Take an informative tour or just head upstairs to the tasting area. You can sample a multitude of classics and exotic flavors then have a cone or cup. Delicious!
Fun items in the adjoining store and don't miss the historical display of local baseball players located on the first floor.

It's fun to look around, but it's more fun to taste! Stop by Texas own, Blue Bell creamery, Ice Cream Parlor, for a $1., very generous scoop of genuine Blue Bell in a huge varieties. YUMM!

It is a rite of passage to visit Blue Bell, but in between the last time I went and this visit to bring my 5 year old daughter, much has changed. I did not realize there is no longer a tour, but rather just an observation deck. Still interesting to watch. Nice gift shop. $1 per large scoop of ice cream, with many flavors unavailable to buy in stores! Visitors Center is nice. I would not say it is worth a special trip out if you live far away, but if you are driving through the area and can spare an hour, stop in!

Definitely a must see! My kids and I enjoyed this visit so much we may go back again for the ice cream! 😜 A good way to try all the flavors. There's an observation deck you can get a peep into the factory and watch them package the ice cream. The museum was nice along with the picturesque garden out front. If you're here you should definitely stop in.

Excellent tour and great ice cream I live here and was saddened when then they shut down. The flavors are coming back slowly

It's a fun place to visit and get a monster scoop of Bluebell deliciousness for only a dollar. You can't beat that.

You may be lucky enough, as we are, to live in a state where Blue Bell is sold. It is the best ice cream ever and a visit to the original creamery is just as satisfying!
There is a museum that tells the story of the company and how the ice cream is made. But more importantly, there is a store, ice cream parlor and fascinating view of the Blue Bell employees actually making and packing the product.
The store has every imaginable item stamped with the Blue Bell ice cream colors and name, including clothing. And for $1 you can get one large scoop of anyone of 24 different flavors of ice cream!
At this time of year it was not crowded. But in the warmer/hot months be prepared for crowds. But anytime of year, well worth a visit.

At least a dozen flavor choices, neat gift shop, clean restrooms. This was second trip and skipped the tour and went straight to the parlor.

My family of four and my sister's family visited during Christmas break. We were the 1st to arrive and were alone when we viewed the ice cream making process. The gentlemen that took us to the observation deck was so nice and answered every question we had. Of course we had to have the $1 ice cream for breakfast. There were a few flavors that are not available at stores which was nice to try.

We walked around the beautiful grounds taking lots of pictures before going to the observation deck where we watched the workers package the ice cream. They worked as a well-oiled machine! Afterward we got huge $1 scoops of ice cream that currently isn't being sold at our grocery so it was a real treat ! The gift shop is so nice-got lots of souvenirs!

During an overnight trip to Brenham we visited Blue Bell our first day in town. We enjoyed the visitor center and watching the factory from the overhead observation deck. The ice cream was the highlight though. You can't beat paying $1 per scoop, which were huge! The ice cream tasted so fantastic we stopped back the next day for a couple scoops on our way out of town. We'll be eating a lot more Blue Bell ice cream in the future! Yum!

We arrived too late to watch the manufacturing from
The observation deck. But ice cream is the reason to visit. Husband enjoyed his ice cream but I wasn’t able to get any. I realize BlueBell is all about their happy cows and they help support local by purchasing milk. BUT- when will they offer an ice cream that is non-dairy?

Most Texans say this is the best ice cream made. It's good but it's not exceptional. Their chocolate is not at the top of a chocolate lovers list. But! The place is clean and interesting. You learn how it's made and they have some historical pictures inside as well as a general store. You get to chose an ice cream flavor before leaving. It's worth a stop if you're in the area.

It doesn't get much better than blue bell ice cream! This tour was great and very informative! Even our 11 year old enjoyed this tour!!! Great gift shop at end and of course free ice cream! This is a great stop and is a different thing to do on your family vacation!

I went before the listeria breakout. They are no longer offering tours of this facility, I suppose to the publicity caused by the listeria contamination. A real shame as I really enjoyed it and looked forward to going again. Hopefully it will open up for tours again. Its in the heart of bluebonnet country and a good way to finish a day after seeing the wild flowers. If it reopens, take the tour.

Famous for its ice cream, Blue Bell is a great place ot stop if you are passing through Brenham. Watch them make ice cream, and visit the gift shop.

We took our family from out of state to the creamery. While I missed the tours, the new visitor center and the ice cream parlor are great! And the sound lady explaining the ice cream process was very sweet. Plus where can you get a good size scoop of Blue Bell for a $1?

For $1 you get a big scoop of ice cream of your choice of flavors of the day. And you must be pleased by the selections, as all are excellent quality and flavor. Makes me wanna live here instead of just visiting. May go back every day till time to return home. And it is S erved in a spotlessly clean environment by cheerful young servers.

Even though there was not a "tour", we felt we gained a lot of info from museum and viewing platform. The gift shop was fun, and we LOVED the $1 cup of ice cream. I couldn't eat it all.

The grandchild were visiting from Arizona and decide they wanted a cool treat. Of course living just minutes from Bluebell here in Brenham that's where I took them. They love going there and the cups of your choice of Ice Cream from a good selection of flavors is the best deal in town. Only $1.00 a cup. They enjoy it so much going to the factory favorite treat.
You can find people there from locals to some from other countries. Seems as if Bluebell Ice Cream brings us all together. 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

The Blue Bell Creamery is definitely worth 45 minutes-1 hour of your time if you are in the area. There are a couple of spots to take nice photos, nice gift shop, viewing area inside the factory with a helpful employee there to answer any of your questions and a large scoop of ice cream for only $1.00 with a large variety of flavors to choose from.

COVID had closed down the tours and the observation deck was closed, but what the hey, we were there for the ice cream! For only a dollar, you get a bowl of your favorite: here's a tip, those ice creams that you cannot buy in the grocery are marked so you can try something different!

Made a special detour on our way south through Texas. We were especially interested in their choice of dairy cows - Jerseys, as my daughter says, have a higher fat to protein ratio which yields a creamier product. And you know what? She’s right! I really enjoyed the pistachio almond which was loaded with nuts. Great stop. Next time, we’ll allow more time to take the tour.

Start at the Visitor's center to learn about the history of the creamery and then walk over to see the ice cream being packaged from an observation window - no photos allowed in this area. After that, enjoy a ice cream for only $1.00 per scoop. Lots of seating to relax as well as a gift shop. The grounds have lots of flowers and a few statutes to enjoy.

Everyone knows that Blue Bell Ice Cream is great! You can overlook the production line and they have have an ice cream parlor and gift shop. Great place to visit if you are in Brenham.

We finally can mark off my bucket list - was a little disappointed in the obversation area very limited on what you saw was hoping it was like Hershey Pennsylvania where they showed production from start to finish - only got to see the filling and packing phase - if you like coffee then you will love the coffee ice cream - to die for now on a mission to find it in the stores

We have visted here on several occasions. We have taken the tour which is a fascinating experience and have also stopped by for a visit to the ice cream shop on several occasions for ice cream,

Seeing this iconic business up close to understand how their famous ice cream is commercially produced and packaged is very interesting. Plus you get to sample their many flavors for a very reasonable price. And on top of that browse their wonderful fully stocked gift shop staffed by the nicest, knowledgeable team, make this a don't miss stop on any visit to the Brenham area. Also, I learned you have to sing to their cows first, to get them to join into the chorus!

It was fun to see the history, especially since I am from Texas. Was a bit disappointed the observatory was still closed due to Covid restrictions but understand.

In years past, there were bona-fide tours of the Blue Bell Creameries. Now, the viewing is strictly from a glassed-in observation area, looking down on the production floor. In the Visitors Centers, there are photographs of old-timey Blue Bell stores, etc. Unfortunately, there were only a few real "items." Everything else was static photos, which doesn't hold much attraction for children, and this is primarily a children's attraction. Upstairs in the "cafe," you can buy a small container of any of their ice cream flavors for $1. There are tables where you can sit. No other beverages or food items are for sale. There are two parking lots, one on either side of the building. Honestly, I was disappointed that there wasn't more on display such as old ice-cream makers, old posters for their ice cream, the old delivery trucks where ice-cream trucks went through neighborhoods selling ice cream, etc.

There weren't any tours offered when I visited Blue Bell but that was more than made up for when I discovered that I could get a generous scoop of ice cream in the parlor for only $1. No tax. No extras. $1. I went with the milk n' cookies flavor that was just delightful. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is you can only get scoops - no sundaes, no shakes, no cones. I prefer milkshakes but what can you do?

Best ice cream in the world! The Bride’s cake and cookies and cream are another level of amazing. Worth the trip over and over again.

Every visit to Brenham includes the ice cream parlor. The gift shop is wonderful and the ice cream can't be beat for $1. I'm still looking for that new Brides Cake sample.

Such a neat visit!! The visitor center has some historical displays up explaining how blue bell got its start. There are a few places to take selfies and you can even get yourself a paper blue bell hat. Once you're done there, head over to the ice cream parlor to grab a scoop of ice cream for $1 and if you're there before 2pm you can even go to the observation deck and watch the ice cream being made (no pictures or video here). Don't miss a stop at the gift shop for some blue bell souvenirs. It's definitely worth a stop and admission is free.

We've been on the tour before, so this time just went straight to the tasting room. Huge scoops of ice cream for $1. Choose between all the latest flavors.
I hope someday that Blue Bell will offer organic options and get away from the corn syrup...but any ice cream is good ice cream in the middle of August.

$1 scoops - enough said! My family has been feeling deprived because our favorites flavors are not yet back on the shelf! They had at least 2 dos. Flavors available. The staff is so courteous but I have to say everyone in Brenham is!

We stopped by along with a visit to Brenham itself. Being from the UK we only know BlueBell from the supermarkets in the southern US but the little museum, history and advertising built up the picture of how this brand is not just about ice cream but all the memories of families and summers and first dates that have been built around it. And of course the ice cream is delicious with generous dollar scoops and a cute shop. The observation deck is pretty limited and you do need to ask the staff what's happening as curiously the explanation of the process itself is in a separate building. What a lovely piece of American culture but don't forget to visit cute Brenham as well

I love the statues outside and the decor inside. Scoops of ice cream are only $1 each and they are big! Gift shop is expensive but they have some really cute things. I rated it a 4/5 because I feel like some of the new flavors should be offered and also that the observation deck should be open longer.

Disappointed that they still are not giving tours. Not much to see or do...a baseball museum of local players and pros. The gift shop is really nice and they have changes in merchandise often but the greatest part is the ice cream from the little Shop. Each scoop is only $1 and they fill the cup. I like trying different flavors. The campus is always manicured.

Blue Bell has an ice cream parlor where you can sample any of their flavors for only $1 per scoop. We took our granddaughter and we all had a great time.

