Great spots to picnic with the family or a group plus playground equipment. Take in a ballgame, fish at the lower park, feed the ducks, hike, or visit the old schoolhouse, Paul Bunyon lumbering exhibits, or the newly redone Chippewa Valley Museum.

Carson Park is a beautiful park filled with driving and walking trails that are great to get out into nature. The train is entertaining as well as Paul Bunyan's Logging Camp. It is clean and there are many picnicking area and lots of play areas for the kids.

good place to stop and relax as you are travel. good place to unwind also enjoy nature trails on a nice fall day.

It's very peaceful and quiet. I loved playing there when I visited family as a kid. Love the park too, it's great for kids.

Great place to take a walk with Fluffy or let the kids play and run off all that extra energy. A lake to hang out near and take a picnic, a place to fish, and a place to take in nature's beatuy. a Gem in the area for sure.

The ball park is historical. You can take in a baseball game in a quaint stadium or a football game with great seating. If you like local history, Paul Bunyon Park is excellent.

Fun place to just go and hang out. Easy to park and walk and see the sites. Great place to picnic, fish, and relax.

This is a wonderful small town park. Great for picnics . There is a wonderful fishing spot for handicap individuals that I use a lot. There is a significantly sized play area for children. There always seems to be someygoing on here whether it’s ball games or whatever. Has nice walking paved area that is used by many

Carson park has many different activities, from a ball park to museum and train rides. Activities that are available there are not available anywhere else.

It was very fun and amusing and the baseball players were very kind and caring they gave my son a ball and a bat a must vist..

Great park for families. Ride a train around park, take inn a baseball or football game. Great pavilions for treadmill picnics.

i found this little bluff years ago, & was delighted to return & find it just the same, with an updated playground on the "lower level". You can drive through the large parking lot & past the playground or take the road from either gate to get up to the peaceful, scenic drive that winds around the bluff.

Carson Park has so much to offer the whole family! They have a huge playground area for kids, there is the baseball and football stadium, tons of walking tails, picnic areas, and our favorite the train rides! Our kids go crazy for those little train and as parents it is fun to ride with them! The trains area only open on Sunday's Memorial day-Labor Day. We try to got at least once every year!

Huge park with a fancy new playground, lots of trees, open fields, the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp museum, the Chippewa Valley museum, an old school house and log cabin, a baseball stadium and football area, a picnic area, pretty river area trails, all surrounded by Half Moon lake on 3 sides. Great place for a picnic or a rest or for the kids to play.

It a very nice place to sit.take u children. Great place for birthday parties. Awesome place to hang out.

A must go place for an escape in the middle of the city. Clearly, this is Eau Claire's Central Park!
Enjoy a football game with an unbeatable atmosphere for tailgating.
See old time baseball where Hank Aaron got his start.
Ride the steam railroad on Sunday afternoons in summer.
Boating, fishing or hiking in a beautiful setting.

If you're there during the operating season, ya gotta ride the train. A nice little trip through the woods that will entertain both the kids, and adults. We rode the streamliner and then hopped aboard the steam train for a second trip! I know where this grandpa would be volunteering if he lived in Eau Claire!

Fun for everyone in the family! Awesome playground equipment, fishing, walking trails, Express Baseball and UW Football! Definitely a great place to spend your time.

Carson is a good Irish name -- appropriate for the many Irish loggers, for whom this location was a boom! The is a very good small museum in Carson Park, with both the park's social and natural history. The park today, is a rolling green urban forest, interspersed with many river vistas. The park is large enough to embrace tranquility and also a super minor league baseball stadium.
Again this park is a tribute to the visionary planning -- it is a green isle only about a mile from bustling downtown Eau Claire. Visit for an hour or a day -- just lovely!

Beautiful park! Drove through for a picnic, but ended up being too breezy. Ate in our car, overlooking the river. Quiet for a Saturday afternoon, but really peaceful. Recommend for a quiet walk or taking in an event.

Great place to take my active grandsons for a day of play. Love that it's self-contained so I don't have to worry about them running out into traffic. Fantastic playgrounds, walking paths, picnic areas plus the museum give us lots of options for our day.

Great place to bring the kids to play and relax. Wonderful place to enjoy nature in the city. Lots of parking space. Lots of different areas to explore or play.

We were in eau Claire for an appointment. This park is very pretty.
It has good biking and walking trails. There are large playground areas.
The trains were not open but looked like a nice little ride for the kids.
There is plenty of history on the site. Was fascinated to see the Hank Aaron statue and learn he played baseball at the park.
The logging museum was great. See that review. There were some other historical buildings as well.
The lake is pretty and wraps around the park. Being a city park it was quiet and full of birds and other small wildlife.
Cool fishing pier and a boat launch.
Overall this is a great well rounded park.

Great park!! Beautiful setting. Watch out for "hot lips" the foul ball man. I call him that tenderly because this elderly man kept trying to flirt with my friend...he's a permanent harmless fixture at the ballpark who retrives foul balls at the tender age of 76, and pays the kids a quarter if they get the ball 1st. If you have time between games, walk over to the Paul Bunyon camp or take a train ride on the nearby kiddie train (adults too) (Sundays and holidays only). Above average consessions - the walking tacos were a hit with my younger son. Plenty of free parking, but a bit of a walk to the seats for those with knee problems. Plenty of seating.

We happened to be in the park for the logging museum and decided to stop at the playground on the way out. It is a very nice area with lots of room between structures and the two long slides were fun. It made a nice break in our day. The views of the river/lake were a bonus.

Awesome park for picnic, game or just a walk. Large area for kids to play or to picnic. Very clean and scenic too!

We stumbled across this beautiful park with great places to relax and enjoy family time in the middle of college visits, space to spread out and many opportunities for varied activities. We explored some trails on foot, sat by the lake, watched kayakers and bikers and the joy of little kids fishing. There were softball games and other things, but there was more than enough room to spread out. Wish the museum would have been open; that looked like fun! This place is a treasure for the city of Eau Claire!

What a nice area that the city set aside for public use instead of building houses or businesses there. It is a pretty large place and even on an overcast day there where still many people there.

