Great food , great drinks , and great scenery the food is delicious and the waiters wait on you hand and foot I wanna go back next week

Wow! You would never know that you were in a part of NYC when you are on City Island. It smells like the Cape! It has more seafood restaurants than the Cape! It has as many boats as the Cape. A great little town to take a summer stroll,or do it in the fall. so many great seafood restaurants to choose from.. You cannot go wrong here. If you have never been here, rent " A Bronx Tale" with Robert DeNiro and check out Lorenzo and his son on City Island and the Ocean

Went to Sammy's for lunch, good food and okay service. Cool little island in the middle of chaos! Not a lot to see but a nice walk to see the quiet side of town.

Enjoy the food, its all about the seafood, mainly the crab and fish and chips. delicious. great restaurants in the area. seafood lover paradise.

Before I even moved to the Bronx I use to and still do go eat at different restuarants on city island. I love them all. I focus on the ones that are more seafood oriented there are some that are not. But I still love this place. I only go in the warm summer months though. Not when its cold.

City Island is a nice place to get out with family and friends to go and eat and hangout. Great seafood all around.

Love city island and it's resorts. I dined at the piers and crab shanty. A wonderful experience. At the piers they serve superb cocktails while the crab shanty is great for its seafood platters. Dined also at the black whale which was the place of my son's christening reception.

Starting around 4ish, the traffic going into and out of City Island is unbearable. The quaint, almost New England setting with it's many good and excellent restaurants is just too popular for it's own good. Come for lunch or early dinner or for get about it!

EXCELLENT place to go for dinner, especially seafood. A variety of restaurants, & a nice views for some of the out door seating spots.

Every wed the hottest after work party with 2-1 drinks from 4pm till 8pm at the inside bar, great food & hookah also, and if you like some good Dominican cigars..

I would recommend going to City Island in the late spring, summer or early fall (mid September). The ambiance of sitting by the water and catching a cool breeze of the Long Island sound while eating your seafood & sipping on your beverage is quite delightful while you & your date or family enjoy each other. If you have kids with you, they have video games indoors so they won't get bored with the adults.Whether you go to the every end of City Island or one of the restaurants when you first enter "The Island", you won't be disappointed with all the different kinds of foods. During the summer season, they even have a MTA bus that you can catch at Pelham Bay Park No.# 6 Train station that'll take you to & from City Island for $ 2.75 (each way). If I had one thing bad to say, it would be to look out for seagulls flying around trying to snatch your food if you leave it unattended for even 30 seconds, LOL!! Hey, they gotta eat too!

Johnny's reef on City Island is one of the best yea there's the lobster box n Sammy's but those both are for special occasions when you can afford to splurge on yourself. Johnny's prices goes up every year rightfully so the costs to run it probably do as well! I love this Resturant and stop by religiously

If you guys want to enjoy with your family, friends or couple a nice afternoon or night and you guys like sea food you can go to one of those restaurants located in City island. The one all the way down its so nice and no expensive with a beautiful view to the sea đđ đđŹđĄ and no only sea food lol what ever u want to eat I guess lol

Take a walk down the main strip , you will find the friendliest people . Pop into the Black Whale the lovely outdoor garden serves great desserts . The starving artist cafe has live music , jazz , blues and ,,, The focal Point Art Gallery feature local Artist as well as many others meet Ron and Susan and there dog Monita . They have a unique gift shop . There are many Restaurants to choose from but none like Arties Steak & Seafood the food is amazing ! The locals all gather at the bar , it's a great place . Papa Johns Deli should host a comedy show you never know what you will see . Take a trip it's worth it .

Other than some of the best seafood around, not much to see or do. Some restaurants better than others. Public bus from Pelham Bay station of the 6 train does go. Nice to walk the main strip from end to bridge to see the little shops and small museum. Parking would be tough any time of year if not eating at a resturant.

I love taking my granddaughter to city island there are plenty of restaurants to choose from and they are all delucius

This is the place for seafood. Seafood restaurants everywhere. The competition between them must be fierce because each one that I've been to pours it on.

So nice! We'd never been to City Island & we were staying in the Bronx. The hotel recommended goijg to check it out. What a great little town. They said it was busy in the summer but it was still pretty to see. Most of the restaurants were open & walked down to the water which was a gorgeous view. Had a great lunch while we were there too. Can't go wrong with a visit to City Island!

When you on this island, it feels like you are in a beach town. The restaurants are great with fresh seafood.

Delightful place to spend a warm afternoon. Wonderful restaurants, beautiful antique and gift shops. Magnificent view off the end of the island.

Quiet, nice, n clean place to eat n enjoy.will be going back again with the family to tonys pier i love their piĂąa colada.

Johnnies Reef. It may be fast-food but its really good. The clams on the half shell are COLD and fresh. The soft shell crabs are great and there are 5 on a plate, unlike any sit down tablecloth restaurant

Basically one Main Street. There are lots of restaurants, some shops, boat yards, etc. it doesn't feel like the city and is a great place to visit. When you get to the end of the island, you have a great view of Long Island Sound and Johnny's is a great place to eat outside. You order your food and drink and take if outsude to eat.

Had lunch at Johnny's at the end of the island. Food is cooked fresh to order and it was a beautiful day. Midweek is less crowded than weekends.

I loovvee cominh here in the summrr time. Love the steam talapia , with butter & garlic. Also the fried fish with french fries & pina coladas . Yummmyy

This is always a place to visit, to take a walk, go into the small shops or antique shops. Seat with friends have ice cream or grab a bite to eat. Every year through out the summer I go for a visit, and take my family or friends who have never been there to eat. Itâs also bus accessible if you donât have a car.

City Island is a gem in the Bronx. Get away from the hustle bustle without traveling a long distance. Great food, go for a stroll, take a break from the stress of NYC.

I have been going to Tonys for over 15 years! Before, and after the remodel. The food is great! sit either indoors, or outdoors. Place can get packed at times, but with food like theirs why wouldnt it be? I recommend it to everyone! Enjoy

City Island has a lot of pretty fine seafood restaurants, but, I always choose to go to the local's favorite Artie's . The food and service is over the top. I have never been disappointed .
During the summer, the weekends are always very, very busy. I usually go during the week when the crowds and traffic is manageable.

Many places to eat. I prefer The Lobster House. Plenty of scenic restaurants. It was plenty of budget places as well as ones with plenty of ambience.

There are fast food establishments at the end of the island which many who want a quick bite go to,and there are many where reservation is required.
Both are good. Always like going in the summer, so do many others.
At times on the weekends in the summers, traffic is horrible to get over the island. Sometimes between 30 mins to hour to get over the one bridge leading to all the sea food restaurants.
Overall, good.

Many restaurants to choose from on the strip. Friday - Sunday you hear the motorcycle pipes roaring by. Almost all of the restaurants have valet parking, you can park your own bike and take your keys. Just tip the valet for watching your motorcycle. Many restaurants have outdoor dining.

If there was just one great thing about city island that would make you say "that's why I like coming here and I don't mind the traffic , I don't care that the bronx crowd is loud, I like my seafood extra greasy and tasteless............" but there isn't, and even the views from most restaurants is Not beautiful rather old broken boats in neglected marinas,

City Island is a tiny island off the coast of the Bronx but you would swear you are in a small New England fishing village. The views from the bay are breathtaking on a warm clear sunny day and the you can feel the salt air in your lungs as you breath it all in. There is a lot to do and see on the island for the afternoon.
There are any array of restaurants to choose from with some offering deep fried seafood to Mexican and Chinese restaurants that offer alternatives. There are small parks, a nice shopping district with some interesting stores and views of the bay and of Manhattan that are amazing.
There is the City Island Nautical Museum that is a quirky little museum filled with the history of the island that should not be missed and tiny sandy beaches to pass by. There are several historical homes to pass by and the neighborhoods are fun to walk around and just see the old homes and the Americana streets. It is like visiting an old New England fishing village.
You still know you are in the Bronx by the people eating in the restaurants as the streets are clogged at night with people coming to eat here. Still it is nice to visit the Promenade at the top of the island and just sit and enjoy the views. It is a nice way to spend the afternoon when you want to get away from it all.

One of my Favorite things to do with the grandchildren. We frequent there a lot we all love sea food! I personally like Johnny Rief, it's kid friendly, and the food is tasty!