We’d been here many years ago before the world changed and security was not so tight. The only tour of the factory now is the observation deck and it is small. Guides answer questions but an information booklet with diagrams would help greatly to understand the process. $1 ice cream scoops bigger than you’ve seen are a plus. Lots of photo ops and souvenirs - linger in the parlor and enjoy your ice cream - that’s mostly the “tour.”

Having tried the ice cream we were keen to do the tour, but unfortunately the factory is closed at the weekend when we were driving by. We still stopped to look at the pleasant grounds out front with the famous statue of the cow and the little girl. Super cute. Worth a five minute stop even if closed.

If you are ANYWHERE near Brenham Texas you have to stop in here!! Delicious! And the ice cream shop is adorable!!

The tour is quick to do and they include a cup of ice cream at the end with admission price. Fairly cheap to do, good day trip.

While there is no longer a tour of the plant you are still able to view the ice cream procedure from an deck where an employee is there to answer any questions. We enjoyed the visitor center where the history and how the business was started is shown, along with so many displays that are fun to check out. We had to stop and get some ice cream, sure was good. Some of the flavors are not found in the grocery store but are served in ice cream shops. Large selection to choose from, and you can get a sample bite to help you choose. Ice cream is a small charge of one dollar but it is a large serving. No cost to tour the facility.

Oh my. I love Blue Bell and I loved the tour. Particularly loved the visitor center where are learned the history and took lots of pictures.

Obviously a place to stop if you are in the area, and you can purchase shirts and other Blue Bell items you can't get anywhere else. But you can't see much of the process. In fact, on Saturday afternoon they even closed the observation area over the main floor (I guess because the plant wasn't operating during weekend). We are glad we stopped, but we did not have high expectations.

Great place to look around and get some delicious Blue Bell Ice Cream. The Observation deck is fun to go to and watch the process for processing and packaging the products

We truly enjoyed our stop at the creamery. Lots of great things in the shop and make sure you stop just to enjoy the ice cream! Nothing like the ice cream straight from the maker.

Many reviewers are bemoaning the fact that there aren't tours, but there is an observation platform above the packaging plant where you can stand and watch for as long as you'd like (during the hours it's open, of course) and when we were there there were 2 or 3 staff members standing there to answer questions. The people on the packaging line were friendly, waving up at the windows where visitors were peering down, and the whole thing is free, so I don't know why you wouldn't stop if you're in the area. We were driving from San Antonio to Midland, and stopping here took us out of our way, but we were glad we did.
From the observation platform we were able to see the machinery and the people involved in filling the cartons with ice cream, putting the tops on the cartons, then packaging (by box and/or plastic wrap) for sale in bulk. By asking the staff standing there, we were able to see when flavorings were added, find out why the ice cream is stored upside down, learn what temperature is required to keep the ice cream from melting, and get the answer to 2 popular questions - how many containers can they fill in a minute/hour/day (depending on who asked) and what flavor is most popular.
There's a great gift shop with everything you could imagine with the Blue Bell logo as well as regular gift shop items you'd find anywhere, without logos, and there are free old-fashioned paper hats (think soda fountains in the 50s?) if you're trying not to spend any money (remember - it's all been free to this point).
You'll want to be sure you have money for ice cream, though. There's a huge counter with 3 or 4 complete sets of the ice creams they're serving that day, so that multiple people can be served at the same time. And the best part is, it's just $1 per scoop. They'll let you taste before you buy, then they'll pack as many large scoops of however many flavors you want into a cup. What a deal! Where else are you going to get a scoop of quality ice cream for $1? (includes tax) If you lived in the area, it'd be worth coming just to sit and have some ice cream - without needing to go to the viewing area. You could do it all in under an hour, or you could take your time, enjoy yourself, and spend 2 hours. Whatever you have time for.

We stopped by on Friday afternoon, Spring Break, and it was crazy busy. I decided to walk up the two flights of stairs for a taste of Blue Bell ice cream. I was not alone. I was number thirty in just one line waiting to order the
one dollar per scoop ice cream.

Make your visit during the week for the best tours and sites of watching ice cream made right before your eyes. After the tour enjoy some of Texas' best flavors and a gift shop to please all ages. The tours are closed on the weekends.

Blue Bell only offered self-guided tours during our recent visit. You can read about the history of Blue Bell and watch ice cream processing from the observation deck. The highlight is definitely the ice cream in Blue Bell's Ice Cream Parlor. YUM! You can get flavors that are not available in grocery stores here for the low cost of $1 per cup. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!!

Even though the tours have stopped, it's still worth a trip. There are tons of photo opportunities in front of the creamery and inside the ice cream parlor. The gift shop is amazing! The ice cream parlor is clean, the staff is friendly, and the ice cream is delicious and only $1!!!

My best friend and I decided to visit Blue Bell Creameries on a Friday in June, and apparently the entire state of Texas wanted to do the same. Their main parking lot is not big enough to accommodate a ton of visitors, however there is another overflow lot nearby where we met an employee who allowed us to park in the employee parking area as it was stock full. The museum, grounds, observation deck, and parking are free, which is quite the affordable jaunt on a Friday. The observation deck is only open until 2p, so try to get there early to witness the facility in action. There's a gift shop, and a parlor where generous scoops are only $1---and that is probably one of the best moment of the trip. If you are not a fan of crowds this may not be a good place to visit, as there are also 85,000 kids running amok as well. Solace may be found earlier in the week, perhaps when the school year is in session, and earlier in the day.

Husband and I did a half-day getaway to Brenham, and this was one of our stops. Had never been there before, but glad we stopped in. We learned the history of this local icon, had the opportunity to view the packimg and shipping from a glassed-in hallway on the second floor, and they have a full selection of their ice creams in the second floor ice cream shop.
Was definitely worth the drive!
Please don’t be put off by their previous troubles. They are working very hard to re-gain their reputation. And this plant being locally owned and operated, they keep a lot of people working!

Love Blue Bell ice cream. I took my oldest son to the factory 6yrs ago when they still did guided tours, so we decided to take my younger son this morning. It was nice and quiet morning. Not too crowded and still lots to see even without the guide. The visitors center has tons of fun facts about Blue Bells past and some photo ops. The baseball museum (just a room on the 1st floor of the parlor) is interesting. Upstairs is the ice cream parlor that has scoops for $1 (even parlor only flavors), a gift store with really adorable items (much better than most gift stores), and the observation deck. The observation deck is a room with windows overlooking portion of the factory. You see actual employees filling containers with ice cream and packing them in boxes to be frozen and shipped. My kids (12 and 3) had fun. We took our time and did/saw everything and it only took about 1.5 hrs (again not a crowded day) wish they did the tours but still a very nice morning stop for the kiddos. (A fun and yummy way to beat the Texas heat!!)

We have been intending to visit the Blue Bell creamery in Brenham for many years. We were disappointed that they no longer offer tours but they do afford visitors an observation deck to view assembly line packaging of various size containers of ice cream. The facility can accommodate a couple of busloads of people at a time. Their offer of nearly a half-pint serving of ice cream of various flavors for $1.00 was a real treat.

We stopped in to see what all our Texas friends were talking about with Blue Bell. It did not disappoint! A BIG scoop of ice cream was only a dollar! Great value! There is a really nice gift shop with something for everyone. The factory is closed right now, not sure when it will reopen. They do have a small local baseball team display when you walk in downstairs. Not much else to see at this site. The ice cream is why you come. We stopped twice, once on the way into town and again on the way out.

Stopped for a scoop of ice cream on way home from College Station. Also a fun and historic place to stop. Good family and friends trip.

We have lived a short distance from this Texas landmark for many years but never visited. Only the ice cream parlor and store were open on Saturday but that was what we came for. For a dollar you can get a huge sample of any of their ice creams. We tried banana pudding, strawberry cheesecake, and sea salt caramel. All were excellent of course. Fast service and a clean dining area as well. Perfect.

The creamery is sooo spotless, the employees are so happy, and they have the cutest gift shop! It was fun to learn the history of Blue Bell Creamery. We learned the dairy cow statue had no name, so we named her Claire! The association with college is long lasting and so productive. You won't regret going.

Lots of little kids, very loud, but a fun stop to taste and see where that ice cream comes from in Texas. Great parking, historic buildings, and manicured grounds out front. Perfect for family fun.

Best ice cream available. There are displays of the company history but obviously the main attraction is the ice cream parlor. Excellent ice cream at a reasonable price.

Blue Bell ice cream is iconic and this is ground zero for experiencing the creamy treats where they were conceived. YUM!

We made this quick stop while in Brenham for a Baseball tournament. It proved to be the perfect reward for our group of hot and dirty boys! Anyone who comes to Brenham must visit this iconic landmark, if only for the unlimited tastes of all your favorite ice creams!!

Glad to see the factory is up and running. Tasted a new cookie flavor and got to view the factory floor from the new viewing area.
Lots of neat Blue Bell stuff in the store as well. What a great company and family business.

Visitor Center offers a self guided tour. The creamery is right next door. An elevator makes it accessible to those who are unable to walk up two flights of stairs. No pictures or videos are allowed in the area where you can see them working filling ice cream containers. Make sure you get some of their tasty ice cream; it is ONLY $1 p/scoop.

July 2010 was my first visit! On our way to San Antonio. A factory tour, one free BIG scoop at the end of the tour. Each additional scoop just one dollar! We moved to Brenham in December 2015. Since then, we have visited The Creamery many times.
While the tours had been discontinued, we still enjoyed the dollar a scoop ice cream and the gift store. SURPRISE! An observation gallery has been added! We can now watch the finally packaging! And, did I mention, the ice cream here is still only a dollar a scoop?!

Nice and cute ice cream factory, but don’t expect a big thing. The tour through the actual factory is super short, can’t see most of the things. But in my case it did compensate the fact that the floor where the ice cream is for sale is super nice, very well decorated, with walls that tells you about the history of Blue Bell. Also they had pretty much all the flavors the offer nationwide and the cashiers were very nice. They let us try all the kids wanted... which can be annoying and they really were super sweet. It’s a fun thing to do with kids.

We made a point to visit the creamery since we LOVE Blue Bell ice cream. It was so nice and clean. We were able to view the making of the ice cream and packaging through the observation deck. You can buy the biggest scoop of Ice Cream of your choice for $1!!!! The gift shop had some of the cutest stuff in it. We loved our visit and will probably visit again if we ever make it back to Brenham. The kids LOVED it.

Really fun experience visiting Blue Bell. Make sure you arrive before 2PM so you can see the production line. There is a very fun ice cream parlor with about 16 different flavors and each scoop is only $1.00. They have a small gift shop with an array of items to purchase. Great place to stop and enjoy some ice cream and see the buildings of Blue Bell!

We got there close to closing time, so didn't get to do the tour. We did get to enjoy a $1 cup of Blue Bell ice cream, though!

