2 of 21 Best Attractions in Key Biscayne

The park is located in the complete south of key biscayne. The park offers nice walk paths, cycling roads, tables bathrooms, parkings and much more. The beaches are clean from trash and during the walks you can see turtle nests that are protected. Take your own umbrella and chair as there is not much places to protect from the sun. The park also offers like a boat parking to go and eat lunch. Also go to the south point to get a glimpse of the light house.

As a state park located on kay Biscayne, it is a little further away from the noise of the city of Miami. I was there on a weekday and not many people were in the park. It's nice to take some time to hike along the trails. It can happen that a really large iguana crosses your way or that suddenly a great egret is standing right in front of you. If you keep your eyes open, you might find a hermit crab at the beach. You can go for a swim there but there are no lifeguards present.
The most iconic part of the beach is probably the lighthouse. You can take great pictures there.

I went on September 10, 2024, they stole $218 from inside my parked car and my cell phone charger wire. A shame not to have a security camera on site!

Peaceful beach where you can visit the lighthouse if you time it right. Rent covered duo bikes to ride through the park. Bring your bug spray.

Drive down Crandon Boulevard to the State Park or walk along the white sands south of the Village of Key Biscayne to find a stretch of ocean not hampered by the excessive amounts of seaweed that are affecting many seaside resorts this year.
Here you will be able to walk along the sandy beach towards the lighthouse or bathe in the warm waters of the ocean with little or no seaweed between your toes!
There are sunbeds for hire but no lifeguard on duty.
The lighthouse offers great views and there are two guided tours, but they may not be suitable for those who suffer from vertigo!
Continue walking towards No Name Harbor stopping off at the fishing piers; if you gaze into the deep waters and are lucky with your timing, an array of zebra fish and colorful parrot fish may greet you or you might see the familiar shape of a baby brown shark, perhaps 2-3 feet long.
The park has picnic & BBQ facilities and there is a cafe at No Name Harbor offering food and drinks with a lovely view.
The green vegetation is surprisingly varied with vivid red or yellow flowers.
There are green and black iguanas in the trees and lots of large butterflies.
So lots to see and do at the tip of this island paradise.

Went to see the houses on stilts and the lighthouse (which you can climb to the top for good views, then went to sit on the beach for a while. Picnic areas were just off the beach and there is a restaurant and bar too. You can hire bikes around the Key and there were lots of Racoons begging for food around the bins.

It’s really nice with the light Tower.
But you pay to get in the park . 8 $ for one car.
There’s a restaurant in there and restrooms.
If I was going there again I would probably just go to the beach right when you get in to Key Biscayne on the right( marina is on the left)
It’s a calm beach soo blue water and no waves. A paradise beach.
Biscayne Park beach

When we went in February the lighthouse area closed at 4:00 pm (although perhaps later in the season it is open longer), so we missed out on that area this time. You can still get relatively close to the lighthouse for photos, but not within the immediate area. But, if your primary purpose is just to take a look at the scenery - it is interesting in all directions - and not spend the day swimming, picnicking or fishing (all of which are possible), if you arrive one hour prior to closure of the park, the admission fee is half-price, at $4.00, per car. In terms of planning your trip to this park, note that you are driving through some congested areas that may slow you down a bit, and it is particularly congested when people are returning from work in Miami.

Nice natural area at the south end of Key Biscayne. There’s a beach there if you want to swim and soak up the sun. A feature for me was the lighthouse. It was not open for tours but the exterior has been restored. There is a restaurant and washrooms there. Don’t feed the raccoons. They are pesty enough. It is a State Park so you have to pay to get in by Car.

We found this park by mistake and decided to spend some time there, it was nice, clean, relaxing. We also had a beer, a tamale and tortilla soup at the Cuban restaurant in the park. All very nice!

My boyfriend and I only got to spend an hour or two at the park, but it was well worth the trip. The beaches are white and sandy with clear blue waters for snorkeling. The lighthouse wasn’t open to climb when I went but was gorgeous and made for great photos. Walking around the barrier touching the ocean was really fun- the water was crystal clear and we could watch tropical fish hanging out around the rocks. I was very tempted to break out my mask and dive in to swim with the fish! One quirk about this place are the raccoons that hang out in the park during broad daylight. They weren’t aggressive or anything but definitely aren’t afraid of humans. Very cute though! I hope to visit again someday and explore more of the park.

Beautiful beach with life guards and rental chairs and umbrellas. Great hiking trails and we rented a quad bike for a nice ride around. No name harbor has a place to eat and nice yacht viewing with a couple manatee sightings at a distance.
Best lunch at Lighthouse Cafe! Great sangria and cold beers. The tostones con cameron appetizer was fabulous! The seafood was delicious. Great find- not just a burger and dog place, although you can get those.

It is $8 to enter by car, so don't go for just half an hour. You will be able to access an absolutely lovely beach, with less seaweed than most of the other beaches around here. The lighthouse is worth a visit and you must take a walk down the fishing side as we saw Dolphins.

Quiet little country park with lots of narrow but nice beach front. Shallow sea so safe for swimming and great views over to South Beach. Lots of lizards, spiders, raccoons and birds in the bush areas, on the beach we saw lots of seabirds fishing,, including a sea eagle, lots of fish jumping, very natural and enjoyable.

Unlike the beaches you find in South Beach, this beach is really best for families, friends, and those who want to relax in a lawn chair sans chaos and drunken debauchery. Take Rickenbacker highway to the very end and you’ll arrive at the gate where you’ll need to pay a small entrance fee (in cash) before entering the state park. Drive through the park to the very end and find parking near the lighthouse, café, or one of the restroom facilities. This park is equipped with toilets, showers, and ADA accessible ramps. But the real benefit of this park is the ability to rent two beach loungers and an umbrella for $20! Just walk on to the beach and flag down one of the guys riding ATVs – they’ll set it all up for you, or take a seat at any open chairs and they’ll come by eventually to collect payment (in cash).
Once you settle into your chairs, take a look around and enjoy the safe family atmosphere. This beach attracts full extended families, young couples, and lots of groups of friends – you’ll feel very safe on this beach surrounded by strangers. Everybody brings food and drinks, but nobody is getting wild or out-of-hand (and please mind your beach manners and refrain from brining glass bottles). Additionally, this beach is not plagued with some of the seaweed and riptide problems that the South Beach beaches have – so it’s a perfect place for little ones to play in the nearly wave-less water.
My only complaints are that the beach is a) a little smaller than expected and can sometimes feel a little crowded on weekends and b) not a great place for beach photography – you won’t find perfect white sand or dozens of luscious palm trees… and the lighthouse leaves something to be desired.
Bottom line: this is a locals beach (for good reason!) – so if you need a break from the craziness of South Beach, take the 40ish minute scenic drive to get your fill of the beach.

My husband and I are in Fort Lauderdale for a few days before we board our ship for a cruise. I came down to key Biscayne and stopped at this State Park. We went to the end and parked our car. We took a walk by the Atlantic, we saw people fishing and a lot of wildlife. There is a beautiful Lighthouse there, but it wasn’t open. It has a lot of history about the island and how it became to be.
There are grills and restrooms which are clean.
We will definitely be back again!!

Our purpose was to see the lighthouse, we were a little disappointed as it was dirtier and in a a little worse shape than the other 3 that we had toured to date, but the park was gorgeous. There are appear to be all kinds of rentals, and activities for families. The grounds are well maintained.

We enjoyed this beach with optional chair/umbrella rental nearby. The beach wasn't nearly as large as South Beach but was plenty big enough for sunbathing, swimming, etc. Lots of parking in multiple areas with two food pavilions/cafes available for lunch (somewhat moderately priced). Near the historic lighthouse (open for free tours at 10:00 and 1:00 every day except Tuesday/Wednesday). Bike rentals also available for island rides. Overall a great family-friendly atmosphere!

We so enjoyed renting bikes and traveling around this park. We visited the lighthouse and swam in the beaches. Beautiful, stunning views everywhere. There are also several restaurants along the rite for sitting and having a drink or a bite.

We came into the park by boat and anchored in the harbor. Great trails to the lighthouse and beach. Two restaurants available in the park. Calm harbor. Came back again on the weekend just for lunch and it was crazy busy with a lot of boat traffic and loud music.

We arrived at the park via sailboat and dinghied ashore with our folding bicycles. Great park to ride in. Lots of foliage and pretty flowers.

Take a half day to bike in the park is a true relax journey. The park has bike route, and you can ride and enjoy the nature, many people are fishing, and there are lots of fish you can see from the west side of the shore line. Many raccoons in the park, people fed them despite the warning sign. They became not afraid the human. There are several beaches in the park too.

Great family place with a lot of parking spots. It is a great option vs Miami Beach. There is a lighthouse, beach area and a bike roads. Entrance is $8.

My family went here for the day on our last day of vacation. The water was clear, the seaweed is a problem up & down the east coast, so can't fault them for that. I would have preferred a cleaner bathroom facility. Food at the Lighthouse Café was good. We had fried yuca, shrimp ceviche, chicken & fries, steak sandwich & fish sandwiches. Very nice facility, just needs a good cleaning in the Bathroom.

Absolutely beautiful park, beach, grounds, etc. Awesome place to bring the family, bbq, picnic, relax, and swim. You can also fish, bike, hike, & tour the old lighthouse. A nice Lighthouse Cafe by the beach & Boater’s Grill restaurant (with a view to a quaint little marina/inlet) if you don’t want to pack your own lunch. Nice, clean bathroom facilities & outdoor showers / foot washers. Highly recommended.

Very clean and nice park. Well maintained walk ways. Beautiful lighthouse. Nice big sandy beach. Lots of parking.

We came here on a Thursday and the beach is not crowded at all. We parked by the lighthouse. We were lucky we get to climb up to the top of the light house with panoramic view of south Florida. The beach is very beautiful and we rented two chairs and an umbrella combo for $40. We tried snorkel by rocks near the lighthouse , only few fishes were seen.

Horrible. Full of people. Liter everywhere. Traffic! HORRIBLE DONT RECCOMEND. So much traffic. No seats in beach. Park looks dirty

Bill Baggs state park is just a beautiful natural Preserve on the end of Key Biscayne. Its great for bicycling, long walks on the beach, wading. Not particularly great for swimming since the water is kind of shallow as the grass flats come right up to the to the shoreline. There are little restaurants with everything from hamburgers to fresh fish dinner. The whole experience is very low-key and ultra casual. It's not particularly commercialize. It's just a great place for lying on the beach taking a tan, take a long walk on the beach maybe make a picnic-- enjoy!

Great beach at the end of Key Biscayne. Super quiet and relaxing. Make sure you climb to the top of the lighthouse for fantastic views. Snack Bar, beach chair umbrella rentals. Changing rooms. Not the chaos of South Beach. Plus its free. Take a drive by Richard Nixon's old winter white house compound. The original has been torn down but you get a sense of where a lot of political deals went down with Bebe Rebozo.

It seems impossible that near a city like Miami there could be such an interesting natural oasis. In addition to the paths there are accesses to the beach and picnic tables. We had a very pleasant day.

Horrible experience, this is a beach that you need to pay for you to enter,I'm talking about the men's and the umbrellas and chairs rental,if you don't rent you CAN'T PUT YOUR THINGS BY THE WATER OR ELSE,this Horrible thing happened every time that my family and I go to put our things by the water, this men that I can identify him started right away yelling at you telling you that you can't stayed in there and if you are not go hi started to say that he knows me,and started to offend us we start to telling him that he can't do that that is illegal,we paid and we stay in a place that we want but is a business that they have, his Cuban like me and this same thing happened constantly in cuba well its happened to this place a lot trying to scare you, offended you and worse this thing had to stop, because that's illegal for them to do that

Was a really nice beach away from the madness. The lighthouse in the background makes for a scenic day. The water was super calm and my 3 yr old nephew loved splashing in the water. Two chairs and an umbrella were only $25 for the day, a steal compared to Miami Beach. We had a great day on this scenic and family friendly beach. We saw iguana and a manatee! Water and beach was super clean and clear.

The beach is only 1.5 miles and relatively private. We are here at start of hurricane season.. The sky was overcast with scattered showers..That might be why there werent as many people. The lighthouse adds a touch of romance. Overall good trip..

