A Great Place for Bird Lovers to Visit

By AliFragale |

I rescue wild Quaker Parrots in New Jersey. Bird Gardens of Naples provided a sanctuary for over a dozen wild Quaker Parrots in Florida that lost their home when the local utility company removed their nest. Naturally, I was curious to see the facilities provided for the Quakers, but I had no idea how many other birds were cared for at Bird Gardens of Naples: Macaws, Conures, Cockatiels, Lovebirds, Cockatoos were just some of the other species I got to visit with during my time there.
As you may, or may not know, many wild birds are plucked from their homes in jungles all over the world and sold into the parrot trade. Additionally, many breeders sell baby birds as pets. Because parrots live for a very long time, many of these birds find themselves labeled 'free to good homes' or up for adoption, when they outlive their owners--or when the owners decide they were not prepared for the level of care these intelligent creatures require in order to thrive.
Keriellen, the owner of Bird Gardens of Naples, was once herself a breeder and, to her credit, she chose, instead, to offer sanctuary to the parrots she loves, after she recognized that the need for sanctuary, and the peace she would achieve by rescuing them, far outweighed any profit she could ever make as a breeder.
Her dedication the the parrots she loves is clearly visible when you visit this sanctuary. All of the birds have large outdoor aviaries with room enough to fly, and they are well-fed and cared for. If you visit, you will witness that Keriellen shares a special relationship with every bird there, knows every bird's name, as well as each bird's story.
If living in a standard cage were the end of the line for birds there, I would not recommend it. Instead, I am happy to report that all of the birds there appeared happy, healthy, and thriving in their outdoor aviaries.
I believe that Kerriellen has vision for all of the birds under her care at the Bird Gardens of Naples, and she is dedicated to improving and expanding their current accommodations. I recommend that all bird lovers visit this sanctuary and make a donation in order to help the Bird Gardens of Naples reach their goals for improving the lives of the birds under their care.

Up close and personal

By GottheTshirt2 |

A special opportunity to get up close and personal with some beautiful parrots, macaws and cockatoos. The owner takes you on a short guided tour of the many bird flights on her property, providing information on the birds whom she has named, and knows by name, and there are many! On most visits you can enter a flight with a member of the staff and the birds will sit on your head or arm.
No fee but you will want to leave a donation.

A hidden gem

A hidden gem. Had such a fun time visiting Bird Gardens of Naples. Bring unsalted nuts (no peanuts) to feed the well cared for parrots. No fee to enter but I suggest leaving a generous donation as they are a volunteer only non-profit.

Bird Lovers rejoice

By MelWisc |

Thankfully this bird sanctuary exists, shares an important message, and is open for tours. Please come visit this assortment of retired breeding birds, abandoned birds, and birds that have outlived their human companions. Not only does this family care for these birds, they conduct outreach to educate children and adults about the reality of having a tropical bird as a pet and companion. It's an opportunity to observe a large number of breeds and interact with them. Please make an appointment for a tour and support their mission! May not be suitable for very active young children (fast movements excite the birds, and they can get Loud!), all are welcome, the tour is mobility friendly if you can handle a dirt/sand mix path.

Amazing! Just Amazing

By Oliver J |

My family and i visited today, we had our expectations high due to TripAdvisor and the location, and i must say: it was truly an amazing experience, the knowledge and enthusiasm was second to none
We have an african Grey at home and Are parrot lovers. It radiated how much passion she had for her birds and how she loved doing it
10/10 from Danmark!

Beautiful birds, fun experience.

By Joedeb |

It was a lovely little out of the way bird sanctuary. You get to hold and interact with birds at first and then they have hundreds in cages you can feed. Bring almonds!

Crowds have diminished the experience

By Louis C |

Third visit for me. The last two, attendance was limited, and the host commented about various birds throughout the tour. Had some pet birds to interact with at the start, which was awesome. This visit, attendance seemed to be five times what it had been in the past, which made ongoing commentary to the group impossible. In the past, the smaller groups also were allowed inside a large cage with some of the birds. No longer an option. The birds are great, and feeding them blueberries and nuts is a fun experience, especially for kids. And a collection of pet birds was present, although my favorite bird had the day off. But it was better when attendance was limited. I understand they run on donations, and presume that explains allowing more people in at a time, but the visit has lost a personal touch as a result. Still worth a visit, but not as rewarding as in the past.

Spectacular Aviary

By David K |

This aviary and bird sanctuary is among the best I have ever visited. Many gorgeous birds mostly from central america. Tour leader was knowledgeable and energetic. There is an opportunity to enter the aviary to have mostly macaws fly around you. Feeding unsalted almond and walnuts as well as blueberries is encouraged. Need to call to make tour reservations. Very worthwhile.

Don't Wear Sandals!

By taramcg14 |

Small but packed with exotic birds and very knowledgeable guide. If you go I would recommend wearing close-toed shoes to avoid getting bitten by fire ants (I spent to much of my tour watching where I was stepping rather than watching the birds). Bring water and have a great time! The owner provides a very personalized experience and is obviously very passionate about her sanctuary. Great to stop by in the morning for a couple of hours then hit the Naples beaches. Would recommend to anyone interested in learning more about the species of exotic birds, local horticulture and native insects.
We did not call ahead for an appointment but tours start at the same time everyday.

Educational and inspirational!

By Chris B |

If you love birds, if you are interested in owning a bird, if you want to learn about and understand birds, this is the place to go. And be prepared to be inspired by Keri and the work she does!

Great way to spend some time

By connyjones |

There is no entry fee. Yet it is worth anything you can give in a donation. The birds are wonderful and you can get close and personal with some unlike you can in many paid entry attractions. It is obvious that he owner cares and is extremely knowledgeable about these lovely creatures. Maybe not a "commercialized", over-hyped entertainment park but perhaps even better because it is not. Highly recommend going.

Amazing

By angelfire761 |

We have been twice now. The two hour tour hosted by owner, Keri, was so informative. You must admit her love of birds, caring for 300+ of these beautiful parrots that have found their way to her for various reasons. There are several different types of parrots to view and, perhaps, adopt...a life-time commitment as they can live a long, long time. Our Amazon is now 40 years young and will possibly out live us. Bring a camera, almonds to feed the birds and wear comfy shoes. You also will have an opportunity to handle Keri's personal birds that are all very gentle and thrilled to be fed. There is no entry fee, but please make a donation to this very worthwhile and needed sanctuary.

Fabulous Experience

By AshesC |

My husband and I visited the sanctuary on 8/10/14. We were very impressed by Keriellen's (owner) operation and her care of these beautiful birds. Keri took us through the property and told us the story of most of the birds in each aviary. Her parrots were in great condition and seemed content. She was very knowledgeable and even provided us with tips for dealing with our own parrot's complexities.

One thing to note is that the aviaries are outdoors and therefore you might run into mosquitos, bugs, fire ants, heat, etc. It is worth it, however, if you love animals. The trails around the aviaries are well-maintained. I noticed that one person commented that the place was overgrown with weeds and other such things. This is actually not the case, although it is outdoors and there is grass (occasionally a bit tall) near the aviaries. There was nothing unusual about this, in my opinion. It is an outdoor sanctuary.

I highly recommend this attraction and donations seemed to be appreciated.

Great place to visit!

By Sofoust |

The Bird Gardens of Naples is a great place to visit. It is a non-profit parrot sanctuary located just outside of Naples, and though it may not seem like much when you first see it, there are many hidden treasures there! There are over 200 birds on the property in various breeds, sizes and colors. During the summer months, the gardens is in bloom and is just as vivid as the birds themselves. The owner of the Gardens will happily take you on a tour that will include the names and histories of all of the birds that you see. I don't think I have ever met someone who is as knowledgeable about birds as she is, or that cares so much about our feathered friends. You can tell that some of the birds were very neglected in their previous homes, but they seem to be completely happy and enjoying themselves in their new homes. This would be a great place to bring kids to see something that they probably have never seen before, and it will be just as much fun for the grownups. There is no charge for the tours, but they do take donations to help them keep the place going.

A hidden Gem

By Cleaninessfussy |

Although we had a little trouble finding Bird Gardens of Naples because there was not a sign out front, it was well worth the effort to keep looking. Be sure you have their address with you when turning on Purple Martin Drive and turn into the driveway of the address and keep going to the back where their house is located. Kerri Ellen took us on the tour and it was just wonderful. The parrots are beautiful and this is the only place I know that lets you hold the large parrots. You will learn so many interesting facts about them besides being able to take up-close pictures. Kerri does a wonderful job of caring for these amazing birds. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and spray with bug spray before going there. They are surrounded by organic farms and they do not allow spraying in that area so you may encounter some mosquitoes.

Surprising Gem in Naples

By polarbeach |

Although we have been to Naples often, this was our first time visiting the bird sanctuary. Its a real gem. The tour started a little slow, but then it gets quite interesting. About 1/2 way through, you get to go in an area and feed and pet the birds. Super fun! Bring some unsalted nuts (no peanuts) for the birds, so you can feed them.
Good fun

What a great place to be welcomed and interact with birds.

By Indigo-Skies |

A great day with the birds. Amazing creatures and very up-beat and educational. Tours run in the summer at 11AM - sign up on their website for no charge - but a donation is expected - and once you experience all of the love these folks give their birds (and other people's birds), you will know that your donation will be greatly appreciated and very well-used. Highly recommended.

Fun, Educational & Interactive

By Russ Grady |

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at the Bird Garden of Naples. The owner was very courteous, down to earth and extremely knowledgable. Fun for all ages.

Beautiful birds!

By nicole j |

Absolutely loved it here! Carrie, the owner is doing great things for these birds. My friend and I drove 2 hours from Hollywood, FL to visit and it was so worth the drive! You start the tour getting to know some information about the birds and why they're there. They start getting excited when they see a group of people because they know they'll be getting treats (unsalted almonds!) At one point, you're able to go inside a giant bird aviary and you may be lucky enough to hold a macaw or have one jump on your shoulder. I learned a lot of things about birds on this tour and it would be good for people of all ages. My friend even became a fan of the birds by the end of the tour even after swearing that she wouldn't touch one! Tour is free, but donations are accepted at the end of the tour. Remember to bring UNSALTED almonds for the birds and to pack your bug spray! Even with bug spray, we got bit by some mosquitos out on the trail where all the bird cages were. The bird garden was easy to locate using Google maps.

Awesome Organization...beautiful Sanctuary!!

By Juliet2000 |

The Bird Gardens of Naples is incredible. It's a wonderful facility and the owner/operator is an amazing woman who has dedicated her life to the care of injured/abandoned/unwanted parrots. The birds have large aviaries and are obviously very well cared-for. It is a great place to visit and I came away with a lot more knowledge of parrots than I had before. I can't say enough good things about this organization. It is a free tour and donations are accepted. I'm pretty sure the owners finance everything with their full-time jobs. It is an enormous undertaking. I felt grateful to be able to tour such a wonderful facility!! Go, you won't regret it!! If you can afford to donate to the cause, please do so.

Very interesting !

By lautakel |

Keri is a wealth of info on the birds and plants on her property. We learned so much, could have listened to her for hours. She is doing great work with these birds!

Amazing place! A Must Visit.

By queenb13513 |

Keri is unbelievable. She has over 200 birds she has rescued. The Bird Gardens of Naples is a sanctuary, rescue and education center. I am always amazed that Keri knows each bird by name and their history. Her love for all of them and those that come in are evident in how the birds themselves just take to her immediately. She is passionate about what she does and I can't picture her doing anything else. The gardens themselves are lush and as colorful as the birds in the summer. I volunteered there for a week and learned so much from Keri that I am still processing. I have a bird of my own and when I have concerns or questions (I am new to birds) she is always there with answers. Her knowledge of birds is vast and accurate. While I was visiting she had a benefit/auction for the Bird Gardens with food, drink, a live band and tours. I had such a great time. I Highly recommend the Bird Gardens of Naples for you next trip to Florida, you won't be disappointed. :)

Fabulous opportunity to hold, feed and learn about exotic birds

By Crystal P |

This is an amazing experience for people of all ages. Don’t forget to bring plain almonds to feed the birds. You get to hold and feed many exotic birds. The tour is very informative. Definitely a must when you visit Naples. The tour is free, but I recommend making a donation at the end of the tour.

Don't fly by - be sure to visit!

By JoppaMama |

Carrie is passionate about her birds! She tends to "her babies" lovingly, and they return the favor. Some even call out her name as she passes by. She does a wonderful job educating her visitors about the proper care and feeding of these gorgeous birds, as well as fully explaining the long term commitment required of bird owners. She offers rehab, medical care, training, and would love to adopt many to loving homes - but it isn't always feasible. Carrie is incredibly knowledgeable and imparts her wisdom from years of bird care in an interesting and engaging way. This place is well worth a visit, and even my teen boys were engaged.

It is an entertaining two hours, and well worth it. Be sure to leave her with a donation of some sort, (and consider the size of your party). She doesn't charge admission, but easily could do so.

Nice Work Rescuing Parrots

By JoniSD |

This is a nice organization who does great work rescuing parrots. Many of them end up abandoned once people realize how noisy they are and how much work is involved in owning an intelligent bird. Makes you stop and think twice about keeping a bird in a cage just to have it as a pet. It was interesting to learn about the different types of birds. We got to meet many of them personally and feed them. (Bring your own unsalted nuts but something other than peanuts; they seemed to live almonds and cashews!) It is just down the street from the Corkscrew Audubon Sanctuary and we visited both in the same day.

We Enjoyed It

By Ken R |

First of all, don't let the two mile hike put you off, it wasn't two miles and it was all easy walking on a path.

The birds were beautiful and excited to be fed. My wife had birds on her shoulders and head. Learned some things we didn't really need to know about bird illnesses, but we are not keeping, nor planning on keeping a bird.

Diamond in the Rough

By Michelle R |

Bring your friends, your family, your neighbors... Bird gardens of Naples is WONDERFUL. The birds are amazingly beautiful but in my opinion the highlight of this place is the owner/caretaker herself. Keri is a wealth of information and it is her knowledge and the individual stories of each bird that really make this tour something special. Her passion for what she does is readily apparent and best of all, she knows the names of every single bird on the property AND their ages. I stand in awe of her and I admire her and her good work. These beautiful birds are well cared for and live in beautiful surroundings that Keri clearly works hard to maintain as naturally as possible. There are fire ants on the property which she was very careful to point out to each of us. There is no fee to get in, but she does accept donations and admittance is only by appointment.

Great Visit

By Toby M |

The proprietor was nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. She loves the birds and nature. A nice place to visit.

Beautiful birds in natural surrounding

By szucker |

Small bird reserve run by knowledgable people, interesting walk through woods seeing beautiful birds, some even land on your shoulder!

By schneiks |

We arrived late and Keri was gracious enough to give our family our own tour - which we offset with a donation at the end. As a family who owns birds, we found what she does to be truly remarkable and selfless. A must visit for anyone interested in birds.

A Fabulous Experience

By Marcia F |

We toured the bird sanctuary today & learned so much about the exotic birds there! Kerri is obviously devoted to these remarkable birds & their comfort and well-being.She knows each bird by name & can relate each of their stories with humor and compassion. We feel so fortunate to have had this opportunity!

Don't miss this Sanctuary if you are an animal lover

By Cinthia N |

When you visit Bird Gardens of Naples, you visit more than a bird sanctuary. It's owner, Keriellen, explains about breeding in captivity, bird behaviours, lifespan, stories of rescued birds, pros and cons of each decision in the sanctuary... it's not only seeing beautiful birds and getting closer to the friendly ones, it's about education and lots of good information. Any animal lover who appreciates people making a difference in some animals lives will love Bird Gardens of Naples. I highly recommend it!

Amazing interactive experience

By Gillian B |

What a wonderful and informative tour Keri provides. Dedicated to saving exotic birds in need of a home (they live for up to 80 years and often outlive their human owners) this free tour is fun for all ages. We saw so many different cockatoos, parrots, Amazons, Scarlet macaws and cockatiels, each with their own story. We were able to enter 2 aviaries and feed nuts to the parrots - and get some fantastic photographs. We learned so much during the tour and cannot recommend Bird Gardens highly enough.
Although the tour is free, donations are appreciated. Prior booking is a must - but it's easy on the website - just fill in your name, contact details and number in party.