City Island is THE place to visit if you're a seafood lover. This whole little island has an myriad of seafood restaurants to try out.
When visiting you have to at least eat at one of Sammy's restaurants, I personally recommend Sammy's Shrimp Box (some people prefer Fish Box, to each it's own...). Also a real go-to place is Johnny's Reef, it's a cafeteria style restaurant but the food is good and you get a lot for your money. A similar joint is Tony's Pier which is literally across the street from Johnny, same deal except their fried shrimp is better, but the fries sucks (sorry).
Such a great area to visit during the summer, it's very beautiful and quiet where you forget you're in the city, especially when you see a deer! Also Orchard beach is not that far, but please go in the water at your own risk!

city Island is a Icon place to visit, very popular in the summer time.
it is well known for all its seafood restaurants.

You must bring yourself over to City Island. There is plenty of restaurants that serve any kind of seafood that you could think of and in any which way you want!!!

Come here for lunch or dinner and dessert! Bring your camera to take a few great photos near the water and selfies while eating your yummy food! It can get super packed at holidays in spring and summer go on a weekday if you can.

seafood, sailing, walking, biking, what a fun place to visit. be careful, there is a temporary bridge to the island with sharp curves on each end.

Awesome place for a midday brunch or romantic dinner. Seafood preferred, but great steaks as well. A hidden Bronx gem!

City Island hub of seafood, if you love seafood the you are truly going to the right place for the right seafood.

They give you so much food and the ribs are the best I've ever eaten. The garlic bread is to die for also. You will love the Crab Shanty I've been going there for years.

All restaurants are pretty good in city island
Is family friendly during the day. At night you can go and hang out with ur friends at sea food city

Excellent fried shrimp at Tony's Pier with a nice view I've been going there almost my entire life, for me it's a quick little escape out of the Bronx Johnny's Reef at the end the food is always great and Just really relaxing. Summer weekends are a nightmare, but If you love seafood this is the place for you.

Great place to go when your in the mood for seafood there are many restaurants to choose from from formal to relax attire from expensive to inexpensive the whole family would enjoy

The best seafood on city island. Atmosphere real cozy and the food is plenty, impossible to not take a a "doggy" bag! Shrimp Fra diavolo is the the truth!

Love Sammy's. Full disclosure, I don't eat seafood. However I've taken several people there for graduations and birthdays. Out never disappoints. The portions are huge and that's after a table full of freebies like delicious warm Italian bread, antipasto and salad. The drinks are also good. The me u is varied and the service is good. No one I've taken has ever not raved about the seafood. It does get crowded and is a little loud bit it's fun for celebrations and groups as well as couples. I recommend a.c. reservation although that does not guarantee you'll be seated right away. Very popular spot. They have 2 locations, across the street from each other, both great.
Lobster box also good. Artie's is ok.
Plan ahead when visiting City Island during holidays and summer as the traffic to get into the small island town can be quite a wait.

My boyfriend and I went for lunch for the catfish platter. The food was plentiful and so delicious. You have to see and taste for yourself. That is going to be a monthly date and can't wait to go back soon.

A quick little escape out of the Bronx with the calming sea air and tranquility. Just really relaxing and a great place to select from different restaurants for great dining experiences. Whenever I get the chance I definitely will return as I've been going there for about 5/6 years now since moving to NYC.

Ok. there are a lot of really really good seafood restaurants here. I love to go to Johnny's Reef. There is something great about eating with your fingers, on the sound, watching the gulls go nuts and having a very cold beer. Just worth it, sit and enjoy. Besides the food is fast and delicious.

if you allergic or don't like seafood don't even come on this island. Otherwise you seafood lovers will find a hard time not finding a spot where you can't find some good seafood and a good drink. All ages are welcome as well as all budgets you will find and love something

This is my favorite restaurant on City Island! Delicious food, great service, amazing views. Affordable.

Awesome island awesome food. This is seafood paradise n I recommend it to all. My favorites are Sammys, Ohana's, Don Coqui

Are you looking for a variety of seafood options within New York? Well City island is definitely where you should venture to. Our family have been going to City island for years and we have enjoyed many of the restaurants along the city island main strip and some off of the strip.
Generally, if we are interested in picking up a quick meal, we generally venture to the end of the strip to Sammie and order a pan or crab and shrimps for the family.
Definitely a must go

If you worked all week in the Bronx and need a break, try a peaceful day trip to City Island. We visited this quaint village on a dreary Saturday afternoon in April. We strolled down the main street and were able to see water on both sides. We went in and out of several little antique shops, art galleries and gift shops. I recommend Kaleidoscopes for unique items that will make great souvenirs of your trip. We admired the boats in the marina. After enjoying the beautiful scenery and watching boats sailing on the bay, we enjoyed a fabulous meal at Sammy's. We ended our day with a visit to the nautical museum. It was a perfect afternoon.

Stayed when visiting relatives who live here. Love it's old style charm and beaches and look forward to returning one day. Often used for location filming due to its untouched charm and amazingly only a short train ride from downtown Manhattan. Absolute gem of a place just 2 miles long and with a lovely collection of shops and restaurants. Houses are typical timber framed with picket or wire fences and porch swings. City Island we â¤ď¸you!

Been visiting City Island for over 70 years. Latest visit was to winterize our boat. Lots of good restaurants. As good or better than some much more expensive in well known New England seaport venues. Crowded on weekends especially on hot summer evenings. Great views of the City lights. Great jumping off point for trips out east on the Long Island Sound, around Manhattan or up the Hudson. Easy access via busses from Pelham Bay station (last stop on the "6" line.) Very close to Orchard Beach, the Riviera of The Bronx.

Went to the end, restaurant on right, food is good, not oily, you can sit outside without the seagulls bothering you. Adequate seating in and outside. I think the name is Tony's

I like it there, me and my family love it there, we love the food and the environment, for families with children the better time to go there is a noon because at night is a little bit crazy (summer) loud music and alcohol.

We love City Island especially every year we go there to Jp"s to the left when you come across the little bridge the place is nice cozy romantic the food is amazing the people are so nice so make sure you come to Jp's tell them Honey sent you enjoy

If your a seafood junkie like myself, This is the place to eat. There's a restaurant for everyone's budget and you will eat great in everyone. Just beware the weekends are crazy. So I go dung t week.

Love this place have been going there since 2008. Food, vibe and people are great! We go there for everything lunch, dinner, birthday, graduation or just to get out and the prices are fair

On my way there they were so excited about this place and how "great it is" Insipid is the word for the seafood. Fried everything, cheap seating, nothing impressive to me. All hype, no hope.

I visited City Island a few times, usually on foot from one end to the other..
It retained a past era quality, the 1950s, very quaint, peaceful..
One end had a french Inn " Le refuge", previously a private home, view over the marina.
There are amazing little boutiques, with korky items for sale, & quaint cafes in the center, & the famous sea food restaurants at the far end, some quite cheap

A great place for a family style seafood dinner. We always go to Sammy's at the end and have always left happy and full.

Best time to visit is in the fall, mostly quiet passed the summer traffic. Great for walking, eating, and near by beach

City Island is where to go for every reason. It's warm, it's packed. Reminds me of fisherman's wharf in San Fran. Don't come for the latest gastronomy it's not here. Heavy food and heavy drinks. The lines are long The traffic is crazy somehow it's all worth it.

The town is quiet but unfortunately we can not walk by the sea because houses on the edge of the.
Beautiful view of manathan but unfortunately for us it
Wasn't nice that day

Visiting City Island was like going back in time. Away from the hustle and bustle of New York City even though its a part of the Bronx but unlike the Bronx. It was more like a small New England type of nautical town.
We sat and felt the cool breeze coming off the bay, the houses look like small town houses with clean and neat yards. The area was very quiet and the people where friendly.
The seafood spot that we visited has been there for 70 years, Johnnys Reef and the fried scallops and shrimp was good. If you want to do something different on your visit to NYC take a side trip to City Island, you will enjoy it!

I've been visiting city island all my life. Always a good time and great seafood. Pick from budget or more upscale restaurants to enjoy great seafood and hang out waterfront with friends and family.

Donât bother going to City Island (CI) during the off-season because itâs a ghost town. The main reason to go is the seafood and there are plenty of restaurants, but thatâs about it. Main St is very congested and traffic can be horrible. So, go for the food but thatâs about it.

Recently did the full Mosholu-Pelham Greenway from Van Cortland Park to City Island (22 miles R/T). I had read about City Island and always wanted to see it. Went on a weekday, so it was not crowded at all. The one main street is very interesting with lots of shops and restaurants (many at the far end). We did a few side streets down to the water and the old houses with beautiful back yards overlooking the bay and the NYC skyline were very cool to see. We had a great late lunch at the "Shrimp Box" where we ordered at an inside window and they brought the meal out to us in a nice tented patio area. It was hot on 6/1, so we were glad to have the cover, and a place to park our bikes. The Shrimp Box food was very tasty and plentiful and we would highly recommend them. We didn't see any beaches, but the bike ride through the island was great. City Island is not exactly Nantucket or the Vineyard as some reviewers have suggested, but rather a funky, fun get away place that is an interesting visit for everyone- don't miss it!

