Nice beach, free parking, lifeguard, restrooms, showers, picnic area. Good family beach without party crowd. Boardwalk and pavilion.

When people give a one star review about a place that's by the beach with a nice boardwalk a bathroom and FREE PARKING! They should stop going on vacation or just stay home. Cherie down has been and will be a great place to park and go to the beach it has an active Pokémon gym there also for the kids a decent pavilion and if the water for washing your feet or hands off is down, I did mention they have a bathroom right 👍🏾. Have a great time and stay positive. 1 star reviews are literally for issues like fasle statements and bad customer service. So many people go to cherry down and kids break things be a little forgiving of others and enjoy your day here.

Our waitress at Pavarottis Pizza on 4/4/16 told us about this park/beach, with free parking, bathrooms, and a vending machine. The cruise ships leave a mile up the beach if you want to walk to the jetty, and maybe spot pelicans, dolphins, or manatee. We loved it, celebrating our final day in Florida after a cruise. Very nice swimming conditions, too.

I always have a good time on this beach. Free easy parking. Public facilities. Picnic area and showers. Life guard.

Free admission, free parking. Small wooden boardwalk and beach crossovers. Outdoor showers. Real, indoor restrooms. Grassy picnic and play area. Covered picnic tables. Palm trees, sea grape trees, sea oats on the dunes. Clean, sandy beach with gentle slope and shallow water. Fishing, surfing, and alcohol allowed -- no glass. No dogs.

We are staying a few blocks away and are happy this little park on the beach is here. Only problem is they are doing renovation and there is big equipment close by and part of the beach is closed. Was told it's been going for a couple weeks now. The sand is nice, but not like the gulf coast white sand. There are a few shells. Neat thing to do is watch the cruise ships leave around 4pm.

The best thing here is free parking
Nice beach with a lifeguard
Picnic area and toilets are an added feature

Good entrance to the beach, park is not too big, nice & relaxed, you can watch cruise ships coming/going from C. Canaveral port.

Cherie Down Beach is located in Cape Canaveral and has 2 wooden walkovers to the beach. It has bathrooms for changing and use as well as outside showers to rinse the sand off. There are a couple of decent picnic areas and grills for use. The beach is wide and flat and well kept and great for kids to play in the sand. Not as commercial as many of the other places closer to Cocoa Beach. There is also a lifeguard which is great! The water is also pretty shallow for a while which also makes it nice for smaller children. Parking area is not very large and definitely fills up since it is a popular location but is free. Also, as always, be mindful of rip-currents.

We used to go there all the time. But it seems the Orlando crowd-- lower middle class and smokers-- have discovered it. I will not sit down-wind of a smoker. Bathrooms are hideous. I mean, really, really bad.

Great beach, clean bathroom, free parking, alcohol ok but no glass, mostly families, good surfing and safe. Fishing allowed outside the lifeguard area.
.

It has a beautiful beach access! A couple of covered gazebos, bathrooms, even a small pavilion that can be rented for parties!

This park has rest rooms and free parking. If you’re going for a beach walk, check the paper on look online and go when the tide is low for the best, widest, flattest beach. But this beach is less crowded and better than the ones down near the Pier. No place to buy food though, maybe that’s why so many go pay to park in Cocoa Beach.

Free parking but fills up fast on the weekend. Cops will give tickets if you park illegally.... so don't. Nice bathrooms, picnic tables, shower outside, gazebo with a walkway to the beach. The beach is spectacular. To the South is the Cocoa Beach Pier and to the North is Jetty Park. Around 4pm the cruise ships will depart from the Port and it really is something to see.

Great place to hit the beach. Free parking. Fairly clean restrooms and access to showers to wash the sand off your body and feet. Get there early or later in the day or there will be no place to park. No time limit on how long you can park so you can stay all day. Park does close at sundown

Used park/beach to watch rocket from Canaveral. showers available to wash off sand.parking & not much else.

When we come to Florida this beach is always on the stop list. We drive from Orlando just to do this beach. They do a good job of keeping the place clean.

