Fantastic

By RaoulV445 |

Our age ranged from 5 to 72, as we visited the center witnessing the Endeavor space shuttle and a myriad of other extremely interesting activities and exhibits.
Basically everything is free but any special exhibits are $3 per person and parking is $12. Can get tickets on line as some exhibits have to be reserved but they seem very flexible. Airplanes, rockets, aquarium, creativity rooms, space shuttle, human body works, fish, waves, deserts etc. Something for everyone. Easily say the most interesting place I have seen in a long time and they didn’t charge an arm and a leg. If you go on a Sunday during football season you may have to sit in traffic so plan an hour ahead and ensure you get into the lane for $12 parking and not the $65 for football fans. Parking complex is covered. Food court with tacos or pizzas. You can spend 2-3 hrs at the exhibit and even more. I would consider a must if you have kids 5 and up; use as an excuse to see yourself.

Space shuttle in the house!

By Jerry Crawford |

This science museum in L.A. is one of the few since museums in the USA that has a real space shuttle. Not a replica or small scale version, this is the real deal. City had to take down power lines to get the space shuttle to the museum from the airport. Cool sight!

Lots to like, some areas for improvement

By s00h0 |

First off, there aren't too many places that one can enjoy for free. The California Science Center is one of them. A decent variety of hands on exhibits. The Endeavor add on for $3 is totally worth it at least once. The cafeteria has surprisingly decent food and reasonable prices for a museum.

On the area for improvement, as with many of these types of exhibits stuff is often broken or not quite functioning right. And some of the technology is dated and can be replaced for modest cost. The forced $12 parking is a bit steep especially since you have to walk a couple blocks on top of that.

Interesting traveling exhibits

By LoveTravel695165 |

Interesting traveling exhibits that usually have a cost and have timed entrances.rest of the museum has very interesting exhibits, but since it's free and is a hands on museum, bring plenty of hand sanitizer. Lots of kids. Avoid weekends. IMAX theater is a great experience.

Great for 3 year old!

By Catslick1 |

We went to the science center for the Imax theater and found so many things to do with a 3 year old that we never even made it there! The aquarium was a huge hit, as were the discovery room and the touch zone. Tons of fun things for little hands to touch and explore. It was crowded but still really enjoyable, and if you have an excess of energy the Natural History Museum is just a short walk away. The hurricane simulator was fun with mom or dad - it’s pretty intense. Even the space shuttle was a hit- a nice big room to run in and burn off some energy! Highly recommended for toddlers.

Beautiful exhibit and presentation.

By beachbiker2018 |

We really enjoyed the exhibits with our teens. It's beautiful and a relaxing experience at the same time. You're not overwhelmed with text descriptions. There are some pieces that are touring for the first time! The passages from "The Book of the Dead" are very poetic. Love the guardian statue. Add the audio tour - it's worth it! You'll get to hear the trumpets! Don't know when they'll tour again. See it when you can!

Space shuttle Endeavour made it

By Hils |

Seeing the space shuttle was amazing. However the dog exhibition was a zoo. The educational level was great for children 5-10 with lots of interactive and loud exhibits. Be prepared for lots of vaguely supervised children running amok.

King Tut Exhibit

By Traveling Ron |

The King Tut exhibit was phenomenal! The collection was laid out very nicely and was interspersed with the history of its discovery as well as the history of King Tut’s rise and subsequent death at the young age of 19. The Rose Garden was an added surprise and was worth the stroll through the roses enjoying their exquisite aroma! The space shuttle Endeavor was an added bonus as well and is permanently on display.

Kids enjoyed it; IMAX leaves something to be desired

By BronzeWings |

Paid my second (or third?) visit to the CSC to see the dog exhibit, which looked intriguing on the surface but was somewhat disappointing in substance. My tween and young teen thought it was "ok" and had a few very informative/interactive elements like figuring out how fast you can run compared to a dog. Otherwise, it was meh and at times, downright silly (the imaginary dog walk still has me scratching my head). Might have been more enjoyable for younger kids.

The IMAX dog movie was interesting and might have been worth the extra $ but I was pretty perturbed by the theater, which forces patrons to line up and wait outside in chilly weather for 30 minutes before the show. No place to sit inside the lobby. You can sit across the plaza in the museum, but if you show up right before the show starts, general admission seating means you may be stuck with seats that aren't so great. I probably won't be returning to the theater, for that reason.

They have the Endeavour! It is an awe inspiring sight

By Lisa G |

We went for the Art of the Brick exhibit and it is very cool. The work and imagination on display are amazing. Weirdly, it's really dusty though. We then saw the Endeavour space shuttle. It is absolutely awe inspiring. The space exploration displays are well done although there are some didactics that could use years on them to put things in context. It costs $15 to park.

Museum on a Rainy Day

By roaddogg1983 |

It rained for a good portion of our trip to LA so we decided to find something indoors. The California Science Center has a lot to do and it is probably worth spending at least half a day there. We watched 2 Imax movies which were very cool. There are a lot of hands on activities and a lot of things to see in the museum. We also wanted to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour which was absolutely breathtaking. We were very glad that we stopped at this museum.

Endeavour. Enough said.

By John S |

There’s one word that in itself is reason enough for a visit: Endeavour. It. Is. So. Cool. If you’re anywhere near interested in space travel this is a must-visit when you’re in LA. Ample of parking space nearby, the science center itself also holds *a lot* of fun exhibitions and is as expected very kid-friendly. But the Endeavour, what an amazing ship.

Well worth a visit and it’s free entry

By Explorer798663 |

We visited for the endeavour spaceship which ends in 4 days time but there was so much more to the science museum… I honestly believe this science museum is one of the best in the world, better than the London science museum. It did get busy but I’d rather be here than spend $700 on Disney

A great way to spend a few hours and even learn a thing or two!

By DrDouglas1971 |

Easy to reach by metro; simply alight at Expo/USC stop, the center is surrounded by other attractions, including the Natural History Museum, The African American Museum and the Coliseum. The CSC really does have something for everyone. Don’t miss the aircraft, including a DC3 and Blackbird displayed in the gardens. They are actually easy to miss!

The big draw is the Space Shuttle, Endeavour, though it is currently off view as it is being housed in a new building which will see it staged as if ready to blast off. There are galleries devoted to Air & Space, Eco Systems, World of Life, with plenty of hands-on exhibits. There is also a kelp forest with walk through tunnel, desert foxes and a rot room!

The IMAX cinema has an ever changing schedule and there are simulators of Earthquakes and roller coasters to thrill all ages.

If you have a couple of hours to spare it’s well worth a visit and unlike most of LA attractions it is FREE!

Hands On. Family friendly with lots of feels

By Peter K |

There are so many "feels" at this place. We especially liked the things you touched that changed states. It was nice to see natural habitats and awesome artistic displays. We really liked the exhibit of the ACTUAL Space shuttle Endeavor. Nice NASA display and merch. They had a sales rack which was cool. Other things close too. So if you have time - 2-3 hours at least for the SCience Center... you can have lunch and see other stuff within walking distance - including the rose garden. Just a cool place to spend a weekend or just the afternoon

King Tut, Endeavor and the center as a whole

By donandbobbi |

King Tut was very well laid out and organized. I enjoyed it more than I did in Chicago many years ago. The Endeavor area was ok/good. The shuttle area and exhibits there were good, the upstairs room was nothing special. Overall the science center has a lot to offer (dress warm as the air conditioning is very cold).

Meet King Tut from Egypt on a tour

By 786malgorzatac |

This is a must for everybody! You see around 150 objects from Valley of the Death in Egypt, and specifically items from king Tutanchamon tomb discovered in 1922. Some of them are exhibited the first time out from Egypt. You can appreciate arts and crafts of those who produced them 3-4 thousand years before us. Jewelry, jars made of alabaster, ebony chests, figurines of various sizes. And above sll an incredible history of king Tut who was enthroned having been 9, and died when he was 19. You need 2 hours at least to fully appreciate the exhibit. This is its last week, so book tickets in advance. It will be very crowdy, but your effort is worth every minute you spend there. Additionally the exhibit is very well presented, i admired the way it was supported by kights and film materials. Definitely a must if you want fully understand the evolution of humans!

Fun and mostly free!

By Char J |

Fun for all ages! There are hands on things for children and we had fun as a group of adults. Some exhibits and the imax cost extra but most exhibits are free. Our parking was free too! We enjoyed the information about LA, the oceans, deserts, and space! There are starfish you can “pet” and lots of interesting exhibits. Informative and fun! The endeavor is here too, but we are pretty sure it costs extra to see unless part of an event. The science center is worth a visit!

An amazing day with your kids!!!

By Michael T |

FANTASTIC Museum with PLENTY for kids and adults of all ages to see and do! This was fantastic for my 5 year old and I could have spent way more time there. The best part is that it is FREE!!! Technically by donation - but with zero pressure.

Full disclosure, my review of the Dog exhibit that is currently there would be entirely different... more like 2 stars. I made the awful mistake of spending nearly $20 to do that, when I could have had a free day at the museum with all the other amazing things! But we did get to see the Endeavor, if tickets for the Dog exhibit, so that was cool. Oh! You need to see the Body Works part! There is a huge woman that is just strange. The whole thing is a bit outdated - but the retro ness is super charming. It evoked feelings of the Diet Coke of 1990's EPCOT Center.

For parents with small children: There are MANY fun zones that are essentially science based play areas, closer to what you'd find at a play place. So that is super helpful. The highlight for us was definitely the aquarium section. That was super cool. But we really enjoyed all of it. I can't wait to go back!

Parking is $12 (so it's not exactly a free day) - but totally worth the $12. Drinks are expensive, so I'll bring my own next time. We had lunch there and prices were as expected for a place like this and for museum food, my cheeseburger was pretty delicious!

Fabulous morning

By Phillip G |

This was one of the highlights of our stay in Los Angeles. We took the Metro and it stops directly outside of the Center. We had actually booked online a timed entrance to the IMAX Cinema to watch a documentary about Volcanoes, that in itself was amazing, especially using the 3D glasses. The Space shuttle Endeavour is the star of the show. The exhibition hall is well set out and there is an enormous amount of information to interest all ages. The staff are fabulous, as you would expect very informative and happy to chat along with any questions you might have. As you stand under the Endeavour it makes you just ponder on the genius of those who had the skill and ability to design such an incredible vehicle for space travel and exploration. For us the rest of the Center which has many areas of interesting and hands on exhibits is more aimed at children.

Interesting visit

By billpW1998QX |

The King Tut exhibit is amazing and offers a lot of interesting information about the king and his life. The shuttle is a must see for space buffs.

Family visit

By ChrisCDC |

This is well worth visiting. The highlight for us was to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour, just an incredible experience to be so close up to it.

Amazing

By Mel H |

So much to do for all ages. My boys (11,9,2) all had a blast! I came 4 years ago and I can’t believe how much new stuff is there!

Free admission extensive science museum

By Shanelle |

Free admission science museum in DTLA. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and spent a couple of hours exploring the exhibits. It’s much larger than you’d think, and you can easily spend a whole day. Garage parking is $15 (cash and card accepted). No food or drinks allowed inside the museum, but we were able to carry our water bottles. It’s a kid-friendly space.

I love the ecosystem exhibits, especially the aquariums. Head outside for the touch tank! There are paid exhibits as well, and you get the timed entry tickets at the front kiosk. There’s the rose garden right outside and there’s plenty of food vendors (some will take Zelle/Venmo) if you’re feeling hungry.

King Tut Exhibit

By Passport204342 |

Original exhibit from Egypt only in LA until January, then to Philadelphia. Original artifacts - only $24. When done enjoy the rest of the science center. There is a lot to do and see, it is a very large complex.

Great fun and free!

By njoythejourney |

5 and 7 year old boys loved this free and amazing museum, lots of hands-on activites. (Parking fee) They even found the gift shop interesting! They have a children's menu in the restaurant on site. We went to the 3D IMAX "Superdogs" movie at the IMAX theater next door afterwards which was great for all ages!

Wauu

By Karsten P |

My teenage kids god activated by some of the cool stuff within aerospace and flying. Especially the flight simulators were a hit.

Seeing Endeavour was breath taking, but special exhibit needed better organisation

By queenr0ck |

The main reason for the trip was the see Endeavour. The exhibition was very interesting and seeing Endeavour was amazing. Nothing can prepare you for the sheer size of it, it was just breath taking. We also saw the special travelling King Tutankhamen exhibit. The tickets were timed but the entry to it was poorly organised so we had to rush round the exhibit before the museum closed.

Cool exhibits

By Greenapplepies |

We wanted to see endeavor and reserved our time in advance. We traveled with a 3 and 4 year old. Getting into the museum itself is free and tickets for endeavor were free as well, even though the website said $3 each. I asked someone where I would pay, and they said it is donation only-I was never pressured-and wouldn’t even have known to donate if I didn’t ask. Parking was $12. For the adults, and older children, it was really interesting and fun. I think my kids thought endeavor was cool, but it was for a few minutes. They didn’t seem to really enjoy it that much, until they got endeavor souvenirs. We spent about 2-2.5 hours there but if the kids weren’t with us, I could see us there for another hour or so actually looking at the exhibits. And that was just for the permanent ones. We did not purchase any tickets for the “special” ones. One of our favorites was the kelp forest. It was like an aquarium and there were 2 scuba divers who waved at us and would stay in the background when taking pictures. We went on a Thursday around noon. It wasn’t jammed packed, but there were also a lot of kids on a field trip who were getting ready to leave. I definitely would recommend this for an interesting/educational trip!

