They have a nice variety of wines to taste in the tasting room.
The picnic area is large, lots of tables and chairs, beautifully planted! It is a great place to bring a picnic lunch and purchase some wine to enjoy with your lunch (you cannot bring in outside alcoholic beverages).

We did the Livermore wine and food pairing trolley and stopped here. Great choice of wines we tasted. Loved their petite Sirah. Staff were great and knowledgeable about the history of the specific wines.

My wife and I got into town on Friday afternoon and just had time to visit a winery or two. Concannon was our first stop. 3:30 on Friday the bar was packed with people who had apparently been tasting wine for a while. It took a few minutes to get someone's attention as they were busy attending to needy customers, but once we got into a flight of tasting, I was pleasantly surprised. The wines offered were their reserve wines, available only at the winery, a little pricey for the brand, but they were really good! I recommend the Chardonnay, Petite Sirah, and the Cabernet Sauvignon. If I come back here, I'll try to come earlier in the day.

Paul really makes the wine tasting experience...He works Tuesdays only....very nice personality and good knowledge of local wines.

The wine tasting was very well organized with friendly staff and excellent seating arrangements. My only complaint would be the use of plastic glasses. For such a nice establishment they could wash real glass and help reduce plastic pollution.

Out of all the vineyards in the Livermore Valley, this is one of my least favorite. The grounds are pretty but the management of the winery is unfriendly and just not helpful. They have changed ownership and used to be owned by Wente but are now owned by the Wine Group. Why go here when you can go to Wente, Murrietas Well, Fenestra or any of the others where they seem genuinely interested in the business and not bothered by answering questions.

The wines are completely different than 10 years ago, if you have not been here for several years I would recommend you revisit this iconic Livermore Winery. The wines and the grounds have improved and improved and improved. The Underdog Winebar is beautiful and has a great patio for the summer (but the food quality needs some improvement of late). The Shakespeare theater in the summer is always EXCELLENT!

Four of us visited on a gorgeous October day. Lunch is small plates, not inexpensive but worth it! We walked into the tasting room, asked for the restaurant and were offered two tastes with no charge. We then had lunch with a wide choice of wine flights, not just Concannon 's wines but a lovely assortment from other wineries as well. Split a number of small plates and all left satisfied. A beautiful spot. (Picnic areas available too but I recommend a splurge at The Underdog Cafe.)

This was my first visit to this particular vineyard, I've heard a lot of great things about it so we thought we'd check it out. We arrived and were greeted warmly, immediately went for some tastings. The staff was very helpful in explaining their different wines and such., didn't really make us feel like total dummies at all!
We then went to the Underdog Bar just outside and enjoyed the cheeses and more wine. It was a bit chilly that day but the outdoor overhead heaters took the bite off the cold air and made it very enjoyable.
We noticed a lot of areas to just pack a lunch and enjoy some wine, would definitely do that when the weather warms up.
We ended the day by joining their Wine Club and were give 6 bottles of wine, all were their Reserve brand, can't wait to crack one of them open. You can come tasting as a member as much as you want and bring 4 people...the plus is you get to taste in their "members only" room which has some nicer seating, a quieter atmosphere and just more relaxed.

I've been to Concannon several times, but recently we organized a small family gathering there one Sunday. They are so gracious. We were able to reserve a picnic table for our group so no one had to arrive extra early to secure a spot. Great shaded lawn. There is an adjacent 'bar' area where we could purchase bottles in addition to the tasting room in the main building. Their wines were delicious.

Spent a very enjoyable afternoon with a friend trying their wine flights and a cheese and meat board. Total for the two of us was about $50, most reasonable given the amount of time we took occupying their outside tables under the canopy. Excellent service and very nicely presented cheeseboard with prosciutto.

Had a great time at Concannon Vineyard. The wine was delightful and the workers there were very helpful in explaining the different wines to our group. The cabernet sauvignon was my favorite. The grounds are beautiful. A great place to bring a picnic and enjoy some wine. Lots of families, couples and parties going on all around the outside lawns. Great outdoor bar. There is a restaurant on the property although I didn't get a chance to try the cuisine.

Concannon Vineyard provides a range of options for everyone. If you are hardcore wine lovers, you can find their extensive wine selections, with various prices. The exclusive wine club program won't let you down. On the other hand, if you are a beginner, the staffs there are super helpful. From wine tasting to winery tours, they surely will make you want explore more. A tip, don't be intimidated by the long descriptions for each bottle. Just relax and enjoy!

Friends took us here, as we were visiting for the day. The grounds were lovely. It was probably about 45 min. before they closed so we were going to have a quick tasting then probably go somewhere else. We got to the tasting room and stood there for quite a few minutes before the lady behind the counter informed us that they were closing soon and that the tasting counter was closed. She told us that we could get wine at the outside bar. We walked out to the bar and stood there and waited for the people behind the bar to even acknowledge us. When they didn't we told the gentleman that we wanted a glass of wine. The lady, who was also behind the bar, rudely told us that they were closed and that we couldn't get anything. Mind you, there was still about a half hour left. We told her that the lady inside told us that we COULD get some wine there. They tossed us a couple of menus then continued on to their hurried cleaning up. We picked 4 glasses of wine and went to take them to one of the tables on the grass. We knew we had little time, but we wanted to drink our glasses of wine until they closed. While we were drinking, the lady was RUSHING all the tables for them to finish their wine by going table to table picking up their glasses and telling them they were closing. The wine was already over priced for how it tasted, but I have never ever been to a place where they rush the customer to finish their food/drinks so they could go home! This was on a Saturday no less. We left vowing to never return.

If you are touring the Livermore wineries, I recommend starting here. It opens at 11am and most other local wineries open at noon. The good: picturesque building with beautiful fountain. The tasting room is vast and did not feel crowded. The staff was attentive and at first, a little abrupt. However, into our flight, she opened up and carried a conversation beyond the qualities of the wine. The flight was $10. Prices were fair and take a look at joining their club. Seemed like a great deal. Wine selection was decent. The not so good: if you are looking for a smaller local winery, this is not for you. There are so many mom and pop wineries in Livermore, Concannon seems more "corporate". Our server did not deviate from the flight or offer any sort of friendly consult or maybe a taste or two of wine outside the flight. Although the room is large, their selection of wine related gifts was not impressive. There was not much branded Concannon merch at all. I was looking to the home a unique souvenir and was disappointed. The few branded items were nothing special. You should visit Concannon first if you are touring the area. You will appreciate the smaller wineries and realize Concannon is simply a business with a large tasting room.

Very well done, food was delicious & was very organized.
One thing I wish they would implement is to not allow children. Why anyone brings kids of any age to a winery is beyond my comprehension. They do NOT belong there!! No babysitter then you don't go, it's that simple. It's miserable for them, & people like me who do not have kids do nit want them running around.

Again one of CA. oldest wineries. really great wine. you can bring a picnic, and dine outside. Or they now have a restaurant, where you can get food and try flights of wine. We really liked that.

