My son had surprised me with renting a nice size pontoon boat (provided by AOS Marina) and fishing on Lake Marburg at this state park. My wife and his girlfriend joined us for a terrific day on the water, taking it easy, had some lunch and getting a little fishing done. It was an absolutely perfect day. Thanks son.

My father used to go to Codorus State Park once a week to watch and then count the birds (bluebirds in particular) for the Audubon Society. He loved to walk around on the trails and watch and listen for specific birds. It's always been a favorite place of his to spend a lazy afternoon. Codorus not only has picnic tables and grills so you can have a fun picnic time with your family and/or friends, but there is a huge lake there as well. Naturally, they have tent, RV sites as well for camping. You can also rent paddle boats or canoes and even sail off into the sunset! There is also a nice, huge pool if you want to cool off on a hot summer day. Every summer they have a dog agility competition--dogs jump out into the water to see who can jump out the furthest and other such competitions. This is loads of fun. I LOVE dogs, so I love to go to that and enjoy petting all the dogs all day long!! They also have Golf Frisbee---you throw a Frisbee and try to hit a "tower" that is set up at various places around the park. It's fun and you don't even realize that you're getting exercise when you walk from one "tower" to the next. Always have a great time anytime we've gone to Codorus! A fun day for everyone!!

Most people just drive thru project 70. Lake Marburg is the result of an Army corps of engineers project to create a water supply for the growing surrounding towns including Hanover, Pa.
Plenty of hiking trails and activities. The lake supports most boating activities as well. Fishing canoeing, kayaking etc.
be sure to stop at the store and look up the activities.

Codorus State Park is located in Hanover, PA. It has excellent places to fish and plenty of space to put in a canoe and relax on the lake.

What a great park. The park rangers helped me find a good hiking trail that would also offer me sunset views. There’s so much to do and explore here. I love it

Wonderful place. Beautiful view. However, my only complaint is that the trash should be collected more often at the marina area.

It is a really well kept park but the hiking trails are not that well marked. There is boating, playground for children.

This is a huge park with something to do for everyone. We rented a pontoon boat and cruised the lake which was relaxing and fun for everyone. Last visit went to a back access area where you can launch a boat. Apparently there is an eagle's nest nearby that has a live cam on it. While we were wading, an eagle flew near by much to our surprise and delight. The eagle came back at one point and landed on the shore where it proceeded to walk into the water and fish. I've never been so close to an eagle in its natural setting so that was a real treat (and blessing) with our parks under threat of closure from an administration that does not value our natural resources. But I digress, sorry.
You can play just about any sport, picnic, find shade or sun or just walk through nature.
Beware the rip currents from the dam though as several swimmers have drowned recently underscoring how dangerous this lake can be.

Very pretty park wrapped around several small lakes. Has horse trails, boat ramps, marina, and of course hiking trails. Very well maintained. Went there on a weekday and it was still fairly busy. A little too crowded for my preference.

Excellent campground, but no one does the speed limit. All the vehicles drive through the loops doing 25 pr 30 mph. Scary.

Very peaceful serene place to visit. Not enough people enjoy this great place. Great place to have a picnic and enjoy the day with you family. Can walk around the lake with your family or just sit back and soak in the sun. If you like boating rent a boat and take your kids. There is also a swimming area and birdwatching area. There are some areas that are not dog friendly but the marina area is. I had to pick a date to fill out the survey but I have visited this place many times and have never gotten bored with it.

This 1.5 hour ride on the pontoon was fantastic! So relaxing. There are only about 9 people on the pontoon. That is a plus! The volunteer that spoke during the tour knew the history as well as the flora and fauna of the area. Plus she made it so interesting. To find information on this little known gem, you must go to the calendar of events on the Codorus State Park Website.

Every time I visit I find new places to explore. Lots of open space to walk. Trails to hike. Rent a kayak or pontoon. Fish along a bank back in a cove. Spot a variety of birds. Beautiful trees along a sparkling lake. Plenty of places to sit and admire the lake or have a picnic. Play disc golf, too. Did I mention the nice public pool? Campground facilities, too.

I was week two into a month long vacation traveling around the country. Since I was sort of "winging" it, I could not find a camping spot in Gettysburg and found one in Hanover. In order to get to the campground, via gps and locals, I could only get there through downtown Hanover. If you have a larger rig, you might as well just forget it, it's a nightmare. Streets were VERY narrow with cars parked on one side. The signs to the campground were awful. There was not a distinct entrance, looked more like a work road. I visited with the young lady at the entrance and she was very very nice, but admitted that the directions and signs were awful. Additionally, my rig would not fit into what they said it would. I was able to find a site with no trees in full sun that I was told, "No one ever wanted those." It was really a stop over for Gettysburg and only about 20 minutes from downtown. Park appeared to be nice but was not worth the headache of trying to (1) find it (2) get my rig into a site. I ended up going out a back road out of my way to avoid going back the way I came in.

We enjoyed a week at the park, fishing, boating and swimming in the pool. We rented a lodge but there are camping spots if you prefer.

The pool was awesome. The little kids loved the water park, the older kids loved the slides. Plenty of grills for having a picnic. The view was so beautiful. Sitting at the pool watching the boats skim over the lake was a picture perfect view. There is no fee to picnic and enjoy the park. There is a fee for the swimming pool, but well worth the money.

Located east of Hanover and Gettysburg, this park has a water park, trails, and camping. The modern campground is large and the sites are fairly close together. It's not a place for solitude.

It is great place to go for a walk and take in nature and enjoy the views. There are all sorts of areas for fishing, hiking trails, camping area, swimming areas, and more. Well worth the time to look into and go visit, you can't beat free for most of it, you will have to pay to go swimming and camping but still worth it.

I love the atmosphere here! My family and I plan a few picnics here a year. We've kayaked many times and has become a favorite activity among us!

This is a great state park and very under utilized during the week...which means it's also very pleasant. Nicely kept trails and pavilions. I kayak on Lake Marburg and take advantage of keeping my kayak on site for a reasonable fee. There are kayaking wildlife tours on Wed and Fris at 6 pm and sunday morning at 8 a.m. Great fun and all of the equipment is supplied. Great picnic areas...well worth a visit. Mostly free--camping and kayaking have fees if you are part of a group.

Stayed here Labor Day Weekend on the recommendation of a friend but found out they did not tent camp but rather stayed in their all inclusive RV. This is a lovely, convenient campground but if you are tent camping (which we were) be prepared for mosquitoes, noise across the lake from the main road, sites on the side of hill (read un-level sites) and a long walk to the bathroom. Definitely attracts and is set up for RV than tent camping but clean with several family and fun activities. Lovely day trips to Gettysburg, Snyders, Utz and historic train ride in New Freedom as well local kayaking or biking.

This is a great state park to visit if you love the outdoors and are in the area. There was lots of trails, look out points, and disc golf. There are wildlife areas for enthusiasts to meet, and there are several bald eagles that live nearby. The public pool has just been upgraded and has always been clean when I've visited. There are lots of picnic areas (tables and pavilions). The only reason I didn't give five stars is because there is a limit on the size motor you can have on your boat, so there aren't a lot of people that come in from out of town for water sports like tubing, waterskiing, jet skiing, etc. Also, take heed that since this is a PA state park, alcohol is prohibited.

Have visited the State Park pool many times over the years. It's a large pool that can handle many guests. They also have a separate kiddie pool. The locker areas are large. They always have lifeguards on duty.

I live about 15 minutes from here and I absolutely love driving through here, taking pictures, walking around and just stopping to take in the sight!

Attended an outdoor wedding reception here. The park is huge, covering a large area with all kinds of access to water front and grass and fields. I did not see playground type activities but lots of nature fun - and a frisbee golf course

Multiple options at this park, including 2 disc golf courses. We always enjoy our time here, whether just as a single, couple or family

We live 10 minutes from the boat launch at Codorus. We kayak and cook out here often. A Very well kept park. They don't have many grills for cooking so always be prepared if it's a holiday weekend. It is nice that the picnic tables are far enough apart so u can get privacy. They welcome dogs as long as kept on leash. Cheap for kayak permits (10 for a year) there is a two year kayak permit that is maybe 18.00....I'd check the website. The Codorus blast is every year for three days in June. Always a nice time, small, but fun to watch dogs, eat and see fireworks, visited by mostly locals. There are horse trails and hiking trails that R well kept.

Codorus State Park is focused around a very large, pretty & clean lake which offers good fishing, boating (small engines only, very popular w/ kayakers, rentals available). There is no public beach, although wading is permitted, and the park has a big swimming pool complex. Very nice campground, numerous disc golf courses, some hiking trails and mountain biking trails. It does not have any must see special attractions but is a pleasant, usually un crowded place to relax and enjoy nature

We were visiting some factory tours in the area and we were looking for a place to picnic. I looked up online and found this very nice park only a little out of the way - that was beautiful, clean - bathrooms were decent and there were activities - boating fishing swimming if you were inclined. We just enjoyed the picnic area. The water views were beautiful!

Wife and I love it here. Have been here too many times to count for family reunions, fishing, boating, hiking, camping, enjoying God's beautiful creation. Pristine and beautiful and home to nesting active Eagles :)

There is a ton of stuff to do at Codorous! Camping, Hiking, sailing, frisbee golf, picnics, and much more! The park is well kept and has a spectacular lake view.

a great family outing site for all . a natural state park in mid beautiful Pennsylvania . lots of fun activities for the children and adults . Park well maintained and managed. Hiking , swimming , and bbq areas available.