I mean ok to drive around but we were done with it after 30 minutes

By Lisa S |

The tour “drives you around” but it just felt like the guide just said “look a Porsche look a Mercedes check check” at every car trying to elude a celebrity was there and low and behold it never was which was fine but it just felt “made up”
Also don’t sit in the backseat each time the bus pulled over to look st a view or house we couldn’t see anything because you can’t see past the back of the van ‘wall’

We felt it was a wasted amount of time. I would have fathered driven myself around

Space shuttle Endeavour the showpiece

By Aussie_2012 |

Without doubt the space shuttle Endeavour is the highlight of this museum but take time to explore the other exhibits as they too have significance in the air and space history of the states. Predominantly educational for younger minds, this museum has a lot to offer and there are ever-changing exhibits on show. A large food court with some of the best priced and tasting pizza's is also available. Allow a good 2-3 hours to get a good look at the entire museum.

Great day out!

By Dan N |

Awesome place very well putogether with some great exhibits would highly recommend checking this place out even if its just to see the shuttle! The king tut exibit at the moment is amazing!

Space shuttle exhibit

By MilwaukeeMom35 |

We went here mostly to see the space shuttle Endeavor. This coast $3 and was well worth it. The King Tut exhibit was $30 per person and there were lines, so we skipped it. Lots for kids to touch and do in these exhibits but its also not just aimed at children. We spent about 2 hours with lunch. You can bring your own lunch, 2 Snapples and a box of water was $9 at the cafeteria. Garden space is lovely too.

Can see the space shuttle up close

By KCkidwriter |

I'll confess the only reason I went was to see the Space shuttle up close. It didn't disappoint and there's a great video showing how hard and how long it took to move the shuttle from the airport, through city streets, until it reached the museum.

As with all science museums there are plenty of other things to do, but this section was my favorite.

Must see space shuttle

By Supershape |

Just seeing space shuttle up close is worth the trip. Even better there's no admission charge. Parking is $15 a day, cash only.

For adults and children.

By lilianasmith |

Amazing everything you can see, experience and learn. A very entertaining museum for adults but highly recommended for children.
It has a food court with different types of options to choose from.

So much to do

By Tanya D |

We travel in a group of 2 adults and 8 kids (6y-16y). There was so much to do and explore. We didn't even get a chance to do everything.

Special Dogs Exhibit

By MJC |

The Science Center is great. The Space Shuttle plus space capsules from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs are fascinating. A lot to see and do
The special exhibit on Dogs is terrific. Much to learn and live dogs doing a demonstration with Frisbees. A great day

Fabulous Leonardo daVinci exhibit

By Lena K |

My g'daughter studied Leonardo daVinci in 4th grade, so we took this opportunity to go to California Science Center's daVinci exhibit. His accomplishments are many and most people know of them. What makes this exhibit spectacular are several of daVinci's drawings of inventions are HERE! Italian artisans created them!

A solid [ 4-1/2 ]

By pchnmain |

I recently visited the "California Science Center". I've never provided a review before, but this is a good opportunity.

The purpose of my recent visit was to see the exhibition "Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia". As this visiting exhibition has concluded, I won't provide a review. My previous visits were in 2012, when the space shuttle Endeavor became available for viewing; and in 2019, to see the King Tut exhibition.

If you visit the Science Center's website and look under the "Visit" tab, there are very good instructions on how to get there.

= Mass Transit =

I don't want to sound like a "hater"--but haven't used the LADOT (bus system) in many years.

Exploring the grounds, I did notice that the Metro Expo Line (light rail) "Expo Park / USC Station" was adjacent to the museum.

= Parking =

I drove my car to the Science Center. Parking is $15.

I entered from Figueroa, and it took about 20 minutes to travel the distance from the street entrance to the parking attendant's booth (less than 50 yards). There were two parking attendant booths. Each booth had one attendant to handle two lanes of traffic, one on each side of their booth. The lack of attendants, more than the volume of cars, caused the backup.

= Free Entry to see the Permanent Exhibits =

Visit the website for a detailed listing of permanent exhibits.

Reservations and fees may be required to see the special exhibits--but entry is free to visit the permanent galleries, including the Endeavour space shuttle. There are a lot of interactive displays created especially for children. This is really good family entertainment value.

= IMAX Theater =

The facility has a very impressive IMAX theater. Unfortunately, on this occasion, my exhibit's IMAX presentation was in 3D. (I've never had a good 3D experience. The glasses just don't work for me.)

~ ~ ~

I've visited the California Science Museum intermittently, to see visiting exhibitions. In the process, I've seen the museum "evolve" over the years.

The facilities have always been clean and well maintained. There always seems to be a large number of staff and volunteers around to provide help.

This was my first visit in the Covid-era, so signage encouraging masking was displayed. However, as Covid numbers have eased, masking wasn't mandatory.

For the visiting exhibitions, the Science Center uses reservation systems to meter the crowd flow so that things don't get too congested. The online ticketing system is easy to navigate.

I rate the California Science Center as very good--and a good family entertainment value. I base this on my travels to other major metros and seeing the museums and science centers there.

California Science Center

The California Science Center is a state agency and museum located in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, next to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the University of Southern California.

King tut exhibit

By Rhonda M |

We only had time for the exhibit, but it was awesome!! We got tickets as soon as we got there! Was not real crowded and could see the many artifacts displayed.

Perfect school trip!

By Jess |

I've been coming here since I was 10, probably younger. It is a great way to dive into science in a fun and exciting learning environment. Perfect for class trips and visiting with curious and energetic children.

Go see the space shuttle!

By Sara |

Proud to have this in Los Angeles...awesome how they drove it through the city. Worth the stop if you are visiting LA.

The space shuttle is magical

By Resepappa |

The space shuttle is in a seperate enclosure that you have to book in advance an pay for (entrence to the Science Center is free). When it is you tiome and you finally get to enter the shuttle hangar it feels magical. The hairs on my arm was actually standing when I entered. This is the best place to see a space shuttle from the three that I have seen. There are many other good exhibits like space capsules and a F-20 in the lobby and an A-12 utside on a pylon. Well worth a visit.

Excellent educational, imaginative and fun opportunity

By conniemccreight |

Great for all kids ages 6 on, and very interesting for adults. Interactive activities, great visuals, wide variety of subjects.

Great exposition and IMAX experience

By Jānis Baiža |

Ecosystems exposition is awesome, so many different things. It's interesting even for grown-ups as there are so many things we didn't know.
IMAX movie about super dogs shows dogs from a completely different view.
And then the Endeavour - exposition about it's missions and the shuttle itself is impressive.

Pair the Endeavor space shuttle visit with an IMAX movie

By packcal |

We paired our family Endeavor space shuttle visit with the Space Exploration IMAX movie. Excellent combination and enjoyed both. Family also enjoyed the climbing wall and one of the sims. Highly recommend.

Need timed entry ticket for the space shuttle.

The best experience

By Scott Harrison |

Well the last weekend I go to see some movies interestingly and good, the most part I liked is the service and the carrier

Went to see the Endeavor

By Leesa D |

Most of the center is free, which is amazing. Lots of great exhibits. Did not explore the entire center. Paid to see Endeavor and went through the ecosystems.

King Tut Shines

By GlobalGypsy_13 |

The King Tut exhibit featuring gold is a show stopper with almost 40% of the items never before circulated outside of Egypt (and many of which I never saw during 4 years in Cairo). The rest of the museum features interactive displays, such as the solar car and the endeavor space section. There's a mini-food hall with seating indoors and outside with the nearby Rose Garden as a backdrop. My only quibble is the overcrowded gift shop with lots of school groups as the super busy clerk (only one) forgot to take the lock off of my royal purple socks that I now can't wear.

Did a walk by

By Dean L |

The venue is beside the iconic LA Coliseum so we did a walk by coming from the Metro. There is a Blackbird on the outside and you can see some items at no charge. Take the metro if staying downtown, day pass for $10 gets you everywhere.

Good place

By AllClassAllTheTime |

Great place to spend the day, for both tourists and locals.
Even if you are not a sciene enthusiast, there is plenty to see and enjoy.

So many interesting things to see and do! The family will love it!

By Vinny C |

The highlight for me was see the Space Shuttle Endeavour. If you have not seen this up close, it's amazing. They have it located in it's own dedicated building with lot's of other interesting space items to view. The variety of different things to see and do is what surprised me the most about our visit. They even had an outdoor aquatic sea life area where you could touch sea anemone's, star fish, and so much more. They have a large sea life exhibit in a huge aquarium filled with interesting fish and an occasional diver swimming with all the fish as well! So much fun. This center really has so much to offer for the entire family! You need to go and plus it was FREE to get it. Donations gladly excepted.

Free Fun for all Ages

By MayaD888 |

Great fun for the whole family. We had a family outing and brought the kiddos (age 1, 3 & 6). I've never had issues with parking here at Exposition Park (be prepared to pay. They accept cash & card). You can't beat the fact that the general museum is FREE! The space shuttle is quite the sight to see! Definitely one of or favorite parts. (You do need to get tickets for this, but they're very cheap). Lots of hands on things to do which the kids loved including a play area specific for kids 3 & under.

Keep in mind that the LA Football Club and LA Coliseum are adjacent, so you probably want to check to see if there are any soccer or football games going on that day before you head out.

See a space shuttle up close!

By VacationRoaming |

We went to see the space shuttle, which you can walk around and under in its specially built wing. Watch the movie showing how the shuttle was transported to LA and pulled through the streets to the museum. The exhibits around the walls add a lot of backstory. The volunteer docents are great resources--the one we spoke with was a retired engineer who had worked on the space shuttle program!

Terrible dog exhibit

By redurne |

While the California science center usually has great traveling exhibits like cleopatra, king tut, Pixar, and Pompeii their current dog exhibit is an abomination. It is terribly designed, low on information and educational content and is rather boring for something that should be a fun topic. I’m really disappointed in the center. They usually are better at selecting traveling exhibits.

For the first time I actually went through the rest of the exhibits. The center as a whole could use a complete overhaul. Most of their exhibits are incredibly outdated.

Amazing Place

By Flavio V |

I've visited the CSC several times. Twice as a school fieldtrip and other times with family. It is an amazing place for hands on experience for the kids. Visiting the Space Shuttle Endeavour is the pinaccle to my visits there. I am looking forward for the renovations and the planned exhibit for the Endeavour.

Worth the visit

By QueenP |

This as a free experience is well worth it. Some areas were excellent, particularly the space area and desert habitat area. There were however a lot of areas partially closed or not working. But enough there to spend a whole day honestly!

Loved the well priced shop!

Food court food was ok, but boy was it filthy!!!! We used wipes to clean our table and they were black when we'd finished. So....have an exhibit on pathogens, but don't keep anything clean???? We actually saw the cleaner using the same cloth on the floor then the tables. This needs attention CSC!

Awesome Experience

By Hylianknight |

I went down to see the King Tut exhibit with a group of honor roll students. It was a cool collection to see. One could feel the history in the air. Videos explained how the tomb was discovered and items found. Great trip for middle schoolers and people interested in Ancient Egypt. Uploaded some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Wonderful Museum

By Tirza |

A great museum that has a display of a real shuttle. It is free, but you need to pay to enter the shuttle exhibit, or special exhibits. They also have very good IMAX movies. You can make reservations online. Food restaurants are Mediocre at the museum

great museum

By Lisa Wheeler |

Many exhibits, some permanent some changing. Check to see what's going on so you know what kind of lines there will be. Lots of field trips. Great place to bring kids.

Excellent and Ammmmazing

By Azam Soukar |

This is an excellent destination for all ages especially kids. The endeavour ship is just amazing to see. Nothing to compare this space ship to.

Day trip to California science center

By Day trip |

We had out of town family visiting recently, and even though we are all seniors and retired, California Science Center is a real treat, especially if you’ve never been there before. Plenty of parking ($12), and it’s not much of a distance to the center. If you are visiting during the week, there is no need to reserve you time to see the Space Shuttle Endeavor, but be aware you will need to reserve a time to visit on the weekend. Being retired, it was still busy, but not crowded. The Endeavor itself is simple amazing and if you enjoy science as we do, you will be in that exhibit for a while. There was several volunteers, with engineering background that were available to answer our questions. There are hands on exhibits that kids will really enjoy. Lots of space exhibits too. They recently updated their eating places (3 different choices) that had nice salads, burgers and other yummy food. They also have a neat gift shop kids will love.

Space shuttle Endeavor and blackbird SR-71

By Dev A |

Space shuttle Endeavor and blackbird SR-71, these two made my day having to see the space shuttle and the spy plane up close and personal. Lots of stuff for the kiddos to do hand-on. IMAX movies is always a good plus.

Excellent museum

By Vivienne |

What a wow experience!
Well laid out and informative, lots of interactive activities - and the space shuttle!
Volunteers were amazing - really informative and interesting.

Great place for learning.

By Hung Hoang |

We spent a half day visiting this place and our kids loved it. It’s worth to spend an hour on the road to get here and experience the shows.

Perfect place to take kids on a rainy day in LA

By michelskt |

The California Science Center stands out for (1) being humongous with tons to see, especially The Endeavor, (2) all exhibits that we saw were hands-on exhibits that engage kids through playful learning; (3) admission is free; (4) decent food options for a museum.

We spent a morning here and only managed to see a quarter of the exhibits because our kids were so engaged with everything. The Endeavor was the show-stopper for us of course. If you are visiting from out of town, I recommend starting with the Endeavor and then seeing everything else from there.

The museum is free but you need to factor in $12 for parking and extra if you eat from the on-site restaurants. There are water fountains throughout the museum that can be used for refilling water bottles.

Educational and Fun

By ExplorerGabor |

We spent half a day exploring the Science Centre. There is so much to see and apart from the special exhibitions (eg King Tut), it’s all free.

It makes education fun and our kids loved it. The Endeavour Space Shuttle is also a highlight. It’s huge and contained in its own building.

There were a lot of school groups on the day we visited so the place was packed and noisy. It’s still easy to get around and there is so much to see we didn’t have to wait for any of the exhibits.

This is a great place for families to visit when in LA. The light rail stops outside and food at the cafe is ok.

