usually turn right. If you turn left, you can walk to Burns Park. The Big Dam Bridge has a pretty steep slope, so it is a great work out for your hamstrings and quadriceps. It is a popular walk with my three small children. I highly recommend the Big Dam Bridge at least once a month. It was also a great place to look at the high water when the Arkansas River crests.

It is very scenic and has saved untold millions in flood damage. The Arkansas River
always looked muddy. Now the Lakes between the Dams are full of fish and are
great for boating and pleasure craft. It carries barge freight from the Mississippi River
to Tulsa, OK.

I visited with friends on a Sunday afternoon. It was very hot in August, and there was little shade. Use sunscreen and take a hat and lots of water with you if you visit in August. The views from the bridge are great, and you can see Pinnacle Mountain in the distance. Be prepared to be surrounded by bicyclists and joggers - it's a popular place for outdoor enthusiasts.

I have been on foot and bike many times on the bridge since its construction. It is beautiful and you shouldn't leave Little Rock without walking across it. The views are stunning . It can be crowded between 5-7 pm so try to avoid that time of day . Some times there are bike rides or runs on the bridge. Mostly in spring and fall. Another bridge is the two rivers bridge not far that is neat too . A must in Little Rock!!!

Been meaning to go check the bridge out for a long time finally did!! We took our time walked across to the other side, lots of pictures , amazing views... Had just hiked pinnacle Mountain, cool to see it from the bridge!! Watched a helicopter probably in training dipping buckets of water from the river.. Spring or fall would be the best time to do this!!

Great view and sounds from river below. There is always a nice breeze. Fishermen are eager to show their catch

Big Dam bridge is in a really pretty setting. You experience the beauty of the surroundings plus get to get some great exercise.

This walking bridge goes over the Arkansas River at the Murray Lock and Dam. The visitors walk or run or ride bikes. It is a large bridge that allows the crossing of the Arkansas River on foot. I find these bridges to be great experiences. I think I prefer the the Chain of Rocks bridge at St. Louis to this one for scenic reasons. The Arkansas River is wide at this point and the river area doesn't seem to have wildlife on view at this area. The Murray Lock and Dam is an impressive facility. There are large cargo barges that come to the lock to move on the river. The walk up the ramp could be difficult for persons with physical limitations.

Bridge built over dam on the Arkansas River. Good place to walk or bike usually lots of people on weekend.

Nice hike up a concrete path to the top of the dam. Very pretty views of the river. Wheelchair accessible though there is a slight incline on the path. Wear walking shoes.

This is the big dam bridge and here you will not find a dam guide or a dam tour but what you will find is a dam bridge to take you to the other side. Nice walk or ride on bike. Check out the big dam bridge.

First, be sure to google this place, then follow the directions from the downtown area.
We decided to cut through a residential area to save time and it took longer to get there.
It was a great place to visit, but there was no place to get refreshments, water, soda, food, etc.
If the weather is warm your going to need water, an umbrella (for the sun), and a good pair of walking shoes.
We only walked about a quarter mile. Basically to a point where we could get pictures from over the Dam.
There are sweeping concrete walkways that take a long gradual path to the bridge across the Dam.
"A long no-so gradual path; if you not in good physical condition."
It was a pretty hot day when we visited this summer.
If you are looking to get some great aerobic exercise or would like to get some great exercise riding a bicycle, then this is your place.
This is accessible from both sides of the river and it appears as though the entry path is the same from both directions.
We came in from the Little Rock side.
It's a nice place to visit. Great to say you've been to the Dam thing...I mean Biggest Dam Bridge I've ever seen.
You can get some great photos from the parking area or even part of the way up the winding path.
Make sure you have a wrist strap for your camera. You sure don't want to drop it in the water reaching through the fence to take that special photo.
If you get there, then please let me know about your experience.
Thanks for reading my review.

I love working close to here so I can take my lunch down and eat outdoors and then take a walk and enjoy the area , never a let down

Who doesn't love to say the saw the largest "insert thing here" in the world while on a family road trip? This is the largest pedestrian bridge. This wasn't a fancy tour. It was a self guided walk across a very large bridge which was just a very cool experience for it's simplicity of a family walk on a very large bridge. If in Little Rock it is worth the stop. There are picnic tables on the shore line which would make this a nice place for a picnic and walk... Of course the kids loved saying they went to the Big "Dam" Bridge. Ages: 14, 12, 11, & 8.

This is another great central Arkansas place to hike or bike. The bridge itself is about a mile across and sports some fantastic views both up and downstream. A great hike is from the Little Rock side, across the bridge and then do the wooded Pheifer Loop trail on the North Little Rock side and return to Little Rock via the bridge. May 4-5 miles round trip. You can also hike from the Two Rivers Park bridge along the river on the Little Rock side for another 5 miler.

