Nice beach - not much to see except what looked to be cars in/out of the aparking lot

By Rich D |

Visited here while attending a LI wedding and wanted to see the beach.

The beach was clean and empty and fun for a short walk.

Don't know what was going on in the parking lot however, one car parked and people pulling up behind him, talking for a few seconds and then leaving.

A sale perhaps ?

HMMMM

Beach with amenities

By Ckcarlsn |

Nicely kept beach. Cafe serves variety of typically greasy beach fare. Parking day pass a pricey $40. Chairs, umbrellas available but we brought our own. Surf was very rough the day we were there. Lifeguard on duty.

Classic Hamptons

By Ollie Z |

Dunes, parking and a clean wide beach. Take time to walk around and collect some pebbles and breath in the ocean air and relax.

The best beach

By mpariz |

This is the busiest / most disputed beach in the Hamptons. This fine white sand beach has been voted as one of the ten best in the country

A great way to spend a summer day

By Jordyn I |

Coopers beach is the perfect place to go if you are looking to relax or just to have fun. There is a snack bar with bathrooms and picnic tables. While the majority of residents hold season passes, if you are a visitor you might want to park else where because during the busiest months day passes are about 70$. The sand is soft and silky. Sometimes the water can be rough, watch out for the flags.

Perfect beach on a perfect day

By techbear |

This beautiful, clean, quiet beach was basically empty on this warm, sunny September day. Those who were there were peaceful adults--no kids, no music--just the sounds of the ocean. The sand is deep and soft. The waves grew increasingly rougher and higher as the afternoon wore on. But the best part? No entrance fee and lots of close parking! The casino facilities were open and clean, but the restaurant was closed. There are benches on the sand or tables and seats in the shade at the casino.

Waaaay too crowded!!

By Suzanne A |

It's a nice beach with all the amenities, but entirely too crowded for me!! There are bathrooms and a snack bar, so that's a plus

Beautiful and Relaxing

By JamHam |

This is a wonderful beach to relax and enjoy the beauty on all side. The ocean in front, sitting on beautiful sand and the fabulous homes behind. Yes it is for the rich and famous but also for those who feel that way. Take a blanket and enjoy the wonderful beauty of this area.

Crowded beach but beautifully kept.

By PhilMNYC1964 |

I quickly ran out of my car while my spouse kept our car standing on the side of the road. The ocean was a dream. The facility is perfect and the beach is superb.

Nice beach but nothing special

By glopez |

The beach itself is very nice and clean. The parking is over priced at $40/day. (There is no where else to park). The food was not too good either. My burger was under cooked (and I like my beef medium done).

THE beach

By Jaycera |

If you're in Southampton and looking for a beach to visit, look no further. Accessible for nonresidents without a permit as soon as Labor Day, ample parking and amenities in season.

Very nice beach for NY

By TheSzewczyk |

We love to go to the beach at Hampton, this is the best beach we visited so far, very clean, not too crowded, yes you have to pay 40 USD for parking but its worth it .

Village of Southampton Beach

By Topgun95 |

This beach is for the residents of the Village of Southampton only with a permit. Non residents can get a very costly permit also through the village. After 5 PM it is open to the public. On certain Wednesday evenings in July and August they showcase a band around 6-8 PM which is a nice evening for families. You can take a cooler packed with food and enjoy dinner under the stars on the beach. They do have a steel ramp down the sand so people in wheelchairs or with braces can easily manuever to secure a spot on the beach. They have a concession stand with food and ice cream. There are restroom facilities too.

Prestine beach

By Technoco |

Please be prepared to pay heavy parking charges for this beach.

But still it is worth to visit this peaceful beach with Many nice houses on shore for view.

Lovely Walk and Not Busy

By Hilary R |

I went here by myself during September, and it was really lovely. The parking was free (while I was there) and the beach was beautiful and clean. It's quiet and wasn't busy in the slightest.

Our FAVORITE beach!