This is a required visit for all Texans. I don't know why I waited so long to go to the creamery. It is adorable and the ice cream is so good. We got to see one of the production rooms but the highlight was the ice cream itself.

It has a large area where you can buy you choice of ice cream. I tried 3 different flavors for $1 each. Yum.
There is also an area where you can look down on the working machines and employees. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and the efficiency of the machines and the workers.

What a neat and cool place to check out . They have a nice showroom of blue bell memorabilia in the main room and then you can stroll over to the other end to oversee the actual ice cream factory in action . It was pretty interesing, even for old folks like us . They have a well stocked gift shop with some really unique souvenirs. The best part is the ice cream counter where you can get a large , and I mean l a r g e scoop of any flavor of their ice cream for just $1.00 !! A nice break to get away from the heat for awhile

The Creamery is worth the visit if you are in the area or are interested in historical nature of this famous ice cream creamery, but you might be slightly disappointed if you arrive on Saturday. That is because the Observation Deck and Visitors Center are closed. The landscaping is very nice with flowers, statues, and antique cars. So, that leaves the small but nice baseball museum, the gift shop and parlor. However, you just can't beat a $1 cup of your favorite ice cream. Sue Ellen, hostess, was making the rounds, chatting with all and was fantastic. The main parking lot is quite small and not nearly large enough to handle a bust visiting day. I have visited Blue Bell twice in the last 3 years and really hasn't changed much.

Although they are not doing tours, it is worth a stop in Brenham for a scoop of Blue Bell Ice Cream. The ice cream is inexpensive and yummy. There is also a cute store with lots of fun Blue Bell items and t-shirts.

I am a blue bell fanatic. I just had to go see it. I loved their country store and the ice cream parlor! I would recommend going to anyone who loves delicious ice cream and nice people!

As expected ice cream was great. At their ice cream parlor you can get a big double scoop for only a dollar. Couple dozen of flavors to choose from. Been back several times. Highly recommend.

We went there this morning. They are open from 8 am to 5:00 pm on Monday through Fridays. When we drove in I thought they must be closed since there were no cars in the parking lot. We went in and there was a very large room with the history of Blue Bell all around the room. Some of the displays had videos with them. They told us there that there was an ice cream parlor at the other end. We went down there. The ice cream parlor and gift shop are on the second floor with a stairs and elevator to go up there. The large area had seating at square granite tables for over 100 people. They had a selection of about 20 flavors for as the sign said a dollar a scoop. But really they gave you a small bowl of ice cream for a dollar. I had mint with chocolate chips, so yummy!!!!!!!!
The gift shop had many T-shirts and all sorts of other items. There was a canvas picture of a cow that was wonderful, but I couldn't take him home since I didn't have wall space for him.
It was a pleasant short stop.

The blue bell creamery is worth a stop. As another reviewer stated, the museum is so so, but watching the observation floor where you can watch them package and ship multiple varieties and flavors of blue bell ice cream at one time was fascinating. There were also several peple there to answer any questions you may have about the process. The observation floor and msueum were all free, but the best part is the dollar scoop of ice cream. These dollar scoops are good size scoops my family of four bought five scoops of ice cream to all share and we did not finish all of them. They also offered a sample taste of a flavor before you buy so you didnt have to spend the dollar to try a flavor. In addition, there were flavors there not available in stores.

The site is a good little stop on a road trip and gives you a good glimpse on the process Blue Bell has. You can snap a couple pictures with some statues and get to view the process on the observation deck and enjoy $1 ice cream cups. It’s a great stop to stretch your legs and learn a bit about Blue Bell at the same time.

The Blue Bell visitor/history center is somewhat interesting; due to previous production problems, there are no creamery tours; we were told that any tours will not start again until 2017 or 2018; you go to the second floor of the main building to get some ice cream; $1 for generous scoops of oh-so-good ice cream; throw your diet out the window here.

The tours are still closed, but the gift shop and ice cream parlor are open. You can get a scoop of the world's best ice cream for only $1 per scoop.
Not sure when tours will reopen. An added bonus for any baseball fan is the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame is located on the 1st floor. Mostly pictures of each inductee from Texas. You will see players like Nolan Ryan and Roger Clements.

Love Blue Bell so this was a great way to see the operations and eat some ice cream. Guide was entertainig but full of all Blue Bell facts.

Fun place to visit and you can try out different flavors for small fee! Located in Brenham and there are many interesting places to visit in the area! highly recommend the visit!

Great visit to the Mecca of ice creameries in Texas. A nice visit (but no tours still, July 2017), and better ice cream at $1 a scoop.....scoops were XL!
Wish they would open up tours, but worth the stop just for the awesome ice cream.

Came here when visiting brenham for the day. It was awesome to see Blue Bell and read about their history. I wish there was a tour of the facility rather than a self-guided visitors center, but the $1 scoop of ice cream was amazing! Also, the observation deck is worth seeing.

We always have fun watching the kids enjoy the ice cream and I like their gift shop! The pecan pralines &Cream was worth taking lactaid to eat, First ice cream I have had since the last BlueBell visit!

Love, the ice cream and this place was great and very busy! If you love ice cream make sure to stop in. Great prices!

What a great place to learn where our ice cream comes from. And it does not get any fresher than right from the dairy itself. Taking the tour is great but it is also great just stop in for $1 ice cream.

What can I say about Blue Bell, what a fantastic facility, the ice cream was extremely reasonable. The place was spotless and full of people. All safety measures were being done for everyone's well being.

The museum had lots of open space, is well thought out and designed. I especially enjoyed the section on the history of the creamery.
The ice cream parlor had an old fashioned look to it with lots of room to spread out. At only $1 per scoop, you can try lots of flavors. My personal favorite was the Sea Salt Caramel.
Next time I'm in this area, I'I'm hoping the tours are offered again.
Note: there wasn't any oversized vehicle parking. The day I visited was not crowded and they didn't mind that I took 4 parking spaces in front of the building. There's another parking lot behind the museum building (on the north side, I think) that might have more space.

Take the tour with a little kid and watch their eyes light up when they see all that ice cream! You’ll feel like a kid again when you grab a big cone at the end.

The creamery doesn't have tours, but they have an observation deck that you can watch the process through. The staff was very knowledgeable....answered all our many questions. We learned so much. Was surprised when he said they aren't a 24 hour operation. Fun for kids too . Of course, ice cream tasting...and a BIG scoop for only a buck!!

You got to see how ice cream is produced and then could sample the flavors currently being made. A cup of ice cream was only $1. So our lunch that day consisted of 2 cups each of our favorites.

As always a generous scoop for a dollar. Lots of folks here for St. Patrick's Day. It is highly recommended.

I stopped by during a break of a business trip and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The place is clean and the I enjoyed the ice cream (rocky road).

We stopped here on a cross country extended vacation. The woman working in the visitors center was very welcoming and we enjoyed chatting with her. The small museum area highlights the history of the Blue Bell company. After looking at this, we walked over to the observation deck area. No photos or video is allowed in this area. It was fun to watch all the machines working and the employees. There was a friendly "guide" who answered questions and stood with us as we observed. I think we could have watched all afternoon, it really was neat to see the machinery. After we were done we all ordered one scoop of ice cream from a menu of about 20 flavors. Each scoop cost $1.00. We we're appreciative that the price was affordable for our family. This was a fun stop to spend an hour or so at.

I really wanted to take my kids here, but was sad to see that Tours are cancelled. Upon googling, I found an article from Jun2015 stating: "Blue Bell’s ice cream factory in Brenham is usually a top tourist attraction during the summer, but the tours have been canceled while the company works on getting listeria out of the facility."
I do hope they start the tours up again. I don't see it worth the drive to the factory just to try out some scoops of ice cream, unless there is a tour.

Here is the deal. He had a good time and enjoyed the ice cream (Bluebell has great ice cream) but we were under the impression there was a tour you could take (used to be guided but turned into a self guided tour- fine) but, upon arrival, it was discoverered that,no, there is no tour but there is an observation deck.... that my four year old looked at for 3.5 minutes and then we were like, whelp, moving on. Very disappointing. I guess the biggest reason for my poor review is NOT to beat up Blue Bell but to help peeps on TA to understand what you are getting. It was really a case of not meeting expectations versus being a bad experience. Does that make sense? I would recommend it if you are driving thru Brenham but, as a destination for us, it was a disappointment.

If you are passing thru Brenham and need an ice cream fix....THIS IS IT! All for one dollar per scoop! They give wonderful tours that are quite educational and it includes free ice cream at the end. Heck of a deal!

We love Blue Bell! This time we brought along our cousins who had never been to the factory before. They looked around the museum a little but we didn't waste time getting to the real reason for our visit, the ice cream! There were even more flavors to try this time. If you can manage to stay out of the gift shop (good luck) then they only cost is a very generous "scoop" of ice cream for one dollar.

My favorite vanilla ice cream for only $1 for a huge scoop!!! Plenty of tables and chairs for visiting while enjoying the ice cream of your choice. Interesting displays and gift shop too. Tour of the factory available too.

The ice cream is creamy and delicious. The observation area is interesting too, to see how its made and packaged.

Stopped at the Blue Bell ice cream factory for the tour. Had a great time here. The factory tour overlooked a portion of the production lines. You can see the ice cream being packaged. They were producing a Birthday party ice cream in small cups today in the tour area. If you look closely, you can see the intricate workings of the line. The candy going into the hopper, cups being filled with ice cream, lids, employees bagging the cups, boxing, and off to the freezer. Looks like a well oiled machine running. Employees were working together to make sure the line ran smooth. There was a friendly employee to describe what you are seeing or answer your questions. Off to the ice cream parlor to sample the 30 or so different available flavors. A very generous scoop of your favorite flavor costs only $1.00. There is also a gift shop, local baseball museum, and a visitor center with the history of Blue Bell and some vintage items from the history of Blue Bell. I always appreciate when a company values their history, and shares their production processses with the public. I recommend a stop here for an hour or so when you are in the area. Factory tour closes at 2pm, but ice cream parlor is open until 5 pm.

Being a Texan, going to Blue Bell is a right of passage. So, going to Brenham was an opportunity not to be missed. I was told that the tour of the plant, the museum, and the free sample haven't been reopened. What is left is a Texas baseball coach hall-of-fame, and a store with mostly advertisements for BB. i.e. tee-shirts, bumper stickers, refrigerator magnets. I have never understood why someone would pay to be a billboard. There is also a counter where for a dollar you can get a scoop, not free but real cheap.

This was a very interesting stop on our vacation. We were able to watch production of our favorite ice-cream brand. There was an employee that helped explain what we were watching and the different machines. And...we were able to sample different flavors of ice cream.