Very enjoyable

By spammerj |

My sister and I visited this Bird garden and enjoyed it very much. It was nice to see someone who is compassionate about saving these birds.

Wonderful Learning Experience

By rlspinner |

My wife and I highly recommend this place especially if you have children that are at least 8 years old. It was easy to find, but we did have to make a reservation on their website. There is no cost, but it is a non-profit organization and would appreciate donations. We started off getting to know three beautiful parrots as I took pictures of my wife holding all three. Romeo decided he wanted to play with her hat and kept picking it up and tossing it so she would have to retrieve it. The tour lasted about an hour and we learned a lot about how these birds have been misunderstood even though the owners were taking care of them properly. I would say we saw about 100 birds. Each one had his or her own unique personality. Later, we entered a cage of several birds and got to see them real close. Make sure you bring nuts. They love almonds and pistachios, but no peanuts. This experience is one that we will remember for a long time. We have a parakeet and received some free advice on how to take care of him properly even though we thought we were experts.

Pleasant place to view 360 parrots, able to feed them with unsalted nuts. Very informative tour.
Over 40 peacocks.

Second visit this year.

This was our second visit to Gardens of Naples. It was just as interesting as the first visit. Be sure to bring unsalted nuts. Cashews and Almonds are the best. No peanuts! We fed every bird there. So fun interacting with the birds.

Bird Lovers Rejoice!

By Julie M |

If you love birds, this is the place to visit. Bird Gardens of Naples offers a short guided educational tour appropriate for groups of all ages. Tour groups are small in numbers so be sure to book in advance to secure your spot!

We had the owner's son walk us through the gardens who was both informative, personable and fun. This is a tour recommended for all ages!

This tour is free, but don't miss the donation box on the way out!

An inspiring story

By Michael M |

The owner and tour guide, Keri, has deep knowledge about how to provide quality life for her parrots. And she has the gift to communicate her love for the sanctuary. I was inspired by her story and the stories of the animals lucky enough to find there way to the Bird Gardens of Naples. I also learned much about the fauna and how to create a sustainable environment for these beautiful and delicate creatures. Thank you Keri! Tours are by appointment, so be sure to call ahead and make arrangements.

Carrie, the owner and guide is the star attraction at the Bird Gardens!

By Radiohutch |

Bird Garden of Naples is a very unique attraction. It is deep in the rural area east of Naples near the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. There is is no signage in front, though we found the attraction with Mapquest on our phone. Here you will see mostly caged parrots, macaws and cockatiels though there is one aviary where you are inside with the birds. Bird Garden of Naples owner Carrie guides up to 30 visitors around the property for approximately 2 hours telling fascinating stories about each of the birds. Some were wild caught in other countries. Some were rescued and some are being rehabilitated for one reason or another. Carrie is so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and interesting. This place is intentionally not modernized or well groomed so that the birds can live in a somewhat natural habitat. This tour is an adventure. It really isn't a tour for photographers since virtually all of the birds are caged. If you are a bird lover you will love it! We did.

amazing Lady

By Blaine1467 |

This lady is a bird lover, like we have never seen before. Her caring and compassion for "her family" is incredible and she does it almost all on her own. It is a non-profit sanctuary, and you'll be amazed by the variety of birds she has!! Many are rescued and are open for adoption...all this done for only donations! The tour was amazing, very much worth finding and going to see....a best bet for sure!

Parrots galore!!

By smg12657 |

We had a great time on the tour of this Non-Profit sanctuary for parrots. The owner's son, Jake, was our tour guide. He is so knowlegeable and caring regarding all the parrots they care for.He even had 2 parrots to greet us-he called them ambassadors. They are his mother's birds and so tame, the kids there were all excited to hold a parrot!! All the birds are gorgeous-so many kinds of parrots from all parts of the globe. The tour is free but the sanctuary needs donations to manage the care of all the birds. I don't remember how many birds are there but it's a lot! Kerri, the owner. is very nice. We called for directions as we were really lost. She gave us great directions. It was very hot that day, so I recommend bringing water/electrolytes to keep hydrated. I walk with a cane and usually use a wheelchair for longer treks. The paths there are not easily accessible by wheelchair, so I did more walking than I usually can but it was worth the effort!!

Amazing experience

By cstage |

Fantastic experience. We did some research and found bringing almonds for the birds would be fun. We interacted with every bird we could. Some actually carried on a conversation! We were the last to leave. Highly recommend giving a donation online. The people that run this are amazing for saving these birds.

A must visit place!

By Travelinganimallover |

Beautiful tour of not only the 200+ birds at bird gardens but absolutely gorgeous nature. Lizards, frogs, Hawks, wild peacocks, and wild chickens/roosters, ducks. That you can see up close and personal. Everything is all natural and none of the wild animals - pest or not - are ever harmed. The macaw flight experience is the best part and it's entirely FREE to take a tour! (Please make a donation though). Right in the beginning you get to hold, talk to, and cuddle with some big beautiful birds and you might even see some tricks! It truly is a must see place!

Paradise of Beautiful Birds!!!

By Adventurer716618 |

My husband and I visited Bird Gardens of Naples last month. When we arrived, we got to hold some privately owned birds (a blue and gold macaw, a hyacinth macaw and a cockatoo.) These birds were so friendly and well-trained! As the tour progressed, we got to see a huge variety of exotic birds that have received exceptional care. When you go, don't forget to bring unsalted nuts (almonds, Brazil nuts) as you will enjoy feeding the birds. Ii wish we lived closer as this would be a wonderful volunteer opportunity!

Fantastic

By `mwong280 |

Take your kids there and they will love it. There are so many different species of birds that its mesmerising

Great!!

By BUGDLD |

What a great thing to do for children and adults. Interesting, informative and so many beautiful birds. The owner that does the tour clearly loves these birds and knows each of them by name. I liked that you can go inside the flight and be with the birds, not just look at them through a cage like at a zoo. Must see!!

So fascinating!

By Sandie K |

They are a bird sanctuary and rescue. Full of knowledge and so caring! Free activity but you do need reserva. It is very hot with little shade so wear a hat. And bug spray. The walk is slow and short, certainly not the 2 mikes advertised. It was enlightening to say the least. One negative- the bathrooms are DISGUSTING. We donated big!

An Educational Day

By DTWtravellers |

My wife took her best friend and her two children ages 13 and 6. The experince was very enjoyable. It did rain at some point so I would suggest taking an umbrella. This is a non profit company and they appreciate any donation. There are a few free range birds however the majority are in large cages. You are guided in the cage and are allowed to feed them. See the website for details on the foods they are allowed. You can buy food for them there as well. It is an excellent learning experience and hosted by some wonderful people.

Must see!

By Thielta99 |

Our family loved it! The birds are amazing and it was very educational. Bring a picnic and have lunch at the swap. Bring bug spray.

Informative and fun

By TwinMom1995 |

The Bird Gardens of Naples is owned and operated by Keriellen Lohrman. She is extremely knowledgeable and you can feel her love of the birds while she gives visitors a two-hour tour of the gardens. The tour includes a couple miles of trails so visitors should wear comfortable shoes for walking. Visitors should also make sure to wear sunscreen as parts of the garden are in direct sunlight and don’t forget bug spray. I don’t know how many birds are there but she knows all of them and shares stories of how she got the bird and the bird’s personality. She also answers questions as you go through the tour. If you bring unsalted nuts you can feed the birds. We had good weather and were able to enter the macaw aviary where you can get up close and personal with the birds. In the aviary you can feed the birds and some will sit on your arm. The Garden is located in Corkscrew Swamp and Keriellen can also tell you about the flora and fauna in the garden. You need to contact the Garden if you want to take the tour to tell them when and how many there will be In your party. There is no fee to go on the tour but donations are appreciated.

Wonderful hour!

By crazytravelernyc |

Arrive on time and bring cash to make a donation to this free tour of this passionate lady’s sanctuary for parrots, macaws and other birds. They are all in cages, and you can feed them if you bring raw unsalted almonds and blueberries. Some people brought walnuts but the parrots didn’t seem to like them as much. Wear insect repellent sunscreen - wear a cap and sneakers. There are restrooms.

Also this is best for children over 10 I think since the parrots were not comfortable getting on the shoulders of younger children and since they are rescue animals- some have been known to bite.

I loved it and learned a lot.

So nice. Bring bug spray, good walking shoes, almonds, walnuts or pecans.

By allison c |

Our daughter-in-law made reservations and we had a nice time seeing and feeding the birds today. Bring bug spray for yourself; almonds, walnuts, and pecans for the birds.

Bird Gardens of Naples

By Doris T |

A must see. A dedicated owner operator shares her wealth of knowledge about her rescue birds. Parakeets.Macaws. Cockatiels. You can get an up close experience with the birds in a large cage as well as hold the tame ambassador birds.
We made reservations on line. Leave plenty of time to travel from many Naples locations. No set admission. Donations welcome.

By mpartyrent |

1. Bug spray is needed!
2. Bring nuts to feed birds ( no peanuts)
3. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there. It is in Naples but not the populated area. Out there a ways!
4. Bring some bottled water. You get thirsty.
5. Don't be afraid of the bees they are too distracted by all the wonderful flowers
6. Don't be in a hurry, take your time and listen to what she has to say it is all very interesting.
7. Bring a decent donation this lady works hard and asks for nothing.

Beautiful birds in a non-commercialized environment

By Barbara13754th |

Keri, owner of Bird Gardens of Naples, spent 2 hours touring the facility with our group. Her birds are in excellent health and beautiful. She knows all their names and their stories. The grounds are less then perfect but that creates an environment that the birds live as close to their natural habitat as possible. Not commercialized at all. If you love to see and touch beautiful creatures - visit this facility. It is worth the drive.

Happy to be a part of Bird Gardens of Naples

By Tara L |

I feel honored to be a volunteer here. Every single bird is loved and well taken care of! Thank goodness for Keri and her team!!!!

Unique experience

By Kristen L |

Keriellen was extremely knowledgeable. It was fascinating to learn more about these beautiful creatures and feed them up close -- a unique opportunity that made for some amazing pictures! Great experience for any age. The sanctuary goes above an beyond to house and take care of the birds. It's good to know they are in good care.

A Must See for Bird And Animal Lovers!

By RQ001 |

A top choice for "things to do" in Naples, FL for a reason. You will be visiting a bird rescue on land belonging to an animal loving family who have opened their doors and hearts to these birds for public display. The owner gave us a tour of the plantation and birds on the property with stories which exemplify her love and passion for her winged family. You will have an opportunity to interact with the friendly birds on site and take home some great souvenir pictures. Thanks again to the family run bird sanctuary for a wonderful afternoon, sharing their knowledge and love for these birds. I would suggest calling in advance to arrange for the tours for the day, as the tour can take up to two hours. My daughters, who's ages are 10 and 8, had a blast! Donations (cash, check) are welcome as there are no entrance fees, which says a lot about a caring family who has taken on the cause and cost to care for these lovely birds.

Awesome

By Andrew1087 |

My brother was in on leave from camp Pendleton and I decided to take him out to see what was going on when we showed up Kerri welcomed us and began showing us all of her very unique birds (beautiful) her knowledge base exceed my expectations and she educated us about them, also we were able to enter the flights and take picture with the mccaws. And the African grey absolutely wonderful afternoon.

A Must See

By Ruthann K |

Visiting the Bird Gardens is always a highlight of our trip to the Southwest Florida area. Owner Keriellen has a wealth of information about these birds, mostly parrots who cannot be rehomed for various reasons. Its just a very relaxing experience walking through the property and you also get to enter one of the enclosures and have the birds sit on your arms.

What a Joy!!!

By Watsituya |

My husband and I took a tour of the Bird Gardens today. What a treat to be able to see all the parrots!!! Keep in mind this is a bird rescue/ sanctuary. How kind of Keri to share her passion!!! We enjoyed our tour so much. Thank you to Keri and all the nice people there for a wonderful afternoon!!!

Great adventure!

By SummerO |

We had a great time learning all about the 180+ beautiful birds in the sanctuary. The place was full of gorgeous wildlife and was well kept. We were able to hold some birds and feed all the birds throughout the tour. Would highly recommend this tour for all ages. Bring extra Almonds (no peanuts)!

Wonderful place!

By Cathy |

Truly enjoyed this tour! So many birds, all kinds, some even talk! You also have the option to go into a large walk in cage with large birds.

Our guide Meg was wonderful, and very knowledgable.

Bring unsalted almonds to feed the birds, bug spray, good shoes, and water.

Make sure you leave a generous donation!

Also double check on the time when you make a reservation. The website says 1:30 for the 2nd tour. We arrived a few minutes early but the tour had already started without us. So we were a bit confused at first.

I highly recommend if you like or love Birds

By everyjon |

The Location somewhat hard to found and as well feels like the drive takes forever to get there. Good ideas to be self-aware the Birds can be very loud time to time, everything is outside. I always have a good time at this place. I'm always happy to learn something new about animals. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes or loves birds. The pros make up for the cons of this place.

Excellent experience for anyone

By DTWtravellers |

My wife planned an outing with myself and our four guests. A younger family with whose girls are 11 and 9.
Upon arrival and sign in, we had time to spend with some volunteers who had some parrots that you could hold. Each of the girls got a great experience to do that as well as petting the Emu that was roaming around the property. We started the tours a little late because the group was quite large. Our host was the owner. She did a good job trying to communicate with everyone with a loud speaker. Once in the sanctuary, the group kind of broke up and we began the experience of going from area to area to see the parrots. It was a great day and educational.
Just a note…there have been a couple of negative reviews. This is a non profit sanctuary using volunteers who are passionate about what they do. They work off donations. There aren’t too many places where you can get this form of experience. Please remember to donate.
Thank you Keriellen for the great day.

What a great experience!

After coming back to Naples I was surprised to see a new number 1 attraction. While this is definitely a unique attraction and shows the owner's dedication and love for tropical parrots and related birds, the most surprising aspect of the Bird Gardens is it's rustic charm. The birds are carefully attended to by the owner and her volunteers and are paired or separated based on personality. There was even a pair of gay cockatoos who love and tend on one another. The tour is 2 hours and Kerry usually does 2 a day. It was informative and she accepts donations at the end of the tour. In the end, the uniqueness of the tour and the owners compassion are the driving factors pumping up this attraction. You are able to interact with 2 or 3 birds as most are rescued and not domesticated. This is not a "play all day with the birds/bird petting zoo" type of attraction.

Nice way to spend a couple of hours

By cheribokern |

This off-the-beaten-path bird park is a dedicated sanctuary, staffed by volunteers, and operating via donations. Great place for kids and adults.

Appointment Needed

By jimp63000 |

We tried to visit Saturday at Noon. A paper note on the open gate said to call for an appointment. Their Web page did not give any visitation instructions. Left a message at the number listed. Did not get a call back. We waited an hour and then visited the nearby Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary instead.
Be sure to call first to avoid wasting a trip. Looks very cool.

By On_Da_Road1 |

The tour was great. Keri has a lot of passion for these birds and they are beautiful albeit noisy. Nice natural walk. Lots of butterflies too. Call 1st for a tour time. They accept donations for the tours and they are a non profit organization.

Must see!

By SantanaReshea |

My kids said this was one of the best parts of our vacation. We all had fun. Keri the owner was knowledgeable and even gave us some ideas for our own bird. With over 300 birds she knows them by name, that in itself says a lot. My only complaint is we didn't have bug spray... so don't forget it when you get visit. We took plain unsalted almonds and for to feed and have a couple of the birds come on us to eat. We will be planning to add to our pet family and possibly adopt from her. We learned a lot and she answered all of our questions. The donation box is at the front entrance since she doesn't charge an entrance fee we donated. We will be back next time we are in the area. Go see and support her cause.

The bird gardens of Naples was a rare opportunity for bird watchers and lovers

By Werner L |

The bird gardens of Naples was a rare opportunity for bird watchers and lovers.
The 5 acres near the Corkscrew Swamp Audubon Sanctuary housed many parrots in the process of rehabilitation. The highlight of the tour was entering the friendly pet parrot enclosure and seeing the birds up close. The owner has taken on the huge task of housing pet birds that have been abandoned by their owners. It was a fun walk around the facility with the very kind and knowledgable lady. There is no admission, but donations are encouraged. Call her first to make sure she is at the site.

We cannot wait to return!