By TinaG1971 |

We have been going to Cooper's Beach for 10 years now! BY FAR the most beautiful beach in ALL of NY and NJ. I love how pristine it is.Paying $40 to park for the entire day is priceless, when you have showers, clean bathrooms and the CLEANEST beach! There are no rif-raf on the beach and you can almost ALWAYS spot a celebrity! We went yesterday which was still fourth of July weekend, and it wasn't PACKED at all.

It's a great place for couples families with small children or kids in high school or college.
We drive all the way from Harrison NY for the day. We leave around 7am, get there by 8:15, have breakfast at the Hampton Maid Inn, and get to the beach by 9:45. It's a perfect way to spend a hot summer day!

Upscale Neighborhood

By Jeremy T |

Coopers is a beach I have been to many times over the years. It is near the house I had a few summers ago. I just went there two days ago still the same sand and water. You need a permit to park during the summer season.

Great beach

By Chris-Kim_ABM |

This place is great. They have the only small cafe on the beach, which sells water/sodas/and snack food and ice cream type stuff. Oh and they have lifeguards and even a handicap ramp almost to the water. Parking is $40 a day per car load

beautiful beach

By moG77 |

I disliked NOTHING. It is a lovely beach, and the drive-around up top is great for sitting and watching the waves. This is a great beach.

Pricey and rocky

By mjgovani |

Crystal clear beach, very clean but be ready to pay a $40 parking fee and face some big rocks on the beach.

Beautiful

By Safaricath |

If you don't want to pay $40 to park, go about 1.5 miles down from Coopers BCH and part for free. The beach is clean, not many people here on this Monday. No facilities , but you could possible return to Cooper's beach to use their's. We didn't try and not sure if they allow. Enjoy!

Beautiful beach

By Paul S |

We enjoyed a great day on this huge stretch of lovely, clean white sand beach, swimming in clear waters and snooping on the rich people in the palatial homes that line the beach. When we went the beach was very quiet, despite it being a gorgeous August day: I guess this is due to the obscene $40 parking charge which is presumably there to attract the suckers (like us) and keep the riff-raff out. Probably worth it if you are going to spend a day there, or come after five and avoid the charge.

Family

By sunnut2018 |

What a lovely. Spot! BeAutiful sand! Lovely view!! Great place to relax and unwind!! Parking is adequate . Definitely worth a stop!

Great Beach

By Shelby C |

This is a wonderful beach and worth the price of admission. Where else can you sit on the most beautiful beach in the world, have a lifeguard, clean bathrooms and get something to eat. The food is typical fast food fare but its THERE.

Coopers Beach

By melgoleski |

Clean and beautiful and not far away. Has a board walk to the ocean which makes it convienent and easy to acess. Also bathrooms and outdoor shower.

Very crowded in the summer season

By Verea74 |

This is the main Southampton beach and it is also open for non -residents, given that you get a non- residentialpermit for $300 and you are willing to pay $50 to park your car each day. The cafe is overpriced and greasy too.
You can rent chairs and umbrellas if you are willing to pay more.
If you are a resident you are better off going to the less crowded beaches along the line like Georgia beach.

As good as it gets in New York

By George K |

This is by far my favorite public beach on Long Island..it blows away any beaches in Nassau and most of Suffolk county. The sand is perfect, the water is very clear by NY standards, and you can easily avoid the crowds if you want to. Very good facilities and a food shack which actually has pretty good food which you don't usually expect from a beach stand. A scenic drive getting here, but don't expect any other restaurants or things to do close by, it's all residential. Sure no one WANTS to pay $40 to park, but it's well worth it every time. If it was cheaper the crowds and garbage would multiply, so I'll gladly continue to pay whatever they charge.

Good spot

By Kapricca |

$50 to park, Every day. Chair rental was $10 but fairly good chairs. They have umbrellas too. Bathrooms are close, the beach isn’t very deep so it’s not a far walk. They have a really good snack bar with lots too offer (sodas, water, smoothies, snacks, ice cream and full hot food menu). If you’re going to be here for the day it’s a perfect place. Lifeguards on duty too.

