I Visit EVERY Year!

By Avery J |

I am so impressed with everything regarding this rodeo! The venue, the staff, the venders, etc! The cowboys & cowgirls are INCREDIBLE! The horses, bulls, and steers are all well cared for and its fun to see them up close. Check out the Frontier Village & the Native American Village - GREAT Christmas gift shopping! I always get new beaded earrings every year.

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience in Cheyenne. The setup at Frontier park is easy to get to & to get around, lots off interesting retail stands & old Frontier town was great and the chuck wagons too.The Rodeo, the concerts & Last Man Standing were run seamlessly & were awesome ! Cheyenne had lovely friendly people & wonderful parade. We got around by using Lyft who were prompt & friendly too. Would definitely recommend this experience.

It' s not if we go back, it's when we go back

By Jill S |

My family loved every part of the entire trip. Yes, we had some weather issues (rain and a lot of hail) when we were out there but we didn't let that bother us and we can't wait to go back.

The park and ride was totally worth it ($10 fee for all day). It is a short five minute ride to Frontier Park or to Downtown. You can also take their shuttle from Downtown to Frontier Park. Yes, there are a few potholes in the park and ride area but we didn't have to mess with traffic. The shuttles are constantly running so you don't have to wait very long for the next one. They are also aware if there are any accidents along their normal route and can change it to avoid the congestion resulting from an accident.

The pancake breakfast line was very long but it is moving quickly so only had to wait about 30 minutes to get our food. The breakfast included pancakes, ham and a drink. If you haven't experienced the pancake breakfast, I would recommend it.

The behind the chutes tour was very good. It started off with a brief history of CFD and then we went to the chutes. You could actually get in the chutes and have your picture taken. Along the tour, they pointed out a few other things about CFD and Frontier Park. We all found this to be very interesting.

Statue of Lane Frost. Before my family went to the rodeo to watch the bull riding, we visited the statue of Lane Frost. We all felt that it was an important thing to do and to pay our respects to him. My son hasn't seen the movie "8 Seconds" but after we discussed who Lane was and what he accomplished during his rodeo career, he understood why we wanted to visit the statue and pay our respects.

Rodeo and bull riding. Our seats for both of these events were in section BU. They were good seats and we had the overhang over our seats which was nice. It rained but we didn't get wet (except for the time that a hail storm with strong winds happened). The rodeo and bull riding events were very entertaining and the announcer did a good job of pointing out different things that were going on, keeping everyone informed and explaining the events.

Old Frontier Town was ok. If you want to purchase items, this would be the place to do it. There was also an area where you could pay for a pony ride and there was a few animals that you could pet.

My husband loved the chuckwagons that were on display. The people at the chuckwagons were willing to answer any and all questions. My husband came away with a few ideas of his own for when we go camping.

Indian Village-we didn't get to spend a lot of time here but we were able to see them dance. Next time we will spend more time here.

All in all, it was a great event. Thanks Cheyenne!

Poorly organized

We were SOOO excited to be attending Cheyenne Frontier Days and Rodeo! The parade this morning was awesome. But then we attempted to get to the Rodeo grounds......from the time we got off the Interstate at the Park and Ride until we finally reached the Rodeo grounds was an hour and 5 minutes. The Park and Ride was completely unorganized and overwhelmed. A very long line of cars moved very slowly as they had only 1 lane at the entrance. Once we arrived at the Rodeo it was too late to eat lunch before the rodeo so we were just going to get food inside the venue. 30 minutes after the start of the Rodeo we went for food thinking things would have settled down. There was only 1 concession stand for the entire east side with 2 windows open. We stood in line for 45 minutes only to find out they were out of half the menu items! Again, completely overwhelmed and not ready for the number of attendees. We happened to have tickets that entered at Portal 1. The bus let us out at the far other side of the Rodeo grounds causing us to have to go through security 3 times. What a mess! On the positive side, the rodeo itself was great, had good announcers and music. However, we probably will never attend again because they were not prepared for the crowds. Probably stood in one line or another for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Cheyenne Frontier Days is great family fun. We've had rodeo season tickets for many years and the carnival and vendors are always fun. It takes place the last week of July every year and there is never a dull moment.

First time there and had a great time.

By Karna K |

First time there - always wanted to go. Not disappointed. Went to rodeo each day and PBR at night. Used the park and ride option. Went downtown and watched parade. Very nice.

The Daddy of Em All

By rug_tx |

Checked one off the bucket list here. This rodeo, carnival and concert venue was perfect. The cleanest fair grounds I've ever been on. The staff was very friendly when I called and reserved my tickets. The Park-n-ride was very convenient and quick. The rodeo and concert were fabulous!

A must for all travellers!

By michmattraveltime |

CFD was our first rodeo ever and we had an amazing time! We went to the rodeo in the day and the championship bull riding in the evening. Make sure you book your seats early so that you are in the action (you will also need boots and a hat otherwise you will look like a tourist 😉). Don't worry of you don't have the clothing you can buy it there!

Best rodeo I’ve seen

By Natalie S |

By far the best rodeo I have seen. Very well done. Great variety of good riders, you could hear clearly, they had videos explaining every event. I would highly recommend.

Awesome Rodeo event

By Denise A |

Supposedly the biggest Rodeo event in the Midwest! Lots of activities/fair and food for the whole family. The rodeo, frontier days, it lasts about two weeks and every day there’s something to do. Make reservations as early as possible because hotels get full fast! During frontier days we had the chance to see Keith Toby concert but there were other country singers throughout the 2-week event. Also, there’s a day dedicated to the military who get in for free that day. A must if you enjoy Rodeos

THIS IS MECCA FOR ALL COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS

By BobbyP009 |

It took me several visits to Wyoming to fall in love. Attending Frontier Days in 1999 took the cake. The event is awesome and is attractive to folks around the world. From seeing The Beach Boys to Reba and all of Western paraphernalia Wyoming is where it is at in the Summer!

It is indeed the Daddy of them All

By HNBISOFF |

I am a big rodeo enthusiastic attending many rodeo in Texas. Cheyenne Frontier Days lives up to it reputation as an really great rodeo. It is different from other rodeos as it offers an expanded venue with many more rodeo events. A must on anyone's bucket list. Bucket list check for me.

Heaven for Rodeo Lovers!!!!

By Winterstime |

The Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo and surrounding events are fabulous and well worth you time and efforts! The rodeo events are great and include things like bull riding, bare back bronco riding (personal favorite), saddle bronco riding, barrel racing, and more.

The rodeo events are roughly 12:15 to 3:00 each day. There are lots of surrounding activities to fill the other morning, afternoon, and evening times. Cowboy Church on Sundays, carnival, chuck wagon cook offs, and lots of vendors offering western and Indian items.

Parking - go early and park on the site, or at a nearby park and ride the event bus. If you get there really early (10ish) there is off street parking in the neighborhood.

Event store has lots of fun stuff from t-shirts to high end cowboy boots - special edition boots.

If you know you are going, get the 2016 Guide to Cheyenne Frontier Days, which contains all the maps, event schedules, and articles on the events and interesting local stuff.

Great atmosphere and fun times!

By bmorris1929 |

First ever visit to this rodeo. The park&ride set up was fantastic. Super easy to use and lots of busses. All the staff were very friendly and the venue is excellent. Plenty of bathrooms and amenities. Lots of carnival rides and things for all ages. Big Bubba's BBQ was soso on the ribs. But everything else was first rate. Corn dogs were best I've had in a long time.

A Unique Experience

By tpayne33 |

From the beginning until the end this rodeo was amazing. It is the real deal. It's something everyone should experience at least once. There is also a lot more to Frontier Days. The carnival rides for kids, the concerts of the evenings, the shops, and the Indian Village. However food, drinks, and parking can be pricey so come prepared.