By Lee T |

Our experience at the Bird Gardens of Naples was wonderful! My entire family went and we enjoyed walking the trails and learning about all the different parrots. Keri was an enthusiastic tour guide and truly cares for her parrots. We are locals and plan on returning with a Brownie troop and also volunteering. Thank you Keri for a wonderful Sunday experience.

Exotic Birds

By sscrews |

Very nice day visiting with rescued Parrots, Macaws and Cockatoos at this bird sanctuary. My friend and I made online reservations. The owner was our guide. We were greeted by young wild peacocks who like to hangout there. We took a mostly shaded easy walk to visit with the birds in their cages, feeding them unsalted nuts. At one cage, we were allowed to go inside with the beautiful Macaws. One landed on my friends shoulder and she fed it. The trip was fun and educational. The sanctuary runs on donations which we gave at the end. I would definitely visit again.

Not worth the drive

By upone2000 |

Birds in dilapidated cages, way too many grouped together, which was very loud and noisy to tour. Owner will only do tours by reservation, she normally does this at 11am. Nothing you can do on your own. Preschedule if you want to Check out the huge array of cages lined on personal property which is not marked very well. Not worth the drive.

Five star plus

By Randy D |

What a terrific place. Very friendly, engaging staff and, of course, very knowledgeable. The birds are lots of fun, noisy and beautiful. Bring unsalted nuts but NOT PEANUTS. Almonds or cashews seem to work.

Went to see birds

By Kat F |

We were impressed by the knowledge that was handed down to us and impressed that they tried to have these birds live as natural as possible. Was impressed that the boarded pet birds until they could go back to their forever homes. Loved the place and can't wait to go back!

Soooo much fun, bring the kids!

By sledhead36 |

If you have children, this is a must do while in Naples. These people love birds and it shows. Dont be afraid to leave a donation to help them out on all their generous work they do.

Wonderful and educational! Highly recommend! The owner is passionate about the welfare of birds and is so informative!

Great Place to See like being in the Amazon

By thebirdcrew |

I totally love Bird Gardens of Naples, I even visited a second time. It feels like you are in a tropical rain forest. The person who runs the tours and is President of the Gardens, knows each and every bird name (all 260 of them) which is wonderful. Would recommend highly and would go back again.

Donations are always welcome to help with care of birds - but no set entrance fee.

Beautiful and educational

Be sure to book in advance - very educational she knows her stuff. Boy are they loud; the colours of these birds are fantastic. Wait till you meet Sunny - his trick will amaze you. Take unsalted almonds everyone will love you.

Bird Sanctuary

By Foodaholic1216 |

a group of people (10) from our community visited the Bird Gardens of Naples on July 14 and we all were so pleased with our outing. Keri was extremely knowledgeable about her magnificent birds and those entrusted to her care. As we meandered the
property she identified each of them by name and told us a bit about them and their
personalities. They seemed extremely well cared for and when she explained their dietary needs she also gave explanations as to the difference of feeding wild birds and those in captivity. It was a wonderful morning and deserves the support of those of
us who love animals and our avian friends. It is highly recommended. A hidden gem.

A sanctuary run by an expert bird-lover

By Suzy B |

I love these type of animal sanctuaries. It's off the beaten path and on someone's private property. It's not built like a zoo (thank goodness) and you never what you'll see. The owner and tour guide loves her birds, gives them the best life she can and can answer any question you might have. Also, there are random animals that roam the property which is also fun to see.

It's all about the birds!

By bhrbabydoc |

This is a very special sanctuary where exotic birds are well cared for after they have been relinquished by owners who can no longer keep them, or when they are no longer being used as breeders. The tour is very educational and interesting, and culminates in the opportunity to enter a flight cage and hold and give treats to gorgeous Macaws!

well worth the trip!

By Ruthann K |

I drove 3 hours to get there and will do it again! No trip to Florida is complete without a trip to visit my feathered friends and the Greeter dogs!so much work tobe done here..please give generously to help with the care of these birds. Hopefully you can find some bird lovin
g benefactors .someday I may spend a week in the area and help out every day.GOd bless You

Amazing!

By Susan F |

Fabulous place to visit. The owner was very knowledgeable and happy to share information about the birds. The tour was enjoyable for all ages. Everything was very clean and the birds were obviously well-cared for and healthy. When we arrived, we were greeted by 3 ambassador birds and their owner. These birds were happy to sit on the visitors' arms or shoulders and were very friendly. The other birds throughout were in cages but liked being fed unsalted nuts through the cage screens. We really enjoyed the visit and will go back.

What a wonderful experience!

Experience ap[proximately 175 macaws, parrots and other enchanting birds up close and personal. Several you can hold and they are your best friends, until you run out of almonds. I will be back.

Hidden Gem...

By Bonita_Bch |

This was a fun activity I did with a group. It's a tropical bird rescue with quite a few birds. The tour guide (I didn't catch his name) was very personable and informative. You can feed the birds as you go along. In a couple of places you can get as up-close-and-personal with the birds as you like. The tour lasted about an hour and a half (just long enough), and didn't require very much walking. Tours are by-request and start at 10am, but leave enough time to get there, as this is out in the "Boonies". No fee, but there is a donation box. We were happy to donate after such a fun tour!

I must go actiity in Naples

By Ricardo M |

The tour was really nice, but since was raining that week some of the pathways were blocked by water but we had a lot of fun and we learned so much about the birds and their amazing job at the sanctuary.

Exciting "hostess" Kariellen Lohrman gives great lecture for 1 hr. tour / stroll/ BRING NUTS!*

By FloridaFelix |

These birds are "rescue birds," not your normal zoo collection. Kerriellen is a most interesting and educated birder and throws out much information, both about birds and about herself, her efforts. We were a group of about 20, and the narrow meandering paths through this lovely garden prevented us from hearing everything that was said-and from stopping to see and hear the birds being described. I will take other visitors to this garden so that they can enjoy / and I can pick up some of what I missed. 1-bathroom (at the beginning & end of the stroll). No fees. I donated $30 for the 5 of us. No kidding about bug spray; bring it, but the foliage made sunblock nearly superfluous. And very young (under 4) may get pretty antsy. And....it is right around the corner from Corkscrew swamp...if you want a very full day of it (bring your own lunch, then).*NUTS: Unsalted, but NO peanuts....you'll love feeding the birds!

Parrots, Cockatiels, and McCaw's Oh My

By Chris B |

Keri the owner is mother to about 300 birds. She knows their names, their habits and their personalities. Some will play with her and she talks to them like kids when they are naughty. The tour is excellent as Keri educates you about her passion the birds as well as local plant life and butterflies. Keri is full of great stories about birds she's rescued and interesting people she's met. The tour is free but she'll certainly take a donation if you're willing, no pressure at all. We took an umbrella stroller with no problems on the tour. Bug spray recommended if the wind isn't blowing more than 5mph. Part of the tour even involves going in one of the big cages with some beautiful McCaw's and other tropical birds. Reservations are requested and tours only run certain days / times. It's an outstanding adventure with or without kids and something to do to break up trips to the beautfiul beaches of Naples, enjoy. P.S. Corkscrew Park / Audobon Nature Trail / Center is about a mile away. Good place to make a combo trip out of.

By Sarah K |

The tour was thorough, educational, hands on and interesting. It was so informative for my two children, ages 9 & 10. Beyond experiencing and learning about many beautiful and unique birds, we also learned about many indigenous plant species in that area. It is a definite must do experience!

I took a tour of Bird Gardens of Naples with my bird club and am very impressed with what I saw!

By Marcia A |

Bird Gardens of Naples is a very well kept parrot sanctuary that puts the needs and welfare of their rescued parrots that have been abandoned or abused their top priority. The owner described how the outdoor flight cages had to be designed since this sanctuary is in the middle of the Everglades and there are a lot of predators around (panthers, bobcats, bears, raptors) and the safety of her rescued parrots are top priority. Proper care, nutrition and safety are on the top of her list. I believe in this cause and made a donation. Bird Gardens of Naples is a must see for anyone who loves parrots and is concerned about their welfare.

Over 300 birds!

By jfsabs |

We visited the bird gardens/rescue/sanctuary on a Sunday morning. You have to call ahead and ensure the tour is available. We booked the 11am tour and there was 5 families joining ours. Keri absolutely is passionate about her birds and knows each one (300+) by name! Did you know... There are 4 birds with the name pancetta lol. Bring comfy shoes and bug spray as the tour is outdoors walking around the property. Hilight is going in to the big flight cage and interacting with about 20 birds!! Kind of nerve wracking at first as these huge birds are flying all about and landing on your head! You can bring your own nuts or they will be provided to feed the birds. They are calm and well behaved! At the end of the tour you can give a donation of your choice and inquire if you want to rescue a bird 🙂 overall a great way to spend a morning! Please note that it takes about 45 min to travel by car from old Naples.

Fun, Educational...a Must Visit!

By NJ2SC |

This is a family run non-profit organization where the tours are free. You will gain an understanding of their wonderful and philanthropic role in bird rescue. When an owner can no longer care for their birds, especially some parrots that can live up to 80-100 years, they will gladly accept and care for them. We learned about each of their stories and about how they came to their rescue, their personalities and health (fortunately HIPAA does not apply here).

One parrot, Robert, was hit by a car when he was a few days old, the owner of the Bird Gardens nursed him back to health and he was eventually adopted by a couple who had 9 other birds. The couple who adopted Robert, brought him on the tour. When the original owner came near him, I don’t know birds, but you can tell that Robert just loved her. He was nuzzling her and just wanted to be close to her. You are encouraged to bring nuts to feed the birds, any type except for salted and peanuts. Towards the end of the tour, we all went into a large cage with about 12 macaws. They were flying all around us and landed on people. They also had 3 bird ambassadors at the end of the tour that we could handle. This family does such a great job and answered all of our questions. Please visit this sanctuary. They do require reservations and accept donations. You will be supporting a good cause.

Stunning Birds

By Efresh92 |

What a great detour! A little out of Naples is this fantastic bird sanctuary, only one of three in the state! The owner/operator is extremely inviting and knowledgable about her birds. We were able to take pictures, talk with the birds (yes, most respond to what you're saying!), and hold and pet the birds, all while being taught about their unique backgrounds and about the importance of bird sanctuaries. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the birds and has a diverse background in breeding and flying them! I highly recommend driving out to this this truly one-of-a-kind destination!!

They say that Disney is the most wonderful place on earth but if you are a bird person I would say this is. Very friendly and educational

Book a reservation!

By Toby M |

This was my favorite thing to do when visiting Naples. This is a non profit run by a lady so knowledgeable about birds. She ran the tour which took a little under 2 hours. You must book in advance, and I booked on Wednesday and the soonest I could get in was Saturday, so don't wait too long. She takes rescues and sick birds, and has many colorful parrots which you can hand feed unsalted nuts (no peanuts, those are legumes). We know a lot about birds but still learned so much. Please be generous when donating on your way out!!

Very interesting!

By Karen N |

The lady who owns this place is a very sincere and knowledgeable person. She cares very much about these birds and willingly shares her interesting insights. She seemed like a very genuine and caring person. We were very impressed with her!

By Sharon A |

Had a great time, good for all ages. It was very educational and was wonderful to see and in some cases touch these beautiful birds. If you have bad knees or hips it would be a good idea to take any pain medication before tour.

scared

By borance |

You can view the numerous birds as part of a tour group or can go on by yourself to enjoy the birds. There is quite an array of gorgeous birds. Many of them are long living birds whose owners became too feeble to care for them. The woman who owns the place and leads the tours makes the tour very entertaining. She has some unique knowledge. However, she was going to take her two 160-pound pit bulls with us on the tour. Two little kids were allowed to pet the dogs. Suddenly they began a serious, terrifying fight. One managed to grab the other on the head and neck and wouldn't let go. She tried for quite a while to pull them apart. She finally dragged the two of them down to their cages and apparently separated them there.. I wish I would have photographed the fight but I was two stunned and terrified. It was as gruesome as if a lion brought down a wildebeast before your eyes. I suggest that if you get there and she is going to take one of those dogs with her, leave.Unless maybe you are a Medal of Honor Winner.

Very nice sanctuary!

By A M |

Our family really enjoyed learning more about the birds. And what a treat it was to be able to hold some of them. There is not a fee for the tour, however, there is a place for a donation. And starting now they will only do a morning tour because the birds are just not as active in the afternoons when to the warm temperatures.

Amazing Place!

Beautiful! Fabulous! Excellent! Bird Gardens of Naples is among the best of the parrot sanctuaries I have visited. Bird Garden of Naples, where a parrot can be a bird!

Peaceful

By carol w |

Amidst the sometimes exuberant squawks of over 200 birds at the sanctuary known as The Bird Gardens Of Naples, you will also get a feeling of peace. Like a meandering river, the paths that wind through the property lead you to many beautiful sights, laughs, and delights. The many native species of plants also lends to the beauty. It also helps all those beautiful birds feel more at home and secure. Keriellen has a kinship with the birds. You can see it,hear it, and feel it. You will leave the Birds Gardens Of Naples with a smile on your face, and wanting to return. Call ahead for an available time. Please donate. Tell your family and friends. 10 out of 10 stars!

Came with a friend

By thebirdcrew |

This is one of many visits I have already made to Bird Gardens of Naples and am totally amazed at the progress it is making. This particular visit I came with Alison Fragale Evans of the Save the Wild Quakers of NJ to see the quaker flight that Keri and her family had put up for 22 quakers that needed an immediate relocation. We also toured the facilities which has gone thru several great changes since I was there last.

I would recommend highly that if you are visiting in the area to make this journey to see Bird Gardens of Naples and tell your family and friends about it. If you have time to volunteer your time to help out with the continued progress going on there.

Very educational

By L0is60 |

The woman who runs the sanctuary is obviously a bird lover and she shares a lot of information about them. The sanctuary is well-kept and the birds are beautiful. They are obviously well cared for. It is worth the trip.

Amazing tour - Highly Recommend!

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who has an interest in learning more about exotic birds and seeing them up close. This tour is free of charge, but you should definitely leave a donation before you leave. The tour lasted about 2 hours and you must make a reservation on their website beforehand. Towards the end of the tour, you have a chance to walk into the parrot cage and get pictures, feed the birds, and hold them. Keri, the owner, was very knowledgeable and you could tell she really cares for the birds!

Birding in a Birds' Paradise

What a fabulous exhibition of gorgeous creatures enjoying their lives in a natural habitat , except for their flights. Keri and her husband are conscientiously dedicated to providing a sanctuary for these 200+ special members of the parrot family. In addition to the birds, one will experience vegetation with expert education about the varities from Keri. Be ready to see numerous butterflies and, if you are lucky, a special breed of honeybees. This is an experience not to be missed.

This place was so much fun. Terri did an amazing job talking about all the birds. She knows so much. I don't know how she remembers all their names. The birds are so beautiful. We got to go in and pet one of the birds, then got to hold some others. Some people brought these peanuts things. Wish I would of had some. It would of been cool to feed them. Also there are some birds you could adopt. This is a non-profit place, so it's just donations. Well great place, you need to visit it. Just don't forget the bug spray.

Birds, Birds, Birds

A fun two hour tour learning about many species of exotic birds. The highlight for me was the opportunity to feed and hold some very colorful birds. The tour is free with a place for donations at the end. My daughter brought along walnuts and almonds to feed the birds. Peanuts are not allowed. A great way to spend an afternoon.

Thank you for providing such a great place for the birds!

Our homeschool grop had an amazing time!

By MamaInTheSun |

We had a wonderful morning at the Bird Gardens with our homeschool group! The kids learned so much and loved feeding and holding the birds. It is a beautiful property, and the owner truly cares about both the birds AND the environment, and had much wisdom to share with us. We stayed and had a picnic lunch afterwards. I would highly recommend visiting!

Birds, butterflies, nature, conservation, endangered species & butterflies - WOW!

By 🏝 CJ 🏝 |

At 10:45 AM, Keri opened the gates for everyone to enter her beautiful property via our cars. At 11:00 AM, we began the tour.

Her property is very beautiful & unique. You feel like you are in a jungle with birds calling all around you. Many of her birds say hello also. She cares tremendously for her birds. Many cannot be rehomed because they are too anxious around people or are permanently injured. She also cares for the elderly birds that would otherwise be euthanized.

Keri is concerned about conserving plants, butterflies & even bees. She is extremely knowledgeable, personable & caring. Her stories about her experiences are fascinating & her tour was very enjoyable!

