Great place to bring dog! The beach area isn’t fenced in so you will have monitor your dogs. On hot days their paws will be hot and burn on the hot sand so try and get there early or carry them down to water area. Always bring water for them as well since fresh water access is a long walk back to parking lot.

Fun Place for dogs

By dotdotgriffin |

This is a great beach to take your pup to play. Since there aren’t many areas in Sarasota for your dog to run free this is a great place. There are 2 area that are fenced in for your small and large dogs with water for Dr king and a hose to wash your pet off after a swin.

Pet beach

Nice place to take your dogs, beach is clean. Lots of space for dogs to run. Red tide was problem this year and dead fish.

Lab's first beach trip!

By Jlvk |

Our lab Joy had a blast on her first visit to the beach. She loved fetching the ball in the ocean and riding the waves in. It is a shame that one dog owner had to make it difficult for other's because her pitbull's were being aggressive several times to where multiple people asked her to fix it. She unfortunately, did nothing! Finally she left and the rest of the day was wonderful!

Christmas Day on the beach with our dog-Fantastic

By Wayne W |

Since the beaches do not allow pets this option is wonderful. It is clean & well run with dog showes and sanitary stations. The people on the beach are all very mindful of their pets and we did not see any altercations what so ever. Will be back

Shark Tooth Central

By 232tracyb |

This and the Sharkys beach are our favorite! We love the Dog Beach because then we can bring our dog and still enjoy a relaxing day on the gulf. There is public beach access, bathrooms, showers, volleyball nets, and a pier up by Sharkys. The dog beach is much less busy, usually, and some times I like it that way. This stretch of beach always yields a handful of shark teeth with every visit.

Wonderful Dog Park on the Gulf

By Fred F |

I go through Paw's Park on a regular basis when I walk the beach. I love the dogs. They are large and small frolicking at the beach. I have seen may little dogs in tutus and there is a big standard poodle with red sunglasses. Both dogs and owners socialize while enjoying the sun and sand.

Salty Dogs!

By Pepper & Beacon |

Great beach for the dogs to go and play and interact with other dogs off leash. Beach is an easy entry for the pups to go swimming and there is plenty of room for the ones who like to chase toys on shore too. We try to go a few times a month with our three pups. Convenient rinsing station to rinse all the salt off too before you load them back in the car!

Doggy Heaven

By John W |

We took our Labrador 4 times during our recent week long vacation in Venice. She started getting excited just at the mention of taking her to the "beach"... lots of other big and small dogs played well together while being able to take a swim in the warm gulf without leashes. Place to hose off and clean dogs afterwards, as well as doggy clean up bags in the event of an "accident" while on beach. Sadly, as has become customary of the younger generations, there was a few examples of not cleaning up after a dog accident on the paved path to the beach from the parking lot, and some of the younger dog owners were not respectful of the boundaries and allowed their dogs to go into the non-dog beach area. Actually dogs are better behaved and disciplined than some people who think rules do not apply to them because they are "Special"

Large Dog Fenced in Area

By Charlie D |

Paw Park is excellent with access to the beach & separated fenced in areas for large & small dogs. The washing station is excellent but drains to a basin which is now full of muck. This problem could be easily addressed with a proper drainage system installed so the water doesn't just sit there with no where to go.

Fun for every dog and dog lover

By WinStorm |

This is the best dog park in SW FL. I wish we lived closer. Our dogs run and play with all the others. Almost all the dogs here are well behaved. Can not wait for it to reopen. Darn Covid19.

Fun for Dogs

By sswillia |

Dogs are not welcome at most beaches in this part of Florida. But this beach is just for dogs and their families. It is fun to watch the canines who love water.

you love your dog you love the water ?

Mean Dogs

By VW1012 |

I took my dog there the first time I was in Venice and thought it was a nice park the the people didn't control their dogs. The second time I was there, there was a big dog that picked on all the other dogs. It drove an old lab into the water and wouldn't let it come to shore. The owner of the lab had to rescue the lab and the owner of the other dog did nothing.

Puppy park

By Laura S |

I Love this park & so do 2 of my dogs. Friendly people & pets, very clean for the amount of visitors. Even a dog rinse station so you don't bring to beach home! Always a great time!

Wonderful beach!

By sylvie b |

I was so happy to discover this beach while I was on vacation in the area. The beach is large so you can be in your own corner. Most of the dogs owners are responsible but still have some that don’t pick up after their dogs or can’t control their animals. My dog was attacked by 2 dogs but no injuries. Overall a great place to enjoy the sun & beach with your favourite companion.

Great beach for dogs.

By Lee M |

Believe this is the only dog beach in the state which is a real shame. it is great to have a nice spot to be able to take dogs and let them run in the sand or swim in the Gulf. One suggested improvement is for the city to increase the parking area for the dog park. the 20 or so spots fill up quickly and then you're on your own to find a spot to park. Worth the trip and parking hassle to see your dog having a great time on the beach and in the water.

LOST SILVER RING AT WASH STATION

Nice beach to sit and relax. Quiet and not a lot of people. Plenty of room. I found 38 sharks teeth in 2 hours. I thoroughly enjoyed this beach.

Great day at the doggie beach

By Tanner2305 |

We visited the Venice doggie beach today (Tuesday) and had a great time. The beach was clean (didn’t see any dog poo at all) and the people and dogs were so nice and friendly.
Our boy Finley had an amazing time!

brohard dog park

By elizabeth e |

Very nice beach for your dog! Lots of beach for the dogs to run and play in the ocean. And all of the furry friends were well behaved while we were there. It's nice to have a beach available for your dogs to run, since most beaches in Venice are not dog friendly!

Dogs love the beach also

By Peter E |

One of the most fun places to walk the beach. We often make this part of the beach a must see. Just love seeing all the dogs and their owners. Fun trying to match who goes with who. If you think kids have a good time at the beach, just come and watch the dogs.

Playing on the Beach

By BDS |

Worth the trip.... You can hang out on the beach while giving your dog a place to swim! Enter thru dog park fence that opens to a beach area once you cross a bridge. Parked in lot next to small dog park lot. We had no problems with other dogs. We'll be back!!!

Take your paws to the Paw Park!

By buckigirl51 |

This was our second visit to the Paw Park. There is a big-dog play area with picnic tables and an area for small-dog (nothing over 20 pounds). There is a fresh water to drink and for rinsing off purposes. The beach integrates all dog sizes. Both sites are leash free.

As with our first visit a couple of years ago, everyone was fairly friendly and there didn’t seem to be any doggie disagreements. The beach is lovely and on the south side of the pier. It also seemed to be very clean with all the pet parents we saw obeying the “must clean up after your dog” rule. Clean up bag stations were readily available.

The parking area is not generous, but there is extra parking right next door, which we went right past at first. We initially parked across the street with the golfers, but thought better of it and moved to the lot to the right (as we faced the dog park) where other folks with pets were parking. This seemed to be acceptable, was just a few steps further, and had the added advantage of being right in front of the restrooms that were nicely clean.

It is a very nice beach, and we plan to stay longer in Venice next time and take more advantage of it.

The Dogs had a Blast

By Yinny59 |

The place we bring our Grand Dogs when they are visiting. Close to home and they have a lot of fun interacting with the other dogs.

A Barkin' Good Time!

By DawnFromPA |

This "park" has 2 separate fenced dog parks for small and large dogs with a beach you can access through the large dog park . It's about a 200 yd walk from the dog park to the dog beach. There is no separation by dog size on the beach and dogs are allowed to run off leash, so if your pup doesn't do well with dogs of a different size, you'll want to stay in the fenced-in park, which are quite small, IMO. Being off leash on the beach is great fun for the pups, but it also means you'll find their waste not picked up and they'll roam and help themselves to your stuff, because their humans are not watching them. I've visited 8 times in 11 days so far, while on vacation, so clearly these things are not deterrents for me--just trying to be descriptive and informative. We've had lots of fun, actually, despite those things.

amazing!

By Shelby |

so fun! we brought both our dogs here and they loved it, as did we. One of my dogs played and the other preferred to sit with us.It was fun to just sit and dog watch while we were there too, so many beautiful breeds! it was cool to see dogs running and then look in the water and dogs would be out swimming too! a great experience. a little confusing to get in, we had to ask people how to get there, but once we were there it was awesome.

A worth it experience!

By Joy P |

It's an awesome beach with great people just hanging out and having fun. The dogs have a great time swimming and running. It was clean and fun and I highly recommend it. We need more places like this!

Trial and error

By terry g |

fabulous idea but not for everyone. Little dogs need to be watched as the big dogs can be overbearing. Not always. You be the judge.

Wonderful

By Cynthia’s Review |

I finally found something suitable for my dog to play in the ocean. There was not many people there and we had a very good time in the water and in the shade of the Sun umbrella. Ever so often my dog would mosey on down to the water and cool off and then come back and lay down. She felt like this was something she could do on her own and was not inhibited.

Fun for Fido

By ExNJGal |

Great place to let your dog roam free on the beach - also a gated play area nearby with water access - also bathrooms and outdoor showers

Fun but not great

By Ellen C |

The sand is extremely hot and coarse (obviously can't be helped). People tend not to pick up after their dogs. Some dogs need more control.

Pawsome experience!

By Belle M |

While on vacation, we had to make a stop so our fur babies could sunbathe and relax. Park was clean, we'll thought out and very secure. Our babies enjoyed themselves, and so did we!!

Great place to bring your dog or just enjoy everyone elses!

By clinicmgrMN |

Fun beach with great people and fabulous dogs of all sizes and breeds. Free parking, but long walk to beach. Nice bathroom facilities. Great place to hang out and watch all the dog action! One dog swam out and was greeted by dolphins!

Multiple Trips to this Park Each Vacation!

By Allison G |

My husband and I LOVE Brohard Paw Park! It is set up well as the entrances are fenced in at both the parking lot side and the beach side; the walk to the beach is shaded -- even with a small park in which to sit and cool off. There is a doggie wash station there so your babies don't have to get in the car all sandy. And the beach is so clean. Just a beautiful stretch of beach for the dogs to have a great time in and out of the water. But for your own sake as well as that of your pup's, bring a beach umbrella or canopy as there is NO chance to get any shade whatsoever past a certain point -- and it gets incredibly hot. Most of the dogs love to be able to retreat to a shady spot once they're worn out from playing in the water.

Dog Water Park

This section of the beach is just for pooches and their owners. Dogs were having a ball running, playing in the sand and in the water

Dog Beach

We take our Springer Spaniel there at least twice a week for the 3 months we are in Venice. The dogs are well behaved and most owners are very friendly. the beach is clean as everyone cleans up after their dog. Our dog loves his Beach Days more than anything else .

The only dog beach around!

By onwegoCT |

This well-equipped dog park, with a fenced area then a walkway to the beach, is one of the main reasons we moved to this town! There are waste bags, water and a washing station inside a fenced dog park, then a walkway to the beach. Great fun watching all sorts of dogs playing. Most folks are conscientious and polite. Great location, not far from town. Bring your own shade for the beach.