The winery is beautiful the food is delicious and the wine is great. The service is slow, the prices are high and the seem a bit snooty there. It is a great place to enjoy so nice wine but be prepared to spend money. I always do the flights because they are great pours but if you want to sit on the patio you have to order food.

Went there for a few hours of wine tasting. Staff was very inviting and attentive. Wines were really good. Highly recommend stopping in here if you are in the area.

A group of us had a tour at the winery and then we went outside and sat under a shaded trellis and did some tasting. The tasting room was completely packed and super busy and noisy, so I was happy to go outside. The grounds are beautiful and the perfect place to have a picnic. I have to say though, I wasn't very impressed with the wines. Looking forward to returning and bringing a picnic lunch.

I won’t pour over the details, but probably the worst wine tasting our group has ever done. Though the grounds are nice, the quality of the wine is terrible, and collectively we poured out more wine in our flights than consumed. The staff is friendly, but that must be to mask the fact that they have to push this awful wine. Our group of five were all very disappointed. There are better choices for wine tasting in Livermore. Not only are Concannon flights not first class, they are not even coach. Fly by this place.

We decided to go to Livermore instead of Napa during this visit. We were not disappointed. Concannon was a beautiful vineyard and winery and tastings were fantastic.

Awesome grounds and a great place for a picnic, view is amazing from picnic area. Wine is reasonably priced and tasting are affordable unlike Northern California. Also, membership are inexpensive and wine members received wine selection only two times per year

I’ve had some bad wine out of Livermore so visiting local wineries wasn’t high on my list. Concannon has a history with cabernet so we stopped by for a tasting. I was surprised how good the wine was. We really enjoyed some of the reds and even took a couple bottles home. The tasting room is comfortable and the pourers come to your table explain the wine and pour. They were extremely knowledgeable about the wine and could answer all our questions. At many wineries the servers just pour here they really know about the wine. Impressive. The winery changed my impression of Livermore Valley wine.

We were here tasting this wine, when all of a sudden we were approached by Jim Concannon. What a wonderful experience to have a guided tour with the master himself. He gave us 30 minutes of his time telling us the inside story of his wonderful family and the start of the winery. He told us how his family came here from Ireland and the struggles to start the winery. Hope some others can have the same pleasure. The wines are very tasty and Chuck told us all about the wine making and the aromatic flavors in the wine making. Children would not enjoy this stop, but the adults will get a good understanding about the grapes and the wines.

My wife and I visited to attend a topiary tour of the property. They had a sommelier who described wine pairings with certain foods. The tour was excellent.
The property is very very beautiful and very well maintained. The picnic area is very nice. You can bring a picnic basket and order some wine to top off your day. They have cornhole boards setup.
We had a private tour of the winery, so that made the visit extra special.
Do yourself a favor and visit this winery. You will not be disappointed.

Went with family to a few tasting rooms and nice place to visit and tasting room nice and would recommend sitting outside if available or at table inside to enjoy the experience. Nice staff and helpful.

This is quite the large production: huge parking lot, large entrance, large tasting area with a posh dark tapas-like restaurant behind it. We expected a lot but got little. The fellow doing our tasting made and received phone calls while pouring the wine...several times not even telling us what wines we were tasting. We had to explicitly interrupt him to inquire what was going on. At one point he left the counter entirely to discuss some personnel matter that had been brought up to him over the phone (our hearing easily both sides of the conversation). He couldn't have cared less what we thought of the wines and had very little knowledge of the winery history or the varietals on offer. We had planned to have lunch here but after asking for the menu and seeing it was only tapas-like offerings, plus no gluten-free options or even idea what might be gluten-free on the part of the hostess, we decided to go elsewhere. There are many many wine-related items for sale on the side walls--this is really a slick business proposition they have going here. I did mention our experience to an employee on the way out who apologized. But overall a less Big-Box-Processing-Line experience we enjoy more in wine tasting, and of course with a more personal, informed host doing the pouring.

We have enjoyed visiting Concannon since the 1990s and come back every time we visit CA. My favorite wine is the Petite Sarah and my wife likes the Chardonnays. Their Wine Club keeps us supplied with quarterly shipments of select wines to Florida.

Concannon was one of four wineries we stopped at in Livermore. We learned later that they are a hugh winery but several of their wines we tasted stood out: 2010 Assemblage Blanc, 2010 Chardonnay, 2008 Cab and 2009 Stampmaker Syrah a ++.

We've been going to Concannon Vineyards for several years now, and we are also members of their wine club.
The grounds are beautiful, with a very nice outdoor picnic area that also includes an outdoor bar so picnickers can get a glass or bottle of wine.
The two tasting rooms are also very nice. The non-members room shares a building with the Underdog Restaurant. In this room you will find various merchandise for sale too. The members tasting room, across a small courtyard from the other room, is also quite nice. They have recently updated this room with much more furniture, and they have put sound deadening panels on the wall which have really made this room significantly nicer.

Took a group of business associates to Concannon for a quick wine tour. We were thoroughly "wined and dined"! Lovely tour of the history and grounds, met the 'mother vine' and then sat down at sunset under a beautiful canopy and perfect weather for a tasting of 5 reserve wines. It was wonderful. John Concannon himself joined us and made the event even more special. Thank you Concannon! We really appreciate the hospitality!!!

We enjoyed the variety of wines for tasting. The staff is awesome and grounds are beautiful. It is one of my favorite Livermore Valley wineries.

Starts with good attention and lots of knowledge and that's what Chris provided as we tasted a lovely flight of wines. Good value in eliminating tasting fee for each bottle purchased.

Been here twice now despite initially avoiding it as Concannon is a "big name" place in Livermore which to me usually means over run w people and not so great wine. But the areas to picnic were busy yet not overly crowded, service was friendly, our group loved taking photos by the vines and topiaries and sharing a few bottles. We stayed out of the dark and cool tasting rooms. Had a lovely day

The 2009 Cab Sauvignon was good. The gounds are beautiful, even in January. Went on a sunny day, just a little windy. All went well until I made the mistake of purchasing a meat tray from their wine bar, which was a total waste of money! $20 for a couple ounces of meat & veggies, if that much! No, It wasn't caviar or anything else exotic!

Beautiful winery and tasting rooms, wide range of wines, beautiful outdoor seating area's to bring a picnic lunch or eat food at their restaurant!

Don't go on a pretty Saturday. This seems like a lovely place, and the wine was great, but it was just mobbed and that made the visit much less enjoyable than it would be otherwise be. I hope to get back on a quieter day. Still, we brought a picnic and enjoyed the lawn area.

Concannon has a huge tasting room next to their vineyards and a golf course. It is a beautiful site. The tasting cost $10 and was overall a very nice experience. My only complaint is that the pours were TINY. We had visited Napa earlier during our vacation, and in comparison the Concannon pours were very disappointing. I would say about 2 sips.
The wines were all good, not great. There are plenty of wine gifts that you can pick up in the tasting room, including chocolates to pair with certain types of wine, Concannon brand balsamic vinegars, BBQ sauces and chocolate fudge. All make great souvenirs.
Overall, good experience!