Carson Park is beautiful, serene and a great place to explore after a long day of diving! The trails offered a great photo experience.

liked all of it really liked all of it alot nice park go if you want it is a really nice park and I do not have 100 letters to talk about it

This park is fairly large and has many things available to do. We went to a college ball game (Northwoods League) and enjoyed ourselves very much.

The primary park in Eau Claire has numerous baseball fields (used for competitive use) and a football stadium (field is great, but the grandstands could use some TLC). Besides UWEC and the local high schools playing football in the fall, a semi-pro team plays in the summer. The main baseball stadium is historic, built in the 1930s and has been the temporary home to many future pro players since its inception. Currently, college-aged players participate in a Midwest summer league. The park also has a great museum and lumberjack camp. Eau Claire was the center of the lumber industry just over 100 years ago and this is showcased at both places. Numerous trails, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, and several picnic areas are within this semi-forested park. Carson Park is surrounded by an oxbow lake that is populated primarily with panfish and bass, and accessible with only with non-motorized watercraft. Although there is a small beach on the opposite side of the park, the water isn't the best for swimming. Carson Park is also the home for the annual fireworks display and numerous charity events. Don't forget to ride on the life-like miniature train throughout the summer.

Need out of your hotel? Come here and walk the trails. Be one with nature... It's great. great scenery with half moon lake.

The Playground was awesome! Paul Bunyan camp was nice too! Really enjoyed our time there. My grandson especially enjoyed the huge Tube Slides.

If you have kids, or go at a more active part of the year, this would be a good spot to see, as they apparently have baseball games and a horse show tournament. Also, if you can trailer bikes and/or canoes/kayaks, there are trails, a river and a bayou to explore.

This is a large park with various parts to it. Great for sports, walking, fishing, kayaking, cycling, picnics, and more! Dog friendly and plenty of parking. Well maintained, it's close enough to town yet quiet. There are two museums in the park, too. A really nice spot.

enjoy time at carson park always things to do, children are welcome as well as pat great swimming as well

Beautiful park but very few grills to have a nice cook out.
Nice play ground and wonderful scenery by the water.

Beautiful park , we'll kept up!
The baseball stands clean as well as the concessions!
We are blessed with such a beautiful park!

Carson park is large with quite a few places for kids and families. There are playgrounds, fun walking trails, fishing spots, a kiddie train, minor league baseball and other fun things to do!

I have loved this park for so many years. It has everything. Lots of space for walking, 2 museums, a kiddie train, great playgrounds and half moon lake. The Chippewa Valley Museum is a local history treasure. The Paul Bunyan Logging Camp is a seasonal museum but really helps one to understand the logging history of Eau Claire.

This is an amazing park! It has great trails, is surrounded by a river that is wonderful for kayaking, nice picnic areas, tons of shade trees, and in Eau Claire! A great place to walk for exercise or just to commune with nature. Don't miss this one!

My husband and I had our first date here. He proposed to me here. And we frequently walk the bike trail ending at Dairy Queen. It's a nice quiet walk.

Great place to take a walk. Beautiful scenery. Very nice play area for kids. Plus with the sports venue there is lots to do & see.

Here in the heart of Northwest Wisconsin is this delightful park including a ball park, football field, and playground all surround by Half Moon Lake. Pack a picnic and enjoy!

Carson is great. It gets really crowded whenever there's an event (festivals, baseball, football) but it's beautiful. It's wooded and big and has a great playground as well as pavilions, ball fields and fishing.

This all volunteer miniature railroad offers a 1/2 mile ride through the woods of Carson Park pulled by real coal burning steam and diesel style passenger locomotives. Coaches accommodate all ages. One may even see a deer crossing the tracks! Enjoy also the Paul Bunyan Camp and the Chippewa Valley Museum in the park.

Lots of stuff for kids to do. Paul Bunyon camp train engines swings slides. There were paths in the woods when I was a kid.

I grew up in Eau Claire, so I have spent a lot of time here over the years. They have baseball fields, with a semi pro team that plays all summer, there are horseshoe courts that my husband and family play tournaments at, many places to fish, playgrounds, Paul Bunyon Camp, picnic and reunion facilities, and this is also the home of the Buckshot Run for special olympics held each Labor Day weekend.

This public park--no entry fee--is outstanding and just updated. I actually visited it in November, when it was still undergoing an overhaul, and it's really outstanding now. There are all kinds of fun pieces of play equipment--zipline, slides, musical toys, a merry-go-round that is actually safe--as well as trails through the forest, plentiful picnic benches, and water on three sides. Great for any day when you don't have precipitation.

Plenty to do! Watch a football or baseball game, playground, picnic, or go fishing! And its in the center of town so everything is close by.

Average park, not much to do or see but nice to have in the Area. Can go fishing but watch out for the green water. Wish the rocket was back.

good for hiking, enjoying the out-of-doors! lots of trees to provide shade from the warm sun, plenty of open spaces to soak in the sun!

Great park with a lot of activities. If you looking for something as simple as a walk Carson has you covered. It has a great playground for my daughter, you can catch a baseball game and Halfmoon lake is not a bad little paddle for the kayaks.

Very scenic as well as very nicely maintained park along with baseball/football stadiums. I was here with friends watching the Predators play. Didn't expect such a nature friendly park right in the middle of Eau Claire.

Lots of trees were knocked down in a storm a month ago, but everything is up and running! Great park for softball, football or for a walk!

This park is a gem. There is even a little beach. You can walk, bike, visit a museum, take the kids to the playground, play tennis or attend a baseball game at the stadium. What a great park!

This jewel of a park is one of Eau Claire's best places to visit. Trails wind along the river and across a little railroad trail. The Chippewa Valley Museum is located here, as well as the city ballpark, a playground, and picnic shelters.

Wonderful old-time baseball grandstand for various local teams. Nearby top notch software diamonds. Football stadium used by high schools & UW-Eau Claire. Children's play areas with swings & slides & sand. Great walking under the pines & deciduous trees. Sit on benches, listen to birds, smell the forest, hear wind in the tree tops, look down upon Half Moon Lake. Multiple visits through the years. A jewel.