Endeavour visit

Went to the museum to see the space shuttle Endeavour and saw so much more. The Shuttle exhibit was awesome and cool to see it up close. The extra treats were the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo capsules along with numerous satellites and space exhibits. The center also had many many other exhibits from undersea life to King Tut. It's very kid friendly with plenty of hands on experiences.

A fun and educational center for all inquiring explorers to the world of science

By monalikhandagle2012 |

From plants and animal kingdoms, to biology of the human body, to the origins of planet Earth and beyond, the Science Center is a treasure trove to explore, not just once but many times if you live in Southern CA.
The star of the Science center is the Space Shuttle Endeavor. We may take space exploration for granted today, but it was in Los Angeles that the Space shuttle was developed and it was a historic event when the Endeavor came back to Los Angeles for all to see the fruits of the labor of love for science this city has had over the years.
A must see attraction if you are visiting Los Angeles and are curious to know more about the science we use in our everyday lives.

California Science Center

By Luxury T |

I am not into science and yet I loved it so much. I love it when I learn new stuff in a conformable way, no stress. Maybe in my visit I learned more than I learned during all my high school years.
I recommend it to families and to individuals too. You will not feel how time flies there, you might be in the future in no time .

So much to see!

By Stephanie K |

The California Science Center was one of the highlights of our trip. We only went there to see the King Tut exhibit, but there is SO much more to see than just that. The Tut exhibit is fantastic, and it's its last time out of Egypt so if you want to see it, go now, however it's worth seeing even if that exhibit is not there.

A couple of our favorite parts were the space shuttle endeavor, the rotting room, the aquarium, and the thermal camera.

This would be great for kids and adults and it's free, except for the special exhibits. My sister came with us, and she has been there before so she got bored, but my husband and I were greatly entertained, we spent hours here and didn't even see everything.

King Tut Exhibit

By PhoenixPhoodie16 |

We went on a Saturday morning and got right in. The exhibit is magnificent and children from about 8 up will love it. We also saw the IMAX on Egypt and also the Endeavour Space Craft.
An amazing day. We got there at 10 and left at 4. There is food available but we ate our picnic lunch in the parking lot. If you're in LA you don't want to miss this as it is going to Europe and then back to Egypt.

Home of the Endeavour

By phvi2617 |

This is a great science museum in Exposition Park. Most of the exhibits are geared toward kids, but the real star is the Space Shuttle Endeavour. It's incredible to see it up close and in person, and there are a number of artifacts related to the shuttle's assembly in Southern California. Also on display are several aircraft and capsules from the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs.

Unfortunately, the Endeavour will be off display for several years as the new shuttle pavilion is being constructed, but when it is finished it promises to be even more amazing. Aside from the IMAX films, all exhibits are completely free. There is a large food court and a really nice gift shop. Even though it was busy, it never felt crowded.

The highlight of the California Science Center: The Space Shuttle Endeavour

The California Science Center has a nice shop, lobby, and food court.

The location is also easy access and simple. Really no traffic. For a place in LA I was surprised no one was really there. Do people in LA not like science? Back home in Michigan, people love science. If we had the space shuttle, the center would be packed daily. So odd to find this place so dead. Of all the places to visit the space shuttle, this shuttle in LA is the loneliest. They need better advertising for sure.

Highly Recommended

Some impressive exhibits, but horrible treatment of animals

By Traveller |

The shuttle is worth seeing, and some of the exhibits are well done, but the conditions they keep animals in are pure cruelty; from keeping two birds of different species in a small sealed room never seeing natural light or breathing fresh air, to lizards confined in tanks hardly longer than their bodies, to 'touching tanks' where groups of unruly schoolkids get to maul various sea creatures - disgusting!

It's got a space shuttle, everything else is a bonus

By clifton123 |

After learning the Endeavour had found a new home in Los Angeles this was our first visit to the Science center.

Being able to walk around and under the Endeavour was really fantastic. The engineering genius can be seen up close. On a weekday it was not too busy and we were able to enter without waiting. The history of the space shuttles around the hanger was educational and interesting.

For $9 we bought the trio short activity ticket. The height minimum for the trapeze bike is 48" so smaller children cannot have a go. The simulator and climbing wall were fun. As was the earthquake. platform - though it would have been better if the commentary had said what size earthquake we had experienced. $3 for a windy hurricane experience.

There is also a great aquarium. Just our luck that a school group made it quite noisy and crowded at the time we got to it.

The pizza in the food area was pretty good and not too expensive given the location.

Such a fantastic place!

By luciamemmo |

The entire centre is excellent - such a great chance to learn and see! We went with the intent of seeing the space shuttle Endeavour and we were NOT disappointed. Truly amazing in every sense of the word. Such a worth while say out!,,

Visit when it opens

By sienaDevon |

We arrived around 9.45 and my
Husband and son were excited to see a blackbird spy plane outside. We were waiting to go in as soon as the doors were open at 10 and headed straight to see Endeavour. Very informative guides around. School groups started coming in around 10.30 so we were there without much noise. Had arranged tickets (for free) on line but these were not needed. Would like to have seen more of museum but had to leave at 11. Visited on a Thursday morning.

Amazing day! Kids LOVED it!

By nrmscootergirl |

What a fantastic place! So affordable and easy to visit. The space shuttle Endeavor was phenomenal. Recommend for any age group!

Fantastic and Free!

By avgjoey |

Went prior to a Rams game and wasn't expecting much because of no admission. Boy was I wrong. What a great center especially the Space Shuttle Endeavor and its' exhibits. Simply awesome! The ecosystem area was also very informative and also fun to take in especially the flash flood demonstration. Staff were very friendly. Parking could be a challenge as we took the metro. I would recommend to visit while in LA.

An amazing visit - make a day of it!

By DamianN |

The centre was simply amazing. The free stuff was worth it on it's own, however, I highly recommend the IMAX experience, which includes entry into the Space Shuttle exhibit. We only planned on half a day and wish we had longer, as there was still heaps to see. If it is still there, the 'Dogs' exhibit is worth the extra few $$.

Very interested please. Perfect for families

By Ashton G |

This is one of the most exciting place I have ever visit. Perfect for couple, families and groups.
Recommended 100%

It's great!!! It's the best!!!

By Zoilo R |

There are many things you could do said my 9 year old son. We've been going here for years even before the Space Shuttle Endeavor was placed on exhibit. There are lots of exhibits in disrepair the last time we were there but kids don't seem to mind because there's a lot more to see and do. Then there is the IMAX theater, the King Tut Exhibit and of course the gift shop.

Science for all Ages

By KG O |

We met up for a playdate with a friend. The boys had a wonderful time exploring all of the hands on learning activities.

If you have a week in LA, I don't think you should go

By Dani |

A great place to go so many habitats What could be better with the space they have they could make it very good that's my honest opinion you might not want to go

This place is amazing!

By CDNGlobetrotter79 |

I took my 5 year old son to the Science Centre when we were visiting LA, he absolutely loved it. I cannot believe there’s no admissions fee. This place is very well maintained and the activities are amazing. My son loved playing with the blocks, robots and other amazing science games. The outdoor aqua world is pretty cool. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. The space centre is also great. They charge a minimal fee for some activities but I think the fees are reasonable. We’re originally from New York and for a place like this, they would charge an arm and a leg here! Well-done LA!

Excelent for kids and adults.

By Marko |

We spent the whole day in California Science Center. Enter is free, to pay is only parking. In Center are a lot of Exhibits and other things to learn and have fun. Highly recommended for the whole family.

Where else can one see a King Tut Exhibit and Space Shuttle Endeavour both in the same place?

By Jody T |

A chance to take in a King Tut exhibition of artifacts and the Space Shuttle Endeavour in the same location and the same day had me completely sold and I wasn’t disappointed!! It is awesome that this Science Center brought in this incredible King Tut Exhibition for people to see these artifacts in North America considering most likely will never get the chance to witness them in Egypt. If the history of King Tut intrigues a person at all they should definitely take in this amazing exhibition while it is still here!! The exhibits dedicated to the history of the Space Shuttle program and the actual Space Shuttle Endeavour were excellent as well and well worth visiting the California Science Center to see!

A blast for little kids

By Stella L |

Spent a whopping 6 hours here with a 6 year old and had a great time! The Endeavor was super impressive to see. The center is set up as a bite sized medley of different topics ranging from a mini aquarium, to the human body to space. We also watched an imax 3D movie which was a lot of fun for a little kid. And don’t miss the exclusive Hello Kitty merch!

Free entry but pretty poor

By TeamTallis |

This museum may be free but it's very tired now. Maybe worth popping in if you have gone to the Natural History Museum but I wouldn't make a special journey. There is a major new space and flight centre being built so maybe the refresh is coming in a year or so.... For now, many of the exhibits are old and attempts to make them interactive are broken. Signs are faded and illegible in places. The space stuff was interesting, the aquarium was good (maybe overstocked). The imax show on blue whales was okay. But much of the rest was showing its age. And whats the deal with the poor fennec fox on its own in an enclosure? ? Time for a major refit.

Donation Only Museum

By RitaLyC |

Being from Chicago we are spoiled with many world class museums and are frequent guests and Museum of Science and Industry. This is much smaller but a really great museum. Lots of interactive exhibits much having to do with the environment. What was really really cool was seeing he space shuttle! This is on and nice museum campus and has a food court. It would be great to make a day of this area.

King Tut

By Randa H |

What a great memory this is. Took over 4 hours just to see the King Tut part. The rest of the place is huge and everyone was so nice and helpful.
Take your time and enjoy this wonderful place. The Rose gardens are there and a good place to take a break. A must see in the big city.

To see the shuttle

By christine r |

A great day out ,go on the metro you get money knocked of your ticket .very large museum lots to see they even had the space shuttle Endeavour which made my day

free

By Carlos Miranda |

Amazing place to spend the day, childrens had fun and you can visit the Endevour!, definatly it is a plce to visit

Interesting place

By Benita B |

Would have spent a full day if traveling with kids. Loved IMAX theater and seeing the space shuttle Endeavor.

Admission is free

By cookpias |

This is a great science exhibit with lots of hands-on activities for kids. It is also near the Natural History Museum. The Space Shuttle requires a time ticket, which you can get when you arrive. The special exhibits are often terrific (and require admission). IMAX theater is great--also a charge.

Lots to explore

By Samantha J |

Lots of exhibits to explore and very kid friendly. Lots to do and explore. Would love to go back and visit.

Food court was also adequate. Basic food court. Lots of choices.

Excellent venue for the whole family

By Lena K |

My granddaughter and I wanted to see the Endeavour space shuttle before it is moved into its currently-being-constructed building. Once moved, it will no longer be displayed horizontally, but in a vertical position, as it would have looked before its initial launch.
We also watched a 3-D movie on Blue Whales in the Center’s IMAX theater.
There is a large gift shop and a variety of places to get a meal, snack and beverages.

great place - lots of interactivity

By JimTerryIV |

We did the museum, the Endeavour and Imax Hubble all in one afternoon. We have visited science musea in London, Paris and Copenhagen and this came out on top: interesting, varied and lots of interaction.

Excellent visit!

By Penny |

Came to see the Space shuttle endeavour but the rest didn’t disappoint. No need to pre book to see shuttle, just go there on the day and pay $3 to get a ticket and walk in whenever. The rest of the centre was excellent with lots of interactive exhibits and hands on activities. Spent a good few hours here, very much recommend!

Something for everyone

By Flyer48923663938 |

So much to see with both traveling and permanent shows along with the space shuttle Endeavor makes this an educational must see for all ages. The 'Tut' exhibit was crowed with long lines but considering it leaves in two days, back to Egypt, never to travel again, that was to be expected and worth the trouble. You can buy tickets on line, in advance, which saves a lot of time and makes navigating thru the center a lot easier.

Great visit!

By justbeachy777 |

The 3D dog movie was really good. there was 5 of us, we walked around the exhibits then watched the movie

Great for kids

By Darren L |

The shuttle exhibit was definitely a highlight and is a unique feature of this museum. The IMAX shows are also worth the viewing - This was probably my daughter's favourite part. Otherwise, besides those, the other exhibits were good but neither amazing nor especially large.

Dogs Exhibit

By Kevin J |

We were lured there by the Dogs Exhibit but found the museum fun as a whole. They have plenty of displays there to keep you busy for a couple of hours. We also chose to see a movie in the imax theatre. There were a lot of school kids there the day we went but it didn’t degrade our experience. Not our top ten things to do in LA but great if the weather isn’t cooperating.

Very busy.

By BDrew |

Definitely oriented towards children, extremely busy and lots of the exhibitions not working. Cafe food tasty but quite expensive and all pretty unhealthy.

All of the NASA stuff was very cool and pretty enjoyable!

its a free attraction and kids will have a good time

By Hoben01 |

The great thing about this museum is its free. Its a mixture of space exploration and earth/sceince museum. The space exploration part will be of interest to those who want to see the space shuttle. Quite a few other space vehicles are displayed starting from the early gemini programs to current space station.
As for the rest of the museum portions show different bioclimates of the earth and a interesting salt aquarium. There are a number of different science exhibits what will make the kids interested is the bulk of the exhibits are interactive in nature instead of just reading seems like most grade school kids just want to beat the hell out of the moving parts.

So much fun and it’s free!

By Traveling_Teacher238 |

This place is great! It’s completely free and even though there are two floors we didn’t even finish one floor. There are loads of interactive exhibits for all ages to try and enjoy. My family and I learned so much and had fun. We will definitely be back to try more during our next trip.