We enjoyed sitting in the grassy area and enjoying food and wine tasting. Concannon is a very nice winery in Livermore.

Let me preface by saying we wine taste frequently but mostly in Mendocino county and Paso Robles. That being said, the grounds and tasting room at Concannon were beautiful with a large area outside on the patio or under trees on the lawn to taste. We just stayed inside in the tasting room. What turned me off right away was the person standing at the door as you entered guiding you to the cash register to pay your $15 tasting fee before you even got a peak at the menu! Then for your $15 fee you were treated to 6 total wines - 2 whites and 4 reds. Not a very substantial selection and no choices as those were all they had on the menu! While I realize taste is very individual, none of the wines jumped out and made me want to purchase so we left without doing so. The plus was the server who was friendly and personable.

Lots of good wine and people at this place. Meet many folks and taked alot about wine. The Cab was Tasty. The new Tasting room is big and inviting.
I would go back if i travel to this area. The lady helping me was on Day 3 i think and for a new person she knew her wine.
So gald i took the time to stop In.

My co-worker and I decided to go for a nice lunch Friday afternoon. We wanted to sit somewhere with a nice quiet patio and enjoy a drink with lunch. So we decided to try Underdog at Concannon vineyard. Everything was awesome, our server (Cheryl maybe? Sorry!) was fantastic, albeit slammed. Great personality, and had outstanding recommendations. The drinks we on an entirely different level. They were so good! Try the peach bellini, and the so fresh, so clean. Don't forget a wine flight or 2! The atmosphere is cool and relaxed. It was a great lunch that turned into an entire afternoon of wonderful food and drinks. It's too bad they didn't have slightly faster service, I would have given 5 stars.

I've been here several times for the outdoor performances of the delightful Livermore Shakespeare Festival, which uses the old Concannon family Victorian house as its stage for the outdoor performances. The winery serves food and we've made a very nice picnic either at their tables or out on the grass. Wonderful.

We went there for wine tasting and enjoyed our picnic lunch outside under the trees. There was room to throw a football for the kids as well. The wine tasting was very good as well.

This is where my son proposed to his fiancee last year and so is very special.
It is a hidden jewel in the bay area, located j ust 30 minutes from all the commotion of the silicon valley. This is the oldest vineyard in the country and is celebrating its 135 years of operation.
The wine selection is great and is proud of being the source of the clones for all the Cabs in the country.
Today we were able to enjoy a great Chardonnay with wood fired pizza in the California sun at the winery.
If you're in the Bay area, you should visit this winery if you want to experience the wine history of this region that goes back to the 1800s!

They've maintained their presence if not their standing in the Livermore Valley nicely. They open their "doors" to other varieties of wine tasting as well, with a stellar restaurant and in a nice setting with ample parking. While I enjoy a few of their wines, the ambience of the setting/atmosphere/service and restaurant? Is really what continues to draw me in.

My husband, aunt, uncle and I did the wine tasting here. Wine tasting was nothing special, but I didn't expect much at $15 a pop. What drew me to this place were the beautiful grounds. Your family can bring a picnic and spend all afternoon enjoying the atmosphere.

We had so much fun! The wine was spectacular, the people who work there are so knowledgeable and friendly! We joined the wine club a few years ago...had to quit for a while due to finances, but we are rejoining! Can't believe how much we love this wine! A must try!!

Gregg with 3 G's was awesome. Wines were good too! Relaxing outdoor lawn with plenty of shaded areas.

Initially we went for the wine tasting but decided to sit out on the covered patio and have lunch....no hustle no bustle just a delightful afternoon. They offer more of a tapas menu which was outstanding...lovely little bites to taste with "flights"....a flight is actually 3 small (2 oz. I think) glasses of wine paired to what you have ordered. Everyone is happy at a winery! One outstanding white wine had a hint of jalapeno flavor...outstanding and so different. We stayed for a good part of the afternoon as it was so delightful sitting on the patio. We noticed that there was a little picnic area where families would come with all their goodies and children would be playing out on the lawn...truly lovely.

Great outdoor space to sit and enjoy some small plates, look out at the vineyards, drink some good wines and enjoy friends/family company.

We had an enjoyable tasting with Ashley as our hostess. She was fun and entertaining as well as helpful in explaining history and background of the family and the wines themselves. We came early on a week day and everything was immaculate. I can imagine that the weekends are quite busy as this is a large estate with a large tasting room. Nice selection of wines

Excellent place to go wine tasting, beautiful grounds and quality wine selection. Membership savings are very worthwhile for some of their reserve bottles and their more popular blends can be store bought (try their Crimson & Clover table wine!). They've recently incorporated a lounge style indoor/outdoor wine bar called Underdog, which provides a great atmosphere for a wide array of occasions (Birthdays, picnics, kid friendly also...). This place is a must visit if you are wine tasting in the Livermore/Tri-valley area.

Our daughter and son in law treated us to a fun afternoon at the winery. It's a beautiful place and great for families with children. Loved the olives and even took some home. Great place for a picnic. The staff was wonderful. A very relaxing and beautiful experience! We highly recommend!

Tour was amazing. It was last minute, but they accomodated our group of 5. We had a nice tasting with a short tour and got to taste the grapes. We enjoyed the wines and bought the bottles.

Found on Google and had the best and the most reviews. Awesome first impression; very friendly staff; Jim, our host was extremely informative and very polite as he answered all our questions. Excellent samples of their best wines. They also let us tour the vineyards and use their beautiful grounds for a picnic.

We stopped by on our drive from Yosemite to San Francisco. The beautiful winery is located 10-15 minutes off the freeway. The tasting room was very busy at 3:45 on a Sunday afternoon, but one of their employees spotted our group of 6 and opened a space for us at a second tasting bar. At $10 per person for the tasting fee was reasonable compared to Napa - they comp'd 4 of the tastings for us when we had one person join the wine club. We enjoy Petit Syrah, which is one of their specialties.

We come here often in the afternoon, buy a bottle of wine at the wine bar at the center of the picnic ground. Tables on both sides are partially shaded. One can bring food but not liquor from outside. Enjoyable.

We visited Concannon on a small group tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable and approachable. The wine tasting area for our group was nicely presented. The tasting room has an interesting area that details the history of the winery through the years.

Have tried hard to give this long established winery, the benefit of MANY doubts. Their wine Savuignon Blanc very good as is "Righteous Rose" - They fail in all their reds miserably. This is historic with them I'm afraid, even in comparison to their own, valley competition. Their Underdog Wine Bar has delightful atmosphere, but they've now got a NEW CHEF and the menu is, well, average. Their old chef had a stellar menu - guess people didn't like the prices. Unfortunate, as the quality WAS there! Now? Well...Disappointing. They need to work harder to re-establish themselves in the Livermore Valley wine country with all...Sad to say. They do have good parking. Not much to say for their wine servers during the weekday. Very unenthused women.

Concannon Vineyards is a beautiful property, Underdog wine bar is fun with great food and wine. It's nice to sit outside, listen to some great music with friends.