A must see attraction in Brenham. Be sure to stop in at the visitor center for info and to listen to the story of this company. Plenty of hands on things for kids to enjoy. Then move on to the ice cream parlor for a taste of their flavor of the day, or purchase a large scoop from among many flavors on the menu for the day. It will be the best dollar you'll spend that day. Be sure to get the overhead view from the observation deck where you can watch the products being packaged and made ready for shipment. A gift shop is also in the same area. Expect to spend about one hour on site.

Miss not being able to do he factory tours. They also charge per scoop of ice cream, where it was free with your tour.

Took my wife and two teenagers. My wife and I enjoyed it more than the kids. They have a small history museum which we enjoyed but the kids could care a less. After that we went to the store, observation deck and had a scoop at the parlor. It was a night time. You can be in and out in about an hour.

they used to do tours but now they stopped. So if you are going to tour the facility you can only look from the observation deck. Look at the store hours and call in advance.

If you happen to be in the area and want $1 scoop of ice cream, stop by. I don’t suggest traveling lots of miles or hours to stop for about 15 mins. We did go 2 hours out of our way to visit but we felt it was part of our drive looking at wildflowers. No tour are available but you can go to observation deck and watch ice cream being packed. There is someone available to answer questions. The Visitor Center has short films and lots of pictures explaining the beginning of Blue Bell and history of Homemade Vanilla. I know why called Blue Bell and what brought about Homemade Vanilla. Gift shop has big variety of gifts.
NOTE OF INTEREST: Flavor “Milk and Cookies” (bits of chocolate chip cookies swirled in Vanilla) was voted employees favorite (excluding Homemade Vanilla) and can only get a taste at the Ice Cream Shop. The scoops are generous for $1 and your can taste flavors.

Good day trip from Houston. My 6 year old son liked the ice cream, but the factory "tour" (really an observation) wasn't that interesting to him. Overall, a good visit to pass an hour or so.

Went with friends and enjoyed some nice ice cream about half price from what you pay on town. Helpful guide. See it made from above. Nice.

A nice experience for all. Children really enjoy especially the ice cream shop. All kinds of flavors, $1 per scoop, nice gift shop. Lots of walking so be prepared.

Always a great tour! We always have to take visitors when they come. Sadly it is just not the same company though since the listeria fiasco.

First of all, l didn't give it a 5 because the tours were no longer available. But, don't let that keep you from visiting BB! The grounds and buildings were clean, neat and inviting. A scoop of ice cream is only $1.00! Can't beat that! Cute gift shop as well!

Great stop for a hot Texas day! Didn't have a tour, but fun looking around. Love the ice cream parlor and my favorite ice cream...vanilla! I especially love their quote: "We eat all we can, and we sell the rest!"

Sorry to find out they are not doing tours of the creamery. We came to Brenham just for that. The gift shop is nice.

You can no longer take tours but there is an observation area. The staff are very friendly and the museum is informative.

This place has been on my wife's must visit since we got married 24 years ago. We have been through the area and something has just not been correct in order for us to stop and visit, coming through on a weekend or just after hours. This time I made sure we stayed in the area and caught the creamery on a Friday during work hours.
Nice little spot to visit. Enjoyed watching them make some cookies and creme and then trying their "Peachy Peach" in the ice creme shop for $1.
Checked that off... :)

- Free admission
- Free visitor parking
- Cute gift shop on the second floor
- No photos allowed of the ice cream production
- Self-guided tour lasting less than 45 minutes
- Little free library provided
- Baseball museum provided on the first floor

Anyone living in the south knows about Blue Bell. Visiting the production facility is great. We brought our kids and met up with friends from Dallas for the day. The staff are very nice. There is lots of neat history on the company in the Visitor's Center. You can visit the parlor and try different flavors for $1 per scoop. The observation deck is neat to visit as you can see the ice cream being made and packaged for shipping. The employees even wave to your kids. Highly recommend a visit here.

Great place to stop for ice cream. Factory tours aren't currently taking place but the country store and visitors center is still available to visit.

BlueBell creameries is one of those significant attraction along 290 that has become as one may deem a mandatory stop just as Buc-ees is for gas. The staff is friendly and there is even a baseball hall of fame museum. they have flavors not available in store which is really neat.

Blue Bell has always been my favorite and I loved that my husband surprised me with the trip to the creamery. We loved the observation deck where we could watch the ice cream being packaged, and the efficiency in which everything was ran. The gift shop was good also, if a little pricey. You can buy scoops of ice cream for $1.00 each but they didn’t have any unusual flavors at the time so we didn’t get any. I do wish they had samples of all their flavors so I could taste them before I bought any in the store. The visitor center had the history of the company on the wall, and videos to watch. A very pleasant day and we really enjoyed the creamery!

We visit the Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham and learn all about how Texas’ favorite sweet treat is made! It was a fantastic tour of the factory that also consisted of the Tour Center which is filled with historical Blue Bell pictures, videos, advertising and more. At the end of the factory tour we were given a generous scoop of ice cream from the Parlor. There is a Country Store where you can find unique gifts and logo items. Great family stop!

A wonderful self guided tour with pictures, videos and displays to explain how Blue Bell got started. The observation deck allows you to view the actual process as workers are doing their jobs in the facility. Plus you can end you tour with a bowl of ice cream of your choice for only $1.00.

So a dollar a scoop !!
Four adults and we wore the hats and acted like kids
We had
1. Triple chocolate
2. Sea Carmel
3. Blackberry Cobbler
All good and wait for this
They let you taste as many as you want!!!!!

My wife and I have been to Blue Bell several times over the years, and it is always a pleasure to make the short trip from Montgomery, TX (it's a little less than an hour) through beautiful countryside. The tour is long enough to give you a good idea about how the ice cream is made, and the ice cream parlor always has a nice array of ice cream available (free if you take the tour, or $1 a cup if you just want to hit the parlor).

There isn't much of a tour just an observation platform. We didn't know there was a museum & didn't see it. Grounds very pretty with sculptures. Can't beat the delicious ice cream for $1.00 / scoop!

After visiting some friends in Bryan/College Station, we were going to head home but I just had to make a detour to finally see where the magic happens. My dad recently passed away and he loved his Blue Bell. He ate a huge bowl every single night for most of the 15+ years he lived with us up until about a year ago. I used to joke that when he stopped eating Blue Bell, they'd notice a drop in sales.
When we got there, on a Friday, it was packed. Apparently a lot of people have as good a taste in ice cream as we do! We started in the museum side and there are a lot of old photographs, displays tracking the history of the brand through the years, etc... Then we walked over to the other side of the plant to where you can watch the creamery in operation making and packaging ice cream from an elevated observation area (behind glass). That was pretty neat. There is also a gift shop and, the best part is where you can buy ice cream by the scoop for $1 a scoop. And these are BIG scoops! Also, they have some flavors that aren't sold in the store. I had cinnamon and it was superb! My wife had the chocolate almond mocha. There were lots of tables to sit at but there were a lot of people too and that area was full. But we found a couple of chairs and shared a table with some other folks.
There is also a display of Texas high school baseball coaches. Not sure what's up with that or why it's there. I didn't spend any time looking at it. I was there for the ice cream!
It was a great way to spend a couple of hours and I've finally been to the home of the place that produces that ice cream that my dad loved so much. (And I think it's pretty good too!)

Blue Bell Ice Cream is one of Brenham's icons. The ice cream parlor and gift shop are exceptional--not mention the delicious ice cream in many flavors! The tour is very interesting. Great attention has been paid to the architecture and statuary. A must-visit if you are coming to Washington County, Texas!!

BB is not doing tours yet following the recalls, but it is fun to visit the small museum and separate shop, where you can buy ice cream. Cost is just $1 for a generous cup, and some of the flavors are not sold in stores, making it more fun.

There are some things that are uniquely Texan and Blue Bell ice cream is one of them.
We were on the 290 to Brenham and had to stop at the museum and sample their products of course.
I love the old delivery truck and bronze statue out front.

It's always nice to visit a Texas tradition, Blue Bell Creameries. They have a very nice gift shop and a great selection of ice cream to try while your there.

great for kids of all ages. You even get free ice cream. It is the best tour in the area. The tour guides are awesome

My wife and I stopped for a quick sweet treat as we passed through on the way to our bed and breakfast. Same delicious ice cream and great service as always. And probably listeria free!

For many Texans a visit to the home of Blue Bell ice cream is a pilgrimage, and I am no exception. It was interesting to watch the process, and to learn more about the history of this iconic Texas company. They have a very nice gift shop and do a great job presenting their company.

Members of Christian Classic Cruisers car club were on the road again. We departed Fort Worth early on Friday morning with the destination being Brenham, Texas and the Blue Bell Creamery. We arrived about 1:30 in the afternoon. If you are planning an outing to this wonderful spot, be there before 2:00. Twenty-one of us enjoyed the production observation deck and asked several questions of the employees that were eager to provide explanations and answers. Then, we were blessed to have all of the $1 scoops of ice cream, any flavor that you wanted to eat...I got my share!! Never leave with take-out, it is so much easier to carry, if you just eat it ALL while you are there!! :)

This was a great place to take family of all ages. There is great photo opportunities and pretty murals. And of course Blue Bell Icecream is the best and only $1 a scoop. The flavors available are their more popular flavors but everyone found something they liked. It was so neat to look at the observation deck with all my kids. There was a nice worker there to answer all my questions. Cute town full of nice people and the drive there is beautiful Texas countryside. I can't wait to visit again.

It was fascinating to watch them make and pack the ice cream. The visit did not last long because you view the creamery from above. The fre dip of ice cream was a very nice gesture.

A couple of interesting small museum type displays on the history of the creamery and on baseball connections to the area. A very entertaining overlook of the production floor below. And last but not least, one dollar per very generous scoop ice cream sampling.

How do folks survive that cannot purchase BlueBell? Funtime plus tasting a huge selection of their prized icecream!

Got here at 8 Am when it opened. Self guided tour . You can go to the visitor center, gift shop and observation deck. They have 1$ scoops to buy as well. Cool set up everyone enjoyed everything. The people that work here made the visit great. Will be back.

If you are anywhere near Brenham you must stop at Bluebell. Sadly their fabulous tours are no longer running, those were amazing, but you can still get a dose of history and a $1 scoop of delicious Blue Bell, some flavors are only available at parlors! A Texas must see!

I have visited this place several times and always enjoy bringing friends a visitors to this Creamery. You can watch a movie and get a tour and even at the end get an ice cream, in the ice cream parlor! . Yum!, You can take pictures outside with the black truck and you can find some sculptures that are beautiful (A girl and a cow) .

Hopefully they will start offering tours again.
The visitor's center gives a tour through pictures on the process of making ice cream and distribution.
The ice cream parlor was only had about 20 people there at 4:15. We enjoyed two different kinds of ice cream- $1 for a good-sized portion.

Cup of ice cream for $1 a scoop??? Watching them package Blue Bell, fun Blue Bell themed stuff in the gift shop, some old "Blue Bell memorabilia" that reminds you of old slogans, etc. ? Heck, yes! I'm glad we stopped!