We went there on the Sunday before July 4th and it was crowded - we should have gotten there earlier. But we still got chairs and an umbrella ($20) right along the water. The beach was very crowded but still great.
We went to the restaurant afterwards and had an awesome Avocado Salad with Grilled Chicken and Shrimp. It was fresh and delicious. If we weren't eating dinner in a few hours, we would have had the whole grilled Snapper or something else. The food and service were great. I have been to lots of Florida State Parks and usually get microwaved hotdogs. We'll be back.

This state park is a dream. A beautiful beach and the historic lighthouse. We were there during the week morning and it was wonderfully empty. Therefore from us full score!

This place is pretty and I took a hike through the numerous trails that were there. The scary thing is there were large banana spiders everywhere and you have to be careful not to run into a web! ah!

The Cape Florida Lighthouse is incredible! I had my wedding here in March and the State Park staff were awesome, the weather was unbeatable and the Lighthouse makes an incredible backdrop 😊❤️

$8 per car entry I believe it’s cheaper if you’re on your own. Such a gorgeous place, a beach with beautiful views, visit the lighthouse and walk around the park wildlife everywhere especially raccoons! A couple of places for food but most people brought their own and ate on the beach/ at the seating and eating areas.

The moon and high tide created some flooding (meaning I couldn't get anywhere near the lighthouse0 but the park itself is beautiful. Next time, I'll allow more time.

Bill Baggs park in Key Biscayne FL is the last park on the island of Key Biscayne. Only accessible by car or boat. It has a restaurant with a marina and public beaches (For a fee). It has ample parking but most weekends is full after 10 or 11 am. There is significant vegetation between the beach and the parking area, which includes some huts and BBQ grills. Which makes the beach seem very natural. However, if your group wants to do both, it will have to split, which is not convenient for families with small children.
As with most parks in Florida, mosquitoes are a problem at sunset, so bring your repellent.

Somehow the open/closed status should be communicated before we paid the bridge toll and drove the length of the island to get there.
Very disappointing.

We had a wonderful afternoon at this park! The drive in has great views over the causeway, and there is plenty of parking. The entry fee is $8. We visited the lighthouse, which has really nice grounds, as well as the beach. It was very pleasant, with a lot of families biking and cooking out. We would definitely return.

A beautiful place. Well worth the trip. We were staying close by and I wanted to check out the running trails. Trails are so nice, great for running or biking. Beautiful scenery. Will be back!

I love this Key Biscayne state park, the beach is one of the best in the Miami area, the view stunning and you can rent a beach chair and umbrella if needed. Fish restaurant also available, open during lockdown.

Bill Baggs state park is at the far end of Key Biscayne. In order to get tgere you pass over a beautiful bridge called the Rikenbaker causeway with the ocean one one side and the bay on the other, Then you pass Seaquarium, Crandon Park, The Tennis area, the Hotels and then you reach Bill Baggs State Park
There are beaches, Tandem bikes for rent, Picnic areas, places to fish and also some quiet places to just sit and enjoy nature.
There is also an od Lighthouse that offers tpurs at certain times as well as ranger held Nature walks. What a great place for a Sunday outing.

This used to be my favorite spot in South Florida. The park is a must-see. We rented bikes recently and the quality of the quadricycles was poor and they broke during the ride. The staff's lack of taking responsibility for their mismanagement was inexcusable.
I don't plan on renting from here again.

Parking was hard to find without a long walk. Though from the entrance to the beach area I liked the walking mat to get to the beach, made it much easier to walk and for those hauling coolers. We had lunch at the Light House Café. While we were there the line for a table ebbed and flowed. The outdoor seating was comfortable though the breeze wanted to steal our napkins away. We chose fish sandwiches which were good. After lunch we walked to the beach and enjoyed it a while. If we arrived earlier & stayed longer we would have rented a couple chairs from them there.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State park or known locally as “el farito” is a great place to have an amazing day. You will easily spent an entire day at this beautiful park.... Beautiful beach, lush tropical environment, plenty of walking and biking trails. Visitors can delve into history on guided tours through the lighthouse and keeper’s cottage or explore the park on foot, on a bicycle or by boat or kayak. Do visit the lighthouse for outstanding views of the park and the ocean. The beach is clean, wide, and not too busy. There are also lots of picnic tables and pavilions perfect for a picnic with the family! And there’s also two restaurants if you prefer that option. The perfect place to relax with family or friends. The price is $8 for a car with 2-8 people, but it's well worth it. This park is clean and the staff are friendly! Be sure to stay to see the stunning sunsets over the bay. (Grace & Josh)

I live in south FL and often go to parks. Nevertheless, this park surprisingly was a little gem, I did not expect I will enjoy my visit so much even without going to the beach! Went to the lighthouse and to a natural trail at the other side of parking lot. Saw several iguanas. I can't explain it, nothing that special for someone who knows FL, but it was fun. So if you like outdoors and happen to be nearby, pay a visit! Make sure to look up the schedule of Lighthouse tours, you cannot go up outside of the specified time frames.

Finally found peaceful beaches in the Miami area! Beautiful soft sand and the lighthouse offers a great view and a welcome breeze. However, the raccoons were running amok in the picnic areas- this place needs to adopt leave no trace principles already and fine people for leaving their trash! Saw at least 6 raccoons during the day, none looked rabid but were socialized and people were feeding and petting them! Not good.

The beach was great!! Very family friendly and the bike rentals near by were fantastic!! There is a restaurant within walking distance for a snack and some ice cream. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon at a calm beach.

Enjoyed a morning walk around the park. Saw anhingas and fish. Great shaded paths. Quiet morning place to hang out

Good place to relax and spend the day fishing. A little hideaway from crowded places and easy access.

DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE IN YOUR CAR!!! The beach is beautiful, there are 2 restaurants on the beach, we ate at the Lighthouse and both food and service were good. We had visited twice during our recent Miami Beach vacation. The first day we were there we rented a cute 2 seater bike and toured the park on the bike trail. The second day, we had a late flight home and decided to spend our time on the beach here since it was so beautiful and peaceful, a welcome break from the crowds on South Beach. We had checked out of the hotel and brought all of our luggage with us so that we could leave from the park and go straight to the airport. When we returned to our car after spending about 3 hours at the beach we realized that my laptop and a pouch of costume jewelry, packed in my carry on bag, were missing. The car was parked in a busy area near the restaurant. There was no sign of a forced entry. I was devastated, a horrible way to end a relaxing vacation. We made a police report and the officer said this was a common occurrence. We had a false sense of security there, we let our guard down which is unusual for us, but a hard lesson learned.

We loved this beach. Visited around afternoon and there was not much crowd. White sands, clean beach. Had a great family time. Sunbeds and umbrella rental cost $25 and $8 for the admission. And also there is a beautiful lighthouse for some amazing pictures.

This beach is very long; the water here is really nice, clean and clear. Lots of spaces for parking and barbecue. You can rent chairs and umbrellas. Very pretty.

This park was just what we were looking for while we were in Key Biscayne. It was beautiful, natural, an not crowded. We spent two days on the beach, ate at both restaurants, swam, walked the trails and enjoyed the natural beauty of the park.

Key Biscayne is a very bike friendly place and bringing your bike into the park adds to the experience.

Not a fan of the entrance fee being $8, after also paying the toll to get there. If you had a van full of 6 or something that's better, but with just two of us, meh. There is a lighthouse in the park, which is cool to visit (and free, after the entrance fee.) The lighthouse is the main feature in my opinion. There were some nice trails for biking or walking. To see some cool nature you'd want to get there early, definitely gets busy.
The beach itself wasn't great. I don't know if it's the time of the year, tide, or just how it is now? Some pictures from previous years it looked a lot better. There was a lot of seaweed and just wasn't clear water at all. We basically did the lighthouse and ended up leaving because the beach water wasn't really something to swim in. This might've been our particular day, not sure, only time I have been. Something interesting to do though, go through the lighthouse and trails if wanting to get away from the typical Miami.
Tip--there is a CVS just before the state park that sells drinks and stuff for affordable prices (unlike most other places on Key B). I didn't see anywhere in the state park surprisingly to buy food or drink. It might have been there, but not near the lighthouse or anywhere I saw, so grab some drinks and snacks at CVS if you forgot before you got on Key Biscayne.

I have been visiting this beach almost yearly and it never disappoints! It is great for families as well as individuals or couples who just want to get away from the busier touristy beaches. I love the calm water (great for the kids!) as well as the lighthouse (free to climb during certain hours!)

The very rugged beaches... with many remains of vegetation. It wasn't clean sand. And the sea is not for people who like to get into the sea either. It is like a mini pool very beach and you can not get into the sea because of the corals.

This is an incredible park. It has beautiful beach, a lighthouse you can climb and a mangrove habitat you can view up close. There are many biking and walking paths. Lots of picnic areas, and a restaurant. Lots of parking. A really enjoyable park.

We walked to the lighthouse from the Ritz. It's about an hour walk and perhaps because of Hurricane Irma the beach was filled with plant life but the walk was good. Unfortunately, the lighthouse is closed on Tues and Weds. So plan accordingly. There are tours twice a day, apparently you don't have to take a tour to go in but the guides are there to answer questions. There are a lot of informational signs around the lighthouse but the tour guide was actually quite informative and delightful as well. There are about 100 steps to the top with places to stop and catch your breath along the way. There is also a place for light snack in the park and bathrooms as well. I wouldn't want to go swimming there. The water had a lot of sea grass in it. The day we were there, there were also a lot of small blue jellyfish along the beach. Good for sunbathing (I think you can rent chairs and umbrellas) and picnicking.

We went there for a day to relax on the beach and take in the sights and sounds of the ocean waves. We had a blast. Couldn't say enough good things about the beach.
Do make sure you take a bit of cash. For $20 you can rent 2 beach chairs and large umbrella that workers there set up for you. There is also a restaurant nearby (we didn't eat there) and there is a lighthouse which has been beautifully restored to about 1865ish standards. Very cool. Even enjoyed the local wildlife there too.
Will he back as we didn't get a chance to look at everything there.

This was a family outing to the park with a two year old toddler. After parking, we strolled along the seawall, in view of Stiltsville, around to the lighthouse. Our little guy enjoyed kicking his soccer ball and blowing bubbles in the picnic area. Then we had lunch at the cafe. Very nice. The scenery was excellent and contributed to a wonderful experience!

Rent a four person bike or visit the lighthouse, hit the water and another the beach, explore trails or just bask in the sun, it’s a lot of fun

Was very much looking forward to our staycation weekday beach adventure. It was a little crowded near the lighthouse so we walked down a ways to find a spot that was more empty and quiet.
We get all set up after our long trek in the heat when some staff member pulls up right in front of us in his beach vehicle. I thought he was going to collect the unused loungers but no he decided to set himself up there and just chill with his bad music playing loudly out of his car- right there on the shore, right in front of us.
My boyfriend was trying to tell me that the staff member would surely be leaving soon as I was growing more annoyed with this man’s lack of consideration.
When I asked him if he was going to be there for a while he said “yes”.
So we got up and moved because I didn’t come to a state park beach to sit behind anyone’s running vehicle.
We found an area further away from crowds and but sadly there was trash everywhere.
The umbrella attendants were more concerned with taking down an umbrella that was momentarily protecting us from a sudden storm then picking up the trash that their customers left and was scattered everywhere.
This excursion was sooo not worth it. It just showed me all the ugliness of the people here in my home city.

Very quiet beach and the water is spectacular very nice nice there are restaurants to eat and drink. Good parking places.

The beach was full of sun bathers. The picnic tables were full of outdoor diners. The tour of the lighthouse and keepers house is interesting and informative. The icecream van was strategically placed for those patrons who had just finished the climb up and down the lighthouse steps. Overall, a very pleasant afternoon.

it was was amazing and I got to go to disney world and we got to see hawaii dancers we had so much fun

We toured this large, gorgeous state park after arriving in Miami from a cruise. It was so beautiful with many water access points, places to fish and places to picnic, walk, bike, etc. Just wonderful.

For a solo person it's $4 to get in to the park. The beach is lovely with the lighthouse. The water is nice and warm. Clean beaches. Great place for the family to visit. Great scene to take pictures at too.

Nice presentation by the park guide and wonderful views from atop the lighthouse. Worth walking up the 109 steps!