Fab vineyard! We had a lovely wine flight and got many bottles for the road :)
Lots of history and the staff were all lovely.

We had a large group (20) for a tour and tasting. Not the right season so it was mostly bare vineyards and the barrel room, but the host was nice and told great stories. Wines were excellent. Good times.

A large grassy area and some tables under an arbor make this a wonderful picnic spot. You can buy a glass or bottle of wine from the Concannon tasting room or the Darcie Kent tasting room also on the grounds. Don't have any food, but still want to eat? Just go the the Underdog Wine Bar, also on the grounds for small plates and wine flights. Indoor and outdoor seating, and great food.

We went to Concannon with another couple on a recent Friday afternoon and had a great time. The tasting was only $10 for a good wine selection and an additional pour of the petit Syrah. We enjoyed the wine and Woody was very personable as he poured. They seem to have many events - if we lived in the area, we would be there for the First Friday's - they look like a lot of fun. The other couple ended up becoming members and live nearby - I imagine they'll be going often. Definitely recommend a stop at this winery. We did not eat there, but wish we had when we realized they had food. Next time for sure!

A must if You are in Livermore
Beautiful winery
Delicious wines and reasonably priced
Must come back
8 out if 10

My sister, a Bay Area resident, and I stopped by Concannon Vineyards for wine and nibbles one sunny Sunday afternoon. The experience was unexpectedly delightful, from the grounds to the service to the wine (apart from one not-so-great Sauvignon Blanc in my flight). Just when we thought it couldn't get any better - BAM! - an acoustic guitarist starts an Eric Clapton- and Counting Crows-heavy set. Next time I find myself in Livermore (the new Napa), I will pay Concannon a second visit...and God-willing, that guitarist will be there.

We went to 8 tasting wineries and found this to have the best wine of them all. We rated every glass near the top our chart.

Wow, what a beautiful day of wine, family, and fun. After our wine tasting, we decided to buy not one, but two bottles and stay a bit longer at Concannon Vineyard. We'll definitely come back here next year. No need to drive to Napa Valley, as Concannon was close for us. Two Dublin locals (relocated family) and two from PA, found this to be a charming and enjoyable place for wine testing and relaxing and drinking more wine outside in their covered bar area. I'd suggest bringing snacks and/or food. They do serve food, so we bought a Gouda with bacon and that was very tasty. All in all, a wonderful afternoon.

We really thought this was a beautiful facility and grounds. They offer a free photo op (21 and over only) in front of a backdrop that appears to be the gated entrance. Cute, fun signs you can hold in the photo and they'll e-mail the picture to as many in your party that wants them or you can immediately facebook them. The woman taking the picture didn't have much of a personality or sense of humor but she was helpful. The woman in charge of our tasting was either overwhelmed or just not good at her job. It wasn't that crowded and there were other staff there but our server couldn't remember which wine we were on - and it was only our first - and she gave very little description of the wines. We're not wine experts so won't comment on the quality.

Inviting setting, great tasting room with excellent wines. If you like it buy it!
Patrick & others were perfect 'wine hosts', lots of important history shared as we sipped wine.
Also helped with references to other wineries/restaurants.
Nice picnic area for wine, sandwiches, children friendly.
Thanks!

We live here in Livermore this is are favorite winery we have been club members for years. The service is impeccable always have a good time there we bring are friends and they all say this is better than Napa.

Concannon is one of the biggest Livermore vineyards so many of their wines reach shelves across the US. However, some of the wines you can taste at the winery are much more limited in production. While crowds gather here for tasting, enjoying small plates with their wine, or even for some of the entertainment events, the staff manages to be friendly and inviting to everyone. Like a lot of the other reviewers, I was most impressed by the petite syrahs. If you have enough time, it's fun to sit down and share some food and wine with your friends in the back room rather than standing with the crowds in the tasting room.

This was one of the lines of an episode of "Hotel Impossible" from The Travel Channel featuring the makeover of the Purple Orchid Inn Resort and Spa in Livermore. I'm not a wine aficionado however I was ignorant to find out that Livermore had great wineries. Napa and Sonoma are known for wineries with their reserve vineyards where their wines aren't sold at grocery markets but at the wineries. I haven't been to a Sonoma winery. I like going to Napa but the drive from the East Bay to Napa is almost more than an hour and a half due to the traffic - as you get closer to Napa there is a one-lane highway .
I took the week off from work for the 4th of July. I thought about going to Napa during one of my days off. However I did some research on the web through SFGate, which had a link of Livermore wineries. I checked all the wineries from that article. The only problem was that most of those wineries are closed from Monday through Wednesday. There were only two wineries that were opened during those days. Concannon Vineyard was one of those two wineries. This past Tuesday instead of driving to Napa I drove to Concannon Vineyard in Livermore. I wasn't sure how the wines from the Livermore Valley would taste. I'll admit I have never been fond of the reserve wines from Napa as I prefer foreign wines while the wines from Napa have a strong aftertaste.
At Concannon Vineyard the wine tasting is $15 for six types of wine. The serving is a small shot of wine. However I felt if you purchase the wine tasting for $15 then you might be pressured to buy a whole bottle, which is about a little more than $30 a bottle for certain wines. Instead of doing a wine tasting I decided to order 3 glasses of 3 different types of wine. The wines I ordered were specifically from the Livermore Valley. The first glass I had was the Petit Verdot. I thought the wine would be similar to the aftertaste of wines I've had at Napa. I was wrong; the Petit Verdot was smooth. For the next wine I had a choice between the Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. I enjoy Malbec generally with its berry-like taste. I asked one of the bartenders what he recommends and he said try the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Sauvignons I've had at Napa have a earthy taste. Another surprise as I enjoyed my Cabernet Sauvignon at Concannon Vineyard. The last wine I ordered was the Petit Sirah, which is the wine Concannon Vineyard is known for as they were the first to introduce that wine in America. Again another delightful wine I drank at Concannon Vineyard. Of all the 3 wines I enjoyed the Petit Verdot the most as I never had that wine before and I've had Cabernet Sauvignon and Sirah in the past before.
By saving over an hour of driving I was grateful for the experience I had at Concannon Vineyard. By drinking wine made at the Livermore Valley I was introduced to open my palette of other California wines that aren't from Napa and Sonoma. When it comes to California wine I can see why before there was Napa and Sonoma there was Livermore.

Was visiting SF and had to spend a day in Livermore. This is about 40 miles from SF so much much closer than what most people consider Cali wine country. Wife and I decided to visit a couple wineries in Livermore area (there are many to chose from). We are not wine experts and just wanted a laid back experience. We visited Concannon first and were extremely pleased with the experience. We did a tasting ($10 per person) and the lady helping us was very friendly. The wines were all very nice. After the tasing we had a light snack in the wine bar there and some more wine. We sat on the patio, the weather was perfect and the view of the surrounding hill was cool. The people in the wine bar area were also extremely nice folks. Overall I was well pleased with my experince at Concannon and would certainly recommend visiting there.