My husband and I like to go to Codorus pretty often. We usually bring a picnic lunch. We go to view the eagles nesting, to cool off in the water when it’s hot, or just to commune with nature. The park offers trails for horseback riding and biking, paddle boats, motor boats, disc golf, and plenty of space for everybody. Great place for kids of all ages!

We have a boat at the marina at cordorus and we love the lake for boating but it has gotten so crowded on the weekends so we try to do our boating during the week that is a little more relaxing!

So there is no confusion,I love Codorus state park. The Marina is a different story.Visited park on Monday the 25th of July ,around noon looking to rent a boat. Last year I loved doing this and loved my Veterans Discount.Upon entering the marina I said my sister & I are looking at prices to rent a boat and I have my military papers for a discount. The young man behind counter teenage I believe, handed me a card with price list for each boat,he stated no military discount or any discount. I asked why,he said the Sheetz family owns it now. We looked at prices, my sister said maybe pontoon boat,i thought we should have something smaller. He said they had V bottom boat and a bass boat V BOTTOM $32.00 1HR / BASS BOAT $35.00 1HR. I said we will look at them and decide, We came back in and said we would take the bass boat. I inquired about lifejackets/and said $35.00 first hr. He says no price is wrong on the card he handed me $52.00 1st hr(remember he stated prices before we went outside to look at boats) I said we just talked about prices he said the fine print at the bottom states prices subject to change, I stated back just like that he said yes! I hate any kind of tactic like this! My sister and I are seniors and he had another young man there with him agreeing with his statement. I will not be renting any boat here anytime and they control all the boat rentals in the park ! I will be still using the park for fishing and other things , I will never recommend using boat rentals anywhere in the park , you will never know what charges they may come up with.

From fishing to kayaking and horseback riding, you can do it all in this wonderfully well kept State Park. There are even bald eagles that fish and live here year round. Multiple boating ramps and a camp ground make Codorus State Park a great place to visit in the fall. The leaves change usually in late October so be sure to bring your camera.

We spent an afternoon here recently, drove around the park a bit (a large state park - pool and waterslide look nice, and saw some disc golf - but didn't do those things), and rented a pontoon boat on the lake for part of a day. Note that you're not allowed to swim from the rental pontoon boats, a restriction that I've never experienced with a rental boat in a lifetime of boating. The rental office is decently stocked with everything you'd want for a day on the water.
The regular rental pontoon looks to be a 20' boat with a partial canvas and an 8 hp motor. The first one we were given didn't start. The second one we were given ran fine (FYI - 20' pontoon + 4 adults + 8 hp = probably 8 mph, top speed), though it was a bit dirty and wet from having been rained on the night before. This boat was not refueled when we left the dock, so it conked out on the other side of the lake...
On the upside, the lake is surprisingly beautiful, a good size lake with clean water and pretty quiet, though fishermen/boats are in seemingly every cove you want to explore. Note there is a 20 hp restriction for boaters on this lake.

This is the local State Park of my sister so I'm sorry to say that I don't have very many positive things to say about it. I will begin with the positive: beautiful lake, modern and wonderful pool although absolutely too crowded on a summer weekend. We were staying in a cabin at the campground and visited the pool on Friday but after seeing the Saturday crowd, we did not attempt it. Cabin was comfortable and clean and the fan that was provided was a nice touch of comfort on a warm night. The campground was nicely shaded and was host to many family groups that made us miss our grandchildren who live too far away to join us frequently.
Sis and her husband had joined us at the cabin and we were having conversation and enjoying the cooler night air outside at the picnic table before calling it a night. About 10:30 a car (park rangers or police?) stopped just down the road and exited the car at a neighboring campsite. Of course we were curious about their reason for the rather late visit. Our conversation was paused while we listened to the conversation (interrogation?) that was taking place. A woman from the car said rather loudly that there had been complaints about noise from that campsite. Truthfully, the only noise I heard was the barking of two dogs coming from the sites reserved for pets and the loud talking of the ranger or whatever that person was. A few minutes passed and another car arrived that very evidently was the local police or sheriff (from town). Eventually, the :law enforcers" left and the night sounds could once again be heard. The next morning we asked the folks at the campsite beside us what they thought had taken place and their reply was that the family across the road had been harassed by the nighttime police nearly every night since they had arrived; one night because the children were still playing after dark catching fireflies and another night because they and another couple were sitting by the campfire having conversation.
Although we had a reservation for another night, we cancelled for Sunday night and went to my sister's house on the other side of town. I cannot imagine what had precipitated a noise complaint on the night we were there. Of course the four of us might have complained that the intrusion by the cops interrupted our peaceful visit with my sister and brother-n-law. Regulations are necessary but zealous enforcement rarely is.

We took a group of 12 for their first try at camping and had a blast. Many were apprehensive about sleeping outside due to bear and insect fears. But, they overcame fears and even interacted with a few spiders. Everyone was nice and for the most part spoke to us in passing. The bathrooms were very clean and the trails were great. A few campsites were majority slopes but we made the best of it

I've been there more than once, with my grandchildren and without. We played on the grass, had a picnic with friends and rented a kayak to have a tour of the lake.
All activities were enjoyable. The place is clean, a lot of parking places, many trees. The lake is easy to navigate also with a kayak, interesting shape, in the middle of nature. In one evening we enjoyed a fantastic sunset.

The only reason I have been to this park is to enjoy the pool in the summer. It is very nice. Grassy areas where you can set up chairs or put a blanket down. Lots of fun for the kids. They have a place to buy food also. I would recommend coming during the week. I think weekends get quite busy.

We have been a few times now and each spot is unique. We have enjoyed each spot we stayed at equally. Each has it's pluses and minuses. Spots are good sized and spaced nicely for privacy. Highly recommend tent camping here. Great hiking and fishing. Also I hear there is a pool!

A really nice State Park. They have a large swimming area, although usually crowded with a lot of kids. They have a large lake and will rent boats and canoes. Great place to take the kids and have a nice picnic.

Great through spring and fall. Lots of activities available. There is even have an aerie with real American Bald Eagles!

Easy to navigate and ride bridle trails. Camping, fishing, boating, hiking, biking... it's all here!

We enjoyed camping at this State Park. It is close to Gettysburg (30 minutes) and we did the driving tour before heading back to the camp. They have a large pool and we look forward to returning to enjoy it with our family. Camp and bathrooms were clean.

we live about 5 minutes from Codurus State Park. It is a great place for hiking, biking, fishing, boating, swimming and the list goes on.

Although we did not use the facilities, the pool looks wonderful.

The Codorus Blast is done every year and it is a lot of fun for the whole family!! There are numerous food vendors, crafts and other types of vendors too. There are many activities, such as a rock climbing wall, music with a DJ, jumping dock dogs, live bands, kids games, pontoon boat and helicopter rides, and fireworks. Everyone can find something to enjoy and make a day of it!

Great campground in a peaceful setting. Easy to get to and setup. The lake and surrounding park is well maintained. Has many activities for everyone in the family to choose from. The local towns are close enough to go to for supplies if you need something.

I have lived in this area for 31 years and have been coming here since I was a kid. Codorus is a gorgeous park that could be so much more if given the chance. I won't go into the history but if you visit you should definitely read the history of this project.
For a quiet walk or easy hiking this is a great place. In the summer there is a great pool to go to and I would recommend that if you have children.
Even has great camping too. The only criticism is it would be nice if they allowed or had some type of vending or refreshment in the different area of the park. But I will say there are plenty of places around to go to just not really in the park so make sure you plan for that.
Make a stop here, you won't be dissapointed.

Codorus is great for hiking, fishing, boating, and just relaxing. There are restrooms, but no eating facilities, so pack your lunch. Bring your camera as there are abundant birds and other wildlife throughout the park.

Clean and well run. Lots of RVs and trailers. Most spaces well away from the lake. Facility is well cared for, hot/cold showers, mix of wooded and open sites. We stayed in a yurt and had a great time.

We went out on their Pontoon Boat that was not to pricey! Had a great time! Lot's of area to cover and you can take what ever you want on the boat. They also have an overnight option that we plan to try soon. Great time on the water for a not so high price!

Love to fish and this place has so many different places to hike and get that special little area where no one else is there. You can fish the day away, the yellow perch are beauties.Sometimes I like to rent a paddle boat for an hour just paddle out in the water and just enjoy the quiet and the sun! There are many things like concerts and fishing challenges ,kids events and the Codorus blast.Check the camping areas ,you'll love this place!

Fishing. Boating. Camping. Horseback riding. Events. Walking and Hiking. So much more! Visitors will not be disappointed.

Great, clean park for playing frisbee golf, boating, many rentals available for boating and camping. The blast is a vey good fireworks presentation

If you are in the area or passing through and have time. Stop by. Enjoy a day out with friends and family in this 3,500 acre park. Several picnic pavilions Their is boating hiking biking fishing hunting. Something for everyone.

I enjoyed bird watching at the Marina site with friends. Walking the paths was easy and fun. We viewed in person what we had been following on the Eagle cam - watching the
babies hatch and being fed and cared for by parents.

Nice state park. We had a full hook up which we upgraded to since the site assigned was not level for us. We found most sites need some type of leveling but unfortunately we do not have levelers on our camper. The lake you can not swim in and the pool was only open on weekends. A lot of sites have electric. Staff was very accommodating and park was quiet. Nice to see they had recycling.