Beautiful beach in South Hampton

By nychick819 |

Love this beach. So beautiful. Very clean, plenty of food choices at their snack bar. Five minutes from downtown South Hampton.

GORGEOUS - RIGHT NOW, TOO!!

By Suddenly I |

Today, Christmas Day, I was the only lucky person on Cooper's Beach in the late afternoon. There were powerful, big waves, lots of great white splashing surf, and delicate fog…..the atmosphere was a lovely pale gray and just beautiful. Plus, it was almost 60 degrees, too. So, feel free to visits our best beaches all year long!

One of the best beaches in the county. If not ht world

By DoveJJ |

I've traveled all over the world and gone to beaches in France, Italy, Greece and Thailand, as well as all over the United States. All these beaches are stunning beautiful in their own way. The unique beauty of the beaches in the Hamptons, particularly Cooper's Beach, is a sight to see. I just love it here and can't get enough. It is a must visit.

Awesome Beach Day !!

By Greg T |

I’ve seen reviews calling this beach one of the best in the country. Definitely one of the best in New York.
So I wanted to see for myself. So glad I did !!
It was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday during Labor Day weekend. It cost 50.00 to park and I read some reviews and people were complaining about the price. It was worth every dollar !!! I ate the 17.00 fish tacos too and they were delicious !!!
Anyone who complained about the price is just cheap. I’m a blue collar worker but it was still affordable. I wouldn’t pay that every day but to experience such a nice beach in SOUTHHAMPTON It was fine. The beach is surrounded by multi-million dollar homes. The beach was spotless and the water was crystal clear. I live in Nassau County and if you are not a resident they charge you 50.00 to get on the beach. Even Long Beach is 10.00 a person.
So anyone that doesn’t want to spend the money go to Rockaway Breach or spend 10.00 to go to Jones Beach.
I had a great Day at Coopers Beach. They had a sand castle contest, the food was overpriced but good and the water was beautiful.
Can’t wait to go back next year. You can always pack a lunch and you can even park in town and take a free shuttle or an Uber to the beach if you don’t want to pay. It was an awesome day trip !!!

Always a favorite - especially in the off season

By christinescircle |

One of the most beautiful beaches in the Hamptons. Has a good variety of food when the cafe is open. Gets crowded in the summer, but if you don't mind sharing the beach it's all good.

Delightful Beach

By nmber23 |

Sand, water and atmosphere were pleasant. Short walk to snack bar and bathrooms.
Enjoyed our time at the beach, but not something I would do everyday with a $50 parking fee.

Highly Rated Beach/ Pricey Parking

By Bob R |

Spent a short time here/ slightly off season mid-week, so it wasn’t packed with people. Consistently rates as one of America’s best. Also rates as one of the most expensive to park.

BEAUTIFUL

By Dallas_TravelingDiva |

We had a large group that stopped here to hang out and catch some rays. It was BEAUTIFUL. The beach wasn't too crowded and we were able to find a great spot for all of us. Oh and great part is we made a few new beach friends while there. It's a win-win! The beach is clean and the water is crystal!

Nice and relaxing

By Anjali P |

Although you pay 40.00 for parking, it was fine. The beach was clean and beautiful. The other visitors were respectful of personal boundaries unlike other local beaches on LI where it can attract a loud, inappropriate crowd. I would come back here again with my family.

Lovely

By Douglas H |

Beautiful and clean but if you don't have a hotel pass, which some hotels provide, parking can be expensive.

Great beach quiet and not too busy

By Lucille3529 |

Costly for $40 a car, but very nice and not busy full. Easy to find and nice food place, the only problem is when the tourist come and bring a load of tourists.