... but everything is relative. What I like, you may not and visa versa. However, we spent a relaxing hour, sitting on very comfortable chairs and a divan, with impeccable service from a young lady, Katie (I think). We didn't love all the wines, but as said, that's just our opinion. We loved three of them enough to join the wine club. Concannon Vineyards is a must for anyone winetasting in Livermore. Along with Katie, the staff is so friendly and helpful, and made us feel so welcome. There are two tasting rooms which are both large and comfortable. You can buy food (tapas), but we weren't hungry. The benefits of the wine club make it worthwhile to join. Don't miss Concannon Vineyards; I guarantee you will be glad you did

We visited this place on our way from SF to Yosemite. Can't compare with other Californian vineyards. You can taste about 5 wines for 15$. The price for the bottle starts at aprx 30$. The vineyard itself is not so beautiful.

Very nice winery with great wines, lots of history at this winery, they started Pinot Noir in California,. Great outdoor space. Very low key area compared to Napa over 30 wineries in Livermore.

Beautiful location and area. Great to sit outside or inside and sample wines. Beautiful vineyard, and great environment highly suggest

We arrived around 11am to secure a place on the lawn area for a birthday party. They already have tables and chairs available. We just purchased the wine right there for our party and we had our own food. It was simple, relaxing, cool under the trees, and a beautiful area to hang out with friends.

Concannon is a lovely winery. The setting is lovely and the service was excellent. Be sure to pay them a visit.

The Vineyard has a good location and the setup of the tasting bar or the restaurant inside is also perfect.. good place to spend time with friends or family...

Visited here & brought a family member from NY. Beautiful piece of property with large grassy grounds and plenty of places to sit. It was a lovely Sat. afternoon & we thoroughly enjoyed sitting & relaxing on the grounds. Staff inside were friendly and helpful to explain the beautiful 1800's home on the premesis. There is a very nice covered patio to sit & have drinks. We'd have liked to sit & listen to the live music, but, alas, there was no space available😞

If you want a winery to bring your kids, this would be a good choice. A real nice picnic area. But as an adult, we finally did not want to go back again as it seemed to be overrun with many small kids. This is a big wine operation, and a nice indoor tasting room as well as a restaurant and bar on the grounds.

We went to Concannon Winery on a sunny Saturday. If you go early enough, its a nice place to bring a family and enjoy a day on the grass area.
We did not do that this time, but went to Underdog Wine Bar section. They have very nice patio and indoor seating. The indoor area also has TV. College football was on.
We had a wonderful lunch as well as had wine flights.
Service was good.
This is a historic winery. It is the second largest winery in Livermore.
It was founded by James Concannon in 1883.

The grounds are beautiful with ample space for picnics, parking. Wine tasting area for the public was roomy but not huge. There is an area for 'members'. I signed up for a wine tasting 'flight'. The samples were sufficient to evaluate the wines. A nice variety was presented. If you purchase 2 bottles or more the cost for the flight is waived.

Would recommend this to anyone. If your thinking about going then u should.

Wow what a wonderful time we had here! The wine was amazing and the real jewel was Chuck! He explained so much about the vines! When you leave a winery with insight into a field you aren’t normally exposed to- you know there is passion in the making of the vino! Thank you for a perfect day!

Lovely lunch in the vineyards outside under the pergola.
We sipped wines and nibbled nibbles.
Beautiful surroundings, excellent food, top service.
Service was attentive but not hurried. Ladies if you want a day out with your friends, this is it.

The winery is certainly well equipped and holds a particularly nice tasting room.
Their single tasting options features a somewhat boring selection of wines. Nothing that in my opinion would lead to a purchase. That said, it is a cheap option considering it costs USD 10. That is what you get, a cheap tasting.
Service is quite poor. The staff member that helped us lacked an essential characteristic of good guides in winneries: knowledge about wine in general and not just a memorized scripts of the notes that we will find in the wine being sold to us.
In contrast to the above, their outdoor sitting space seemed very nice and would love to try it during spring or summer.

Held a birthday event and meetup for family. Had a great time and Nick was a great wine guide. We had been used to being able to pick this up in stores and now better understood some of the recent history. Very pleasant experience and joined the wine club as a result.
One star off for an employee wearing a "Team Trump" cowboy hat. Totally inappropriate and made a couple of the people in my party uncomfortable. I'm guessing maybe he was an owner, but still, why would you?

We were taken to Concannon recently and had a great time. We had avoided it in the past because it seemed too large and we knew there was an ownership change (we used to live in the area a long time ago). However, we were surprised at how much we loved the wines and they have done a lot of work to upgrade the grounds and the facilities. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. So now we plan are going back again in the future.

The new tasting room is warm and inviting. The use of brick and dark wood gives this tasting room a cozy intimate feel. The staff is well versed in the wines and the Concannon history. They can weave a yarn or two during your tasting experience. The tasting fee of $5.00 is a steal. The wines are nice and the price point ranges around $20-$40, a bargain compared to the overpriced Napa Valley wineries. Affter you finsh, asting walk next door to the Underdog Wine Bar and Restaurant for a small plates meal. While it nice in the winter dining indoors, the best time is in the summer when you can outdoors and enjoy the vineyard views from the patio. I'm sold on the entire experience.

I was there with 30 friends having booked our visit in advance for a tour, tasting, lunch and a visit to their shop. There is a fee for a tour & tasting but you can also visit Concannon and take in the grounds, views and shop with no entry fee and plenty of free parking. While I had been there about 15 years ago, I was totally unprepared for how much this place had grown and what a wonderful experience it was. There are now over 50 wineries in the Livermore Valley which has become an actual AVA. We entered through a long driveway with grape vines and hills as far as the eye could see. Concannon was founded in 1883 and is under the guidance of the 4th generation Concannon - John Concannon. Now in his 80s, John's father Jim, a wine rock star, was on the property and stopped by our group to chat. What a pleasure that was! Our tour was lead by Suzanne who was extremely knowledgeable and professional. This was followed by a generous wine tasting accompanied by box lunches we had ordered in advance. We were seated outside under the table-grape arbor on a perfect, bright sunny but sightly cool day. We could not have asked for a better experience. The wine was delightful and the food, from Concannon's Underdog Cafe was delicious. Our group chose between Smoked Beef Brisket or Chicken with Pea Pesto on Ciabatta sandwiches. There were 2 salads to choose from - mixed greens with pear and goat cheese or spinach with orzo - both with a light tasting house made vinagrette. Alternatively, you could have the soup of the day instead of salad which was black bean and very tasty. We opted to do without dessert which was a wise choice. We were stuffed. The portions were ample and I think each of us drank all the wine pours which were generous for a tasting. There were also pitchers of ice water, waste bowls and bowls of pretzels on the tables to help with the tasting. Most of our group ordered anywhere from 1 to 6 bottles of wine to purchase [white and red] which they picked up in the adjacent shop as we were getting ready to leave. Pretty black bags with the Concannon logo, made for bottles, were the complimentary wine carriers although you could have a box if you preferred. There was also the usual assortment of wine accoutrements, and tasteful mementos of the visit for purchase. There is also a refrigerator case with cold cuts and cheeses as well as chilled wine for a do-it-yourself picnic on the grounds. There are lots of great tables and chairs on the lawns as well as an outdoor wine bar. The Cafe has patio seating too. They are open for lunch and dinner. Weekends probably benefit from a reservation for the Cafe - during the week not so much. The Cafe only had a couple of people during a Tuesday lunch. So, weekdays are good times to go if you wish to avoid crowds. Guests are always welcome to bring their own picnics but might want to buy a glass of wine or a bottle to enjoy there. Further, there are many public events at the winery as well as a good wine club. I can't say enough about what a lovely experience this was. The facilities are wonderful, HP friendly, and full of history in addition to good wine. I can easily understand why many weddings, events and a range of private parties take place here. It might not be the only outstanding place in Livermore but it's got to be among the very very best. If you want a California wine experience but don't really want to drive up to Napa or Sonoma do yourself a big favor and go to Concannon and support the entire Livermore Valley. Also, downtown Livermore has come a long way. Don't miss it. Also, there's an outlet mall adjacent to the 580 freeway along with a cute miniature golf course, Livermore Airport and Cattlemen's steak house - this is/was cattle country and a rodeo still takes place every year. In short - there's lots to see and do in and around Livermore. You'll have a great time. Ps: I do not work for the Livermore Chamber of Commerce. I'm just happy living in one of the surrounding towns.