We stopped on our way to Austin. The kids loved the observation deck and, of course, the scoop of ice cream in the parlor afterward. Really reasonable at $1 per scoop.

It was a hot day and we walk around outside a lot that morning! Blue Bell creameries was one of activity for the afternoon! We enjoy so much and keep smiling! The price is very reasonable. Highly recommended if you are near by!

We stopped here on our way to a Hill Country Resort destination. Great stopping off place for a treat. Large "one" scoop cup of ice cream for only 1 dollar. That's a big scoop, I tell ya. Of course everything is bigger in Texas. Do stop if you get a chance, you won't be disappointed.

Don’t miss going to the Blue Bell Factory while in Brenham! It is an interesting stop explaining how Blue Bell came to be. And you can purchase some yummy ice cream for $1. They have a souvenir store also. Only downside is if you go on the weekend they aren’t working in the factory so the observation deck is closed. Plenty to see though without it and who can say no to ice cream! Plus they have a baseball museum on the property also!

Great place to spend an hour or so...Very friendly staff. The tour ends with your favorite flavor of ice cream...for a small fee.

Service was rushed and availability of the full product line was limited. I tried the camo cream and was not overly impressed. The camo cream is simply a twist pn Neapolitan.

We loved Blue Bell, it was very clean and we were the only ones there (7) no tour during the pandemic 😔 we did enjoy some ice cream

The morning we arrived at the Creameries we were the only family there visiting. We went upstairs and were greeted by a very nice guy. He walked us back to the window to where we could see how the ice cream was packaged and he told us the history of Blue Bell and how the process goes for making the ice cream and where all the ingredients come from. It was very informative, and after seeing that you get a nice sized cup of ice cream for just a buck. My kids loved the gift shop and bought themselves quite a few souvenirs for them selves and their friends. This is a great place for a family to visit!

Nice spacious facility and friendly staff explained the manufacturing/packaging process. I was impressed with the flavir selections and large size tasting for only $1

A good place to take a quick tour and get a cup of icecream. Its something worth seeing if you need a few hours to kill.

Went on a visit to this and had a thoroughly good time being told about the production of ice cream. It was very cheap to visit, and being a 'senior' had reduced entry. The large scoop of ice cream you have at the end is just so worth the visit!

This is a real down home operation. Everyone one was so pleasant. Observation Deck was closed. Need to call before to see if is open on the day you plan to visit. Ice cream is awesome. That is the only kind I buy (live in TX). Gift shop many many items to choose from. My husband found a coat that he just loves.
Make a date with this see this wonderfun operation

We enjoyed a great cone of ice cream after viewing the exhibits. The Observation Deck closed at 3:00, so we missed getting to watch it being made. Nevertheless it was definitely worth a late afternoon stop on our way to Lockhart!

Due to lane closures from construction on I45 We took a detour returning to Fort Worth from Galveston. We we saw the GPS was routing us towards Brenham our instant thought was Blue Bell. The friendly staff and restful atmosphere provided a relaxing intermission on the trip. The observation deck provides a nice view of the interesting production line. Best of all the Ice Cream Parlor with a large selection of flavors. A very generous scoop is only $1. Whether taking a day trip or stopping while passing through you will enjoy yourself like a kid in an ice cream store.

Loved the $1 ice cream but ordered chocolate and got triple chocolate. Told kid I just ordered regular chocolate and he said they were out. My grandson didnt like the triple chocolate. The kid behind the counter should have said something up front! My grandkid just likes basic flavors so went and got his second fave.. vanilla. It really is a good deal for only $1 for a large scoop though. Observation deck ok but miss the tours and getting to see more of the operation. Seems like few years back they had more observation areas open. Gift shop pricey but cute! Displays inside and out good. Lots of photo ops!

It’s always fun to take the grandchildren to the Blue Bell Parlor to get a bowl of ice cream. You can’t beat the ice cream or the price. The gift shop also has great items.

Good Place to go for ice cream. Many choices, big scoop for $1.00. Only go when observation deck is open to get the ice cream as they don't have tours other then looking through a glass & watching the assembly line. Would of liked to have more of a selection on ice cream bowls but overall this was a great shop if you like to eat good flavors, big quantities, & cheap ice cream.

The visitors center was very informative, mappings out the timeline of the company. We were able to visit the observation deck and watch “cookies and cream” be packaged. We had all of our questions answered about the process then got to enjoy a scoop of ice cream. I recommend the triple chocolate :)

We love Blue Bell Ice Cream. We had been here several years ago (before the plant was shut down) when they still did tours. We really miss that. You can go and view some of the operation via an observation deck. But it just isn't the same as a tour. For $1 you do get more than a scoop of ice cream. There were only 16 flavors offered and it wasn't anything I hadn't tried before but it was still good. Our kids enjoyed it.

We finally were able to stop into Blue Bell Creameries today for their delicious ice cream. We couldn’t tour but were able to walk the floors, see the gift shop and get their $1 scoop of ice cream. It’s more than a scoop so know that ahead of ordering. It’s a small cup size container and you are given several scoops of one flavor to put into the container. This company has been making ice cream since 1911. Outside of the building is one of the first refrigerated trucks, the century tree, a little free library, visitor center, and the kids sized sculpture of a girl and cow statue. Downstairs in the building is the Texas high school baseball association museum.

We always stopped by for ice cream after the boy's swimming lessons. Large cups of ice cream for$1. Brenham friendly. Don't miss it.

It was definitely an awesome place to visit. However by the time I reached there , around 3:40 pm, the observation deck was already closed. So, we missed the fun part of the tour to the creamery. You will be able to buy ice cream only for a dollar 💵. Nice family environment. Definitely recommended.

We took the grand kids to see the Blue Bell Creameries. They wanted to see how ice cream is made. There is a nice visitor center where you can learn about the history of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Then you can go next door to the Observation deck where you can look down to the production floor and watch the ice cream being made.
It is an interesting trip. The best part is afterwards you can go to the ice cream parlor and and order some of the best ice cream in the country. You enjoy whichever flavor you want.
This place is a destination for many school field trips. The observation deck closes at 2 pm so go early. It is worth the stop even if you have to travel some distance.

Visited the Blue Bell factory for the first time. No tours are being done but they have observation deck to see process. And of course great ice cream to sample. Worth the trip.
Kids would really enjoy swing the process.

We visited here on our first visit. I think it's something all ice cream lovers should do. Tasting room was the best!

We went on a Saturday thinking to get a tour. You should know that they no longer give tours. Also, while they are open on Saturdays during the summer, you should know that the observation deck is CLOSED so you would basically be driving out there to look around the visitor center and get $1 ice cream. Make sure you go during the week if you want to see anything of the factory. We were very disappointed to say the least.

We stopped by Blue Bell Creameries to watch the ice-cream production lines at the observation deck, which closes at 2pm. There is no tour offered, but an employee is available to answer questions. No photos are allowed at the observation deck area.
Visitors can try new flavors of ice-cream at $1 per scoop. The staff constantly replenish ice-cream with a large variety of flavors from the creameries. They are freshly made and some of the flavors are not generally available in the market. There is a nice dining area for visitors to sit down and enjoy the ice-cream.
The visitor center has informative exhibits of the history of Blue Bell, and insightful videos.
Be sure to visit the beautiful garden at the front of the creamery building. It is well-maintained with pretty flowers and sculptures - a great place to take photos.
Overall, it is a great experience - definitely worth visiting when one is in Brenham!

We had a beautiful young exchange student return from the Czech Republic to visit us this summer. As you know, It's HOT in Louisiana in July. She mentioned how much she loves ice cream and that struck a nerve. We L-O-V-E Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream. So we drove to Brenham, Tx to tour the Blue Bell Creamery. Put this stop on your list of things to enjoy even if you don't have a sweet tooth.
The entire facility is spectacular a their staff will answer all your questions. You'll see them make and ship ice cream in different size containers and see how automated the entire creamery is...with the supervision of a well trained staff. But THEN...
It's onto the Ice Cream Parlor upstairs (elevator or stairs). This is the best tasting dollar you'll ever spend. In 90 minutes, you'll be cool, calm, and creamed! Have fun and eat all you can!

PIcked up t-shirts in the gift shop - matching "I get cranky without my bluebell" relaxing stop for a refreshing scoop of a favorite flavor.

This is such a fun stop, especially if you have kids! There’s a great little Blue Bell museum area with letters from President Bush, photos of the ice cream process, free Blue Bell paper hats, photo ops, and the old fashioned delivery truck is parked outside. We didn’t get to use the viewing platform because we arrived late in the day, but the ice cream shop is open all day so we got to try some $1 scoops. The “scoops” are big and they had flavors that we’ve never seen in stores (Milk and Cookies! Yum). Also, they have a fantastic gift shop. Don’t miss this stop!

There weren't very many people there so I had an expectation to at least be greeted at the visitor center with some sort of acknowledgment. Nope, just an employee with her face down in the desk. We also really couldn't get near the novelty car outside due to some woman on a ladder doing a photo shoot of a couple. At first I thought that it was part of the visit offered to purchase your pics if taken, apparently not. Anyway, Blue Bell could do A LOT better with tourism to help their brand and also the town itself since the place looks to be folding with tons of stores closing.

Great place to visit and get your ice cream fix. Plenty of ice cream to taste. Great flavors and at $1 per scoop you can't go wrong. Awesome!

My husband and I were out loking for bluebonnets and we stopped here to see the creamery before heading out of town. We got a cup of ice cream for $1, and the ladies serving it were really nice. We did not get to go out onto the observation deck because we go there after the 2pm deadline, that is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I really dont see what the big deal would be if they let customers out there even if the are nor currently producing the ice cream, it would have been fun to see the insides of the plant.

Blue Bell was such a treat when I lived in TX! Now that I am out of the distribution area, I have been missing that ice cream. Since I was in the NW Houston area and just 45 minutes away, I had to stop by and check this out.
My family started in the Visitor’s Center. There is a lot of information and exhibits to see, with a couple people at an information desk in case you have questions. There are also lots of photo opps, so bring a camera. While my family was in the visitor’s center, the power went out to the entire complex. Word on the street was that some company moving a house clipped an electric line. Thanfully we were about finished with our time in the visitor’s center, so we moved onto the ice cream parlor.
The lights were off in that building as well, and that is the same building as the production facility and observation deck. As a result, we were unable to see production of the ice cream or visit the gift shop. However, we did get the scoops of ice cream. Of course, no power means no cash registers... so our scoops were free of charge that afternoon. Free never tasted so great! I only wished they had some of the banana pudding ice cream in the parlor that day!
As it was starting to heat up in the parlor (no electric also means no air conditioning), they decided to close up shop. My family and I finished our scoops and went on our way. Even with the electricity issue, we had a great time. It was the highlight of my trip and I recommend anyone in the area make a visit. Just watch out for the speed traps on Highway 290 coming from Houston!