You cannot go on the dam itself, but can above it and take pictures and walk across the river on the bridge

Definitely stop here if you have the time and are in the area. I don’t think it’s worth a super special trip to see this place, but it’s still neat to see. Watch for the speed humps on the way in. Plenty of parking. Lots of people jogging and riding bikes, so be ready to watch for them.

We don’t bridges that this in Florida. This was amazing. The view was great and even though it was cold, it was still nice to see everything.

As an engineer, I was able to get my geek on. My kids were just glad to get out and walk. The bridge is a pedestrian trail for walkers and bikes. The incline is a little steep but there are flat places to stop, rest, take pictures. There were plenty of people pushing strollers or wheelchairs. I also saw numerous people riding bikes up and over the river. Its a great view of the river, the dam, a working lock for barges, and a nice view of part of the city. You can also walk by and see the hydroelectric facility.

Lots of raving reviews for this bridge.... but afraid we could not figure out why everyone was raving about it. We rode the bike trail to it and over the bridge - but really - it is just a big pedestrian and cycling bridge over the river. Some nice views - yes - but we were glad we saw it as part of a bike ride and not as a special trip just to see it.....

We drove to the dam for sight seeing. You can't see much unless you are walking or on a bike. But the area is clean and beautiful.
Arkansas is one of the more beautiful states that I have traveled.

Beautiful walk. Definitely got my exercise. Very well kept up. Loved it! We had a great time. Don't go if you think it will rain.

Beautiful views! Saw deer and other bikers! Easy ride make sure you bring water especially on a hot day!

Very impressive architectural monument with raw nature at its best. Easy access and parking friendly

We rode our bikes over the Big Dam Bridge as park of the Big Dam Bridge 100. The view was amazing and it was fun.

A Big Dam Bridge to enjoy the Dam. Anyone can walk or bike on the the Big Dam Bridge.
We could stay as long as we wanted and see how the dam works. It is free.
I really liked my time here. It was worthwhile.

Not a "must see", but if you'd like a walk with a water view, go to the Big Dam Bridge! It's a walking and bike riding bridge -- no cars allowed. It was breezy when we reached max height, and the walk is really nice when the sun sets over the hills. Not too demanding so this can be enjoyed by almost everyone.

The BDB is one of the signature outdoor activities spots in Little Rock. Whether you are walking across or biking along the river trail, the BDB is a great place to use as the starting point.

Love the Big Dam Bridge. Easy walk up gentle incline. Fantastic views of Arkansas River and Pinnacle Mountain. Our favorite spot.

My husband and I drove out to the Big Dam Bridge from downtown Little Rock. Don't look too hard for that name, though; the signs point you to the Murray Lock and Dam. That said, it's not all that hard to locate - and the trip is well worth it. The bridge is a little more than 4200 feet long and is the longest pedestrian (& bicycle) bridge in the world. It affords great views of the dam in operation. We also could see several species of birds flying overhead, looking for fish in the waters below them. I saw my first bald eagle there! You can take your time crossing the bridge; benches are located in a number of places offering beautiful views of the Arkansas River, the dam, and fishermen. The bridge is also part of the lengthy Arkansas River bike trail, which may appeal to serious cyclists.

This bridge is an awesome place to get some fresh air and take in some beautiful scenery. It’s very accessible to all ages and wheelchairs. Well kept and clean.

My favorite outdoor place to go for a quick run. The bridge connects the river trail, also a popular place for bike riders.

Little Rock's Big Dam Bridge is a great place to take a scenic walk on the longest pedestrian and bicycle bridge in North America that has never been used by either trains or motor vehicles. You get a great view down the river on both sides of the walk as well as the massive water flow ( if the season is right), and if you are really fortunate you may get a chance to see a barge navigate the locks that facilitate the commericial freight use of the Arkansas River on it's way to joining with the Mighty Mississippi.
Just maybe you can work up your appetite for some of the great restaurants in the Little Rock area.

Who knew Little Rock had so many bridges you could walk across. How could you pass up walking across a bridge that was called the “Big Dam Bridge.” Plenty of parking. I did not see any boats in the locks, but that would be cool to watch. Did not get to explore much on the other side of the bridge as it started to rain.

There is a very nice view from up on top, but otherwise this is just concrete and fencing placed over a dam.

I absolutely love running across the Big Dam Bridge! The trail is typically full of other walkers and runners on weekends. I always feel very safe.
The climb is intense but worth it. There are benches and lookouts at the top.

I remember when this lock, dam, and walking bridge was built. We lived in North Little Rock at the time. If you are into big, impressive, marvelous man made stuff, this is for you. You can bike, walk, watch, or just be there on the river and take it all in.
You really get a feeling of being small in comparison. It is worth the trip to see it, hear it, experience it, and by your presence give a vote of confidence and appreciation for engineering wonders.