I come here to just relax. I always run/hike the mary furnace trail which is an easy trail. I can run it in about 30 minutes. I always stop at the water and just sit in silence. It is truly so serene and easy to get to. The only con to this trail is lack of parking, about 5 cars can fill up the small lot.

My favorite spring, summer and fall place to be! Lots of people kayak there and I love the wildlife - Eagles, Ospreys, turtles, egrets. A great place to relax for a couple hours on the water. Plenty of spots to put your kayak in - or a rental place if you don't have your own.

Have spent two weekends at Codorus Park, and one of the highlights were the clean bathrooms! It may seem like an odd thing to rave about, but my recollection of camp grounds is that they have damp, mildewey and really buggy bathrooms.
Aside from the clean bathrooms, Codorus Park is incredibly well run with "host families" located around the park. These hosts are a combination security guard, grandparents, and hall monitors. They make sure everyone does what they are supposed to do regarding things like no parking on the grass and no loud noise after 9pm.
Codorus has just about everything you would want including a very large swimming pool (extra cost); area for tent camping; hiking trails (though not well marked); playground; areas for tent camping or RV camping, a few cabins (without facilities); and they are located on a large lake. Oh... and there are marinas nearby (within 2 miles) where you can rent paddle boats, pontoon boats, kayaks and canoes.
Last Saturday evening, they organized a kickball game for kids and one for adults, plus a volleyball game. Additionally, a lady from the local college did a show and tell presentation on turtles and snakes in the area.
Great place for camping!

To be honest, we have not been to a ton of state park or other campgrounds. But we really do enjoy this campground. We have been In spring and summer. The sites are always clean and not obstructions. We have a 18 foot pop up. Lots of families and kids all playing. A nice playground and alot trailsto offer nature time with your family. In the summer we rented a canoe and the lake was beautiful. Everyone is respectful and kind. We use the bathhouses for all of our needs. And they are always stocked and clean. The last 2 times we bought firewood, it was a little fresh and hard to keep lit. The pool is amazing and splash area for our little one. It can get very crowded on the weekends. And out of state (like us) have to quite a bit of money for the day. But if we choose just 1 day, it isnt too bad. There is food and ice cream on site, cash only.
We will continue going to this park since it is only an hour from our home and great for quick weekend trips.

Not worth it to camp here. The park rangers walk from site to site every hour or so harassing campers all night and day. When you think you finally catch a break from the fun police you realize that 1. You can’t swim in the lake 2. The walking trail options are lame 3. You are either camping in a field or surrounded by scrab brush.

We are always looking for places to go camping with primitive camp sites - no electric or water. Codorus did not disappoint! There was plenty of privacy between plots and the plots had soft grass - not rocks like many other sites have. It was very comfortable and quiet, and the bathrooms were both accessible and extremely clean. We look forward to our next trip!

Codorus is a nice free state park with a variety of activities. There are plenty of hiking trails, a huge disc golf section, and plenty of places to get your kayaks in the water. There are not a ton of bathroom facilities around which is one of my biggest complaints about the park. We live very close and are usually just are there for short periods of time but could see that could be a problem if you were traveling and planning on spending the day.

This park covers a lot of area, with a huge lake, marina, canoe rental, swimming pool, many picnic areas with pavilions, all types of rec,

Great location for boating, picnics, disc golf, and concerts. Regularly attend the summer concerts at the band shell. Sometimes takes a picnic.

We enjoy going to the Codorus Summer Blast each July. Great food, great entertainment and we love to stay for the fireworks. Also, the water dog demonstrations are always fun and interesting to see.

I use the park in many ways ! We walk at the park . We often take a meal and sit in our car and watch the lake as we eat ! We go to the fireworks! We also rent the boats and go boating ! The area is so peaceful ! I love watching the birds and the animals scurry around!!

This is a quiet and peaceful state park with the main focus being the beautiful lake and water activities. Hiking opportunities are limited. There are a few trails marked and unmarked, pleasant and relaxing but not dramatic or breathtaking. There is a visitor center and museum at entrance . Limited picnic facilities scattered around the park.

The State park has a large area to hang around. Boat landings, Camping, Playground, Woods, And the Stream. Good Place to hang out for a day.

this a huge peaceful park. a wonderful pace to walk dogs. many birds there-have seen the bald eagles and many hawks there.great fishing and beautiful lake to go out on.friendly people always also

We rented a pontoon boat for a couple hours and we had a blast! We was able to see most of Lake Marburg in that short amount of time. We also went fishing from the pier and we used the swimming pool one night and it was only 4 dollars per person! There is plenty of things to do on the weekend and it’s only a short drive from Hanover!

We did tent camping in the Timberdoodle tent-only area for two nights during a holiday weekend. This area has plenty of space between sites while the other loops seemed to be too close to each other. Although the Timberdoodle camping sites do not have electricity, there are electrical hooks that we used to charge our phones at the bathhouse which is a short walk from where we stayed. The bathhouse was cleaned often; the women's bathroom has four stalls and two showers. It never seemed crowded even though there were lots of people in the park.
Lake Marburg is beautiful! The water is very clear and peaceful. We rented kayaks one day and a pontoon boat another day. Jim who manages the rental site at the marina was very helpful and flexible when we had to re-schedule our boat reservation due to rainy weather. We will definitely come back in the near future.

I took my daughter to Codorus for her first tent camping experience, and we were in the Timberdoodle Rougin' It area, not the electrical hook-up sites. I liked the fact that the "roughin' it" area was separate from the RV areas, and we felt reasonably secluded even with people in adjacent sites. The sites themselves were decent though several are sloped (like ours, #T3) -- #15 at the bottom faces the lake, probably the nicest one. There are fire rings with grills (wood is available at the camp store for $5), and each site has a lantern hook and a picnic table along with parking for one vehicle. The bathroom with showers and utility sink (for washing dishes) is at the entrance and walkable from the first few sites but a little hike from the ones closer to the lake. The park overall is well maintained, and we will likely be returning. It's a beautiful area.

We took a swing through Codorus State park today. Impressive. The lake is huge, the pool well equipped sitting up on a hill overlooking the lake. We took a 1.5 mile hike...the trail was poorly marked and barely passable in places. The lake features boat speeds up to 25 hp and didn't look crowded at all...it is a huge lake. Looks like a great place to day trip.

We camped here labor day weekend with friends. We stayed in the B loop which allowed pets. There were both shaded tree sites and countryside sites. The bath houses were clean and easy to access. They also have mini cabins and yurts. We rented tandem kayaks and enjoyed an hour kayaking on the lake. Many others were enjoying the lake as well, windsurfing, pontoon boating, kayaking, sailing etc...You can not swim in the lake due to the water levels constantly changing but we did some some people wadding as there are miles of shoreline. They also have many hiking trails and other multi-use trails, although we found the markings difficult to follow. The campground had all kinds of fun activities for the kids including an ice cream social, hayrides movies etc. Definitely will be going back!

This state park was a pit stop on a longer trip south for my family. We had made a reservation for a tent site that was too small when we saw it in person. Staff was very accommodating about letting us change. Even on a summer weekend at 5, there were still some good spots available. Showers and bathrooms were clean. In the back of the bathhouse, there were a pair of sinks for dishwashing. The picnic tables did look like they are becoming part of the forest and probably should be replaced soon. We wanted a place close to Gettysburg but away from the crowds, and this campground fit the bill.

Every once in awhile, my husband, dog and I drive the half hour to Codorus State Park in order to escape the stressors of our daily lives. While there, we may either hike, canoe or just take in the beauty of the tranquil lake environment. Over the years, we have seen many species of birds including Blue Heron, Geese and a Bald Eagle.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day on Saturdays 6p.m-7:30p.m and Sundays 8a.m-9:30a.m, the state park runs the pontoon program. On board a pontoon, you spend 90 minutes enjoying the lake, sun and wildlife.
I participated in the Sunday morning tour. We called during the week to reserve a spot. You have to pay over the phone with a credit card. You get a receipt the day of the tour. You have to arrive at 7:45 a.m. PFD and binoculars provided.
The Marina was easy to find. Dock A is the one next to the rental store. There are no signs as you drive by signaling dock A. If you are not familiar look online at the Codorus State park map and familiarize with the area. There are bathrooms with flushing toilets and running water.
Upon arrival, we signed the waiver. On board were the guide, the captain, the spotter, a family of 3 and us 2.
We left at 7:56a.m and arrived at 9:30a.m. The guide explained the history of the lake while the spotter pointed out the wildlife. There is no shade on the pontoon. It was a very hot day and the sun was shinning brightly at 7:30a.m. We saw many birds, and fishermen. It is definitely a must.

We have visited this park for the past two falls (2016 and 2017) and plan to go back this October 2018 with more friends. It's really fun particularly for kids up to young teens. But my 16-yo and his buddy had fun too.

The Girls and I loved the Marina! What an awesome lake! And boat rentals with motors (pontoon type)- just amazing! We brought a cooler onto the boat with our soft drinks and snacks and cruised around this amazing piece of creation. This is a park to enjoy for years to come. Want a real experience-go here!!!!

Codorus State Park provides quite beautiful scenery along Route 216 in southern York County. Today, the waters were sparkling under a bright and unseasonably warm blue sky and sun. Various parking areas are found along the route for picnicking, fishing, and boating. Swimming is the main form of recreation not permitted except in limited areas, though it is not yet warm enough to consider that activity. Instead, contemplation of the beauty of nature on the convenient benches is appropriate.