On a recent trip to the Miami area I came across the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. With a lighthouse, trails, beaches and fishing I knew there was going to be something for everyone. Standing at 65ft tall and towering over the mangroves I knew we had to make it to the top so we headed out early to beat the Florida sun. The guide at the door was so friendly and informative. While this is not the tallest lighthouse in the State, the 109 steps to the top, in the dead heat of summer, do not make for a very happy family. Be sure to bring water...Once at the top, the view is absolutely incredible, by far one of the best views I have ever seen from the top of a lighthouse. From the turquoise waters to the gorgeous white sandy beaches you have a 360 degree view of everything.
If your family is like anything like my family, food is always on their minds. The park offers several options from restaurants to picnic benches and large pavilions that can be rented. We decided to grab a bite to eat at the Lighthouse Café, one of the open-aired restaurants inside of the park. This restaurant features everything from simple sandwiches to amazing seafood all at a very reasonable price. Now that my teenagers were full and ready to go, we decided to head out to the beach and hit the sand. Beach-goers will be happy to know that you don’t even need to bring anything with you; bikes, umbrellas, chairs, hydrobikes and kayaks are all available to rent. With over a mile of white, sandy beaches boarding the clear turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean there is more than enough room to spread out and unwind. Since the reef is only 6 miles offshore, the water is very calm and the waves are minimal, perfect for paddle boarding, or snorkeling near the rocks.

From the minute you pay the $2.50 toll to go over the bridge to Key Biscayne, you see nothing but people exercising, cycling, walking, and having fun in the ocean. If you drive all the way to the very end, past the Miami Seaquarium you will get to Bill Baggs Cape Florida state park. It’s eight dollars for two people to get in and I believe four dollars for one person to get in. There is plenty of parking and you can either walk or exercise on the cycle path, walk the nature trails, or climb the 101 steps up Cape Florida lighthouse and then relax on the beach afterwards. Plenty of restroom facilities, snack bars and a restaurant too. I have not been here in 20 years and I loved it!

Beautiful and peaceful. I recommend the Tour of the lighthouse and keepers home. Bike rentals are available. A great place to spend a day with family and friend

Very nice area. Don’t go early as they are using machines to clear the beach. Looks just like photography.

Be it for a picnic, a day at the beach or just an afternoon stroll. Bill Baggs has it covered. With unparaleled views of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami, there is nothing like watching the sunset from the seawall at Bill Baggs.
Does not get five stars for hours of operations (opens late).

We just drove to find this park at the end of Key Biscayne. You pay a small fee to enter the park, but you can be there for hours on the beach, watching the boats at the marina, walking the rocky shores. Great location and beautiful views.
The only disappointing that the lighthouse opening hours were not well displayed.

pleasant surprise for us. convenient parking, great views, comfortable walking trails. lighthouse is special, and world class beach. very close is a very nice restaurant, the Boaters restaurant. yes, we will return.

Had a nice little day trip to see the lighthouse and park area. The area was very clean and well taken care of. Nice pieces of history to see and read about on the trails. We would like to go again when we had more time.

We drove from Miami Port to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park after finishing our cruise from Castaway Cay. There were only a couple of people in the park.
Admission fee was USD 8 per car. We climbed to the top of the lighthouse. The view was nice and the beach looked beautiful as well. There were mosquitoes on the beach at noontime.

To be completely honest this was one of the best beaches my friends and I visited while on vacation to Miami. We were hoping for more waves but soon learned that Miami is naturally not a high wave part of Florida which was fine. Bill Baggs was probably the most peaceful and family oriented beach we went too. However like many of the beaches right now, the seaweed is a huge problem. I understand it’s healthy for our ecosystem but it smells awful due to it rotting on shore of the beaches. So be wary of that and it can get very crowded during the summer and prob weekends

Certainly not South Beach but a very nice relaxed beach. It does cost $8.00 to enter. Lots of parking and public bathrooms as well as showers.

My sister and I enjoyed our visit to this beautiful beach.... there was a lighthouse nearby and the beach was quiet.... nice to see that bikes were available for rent as well.

A short drive from downtown Miami, this beautiful place offers nice hikes, excellent beaches and ample parking in exchange for a very reasonable admission fee.

While a friend visited us in South Florida, we decided to pay the Baggs state park a visit. It’s a nice large park area including a lighthouse, many locations to watch the ocean, walking, jogging & bike paths, and there is a marina and a restaurant inside as well. All in all a very well rounded location for a group of friends or a family outing that could easily last a whole day. You can rent bikes as well.

They forced me to park in the area they wanted despite I explained that I had family waiting for me at the other side of the park, so what if I don’t want to do fk bbq and I wannt to go to the end of the park

School, colleges and other organizations volunteer the first of the month to clean up this beautiful state park. I have also been to the beach and it is a family oriented park with access to the beach on several spots and a great bike trail. Bathroom facilities and a snack bar. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful walk on the trail to the lighthouse. They ask for a $2 per person entry, and it's on the honor system. You get a real taste of the original flora that was replanted after a hurricane wiped out the invasive larger trees.

On the drive out to Bill Baggs state park you get the vibe that you are stepping into a different world, a higher class, more beautiful world. The $4 entrance fee is a bargain given the sandy beaches, lighthouse and boardwalk with views out to the ocean and of the Miami skyline. If I lived in Miami, this would be my escape on the weekends or when I had time off. There is plenty of parking when I visited but can imagine it fills up given the population of Miami. There is a shady tree covered area before you reach the beach , perfect for picnics or if you need a break from the sun. This area was also full of roving trash panda's aka Raccoons. Beautiful park, definitely a gem of the Florida Parks system and the Miami area.

Bill Baggs Cape State Park in Key Biscayne is full of Fun. Not only the does it have a wonderful beach, but it is also full of history. It has a great sea food restaurant that you can visit by sea or by land by entering the park. When entering the park it will be to the right hand side. Food is fantastic, outdoor with ocean breeze. You can even snorkle in the inlet. The light house has free tours starting at 11am up to 4pm. There is also the a beautiful place to relax in the back of the light house with palm trees and open view of the ocean. great fishing spot all long the back side of the park. Great nature walks. The beach does get full very fast if you go to spend the entire day looking for tables and barbecue. But if you just want to go for a swim, a bite, and a historical tour then any time will be find. The park opens from 8am to sunset about 7pm during summer months and 6pm during winter months. Entrance to the park is about $8.00 and it includes everything, the fishing, the restaurants, the snorkling, the lighthouse tours, and even a 30 min video of the history and the rebuilding of the lighthouse. A great place to spend an afternoon with the kids.

The drive here is scenic and there is a fee to get in. There is a cafe, picnic table pavilions, restrooms, trails, beach, etc. and of course the beautiful lighthouse! The beach sand is nice but with some seaweed. The water is so blue, very pretty! The only issue is they had a stinging marine life warning when we were there which freaked me out a bit. Not sure if that’s seasonal? The water was warm for February but I didn’t let my toddler go in past his feet cause of the man of war warning. Also there are lots of raccoons about at the entrance to the beach which freaked me out at first cause I thought they were rabid or something but upon speaking to others that frequent there often I found out they leave you alone if you leave them alone and they are always there just foraging for food.

Departing Florida we wanted to see the lighthouse which was closed on Christmas Day. It cost $8 per carload to enter the park. You drive to the end of the road and park so you can walk to the lighthouse. When you park, you find a restroom in case you need it. Walk along the gravel road and you'll smell the ocean and see different people fishing for their dinner. The vegetation is rich on one side and the calm ocean engulfs you with its beauty. At the end of the road you hit the lighthouse and the recreated houses of former coast members. You can physically walk up to the lighthouse and around the area. Nice pictures can be taken on the other side of a fence and on the jagged rocks infront of the structure. With good balance and safety, you can see manatees next to these rocks. This location is known for Seminole Indian attacks and the Southern route of the Underground Railroad that took slaves to the Bahamas. This is a family must see especially for the view and that smell.

My family was staying at Oleta River State Park (don't do that, BTW), and headed to Bill Baggs on the recommendation of an NPS ranger. We spent the afternoon in the park and enjoyed it. We took the free lighthouse tour (check the website for info...there are only a couple tours per day and they do not run certain days of the week). The tour was informative and the view from the top of the lighthouse was gorgeous. We also ate lunch at the Cafe which was a nice meal for such casual dining. Then we enjoyed the beach, which was lovely. I would recommend this park to anyone looking for a little more natural beach destination or anyone who enjoys lighthouses.

I have lived in Florida for 23 years and south Florida specifically for 17 years. This was the first time that I have been on a beach I actually enjoyed. The water was so calm and it was not crowded (we went on a Thursday during Labor Day weekend). I had my 2 year old in a puddle jumper with no issues. My 8 yo daughter and her friend were also able to swim with no worries. The beach was clean and very lovely. Yes there is seaweed, a lot of it but it didn't ruin the trip at all. Loved it!

Beautiful state park. Through a gorgeous palm tree lined walkway there is an old light house which you can walk up to the top for some picturesque views. They have a clean beach that offers chair rentals. There is also a bike rental hut which is we took advantage of. The cost wasn't too bad for 2hr rental. They also have a cafe on site which offers lunch and drinks including adult beverages. 💁
I absolutely love this state park and can't wait to go back!

State park so Federal pass will not get you in without paying $8 a carload. To get there just head over the Biscayne Bay bridge and keep going until the road stops. Nice little park at the end of park with clean bathrooms and some shade near the beach to watch the boats, including those setting lobster traps.
Visit the cafe area in the park, because it is a wonderful setting on the water, but bring your own picnic lunch and skip the food. Two different dinners said it was not great quality, and seven the hamburger was not great.
The Miami water side of the park has some nice views and the lighthouse.
Worth $8 If you have a couple hours to spare and want some quiet time with nature. If possible try going during the week when it is not being used by many people.

It was a very nice beach to visit and spend some time in the water. You do have to pay an $8 fee to get into the park.

Doing a very good job keeping clean during covid 19. Require masks, lots of things to do: swimming, walking, picnic. Lots of fish, small animals squirrels, raccoons, most people are locals.

Visited last week for the first time -
A lovely place to relax and enjoy the ocean, BUT!!!! racoons coming right up to you as you lounge in your chair and boldly looking for food in your belongings was unnerving, to say the least! They caused a few of us on the beach that day to scream and yell and try to shoo them off. They have no fear of people and even tried to steal a cookie from a child's hand, sending the parents into a frenzy. We also saw some of them around the garbage cans at the picnic area where we entered the beach and then again near the restaurant which is just down the beach a bit.

Great beach for families waves do not get huge thanks to the reefs. Lots of picnic spots, nearby restaurant. They have umbrellas, chairs and canopies to rent. The beach was a little dirty but every beach has some. It was not crowded at all we went on a Tuesday. There is a $8 entrance fee to the state park. Lots of parking beach wasn’t a far walk we had a great day.

Great park near the city, has lots of parking, boat moorings, beach area, has a cafe & a new one opening (it appears).
This is part of the Underground Railroad for you history buffs!
The lighthouse was nice to see outside. On a very quiet weekday the guy said it would reopen at 1:00 (it was 10:50 and people were up in it) so after our long walk we never got to see it at 1:30 or so. Too crowded (they limit it to 10 people at a time). Bummer.
A Pepsi (can) & an ice tea (very small) was $5 which I felt a tad overpriced.
Has a nice asphalt trail for cycling around the loop. Or you can walk on the sandy area. Nice views of the city. Dogs allowed. Raccoons around so watch your dog!

This place is great value at8$, lovely beaches and a nice light house. One thing though lookout for the raccoons the little lovely will try and nick you food!!

If you grew up as a kid going to state parks vacation, but it is what it is nostalgic does it for you. Let me say that the lighthouse and the staff there made the visit very enjoyable. We did eat at the lighthouse Café and it is very simple food that you would expect at the state park. The female waitresses there were extremely nice. The raccoons roaming the park are certainly not afraid of anything so be careful because they certainly will approach you. The biggest negative was the unfriendly chain-smoking staff member who rode the four wheeler up and down the beach on December 30. He made people feel uncomfortable. It is worth the trip going to the point of Key Biscayne to climb the lighthouse and see the magnificent views.