Arties Seafood one of the best seafood places on City Island. King crab legs to die for..
Many other dishes are just as good but I recommend the crab legs with melted butter.
Yummy

City island is a really nice place to visit in the Bronx. There's plenty of wonderful restaurants there, although I usually only frequent one or two. Seashore or Johnny's down at the opposite end. Come with your family or your friends have some food, have some drinks, hit Pelham Bay Park or the beach and just have a nice hang out.

Excellent would recommend it for family & first dates , very impressive , you man will go far after this dining experience !!!

I love the fresh seafood and chance to sit by the water and relax while eating a tasty meal - 20 min bus ride - Bx29 from the #6 train at pelham bay park

City Island is a little corner of the Bronx where you can find an array of seafood restaurants. It's the place to go for a romantic meal to just a night out with the girls. There is a spot for everyone. From Sammy's dine in experience to Tony's Pier all the way at the end near the water for an outdoor feel. Don Coqui which turns into a lounge after dinner; music will flow from the DJ's speakers.
Take a trip to the Bronx and check out this gem!

It's an easy trip from Manhattan to the sleepy village by the water. Good food, friendly folks, sea air.

City Island is a little diamond hidden away in the Bronx. Once you cross the small bridge leading up to the island it's almost like being in another costal town. There are many restaurants and options for those who like to go fishing. Not to be missed if you're near Pelham Bay Park or Orchard Beach.

I have never gone to City Island and been disappointed. The fish is always fresh and plentiful. Whether I go to a formal sitdown or an informal take-your-order-and--find -a-seat restaurant. This is a lovely place to relax, celebrate or just have a seafood meal.

This is a nice spot to just go and relax in the summer time take in some good seafood and drinks. I recommend Sammy's fish box for some good lobster tails.

Great place to eat seafood and take a walk. minutes away from orchard beach. Its like a little New England town right in the Bronx.....

Great Place to enjoy all types of Seafood. All sorts of family and romantic restaurants. Great tasting foods. A must on a to do list.

This place is certainly authentic and has plenty of locals, but really not much to see here. The restaurants are pretty old school, lots of fried stuff. A good value if that's your cup of tea. Watch out for those seagulls!

Fantastic all the seafood you could possibly want!! I love it been there 5 times in the past 2 weeks

If your looking ro have night out with friends city ilands rhe place great food, drinks and entertainment you wont be disappointed. Also with family or couples night or day its an experience one should have.

went a few times during bike rides. I now bring my sandwich - i just don't care much for fast and greasy food

City Island has some of the best seafood restaurants in NY. The seafood is fresh and prepared in various ways. City Island also has Italian, Japanese, American and Carribean eateries. Pick the restaurant and you won't be disappointed! One piece of advise, if going during the summer go early or you will have wait or make a reservation!

Sammy's is awesome with 2 Resturants of Yummy Seafood. Tony's Pier located end of Pier Great Food and Scenic Views!

Many restaurants, from budget-conscious, to an couple dollars for two. You will find all kind of variety of food. Indoor dinning and out door. Great little shops and gallery. Some pub's, ice cream shop.

Fun to walk around even with most things closed. Nothing stood out as great but a nice area to spend a couple hours. Worth an afternoob

If you have time to wait to get to the restaurants here then you may enjoy your time. There is nothing to do here but eat at the restaurants for seafood and other food. Seafood City and a few other locations have seating outside and overlook the water. Thats a nice atmosphere. Best time to go for that is the warmer months. Go with cash because some places don't take credit card.

When I went to City Island, I went to eat at Sammy's. You don't need to have a reason to go, just go and have a great meal. You will not be disappointed. It was a "Just Cause" kind of day. Easy to reach even by public transportation.
Food is delicious and service was good. Sometimes it gets a little busy so you have to call out to the waiter, but they do come when you call. Very pleasant wait staff.

Good place for seafood and just to enjoy the salty atmosphere.
Truly unique part of the Bronx and very close.

I went to City Island to eat some good seafood. I decided to visit the new Tony's Pier. I was so impressed on how great it was and the food was delicious and was in abundance. This is not a luxurious restaurant but if you want good seafood and for a cheap price you should visit Tony's Pier. Drinks are just $6 and I paid $30 for a big tray of food.

Many seafood restaurants to choose from on this quaint island in the Bronx. Other cuisines also such as Italian, Chinese, and there is even a French Bistro. A nice place to spend a day walking the length of the island and look out onto the sound, Hart's Island. And Orchard Beach, part of Pelham Bay Park, is nearby, a lovely place, to walk, swim, sunbathe.

I walked the length of the island for some exercise. Not much to see on the way but lots of restaurants. The ones at the end were cafeteria style and less expensive. Loved the oysters on the half shell.

Don Q Restraunt on City Island is a fun and happening place mixed crowd of cliental. Portions are large enough for 2 people, be prepared to pay 100 plus easy for 2 people. (My Bill was 190 for 4 people). After a certain time you have to pay for Valet parking. Evening could quickly add up $$ for one night. I recommend the Peni with
Rice and Peas ( Gandules). Over all a fun place just make sure you bring$$. Also be aware tip is included in tab 38%.

Great restaurants, from fast food seafood to sit down elegance. I have eaten in at least 12 restaurants on the island. Just restaurant after restaurant - from latin to asian to italian - seafood everyday you can think of.

Awesome food, go enjoy the hot service and food. Atmosphere is nice and family oriented. Come on over.

I had a great night with my friends stopping to get some shrimps and drinks during my bachelorette limo party before heading out to party. The pina colada was so good ! The fried shrimps was amazing đ¤

IT's a nice view as it's something different than the rest of the city. It's good to change it up and go there once a while. I haven't been there this year

Best seafood I've had ever and lots of food left to take home. The atmosphere was intimate and the service was very good

I highly recommend taking the trip out to City Island. Amazing fresh seafood... Unbelievable delicious lobster and shrimp... Beautifully chosen wine, great atmosphere.. absolutely one of my favorite birthdays!

A small island not well known, only a couple of miles long. There are a lot of small beaches at the end of each dead-end street up and down the island, and an endless selection of seafood restaurants the entire length of main street. During the summer I imagine this spot is packed beyond belief given the number and size of the restaurants, and parking is probably very limited. There was a nice quirky toy shop we visited with a lot of memories from yesteryear.

I was looking for good place for my birthday when my teen son got many restaurant on line in city island.
Let me tell you guys, I will never forgot that night. It was Italian restaurant. Iunfortunately I don't have the name in my mind. Anyway, it was amazing.
By the way, I also been there this year on May.(mother day).
I promise to let you know the restaurant name there are too much restaurant over there.
Nice play to visit.đ

City Island is a beautiful tiny island which is an unexpected surprise in the Bronx. Has great restaurants, and the flavor of a New England village.

As you travel over the historic City Island bridge you are transported to a different time. Yachts, boats bob in the water, the harbor lights are an inviting beacon. The smell of the Long Island sound permeates the air, as well as the mouth watering seafood. From the very beginning of the island to the end there is something for everyone. Seafood City for a quick bite. No muss. No fuss. To Crab Shanty and the $18.99 lobster special. Sammy's with it's whimsical and charming interior and on point food. To Johnny's and Tony's at the end of the island with the best views of the water, you can't go wrong with a trip to City Island.

There's different restaurants that serves great food. My favorites are The Crab Shanty and Sammy's. The drinks are delicious and the views all the way at the end is a amazing.

Great to run away and grab some fried seafood when that craving hits! Johnny's etc. Sit indoors and eat or outside and enjoy the fresh salty air. Relaxed atmosphere.

We love City Island and have been to a few of the restaurants but our favorite no frills family friendly place is Johnnyâs Reef! The only drawback to City Island is the traffic during the summer, itâs a nightmare! To combat this we just take public transportation and go for lunch not dinner there.

Management and staff was great.
Parking not an issue, valet parking.
Great food. Drinks at the bar reasonable.

SO many restaurants to choose from! Chinese, Italian, American, Seafood, Dessert....you'll definitely be satisfied. Restaurants all the way down the main strip.

This is a Great place to relax and enjoy sea food And a few drinks. There are so many restaurants that there is a price point for Every one.

city island is a very family friendly place, great food great prices too.The only thing is that on a holiday it back up in traffic. but I say iots worth the wait

Looking for a lunch seafood place and it came up on maps.
We ate at a place and then took a drive down the main drag. Didn't have alot if time to spend but we will return to spend more time here. Neat little town not too far from the big city. Can't wait to go back.