Music and Shopping

By Professor Xavier von TaterTot |

Went to the first night’s concert at Frontier Days. So much fun to get there... but they really played the music loud for Midland and you couldn’t hear the words very well. The whole experience is a mixed bag. Great people there, the best. Great shopping. Terrible “gourmet” cheeseburger... I should have bought the turkey leg. Also super super hot, in high 90s. Hot seats, but again I would still recommend anyone to go and make the best of it because it really is something special.

We were worried about parking, but after coming into the area just before 5PM, we drove into the neighborhood next to the Frontier Days venue and simply parked for free 3 blocks away on a side street. Also, many people are selling spots in their driveway for varying prices; the standard being about $20. And why not help out the local entrepreneurs. I was reminded of all the folks who do similar things around the New Orleans Jazz festival.

Went to see the Big Daddy Rodeo

By katsatplay |

We couldn't believe no matter how much rain or mud there was that the rodeo would still go on. It was our first Rodeo and to be able to able to see the very best was a wonderful experience for a of us.

Summer vacation

By GailLins |

Cheyenne Frontier Days was the highlight of the summer for us. We made a trip out west with Cheyenne Frontier Days being the main focus and it was all we expected and more. My kids were completely entertained! They loved every minute of it and never asked if we could go or said they were bored. We went to the rodeo two days, the PBR one night, and spent a day at the carnival and in downtown Cheyenne. My family wants to go back!

AMAZING

By G dawg |

One of the best experiences ever! An amazing rodeo, fantastic rides. It’s absolutely impeccable at night!

Living the Wild West

By RoadtripCowboy |

Known as the Daddy of ‘em all, Cheyenne Frontier Days is an annual summer multi day festival of all things western. Our family visited for a day on a road trip to experience the event. Parking is scarce so we went to a remote lot for $10 which includes a free shuttle to the entrance. We paid an additional $5 each for general admission tickets. An employee noticed our hand stamps from the parking lot indicating we already paid and promptly got us a refund. Nice! Inside the venue are many food and merchandise stands of all types to browse or purchase. Of course we were obliged to buy a couple of authentic western cowboy hats. It was the next to last day and the rodeo finals were in full swing. The bull riding was interesting. Outside of the venue is Pioneer town depicting an old west village with a singing cowboy playing guitar. All around were large crowds and unending vendor stalls. Our final stop of the day was the Indian village. Here, we were treated to the one of the last Native American dance displays of the fair. The elaborate and colorful Arapaho wardrobes and rhythmic rituals were amazing to see and appreciate. It gave us a glimpse of early America. The complimentary Wind River Casino hats were crowd pleasers, as well. Since we were not fortunate enough to have tickets for that evening’s country music show, we headed out against the incoming crowd. Through all the masses and the western atmosphere, we enjoyed our time at Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Great experience once again!

By Shirley C. |

Just had our third visit to the rodeo and it was wonderful once again! We traveled from PA to attend the rodeo. We can’t wait to visit again. Such a well organized event relying on so many volunteers.

Yeehaw!!!!!!

By RJ V |

I've been going to rodeos since I was in diapers and this is by far certainly one of the best in NORTH AMERICA. Staff and volunteers do an outstanding job. You'll see the best cowboys and the best stock alive today. GREAT ALL AMERICAN Family entertainment and well worth the price of admission.

Great time with Old West Cowboy activities

By 374walterb |

Frontier Days in wyoming is a great celebration of the Cowboy West and wholesome other activities. Frontier Park holds the rodeo the old Grand Daddy of Rodeos.

Top notch talent riding roping and entertaining while competing for big prize money!

A top tier carnival and midway along with concerts like Keith Urban and Tim McGraw.
Not to be missede is thee FREE pancake breakfast a truly amazing event. do not let the long 3 block line deter you from partaking. when we got in line until we were served it took only 17 minutes to be served and eating a great pancake breakfast!
And did I say it was free!!!!

Let’s go, let’s show, let’s Rodeo!

By kjnort |

I grew up watching this rodeo and participating on the sidelines. Came back for a visit and had to go. I met up with family and friends. There is so much to do. Rodeo, carnival, parades, pancake breakfasts, Air Force Thunderbirds, and some of the best country music performances around. Dancing and music. I was not disappointed at all. Except perhaps the food prices are a little crazy but you find that every where there is a carnival. If you like any of the above things. Go.

Cheyenne Frontier Days and Rodeo

By rbaker61 |

An excellent experience. I am not a Cowboy, but like rodeos. Rodeo tickets were inexpensive, the amenities great. There are Western displays, a small museum on site, food and restroom facilities. I highly recommend it for a date or family day trip.
Bring sunscreen and a hat, it is an outside endeavor. The food is a little on the costly side and so are the drinks. Recommend you bring your own water bottle.

Yeehaw!!

By twobizzy515 |

What a great Rodeo! I don't even know where to start with this review - There is just so much to see!! We bought tickets for 2 days of rodeo (July 28 & 29) - our seats were great, up under the canopy so we were sitting in the shade, which I highly recommend. No worries 'cause the beer & water vendors come through all the seating, so you don't miss a minute of the action. Lots of action, never a dull moment, and plenty of entertainment between the rodeo events.

In addition to the rodeo, there is a museum which is definitely worth the additional $10 - and make sure you have an hour or so to get through it without any hurry. There are lots of vendors (crafts, foods, etc.), a Chuckwagon cook off, a wild horse & burro auction (on the day we were there), and a carnival midway with lots of rides. I'm probably missing something because I don't think we made it through everything that was there.

There were concerts every night, but we did not buy tickets early enough to get good seats, so we did not attend......

We are definitely making plans to return!!

Cheyenne Frontier Days - AWESOME!

By Brian H |

We had a great day at Frontier Days. We attended the rodeo in the afternoon - nearly 3 hours of nonstop action. These cowboys and cowgirls were the real thing There was plenty of time to walk around to all of the vendors and many food and drink stands. Are night we attended the Xtreme Bulls event. Another two hours of fun. Best advice is to use the park and ride service and ride the bus. Also, for the rodeos, sections 207 and 307 are right across from the chutes. Finally, almost everyone you come in contact with is a volunteer. They couldn’t be more proud of their event, and want everyone to have a great experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to vacation here again.

Cowgirls of the West Brunch. Silent Auction all messed up,

By Patricia B |

I felt Miss Frontier was so beautiful and deserved a much better introduction at the Brunch than she got. Maybe it was because the Lady In Waiting is the Granddaughter of the Master of Ceremonies and when she was introduced, the Master of Ceremonies failed to recognized that she was not the important one. I feel Miss Frontier was slighted in her introduction.
Also the Silent Auction at the Brunch was so messed up. Some of us did not get the items we bid on and got items other people bid on. The lady handing out the bid on items was clearly not on her game> Terrible this year> I will not be going back.

Lots of fun for the whole family

By BeachGirl0509 |

What a great experience. While we are not carnival goer (looked like a pretty large one though) the rodeo itself was great entertainment and a real value for a family outing

Great concert, amazing Rodeo

By BlabbyTabby |

Cheyenne was gorgeous with rolling hills, fun camp grounds, a good fair, and a large concert venue. I gave a 4 out of 5 due to the fairs prices being pretty steep. Also the concert, while having epic talent, had awkward standing area. I paid extra to be in front of the stage, but it was so packed we couldn't even really see it and also so packed you couldn't move. To many tickets were sold for standing, stage front area. Other than that, great place!

Disorganized! A mess!

By OnAir00848466423 |

My sister and I were taking our disabled mother(limited walking, stairs are a problem and in a scooter) to Cheyenne for frontier days. I booked tickets for the rodeo that, according to the website, were accessible. They were not. We arrived at the venue at 10 am and we’re told the handicap parking was already full and we were directed to a far away lot in the grass. There were no sidewalks and it was very unsafe. When we finally got to the rodeo we discovered our tickets were not at all accessible and weren’t even on the aisle! Both of which they were supposed to be. We inquired with the usher. She had no clue but said this had happened to another person as well. Several
Managers tried to “help” but wanted to seat us way down at the end where you could see nothing behind a trailer. We ended up walking her down the stairs and they stowed the scooter. We traveled 600 miles to come to this rodeo! We wanted to see it!