We were staying in Key Biscayne and while exploring ran into this park. We drove in and walked around and immediately fell in love with it. So much that we made plans to go back the next day. We were there on a weekend and although there ended up being a lot of people I would not use the word crowded at all. The beaches were very clean and we saw people walking to pick up the little bits of trash that were left from rude people. The water was nice, almost warm actually. There is a fishing part along the sea wall that has nice views. There’s a pretty lighthouse there as well. There are several hiking and nature trails. We saw raccoons in the evening trying to get the scraps left over from BBQs and we saw literally dozens of iguanas in the morning right off the beach sand. Everyone we encountered were respectful and friendly with the wildlife. This was such a beautiful park. If you can, you should make the time to go.
Also a tip for beach goers/swimmers...we found the easiest access was shelter 2, beach access 4. This had the easiest walking path as it has a bridge for the majority of the path to the sand so you don’t have to trudge through as much of the sand. This is also the path we saw the most iguanas.
The entrance fee was $8.

It is worth a walk. It is not the most dramatic sight but it is refreshing and pleasant. Worth seeing if you have time.

The park includes a long beach, a port, a park and numerous parking spaces.
Barbecue, tables and benches for meals, sanitary facilities available.
Varied wildlife to discover in the park.
Paid entry.

Lots of fun things can be done in this state park. You can rent a bicycle and ride around, you can make a picnic, or you can simply enjoy the beach and the sun. The beach has super calm waves (actually it doesn't have any waves), the water is warm, but depending on the time of year you go (around May, but I'm not so sure) the sand is full of algae, what for me is a bit irritating. They don't rent chairs, tables or umbrellas, so you should take yours if you want. There's also a nice place to have lunch which is the restaurant in the park called "Lighthouse Cafe", which has in the menu a nice whole fried fish and you can order some fried plantains with it, besides other sides of your choice. It is delicious! Just one thing that I'm not sure about, but it definitely worth checking it out, I think drinking alcohol is not allowed in the park (except for the restaurant area).

Nice park, but not very functional at the end of the afternoon. I didn't do any trails, but I went to Farol beach and took a walk around No Name Harbor, it was worth it.

We had read much about the awesome beaches, lighthouse and keepers cottage.
And was great to walk around, great trails, extensive beaches and beautiful reconstructed lighthouse with historic info.
The grounds were damaged by recent hurricane- but still nice to see.
4 instead of 5 stars because we were hoping to climb the lighthouse stairs and see the cottage. They were locked up tight. Guided tours at 10 and 1. We missed them. - but the woman at the gate entrance said our park fee included lighthouse too, but didn’t tell us about the tours. (Not even sure if yours still include going inside). Guess we didn’t do enough research. Was hoping to do a self guided tour. So, plan your trip accordingly.
Beach chairs and umbrella available for $20.
Fee-$8 per car, $2 pedestrian and bicycles.
Ample parking

We went there with family and friends. You can get there by car paying the 8usd entrance ticket per car at the end of Crandon Blvd in Key Biscayne. After a few minutes, you will arrive at main parking area. You can easily walk to the beach and lighthouse from there, the views are wonderful

At the tip of Key Biscayne. Peaceful, well maintained. Friendly staff and volunteers. Nice walking and biking trails. Designated fishing spots and designated swimming spots. We did not go in the water, so I can't speak to that. We did explore the lighthouse compound and its history, and we were able to climb the 109 steps up the restored lighthouse. There are lots of picnic tables and barbecues, many with shade. Also well supplied with water and bathrooms. Curiously, we saw quite a few raccoons out at mid-day -- perhaps a little too comfortable with people.

Ocean Drive is the Jungle and 15 mins away you can find a cheap peaceful Oasis in Key Biscayne: Bill Baggs Cape Florida Park... Only USD 8 per car and you can spend the whole day. Beaches, Restaurants, Fishing Area, Pedestrian road walks, Nature and beautiful sunsets on Biscayne Bay side. We spend more time on the beach and turned to Biscayne Bay side to see the Sunset!. Amazing!

Peaceful and quiet. Lovely lighthouse. You can rent a sun bed and an umbrella here or bring your own. We saw two manatees and a raccoon. Perfect place for families.

Two couples travelling together from the New England area. Recently spent eight days on a Florida getaway. Staying at a friend's condo in Hallandale allowed us to do several 'day trips' to explore. Key Biscayne and Bill Baggs was one of our adventures. Never really explored the Key as we ended up spending the entire day at the park.
The $8 to enter the park is well worth it, especially some Cape Cod beaches look for $20 with no where near the amenities. We entered the park and immediately went to the end. This is where the lighthouse is long with bathrooms and a restaurant. It is also where most of the people were.
There are six access points to the beach. Each with ample parking. Wanting to avoid the crowds we got back in the car and headed to the first one. Definitely far less crowded. I think we were one of maybe five vehicles in the lot. Multiple picnic sites, some in the open some under cover. Grills are available (we didn't use them). Bathhouse with showers also there.
Beach was beautiful. Water clean and warm. Some wildlife sightings on the walk to the beach (some quite large iguanas).
Our ride to the park took us a while as we were in the tail end of the Miami morning rush hour so we decided to find dinner somewhere close by to wait out the evening rush. The turn for the first beach access was directly across from a sign for the Boater's Grill (turn left for the beach and right for the restaurant) so we decided to check it out. Fabulous. Great food and great views. Right on the water. See separate review.
Definitely would return to Bill Baggs.

I stayed in Ritz Carlton, Key Biscayne. I just walked to this place through the beach and found this place was mesmerizing,Very calm and peace. With chill breeze and the sound of Atlantic waves was a great experience. I spent 2 hours peacefully here and felt rejuvenated!

We decided on a quick one day getaway, so we didn’t want to travel far. I decided to look for attractions nearby, and discovered Bill Baggs State Park 30 minutes away. This park has very nice views, a restaurant, and bicycle rentals.
Unfortunately, we didn’t not see any dolphins, but saw many tropical fish at the fishing docks.
Heads up if you plan on fishing: make sure you have a fishing license. FWC constantly rides through the park; which also provides a since of security.

Beautiful beach, playground, fishing, biking. It was clean and beautiful. Best part of our trip. Loved it! Probably shouldn't even write this review to keep it unspoiled. It wasn't crowded. Very peaceful.

We visited a few times. Great place to tour the lighthouse. Take a nice walk along some paths and right next to the ocean/bay. Saw a lot of wildlife; raccoons, lizards, iguanas, birds. Kids loved it here a lot!!!

It cost $8 to enter the park. The beach was beautiful, with the lighthouse as a backdrop.
If you walk to the lighthouse end you can see the houses on stilts in the middle of the ocean which comprise Stiltsville. Plus the light keepers house and information about the Underground Railroad. Lots of shady benches to sit on and watch the world go by.
Only negative was that the restrooms were in poor condition and needed to be cleaned.

I grew up here and the beach at Bill Baggs was quieter in the 60's however, it's beautiful white sand beach and clear blue waters remind me of the Caribbean.. just gorgeous.. I tell all my Airbnb people to go here with a lunch and enjoy the long walks and magnificence.

I wish we could spend there all day. Park is clean, lots of fresh air, you can feel a nice refreshing sea breeze filling your body. Entrance fee is $3 per car. you can also find there planty of BBQ spots, tables and benches. You can also go fishing or climb the Lighthouse.

This beach is a great find at the end of Key Biscayne. It’s in national park so there is small admission charge but well worth it.
Much more relaxed than South Beach, water lovely and warm and gentle sloping sand.
You can get loungers and lunch and see the turtle nests.

This is a fantastic state park. I wish I knew about it sooner and would have planned a longer time. The walks and bicycle rides are incredible. The light house if very accessible and the local related relics are nice to take in. The beach is beautiful. I should have shunted all the south beach time to this park and planned a bicycle ride and picnic. I will definitely come back to Miami just for this park.

Beautiful place where locals find a bit of peace without tourists around. Beach is clean. In some sections there are turtle's nests. Be careful.

It’s not a must see and it costs 8 bucks to go to the park area, but it seems like a popular beach and bike area.

This is a great spot to get away from it all when you are in Miami. Great for a cycle, walk along the harbor or to go swimming. There are walking trails and cycling paths. Also the lite house.

Great beach but you need to bring your own stuff like chairs, food, etc. I'm not even sure if there are WCs but it is very private and remote and rarely busy.

Walk along the shoreline from beyond the hotels then into the park and around Cape Florida lighthouse. Watch raccoons play, the seabirds soaring over head and the sun smiles. A great way to work off any excess of sundowners, with a sunupper.

This little State Park is a total gem... and accessible from downtown Miami by City Bus !! Easy (and safe) walking trails... a couple of great restaurants.... gorgeous beach; and FABULOUS lighthouse. Take the lighthouse tour for sure !

A visit during Memorial Day weekend might be a roulette. It was a lot of people on the beach but still OK.
Water clean and there was plenty of restrooms.

One of our favorite beaches to visit in Key Biscayne. Beautiful, warm water beach with plenty of sandy spots to relax. Lots of bbq grills, picnic tables, and great walls for fishing. The Cape Florida lighthouse is stunning, lined by palm trees, and there are numerous plaques to learn about the history of this area, including how it was a stop on the Underground Railroad! No Name Harbor is the perfect spot to tie up a boat and eat at a fantastic restaurant, and there is one other snack shop within the park as well.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park has a stretch of sand w/shallow waters for swimming. Parking is $8. per day. Beach wheelchairs for use for free. The park has shaded picnic pavillions, the beautiful Cape Florida Lighthouse, the weather is beautiful seems like 80 every day.

Beautiful park! Excellent walking and picnic areas. The beach by the Cape Florida lighthouse is beautiful. An oasis so close to Miami!

Very clean uncrowded beaches. Beautiful lighthouse that is free to climb to the top. Decent fishing if you can keep your line from getting cut on the sharp rocks down below. Nice place to have a picnic.

This state park is a hidden gem. The walking , running, biking paths are fantastic. The views from the point are great. The lighthouse was closed for renovations, but looked uninspiring and kinda plain, nothing like the lighthouses in the Northeast.

This is a very popular park that apparently not many tourist get to see and enjoy (from my experience), If you want to enjoy clear and calm waters without the maddening crowds of Miami Beach, that head over to this hidden and yet not so hidden treasure of a Florida state park. Good for families and everyone looking to soak up the sun and fun in south Florida. There's a small entrance fee, which is well worth it since they keep the park clean and safe. There are tours of the lighthouse located at the end of the main beach and nature trails where you can see different bird species , specially seasonal ones and the occasional raccoon. There's is also a restaurant, which is reasonably price for a park and areas for picnics and grilling as in any other park. So if you're a first time visitor to south FL or a resident unaware this even exist, then pack you sandals and sunscreen and hit the beach and have some fun in the Florida sun.

It is a very quiet place, there is a lot of vegetation, the beaches are very clean, there is a restaurant, it doesn't look that good, but it serves to meet some needs. The public bathrooms are clean although they need some maintenance.

Beautiful beach next to the light house. We really enjoyed our time here biking along the trail. We wanted to see the sunset, but It was really cold so we didn’t stay. We will be back again soon.

I always like to go away to a place and can breathe fresh air and relax to sound of water and birds and for us that like to ride bicycles is heaven on earth

I walked on this beach several times during my visit to Key Biscayne. It is a very relaxing beach, with families and friends scattered about, listening to music and playing beach games. The only downside is that there were jelly fish that were washed up along the shore. You really had to watch out for their long stinging tentacles!

I loved this place! The water was super clear and calm. My kids were able to enjoy the water and swim! There were no rocks and sand was super clean. We were able to rent an umbrella and three chairs for $25. There is an entry fee - $8 so worth it! I didn't get a chance to up the lighthouse my kids were having too much fun building castles.

beautiful beaches, plenty of parking. weather was windy, so the water wasn't safe to swim in. Lighthouse was closed, but still a photo op.

If you want a beautiful and not so crowded beach, it's THE place to be.
For a fee of 8$ per car, you enter the park to get a lighthouse and a beautiful beach.
The sunset, hovering houses and the view of the Miami Skyline are amazing, and with some luck, there will be some Manatees, Dolphins, Sharks and Rays.