What can I say..beautiful all around the seasons. Running trails are great and used for part of EC Marathon and various other races. Beautiful reflections in surrounding Half Moon Bay. Picnic facilities..and large playground with fishing all seasons. The train ride they operate there thrills kids of all ages. Fireworks over the 4th with summer baseball games that delight. Perfect place for a relaxing stroll. Writing review from Mayo Hospital 4th floor with a killer view of park. Witnessed the Carson Park 5 & 10 mile run this AM. Wish I could have participated.

I love this park that has to much to offer. Multiple playgrounds, baseball fields, fishing g and bodies of water, as well as benches to over look water. Picnic tables and pavilions, gorgeous trees, restrooms, and much, much more. Such a pretty place to walk and drive through, especially in the fall!

Lots to do here. From canoeing and kayaking brains bay and half moon lake to the museum, the park, ball games, etc. It is quiet, maintained, and clean.

It is a huge park, with a lot of things to do. It has a playground for children with two big slides. a baseball field, tennis courts, you also can get on the lake waters with a canoe or kayak. In top of everything you can find here even a museum.

We love taking our Grandaughter to the park to play, they have all kinds of play equipment. I love the Festival in the pines. I have been to football games too! Just a great all around park!

Carson Park is a beautiful area to spend any time. We were there for a football game- loved it. The fans are great and the marching band is excellent. There are a lot of great trails around the park to explore. Loved all the fall colors. I would highly recommend visiting during a football game to get the whole experience- especially if the UWEC Marching Band is there!

This park has it all: fishing, hiking, biking, baseball, softball, football, tennis, horseshoes, playground, pavilions, and museums. Come check it out!

Lots of Fun. Paul Bunyon is always a great attraction. Spent alot of fun times up here as a kid. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Probably the most popular (and largest) park in Eau Claire. Several pavilions, paved walking paths, picnic areas, and beautiful. large trees. Located next to Half Moon Lake. Ball park included.

Carson Park has something for everyone of all ages and all seasons. We regularly visit for walking, running (safe roadways), sports, museum and grandkid activities(mini train rides) and fishing/kayaking in Half Moon lake. Close to downtown and on bus route.

Went for a nice walk here on a beautiful autumn day. Lots of trails and places to walk. Nice place for a picnic. There are also train rides on certain days apparently. There is a football field in the middle of the park and several large old oak trees and a nice playground area.

We go there to watch the Eau Claire Express baseball games.Always a good game and plenty of fun activities to entertain between innings. Also a very good deal at only $7 per ticket.
Plus, there is a museum and the Paul Bunyan logging camp that is very well upkept and quite interesting

Recently did the ECU Charity Classic 10k this Saturday & views were amazing of Half Moon Lake during the run. Yes, there are hills on the run, but you don't seem to notice during the run. The fragrance of the pines were amazing as I passed the ball field.

This park is a great place to go for a picnic, fishing, play on the playground, attend a baseball or football game, go to the Paul Bunyan Logging camp, or on Sunday afternoons in the summer take young or old to ride the miniature train or attend an event like Festival in the Pines or the USA Chainsaw Championship.

This is a big beautiful and great park to go to with friends and family. Especially in the summer, there's a lot of events going on and they started doing concerts there.

This is a great urban park. Surrounded by Half-Moon Lake, an oxbow lake, it almost feels as if you are on an island. Home to the Chippewa Valley Museum, Paul Bunyan Logging Museum, Chippewa Valley Railroad, the baseball field where the Cavaliers and Express play, the football stadium, softball fields, and tennis courts.
There is ample parking here. Great playground and picnic areas. Horseshoe pits. Cross country skiing in the winter.
A very peaceful place in the morning or during the week. It is pretty busy during sporting events and summer weekends. It's a free, public park.

Carson Park is an island very close to town. There are paved trails that would be easy for wheelchairs and strollers. ALso looked like a good playground for little ones. We prefer parks with natural trails and a greater connection to nature. ALthough the trees and surrounding water is nice, we were disappointed to see that the Island wasn't entirely park--it has a ball park and other buildings on it and with all the roads and paved trails, there wasn't much left natural.

Great event and a firework lasting for so long time. Lots of peiple and great atmosphere. Sports in focus but also the local community was very present.

Beautiful night for baseball!
Eau Claire express vs. Rochester Honkers.
Also for a mother daughter date!
We have such beautiful parks and areas throughout Eau Claire, but this is one of my favorite places. So many memories with family and friends!😍
Look forward to the Fourth of July down here with family and friends, starting at 10 in the morning til 12 at night!

A great place in the middle of the city ---walking, biking --a day at the museum with a great ice cream cone from the old fashioned ice cream parlor---a ride on the train every Sunday

Beautiful park setting with lots of options for all. Walking/hiking areas along a beautiful lake setting; large playground area with lots of swings, slides, and many more kid-friendly pieces; football and baseball stadiums/fields where UW-EC football and a semi-pro baseball team plays; tennis courts, fun for all. Mini-train rides look like fun during the summer months!

Walk, ride a bike, have a conversation, relax. Easy access, no cost, close to home. Breathe pine scented air. Watch the turtles :)

This is a beautiful little park located right on the river in Eau Claire. This park is well kept and well lit at night. Many people use it for running or walking. Seemed very safe.

Catch a baseball game, softball, football, you name it. There is a nice playground for kids, great picnic areas and it is a wonderful place for walking or jogging. We are so lucky to have such a nice park in our city.

Large park , plenty to do . A little tough to find if you are not familiar with the area , but worth the time to find it if you are looking for something outdoors to do or a place to picnic etc.

We drove from Rochester MN with a family of 5 to see an Express vs Rochester Honkers game. What a great place for baseball. The park was easy to get to, had lots of free parking, the tickets were inexpensive and the food and drink were down right cheap, but good. We sat in the left field bleachers. I could see the right field seats and special deck seating from our bleacher seats. I personally would avoid the right field line and outfield unless you wanted direct sunlight.