The food situation is as follows

Don’t buy the foodie package. We stood in line for a half hour to get food at the concession only to be told by someone walking around the lines that we could not use our vouchers there. She said we would need to exit the venue and go get food from the individual vendors outside the arena. What? It was supposed to be lunch at the rodeo not something to forage for after. Each vendor has different stuff so if you wanted a turkey leg and a hamburger, your party would have to split up into separate lines which were long and slow as slow could be. Also, there were no where to buy water except to wait in long lines, but if you wanted a beer, you could get one in a matter of minutes.

This was not a good experience at all.

Perfect timing for our trip to Mt. Rushmore

By Albert B |

We lucked out that our trip to Mt. Rushmore, etc coincided with Frontier Days. Purchased tickets to rodeo online with ease and picked tickets up "will call". Tickets are very reasonable so do a little home work on where events take place in the arena before selecting seating and upgrade for a few dollars. Shuttle bus is definitely worth it from parking lot. Lots of very friendly vendors. COWBOY UP!

It is an event NO one should miss

By Leigh Ann S |

You can put your phones up and enjoy the old west..take your kids there is so much for them to do. The rodeo is one of a kind with events you will see no where else in the world, like the "dinner bell", Wild Horse Race, and the steer wrestling is a score longer than any other rodeo. There is a reason they call is the "daddy of 'em all". Don't miss.

Rodeo

By skmcintyre2017 |

If you are in Cheyenne during Frontier days get tickets for the rodeo and one of the concerts at night, watch the Native Indian dancers and walk around at the fair. There are rides for kids.

Don't do Party zone/standing at the concerts

By Kathy E |

Standing/party zone at Cheyenne Frontier days concerts is very unsafe. There is no control of this area. Hundreds of people packed into this area. It's not safe for kids, elderly or anyone with disabilities. There was an elderly woman in a walker that was getting pushed and shoved and another that had a medical emergency and couldn't get out. People urinating anywhere as if you get to a Porta potty, you will never get back to where you were standing. So the best you get in this area is watching the whole concert on a big screen.

Nothing Comes Close to Experiencing the Real West

By RoadTripper516 |

Just plain clean fun! Best of the West! Parades, Rodeo, Hometown Fair, Dancing, Music......There is just nothing I've ever experienced that was so much family friendly fun. Whether its every year or once in a lifetime......Not to be missed in your lifetime!

Concert ruined by drunks

By Nikki Q |

This was our second time to come to Cheyenne Frontier Days. We went to concerts on two consecutive nights this year. Never again! The first night a couple of drunk guys were hitting on every female that walked by and the more he drank the worse it got. By the middle of Little Big Town he poured beer on the two girls behind me and also in my hair and down my back. There is no accountability for the amount of alcohol consumed. Most places will cut people off, but there were people unable to form complete sentences buying more beer. Last night was much worse though. We arrived an hour early and had a good time until the second group came on. Then a group of people came up behind us shoving, spilling beer and one guy was grabbing butts of the teenage girls next to us. When they said stop he called them names until they left. We missed the headliner because another guy actually threatened a 14 year old saying he had some big guys with him. Really? He's 14, my daughter is also 14 and I'm a 5'4" small mother alone with her two kids. I've traveled all over the world with my kids. Last week were in New Orleans. This is the only place I've felt unsafe and left an activity to ensure we would be ok. The website said the party pit is not for the faint of heart. We like to have fun, we weren't drinking or being stupid and do expect some of that to occur, but to be called names, shoved and threatened at a "family" event- no thank you. I won't ever go back.

RODEO

By Wilhelmina W |

Worlds largest outdoor rodeo. Awsome. Bull riding. Bare back riding. Steer roping. Mutton bustin with little kids. Wyoming cowboy bull riding champion đŸ„°đŸ„°. People from different countries come to this event. Also. Carnival. Great food. Music. Blue angels fly show is great

Concert was awesome! The parking situation: not so much!

By Knightrider2009 |

This was our first trip to Cheyenne Frontier Days. We enjoyed the Sam Hunt concert very much.
The parking situation could be more clearly marked (prior to pulling into a lot and being told that public parking was somewhere else). There was absolutely no police or security to help the traffic flow after the concert either! How ridiculous! 5 lanes leaving a 1 lane parking lot! Come on! With such a great event, how could you slack on this detail?

Great to be there

By glenda w |

First watched the parade with bands from all over Wyoming , which was excellent in visual experience. All the horse riders had on pink shirts for Breast Cancer Awareness Talk about beautiful horses dressed up in pink glitter, the ladies were all decked out too, then the rodeo at Frontier Park ! The best of the Wyoming State fair. Good local food , nice cold drinks . A great day in Cheyenne was enjoyed by many people of all ages. Horses, bulls , calves, riding , roping ! I would advice this for people of all ages !

Lots to see and do

By Bernard W |

What an experience! Gushing rain and massive amounts of marble-sized hail on July 26, 2018. Despite this —or maybe because of it—we had a fun time. We arrived too late for the rodeo, but went to see western displays, animals, and the slightly separate Indian area. Fun time. We parked in the Park-N-Ride for $10/car which got all of us gate admission without further charge. A school bus shuttle took us to the grounds—in about 5 minutes. Very efficient, despite the weather.

The West at its best

By Jamie S |

Frontier days in Cheyenne is a little over a week long celebration of the old West and new West combined. The rodeos are world class with champions competing every night. The concerts have amazing headliners, from rock to country. Kids will love the Indian village with pow wows, great food, crafts, and art work. There is a chuckwagon cook-off too, old school style. The midway carnival is a typical small town carnival but still fun for the kids. Must try spiral spuds with cheese, the best fair food available! Parking is always difficult but if you go during an off time (mid afternoon) you will find a spot close to the park. You can always park for fee at one of the several houses that charge for lawn parking - many of them charge more in the evenings.

Have to go

By Sarah S |

I've been wanting to go to this event for years but don't endorse animal abuse so went with my friend who's knowledgable about such things to be sure I didn't end up paying to watch something cruel. We avoided the actual rodeo events but had a great time at the parade, shopping at the stalls, seeing the Western Experience and wild horses that been brought in to BLM auction, watching the American Indian dances in the Indian Village, sampling food, and going to the Tim McGraw concert.

We had trouble at first locating the free shuttle in the morning which was hilarious because it turned out we were standing right in front of the "Free Shuttle" sign. We ended up being able to call someone to drive us out to the fairgrounds. There were tons of lines but somehow whenever we happened along the line kind of dissipated and it seemed we never waited. We had difficulty finding wine; turns out the general CFD cowboys are not big wine lovers. Oh well, we made do and spent a nice while chilling in the Garden. We perused all the food before choosing Grandma's Kitchen as the only place that had anything with any semblance of nutritional value. After we had checked out everything we had a drink at Buckin' A Saloon before our concert. They had a live band. It was nice but crowded and we were a little out of our element being older Denverites in a land of younger cow folk. The concert was good and amazingly affordable at $135 for two tickets.

Finally, the most horrible tortuous part came after the concert when we were exhausted and could not get out of those fairgrounds to save our lives. After standing in line for a mile we got on a bus that took us to a parking lot even further from our hotel in town. By the time we got back to the fairgrounds, the shuttle services were done and there was not an Uber to be had. We thought we were going to have to just give up and move there. There were drunk freezing people actually crying all around us. To make matters worse, we were carrying a big metal rooster I had bought my husband. We were beyond thankful when we finally engaged a pedicab kid. Like, it was one of the happiest moments of my life when we were sailing along the town streets listening to awesome music in a bike wagon headed to our hotel. I think we paid him around $50, completely worth it. One crazy, exhausting, fun day.