Since I was staying on Key Biscayne, my friend lent me her bicycle and off I went. I ended up in Bill Bagg’s park. The bicycle paths are mostly paved but some sections, like in the mangroves in the north-west section, are not. In general, especially at this time of the year and on a weekday, I was pretty much by myself. I took time to take pictures of birds, raccoons, wild flowers and sea shells. I stopped for lunch at the Lighthouse Restaurant where I had a nice filet of fish (succulent, I thought the cook was from Mexico but turns out he is from the Dominican Republic). Although it says they have Wifi, it didn’t work and the waitress even made me feel like I annoyed her with that problem. A few days later, I went back to the park and had a shrimp ceviche at the Boater’s Grill. Generous in shrimps, it lacked a bit of fantasy as it was only made of shrimps, onions, coriander and lime juice. You can also bring your lunch and eat it anywhere in the park, which I did on my third visit, as long as you don’t feed the fauna. The beach is another nice spot but algae and man of war jelly fish were present on that windy day. All in all, this park is a quiet place to relax and breathe deeply, a rare treat in this fast-pace world!

Great place to bike. We rented bikes at the hotel and biked 3 miles to the lighthouse and back. Beautiful natural state park with wonderful bike trail.

While in Homestead, Florida exploring Biscayne National Park, traveling companions and I spent an afternoon in Bull Baggs State Park. The beautiful beach is made even more gorgeous by a spectacular lighthouse and buildings such as a lighthouse keeper’s house. The parking area is ample, well maintained and located relatively close to the beach! One cautionary note.... numerous, habituated raccoons populate the area and have no problem with approaching park goers. Be careful.

Great views, beach, old lighthouse, food, bikes, hikes and excellent spot to see Stiltsville. Well worth the $8 fee

This is an amazing park. Great hiking/biking trails, fantastic picnic areas, lots of parking and an amazing beach. Also the lighthouse is a nice visit as well. And don't forget to go to the Cleat for the best sunsets on the island or the Boater's Grill for an excellent dinner. I have seen dolphins swimming in No Name Harbor. There is also lots of fishing going on.

This is a beautiful state park with a nice beach and pretty trails going around the park. There were lots of lizards and some raccoons.

We were impressed with the beach area. Water was mostly clear and calm. It was about $30 to rent lounge chairs and umbrella and it cost us $8 to enter this state park.

This is a no thrills no frills beach area situated in a State park. The beach is long and picturesque and it has a feeling of bygone times. Teaming with wild iguanas and with a picture lighthouse

Pleasant beach to swim at. We went early, so it wasn't busy until in the afternoon & that was on a sunday.

Just a short 20 minute drive south of Miami brings you to Key Biscayne and its wonderful beach parks. We decided to spend a day at the Bill Baggs Beach Park, which comes with an $8 entrance fee which includes parking. We wanted a quiet, secluded stretch of beach and the park entry guard recommended parking in Lot 1, away from the busier Lots 2 and 3, which are closer to the lighthouse and boardwalk. The huge parking lot 1 was empty around 11am on a weekday, allowing us to find a parking spot shaded by a tree. There were picnic and grill facilities on a grassy lawn between the parking lot and the brush leading to the beach. There were also shower and bathroom facilities. The boardwalk leading to the beach was installed above the mangroves and it allows for a short scenic walk to the beach. The beach is not too wide and is a nice white, sugar-fine powder. Sea weed grows just off shore and washes up on the beach, where it dries out. It's best not to disturb the drying seaweed as there many insects beneath it. There were no trees for shade so make sure to bring your chairs and sun cover, as there are no facilities on the actual beach. The water here is calm an fresh, making for delightful swimming. We loved our time here and around 4:30pm, we decided to drive over to parking lot 3, to take a stroll and watch the sunset. There's a great coastal walkway here to the lighthouse, popular with the locals just before sunset. The sunset over the water here is gorgeous and the park closes shortly after the sun sets.

We were staying in South Breach and took the opportunity to do some exploring and drive to Key Biscayne. The park is very easy to find, just stay on the road from Miami until you arrive at the gates to the park. Park admission is $8.00 per car with up to 4 people. There are a lot of trails to explore and hike, but they are not marked very well. We parked near the lighthouse and then walked to No Name Harbour, looping back along the water. Total time 1hour walking, flat and relatively easy. If you are hungry the restaurant (Boaters Grill) in No Name Harbour is fantastic.

The water's warm and clear. The sand is hard but clean. Although the beach here has less seaweed than some places, the brown vegetation still litters the shore. There are picnic shelters and changing/bathroom areas. If you want to be closer to the lighthouse, then keep driving after you reach the initial parking area. This is a calm area. The park closes at dusk, so plan accordingly. You have to pay to enter the area ($8 per car, at the time of this writing).

Nice beach and facilities, small restaurant, shaded grill and picnic areas. It's a very scenic location with a cool lighthouse, a nice change of pace from South Beach. The lighthouse is open for climbing Thurs-Mon from 10-11am and 1-2pm. $4 for one person or $8 per vehicle with two or more people.

This is a very nice and clean public beach and park. There are nice huts with BBQ pits for grilling. beaches are clean and you can rent a nice lounge chair for a few dollars. There are also rental bikes and tricycles for $10-20. The light house is a museum and you can walk up and visit.

The beach is a short walk from the parking lot through dunes covered with sea grapes. The sandy area is a thin strip between the dunes and the ocean. The water is crystal clear and warm with minimal waves. We saw lots of wildlife including sea turtle nesting areas, birds, hermit crabs, small rays and raccoons. I would highly recommend this beach for families.

Lovely place to picnic, ride bicycle, go fishing. Nice beach. A nice place for families and locals.
You can visit the lighthouse and the house of the keeper.
There are several trails for riding mountain bike. Follow the Natural trail sign. There are nice for a beginner.

Our family spent a day here after dropping our son off at U Miami. Located at the far end of Key Biscayne, we paid $8 to park. On our visit, the water was crystal clear and warm, yet still refreshing enough. The beach was very clean and it wasn’t crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. We parked at beach access 5, and there was about a 5-minute walk to the sand; from there, it’s a short walk to the light house. There was a strong current and the waves were small and gentle. We liked the packed sand, which made for easy walking. The strong breeze kept us from melting in the 95 degree heat. Upon arrival, you can opt to rent chairs and umbrellas (2 chairs, 1 umbrella- $30 for the day). You just take a seat and someone comes by to collect payment. There’s a good view of the Miami skyline. We’d return and recommend.

Great uncrowded state park. There are some great trails for walking. There is a very island-like restaurant there which really gives you a feeling of being in the islands. There is also a more casual food truck there as well. I see people like to fish there. This is one of the only places in southeast Florida you can get a great sunset photo.

Nice spot to walk around. Marinas & boats. Paths through small wooded areas with the occasional iguana peaking out. Pretty good birding. Bikes for rent. Kayaks and paddle boards for rent.

We arrived late but had a quick walk from the nearest car park and had a great view. Lovely place and would love to go again

We visited this state park on the recommendation of friends. Very clean with volunteers doing trash pickup, interesting light house, snack bar, bathrooms and lots of covered picnic tables. Calm water good for kids to play! Will definitely come back.

This park is amzaing. The lighthouse is beautiful. The beach is wonderful. The sunsets are lovely. There is a beach side restaurant that had excellent service and the food was ok. If staying in Miami this is a good family side trip. The traffic through Key Biscayne is not great but worth it to see the park. Be careful and do not feed the raccoons. Also, be careful that the raccoons don't jump in your dinner, we ordered at the outdoor restaurant and had an unexpected guest for dinner, Ms.Raccoon jumped on the table and stole our lobster. I wouldn't suggest the lobster anyway it was too dry.

Tons of parking, grassy places to grill, bathrooms, trails, beach... and the water was calm and great for small children! Not deep and nice and sandy!!

Lovely place to go for a walk, get disconnected and have quality time for myself.
Has good spots for lunch and for picnics. Beaches are beautiful too.

Get early there enjoy sun, beach and swimming. For $8 per car and $2 if come there with Uber. Restaurant and shower. Nice place for kids to enjoy the weekend I really recommend it for everyone. You can swimming and fish 🎣 I like the Lime bike 🚲 around I tried a bike for free first ride. I enjoyed my day.

On a quiet Monday in February there was no kayaking or snorkeling roller blades available like we had read from guidebooks. Park is very beautiful, and worth the visit anyway

The scenery is the attraction for me. You'll see the gorgeous lighthouse, and lots of natural beauty. Regrettably for us, we also saw medical waste that had washed up on the beach. For us it was a nice opportunity for photos ...

I visited early AM weekday & weekend, beaches empty. I expect beaches get crowded during the weekend & later in the day. Within easy reach of downtown Miami. Large urban park. Harbor for boats; fishing; bike paths. Bike rentals. Lovely to be in nature after the traffic congestion of downtown Miami.

We stayed in Key Biscayne for 5 days and was a little disappointed how much seaweed was on the Atlantic side beaches. Although there is still some seaweed on the beaches here, it was not near as bad and ended up having a lovely day here. No concessions so bring your stuff (you can rent 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella for $20.00)

Very scenic park, has walking trails, covered/shaded areas lots of benches if you get tired of walking. Great place to ride a bike. Got kids? Bring the family. Check out the lighthouse.

This was our first time here, I have lived in Miami for 7 years and Lynne even longer than me and, neither of us ever went to Key Biscayne before, it is really lovely, the lighthouse is really pretty, it is located inside the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, there are a few walking paths or you can rent bikes, there is the beach, it has a totally different vibe from Miami yet, you are 10 minutes from the city, we will definitely be back again ❤️
The only thing I would improve is the closing time at the lighthouse area, as the park is open till later that area should be too and not close at 4 pm, way too early.

As part of a day-long road trip, we (married couple) took a trip to Key Biscayne. It's stunning; somehow, it feels a couple of degrees warmer than the already hot Miami. It's beaches are almost perfectly white, but don't try walking on them barefoot at midday, you WILL get burned! A beautiful lighthouse overlooks the point, there are a couple of eateries, it costs $8 per car but then no charge for parking.
Go here for a taste of the Keys, spectacular views, and something just a little bit different from your 'normal' Miami attractions.

We came by boat. Anchoerd in No Name Harbor. They charge $20.00 per day to anchor. They have showers and a washer and dryer for $1.75/ load / machine. A short walk from the dinghy parking and you are out of the park. There is a bus stop and if you download the Freebee app, you can order a free ride anywhere in town. There is a CVS very close and a Winn Dixie The Enterprise rental car office is also close,. You can reserve a car for about $15.00/day and go to Miami. Haven't tried the restaurant yet. We are waiting for a good weather window to cross to Bimini.
There is a light house here ( we plan on visiting)

This park is fifteen minutes from downtown Miami. It has a great beach as well as biking, hiking, picnicking and rentals for whatever outdoor activity a person chooses to do, including bicycles, kayaks, beach chairs and umbrellas. However, no camping allowed.

It's perfect to hike and enjoy the nice weather while seeing wildlife.
If you want to relax, the long beach is perfect and not so crowded.

I have anchored out in No Name Harbor a few times. I finally got around to hiking most of the park. A great location with bicycle rental, a nice beach and a cool lighthouse.

A must do if you visit Miami. We visited here in March and the weather was glorious. Th Park was deserted with only a few people around in the morning and a few more in the afternoon.
Everything about the park is lovely. From the beaches, the sea, views, swimming, activities and restaurants. You can come by, bike, car or bus and there are Lime rental bikes all over Key Biscayne.
Seeing the wildlife was also a bonus. We saw raccoons, dragon flies, butterflies, lizards and different fish close to the beach.

An Uber dropped us in the wrong location for the Lighthouse and cafe - Art the Head Ranger kindly came to our aid and gave us a lift in his buggy. On the way, Art told us the history and sight best bits to visit. The lighthouse is well-worth climbing - the view of Miami city one way and the ocean the other is amazing. The park staff we met where welcoming and understandably very proud of the lovely park. Bill Baggs park is only 20 minutes from Miami city and it seems a world a way. The beach is stunning. Thank you for a lovely day we spent wandering around the park.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne is a beautiful and well maintained park with beach access and many trails and features. I really like the beaches here and the water and it makes a really good day at the beach and fun experience. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here.

We went on a Sunday afternoon which was extremely busy. I would suggest a weekday for less crowds. But the beaches, water and views are beautiful. There were a lot of folks having picnics and fishing.

Snorkeling was epic near the lighthouse. Got to see a big manatee come by. If you swim out north of the lighthouse you can see big grass patches that will attract the manatee. Water cleared up the further out I went. There was a decent side shore current which I used to drift snorkel.
If you head south of the lighthouse there is rip rap rocks near the sea wall. Lots of fish here, and very clear. Saw a spotted eagle ray, parrot fish, and a juvenile nurse shark.
Definitely will be making a return trip here.