Carson Park is a good sports venue with plenty of seating. The parking lot will get extremely full, so the earlier you arrive, the better! The playground for kids is exceptional and one of the best parks in Eau Claire. There are some hiking trails for a quick nature stroll. Carson Park is one of Eau Claire’s gems.

The Express Baseball team plays here and it is a great place to bring the kids to watch a live sporting event! The game themselves are a blast and VERY kid friendly and there is tons to do in the park both before and after the games. You have to ride the train in the park at least once. There are also a couple of interesting museums in the park. And some wonderful playgrounds.

Love this park. Many things to do from taking in a baseball game to fishing. Having a family picnic or just a nature walk is wonderful here.

Beautiful setting, playground and walking trails...excellent. Baseball and football stadiums along with the parks museum are surrounded by Half Moon lake, fishing and boating are common sites.

Took the kids to play on the new playground and I don't know who had more fun the kids or the teenagers. Something for everyone there.

Really fun 1/4 scale railroad ride through the woods. The railroad has two real steam engines and one diesel. Kids and adults can ride in the cars. The crew all wear railroad clothes and made the whole experience fun for our whole family.

Visited during the day of fireworks and due to the number of people setting up for picnics it must be very popular for the fireworks show. We visited the large children's playground and had a hard time getting the kids to leave.

Carson Park is great; a huge area that has baseball games, walking trails, playgrounds galore, and tons of area for gatherings and picnicking. Easy to find and get into and get out of. Highly recommend for people who like being active and enjoy being outside. I'm excited for all the festivals they hold there, as well, but since I'm new to the Eau Claire area, I haven't been to one yet.

Fun place for the entire family! baseball, play area for little tikes, a history museum, train ride around the park, hiking, biking, picnicng and ya gotta visit the Paiul Bunyon camp

My kids love Carson. Fishing, walking, nice play grounds. Always some animal running around to watch. The ball park and museums are there too so you can make an entire day out of it!

It’s been a minute since we were on the Eau Claire Express Fan Deck...so we splurged with the fan deck upgrade of the high 4-top table. #fail. First of all, nobody on the fan deck actually wants to be there for the game. You can’t hear a thing over the socializing. Secondly, the people socializing stand in front of the high tops, so you can’t see. If they move, the setting sun doesn’t let you see either. Oh, the setting sun is epically HOT. The special menu was good, but not worth all the cons. If the high tops don’t sell out, anyone can sit there and have the fan deck food and drink. We ended up walking over to the general admission behind home plate where we could watch and hear the game in the comfort of the shade. #lessonLearned

Our 4 year old loves coming here. He keeps asking when we can go back again. Lots of stuff for kids of all ages! The train in the summer months is a blast for younger kids too! We also love going to baseball games here in the summer! The bathroom as could be a bit cleaner though!

Carson Park is a beautiful place to visit. If you want to drive through the park the trees are gorgeous. There are trails, museums, and playground equipment as well as the sports fields. Many entertaining festival-type activities are scheduled year-round. The fireworks are awesome and can be seen from outside the park as well as inside. The end of August there is a food and craft festival that offers free entertainment as well as great food and a variety of wonderful craft items. Small price for getting in, and bus stops around town to get to the park as vendors use the parking lot for stands and their own parking. There is a contest for those that carve items out of large tree chunks that will amaze you. Eau Claire has local semi-pro baseball and football teams that offer great games to attend. Hank Aaron got his start in Eau Claire and his bust is something you don't want to miss outside the ball park. A book has also been written about his life and highlights his time in Eau Claire. High school homecoming parades are held in the park. There are outdoor shelters for family gatherings and the playground has just been renovated. A new entrance has been added to the park and allows passage under it for boats and plenty of places for fishermen to enjoy at both entrances to the park. A huge Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox, welcome you into the museum area. Restrooms are also available. A wonderfully relaxing visit regardless of your age whether you stop to look around or just drive through. Just one of the many places you will see the pride Eau Claire puts into its community..

Situated in an Oxbow of a former river, this place offers a few hikes and a bit of elevation gain. There is also a small museum on the property as well as a playground and washrooms.

Historic Carson Park is a must see when visiting Eau Claire. Located in the center of the city, the park is nearly surrounded by Half Moon Lake.
The park offers something for everyone. From sports venues, kids play areas, and great picnic areas, it is a unique, terrific place for all ages.

Steps away from the bikepath near the Mayo Clinic is Carson Park. There's a small lake full of bass and panfish. There's a mini-beach. There are many places to post up a picnic and swat mosquitos while luring close the local wildlife.

The playground equipment was recently replaced and they turned it into a really incredible park. There are play pieces for all ages and even some that are handicap accessible.

Ive been going there since I was a toddler. Its so beautiful to look over half moon lake and the playgrounds are so much fun. It does get pretty busy in the summer though.

Carson Park had pretty trails and half-moon lake it was great to walk on. The only downfall is that it has some garbage that could be picked up, but not as bad as I have seen most park trails that I have visited.

This well established park has almost everything for a family to enjoy. It has a large playground, picnic areas- large and small with shelters. There are modern, well maintained restrooms through out the park. Sports are not left out if this park. There is a historic baseball stadium which is home to the EC Cavilers and Express. There is also a football stadium as well. If you're into frisbee/disc golf, they got you covered as well. The whole park is set in a wooded area that overlooks Half Moon lake and Braun's pond. In addition, the Chippewa Valley historic museum, is located within the park as well. There are walking and bike paths, nature points of interest. Carson Park hosts a variety of events year long.

We get Express baseball tickets, catch the game and then have a seat for the fireworks. There are a lot of activities throughout the day at the museums for families with younger children. And the train rides are fun.

There are MANY things to do in Carson Park... see a semi-pro baseball game, play tennis, badminton, basketball, canoe, kayak, take a nature hike, visit a railroad display, tour a historical museum, have a picnic, RELAX...
You name it, Carson Park has it... all in the heart of a major metropolitan area with 150,000 people...

If you are a history lover, this is a great place to visit. Loved the way it was decorated and the narratives at various points were fun to listen..