Art of the Brick (Legos) featured exhibit is very interesting

By david |

The California Science Center is well worth visiting. Plan on spending 3-4 hours. There is no charge for admission but there is a charge for the special traveling exhibits. Currently the featured traveling exhibit is titled "The Art of the Block" and features various works of art constructed with Legos blocks. Some are full size animals, others recreated works of art (such as Mona Lisa and ancient sculptures). Free exhibits include a section on dogs which is very interesting. A new exhibit on reproduction is worth visiting. I believe you need to make reservations for the Legos exhibit so you should to verify if this is still the case. The space shuttle Endeavor is also on display. As mentioned most of the exhibits are free to visit. The Science Center is adjacent to the Natural History Museum, Rose Garden and near the USC campus. One could certainly spend the day at the various sites.

A Fantastic Experience For All

By osimajorusaf |

We, 3 adults and 4 children between the ages of 1 and 12, drove up from the San Diego area to visit the California Science Center. The center is conveniently located in downtown Los Angeles with plenty of parking at $12 for the day. There is no entrance fee for the center. There are lots of exhibits and hands on opportunities for the children and adults. This is a great museum that I would highly recommend for all ages!

Space shuttle = cool

By Sam2417 |

Lots to see here, but clearly seeing the actual space shuttle is the top draw. Very cool to see up close...also interesting to see the video on how they transported the shuttle on the streets of LA to get to the Science Center. Mobs of screaming kids are a small downside but worth it to see the shuttle.

Loved the Science Center

By terrysandra32 |

It was a real treat to spend some time in the california science center. Enjoyed the museum and was surprised that it was located so close to USC. A great find and way to spend a few hours in the day

Cool for young and old

By Dr_Engineer_Adelaide |

A great place to visit both for kids and adults. The museum section is interactive and interesting, with a focus on info for younger audiences, while the main reason we visited was to see the Shuttle, and it was well worth it! Amazing to see, with a great set of space-related exhibits too. Lots of models and history about the shuffle programme. Very cool, and definitely recommended

The Art of the Brick LEGO special exhibit

By 4stevemandy |

We went to see the Art of the Brick LEGO special exhibit. It turned out to be better than I thought! They had animals and major works of art that were recreated in LEGO form! They have some nice Air and Space exhibits including the Space Shuttle Endeavor, some jet planes, and some capsules from other space missions, including the one that carried Ham the Chimpanzee into space! The Ecosystems exhibits are another highlight! They showcase habitats like the Kelp Forest, Deserts, Poles, Rivers and more. They have a good sized Kelp Forest Tank, complete with a tunnel and large viewing window! One other highlight is the IMAX movie theater which offers science movies on the big screen! The food court offers a nice selection of food for lunch while you’re visiting. They do a really good job of having special traveling exhibits here! Check out the website for the current events!

King Tut Visit

By SGLA2017 |

Came to visit the King Tut exhibit here
parking was good a little expensive $$ 12
saw the exhibit ok and enjoyed it the admission also includes
a visit to the endeavor space part of the museum

A great place for space!

By SavageLand |

If you are a space fan this is an amazing place.

I had seen in a couple documentary films that the California Science Center was the final home of the Space Shuttle Endeavor but I didn't know it was also home to the engineering replica of the Cassini Huygens spacecraft, Pioneer 10, Mariner, Viking and 3 space capsules Mercury-redstone 2, Gemini 11, and apollo-soyuz.

Among the many other things on display is the A-12 Blackbird trainer that is worth the visit in and of itself.

Overall an excellent museum, must see!

Shuttle and more

By Don H |

This is a great museum with the Endeavour space shuttle plus lots more. Plan on walking lots to see it all.

So much to see...hard to believe it is free!

By Jemlnlx |

Lovely free Science Center/Museum in Exposition Park southwest of Los Angeles near the University of Southern California.

Parking was $15 and paid by ticketed machine at entrance and exit.

Science Center was surprisingly big given the free price tag. Lots of interesting exhibits throughout...thoughtfully organized by region/category.

I particularly enjoyed the space area which had a space shuttle simulator ($6).

There is a wonderful children's area with lots of puzzles and activities for younger ones. This includes an outdoor area with a play area. Really appreicated having this available for our 4-year old.

Great way to spend a few hours. (Estimate about 2-3 hours to see and read everything they have to offer)

This place is amazing!

By Michelle Dee |

We got a NASA cup & NASA pink puffer jacket & other ornaments too to travel back to New Zealand. This place is huge. So much to see so much to learn! We especially came here from New Zealand to see the space shuttle. Entry fee super duper cheap I actually expected to pay more but gave me opportunity to buy heaps at the gift shop hehe
Highly recommend to all! ❤💙💚💛💜

Amazing to see the shuttle Atlanta

By Dan L |

You can’t go wrong when visiting the California Science Centre, there is something for everyone. But the highlight is the shuttle exhibit, which was amazing to see and to be able to walk around. I’d really recommend visiting this on a trip to LA. My only worry was that while entry was free, you do have to pay for all the VR experiences.

Science Center

By Susan S |

My niece loves this place! She also loves the pizza at the food court!
We had a great time visiting.
I love the fact that the Naural History Museum and African American Museum is so close.
It's free and great way to count your steps.

Well worth a visit

By Tim F |

It was great to see that it was free! A rare treat, especially in Los Angeles.

This is a great modern facility. The Space Shuttle was what brought us here but there is plenty of other things to do as well, including an IMAX theater.

The Space Shuttle itself is in a bit of a transition as they are in the process of creating a better facility to house it, along with the other components. But it's difficult to describe what it is like seeing it in person - truly awe-inspiring and well worth a visit.

The Space Shuttle building has guides that you can ask questions to and find out more. Before the main hall, you can also see a movie of how they transported it to where it sits today, which was interesting, and other exhibits like tires and internal equipment.

Outside, there is the 4Runner that towed it for a part of its journey. It's in the corner of the main parking lot and worth taking a look on your way out.

We ate lunch here too and it was reasonably priced and of good quality.

Space shuttle Endeavor is a must see

By ccarlson2022 |

Was in the area with my 17 year old daughter and stopped to see the Endeavor. We visited on December 31 and learned the shuttle was going off display after that day for a few years while they move to a new facility. Our timing couldn’t have been better!

This is the third shuttle I have seen out of the 4 on display in the US. Atlantis in Florida is by far the best but this one was cool. It was housed in a building by itself with plenty of room for many people and to take photos. It was elevated so you could walk around and under the entire shuttle.

The walk to the shuttle was a bit far but I do get they want you to look at other things as well.

We really didn’t stop at many other exhibits, with the exception of a few space exhibits like Mattingly’s Apollo 16 lunar space suit.

Gift shop has plenty to purchase and there are a few diners on site as well.

Entry was free but we did pay $20 to park next door in the parking garage.

The Collosium football stadium that USC plays in is next door so you can take photos of the stadium during the trip if that interests you as well.

Bring out the nerd in me

By CheekyJo |

I’m a huge space fan, although I try to hide it, but here I certainly transformed into a super nerd. Great info. Plenty to see and do. Will take a full day to see everything

OK BUT.... KIND OF BORING.

By Santos M |

Kind of boring, and most of restaurants too expensive. And parking kind of confusing.plus no help from parking attendants.

A great day out

By Bridget E |

We spent the whole day here! The Endeavour Space Shuttle
Was the highlight. My teenage boys enjoyed the interactive exhibits, particularly the Ecosystem section. We didn’t visit the King Tutt exhibit but it seemed very popular.
The food at the grill was great.
Easy to get to on the metro.
Highly recommended for a free day out!

King Tut

By ColR06 |

We visited the King Tut exhibit, it was really grand. A few years back (40years ago) when we visited Cairo we spend quite a long time at the Cairo Museum mainly on what available in the King Tut exhibit at that time we found it exciting. However the exhibit at the California Science Center was really fantastic, as we got to see many articles that were not available during our referenced visit. Not only the articles were impressive -as many had not left Egypt, that in addition to the docent that explained a lot of the item on exhibit made it for great experience.

King Tut review.

By rshaneel |

King Tut review.
As far as the center goes it’s a little run down looking but it serves it purpose. The parking at $12 is not bad . Easy to get in and out of the parking garage. Enjoyed the spaceship exhibit and also the animal exhibit that they have. ( those were at no charge )

I have been looking forward to seeing the King Tut exhibit since I first heard of it and I feel very fortunate that I finally got the opportunity to see it in person. The layout was in a neat and manageable order. They had everything very nicely arranged and in order with little videos to inform you. They did have a good amount of artifacts. The exhibit is divided in 2 parts. The second part on the first floor which leads you into the souvenir shop. They had a good amount if things do buy.
Only thing that left a negative impact on me was the staff on the gift ship. They simply did not seem to care. I mean it was very obvious. They did not seem to want to interact with the customers. When I sent to the jewelry counter and even when I sent to pay for my purchases the staff seemed bothered.

Either way we still had a excellent time and are happy that we were able to attend to see the King .

For a free venue it was very nice

By Holly M |

This is free to get into to. I enjoyed the exhibits. I wouldn’t say there was anything overly spectacular but this is a great
place for families with young kids and very affordable for those on a budget. They have done an excellent job with the social distancing and keeping their patrons safe.

Interesting place

By Karina H |

We enjoyed and learned a lot about Endeavour...it’s a very good place to visit . Also we went to see Volcanoes at the IMAX and like it very much

Lots of things to do!

By Candice T |

The kids had lots of fun here. We paid for an IMAX show and it comes with a free admission to the Space Shuttle Endeavor. It was a bit confusing inside as we weren't sure which areas we can go into, and which ones aren't included in our ticket. The kids enjoyed looking around the place. We took about 4 hours to finish the whole place! Endeavor was really nice. You can see the real shuttle with lots of interesting facts and info about what happened to their different missions before. I would definitely recommend this place, both to adults and families with kids.

It's all about Endeavour

By AlexWoo153uk |

The main objective of the visit is to see the space shuttle Endeavour. But there is a lot more to explore at the California Science Centre. Check out those spacesuits from Project Mercury and Apollo 16; the burnt marks on the capsules, the satellite models and the Viking Lander. For a space fan, this is great.

There are other exhibits which we skipped. But do watch out for a Blackbird in the garden.

A dedicated Endeavour exhibition is being constructed at the moment. Once competed, the space shuttle (with its fuel tank and solid rocket boosters) will be shown in launch position. So if you wish to see this piece of history up close, you need to go soon.

Endevour space shuttle good to see!

By deesimone |

A must when at the california science centre wow $3 only to see history!
Very moving to see. Lots of stuff to read on the history and has a gift shop to buy a souvenir. Outside is the external tank
It is certainly huge.
Other exhibits here at the centre so a good half day can be spent here.
$12 parking

Space Shuttle

By jcalaska1 |

Pretty much a kids experience. We went specifically to see the Space Shuttle, which was worth the trip. Other wise it would have been about 4 hours of heavy traffic, depending on where you are staying. As for pricing, it is free.

Fantastic place - so much to see and learn

By sculley2016 |

We went to the science center today with our 4 children (12, 10, 8 and 4). We were impressed with the extent and diversity of the displays and the children loved the many interactive displays. Very educational and fun. Fascinating to see the endeavor spaceship and learn all about it. The center is free for all displays except for optional exhibitions that you may pay to enter. We paid to see the King Tut exhibition and thought it was well worth it. Amazing to see such historical items and learn all about the discovery of the tomb. Plenty of other things to keep you well occupied at the center if you don’t wish to pay for optional exhibitions. Very clean and beautiful building and we were highly impressed. We were there on a Friday and it was busy but not terribly so - we could easily see and take part in the interactive aspects of the center.

Lots to look at and very well presented

By Kathy Deeth |

I just loved our trip to the Science Centre and just wish we could have spent more time there.

We specifically went to see the Endeavor and it did not disappoint. The number of displays and the supporting information that went along with everything in display was first class. It was so well put together, and really took you on the journey as we walked around.

What America has achieved in space exploration is just amazing!

We spent three hours there and I wish I had allocated more time, as there was still so much we didn't see and wish we could have.

I definitely recommend visiting the California Science Centre!

One of the Best Science Centers That I Have Visited

By Brian S |

This is a great science center. Much bigger then the other ones that I have visited. There are a lot of exhibits divided into many areas over several floors. My favorite exhibit was the shuttle Endeavour. You can get up close and take some great pictures. This place is amazing for young and old alike. Definitely worth a visit.

WOW!!!

By Jofee14 |

It is one of the best museum, I have ever visited. Entertaining, huge and interactive. I just loved the earthquake simulator. Definitely worth a visit.

Space Shuttle

By Christa B |

We came to CSC during our Fall Break with our preteen and teenage children. We love museums and science so this seemed like a good fit for us. My kids really enjoyed seeing, reading, and hearing about all of the space shuttle program facts that are on display. They also enjoyed all of the other interactive displays throughout the museum. We did not buy tickets into the King Tut exhibit because we thought it was a little too pricey for us. I would recommend visiting California Science Center if you are looking for something to do that is no-cost to low-cost. I would say even young children would enjoy CSC.

Fantastic free activity

By 996Chrissy |

A great way to spend a couple of hours for free. The kids loved the news reading experience and petting the sea creatures. You need to pay to park but it is well worth it.

Good science museum

By Joaqui Viajero |

The museum is relatively large, with sections dedicated to science, highlighting astronomy, the museum has quite a few recreational attractions, so you can take the children.
It is a good place, however we feel it lacks something, it is not an assured visit.

Worth it for the Shuttle

By OneManWolfpack658 |

Seeing the space shuttle is worth the visit alone. The rest of the museum is cool, but the shuttle is amazing

Bring the Kids during the week! Probably busy on the weekend!

By Tawnyrval |

If you decide to visit, please consider donating, the California Science Center has free admission. The Exhibits include; Space Shuttle Endeavor, life beginnings, Fire! Science and Safety, Ecosystems, Air and Space, Blackbird Exhibit and Garden.
Amazônia: Photography by Sebastião Salgado special Exhibit was absolutely amazing.
“The 13,000 sq. ft. exhibition invites guests to explore more than 200 large-scale suspended photographs, including stunning portraits of indigenous leaders and their communities and dramatic landscapes taken over seven years of expeditions deep into the forest, captured by the world-renowned Brazilian photographer. Salgado’s breathtaking black-and-white photographs draw viewers into one of the planet’s most biodiverse regions.”