Great day at Bill Baggs! Lunch at Boaters Grill (pricey but nice view.) walked the trails north of the Grill-lovely!! Visited the lighthouse. Did not go up-looked like it was closed. Took some great pictures. Walked along the beach and got a kick out of all the raccoons in the parking lot looking for a “handout.” It cost $8 to get in the park and worth it.

I had high hopes for Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, but unfortunately, my experience there was incredibly disappointing. I came looking for a peaceful day outdoors and maybe a bit of history, but left feeling like I completely wasted my time.
To begin with, the lighthouse — which is supposed to be one of the park’s main attractions — was closed, with no clear signage or updates about when it would be open again. That was a huge letdown since it was one of the only reasons I came in the first place. With the lighthouse out of the picture, we figured we’d make the most of it and spend time at the beach instead. Big mistake.
The beach was in awful condition. It was absolutely covered in seaweed, all along the shoreline and even in the shallow water, making it really unpleasant to swim or even walk along the edge. The smell wasn’t great either, and it didn’t seem like anyone had made an effort to clean or maintain the area.
On top of that, the atmosphere just wasn’t comfortable. Let’s just say the vibe wasn’t what I was expecting or looking for — it felt more like a scene for certain social groups than a relaxing public beach for everyone. It was loud, chaotic, and not exactly family-friendly in terms of how people were behaving or dressed. Definitely not what I had in mind when I planned a quiet, scenic beach day.
Overall, I left frustrated and disappointed. Between the closed lighthouse, the unclean beach, and the unpleasant overall vibe, I just can’t recommend this park — at least not based on my experience. Maybe it was just a bad day, but with so many other parks and beaches in Florida, I’d suggest going literally anywhere else.

Anyone who has been to Mar del Plata and knows what Bristol is will know what I'm talking about. Flat and quite dirty anthill-style beach of people eating and getting dirty with speakers blaring one over the other. If you are looking for beautiful scenery and tranquility, this is not the place.

On a midweek day we spend the day @BBP. Right next to the lighthouse.
The beach was quiet and the few who were there were relaxed. We can imagine that the weekend is loaded as most of the beaches in Florida during the weekend.
The one thing we noticed was the huge amound of plastic in the sand en floating in the water.
If you go with kids or you are a bad swimmer, WATCH OUT!!! The current is the biggest I have ever felt.
Enjoy!!
Oh and take some cash for entrance and an umbrella/bed.

Beautiful sea even if windy. Lots of people but possibility of renting umbrellas and deckchairs. Entrance to the park 8 dollarsj....

Beautiful, have been there by boat several times, anchored in No Name harbor. There are two restaurants, but I recommend that you bring your own food.
Best if you can avoid The weekends.

Beautiful park, very clean and when I went it was actually quiet too! The scenery is beautiful and it’s a really nice place to just walk around and enjoy 😊 Lots of small wild animals to see! There are public restrooms in the area as well.

We spent a lovely Sunday afternoon exploring this area and absorbing as much as we could about the lighthouse and the surrounding areas. This area is extremely beautiful and if you love history and geography like us, you will definitely enjoy.

My son and I had about 5 hours to kill in Miami before doing the Thriller Speed boat that evening. We chose Bill Baggs Cape to spend the day. WOW, what a relaxing time. We probably spent close to 4 hours in the ocean. Even had a sting ray come in for a visit. We did not go close to the Lighthouse as it was super crowded - we did not feel left out though because the guys renting chairs and umbrellas were johnny on the spot! We did venture toward the Lighthouse area though when we left as that is where the outdoor showers and bathrooms were. We took a shower and washed our hair so that we didn't look like we had spent the day in the sun so that we could eat and do the Thriller boat later. The biggest negative is that we hit the shower about the same time as a ton of school kids were also getting a shower to head back to school. If in Miami area again, I will definitely go back to this Park.

It's actually just another beach, though there's a lighthouse that you can take a picture of and the water is a bit cleaner than the ones you have in Miami beach. There is actually less people here as well, since there is an entrance fee as opposed to Miami beach. The drive towards this place was beautiful though as you'll cross a long bridge towards this island. Great to experience at least once

Love love love this beach! It is large, offering a great deal of area to walk, find a quiet spot to enjoy the views, or in other areas people watch

We visited the park whilst on a short stopover In Miami. It was a breeze getting to the park from the hotel we were staying at adjacent to the airport. Firstly Metrorail to Brickell and then a bus from a stop adjacent to the station.
Being the weekend it was great to see the park being so well utilised by people of all ages taking park in various activities.
We enjoyed a leisurely stroll around te perimeter of the park and took advantage of one of the designated areas to enjoy our picnic

Beautiful beach, clean, showers and tons of raccoons to share it with! Also, they do not have a strong police presence like lots of the beaches in Miami, yet the beach is more beautiful!

We went to the park on a beautiful sunny day. We found a picnic table with a great view of the water and sat and had lunch. We walked around the beach area and enjoyed watching some people kite surfing out in the water. It’s a nice place to swim and enjoy the day.

After our adventures of snorkeling at Biscayne National Park, Caption Marco suggested we venture out here for a swim on the beach, dinner and watching the sunset. We got there too late to tour the light house, which was the oldest structure in Dade County. This was located at the southern tip of Key Biscayne. But we did swim in the beach for a while and then headed out for dinner at Boater Grill. Which was GREAT and well suggested. Unfortunately, it was cloudy that night and not much of a sunset. But still a GREAT experience.

We attended a picnic at Bill Baggs with the whole family following a wedding rehearsal, and everyone had a super time. The lighthouse tour is very interesting, and the walks available are beautiful. Enjoyed every minute. Great getaway, especially for New Englanders in January, but everyone from the south had an amazing time, too.

We really enjoy the paths to walk and to bike into the park, the promenade next to the sea and the sunset in no name harbour, very good experience

On June 11th in between hotel check ins we went to the park, we have been here before. We parked in a well seen busy lot by the restaurant. We were gone from our car for less than 30 minutes. Someone watched as we put our valuable belongings in the trunk. I know I locked the car and believe a code grabber was used. We didn’t notice right away but when we got to our hotel all of our cash was missing and my expensive canon camera and lenses. They left iPad and phones- assuming anything they felt could be tracked or had gps was left. I’m beyond disgusted that a park with rangers patrolling doesn’t patrol better. when I contacted the office they didn’t even apologize, didn’t give any direction and said contact the police- which we did but didn’t even offer which department to Contact. No help by office and obviously park is consumed with low life scum who can’t get a job and buy their own belongings. Will never go back!!!

This will be one of the best beaches (If not the best) you'll find near Miami. If a relax time, combined with walking/biking and some family time its what you are looking for... This place it's a must if you are close to Miami Metro Area. It's like a little escape. On your way back to the city, the view of Miami skyline is something worth to slow down.

Very nice beach. Clean, showers, bathrooms, and a restaurant. There is places to grill also. The beach had a nice breeze on a very hot day it was enjoyable.

A nice relief from the busy beaches of South Miami. Beautiful! Fishing, hiking, and other ways to get outdoors. The lighthouse was a fun thing to learn about and see. Tours up the lighthouse happen at 11am and 1:00pm.

Spent the afternoon walking on the trail, both by the sea shore and in the shade of the canopy. Beaches were nice but no shade other than rental umbrellas. Went swimming but so windy today we didn't stay on the beach but went walking instead. Very clean and ample bathrooms and picnic areas.

Drove here for an afternoon when I was in Miami on business. There is a fee to enter the park, but it wasn't exorbitant. There is ample parking and it is very close to the beach. The beach was very clean and the water was gorgeous. Although it was a bit crowded, I was able to find a nice spot on the beach where I could enjoy the sand, sun and surf. I would definitely come here again!

This is a beautifully maintained park, much if it left natural. The beach is very nice for bathers. There are a couple of places to eat. There are also very nice picnic areas. Overall, a nice place for a day trip.

The park is in a beautiful setting which allows you to enjoy the beach on ocean side and the seawall on the bay side.
Great trails for running, beach seating, picnic tables, bbq, etc.
Recommended for family outing and visit to old light house.
Beautiful sunsets during winter time.

My favorite beach in the Miami area. Family friendly. This is not a tourist trap. There are places to BBQ. It's very crowded on holidays like the 4th of July and Memorial day. There is also a tour of the lighthouse/underground rail road restorations however whether the tour guide shows up that day is unpredictable. The self guided tour is enjoyable. We were able to relax on the beach and we also learned a lot. For example: Raccoons can open a box of Cheezits.

I went on foot there on a whim and I'm glad I made that choice.
That piece of land is calm and beautiful. You can walk from the entrance to the lighthouse in about an hour by foot but be wary of your stamina

Got my boys in the ocean! The beach did have some waste plastics, wear shoes. Bathroom did not have water. No birds on the bird trail, would be better with at least signs for what to watch for.

Nice park. Lighthouse closes at 4. We were disappointed to just miss the lighthouse. Tours are at 10 and 1 I believe. You can see stilt houses from shore. There are bike paths through the park.

Highly recommend this park and the beaches here over any other in Key Biscayne. It's perfect for families with small children as well as for couples looking to have a stroll along the beach. This place is typical Florida in it's natural glory. It's simple, clean and quiet. It's not luxuries but it's very simple and accessible. For $28 you can have a perfect day at the beach without having to drag your own chairs and umbrellas and then struggle to dig them in the sand. It costs $8 to enter the park and beaches (re-entry all day) and then $20 to rent and set of 2 chairs and 1 umbrella that the staff will set up for you. Not far from the light house there is a cafe overlooking the beach, so you can come swim, go eat and go back to the sand. Perfect! Sand is clean, water is clean, there is occasional sea weed but never in the quantity as other beaches on Key Biscayne. This is the cleanest area probably because the right at the end and the currents always keep it free of debris. The water is clean, warm and shallow for a long bit so kids can play and you can walk in the water along the beach or just float in warm water. Or you can go further in for a cooler water that's a bit deeper. My favorite beach in Miami area!

Very nice beach and great for those that do not like waves. water was cooler than Miami beach, which was great on a hot sunny day.

Historical and beautiful area of Key Biscayne. To enter the park, the cost is $8. Whether you're looking to lay on the beach, explore the lighthouse or walk around, it's an escape from the chaos of Miami. On a Saturday, there was plenty of parking. Tours are offered of the lighthouse. Check for days and times online. You're able to climb to the top if you don't take a tour. Great view of Stiltsville from the most southern edge of the park. If you're a cyclist, you'll definitely love the biking around Key Biscayne. Be aware of carrying food with you. There were two racoons who were following some people because they kept feeding them.

This park is at the southern most part of Key Biscayne. It has bike rentals, nice public bathrooms, park picnic tables, fishing and a beach! It’s a bit farther to drive, and worth it!

Warm clear water. Nature abounds. We saw iguanas and raccoons. Tons of families. Feels like you're in the Caribbean. Water is mild with small lapping waves. Very beautiful beach.

had a great time with my kids. go in the morning around 09h00 am relaxa at the beach pay 20$ for sunbeds and umbrella and relax until lunch time. after lunch time gets to many people. visit the lighthouse, last visit is at 13h00. a must to get away fro other beach sites. and what a unforgettable view from up the lighthouse!

$8 get you access to this stunning waterfront state park that boasts gorgeous sandy beaches away from the crowds. Very much enjoyed the lighthouse and all the history of the area that was related. Lizards everywhere among the paths - quite interesting to see how fast they can move!
The beach was the highlight to bask and relax in the sun. Umbrellas and beach chairs for rent.
Highly recommend a visit to this park during a trip to Miami or Miami Beach!

A family visit to bask in the Florida sun and we were not disappointed.
Greeted by lizards, squirrels and raccoons we first stopped at the children’s playground.
The beach is amazingly beautiful with the centerpiece being the lighthouse that was built by Jebadiah Biscayne.