Loved walking over the river with spouse, grandkids and even took our out of town visitors to this unique location.

Walking, running and cycling all possible across this bridge. It provides great perspective of the river and its surroundings. It was great to see a set of barges go through th lock.

I took a sunset stroll across the bridge and had the added bonus of watching a barge lock through. As a single solo traveling female, I felt safe to be in this park area. Several people spoke to me and we're quite friendly as we watched the setting sun. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Little Rock.

The walk/bicycle bridge that was built around this dam is amazing, it afforded a great view of not only the dam but the river and hills surrounding it. This would be a great place for all ages although the walk is on an incline.

Its a sight to see and a bit of a challenge to bike. Its a great walking bridge but a pretty tough bike ride if you are not a seasoned cyclist.

You can see some amazing sunsets and sunrises from the big dam bridge. Great for walking or riding your bicycle. Pleasant and enjoyable walk along the river and over the river. Great for relaxation and fresh air.

This is a bridge that is expansive and goes across the river to an island. There is plenty of free parking and portable bathrooms. It is a bit of a walk so if you have a walking disability I would not recommend it. However it is wheel chair accessible. You can see a lot of stuff from the bridge.

Great pace to run, bike, and hike all the way to Little Rock. The trail leads down to the Clinton Library in the River Market. The River Market is a gem in the city where you can eat in some of the best restaurants in the nation. The Pubs are great too after along bike are hike from the Big Dam Bridge!

You can take a short walk or bike ride over the bridge or an extend one for miles along the Arkansas River with view of Pinnacle Mountain and skyline. Yes, it's over a dam! It's a fun walk with easy access 5 minutes from downtown LR. Perfect place to watch the sunset.

Read someone's review and visited just before sunset - so pretty! This is a must see from the drive through beautiful neighborhood to easy parking, lots of walkers, bikers, families, it was a great visit. The bridge goes over the river but part are locks that barges go through to lower part of river. We returned the next day and watched a large load pushed by a "tugboat" and love it. Go here first, you might want to return for the exercise and the view!

Soaring over the Arkansas River at Little Rock, this is a very relaxing way to spend a couple hours and get a little light exercise at the same time. Wide and constructed of concrete, the bridge is open to walkers, pets, and bicycles. Bring your toddler in a stroller. A wonderful family environment.
Not only is the bridge itself beautiful, but it is also a part of a trail system that runs for miles, both east into Little Rock, and west out toward Pinnacle Mountain. You may well see a family of ducks relaxing on the North side of the bridge.
Plenty of free parking is available on both north and south sides. Easy access to the north side from I-430 makes it even better. Restroom facilities are permanent buildings on the north side and "porta-potties" on the south side.
Bring your bikes and the family out; just remember to "ride nicely" and share the bridge safely. You'll enjoy it.

Walking, biking, rollerblading, this paved path that connects Little Rock and North Little Rock is really awesome. It is a beautiful trail that offers different trails and bridges along the way to connect both cities... bathrooms and water facilities along the way , even for your pet. A dog park is also located on the north little rock side at Burns Park. The views are amazing and you can part at lots of different locations and go as short or as long of a walk, run, bike, skate as you like. Well done ......

This is an absolute gem of Little Rock and its commitment to outdoor activities. Great for walks, runs, and bike rides alike. It's a great place to check out.

We had a great time walking the bridge. It's very peaceful. People walking were very friendly. The views are fantastic. We watched barges in the locks. I only made it half way. But next time well we will see

A short, pretty drive from downtown along the river. The pedestrian bridge is nearly a mile walk across the river. Good view of the dam and lock from the 90 foot high bridge. Nice and quiet since it is a pedestrian bridge without an adjacent road.

We drove a short distance from Downtown Little Rock, and parked at the base of Big Dam Bridge, where there was free parking. A 5 minute walk and you are on the bridge, where you can see fantastic views of the hills and river. Oh and don't forget the dam itself. This is suitable for walkers and cyclists. The one disappointment for us was that it was not a through road, and we had to turn round go back towards the city, before then changing course back towards the west to continue our journey.

Amazing time on the trails. Would like to see more information on the intersections where we are on the trail system.

If you have a Civil Engineer or bridge lover in the family, this is a must do. The bridge is one of a few that was built just for pedestrians. There are also old locks at one end.

Took this this last weekend . Nice walk, good views, good breeze. This was my second time... just as much fun as the first.

Great place to walk, run bike, skate. Miles and miles of paved trails. Beautiful views of the river, lake behind the dam, and the dam itself - if you're interested as I was
Umm, yeah
Yes, in Arkansas this would be a big dam. Yes, it incorporates a bridge. We assume that it does its job well. Why is it an attraction?