What a great place. Who doesn't love BB ice cream? I know I sure do, so coming here was lots of fun. Too bad the observation area wasn't open yet but it should be by the summer. And who can say no to a $1 large scoop of ice cream at the gift shop? I sure didn't!

Nice, very detailed tour of the creamery that turns out the BEST ice cream in the US..at the end of the tour, will be offered samples and there is a wonderful gift shop FULL of all things Blue Bell..nice area of town, plenty of free parking..will find lots of other people and families wanting to tour. Will be able to ask locals what Brenham and Blue Bell are like. Blue Bell def makes Brenham a Blue Bell town.

Nice place but, a little disappointed. No more tours, but you can see the packing side through the observation deck. To bad the person at the deck didn't tell you what was going on or some history. You can get a big scoop of ice cream for $1.

I’m a 51 year old Texan and have been raised, and raised my children, on delicious Blue Bell ice cream! The tour was incredible and we learned so much about the process. Besides the wonderful and tasty free ice cream, my favorite part about the tour was that so many of the local teenagers work here and they assured us that they get to eat as much as they want so the Blue Bell slogan is true .... “we eat all we can and sell the rest!” Go visit, and take your kids or grandkids! You will not be disappointed!!!

Every Texan should make it an obligation to visit Blue Bell Creameries out in Brenham Texas. If you are a non-Texan, you need to come here. Why should you even come and visit Blue Bell Creameries? It's an ice cream factory! How can you say no to that?
I went into the factory and I wish I had my Blue Bell paper hat on to get into the spirit of the tour. I was amazed on the process on making ice cream. The tour guide, Matt, said that they still use local, independent dairy farms to make their ice cream. They also use local farms for their other ingredients such as fruit and nuts.
After the tour you get a free cup of ice cream and I had a hard time choosing and ended up with the red velvet ice cream. That was very good.
You wonder about the Blue Bell Ice Cream that is stored in the frozen food section in your local grocery. Go to the Blue Bell Creameries to see how the production of the ice cream.

Grandkids and grandparents enjoyed seeing Production Area 3. They show the manufacturing and packaging of ice cream in the Observation Deck. Then you can buy ice cream for $1.00 per scoop. Neat Visit on the way back home.

Blue Bell Creameries has beautiful grounds, a museum, a tour and a parlor.
The grounds in the front are very well-kept and nice. There is a great photo opportunity with the dairy cow.
The parlor has the most delicious ice cream. A large scoop is only $1. They offer so m any good flavors. Our favorites were Cinnamon, Peppermint, Vanilla, Cookies & Cream and Rainbow Sherbet. The only flavor we didn't care for was coffee - little too strong.
I personally really enjoyed the Texas High School Hall of Fame on the first floor of the property.
It highlighted the finest player to come out of Brenham High School - Cecil Cooper. Cecil was a 5 Time All-Star. He won Gold Gloves and Silver Sluggers. One of his Silver Sluggers bats was on display.
It was neat to see Hall of Famers from the two High Schools I attended. Paul Janish from Cy-Creek and Robert Copley from Elsik. Paul Janish played on the College World Series Champion Rice Owls.
Astros Nolan Ryan and Lance Berkman were highlighted.
Their museum is very nice too. There were no tours at this time.
The Blue Bell Creamery is awesome and we will return one day.

Blue Bell no longer offers tours of the manufacturing facility, but there is an observation deck where you can watch several different ice creams being packaged. They had a helpful employee there to answer any questions we asked.
Of course, we enjoyed ice cream afterward, which is only $1 for a massive scoop. It's a fun pit stop that doesn't require much time.

They still have a cool historical museum to check out for free and an ice cream parlor upstairs in another part of the building! My only complaint is that they served Triple Chocolate ice cream there but it isn't sold in stores yet!! I miss my favorite ice cream so much!!

On your next trip from San Antonio to Houston you should take a slight detour to Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham. See the observation deck and get a huge scoop of your favorite flavor…for a buck!

Nice to see the history of the company and cool to see the packaging. Not open on the weekends, but well worth the effort.

Fabulous place to visit and see the history in the making. Pretty awesome operation here! Would like to give a thank-you to Kenzie for her hospitality and being so welcoming to my family. We all appreciated you and your time!

Great place to go see. They are not back to giving tours of the plant, but there is still plenty to see. And you can't beat $1 scoops of any flavor blue belle ice cream.

We brought our two grandchildren (ages 9 & 6) here so they could see where our favorite ice cream is made. We had a quick tour of the museum, which was very interesting. Took some fun pics of the kids in the cutouts they have in the museum. Toured the factory and kept the young customer service man busy with questions. He was very accommodating. Then we all enjoyed a very large scoop of ice cream for $2 in the ice cream parlor. Kids had fun and we all had our favorite ice cream. A win all around!

They don’t do tours but they do have a viewing area of the creamery. They had a couple of videos on the history of Blue Bell ice cream which were very good along with the pictures and graphic explanations around the entrance room. Of course the best was the tasting area!

We went early in the morning so we had ice cream for breakfast! They serve all the flavors of Bluebell for $1 a scoop. It was fascinating to see the production room. The museum and the tour is free. Worth the stop if you are an iceccream lover.

This place is great for everyone. They offer eduction, fun and of course great ice cream and at a extremely fair price.

This is a fun thing to do it’s a walk thru tour of Blue Bell ice cream factory. You can get a scoop for a buck... they used to give s free scoop ... but now charge a buck. It’s worth it!!!!

Everything changes and the Blue Bell tour is no exception. The facility is lovely. Sparkling clean and very new. The Visitors Center provides more interesting information than looking through a window watching workers put ice cream in cartons. And the ice cream after the “tour” used to be free. Now it’s $1.00. And people used to smile and act like they loved their jobs. Everything changes.

We had a great time! $1.00 for a scoop of fresh delicious ice cream was worth the
trip! We saw how the factory workers get the ice cream into different sized containers and box them up to be shipped No pictures or videos allowed of the factory.

My husband and I visited the Blue Bell Creamery on Monday, July 25, 2016. I was very excited about our visit and had been looking forward to it for weeks. Unfortunately, it was not at all what I expected. I knew the Creamery wasn't offering tours, but I was excited to see the parlor and store. Once we arrived at the parlor we noticed an employee sitting behind the counter staring at her phone. She never looked up at us, so we walked over to the store in hopes that she'd notice us and be able to help us on the way back out of the store. We walked in to the store where two more employees were standing behind the counter. They were talking and never acknowledged our presence until we were finally checking out, and even then my husband had to initiate the conversation and asked the cashier how she was doing. She said she was doing fine, and that was the end of that conversation. We left the store and headed back over to the ice cream parlor. The young female employee was still sitting and staring at her cell phone, but now there was another employee at the computer by the ice cream. She was just a couple of feet from us but never greeted us as she continued to stare at the screen. After a couple of minutes she turned and walked away. A few moments later the employee who had been staring at her phone finally put it down and came to offer help. At this point we decided that we weren't that interested in staying around anymore. We left there and went to another building with visitor information and a virtual tour. The man there greeted us warmly, and was the only one to do so the entirety of our visit. We began to look around the building and shortly afterwards another employee walked in, loudly complaining about something. She looked at us and went to her spot behind the visitor information desk with the other employee. Every other employee we met walking around the grounds was about as friendly as the ones inside that we encountered. Needless to say we were very disappointed by the unfriendliness of the employees that work at Blue Bell. With the tour being shut down they had the opportunity to still make the visit a great one, but visitors were the least of their concerns that day. I understand that it was a Monday morning, and I hope for the sake of future visitors that the employees of Blue Bell were just having an off day. But I definitely won't be going back.

We were stuck in Brenham on our way to Waco due to flooding and road closures, we visited the Blue Bell Creamery to pass the time and very glad we did they were not very busy due to the weather and the staff was great we were served our $1 scoop of ice cream great price for more like a cup than a scoop!! Our server wish I remembered her name was great. We were concerned about the road closures and getting to our destination and she was so helpful to sit down at a table with us and give us phone numbers of people who could assist us if we needed while on the roads, and she also showed us different routes we could take to avoid flooded roads, over all great place very clean and very very friendly staff.

This is my husbands favorite ice cream so we had to stop in during a road trip. Unfortunately the curse of covid doesn’t allow u to take the tour. You still can walk through the visitors area, gift shop and get a scoop of ice cream or 2. Gift shop had a lot of fun blue bell swag items. They have a ton oh ice cream flavors to choose from and it’s $ 1 for a large a scoop. Bring the kids and enjoy. Large parlor room that seats a lot of people while keeping your covid distance.

History of the Blue Bell Ice Cream and a neat sitting area for your enjoying your large scoop of ice cream for just 1.00.

Making a great comeback after some very bad PR. We enjoyed the Welcome room and watching the videos about the history of Blue Bell, "The Texas Ice Cream."
Tours through the plant are np longer available, probably due to the contamination that hurt them.
Visit the very nice gift shop for that special Blue Bell stuff.
Don't let this stop you, it is a wonderful experience.

Even though they no longer do tours of the creamery, there is plenty to see. What you don't want to miss is huge scoops of ice cream for $1 each.

I'm so Happy they are getting back on track and getting more and more Flavors back as well as new one's. Love my Regulars but Loving me some New flavors. Great job Blue Bell 👍👍👍

Always good ice cream at the end of the creamery tour Great for a hot day. Large portions. Nice gift store as well.

This was a great stop on our road trip. We got to read about the history of Blue Bell, observe packing, shop, and enjoy ice cream for $1 a scoop.

We made a quick stop after passing by. Unfortunately there are no factory tours but there is a nice visitor center showing the history of Blue Bell. The ice cream parlor offers $1.00 huge scoops of delicious ice cream, a real bargain! I wish we lived closer or we would be stopping all the time!

The observation deck was very interesting. We asked the host lots of questions and he was extremely knowledgeable on the product and the production. Only $1.00 for a scoop of ice cream is a great deal. No wonder the locals visit often. Only wish all the flavors were available to taste. The visitor's center showed the history of the Blue Bell.

2nd visit here. 1st visit with our grandchild. Very interesting and great ice cream. Several photo ops.

the staff is friendly, the observation area is kind of bland and not much to really see really and quaint gift shop. guess it's worth the trip if you're near by. the dollar cup of ice cream hits the spot though. the artifacts and articles on the ground floor are interesting. its free and there is no guided tour.

Tiny Brenham is home to this paradise for ice cream afficionados. The guided tour of their creameries tells of the love & attention that has made Blue Bell. Sparklingly spit spot, quality has reigned over time to produce a nationally loved brand. The retro parlour is the last stop, where a complimentary scoop leaves you craving for more! Truly scrumptious!