Can't Wait Till Next Year

By Mommyarj |

This was a great time. Definitely need more than one day to see everything. Indian Village was my favorite, the native dance demonstrates were amazing. The Western Experience was nice, had an informative program showing horse training. Take the Bucking Chutes tour, great information, wear good shoes it can be muddy. The daytime rodeo was a lot of fun, we attended the CBR bull riding on Tuesday night, it was the best part of the day. Food is really pricy, eat before you go. Water $4.00 a bottle, very few water fountains, best thing to do is buy the Lemonade so you can get the refills. We didn't do the carnival, just no time. Plenty of vendors, just some of the vendors are set up in multiple locations so your probably not going to find a better deal on an item at another stand. We toured the Old West Museum, probably once is enough for it. Blew up some rain both days so be prepared. We didn't go to the pancake breakfast or parade hopefully next year we can. Parking is crazy, research where you are going to park ahead of time. Make reservations early for lodging or expect to stay outside of Cheyenne, which isn't too bad, we stayed an hour out and the drive was scenic. I can see this being a regular trip, lots to see, lots to do.

To each thier own

By Gus J |

There are alot of people who go to rodeo's expecting one thing or they have no idea how people are in the western states. People get upset how we talk or how we do things. Most of the time these people act uptight and suffer from a selfrightious train of thought. If you go to a fair/ carnival for outstanding cuisine then you sir/mam are a fool. If you become sensitive watching cowboys and cowgirls do thier thing than dont goto a rodeo. Stay home drinking your cheap wine with your cheese. Your presence alone ruins everyone else's experience. Other than that it was fun going to frontier days again this year. The atmosphere there reminds me of being back home in Texas

Big concerts with an intimate feel.

By Joanne R |

My two daughters (ages 22 and 13) and I went to the "Fall Out Boy" concert on Saturday night. This is the third year I have attended concerts at Frontier Days and we will come back. The venue is authentic and if you are lucky enough to get into the "Party Zone" you can be very close to the artists. This is the how you want to experience a concert.
It was dry this year but BEWARE if it rains at all the party zone turns into a mud hole. Wear your cowboy boots. This is because the party zone in on the rodeo track. As far as the parking situation referred to in another review I disagree. Anyone who goes to concerts expects a crowd when the concert is over and know it will take an hour to get out of the parking lot. If you drive to any concert anywhere that is the result of thousands of people going to the same place at same time.

First Rodeo!

By Bob B |

Must do the parade. 1.5-2.5 hours long. Bring your lawn chairs.
Nice facilities for my first rodeo. Well worth the trip.

Left Out Dance Floor in the onsite Buckin A Saloon

By journeywest |

I have been going to Cheyenne Frontier Days since the 1980's, and have always enjoyed the rodeo, and then dancing in the onsite Buckin A Saloon in front of a live band between the rodeo and the night show. They built a simple plywood dance floor for that purpose that worked very well, and brought some authenticy to the Saloon. They still using promos of cowboys dancing with their partners on that dance floor in advertisements for the Buckin A.

The problem is a couple of years ago they moved and upgraded the Bucking A Saloon to a larger tent, but left out the dance floor. Yes, you can jump up and down on asphalt, but it is impossible to dance on it. So much for progress. Big fail.

Immersed in western culture

By Alysia R |

We first went to Cheyenne Frontier Days or CFD as they refer to it 20 years ago. We were only able to take in one day but if the rest of the week was like Saturday I don't know if I could have kept up! There were families with kids of all ages, young and old and something for everyone! A huge food court with everything you could want- grilled corn (my fav), burgers, sausages wrapped in potato ribbons, fried Oreos, you get it. Rodeo competitions all day and last night Brooks and Dunn. Thousands of people packed the arena and weren't disappointed! The final song honoring America's military brought deafening applause and chills up my spine. Everyone should experience CFD once just to glimpse the western lifestyle and pure goodness of the people drawn to this event. 3000 volunteers make it happen and are to be heartily congratulated.Nice job Cheyenne!!

Never Again

By Casey K |

They severely injured/killed a steer during one of the roping events - its neck seemed to snap. The limp body was loaded onto the back of a truck and driven away while the next competitor queued up.

This is entertainment?

There were several roping events that consisted of calves or steer being roped by the neck or horns, flung to the ground, and dragged before having their legs tied. Me and my family and friends kept cringing and saying, “I’m sure they wouldn’t do that if it harmed the animal, right?” Wrong.

I wish I researched rodeo animal welfare before going. I did afterward and it was horrifying.

My first and last rodeo.

Forever Western Trip

Awesome day out

By Martyn C |

Never been to a a rodeo before and I was not disappointed.
There was something going on for everyone to enjoy plenty of attractions to look at before entering the stadium for the main event.
It is best to park at the ‘park and ride’ and catch the shuttle bus to the venue.

No Rodeo, No Problem

By sbr812 |

Although my husband and I were not in town for the actual rodeo, we still enjoyed our experience in and around the Cheyenne Frontier Days stadium! In fact, we had such a good time, that we plan on making it back for the actual event!

Great time

By pokey89 |

FOund this by random and glad we did as we love seeing a good rodeo. Parked in the designated lots for $10, got our wrists stamped, boarded the bus and took a quick 5 minute ride to the entrance. The parking fee included admission. Our tickets were at will call and it was an easy pick up.
Thought there would be more to see and do, but loved the options we had. Food choices were great although a bit pricey. $4.00 for a bottle of water in the heat was crazy.
Would love to attend next year and have seats closer to the action.

Frontier Days rodeo seat recommendations

By Toby J |

We just got back from Frontier Days rodeo, which was great. I had a hard time finding recommendations for what seats were best, so here are my suggestions...

Sit on East Side if you want to be close to the action, including the Bucking Chutes. It's about $5 more expensive than the bigger B and C stands, which are quite a bit furher away from most of the action.

While you could get seats in the lower levels of the East Side, only do that if you don't mind being in the sun. Better for us, were the seats halfway up (shaded by the overhang), in the Upper East Side section. And within that, I'd recommend sitting closer to Chute 9 (i.e. seats 140 or higher), which is where some of the riders enter, so you get to see them better.

If I were doing it again, I'd shoot for East Side Upper, between rows K and O and seats 140-180. What a blast!

Biggest & Best Outdoor Rodeo in The World !

By Vacationer9898 |

What a fantastic week and location to see a rodeo and enjoy food, entertainment, and behind the chutes tour to learn more about Rodeo. If you are new to rodeo, the free behind the chutes tour is very informative and you are able to walk in the arena and climb in the bucking chutes, and walk next to the rough stock, and see how well the stock is taken care of and see how the veterinarian checks on the stock frequently.

I think the sellout crowd for rodeo was 15,500 tickets, and sellout for the concert was 25,000. Get here early for the good street parking, and take part in the Indian Village, the great food vendors, as well as the vendor trade show under the grandstand as well as the trade show in the building behind the grand stand.

Kudos to the CFD team of workers and volunteers and visitors to make this the Daddy of them all in Rodeo world. Ticket prices are fair, plenty of concessions, great selection of seats.

Kyle Shobe does a great job announcing and keeping the crowd informed on what is going on with the hows and whys. The grandstand announcer Garret Yerigan does a great job announcing the rodeo and keeping it interesting.

Best tip is to attend on semifinal Saturday and finals Sunday. Finals sunday is some of the best rodeo you will ever see.

Nice event except for.......

By BKCastleRock |

I see there's not a lot of reviews on this event, and I'm wondering if new visitors are not par for the course. I attended this event probably 15 or so years ago and don't remember much about it then, except we got snookered into buying rodeo tickets from a scalper that were awful because they were "sun" tickets, not "shade" tickets. Figured we would give it another try this past weekend because of the big name concerts. The concerts on Fri/Sat were just fine. What wasn't fine were the unlighted walking areas, unlighted parking lots, and lousy traffic control. For an event this size, the organizers don't seem too concerned with safety. I think the event would be much better received AND more likely to get repeat visitors if they spent a little more effort on safety and traffic. Poor signage about where to park. TONS of barricades around the center causing one way roads where you can not figure out how to get turned around. The main parking lot has light poles, but they were NOT lit up. There are essentially NO traffic controllers at the major intersections surrounding the event. And...paying $20 to park was a little pricey...one would think a little more could be spent on safety and traffic control. I'm glad to have visited because there were many positives from the food, to the vendors, and of course, the fantastic big name concerts. Had the traffic and safety been better, I would have given a 5 star rating and looked forward to making the trip from Denver to attend again next year. Unfortunately...I won't be visiting again anytime soon.