My favorite part was going inside the largest enclosure where we were able to hand feed the birds & have them sit right on us. They are very gentle & they take nuts right from your hand or your fingers. That was unexpected for a lot of us.

Bring natural (unsalted) Cashews or Almonds. Cashews are a little easier for the birds to eat because of their shape - but they took both types of nuts. I brought Almonds since I couldn't find natural Cashews in the store.

Wear a long shirt or bring a jacket if you are concerned about getting scratched when the birds sit on your arm inside the enclosure. Also, going inside the enclosure is (obviously) optional.

Bring a camera!

We were there on a windy day so there were not any bugs but we heard it is normally buggy. I would use bug spray before the tour if isn't a windy day.

The only bathroom is by parking lot at entrance so use bathroom before tour because it will be another 2 hours before you are near a bathroom again. Keri told someone on our tour (who had to use the bathroom) to go ahead of us to the end of the path where the bathrooms were if they needed to.

Give yourself enough time to drive here. It is an easy to follow the directions on a GPS, but it is a bit of a drive for most people.

Although the tour is free, give a generous donation if you can. You will want to give after you hear all of the touching stories & see these beautiful birds that Keri cares for so well.

Beautiful birds, small groups, and a caring owner - A must see

By John P |

All I can do is echo what the other reviewers have said before. Even a bad leg couldn't slow the owner, Keri, down from giving us our tour. We spent a leisurely two hours touring her sanctuary and visiting, learning about, feeding, and holding these magnificent birds. We brought along UNSALTED almonds to feed them (no salt or peanuts, please) and before we knew it, they were eating out of our hands. It is amazing to see the love and passion that Keri exhibits when spending time with the birds. She knows them all by name - and there are hundreds. Some things to note that make this even more special:
- This is a private sanctuary - remember to make a reservation prior to coming. There are tours at 11:00 and 1:30 on certain days
- These are the birds that most likely cannot be adopted that Keri takes in. She wants to make sure that any adoptable birds have the best opportunity to be adopted and those are the ones that may be found in other locations. She works with those organizations to ensure all have homes
- There is no cost for this tour, but you'll quickly see what it takes to keep it up and running. As others have said, Keri never once asked for a donation/$$$, but please consider donating to help out.

Visit to Bird Gardens of Naples

By LynneM |

Recently took my visiting aunt and uncle to Bird Gardens of Naples just looking for something entertaining to pass a few hours. This was quite the unexpected jewel. The tour took about two hours (but you can leave early if you want). It was so enjoyable seeing such a huge variety of tropical birds, along with chickens and peacocks roaming free. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging.......oh, and did I mention it’s free! We just made a donation to the upkeep and care of the birds. At one point we went into the cage with Macaw’s and they woul land on your shoulder and eat out of your hand. Be sure to take some raw cashews or almonds, the birds love them. Couldn’t have a higher recommendation for this wonderful bird sanctuary. It’s now a permanent favorite hang out for us.

Wonderful Bird Sanctuary

By A G |

My son loves parrots so we knew this was a must see place for him and it did not disappoint. However, we all really enjoyed meeting all of the varied species of parrots. The guide was extremly knowledgeavle and clearly has a passion for the birds here. It was wondeful to see the birds all so well taken care of. The birds were highly entertainig and beautiful to see up close. A true gem of a place. We were more than happy to leave a donation to support this great nonprofit.

Amazing bird sanctuary

By Harrisgumby |

My husband and I were totally overwhelmed by this facility and the dedicated owner/operator who cares for all of these birds (approx. 260) We did not read the fine print on the Trip Advisor reference that suggests you call in advance to book a tour, but upon showing up "unannounced" she welcomed us into the group that was just going out.
The walking tour encompasses about 2 miles but it does not seem that far as it is a very leisurely paced tour and the owner stops at each and every aviary to discuss the birds, their specific personality and name(s) and give a background on how they came to be at the sanctuary.
She describes her sanctuary as not a "bird rescue" site but a bird "rehoming" site. Many of the birds had been breeders before and after they were no longer able to reproduce their breeder/owners found a new home for them. Some of these birds live to be into their 70s, so they have a long life after their "birdbearing" years.
It is so obvious that the owner loves these birds, the thought of maintaining a facility like this (while still holding a full time job!) is absolutely mind boggling. She said she has three volunteers to help her (and I believe some family members) but, even so, this is a monumental task.
The tour is very interesting and informative. She takes the groups into the large Macaw aviary and you're able to have them perch on your arm....a truly unique experience.
There is no posted fee or charge but donations are accepted and, after seeing the magnitude of her undertaking, we felt our donation, even though pretty generous, was still just a drop in the bucket as far as her operating expenses!
I would highly recommend this visit for families with school aged children as well as adults/seniors. Allow about two hours for this visit...you can leave sooner but the entire tour takes about this length of time.

Very enjoyable experience

By heatherandjohn |

I saw this on trip advisor and quickly made reservations for the 11:00 tour for the following day. It is very easy to rsvp online for this tour. Gate opens 15 minutes before the tour. They do have restrooms available to use. The owner Keri is very knowledgable and also entertaining with her stories about these birds. She is a very special and wonderful person to take on this endeavor. There are many opportunities to feed the birds unsalted nuts (no peanuts!) on this tour. Make sure to bring some. This tour is not just for kids. These two adults had a blast! We will come visit again the next time we are in the area.

Beautiful birds

By Eileen M |

It was a great tour and very educational. Keriellen really cares for these birds and their well being. It was very enjoyable. Don’t forget to bring unsalted nut or fruit like I did.

Amazing

By Mike S |

Oh my gosh, this was an amazing experience. Call ahead and make a reservation. There are only 2 times during the day, the gate opens for guests. You get to hold exotic birds. As you walk on the guided tour, you see many colorful birds in cages and learn about them. It is a short walk. There are some trees for shade. This is less than 2 miles from Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary which has 2.25 miles of boardwalk. Do both while you are there. The owner is really into birds. Extremely knowledgeable. I hope the tour group is not too big because that will add a longer time to the whole experience. Children will be thrilled. Give a donation.

Fantastic place for education of parrots & what happens to the ones that just don't fit in living with people!

By Rynparrotlifemueller |

This is the most beautiful and educational sanctuaries you can visit! They give a place for mean, old, & breeder birds that have no where to go! If it wasn't for places like this most of these amazing parrots would not have the opportunity to live out their lives the best possible way in captivity. Thinking a parrot is for you? Please visit this place so you can see where these non domestic animals end up bc they are a lot more than just a pet! Great informal tours and fantastic aviaries for these fortunate birds to live out their lives! You have to go to see for your self.

A must visit spot

By Jose |

Visited on a Friday and was surprised to find out it’s free to enter! The place is incredible clean, peaceful, and full of beautiful birds. The highlight was definitely the friendly parrots at the entrance, which you can gently place on your arms. Such a fun and unique experience.
Absolutely a must-see if you’re in Naples!

Something To Do In Naples

By Dimsberg |

Interesting to see the birds. It was fun to enter a cage and interact with big parrots. Im glad I visited but isnt a "not to be missed" attraction. The name bird garden is kind of misleading. Its not a zoo like setting its a bird sanctuary with mostly abandon birds. I give kudos to the people that do this, taking care of animals that otherwise might continue to be mistreated or even killed. The birds do seem to be healthy and well cared for but to me it seemed sad seeing all these larger size parrots in limited size cages. Lots of birds but mostly parrot type so dont expect to see a wide variety of exotic birds... thats what I expected thinking its a Bird Garden. Its an hour or so guided tour not a zoo. No refreshments or vending and not a place for disabled to get around. Give it a look see if your in the area but dont think your going to make a day trip for it. After the tour giving a donation to the cause is a feel good thing.

Such a commitment to wild life

By Steve B |

The variety of birds was special and you can hold and feed so many of them. The tour was also very informative. To top off the experience was to feel the commitment the owner has for these birds that are cared for in a sanctuary environment but there is also an opportunity to adopt a bird as well which they do over the entire USA by the hundreds. Great for both addults and children.

A must do!

By Vacation36880010463 |

Such an amazing place! A must do for those who enjoy nature and the company of birds. Staff are all volunteers, very friendly and happy to answer questions. Strictly donation based. Don’t forget to wear bug spray and bring plenty of blueberries and unsalted almonds as treats. We will definitely visit again!

Rare opportunity to interact with all kinds of parrots

By Lawrence Herzberg |

The Bird Gardens of Naples is a truly magical place. It's a refuge for several hundred parrots, as well as some peacocks and a few other animals, run as a non-profit by people who truly love these birds. You'll have a chance to view the great variety of parrots up close, feed them almonds (not roasted or salted, which you should bring yourself), and even have a few of the trained ones sit on your shoulder for you to pet. There's no fee for the several hour tour of the gardens where the birds enjoy a lovely home and where many are readied for adoption, although you'll definitely want to give a freewill donation at the end of the tour after being entranced by the beauty of these special creatures and moved by the care they're given.

If you want to get close to and FEED exotic birds, this is the place to go!!! Excellent!!

By PAW |

Jake was our guide and did a great job! The two hour tour started with our group gathered around parrots and cockatoos that we could hold, then we toured the sanctuary. We learned about the various types of birds and had lots of time for questions.
Be sure to leave a donation since there is no charge to attend.
We had a great time - good for all ages.
TAKE UNSALTED NUTS IF YOU WANT TO FEED THE BIRDS - NO PEANUTS.

Best Thing We Did On Spring Break!

By Dylan C |

The tour was wonderful, the birds are stunning and (mostly) friendly and behind bars. We will definitely be back to hold the macaws again!! Don't miss this free tour! Donations accepted :)

A must see!

By Pamela B |

The highlight of my husband and my trip to Naples. These birds are stunning and Keri, the owner is so dedicated to their well being. We enjoyed our tour. Call ahead as this is by apt only.

Fabulous experience for bird lovers of al ages!

By dibry2016 |

My life partner and I loved the bird sanctuary. We were impressed with the love and care given by the owner!!This is a must see place to visit!

Beautiful exotic birds - amazing!

By Drs. D & E |

Birds! Birds! And more Birds! This was a lovely sanctuary for incredible and beautiful birds. We loved feeding the birds (unsalted pecans). Each of them had their own personality. It was the highlight of our time in Naples!

Amazing Sanctuary

By Sandra S |

My husband and I visited the Bird Gardens Of Naples, and the owner's son Jake was our tour guide. Jake is very knowledgeable about the over 200 birds and reptiles that they care for in their non-profit sanctuary and makes the 1 1/2 hour walking tour really fun and interesting.

I was glad that the instructions said to bring unsalted nuts (NO PEANUTS) to feed the birds, and discovered that walnuts are their favorite with almonds running a close second. It was great to interacted with the parrots, watch the peacocks roaming free on the property, and see the Peking Ducks, the giant turtle from Africa and the Iguana too.

The tour is free but they do appreciate donations as they are a 501 C-3 non-profit funded solely by donations. Wear casual clothing and comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for a real treat at the end of the tour when you get the chance to hold several birds.

You will want to return

By 2K1A |

A private shelter for/zoo with exotic birds (non-native to Flordia). Keriellen is an amazing host: very knowledgeable and passionate about her place/birds. If you want to learn about parrots, feed them, and have one of them landing on your head, then you will love this place. We spent there more than 1 hour and will return for more.

Bird Watching

By JOHN D |

This is a great place to see tropical birds. Keri the owner gives 1 1/2 hour tour of all of the birds. There is an aviary to feed and touch the birds. You can't beat the price of the tour (free)! I would recommend visiting the bird sanctuary.

Great experience, worthy mission

By RichGTraveling |

We did call ahead, and the location is a little out of the way. We waited a bit for the hostess to show up, she was on a rescue, but the wait was very worth it. As others have noted, this is not a zoo. The owner was a wonderful source of information and stories, and the visit reminds us why we don't have parrots as pets (loud!). The other reviews are pretty accurate, and visiting the 'flight' with her personal pets was great fun. It is very expensive to do this work, and I recommend contributing to help with this important work.

Retirement home for birds.

By 264Sue |

What happens when auntie dies and leaves her pet bird that will live for another 20 years? Keri has an answer, she opens her heart to one more exotic bird. Boy does she have them! Some real beauties, some feather pickers, some with x rated language that she retrains; she's got them all. This is an eye opening place well worth the trip. You even get to meet some of the birds first hand in one of the flight runs. Not your typical bird jungle tourist place. Much better.

A rich experience

By Bibi H |

Thank you Kariellen for accomodating my visit at short notice. We re-scheduled our visit to Naples to include this visit and it was worth it. What a genrous and wonderful gesture by Kariellen and her team for all that they do each day for these birds and animals. Learning about her not-for-profit organization and admiring the colourful birds were a big treat. Highly recommend. Not easy to get a slot in one of her guided tours so essential to book way in advance. Thanks again for enriching our stay in Collier County.

By g_rob2 |

The owner is very knowledgable and loves the birds. Kids can feed and hold parrots in the enclosure. They are non profit and work on donation only so if you are on a tight budget it's worth the trip.

Amazing

By SmokiesJunkie |

We had an amazing time here. Carrie was wonderful. Not only does she know so much about the birds but you can see her true love for them and vice versa. I was amazed at how we could interact with the birds by feeding and holding them. There is no fee for this attraction but were so impressed we left a nice donation.

Great place to visit

By will r |

Had a wonderful time learning about the beautiful and amazing parrots that get to live out their lives in this beautiful sanctuary. Highly recommend going for a visit and getting a great education.

A must-see!

By tourists_anonymous |

We were so happy that we stopped on our way out of Naples. We did call ahead and were just about 25 minutes late for the first tour at 11 AM. The owner said that the tour was continuous from that point and at the conclusion we would make up the part we had missed (which she did). It was a really wonderful place. Informative tour in a natural setting with well-maintained paths. We will bring family back for this! So glad we didn't miss it!

Informative about beautiful birds!

By Sunshine791946 |

Beautiful birds, very educational. It was fun to feed the birds and hold a couple. Sanctuary is very well kept and the people were very nice.

Unique Experience in Naples

By TimandAnnNYC |

This is a special place for bird lovers. I can't think of another destination where you can get so close and intimate with so many types of exotic birds. We came as a family of six including two young children and grandparents. The tour took us about 45 minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed learning the details of the various birds in a private tour by the owner of the garden/refuge. Definitely worth the trip for us.

Educational and personal interaction.

By RainbeauRambler |

This is a beautiful setting in the Everglades and was quite educational. there are so many birds and it was fun feeding them and hearing the personal stories and facts. It was a little long for me...I mean how many macaws can you see in a two hour time period without thinking, I'm good.

Not sure about the cost, never asked for money. I think it's all donation based. We took off early so not sure if they asked at the end. But I just left a nice donation in the box at the entrance/exit.

But definitely worth a visit. If you pair this with going to the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary (just right down the road), it's a slam dunk.

An amazing sanctuary for these beautiful birds. You'll enjoy it!

By Diana U |

Keri, the woman that runs and owns this sanctuary is an amazing lady. She has dedicated her life to helping these birds. We went on a two hour tour and saw over 200 exotic birds. I learned a lot about these beautiful birds. Keri was very knowledgeable. You could hear and see the passion she had for saving these birds and providing them with a good life. We got to personally interact with the Macaws and a very sweet cockatoo. It was so much fun to be in this large structure to watch them fly around and even be able to handle them. Bird Gardens is a non profit organization and is ran by donations and volunteers. If you're in the Naples area make a point to put this on your list as a 'must see'. Thank you Keri for the time you spent with our group when I'm sure you had many other things to attend to!

Interestign and Educational

By tbearnh |

Such an amazing facility! The tour was very interesting and educational. As a parrot owner, I was impressed with Kerriellen's knowledge and love for the animals she cares for. Her birds all look happy and well cared for. It's sad to me there are so many homeless parrots, but it makes me happy to know there are places like this where these birds can receive excellent care. The tour is free, but please make a donation when you go and help support this worthwhile cause. Bring unsalted nuts, but not peanuts and you can feed the birds on the tour.