Best seafood restaurant on city island. Reasonable prices try the barbeque feast for 2 cant be beat spare ribs, roasted chicken , lobster . Fried shrimp, snow crab legs.

Bring an empty stomach, lots of patience, an open mind, an attitude of self-service or the choice of being served, and then select the best place for you, friend, and/or family to enjoy a great meal. City island has many restaurants and meal options. Enjoy!

Just driving through the main road through the little island next to Orchard Beach and near my favor subway station (Pelham Bay Park) and a hop from my favorite shopping mall by Coop City. Lots of restaurants with plenty of seafood to choose from.

I usually visit Sammy Fish box and love to order the shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. It is very good. It can feed three people. I also love getting their mixed drinks, its not watererd down like some establishments. I feel I get my moneys worth everytime I visit Sammys.

While either visiting or dinner, City Island has the feel of being in a New England coastal town without leaving the city. The many restaurants have a variety of choices, but if you love seafood this is the place. Just be aware that is can get very crowded summer weekends and major holidays, give yourself extra time.

We go to City Island often because we live so close...we were there for Father's day and we ate at the Sea Shore restaurant. Always a family environment the service is fabulous and the food is always on point!!! We have been eating there since 1983!

Both my husband and I have been visiting here all our lives. It is an amazingly quiet little (REALLY-one way in/one way out!) fishing town on the border of busy NYC and the sleepy suburb of Pelham Manor (Westchester County.) There are a number of older sit-down dinner establishments with consistently good grub (Artie's, The Lobster Box) and there are a few newer, edgy additions (Don Coqui, Ohana) which seem to focus on a lights! Camera! Action! Experience. For my money though the recently renovated Joes located at the farthest end of the island (Main St) on the right side serves up excellent fish fry's right on the LI Sound with no frills & no over priced / overrated predictable platters. Try it any day BUT Mother's Day - you'd need to set out by bkfst if you want to arrive by dinner thanks to that pesky one way in/one way out road.

An alive and unique experience can be had. Walk the streets and enjoy eclectic nature of the community. Lots of restaurants to eat seafood. Usually crowded.

City Island is basically in New York City yet it feels a million miles away. Wonderful fresh seafood restaurants and eclectic local shopping are part of the charm. The views from this peninsula are amazing; especially of the White Stone Bridge and Manhattan.

City Island is the Bronx little secret. If you like seafood this is the place to be. They have restaurants is to choose from. My favorite is the Blue Whale.
Nice cozy place. The ambiance is so cool. If you do go you will agree with me.

Ate at the Lobster House and it was fantastic. The wait staff were all great and you do not leave hungry!

Treat yourself to lobster after a day on Orchard Beach or a visit to the Barlow Pell Mansion. Drive over a bridge, and you're in another world of seafood restaurants, cute shops and a maritime museum. A nice surprise in the Bronx.

Since it was an unusually warm day, went to City Island for dinner. as a lovely drive and then dinner at Lobster House. Very nice way to spend a Sunday evening.

Located near Pelham Bay Park, in the Bronx, this idyllic island is famous for fishing, boating and dining at the numerous restaurants that line the main street. Of course, the main specialty is fish and seafood. Most of the restaurants offer huge platters that you can't finish in one sitting and are expected to take home for a second meal.
There are a few less formal cafeteria style places to eat near the end of the island.
Getting to City Island is not that difficult. Take the #6 train to Pelham Bay Park, which is the last stop. Then take the 29 bus going to City Island. It goes to the end of the island and runs about every 20 - 30 minutes.

I have been to City Island multiple times within the past few decades, but yesterday was the first (1st) time that I went to this place for the past seven (7) years. City Island contains a myriad of restaurants, and there is a huge concentration on seafood. It is a safe island with multiple panoramas of the various waterways that surround it on every side. Many boats can be seen in the plethora of marinas. This area is easily accessible from Interstate-95 and from Pelham Parkway; I would state that a person should just be prepared for horrible traffic and for aggressive driving en route to City Island. Orchard Beach is also very close in proximity to this site. There is a lot of street parking, and many of the restaurants also have their own parking lots. I enjoyed taking a walk on City Island Avenue, which is the Main Street.

Visiting my Mother -in Law in the Bronx, along with a host of other family member. Went to City Island to enjoy the view and restaurants there. We had a great time. Decided to eat at Sammy's Fish Box. Made reservation while we waited for the rest of the family to arrive. Food was excellent, portion size where huge although at a premium. One of my favorite spots to visit. Recommend highly.

it such a nice summer place to be in the evenings. sitting by the water watching the sunset with inexpensive food and drinks. the atmosphere is busy but its all worth it

Quaint. Nautical Museum. Seafood, Italian, French restaurants. 3 Yacht clubs. Many marinas and boutique stores.

Do not go in summer months Unless you want to risk your safety. Other than that the restaurants around there pretty good on the food taste pretty decent. If you do decide to go in the summer just be cautious and be aware tha fights will break Out and it usually involves knives and guns.

After the beach i like to go to city island they have a selection of seafood restaurants and my favorite is at the very end and it's drinks are the best and great on the poxkets

I always wanted to go to that little island community since the movie City Island with Andy Garcia. Every street was fenced and you could not get by the water. The street were not clean as we walked along. We ate in the Lobster box and it was good but costly. It was not what we expected of the town.

I visit family and find new gems each time. Drive slow please or thane the bus. Lots of quaint streets to walk on and lots of seafood restaurants

A dwindling seafood atmosphere several moderately priced establishments how ever at the end of the road to the east you may find outdoor seating a fast food concept that's tasty not over priced not earth shattering but just worth the time. 1.25 oysters. I am not saying the others are not worthy because they are.

You have a variety of seafood restaurants to fill your food palette along with a family atmosphere that is good for the whole family.

If you are visiting CI Arties is a must. Best Italian food on the island. The service is amazing and the chicken parm is to die for. Don't miss out on this gem.

Great seafood up and down the Island. Some places better than others. In the summertime especially on a nice night traffic is sometimes a headache.

We were introduced to City Island about 20 years ago when our son moved to nearby Riverdale and started dating a girl (from Wisconsin) who had moved to City Island, and we fell in love with this glorious place! Our son and his then girlfriend/now wife have since moved on....back to our son's hometown in Upstate New York, then to South Salem in downstate New York, and now Boyds Maryland....but we still go to City Island several times a year, winter and summer, to walk around and enjoy the sights and shop in the magnificent little stores like Kaliedoscope and dine at the wonderful seafood restaurants like Sammy's, Sea Shores, and JP's. If you're ever "in town" during a production of the City Island Players, you're in for a real treat as the productions are local theatre at its finest. And if you really want to experience City Island without going there, there's a movie on DV that was filmed there and is a wonderful introduction to the beauty, charm and friendliness of this little gem.

The biggest gripe I have with city Island is there's only one way in and one way out and during the rush of hungry pedestrians, the traffic does pileup rather quickly. Once through the traffic, there is such a great variety of seafood restaurants. I've tried so many and haven't had a bad experience yet. My favorite will probably be Sammys fish box as they always get the catfish just right.

This place itâs good for ages itâs famous for its fried sea food you can eat outdoors and enjoying the weather, they have some good shrimps

City Island would just be another New England coastal village if it was in that region. But it really stands out in the crowded Bronx. A peninsula, it has many good views. See and learn about Hart Island, just to the east. Many of the restaurants are for tourists, but the Black Whale and a few other local spots are worth a visit. Be warned: traffic is heavy on beach weekends.

Born and raised in Da Bronx, if your stuck in Manhattan's high prices on vacation and want to get out for the BEST sea food dishes high end and family prices take the #4 Woodlawn train to the Bronx get off at Fordham road catch the City Island bus which is a half hour scenic trip over the C.I. bridge ask the driver or anyone on the bus where to get the best food and they'll say "Start at the end of the line and work yourself up! LOL

They have amazing food and your able to go and just have a drink bring your hookha and sit their and enjoy

What ever restaurant you choose, the food is great. My favorites are the Lobster House, Sammy's Shrimp Box and the Sea Shore.

I grew going to City Island every summer on weekends. Great food and a beautiful view. There are many amazing restaurants from a low budge to high end. Nice bars and shops. This is defiantly a place you need to try.

City Island offers you a multitude of restaurants to satisfy your love of seafood. You will not be disappointed. I suggest Seafood City as it is right off the bridge and parking is ample. Needless to say the food is outstanding

City Island's great attribute is that it's about the most un-city like place in New York City. Not at all urban, and not even suburban, it is a genuine throwback. While it likes to boast of its many seafood restaurants, I've yet to find one that is truly top-notch. Recommended, however, are the maritime activities - boating, fishing, etc. and the rather quaint, almost rural atmosphere that pervades. In addition to those seafood places, I would check out Bistro SK, the only French restaurant in the Bronx.