Codorus State Park has much to offer with the largest attraction being Lake Marburg.
Not only can u go on hikes and horse rides around the lake they also have campsites and a pool. Another fun thing to do at the lake is explore on a pontoon boat (they have them available to rent) It is a great experience to cruise and explore the lake I would recommend this park to anyone including family's with small children! The only negative about the park is that this area seems very pre to deer ticks (which tend to carry lymes disease)

This is a beautiful state park, right close by for me. A very nice size lake with boat rentals available it you don't have your own. A swimming pool close to the camping area. Sometimes my husband and I will get broasted chicken from Claire's restaurant ( close to lake) and sit by the lake on a picnic table to watch the boaters and wildlife. Very relaxing and peaceful.

First time being here. Such a beautiful place. We had so much fun. You can rent a boat which we did . we went on fathers day we didn't know there was a festival until we seen a bunch of people and tents on our boat ride . we were told they have them there which I thought was cool . I wasn't sure what was up with the swimming there are signs posted no swimming in the lake signs every where but there were a lot swimming as we were told no swimming they said they don't want that seeing as boats are out on the water. All and all such a great place we will be returning again. Also park is dog friendly which we got to bring our dog.

We live in Hanover and enjoy spending time every month out at Codorus. If it's hiking, picnicking, fishing, camping or all of the above, the quality time is priceless. It's clean, lots of area to picnic and usually pretty quiet. Summer Blast is a great event as is Halloween in the Park. Take some time and enjoy the outdoors

This is a great state park. It has a nice camping area. Fishing and boating are very popular here, as well as swimming, mountain biking, skating, and hiking. This park as a lot to offer.

Unfortunately motor boats weren't available when my son and I went to the AOS Marina...only kayaks and canoes. The scenery at the park is beautiful...I just wish there were more there to do. Definitely the cleanest ladies room at a park I've ever used!!

This place is a splendid place for frisbee golf, walking, boating, fishing, camping and swimming. The campgrounds are nicely spread out in the woods. We love it and highly recommend it.

This park has a lot of activities for the whole family! There is camping, a pool, disc golfing, fishing, kayaking, picnicking, a marina, hiking paths. Pretty much everything!

great lake-you can rents boats-campground-pool-picnic areas-and disc golf-hiking and much more. Great place to enjoy time with family

This is a wide open park containing Lake Marburg, a very big lake with many fingers to it. Contains several boat launch areas.

A beautiful wooded camping area suitable for solo or families. Clean facilities, nearby town of Hanover for supplies and restaurants. Boat rentals and docks, public roof top launch for kayaks. ***BUT NO SWIMMING***

Our family has visited Cordorus State Park on my occasions - as a family, as couples and as individuals. We've picnicked, and kayaked
Entrance into the park is clearly marked and you can see the lake from the bridge you cross over.
The whole area is beautiful (we've never seen it unkempt) - both the park and the lake are rather large
There is a boat ramp plus you may rent kayaks. It's lovely on the lake and some people fish. There are busy areas and quiet areas depending on what you're looking for. There is also Golf Frisbee available in designated areas. Of course there are water birds to watch as well.

interesting trails, great fishing--shore/boat, Bald Eagles and Ospreys plus picnics and camping. Can't really think of any negatives !!

Codorus State Park offers opportunities for several kinds of boating, hiking, and picnicking. There are several boat launching areas for sailboats, canoes and kayaks, and trailer-drawn power boats. There is a camp ground and a swimming pool, though swimming in the lake is prohibited.

Swimming pool open during summer ($$). Rental Boats also -- 20HP and less. Camping for tents and trailers.

We really enjoyed staying here this past weekend. The park staff were very friendly and the bathrooms were very clean. I didn't mind taking a shower here. We loved our campsite in-particular, as we were not too close to other campers and were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. The lake is huge and there are so many things to do. We thought it was going to get cooler at night now that it is fall but it was relatively warm at night so sleeping wasn't uncomfortable. Also, we really liked the fire rings here as they didn't have huge walls on them. We had recently been camping somewhere where the fire pit was not very open and this was a great enjoyment that we could really feel the fire. If we come back to the area for camping we will definitely have Codorus in mind.

Love camping here every summer! Our family loves this park. Plenty to do - trails, enjoy the lake, the amazing pool & sprinklers area! The campground is always very well maintained - bathroom are cleaner than most! Just a peaceful place to enjoy with the family.

Camping was excellent! Tent only sites are very big and the bathroom was super clean. Lake water was surprisingly quite clear.

Beautiful scenery. Nicely groomed trails. Lots of activities, picnic areas, rentals, marina, community events. VERY stinky bathrooms. They need to take a lesson from Rocky Ridge.

This is a great park. It's very pretty. There are a lot of trails to hike, horse ride, and more. The educational / welcome center is excellent with lots of specimens. My children, my wife, and I love it here. There's a camp ground, a play ground, a water park, and a large area where big events are held such as Codorus Blast which is held annually. You can be at the park from the center of Hanover in less than 10 minutes. Great place.

Codorus State Park is about 10 minutes from my house. We utilize this park frequently for hiking, camping, and swimming in the awesome pool. The campground is huge with very nice bathhouse facilities which are always clean. There a some dog-friendly camp sites. The pool (which campers get a discount to use) is very clean with two huge slides and a water splash park area and a large shallow area for little ones. It also has wheelchair access. There are many nice, fairly easy hiking trails. My 9 year old has been hiking the trails since she was 4. Lake Marburg in the park offers canoeing, kayaking, and houseboat rentals, even birding boats with park rangers. Overall, just a great park

codorus st park is wonderful nice campgrounds, swimming pool, hiking trails, boats and canoes for rent at the marina , a viewing area to view the bald eagles , disc golf ,very nice clean park a fun safe place for family and friends

Ever since I was little my family has had a boat in the Codorus lake, a beautiful man made lake with tons of activities to do in its state park. I have yet to see litter, especially in the water. Everything is kept clean including its variety of hiking trails. There is a pool (you cannot swim in the lake) and tons of areas for picnicking, my favorite activity is probably the Codorus blast in July!

spent the day grilling, walking thru the park and swimming..nephew got a citation for jumping in pool after pool hours. other than that, it was a wonderful family day

Ever since we bought an RV, this has been our go to place. We enjoy Codorus camping accomodations. They have different loops and areas for strictly pets, which is nice. We don't have any pets, but enjoying the fact that we don't have to worry with the previous campers pet remains is a plus. In addition their bathrooms in each loop are always clean and tidy. I have to agree that some spots are difficult to have slide-outs out, but their website let's you view the area, before booking. The reason I only gave it 4 stars and not 5, is due to the cutbacks this year. They dont have any camp hosts that stay and see after things.

There are so many wonderful places to explore in Codorus, that every weekend could be an adventure. We live close by, so in the spring and summer months I visit with my dog to hike trails and explore hidden places. Sometimes in the summer it is crowded, but there always seems to be some uninhabited space to explore. I feel fortunate to live so close to avail myself of this wonderful park!

there you have everything to enjoy your day, kayaks, trails, fishing places, where to swim, and its amazing to take bird photos

Wonderful outing AND PET FRIENDLY....Hard to find places to bring your pooch. Lots of good food and music and it is always great to see the Dock Dogs!

Although the park itself is lovely and clean, we will NEVER go to the pool again. We witnessed a drowning and the lifeguards did not know what to do. There was a nurse as a patron and she performed CPR. It took 25 minutes for EMT's to get there, because the station is far, then we had to wait for helicopter. It was chaos. Besides that, although the pool is large and has waterslides, it is usually PACKED with nasty people from other areas on bus tours.

My relaxation comes from walking this beautiful trail! I usually go during the summer, but the spring and fall are also nice. You have the option to walk the whole thing, or there are shortcuts if you don't want as long a walk as well.

Codorus offers something for everyone in the family. There is fishing, areas for picnics, hiking, great views for photography. Boatings available. Unload your boat or rent a boat at the marina. For enjoyment, a fantastic swimming area is in the park. The pool is large with slides and a wet play area with lifeguards on duty. A refreshment area is located in the pool area. There are camping areas. Programs are frequently scheduled within the park. There are buildings to rent for special events.

This park has camping, fishing, boating, picnicking, and etc..... The views are awesome on the lake and everyone I have run into that work for the state have been so extremely nice. Thank you PA. For keeping PA beautiful!! :)

We sat out on the vista overlooking the lake and had a picnic. It was so calm and peaceful, The view was beautiful and the scenery fantastic. This park is so well maintained and I always enjoy my time spent here. I would visit this park everyday if I lived closer to it just to take in the fresh air and relaxing atmosphere. Camping is very nice here especially since I need a handicap spot. I have always been able to get a spot in the shade and in the middle of the summer when were too lazy to camp we rent a small cabin. Bathrooms are kept up. One minus to the park is it does not allow swimming in the lake and does not have a beach. They do have a huge pool if you enjoy that. They only have a couple of designated hiking trails and both require some effort. Despite that, there are tons of places to walk around and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Like I said you have to check out the vista!

I love the lake - I fished it for a 15 years(DO NOT RENT HERE !) and sold my boat to go in business. I took two clients to the lake for a 8 - 12 morning fish. I supplied everything and wanted to make it enjoyable. We arrived early as it required by the website. When the young boy came late he scolded us for coming before start time. I not believe he was engaging in an argument. He was more than rude. We got out late since we already waited and upon return he charged us more. He got smart and I asked his name and to see the owner. He said he was it and I should leave. I would not recommend renting here. His boss needs to know what he has done. This is a total shame that a cocky kid can upset your day this bad.