An Incredible Bird Sanctuary

By funhunterEdgartown |

This place is a hidden jewel. The owner is an expert in the care and treatment of exotic birds. She shares her expertise in a 2 hour informational tour of the 2 acre grounds. There are all kinds of beautiful, well-kept, exotic birds - macaws, parrots, cockatoos, etc, etc.
At one point you can go into a cage with these beautiful macaws who will sit on your shoulder and let you feed them. We brought our grandkids and they loved it. Wear bug spray as this area is a swamp. Worth the trip! You have to sign up for the tour. This was a great experience for all of us. (Bring unsalted nuts but no peanuts!!)

So Many Exotic Birds - Wonderful & Educational!.

By photostoryteller |

This unusual non-profit exotic bird sanctuary has more than 100 parrots, macaws, and colorful tropical birds, who have become homeless or in need of rescue. It’s located off Sanctuary Rd off Immokalee Rd, just on the way to the Corkscrew Swamp Audubon Society Sanctuary about 12 miles east of Collier Blvd. it’s well worth the drive! Bring your own water or drink as nothing is sold there.
Call ahead to confirm and reserve a spot on the tour.

We learned so much! Keri, the passionate and knowledgeable owner has made this her life’s work. Her “tour” which is by donation, starts at 11:00 AM. As we walked through the landscape past the many large, clean cages, we learned about the health, diets and long life span of her rescues. We went into a mini aviary with beautiful & colorful friendly birds that might land on your shoulder if they so choose. We brought unsalted almonds & blueberries to feed the birds. (The fruit needs to be rinsed first.) Today, the birds were happiest with the almonds. At the end, an owner brought her three “ambassador birds” that we could hold for photos. This was a wonderful and unusual 5 Star experience!

Beautiful birds and even better education

A trip to the bird gardens will open your lives to the beautiful, complex, and comical lives of parrot species from all over the world. A must do if you are in the area.

Great take. No charge but donations envourages

Excellent for kids and adults!

By Ehomeyer |

My son, his son, age three, and I had an informative tour. The owner has pride in her work and definitely loves her birds. She mixed personal stories with facts about these particular rescues with information concerning breeding and habitat. She was wonderful with my grandson who asked many many questions. Great close up and hands on experience.

Fabulous place full of beautiful birds!

By nbjb |

We reserved a spot on the 11:00 tour and totally enjoyed the guided tour by the owner of the sanctuary. She is very knowledgeable about the birds of paradise and knows the names and habits of her birds. There are over 300 birds on the property that were acquired as a refuge for abandoned and abused parrots. There seems to be every species of parrot and the owner is knowledgeable about all of them. If you own or want to own a parrot, this is a must place to visit and learn the challenges of keeping your bird healthy. For those that love to see and be around their beauty - this is the place!

Low-key spot dedicated to rescuing parrots

By Ontheroadagain447 |

Owner/guide is very knowledgable and completely dedicated to her mission of providing a home for exotic birds. Following a initial photo opportunity, the guided tour requires about an hour to complete. Be sure to bring a hat as tree canopy has been damaged by Hurricane Irma and there are sunny spots. There wasn't one question that couldn't be answered. No admission but donations are very welcome to help offset the cost of feed and vet bills.

Interesting

By 52dianez |

Beautiful birds and you can bring almonds to feed them. Great for kids and they take donations instead of an admission fee. You can schedule the tour on their website.

Fantastic!

By Lindsey W |

What a wonderful sanctuary! We had a fantastic time and the owner was very kind and knowledgeable. Would do again in a heartbeat!

Parrot Heaven

By Chuck D |

Very interesting tour. The woman giving the tour was very knowledgeable on parrots, macaws, and cockatoos. This woman used to breed these birds and now operates a rescue for these birds. You are able to feed (bring unsalted almonds) and hold some of the birds..You are also invited to a large flight cage where you are one on one with the birds. This location is a little out of the way but well worth it. No admission fee but donations are greatly accepted

Super experience at a lovely place

By joroyjo |

We have visited Bird Gardens of Naples on June 20th 2016. Keirellen had to cancel our earlier appointment due to some serious bad weather that day, she was so kind to take us on a private tour on the following Monday. The parrots who live here are surrounded by natural beauty and receive the most loving care you can imagine. The caregivers are extremely knowledgeable and spend a lot of time with the birds and parrots. Bird Gardens of Naples is a great place, it will stay a nice bird sanctuary and will not be turned into a Bird Zoo because the idea is to keep the place as naturally as possible.
thanks for a wonderful tour with amazing birds, especially the Macaws off course

By Amanda H |

We were unsure what exactly to expect but Kerri Ellen was wonderful! She is very passionate about what she's doing and it shows. We all learned a lot and had a lot of fun in the process. Highly recommended for families or anyone who appreciates nature and animals.

Go! Just Go!

By Lisa K |

Wonderful experience, and I am not one for zoos, or any other caged animal experiences. The people running this "sanctuary" are doing a wonderful job, and it was great to see the birds being cared for. People don't realize how long this type of bird can/will live, and so abandon them...so my thanks to the Bird Gardens of Naples for doing their part in rehabbing the birds, and giving them sanctuary! Worth the visit, and pleased to give a donation at the end of the tour to help them out!

Lovely Visit

By heathers44 |

If you like parrots and macaws, this is a must do. It is a rescue centre, all the birds are ex pets or rescued. The Garden owner knows every bird, and there is about a 100, name , age, type and it’s history. For the first 15 minutes you are introduced to three “ ambassador birds” cockatiel, hyacinth macaw and blue and yellow. These three sit calmly on your hand, if you wish, and allow photos. The owner then takes you on about a 40 minute wander around the facility, she tells you about every bird and answers any questions. There is no sense of rush, and you can leave anytime. The paths are natural and you have to take care. Also take bug spray. There is no fee, but please be generous with your donations.

Unique Attraction

By adventurer1234 |

We planned on stopping at the Bird Gardens of Naples before going to Corkscrew Swamp Audubon Sanctuary, but the gates we closed. We called (813-841-1191) and she said she would be back after lunch. We went on to Corkscrew Swamp and then returned. The owner operator lead us on a tour (about 2 hours) on the walking paths. We viewed large birds and parrots that were there because most of the original owners said they could no longer keep them. You could enter a larger aviary with several parrots if desired. The dedication to her birds was evident throughout the tour, since both she and her husband had full time jobs in addition to running the aviary. Donations are accepted but don't cover the expenses. Visiting the Bird Gardens of Naples is a must if you're in the Naples area!

You will love it

By Sylvia P |

This was the second time we went to Bird Gardens of Naples. Terry is the main person responsible for this wonderful habitat. She told us that not all the birds are rescues. Some came to it just because the bird out lived there owner. Terry truly knows each and every bird. Every one there is a volunteer. All the birds are treated very well and are loved. Bird Gardens of Naples is a must see.

This place is cool to see!

By Joe M |

This place is amazing to see. Keriellen offers great tours and info about these mostly abandon and unwanted wild pet birds. She provides great information and some hands on with some of the birds too. We had a great time and were very happy to help support her great cause. Worth the trip!

Highlight of Naples trip

By KMF |

My husband and I came here as part of a weekend Naples trip. It was definitely the BEST part of our trip. Truly an interactive experience with the ability to hold and feed many different parrots. The owner was extremely thorough with the tour and informative.

A must see !!

By HCLBRK |

Out in the middle of no where is this terrific place that houses over 100 birds. They have several volunteers that maintain many cages that house these very friendly animals. Tours are on weekends. The volunteers greet you at the entrance carrying various breeds and allow you to interact with the birds before the tour. Bring some salt free almonds and you can hand feed them. These are pet birds that came from homes where the owner was no longer able to care for them. They find homes for these birds and the volunteers travel as needed to drop off or pick up birds when needed.

Don't Miss this Amazing Place!!!

By Linda B |

The Bird Gardens of Naples and sanctuary is a must see and worth the drive from anywhere in SW Florida. Keri, the owner, provides a 90-120 minute tour of the gardens and over 300 exotic birds under her expert care. She loves these most brilliant of natures creatures and knows each by name!

She does not refuse any bird needing expert care hosting the blind, one footed, abused parrots and those no wants or can no longer care for. She even hosts a Disney bird whose act was retired and the bird went into shock, plucking his own feathers out from the stress of losing it's owner.

Don't forget unsalted nuts so you can feed the birds when given the opportunity. An optional step inside the macaw aviary is a GREAT experience as these birds land on your shoulder asking for their treats! They are very gentle!

Suitable for all ages, families,

This attraction is by donation, please be generous.

Inspirational

By Stephen E |

As the owner of two parrots, an African Grey and an Amazon, we were really looking forward to seeing the work that Carrie was doing out on her lush property. We were introduced to her by another animal caretaker, and we couldn't have been more inspired and touched by the work she's done with these beautiful creatures. All of the birds were introduced by their given names and each had their own personalities. Many were rescued and in need of special care after sustaining injuries. As new Naples residents, we're so glad to have met Carrie, who is so knowledgeable and provided valuable advice for our birds. We've made another new friend that shares a passion for birds. She has invested her life into caring for these birds, and we look forward to visiting again. This is NOT a typical animal "park", or zoo. This is a gentle drive out away from town and on a large natural property. We LOVED the true Florida feeling of her property and we gained even more respect for the environment. From there, we drove a short mile to Corkscrew Sanctuary, which is right around the corner. It's all worth a full afternoon or morning visit.

No need to be a bird lover to enjoy this captivating and enchanting treasure.

By nhart6 |

Spend a few hours with Kerri as she takes you on tour through a tropical parrot sanctuary filled with exotic birds and other rescued creatures. The wealth of knowledge our leader shared and her talent for combining science, history and keen insight, was the most riveting experience I've had in recent memory. The birds are interesting and beautiful; the surroundings primitive and lush. With no admission charge for this non-profit (donations welcomed or become a member), the Parrot Sanctuary is the very best value around.
And ask her about her rescue dog who shares the trail as she takes you on tour.
Best to you Kerri and this wonderful venture.

Well worth a Visit

By Scott B |

This is a great activity to do. Young children seemed to have an especially good time being up close to macaws and parrots.

Educational and Fun

By Suebeep |

This is an interesting sanctuary which is off the beaten path and not widely known. It sits adjacent to the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and could easily be combined with a visit to Corkscrew, although it is not open every day and reservations are suggested. It houses parrots, parakeets, macaws, and other large birds. Children would love it not only because it is informative but because you can actually hold some of the beautiful birds. A visit includes an hour-long tour of the birds in their habitats and a look at the facility. It is a family-run business and the owners are warm and welcoming. Admission is free, but donations are happily accepted.

Interesting tour, beautiful birds and a terrific value

By Frank D |

A local non-profit bird rescue/sanctuary with hundreds of beautiful and well cared for birds. Only open from 11AM to 1 PM Thursday through Sunday, so be sure to arrive promptly at 11 or you may miss part of the tour.
The owner is experienced and well informed, and it is obvious that she cares deeply for these birds. While there is no admission charge, the operation is supported totally out of the owners' pocket and by donations from visitors, so please be generous.
A great educational opportunity, and very kid friendly.
A must visit when visiting the area.

Lovely

More then I expected. Dedicated and knowledgeable owned leads the tour. Bring unsalted nuts, except peanuts to feed the birds. Free admission, just call first to confirm the time: one tour a day for now. Donations are welcome.

Beautiful, Intellgent Birds

By cbj0su |

My now-husband and I visited this sanctuary, last year. I love all animals, but birds hold a special place in my heart. The facility has many birds in the parrot family and most have very sad stories, but they get to live much happier lives at the sanctuary.

Bring some almonds to feed the macaws. That was a great experience.

Despite the crazy amount of mosquitoes, we truly enjoyed our time here.

Fantastic experience!!!

By Kristina M |

Bird Gardens of Naples was an amazing experience! Go on the website to reserve your tour time in advance and gates open 15 minutes prior. The tour is both fun and educational. Keri gives great insight into the birds, telling you their stories and you'll see for yourself what remarkable creatures they are (and why for most people they are not good pets).
Bring your own unsalted nuts (no peanuts) - to feed the birds. This was my favorite part, I could feed them all day long. Going into the large flight area and getting to feed them with no cage in between was incredible. I had a beautiful Macaw sitting on my shoulder. We left our remaining nuts with Keri at the end of the tour for the birds to enjoy later.
My only suggestion for improve was the times of the tours 11am and 1pm - both were in the middle of the day, so we really didn't have enough time left in the day to go do another major attraction in the Naples area as most things are only open 9-5 and we drove down from Ft Myers.
There is no charge for the tour, she accepts donations at the end. Consider most other attractions in the area are a $15 entry fee. Give generously as Bird Gardens of Naples is a rescue organization.

Great tour with the family!

By Lauren |

We had quite a drive to visit the Bird Gardens of Naples on our trip to Naples this year and were wondering if it would be worth the drive. Our entire group ages 7-76 had a great time. The owner was so informative and knowledgeable and we learned so much on this tour. Our kids just loved feeding and handling the birds and this was a great hidden spot that we would not have discovered without a little research! You are able to bring any kind of unsalted nuts (no peanuts) to feed to the birds which we did and the kids were thrilled. We went through about one and half small bags of cashews and almonds. The owner mentioned that fruits and vegetables were also ok so you may be able to bring other things as well but we were unsure as to what beforehand so we stuck to the nuts. There are bathrooms on site but this tour is outdoors so I am glad we read to bring bug spray (we learned that Collier County is sprayed by plane regularly and this area is a no spray zone so something to consider) and sunscreen. The tour is free and you can tell that the owner and volunteers really care about what they do. Donations are accepted but we never felt that they were expected which shows how much the owner cares since she is volunteering so much time to educate the public about birds. I did read a few negative reviews and if you are expecting a meticulously maintained zoo like place this may not be for you, there are native plants and wildlife roaming and you are walking through a wooded area with several large cages of birds on this tour. You get to go in one enclosure where large birds can land on you and eat and at the end you have the opportunity to handle some really well trained birds. The rest of the tour you learn about the birds and can freely feed the birds through their cages. This is a great stop especially with kids if you are in the area!

Amazing place! A labor of love! Birds are beautiful. Everyone in the family loved it. Bring blueberries and unsalted almonds. Apply bug spray before going in. State doesn’t spray this area due to organic farms nearby.

Such a fun morning - put it on your list to do

By Victoria W |

Such a wonderful place. Tours offered at 11am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (that’s during the summer months anyway)…and our tour was given by Griff (the husband of the husband and wife team that run the sanctuary). He was brilliant, kept it informative but fun and you were able to wander around and feed the birds (plain almonds). A chance to hold and interact with the birds at the beginning of the tour. Donate generously via cash or online/paypal as everyone working there are volunteers and this place is magical.

Awesome Experience

By Janyce K |

It was more than I ever expected! The staff was friendly and informative.. It was so much fun holding the parrots. I would highly recommend!

"A parrot Paridise"

By Dale S |

This is a rare experience for sure. Meg, a volunteer, did the tour; we thought she was wonderful. You need to bring nuts (no peanuts, it is a nut free facility), so bring almonds, walnuts UNSALTED. Make sure the nuts are whole, do not crush them. There are over 300 different parrots. If you love nature and birds..this should be a must. The parrots are in cages and you are allowed to feed them, but the best part is when you go into a caged area where the parrots actually fly on you and you feed them. Sooo exciting. Meg explains the behavior of parrots and tells you all about them including the training process. There is no admission fee, it runs strictly on donations. So be prepared for that and they welcome donations of the almonds etc. Great place for families. Additionally, you must call, they are not opened every day and you must reserve tour time so go on the website to do that. Enjoy this rare experience.

Lots of Feathered Friends

By Barb M |

This place is truly a great find. It is owned and operated by a woman, Keriellen, who is truly devoted to birds. She rescues these birds as well as nurses them and some are boarders. You can especially see how much she loves and cares for them.
She is very knowledgeable and offers a great tour around the property. It's about 1 1/2 hours long. Lots of birds to enjoy. She knows each one by name and shares many of their stories. The highlight of the tour is entering a caged area and hand feeding the birds. They are adorable and very gentle to feed. She will assist anyone who wishes to hold one.
This attraction is free and you must schedule a tour by phone or on-line....very simple to do. Also, you may leave a donation as that is how she runs the place. Bring whole unsalted almonds that is their favorite snack. Have fun with the birds!!!

Best kept secret in Naples Florida

By marianne s |

Living in Naples for so many years I thought that I had been to most places of interest. On our way home from Corkscrew swamp, we found this Little piece of Heaven for beautiful birds! (Thanks to trip advisor!) Thank you Kerri for a wonderful tour of your property where you take such wonderful care for all of the parrots & all of the other animals. There is also another woman that has her beautiful birds on the weekends at Flamingo Island flea market. (Bonita beach rd.Bonita springs.) Go and take your camera, the birds love to have their photo with you!