Cheyenne Frontier Days parking!!!

By MamaLulu520 |

Prior to visiting Cheyenne Frontier Days for the first time I was researching the parking situation, but couldn't find much other than the three main options you have; park right at the park, find a spot on the street or park at the park n ride and shuttle to the park. I wanted more info, but couldn't find it, so here's what I learned for all you future visitors of Cheyenne Frontier Days!
Choice #1: park at the park for $20. This choice is really not possible unless you arrive early in the morning.
Choice #2: Park on the street. You can do this and walk a long distance. A lot of the homeowners around the park rent out parking spaces in their driveways and yards for $10-20.....$20 for the close spots.
Choice #3: Park and the park n ride and shuttle in.
I would totally recommend this option! The operation they have set up here is brilliant! For $10 you park your car about 5 minutes from the park and take a school bus shuttle to the park. You also get admission into the park for everyone in your car with this deal. When we first arrived at a busy time of day it took us 30 minutes to park, wait for a bus and ride to the park. After the concert we attended they organized people into lines to get on the buses. The longest you might wait is five minutes. We were back to our car in 20 minutes and we avoided traffic!! So, my friends...if you visit Cheyenne Frontier Days I highly recommend using the park n ride shuttle!!

Don’t go

By Kelly M |

So disorganized the venue does not have their act together. Over an hour to get in and we missed the first portion of the show . Will never return!

Classic

By Rob M |

Participated in the parade and Indian Village this year. Always cool to see the town of Cheyenne hop. Can't beat free. Be sure to see the pancake breakfast and air show during CFD...also free. Tons to do inside the park. Cheyenne Frontier Days is a must experience if in Cheyenne.

Great Adventure

By Jean K |

This is our second time to the Cheyenne Frontier Days, and we will go back again. We saw the parade (and we love parades), visited the area downtown and the depot where I stopped on my way to California when I was a youngster. The rodeo was fun....never a dull moment. It's a great mini vacation for everyone.

A Taste of the Wild West

By Jill M |

The world's largest outdoor rodeo doesn't disappoint. Year after year, the rodeo and events all around Cheyenne are well-organized, exciting, and fun for all ages. With different things to do every day, it can be a full week's worth of vacation! The rodeo itself is action-packed and exciting. I love the saddle bronc and bull riding events, as well as barrel racing... and the wild horse event at the end is thrilling. There is a warmth and "family-feel" during the entire event. Everyone is helpful and friendly. There's a ton of shops and food vendors - some amazing cuisine is available. After the rodeo, the carnival is fun for the whole family, and there's a different concert every night.

2nd Trip!

By twobizzy515 |

We absolutely love rodeo - so a 2nd trip to Frontier Days was a must for us this year. I was able to purchase rodeo tickets over the phone so that we could get the seating that we wanted (up high and in the shade!). Before the rodeo, we entered the Fairgrounds to shop at the many vendors. The events are so well coordinated and with the additional entertainment between events, time flies by! The only change we did not like was that the Wild Horse Race was moved from the bucking chutes and arena, to a small area at the edge of the arena. Other than that, it was great!

Junk

By Mjanderson1464@hotmail.com |

Pathetic. People don't come to a parade to see thousands of horses on 2 floats. Saw more police in the parade then ever see actually doing their job. Sad. You can tell how broke and sick this town really is.

Just Having Fun

By Robert D |

Cheyenne Frontier Days can be fun for the whole family. The carnival is fun for the kids of all ages. The rodeos are the top in the US. The concerts are always good. We went to the Eric Church concert our tickets were for the party zone. Since it had rained earlier that day this meant we were standing in mud about ankle deep. Along with a thousand other people. Had a great time. If you plan for a week you can do so many different things. Pancake breakfast. Old West shows. Chuck wagon cook-offs.
Air shows with the Thunder Birds and the Leap Frogs sky divers. we will go back nxt year.

Always a great time!

By Wyomingkings |

We attended the festivities at Frontier Park with our parents and it was very enjoyable as usual. The vendors offered amazing products and we enjoyed the Indian Village and dancing. The hoop dancer was amazing! We attended the Saturday parade and it is always very enjoyable. Saw some incredible draft horses and an amazing carriage collection. There is so much to see and do! And, for budget conscious visitors, there is lots of free stuff throughout the week. Truly a Wyoming treasure for all to see and enjoy.

Action packed

By Matt T |

First time attending the rodeo. Was action packed the whole time. It was military day and loved the celebration and how they honored them. Thoroughly enjoyed

Cowboy Rodeo at its Best !!

By DannyWasserman |

This is a lifetime event that should not be missed. They round up cowboys from all over the country and they come to this event once a year. The event brings in 1000*s of people each year and they put on a display of rodeo, bull riding, and other fun events.

Like a western themed state fair but very cool rodeos and shows

By Annette L |

The venue is very much similar to your average state fair with lots of food, rides, and western things to buy. Of course the rodeo and the shows make it so much more. Biggest draw back is the parking and the traffic. We were fortunate to find a resident in the neighborhood who parked us in their yard. Otherwise the buses to get to the parking area would have taken forever after the show let out.

Great family fun.

By SueGtoo |

This is a prime time rodeo combined with a County Fair, an Indian Village, and a "Western Experience". We enjoyed everything, but the rodeo was FANTASTIC.

I'd not attended Frontier Days since I was a child 40 years ago

By MarriedLady2014 |

The last time I was at Frontier Days I was a child and with my grandparents. My spouse had never been, it was fun, though I missed the Chuck Wagon Races. The program and the website said it was from 1-4pm....well that's not the case it was over before 3:30pm on Tuesday July 23rd. It was a clean facility, much fancier than it was 40 years ago. I was sad to see the Indian village way back in the corner instead of out front. But what really blew our miind was the cost of a breaded tenderlon sandwich...12.50 each...WOW! I don't remember there even being food vendors and certainly not 12.50 sandwiches, small ones at that, how do families do it?

A unique way to experience Wyoming and the West

By AnneG0772 |

Two tips up front: 1) Just park in the Park-n-ride shuttle lot and save yourself the hassle of traffic and finding a parking place. Everyone in your party gets free admission ($5 each) with your $10 parking fee. 2)Get rodeo tickets on the west side so you are not in the sun, and get on the second deck. It is MUCH cooler and breezier up there and the view is great.

I drove up from Denver (2 hours away) for the day. I spent the morning in Cheyenne at the parade, seeing the state capitol, the State Museum, and the old Governor's mansion which were all really interesting. Then in the afternoon I went to Frontier Days. I enjoyed the rodeo, the Frontier Park, the Indian Village. I was home by 8pm. I did not do the Midway rides or stay for an evening concert. You could easily spend two days here if you want to do it all. It is all well-organized and well laid out. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. There is quite a variety of food choices, expensive of course, and lots of great junk food.

Awesome rodeo!!

By dsaun |

The rodeo was awesome. Great rough stock and lasts about 3.5 hours of nonstop rodeo. Make sure to sit on west side to avoid sun. Lower level (I was BL) was kind of hard to see team ropers and calf ropers but not bad. West side is where you see more performances and better for wild horse race. East side would be good if you want to watch them move the horses and bulls since the pens are on that side. Parking was a breeze ( we got there early) and there are shops and sites without having to pay to go into rodeo grounds. Food was a bit pricey but look where you're at. A can of beer was $6 but again, they are going to run high just being at an event like this. Overall great rodeo performances and would definitely go back and highly recommend!