The place to get fresh seafood. If you're allergic to sea food but you love it, I sincerely don't suggest you go, you'll end up eating sea food, It's that good.

Visited City Island. Nice get away. Several restaurants and shops. A friend ate at Sammy's and loved it. Thinking about trying it next week.

I took the kids here, when the we're young and we had seafood. We enjoyed it and they are apreciated the area.

Really enjoyed visiting. Lots of great little places to grab a bite to eat. The beach is okay but it works.

Great day trip if you live in the city to grab some fresh seafood.
Not a ton of opportunities on the island for scenic views beyond the restaurants. Wouldn't go too far out of my way to visit but definitely worth a bus trip for lobster tails!

Been coming here since a kid! For good seafood in the bronx its a must! Now I love Tonyâs all the way at the end the shrimp is just the best! They do have a great selection of seafood but thats just my go to $18 amd you get fries with it. Now if you want to be fancy then go to Sammyâs.

I have lived here and it is so pretty in the Spring and the Fall. The restaurants such as JP's, The Black Whale and Tony's are among my favorites. Riding a bike and walking from here to Orchard Beach in the Spring and the Fall is great fun.

This is a great place to visit and dine! It is hard to believe that you are still in the Bronx. There a variety of Dinning style with the Seafood flare. I was just there myself last weekend. During the warm weather they run a free trolley over the weekend.

Oooooh the fried jumbo shrimp.
My life is loaded with idiosyncrasies...but here are some of the things I must have while at Sammy's....the Pina Colada ...Lobster tail, Snow crabs and jumbo shrimp on a bed of yellow rice...if you're into ribs thats a slam dunk...dont forget get all the yummy fixins... the wedge cheese, warm toasty bread and yummy salad all hits the spot everytime....if it were my last day on earth thats what I would order.. oh and a side of Prince may he rest in Peace. Love ya

Great food, great service, clean establishment, quick service, and ample seating. I always enjoy eating here

Come have some seafood, enjoy the local theatre group's performance, go boating. Visit Orchard Beach which is nearby.

Love City Island. My husband and I was there yesterday. March 14, 2016. We ate at a restaurant called Crab Shanty. The food was excellent and the service was amazing. The only down side is that it is basically a one way in, one way out. On the weekends the traffic is so heavy sometimes, it is not worth it. Forget special occasions like Mother's day or Valentines Day etc. It is a nightmare to get there and waiting for a table can take hours. But if your'e a seafood lover nobody does seafood like City Island.

I Have Been Going Here Since I Was a Kid City Island Is a Very Special Place For Me Not Only is The Food Great But The Mood Is Nice Too I Had A lot Of Good Memories Here This Was My Favorite Place To Go With My Ex Highschool Sweetheart đđ City Island Had The Most Gorgeous View Of The Ocean And You Can See So Much Its Incredible I Went To Almost Every One Of The Seafood Restaurants On The Strip of City Island I Can Say I Have Never Been Disappointed đ Overall Sammy's Is Good Quality Food With A Nice Staff But So Far Tony's Pier And Its Next Door Neighbor Keep Being Number 1!!!! Just Because Of Its Joy Filled Environment And Great Food (BE PREPARED FOR LONG LINES) đ

There are numerous seafood and, Italian, Spanish restaurants on the island that make it worth the trip. The island itself is an old fishing port and does retain some of that charm. The side streets are filled with old houses and quirky streets that are an authentic and pleasant departure from other commercialized seaport areas around the region. If you are going by car on a Friday or Saturday night plan on at least 20 to 30 minutes of travel delays because there is only one road in and one road out. You will move, just slowly. You can see the island with no delays or traffic curing the week or during the day on the weekend.

Sammy's fish box take out was very expensive and the fries where not done. I would not visit this particular take out spot again.

This is the best restaurant for the money. The food is exceptional and more than enough. Myself, daughter and her friend went out for the day and I suggested Sammys. Well they were more then thrilled because they know how good the food and services is. We left with our stomachs full and left with an doggie bag as well.

Not a place for kids or family meal, a place for easy pick up of strangers. The managers allows the music to be played so loud that it is difficult to have a conversation. Bathrooms are disgusting. I can only imagine how the kitchen must be. And valet parking only.

I'm surprised that there's not more road-rage incidents here. The traffic is horrendous, and if it weren't for my favorite restaurant, I'd never go back to City Island.

While down the shire in Wildwood we enjoyed delicious seafood dinners...but living in the Bronx we dont have to make that 3 hour trip with City Island right in our backyard.
Living in Country Club in the Pelham Bay area, City Island is a quick ten minute ride to a charming seafaring town. There are many wonderful seafood restaurants to chose from and its great to know that everything is so fresh.
Walking along City Island Avenue there are a number of little shops that have interesting items for sale, as well as a museum, and the beautiful Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea. Sailboats can be seen off the coast of City Island bringing their carch of the day or taken passengers for a cruise on a beautiful night.
To end off the evening desert would be great at the Black Whale, a City Island landmark. If you are in a hurry Lickety Split has some delicious ice cream treats.
It work the trip.....but from Thursday to Sunday its good to get an early start.....so why not start with Sunday brunch at Bistro SK where you are met by ownwrs Stephan and his beautiful wife, Maria......its like being welcomed into their home......prices cant be beat and the meal......manifique!!!
Definitely worth the trip!

Best seafood ever!!!
Book early, arrive early.
Tables fill up fast and there's a long wait time.
Serene atmosphere. Perfect for long dinners.

Best place to eat shrimp is Sammy's, I usually order 7 shrimp with fries and a pina colada, the best the warm bread and butter is awesome, never ever left Sammy's ever not stuff, would recommend to anyone who wants to eat fried shrimp

A great hidden gem that is no longer hidden unfortunately! Too many cars and too many people on a holiday weekend kill the charm of this place .

New York City is one of the most diverse places in the world and City Island reinforces all that is great about NYC! A little fishing town in the heart of the Bronx. My wife and I love this place.

Because we LOVE to 'get away' and come here. We just love to park (but beware there are many no-park zones!) and walk these unique streets. At the end of every side street there's a private beach. You can approach and enjoy the views. There's also a new little park overlooking the "Potter's Cemetery" island. They say the seafood and Italian food out here is amazing but honestly we just come to walk and relax. It's an incredible place for that

It's a beautiful scenary out here and many different food options as a bonus it is easy to find parking

I understand the City Island is an Island. I drove several time in different visit but I could see the complete view to the water but only from little space at the end of the City Island AVE. I drove in this street from the beginning to the end which over 2 mile. I could not set down and enjoy the water view from any spot. It could be exist but I drove all around and this small spot was the only place available for us.

If you want to know where you can get the best seafood anywhere, you must come to any one of City Island's best restaurants. You will never be the same.

always a go to place for me and my family for any occasion, birthdays, graduations, moves, retirements, etc so many selections

Itâs a long strap with a whole bunch of seafood restaurants some with water views. The beach isnât that appealing so donât go for that reason in my opinion. There are a lot of seagulls but the restaurants there have some good eats year around. I particularly like it in the summertime but itâs open year around.

I never get tired of visiting city island, itâs such a great place to visit and eat sea food. I took my daughter for graduation and I took my granddaughter and best friend for lunch. All the restaurant are good and kid friendly. I always stop at the end just to look at the water and all the sea gull looking for food. Near by there is also Orchard Beach, which I visit every year. The Pelham Bartow mansion is also near by. Itâs also a beautiful place to visit. You can visit city island by bus or car.

Beautiful, calm, town to go relax, walk around town, eat great seafood. Streets are nice and clean. People are friendly.

So many boatyards, so cool a place, wonderful restaurants, great people, be sure to take out a boat and go fishing.

There are a variety of restaurants that serve good seafood to meet all budgets. Great place to go in the summer with family and friends.

When you think of the Bronx borough, one can not mention City Island. The variety of seafood restaurants is amazing and a perfect place to enjoy with families, couples, or friends. You are not too far away from Orchard Beach as well if you wanted to walk. The only down side is in the summer months, there is typically a bunch of traffic for entry and departure.

City island a finger panisula off the parkway on the way to orchard beach..cute little side streets Marinas and tons of restaurants... A seafarers museum and miniature golf course...fun day trip have a lunch..

If you love seafood and a view of the water there are many restaurants in
City Island that you can dine at. Prices range depending on where you eat, but the food is delicious. After parking you can walk up and down to see which restaurant you would like to dine at. The are also a few very good restaurants soon as you cross the bridge to your left.