We like to grab a quick to-go lunch and find a shady place to park and eat. Our grandson really enjoyed the playground equipment areas when he was younger, now fishing is his favorite activity.

Carson Park is a gem in the city of Eau Claire. It has numerous sports venues as well as nice picnic areas and recreational areas for children.

They love the playground equipment and get to meet new kids, as well as burn off a lot of energy. We especially loved the train ride although it ended way too soon!

Attended the Walk Out of Darkness event. The park is very well cared for. Bathrooms are clean. Very large play structure available for children. Nice walking paths with other activities available. This would be a great spot for a break to a busy day.

My kids love the new playground. There is something for all ages from very young to tweens. It's very clean and well taken care of!

The park is extensive with a lot of wooded area. The museum is very informative and the ball park is a fun place to watch the Eau Claire Express baseball team play. Good family fun.

This is an excellent use of publicly owned property. There is something for every age group to enjoy. Little ones can play on the equipment while mom and dad are nearby.
Walks around the perimeter of the park allow for viewing some scenic beauty within biking distance to the urban areas.

I only went to the softball field and didn't see much more, but the place is beautiful and has a lot of picnic areas. It's surrounded by water and fishing is allowed.

On a girlfriends' weekend, we spent our last afternoon together at this park just walking the trails and chatting. It was quiet and scenic, perfect for conversation. The history and the amenities looked great for families and kids alike. I would definitely go back again!

The Carson family, one of Eau Claire's logging pioneers, donated this "island" (mostly surrounded by Half Moon Lake) to the city, with the covenant that it not be used for commercial space, other than the stadiums for Baseball and Football. The result is one of the most beautiful setting for those sports, plus Softball, Tennis, Horseshoe, etc. The Chippewa Valley and Paul Bunyan museums are also huge attractions, and the quiet internal roads are ideal for hikers and joggers.

Fishing, picnicking, biking, taking in a baseball or football game, lots of events, playgrounds etc. All right in town. Toss in the little train rides and you've got an place to take the whole family without spending much money at all.

We visited Carson Park for a Northwoods League baseball game- it was a great visit! The park is clean, well kept and open to the public. Whether you want to fish, watch a game, explore local history, or just have sit for lunch, Carson Park is a great local park.

The largest park in Eau Claire it offers a wide range of things to do. But Nature is its own reward. Enjoy the Eau Claire Express baseball games, check out the Chippewa Valley museum, trains and Pall Bunyan Camp. Over all a great destination for outdoor fun.

The train ride in Carson Park is a perfect setting through the many pine trees and wild life setting. This is a small scale size train that is fitting for children and adults. The office station where you purchase your tickets brings you back in time with original highlights of the past. Available are well preserved post cards etc. All the staff are volunteers running the facility. Opens Memorial day each year and closes Labor day .

Where do I begin? Carson Park has something of interest to everyone from the historic baseball stadium, where Hank Aaron began his legendary baseball career with the Eau Claire Bears, to the Logging Museum, the Chippewa Valley Museum, the mini train ride, the playground and picnic grounds and finally the walking/ driving/ biking path which surrounds the park. Carson Park is surrounded by Half Moon Lake. One of the two lower sections, Braun's Bay, is great for birdwatching, fishing and to launch boats-either non-motorized or those with motors. The second lower section has a picnic area and small playground. The upper portion of Carson Park has the baseball stadium, a football stadium, tennis courts, museums, a large, updated playground, many picnic areas and pavilions, roads and trails to walk. Carson Park is home to the Eau Claire Express and the Eau Claire Cavaliers baseball team and the Eau Claire Crush football team. There are various events held at Carson Park throughout the year such as the international chainsaw competition where chainsaw artists sculpture their creations which are later auctioned to the public. I live in Eau Claire and love going to Carson Park, either by myself or with my family and friends.

This park is such a nice area to visit. It has something for everyone! I have done many fun runs here and my grandkids love the playground!

So much history in just the stadium alone. Worth checking out the history of this park. There is a lot available for various tastes, whether it be in the athletic facilities, the family-gathering places, the natural features, the museum, the walking trails, the playgrounds. A wonderful location for locals and for visitors to the area.

Is it probably one of the best things to do if you don't want to spend money on a zoo. We saw a lot of animals and loved that we could drive around to see the zoo since it's very large. We come back again and bring the family.

Carson Park is full of opportunities.....park, running, riding bikes, trails, picnics and my grandchildren's favorite activity...riding a train (the train was for a small fee)! Beautiful! And all in the middle of the city.

Loved the logging camp and the scenery. Museums are excellent and worth the admission. Plan an afternoon the see both museums.

Largest park in the city. Good fishing, two playgrounds, nice museum with ice cream parlor, Football and Baseball fields, and train rides in the summer. Lots of wonderful spots for picnics as well. The park can be quite busy during the summer.

A great venue for drum corps. Not a bad seat anywhere. The grounds were neatly kept and the bathrooms were clean.

We were at Carson Park recently for a UW Eau Claire Football game. Although the game did not turn out as we hoped, the stadium was a pleasant surprise. The parking lot provided ample parking with plenty of room for tailgating and pre-game fun. This stadium had one of the best announcer sound systems I've ever heard. Everything was crystal clear with no echoes! The seating was plentiful and the bleachers are close enough to the field that you really fell part of the action. Next time we visit, we will check out the park grounds.

We held a family reunion at this park and it was great, lots of attractions and activities and great shelters and restrooms for being a county park. Thanks Eau Claire for sharing this gem with us. See you in two years.

Lots of strolling potential - marsh, pond, wooded, and all accessible by car, bike or foot. A lovely baseball/football venue. A local museum (with a genuine vintage soda fountain, yes please!) And a cool small-gauge railroad, operated by enthusiastic afficionados, in the warmer months. Playgrounds and picnic areas. All delightful.

What's not to love about Carson Park? You can go to the beach, kayak or canoe, run the trails, hang a hammock with a water view, and catch a baseball game.