We had a light lunch with small plates at the Underdog Wine Bar. The plates are a little pricey, but very flavorful. We had the plates with two flights of reds:the neighborhood selection, and the Concannon flight. All three of us concurred that the Concannon selections were great, and worth the trip. My niece plans to return repeatedly, as she lives nearby. Beautiful grounds and scenic views. Can't wait to return!

Great place to do a wine tasting (on the day we visited we were able to try 7 different wines for $15) and then grab a bite (and of course more wine) at their wine bar. Staff were very welcoming and excellent help with any questions. The grounds are gorgeous and this is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Better help
Went there. I knew more bout the wines than Rod your server
He was slow
I've never gave us a wine chart
Incorrect info about the wine purchase
We had to ask or water
Slow as molasses

Great atmosphere and service. We had a very nice flight of local wines with cheese. The live music was very good. The grounds are very attractive and everyone was enjoying itun

nice but somewhat pricey finget foods. Grounds beautiful on a nice day. Wine always good. Outdoor lawn is nice for kids.

The wines and staff were so good that I signed up for their wine club. really enjoy their Petite Syrahs.

My husband and I arrived at the winery on a Thursday right when it opened at 11a. The tasting was $10 and included 5 listed wines and then a bonus wine. We enjoyed the wines and bought a glass to enjoy outside. We sat in some comfy chairs outside, but apparently these seats are only for the wine bar and we were told the seats were reserved although there was no one around and tons of seats available. We felt unwelcome and were a little disappointed by the attitudes. I guess I would suggest not to buy your wine from the wine tasting counter but instead buy it from the wine bar if you want to sit in the comfy chairs!

Beautiful and quite place , you can enjoy the view of the grape trees and test the wine and buy some if you want

The tour was very informative. The location is beautiful and the wine tasting room is educational. I will definitely go back. Try the attached restaurant for a delightful meal.

They have a large tasting room and lots of parking. There is also a small plate restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and a picnic area.

Invited by friends to a picnic with their children and grandchildren. Had a table on the lawn in the shade of the trees where we enjoyed various types of wine to accompany our own food. Blue skies and a light breeze made for a wonderful relaxing afternoon.

This is my second time visit Concannon, and I will absolutely recommend those you would like to have a wine tasting while if you don’t have enough time to go NAPA due to time limit. It is quite close to bay area from Fremont (about 30-40 mins drive), also my routine will visit Concannon first then go to Wente cuz Concannon will close earlier.
The wine tasting is quite good and actually I will suggest that if you are alcoholic already, you can ask for some small sample for the wine you preferred, the buy a glass of that wine. It will make you fresh and releasing to have their splendid wine and sitting in the front of grass ground.

Keep tasting fees down, don't be a Napa ! Wine is ok, the venue and winery are nice, glasses are nice too.

We absolutely love visiting Concannon. The Estate wines, the grounds, and the approachable personalities in the tasting room make this a destination worth visiting often. Most recently, we gathered with friends and celebrated a birthday under the pergola with a few bottles purchased in the tasting room. The vineyard is expansive and the tasting room is gorgeous. The special events are also worth every penny.

We were a group of 6 who had the pleasure of coming to this vineyard to sample the local quality wines, both red and white. As we had booked lunch elsewhere later we limited ourselves to wine tasting although there were excellent and popular eating facilities. We chose to stand in the bar and listen to our expert barkeeper tell us about each wine and its origins, grape type, optimal temperature and other interesting facts. Their most well-known wine is Petite Sirah and they were the first winery to bottle wine from this grape.
Not only did we sample high quality wines but were entertained by a very knowledgeable barkeeper- A very pleasant experience! Book in advance!

One of my favourite spots in California. Cannot be bothered to travel to Napa and Sonoma where you pay through the nose for very modest wines.Concannon at Livermore produces and or bottles some excellent wines from their own vineyards and as far afield as Russian River.Lunch in the Underdog Bar coupled with a "flight of wines" = 3 samples came to less than $30 pp.Just a sampling in Napa starts at $35.Oh I almost forgot they also market their own brand of Irish Whisky-"Concannon"....highly recommended via Safeway supermarkets.

Such a nice place to have a family or romantic gathering. Very peaceful, huge garden with wine tasting. Greenery place, a cool vineyard with a mystic house on the center. Still the view looks good even with gloomy weather so I recommend you to visit here sometimes. Near from the city with great hills surrounding.

What a wonderful place this is. The moment you step into their grounds you fell transported to a Fairy-tale world. The little 'castle', flowers everywhere and healthy vines.
We combined our lunch with wine tasting and it was a great idea. The food was delicious and the wine great.

This winery has wonderfully maintained grounds and plenty of parking. The staff are very enthusiastic about the wines they serve and making sure everyone is happy. As for the wine itself, I did not care for it, I could I go on and on on how it tasted like margarine but everyone's taste is different. The wine I love could be hated by others.

Poor Sevice at the Bar. Poor wine choices overall. The one saving-grace was the Port, but I wouldn't go out-of-my-way to get it. Thanks to my friend Mike for over-spending on a bottle of their Port for my birthday, however. Overall Over-Hypted Winery.