We talk a walk around LaHo trail (lake). It was very beautiful. The walk was not strenuous. However, if you need walking assistance of any kind, you should not take the walk. It is on a small path that is a little rough with roots, rocks etc. it will take about an hour to walk all around the lake. The last part is back on the highway bridge, which may cause you to be nervous as the cars go flying by you.
We enjoyed the walk and actually say (and photographed) a group of three eagles. The path needs a little updating on the walkway. We did get a little lost until we found the path again.
The visitor center is excellent. Has some nice displays and explains the expected fauna you may see. If you bring children, I recommend they be at least 10 years old and you keep them close.
All in all, it was a very pleasant afternoon with great sites and a nice walk.

Codorus is right around the corner from our house. Easy to get to. Nice lake. Good fishing. Good canoeing. Great camp sites. Nice and quite

Beautiful lake. Next time I’ll get a boat rental, but we were able to do some kayaking, walking around and exploring. Bath houses at the camp site were decent. Free showers and warm water. Very big pool. Camp sites are decent sized. Will be back. Only thing I wish is that they had an ice cream store at the camp. Otherwise we had a great time.

This is a very Beautiful and very Well Maintained State Park. We went for a long drive in the country, and came upon it ... we picked some sandwiches close by and had a wonderful picnic. Saw several birds and a few squirrels. We looked into cabin or camp site rentals (they were very reasonable) and there is swimming and boating allowed (there is a pool / there is a charge). We had a great time and would highly recommend that you stop by if you are in the area !!

The Codorus State Park Pool is great! I suggest going first thing when they open to avoid the crowds brought in by the bus load for day camps. The food prices inside the Pool are fairly high - however you can pack a lunch and go to the car to enjoy the park instead of buying the food inside.

Codorus is a special place for me because my husband proposed to me there in 2006, but even if your not going there to ask your partner to take the big leap, its a great place to spend the day. The pool is huge; it has 2 slides and a kiddy splash area too. The lawn area around the pool is big enough that even on a busy day it doesn't feel crowded. There are lots of trails, boat rentals, a frisbee-golf course and lots of picnic spots too.

Not a ton of hiking trails but easy access to the lake and kayak rentals make for an easy weekend trip.

Beautiful park... nice campground... beautiful sights! Nice pricing for the camping area... Love it here!

We stayed here October 4th, and 5th 2013. We stayed in space 24, loop A. I recommend loop A, as it is the most quite we saw under the trees. There are some open field sites that are pretty far apart, but they offer no tree cover. One of the loops(I think C) was jam packed with RVs door to door.
This campground is billed as "family friendly"(read kid friendly) and it certainly is. The kids quieted down at 10pm, so who could complain?
I would rate this campground at about 3 out of 5 dots, but what gives it an extra one, is that there is plenty to do in the park, and surrounding areas.
The Campground:
Consists of loops A. B, C, D. Loops a, b, and c are under tree cover. A seems to be the most secluded.
For the wooded areas, the A loop seemed to offer the most spacious layout.
The Bathrooms inside the Campground:
The ones inside the A loop were pristine. Ours had a wash basin that was also appreciated. Those areas are especially welcome if you are staying in a tent.
Things to do inside the park:
A. We played "disc golf" for the first time. I enjoyed it and my wife hated it. It gave us something to do while getting exercise under the trees though.
B. You can also rent Canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, and those pontoon party boats.
C.There is a swimming pool for the summer months but it is shut down this type of year, not that we would want to use it anyway.
D. There is supposed to be 11 miles of trails but we also missed that.
Things to do in the surrounding areas:
The city proper of Hanover, PA is just 10 or 15 minutes away, and there are lots of places to eat.
There are a few quint little towns to drive to.
We went to Glen Rock, PA and ate at the Glen Rock Mill. In Glen rock they have train stop for a steam locomotive that runs from New Freedom, PA(where I understand there is a really good restaurant, and sometime they have a carnival close to the train tracks) through Glen Rock, and on to Hanover Junction.
If you would like to see for yourself, how A loop looks, along with the bathrooms and such, watch my video review on youtube at the link below, or look for the review by typing in "the suburban hippie experimentalist"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xd7ACBSIBs
Over all, it was a very nice stay with all things considered.
Mark :)

I just love this state park. It has a little bit for every one. You can camp, rent a boat, have a picnic, walk, play disc golf...do pretty much anything you want.

Best bird watching / photography in South Central Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Game commission has set up a live nest cam of a near-by bald eagles' nest providing spectacular views. Plenty of other wonderful activities at this large State park.

We love coming out here to walk our dog or just spend time near the water with the kids, there is so much to do out here my favorite is kayaking its just so peaceful and the fish jump out of the water near you from time to time.

Great place to visit to bring the family to enjoy the outdoors. Fishing is a little poor unless your looking for Bass or White Perch.

Hershey park was closed so we swam in codorus park - and kids loved it! We tried waterslides and etc. It was nice clean park, swimming pool was big enough, everything functioned well.

My family camped for a weekend in a cabin at Codorus in August, The cabins were very nice: clean, dry, two sets of bunk beds, overhead light and fan, large fan on floor, heater, floor lamp, lamp on nightstand, table and chairs, high ceiling, covered front porch with picnic table, ample room for parking, ample space around cabin, fire ring, slightly wooded, very close to bathrooms. If you camp you can get a discount for the pool , which by the way is a highlight of the park. The pool has slides, sprinkler play area and zero walk in entry. There is a nice store located before entering the park that had some camping supplies. The only thing that I found discouraging was that the park is located in a hunting area. We were advised that it was duck and squirrel season, so we avoided using any trails for hiking, Otherwise there are trails for hiking, biking, and horse back riding. Other people were braver than us. There are factory tours in the area for chips, pretzels, snacks. We really enjoyed the tour at Utz: saw the potatoes being loaded off the trucks, coming into the plant, cleaned, sliced, cooked and all way through to being bagged, boxed and stocked in warehouse. You walk along a windowed corridor that allows you to see everything from top to bottom. Overall a nice stay.

Codorus State Park is a great place to spend the day. You can go fishing, rent a boat, or just go for a walk. They also have a campground that is clean and spacious.

We will head up to Codorus State Park when we are able- for fishing, for walking the dogs (always on leashes) and for reasonably priced boat rentals. Rentals include kayaks to pontoon boats. Nice little stores and clean facilities. Very pretty.

We camped in the park for 6 nights. Weather was pretty chilly but that couldn't be helped. The restrooms were really CLEAN! They were also well stocked. We stayed in a tent but selected an electrified site. It was really great. Lots of wildlife around to enjoy. We would wake up to squirrels playing in the leaves each morning. How nice!! The park staff was also helpful and nice as was our host. The park has lots of activities from fishing to swimming to canoeing to sitting and reading. Enjoy!

Perfect place to go fishing, have a picnic lunch or cookout along the shore with shade and water view. Very well kept campground to go camping at as well.

Again, obviously good reviews are from peoplewho have never been to a real park. The pool set up is terrible, you cant lounge poolside, you have to sit WAY away out in the grass you cant even see your kids. The lifeguards are very young and dont seem to pay much attention. The PRICE IS OUTRAGEOUS! We are from the dc area, where there are TONS of city pools and parks. The cost, even in the city, for myself and kids is about $3-$4 per person to swim. It costs $12-$16 PER PERSON!!!!! The $16 is for NON RESIDENTS! First of all, its a state park, it shouldnt matter if youre a resident or not. Second, the girl at the gate made me get a UTILITY BILL from my car to prove i was a resident, since my license was still in VA. It is a long walk to the parking lot and was a huge hassle. She was extremely rude. Besides all this, it cost almost $50 for the three of us just to go in and swim. You cant bring food from the concession stand to your chair, you have to eat in the food. area. Its is a complete rip off. Its wayyyy out of town, and there is NO other place to swim anywhere. Its totally ridiculous. They have a lake, but you cant swim in it, so unless you have a boat and truck to pull it and you fish, its totally usless. They may have good trails, dont know but to me thats a total waste and a rip off.

Uncrowded nice to picnic, walk, jog. Bring or rent a boat or canoe.
Camping facilities are great. easy on line reservations.

My son owns a boat and he took us fishing. we had a great time. We also went to watch the fire works, a sight among sights, lots of effort was put into the show. we walked around and checked out lots of vendors, i think it would be a great place with or with out a boat.

Looking for a way of spending quality time with your kids this is the place. Camp and be safe. The Ranger Service is very active and forget about the Blair Witch Project. Regardless of the weather conditions this is the place to visit.

For the best views go to the section of the park near the marina. Their is a building on the hill with a round porch. The views from this area are the best and easy to reach

A lovely park for camping , picnicing, boat rental, fishing, hiking, sledding, swimming. My family has spent a lot of time here!

They have a bunch of kicking trails and the lake isn't to cold at any time of the year so kids can wade in it. The pool gets a little crowded but they place is great.

Our site had electricity but not water or sewer which is a minor inconvenience. The bath house is clean and had wash sinks if you need to wash dishes. People and pet friendly and there is no shortage of things to do!

I have only explored a couple lookout sites along the lake in Codorus Park. I know there are a lot of other areas yet to explore. Sitting on a wooden bench , under a tree at the edge of the lake is quieting. It is so peaceful and tranquil you don't want to leave.

love the park!!! Most sites are very wooded. Just wish they had water at the sites. Park staff is wonderful!!