This park is awesome! Carson Park is where I spent a lot of my youth, as its in my hometown. I took my parents for a drive through it while home visiting. It’s a fairly massive park, and has lake access in multiple places onto Half Moon Lake, which has a nice beach. People fish all over the place. There are lots of ducks that you can bring a bag of bread to feed. There are multiple playgrounds, picnic areas, grills, and pavilions spread out all over. Lots of greenery throughout the roads which makes it a pretty place to walk or drive through. There is a baseball field that hosted two pro teams- the Bears and the Braves- and Hank Aaron, who broke Babe Ruth’s record for home runs was on one of those teams. There is a statute in front of the stadium honoring him. There is also a little museum featuring Paul Bunyan and Babe, his big blue ox. Horseshoe tournaments are also held here, including the World tournament which was hosted here around 2003. This is a beautiful park with lots to do, and I highly recommend a visit! As a bonus, there is a Dairy Queen at one of the entrances, which is great!

Carson Park sits like an island, surrounded on 3 sides by the calm waters of Half Moon Lake. With Cathedral-like tall pines, and a road that meanders around and through the woodland park, leading to the Chippewa Valley Museum, Paul Bunyan and the Lumber Museum, The Chippewa Valley Railway (a scale model with cars the whole family can ride) Horse Shoe Pits, a huge, accessible children's play area and Picnic Pavillions, there's something for everyone. Top that off with superbly maintained athletic football, baseball and softball fields, used by the the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, as well as all the local High School teams, along with the Local Cavalier's Baseball Team and you've got a really great place to visit. The Cherry on top, is the cut sandstone baseball facility. With the woods surrounding portions of it, this charming spot is the place where baseball great Hank Aaron got his start, and it's architecture harkens back to that time, while at the same time, it's modernized to accommodate the fans of the summer Northwood's league of premium college players from around the USA, making up the team "Eau Claire Express". If you come to a game, along with watching the Osprey's, who nest on top of one of the big lights between the football and baseball fields, you can buy tickets and hang out on the fan deck, or buy a ticket for premium or bleacher seats. The food and beverage options abound, the between-innings fun for the family entertainment, and the Friday night fireworks are literally a blast. Once in a while, a baseball scout will show up to watch one of the college stand-outs, and that's fun too. With all of this packed into one park, you would think it would feel overcrowded somehow, but that is simply not the case. As the roads through the park meander, there are sections where woods close off views into the park, while you can see out over the open water, or stop and enjoy fishing by a marsh area, or off the new, accessible fishing spots off the entrance causeway. Athletes use the park for walking, running and biking in the summer, and portions of road are closed off for cross country skiing in the winter. Like most of Eau Claire, you can bike or drive out into the beautiful rolling countryside in minutes, or get in a canoe or kayak and enjoy the city and park from the water. I have loved this park since I came to Eau Claire as a student, and biked through it often (before we had bike trails throughout the city) and I often drive through it just to enjoy the calming scenery. Carson Park is a perfect gem set into the center of a small city with a lot to offer.

Very nice ball park. Concession prices are ridiculous though. Carson park is a pretty nice park. The walking trails are nice and the park is generally clean. The facilities are in good shape also. Watching a game at the baseball field is a great night with family. Just eat first...

we just had time for a quick visit and picnic. we had a meal at a table near the very large and safe playground. the grandkids just loved the whole experience. very picturesque in some areas and mostly quiet in some areas as well.

This is a beautiful setting for many reasons. The Park is surrounded by Half Moon Lake (an old ox-bow lake). There are two entrance ways; one from Menomonie Street (By the Dairy Queen) and heading west on Lake Street. There are a variety of attractions here, maybe too many to reveal in this review, even though the park itself is not that big. (Maybe 140 acres.) There is one historic baseball stadium (Hank Aaron used to play here.), two softball fields and a football stadium where three of the high schools play and so does UW-Eau Claire. There are picnic areas, pavilions (that one can reserve), play areas for children, horse shoe pits, tennis courts, a small beach, walkways/paths that will whisk you away from your daily tasks., etc. There are some historical venues; Chippewa Valley Museum and Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum. There is even a miniature train ride (seasonal). You might even run across some deer feeding in the park. At any given point during the day you may witness; joggers, walkers, kayakers, people fishing, families, festivals, etc. in this lovely location. This is a marvelous place to relax!

Carson Park is located on Half Moon Lake which is very pretty. Many people fish here and lots of different kinds of waterfowl frequently visit. My biggest complaint about the park is that all the trails are paved and large enough to drive on. I prefer trails that are narrow, unpaved, and travel through the woods or grassland. To me this give me a more in-touch with nature feel. This park is friendly for families with young children because it has a playground, museum, and small train.

If you love baseball, football, walking and riding trails, or even a lumberjack museum, this is the place for you! Definitely worth the trip!

We went to Carson park to see my daughter play softball. I was very impressed how beautiful this park was. Both baseball and softball diamonds were beautiful. There was a nice playground, lots of picnic tables. We didn't visit the logging camp or museum but it looked well maintained and interesting. We enjoyed the limestone bluffs and sitting by the river.

There's so much to see and do at Carson Park--and a person can choose from indoor or outdoor activities, or solo or group activities! The Chippewa Valley Museum is awesome, and so is the lumberjack museum--fun for both kids and adults. Catch a ball game at the Stadium, or have a picnic at one of the MANY shelters or small playgrounds. There are trails to walk your dog, bike paths to ride, and tons of areas to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. Rent a canoe and paddle around Half-Moon Lake--or try your luck at fishing. Hooray for Carson Park! A really special place in a beautiful city.

When we visit grandparents they always love to grab some fried chicken and take us for a picnic at Carson park. The playground is huge and they have some unique tube slides. It's also very pretty and great for family photos.

My daughter and I went here and had a wonderful time last summer. Great for all ages

My wife and I really liked Carson Park. It is surrounded by Half Moon Lake which really is just an old flume from Eau Claire's logging days that was dammed up or cut off back in the day when logging slowed to a halt. Now there is nice access to launch canoes & kayaks. You can fish and the park has some nice spots to look out over the lake. There are some real high spots too you can park, have a picnic an see the water below. Personally I got a little week kneed in a couple spots looking down, sort of the don't slip or your a goner feeling. I would watch my kids like a hawk in those particular spots. You don't want them running and slipping not knowing there are some steeper, potentially fatal drops in those spots. There is a Chippewa Valley Railroad, smaller scale train ride for children & parents too, looked like fun. We enjoyed our visit to The Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum & Chippewa Valley Museum. Great if your a history buff or just want to learn more about the region.