My go-to destination via bike paths from mid-Bronx. New bridge connecting the island with the mainland allows for safer travel by bike. Plethora of great seafood restaurants as well as a few very good alternatives for Italian, Japanese, or deli choices.

City island is a must to come eat . I grew up coming out here to eat and watch sunset from the restaurants at the end of the city island . The main road which takes you to some of the best sea food you will ever have in your life if your from NY lol. I can't say I'm the world because nothing beats the carribean đthere are. There are numerous activities in city island ,besides binging on seafood đyou can go horseback riding , fishing or even rent a boat and spend the day on the Long Island sound . It's a great place to spend with the family DURING THE DAY ....after 7 I would say no good for families . It's a great hang out spot , date ect . One star taken off for the late nite brawls, it gets crazy at nite đ¤Ł

I live not too far away and LOVE this area. Restaurants go from casual to fine dining. My favorite cheap eat spot is Tony's Pier which is at the very end of City Island on the right. My other favorites are Crab Shanty, Artie's, JP's and Don Coqui.

Excellent fried shrimp at Tony's Pier with a nice view. Summer weekends are a nightmare going on and off the island. All other times well worth the trip.

Love this place...seaside quaint town...thats part of NYC...a must visit. Several different restaurants adding to its seaside charm.

I go here all the time, great food of all kinds, donât forget to visit Johnnyâs reef and crab shanty!

If you ever want to get far away from the city, come up to a quaint New England fishing village within the confines of NYC. It is City Island in the Bronx. It has everything; Art Galleries, Theater, Quaint stores excellent restaurants, Boat yards and great views

It's very dirty. It is an island gone bad, full of rich, greedy, and rude people, with lots of empty stores, and angry, yelling đ people.
I tried to walk the beach. The owner told me he owned the beach and 250 feet into the water. It was a day of stress and disappointment.

It is the first restaurant on the right as you get onto the island. The food and service was excellent. The servers do not rush you while dining. The drinks were reasonably priced. Can see the city light if dining out on the rear area.

Unless you've been here, it's hard to describe how you feel like you're in small town America and, at the same time, a small seaside village but are actually IN NYC. City Island has great restaurants, antique shops, as well as boat rentals and fishing excursions or you can just stroll down the ONE main street containing all these attractions. When you cross over the small bridge separating City Island from the rest of NYC, you cross over into a entirely different experience. And right next door is Orchard Beach that borders Long Island Sound. Enjoy!

Almost like a trip to New England. Picturesque and very walkable.. Large choice of many excellent eateries for a meal or a snack. A relaxing day.

This is a great place to get away from the city without having to travel too far. It's like a mini vacation without the hassle of travel.

City Island does not feel like it is in the Bronx, or New York City at all. Wonderful seafood options, lots of water, and a cute maritime museum. I just wish it was easier to get here by public transit.

I love the small shops with unique gifts. The restaurants are varied and delicious. I stay away on weekend nights just because I don't like traffic. It is lovely on a week day.

City Island, New York is a unique place. It is hard to believe that you are actually in New York City! You can go to any of the numerous restaurants that are right on the water.

Beautiful little CROWED place in The Bronx. Great Seafood! Great to just get ice cream or something and take a walk down the main street. Parking can be tough- look on the side streets.Weekends very busy-AVOID Mothers Day -unless you want to sit in traffic for 2-3 hours.

Delicious seafood at various prices. Different types of restaurants for different types of moods. Always a great place to eat.

An article in a national newspaper said that City Island was like a piece of Maine in NYC. As someone from Cape Elizabeth, I had to see what they mean. What it means is the writer of that article has never set foot into Maine. It's a pretty spot but there is nothing there even remotely like New England. You have to take the subway all the way to the end and then take a bus to get there. Not many people are out and about and it was a hot day in the 80s. I don't see the attraction.

One of the most popular spot in the Bronx, the food is great you can go from very expensive to affordable. Try the one at the end, outdoor eating space and simple menu options. Great date location.

Yes great and awesome place. Love getting my shrimps from there anytime. I nice place to be with friends and family. Nice place to visit, very friendly as well.

There are so many restaurants to choose from on this wonderful strip. All seafood is fresh and tastes great.

We decided to take a staycation to City Island . We had a memorable dinner at Sammy's Fish Box. We were seated immediately the children enjoyed their free coloring books while we waited for dinner and to our surprise they had free face painting for the children as well. They say they have this every weekend for the families ! I noticed many families celebrating all kinds of occasions. They had balloons and there was lots of laughter and singing going on. The feast
Platters were both astounding and delicious. The Pina Coladas were the best we ever had. So over all if you are looking for that special spot for a family gathering you will Love Sammys Fish Box.
Plenty of free parking . The perfect get away close to home . They are open all year round and with late night dining Can't wait to go back with friends for a late night date night .

Great place to visit. Great food. You need to go to City Island Lobster House. Great food! And visit the General Store in town center. Amazing eclectic antiques. A must see!

Excellent food and service. Entrees are plentiful and enough to take home. We always have the shrimp with baked potato and vegetables and the broiled red snapper.

It's for all family to enjoy and eat a lot of sea food and drinks, and just look out into the water and have a good time!

This is such a nice place in the summer. The food is good and views are great. People from all over come here for food and fun.

Small island at the tip of the Bronx jutting into love ng island sound resides an amazing place with a bunch of very good seafood places and a community of interesting people and stores. Several hundred years old with an eclectic history it is a gas. Great choices to dine on super fresh sea food.

A unique island community just 1.5 miles long and 6 blocks wide. New England is the unofficial capital. Its rich nautical history is carried on by the local craftsmen who build world class racing yachts including all of the Americas cup winners.
Easy to reach by subway #6 train to Pelham Bay and transfer to bus #29 to City Island.
Well worth the time.

Such a great and quiet place out side New York. Great place for all the seafood lovers.
But I don't recommend going there on Monday. We rented a car and drove from Brooklyn and everything was close. Even people told us that today we can only see the view and eat.

This would just be another seaside town if it were further out into Connecticut. But after the congestion and even distress in much of the Bronx, it is an oasis. Many of the touristy seafood place are over priced and just average, but the Black Whale, with the feel of a charming old inn, is excellent.

City island is a very crowded but nice place to visit in the summer. They have many good restaurants on the island, but if you do go to City Island I suggest trying Scavellos on the Island. The food is always delicious and is always consistent.

Some of city island restaurants are wonderful but some are not worth the trip or money. We went to sammys for dinner and the food was ok. Yes the portions are large but the space is extremely cramped, and overpriced. It was clean and friendly but we won't be going back anytime soon.

Sammy's is one of the best restaurants on city island would recommend to everyone good food good portions

City Island is beautiful and is a secret scenery in the Bronx. To me the best place is in the back of Orchard Beach on the Rocks. You can view Queens Bridge and Glenn Island Park.. It's nothing but Ocean, Birds and Peace.. If you ever get a chance please visit take a bottle of wine with a blanket or a mat and just pray. It's very peaceful.

Have visited several restaurants in the area. While some offer great meals, most are overpriced and the seafood is not fresh.

Surprisingly most New Yorkers have not been here or have even heard of this place. This place is quite a gem in the Bronx. You cross over into a completely different suburb like island surrounded by restaurants at every corner. Typically I love visiting the less fancy places like Tony's all the way at the end of the main street. I love their seafood, their Henny coladas and just to sit out doors. It is really popular in the summer time. A lot of the other places serve great food as well, but beware they are pretty pricey. I guess that is the price for fresh seafood.

Visited city island many times (countless times). There are several places that are worth seen and to dine in.
Sammy is a good place with plenty of food and good flavor as well as good atmosphere.
Crab shanty is good.
But, my favorite place is The Lobster House. There you are treated like at home.
Sorry, better than home "you don't have to do the ditches".
Food is great and there Lobster Bisk soup is phenomenal.

City Island used to be great for fun sea food and that harbor town feel but it's gone down hill in the last few years. You can still get a great cone at Lickety Split (SP?) and the Black Whale is always great for a nice meal!

It's hard to believe that this out-of-the-way strip is in NYC; in fact, part of the Bronx. It's about as close to the edge of the city that Coney Island is in the opposite direction. If you drive without traffic, and that's an impossibility from Coney Island to City Island, it would take you two hours and you'd be in the City for the whole ride. 30 to 40 years ago City Island had the most outstanding seafood restaurants in New York. Several restaurants still exist, but the quality of the food is barely acceptable. The Island is isolated, run down, but still has a few docks and boat repair places. It is a unique place to ride through and ponder that you're in the Bronx.

If you love seafood, this is the place for you.
From the very high end restaurants to the inexpensive yet very popular Johnny's Reef at the end the food is always great. It's also a great place to sight see and relax in nice weather.