We were passing through and decided to drop in. Disappointed that a tour is no longer done. The observation deck can be closed during your visit and they do not allow pictures to be taken, claiming it is for the "privacy" of their mask and bonnet clad employees. The visitor center is surprisingly sparse and oddly displayed, everything is high up and not the most convenient for children trying to see objects or read the information. Photo op setups are poorly executed and dumpy. Cheap ice cream, pricey souvenirs. It was a fun stop but I wouldn't go out of the way to see.

I’ve been to the factory many times in the past few years. Excellent selection and some flavors you can try are only sold at the parlors or restaurants (example cinnamon, normal at Taste on Texas in Houston), so if you’ve been curious, go out and see.
I do want to warn folks about the tours/observation deck.
The don’t give guided tours anymore. This was pretty much done after it’s brief shutdown to fix the listeria issue in 2015 (This is well-known, but they’ve risen above it IMHO).
They chose to not reopen the full tour and instead do an observation deck, which was built in the past year. This deck lets you see ice cream in production.
Key word - production. They close it around 4-ish (last time I tried to go on the deck) when production stops for the day. It’s also not open during holidays or weekends when they aren’t working.
So, if you plan on coming, so so between start of the day and we’ll before 4. There is a visitor’s center/museum next door that has a wall mural for a more detailed look at the production, from open all the way to 5 (close).

$1.00 scoops of the Best Ice Cream in the Country. Our group enjoyed the visit and the quaint shopping.

My granddaughter had a great time. My daughter had been on a tour there in the 90’s and was disappointed. We enjoyed it.

Triple enjoyment: Ice cream is delicious including new flavors not released in all areas, attractive informative place to visit or tour, and friendly service and atmosphere. All ages will enjoy.

We love Blue Bell ice cream and decided to stop and look around the creamery. It was neatly decorated. All the employees we came in contact with were very nice. There's no tours at this time, but we were able to view the production line via a big glass window. They were busy making their new flavor. We had $1 cup of ice cream in the parlor before we left. I had the peachy peach, was very peachy, ha!

The creamery is located in the town of Brenham, about halfway between Houston and Austin.
Due to covid-19 measures usual tours were cancelled during our visit, but it was possible to watch the production from the Observation Deck. Also, an interesting exhibition about the history of the company was on show, and – most importantly – the Ice Cream Parlor was open!
We really enjoyed our visit and would love to come back.

we have been here many times my grandchildren love to take the tour and then of course you get an ice cream at the end of the tour !! some flavors you can only get there

Texans love their Blue Bell ice cream and nothing makes us happier than a visit to where it all started and is made. You are free to explore the visitor center, first refrigerated truck, sculpture garden, century tree, observation deck, ice cream parlor and country store at your own pace. View the ice cream making process from the observation deck but don’t go too late because it closes at 2pm. Choose a giant scoop of Blue Bell for $1 in the ice cream parlor and then browse the store for fun souvenirs. Every kid and kid at heart needs a free paper blue bell hat and then a picture in front of the first refrigerated truck. I have pictures from when my kids were small.

We stopped at the creamery to have some ice cream and it was only $1.00 a scope and the scopes filled a cup! Great value. Great taste and huge variety.

Blue Bell is Texas. Right up there with Whataburger and Willie Nelson
Great visitors stop and great ice cream for $1

The ice cream parlor was cute and fun to eat your large scoop of Blue Bell for $1! Cute gift shop no tours any more tho ... We enjoyed the treat!

What a fun little day trip to the original Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, Tx. Learning about the history of this "little creamery" was very interesting. Unfortunately, they do not do tours, and we did not arrive until after 3:00 so the observation deck was closed. But, we did take advantage of the $1 giant scoop of ice cream! It is worth a stop if you're in the area, and the downtown area is darling.

Visitors center wasn't open when we booked our stay in Brenham but found them open when we arrived. Loved both the history and the ice cream tastings in the Ice Cream parlor - Yummy!

Enjoyed visiting the creamery. History in the Visitors Center was interesting. Such a neat and clean facility. Ice cream is only $1 per generous scoop in the Ice Cream Parlor. Our only regret is that the observation deck was not open during the time we were there. Be sure to visit the Ice Cream Parlor before the local schools let out. We noticed alot of parents with kids head there after school in the afternoon for a treat.

Great place for a visit especially using the rolling backroads on a motorcycle. Interesting to learn about the making of ice cream. What was unexpected but graciously accepted was the free scopes of cream for a Veteran and family member. I did not ask, but the Server noticed my Army hat and asked if I was a veteran. When I acknowledged I was, he proceeded to offer the ice cream as a thank you for my service. Great Service, friendly and caring employee. Thank you Blue Bell Employees!

Visit the museum to take a look back in time to the beginning of Blue Bell Creamery. Then, walk on over to the Production facility and taste testing room. You will only see a small portion of the production lines from the glass observation deck - but, its a very good view of the process: from dixie cup to 5-gal container --- sherbet to rocky road. There was a young man assigned to the area to explain the process and answer any questions. Then, for a dollar a scoop - more like cup sized container - we had a choice of 20 flavors.YUM!

Great informative visitor centre. Ice cream available by the scoop for $1. Note they no longer offer factory tours which is a real shame

Not be missed. But beware the factory overlook closes at 2:00 PM. Only the gift shop and ice cream parlor are open until 5:00.

We live just down the road from the facotory. It is always busy, but not hard to get into. You can't beat the price for a bowl of Blue Bell, $1.00. You overlook the factory floor from glass windows above which is fun for all ages, then stop by the little gift shop for a great souvenir. On the way to the car, stop downstairs and look around the Texas High School Baseball hall of Fame.

When is the last time you got a huge scoop of great tasting ice cream for $1.00? If you have driven through Brenham, Texas and never stopped at Blue Bell Creameries you have really missed a great treat! Best ice cream, adorable serving area, fun items in country store and all with great prices. Come and visit it and see for yourself!

We were visiting Brenham for a cycling event on the surrounding country roads. We're very glad that we carved out a few minutes to visit one afternoon.
Make sure to plan according to their days / hours of operation though. The ice cream shop is open only Monday to Friday 8AM to 5PM and the observation deck that overlooks some of the packing operations shuts down around 2PM.

Short one day visit. The admission is free and souvenir shop has some good collection. Don't forget to have $1 ice cream.

The friends we were staying with are bid Blue Bell fans & had recommended a visit here, so en route back to them from a couple of days in Bastrop we popped in. Very interesting displays of the history of the business, with plentiful information & artefacts, & the original building itself is lovely. Staff were very pleasant, & happy to answer people's questions. The lemon ice cream I had was absolutely delicious, & my husband was equally impressed with his choices of strawberry & triple chocolate, & I'll happily admit to helping him finish the chocolate one!

I am an ice cream junkie, and Blue Bell is the mother of all ice cream for me. Stopped on a cross-country trip. Cute little museum, nice display honoring Texas baseball players/coaches of note, ample gift shop (of course!), overlook viewing area of part of the factory. The best part is they sell a wide selection of flavors for $1 a scoop - and it is a BIG scoop. If you love great ice cream - and who doesn't?1 - this should be on your bucket list!

Home of Blue Bell Ice Cream. Tours are not available, but you can view production from an observation area. The visitor center shows the history of Blue Bell Ice Cream, but has mostly static displays and pictures and is not particularly interesting. Excellent ice cream at reasonable prices - $1.00 a scoop! I would not recommend this attraction as something worth going out of your way to see, but if you're driving through town it makes a nice rest stop.

As for hygenic reason, the actual factory was not openned for public but we could still see the display and enjoy the icecream which they sold for a dollar a scoop. Plenty of souverniors to buy too.

The tour of the plant is no longer available, but the tasting room and gift shop are open. The varieties of ice cream are endless. The ice cream is served by the cup or cone in generous servings. A fun place to visit.

We had not been to the Blue Bell Creameries in several years and decided to visit with out of state guests. The plant "tour" now consists of an observation deck where you can watch ice cream being packaged. The gift shop was nice and you can't beat a large serving of Blue Bell ice cream in their ice cream parlor for only $1.

If you are driving through Brenham, this is a great stop. It doesn’t take long to check out the observation deck and it’s neat to see the ice cream being packaged. Everyone who works there is polite and friendly. The best part is the ice cream parlor. Scoops are $1, and these are big scoops. One scoop completely fills the bowl. This is a fun outing if you are in the area.

We came to town for Birthplace of Texas Geotour and brushed up on loads of fun and history of Texas. Excellent fun

Had a great time with the family but I did miss the tour. Will be back when the kids get older.... maybe in a few year.

Blue Bell ice cream is #1 in the region. So make some time to visit and see it made via the second floor observation windows. Small and regular sizes available. Go in the winter to enjoy the legendary Peppermint flavor. Gift shop. See the Visitor Center.

Get there before 2:00 so you can watch them packing the ice cream.
You can buy a scoop for $1.00. They have a nice gift store.

We were recently driving through Brenham, and I had promised my daughter that we would stop by. I had fond memories of doing this myself when I was a kid. We got there just in time to see the production facility, which is an important detail if you're planning your trip. It closes earlier than the rest of the building, so check the hours. It was really interesting to get that perspective on how our well-loved Blue Bell is made. Then we bought ice cream scoops for $1 (really a small bowl and larger than one scoop! It was so good and creamy, and it made me appreciate why we love it so much. There was a merch store, and people were going a bit crazy. Be ready, this is definitely a little kid kinda stop, and there are parents who are not restraining the craziness. Anyway, check out the brief history section in the visitors' center, and that's really all there is to it.

We left Waco early in the morning to go to Brenham to Blue Bell Creamery. Enjoyed the overlook watching the ice cream being packaged. Well informed young people were there to answer our questions. Then a generous scoop of ice cream for $1. I tried blackberry cobbler which is seasonal and delicious. Then a visit to gift shop. This is one of the nicest shops I have visited in a place like this. Good selection of nice merchandise.
If you have time visit downtown area. Some cute shops, a good bookstore and some nice places to eat.

I've been wanting to visit Blue Bell Creameries for a while now. On a recent trip, I decided to drive an hour out of the way for a visit ... glad I did. I was amazed at the assembly/fill process that happens there. The $1 scope of ice cream made the trip really SWEET!

Great place to grab some ice cream and learn about one of Texas' traditions. Highly encourage people to try some of their treats.

The tour itself is quite short, but it consists of 2 museums, and a viewing deck to watch workers make the ice cream. The staff were great, very friendly and very knowledgeable, and knew all the answers to our questions! Now the end the tour off we had $1 ice cream and you cannot beat that!!

The visitor center provides a history of the company but probably won't interest the younger children.
Walk across the parking lot and head upstairs to the parlor for great tasting ice cream at only $1.00 a scoop (and it's a big scoop).
There is an observation deck where you can see the ice cream being made and packaged. There were two employees there to answer any questions you may have.
The store has a nice selection of souvenirs available.
Great ice cream is always worth the trip.