“This extraordinary exhibition will enrich our understanding of life in the Amazon, the ongoing threats from the outside world, and the vital role of sustainable development and conservation to ensure its survival for generations to come,” said California Science Center President and CEO, Jeffrey Rudolph. “We are honored to share Amazônia with our guests, and are immensely grateful for both the vision and generosity of Wallis Annenberg and the Annenberg Foundation for bringing this opportunity to our visitors.” California Science Center..

As for the food court, 3/5 the prices are somewhat reasonable… The angus beef double burger was reasonable at $12 with fries but does not include a drink. I thought the junior burger basket was a great deal 1/6lb angus beef patty, pickles and sauce, fries and bottled water. Then I look over at the sides; a burger and side of fries separately was $8. This worked for me; I wasn’t very hungry; I don’t drink soda and I really don’t mind the filtered water on the soda machine. The down side, no filtered water just carbonated, not my fav.

loved it

By Melissa M |

I loved seeing the king tut exhibit and the space shuttle. It is a great muesum expecially because its mostly free. The king tut is leaving but the shutt;e itself is worth the visit. Highly recommend a visit.

King Tut Exhibit was a Wonderful Treasure Trove

By Anita M |

The King Tut exhibit held special excitement and meaning to me as I had visited Cairo, Giza, and Alexandria, Egypt last May 2018. My friend was excited about my trip last year so the King Tut exhibit was the closest he could get to seeing priceless Egyptian treasures. King Tut had all items packed for him to provide him comfort for his long journey into the Afterlife. Judging by the various replicas of King Tut, he was a very handsome young man, so it is even more heartbreaking to know he died so young. You can also see the 45 minute film Mysteries of Egypt with Omar Shariff narrating how the Nile River played such a vital role in the early civilization of Egypt.

Great with kids!

By Aricot |

Fantastic place to really spend the day experiences so much stuff with the kids. We even saw a film! We came with another friend and her daughter so the girls really had fun exploring. They especially loved the space ship exhibit.

Great museum. Must see for the Space Shuttle!

By Traveler |

Great museum especially to see one of the few Space Shuttles. Free admission and reasonable parking. Great exhibits as well on habitats and space flight. Highly recommended.

Family day out

By Debbie E |

Heaps of entertainment for the whole family, a whole day could be spent here no problem and kids kept happy. Main attraction for us was Space Shuttle and was well worth it. We ate lunch there and surprised by choice and reasonable pricing. A definite must f your n LA.

Big museum area

By RamonFP1 |

Big museum area.
Lots of walking.
See Natural History Museum.
Other attractions there, unsure of some, like Coliseum.

Excellent choice for kids AND adults

By MVI |

I highly recommend everyone to come visit science center, regardless if you're visiting LA or live here. Lots of great exhibits, a lot of educational materials. Awesome.

From Pharaohs to Rockets

By anitan434 |

I visited the space shuttle again after experienceing the King Tut exhibit. Both were amazing (but where was the King?). Once again we got the attention of an expereinced docent at the space shuttle (been twice previously). These folks are so happy to share their stories and engage in detail conversation should you wish it.

Great place to view a Space Shuttle

By B.E. |

Went to view the Space Shuttle they have there and had a great time.

Staff are super friendly and helpful, and admission to the Space Shuttle was free on the day we went!

There's a little pre viewing exhibit with some items and videos about how they got it there.

After that you can walk all the way around the Shuttle and there's a gift store right next to it.

They also have the only remaining external tank, outside right next to it which you can view afterwards.

It's not quite as fancy as the Space Shuttle viewing experience at KSC but it's still well worth going to see if your interested in space!

Endeavour space shuttle is closed for public

By Jure |

Museum is a great experience. I recommend to see a movie deep space to.
I rated 3 stars because I can't hide my disappointment that they didn't mention anywhere that Endeavour is closed for public because of moving until the end of the year.

I still recommend visiting museum.

I went there for the shuttle wasnt disappointed :)

By Umayr Masud |

I went to see the space shuttle and what a fantastic sight it is. The other exhibits are excellent too, but nothing beats seeing a space shuttle :)

Very cool science centre

By Tarola1 |

We went for the space shuttle, which did not disappoint. It is awe inspiring. Everyone should see it if in LA. Easy to get to on the metro, just walk across to science centre.

Free fun for all

By Carmen D |

We love coming here, both for exhibitions and just for the center itself. We ususally go to the IMAX movies right next to the center as well, since this gives us free entrance to the Endeavour space shuttle. The center itself is free and you can do alot here, but they also have a few things that cost money if you would like to try a simulator for instance.

Kind of a let down

By Braddock52 |

I will mention the good points first, the Space Shuttle is amazing to see up close and the space exhibits are really great. The IMAX presentation of Apollo 11 is awesome. Other than that it is a fairly average museum. The food is way overpriced and I am not sure but it would be better if you could bring in your own or eat first. My main problem was in the room where the Space Shuttle is kept. We had a three year old and try to keep him away from stores because he wants expensive things. That is fairly normal with little ones. There is a shop in the same room as the shuttle without any walls so you can't miss it. We had a terrible time with him.

Of course, see the Endeavor, but they also have their own aquarium!

By Kathy D |

First we toured all the normal exhibits you would expect to find at a renowned science center. Then we absorbed the Space Shuttle Endeavor. Now this is something you don't find at most science centers! We read every plaque, inspected every exhibit, and watched every film clip. After we tore ourselves away from the Endeavor, we returned to the main part of the science center to immerse ourselves in their aquarium. What a great day!

Blah

By theresak |

We went to see the King Tut exhibit. The objects themselves were fascinating, but as with all of the exhibits I have been to see at this museum the exhibition itself was poorly done. After looking at an artifact and wondering about it, one turns to the description for the answers to one's questions to find that inevitably not a single one has been addressed. It's as if the writers of these things have no natural human curiosity. Or it doesn't occur to them that not everyone knows what a cartouche is. Rarely do I care what materials an object is made of. What do the archaeologists think this means? What was it for? Where was it in relation to the other items? Give us some historical context, etc. Ugh. I am almost always frustrated.

Tut exhibit a must see!

By SORork |

Finest exhibition of King Tut I have ever seen. Very well done and the audio tour is worth. You get to hear the sound of a trumpet being played that you see in the exhibit that won't be played again because it's fragile. Won't be at a another museum in the US. Going to Paris and then London next.

Book to see the space shuttle!

By Jibran A |

Not many places you can see an actual space shuttle! The museum has lots of other stuff, mainly aimed at kids. I recommend visiting the IMAX too.

Space Shuttle is amazing

By Ryan |

The science center is truly a fun place to visit for kids and adults. They have some really good exhibits especially the Space Shuttle. If you are a fan of space flight this is a place you need to visit. Just seeing the shuttle up close was worth the price of admission. The fuel tank outside the exhibit is also amazing to look at if not just for the size of it. The food was decent and they do have quite a few options. It's definitely worth a visit as you can learn a lot about the world of science.

Don't Miss the Shuttle!

By Fearless730216 |

If for no other reason (and there are many) to go to the California Science Center, the space shuttle Endeavor is there and the display is fascinating. There are videos and lots of information all around the shuttle, too. Spend the whole day there!

Awesome experience

By pwb77 |

A worthwhile adventure! We got there when they opened and were able to explore a lot of the museum before big crowds showed up. Endeavor was an amazing experience!

Used to be better

By Michael B |

This place used to have an entire floor of interactive physics activities, reminiscent of the exploratorium in San Francisco. The however removed all this and replaced it with a bunch TV screens. It's now a revolving exhibit. Last time I was there it was something celebrating music supposedly, which sounds cool, but it was just showing a bunch of famous people winning grammies. A bunch of pop culture garbage. Was SUPER heart broken to see they had removed all the fun physics stuff, it was my favorite place to play with my son, who is now 5. Still worth the visit, but the neighboring Natural History museum is way better. California Science Center still has good parts, seeing the space shuttle is neat, and he aquarium section is pretty awesome, in its also free admission. But really disappointed in this decision, of theirs...took away a lot of the magic of the visit.

King Tut exhibit

By Hanan C |

We went there for the King Tut exhibit displaying more than 150 objects from the tomb of this pharaoh. Ad said that it would be the last time these objects will be outside of Egypt. The exhibit traveled to other places before CA waiting for the Egypt Museum to be finished in 2021.
Having seen the objects at the old Cairo Museum I have to say the new display is so much better. Almost every single object is displayed by itself in a neat case with adequate explanations in English and Spanish. Explanatory panels for themes (mummification, rituals, etc.) introduce a group of objects. These explanations are correct and not to extensive as to bore young ones. 3D reconstruction of the sarcophagi and coffins is quite instructive and really well made.
Cons: the famous mask and none of the sarcophagi and coffins made it to the exhibit which is quite disappointing. After all, the mask is the most recognizable object from the tomb.
But all in all, worth the trip and the 27.50$ ticket price.

So much to see and do

By Emily C |

I have been to the California Science Center about 4 separate times as different exhibits have visited. This is such a great place for children and adults. The permanent interactive exhibits that are free are wondeful (ecosystems, kelp tank, engineering)! The permanent exhibit for Endeavour is awesome and I never tire of visiting it. The IMAX theater is very fun, too. After visiting the science center we enjoy walking through the rose garden. You can save 20% with AAA on tickets. Buy tickets online ahead of time for busy times because tickets to certain exhibits do sell out.

Endeavour!

By SuperDuper Coach |

This is mainly a hands-on science center for kids and teenagers, however it also houses the space shuttle endeavour, which is why we went. Though one can’t go inside the shuttle it is fabulous to be able to walk all around it, and it is presented authentically. There is great information presented audio visually around the shuttle and a good gift shop too. We spent probably an hour in the shuttle hangar (we didn’t visit any of the rest of the science center). It is free to enter unless you want to watch an imax show or see the current special exhibition.

Very popular

By LSQRD1 |

We were nearby and decided to check out the science center primarily to see the space shuttle. The ticketing information was a bit confusing. What I discerned was that the Center has free entry except for the special exhibit ( we skipped) and a modest charge to see the shuttle ( which we did). We were surprised how extensive the normal exhibits were and there were some nice displays of sea life. It was extremely crowded. The shuttle itself was interesting and worth checking out. To get the full experience, I recommend coming early so you can explore the displays before the crowds set in. If you have kids I would plan for a long visit.

Space Shuttle

By Trevor P |

Being a shuttle tourist, this was a must stop. The overall centre is fairly easily laid out. We had lunch before we started and the food was very good. Then to the Endeavour exhibit which is still just mind boggling in scale!

Awesome

By Vincent A |

We had a wonderful time exploring everything to see at the California Science Center including the retired Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Endeavor exhibit

By travellinggal10 |

We went there for the Endeavor Exhibit but actually ended up spending longer time on the other exhibits. They might be really cool for the younger kids but we had a lot of fun with no kids in the party, just some people interested in science. The Endeavor is really spectacular and they have gathered a lot of info about all of the space shuttles on the walls. Remember to reserve the spot for the Endeavor Exhibit earlier online. On the day we were there there was not a lot of people so we got to go there earlier even though our ticket was for a later time that day. Good customer service. The science center is free (awesome!!) the Endeavor Exhibit is very reasonably priced. The IMAXes are priced too but do not know about them since we did not go.

Thsi is Superb!

By Trudi G |

Saw Endeavor and was blown away...great exhibit with lots to look at and learn from...truly worthwhile...

Worth it for the Shuttle

By James K |

Absolutely mind blowing just how big the space Shuttle is. Entire museum is OK and maybe a bit boring but worth the trip out just to see the shuttle and the fuel tank.

Excellent space section and also aviation aircraft such as an A 12 spyplane trainer and endeavor space shuttle

By Gordon D |

WE saw an Imax movie on Apollo 11 trip to the moon. We also went on a simulator ride to space and back. They have representative capsules on all3 space programs

Nice place to spend a day

By karlbethel |

A great building with a lot of interactive stations. A lot of neat static displays and a ton of information given. The Imax theater is a definite stop foe a great movie. They have several playing to choose . You can't leave before seeing the Space Shuttle Endeavor.

Plenty to Do

By Cassidy |

There was tons to visit in this place, without having to pay extra for other exhibits. Although some of it was closed down during the pandemic, there was at least two hours worth of stuff to look at! It is VERY space based, but that’s fine! I especially loved the dog domestication exhibit.

Wow....just wow!

By debk7901 |

Seeing the space shuttle Endeavor in person was surreal....and amazing! I would highly recommend experiencing this to everyone!

it was all very interesting but the space exhibits stand out

By EmeraldCityGlobeTrtr |

We walked through all the exhibits and they were all very interesting and informative (I even took a turn in the simulated earthquake area). What stood out the most for me was the space exhibits, from learning about satellites that have been launched, seeing actual modules that were used, and samples brought back from the moon was nothing short of amazing. If you have an interest in space, this place is definitely worth checking out.

King Tut Exhibit and

By Joseph W C |

Visited the King Tut exhibit which was a wonderful collection of artifacts and historical displays. The final viewing is January 6, 2019 and will be moved to the Cairo museum and may not be available in the U.S. again. While there we visited the Endeavor exhibit which was fabulous.

NOT JUST ANOTHER SCIENCE CENTER

By kum28 |

First assumed it will be like many other Ok place having been to Smithsonians and National museums in DC. Were proved wrong
We saw the blue whales in IMAX which was good but can get better, Guess try out the Deep Sky should be more impressive. The place has the Space shuttle Endeavour displayed which we saw from dar. They have a lot in their space Section to see and admire.
There was an amazing display of crazy, ahead of time models of Leonardo Da Vinci on display which shows an amazing versatility of the Artist, Creator, Scientist and what not.
Their Food court can get better though for long visits.
Worth a visit.