Beautiful and well-maintained dog park and dog beach

By Don R |

This is the one beach in the Venice, Florida area where dogs are permitted. Fines on other beaches. The Paw Park itself is next to the parking lot and offers two large size-segregated areas for dogs to exercise. You enter the dog beach through the dog park. The beach is for all dogs, large and small. We found that the dogs were well-behaved and the dog owners responsible and interested in making sure everyone has a good time. A couple of other local parks allow dogs on a 6-foot leash. Two we highly recommend are Shamrock Park with fantastic walking along the Venice Waterway and Oscar Scherer State Park.

Parks great for family dogs.

By FrozenTundra2013 |

Our Bishon is 11 years old and she had a safe and fun time flocking in the fenced areas and along the open beach area. The community has yet a second dog park about a mile from this one but it’s not on a beach.
All the dogs our dog interacted with were well behaved and nonaggressive. The dog owners were also well behaved. A few dog owners have Jekyll-Hyde personalities. Once they get onto the Tamiami Rd-Hyw 41 transportation system they quickly morph into raging road warriors. Therefore find an alternate route to this wonderful park and you’ll have a much better experience.Traffic is horrible on Hwy 41. Try Interstate 75. It’s faster and safer.

Doggone good time😉

By sunny s |

Because animals are NOT allowed on our beautiful beaches it is great that the city has given pets and their owners their own beach to frolic.

Dog beach-outstanding

By Dawn L |

Fun place, lots of dogs, running free, swimming, playing with each other-sitting on towels and under umbrellas

Fun, fun, fun!

By Tim & Kitty |

We have two dachshund. I love walking the beach with them here. There are usually 5-10 sometimes more dogs just have a blast chasing each other around and playing in the water. Makes you smile to see those little guys having so much fun!

Best dog beach anywhere

By redheaddr |

THis beach is just part of a larger beach for people. No end of the beach, or rocky edges here. Very nice because you enter through the dog park. Pick up after your dog and make everybody happy. More large dogs, so watch your small dogs if they are scared of big dogs. Take your chairs and sun umbrella.

Dog heaven

By Kevin M |

Took our lab here and she loved it, plenty of room to play in the gulf. Good hose of stations. Recommend to anyone with a dog even if they don't like the water.

Great dog park

By Michael_Jones10 |

Used to take our Bassett hound there. The fencesed area is great for dogs to run around d. Then head to the beach so they can play in the water.

Dippin' Dogs

Although my baby girl isn't a water-dog, she enjoys running on the beach with a few furry friends. Love the dog-wash area, to get some sand off before getting in the car.

My private beach

By Nukeauthor |

Stay away, I like it all to myself, mostly empty of the masses and I want to keep it clean and empty because I live just a few steps from it and want to enjoy it as my beach whenever I want all year round

Best dog park

By Tania M |

This is one of the reasons we cone to Venice Island so often. This dog park and dog beach is clean, friendly, and beautiful. Our dog loves to play in the water and with the other pups

Amazing place for dogs & their humans!

By SLProven |

This park and beach is available to dogs for playing and swimming. It is a clean beach and the dogs are (almost) always well behaved. The grassy park has sections for small and large dogs and the beach is open for all sizes. The beach is beautiful and what is better than a beach covered in puppies? Nothing. That's what.

(We live here and take our dogs multiple times a week - if you are visiting without dogs but miss your animals it is still a great beach!).

Fabulous beach for dogs

By LYNN M |

A great beach for dogs to interact with other dogs and people. The park provides a doggy showering station.

It is a surprise that so many dogs can share this great dog beach. Every thing is so relaxed. This is worth the visit.

Share beach time with your dog

By Linda C |

So nice to have a free dog friendly beach nearby. Dogs can be off leash if they play well with others. The parking area near the enclosed dog runs can be very crowded. If you go down the street a little to South Brohard beach parking there is usually a free spot. It is a short walk on the beach to get to the dog beach section. Fresh water faucets to rinse off are available in both locations.

Love it

By Lisa P |

I just love the dog beach here. It is so nice to be able to take my big dog somewhere and just let her run and have fun. I've never had any trouble with other dogs probably because my dog is such a socialite.

A great location for dogs and dog lovers!

By Kam J |

Our dogs have never been to the ocean before, so we weren't sure how they would react. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this park was well planned for pet owners. There is an area equipped with water stations to wash your dog after a swim in the salt water. There are waste bags on site and trash cans available. On the day of our visit, the pet owners were responsible and mindful of their dogs and the dogs were very sociable with each other. The beach was clean and owners cleaned up after their pets.

Dogs Need Fun Too

By dfingles60 |

Seeing all the dogs running and splashing and just having a ball is fun for everyone. If you have a dog and visit Venice don't miss going to the paw park. The dogs know when the beach is close and just start smiling and wiggling in anticipation. You have fun it is great your dogs can too.

The best place in Florida!

By Holbrook S |

We travel to Venice every December around the holidays to spend a week taking our 2 pugs to the beach every morning. We rent a house close to this beach park and it is the highlight of my year and my pug's year. Would love to retire in a place that allows dogs to run free on the beach and the dog parents to watch in joy.

Pawfect Beach Spot

By 🖤 |

I love Brohard Paw Park because I can get my pupper fix when I'm visiting FL and missing my boy back home (although I'm sure some of the fur-parents think I'm a weirdo [I mean, they're not wrong]).
When I lived in FL, I would take my dog here and he LOVED it. Off-leash beach access where he could run and splash. Truly a gem.

Why we love Venice

By Kathe M |

Our dog loves this beach and so do all the rest of the dogs too. They have a blast and it's so nice to be able to sit and watch the fun. We live on the Island so it is beyond convenient. We have never see any altercations between dogs and people are so good about picking up after their pooches.

Great beach for dogs and people who love them

By BlueMoonLulu |

This is a great beach for you and your dog. It's self-regulated which means that if your dog misbehaves or is aggressive, don't be surprised if one of the regulars ask you to quietly leave and return on a day when Fido is feeling better. Dogs mingle and make themselves at home where ever they feel like. It's such a pleasure to watch the dogs running and catching balls and frisbees in total abandon. There is an area where you enter which has a couple of picnic tables and running water, including an area where you can rinse your dog off. This rinse off area tends to get busy around dusk, but people are generally laid back and relaxed and don't mind waiting in line.

one of the only places to let your dog run free on a beach.

By Patti D |

Well, if you have a lab or any dog who likes to chase frisbees into the water, this is the place. My dog and I have been coming here for a long time. However, I do not recommend bringing a picnic lunch. One family spread out a blanket and fried chicken and a lot of dogs tried to join them for a quick meal.

Dog-Gone Fun!

By SmokieBr |

Took our dog to this beach for the very first time. Parking was ok, but we arrived kinda early. Afternoon, folks were parking in 'no parking' areas, which made it a bit difficult to maneuver out of the parking lot.
There are several gated entries. Lots of poop stations with bags and waste bins ... gratefully, folks used them to keep the area clean. There is a covered pavilion with a couple of picnic tables, and a 'dog wash' station with a couple of garden hoses to rinse off (most of) the sand. Also scattered in the fenced area are fresh water bowls that stayed automatically filled with cool, clean water.
The restroom adjoins the next door park. It was a bit of a walk from the beach, but was clean.
The boardwalk to the beach was ok, and most dogs were leashed to/from the beach. It was kept clear of sand, shells, etc. that might otherwise cut into a dog's paw.
The beach itself is plenty big. All the dogs seemed relaxed and enjoyed running in/out of the water, being pulled around by their owners while laying of floaties, or just running around in the sand.
Be sure to bring lots of cold water for your pet (and yourself), as there is no water available on the beach. We also brought a small pop-up beach canopy for our dog to get out of the sun.
BTW - You're in Venice. Keep your eyes down to hunt for pretty shells and shark's teeth!

My dog had a blast, so did I!

By Ardenas6 |

First trip to Brohard on the recommendation of a friend...it was great! Plenty of safety fences as you enter the park to prevent your furry companion from escaping. There is also a natural barrier of trees and dunes between the beach and the parking lot. Lots of friendly dogs when we were there, just make sure you clean up after your dog ;) Not everyone did from what we saw :/ Aside from a few dog "presents" left behind, the beach is very clean and I'd say cleaner than a lot of human beaches!

Will be going back soon, my dog just loved it!

Missouri dog's first visit to the beach

By Gstflorida53 |

My son and his wife are in town for the holidays and wanted to take their dog to the beach. We recommended this one and they loved it. Their Pomeranian didnt like the water but loved walking on the beach and my kids loved the beach. Best dig beach in the area.

Awesome park, our dog loves the ocean

By Movingman143 |

We were glad to find a local park where our dog could play without risk of attack and have fun at the beach. This park is excellent, access is easy, pets have access to a shower patio after the sandy beach playing. We will become regulars here. For sure!

A great dog park.

By James Parker M |

Regardless if your dog likes water or not, this is a great place to take your dog(s). We've seen almost every breed and every size there and remarkably all seem to live in harmony.

CANT IMAGINE THE FECAL CONTENT OF THE SAND GROSS PLACE

By birthdayvacation |

Clueless that beaches along the gulf coast are not pet friendly, we ended up on this beach with our pup. No words can describe this beach, and not in a good way! I compare it to being on the beach with tons of unsupervised children running around. Yes the dogs were cute and frolicking about like children chasing each other and playing. The owners on the other hand were sitting in their beach chairs enjoying their day as their dogs pissed, pooped, ran over peoples beach blankets, put their noses in peoples beach bags and retrieved food and ran away with it. We watched as a family with a small dog trailing behind them wearing an “emotional support” vest named Joey, kept walking as the dog stopped and pooped on the beach. They were completely oblivious that the dog had stopped and just kept yelling the dogs name without turning around to see what the dog was doing. The concept of having a dog park on the beach is nice, however when you have irresponsible pet owners the place becomes a cesspool and is not enjoyable or safe to walk on. I can’t imagine the fecal content if they tested this sand. Sad that you can’t bring a pup on any other beach and keep it leashed.

Two paws up!

By hthrbug |

We really enjoyed taking our pups for some fun in the sun at the beach today. Lots of different breeds and friendly owners who didn't mind my ooohing and awwwing over their furbabies. We will definitely go again.

Large, clean beach area for people and dogs .

By Deborah E |

Had a positive experience, dogs were not aggressive at all. The beach is a large non fenced area but you walk into a fenced in dog park and then out of the fenced in dog park to a fenced in wood walkway to the ocean were the dogs can play and swim. They have dog bags to pick up if you forget yours.

We apparently aren’t dog people

By MCS15 |

We have a 4lb chihuahua and we’re visiting FL so wanted to take her to the beach with us. This is the 3rd dog beach we visited while on our trip and it was our least favorite. There were huge unleashed dogs running all over the beach and annoying owners repeatedly yelling for their naughty dogs. The first minute we put our blanket down and opened our cooler, a huge dog ran over our blanket and jumped in my elderly mom’s lap trying to eat her food. All the owner said was “You know you came to a dog beach”. Ummm...I wouldn’t allow my kids to do that. Just because we are at a dog beach, doesn’t mean your dog doesn’t have to have manners or owners don’t need to watch their dogs. When we put a small bowl out for our dog to eat, a dog kept coming over and trying to eat it. I finally grabbed the dogs collar and walked it back to the owner. I gave it one star because there were some great owners that were nice and respectful. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were nice. Plus, shelling and looking for shark teeth were great here. Honeymoon Island was a much more relaxing dog beach!!