Wonderful family beach with bathrooms, showers, picnic tables and a life guard. HOWEVER, parking is free and limited, so GET HERE EARLY!! People get wildly aggressive about claiming and waiting for a parking spot after about 10 a.m. Fortunately my family and I live merely a mile from the park, so we usually bike/walk there if we get a late start to our own beach day.

Awesome location to park and gain access to the beach. Get here early to get good parking! Access to the beach is super easy.

nice beach and isnt over crowded, and the water is beautiful, not as many big shells this way like in melbourne

It’s free and it’s delightful and what can I say it’s on the ocean.
Parking is also free.
Great place for family kids friends and the whole lot.
Bring your sunscreen

The beach was nice and there are bathrooms at the parking lot. As for parking it can be quite difficult to get on a busy weekend. You can park on some of the streets before lot so if you see something take it!

small, clean, not crazy packed with people, but it was mid week and school was back in. cool to watch cruise ships come in and a submarine too!

This is a free parking lot with public access to the beach. It is located right across the street from a school. It is one of the last areas along this road to park for free, as the road dead ends and continues on into private condos and a hotel. This is a great area to come to around 4-5pm and watch the cruise ships head out. There is a picnic shelter area with tables and there is a shower head to wash off sand, restrooms and a soda vending machine. There is a gate that closes at dusk. It is a nice walk in the sand, along the water, from here down to Jetty Park (maybe 30 mins at a slow pace) if you want to skip the fee to drive into Jetty Park. The only better place to watch the cruise ships leave, with free parking, is at the fishing pier, but most of these spots are reserved for vehicles with boats/trailers.

This is a great place to go for public beach access. It was clean and not to populated. Parking was free and ample. Public restrooms need some help though.

This is more of a beach than a park but it is well maintained and easy to get to. There is free parking (a rare thing in Cape Canaveral) but get there in the morning or you will be out of luck . There are washrooms available but I didn't check them out. There are no chairs available to rent so take your own and you will have a lovely time playing in the waves and watching the surfers and sailboarders. Very enjoyable!

This is a lovely free park right on the beach in Cape Canaveral. It is delightful, the facilities Are kept well. This is why I suggested this place as five stars, for the beach, swimming and having outdoor fun.

Just finished restoring the beach at Cherie Down Park, this was due to the last hurricane that went through. Lots of extra beach now.

The beach was beautiful and clean. We went later in the day so there wasn't very many people there either. A little too cold for swimming in January

7 mile beach run. I have been going on and off to this beach over the past 20 years. Parking is always easy and free. Access to the beach is easy. This has always been a no stress visit, this park is slightly out of the way of most tourists so it doesn't get a lot of attention.

We go to this beach every day when we're visiting our friends. Convenient parking and it's not a far from the Cocoa Beach Pier or Jetty Park. We watched the fireworks here on July 5, 2013 and can't imagine watching them elsewhere.

This is a great free beach and free parking! Restrooms and outside showers ! Great day use park in the center of beautiful Cape Canaveral! Come early, the parking is limited.

This is a very nice beach and very large. The best thing is that it is not overcrowded. The beach is clean and they have washrooms. Definitely will come back next time.

This was very small... and did not offer a lot other than some plant and vegetation and a small patch of grass. There was also a shower provided for washing sand from the beach.

small parking area, appears to be where the locals go late in the afternoon. There is a small bathroom and outdoor shower for rinsing off. One picnic pavilion for parties. Get there early if you want a good spot.

We visited Cherie Down park while visiting a relative in Cape Canaveral. It has a nice beach that is clean. We could see the space craft launch site from the beach. We didn't have time to visit any other amenities at the park.

While visiting the area I was surprised at the limited number of public access points to the beach, but Cherie Down Park is one such point. The beach was clean with lots of space for visitors, a great place for watching sunrise/sunsets and getting in a walk or run.

Lovely beach, to walk or relax on. Can see the Jetty, ships and subs coming in. Observe surfers and birds. See all the way down to the Pier.

We were able to visit this beach just for a short time. Small parking lot, sure in the summer it would be hard to find a space. Walkways to the beach. Found it a great beach to walk along in the water looking for shells and beach glass. Very clean. The thing I like was when you got back to the parking lot there were places where you could rinse the sand off your feet before you got back into your car. Nice touch.