Has a horseshoe area, a museum, a train area, and lots of athletic fields for people to play! The tennis courts could use some maintenance, but overall this is one of the better city parks in Wisconsin.

Beautiful scenery on our walk thru the park playground for all ages ball fields trails pond clean restrooms also a very nice place to have some family fun

We visited this park two years ago and thought it was loads of fun; however, the new equipment added makes this park more fun than ever.

This is a scenic park that includes a working small guage railroad, a logging museum and a history museum. The train runs on Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Carson Park is a beautiful, well kept park. Nice venues for watching a baseball or football game. Carson also hosts Festival in the Pines which is a really cool event.

Great Evening for:
Great Brats and Nachos!
Great First Place Baseball Team!
GO EAU CLAIRE EXPRESS🚂
Great Win!
Ahhh....Carson Park a MUST VISIT !!!!

Home town park. Great history, great museum. Train rides for kids. Watching baseball or football is so much fun. Express or Cavaliers for baseball. Predators or Crush for football. Or there are many other events like sawdust city days.

We took a "road trip" vacation this year and as we neared the Eau Claire region I got on Trip Advisor looking for something to do. Carson Park was rated as the number one attraction in the area and I whole heartedly agree. No matter what you have in mind from a picnic, a museum visit, a hike, a water activity or just a leisurely drive this park is the answer. The only problem we had with our visit is that the address listed on Trip Advisor was incorrect and we ended up in an industrial park. We came upon a sign showing the way to the park as we backtracked our route and thus was able to find and enjoy it.

Huge park with the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp museum, the Chippewa Valley museum, old school house and log cabin, a baseball stadium and football area, a picnic area, pretty river area trails, and playgrounds.

Great place for a picnic, take in a baseball game (summer), play softball, watch high school and college football, two great museums - always something going on in Carson Park.

Lovely spot for a nice stroll, a family picnic, or a sporting activity.

We rode through the park on the biking trails. They were will-maintained. Lots of shade trees and active people of all ages.

If you are in the area and enjoy baseball, Carson Park knows how to treat you. Catching an Express game is a great time in the summer. Food and drinks value will not break your wallet.

What a great community park. Football, Baseball (Hank Aaron played here), 4th of July fireworks, train rides in the summer, logging camp as well as the Chippewa Valley Museum. Check with the Visitors Bureau for a full list of activities. And how about a nice picnic in the pines overlooking half moon lake.

Carson Park is a wonderful place to visit. It has playgrounds, ball fields, historic displays, walking/jogging trails, water. All this is right in Eau Claire!

We just drove through the park but it looked like a very nice park. There were several areas for different activities- even horseshoes. It was a nice relaxing drive

Enjoyed an afternoon with a toddler. There is quite a variety of toys for children of all ages...and more than one dad felt it necessary to take their little ones down the "big" tube slides. I'm almost convinced the kids enjoyed it as much as they did!

They renovated the park this year and the new playground equipment is so interesting and fun that parents can be found playing alongside their kids on the jungle gyms. Big trees, lots of picnic spots, access to the bike trails, and the well-attended ball fields ensure that this park has lots of traffic- but it has never felt too crowded. On Sunday afternoons in the summer, the little steam engine can be ridden for a couple dollars- its a fun sweet little ride for train lovers!

Awesome atmosphere at the quaint ballpark! Lots of things going on for kids, families, groups or even solo (killing some time on a business trip!)

We were looking for an easy activity for kids and were excited to take selfies by the giant Paul Bunyan and Babe statues. There's plenty of room to walk and play here. Warning: the giant tube slides smelled like human waste. Slide at your own risk!

Fun place to tail gate; But the music is way too loud. Clean rest rooms, and the dairy queen is just as you enter.

Great place to visit, hike, play or find solitude. We like to kayak Half Moon, go see an Express game, picnic.

Fishing, biking, roller blading, children's play ground equipment, feed the ducks, museums and Paul Bunyan.

Nice play areas for kids, there is a baseball field where the Eau Claire Express plays which is a fun and inexpensive event during the summer if you're looking for something to do.

My son and I went for thee out of the darkness suicide prevention walk. Was a nice gathering. The playground had made an upgrade to new equipment. He had a blast on the stuff. Decent sized park.

Carson is the place for fishing, football, baseball, softball, and the ice rink is across the street. Of course, there are playgrounds and picnic areas but also visit the Chippewa Valley Museum and the Paul Bunyon displays. Lots to see and do even if no special events are in progress like narrow track train rides or craft fairs.

I grew up here in EC from 5th grade in 1995. I remember the big steel rocket ship before they took it away. While it is still a great place to take a break during the work day, go to sports event, watch the 4th of July fireworks, and have marathon events go through...it seems like more and more attention (as well as "ownership") is being drawn elsewhere. Sadly, this means that as fewer events are held at Carson and less is done to motivate people to go to this wonderful park, the less need there is for it. I do hope that it remains far into the future and is not privatized or ONLY used for certain events. Keep it a public park and encourage the public's use and support of it!

Carson Park is a historical park in the Chippewa Valley. Filled with age old trees, Half Moon Lake, Train Rides, Fabulous Playground, Huge Picnic Areas, Minor League Baseball Field, Hank Aaron Bust, Football and Softball Fields, Paul Bunyan Camp, Chippewa Valley Museum, Horse Shoe Area and much more.
It is often the site of many Community Races/Runs/Festival in the Pines, etc. There is always something big going on at Carson Park on the weekends.

Very relaxing place.
It's been around forever, so the trees are tall and give NICE shade. Not crowded at all because it is a larger park. Plenty of quiet and peaceful areas.
This is where you can hear a tree branch snap in the wind. Love it.
It's not the most modern place, so only reason we didn't give it a 5 star rating.