Fun for Everyone

By raeinvenice |

It is a no leash beach park for dogs and lots of fun for people too. The dogs are so excited to run free and are generally very friendly, socialized dogs. Our small dogs did not have any problems although all sizes of dogs ran free. We did watch them closely, just in case. Owners are responsible for picking up after their pets and used the free poop bag provided by the county. Our pets loved to play in the water as much as we did. There is even a rinsing station for our pets near the parking area. It is a glorious place for an outing with your pet.

Wide open, beautiful beach for dogs

By Erica Adams |

Our dog had a blast! This was her first time on a beach. She loved it. Nice size beach, a few other dogs were there. Everyone seemed to take good care. Not a lot of parking. Will definitely go back when were in the area.

Great dog park

By CharlieBurlington |

Well organized, clean, plenty of poop bag stations and trash locations. Area for rinsing your dog after. My Lab enjoyed the water.

Awesome Dog Beach! No leashes!

By Amy C |

Separate area for small dogs and big (over 20#) dogs that lead to a general area that leads to the beach. Beautiful sand, clear to turquoise waters. They have a water area for dogs at the "park", but not the beach so take some water. They also provide pet waste disposal bags. Beach is very clean, as most pets go to the grassy area to do their business and people pick up after their pets. (So pick up after your pet!)
They also have an area to rinse you and your pet off when leaving.
Please note, if you have never had your dog at the beach, saline (salt water) is a natural laxative. Some dogs will get diarrhea when they swim in the ocean, as they take in a lot of water when swimming after balls in the waves and such.
Oh, and it's all FREE!
(Motel 6 in Venice Beach is the only hotel that accepts large dogs. There are a couple of other, nicer, hotels that accept small dogs.)

Dog swimming paradise

By Jon W |

Great spot to swim with your best buddy. Easy to find and lots of like minded dog owners. Too bad there aren't more like it.

Beware

By Crispykritter |

Great place to let your pup frolicking on the beach. Beware of other dogs that pet owners allow to ruin it for all. Large dogs trample small dogs. No longer take my dog.

Crystal clear

By Rebecca G |

We are always on the look out for a family day out. Our Yorkie hates staying at home by himself. Even when its beach time.

This doggie beach is superb during the week. Very quiet and loads of gorgeous views. Unfortunately, my yorkie is too small to frolic. He doesnt like the water either. Lol.

However, it is fun watching all the other doggies play. Some find friends to run around with. Others chase their toys and their neighbors. Still some want to hunt the pigeons with no success of a catch.

Whatever the games are, my yorkie sleeping under the umbrellas shade, it is well worth the drive. I dont believe we would go on the weekend, as it would be too much for us.

One day we might stop at sharkys and have lunch. Looks inviting. Loads of fun in the sun.

Great dog park

By Jeffrey S |

My GSP loves it. We don't spend too much time in the fenced area but the beach access is great. Good hose to clean off the dog afterward. The county keeps it pretty clean.

We were looking for a place to bring the dogs to experience the Gulf and Brohard Park does just that!

The Place for Paws

By binno1 |

This beach is perfect for a day visit with our little chihuahua who loved walking the beach. The area is very clean and kept up. There are 2 dog parks under the trees, a showerstation, water bowls, and restrooms for the humans.

Herbies ocean swim

By Lisa |

Herbie absolutely loved swimming in the beautiful ocean (he is a river dog from Montana, so different than the ocean). People & their dogs were friendly & a good day it was!!! An alligator was cruzin in the reclaimed gated waterway next to the walk way getting onto the beach which was cool to see.

The beach here is awesome!

By Mickie T |

We do not have a dog but we do love this beach! In between Venice Beach and Caspersen Beach, it is a sure bet that you will find sharks teeth on the beach here. Clean restrooms too!

We go to the dog beach everyday. For the most part everyone watches their pets and there are few incidents. Great place.

Room for improvement..

Can’t say I feel the same way since I wrote my first glowing review in 2014. Too many bully dogs running free with owners who don’t watch or don’t care! I understand they can’t have separate areas for small & large dogs but perhaps the beach can be kind of split for small dogs on one side and larger on the other. Not sure how but just a thought.

Great dog beach

By Pam D |

Drove over an hour to spend the day here because of the reviews I had read, we had been to another dog beach in Florida, but the water was dirty, so we were looking for a new place to spend the day with our dogs. So happy we chose this beach. It's a great beach for humans & dogs. The beach is lovely, lots of room to spread out. the beach was very clean, I did not see one dog unsupervised & no poop lying around anywhere & I walked the entire length of the beach. People were very friendly. The dogs had so much fun & I enjoyed being able to go into the water as well. Only thing I would change would be restrooms closer to the beach. We will definitely be back.

Ugh, dog droppings and contributing to bacteria problems

By denver88 |

What on earth is the city government of venice thinking when they continue to provide a beach toilet for dogs. with all the problems of red tide and bacteria and just this month two closures for bacteria this is a feeding place for bacteria and disease. other cities have shut down dog beaches for this reason but venice simply caters to the few in the minority with big voices to keep this toilet open. i went by it today, july 5, ugh, dog dropping approaching and on beach. please don't tell me that is from irresponsible dog owners because that doesn't solve the problem, i'm speaking about what occurs and anyone swimming in nearby beaches should understand this place is a source of bacteria and disease

Best dog beach

By Katie L |

We loved this beach. It’s part of the actual beach, the water is beautiful and clean. Other dog beaches we visited were small designated area that was kinda dirty ect. But this is a beautiful beach with tons of friendly dogs. There is a dog washing station that was convenient.

Nice dog beach with a fenced in play area at the road.

By Terry R |

Great place to take your dog for the day or a few hours. There are washrooms in the parking lot next door. Also a fenced in play area for the dogs at the road. You walk through the dog park and down a path with a wooden deck and the end to get to the beach.

Fantastic place to bring your dog/dogs.

By Traventurer |

Me, my GF, and our two dogs (Chihuahua and Labrador) enjoyed the beach very much. Our dogs enjoyed they're time there as so did we. Waters are calm, sand soft, and for the most part clean. It was our first time there. Just keep a watchful eye on your furry one as not all dogs may be up to par with behavior and so forth. We did wintess a scuffle between two dogs and had to broken up by they're owners. No seperation between large and small breeds. Also there is a sign that says alligator in the area. So, keep them from going into the back last the dunes just incase. We were also warned of sharks at night, so we didn't take any risk and let our dogs swim past sunset or go beyond the sand dunes. But other than all that, great place for you and your furry pets to spend the day at. Definitely will go back when we visit FL again.

So much fun. If you don’t like to leave your best friend at home, with this beach you do not have to.

Fun for all

By librajulz |

I love bringing my dogs to this paw park and they love it too! There are always tons of dogs here for my dogs to play with and all the parents are usually very friendly. Some people come specifically just to let their dog stretch their legs and enjoy the fun of the beach. Others can't help but want to have fun too so they come to hang out at the beach for the day while letting their dog(s) also have fun. If you don't want to go on the beach there is also a grassy fenced in area where your pup can play around in. There are generally 2-3 dogs in there, but most people come to go to the beach.

This area of the beach is specifically designated as an area for dogs so it's really nice to be able to let your dog run off leash, play, and swim! Not only do the dogs go in the ocean for a dip, but many paw parents and their human children are also having fun swimming. It's a very pretty place to come and relax while letting your furry friend enjoy him or herself. A few times we visited the paw park we got to see dolphins and manatees swimming! That was very cool!

They also have a wash zone near the parking lot so you can get all the sand off you and your pups before you leave. Its very convenient. One of the best parts is if you come in the evening you also get a chance to see the beautiful sunset! Don't forget to bring sunblock, a towel, and water for your pups!

This is a great dog beach. Certainly the best one in the county. It is two distinct beaches with a shady park near the road w water, hoses, picnic tables and mutt mitts! A short walk takes you to the beach which is about 500 feet long and nice and wide. The owners are terrific and there are almost no problems w other dogs. All breeds and sizes mix well. Its very active w lots of dogs in the water as well as their owners. There is no shade so bring your own and there is always a steady breeze. Parking is great as long as you know about the lot across the road.

Love this Beach

By phila2az |

My favorite beach in the world. To be there swimming with my dog was a true pleasure. If I don't take my dog when I travel to Venice, I still go there to watch the others romp. It's really entertaining.

Doggone fun!

Our dog loves to mingle with other dogs, and get his feet wet in the gulf. Lots of room to play, a hose off section, pooper scooper mitts. We bring an umbrella for shade, and treats and water for our pup.

I walked from Caspersen Beach to the peir. This is where the dog beach is between. It is close to the pier.

Great location to bring your dogs. Everything is clean, owners take care of their dogs, and the dogs had a blast!!!

Paw Power

If you are lucky enough to be traveling with your dog Brohard Paw Park is the place to go! Gentle surf and friendly people make this a great place to introduce your pet to the Gulf of Mexico.

Great Dog Beach!

By AConnecticutMom2013 |

In addition to the dog park, which has a 20 pounds and under separate section, there is a walkway to the beach-on the Gulf. Nice beach, and for the most part, all dogs on the beach are under control. They request dogs be leashed if they aren't under control without a leash. Dogs are swimming, fetching, greeting one another, meeting new people, and generally having a great time. As long as everyone picks up after their dog, this is a nice park and beach to visit with your dog.

Doggone fun!

By BAR845 |

Great fun! So glad that the County has set aside a place for dogs to enjoy FL beaches. All the dogs behaved very well the day we went. We were afraid our old dog would be a crabby old man but he was polite and enjoyed watching the other dogs play. He is getting toward the end so didn't have the energy to join in but glad he had a good day. Hope doggie heaven is like this.

Great Dog Park - Tire Your Pups Out with A Day Out

By scoopC5 |

Great well kept dog beach. Wish that EVERYONE would pick up after their dog. Several piles around as some do not care.
They have a working rinse area with two hoses that allow dogs to lose the sand they have gathered.
Lots of nice dog owners and overall tolerant of one of our dogs who likes to be dominant and attempt to hump despite our best efforts.
Do watch your animals and bring lots of drinking water especially in July it is really hot.

Off leash Dog Beach and Safe too!

By CarolAnnWrigley |

We are always looking for safe off leash parks for our furry friends. this Paw Park is great! And has a Beach too. Now, you will need to keep and eye out for your pups, due to the grassy area behind the beach is not fenced. But the fresh lake is fenced. And we have seen alligators in the fresh lake. But usually not a problem for our dogs they are enamored with the ocean. We have two dogs the medium ones swims, the big one gets in to his chest only. There is a wash station we you are through, so take some doggy shampoo. and your pups will be out the rest of the day. a great workout. And oh! if you are attentive, you may find a sharks tooth or two!

Great place for dogs

By Susan G |

My dogs love to come here and everyone is very nice! They start to get excited the minute we head over the bridge by the airport and then the fun begins once we get there! I saw a large gator across the fence in the pond along the walkway to the beach. But now gators near the dog area.