New IMAX 3D movie Volcanoes

By margarita |

Spectacular movie showing volcanic eruptions all over the world including recent one on Hawaii. Great up close footage of eruptions and lava flows.
Senior and student discounts.
Center has food court.
Ate at The Grill. Generous portions and refillable drinks.
Liked fried fish fillets, onion rings, pastrami sandwich and Asian salad with option to add chicken.

Never a dull moment

By Creeping_Death_LA |

I grew up in the neighborhood and I've been coming here for four decades and even bringing my daughter here while she was growing up. This was a weekly outing for my daughter and I and it never got old. There's always something to see no matter how many times I've seen these exhibits I still enjoy coming here.

Nice visit.

By Jason D |

Will be great once the shuttle exhibit is finished. Nothing on the entire third floor, and a lot of Amazon stuff but otherwise a pretty good museum.

Well worth visiting

By Lukas K |

Great exposition with several attractions. The cherry on the top is the space shuttle Endeavor. While here, you can also visit other museums and expositions. Parking quite expensive ($12), I found on-street parking for $1,5/hour, but maximum parking was two hours and it was approx. 5 mins walking distance from the areal

fun place to learn and explore

By Robert E |

great science demonstrations and learning presentations - interactive platforms for participating and exploring

Incredible facilty for all to enjoy.

By Jerseybob175 |

This science center has something for everyone. From transportation exhibits to rivers and desert walkthrough exhibits for all to enjoy. A walkway through the aquarium with the ability to go to the top of the tank and see how the simulated waves are produced that sustains life for plants in the tank. The most incredible feature is the space shuttle endeavor is enclosed in the center and is mind blowing in size and history. A Extra Tank (ET) designed for fuel sits just outside the center and is massive as well. While there, an entire program regarding dogs was on display and was highly interactive. This is a don't miss for all!

Plenty to see and lots of hands on exhibits

By John S |

We took our 7 year old grand daughter to this museum. She had been before but wanted to see the Dogs exhibition. This was extra cost but we spent a good time looking at all the exhibits and trying different challenges. We then viewed all the other things especially Endeavour which was brilliant. Highly recommended.

Suprise of our trip

By Sebcat14 |

After 3 Theme Parks in a row (with my children 9 and 11) I decided that we needed a break. The Cali Science Center was high on my list due to the Space Shuttle Endeavor Exhibit - I thought we would do 2 hours at the most - little did I know that the kids loved it and it was beyond all of their expectations and we stayed 5 hours including lunch.

My kids enjoyed all of the exhibits but my son was enthralled by the Space Shuttle and the rest of the space and flight presentations ( SR71 Blackbird)

The aquarium was also popular

The simulator rides are fun also

Lunch choices are good and prices where reasonable.

Parking is $12 so that is reasonable too.

Endeavor Shuttle very interesting

By Leanne H |

We came here specifically to see the Endeavor Shuttle. Its free to visit, they have a beautiful rose garden in the back, but its closed during the winter months. The roses were still blooming and beautiful. Parking is $12 for the entire day. Lots of interesting exhibits and things to see and interact with. The Endeavor was the highlight of our visit to the science center until a teacher with a group of young students continually yelled at the students (who were behaving well) while we were trying to read all the information in the Endeavor building. They have a couple coffee shops and meal options.

Great place to visit

By Lena K |

The California Science Center had an exhibit on Cambodia's Angor Wat. It was a well designed, easy to follow route through the exhibit, which had amazing statues and informative signs.
There are a few places to get something to eat and drink with plenty of outdoor seating.
After lunch, we went to the IMAX theater, just outside of the Science Center's main entrance. We attended a 3-D showing, "Under the Sea," narrated by Jim Carrey. Because we were all wearing 3-D glasses, my granddaughter and the rest of the audience gasped at the sea animals seeming to be coming off the screen heading straight for us! Amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed our day at the California Science Center.

Much more than Endeavour

By MarioCanedo |

I planned to visit this museum just to see the Endeavour, but I've found much more: nature, aviation, science, kids lab and the temporary exposition of King Tutancamon.
I used the Go City LA Card to IMAX, and I bought the tickets to see the King Tut.
I suggest at least 4-6 hours to visit this museum.
Near by you can also visit the African History Museum and the 1984 Olympic Stadium.
Avoid this area on days with football games.

Surprisingly great

By Lorne G |

Thought that we would just pass some time there but we were blown away by how much there is to do and how excellent the exhibits are. From the SR-71 in the parking lot to the shark filled aquarium, the whole thing is amazing.

Interesting and fun

By JEnriquez |

A good spot. True science, not just exhibits. Natural scenery particularly good. Do not miss roof. A little hard to navigate.

One of the best ...

By Edwin R |

This is one of the best science centers I've been to! Lots of areas to explore with kids. Love the space and ocean exhibits.

Dont miss this

By Lars H |

Close to LA Downtown and on the beatiful University of Southern California you find this Museum with Free admission. The exhibitions are fantastic and covers so much science that you need a full day to enkom it all. The best in my opinion is the space shuttle Endeavior (cost extra). Do not miss the extraordinary Rose garden in the back!!!

Adventure day

By Rosa M |

Great place for a family adventure. Admission is free. The perfect place where kids can learn and explore science 🧪

WOW... Even better than the last time

By HypnoWarrior |

We only spent 3 hours here today with 3 adults and 2 children (Aged 3 and 9).
We watched the IMAX 3D Superpower Dogs - Such a brilliant movie for all ages. The 3D effects are great but the story line is so powerful. Highly recommend it..

We spent another 2 hours odd in the museum (maybe 2 or 3 different areas) but there was so much to do there it kept everyone occupied for the entire duration..

The kids loved the kids area with the magnetic sliders / rollers. It kept them occupied for at least 30 minutes and probably longer if we hadn't dragged them away.

We did the Endeavour briefly (but we had done it before) so only spent a short time there (You get free entrance with any IMAX ticket)..

Will definitely come back here on our next visit but plan for much longer.

The only negative was the parking cost of $12 fixed price. Would have been nice if there were other parking options nearby..

Great fun!

By Brooke Brown |

Lovely way to spend an afternoon. It's great admission is free, except for special exhibits. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Space Shuttle Endeavour up close! Highly recommend for all ages!

Good things to see

By 210SATX |

We drove to LA just to see the King Tut exhibit at the Science Center and it was well worth the trip. Unless you plan on going to Egypt, this is a once in a life time chance to see these artifacts, as they will be going into and staying at the new museum in Cairo. The 150 artifacts can easily be seen in two hours, but we took at least three as we really enjoyed staring at them. Because they seem to encourage people to buy tickets for early admittance, it would probably be less crowded in the afternoons. There is a nice café at the Science Center, so you can plan your trip with eating there and not having to leave to eat.

As we still had time, we also went ahead and saw the Endeavor exhibit and we also enjoyed viewing it.

We rode the blue line train which dropped us off right by the center. There's also lots of buses that come and go, so you can leave your car behind and use public transit.

No space shuttle!

By Nat |

Clean, car park cost outside $20, some exhibits quite interesting, you cannot see the Endeavour space shuttle at all.....didn't try cafe but seemed popular.

Truly amazing museum

By Debbie P |

We went to look at the endeavour space shuttle and we were very surprised at the quality and quantity of space exhibits. We did the shuttle simulator which was $6 each and the imax movie about space travel which was $9 each. We spent a lot longer than we had intended in the museum as it was just so good. We have increased our knowledge and had a truly great time.
Entry to the space museum area was free.
Highly recommend if you like space.

Great afternoon.

By T B |

Amazing that it is free admission. Great exhibits. We visited science centers whenever we travel and this was one of the best.

Endeavour!

By Steve M |

I went for Endeavour, and it was as great as I had hoped. If you have some time in LA, I highly recommend it. It is a 5 star experience to be in that hangar, and it will only get better with the future improvements. I also do recommend, even though you might be champing at the bit to get to see the actual shuttle, that you take the time to go through the museum exhibit before. Just the movie of the shuttle being carted through LA was emotional. It's nice.

The other thing I wouldn't miss is the kelp forest aquarium with the walk-through tunnel.

Beyond that, the museum is geared mostly to kids. From my observation, the kids around all seemed to be having a great time, but I can't speak specifically to that.

Two minor annoyances.

First, there are no signs but you have to buy a ticket to Endeavour. It's a small price and I would have paid five or ten times as much happily, but there just aren't any signs out that tell you. So, make sure you buy a ticket, they are the same place you buy IMAX tickets (which I thought was just for IMAX tickets, hence my confusion).

Second, as a word of advice, don't drive if you can avoid it. But since it's hard to avoid driving in LA, just FYI even if your GPS gives you a different route, come in along Figueroa. I was coming from DTLA along Flower St. and my choice was either to be the chump blocking the intersection or never be able to break into the line into the parking lot. I went for opening, so I'm not sure whether there are lines to get in later in the day, or on days when it is not raining.

free museum

By wineanddine32 |

We happened upon this museum and checked it. It has planes, satelites, mercury/gemini/apollo capsules, and many exhibits. We went to Endeavor space shuttle - the real thing! Nice display around it. I think Endeavor cost $3.50.
Our group was from 6 years old to 70 years old. I'd recommend this museum, even if just for a short visit.

Fantastic Space Museum.

By elizabethlascheid |

The California Science Museum located Los Angeles, for me at least, is more of a space museum. We absolutely love it. One of is the space shuttles is there and you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about the space shuttle, it's astronauts and its history. This is my favorite part of the museum and my grandson absolutely loves it.

They're also many other things to see at the California Science Museum. An IMAX theater is located there and they usually show natural geographic type movies and things of that nature. There is an extra fee for the IMAX theater.

They also have a wonderful science section that is fascinating.

The museum does charge a fee but it is reasonable and there is ample parking, including handicap parking, and accessible sites for everyone.

Outstanding

By Judpma012 |

Dog Show.. Space ship... Aquarium... Star gazing... Climbing wall.. Flight Simulator. If you can't find something you like there is something seriously wrong with you. And it's free to walk into and around. Attractions inside are extras but very reasonably priced. Our 11 and 9 year old did everything and we only shelled out about $40.
Food court was good, food was good. The space stuff with the Endeavor Space ship was amazing, to say the least. Very large shop with Space ans animal stuff in it. Yoneed reservations so go online. They limit who can enter when so it doesn't get too crowded. All in all great place to spend time with family. Something for everyone.

We visited the King Tut exhibit and the IMAX Theatre. the King Tut exhibit is truly amazing. The artifacts and gold items from 3000 years ago have to be seen to be believed. Well laid out and very informative display. Followed up with amazing IMAX film on the valley of the Kings.

If you like science, then go. But...

By MediaByte |

...there are cities like Portland, NY and Washington, DC with better ones. If you have time to kill and have a curious nature, then it's great. Be sure to see the "butterfly" room and the rose garden when it's the right time of year.

Excellent Museum, well presented exhibits, loved the space shuttle

By Mhairi59 |

On holiday in Los Angeles from Scotland and decided to visit the Science Center. Very impressed with the museum, particularly the Endeavour space shuttle. Very good interactive exhibits and particularly liked the fact that everything was well presented in simple, easy to understand language but wasn't dumbed down. Lots of school parties there who looked like they were having fun, particularly in the flash flood display
Bought lots of souvenirs in the gift shop, one of my favourites was the rubber duck in a little space shuttle - see photo attached.
Easy to get to if you go by the blue E line metro which goes past Exposition Park.

California Science Senter - Dog Exhibits and tons more!

By AlyTayHayAlex |

We had planned on hitting up the Natural History Museum and checking out the butterfly pavilion and new dinosaur exhibits. Along the route we saw the signs for a dog exhibit at the California Science Center and headed over there instead.

It was a perfect day to spend time in the exhibit, checking out the cool and fun interactive exhibits and of course learning all about dogs! During scheduled times, there are handlers and their dogs for shows, we missed it but it sounds fun.

The exhibits are completely interactive; want to see how fast you are compared to dogs? Run the track! Or check your dog knowledge in a fun 3 person Jeopardy style game. Build a dog, walk an invisible dog or practice giving a virtual dog commands and treats.

We also took in the 3d Dog movie, narrated by Chris Evans, its about 45 minutes and open seating. Totally get popcorn and a drink the prices are super reasonable.

The other exhibits are so fun to walk through - visit the Endeavor Space Shuttle and learn how astronauts live in space. Or walk through the eco systems of the earth and visit the touch pools or aquarium tunnel.

The food court has two sides, so make sure to check them both out before making food choices!
Note, parking ia bout $12

Feels run down... there's a reason it's free

By THG74 |

Went here with a 4 year old. He was bored by most of it except the Aquarium area.

The interactive elements were mostly broken or very tired. A lot of this place just needs a huge makeover and modernizing. We were done with the place after about 40 minutes and went to the Natural History Museum instead - which was infinitely better.

Great science museum

By Stefan F |

We spent a whole day in the museum trying out all sorts of experiments and learning about nature and man. We did not watch any of the imax movies nor did we see the Endevour. Some of the exhibits costs extra.

Fantastic Museum

By Thefamilytraveller |

This is a must see in LA. We went to see the space shuttle and there was so much more to look through and keep young minds engaged. There is a lot to do in Los Angeles and this is worth spending a morning or afternoon

Interactive museum

By Mary A |

There are many options for families and adults here. Parking is $12 but much of the museum is free. Bring a lunch to eat indoors or out or visit the food court. The pizzas were good! We paid for the King Tut exhibit which is spectacular. To do over again, I would start with part 2 of King Tut which gives an overview, then proceed to view the artifacts on the third floor. The space shuttle is also inspiring. We skipped the imax movies but I would check those out next time.