What a fun stop this was with friends. We had never been to the Blue Bell Creamery before so we walked the grounds, took several photos/selfies, saw the production from the observation deck and got a scoop of ice cream while there! What a treat!

Ice cream for $1.00!! Standard sized portion too, not just a sample. Tours are closed now due to a food virus last year. Won’t reopen but there is a viewing area where there is an employee who will tell you everything you want to know about Bluebell ice cream and more.
There’s a small museum and gift shop too.
Don’t miss this if you are in the area and like ice cream!

We were disappointed that the creamery tour is currently closed, but the museum, ice cream parlor and gift shop are still great. You can't beat $1 scoops of ice cream in the parlor!! I finally found my favorite flavor Pecan Pralines and Cream again.

We got there late on a Friday but were able to go through the museum, enjoy $1 scoops of ice cream and shop on the gift shop. Wished we got there in time to view the production process. They are not open to the public on the weekend. Plan accordingly.

I had always wanted to go by here as I'd passed here (Brenham) on my many trips between Houston and Austin. I believe at one point they actually had real tours, but now, all there is is an observation deck. They have a visitor center with a good deal of old photos but not much else, a few old commercials playing on various TVs and a few photo props. On the other end, they have the observation deck and store. The observation deck is exactly what you'd expect, they have a section of the manufacturing line where they are packaging ice cream. They have a little gift shop with different items with the blue bell logo you can buy and then they have an ice cream shop that sells $1 per scoop ice cream. Unless you find yourself in the area with nothing else to do, I wouldn't recommend bothering to stop here. Aside from cheap ice cream, there was not much else to do here that's all that interesting.

We can't stop in Brenham without a visit to the Creamery. The museum tells the story of the little creamery that grew into a national brand. You can even look down on employees packaging the ice cream ready for shipping around the USA. I laughed when I read that the first amount of ice cream made at the creamery was 2 gallons TOTAL! I have more than that in my freezer.

Stopped by on our way to Washington on the Brazos. They are not doing tours anymore but have an informative museum to look through, Be sure to stop by the ice cream parlor for a generous scoop for just a dollar!

I was underwhelmed with visit. The observation deck was just overlooking one room. Main draw was expensive gift store and $1 scoop of ice cream. Of course there great photo ops with statue of little girl and her cow. Museum was informative & interesting.

If passing through Brenham, take a break and stop in at Blue Bell for a generous serving of ice cream (only $1 per generous cup) at the country store upstairs. Nice clean bathrooms also. Open six days per week, closed Sunday.

We had the best time..!! We are all about the Blue Bell ice cream 💙 Everyone was friendly but Miss Sue Ellen really made our day..!! She's the absolute best...!!

They no longer offer a formal tour, so all that's left is to watch from a balcony. Very nice people, best ice cream on the planet, historic location. So the question becomes "Is it worth driving to Brenham TX for a $1.00 scoop of Blue Bell?" Sadly, I vote no, and this is our second trip there.

As a diehard Texan I've always been loyal to Blue Bell. Such a neat place. Everyone was friendly. You can get a heaping bowl of ice cream for $1.00. My son has a peanut and almond allergy and they got his icecream from a fresh container in the back without me even asking.
#Isurvivedthebluebellicecreamfamineof2015

Really cute photo ops everywhere. Bluebell. Nothing but awesome. Scoops $1!!!! Girl serving had been there 15 years. Cheerful and helpful. Cute short films in the visitor center. Can't go back in the factory anymore because of the listeria thing , but you get a free cool paper hat!!

Blue Bell is a MUST visit when visiting Brenham! We had been years ago but went back to recreate some of our pictures! We had SO much fun!!!

We love ice-cream and we live a relatively short distance away on the west side of Houston, so a no-brainer to take the trip. We went the scenic route along 36, passing through beautiful countryside, antique stores, and the old-time town of Bellville ... with more time we would have stopped to explore, especially the well known Bakery!
Outside the factory, there are several photo opportunities - statue of the founders, little girl leading a cow and the first delivery truck. All areas perfectly maintained. The visitors center has a small but interesting and free exhibition of all things Blue Bell throughout its history, more photo ops in there.
A short walk across the parking lot takes you to the factory building. The ground floor has a very small display of baseball memorabilia, the observation deck is on the first floor. What you can see is intriguing but limited. There are tantalizing glimpses through to other sections that make you want to see more, but you can’t. The viewing area is small. It wasn’t particularly busy when we went so not a problem, but can imagine it could be. All you really see is the packaging of ice-cream, not the making - it being poured into tubs, then boxed up. Monotonous work for what seems like more people than you would really need. There are helpful guides on hand to answer questions that enhances the experience.
Afterwards you can purchase a cup of ice-cream for $1 - the only thing you have to pay for and the only way to buy ice-cream. Everything else is free. Well, there is also a store - well stocked ice-cream related gifts, but no ice-cream!
Would recommend taking the trip, but was a little underwhelming.

Ice cream was good and only cost $1. Observation room was interesting. If driving through, worth a quick stop.

Delicious ice cream. The staff was all very friendly and courteous. The servings were more than sufficient and the cost was unbelievably low. I would recommend the triple chocolate or the mocha almond fudge.

Well worth the stop is to tour the Blue Bell Creamery wo see the history from its early beginning to the present. You get to watch ice cream being made and packaged weekdays. Then at the ice cream bar eat all the ice cream you want for only $1 per scoop. They had about 14 flavors out the day we were there. YUM, YUM is all I can say!

Big fan of Blue Bell Ice Cream so this was a must to visit. While there is no longer a tour inside the facility, you can still see the packaging of the product. As we were one of the first people to visit that morning, we had the tour person all to ourselves and got to ask plenty questions.

The museum part of the creamery was so-so. The observation deck was more engaging, but the best part was the ice cream. A selection of ice creams were available for $1/generous scoop--the real star of this stop!

the creamery no longer offers tours but the visitors center is really good to learn about its history. Even the kids were enjoying the various areas. Another building is the ice cream parlor where you can get a cup of Blue Bell ice cream for $1 for a big scoop. A small park area to sit in the shade and enjoy the cold treat.

Please don't list Blue Bell Creameries as the #1 attraction in Brenham. For several years the ice cream has been contaminated and Blue Bell plants shut down. They are now selling Blue Bell Ice Cream in Houston grocery stores, but today, Sept. 21, 2016, it was announced on the news that Blue Bell still has listeria contamination in their ice cream. For years, Blue Bell tried to cover up the problems at their plants, but finally so many people knew it was in the news and the govt. stepped in. Blue Bell ice cream has always been so sweet with high fructose corn syrup and filled with artificial flavor and artificial colors, that health-conscious people avoided it. It is appalling that excessive advertising has mislead people into thinking Blue Bell is a big attraction and Trip Advisor says the plant is the #1 place to visit in Brenham. It is not!! Just go in the spring to see the blue bonnets and go to the Rose Emporium, and shop on the square.

I had Praline and Creams Icecream for just a dollar. It was the best ice cream I've ever had because it was fresh.

We visited the Creamerie on a whim. There is interesting history memorabilia. Observed the packing of the ice cream. Geared more toward children.

Yes, Bluebell Ice Cream is the best tasting ice cream in the country with an excellent visitor center to match. Ease on in and taste their flavors in a spotless setting. Generous sized scoops of all their selections plus one or two that can only be had there. Very friendly folks.

Some of the things that we had hoped to be able to do such as the tours have been discontinued but the museum offers a nostalgic walk through the history of Blue Bell ice cream and the creameries. Lots of interesting photos on the walls and memorabilia to see. Some videos to give you some history about the company. There's also an ice cream parlor to try many flavors of their ice cream. Several that are available at the ice cream parlor. There's also a gift store to get some clothing, mugs, bowls, etc at reasonable prices. All of the team members were very friendly with the staff being mainly young women in the parlor. You won't spend more than an hour here, but you will have the chance to try different flavors for only $1/scoop
It's a generous scoop too!

We did the observation deck, gift shop and ate ice cream all in about 45 mins.
Enjoyed seeing how the ice cream is packaged from the deck.
BTW there is no longer a guided tour of the facility.
The 1.00 for a huge scoop of ice cream is a great treat!

We were on a business trip to Austin so I decided to surprise my husband with a trip to the creamery since it’s his favorite ice cream. It’s a small section that you see as far as the factory but they also have a lot of info about the creamery along with a ice cream parlor. Be sure to sample the flavors only available in parlors and the $1 scoops of ice cream are huge. Enjoyed this visit.

We have visited many times, sometimes including the tour and other times not. Either way, best place for a giant scoop of Blue Bell ice cream!

Interesting observation of ice cream production. Knowledgeable tour guides. Best value "scoop" of ice cream for $1.

We visited the creamery recently since my hubby had never been. We went to the observation deck which overlooks part of the creamery devoted to packaging and flavoring. There were over 25 employees just in this section that you could see. Many more behind the scenes. There used to be tours of the facility but no more. You can learn how Blue Bell started and also buy some to try. Can't beat that!

The creamery lets you view them packing the ice cream up. This was a neat experiance. But the best part was buying the ice cream it was so good and only a $1.00 per cup. I tried the lemon and homemade vanilla.

Great history of Blue Bell in the visitor center. We remembered a lot of the old commercials and jingles. $1 scoops available for sale and the observation deck is definitely worth a look. Staff was pleasant and engaged us in conversation and explained what they were packing that day. Fun for the family.

The Creamery has a museum with videos and photos of Blue Bell history. There is a viewing area where you can watch the ice cream making process. And, then you can visit the ice cream counter and try the finished product.

We were a bit disappointed because you cannot see very much of the factory from the observation deck there. The ice cream is fantastic and they give quite a generous portion for a dollar. There is a cute gift shop and are people around the answer any questions you may have. Wouldn't pass this up if you are in the area.

Nothing special..... we made some pictures outside with the nice logo and truck and ate a Blue Bell ice cream....

Toured the making of ice cream and sherbet. Ended at the Blue Bell ice cream parlor with a choice of all their confectionery.

We spent a fun afternoon wandering around the property and enjoying a scoop of for only a $1 Blue Bell Ice Cream!

The generous scoop of Blue Bell ice cream straight from the factory for just a buck... what more could you ask for? Great place to stop with the kids. Got to see some Blue Bell history along with a cool baseball exhibit. Super friendly employees and the place was busy. Definitely a place to stop if you’re in Brenham.

A must stop to their onsite ice cream parlor for a taste of their traditional and new flavors. Always good but more so on a hot summer day. Take time to stop and you won't regret it!
Maybe they don't have the tours going but they still have $1 ice cream, and beautiful magnolia blossoms.