Great beach. Convenient bathrooms and good parking if you come early. Will be back. Not crowded and clean.

This is a nice clean beach but it can get a bit crowded at times. Parking is usually available. They have lifeguards certain times of the year as well as showers and clean bathrooms.

I almost hate to give a great review. This is my favorite park/beach. There is no fee to park. Restrooms are usually clean. It is a family beach

This is a great little beach location that is not overly populated but has a large flat georgous beach.

This is a really nice mostly overlooked public beach. You don't get the major crowds of Cocoa Beach, unless that's the party scene your looking for. It has good parking, a decent pavilion with a grilling area. During the week is the best time to go, the weekends parking can fill up

Weekend parking is quickly filled up. Quiet and easy access.
Adequate parking during the week. Easy to find.
Free parking.

This parking lots fills up very quickly 7 days a week, but if you can get here before noon, you can usually grab a spot. The break here is a bit lousy for surf, but some still try. Not near as busy as Pier. Bathrooms are a bit gross.

This is another Beach/Park with free parking in the Cocoa Beach area.Well maintained, easy to access, good place to bring the whole family. Seasonal and week-end lifeguards make it safe for the kids and relaxing for the parents.

There was a life guard on duty, that was a plus. I loved the walkways to get to beach, it was very nice. There were picnic tables under a covered area. Good for the Family

This used to be a lovely park but I've never seen so much trash. Also, sadly, close to the Port so there were a LOT of cigarette butts next to the shells. People who don't live here, don't care.

We like going to the beach. This municipal park has a very wide and long, groomed, fine sand beach where every party can be separated from each other for some privacy. There are approx. 30-40 parking spaces. There is a clean restroom; however, on one day, still early in the day, the Men’s side had no soap (not good).
Beside parking lot is grasses play area with covered picnic table area.

Wonderful Family beach with all the amenities you can ask for. The park has showers, restrooms, picnic tables and a Life Guard on the beach. All though we went on a week day it seemed to be the quieter portion of the beach. The parking is also free as opposed to paying $7-$10 near the pier.

The walkovers to the beach were nice and free parking. The beach was nice and was quiet the day I was there. It is a nice little patch to hang out and see the Atlantic Ocean

Great parking area to the beach. The beach is a short walk over the boardwalk that gets you past the dunes. Perfect place for families with small children. They have a open shower to get all the sand of you and all your stuff you brought. Covered picnic tables and bathrooms in a park like setting with native trees and foliage near the parking lot. A reminder for busy beach time the lot fills up fast sometimes, early birds get the spot. Great beach not crowded like the busy Cocoa Beach pier that is south of this location, but if you like to walk the beach you can walk to the pier.
I have used this park many years, great place to go.

The beach is beautiful and not too crowded. The restrooms are not five star, but functional in their intended use. The parking here can be a little difficult, but as long as you get there before the “after lunch rush”, you should be fine. I highly recommend this spot for anyone trying to park and get access to Cocoa Beach.

While the beach is very nice the facilities are in need of repair and the showers and foot faucet have been removed. Commodes in the Ladies room do not flush Plus parking is very limited

Wonderful way to see OLD Cocoa Beach! Small, free parking area with wonderful sandy beach, clean rest rooms & showers.

There's free parking with showers and restrooms. The beach is nice. I always am afraid that I won't find this tiny gem, but I do and I am so glad!

Cherie beach is definitely a locals beach.
It has a small parking (free) and no umbrella and chair rentals.
It is completely uncommercialized.
Also there was not a lifeguard station.

This section of the beach is a lot quieter than Cocoa Beach. There is nice vegitation beside the boardwalk. There is an outdoor shower to wash off the sand and some bathrooms there too. Not a big park and can get full on weekend. Park is free. Parking on side streets that dead end to beach in Cape canaveral near the park are also free.

I love this beach because it is so close to Orlando. If you come on weekends or during holidays be early as the parking gets crowded. Enjoy the sights of the cruise ships leaving Port Canaveral or take a stroll on the beach either north towards the Jetty Park and the cruise canal or south towards Cocoa Beach and its wonderful Pier.