Sand and surf

By Beth S |

The fenced in areas of this park are fine. The real appeal is the dog beach. What happy puppies! Rolling in the sand, chasing the waves (or running away from them), making new friends. On the day of our visit there were many dogs and people. I was impressed by how compatible they all were and how mindful everyone was of each others' pups.

Fun Was Had!

By Paula M |

This beach area was fantastic, even for my 18 yr old Dachshund! It was nice they had separate play areas for Small and Large dogs outside the beach. Several gates to help prevent pets from scurrying out was well thought out! Once on the beach, (Much larger than expected!) everyone was well behaved and we didn't have any issues with larger dogs coming to give a quick sniff and say Hi to my little Sandy! Owners were well behaved as well, while looking after and picking up after their dogs! Granted .... Bad dogs and unattentive Owners could produce a different outcome; however, we had a Fantastic time and would look forward to returning! Our only pseudo semi-complaint was ... there was no hose wash in the little dog area.

One of the best beaches to visit if you have or like dogs.

By Dennis M |

We Loved watching the dogs play with each other in the surf. Very entertaining and also a good place to watch the sunset. This beach is just within sight of Sharky's fishing pier which is also a place to wind down and finish that perfect day with a few drinks and a bite to eat while watching the sun go down over the water. Sharky's out on the pier is a place where many come after sunset to fish for sharks. We managed to take some great sunset photos in which we shared with our friends at both of these places on the beach.

Best dog park within 100 miles

Clean, fun, beach is large, has a separate play area near parking for small and large dogs. Plenty of cleanup bags and trash cans. Easy access.

Awesome place to play with your fur children

By mcderby |

I love taking my three dogs to the beach. You walk into a fenced in dog park first. The park has tables, grassy areas and a place to wash your dog after the beach. You go through another gate down a sidewalk to the beach. The beach is clean and a great way to have fun swimming with your dog. Lots of trash cans, park provides poop bags. Bring chairs for the beach. The dogs like to pee on things.

It was wonderful

By Jeana P |

The gulf waters were beautiful and the beach was clean. When we were there, the dogs were well behaved and enjoying time with their owners, rather than running wild. Our two little puppy girls enjoyed the water and time at the beach. I wish we had time to return!

Dogs Do Smile!

By stephisland |

Great beach for dogs to run and play. The park provides separate areas for dogs that are overwhelmed with too many other animals. They also have great shower amenities, and fresh water for the dogs.

Great Dog Park on the Beach

By James S |

We are from central Florida and the dog parks around us are nice but we only have a couple dog beaches near us and they are still an hours drive away.( New Symerna beach or Flagler Beach.) They both are leash on parks. The people we met at this park were friendly and seemed happy to be as happy to be outside enjoying the beach as the dogs. The park is geared toward the dog owner family and makes all the appropriate needs for your outing for you and your best friend enjoyable. Wish we had a park like this in our area.

What a RIOT! My dog was in Heaven.

Your dog will love you even more!

By Marilyn E |

I don't know who has more fun at this beach..the dogs or the owners. Such a great place to take your dog(s). There is a very clean park with play area before man's best friend enters a beautiful walkway down to the beach. So much fun to let your dogs go free and enjoy all the new smells. Each time I go my 9 yr old Shih Tzu loves it more! And it's a free attraction!

Wonderful place

By Kayla L |

Best dog park ever! The area is clean and there are separate yards for small and large dogs. There is a beautiful walkway out to the beach where the dogs can play. Everyone is friendly and the dogs were all well behaved. There is a dog wash and restrooms near the main entrance.

Definitely a place for dog lovers

By Adrian B |

The sand was a bit too hot for my little guy so I had to carry him to the water. I would suggest bringing water for your pet to drink, and make sure you have doggie bags. It was really fun, but you do have to watch your dog closely. My dog ran circles around one guy chasing another dog so I keep him on a leash (plus he's a flight risk). The other dogs can and will nip your dog or run them over if you have a little pup. So you just have to be careful. Otherwise it was a fun experience. It was really nice to be able to clean my dog off before they got in the car. We didn't stay long because it wore us both out, and my pup fell asleep like a baby on the ride home, which couldn't be more than 5 minutes away.

So much fun! Clean and safe...

By luv2travel_KeyWest |

My pooch had the time of his life...it was a riot. All kinds and sizes of dogs. I was very comfortable letting my little pooch run free without a lead. We went back twice on our one week visit to the area.

Beach Dog

By lori b |

A rarity to have a dog park with a beach. A beautiful beach to enjoy with your dog.
Generally clean with people picking up after their canines. As with any dog park, there are times when we see people being irresponsible with picking up after their dogs and with behavior problem dogs but I would say for the most part, people are attentive to both. There are 2 hoses so you can bath ur dog after swimming . All in all a nice park.

Nice space for dogs

By buckigirl51 |

The Paw Park is a good place for dogs and the humans who love them. Personally I don’t want my dogs to run around in a public place unleashed, so I buck the norm and keep our dogs leashed. However, most dogs run free here, and there has never been a problem with the unleashed dogs who come up to greet us. The beach area allotted to dogs could be bigger and parking is at a premium, especially on the weekend., but overall I would have to recommend this spot.

Joy to behold!

By Nadine B |

Want some joy in your life? There's nothing like watching a bunch of dogs at the beach to see what true joy is! A great place for dogs and their people too!

Great option; depends on the company

By Crista S |

We have a well-behaved dog who loves to run and play. We took her by the park to do just that, with other dogs around. She loved the sand but the waves freaked her out a bit. The entry area is set up beautifully for people and pups, and most of the owners were friendly. A few seemed snootier than necessary and were wary of our dog since they have smaller animals. However, based on the park itself and not the people within, this is a great option for traveling canine families.

Dog park and comes with dog droppings

By denver88 |

Yes, a dog beach. It comes with dog droppings and at times smells near any vegetation of urine. This place can't be healthy for dogs or humans and does contribute to polluting the Gulf and things going on with Red Tide. There is no one monitoring the dog droppings of pet owners and thus this place, until it gets a good washing out from Gulf waves/tide, can be disgusting.

Happy dogs

By Larry S |

What a great place for your dog. There is a dog park and then a short walk to the dog beach where our fur friends can run and play and swim. Hope people do not ruin it by taking their dogs beyond the boundaries.

Dog and people friendly

By Patrick L |

Brohard is the only dog-friendly beach in the area. It is kept clean, and dogs and people were friendly and respectful.

Amazing time!

By rachellewis88 |

We stumbled upon this place when we brought our dog on vacation with us from Indiana and searched for dog friendly beaches. This was the 2nd one we tried and our favorite by far! The beach was very nice and clean, as well as the water. It was beautiful, blue and clear. All the dogs and owners were courteous and like a little community for the day. I can't express how much fun our entire family had. Our dog who has never been to the beach felt totally comfortable and had a blast! What an awesome amenity! For someone who works at a doggy daycare this place was like heaven for me. Will absolutely be back any time we are in Florida with our pooch. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.

Paradise for pups!

By elizarenn |

The Brohard Paw Park and beach is the main reason we took a vacation to Sarasota. My husband and I wanted a place where we could enjoy the sand and surf with our dog at the same time. This place exceeded our expectations.

For one thing, dogs can be off leash. That's a BIG plus. The entrance is controlled by a chain-link fence so owners can get their pets to the beach safely. The approach is well maintained. There are bathrooms for the humans and poop bags for the pups. Once you emerge onto the beach there are dogs and dogs and dogs, some running around playing in the sand, some rolling in the sand, some hanging out with their people, some in the water. For the most part it's all very well controlled. Every once in a while there's a dog that runs away from his person, or a person who ignores his dog making a poop, but for the most part everyone is responsible and caring.

The sun can become rough for a pup, so remember to bring some shade. I saw some dogs seeking the shade of other families. And bring fresh water. Again, I saw some pups looking for water because their people didn't have any.

This beach was perfect for people and pets both. It was one of the nicest beaches I've been on in a while. The water was clear and fairly calm, and the stretch of sand designated for dogs is plenty big. We will be going back to the Sarasota area. I wish more cities would follow the lead of Brohard.

Great dog beach. Make the trip. Everyone very responsible with their pets. Nice sand in most areas some with a lot of sharp sea shells

Dogs are fun

By drjonesphd |

This was our second visit this month to the dog beach where almost everyone plays together and behaves.. the people are pleasant and the dogs are friendly the water was a little chilly today. the last time we all got in the water.. so much fun for our dogs to mingle with others.. Definitely worth the trip even if you have to drive a little bit

Fun in the Sun with the Pups

By sueinveniceflorida |

Dog beach is usually fun. It can get problematic if there is a inconsiderate owner in the area. Usually there is fun for all. The entrance is fenced and there is a separate small dog area. Water is available as well as a rinsing area for the dogs. Pick-up bags are provided. Whats not to like? Limited parking. Go and have fun, pick up after Fido and keep pups hydrated.

One really messed up don't here whether one has a dog or not

By Cari C |

We absolutely enjoyed this place to the max! One posting here says there was dog poop everywhere. We saw absolutely none. Every dog and every owner we encountered was very well behaved. Nice sandy beach with a few shells. Dogs can be off leash. There is a dog washing station where you can wash your dog up after he or she leaves the beach. It is also free.

Good for dogs

By perryaam |

A nice small beach along the way to Caspersen's beach for your dog. At times, it is a bit crowded.Dogs love barking at the ocean.

Dog heaven!

By Rosemary-NY |

While the beach isn’t the fine white sands of other Siesta Key beaches, the water was a brilliant turquoise and the dogs — all of them! — were playful and friendly. It was a delightful spot for dogs and the people who love them!

Awesome dog beach

By Klara P |

Nice dog park with areas for both small and large breeds.
We loved the beach. Sizeable dog beach, plenty of area to run and swim. 2 fresh water stations with hoses to rinse off salty-sandy dogs.

ONLY BEACH IN SARASOTA COUNTY THAT ALLOWS DOGS

By Tricia B |

Dog beach

By Lisa B |

The city did this right. Nice entry right on to the beach. Dogs can run freely, unleashed. Great location, lots of fun!

Great spot for a short visit

By Scott E |

Awesome to have great pet beach access in such a prime location. Parking is somewhat limited on busy days, but access is very easy. Most owners and dogs are very friendly and well socialized. Note dogs are often off leash so be prepared if your dog is not used to being approached. Beach itself is very nice, but not big enough for extended long walks. A great experience, definitely worth checking out.

Dog paradise

By jen_berube |

I love that this is an off-leash dog beach. My dog was so happy. He swam and played with fellow dogs. There's fresh water available to wash off dirt once you and your pups are ready to leave.

If you don't want to bring your dogs to the water, there's also a small park where dogs can run around and play catch.

Fantastic

By njcg |

Too bad it is such a small strip of beach that is open to dogs. The remainder of the beach south is always empty. The dog park is so busy it needs more beach.

Perfect beach with dogs

By May-Ree N |

Beautiful parks and beach for dogs!! Well maintained and everyone is friendly! Super nice area! Had a great day.

Nice Beach, not busy

By Ott2fly |

This beach was not busy. There are a lot of shells and we found small black shark's teeth. The sand is a mix of black and white course grains. Plenty of parking, clean bathrooms and handy showers. The boardwalk to the beach was nice, too.