Great visit worth the trip out from naples

By JohnChris768 |

Great to know that someone is taking great care of these beautiful birds.Owner very dedicated to the 200 birds that she has .Very informative tour you will come away having learnt a lot about birds and nature.

Outstanding

By paulette90 |

Last week, my son, his girlfriend, my husband and I went to the Bird Gardens of Naples. This little gem of a place is a tiny piece of Heaven. The owner's son was our tour guide and he was patient, knowledgeable and very interesting. Admission is a donation. Remember to bring unsalted cashews. There was a woman in our group, who gladly shared her cashews and I will be sure to pass along her kindness when I go back. To be standing in an area and have these beautiful birds all around you is a marvel. I am going to take my grandkids back there in March. The Bird Gardens of Naples are amazing.

Great Tour

By Nancyjjj-953 |

The tour was wonderful. Loved getting to go inside one of the flights (cages) with the birds, had some birds that would land on your arm. Birds were beautiful and noisy. Many loved to talk to you. Definitely an interesting place to visit, but you must realize it is quite far outside of Naples. By appointment only. Donations accepted for help with the birds. It is a registered charity.

Unique experience

By Lindabu |

If you like birds, there are plenty to see and feed...........mostly cockatoos, macaws and parrots. The owner, Keriellen gave a very informative tour. This is clearly a labor of love for her. Bring bug spray. Get there right at 11:00 when she opens to gate to get the whole tour. Wear sneakers and watch where you are walking. The paths can be very uneven in spot. There is no fee but please consider donating to this very worthy cause.

Amazing time for folks of all ages!

By FamilyRockStar |

On 4/15/17 My family of four with two teen girls and friends with a 4 year old and 7 year old had the pleasure of taking a tour of this bird sanctuary. It is right next to the Corkscrew Sanctuary so it is a great way to spend a day between both of these activities. The walking tour lasts about 1.5 hours and is free but a box for in kind donations is available at the end of the tour. Reservations are required but easily secured on the website. There is also a private picnic table in the shade so you can pack a lunch like we did and eat before the tour. Keri did an amazing job telling us all about the birds, diet, behavior etc. Even the little kids with us were never bored. The final part of the tour is an enclosure that has 20 or so birds. This is the time you get to have photo opportunities with the birds perched on you and amazing unobstructed views. Bring nuts like cashews, almonds, walnuts unsalted if possible..NO PEANUTS... to feed them. This attraction is good for folks of all ages. Wheelchairs can be difficult because the trail is natural and tends to have some protruding roots. Strollers if light may be okay but it would be best to carry the little ones so that they can see more. Everyone in our party really enjoyed the tour and you even get a chance to collect feathers from the ground as you go but they will need to be cleaned. If you are looking for a great time to have a walking activity, combine this visit with the Corkscrew Audubon Sanctuary for a wonderful day out!!

Exotic Birds with a fabulous home!

By JenLane2511 |

Wow! What a shock to visit these exotically beautiful birds! You will find their home simply amazing. Keriellen had gone above and beyond to give these birds a home. She truly spends her entire life giving these birds a beautiful and carefree life! Definitely worth an afternoon of fun! The only thing I would take of, is the weather and mosquitos! Take sunscreen and bugspray!

Bird is the word!

By PR_Boy_London |

A fantastic short trip by Corkscrew, to see all of the gorgeous birds and the brilliant work the team are doing to take care of them.

The tour is two hours long, perfect time of day and well worth the trip.

It is free but truthfully they should be charging a nominal fee in consideration of their time and care costs for the birds. Donation box is on site but not necessarily in best view but be sure to leave one in consideration of the above - I'm sure the owners and the birds they are looking after will be appreciative. Thanks for a great tour and your fantastic work.

Worth the trip

By Sparkythebear |

Really informative visit. The owner was great and it is obvious she cares greatly about the birds in her care. I see why it was rated so high.

Bird Gardens of Naples

By John C |

Spent about two hours on a tour with ten people. Learned a lot about the care these birds need from the owner/operator. She has some great stories and answered all our questions.

Lives up to Tripadvisor ratings

By Bob S |

First this place is hard to find. We saw no signs promoting this attraction on the way and even after we reached the gate. The 1st tour is at 11am and the gate didn't open until about 10 minutes before 11:00. Once inside and Keri arrives you are in for a very pleasant and entertaining experience. Keri refers to most of the birds in the sanctuary by name and tells you a little about their personality and history. Bring your unsalted nuts and you will have plenty of opportunity to feed the birds and let them entertain you. I worry about the future of this lovely attaction as there is no charge to enter and very little effort to collect donations. We saw no jar for donations nor do I remember Keri asking for
us to donate during the tour. She is there because of her love for the birds, the sanctuary and the joy she has in sharing them with you. She could easily charge $10 to $15 pp for this tour but her strength is the sanctuary and not marketing. So if you come, and you should, take the initiative to give a good donation per person and do it visibly so others do the same.

Hidden treasure near Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary

By Connie34102 |

I had no idea that Bird Gardens existed, but I found one of the most knowledgeable and caring individuals, Kerry, on our visit. It is a sanctuary for mostly unwanted parrots, but Kerry gives each one personal attention. Her tours are very informative, and we ended up adopting one of the birds.

Must do if you love birds

By ACHG |

This is a great way to spend a couple of hours learning about many varieties of tropical birds. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and clearly care about these rescues. We really enjoyed holding and interacting with the ambassador birds. There is no charge for entry but they appreciate donations as it is a non-profit. Book in advance and bring bug spray if you are sensitive to mosquitos. You are allowed to feed the birds unsalted nuts (NO peanuts). Many brought almonds but we used pecans which they seemed to love. There were quite a few children in our tour and they seemed to have a great time.

You gotta go ....

By Track1089 |

This isn't a corporate enclosure. Rather it's a former breeder turned Sanctuary caretaker.

There are so many birds. Yes, noisy when they know it's 'nuts' coming there way. Keri, caretaker, tour guide, etc says there is 350 birds; you'll see close-up 100. Some nip but she keeps you away from them. Some cages you can't get close too. Most are friendly, calm -- just want a nut from you.
Don't be afraid. (No droppings on you either). Amazing how slow they take the nut and happily chew away.

Ok, don't expect a paved walkway. Fla DEM said no; so you walk on a ground path. Shaded too. Not buggy but diff times of the year it may be.

Lifespan of the birds can be 75+ years. Some birds are there temporarily (finding a new home or away in college etc). Some birds outlive the owners. Some owners can't afford their bird anymore.

Your donation goes to birds upkeep, med issues.
Added some photos - close-ups.

By Audubon's Corkscrew Swamp area. Call ahead for times.

Wow - highlight of our Naples visit!

By danielnV1813NB |

Three birds started the tour with their caregiver and board member - awesome! All four of us, 58 - 8, enjoyed ourselves immensely. Our volunteer guide was a wealth of information and fun. Put this on your agenda!

unique experience

By dreimer043 |

My husband, 21 year son and myself went to the Bird Gardens of Naples today. I am so glad we found this place, it is very special and unique place. I learned so much from the owner and leader of out tour Kerri. I plan to bring my other son back later this month as I know he will enjoy it just as much as we all did. We loved feeding the birds blueberries and unsalted almonds. My favorite birds were the cuckatoos especially Happy and Richard. I am so thankful that places like this exist.

Not to be missed

By makes3 |

If anyone out there who is a conservationist, animal or bird lover, wildlife advocate, or just wants to get a feel for the "real" Florida landscape, away from the trappings of tourism, you can't miss this. Keri does a phenomenal job in managing about 300 parrots, many of which are rescues. She knows all their individual stories, and on the tour she'll also interject her knowledge of butterflies and flora. You can't go there and not feel compassion for these beautiful, misunderstood creatures. This is Keri's passion and I commend her for taking on this monumental task.

Perfect Sunday trip

By 555jen |

My family and I loved this 1.5 hour tour. Our group was approximately 8 people, which the owner (Keriellen) stated was larger for this time of year. She was able to answer all of our questions about birds and even about the area where the garden located. We can’t wait to take grandma and grandpa when they come in a couple of months! A good tip is the birds live whole, unsalted almonds, we had the slivered type and some of the birds did not like them as much, but Keriellen was generous enough to give us some of hers!

If you like birds, even just a little, don't miss this!

By RogoD |

This place is a refuge for parrots that are abandoned, abused, or in need of a home for any reason. It is all outdoors so the birds, while in large cages, are in a natural environment. The owner has a wealth of knowledge about the birds and clearly loves them. This woman knows birds!! You can get up close and personal with the birds. Bring unsalted nuts (not peanuts) and you can feed them. There is an aviary you can enter and the birds will eat out of your hand and even land on you. This was an awesome experience.

We were there in February and there were no bugs.

There is no fixed charge for the tour, but a donation box is available at the end. The owner is very low key about the request for the donation. My suggestion is that you relate your donation to other attractions like Corkscrew Swamp that is $14 per person. In addition to the tour you enjoyed, you are also helping the birds.

Fascinating Bird Sanctuary complex

By Harrisgumby |

This is a wonderful outing for family, couples, friends who are visiting, etc. (would not recommend for very young children because of time it takes to go through the complex)
It is the second time we’ve been here in about 5 years and would come more frequently if it wasn’t for the distance.
Jake, the owner’s son was our guide and was very personable and informative. Of the hundreds of birds, he knew all of their names, personality traits (and quirks) and history. He gave us a nice assessment of each breed and care level, longevity, etc of each breed.
I booked the tour online (although I think you can call also). I believe the tours are daily at 11 and 1. The group maximum appears to be about 12 people.
I suggest you google them to access their website for more information.
They allow you to bring nuts to feed the birds (unsalted). Pistachios, almonds, pecans....no peanuts.
There is no charge, just a free will donation if you desire, very low key.
This is a mind boggling operation, from the time involved to the expense, individualized care and diversity of the type of rescues they take in. You’ll leave wanting to be as supportive as possible to this facility that saves so many of these wonderful birds.

Beautiful Intelligent Birds

By Jemma H |

I absolutely cannot believe we got to hold so many parrots!! What a surreal experience and they are the most beautiful creatures! We learned so much and will be going back many times. We will even continue donating as KERRIELLEN and her volunteers are just doing incredible work. These birds don’t just mimic words they actually talk in context. It’s just incredible to all of a sudden hear a “hello” from a cage and a bird walk over. I can’t wait to go back.

Nice place to visit

By Max M |

Rural, sanctuary for parrots, a pleasant experience. If you enjoy looking at parrots in a rural setting this is a nice way to spend an hour of two.

Astonishing and amazing place

By Bobanddiane M |

First of all, you need to call before you make the drive to ensure you can get a tour. Pack water and mosquito repellent. Keri tours by appointment only. When you arrive it looks like a gate to any house in the area but the treasures inside await. Keri is an amazing person that knows these awesome creatures and engages with them on a personal basis like she engages her human visitors on about a hour to two tour. This not for profit can use volunteers who are willing to get involved and get a little dirty! She even has a place to park a 40 RV with utilities in exchange for some assistance in raking and cleaning and cage building, etc.

Amazing

By Brindee123 |

What a wonderful place to see. Our tour guide was such a great person, so informative and social. She and everyone else who maintains the property are truly selfless people.
So many birds, this is a bird lovers paradise.
We will be back.

Great Exposure to Exotic and Endangered birds

By Pioneer0943 |

Had a good tour of this bird sanctuary by its owner who gave our small group a very comprehensive understanding of the complexities of owning and raising an exotic wild bird.

Birds!!!

By Stampingfrog |

This was our second visit to Keriellen's wonderful bird sanctuary. She gives a very informative and fun tour. You can feed many of the birds unsalted nuts (not peanuts). They are gentle and easy to feed. Many of the birds talk and say cute things. Keriellen cares for an amazing assortment of species and varieties.

My kids are 8 and 10. My ten year old owns and loves a cockatiel. The tour can be a little long for kids with short attentions, but it is ok to wander ahead a bit on the paths.

During part of the tour you can go inside a large flight with many birds who will fly down to eat from your palm. We really enjoyed that.

Kerriellen does a great job educating adults and kids about the needs of parrots and their long lives. She works incredibly hard. The tour is free, but you should give a generous donation as she is generous with her time and sharing her garden.

The guide is very knowledgeable, interesting and engaging

By Ziggysmom1 |

I enjoyed the upclose viewing and interaction with the birds, vs a tour where you may or may not see a bird in the distance.

You have to go here!! Hidden Jewel

By MikeD162 |

Highly suggest any visitor to SWFL put this place on your list of must do's. It is a walking tour of the Bird gardens and takes about 2ish hours depending on how much people talk.
Keri is incredibly knowledgeable and deeply technical about exotic birds. She has been working with birds for decades.
****Important....Make sure you bring a lot of Unsalted nuts, the birds love them and it's cool to feed them, Almonds, cashews, walnuts, brazil etc etc.. BTW...Peanuts are not nuts...legumes and they are not good for the birds.
The highlight of the tour is the aviary with the Macaws. They will get on your arm or shoulder for plenty of pictures.
The Other highlight is at the end of the tour where a local has 3 beautiful birds to closely interact with. A huge blue bird....can't remember they type, a Macaw and a Rose Cockatoo.....all very sweet nice birds you can handle and hold.
This is ok for kids, never felt unsafe or threatened at all by any of the birds...the ones that are not people friendly are a not accessible.
There is no charge to take the tour and is donation only...please please donate what you can as this is a non-profit...we were two of us and donated $30.
It is mostly shaded but make sure you have sunscreen. There are peacocks, chickens and ducks roaming around as well. There is even a resident bobcat that doesn't eat the birds oddly, ask Keri to tell you the story.
You can leave any time if you want to leave early.

Beautiful Creations

By Blessed |

My husband and I were on vacation in Naples and knew we had to check the bird gardens out. Make sure you call a couple days ahead to book a tour. Keri was kind enough to fit us in at the last minute. You are able to bring unsalted nuts except peanuts to feed the birds. This is a must because you'll want to feed as many as you can. Another tip is to wear bug spray because it is right next to a swamp. The birds are exquisite and very friendly. You even have a chance to go into a cage to hold parrots. If you want you can put your hand out and some will come eat right out your hand. Keri is very knowledgeable and friendly. This place is a gem in Naples and worth taking some time out of your day. I wish cherish this experience for a lifetime. Please donate to her cause. She will not ask but there is a bird house near the entrance where you can donate.

Lots of amazing birds

By Rgent42 |

It's a great place to get up close with beautiful parrots. It's a free tour but you really should leave a donation. Be sure to take bug spray and nuts to feed the birds, but no peanuts. It's not fancy but well worth the trip. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

The bird is the word...

By Paul S |

Spent a couple hours at this Parrot and Macaw rescue/sanctuary on a guided tour that was both fun and informative. Got to see dozens of tropical birds and interact with them. They only accept guests by appointment from their website and do not charge admission, only asking for donations which we were happy to give. Great experience for people of all ages. Highly recommend.

Keri cares for birds and others ~

By wkgal |

We visited the Bird Gardens of Naples on 01/30/2015, and Keri provided detailed information about her mission of caring for each of the many beautiful birds at her farm. She is involved in a mission of love; it was clear to all of us on that 11:00 a.m. tour. She spoke of each bird in detail and knew each of their personalities. She is a very busy woman, with great dedication. I was touched to learn that she takes in the beloved long-time birds of persons who become terminally ill and can no longer care for their pets; she keeps them and cares for them in case the person can return to reunite with their beloved pet again. I found that beautiful.

Amazing and Educational.. Great for the whole family.

By kathryn H |

Keri and her group of volunteers have a wonderful tour of her very large parrot sanctuary. She has knowledge of every bird and their unique likes and dislikes, including parrot care. These are very compassionate group. You are able to handle and take pictures with some babies, and other well manner parrots, Everyone in the group was blown away. I will take my family there next week.

What an incredible experience

By DJS1950 |

Parrots live over 80 years, often longer than their owners. This sanctuary gives them a home when they no longer have one of their own. The two hour tours are offered once or twice a day providing you with a wealth of information about parrots and wonderful photo opportunities. Bring unsalted nuts to feed the birds (but no peanuts). There is no fee for the tour but donations are greatly appreciated for the work they do rescuing and taking care of the birds.