Will be a great place when finished construction

By Dawn L |

It is under construction so parts of it are off limits. This along with a million schools made our visit not as good as it could've been. The best part was the aquarium and the outside beside the aquarium. I think when the construction is over and there aren't a million school trips happening this would be a great place to visit again!

Lovely Center for science

One can spend nearly a full day here. For any science aficionado's, this one is a must visit. There is so much of our scientific history available here. Plus, the opportunity to read about and see Space Shuttle Endeavor up close and personal is an amazing experience by itself.

Very nice, but the Shuttle can’t be visited much longer

By GiorgioBranca |

Must-see museum for science enthusiasts, modern, accessible and moreover free. Unfortunately at the time of my visit, August 2024, the Endavour spacecraft was not open to visitors and I was told at the information desk that it will not be open for at least two or three years.
Too bad because it is definitely the main Attraction of the museum. However it is also worth seeing for the beautiful surroundings.

Small amazing university for all ages

By Alireza123 |

“California Academy of Sciences has so much to see — from hands-on exhibits and IMAX shows to fascinating displays on various subjects. The space section was especially fantastic. It’s particularly engaging for kids, and many schools bring students here. I love this lively and inspiring place.”

Egypt!!

By smctucson |

Loved the special exhibit on king tut. It was very busy but the artifacts and history were amazing. Photos were allowed. It's a cant miss opportunity.

Additionally history of the space program is well done with an entire space shuttle on display as well as other space crafts from Saturn missions etc.

Lots of hand on for kids.

Museum free except special exhibits, IMAX, and some simulators.

Great free activity

By Travelmummi |

Great free activity on a hot day was great to see the endeavour lots of little displays not working. Friendly staff watched the IMAX space movie worth the money very informative and great quality

Typical Science Center + The Shuttle Endevor

By dctravel |

The California Science Center is a very good science center, with many of the same features that make other science centers successful and fun, including hands on exhibits and an emphasis on the local area. What sets the CA Science Center apart from other museums is that it has the Space Shuttle Endevor! What a cool exhibit they have put together that allows you to learn about the space shuttle, see how they got it and an external fuel tank to the museum, and then to see those pieces of history. Access to the space shuttle is extra ($5 pp in 2018), but well worth it since the museum is free (donations requested).

Kids found it dull

By tinker |

We took our kids (11 and 7). We were disappointed that very few of the attractions really grabbed their attention. Wandered around for a couple of hours then left.

The Art of the Brick-great exhibit

By jerjon |

I wasn't expecting too much from the "The Art of the Brick" exhibit but was very pleasantly surprised at how amazing the Lego creations were! Very much worth a visit.

The Science Centre also has a lot of interactive exhibits that are great for kids and interesting for adults as well.

The IMAX 3D theatre is also great; worth getting the combo ticket to see a show.

King Tut Exhibit

By CoastalTraveler_11 |

We visited when the Center opened on a Monday morning. Lots of parking was available, with a very manageable number of visitors going through the exhibit. Marvelous exhibit.

Pro tip: hold on to every scrap of paper associated with your tickets. We were asked for various receipts and tickets along the way so the barcodes could be scanned. Since we didn’t expect that to happen so many times we’d have to check pockets, purses, bags, etc to find them again in order to gain access to the next part of the exhibit.

Don’t miss this place!!

By Nick M |

We visited here after spending a couple of hours in the Natural History Museum. We spent about two hours in the science centre, but could have stayed another four!!
Seeing Space Shuttle Endeavour was great, with so much information provided around it.
If you’ve got smaller kids don’t miss this place as there are loads of hands on displays.

Great Family Attraction

By Nathan Thomas (Kokoda Trekking) |

We travelled all the way from Australia to visit LA and this was a great place to take our children.

They loved it and it was one of the highlight's of our trip. We spent a whole day here and could have probably spent much longer if we had more time.

Will visit again if we ever get back to LA!

Great family activity

By Claire B |

Just fantastic. Very interactive and enjoyed by the whole family. Lots of games to try and experiment with in each exhibit

King Tut

By Janette P |

Its fascinating to know the only way to see these objects is to fly to Egypt. With that said, you have to have interest in Ancient Egypt, or Egyptilogy to enjoy the exhibit. Its literally just the artifacts found inside the tomb minus all the sarcophagus and the mummy itself (duh!). Its pretty crowded, so I recommend taking your time and being patient to be able to see most of these upfront. Also recommend the earlier am showings. PRE PURCHASE TICKETS, otherwise you will wait HOURS, if you're able to get into the museum at all. Overall, it was a great exhibit of artifacts.
There are many backdrops around the exhibit that make awesome photo ops!

Best part of L.A.!

By Julie W |

WOW!!! This is an amazing place for people of all ages. Incredible design, so much to see, do, and learn. And it's free!!!

Our Choice for Free Museum Weekend in LA This Year!

By LadyDiButterfli |

This museum has 3 levels and there is a lot of information, lots to read and study, it's great! There is a café there so once you're parked you don't need to leave the museum and we purchased the IMAX movie tickets which is just steps away from the CSC so it's convenient.

Great Endeavor exhibit but could be better organized

By Coolpete101 |

First time visitors to this Science center. A nice break that the entry price was free because Disneyland and Universal studio had taken most of our money. They did charge for a simulator ride and a special levy for viewing the Endeavor. I didnt mind the minor expenses. However, this special levy appears to be recent. A friend that lives in LA said several months back when his family went there were no charges. Again, there are so much expense associated with putting up such an exhibit I really dont mind making a contribution. My beef is there really was no notification at the door or at the box office that there would be a fee for the Endeavor. Only charges for Imax movies were displayed. It was not until we tried to enter the Endeavor exhibit that we were asked for a ticket. Then I had to backtrack all the way to the outdoor area where the box office was to get tickets. Such a dumb and ill thought out set up. Otherwise, the Endeavor was worth more than the price of admission. It was awe inspiring to see this majestic craft. Rest of the exhibits were in line with other science museums and presented nothing out of the ordinary. But I am glad I came just to see the historic Endeavor.

Wonderful interactive exhibits

By InnaYYZ |

The exhibits are spectacular. This is a great place for kids to learn. I saw many very excited children who were enjoying their experiences. we spent 2.5 hours going through the Center, continually stopping and enjoying the exhibits.

Space Shuttle worth seeing, but otherwise "average"

By BobandJosie |

We went as a Family group with quite young children. For kids there is a lot of interactive "stuff" for them to explore. Standing on the Earthquake Plate experience was interesting - especially if you are not holding on to something.
Car parking is expensive. Space Shuttle is awesome

Great Summer Activity

By Karla G |

We decided to go and spend an afternoon at the Science Center. A very interactive and nice experience would definitely come back and it is super appropriate for children.

Went for Endeavor

By BeachsideMartinis |

I've always wanted to see the space shuttle up close and have been meaning to swing by since it had moved to Los Angeles. It didn't disappoint. We had to reserve our time online which was easily done, but they weren't limiting entrance based on time. I would have liked to have seen the King Tut exhibit but was vetoed by my follow travelers. I loved the architecture of the building and the outside courtyard. Then we went to the back to see the rose gardens. While it was gated off, there was still a nice view from the Natural History Museum.

Free and fun

By Kathryn D |

We had time to kill before our flight so we went to the CSC. It was pretty good for a free venue and we managed to spend about three hours there. My kids are teenagers and can be pretty hard to please but they really seemed to enjoy the displays. Some things weren’t working but there was plenty to do. We didn’t pay extra to see the space shuttle and they also had the King Tut display that we didn’t see either. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re on a budget! Parking was $12.

Science centre

By UNR1806 |

This centre had 3 levels. Deserts, rocky terrains, polar regions, space shuttle, ocean life kelp zone, ecology etc. There is a separate room for family with kids. Children had a lot of interactive tools to handle, meddle and explore with.

Space Shuttle as a main magnet

By Thomasero |

We were attracted by possibility to see Space Shuttle mainly. Surprisingly there is lot of other things to do. As a result we spent there about 3 hours. We have left car at our DTLA accommodation and took metro from 7th Street/Metro Center
to Expo Park/USC station. Building of the Center is surrounded by well kept gardens as a bonus. Whole Center is definitely worth of visit while being in the DTLA.

Great science center for all ages

By Christine Chen |

Excellent visit to this science center! NASA Space Shuttle Endeavour exhibit is the best in my option but many other exhibits are very nice and educational. It is Free admission to all except the parking and if you want to see an IMAX show or special exhibit.

Another way to spend the day with your child/ren

By Karen O |

Nice place. Big. 3 floors. Gift store. Food court. We found that this museum is more geared toward older children to adults. We found enough to do with our 2 1/2 year old in the Discovey Centers but other than that it was a lot of interactive exhibits that he couldn’t do or understand. Quite a few of the exhibits weren’t working 🙁. The space shuttle Endeavour is there. Impressive. The admission to the museum is free or give a donation.

Av great day for family to share

By jerry k |

You gotta go! Your family must see the space shuttle, a sight most Americans have seen but on TV. You can be up close and personal with the U.S.A.s greatest achievement since Apollo 11. This vehicle has circled our earth manned by our astronauts hundreds if not thousands of times.. there are many educational displays and interactive things for children and adults.

Terrible bottleneck to exit out of parking lot at closing time.

By AjV |

The rating is for parking management. After center closes, everyone leave at the same time and the center has just exit with automated ticketing. This becomes a bottleneck. We were stuck in the parking lot for an hour, before getting out. This was a Thursday evening.

Center, of course, doesn’t care regarding the parking. They only charge $20/vehicle instead of admission fees.

Great Place for kids and teens

By Denise P |

Our son is very interested in technology and science. There is so much to offer at the California Science Center that you can spend all day experiencing it. We also watched an IMAX show,on the planets, and it was very informative. I highly recommend visiting this place with your family.

Fantastic and amazing

By Anita D |

Went here to see the Space Shuttle Endeavor which was awesome to see but there is so
Much more to see at the museum. It is an amazing and fantastic place. We will be back to the Natursl History museum and the rest of the things to see in more detail.

A true gem - don't miss this!

By ebarczak |

On a recent visit to LA for a conference we had some free time and decided to see the CA Science Center's King Tut exhibit. We spent much more time than we intended simply because the exhibit was stunning. It's honestly one of the best I've ever seen -- so informative and with a very good flow. Once we left the exhibit we saw the space shuttle Endeavour and enjoyed as much of the rest of the museum as we could before we had to leave.
The Science Center is definitely worth a visit -- plan to stay for a while because there really is a lot to see and do.

Wow...a real space shuttle!

By JMK |

Fantastic to see one of the Space Shuttles close up, and see how they go to toilet in space. Spent must of our time in the space area but considering this was free, you could easily spend most of the day here. Some exhibits are just to look at, but there were also interactive exhibits which will entertain and educate all ages.

Educational Films for the kids and The National History Museum is next door.

By andreanicu |

We have season passes to the National History Museum so we often. Start with a Movie at the Science Center which are mostly 45 minutes with reasonable popcorn and drink prices. Spend some time in the Science Center. The kids love the interactive exhibits there and the rock climbing wall( There is a fee). Then we walk through the rose garden take pictures and go to the National History Museum. Highly recommend for the entire family.

Worth going to see Space Shuttle Endeavour

By SinghUK |

It is free now to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour so worth going. It is full of children on school trips though

Fantastic day out for FREE

By Redwan100 |

Excellent centre to explore with hands on experience, amazing space shuttle exhibition and very knowledgable staff.

A bit dated

By Sharyn W |

We felt like were stepping back into the 80’s or 90’s. Unfortunately a lot of the interactive displays weren’t working, much to the frustration of our 5 year old. It was an okay way to spend a few hours, but I wouldn’t say it’s a ‘must do’ for an LA visit.

Endeavor Shuttle Exhibit Makes it Worthwhile

By DerekGittoes |

The Endeavor space shuttle exhibit is the prime attraction and the only reason to visit this museum if you're over the age of 10. That being said, the Endeavor exhibit is excellent and is definitely worth visiting if you have any interest in space exploration and the history of NASA.

Came to see the space shuttle

By PilotMichael_L |

What an amazing experience getting to see the space shuttle up close. It's free to get into the science center and only $3 to see the shuttle if you want to see it before 1pm. After 1pm it's free as well. Parking was $12 and it's a great place to visit.

Overrun By School Groups

By JCW703 |

Visited this place as a family with young kids. We arrived around 10:30am and the place was already overrun by school (and other) groups. They moved together, clogging up entryways and exhibits making the visit much less enjoyable.

Amazing!

By Hester J |

We had such a great time at the Science Center.
We specifically went to see the Endevour and it did not disappoint! Cannot wait to go back once it’s new home is finished.
Loads of other interesting things too for all ages
A definite must if you’re in LA

KING TUT WAS AMAZING!

By Danny P |

I'm so glad I got to see such an amazing part of history! I could not believe how well preserved everything was! Everything was beautiful, I'm still in awe of what the Egyptians were able to make thousands of years ago.

Easy with kids, self guided, mostly free

By fabell760 |

We took our grandkids here for a day. Parking is $15, entry is free. There’s a few activities that the kids were able to participate in that cost 2 or 3 bucks, but there’s plenty for them to see and touch without having to spend any money.
The Shuttle experience costs $3 per person, we didn’t do that. There’s a 3D theater with several different shows starting just about every 30 minutes. We didn’t see any of the 3D shows but they were only $5 per person.
There was plenty to do that kept them interested for several hours.
There’s several food options on site at a reasonable cost. We got lunch for 6 for under $50.
Outside on the back side is a huge rose Garden, good place to walk and let’s the kids stretch their legs. There were several food and trinket vendors outside, they didn’t bother anyone too much although when you walk through them their all shouting what they have to sell, I wish they weren’t allowed to do that, but they’re harmless.

Science at its best in Los Angeles

By Martin v |

This is the best of all Science related issues. From the Ocean to Space. Lots of interactive things for the kids of all ages. See the Space Shuttle although there is a fee for this. Plenty of parking. Gift shop for purchasing those usual trinkets. You will love the exhibits. Located in downtown L.A.