As you drive the parkway you have several beaches to choose. There’s ample parking, nice beaches with exception of seaweed raked but not cleared away, and restrooms with outdoor showers. Plenty of shaded areas or pavilions with bbq grills. Great getaway for families. Aside from not clearing the washed up seaweed my only recommendation would be for the parks to add additional women’s or family facilities. We were ther in off season but it was a nice day and women were in a long line with their children to use restrooms. I’d recommend they convert large open changing room to bathroom stalls. Otherwise perfect place to enjoy under the palm trees 🌴

So if you take a taxi or Uber to the park the park will charge you the pedestrian fee, which is $2 per person. The driver is allowed to take you to any park of the park and drop you off. The problem is using your phone to have Uber pick you up as there is no wifi service and the phone connection is poor, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile. So what we did was hitch a ride with some nice people to outside the gate near the commercial area bus stops and then we were able to call Uber.
Park was very nice, clean, not packed. Nice option of Adirondack chairs or lounge chairs for rent along with umbrellas. View from the lighthouse is very nice, 109 steps. Actually really good food at the café, they were packed at lunch, beer and wine available for purchase.

It cost $8 to enter the park. The beach was beautiful, with the lighthouse as a backdrop. We didn’t go in the sea as there were man o war jellyfish washed up on the shore.
If you walk to the lighthouse end you can see the houses on stilts in the middle of the ocean which comprise Stiltsville. Also keep your eye out for raccoons as we saw plenty, but please don’t feed them.

The Bill Baggs state park at the very end of Crandon Dr. in Key Biscayne is a world apart from even the quite bustle of the rest of the island (key) with well preserved beaches and pathways open to all nature lovers.

Although we went on a bit of a chilly day, we had a wonderful experience in Bill Baggs! We took the B route from Brickell on the bus and were dropped off at the stop right in front of the park in Key Biscayne after ~20mins! After a short walk into the park, you pay $2/person and continue towards the lighthouse and beach. We set up camp on the beach close to the water and it was very quiet and relaxing by the time we got there (~12:30pm). There are also bathrooms and showers right next to the beach (just wish the changing area in the bathroom was a bit more private).
We left our stuff and walked around a bit, down towards the lighthouse. They let 8-10 people up at once, but the line went quickly. It was a beautiful view from the top-- you can see the city and the beach. One thing to note is that it is quite high and there is little space between the railing and the lighthouse itself on the lookout, so if you are very afraid of heights or get bad vertigo, this might not be for you.
We didn't eat at the lighthouse cafe, but it looked like it had delicious, fresh and cheap seafood! There are also different types of bikes to rent, local trails, and an ice cream truck!

No crowd. We were the 4th car into the state park due to the not ideal weather conditions. First time here from Naples and on my birthday, so we made the must of it. Unfortunately, there were no lighthouse tours; canceled due to lightening and wind. Even so, the lighthouse stood beautifully at the end of the palmed path leading up to it. Definitely will return.

Considering the fact there is a lighthouse here adds to the things to do at this beach. We were at the portion of the beach where there was sea grass that kept the kids in the shallow part of the water so was a win win situation for us as parents. Overall a very decent beach experience.

Beatiful waters and excellent view from the lighthouse. The park has excellent areas fro BBQ and fishing. Theres a nice cafe by the marina.

Went at the behest of out-of-town guests. Never again. Worse than Crandon Park and more costly to visit. That I witnessed a beach beer fight is enough evidence to support this contention: people were angrily tossing filled cups of beer at one another, over (my best guess here) an argument concerning the ground rules for a frisbee game. Why anyone visits Key Biscayne of their own volition is beyond me.

Spent a great day with the family at this state park. Climbed all the way up to the top of the lighthouse. The kids loved it. I especially loved spanning the crystal blue waters of the bay all the way over to Stiltsville. The water was so clear that we could see stingrays in the water. So cool.

This is a lovely state park which has a very nice beach with all of the amenities. It also has some trails and a lighthouse you can climb to the top of. We saw lots of wildlife here such as ibis and raccoons. There is also a cottage you can visit and learn more about the history of the lighthouse. A very nice afternoon.

We visited the park to primarily visit the lighthouse and were impressed with everything that we saw. Reasonable entry fees, ample parking, beautiful beaches, lovely trails along the shore. Beautiful spot.

Traffic getting there is the only bad part of this day trip. The park is great, clean, well managed. There are chairs and bikes to rent. Nice Sandy Beach. Bring stuff to grill for lunch. Only $8 for carload. There are 2 restaurants. I think we finally found a spot in Florida we would consider "snowbirding" to.

Very nice park in Key Biscayne. Many attractions like fishing, bicycle riding, restaurant, marina, among others. One of the greatest National Parks in the area of Key Biscayne. Very nice scenic views. Recommended.

Very cool place to go to spend the day on the beach. At Bill Baggs park there is an entry fee of 8 dollars per car and there are plenty of places to park your car. Very good beach close to Cape Florida Lighthouse, very calm waters.

Definitely climb the lighthouse. The beach we checked out first, which was farther from the lighthouse was amazing, and not as busy! It seemed the beaches closer to the lighthouse were busier. Kids loved all the lizards running around. The water was so calm at the beach. There was plenty of parking in the different spots once you entered the park. You could rent bikes and take a tour but we didn't have time. It seems you must take a toll road to get to this location, but could be wrong...those toll roads snuck up on me every time!!

Great views and a little piece of history and the lighthouse make for a nice little place to visit while staying on Key Biscayne

A great walk, beautiful ocean, fantastic breeze. The lighthouse was a pleasure to see though it was closed. We hiked for several hours on the back paths. I enjoyed the more private areas further on. I was a bit turned off by the excess of roudy or loud people near the entrance with a lot of people fishing. Cool experience at the boat dock. There's a restaurant and bar to rest your legs and wet your throat that I could tell a lot of people were enjoying. I would go again.

We spent a fun few hours here before a late flight back home. The lighthouse itself is impressive, and the Lighthouse Cafe is a good stop for lunch. Look out for the raccoons everywhere in the car park ! One small negative is the mosquitos which are prevalent. Insect repellant is definitely required.

I recommend this park to visit. It is beautiful place, amazing place to enjoy picnic, beach, family gatherings, fishing and explore Florida history. Lot to do in this park.

It is always nice to visit this park while visiting the Miami area. Walk, bike and ride your car. Stop along the way for the views culminating with the lighthouse. Definitely a must see.

A great place to visit, a couple of good restaurant/bars and beaches, walks, lighthouse and a bit of history. As a National Park there is a small entry fee but loads of parking and a really relaxing day out.

We went on a Thursday and it was not crowded. It was a perfect sunny day. The water was clear and a bit cool but was refreshing. There were no waves but the current was flowing calmly towards the shore. If you prefer quiet and less crowding go here instead of South Beach.

We only got to spend a couple of hours at the park but were pleasantly surprised. The snack bar had nice little snacks and beer and wine. Heading to the beach right by the snackbar we found lots of families, lots of music and a limited amount of seaweed, depending on which way the tide was going. The view of the light house was gorgeous from this beach and some of us enjoyed a pleasant swim. There are chaises and umbrellas available for rent at this beach.
Returning to the parking lot we headed towards the end of the parking lot and got awesome sunset pictures before the park closed.

Wow!! The beautiful beach and lighthouse are amazing to look at. We went in March, so the water was still too cold to swim (at least for me) but just being there was like a dream. The color of the water was gorgeous. I enjoyed every second there. We walked around a bit and ended up having lunch at Boater’s Grill, with an amazing view. I have to come back soon, I absolutely fell in love with this place. We didn’t do the trails, as I was only interested in the beach and lighthouse, but I did see people renting bicycles and riding around. I will definitely do that next time. I highly recommend this state park.

This beach was quiet and quiet lovely. The lighthouse is right on the beach and is a gorgeous spot to take pictures. We went on a cloudyish day, so there were few people on the beach. The water was warm and more peaceful than the water in south beach. Parking there is $8. We wanted to go into the lighthouse, but it has a very, very short opening time. Definitely check ahead of time if you want to go into the lighthouse.

Having spent over 5 hours in tedious traffic getting from & to the Keys (and only getting as far as Indian Key!) from South Beach the day before, this short 30 min drive was an absolute pleasure.
And what a treat this Park is. Beautiful views, great walks, a nice beach and a lighthouse - along with its interesting history well told.
We arrived about 10.30 and it was so quiet I thought it was closed. Really peaceful throughout - even when people did start to arrive.
We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent here and would say it is definitely worth a trip from Miami or Miami Beach if you fancy a change of scene.
There are a couple of places to eat in the park but didn’t try either (but did eat in the terrific Secreto Gourmet cafe just outside the park on the way home).

This is a small park. It is a GREAT place to walk around. There is shaded area if that is what you want - that allow you to watch the ocean. There are trails to follow and some bike paths as well. Benches are set along the trails.
There are activities - so be sure and check for them. There was a nature walk when i was there.
We brought our own lunch and sat at a picnic table watching the ocean while enjoying our meal ( and watched people fishing).
We made the climb up the lighthouse for awesome views.
The beach in the park is located on one side - the other side of the park has no beaches. It is a breakwater.
In the past we have seen lots of raccoons - none this time. It is also part of the birding trail of Fla, but I have not really seen may birds in there when I have gone.
It is a great place to watch the sun set. You have to be out shortly after the sun sets and the time is posted when you pay to get in. It costs $6-8 to get in ( I cannot remember which). It is an easy place to spend a morning, afternoon or evening. I prefer going when there are fewer people.

Rode a rental bike from Miami to the State Park for a short visit. After a bite to eat at the Boaters Grill restaurant within the park I travelled along the bay and chatted with some people fishing. Was interesting to see the Pier Houses out in the bay. As well, got to see a movie or tv show being filmed and the Goodyear Blimp fly over. On to the lighthouse for a wonderful view of the area. There was a lovely beach there too. Would have loved to stay longer but had to leave time for my return cycle back to the city.

Was visiting Key Biscayne, & rode down to the restaurant at sunset & went for a walk & was treated to a beautiful sunset

Chose to get away from the hazzle of Miami in this park. Easily accessible by car, about half an hour from South Beach.
Entrance was 8$ per car.
Spent the day sunbathing and enjoying a good lunch.
Nice place to relax, have a picnic or barbeque or swim and enjoy the sun.

$8.00 dollars per car. This is a nice park, nice beach and a picturesque lighthouse. It had a cafe with outside seating and $28.00 dinners.
The drive here from Key Largo was like a NASCAR race from the Airport to the downtown. The Miami drivers were rude, crazy, passing on the right and left, driving 10-15 miles over the speed limit just gets in their way. I was glad to get away from Miami alive!!!
Nice park, bad location!!!

We had high expectations and chose this to be the only beach we go to during our stay in Miami. It's far from the image we had of a Miami beach (golden sandy wide endless beaches... this really isn't one). We chose this after reading good reviews (including it rated as "one of the US top 10 beaches") - we've seen a good deal of beaches, mostly outside the US, and this definitely wasn't at our top 10 list.... It's a white-sand beach, not to wide sand strip before the greenery starts. IT's pretty nice and picturesque, lots of dead sea-weed on the beach, pricey chairs and shades (I think they were 10$ a piece of 20$ for a chair-shade combo). We were there early October, the water was cold, powerful currents so you can't really swim, it was windy so staying on the beach wasn't that nice, the sea-weed and type of sand made it difficult for my kids to play in the sand (e.g. build castles etc.). We also had a picnic in one of th epicnic areas, which was nice till the raccoons got there and really didn't let us eat. And to top that, there were mosquitoes in abundance at the picnic area.

Beautiful day visiting the lighthouse. Nice beach area. We arrived too late to walk lighthouse park but it’s easy to see from both sides.

Not the cheapest of parks to get after paying the toll to get across the Rickenbacker Causeway & then the $8 entrance fee, but actually well worth it. The lighthouse is free (after the entrance fee) and is to me the main feature. The views from atop are fantastic, you can see downtown Miami very clearly!
There are good trails for biking or walking & plenty of picnic benches for lunch, and generally chilling out. A walk around the grounds will see the raccoons coming over to investigate you!
I don't know if due to time of the year (Nov – mid week) but park was very quiet on our visit.
Didn’t go on beach so can’t comment on that.
Very enjoyable morning seeing the sights and wildlife in BBCFSP

We enjoyed the Lighthouse tour (very limited schedule) and the Nature Walk hike. The beaches were beautiful and clean. Once again, the provided map was insufficient for finding trails, minimal signage. Lots of picnic pavilions and restrooms. Cafe was much too expensive for our lunch, >$20 a meal

Half an hour from the Art Deco district brought us to the park. We were lucky it was quiet as a storm was forecast. A run around safely for a hyperactive two year old and grandparents. Climbing and jumping off tree branches, finding Father Christmas's house ( the lighthouse keepers ) all nicely decorated. Pressing the buttons on the interactive displays to learn about the history of the place. Spotting a lizard which must have been 2' long at the entrance to his home underground. A run along the breakwater to look at Stiltsville. The lighthouse looked beautiful and is open to the public at certain times, not when we visited and 2 yr old would have been too little. There is also a cafe there which was closed on our visit. We caught a downpour and got very wet running across the car park but all had had a good spot of exercise and it wore out the little one so he slept peacefully for the next hour. Highly recommended.