We go every day we are here

By Tania M |

Our dogs demand the dog park every morning, it is tradition and the 2 dogs and 2 of us love it. It is very clean as dog owners appreciate having the beach so all garbage gets picked up. Very few un-neutered dogs anymore and very rare to have problems. Occasionally, there is some loud talk and a scuffle between dogs because, they are dogs!!!

Love this place

By Sharon P |

My husband, border collie, and I have always had a great experience at this beach. Friendly pups and friendly people abound. Everyone we've met (dogs and people alike) are respectful. We like to hang out near the dunes and enjoy the comings and goings of others, as well as walk the length of the dog beach and play in the water with our pup.

Why we retired to Venice Fl

By Claire G |

We love this paw park with Gulf beach access. Large beach area for off-leash play. This is the only beach for dogs in a fifty-mile radius. Plenty of waste bags and cans for waste disposal. Only a few problems here and most are with the dog owners n o t the dogs. As long as you have realistic expectations about how dogs act around each other, you shouldn't have any problems. We have three active dogs and this is why we chose Venice for our retirement home.

Outstanding Dog Park o the Gulf

By Mike B |

This dog park is the best we have ever used.
Dogs are allowed off leash to enjoy the gulf water and run on the beautiful beach..
The beach is very clean - cleanup bags are conveniently provided.
They even have a dog shower to clean your pooch up on your way out!

Dog Beach

By Cori H |

Nice part of venice beach but the dogs run wild....and a lot of the owners are rude & don't pick up after their dogs. We've gone several time, but won't be back.

Fun for dogs and their people

By Subtropicaldaze |

Heart warming experience. People are very careful to pick up after their dogs and to keep dogs that need to be on a leash...On a leash. We miss being dog owners so we go there to get our doggie fix. Some dogs love to swim and others like to sit close to their people and watch. Double gated to prevent doggie escapes. Check it out to see if you think this is right for you and your doggie. You can see the Sharkey's pier from Paws Park.

Doggie park!

Great chance for pups to eat white caps! Fun! Bring you dog to the beach and they do get filthy, but have fun.

What a great dog beach!

By David H |

Took our Lab Bos'n to the Brohard dog beach in Venice, FL, today. 78 F. Sunny. Gorgeous beach day.
What a dog heaven!
A hundred or more dogs milling around and running up and down the beach and into and out of the water. Labs, Goldens and what have you all vying for frisbees and tennis balls.
Bos'n thinking that each toy was his own and charging into the water to get it ahead of any other dog. Busy having to reunite items to their proper owners/dogs.
Kudos to the County for this great beach and to the dog owners for cleaning up after their pets.
Bos'n ingesting lots of saltwater at each charge. Repeat. Repeat.
Went to lunch later at a waterfront restaurant that allows dogs.
Regurge, regurge. (It has been said by a dog that it is better to have eaten it once, barfed it up and eaten it again than never to have eaten it at all). Poor boy didn't get a chance to do so before the staff cleaned it up.
All in all, a perfect dog day.

Thank you Sarasota County!!!

By citygirlcountrygirl |

One of the reasons we traveled to this area was because it had this dog beach. While not super huge, the beach is a joyful place to celebrate life! Happy dogs, friendly owners and clean, I would come here for the sheer joy of it if I didn’t have a dog.
Plentiful with doggie bags we found no poop that someone failed to pick up. It’s clear that the people value this place and strive to treat it well.
It’s nice and quiet in the mornings and more crowded later in the day.
We are grateful for this spot even though our own dog won’t go in the water!

Dogs love the surf.

By dor2427 |

Thanks Venice for providing a beach spot for dogs. Additionally a hose to wash the dogs off and a shaded area to run them while they dry off a bit. The beach section is large enough for dogs to choose to interact or not.

I brought my 2 pups and even my cat (he stayed in his carrier) and we all had the best time! It's a beautiful beach and is well maintained and very clean. No fences on the beach itself, but everyone seemed to pay pretty good attention to their pups. Wasn't overly crowded when we were there. A beautiful place to watch the Sunset!

Very nice dog park

By psmilsky |

We have a small dog and have been going to several, dog parks in the Sarasota Venice area. This was the nicest one we have gone to. There was a nice section of grassy fenced in area for large and small dogs and then you can take the dog to the beach which is a rare thing here. Our dog loved it and it was a nice experience for all of us.

Dogs Run Free

By Rose Marie |

I am not a dog owner but have friends who are. They are so pleased to grant the privilege of running free to their beloved pooches. Fun for me to observe the dog visitors introducing themselves. Their human companions just have to follow suit and one can see small bunches of humans chatting with one another while the canine frisk about. Nice variation of the leash laws. Just another thing that makes Venice Fl a great place to visit.

Our dog loves coming here, so do we

By Tania M |

Nice walk from the dog park to the beach. Great beach with lots of pups enjoying themselves. We come as often as possible.

Fun dog park

By Lisa S |

Love this dog park! Watching the dogs running into the ocean & chasing each other is so much fun if you're dog lover like me.

Fun to watch the dogs!

By Burgesskpc |

This is a dog beach! The dogs interact with each other. The labs and golden retrievers (and similar breeds) generally get on in to the ocean to retrieve tennis balls, sticks, favorite toys, or whatever. It is something to behold if you like animals. Watch your step, going in and coming out in that not all the dog owners are attentive to clean-up. Nonetheless, this is an interesting place to people-watch and dog-watch.

Great dog park and beach in Venice Florida

By asmith352 |

Have been coming to this dog beach for a few months now and it is always a great time. Not too crowded and have yet to see any problems between any dogs. Beach is clean and they supply bags to clean up after your dog. Even have hoses to rinse your pet after conning out is the sea water. We travel 3 hours just to bring our dog here... yes it is that nice of a beach.

People are always rude

By tipsytippy |

Love the beach itself. It has a grass play yard before you get to the beach with a dog wash area. The only downside is i used to go every weekend with my two pitbulls, needless to say i don't go there anymore. The people are very rude every single time we go. My dogs are very friendly and well behaved despite their bad rep and they have even been bullied by other dogs there but yet i am the one that has to deal with people being mean to me and my dogs over the breed that they are. If you have a "bully" breed you wont be welcomed here.

Woof, Woof Sniff, Sniff. Great dog beach park!

We enjoyed having our dog on vacation and the highlight of our trip was taking him to Paw Park in Venice, Florida. What a beautiful beach for humans and dogs. Lots of room for the dogs to play and interact and the humans to enjoy a beautiful beach. We drove from Siesta Key to Venice just for this opportunity and it was AWESOME!

Fun Place

By Bob M |

Our dog loved this pet friendly beach. She told us so!
The parking situation can be a challenge on weekends but during the week we didn't have any problems.

nice and relaxing

By jes_kitty7 |

love being able to have a beach where dogs are allowed, they are a part of the family. definitely going to come back

Great dog beach

By incoming4blood |

We have taken our basset hound to this beach many time and have always had a wonderful experience. Allows dogs to run free and enjoy themselves with other dogs. Have facilities to wash off your pet before getting them back into your car.

Nice

By John U. |

A great dog beach. I was surprised how well behaved all the dogs were. A nice place to watch a sunset if you don't want to leave your dog behind.

Still wonderful!

By Kathleen M |

I wrote a review of the dog park two years ago and thought it was time to return. It remains a favorite for both me and my dog. Maxwell likes to swim and fetch his rubber fish, going out as often and as far as I throw it.

There are occasional problems with unsupervised dogs but since we go in the evening the crowds are gone and there might be no more than 25 dogs there. We have never had any issues ourselves but others have complained about aggressive dogs with unconcerned owners.

There are always a few people who fail to clean up after their dogs but for the most part everyone helps to maintain the beach and park. Poop bags and trash cans are conveniently placed.

It would be nice if drinking water for the dogs was piped to the beach and it would be nice if the grass was cut and mulch spread more often at the park. Sometimes it is hard to find poop in the long grass and there are frequently large patches of dirt that turn to mud with rain.

This is a very special place to enjoy with your four footed family member. All those with two feet will have fun at this beach, too.

Great local amenity for dogs

By StarzDav |

So glad to find a dog friendly beach! Enter through a standard dog park with shade, water, and rinsing station. Follow the path to the beach... You might want to leash your dog on the path if he's curious about the marshy area along the way. On the beach, small and large dogs are not separated, but it seems to work fine as there's so much room for them to run, dig, sniff and swim. There is no fresh drinking water for them on the beach, so bring your own if you plan to stay a bit.

Great Place to Take Dogs ( A few terrible pet owners)

By huntrer57 |

This a great place to take a dog, but you will find a few dogs running loose while there owners are setting on there lazy a.. not paying attention to there dogs. Dogs will defecate on the beach and the owners do not clean it up. The park has a place to wash your dogs off after being on the beach, there just needs to be more responsible pet owners or a dog warden to ticket owners for not watching there dogs. That is why I gave a poor rating.

Took my two Bostons there

By bevvie72 |

Large beach area for dogs. Took my two Boston's there last week. I kept my dogs on a leash just to be safe, but most dogs ran loose with no problems. Bags are provided for clean up. I didn't see any messes.

Tops number one. Never a problem with another dog.

By Janice O |

We would visit early morning, and usually sunset. Enjoyed seeing such a happy group of dogs. Every owner watched their dog closely too.

Great beach for big dogs

By Wendy B |

We used to live in the area, but seldom took our small dogs. The big dogs just get to rough for my taste. I still enjoy visiting the beach to watch the other dogs play. It is sadly one of the few places in Venice that I would say is not very friendly. I have never understood why the people are so snobby, but it wouldn't keep me from going. The dogs can't help it if their owners aren't nice.

Our Golden LOVES Brohard!

By Jodi G |

Awesome dog beach park in Venice, FL! We were frequent flyers here while we were living in Venice and our Golden LOVED it!!

Love taking our pup to this off-leash dog park/beach

By Lisa |

It is a Christmas tradition to spend the day at the beach and what can be better than to be able to bring the dog along too?

Was a little busy today but still plenty of space to find a good spot in the sand, enjoy the sun and gentle surf. So many friendly people at this beach, locals and vacationers abound here in "bird" season; everyone around has a common interest... their dogs.

Parking is free. On good weather days you should plan to get there a little bit early or use the overflow parking lot south of the area of the dog park. You will find restrooms and showers (north of dog park area) as well as a place to hose the sand off of your pooch in the fenced dog area. Bring along water and poop bags to the beach area for your pet please.

Best off-leash dog beach ever!

By susanproperyoga |

What a great way to spend the day with your dogs, family and friends. A beautiful white sand off-leash dog beach on the gulf coast - no shade but very well maintained with showers, waste bags and waste containers. Everyone was very friendly and observed the behavior of their dogs. Bring your sun umbrella, cooler, water for the dogs and get set to have a great time. Oh and sometimes there's a wave or two for the boogie board!

Doggie Pandamonia

By Tim H |

This is a great place to let your dog off the lease and let them go. Lots of friendly folks. Beautiful Gulf sunsets! Rub my belly!

What fun!

By Dianna P |

We stopped here because we were not traveling with our pets! What fun to see an area where pets were welcomed. The perfect "fix" for lonely pet parents to see the dogs romping on the sands. Nice to know that there is a place where pets are more than welcomed!