I love city island. The sea food are good and the river from is my most attractive thing. I will love it.

Great Fresh seafood at so many restaurants from top dining to casual summer fun food. Fun desserts ! Sit at waterfront restaurants and eat the freshest most delicious seafood and /or fabulous Italian. Want a burger or a hot pastrami sandwich? You can get that too.
Always a fun time.

Lobster House is definitely one of my favorites. Please give it a try. I promise you will like it.During the summer you can sit outside.

Alway enjoy eating at sammys, the food is so much and tasty. The wait staff are wonderful. They make very good drinks too, and they have plenty of parking

I love going here. We enjoy the food and just looking at the water. I like to go early because it can get pretty chaotic when it gets full.

johnny's reef is our favorite.the food is good and our grandchildren love feeding the birds. always enjoy jonny's

A tiny little beach community in the middle of the Bronx. Stop in for a true "down the shore" feeling - great sea food, fun shopping, and plenty of sea gulls. Whether you like cheap fried meals on an outdoor picnic table, or finer sea food dining, this practically one road town has it all. And great views too!

Great food and servce. Beautiful view and the freshest food ever. The calamari, fresh oysters, pasta everything was divine

Less than15 miles from Manhattan but a world away. Even a secret to some native New Yorkers! You'll feel like you are in a small beach community with access to excellent restaurants and a few cute shops and galleries. Highly walkable and accessible by public transportation it's a great escape from any part of NYC. Very nice maritime museum, small theatre group, and acces by bike or walking to the largest park in NYC Pelham Park. Also close to Orchard Beach, NY's real Little Italy, The Bronx Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Great for a mini-vacation. There are places to stay listed on Airbnb.

The Maritime Museum will bring you back to the origin of City Island. Many facts and photos up to the present time. Very interesting if you enjoy history. We ate at the Lobster House and enjoyed the Sea Food. Excellent wait staff and the prices were reasonable for what we ordered.

City Island is known for its many seafood restaurants and its a must to visit if you are in town or a native of NYC. But one of its hidden jems is Lickety Split, this tiny ice cream shop offers some of the most delicious ice cream in NYC. If you want to cool down from the summer heat and listen to the live music which plays next door to the fire cream shop you must head to City Island and try Lickety Split. You and your youngsters will not be disappointed and the visit will leave you wanting to return for more. #Lickety Split #City Island

I took my wife on a fishing trip down in City Island. It was her first time in City Island, but she loved it. It's truly a beautiful area. There's also plenty of options to grab a bite to eat. Also, check out the numerous charter boats you can go fishing on!

Very relaxing, tranquil, and a nice spot to unwind and release. Gaze at the waters and the structures by the Long Island Sound. See the bridges. Frequent the restaurants and shoppes, come here to be free. See the birds...

On Saturday, March 31, 2018 my family and I decided to visit City Island which is located in the Bronx. When we arrived at City Island we didnât know which restaurants to dine. We drove all the way to the end of the island street. However, we couldnât make your mind so I suggested to eat at Johnnyâs Reef Restaurant. I was hungry for the snow crabs legs. There are sufficient parking right next to the Long Island Sound. The night air is cool with the full moon glistening on the wave of the ocean water. My family and I watched the wave rushes to the shore with the sounds of the wave. This was cool because it was comforting to see a full moon and hearing the music of the sound. Once we all went into the restaurant there was âNo Seatâ because itâs a Easter Holiday. But luckily, a group was leaving and we got seating. The food smell really good and I order my crab legs. Once we all ordered we all sit down to enjoy each other. The menu at Johnnyâs is sufficient. You can order fried shrimp, fried fish (vary selection) French fries, salads and other food. You can have fried or steam food depending on your choice. Also, they have dessert and different beverages to suit individual taste including alcohol. At Johnnyâs Reef there are so many choices to choose from the menu and this is a family friendly Restaurant. Therefore, the restroom are located outside where the parking lot and most of the time it is kept clean. So, if youâre ever in New York City drive up to the Bronx to visit City Island, use Uber or Lyft, or public transportation. The public bus is the BX29 at Pelham Bay. There two BX29 buses. One that goes to Coop City and the other to CITY ISLAND. Please make sure the bus say BX29 City Island. The fare is $2.75 round trip. Pelham Bay MTA public transportation is upstairs. The train is number 6 train. If you are coming from Lower Manhattan or Midtown Manhattan take the 6 train to LAST STOP in the BRONX then transfer to the BX29 downstairs to City Island. Enjoy!!!!!!!

dont permit cars on the island! traffic absolute nitemare, best to take bus. dont even think of going there on a holiday unless you sleep in your car and leave at 3am to get there by dinner time
while island is beautiful and scenic restaurants are too over priced, small portions. i have yet to meet an impressive staff or at least one worker that was impressive.
they rush you in and out!

The best medicine for a trip is good attitude, it come alone way plus bring you good luck.
Food, drink, amazing.
Good place to inspire yourself visit more location.
New York is a great city in a lot of places to discover. Take the chances you will not regret.
Talk to people you will learn about another one and bill new friends,

For a person who loves seafood i think its a nice play to go out and hang out and eat seafood especially in the warmer weather

As part of my Big Apple Greeter personal training, I'm exploring and mapping out tours of fascinating places in New York City.
City Island is totally new to me, and I've been travelling up to the Bronx to put my finishing touches on the end product.
Now all I need is a Guest who would like to visit this wonderful slice of New York City life.

Crab Shanty has always been one of my favorite restaurant in City Island, and it still is 20 years and counting
They have the most yummy garlic bread, the staff is warmn and inviting, and the food is always great.
Can't wait to go back.

I discovered City Island one summer during a 'stay'-cation for our family. I went with my kids it was fun for them to sit outside and eat with their fingers while hearing and seeing the water near-by. My parents-in-law also came along it was pleasant low stress and affordable. It's small enough to be a quick visit and cute enough to really feel like you've been 'away' to the beach. MIght be a challenege if you are a vegetarian or vegan but the fries are always yummy. There are also art galleries as well, cute houses... so pretty.

I have been to Seafood City in City Island, I love the simplicity of the place where you can sit outside and view the ocean on a sunny or summer days.

I love being on City Island, I just don't like driving there. One way in. One way out. In beautiful weather, it's like commuting to work. Yes...it takes that long. Worth the drive for sure!

It is a different world in NY. A place to walk, eat fresh fish or oysters, and spend some time just in a relaxed mode.

Best place to get your seafood craving satisfied. Many places to choose from to enjoy the delicious seafood.

The food's very good. Some waiters & waitresses have got to go but both Lina and Tara are great! The lunch lobster special's a good deal.

This was our first visit to City Island. It is a cute little island filled with great places to eat. We ate at Don Coqui. It was nice having a view of the Long Island Sound while we had dinner. We will defiantly be back.

We went there for dinner. City Island is too busy on weekend but it is clean anyway. My kids like to walk around. It great to visir

great little new engalnd style fishing village filled with wonderful restaurants at all price lines, with great views of Manhattan while you dine

This is my favourite spot in the Bronx. Alone or with friends family, date it feels like cape cod and surrounded by water and boats it's lovely "escape".
Fried food or grilled fish, great sushi place or a good Italian pasta, great choice for the picky ones too.
It's not Michelin dining but a relax traditional Bronx experience

Tiny island off the Bronx coast with restaurants, fishing tackle shops , boat rentals , and charter boats. Looks like a quaint little New England style seaside village.

While City Island is a seafood restaurant go to place, It's a nice community to stroll on the Avenue and check out the little shops. For casual dining, Johnny's Reef at the end of the island for fried seafood (always fresh, no nasty oil taste) and for a special night, Artie's; it not just Italian Seafood.

Tony's at the end of the strip has the best shrimp. You can also eat outside by the water. They recently added ice cream and donuts for dessert. Sammy's Fish Box has great food but it is much more expensive. You may reserve space at some of the restaurants for any occasion.

This is the place to be in the summer. Seafood lovers have a variety of places to eat and the view of the bridges are breath taking....make sure you visit, ESP cool for date nights.

While the day was overcast n gloomy on our way to this restaurant for the first time this gs took a sunny turn when we arrived. The dining room is upstairs in a beautifully appointed room with large window where u can see the neighborhood. We were greeted by Jose who had a semblance of a Maitre'D but was our server also. He was very friendly and professional in his manner and stylist clothes. He suggested the Malbec from Mendoza Argentina which was excellent. The grainy rustic bread was warm with an artisan taste. The menu is quite extensive from Italian to Meats and Seafood. The Lobster raviolis were excellent. The Chicken Parmagian and Red Snapper were excptionally prepared. I had succulent come off the bone baby back ribs on a bed of Garlic mash potatoes that rival any rib joint. Coffees and dessertwas a great finale. I am anxious to go back since noticed a brick oven for pizza on the ground floor in a nice space. Do not know when it will open. They need to become handicap accessible since you have to climb stairs to the ornate dining room. Worth a visit to get away from the frozen seafood served by most restaurants on this island.