Great Time. You need to go at least once

By kerrtravelplans |

The event is so well planned it is easy to plan were to go and what to see. Gotta to the rodeo. We enjoyed the Cinch Rodeo. We like the pace and the cowboys. Indian Village is good for the dancing and singing. The exhibition hall had great local artist and many were real artist. Our concert was great. Just remember to read the scheldues for the right times.

Fantastic first rodeo experience

By UKholiday |

Well they call CFD the daddy of 'em all and they're not kidding. Not like we've been to any other rodeos, but given the scale of this one I'm not sure how it could be beaten.

The main attraction for us was the rodeo itself and it didn't disappoint. It was exciting, riveting and everything we hoped it would be and then some. Each event was introduced, with the MC making sure to explain everything that would be happening clearly, so newbies like us understood exactly what was happening and how each event was being scored. We also got a bit of history on how the events developed and information about participants backgrounds too which was interesting. It was a blistering hot day (we attended 23 July 2016) and though our seats were in an uncovered part of the stands, there were water misters and plenty of stands to buy fresh icy lemonade to cool us down. Restrooms were also good within the rodeo area.

While there we also visited the indoor market (some weird and wonderful cowboy and native american items, from art and craft works to clothing, jewellery, and tech gadgets). We also went to the frontier town, which was cute, with some interesting live presentations, including a blacksmith explaining his craft and a petting zoo. We also visited the Indian Village where we watched ceremonial dances performed in full ceremonial dress, with live music and singing and also commentary introducing each dance, its significance and the dancers performing it. We ate Indian Tacos there (delicious) before making our way home late afternoon. It was a pretty full day and exhausting in the heat but totally worth it - we're all rodeo hooked now!

Tip: we used the Bull park 'n' ride which was efficient and super good value for money at 10USD per car, which also included our entry fee to the rodeo grounds.

Great rodeo experience!

By Signshopowner |

If you are a Rodeo fan or never been to a rodeo, you will love this. Now, take into account this is a big rodeo and there are a lot of people there. You have to pay for parking and we bought our rodeo tickets in advance for $25 each. We got there at early and at 9:30 there was a behind the shoots tour and we got to go in the arena (little muddy, but we had boots on). They explained a lot about rodeo, it was free. Beware, cokes and bottled water was $4, and the rest of the food was usual high event prices. It started raining and got cooler near the end of the rodeo but a lot of the seats were covered. The rodeo had a lot of events and a lot of entertainment during the show. Trick riders and trick ropers, and quick stagecoach entertainment. The big screens showed the rodeo events up close, and put the scores up, also they explained each event in detail which is great for those who don't know much about rodeo. At the end was wild horse race that was unbelievable! I don't really have a review on the rest of frontier ays because it started raining and we left after the rodeo.

Always a Great Show

By Dwight N |

Always a great rodeo. Have gone twice now and habe enjoyed both shows. Would recommend the Behind the Scenes tour in the morning before the rodeo that afternoon. Plenty of food options with the fair as well. Even though the arena is quite large, theaction does not seem that far away. You can very easily make a full day in Cheyenne.

Really fun rodeo with lots going on!

By ElizabethLilly |

We based our vacation out west around attending the rodeo and it was what we did for the first full day of the trip. There are lots of things to do on the grounds before the actual rodeo starts, like the museum (that has sooo many exhibits, especially of wagons), the Frontier town (with lots of shops and things to see), and the Indian village (great food and wonderful dance demonstrations).

The actual rodeo event is huge. It's in a large space and there's constantly something going on. It'd be fun for families of all ages and the covered stands where we had seats were cool enough in the July heat despite my wearing jeans. I've been to several rodeos over the years and my dad is an avid redo attender/watcher. He was EXTREMELY impressed with everything and had the best time. He's talking about planning a trip back soon.

Has become pretty commercial and very expensive

By GregRCo |

Hadn't been in many years and was disappointed. The Rodeo is good, but there are good rodeos in may places. The venue hasn't been updated in decades and isn't that comfortable with many limited view seats. The nightly shows are always good, but again you can see these acts anywhere. The most surprising thing is how revenue focused it has become. $380/night for a room at a Springhill Suites. $44 for two Chik-fil-A sandwiches, two drinks and 2 chips. $4.50 for a Water. A 10 minute Uber was $74. Things were less expensive in Manhattan when I last visited there.

A trip worth taking

By Charles M |

The whole town is involved in this celebration. The fair grounds has the largest outdoor rodeo in the United States. The rides are fun, and remind one of a county fair. The event is a coordinated affair with park and ride using streams of school busses. The Indian History section had some of the best local and Indian Authinticated silver and precious metal jewelry and art pieces. This is a small town American event at its best. There are carnival rides, booths dedicated to selling leather goods and almost every kind of food is available. We made it a day long event. In the evening they have music events with name artists after the Rodeo is finished. This is Americana at its best.

Must do

By edward s |

If you have never visited this patriotic, family friendly town you MUST. Visit the pancake breakfast, the parade, the rodeo and see the Air Force Thunderbirds. Plus they have nightly shows and the fairgrounds is fun for the family. I am not a cowboy type
it but every year I turn into a real cowboy for a week.

Best Rodeo ever...!

By scuba-chuck |

Frontier days lasts 10 days, toward the end of July - The best Rodeo in the Nation. With a carnival midway, nightly entertainment, and lots of shops and food vendors. Incredible Rodeo.

Wonderful vacation

By Sandy A |

We loved Frontier Days and Cheyenne. We saw a d experienced a lot! We went to the rodeo, pancake breakfast, trolly ride, and great eating places.

Great Time

By Hello953 |

First time attending the Frontier Days, and have to say had so much more fun then was expecting. We attended the Championship Bull Riding which was the best we have ever seen, only disappointment was we only went the one night should have attended both nights. We also went to the Rodeo and that too was so worth the trip. The Behind the Chutes tour which is free was very informative and great pic opportunity in the chutes and also by the Big Daddy of Em All signs. Also did one of the free pancake breakfast events and was worried after seeing the line wrap around the block it would be a long morning, but the lines moved really fast and was so entertaining watching them make the pancakes and fling them in the air for the servers to catch on a tray, they have got this event set up so perfectly that they get a lot of people through in a short amount of time and you received 2 pancakes, ham and drink.

Checked off my Bucket List - great time

By tankersmom |

Always wanted to go. I'm a rodeo and bull riding fan and there's lots to watch. The crew / staff are volunteers and were so helpful. Lots of shops and handicraft items to look through, carnival food fare, but also some decent grilled vegetables. The entertainment at night was fun, we got to see Big and Rich. Big screen to be able to see everything if your seat is toward the back. People were friendly - looking for a good time. Again, the volunteers are amazing !

VENUE for Frontier Days

By LolaGo1 |

The Trolley Driver/Guide briefly stopped at the ARENA where the activities for the Cheyenne Frontier Days take place annually during the last two weeks of July. Learned that it could accommodate as many as 500,000 people! Near the venue are more tourist attractions such as a museum, Botanical Garden, etc.

She explained that the main reason for this event is to bring back the days when cattle ranching was prevalent in the city. Ranchers moved out and left the city when their cows were decimated by a blizzard.

I will definitely come back in Cheyenne to personally experience this exciting event, particularly the RODEO Competition!

Don’t waste your money or your time!

By Loresa B |

Worst experience ever! I won’t be back. Concerts packed like sardines. Seating crammed with no leg room even for short people. Unprofessional concert/rodeo staff. One staff member at the Kid Rock concert felt it was ok to drop the “F” bomb several times while talking to one person in my group. Since when is that ever OK. Police officers can’t direct traffic. Staff in general are just rude af! Carnival rides suck and long lines. Food is over priced and over done. Crowded, crowded, crowded!!

Rodeo and more!