Great family beach you can even spend your day with you dog!

By Mopatterson1 |

We love this beach we don't got to the other beaches much. Our little baby《Nino》. A Chihuahua loves to swim in the Ocean in his life vest. And play with the other dogs that are there. Even when we
Think it's to hot for Nino to be out on the sand we go to this beach . It is so much cleaner than the public beaches. The dog people pick up after there pets and those that don't get picked up after but told the rules. Everyone keeps an eye on all the dogs.

Relaxing and fun pup adventure

By Destini C |

Had no idea what to expect when we came here, but it by far exceeded my expectations. It was so relaxing not having to worry about my pup being tied up the entire time while at the beach and getting to see her run around and finally get comfortable with the water. If I lived near here we'd go all of the time. Everyone there was so friendly too!

Closed for repairs in June 2021

By BeBe53207 |

We could use it only one time before they closed for repairs… was a great place to take our furry friend and he’s sad !!! Looked well maintained— had a beach area just for the pups!! Water stations in the park part!

awesome dog park and beach

By Shakira Shania F |

I love to be on the beach with my Family and my Dog, she loves it so much because she meets other dogs and she loves to make new friends and we do to. We are from Switzerland and we go to Florida every year once or twice, because we love the weather, specially in summer thats why we always go in summer over there and we never knew theres this beach in venice and when we tried it it was so cool. I love it so much.

Friendly dogs and owners

By BXT49 |

We arrived just in time to catch the sunset. There were lots of friendly dogs, both large and small. Some enjoyed the surf, but many, like ours, just romped around on the sand. No charge for parking or to access the dog park.

It will make you smile.

By roseonline |

It's a little hard to find if you are not from the area. When you do find it you will love it. There is a separate park for small dogs and for large dogs. All the dogs there on this day were a joy. The park is shafy and has doggy poo bags available for use. As always there are a few humans that din't clean up. Especially right before you go into the park gates. Come on guys pick up after your dog. They have a dog shower to clean them off after they play at the beach and roll in the sand. Our lab Maggie loved running into the surf and rolling in the sampnd making hersekf into a sugar cookie. I laughed and smiled a lit watching tge dogs interact. It truely looked like a bunch of little kids running and playing in the water. I will definitely come back.

Take you dog to the beach

By happypappy714 |

Walk through the fenced dog park and onto the beach where you dog can run free! Every year that we come this is a must stop for out dogs. After playing at the beach, they are just exhausted for days!!! Provides a fenced dog park with washing station -- one for large and one for small.

My Dog's favorite place to visit

By REDDHOT |

It's a great park for dogs. However, the alligator signs make me scared for myself and my dog to go there. We did not see any and there were signs for red tide on half the entrances so I am still not sure if it was safe to bring our dog there or not.

Best doggie park in the area

By Richard A |

We take our dogs frequently. We have never run into overly aggressive dogs there. We have little dogs and all the other dogs get along pretty well. Everyone is friendly and the dogs run free. If you're going through figure withdrawal on your vacation to Venice, stop by the doggie beach and get your fill of dog loving.

Our dog's favorite place

By Jon B |

If you have a dog who enjoys regular fenced in dog parks, then this place will blow your dog's mind. They have a couple fenced in areas by the parking lot, but they lead to a path down to the beach. Technically, you're supposed to re-leash the dogs between the fenced in area and the beach. We didn't realize this the first day, but then read a sign indicating this. Once you get down to the beach, the dogs are free to romp around. There are poop bag stations, so please clean up after your pet. Every now and then you find a stray turd. All the dogs and people we met were great. If you plan on sitting on a towel, just be prepared to have some dogs occasionally run over you. Make sure to bring some water. Our dog loves to swim and he gets really thirsty thanks to the salt water.

IF YOU HAVE A

Dog lovers’ paradise

By Lgo |

The beach was beautiful and clean, and loved watching all the dogs, especially the ones that loved the water. Ours needed to be coaxed into the ocean. 😆 will definitely come back again!

Great place to take pluto

By LeeBBoston |

We had a great time at Brohard Paw Park and beach and more importantly - so did our dog. THere are dogs of all sizes and they were almost all well behaved. Those that weren't need new owners

Doggie beach

By littlekelly1976 |

This is a great place for your dog's to run and play! Lots of clean up bags, a dog wash area, and soooooo many happy dogs running and playing on the beach! It's Disneyland for dogs!

A wonderful dog park/beach

By thriftyaunty |

What an amazing place to bring your dog. There is plenty of free parking and entrance into the park is free as well. There is a large fenced in area with plenty of shade right off of the parking area, then you can follow a long path down to the ocean. The beach is not fenced off, it is just marked by signage on either side. Everyone was respectful and cleaned up after their dogs, the beach was very clean compared to another one we had been at on this vacation. Red tide was not a problem on this particular day. Once the fun is over there is a dog bathing area as you exit.

If you have a Dog it is a must!

By HaroldCA |

Your heart will melt to see so many happy dogs. It is great! I suggest you go early if you dont want to encounter hundreds of dogs.

Checking it out

By Denise916 |

My husband and I love dogs and will be getting one soon. We wanted to check it out. It was a lot of fun to watch the dogs running around, swimming, fetching and just having a great time. We are looking forward to bringing our new dog there next winter.

The best dog beach we have been to

By Jodi |

We visited from Orlando and have been to dog beaches all over the state, from the Panhandle to Key West and this is the best dog beach we have been to. The water was beautiful, plenty of room and lots of dogs to play with. There is an area where you can give your dog a well needed bath before you leave as well. Just be careful as the sand gets very hot and can burn your feet and your pup's paws as well! Found lots of shark with my strainer in the water as well.

Outrageously Great Dog Beach

By Karen P |

I love this beach. I have no use for the other beautiful beaches in Venice. I would come here even if I didn’t have a dog. I love this beach so much, that I purchased a beach cart, umbrella and beach chairs. I am only here for two months and cannot take any of this home with me, but I don’t care. The people are very friendly as are most dogs. If any problem develops among or between dogs, the owners intervene immediately. There is no loud music blaring. In fact there is no music at all. The age of most beach goers is between 45-85. There are some younger people and grandchildren but not many. The dogs have the best time in the world! Those that love the water are able to swim out into the Gulf and fetch. The Gulf has been very calm most of January and February. Our Labrador retriever does not like the water; however, he is in love with the other dogs and people and will do Zoomies around the whole beach…a very large and spacious beach. The beach is clean, has a great walkway from the parking lot, offers hundreds of poop bags and is well-maintained. There are showers for humans and for dogs. There is a drinking fountain for both. There are restroom facilities off the parking lot. I love this beach! Shhhh….don’t tell anyone about it : -)

Happy dogs

By cyrus341 |

An open area of beach, lots of dogs, laid back owners. Great dog interaction. An area is provided to wash the salt and sand off your pooch. Excellent.

Beautiful beach park

By Shimmer1176 |

Hands down the best dog park! There is a small fenced in area up front with a dog bath. The beach is in back. A regular beach suitable for a family day out if you don't mind the pups! Owners are very good about clean up.

Fun place for dogs and dog lovers alike

By revreikind |

It is always fun to visit this park whether you bring a dog with you or just come to watch them frolic in the water.

Love this place

By Jen H |

Great park! Fenced in large and small dog areas are located off the beach if that is more your speed. But the off leash beach area is great. Because it was January, it wasn’t packed and there weren’t too many dogs swimming. As with all dog parks, there are always a few folks here and there that don’t adequately control their dogs or don’t realize their dog has pooped because they are busy socializing but it happens...but overall it is a wonderful experience.

Dogs Rule

By janePortland_ME |

Happened upon this spot while staying in Venice for a week. It seemed the dogs were all smiling! Running in and out of the water FREE FREE FREE...... very secure, fenced dog park just off the parking lot - after exiting dog park easy walk to the beach where you can let 'em loose! Even if you don't own a dog - you can get your dog fix here!!

The Beach has gone to the dogs!

By Robin F |

If you like dogs and like the beach, what could be better than that? I have brought our dogs here on many occasions. You can use the hoses and wash your dogs before you leave. Most dogs are friendly and behave well.

Great place for the bigger dogs to run and play in the sun and sand!

By RobertH1961 |

We have two smaller dogs, and don't go to the beach but about once or twice a year and they'd rather sit in the shade and watch. HOWEVER - the bigger dogs love to run and jump in the ocean and chase tennis balls. One guy had his favorite Frisbee that he'd retrieve and bury in the sand and dig right back up. It was a lot of fun watching them play! My only complaint is parking - there isn't a lot of it and two people decided the "No Parking" didn't apply to them and they blocked the exit so everyone had to back up and turn around in the parking lot. REALLY?!?! How rude!

Dog heaven

By Lolly’s Look |

The Bohard Paw Park is a beach that permits dogs. We took a walk over from the pier and saw a few digs enjoying the beach and swimming. It’s a pretty quiet area.

Poop Hazard

By 222mildred |

We have a lab mix and a bichon, both friendly and well-behaved. We went to the dog park without either of them to check it out. I loved the dog washing stations in the fenced area. After spending a short time on the beach, we decided that it was not a place we could take our dogs. There were just so many unsupervised dogs, some being quite aggressive. My poor babies would have freaked. I enjoyed the time watching the dogs play though, because I didn't have to worry about mine. Unfortunately, there was a whole lotta poopin' goin' on and not so much picking up.

Perfect for larger dogs

By GAB51 |

This is an awesome place to take your dog especially large dogs. My dog is small so we don't go very often. It is one of the few dog beaches in our area. There's something about dog owners… they are all so friendly and helpful! You can ask anyone for help or advice, especially good for first timers!

Busy busy

By Mike B |

If you really like dogs you'll love this place. If you're grossed out by dog crap everywhere and being run over by hyper dogs than stay away. Place was crowded and the grass area and walkway to the beach had a lot of dog crap everywhere. Can't really understand some people don't clean up after their pets.

Dogs get to be dogs!

By Cathy D |

This is a beautiful beach that happens to allow dogs - off leash! There is a dog park separated into large and small areas if you don't want to go to the beach. They also have a dog washing area to get the sand off. We had a blast at the beach with Wagabond (Bonbon) our Newfie. Don't miss it.

Gog swim

By j1macken |

Great beach and lots of energetic dogs. Beautiful blue water and sand for pooches to run in. Occasionally have to separate the dogs.

Heaven on earth

By Victoria K |

What a wonderful place, our dog is in heaven every time he visits. There is a wide expanse of beach for all dogs to play. A must if you have a dog!

A decent dog park

By Jesy S |

Unfortunately you have to be careful when taking your dog to the beach. Too many un-neutered dogs spoiling for a fight. Not the dogs fault, but the owners. And way too many people not watching their dogs and therefore not picking up after them. Again, owners faults and not dogs. Our dogs were on a big brand name prevention and still continued to get round works there. So we had to stop going. Also the city tests the water in that area and it's not good to swim in.

First rate dog beach

By glasslander |

We brought our 2 pugs here and had a blast! The beach is pretty and spacious. The best part were the people and dogs—so friendly and helpful. We accidentally left a dog collar by the dog wash area and some kind dog parent called to return it to me. The adjoining dog park has an aforementioned wash area, covered seating, and poop bags—all you need.