Hidden Gem

By whitneyncooper |

A huge variety of tropical birds are here. Parrots, conures, macaws, cockatoos... Carrie was so friendly and knowledgeable. As someone who has also worked in animal rescue, you start to see who really wants to be there; you understood right away how much Carrie loves these birds and the magnitude of what she's done for them. If you bring unsalted nuts (NOT peanuts!) you can even feed a lot of the birds, which is a remarkable experience. At the end of the tour, we got to hold some of the more social birds, which was just incredible. Rosita was probably my favorite!

This sanctuary is a bit farther out if you're staying somewhere like downtown Naples like we did, so keep that in mind. They're a non-profit, so I recommend bringing a cash donation. And bring bug spray! One of the best places to see in Naples-- you really can't miss it. A true hidden gem.

Beautiful place to visit

By Heather B |

This is great place to visit if you like birds. They have a lot of birds on the property that they take in and raise. You are allowed to feed some of the birds also if you like to bring some blueberries or nuts. They are very nice there and you can tell they care about what they are doing. It's free to go but they take donations which helps them with everything they do.

Best part of vacation

By Tina S |

We saw this on tripadvisor and added it to our list of things to do. We didn't quite know what to expect. The location is tucked into a backr oads property which took us 30-40 minutes from the city limits. The gates are open during business hours. Be careful you know where you're going or you'll drive right by! It was a guided tour by the property owner who knew all sorts of things about her animals. She is passionate about providing a happy and healthy place for the birds. She was friendly and answered all questions visitors had. Make sure to call ahead to secure a spot in the tour. You may want to consider bringing good walking shoes, bug spray, and nuts for the birds to eat (NOT peanuts). Every bird there has a story. You get to go inside an enclosure with different parrots and macaws. Some even will take a treat from your hand or sit on your shoulder. Would definitely come again.

Great Tour!

By perlagold |

The owner was really caring and interesting. We really enjoyed hearing the stories of the different birds. It was amazing how they all had such personality. We got to hold some of the birds and learned about all the different types. We were surprised at how little help she had to care for so many birds. It was a really enjoyable experience. We weren't surprised that it was the most popular attraction in the Naples area.

Great place to visit

By David M |

A friend and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Bird Gardens of Naples today. We toured the grounds and enjoyed a great number of parrots and macaws. Stepping into the macaw flight (the word used for the enclosures the birds are in) was an adventure as the macaws flew all around us.
The family who runs the Bird Gardens of Naples is doing a wonderful job. Be generous with your free will donations that help to fund this wonderful sanctuary.

Beautiful Birds

By lbsunsets |

A very informative tour featuring many parrots and macaws. We loved being able to hold some of the birds before the tour began. We learned a lot about the rescue of the many birds. We brought unsalted almonds and had fun feeding the birds too. It was also nice to see the male and female peacocks that are wild, but frequent the gardens, especially during tours!! There was no charge to take the tour, but donations are greatly appreciated and we were happy to donate!

So glad we went!

By Linda A |

Kerri has devoted herself wholeheartedly to the birds in her care. She knows them all by name and also knows their personal history. She is very engaging and entertaining, as are the birds. We went with our teenage daughters and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. So glad we went!

An average old time Florida experience.

By hopeszoo |

We drove 45 minutes to the Bird Gardens of Naples. This spot has . limited hours and limited shows. You must schedule your visit, and the shows are late morning. The grounds are primitive, with dirt walk ways, the housing for the birds is wire and wood. It looks like they try hard to make this a nice destination but it falls short if you are looking for modern updated facilities. The information is good, it is a non profit, bring bug spray. If you like interacting with parrots this is your place.

Orphan birds find an angel to care for them~

By Meg W |

If you ever wondered if angels walk among us, visit this sanctuary! The owner, Kerillen, is a woman who is a retired Hospice Nurse who has taken in over 150 birds. Plus, a large tortoise, black swan and even a doberman that was left at their door. Kerillen loves each one of the 'critters' equally, as any mother would. "These are my babies and there is a waiting list for more little orphan birds but i just don't have the cages to put them in," she says as she gently rubs a huge macaw that acts more like a puppy than a bird, as she stroked it's head that was bent down while sitting on her arm. Hurricane Irma did lots of damage to the trees and some of the cages so please remember to give donation to help with repairs. Unsalted Almonds and pistachio are a big hit with the birds. Make sure you visit during tour time. I will be going back to see the birds more 'unsalted' Almonds and to simply admire the love and kindness this woman gives to all of her little orphans.

Up Close and Personal With the Birds! A Must See!

By Boodu |

I can't say enough about the Bird Garden of Naples! What a great experience. No bells or whistles or pushing t-shirts, just a lovely tour of the parrots and other birds that are at the sancturary for various reasons. Our guide Meg was full of info and interesting stories about the birds. It's a little off the beaten track but we found it easily even without the GPS. You can book a time on their website. There is no charge! BUT....they do accept donations so please be generous. They do great work with volunteers only and anything they receive goes towards the care of the birds. Don't forget to take unsalted nuts, (excluding peanuts) to feed the birds. We had tons of laughs due to the unique personalities of the birds.

By Terri G |

What an amazing place. Full of the most beautiful macaws and cockatiels I have ever seen. The owner, Keriellen is so informative , friendly and so committed to saving these gorgeous birds. She is truly dedicated. The place is beautiful and wild, full of butterflies too. I'm not crazy about zoos but I loved this place. It is a rescue operation and sanctuary . There is only one tour a day so call in advance.. It is maintained by donations so be generous and enjoy seeing some amazing birds and getting quite an education about them. Follow it up with a great sandwich at the estates country restaurant . Fantastic.

Well Cared for Birds

By Stacey R |

This place is dedicated to the care of exotic birds and they do it well. We toured the facility and loved the stories of the birds and how well they were treated. This property has native flora and the owner is very knowledgeable about same. We wish every owner that relinquishes a bird to a facility would also donate at least three months' worth of board and care costs to the facility. I hope to return and visit these wonderful animals again!

Wonderful way to spend the day!!

By Marcia P |

Absolutely a must do activity!
We absolutely loved our visit and will be going back.
The birds were beautiful and the staff were so knowledgeable and friendly.
Be sure to bring blueberries or unsalted almonds so you can feed the birds.

Wonderful experience!

By ztheworld |

We visited the Bird Gardens of Naples on the recommendation of a friend, and it was a wonderful experience! Several days a week, by appointment (check out their website), you can go on a 2 hour walking journey through this outdoor Bird Sanctuary, home to around 300 birds! The owner led the tour and told the history of each bird we met along the way. They lovingly care for these birds, each with their own quirks and oddities. They do not charge an admission fee, but run the Sanctuary completely by donations. Keep this in mind at the end of the tour and try to make a nice donation to keep the birds fed and cared for. I have to say, that this is one of the best activities I've done in Naples .. don't miss it! It is very close to the Corkscrew Sanctuary, so both can be easily done in 1 day.

This is awesome if you like birds

By ET-retired |

You need to make a reservation this is to keep the groups small and manageable you will walk among cages of pariots and Mckaws and similar birds with a very knowledgable guide. You get to hold several different birds on your arm and at one point go into an Avery and feed the birds they are remarkably gentle.

If you love birds, you'll love Bird Gardens of Naples

By mianth16 |

Gorgeous birds - and a lot of information about them was provided by our excellent guide, Keri. It's hard to believe that she and her husband maintain the Gardens with only their paychecks from their other jobs and donations.

Highlight of our Trip

By Philip W |

We made reservations for Bird Gardens about a week in advance and had to take our second choice of times. So very glad we didn’t give up! The tour was extremely educational and enjoyable. They have a couple of well-trained parrots that we were allowed to hold and talk to before the tour. Never held a bird like that before!! We were just amazed by the dedication the owner of the place has toward making sure these birds enjoy a safe and healthy life. Never really thought about how these birds outlive their owners and need a second (and sometimes third) chance. Also never thought about how important it is to match a bird and an owner, I would highly recommend making this place a part of any visit to the Naples area.

Education and colorful beauty!!

By Karen G |

The owner Keriellen is very passionate about the birds in her care...her tour of 300 or so birds including what she calls "her own" is something that will stay with you forever...listen to her passion and you will learn so much! One thing I did not know was to bring nuts...most of the birds love and will lovingly accept nuts...brown skinned almonds seem to be their favorites...I did not know this but someone who was in my group was willing to share so that we all had an opportunity to feed them...thank you kind lady! There is an area where Keriellen will bring you-they area she said were "her birds"...you get to feed them in the "cage" and if you want to "hold" one she will attempt to get them to sit on your arm or shoulder. I thought I would be here about an hour but was here a little over 2 hrs so plan accordingly...as noted by others, no charge but they do accept donations. I had forgotten this part and was upset with myself for not grabbing any money before I drove there however...if you are forgetful like me you can go on to her website and make a donation...which I did remember to do! Thank you Keriellen for the wonderful education! I have been on another tour since unrelated to these lovely birds but I did recommend to people if they loved the tour we were on and would like something a little more one-on-one to check out Bird Gardens of Naples!

A must see if you love birds

By AllWhoWander71 |

We had a wonderful visit to the Bird Gardens. The two hour tour of many exotic and beautiful birds was very informative and fun. Carrie, the owner and care giver of these exquisite creatures, cares for all 350 of them exceptionally well. If you are spending any time in Naples, and you like parrots and the like, this is worth a trip.

Chaotic but fun

Make sure to call the morning that you'd like to go to make sure the tours will be going. The actual site itself is the woman's house, so parking was interesting. But this woman has endless patience. She was interrupted several times during the tour by her cell phone, or people needing things but she never seemed flustered! Also when we were there, a guy stepped on a fire ant mound and got bit all over his legs and feet. So I would suggest wearing sneakers and socks - not sandals. And ask where the fire ant mounds are so you can watch out, especially if you have children.

The birds themselves were fun and very loud. It was a very different experience. Bless this woman for taking care of all of these animals. She said lots of times random people just leave birds at the end of her driveway.

Interesting and educational

By Julie N |

This is not a zoo or a typical attraction. This is a bird rescue/sanctuary. Keri the founder led a great tour (1 1/2 hours). She is clearly passionate about providing a home and care for these birds that unfortunately can out live their owners. She has an amazing variety of birds which she described in detail. The grounds are interesting as well. This is not a manicured, groomed piece of land. Everything is organic and native species are allowed to "do their thing". It would be great if people didn't buy birds not understanding they can live to be 80 years old, but thankfully there is Keri, and others like her who dedicate their lives to them. A must visit for bird and animal lovers. Very inspirational.

Wonderful sanctuary for over 200 exotic birds Excellent tour by owner. Worthwhile hidden gem. Personal interaction with macaws and cockatoo You will be impressed

Fascinating tour of bird sanctuary

By Susan P |

The sanctuary provides homes for hundreds of birds either on a temporary or permanent basis. The tour, which requires a reservation, is about a mile long, and includes fascinating details about the species, the individual creatures, and the rescue process. Bring nuts (not seeds), and many birds will take them right out of your hand. The walk is not long, but it is not a smooth walk so probably isn't great for wheelchairs or elderly. It is astounding that it has not become more commercialized. They could easily sell t shirts or other gear, but it is just a simple albeit impressive operation.

One of a Kind Santuary!

By E M |

After rescuing our feathered son more than six years ago we never thought the day would come when we had to find him a new home as we never considered giving him up from our own home. Sadly after years of battling MS my own health declined to the point where we knew it was necessary to consider re-homing him. No matter how many couples offered to take him or which sanctuaries displayed as nice, we just could not do it. We always felt that him being with us was still truly the best option. Then I found the Bird Gardens of Naples. The sanctuary looked beautiful and the parrots healthy and happy. When I spoke to the owner Keri I knew this was the only place and she was the only person that we would ever allow him to go to. Our son was flown in July and has been with Keri since. Through pictures and phone calls we have watched him flourish. It would take a lifetime to ever express all of the positive ways in which Keri and the sanctuary affect the lives of these beautiful animals. Although we will forever miss him being here with us, we shall also always consider it a true blessing that she took our beautiful son.

What a great experience

By Ted O |

Curiosity and somewhat low expectations characterized my plans to visit the Bird Gardens but I could not have been more wrong. This experience was beyond anything I could have imagined - this is not just a visual experience but a true educational one. The personal attention and wealth of knowledge that Keri provided was wonderful. The ability to interact with some of the birds was so cool. If you miss this attraction you have only yourself to blame.

Will be back

It was a good family trip all the birds were outside you are able to bring nuts to feed them. The owner take good care of them. Property was very nice. There are a lot of birds didn't think they would have so many. Bring cash they run om donations

Bird Heaven!

It was a very educational tour. I learned so much about the different types of birds. It was fun to feed then nuts through the large cages and in the free flying room.

Special place

By LCF373 |

As other reviewers have said, this is not a commercial place, nor is its primary focus the visitors who go there, but the birds in its care.

The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and caring about the birds, and happy to take the time to tell you their stories. Our two girls (aged 9 and 8) had a brilliant time looking at the parrots, engaging with them and feeding them. If you are staying in Naples, combine it with a walk at Corkscrew Sanctuary which is just a few miles away.

Take cashews, almonds or walnuts to feed the birds, and please make a donation to this wonderful place.

If you love birds, this is the place to see.

By maestrajennie |

First, make sure you have a reservation. We were greeted by 3 ambassador birds that we were able to hold and take pictures with. The tour of the facility was amazing. And the birds were so beautiful. Make sure you give a donation as there is no entrance fee. What a wonderfully way to spend an afternoon. We will be back!

Must do

By jadednewyorker56 |

Just one of those places where you’re really happy to be there and then really glad you went. Especially if you like birds. Would highly recommend going and leaving a generous donation at the end of the tour. Those birds pull at your heartstrings. And I admire the people who work to care for them.

Educational and fun!

By Duxburygal |

This is a private bird sanctuary managed by a woman who is devoted
to her parrots and passionate about them. Her love and respect for the birds
is a great joy and enriches the tour, which is educational and entertaining.
Visitors can enter one of the enclosures and see the birds up close.
There is no set fee but a donation is requested and well deserved.
Tip: Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary with its amazing birds and mangrove trees is just a few miles down the road so both attractions can be seen in the same day.

Amazing!

By lovinlifeinmichigan |

The sanctuary and its owner, Keriellen are amazing! Awesome tour! Fun and informative for all ages. Love that we were able to enter a cage to interact and hold some of the birds. Others were in cages but we were still able to feed salt free nuts (not peanuts). There were also free roaming chickens, roosters, ducks and peacocks. The tour is free, but donations are accepted, appreciated and highly recommended. Bring sunscreen and bug spray.

Fun

Educational, at your own pace tour with beautiful birds. Donations only. Bring unsalted walnuts or almonds!

A wonderful visit and God bless the self acclaimed "crazy bird lady" for her work!

By LynneMooHoo |

This was an amazing and interesting experience. It is unbelievable the issues that can call upon the resources of this great place . I didn't know the circumstances due to which such a place would be needed but it seems the reasons why the parrots come here are nearly endless. All of the birds are in amazing condition and each has a story and it's obvious the love that the caretaker has for all "her" birds. The tours are free but they welcome donations. Care and feeding of the flocks has to be terribly expensive but somehow they make it happen through their donations. A great variety of species, including some rare ones, are there to be viewed and most can be fed unsalted nuts from your hands and through the wires of their cages. We tremendously enoyed our two hour guided tour. It was an up close and personal experience, particularly in the open aviary where about a dozen birds flew freely and were grateful for "snacks".

What a rare gem

By FormerLIgirl |

I have lived in Lee County for the past 10 years and just found this lovely bird sanctuary. If you have not been here, run as soon as possible to see this wonderful sanctuary where they have owned and orphaned birds. You even get inside a feeding cage. At the end of the tour you even get to see rare birds up close. Don't run, fly here as soon as possible.

Great for the Entire Family

By Leese2004 |

This was an amazing experience! We loved learning about all of the birds. The people who run the sanctuary are wonderful and do great tours!