Not as wide and good of a beach as South Beach, but more peaceful. Water was very calm with little in the way of waves, at least on the day we were there. Not as much surf as South Beach. So seems like a good place for children and families. Also picnic areas, cafe, bathroom facilities, shower parking. All for the low price of $8 per vehicle admission. A helpful ranger or volunteer docent will tell you about the history of the lighthouse, which offers incredible views if you can climb the 109 steps to the top! Bring your camera. Small children can go in the old care takers cabin, but cannot go in lighthouse, be aware.
I nice side trip and break from Miami.

It's the season to see sea turtles. The babies hatch some 60 days after the loggerhead lay eggs. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission can list you for a tour.

Great clean beach and BBQ/picnic areas. Wonderful place for family or friend gatherings. Lighthouse is a fun place to explore.

My family and I enjoyed our day at this state park. Admission per car was $8 and it was well worth it. We visited, and climbed to the top of Cape Florida lighthouse, walked the grounds, accidentally fed the raccoons, and rode a four person bike (30/hour) all around the park. Very enjoyable sights and wildlife.

My husband and I set off to Key Biscayne today and were happy to find the Historic Lighthouse very easily. There is plenty of parking in this State Park and also a cafe. Be sure not to feed the wildlife! The Lighthouse area is beautiful as is the water. I wasn't able to make the trek up to the top but my husband did and he enjoyed the beautiful view. There's over a mile of shoreline along with picnic areas with BBQ grills and covered shelters. The cost for entry to the park is $8.

We drove here from Indiana and were amazed at how pretty the water was. The lighthouse was closed on the day we went, but the beach is beautiful. We were aware that it was a family beach, but there were couples in the shallow water full on having sex in front of everyone. Very obvious what they were doing. Super trashy! That kind of ruined our experience, but the park is beautiful. Definitely check it out if you're in the area. Only $8 a car to get in. My favorite pictures from vacation were taken here.

One weekday during Winter Break, we came here to have a "get away". My sons were 24,15, and 14. My daughter 22. We had a truely wonderful time from exploring the Light house and tour, to having lunch at the Light House Café. My daughter and I also sat on the beach for a couple of hours while the boys hiked around and exploring. The food was delicious, the views spectacular, the wait for the light house tour totally worth it (get there early) and the weather was perfect.

This park is a relaxing spot in a busy city. The beach was stunning. Local wildlife. The lighthouse was an excellent place to visit - walk up the steps to an amazing view! And it is free- apart from the park entry fee... Sadly the cafes (2) are really below par for eating. Don’t bother with either. The mansions on the Key nearby were worth a look too!

We went to explore the beach mid morning. There was a single ranger booth that collected the $8 fee to enter (there are different fees for single person vehicles and more than 8 people). The was one car ahead of us when we arrived but a longer line when we were leaving. There may be a wait based on timing. The ranger gave us a map and suggested walking areas. We drove to the last parking lot and walked along the beach. The waves were calm, the water was warm (and clear) and the beach was beautiful. There was dried seaweed on the beach, but that is expected in a natural environment. There were parts of the beach on our walk where we were the only ones there. The facilities were clean and the parking lot well maintained. There is so much more to see, we look forward to going back.

Lovely location, peaceful beautiful, there are no umbrellas or towels, its protected beading beach for turtles.Avoid weekend, don't miss the fishing terraces on the other side of the park, they are not on the beach, they are directly over water even if you don't fish you will love them.

Peaceful beach that allows you to spread out and has a beautiful lighthouse. The water is nice and blue and clear too. The restrooms are close and you are able to rent chairs and an umbrella which is nice. The beach is sandy but not very clean and has debris from the ocean (see picture).

Our 8 year old daughter loved the calm, crystal clear blue waters of this beach on Key Biscayne, with the beautiful Cape Florida Lighthouse at its southern tip. The beach was clean and very family friendly, and did not have the dangerous waves or the undesirable people that we saw on South Beach.
In an amazingly serendipitous moment, two friendly manatees appeared at the beach only a few feet away from us while we were swimming, just to say hello and eat some sea vegetation. Everyone at the beach celebrated their arrival, and my daughter was on cloud nine. What a wonderful experience!

When we arrived to pay, the young man there was smoking weed of someone with him was smoking weed.
The beaches are okay. There was a lot of seaweed on the sand. It was quiet and not crowded.

My cousin and I did visit this park during my holidays. It was really nice and very little seaweed on the beach. The walk around the park is nice and most of it under the trees.

This place is like a hidden treasure. It has a trail you can hike, a cool lighthouse to explore and a beach that is not crowded. Good for families. It does cost 8$ to get in, but that beats parking at most places.

Great walking trails, excellent views, good birding. Pay at walk up or drive-in kiosk. Restaurant in park. Very good but very busy.

$8 is a steal for this place! Lighthouse is easily accessible and perfect for kids (42” and up). Clean beach and waters. Bring food! Restaurant is a pass. Raccoons are out during the day and will touch your feet, begging for food. 😕

It’s not a must see and it costs 8 bucks to go to the park area, but it seems like a popular beach and bike area. There are other beaches nearby

We live by it and love to go hike; swim; eat at the restaurants (one on the east shore on the beach another on the west).
Very nice; uncrowded; $8 per car

This beach is wonderful. It’s inside a park (you have to pay 8 dollars to gain entrance). It’s very easy to reach the beach. You park really close.
Ate the beach you can rent an umbrella and 2 chairs for 20 bucks.
There’s also a lighthouse adding to the beauty!

Terrible traffic! In and out took 2 hours!!!
Don’t go to this park! Was to busy!
Supposed to be a relax day but was a nightmare

The views from atop the lighthouse were totally worth the entrance fee of $8. You can see the Miami skyline in the distance over Key Biscayne. So glad we extended our time on the island to visit this park!

Walk a few steps in the water and it drastically drops. It was nice going to the lighthouse though. Definitely a place to visit if you are planning a day at Key Biscayne!

Amazing Experience. Went there for a weekend getaway. The beach is clean & nice. The surroundings along with the lighthouse and the outstanding view are making the best Miami picture. The park is quiet and clean and it's a big pleasure to walk thru this beauty. Strongly recommend visiting!

We arrived quite late and didn't have time to explore the whole park but we spent some time on the beautiful beach. It felt like a locals area and was full of families enjoying the evening. The sea was clear, and warm! Also nice and shallow - nothing like the huge waves at South Beach.
Loved the lighthouse and it made for a stunning backdrop to the beach.
Would love to return!

Its fun when filled with people on weekends, but even better when visited on a weekday. Terrific place to relax. It's heavenly with wide vistas across the bay to the city, and likewise on the opposite side, has glorious views out to sea. Wonderful tranquil and restful spot for pondering life, nature, and time with friends.

Place must get packed on the weekends lots of trash on the ground looked like park workers were trying to clean up people dumped garbage right in the street wow how scumed out can you be. Water was Beautiful

This is a refuge close to Miami. The landscape from every sides is avesome. The nature is preserved and its possible to walk around the trees, over the sand, have a picnic or camping in specific places located inside the park. The most beautiful view is from the top of the historic lighthouse, beside the wonderful beach, where its possible to swimm. This is a place to spend a full day.

We had not visited this park for over 10 years. We went on a Friday when the beach was uncrowded. We would have liked to climb the Cape Florida Lighthouse, but there were several busloads of school children ahead of us and we did not want to wait. Instead we walked to the Lighthouse Grill, which has a surprisingly diverse menu, plus beer and wine. We had a leisurely lunch, then walked some more. On the weekend, the beach was packed, and cars were lined up along the entry road to get in. I recommend going on a weekday or non-holiday weekend. It really is a nice park, with walking and bike paths, the restaurant, the lighthouse and the beach to enjoy.

To begin the State Park itself is decent. The drive going to the park is pretty. However, we were not impressed with the beach at all. First, we are from the Gulf side of Florida. So, if you are used to Anna Maria, Siesta Key, Pass a Grille, Ft. Desoto and so on and so forth, don't even bother going to this beach. We had read there was "some" sea weed scattered along the sand . We originally thought, ok, big deal, a little seaweed is fine here and there. Also, driving to the State Park the water is gorgeous in the Bay, so you automatically think it's going to be just as beautiful when you arrive at the beach. WRONG. What most reviews don't mention is the seaweed is not only all over the sand (where you have to lay your towels, bags, chairs etc ), it's all over the bottom of the water where you are supposed to "swim". So instead of the water being blue, clear and beautiful, it literally appears brown in most areas. There are a "few" areas which appear clear when you are in water up to your shins maybe, but as soon as the sea grass beds begin, it is brown and gross. Literally, the seaweed/grass beds run up and down the entire shoreline (from what we saw). Now, if you are not from the Gulf side of Florida and don't mind water that isn't clear, than this beach is for you. However, we prefer clear, calm, GREEN water with soft SAND bottoms. Yes, we are spoiled on the Gulf. Lastly, this place was packed with people and the "beach" is not wide at all. There are much prettier beaches a little farther north in Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach.

This FL State park is very large and far off the beaten path as far as Miami beaches go. It has beautiful natural beaches that aren't too crowded, at least during the week. They also have fishing sites available, a beautifully restored lighthouse and park, picnic sites, and at least two beach/harborside restaurants. Great place for family or just getting away from the tourists in the more popular spots.

Its like you are on a South Pacific or Caribbean island. See the harbor and eat at the Fisherman's grill. Rustic but scenic. There are chairs and another restaurant on the beach side. The nature trails have lots of picturesque spots.

Beautiful views of Key Biscayne when you climb to the top of the lighthouse. The park closes early but if you go during the later months you can catch the view of a sunset. It is really one of Miami's hidden treasures.

Trip from Miami/Brickell area to this park is great (the return way is even bettter). Park is not very big, offers some walking/biking routes. Many picnick tables. Lighttower looks nice, but access is restricted to tour participants.
When we visited the park, it made a somewhat uncared-for impression; a lot of garbage lying in between the trees. Time for a clean-up !

We used to come here all the time when we lived in Miami. It is still my favorite beach to go to. I love hanging out by the lighthouse.

Bill Baggs is a very nice state park in Key Biscayne. There is a very long beach with a Light House at the end. The beach is by far my favourite in Miami, it's not very wavy, clear water, white sand... You can rent cabanas if you need. There is also a cafe by the beach, the food is very good. Enjoy!

Pleasant State park which has good permanent fishing stands bayside and a beach oceanside. Lots of parking available although entry at eight dollars is not cheap.

As a resident of Key Biscayne, I feel very fortunate to have this park within walking and biking distance. And yet, I feel like it's reputation is misleading.
First, allow me to give Bill Baggs its just desserts. It's a beautiful park with ample parking (very important), easy access to the beach (think family, not Miami), a charming lighthouse you can climb (no fee required), bicycle paths, and facilities for picnics and barbecue. It also has a pretty great little lunch place called The Boaters Grill Restaurant and The Lighthouse Cafe, which mostly serves coffee, juice, and a few snacks.
So why 3 stars and not 4 or 5? I guess it depends on your expectations. Bill Baggs is a great spot to spend an afternoon with family or friends (or both), but it is not "mind blowing" in its scenery, its beaches, or its cycling. There are a number of nature paths within the park, but, unfortunately, most of these haven't been kept up very well.
If you're looking for a place to spend some good beach time with a barbecue or playing paddles, this is your place. But if you're looking for real trails and cycling opportunities, you'd be better off making the trip somewhere like Bear Cut Nature Preserve.
All in all, a worthwhile day trip, but nothing to keep you coming back again and again.
great beach and park
park was awesome for a family, went twice when we were on vacation in the area. park has plenty of parking and a nice sandy beach that does get crowded on the weekend but every one that we encountered was nice.