Pennsylvania parks offer free admission. The lake is gorgeous. We like the fact that picnic tables are spread throughout area and not just in one place. Campground was clean and offered cabins, yurts and traditional sites. There is a marina where you can rent boats.

This is a beautiful park! I live 5 minutes away from it and travel through it to get to work each day. There is just about every outdoor activity that you can think of and everything is clean and well kept. It is a large park, but good for couples, families, or even for a quiet day to yourself. I highly recommend it! Locals and visitors really enjoy coming year round.

What they call the Classroom building is great. Micro wave, refrigerator, A/C,
tables & Chairs, great covered porch. Our high school class has a picnic each
August and Codorus offered everything we wanted and more. The room is large
with plenty of room for tables and chairs and tables for the pot luck food. Electricity
to plug in the crock pots and refrigerator/freezer to keep food cold until time to eat.
Wonderful porch if you wanted to sit outside and the view was terrific overlooking
the lake. It rained but it didn't matter as the porch roof kept everyone dry! Food
inside was free of flies. We are a very small group, approx. 20 people so it was
a little expensive for us but well worth making a perfect day out of a rainy day.
We are an older group (Class of 1961) so the A/C was great for some that had
health issues and parking was very close and level ground to get into the bldg.

We have been going to Codorus State Park and the Nature Center for 23 years now and have loved it every time ! The fishing is great ! The Eagles nesting is wonderful to see ! All of the wildlife is amazing !! It is clean and peaceful !! Our children and our grandchildren love it also !!

I have two Grand-daughters, ages 5 and 6. While they are too young for your typical pool, due to the fact that are just learning how to swim, this place is ideal. Huge pool with water slides and also a sprinkler area for the younger ones. The pool starts off shallow and gets deeper closer to the water slides. Lifeguards on duty. Also, priced very reasonable. Two girls were free and my son's addimission was 7.00 while I got the seniors discount (over the age of 53) 4.00. The also have a concession stand to get eats, ice cream and drinks, but you can also take your own snacks but no coolers allowed in the swim area but you can get hand stamped to enjoy the picnic area and return back to swim area free of charge. Showers and changing room also avaliable and CLEAN!!!!! Such a great find in our own back yard.

This park is huge with nice camping areas, a fairly inexpensive swimming pool, plenty of areas for fishing off the shore and plenty of pavilions for family picnics and gatherings.

Another attraction with something for everyone. Want to swim? They got it. Want go boat or fish? They got it. Want disk golf? They got it. Camping? Check. Horse riding? Yep. Band she'll? Yep. Picnic tables? Yep. Long story short there is so much here that everyone should be happy.

Take a ride out on one of their pontoons. We ended up having one with engine problems. But hay... it was still a fun and at times exhilirating time. Nothing like being stuck out in the open water.

Whether you want to boat, swim, hike, play frisbee golf, camp, swim or relax you can do it all here. The views of the lake are beautiful, especially in the fall. Enjoyable for a picnic lunch or come and spend the day.

Close to home. Nice place to spend a quiet afternoon on the lake and taking the dogs for a walk. Nice place to take pictures also.

This is a great state park to visit and camp. My family has camped here for 2 years in a row and loved it. The kids love the pool. Campsites are average size but watch out for the ones that border the large field, it can get very windy. We have gone for July 4 weekend for 2 years and they always have "hayrides" through the campground and an ice cream social. There is also a small playground. The park itself has boating, hiking, and fishing. The nature center is small but staff is friendly. Hiking trails are clean and well marked.

When there is an event going on at the park be prepared for traffic. This is a great place during the summer to bring your kids and have them enjoy the area.

Great park . Lots of trails to hike. Great place to picnic, small or large gatherings. Multiple grills. The lake is expansive, canoeing, small boats and pontoon. Great fishing. You aren't suppose to swim in the lake, but many people were enjoying the water. The bathrooms are clean. Because of Covid the pool and concession stands are not open. Lots of free parking.

Fantastic day trip or camping location Codorus is family perfect.
Great parking and a fabulous swimming pool.

Codorus has camp grounds, a swimming pool, and a marina with boat rentals. You can rent any type of boat including pontoon boats to motor around the lake. The lake is huge. They also have disc golf and picnic tables. The public swimming area is amazing. The pool is huge, I mean huge. There is a splash park area for kids also. Check the calendar of events because they often have something fun going on. We love this place.

The Codorus State Park is an excellent place to get away and enjoy the outdoors. It has almost every outdoor activity one can think of...hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating, skiing and lots more. Besides the huge lake, there is a pool surrounded by lots of land for kids to play and there is a marina to rent boats, kayaks and canoes. The prices are reasonable ($17 an hour for a canoe or kayak). There are several locations for big picnics and grilling out.
First place to visit is the Visitor Center. The staff is friendly and there are maps to pick up for free. There are also several interesting static displays in the Center of local animals, including snakes, lizards, birds and fish.
We took on a couple of the trails. The first was the Mary Ann Furnace trail, which is about 3 1/2 miles. We parked at the parking location on Black Rock Road. We missed it the first time because the sign is small and is right past the parking lot. The lot is small, maybe fits five cars. When we go back again, we'll park at the lot off Dubs Church Road near the amphitheater. There is more parking and a better trafficked area. I felt uneasy leaving my vehicle unattended at a small lot right off a busy road.
The trail was a good walk with several hills and a few small challenges. Most of the challenges were with trying to figure out what trail to take when we came to intersecting trails. I ended up at a chestnut research field once and a corn field another time. There are no markings for the trails other than the white paint on the trees. Since it's a small trail it's not like a person will get lost out there, just bring water in case of inadvertently walking any extra trails.
The next trail was the LoHo trail. It's about a mile and a half and does not loop so one would need to retrace their steps. The trail itself is the least maintained of any state park trail I've seen. The poison ivy and poison oak vines have grown out onto the very narrow trail, so long sleeve shirts and pants is a good idea. It was cool visiting the old cemetery in the middle of th woods on that trail because there are tombstones dating back to the early 1700's. Just be aware to get there, you may be brushing up against a lot of poison ivy and oak.
If you're looking for a place to go have a peaceful lunch or a big family reunion, Codorus State Park is the right location. They also have a great selection of cabins for camping. We are definitely going back! http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/codorus/index.htm#hiking

OUR FAVORITE STATE PARK TO DATE! Spacious sites with well-defined areas. If you are NOT traveling with pets, select Loop C. Unless you like a lot of sun, don't select Loop D. Pets are reserved for Loop B. Walked the Mary Ann Furnace trail which leads you to the beautiful and peaceful lake. If you have a canoe or kayak - bring it! It rained just one day during our three-day stay, so we visited "The Market" which is worth the short ride. Not many shops inside, but cute place to grab a bite and have a beer on a non-perfect camping day. Although the pool was not yet open during our stay in April, we will definitely go back to take advantage of the discount admission for campers. It's HUGE and overlooks the lake. I could spend weeks at Cordorus!

Just recently stayed at Codorus SP for 2 nights. Had taken our dog with us. Pets are allowed, but only on specific pet friendly sites. Over 190 sites including cabins and yurts. But only about 40 are pet friendly. The site are well kept and the facilities are clean. Plenty of hot water for showers. It may have been the time of year...but we were overrun by stinkbugs..nothing that the CG can do, but the bugs were annoying! They got into EVERYTHING!!
Otherwise it was a great stay. There was one 2 mile trail for hiking in the CG. Other trails are available in the park.
Nice CG... would recommend, but most likely will not return as we prefer smaller CG's.

it's the only camping in hanover. we live by codorus state park and it is very nice park lots of spots to fish and hiking trails are around and boating and u can rent boats there the lake is massive and they have a new big pool that has slides the kids love it. the camping is nice they have good size lots for camping and fire pits. they have a park in the camping grounds.

t i going here for a walk, family gathering or bbq. Such a quiet area and lots of space. I never feel like people are on top of me and I need privacy. Its naturally beautiful and fun spot in this small area!

We have stayed at Codorus State Park before and found it a wonderful experience. This time not so much. The Park Rangers bordered on rude while the camp host crossed the rude carrier into downright belligerent. The park is still beautiful and the campsites quite nice but if your looking forward to being welcomed with open arms...think again. We will go back and try again...hopefully with better results.

This is a beautiful, peaceful jewel of a park. My son was married here with the lake as a backdrop and as sailboats went be. Gorgeous. Picnics, walks, runs, walk your dog, play frisbee golf, sail, paddle...just go do it. The folks that make sure this place is kept up and going deserve the thanks of the nearby communities. That's for sure.

Great park to enjoy for hiking, boating, kayaking and much more. Love coming here. Clean and plenty of parking in most areas.

Boffo pool; great hiking, nice place to take the kids. We went when they were in elementary school. Go!

My wife and I would go to codorus to walk around and relax. It is such a nice relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoy going there.

Who in the hell ever heard of a park where yo can't swim in the lake.
And the only swimming allowed is in a pool for which you have to pay?
These facts alone make this "park" worthless.
Want to camp?
Try your back yard.
At least your bathtub and shower are "free".

We were pleasantly surprised how big this park was. There are pool, marinas, camping areas and picnic shelters for fees. The marina fees were on the high side. Pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and the fees range from $4-10. It has two slides.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Just a great place for a walk, although the kids have enjoyed the Frisbee golf and lots of folks enjoy boating there. Plus, the eagles love it, too! Check out the Codorus Eagle cam!