Go to Crab Shanty you won't regret it! Fresh hot seafood as well as Italian dishes. Drinks for everyone's taste.

This was a great experience especially with the variety of restaurants available. We went to Tony's Pier restaurant which was excellent. Any type of seafood meal you order here will be good. I tried the fried porgy, and I enjoyed it very much. This was actually our second time here as we liked it the first time and decided to go again. Now what comes after a good meal... dessert! There is no place to buy dessert along the avenue except for Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins at the very end of the road. We were looking for an ice cream place but could not see any. Suggestion: Open a Dairy Queen or similar sweet spot and it will do very good, I am sure. A frozen yogurt place will also be nice for the summer days. The view here is worth the trip and we found it very relaxing.

Had lunch at Johnnies with group of friends. We sat outside, sunny beautiful warm day.Got to see boats on the water. Loved the seafood, which can be fried or steamed..

Jump aboard a 6 train to the end of the line at Pelham Bay Park, then board a City Island bound BX29 bus to the last stop and visit Tony's Pier for some great fried shrimp and oysters, from there you can stroll the main street or catch the bus again and explore NYC's largest park.
Along the way you'll get a deeper perspective of NYC and its people.

Once you enter City Island you have so many choices to pick to eat out. I for one enjoy eating at Sammys. For fast food I enjoy Johnny or Tony's at the end of the road, because in city island it's only one way in and one way out

Pretty island, easy to reach by bus 29 from Pelham Station. Fisher Island, very different from the rest of the Bronx. Sea food restaurants to choose, stores, very touristy place. Would be back again just to walk and feel the sea breeze in that peaceful place in the middle of the madness of New York. Recommended to have a relaxing evening.

this nice small town, on the Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, it is a perfect destination for seafood lovers

City island is definitely the place to go if you want good seafood.
There is a whole bunch of restaurants that have seafood ranging In different prices and different settings and atmosphere for families, couples or even for children.

Plenty of places and price ranges to choose from. Sammy's of course is a standout and places like Seafood city have something for the whole family.

City Island has lots of boats all around it and is close to Orchard Beach. Although it is the Bronx it's laid back and relaxed. Many sea food restaurants.

Visited city island to walk around and visit some of the local shops to purchase wines and enjoy a nice dinner at the local restaurant. The people were very nice ans very accomodating.

This island off the coast of the Bronx has a small town, fishing village feel. Great selection of restaurants that specialize in fish and seafood.

Made a reservation for 4 people for 7PM arrived at restaurant only to find an overcrowded mad house checked in with hostess for our reservation and was told there would be a long wait stated I had reservation apparently it did not matter spoke to owner all he had to say was reservations would not be honored. there was a 2 hour wait upon herring that from the owner we left. went to another place on city island called scavello's no wait and the food and price both excellent

Great place to dine and date. Place is awesome and we had a great time. I recommend it. Would go again.

The changes in City Island over the past 5 years have made me avoid it. The construction on the bridge, the restaurants that try to be 'clubs', the traffic........

JP the bread and ribs are to die for the service is so good when you walk in you are greeted with so much love

City island location offer many different locations to eat with family, date night or just trying to get something quick to eat

We had never been to City Island before. It is a mix of old and new with stunning water views. We were staying in Manhattan and our bellman said City Island is the place for seafood. He was correct.

City island is a little g e m in the Bronx it has so many seafood restaurants Italian food Spanish food it has it has a beautiful view of the Long Island Sound it has fast food it has and ice cream place on the island is so cute is for lickety split it is beautiful it's one way on one-way off the best time to go is during the week if possible so we can throughout the summer is very packed very crowded the traffic can be quite overwhelming if you go during peak hours which is Saturday and Sunday holidays anytime after 12 p.m. you will be miserable the food is worth it though my favorite place on the island is the Crab Shanty they have the best garlic bread if you want great big portions of seafood then you might want to check out CMEs but there's so many other restaurants to check out most of them have really good food I've been to most of them being that I am a native New Yorker yeah yeah

There are great restaurants on this little island which overlooks the Long Island Sound. You will find that it is crowded in the Summer on Friday and Saturday nights. Any other time during the summer except Holiday weekends it is well worth the trip. If you have not been, it is a must see. You will not believe that this is place is in NYC. You will also find that the Spring and the Fall are also good times to go as well.

Food was excellent and nice đđ˝ portions my girlfriend was very pleased đ with the service and the food

We went to Sammys Lobster House for an anniversary dinner and received excellent service. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. The drinks are great and the food scrumptious and worth the prices they charge.

The best place to live and visit! It's near to everything, public transportation, great restorant a and above all the amazing view of the ocean overlooking manhattan!

Not a fan of City Island. This place is way overpriced. Several restaurants all selling the same dishes. Some places have valet parking. Not a lot of places to park. I'd avoid this area if possible.

Mention the Bronx and chances are you'll think of a noisy, congested area of New York with elevated trains still rumbling through and major highways cutting off one neighborhood from another. If you were to close your eyes and taken to City island, then allowed to open your eyes, you would think you are in some small coastal village, on a little island filled with delightful seafood and Italian seafood restaurants - all good, my favorite being the Crab Shanty. But you are in a remote section of the Bronx, and perhaps one of the truly hidden gems that New York has to offer. In summer, you might want to make it a full day in the area, as Orchard Beach and Pelham Bay Park are close by. Public transportation will get you there but I recommend going by car - most of the restaurants offer free parking.

Almost any restaurant on the island is good but I especially like The Shore. Great bar and special Antipasto can be served at the bar while you are enjoying the scene and conversation. Great lunch menu and so affordable. Great service. You can sit outside in the summertime overlooking the ocean bay. Great afternoon or evening. When you have finished your meal you can browse around the quaint little stores or go have some ice cream on the avenue. If you have the kids you can go to sea food city. They have an arcade for the kids and the food is priced right for a family. Big turnover so the food is so fresh. City Island is my favorite all around place in the Bronx.

Convenient to NYC, Westchester, and Long Island, City Island is a delightful family-friendly escape to a heaven of restaurants. Each eatery competes with all the others to offer the most quantity, and the greatest quality for the money. Fun for families and friends digging into oversized helpings of seafood, salad, soup, sides, and desserts.

City Island is its own little world in the Bronx. It has fantastic views of the bay including Manhattan, wonderful restaurants and an interesting little museum. The main street, City Island Avenue is where all the shops, galleries and restaurants are located.
On a warm summer day, it is a nice place to visit and just relax. There is so much to do and see and then stop for meals.

MANY good places to eat from white table cloths to benches-Parking is easy but sometimes slow traffic makes parking a chore

Wonderful little `Cape Cod' in northeast Bronx. Only one main street in and out. There are several seafood places along the way. The Marina is there. As a youngster learned to sail there. At the entrance is Orchard Beach surrounded by Pelham Bay Park - which is so big you could get lost.

we wanted to decompress from Manhattan, so we used MTA Tripplanner to get us to City Island. We were amazed how much it reminded us of our trips to Cape Cod--lobster rolls and sea air and marine vistas. It is quiet and that is what we wanted. Lots of good sea food--fancy or plain.

I have been coming to City Island since I was a kid, and it never gets old. It represents summer. Of all the restaurants, I prefer Johnny's -- the dive at the end -- because the food is good, and it doesn't claim to be more than what it is. That said, the other restaurants are good as well.

I love city island the people are friendly, the seafood is fresh and inexpensive. They have the best small ice cream shop. Do not come here for fast food because there is not any fastfood restaurants. Bring the kids, the dogs and spend the day.

Just enjoying the food and atmosphere by the water. Always a quick getaway from the "City" part of the boroughs.

There are wall to wall Seafood Restaurants here on City Island. I prefer the City Island Lobster House which is off of the strip, nestled all by itself on the water. CILH houses a Marina as well, and features outdoor dining in the Summer. Great food, a terrific owner makes for great dining every time. My favorite meal there, believe it or not, is their Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner. It is terrific! Joe-Joe's sausage stuffing, damn it, I look forward to eating it every year. All portions are huge and come with salad and delicious garlic bread. I have also had the Alaskan King Crab there and it is always great as are the live lobsters.

Great place to spend the day, during the summer months it is always best to get there earlier than dinner time traffic can get a bit hectic. Prices are good, food is deliciious
city island - over rated
No place for locals. Never go on a holiday - you won't be able to get off island for a long time. Food just okay