Slice of heaven for your furry family members...

By Paula S |

Brohard Paw Park is nice. The best part is walking out onto the beach and letting your dog run free to socialize and get plenty of exercise in a beautiful setting.

Room to Run!

By Audrey K |

Great place to bring our Granddog for running and socializing. Wonderful rinse off area and friendly group of people.

Dog day afternoon

By dyoccodine |

This place is the greatest. Not only do the pups have a grand time, so do the two legged occupants. Highly recommend it.

Great exercise for dogs & fun to watch

By jokt2016 |

My dog had a blast running up and down the beach "chasing" waves. Most of the bigger dogs are very well behaved. The little ones tend to snap. Opposite of what one would think.... When another dog got close, I just put mine back on the leash.
Wash station was a little wait, but not terrible.

DOG BEACH

By cynthia b |

We re so glad there is a beach in the area that is for the dogs! Not everyone wants to share their beach time with dogs running and playing in packs. This part of the beach is set aside for those of us that think it's a great way to play on the beach. Waste stations and wash station are convenient. There are separate fenced areas for small and larger dogs The beach is wide open and our lives are better vecause the paw park exists!

Dog Beach

By twobop |

Have been coming here for some time. It's great to be able to mingle with other dog lovers. Come for the day bring ur umbrella and pup enjoy the water ,sand ,sun.

Awesome place for dogs

By Joanne H |

If you are in the area with your dog, this is the place to be!!! You will not regret it and your dog will thank you. We have been coming here for years with our two little dogs and they just love it. When we arrive in the parking lot, they just go crazy in the car because they know they will have a blast!! To our surprise every time is that all the dogs (big or small) get along. It is quite an experience ....

Lots of fun animals!!

By RossS501 |

Nice place to let your dog run free and frolic. Be careful of the people who do not pick up after their dogs. Don't be afraid to remind these types to pick up the poop. Always a small % who ruin it for everyone. Still a great time was had by all and met some very nice people and their pets.

Too many beachgoeonrs doing their own thing, instead of following the guidlines

By Mitch B |

The park area between the parking lot and the beach was rather unkept. As you make your way to the beach there is clear signage stating what the expectations are for everyone to have an enjoyable time. Many of the dog owners let their pet off the leash, many were swimming without paying attention to what their pet was doing.

Love this beach.

By maureenf1978 |

This is a great place to visit if your dog loves the beach. There are tons of dogs running around. It is clean and safe.

THE POSTER CHILD FOR DOG PARKS!!!

By JMPC1958 |

WOW!!! Great grassy play area with nice hose off station for after the beach. Nice fenced walk to the big, beautiful, immaculately clean beach. Truly a "human quality" beach. A treasure!!!We went several times and it was a 45 minute drive from our hotel, that's how much we loved it!!!

Passing through

By Jackman1 |

What a great beach front dog beach. Very clean with friendly dogs and owners having a great time, more towns need to set aside a stretch of beach.

Doggie Swiming

By skbooker09 |

This is a great doggie beach with good access to the water in a short walk. Owners often let their dogs run further than the dog beach off lead, not allowed and watched much more closely these days. Slightly crowded but great to watch.

Very nice to have, could be longer

By PypsandFriends |

It’s fantastic to have a piece of beach where dogs of all sizes are welcome! The only wish I have, it would be great if the stretch were longer - it takes no time to walk it from one designated end to the other.

A nice place to bring Fido if he behaves

By Rod K |

Paw Park on southern Harbor Drive fronts on the Gulf of Mexico and is very popular among dog owners. Bags are provided for pooch poop and there is plenty of space to let Fido mingle with other pooches and romp in the Gulf. If your dog is not good with other dogs, I would not recommend this however.

Dog's Beach

By Kc Q |

Worth a long drive to share a day on the beach with your four legged family! Washing station is a great plus to get the sand of puppy!

A great place for dog owners, except...

By Croixian1 |

for those who refuse to pick up their pet's waste. A dog takes a number two, the owner kicks some sand over it, then you walk in it with your flip flops. Definitely a case of one bad apple spoils the whole bunch.

DOGGONE good time!!!!!!

By Fahsta |

I love taking my sweet pups there. They get so excited when they know where we are going, me and my neighbors take their dogs as well......at least twice a month LOVE IT!!!!!

A beach for the dogs

By Ted D |

A great opportunity to take your pooch to the beach when you’re in Venice. The dogs love it and they can have a taste of the gulf. For dog lovers this is a special treat.

Cool to see dogs playing frisbee

By Paddler14 |

One of the few if only Gulf beaches in Sarasota County where dogs are allowed to run free with their owners. Looks great to see dog lovers and dogs having so much fun together. Highly recommend it.

Perfect pooch playground!

By R4290AAerich |

This is an amazing place to share with your dog! It's safe ( dogs protected by fences to keep them away from the road), the beach is large so lots of room for many dogs, clean-up bags are provided, and when it's time to go home, hoses to clean up your friend before he takes all the sand into your car!

great beach for the dogs

By Julie C |

We have been here before while on vacation. I love this clean area and the people are good about watching the dogs. It had high waves this time so my dogs wouldn't go in the water. So we didn't stay long.
I love the nice picnic fenced in area and the washstand for the dogs.

Great Doggy Day

By Jeremiah S |

This is a lovely park to come and let your dog have a great time splashing in the waves! If you have a little dog, you can choose to keep them in the separate small dog enclosure, but we love to take our dog out onto the beach and let her play with the other dogs. It's really fun to bring a picnic dinner and watch the sunset while your pup plays in the sand.

Best dog beach ever!

By Debi F |

OMG! This beach is fantastic! There are small and dog parks, not huge but ok. The beach is fabulous. Huge with great water. Our girl LOVES the water and had a great time. You can definitely take all your beach gear and spend the day as many did. I would recommend taking some cover for your dog even if you don’t need any. We went later in the day and stayed for the sunset but we are going back again.
There are bathrooms
There is a hose to clean the sand off your fur baby
There were MANY dogs and no problems. I don’t recommend taking a dog that doesn’t get along with others because the dogs are free to run.
This is definitely the place to go with your dog if he/she loves the water.

Dog fun park

By traceerae |

Doggies can get there dog on!! So fun to watch them play. Nice to have them run free! So many dogs, mostly all getting along. Did see a few not but if your dog isn't good with other dogs I'd not go. Pretty beach and if it's warm enough you can swim with your pooch!

What a fun place for a dog to be!

By Vera K |

My dogs love it there. As an owner, don't bring a blanket to sit on, You might get run over! Great place to meet other dog owners.

ITS ALOT

By JOEYGCentralWi |

BETTER, NOW THE SNOWBIRDS ARE GONE!!!!! right on the gulf,,perfect for your dog,,fenced in recieving area then down a path to the beach ,,probly 200 yards wide,,usually tennis balls around,,crap bags,,trash cans,,, go back out the same way ,,rinse your pet off and away you go

Dogs by the ocean

By cholette |

Fun time when you bring your dog to the beach. Big ones dive in the water, smaller ones run and run. You just have to be careful, not all dogs are friendly. If you don’t want to walk the beach there are 2 areas in the park to let the pooch loose.
When all done, there is water bowls and water hose to wash the paws, or more.
My two small dogs loved this beach and start getting crazy when we drive past the pier.
Week-end are quite busy.

Dog Heaven

By Briana K |

Unbelievable the fun the dogs were having on this beach. What a nice addition for pet owners. I wish when our dog was still alive that we could have gone here.

doggie heaven

By Ken B |

A wonderful place for dogs to run free and enjoy the sand and water. My dog can't wait when he sees we are in the parking area

Terrific sunsets, great time for the canine family

By Thomas S |

We took our dog Max to the beach to socialize with the other dogs, and to watch a beautiful sunset. We kept him on leash only because he would have jumped into the Gulf of Mexico and we had no way to dry him off. He was still able to meet some new friends, and being a social butterfly he enjoyed that immensely, and we got to see one of the many terrific sunsets in Venice Florida. Take your dog out for some great fun and a nice swim, and enjoy all that this beautiful area provides.

What's not to like?!?

By Lucysfriend |

Just last week we took our dog to Bonita Beach Dog Park. A very nice place for dogs but accessing it is a nightmare. You must walk through tidal pools that come up almost to your knees with your leashed dog, carrying your beach chair or not bringing anything and just standing around while your dog has a great time. I was sooo pleasantly surprised to see the easy access to Brohard Beach & Paw Park. Upon parking, bring your dog into the gated area to access the beach. You exit back gates to the path and boardwalk. Bring your chairs and an umbrella (or wear a hat) as there is no shade once you leave the wooded area and boardwalk. The water gets deeper relatively quickly (unlike Bonita Beach which is shallow for quite a distance). The dogs can romp on the waters edge or enjoy an actual swim. There is a hose to rinse your dog after a fun day. There are bathrooms and people showers before returning to the parking lot. I read a lot of reviews referring to odors. As you walk through the woods there is water under the boardwalk in places, almost like a bog. The odor is due to decay of roots and plant life. The dog beach is clean and it looks like people are trying to keep it that way. Take your four footed friend to the beach and enjoy!

Great place for park or beach play

By MICHELLE B |

This clean and shady dog park has a fenced in area, along with beach access. The fenced area has a separate 'small dog' area as well. The beach area has boundary signs so obey the signs! Just down a short bit is the public pier that has sharks at dusk- for that reason, please do not let your pet out of your sight! Aside from a few skirmishes, the dog beach is a nice venue. If your dog is timid or runs off, it's nice to have the fenced in area with picnic tables, water and hose, and a public restroom right next door.

Dog Lover Paradise

We brought our dog here last spring before she died. We returned today and spent 3 hours there enjoying other people's dogs.
Great place to go if you love dogs!

The Best Beach Around for Pups

By SkipCohen |

Molly the Wonder Dog is a Labradoodle - so being in the water chasing a tennis ball is standard procedure! LOL This beach is perfect for your pup to run - love the available fresh water hose to give her a bath before getting in the car and there's plenty of room for her to chase balls and be in the water.

Pets love it

By richard b |

Many people with all kinds of dogs go here. Just be sure to clean up after you pet. It is common courtesy and one of the rules.

You can enjoy great sunsets and all other beach amenities now with your dog

pets

By butzke2017 |

Since I always like pets it was fun seeing them play in the gulf. Everyone seemed to make sure the animals all behaved

It was ok

The park is ok, fenced for small and large dogs and close to the beach. Unfortunately there was a smell like rotten eggs, which am sure it wasn't anyone's fault, but made it hard to enjoy. The beach had dead fish and red tide, so not much to enjoy. Also, was very hot and we didn't bring umbrellas. Parking is just outside and the rest was clean, though.

So much fun

We took our two husky mix dogs w/our 11 year old today. Said we were going for 2 hours, stayed for three! It is so clean I was impressed. Water was clear today and pretty. Most dogs played very nicely. Only one real pest in the crowd and her owner was paying Zero attention to his dog, not the dogs fault. I love that it s attached to a lovely enclosed dog park that is very shaded. It was a bonus that there were working water hoses to rinse the dogs well before loading them into the van. We will definitely be back!