I chose to go to this winery after trying the 2010 chardonnay in Texas of all places. 2 different high end bars use this as their house wine and it's absolutely the best I've had and I'm not usually a chardonnay fan.
We entered the winery through the tasting room and paid $5 for a tasting of 8 wines. Because there were so many, we opted to order a side of olives flavored with rosemary and blood orange. We were also offered pretzels. The wines they offer in the tasting room are the reserve wines and many have won awards recently. I really enjoyed trying all of them. The server was so nice and we also tried 3 others that weren't on the normal tasting menu for free. She would have kept pouring but we had to stop.
We wanted to take the 12:30 tour so we waited outside in an area with tables and space heaters. Even though we weren't drinking or eating and we were in the restaurant, the staff was super nice in letting us hang out there until the tour. We were fortunate that we were the only 2 on the tour that day. Our guide, Mike was such a nice and knowledgeable host, telling us the history of the Concannon family, about the Victorian house that was on the property, about the vines, and the process itself from fermentation, aging and bottling. I was not aware the they also bottled the Cupcake brand at this facility.
We asked about the Heritage and the Port they made and Mike escorted us to the wine bar to try out whatever we liked. We each ordered a flight of 3 wines of our choosing and we ordered 2 small plates, the trio of sliders which comes with a crab cake, a hamburger with brie, and a pulled pork slider. Then to compliment our port, a chocolate tart. All were very delicious. The server was also very nice and helpful in helping us choose. We ended up buying bottles of 2 of the wines on our flight, the other we already had a case of at home! There is a nice lawn area for picnics so you may bring food if you'd like, there are nice shade trees and several people brought their children.
Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this winery to anyone. I may even join their club!

Beautiful location, nice grounds, and good wine. Perfect place for a picnic or meet up with friends.

I have been to Concannon multiple times before but it was always for the Harvest Wine Festival. This time myself and 4 friends were there on our own. I would suggest going into the main tasting room for wine tasting. We have Priority Wine Passes which they gladly honored. This included the flight of their Reserve Wines. They were all excellent! Besides the wonderful wine we had a great experience learning from Chris Vaos as he poured. He was very knowledgeable and welcoming. We never felt rushed during our tasting. They have a nice gift shop in the tasting room as well. This is a beautiful vineyard that should not be missed.

Really great wine tasting and great service, they explain very well the wines youre tasting, and always aware when you finished the wine to serve the next one

I was a driver for my parents during a trip Otto the Bay Area. We ended up here and took a tour of the grounds. We did not make reservations for a tour, which we should have investigated before just randomly showing up. Anyways, Stevie who happened to be there on his day off took us on a tour of the facility anyway. He had a real passion for being involved in the wine industry. Personally, I don't know anything about wine, and managed to learn a few things. My parents ended up signing up for their wine club.

Based in the Livermore Valley this is really one of the great California vineyards. All the staff are really attentive, the wine tastings are carried out as if you were the only person there, and the buildings and grounds are ideal for both family and corporate events.
And their wines and food and world-class.
I would also suggest that you join their wine club, truly excellent value.

Our group of friends thought we should have a picnic before the hot weather makes the venue unbearably hot. Livermore is located inland approximately half an hour drive from the East Bay. We chose this venue since we all live in the East Bay and going to Napa or Sonoma takes more travel time. You can get a table with eight chairs and stay until they close at 4:30pm if you buy at least a bottle of wine. No reservations required, but there are only about eight tables available so we went around 11:30am. They do not mind you bringing outside food and drinks. The grounds have good ambiance with trees and animal shaped bushes. There is a patio type area on the side of the building that you can also sit and taste the wines. We thought of visiting the Livermore Outlet Factory on our way back but we got too tired and decided to just head back home.

We had a lovely time attending Twilight Tunes at this winery. Tickets were available on line. You arrive and select your garden seats and enjoy music. You buy their wine by the bottle or glass. They have food truck on site and you can bring your own food if you’d like. Their shop is also open for deli selections. We thought it was a lovely relaxing experience.

Spent a beautiful sunny afternoon on the Concannon Vineyard patio. Our lunch was very fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend. I reserve 5 stars for awesome food (which this was) and a super special environment. If you are at the Livermore vineyards don't miss Concannon.

We popped in for a wine tasting and lunch on the drive over from San Francisco to Yosemite.
We don't know a huge amount about wine, but We were greeted by the lovely Gregg, who talked us through the 10 dollar wine flight and shared part of what is his clearly very in depth knowledge about wine and the history of the Concannon vineyard.
There were 7 1oz measures on the wine flight, which was plenty! We also had lunch at the Underdog restaurant. Again, the service was brilliant and the food was delicious.
Would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone!

Enjoyed great wine tasting with relatives in a special room at the winery. If you go ask for Ashley to educate you on their wines and history of the vineyards.

This is the best place to picnic in the area. The wine tasting room is very nice, the restaurant had great pairings and the grounds will have you hang out for the entire day!

This winery has been a favorite of mine for years and I’ve been a member for as long. I’ve noticed a trend over the years of more and more children there. Today, was the last straw. There were so many children playing all over the place. Additionally, I wonder who’s driving these little people home. I come wine tasting to enjoy some adult time with my friends. The bathroom smelled like diapers. I’m canceling my membership. There were baby strollers in the members only club that were there before we arrived, and still there afterwards. A group of 5 women walking back to their car, each with a child on their hip. A brother and sister pair wrestling in the tasting room. Just inappropriate for a wine tasting venue.

If you have a baby, don't visit on the weekends. Started our Livermore valley wine tasting trip here and was asked to leave and visit other wineries in the area that are family friendly. Wow, what arrogance.

My family and I stopped into the tasting room on July 25th. I am giving them two stars for their wines alone. Customer service was frankly, atrocious. I would give zero stars for customer service if I could. My sister wasn't feeling well during the visit, so she opted out of wine tasting almost immediately. She hadn't taken a sip of wine before she decided that she wasn't going to partake in the tasting.
We were served by Chuck, who seemed fairly knowledgeable about the wines upon initial introduction. However, it was apparent that he was more impressed with the group of girls that he was serving at the bar next to us, which was evidenced by the heavy-handed pours he was more than happy to dole out in stark contrast to the pours we were receiving. His general demeanor was anything but warm and inviting, which is pretty sad and inexcusable when you work in a customer service position in which you are forced to deal with people ALL day.
The icing on the cake was when my Dad decided to purchase two bottles of wine following the tasting. He purchased a bottle of the 2016 Mother Vine Cabernet Sauvignon and a bottle of the 2016 Nina's Cuvee Petite Sirah. At most distinguished wineries, tastings are comped or at least partially when you became a wine club member, or buy a bottle of wine. When my Dad asked Chuck about the winery's policy on compensation for tastings, Chuck was quick to let us know that Concannon only covers tasting room fees if you are a wine club member. I understand that Chuck isn't responsible for creating winery policies, but he is responsible for the condescending comment that came out of his mouth next...
Chuck had the audacity to retort, "Well I didn't charge you for HER tasting," insinuating that he was doing us a favor by not charging us for my sister not feeling well and choosing to sit the tasting out, even before she had ONE sip of wine. It truly is a shame that Chuck's lousy customer service and his brazen comments left such a bad taste in our mouths, as my family and I were largely impressed with the red wines we tasted that day.
Concannon should reconsider their policy on tasting room fees for customers who purchase at least a hundred dollars of wine, in the interest of competition with most wineries in the area.