I've been coming to Codorus State Park for many years to camp, hike, fish, swim, relax and ride my motorcycle through the gorgeous area. Now I live near the lake and can enjoy all these things more frequently. It's a wonderful place thanks in large part to the Friends of Codorus SP, park manager and the park rangers all of who look after the park in a caring and common sense way sort of way.

I visit here to run, hike or walk along the shore bank (which depending on the season may be nonexistent). They have a couple of hiking trails that I go on with my family, easy level.

a real find! We will certainly be back to this lovely, varied, and really, very close by state park. I suppose some parts must cost, such as camping or the pool, but we stopped at four different areas and there's no sign of kiosks with people stationed to ask for money, unlike lots of parks in maryland.

A beautiful park with ample opportunity for fishing, hiking canoeing, kayaking and picnics. The lake, even at low levels, has interesting wildlife. Picnic facilities abound, too.

Last Sunday we got a family reunion at park. What a beautiful day we got , the lake was very clean , clear water with a lot of boats on the lake. We were very lucky to rent one of Cabanas with air conditioning that make the family reunion more enjoyable for everyone in the family

This is a very pretty park. We were just taking a ride to look. Great place for a picnic! Fishing and boats available. We were getting ready to rent a boat but sky became gray and rain came.

This park, first of all, has a very interesting history, with remnants that you can see. Lake Marburg was created via a dam, and a the whole town of Codorus was flooded. If you canoe/kayak (rentals available), you can still see the roads coming down into one side of the lake and coming out on the other side!
There is a great golf frisbee course, camper sites, boat docks and rental, dedicated horse trails with horse trailer parking, fishing, a bird watching sanctuary, working corn fields, and beautiful walking and biking trails. Also, visit the nature center. The signs are very clear and helpful, so you can find your way around. I absolutely love this park. There is also a huge swimming pool.

I have family in the area and have been staying near the park for years. This is a neat place for the boating, fishing, and kite flying enthusiasts.

We camped here with friends for a weekend and had a wonderful time. the campground is beautiful and quiet. very shady, wooded, and sites are large with nice picnic tables and fire rings. We brought an RV and our friends stayed in tents - we were all happy and our kids had a blast. There is a small camp store that sells some nevessities and firewood... and cute towns are closeby as well.
The lake is huge and beautiful. We rented a pontoon boat and fished and had a really great time. Kayaks, canoes, and paddeboards are also available to rent. there was a guided nature kayak tour one morning.... unfortunately we weren't able to make it but it looked like fun.
There is a huge and nicely maintained disc golf course. There are well maintained and well marked hiking trails. Biking is a little difficult because the park is very hilly - better for adults and bigger kids than the little ones.
I would love to give this park 5 stars - the ONLY reason it's getting 4 is because you're not allowed to swim in the lake. A ranger explained it's because the lake doesn't maintain steady levels and there's debris - like tree branches and rocks - on the bottom that they consider hazardous to swimming. If you could swim in the lake, I'd give this park 5 stars.

Another of God's blessings. Don't miss this. Morning noon or night every view is breathtaking. The fishing is great ticking trails and picknicks. Breath on the fresh air. Exscape the rat race and get back to nature.

The sunrises are always spectacular around the lake. I try and find as many different views as I can.

The state park offeres a little bit of everything for everyone. Daily activities, a lake, a swimming pool, and fishing are only a few activities available here. Best to visit their web site for a full description of all activities and events.

Such a great nature preserve and park. Love visiting and walking the trails or just sitting by the lake! Great picnic spots!

Very nice camping area. Kids running and playing everywhere. Nice to see. Huge 27 mile man made lake with marina. You can rent various boats by the hour or day. This is the first PA State Park that you were charged for activities. We did take a 1 1/2 hour pontoon wildlife discovery tour for $15.00 per person which was well worth the money. There is a pool at the park as well which campers can use for a reduced rate of $4.00, if I remember right. Although we didn't use it, we did ride by and it was very large with water slides, etc. my family will be going back.

We rented a pontoon boat for two hours on a Sunday in July. It took me back to boating in Annapolis when the bridge was only two lanes. It was a fun outing for us. The other boaters observed boating regulations so the experience was very pleasant. It was well worth the cost for this respite from the daily grind.

For a nice ride in the park this is it. You get to ride along the lake and through the woods. The scenery is always beautiful in any season. There is plenty of room for even the most inexperienced person to park their horse trailer.

This park has everything to offer, you wont be sorry. The camping area is very nice, some sites have electric, some don't and most are usually filled during the summers, so make reservations ahead. The hiking/biking trails can be tough in certain areas, lots of hills. The is even horse trails if you bring your own. There is a swimming pool but its extra, depending on when you go. You cant swim in the lake from shore, unless you have a boat or kayak then the water is crisp and clear usually. Fishing is good from shore, but usually better in a boat, park rangers are strict in regards to boat/kayak be registered legally, there is no alcohol allowed in the park, warning don't get caught, tickets are expensive, plus they walk the camping area at night looking to enforce this law, sneaky little guys

I feel so fortunate to have this park in our town! It's so beautiful and offers so many outdoor activities, such as kayaking, boating, hiking, and frisbee golf. Fun for the whole family!

Something for everyone. 1300- acre lake with marina. Boat rentals. Hiking, horseback riding, and biking trails. Picnic areas. Swimming pool. Campground. Nice, wooded setting.

Codorus is a big lake and only allows boats with small motors and kayaks and canoes. It's very peaceful and cheap enough to rent a years pass for the kayaks if you own yours as I do. The lake is big enough so you don't get bored. I have rented a pontoon there and while it was very much fun I found it very expensive. If you make reservations and it rains you are out your money. They have a big outdoor pool and places to bar-b-q though I've never done either and can't comment on those. They have all kinds of boat rentals.

Campsites are beautiful. We did camping at modern tent only site. It's peaceful and lake is just few steps away. Campsites T9 to T15 are close the lake. Bathrooms are very clean and 5 min walk from the camp site.
There are several hiking trails... just follow the map. You can take a park map from campsite office. We did kayaking on the 2nd day. Boat rents are available at the marina. Restaurants/shops are there in 15..20 min drive.
It was a beautiful camping trip.

Wonderful place to kayak! You can bring your own or rent at their main boat launch site. Overall there are at least three public launch sites, though in two days we did kayak the majority of the lake from two put in locations. There are plenty of picnic tables, and would recommend bringing a meal as it is quite lovely sitting and watching the lake activities. I believe there is a horsepower limit on motor boats as no jet skis, water ski boats seen!

The park surrounds a large reservoir. It has docking spaces for boats and rentals available. There are many picnic tables, and several excellent disc golf courses.

I saw this place as I was taking my flying lessons. I had no idea I was so close to heaven. This place is heaven. It does have amenities for camping...that is not my thing so I can't speak on that...BUT to have complete serenity and peace on the water...was worth the drive. Amazing.

One of my favorite "local" places to visit in the fall to see glorious fall foliage. There is a stream at the end of the main parking area surrounded by large, mature trees with beautiful colors. Highly recommend an afternoon picnic or overnight camping at Codorus.

We were on a day trip to Hanover and had packed a picnic lunch. We decided to enjoy our lunch at Codorus State Park. The visitor center had a very friendly and helpful lady. She recommended a table by the water, and gave easy directions to find it. Beautiful scenery. After eating, we enjoyed a round of skipping stones and walking the shoreline. Camping and restrooms are available. The park is free. Camping fees are low and there is a senior discount for camping. We were informed that day visits to all PA state parks are free! This park also rents canoes.

We live nearby and love to visit the park. Recently we took our dog to the water's edge and watched the sunset...stunning:)

We swam, fished and spent the day together. Plenty of sun or shade, whichever you prefer. Cash only for pool and concession...just a heads up since some people don't carry much of it.

My husband and I took our three year old grandchild to the swimming pool at Codorus. It was beautiful and very clean! Reasonably priced!! We had so much fun! Great for all ages and a lot to do. Bring you own chairs or blanket. They sell food but we packed a picnic basket.

Stayed 3 nights in June having never stayed here before. The campgrounds have a 5 person per site limit and a 10pm noise cufew. The park has a waterpark that offers a daily discount to campers. Ice and the basics are offered at a small campshed/store that uses the honor system for payment if nobody's working. We camped at site 123 and though we enjoyed ourselves the site itself sits at a bend on the loop and is squeezed for space with sites 122 and 125, I believe. The site is like a small horshoe and we could actually hear our neighbor snoring. The bathhouse & restroom wasn't to far of a walk even in the middle of the night and was kept very clean by the grounds keeprs. Showers were also clean and looked to have been freshly painted. Our site had one upside, being completely shaded.

Not our first time. Great to return.. Last weekend in May. Beautiful weather. Loved relaxing in the heavily shade camp site and kayaking the beautiful lake. Saw many species of birds along with their offspring. Will definitely visit again. Park offers camping sites for every type of "camper". Also offers rentals, cabins and yurts. Rentals for kayaks and pontoons too.

we rented one of the pontoon boats. The boat was fun, the park is beautiful. It is a very relaxing and enjoyable way to spend a day but just a little bit pricey.

I have been to Codorus several times, and have always had fun. You can go there to picnic or relax, you can go there for a hike or a boat ride. You can go there just to sit in the sun. In October you can enjoy Halloween in the Park.