Dog heaven

By KathleenR_28 |

I don't own a dog but I think this place is awesome. I really think that dogs deserve their own outdoor space and be able to romp and play and bathe in the beach and this place provides them just that.

As my friend and I went inside the park (lots of fences and gates for safety), I could see the excitement of dogs that wanted to get right in the water and play. There were big dogs and small dogs, all getting along well. There should be be minimal concern about dog fights since it seemed to me that the dogs were happy and besides, I saw that the owners were vigilant. That day, we were lucky to see a dolphin who swum just a few feet from shore.

The place also had shower facilities for the dog so that they could be hosed down after swimming in the salt water or rolling on the sand. There was also water for them to quench their thirst.

The only thing I did not like was that one dog owner did not pick up after his/her dog. I just don't get that ... there were plastic bags provided just before you enter the beach and yet this person was too lazy to clean up.

Wonderful playground for our 4-legged friends.

Wow! Doggie paradise on beach. A one of a kind. Only issue us the non beach sector is too small. Heaven on earth for digs and their Hunan partners.

Great dog beach!

By Kirsten P |

There are two gates to make sure your pet does not slip out. There are watering stations and dog rinse stations. A great place to go if you enjoy taking your dog to the beach.

Summer fun on the beach, for your dog an you. On the Gulf, where dogs can take a swim or just play in the sand.

By HEPjr |

Live in
venice an love to watch the dogs play in water an roll in the sand. Most dog owners are watchful of the pet and very few fights. All dogs. small, Med and large. Don't forget the Sun Glasses for your dog, sun is just as bright of them as humans.

Venice is Famous for its Dog Parks

By Linda U |

People drive hours to bring their dogs to the Venice Beach Dog Park. It has a fully fenced grassed playyard that is double gated with running water to wash your dog or give him a drink. You walk through the gated playyard to take your dog down to the beach. Early mornings this is quite busy with all sorts of dogs romping around. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beach with your dog. FYI Venice has two dog parks. The other in off of Jacaranda across from Home Depot.

Great Place For Larger Dogs

By Judy S |

My Terriers didn't do very well here. It's a great place to take dogs but was very busy when we were there and my dogs were a bit intimidated.

Free to run!

By ozzie1643 |

My dog enjoyed the freedom to run in the sand while I enjoyed all the different breeds of dogs interacting. A great alternative to traditional dog parks. Take off your shoes and enjoy the sheer joy of nature and your pet!

My Dogs had FUN

By kamkam18 |

Both my dogs small & large enjoyed this beach , they could run around and play with other dogs also swim in the ocean! Was very busy the day I went. You can rinse your dog off with hose before leaving.

Great fun for our pup

By Cooper |

This is such a great place to take Trooper - our older chocolate lab. Although there isn’t a huge expanse for the doggies to play on, it didn’t pose a problem at all. All the dogs and their owners were so friendly and just happy to be able to bring their pet to the beach and play in the water. We spotted a few dolphins saying hello while we were there too. Can’t wait to come back.
*Do be aware that Brohard Paw Park is further on down past the “humans only” beach. Luckily our Apple maps had it clearly listed otherwise we’d have been super confused by all of the “No Dogs” signs posted.*

A beach for those not bothered by dogs being dogs

By nuccten |

This beach is for the dogs, not so much for people! The dogs run free, doing dog things. They run up and down the beach barking, growling, and play fighting. If you have food they're going to be your best friend. I watched a guy trying to eat a hamburger while sitting in a low beach chair. Of course, he got mugged! They're going to kick sand on you as they run by. They may even pee on your beach bag. If any of this would bother you, leave Fido home and go to one of the many other beautiful beaches in the area.

Nice park on the beach.

By bogeybacall |

Took my two doodles to the beach at this park and they loved it. All the other dogs well behaved. There is some pooh laying around but not too bad. If you have sweet pups, definitely take them here.

Absolutely the most beautiful dog beach in America

Dog park near the beach

By WildcatCountry2010 |

This dog park has two areas. One for small and one for large dogs. The small area is so small, it is best for tiny breeds. There are a couple of hoses and water available for rinsing your dog off after coming from the beach. Accessibility to the beach from the park is through a couple of gates and down a path. Although many owners take their dogs down to the beach off leash, if your dog is a hunter, you should know there are rabbits and squirrels although the path which drops down into an alligator habitat. I made the mistake of having mine off leash coming back from the beach and she took off first sight of a rabbit into the muck below. Panic set in and I spent the next 10-15 minutes calling for her in fear of her becoming a snack for an alligator. Fortunately, I was eventually able to retrieve her, but she came back with her legs black up past her elbows. I know now, not to take the leash off until we're either in the dog park or the dog beach.

Great fun

I brought my baby here to run off some energy. The Beach was clean and well kept. They had a shower to help clean him off after playing on the beach.

So much happiness.

Great place for dog lovers. Everyone is happy and wet. Do not expect to come home without a lot of sand and some great memories.

Best of Lease Dog Beach We Have Found in Florida

By Dean3839 |

I find it incredible that this park has some bad reviews. This is the only off lease dog park we could find on the west coast of Florida that is a real beach. Most are tiny or not there at high tide. We are so thankful there is a designated area for us to have fun with our dog. The parking lot needs to be larger!

Great beach

By Kari B |

Nice and clean and close to Sharkeys for lunch. Everyone cleaned up after themselves and even part of beach was non dog also.

Doggie paradise

By Karen H |

safe, ideal place for doggies to run, splash and have fun,
all the dogs were well behaved and well supervised.

Dogs Love Brohard

By John S |

Best dog beach ever! If your dog loves the water, loves the ocean then Brohard Paw Park is a must for you and your canine friend. The people enjoy the beach as well.

Dog Beach

By Beth W |

Great place to take your dogs so they can enjoy the beach and the water. All sizes are enjoying the beach. However, some owners don't keep up with their animals and confrontations can occur.
Nice place for both dogs and people to meet.

A blast for dogs & their owners

By noorphan |

Our visit was late Oct. 2015. This secure beach (double gates to enter & exit) was wonderful for our dog & us. The expanse of the beach appeared very clean & well maintained. Bags for our dogs 'stuff' were available all over, so there is no excuse for any mess being left.......& we saw none, although there were 15-20 dogs running around. All the dogs we encountered seemed well balanced & eager to greet & play, not to say we did not watch how the dogs interacted with each other. The enclosed dog area is so big(long) there is no feeling of restriction for the animals.. Our golden-doodle took off running as soon as she was unleashed.....great circles around us, then down to the water she went. Another nice feature was the doggie shower available in the park area after exiting the secured part of the park. Be sure & take a couple of towels. Venice should be proud of this great & safe place for pet owners to take their furry family members. Take your camera!!

lots of big dogs

By DaanMW |

We have only been there once and we only saw big dogs. We will give it another try once we live in the area in a few weeks.

Fun place for your pooch

This is an excellent beach to bring your dog. Wide, clean beach; friendly people and well-behaved dogs.

Just for dogs!

Great beach to bring your dog! They'll meet many friends and have a wonderful time jumping the waves!

Fun with or without a dog

By Charlene Y |

Went with a friend and their dog and my little girl had a blast. Every breed, size, shape and color imaginable is running and playing here. People do a good job of picking up poo. People do a good job of controlling their animals and letting you know it's okay to pet.

Doggie Heaven

By Tom B |

We are down from Michigan and brought our dog Maggie for her first road trip.
We’ve been to lots of dog parks and this one is incredible!
Lots of parking, restrooms are available and a beautiful clean beach. It was like doggie heaven with well behaved dogs running around and frolicking into the ocean.
What a wonderful experience!

It's a dogs life!

By Kerry H |

Brought our dog for his first visit to the beach, had a great time. Was shocked to see our little terrier jump right in and start swimming. Mao fun to see the dogs running and playing up and down the beach. A little too much dog poo seen here and there, hate to see a few careless pet owners ruin it for all. What a great resource for pet owners.

Negative

By iggy |

Don't bother, and don't every bring a little dog, unless you want it to get hurt. Problems: 1. Poop everywhere! Absolutely disgusting, and dangerous for disease. 2. Big posted- Alligator warning signs right before you enter the park 3. Too many people and unsupervised dogs- there have been several dog attacks and no accountability

Great place for your dogs to meet and greet other dogs and the gulf waters

By seancQ5943NN |

Nice area with a great after beach day. Very clean beach with a good size area. The beach also comes with doggy wash area that is closer to the parking.

This is what Heaven looks like!

What a better way to regulate your blood pressure than to spend an hour on the beach, visiting with dogs! Clean and nice size. Friendly visitors.

Best Doggy Beach

By Rhonda K |

We have been taking our dog to the park for the past 8 winters. She absolutely loves it. She is a golden retriever and is afraid of the water but loves the ocean and running around with all the other dogs. Great place to go and enjoy even if you don't have a dog but are a dog lover.

Great place to bring your dog(s)

By Melissa P |

We happened upon this just by walking on the beach and loved seeing all of the dogs! Maybe some day I can bring mine here!

LOVE THIS!

By Jen K |

They don't have anything like this place in Miami. It is so popular that if you don't get here early enough, parking gets interesting. The dogs love the place; so many of them just walking around, saying hello to everyone. The people visiting keep it very clean; no garbage or pet droppings. Very friendly people. Oh, and the water is clear, although there is a bit of a drop off just passed the edge of the water.

Great Place to Bring Your Pet

By Merriill |

The parking is sometimes full, but you can always find a place in the Maxine Barrett parking lot next door.there are runs for large/medium dogs as well as one for small dogs. They have hoses to wash you dog off after playing in the sand/surf. It is the owner's responsibility to control their pet on the beach. Although it may be tempting to walk your dog along the shoreline outside the park limits, it is not wise to do so because the City laws prohibit doing so and you can incur a fine. Brohard Paw Park is an excellent place to socialize whether on the beach or in the shady dog run area!

Off-Leash Dog Beach

By Nweimer |

Our dog loved having the freedom to chase her ball into the ocean and run through the sand. What made the dog beach even better is the fact that they have a doggie washing station near the parking lot. This made it easy to clean up our pup before heading home.

Fun for the doggies

By Jeanie P |

Just a great place for your furry friends. Fenced in park areas for small or larger dogs by the parking areas. Rinse off area for after romps on the beach...dog lovers for sure.

Beach with a bonus - you can take your dog. Yayyyyyy

By Karen C |

We were in the area in our RV so of course our dog was with us. We didn't know we would be there over the weekend so we decided to explore. My husband searched "pet friendly places" and we were so happy that she could spend the day with us instead of waiting behind till we returned. It was her first beach experience and I must admist I was a little concerned. All the dogs were having fun and being friendly to her. I kept her on her leash just in case, but she got to swim and play. We ALL loved it.

Fun,fun fun! Favorite place to take our dogs!

By StaarrsShadow |

I would move to Venice just for this dog park! Easy entrance and exit for large and small dogs. A nice shady area with picnic tables at the entrance for those that don't want to get sandy on the beach. The paved walkway to the beach is really nice with bags and trash cans along the way. The beach is the best - the dogs can run, swim, play and just hang out with no stress about a leash. Love it!

Our dog lived this place!

We brought our dog here from ohio.
The beach is very clean. The water is beautiful.
The dogs rule. It's awesome!