I always go to this beach and thoroughly enjoy the serenity and calmness here. The beach is never too crowded. Although parking is a problem at peak times, the beach makes up for the extra 15 minutes of searching for a spot.

This beach is clean and pretty quiet. Very soft sand, but yet a number of shells to choose from. Felt like a beach the locals go to to avoid the tourists.

Now mind you it was raining like crazy when we found this park! It is actually a park with covered picnic tables and memorials. Then you cross the boardwalk onto the Atlantic beach!! We were only there for a few minutes but the place was clean and handicapped accessible. Would be a good place to spend a lazy day and have a picnic.

Live locally and this is the beach i enjoy either by myself or with my 3 teenage girls.. Not too crowded and bathrooms and shower available. During the season, lifeguards are also available.

Driving here was a little hidden but once we arrived, the park had plenty of parking as well as bathrooms for littles. Beach access and good view of the launch. Probably as a second choice if you can not find space closer to the launch pad. Spent the rest of the day on the beach and walked to get ice cream nearby.

Clean nice beach. No vendors just a home town beach. Bathrooms are what is to be expected of a public beach

We always stop by here when we go to Port Canaveral before our cruise. The park is nice, we usually visit in the offseason, so there is plenty of parking. There are nice walkways to the beach, which is beautiful and wide, we love to watch the cruise ships sail out while the kids play on the beach. When we finish, they have showers and a restroom.

It was a nice uncrowded visit to the ocean. The weather was perfect and several families wee enjoying a Sat. afternoon at the beach.

Not a lot of parking spots. Beach is really nice. Bathrooms within walking distance as well as a pavillion.

A nice, accessible walk to the shore. View of the Cape Canaveral lighthouse, which was a nice boon. too far for a good photo, but enjoyed looking up to see it behind the ships leaving the port. one inbound, three outbound while we were there. Surfing, fishing, sand castles, one dog on a leash encountered.Several species of birds, sand crabs, not many seashells our day. Restroom was supplied. Shower close to boardwalk, handicap ramps. around 25 spaces to park with construction area barring more. Pleasant day spent here, would visit when in area.

Great entrance to the beach. Good parking and on of the few shower off spots because its mostly a neighborhood beach.

This is a very nice park. Clean and well taken care of. Good showers a pavilion and a couple of shady spots to get out of the sun. One very important thing IT HAS A BATHROOM

This park is north of the pier and the crowds. Post COVID it's very quiet, few people and after running by multiple times I've yet to see any dogs in the area of rhe park.

I have been going to Cocoa for years. It is one of my favorite beaches in Florida. It is also one of the closest to me. I find the crowds on the beach between Ron Jon's and the Pier can be a too much. By accident one day I found Cherie Down Park.
I can say enough about this beach location. It has just about all I need when I go to the beach.
Close parking, direct beach access, bathrooms that are kept fairly clean, a pavilion with a grill, and a friendly laid back atmosphere. Almost every time I go to the beach and set up my chair at Cherie Down I end up talking with people on the beach. I normally don't have to worry about ducking a poorly thrown Frisbee, catch an ill placed soccer ball, or listen to someone's overly loud music blaring from an 80's style boom box.
This is just a nice laid back beach spot. I would recommend getting there early as the parking lot does get full quickly on the weekends.

My son and I enjoyed this spot. It was clean and not very crowded. Free parking. Will definitely be back!

Get there early because the parking lot fills up! I would say before 11 am. Nice beach not overly crowded, You can walk down to the pier and the beach is pretty flat, so you don't have to deal with walking on that uneven terrain that can be troublesome to aging hips!

Great beach experience. Small park with beach access. Free but limited parking. Sometimes have to wait for parking.

Spent the day at Cherie Down to view the Space X rocket launch on June 17th. Perfect viewing spot. Get there early as the beach fills up quickly. Beach was clean and lifeguards were on duty in certain areas. Great family beach. Definitely recommend. Large flat areas to play games.