Codorus State Park is a very nice & large park to visit. You can take hikes, and/ or a picnic,& also I think canoeing.

Friday, June 30, 2017, through Monday, July 03, 2017. Spent the weekend in our Motorhome Camping at Codorus State Park. Nice, large wooded sites, plenty of trails to walk the dogs. Lake for boating, great pool & playground for the young & old alike. Next time we will take the grandkids ! Only negative, much like other Pennsylvania State Parks, they only offer 30 & 50 AMP electric hook ups, no water or sewer. Plenty of fresh water points and clean bathhouses throughout the park and a double dump station, but in a motorhome, at our age, we like “convenience.” Yes, it is just a State Park, but there are State Parks in Virginia that offer full (EW&S) hookups for just about the same price. Hence, the “Very Good Rating”
We did have a great time, relaxing, sitting under the shade and walking with the dogs. As mentioned, we will return and with the grandkids.

Just a wonderful place. Kayaking does require a state boat sticker.Go early in the morning and you can see the bald eagles ! Also several trails as well as overnight camping. FIshing too ... again, a PA permit is required.

You can go boating, fishing, play frisbee golf, go swimming in the pool for a small fee or sit under a tree and read a book. Picnic facilities and pavilions are available.

Lots of open space to walk -- around the lake, in the woods, has frizbee golf and boating on the lake. You can rent a boat and go out in the lake. Lots of fisherman. Nice scenery as you walk and always a different trail to take. Easy to find off route 216; well marked signs. Has an outdoor swimming pool with places to change. You can spend an hour or a whole day.

Nice quite place but that's about it.
No bells or whistles for sure. The places is clean and maintenance and a pool for the summer but that's it.

Booked 3 nights stayed 2. This park allows dogs on certain campsites, but if you are like us and love your animals and consider the part of your family, don't go here. You can only take dogs in certain areas. We could not even walk our dogs around our our loop (loop B). Ask for a list of what you CAN do with your pets because it will be much shorter than the list of what you CAN'T do with your pets while staying at the park. I will say it was fairly clean and the facilities were decent. Needless to say, we will not go back. NY State Parks are much better. They are pet friendly, well maintained, and well worth the extra non-resident fees and they will continue to be tops on our list over this and other PA parks.

Love this place! The wash houses are always clean, clean grounds, the pool is awesome for all ages! Splash pad inside the pool and outside, big water slide!!!! The events are fabulous!!!!

We live within minutes of Codorus State Park. Sadly, last year we did not utilize the park as much as we would like. This year, however, we have remedied that. The pool is expansive and very nice. Our kids absolutely love it. Since purchasing kayaks, we try to avail ourselves of the lake at least a couple of days per week. The lake offer scenic views; the opportunity to see nesting eagles and osprey; and calm waters for kayaking, sailing or using a catamaran.

Got to the pool just before it opened at 11 am. Very pleasant lady took our money at the window. I only paid $4 as I'm a senior. The pool itself was clean and the grounds were ok. Restroom was clean. Double slide and good size splash area with lots of things squirting and dumping water. There was a good size crowd but not packed. It was a Monday. Everyone was well behaved. Pleasant experience. My first at Codorus.

It's just nice to get out and enjoy the outdoors. I have been going to Codorus State Park for many years now, and enjoy it very much If you're interested in road biking, mountain biking, hiking, nature walking, bird watching, canoeing, fishing, swimming, etc... this is the place for you. It’s located not far outside of Hanover, PA, so you don’t have to go far to get out into nature.

My son and I come here every year. The rental cabins were in nice condition and clean. Bathroom and shower areas were functional and well kept. Plenty of opportunity to go fishing, hiking, and kayaking.

We reserved a tent site for the July 4th weekend, including Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There are three loops to the campground, with loop A being all tent sites (no electric hookups). We were in site 36 and were very pleased to see how huge the site was. We could have fit 5 tents on the site! Without having been to this park before and reserving at the last minute for this weekend, we could not have picked a better site. It was relatively close to the bathhouse, which was very convenient. After walking through the loop, my husband and I agreed that while most sites were satisfactory, some sites were very sloped and would not have been suitable for a tent. My advice is when choosing a site, look at the pictures provided on the reservations page for each site before reserving. The rest of the campground was very beautiful, and provided shade throughout. The bathhouses were well kept and cleaned everyday.
We did some hiking and kayaking during our stay. There are plenty of challenging trails as well as some easier ones. The lake is absolutely huge and just beautiful to kayak on. We passed a few fishing boats as well as pontoons boats that were rented at the park.
We had a fabulous time here and will definitely be returning.

In the need of a good hike after a long ride in the car? This is the place if you are in the area. Summertime, there is a pool and kayak rental. There is also a great camp ground....just pure fun!

Codorus is a great park for any time of year. They have a great pool and a peaceful campground. There is nothing better than renting a pontoon boat and relaxing on the lake. There are plenty of hiking trails, not to mention mountain bike and horse trails.

There's a lot to do here and it's dog friendly. There's hiking trails, swimming, picnic areas, and camping.

This Park is great for family outings. Fishing, Hiking, Canoeing, Kayaking etc. Love watching the Bald Eagles and other wildlife.

An hour plus from mid Md. An older park, but quaint, and peaceful LoopB crowded as only full, pet loop. Dump station a bit crowded, but staff very friendly. Too late in year to enjoy the lake, but..there is 2019.

We stayed in the "roughing it" sites and had a fantastic time! Highly recommended for anyone who wants to tent camp and have some more privacy. The privacy comes at a cost of not so level sites, and a healthy walk uphill to the bath house if you are not willing to use the one porta-potty (which was filthy dirty and smelled from a distance. If you have small children, make sure you advise them to stay on your site and not the road. Some of the boaters drive rather quickly up/down this road (which has a boat ramp at the lake end). Bathhouse is clean, but not spotless, and often you have to share with RV campers who are not always polite. We have camped in this general area several times each year for a number of years, and we will be back.

Codorus is perfect for a family day. Rent a canoe or plantoon boat, have a picnic, play frisbee golf, or go for a hike or swim. You can even camp there.

Great day kayaking. Beautiful place that is very well cared for. Lots of picnicking so spaces and ladies ch sites.

We camped in the electric only section due to availability and it was a very hot and humid weekend. The campground itself is very pretty with decent space between sites. However, the grass around the sites had not been cut so it was not pleasant as we were afraid of snakes and bees hiding in the grass. The bathroom facility’s were OK , not particularly clean and showers very small. The sites in our area had very little shade so it was very hot. You cannot swim in the lake due to hazard to health. The pool was nice but sadly a child had an accident in the water requiring it to closed for treatment. We had hoped to sit along the lake in a beach like place to relax even though you couldn’t swim and it was not available. Lake is pretty to look at so a nice area to view would be nice. Very family oriented and quiet which was nice. Day tripped to Gettysburg for a nice visit, easy drive

We decided to stop here on the way home from Gettysburg. Beautiful views on the lake. Nice informative visit visitor with a good number of exhibits, Worthwhile for stop.

Lots of things to do around and near the campground. Our experience started badly because of the extreme rudeness of the man and woman in the gatehouse. We have been to many state campgrounds and have always been greeted warmly. The two in this campground are a disgrace. Extremely rude. I will not got back because of it.

This is a great state park right on a large lake. It has great picnic areas and hiking trails. Camping spots are available and you can rent canoes and small sunfish type sailboats. The area of the public pool gets very over crowded on weekends with many of the visitors from Maryland.

A beautiful veiw with so much to do! Camping , boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and swimming. A great place for picnics!

We booked a spot at the back of the campground, It was wonderfully quiet and very peaceful. It was nice to have the guest parking across the street from us for our visitors. These spaces were very well spaced out and not too bad for grade for setting up our camper. We did see some spaces that were very poorly graded. I appreciated that the road was paved, it made it quiet when the vehicles went by. The bathrooms were very clean and very well set up. I appreciated hooks, a towel bar and a shelf in the shower. Small details that make a difference. We knew the bathhouse was a distance from the campsite when we made the reservation. It was a bit of a hill, and I was just recovering from hip surgery, so I had to drive to the bathhouse most of the time. All the staff at the campground, the hosts and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff at the marina were wonderful and very helpful for our boat rental experience. Overall, a lovely stay, and can't wait to come back!

We spend a lot of time in this park. We own a pontoon boat and each spring more her at the park for the season. There are a lot of activities run year round. For several years now, there has been an Eagle Cam set up for an aerie on the edge of the park which has received national US coverage on the news. Quite the ta-do for sleepy little Hanover! Highly recommend Codorus Blast and Halloween in the Park. Both are fabulous activities in addition to the beauty of the park in the fall and the fun summertime venue. A challenge for fishermen and the fact that the boat engine sizes are strictly limited, it is a truly peaceful place to spend the afternoon. Many times we will pick up a couple of subs and go out on the boat and have dinner on the lake as well as Sunday breakfast wraps and coffee with the Sunday paper. And when the boat is out, it's a great place to go for a walk on a nice winter day. We've even taken our grandson sledding during snow season. It's a wonderful place!

We live close by and frequently fish and kayak on the lake. We have caught perch, bass, and pike in the lake. It's usually not too crowded and offers a relatively quiet time in nature.
Huge park - lots of options!
This is a great place to spend a couple of hours easily - just sitting and reading, kayaking, walking, playing frisbee, bird watching ... endless possibilities! LOVE this place!