This is one of the oldest winery's in Livermore. Anchoring their many wine offerings is the old vine petite sirah, but dont stop there, they have many single vineyard and blends that are worthy. A great place for my millennial kids, but alittle impersonal for me (im old school-dont need fancy). That being said, Concannon is a destination winery with cool outdoor seating, small plates and wine that encourage you to stay awhile.

Beautiful setting in the vineyards. This historical vineyard is one of the oldest in the country. Underdog wine bar has a relaxing patio, and yummy snacks to go along with your flight tastings. They know what they're doing!

I have to say I was surprised, having usually tasted in Napa or Sonoma. Great Petit Syrah's and Meritage's...but TON's and TON's of families out on the grass...had to be very careful leaving as kids would be running across the road regularly.

nice selection of wines, friendly helpful staff. on premiss place to eat, music in the afternoon. larger winery can get crowded. a tasting fee but was refunded on our purchase.

Went here for a business dinner. It was set up really nice, Food was excellent. Just found the bar set up a little lacking. Was just set up in a table. The servers were very informative. Highly recommend for a party

We visited Concannon during a weekday this summer. The grapes on the vines looked close to harvest. The location is very convenient in Livermore Valley. There is a nice restaurant and facilities for events and weddings. There were several groups of guests in the large tasting room.
The tasting was priced at $10 for a flight of five wines. Our server was quick to answer questions about the 'Glen Ellen' Victorian that graces the site and tasting notes about the wines. He generously poured us a couple of small tastes of wines that were not on the menu, according to our interests. My guest and I enjoyed the wines and thought they were very reasonably priced. If you get the chance, ask for a taste of the Port.
Our one disappointment was that there was only one person pouring in the tasting room while we were there and he was kept running from customer to customer. We would have enjoyed a little more of his time to get to know the winery's history.

This was a large vineyard, with a good sized tasting room. They didn't offer any tours of their facilities, which was a bit of a disappointment. The people serving the wine were knowledgeable, but the wine wasn't that great. I know they have lots of different kinds, and normally I find one that I love and purchase. I didn't fall in love with any of these wines. None of them did much for me. I'm not a wine expert, but I have been wine tasting in Europe and other places in North and South America, and I just didn't think there was anything that special about the tastes of these wines. It was nice scenery, and for $10 we got 5 wines, plus one bonus pour, which I thought was a good deal.

This was a very nice, large winery. We went on a Monday when the valley is much less croweded but only 50% of the wineries are open. They had beautiful grounds with lots of tables and shade trees for a nice picnic (must use their wine). The wines were very nice and the staff as well with some nice items to shop. Definitely a place to return and a label to remember.

Concannon provides beautiful grounds to enjoy an afternoon wine tasting with friends and family as well as a great venue for a team building event for your business or company. Early this week extraordinary tour services brought a group of over 30 guests from an internationally known corporation
to enjoy lunch and a business meeting under the natural grape vine canopy .
The friendly staff had the table fully set to accommodate a wine tasting as well as their business meeting. The group enjoyed the wonderful wines and enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch ( delivered by extraordinary Tour Services) while conducting its business and truly " team building "
I highly recommend Concannon for your personal or business outing at one of the areas foremost wineries. Extraordinary tour services will continue to bring its tour guests to this premier Livermore valley winery.

The staff worked hard to find something to please our palates, which made it fun and enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about palate preferences and aimed to please. I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised to find something I enjoyed drinking.

bought a couple of bottles in usa this yr i want to buy more please help in manchester

I love the Underdog Wine bar.
The wine recommendations are very good and the small plate items are delicious.

My husband and I are new to the wine game -- we enjoy trying different wines and always knew we wanted to get the real "California winery experience" but I, for one, was a little intimidated about what that would mean when we made it to a CA winery. We stayed in Livermore, and upon check-in at our hotel we found a visitors' guide with a map of the 50+ wineries in the Livermore region, so we decided to check out Concannon, simply because we read it has a lot of history. We are so glad we went!!!
For starters, Gary was an amazing host and he was very patient with us. We enjoyed an excellent wine tasting flight and explained everything to us in terms we non-wine experts could understand. After our flight, we'd found our favorites and enjoyed two glasses while strolling around the immaculately manicured grounds. It was a hot day, but sitting in the shade and catching a bit of a breeze with some delicious vino in hand made it an almost perfect afternoon. We ended up purchasing four bottles to ship home - it was so good that we didn't even feel the need to visit any other wineries on this trip.
We spoke to several people about the differences between Livermore wine region and Napa Valley, and everyone agreed that Livermore is the place to be. Still excellent wine at much less cost, and much less pretension or "wine snobbery." For casual enthusiasts like us, that makes perfect sense. Who needs Napa?

We were at the end of our CA vacation - on our way back to SFO from Yosemite. One last chance to visit a winery before leaving. We passed through Livermore (what a name for a town; but what a beautiful area!) and found Concannon Vineyard. Beautiful grounds, grape vines just budding, roses and other flowers everywhere. We were there early (opens 1100) and really know very little about wines. My hubby likes dry and I like "sweet". I had read previous review regarding the Port and asked about it. Even though they were not pouring the Port that day, they did just because I had asked about it. The previous reviewer was correct - it was wonderful! They allowed us to eat our lunch on the grounds and enjoy the glass of wine and the beautiful weather. To be honest, I am not looking forward to the humidity of Florida now. If you ever get a chance to visit, they are the oldest winery in the area, very hospitable and eager to help you pick the perfect wine for you.

I’ve been to Napa. Livermore was recommended & how right locals were! This winery is wonderful! David was our man for our tasting, spent lots of time with us, explaining the history of the vineyard. He was great! Livermore has great wine at half the price for tasting & tours as Napa. You won’t be disappointed

They do a really nice tour: there's a lot of history in this winery and they do a nice job of telling the story. The wines are good as well.

We wanted to taste wines along with a meal, and Concannon did not disappoint.
Food and wines were delicious, and we had a great port wine afterwards. Nice warm weather allowed shaded outdoor dining which was very nice, with comfortable sitting areas. Walked the grounds, some nice gardens and views.
Ah...could have stayed and drank wine all day!

Spent an afternoon at the winery sitting on the patio, eating a lite lunch and sipping wines. Food and drink was tasty. Portions of smaller size and just right. Had our photo taken when we arrived but have yet to receive it via email 10 days later. The grounds are gorgeous, staff were friendly, and weather was wonderful. It was worth the visit.

I have been to Napa and Sonoma multiple times and while the wines are good, they are usually overpriced.
I visited Concannon for the first time a year ago for a tour and have been back multiple times. This year I even decided to get a membership. The wines are great and reasonably priced.
The winery is beautiful and it is the perfect place to hangout with friends. Pack your picnic, buy a bottle of wine and enjoy the lawn! Even with a young baby, we are able to put him on the grass on a blanket with his toys and everyone is having fun.

Not from the area but I believe I found a new winery when im in town with an amazing white wine selection
Whether in the tasting room enjoying wines or outside at picnic tables or sitting on the patio at the Underdog bar, one can enjoy great wines and eats!