This beach was great. Great access to beach. Free to park, very clean beach and clean bathrooms. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommend

We enjopyed driving here (short drive from hotel) and parked to lay at beach and walk. There are very few access points for visitors to park at beach. Very nice family beach-Cocoa Beach seemed too party-like.

I would rate this a 5 if it had adequate parking During the week no problem. But on weekends all the spaces are quickly filled. Nice facilities for shower and restroom and picnic tables within 500 yards from the water.

We took our kids here to enjoy some beach time after going on a Time & Tide eco tour. I'm so glad we stopped. There is parking right by the beach and hardly any people there. It was clean, gorgeous and had the added surprise of cruise ships going out that the kids loved (we were there around 4-5pm which is when the cruise ships take off). If you are looking for an uncrowded, gorgeous beach come here!

This is a great spot to visit the beach; free parking; handy and clean restrooms. It's often busy on weekends or during peak vacation times, but well worth the visit. Easy walk to the port or a little longer to the pier. Nice beach; great views of the 'sea traffic' in the area.

Great place, if you can find a place to park, to go take in the splendor of Cocoa Beach! Lifeguards are vigilant.

Nice clean beach , not too crowded when we were there. Parking lot is not real big, would recommend getting there early to get a spot. Not a far walk from the parking lot to the beach. There are changing/bathroom facilities as well.

Cherie Down Park was an easy beach access park with free parking in the Port Canaveral area. Our family enjoyed the beach and also having bathrooms and an area to spray off our sand. We would visit again.

I have been enjoying this beach park since it opened to the public in 1983. The facilities are always clean and so is the beach. The white sand beach slopes gently to the ocean. This is a great place to chill out.

Great beach for frisbee, volleyball, swimming, boogie boarding, or just getting a tan. Free parking and restrooms / showers are a big plus. The sand has quite a bit of crushed shell...so not as smooth as Cocoa Beach a few miles down the road. Cool to watch the cruise ship head out to sea next door.

Average beach, but good if you are coming in to go to NASA or watch a launch. The water was pretty cold, but calm. You can see the cruise ships. We watched a shuttle launch on the beach.

Our favorite place to park and go to the beach. Good place to watch rocket launch. Restrooms and showers too.

If you are looking for a quiet, family beach, this is a good choice. Parking is free but the lot can fill early on a good day. Free parking spaces are also available on the side streets adjacent to the beach south of the park (but not on the city streets or you will be ticketed). It's located in a residential area, so don't plan on having concessions available. Showers, restrooms and picnic facilities on site. Lifeguards in season. Located a mile south of Port Canaveral so you can watch the ships come and go.

Visited to walk back to condo. Clean beach. Will walk through again in the future. Nice place to walk.

Enjoyed several hours here as a family! There are bathrooms, lifeguards and picnic tables. Best part is the beach access AND parking are free!!! Highly recommend if not staying at a beachfront condo or hotel.

This is a great beach to visit with lots of parking and family clean restrooms. Life guard is on duty. A Few covered pavilions for picnicking. It gets very busy on the weekends.

We stopped by to look at this park but it is more of a local garden area that provides beach access and not much more. It was well manicured and clean.

Love this place. Access to the beach through cool tunnel wooded walkway. Easy parking and seemed less busy than everywhere else. Places to sit , eat, and close to shops if need be. Would use this again if not staying on the beach directly.

We found this to be a great hike to get a feel for the Atlantic coast Beachs. Great beach and view of the Atlantic.

Off the beaten track, this beach/park is a great family beach. Free parking, but the parking is relatively limited. Lifeguards on week-ends (daily during the Summer.) Rest-rooms and outdoor shower. It's been my go-to beach all Summer.

We have had to pay for parking and driving sense we got down . US going to this park today for beach time .. and parking free .. oh yes I will take it..

Nice place, for a picnic....easy walk, to the beach. There is free parking, restrooms and just a short walk, down a boardwalk and you have your toes in the sand.

We live fairly nearby and this is one of our go to parks when we want to walk on the beach. Plenty of parking and it's free. They have clean restrooms and showers just off the beach to wash off the salt and sand.
This is a nice beach. Parking is free. They have bathrooms and they were clean. There
is a picnic area.