By John V |

Frontier Days is more than the rodeo, but the rodeo is the main draw. We began our Frontier Days experience with the parade down Capitol Ave. The parade featured dozens of costumed locals celebrating Cheyenne's frontier history and hundreds of horses. I think my two year old saw more horses during the one-hour parade than she had seen in the rest of her life combined. We kept talking about how the floats in the Frontier Days parade were far more interesting than the ones in our local 4th of July parade.

We also went to the rodeo, which was enormous. It could have been miserably hot but thankfully most of the seating areas are shaded. Even so, the rodeo events went on too long for people with small children (which isn't a knock against the rodeo, just a heads up to parents!) It was also surprisingly loud. The announcers never stopped talking and their voices were pumped through the speakers at a high volume.

There was also interesting shopping beneath the stands and an Indian village where we watched some beautifully dressed men and women teach about and perform dances from different American Indian cultures. All in all a fun experience.

First time at a rodeo

By Alisha B |

This was a neat experience. We've never been to a rodeo before, and this one is a HUGE one. It's basically a carnival/fair, with a ton of shops, and an Indian Village, and a rodeo happening in a giant stadium all at the same time.

The carnival was a carnival. Really expensive to ride, but that's pretty typical I would think. And the shops were really cool, but a bit repetitive too. We got to see a Native American dance performance in the Indian Village and it was simply stunning. The....guys fancy dance...I think they called it?? Wow. Just wow.

As far as the rodeo goes, what a cool show! It runs so smoothly, and there's constantly something to see. We were really enjoying all the different events, up to the very last even which just seemed like a giant cluster F. It was called 'a wild horse race' or something like that, and basically they brought out some totally wild horses, tethered them to a couple guys each, kept shooting off loud bangs or rockets or something that scared the crud out of the already terrified horses - - and basically you're just sitting there waiting for a guy to get kicked in the head. Even our family - born and raised in Chicago, and having zero experience with animals or rodeos could tell this was a very very bad idea and nothing but some horrible side show. We were disgusted and devastated when the inevitable happened and a horse freaked out and landed on it's front leg funny and broke it at the knee. The horse kept on panicking so you could see the leg just flopping back and forth and all around in a horribly unnatural way. Quite traumatic for the kids. The family sitting next to us was crying. It was a horrible way to end a fantastic day.

First time in WYOMING

By Gwen M |

We had a blast today at the rodeo and surrounding events. Definitely a must see. Oh my gosh the wild horse race was scary and exciting all at the same time. You can bring in a tote or backpack just know it will be searched. The best was Park and ride sponsored by the local school district - let someone else drive you to the front gate and return you when your ready to your car all for $10. Yee haw ya’ll

Too crowded, not spread out, parking atrocious!

By Michelle J |

We went to the concert last night at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Thomas Rhett & Rhett Atkins were amazing. The rodeo was great but we had an obstructed view. And, did not know that was the case when our friends bought the tickets. Seems like the sign/marquee could’ve been moved over a tad so all the audience could have a decent view. We missed the beginning of the rodeo trying to maneuver parking because the only shuttle lot had atrocious lines. You need two lots minimum.

The lines for all concessions were so long, our friends left the park to go eat. We went back to our car, resorting to nuts between the concert & the rodeo. The shuttles were very fast in slow times, but ridiculously long in the beginning and I can’t explain how horrible it was trying to get back to our car at the end of the night. The drivers were very friendly & the staff directing traffic nailed it, but they need more shuttle parking lots. The committee needs to find a better way to handle the crowds marketed to.

We had a fun time, but the venue needs to be more spread out somehow. It was fun but so stressful maneuvering through crowds & lines EVERYwhere.

Several simple changes could make it so much more efficient & enjoyable.

I know these issues aren’t simple to solve, but it’s a big responsibility when you market to draw in such huge crowds.

Flip side, people in Wyoming are awesome, kind people & we made a good time of it overall. But! I was expecting a little more & was disappointed everything was crammed into such a tight spot, with few exhibitors. Would not be in a huge hurry to make the drive up there for it again without knowing things improved somehow.

Motorcycle trip

By Veronica M |

WeTravel all the way from South Carolina to Cheyenne to enjoy the 122nd Annual CFD Rodeo , it was an amazing ride and the rodeo was fabulous!!!!
Service at ticket counter was fantastic and we got amazing seats right in front of the action!!!!
The only reason why I don’t give a perfect score is because it rained and hailed and when everyone was able to leave we couldn’t because it had flooded and we had to find a different way to exit.
This is a fantastic event and I think the city needs to invest on a better drainage system.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and I hope we have the opportunity to visit again

Incredible Experience

By Kellsi D |

Cheyenne Frontier Days is worth every penny! Nonstop entertainment and the true spirit of the West. Our favorites are the PRCA rodeo, pancake breakfast, and PBR night show!

First Time to CFD= Great Experience

By mom20032007 |

We attended CFD on Sunday, July 22, 2018. This was our first visit to Cheyenne. We were worried about seating for the rodeo and did a lot of online research before purchasing our tickets. We ended up with great seats! We could see all the action (rodeo and sideline show) plus we were in the shade. We sat in Section BB, Row E. We were worried that being across from the chutes that we wouldn't have a good view, but it was perfect. The rodeo was great. Some kind of action was constantly taking place. We would love to go back in the future.

We also enjoyed walking around to all the vendor's booths. We didn't ride any rides because our time was limited. But it could be a great all day activity.

Great Time

By Holly D |

While we didnt have time to go to the rodeo, we did go through the indian village and frontier town shopping areas real quick and had a great time. There where lots of handmade items for a great price. Hopefully next time we will be able to stop longer and see the rodeo.

Wholesome FUN event for the whole family

By TLC |

This was our first time to Frontier Days. We could only be there for 2 days, so we took in 2 rodeos, a pro bull riding event, and a concert. What impressed us most were the people - so friendly, so welcoming, so hospitable! The Pancake Breakfast was awesome. It's amazing the Kiwanis Club can feed that many people that much food so fast! Everyone was so friendly - someone from a road crew even stopped what he was doing and came over to offer to take our photo so we wouldn't have to fumble taking a selfie! The parking shuttle was so nice - friendly drivers that took us straight from our car to the front gate of the event; they operated until late at night taking us back to our car around midnight. The food there was so good! I liked the little shops, and we bought many presents to take back home to family. The whole place had a wholesome, carnival atmosphere that, despite crowds of people, seemed relaxing and safe. We had so much fun! The actual rodeo events were impressive. We were glad to get seats for the day events in the shade as it got really hot in the sun, and we were glad to have warm jackets at night as it cooled significantly when the sun went down. The riders were very good, and it's obvious that everyone had rider safety and animal welfare as top priorities, which made for a good event. I was so impressed with the steer roping in which the rider leaps off his horse at 30 mph, grabs the steer by the horns, and manhandles the steer to the ground - wow! The "extra" events going on added a lot and we loved them - the trick riders, the foal race, the wild horse race. The Josh Turner concert was awesome, and the pro bull riding was intense. We hope to come back to take in even more of the event that we missed.

Daddy of Them All

By Marc P |

This is a huge rodeo with lots of events. There is a full concert series. Carnival games and rides galore (the one hour wristband is the cheaper way to go for kids riding the carnival rides). And don't forget to take in a powwow in the Indian Village. Loads of shopping and fun things to do.

First parade

By Anita S |

My family and I attended the first parade of CFD. It was amazing. We loved seeing all the floats, bands, and military represented in the parade also. Loved seeing all the different horses and mules as well.