Wow!

By scherzod |

We visited the center to see the King Tut exhibition. It was superb! It was laid out well and all of the pieces were very easy to view from many angles. The scope of the exhibit is hard to explain, but I would recommend it to anyone. The space shuttle Endeavor was also on display in it's own area. It was amazing to see the shuttle suspended from the ceiling and imagining it flying through space. These two exhibits tired out my old body, but there were plenty of places to sit and rest and the center was very accessible for those who need it. Highly recommended.

Outstanding worth a visit

By Ryan K |

This place is awesome, it's free to enter and it has some good areas. I went to watch the space imax and took a visit to the endeavour... Which I was totally amazed with.... You have no excuse not to visit this.... And you can go next door to the history museum... Do it....

Free for the museum, cost for special exhibits

By joan632015 |

Interesting museum full of science-related exhibits. While the museum itself is free, the special exhibits and IMAX theater do cost extra. We visited during the King Tut exhibit and saw quite a selection of what archeologists found is his tomb. The items were beautifully displayed and information (in both English and Spanish) was given about Egyptian religious beliefs, King Tut, his wife, and their daily life. Very interesting and well done. Also included in our King Tut ticket was a visit to the Endeavor space shuttle display. The Endeavor and a fuel tank from the shuttle are actually on display here in the space section of the museum. Plans are to bring more of the shuttle to the museum as the space section is expanded. Lots of info about space travel and the various shuttles that were sent into space. Of particular interest was a shuttle toilet and a video of how the astronauts went to the bathroom. I always find it interesting how the everyday things we take for granted in life are changed in different situations. Well worth the visit.

Must do in LA

By Basman |

The fact that the STS Endeavour and Mercury, Gemini and Apollo capsules makes this a must do for technology enthusiasts. The interactive displays kept the kids entertained. The only criticism I can provide, however it still gets five stars is that because of the free entry, some of the interactive displays were off line awaiting to be fixed, which was not the case where at a venue such as the Exploratorium in SF (acknowledging that the Exploratorium’s budget would eclipse that of the CSC due to their high entry fees).
I was impressed with the quality of exhibits and it is a must do in LA.

Great Science Centre

By Alan G |

Spent most of the day in the centre, it was very interesting especially the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Space fan

By Ben G |

As a bit of a space nut - this was on my must do list and it did not disappoint! Spent much of my time just admiring the Space Shuttle Endeavour that is housed here. Loved it!

Loved the Endeavor

By Baxterthetravelguy |

This museum was far larger than I expected and we spent the day here. I loved seeing the Endeavor and it's journey to the museum (quite the event). As with every other museum several computerized interactive displays didn't work (they never do so maybe stop with the computers already). They did have some fun interactive stuff and I liked the tightwire bicycle. It's not scary at all, give it a try.

What a Blast to See the Endeavor!

By GalFromVenice |

Aside from having interactive exhibits that foster awareness of how ecosystems work, this museum houses the Endeavor, the space shuttle that traveled through space and then the streets of LA to be put on display in a giant hangar. It is immense and wondrous, as is the fuel tank on display that helped to launch it. Kids loved the hands-on displays, especially around seeing how a river's currents work. And the IMAX theater is a special treat all on its own. Did not get the highest possible rating because it could do with an overall update of exhibition space. Nonetheless, very worth a visit, not only but especially with children.

Great place, most amazing part is the real Space shuttle

By Lovegoodfoodgoodwine |

As long as they have the space shuttle Endeavour it.is really a must do. Great explanation on how astronauts are living up there.

I can't believe I waisted my time.

By Major-General |

A dull science museum who's edits made me think of two museums the top of my head who deserves a shuttle more.

To many people I couldn't see anything at the King Tut exhibit. Wild course museum and Los Angeles are two thinks t that never meet.

Go see the Space Shuttle

By Richard S |

My main interest in visiting the California Science Center was the space-related attractions. Three spacecraft - Mercury-Redstone 2, Gemini 11 and the Apollo-Soyuz Command Module - are grouped together close to the entrance escalator, along with a lot of interesting models of unmanned spacecraft. While it is free to enter the main building, I paid $3 to reserve a slot for seeing the Space Shuttle Endeavour. The exhibit includes various Space Shuttle items and a film of it being taken from LAX to the CSC, before you go see the Space Shuttle itself in a separate pavilion. It was a breathtaking thing to see, and a member of staff was kind enough to take a picture of me with it on my phone. I wasn't especially interested in the other exhibits, which were focussed on a younger audience.

Great day out

By chris e |

A great day out to find out about avaiation & space, looking forward to the space shuttle endeavour being on display in 2027.

Great free attraction for the kids.

By Chris Stansbury |

This place is great. Spent a few hours here during your time in LA and dont forget to see the Shutte Endavour. The overall rooms here at the CSC are great. The human body exhibit was really well designed and the structures area was brilliant for kids and adults alike.

Great Sconce Center

By Steve |

Absolutely beautiful new building and science Center. Part of the whole Exposition Center and Colosseum area near downtown. Great interactive exhibits for kids and families.

Wonderful Experience!

By Darby C |

My family and I spent nearly 4 hours here! It is absolutely free unless you went to partake in some of specialty experiences or watch an IMAX movie, but we did none of that and still thoroughly enjoyed our time. My kids are ages 7 and 10 and they were interested in just about every room. What a wonderful little gem in LA!

King Tut & Outer Space All in One Place

By Bill R |

Stopped over for a sightseeing visit especially to see the Tut exhibit. It was wonderfully displayed, pretty convenient to get to with stairs, escalators and elevators.

It was wonderful to see so many items on display. The Space Capsules were a special treat as I grew up in Titusville, Fl and saw so many of them launched.

The guides were very helpful in answering questions and pointing the way to things that you might have otherwise missed.

Excellent walk through history.

Endeavour

By TPAT75 |

It's "free" but if you want to see for example the space shuttle Endeavour you need to buy a ticket (and some of these special tickets are not even advertised anywhere, you just need to ask for them at the ticket counter). Worth a visit if you're visiting the Natural History Museum too and/or want to see a real space shuttle up close.

Dog show

By Romance2016 |

Imax is doing a fabulous movie on the training of rescue dogs as well as a hands on exhibit especially for kids regarding dogs.

Good visit to the museum. Also close to the Natural History museum

By Edmond L |

Very good museum with many exhibits that help to make science engaging and interesting for both kids and adults! Do try out the space shuttle rides. My toddler really enjoyed them.

Amazing!

By Louise K |

We started our day with a trip to the California Science Centre to see the space shuttle Endeavor. It was a surprisingly moving experience for me, and i was completely awestruck. As a teenager in the 80s, I watched the launches on tv with my dad, and i remember vividly hearing the news of the destruction of the Challenger. Despite the cold war thst raged at the time, it did feel like anything was possible back then, and the shuttles were a great example of that. Amazing - 20/10

Quite the endeavor!

By WanderingWoman75 |

My nephews (both 15) and I had a great time exploring the California Science Center. There are so many interactive exhibits for everyone to enjoy. And, of course, you see the Endeavor space shuttle!

We also purchased tickets for a 3-D IMAX movie (Under the See) as well as the Angkor exhibit, which showcases artifacts from Cambodia's lost city.

We had snack in the food court while waiting for our moving to start. The area is very clean and seating is plentiful.

Amazing center for children - our 4 year old is still playing Space Shuttles

By Ben T |

The highlight of the California Science Center is the Space Shuttle, it is really well presented. The video of how the Shuttle got to the museum was really interesting.

As well as this there was plenty else to do, a small aquarium, an excellent interactive area. Our children could have spent hours there if we had had time.

The museum is free, there is a small charge to reserve a time for the shuttle. The car park is huge and not too expensive.

Great for Kids, And adults that never grew up.

By Chuck R |

The best is that the space shuttle Endevour is on display. It's booster rocket is there too and will be on display in a copy years upright and attached.

It's really interesting to see how the toilet works in space.

You can take a ride in a training module, but my grandson is an inch too short of the required height. Maybe in the future we can try again.

I added an Endevour baseball cap to my travel collection.

They had a special display about dogs that was cool too. As with all else everything it is hands on and very teaching oriented.

Recommended for families with children of all ages.

Got my geek on

By Deborah S |

Really wanted to see the Endeavour, and wow did I ever. Up close and personal. It was amazing. Great displays and really helpful staff to tell you everything you ever wanted to know. The rest of the Center was great too!

King Tut

By Travel’n Matt |

Allot more than when I first saw the exhibit in the late 70s. After this exhibit there was so much other stuff to see here. Recommended stop for sure

I can't believe this venue is free!

By Jeannette H |

So many interesting exhibits to see. The parking structure is right next to the museum, so no long trek to the entrance. $20 to park, admission is free, the IMax movies are $9 each for adults and around $5 for children. The first level is a food court and souvenir shop. The exhibits are on the 2nd and 3rd floors. There's everything from space capsules to fetus stages to ecosystems to fear responses and so much more. The exhibits are for both kiddos and adults. Plan on spending 2-3 hours here-maybe more. They're renovating quite a few areas so that there will be even more to see. Plenty of restrooms available on each floor. There's escalators and elevators to easily navigate the whole building. We will definitely come back. This should be on everyone's itinerary when visiting the LA area!

What does king Tut and the space shuttle have in common?

By pdvjr2018 |

They are both on exhibit at the Los Angeles Science Center... Saw both and really enjoyed it. I was truely impressed with the skill and craftmanship shown on the pieces of art at the tut exhibit...the intricacy and beauty of these artifacts gives a tantalizing look into the daily lives of these ancients ...pharaoh and commoner alike...
On the exact opposite flip of the coin...seeing the actual space shuttle Endeavor was mind blowing , all the ingenuity it takes to send man and machine out into space...it was very cathartic for me to see how far we have come ...from the ancient world of mummies and pharaohs to the advances we have achieved in outer space...all together in one day. Entrance is free but you have to buy timed tickets if you want to see any of the iMax movies and the king tut exhibit. Arrive early to beat the crowds and don't forget to bring a camera.Parking is $12.00 and for you airplane fanatics, there is a real trainer A 12 blackbird mounted next to the parking structure..the gift shop was superbly stocked with all the toys, models, souvenirs, clothes a NASA fan would love to own. The King tut gift shop had a lot of investing and unique items for sale. The food court has surprisingly good food ( we had the beef tacos) ...if you still have time ,check out the natural science exhibits the center has to offer. You could easily spend most of the day here...it was a lot of fun...will be back....

Go there!

By marconoe |

If you are vaguely fascinated by space, you absolutely must come here... considering that it is also free to see the Shuttle Endeavour, you can't miss it!! The photos don't do it justice, the emotion is so much!!

Amazing place !

By lukeizm |

This was an amazing experience. The space shuttle fantastic. Space capsules were extra ordinary. Loved the exibitions.

Space Shuttle

By James J |

For a science museum I've seen better, but enjoyed learning about and seeing the space shuttle. The space shuttle imprssed me and spent most of my time around it so I cannot remember anything else about the the center.

Not enough time

By Aand3plus |

This place is a good place for kids to explore and have fun. We only had a few hours here and wish we had more to enjoy the activities. Hurricane activity, the girls said it was just like a windy day in Wellington. I loved seeing endeavour while the kids loved the eco activities. Shame we found this place at the end of our trip.

It's awesome and planning to get better

By PatCincinnati |

we went to see the Tut exhibit and the Endeavor. There is still time for Tut as it was extended until Jan 13 or so. Beautiful exhibit. A must see. The IMAX movies are great as well. The chance to see the Endeavor and the associated exhibits was a dream come true. The rest of the exposition park is fun to walk. We will come back as they finish the permanent shuttle exhibit and have other special exhibits.

There's a reason it's free

By Dean92802 |

Awful museum. It's seems dated, oddly laid out, and most exhibits don't work. It was so boring. Really needs an overhaul.

For the kids and your inner child might like it too!

By polishedblack |

We didn't know what to expect here, but it turned out to be a nice trip. It is for a younger crowd than the three of us, but we all found a little bit of fun and learned a few things. I would recommend this place for younger kids more than teens. We took some cool pictures and since it was free, we felt that it was a nice afternoon with the family overall.

Fun for kids and adults

By Partypoodle |

Freeway close, parking has a $10 charge and the special exhibits may have a small fee but most of the museum is free! There are plenty of hands-on exhibits for the kids and everything is explained at a level they can understand.

Don't miss the Space Shuttle out back, its fascinating.

IMAX and Space shuttle Awesome

By Susan D |

We attended the Under the Sea IMAX. So great. My granddaughter is a diver so she really enjoyed it. Since we were there we went to see a few exhibits and the Space Shuttle. I’ve seen it before but it’s still awesome to see.

The Space Shuttle!

By Marc M |

If for no other reason, go visit the Space Shuttle. There are also other space exhibits, including a Gemini capsule—you’ll be amazed by the low tech construction. But the real star is the Shuttle, suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition hanger. It’s awe inspiring. The exhibit includes many audio-visual treats, including a joyful documentary about the arrival of the shuttle through the streets of Los Angeles.

This is more for the little kids and not adults unless you see the imax or the Lego exhibit

By Michaelshoney |

The best thing that I liked was the extra show that had the Lego's in it. That was amazing and the artist was amazing with his creations! The Imax movie is worth it too. The exhibits were okay but I think maybe myself and my kids in their 20's were a little old to do the things. But it was okay for a day excursion.

Fabulous!

By profhanover |

We went to the Dog Exhibit. It was wonderful! Very hands on and getting to see dog demonstration teams was very exciting!

Endeavour

By ClanClark |

Visited for a private function, but incredible to see a nasa shuttle so up close. Wished I could have explored the rest of the centre. Marked a point down as the catering was cold.