Up close and personal with parrots

By Mac-and-Tosh |

Beautiful birds look out of their enclosures along a winding path full of butterflies and native foliage. Be sure to step into the Macaw enclosure if invited--they are curious, funny and friendly. A very low-key, non-commercial, warm and friendly place. Keri, the owner, provides background on the origins and habits of the birds, plus lots of funny bird stories. The tour includes some of her own pet birds. This experience compares favorably with the educational quality of both the Zoo and the Botanical Gardens. And it's run completely through donations. So enjoy meeting the birds and be generous!

A Wonderful Place for Birds

By ErinVeryBusy |

This is a GREAT place for people/families of all ages to visit and gain knowledge of tropical birds of all breeds. The sole purpose of my visit today was to drop off my Sun Conure, Woody because I can no longer keep him. I had talked to Kari several times on the phone and had researched the Bird Garden on line but still had my reserves that Woody would be in good hands and be HAPPY. Well I'm convinced that he is in the BEST hands and that he will be VERY HAPPY! Kari, her family and friends warmly welcomed Woody and I and totally put my doubts and tears to rest. After Kari gave me the tour of all the birds they take care of and I saw how healthy and content the birds are I'm convinced Woody will be much better off and happier in an outside aviary with other birds than kept indoors in a small cage by himself. Thank you Kari and family!

If you love birds this is a must do in Naples

By Lucky141414 |

We had the opportunity to visit thia attraction today and not only was it very educational, it was entertaining. The owner's son was our tour guide and was extremely hospitable and knowledgeable on all of the birds. It's an amazing gathering of exotic birds in a respecting natural environment. If you can find a few hours on your trip and you're nearby I highly recommend it. Holding some of the birds at the end of the tour is a highlight.

You've got to check this place out!

By MBRH615 |

My husband and I went to the Bird Garden of Naples after reading many reviews on Trip Advisory. We were not disappointed! The owner of the birds gives detailed information about the birds and where they come from. You are able to feed the birds, so be sure to bring unsalted almonds...you'll be glad you did. It was so fun and enjoyable. There is no admission fee, nor is there pressure to donate, but after being there, you'll definitely want to make a donation. A must see....you won't be disappointed!

Don’t miss if you love birds!

By dgm |

If you love birds, especially parrots, don’t miss this. A beautiful natural sanctuary. Numerous birds to feed/learn/enjoy their beauty. Several available before/after tour for photo ops.

Great two hour presentation on birds

By Carl B |

Pulling into this remote bird sanctuary, initial reaction was perhaps a little apprehensive but after the owner’s initial introductory presentation you quickly realized this lady knew her birds and was dedicated to their wellbeing. Many of these exotic birds were orphaned or abused. You are allowed to feed the birds unsalted nuts throughout the two hour tour. Great for kids and educational. Check website for available hours. No charge but donations accepted.

A great couple of hours learning about beautiful birds!

By Grace B |

We visited here whilst on honeymoon.
I must say Terri's knowledge of birds and the much needed care and conservation that some of the breeds much need were fantastic.
My family owned and loved an African grey parrot for 38 years and I appreciated that after learning this Terri did make the effort to tell me a bit more about that particular birds traits and stories.
A worthwhile trip for all the family!

Very nice

By Harry v |

Friendly tour lots of information. The park is a non profit organization that's all about the birds. You van feed them and they sit on you. The birds have a good life in big cages.

A labor of love

By Stacy S |

Had an amazing day meeting all of the birds and learning about their particular breed and story. The owner also knows every type of seed, grass, and herb on the property. The pre-teen/teen kids also had a great time and really enjoyed feeding some of the birds. Lovely way to spend a few hours. Please make a donation at the end!!!

Great place for bird lovers

By elstarrmom |

This was our second visit and we love the chance to see the various parrots, learn their stories, and gain more knowledge about parrots. On this visit there were quite a few young children who got bored with the tour quickly. The tour lasts about 2 hours. Of that about 15 or 20 minutes is spent inside a macaw aviary interacting directly with the birds. The rest of the tour is looking (but not touching) parrots in their enclosures. We love seeing all the parrots, but understand this is a bird rescue location not a petting zoo.
Bring nuts, not peanuts (harmful to the birds), bug spray and a nice donation to leave at the end. There is no official fee, but if you are able to donate, it's a very worthwhile place to support! There is one tour a day in the summer and 2 a day on weekends in the winter. It's a hidden gem.

I highly recommend this for bird and nature lovers.

Fantastic but rustic

By Cameron C |

We found this place to be educational but not boring. The owners clearly love this work and their knowledge shows. Go and enjoy walking an amazing property and see some beautiful birds.

This place is rough around the edges but for good reasons. They keep the place running by donations, they save lots of birds and it is a big property with a small volunteer staff. Don't let that keep you away. It may not be Bush gardens but a wonderful place nonetheless.

Big dissapointment

By RaiDoc |

Granted that anyone who dedicates part of their life to helping animals is wonderful, however our review is not based on this but rather how it stacks up like the attraction that it presents itself as. In the first place all the birds are non local parrots...many of which ex pets. There are no SW florida birds here and that was never made clear. Why go 20+ miles from Naples and not see anything but Australian and South American parrots many of which in not great condition as very stressed? The next big letdown is the really bad state of the property. Yes the cages seem OK, but everything else is totally overgrown, with weeds/plants invading the walkway, fences collapsing and pieces of metal fencing lying here and there. The lady/ownet taking the tour is very friendly and knowledgeable as regards parrots, but she spends more time remembering all their names than being seriously informative. Again though why go to a place where all the birds are named when one is expecting the real thing? All in all great to take kids but this place is NOT for anyone wanting to see local SW Florida birds close up. Also be aware that while there is no stated fee for this, the lady makes it very clear that generous donations are expected.

Passion, knowledge, personality.

By CJ J |

The title describes Keri. We have never met anyone as passionate about what they do as the owner, Keri. To hear her speak about her birds, you know she feels they are her children. This tour can not be missed.

Extremely informative loving caring owner responsible for many birds!

By MichiganQui1ter |

This natural environment where these birds are carefully caged by a loving, responsible owner who cares deeply for these creatures in this country setting is fabulous. It's very rustic and is a labor of love for Terry and her family; and the volunteers that help her get it all done. Many, many beautiful macaws, parrots and various species of exotic birds to see and enjoy. Terry tells you all about their personalities and backgrounds. How these birds came to be housed in this facility and how they're cared for. It's a worthwhile way to spend a couple of hours. Drive out into a different kind of 'Florida' away from all the hustle and bustle of the beaches and spend a quiet morning with these exotic creatures.

Terry is informative and you can tell she's a patient person to be able to help these birds when they're injured or sick; she takes care of birds when their owners have passed. A great deal of time, labor and love goes into this home for exotic birds. I admire the work they're doing there. Far beyond what I'd ever be capable of doing. Thank you Terry for all the work you're doing with those precious lives that are entrusted into your care. Thank you for sharing it with us snowbirds!

If you have even the remotest interest in parrots, make the trip, it's worth the ride

By Jan D |

An opportunity to learn about parrots and visit with them. It's a not for profit sanctuary, so keep that in mind. Schedule your tour on their website.

Such a great place!

By sderrick811 |

Loved it! Clean place, knowledgeable, beautiful birds, calm and relaxing! It’s no cost (donations) which was nice to do with little kids. I loved the talking parrots. Such a neat thing for the kids to hold birds

Wonderful place

By Rhonda P |

My two teenagers and I visited the bird gardens on our vacation to Naples. This is a bird sanctuary for birds whose owners have given them up, breeder's birds who are no longer bred, etc. There are paths through the gardens where you will be led through by a guide. The woman who runs the sanctuary is extremely pleasant and informative. She has an obvious love for all the birds. There are several opportunities for holding different birds and for getting photos. At the end, donations are welcomed, but no set fee. A very nice break from the hustle and bustle of large crowds in Florida.

Fascinating experience. Well worth the trip.

By LisaMilo |

We were so impressed with this experience. The owner gives a tour, but be sure to book via email before driving out there. She is only open on Thursday's. We were personally escorted to each cage where we were given much information about the species, and how they came to her sanctuary. It is obvious that she gives a lot of care, and love to each of these birds. This is a great place for adults, children, and families. You will be able to see the birds at a close range, and ask questions, which you will recieve informed answers. The birds are beautiful, and mostly there because they are injured or abandoned. There is no charge, but please make a donation. I can't imagine how they afford this. A true labor of love, and pride, and it shows!

Informative but needs some work

By terrisirig |

The owners (Kerri and her husband) were very informative and the Bird Gardens is a must see. I really liked seeing all the different birds and learning about them. The only things I didn't like were: 1) the bathroom/table area were very very bad..I wish I didn't have to use the facilities and 2) while I understand this place needs donations, etc. to function..there was a lot of talk of money and lack of money and needing money. I understand, or I think I do, I just wish it wasn't brought up as much..but who knows, maybe if it wasn't, no one would donate. Overall, glad I went..lots of birds to see and pet and touch. Lots of information and nice big sanctuary.

A Local Treasure

A must visit. Well worth the drive. And truly Naples best kept secret. Keriellen's work here testifies to the triumph of the human spirit and the power of love.

Nice place to visit

By Jeff K |

If you're in the Naples area and want a nice day out, this is a great place. It's a reservation based tour of a non profit that excepts donations. Many varieties of birds and opportunity to get great pictures inside some cages. Set in a long walk way path around property for a nice walk. Very informative about bird and local environment. A place like this with all the hard work to maintain program makes you happy to visit and support. Nice day out in cypress swamp area. To bugs at all when we were there. Relaxing walk pace

Wow. Just Wow!

By Nicole V |

when you think you're in the middle of no where, then you're in the right place. Surrounded by organic farms and sanctuary this place is tucked in beautifully. I brought my mom and three daughters (8,5,2) and wowed with all the knowledge and beautiful birds. Tour was about an hour 30 min so bring hiking shoes with you. So happy that there is a place like this that orphaned parrots can go. Well worth the hike to check out ❤️

Great experience

By Asta Z |

It was great experience with beautiful birds and lovely owner. She and her helpers were very informative, friendly and quiet personal. There is no cost to visit, just free will donations. During the visit you can take pictures with birds, feed them, "talk" to them:)
I would go again, since my whole family enjoyed it very much.
Note:Scheduled tours only!! Which is very easy to do online.
Thank you

love it here

Visiting this place is always the highlight of my trip to southwest florida. If you are in Naples, Immokalee, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda or anywhere in southwest fla be sure to stop by. They offer tours so check their website to schedule one.
Keriellen, he owner and operator lovingly takes care of hundreds of parrots, also ducks and peacocks and I love the dogs as well. once she even had a pot bellied pig but she adopted it out.
The birds are beautiful, some of them talk and even sing and dance, you can bring fresh
fruit and nuts just no peanuts,
corkscrew swaMP IS CLOSE BY. if you want to stop there too. also miromar outlet mall a few exits up on I 75.
I'll be back as soon as I get back to Florida....so glad I found this place!

fruit to feed them .just no peanuts,
there is no admission fee but please leave a generous donation. she gets no government money and takes care of the vet bills, upkeep, and everything out of her own pocket and whatever donations she gets.
very educational and fascinating tour for all ages. you can even go into one of the flights and the birds will land on you and you can feed them!!

By Lovemybirds |

Keri and her husband do an amazing job caring for 260 birds. Her love and compassion for each one of them is apparent. She is so kind to take her time throughout the tour answering each and every question. She lets you interact with the macaws. She even gave us some natural yucca for our cockatiel Sonny to enjoy munching on. She even gave us some pellets to see if we could try and transition over.
Thank you for taking the time you did and thank you for showing so much love to these amazing birds.

Great bird garden.

By MrASM |

This was amazing, so many birds, very vocal birds, all are excited to see you, many are free roamers, they will come and feed off your hands, my wife was very happy and me too, good place for couples or family outing, it is 2 hours, and it worth it, it is free but of course you are encouraged to donate, please do, bring with you unsalted raw almonds and bug spray

On our trip we decided to go, It was well worth it, I can not remember the woman who takes care of all those birds but let me tell you she knows a great deal, The place it just for birds. she had dogs walking around the most freindly dogs you could meet. what and how she takes care of all those birds is something. Before i forget take bug spray after all you are in Fl, She takes the time to ask any questions, she was even able to ask a questions in dealing with ours that the vet could not answer, The color's were just beatiful, she does accept donations, give what you can, all the food she give those birds are natural, enjoy the day the tour takes about two hours, she even gives talks about the plants growing,

Best Vacation

I loved the Bird Gardens of Naples. It's amazing how all they run on is donations. Their birds are beautiful, and have so many different personalities. Walking around you can ask questions and learn a lot of things you didn't know. Can't wait to go back! It's super easy to make a reservation by calling for a tour!

A Labor of Love

By Charlene H |

The owner of this sanctuary is passionate in caring and preserving the lives of parrots. She continues her legacy on donations and volunteering. I was intrigued to learn of the varying personalities and feelings of the parrot bird. Visit would have been better cut in half to 1 hour.

Been going to Bonita Springs for many years to vacation. We always try to find something educational for our daughter. This year we discovered the Bird Gardens, and was not disappointed. We learned so much about these birds. Enjoyed feeding and interacting with them. This is a nonprofit organization, with a wonderful, caring owner. I'm still surprised she knows all the birds by name. Call for tour reservation.

Amazing, unique experience

The people who own the Bird Gardens are very friendly when giving tours. It is very educational and entertaining. The birds are lively, healthy, and some of them can speak! It is a hands-on experience with a little nature walk at the end. We are definitely coming back!

An Extraordinary Bird Sanctuary

By MaryT C |

A magical place carved out of a woodsy, jungle-like place near a farm. Gorgeous birds and an informative and interesting tour. FYI, Bring blueberries and unsalted almonds BUT NO PEANUTS! As the grandparents of a youngster with a serious peanut allergy were happy to learn that this bird sanctuary is also a peanut free sanctuary which was very good news. Our whole family loved this tour. Bring a monetary donation to support this special place.

Great fun, especially for kids!

By TravelLink1 |

This is an off the beaten path, FREE experience that will make you see birds in a different light. Up close and personal with exotic birds that will outlive most of us. This is a rescue habitat that relies on donations. It’s loud! It isn’t fancy. It is fascinating! It’s also situated between the Corkscrew Sanctuary and Oak Farms so there is other cool stuff to see out there.

By NikkiP44 |

My first visit was in January 2012. I was living in Ft. Myers with all of my parrots except 2 macaws who were being boarded at an aviary near Tampa. I didn't visit it until we came to Florida. We boarded them at the facility because after seeing it I was not going to leave them permanently. As soon as I could I brought them to Ft. Myers but my neighbors weren't happy. A friend put me in touch with Keri and I visited and check the facility and Keri out thoroughly. What a difference! I brought my macaws and within 6 months all my parrots were there and so was I.
Watching the sanctuary grow over these almost 3 years has been amazing. Keriellen's dream of providing a true sancutary for parrots is coming to fruition. It grows larger and larger every year. The parrots are the number 1 priority, that is for sure! There will never be fancy landscaping because it does not benefit the birds. They deserve a natural environment (which in the summer is wet and overgrown).
I love to go on the tours because there is always something new to learn, about the parrots and the beautiful and varied plants.
My parrots and I have had our lives enriched by our visits to the Bird Gardens of Naples. Thank you Keri and Griff Lohrman.

Bird lovers paradise.

Wow this is a must see experience if you are a Bird lover. This is a by appointment scheduled visits only attraction. The owner and her wonderful Team of Volunteers greet you at the front gate whit an amazing collection of beautiful Birds in their arms and on their shoulders. After pleasant greetings and some education and instructions your quickly holding and cuddling a wide variety of well-behaved incredible Birds, this is truly an amazing experience with Birds. Then you begin the tour of this incredible Bird Sanctuary. You experience many different types of Birds. The variety and quantities of Birds was astounding all been cared for and treated very well. Going into the flight cage and meeting and feeding so many of these incredible birds was an amazing experience. Lots of information about each Bird and plethora of great information on Bird health, proper care and bird behavior. The Owner Keriellen and each of her Volunteer Team were extremely knowledgeable and caring and personally connected to each Bird within the facility. Keriellen clearly has more experience and knowledge about proper Bird care and Bird health then any veterinarian I have ever meet.

What a wonderful place.

The owner gave us a wonderful hour and a half tour on January 23rd. Keri
was so knowledgeable and passionate about the birds. I'm very glad that we found out about bird Gardens on tripadvisor.