Parking

By tinamarie8 |

Love the venue but when I called to asked if there was any covered parking I got laughed at. Have you seen the hail storms Cheyenne has? Don’t bring a nice vehicle. The Park n Ride is a good deal but your vehicle may end up in a deep puddle

PBR BULL RIDING & “Daddy of Em All” RODEO

By cyberdiver2018 |

The biggest and best western outdoor event in the USA. The equivalent of Canada’s Calgary Stampede. A full on fair, exhibits, food, & entertainment for all ages. Shopping for just about anything you can imagine with a western flair. Wild West Museum, Indian Village, Concerts and bands throughout the day, evening, and night. Top notch entertainers are booked daily. The Air Force has a huge presence in the area so of course an exhibition by their demonstration team “The Thunderbirds” is always something to see. The City of Cheyenne puts on parades about three times during the Frontier Days festival as well as a FREE PANCAKE BREAKFAST. The whole event has a “FEEL GOOD” vibe to it. The old downtown is a gem of western heritage and shopping. You won’t be at a loss for activities during the entire Festival. A bucket list event.

Do this along with a trip to SD

By Nashville_brent_65 |

I wouldn’t travel long distance just to see this. However, we were able to visit for one day in conjunction with our trip to Badlands, Mount Rushmore and Devil’s Tower. I wish we’d had an extra day so we could have seen the rodeo and even a nightly concert.
We saw Indian dances and the rodeo bulls and horses. Very well done event!

Can't visit Wyoming without doing CFD!

This was in fact our first rodeo (literally)! A lot of fun and educational. Lots of things to see and vendors to shop. Only downside was the food court area which is basically "fair food" - ok quality at high prices. We had tickets to the Tracy Lawrence/Charlie Daniels concert at night, which was off-the-chart awesome.

Best of the West

By Linda R |

If you yearn to see the west and real cowboys, this is the event. We enjoyed the rodeo and wished we had tickets for everyday, but we didn’t know what to expect. The rodeo is exciting. We booked seats Portal One east side. Great seats. You get to follow the athletes from start to finish, each day, fighting for the top slots. Indian village was ok. We enjoyed all the vendors, western experience and just the culture of the town in general. We took Uber’s but there are many ways to park and ride. It is not expensive so don’t let that keep you away. Cheyenne has made getting around to all the events easy and organized. Buy your tickets early, things sell out fast.

Evening concert

By jessica3272002 |

Paid to go to party zone, people behaved ridiculously. Pushing and shoving spilling drinks. There were little kids in the party zone which I thought was ridiculous. I think this area should be reserved for 21 and older, probably would've cut down on much of the issues. I missed most of the headliner Sam Hunt who I was extremely excited to see because of drunk idiots pouring beer all over me, I left caught a cab and went back to the hotel.

Rodeo Fun

By Gids52 |

Arrived at Frontier Days the last day of the rodeo. Tickets were needed for the rodeo, otherwise no entry fee. It was a Sunday so we attended rodeo church. Many items for sale. Indian Village was great. Rodeo was a lot of fun. Everyone was friendly & helpful. Spent the entire day there. Would love to go again, spending a couple days, maybe also attending one of the evening concerts.

This is a must thing to go see. Kids will love it & if you're country you will to. Alot of things to see & rides for all ages.

Always Fun Times at CFD

By Rica S |

Always have a great time up at CFD!

I would highly recommend the park and ride to avoid traffic and impossible parking downtown, closer to the fairgrounds. It's $10 per car load and you take a bus right to the front of the fairgrounds. Buses are lined up and available to go back to the lot all day... Very easy and convenient!

There are tons of shopping opportunities; from CFD merchandise, western wear, art, jewelry, etc, etc. Lots of price points.

Concessions are typical for a fair and typically priced too. A little on the high side, but standard for this kind of event.

The rodeo is great! Really good rough stock and 3 to 3.5 hours of non stop action. Be sure to get seats on the west side to avoid the worst of the afternoon sun. Section BU is great because you're under the awning, which helps with heat and protects from any afternoon showers.

There is a TON going on at CFD, so be sure to grab a map to be sure you don't miss out on anything!

Very good

Had a nice time, everyone was friendly and so many food options with little to no lines. The rock concert was amazing and loved the VIP treatment even though we paid a lot of money for the tickets. Could've paid less to be closer to the performers

Poor Organization

By unpaintedrose |

The rodeo itself was great but the organization for this event was awful. Only two people were helpful. We got our tickets online but couldn’t get any kind of QR code for scanning. It wasn’t until we were waiting in line for 45 plus minutes that someone told us we had to go to the ticket window and get paper tickets. No where online did it say we had to do that. And we were by far not the only people that were confused. There were a TON of people but we only saw one person telling us where we needed to go for entry. Signage was non-existing from where to park to where we needed to go for entry.

Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo is as Billed as Big Daddy of Them All for Good Reason

By Annette S |

We started the day with the parade, Not every day of the festival has a parade, but it is well worth the time!! The parade lasted close to 1-1/2 hours, runs through downtown Cheyenne, and if you are a horse lover, this is for you...a ton of horses in the parade; but all is safe as there are parade marshals everywhere in case a team or individual horse gets out of control. Safety is definitely Number One!

We went from there to the Fairgrounds to have lunch and see the Rodeo. We met people from all over the United States at lunch....so much fun. Food was typical festival-type food with some more unusual offerings such as Elk and Bison.

The rodeo was amazing!! It is billed as the "Big Daddy of Them All" for good reason! It started with a parachute "fly-in" of the American Flag. The Blue Angels also did fly overs that were awesome!!

Once started, the rodeo was non-stop action. Eight chutes were set up in the main area and a 9th chute was at the end of the ring for events such as steer roping, steer wrestling, etc. The program bounced back and forth between the main 8 chutes and the 9th chute. The "ring riders" and clowns saved those boys from serious injury several times....no joke!!

There were several "exhibition acts" on the West side of grandstands, so if you are not interested in those events, get seats on the West side of the grandstands....then you don't have to look through that to see the real action.

All in all, if you want to see REAL cowboys in a REAL rodeo, go to the rodeo at the Cheyenne Frontier Days. We had a blast!!

Pancake breakfast

By Nikki Q |

When we arrived at the pancake breakfast at 7:30am we were intimidated by the length of the line. We had been told it moved quickly and was a great experience, so we stayed. The line wrapped around several blocks, but we did move quickly. The weather was nice and the people in line were nice. They flipped pancakes in the air onto large trays and my nephew enjoyed watching. The food was good and surprisingly they had the service down so well it was all hot and fresh. I was very impressed. We got seats close to the stage to eat and listen to the band. I would recommend anyone visiting during Cheyenne Frontier Days to attend.

Awesome, as usual

We attended the Professional Bull Riding on Tuesday night, the Rodeo on Wednesday and the Dierks Bentley concert on Saturday night. This is our fourth year attending events at CFD at each year the experience is better than the year before.

We Just Love Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD)

By Karen S |

How can you go wrong with parades, pancake breakfasts and rodeo. Cheyenne goes all out for this once a year event. My grandson loves the cattle drive where they literally drive the steers down from North of town,(like they did in the old days), down the frontage road to the CFD arena. Make sure attend the free events, like the slack (early morning rodeo) and the pancake breakfast. You will look at the line and think this will take forever but you will be amazed at how fast that line moves - they know how to put on a breakfast. The parades are just a good time, lots of horses and old fashioned carriages. You can't get much better than this rodeo. The stands on the east side do get hot in the sun, then do have misters but if the wind is blowing (and when isn't it) they mist may blow right by you. I have attended a few of the night concerts and I have not been impressed with the sound. We have parked and walked but also have taken the shuttle from one of the high schools and that was wonderful. Cost $1.50 and leave the driving to someone else. The one negative I will say has been the ladies bathrooms. I am not sure if they have anyone to stock and straighten up the bathrooms but the ladies had no toilet paper and were just terrible. Now I know CFD is run by mostly by volunteers (that is awesome) but come on - ladies need toilet paper. Next year I will have make sure to bring my own.

Rodeo announcer is a neanderthal...

By 3xHoo |

who led the crowd in a prayer, referred to woman riders as "lovely ladies" (seriously?), rambled about what he heard on Foxnews, made fun of Californians, etc. Left after an hour... Food was poor. Volunteers and staff were helpful and welcoming. Some nice art on display.

As with most rodeos, the event is not suitable for anyone who cares about animal welfare.