Nice quiet and beautiful place to go for walk of picnic with family. There were other activities going on but they were no interest to my family and I.

The largest of the public parks in Eau Claire. Has a great children's play area, redesigned and installed in 2018 not far from the baseball stadium. Several picnic pavilions that can be used if not reserved. Also home to the Chippewa Valley Museum and kid's sized railroad1

grandson had an excellent time and will do it again too. Everyone there was very hepfull and polite.

Located not too far from the downtown area. Picnic areas and seasonal mini-train rides. They always have events going on during the summer so plan ahead. Lots of hills so walking may be a challenge in some areas. Great for a bike ride.

Whether I'm with my granddaughter or walking, this is a beautiful park. The playground is large enough to accommodate many kids without crowding. In addition, the Braun's Bay fishing area is great, but PLEASE don't feed the Canadian geese; They can be overwhelming with a small person.

Old Northwoods League (Summer College Wood Bat League) park with great history, stonework and BEST concessions variety in entire Northwoods League.
Not to be missed the season runs from Memorial Day - Mid August.
D1, and high end d2 players make up rosters. Second to Cape Cod League in terms of talent but #1 in League Attendance (NW league).
See a game in Madison and LaCrosse the two most successful teams.

Many things to do and see. Nice play ground, train to ride, Paul Bunyan camp museum. Great location and scenery.

Carson Park is a gem in the middle of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, surrounded by Half Moon Lake. It offers scenic picnic areas, playground equipment, and hiking, biking, and running trails. It is also home to an historic baseball stadium built by President Roosevelt's New Deal which saw the likes of Billy Bruton, Wes Covington, and Joe Torre perform here. In addition, baseball's true home run king, Hank Aaron, spent his first season in professional baseball here, and the plaza outside the stadium remembers Hammering' Hank with a bust dedicated in his honor. On summer Sundays and holidays, a replica steam engine recalls Eau Claire's railroad history and provides young and old alike with an enjoyable ride through the park. The park is also home to two excellent mueseums dedicated to local history. The Chippewa Valley Museum provides a glimpse of local and area history with many informative exhibits and an old fashioned ice cream parlor. The Paul Bunyan Lumber Camp Museum pays tribute to the logging history of the area with an 1890's replica of a logging camp. Both are high quality small museums and provide an interesting and informative look at the history of this area.

This is a nice park, nothing spectacular, just a good neighborhood green space. Leashed dog friendly and can find spots to fish from shore.

Beautiful serene and a great drive thru. Several museums are in the park also, however we did not have time to see them but will next time.

the museums are great and perfect place to picnic...also an old fashion ice cream shop in the museum...always something going on there

I've been coming to this park since I was a baby. This is a nice, big park. There is a great playground for kids, and trails to walk. The baseball field out there is worth a look. You can also find the Chippewa Valley Museum tucked away in the park, complete with Paul Bunyan Logging Camp. If you go during the summer you can take a miniature train ride. There are also several pavilions you can rent.

A visit to Carson Park, here in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is a most pleasant attraction to experience especially if you visit on a really pleasant late summer or an early autumn afternoon. Within Carson Park are several other attractions that you can visit as you enjoy the park. The Paul Bunyan Logging Camp and the Chippewa Valley Museum are two such attractions. We even got to see a little Friday Night High School football at the Carson Park Stadium.

Great place to spend the afternoon with family and friends. Activities for kids. Well maintained. Highly recommended!

The train in Carson Park was not in use when we were there in mid Oct. It was closed for the season.
But, the trees was gorgeous, it was peak for colors. And, the exhibits were still open for viewing. They were so
interesting, and informative. We loved the experience.

Nice walking paths, children's play area, ballparks, river nearby. Trees for shade to keep cool. Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum is very interesting place to visit and larn some history.

This is a nice relaxing park, with lots of walking trails, and lots of parking, fishing spots, places to cook out, nice and quiet, and places for kids to play

Bring the kids and enjoy the beautiful Carson Park. There is a play area, a museum, and two ball fields to enjoy watching sporting events. Come here early on July 4, watch the Eau Claire Express, and stay for the fireworks.

This train is a great experience. It travels slowly through the woods and allows fairly comfortable seating for parents, too. Sit close to the front and watch the conductor feed the engine with coal to make it go. Wish they sold souvenirs.

So much goes on in Carson Park. There are the Express baseball games, other baseball fields for churches and other teams to play on, fishing, several picnic locations, playground equipment, the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum as well as the Chippewa Valley Museum, Places to walk, interesting trees which are labeled with it's species, 4th of July events, and much, much more. Drive around the park, then get out and explore!

We have been here several times biking or catching a ball game.
Nice place. Traffic getting out can be difficult at times.

Went to Woodbat game and stopped next day to go on trains with daughter. Game was great and fun atmosphere

My Sister and I took mom up north for a visit. Mom, 93, grew up in the area and we stopped in at the museum and had a great time exploring Eau Claire's history (or mom's life.) They have a 1950's Ice cream parlor that they opened up just for us. We all got Sundaes. Mom loved it. Talk about Service... You guys Rock

Lots of things for kids--two great kids museums, playgrounds, trails. We were sorry the train rides weren't running. In peak summer they should run them every day.

We visited for a picnic lunch and let the kids burn off some energy on the playground before visiting the Paul Bunyan logging museum. Our children are not yet in school, so they liked the playground more than the museum. Beautiful views of the river and we even saw deer. Whoever designed the bathrooms by the playground we're thinking! Stalls are big enough to bring a stroller in if a parent has to go or a family with several children have to make a potty break.

this is a great park for picnics, fun, family, kids, hiking, baseball, football, you name it, this park has it. So much 3/4 of the year to do here!

Carson Park has a mini-train that is safe and fun for little kids. A local club volunteers on the weekend to provide train rides. A fun family event.
Beautiful stadium in Eau Claire, WI. Very kid friendly atmosphere and inexpensive way to entertain the family. College players from all over the country playing a pro style game with wooden bats. Northwoods league baseball at its finest.