It's a Beauty

By pama woortman |

It's a beautiful beach. There are miles of sand, the powerful Atlantic, and Southampton village minutes away, as well as amenities right there if you need them.
Coopers is a beach in the American East coast style- beautiful houses on the dunes and the village and cafes a short drive away. But this arrangement means that there is a stronger sense of peace on the beach itself.
If you don't have a village pass be prepared to pay for parking. Better to take a bike!

Therapeutic Beach Day

By clyonsrn |

Gorgeous sand and waves, attentive life guards. There is a walkway to half way to the water making it easy for a cooler.
You can rent chairs and umbrellas. Parking fee is $40. Worth it...

Beautiful Beach

By Deanna D |

I usually come to Cooper's Beach for the summer concert series. I love this beach. I have lived out here on the East End for my whole life, yet when I come to Cooper's, I feel like I am on vacation! The concession stand and bathroom facilities are excellent too.

Beachbum

By NoelCopp |

The sun was warm and the people were friendly. There were children playing and the adults could play volley ball. They had outdoor showers and the bathrooms were indoors. They were well maintained and they had a concession where you could get food, ice cream, cold drinks and suntan lotion.

Stunning Beach!

By SDGatti |

Cooper Beach is beautiful! It is an incredibly wide beach that seems to go on forever. We were able to catch free shuttles from in town to the beach (we took the train so we did not have a car). We also rented the most comfortable beach chairs for $10 each for the entire day. The facilities were clean too. Can't wait to return to Coopers Beach!!

Beautiful beach with a Lifeguard.

By KAL28211 |

One of many beautiful Hamptons beaches with clean bathrooms and food service. Not the closet beach to town but one of the few with lifeguards. Wheelchair accessible.

Voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the US

By Kathryn A |

Stunnng soft sand that glistens in the sun ..finally wheelchair accessable. Great eats as well for the burger lovers. July 4th fireworks very visible and a great family event from this beautiful beach. Need a beach sticker to park.

Beautiful beach

By Geoff M |

What a gem on Long Island. The beach is beautiful. We went here on a 90 degree July day and enjoyed the sun and surf. Good bathrooms for changing in. Lots of parking at $40 per day but that helps keep the rift raft out. No loud music or young party people. The water was super clean. I'm 6 ft and could see my feet no problem. Driving to the beach, you will b amazed at the home and how the other half live!! We will b back!!

Great beach for hanging out

By RinaBlue13 |

This is a great beach for families and big groups. The beach is wide, fine sand, lots of sun. What's not to like?

Ha. Ha. The #1 rated beach????

By Patricia J |

You've got to be kidding! Have you not been to Long Beach Island in New Jersey? An 18 mile long white sand beach, meticulously cleaned every night, with lifeguards every 100 yards. Absolutely gorgeous. The swimming beaches alternate with surfer areas and surf fishing areas. You can watch the regular surfers, the kitesurfers and the fishing people when you're not swimming in the extremely clean water with dozens of sandbars. Little shops and cafes within a few blocks walk from nearly every part of the beach. Ha. Ha. Coopers Beach: two lifeguards, $50 parking for what - four dozen cars? and average sand. Tiny cafe and store. Zero access to most of the beaches because of all the walled off gardens and mansions along the South Shore. Nothing to do and nothing to look at. I guess you guys must own the media machine that says this is the best beach. What criteria are you using when you say this is the best beach??????

Amazing

By Rtk |

As nice as it gets.
Great food at reasonable prices for the Hampton's
Worth the parking fee if you can’t bike there. ..

Best place in the world

By Stay06220178383 |

This place I always go back to when I go to south Hampton it’s my comfort place and where I will always call home south Hampton and coopers will be my favorite place until the day I die

Fun in the sun

By Ellen B |

Was impressed with the cleanliness of the beach and restaurant area. Very pricey entrance fee, There are lifeguards and beach rentals available. There is also a shuttle called Free Ride that will transport you to the beach from the village area which is a wonderful a advantage.

love the place but its for locals not travelers

By contactingyou2020@yahoo.com |

nice beach for local folk not site seekers or day travelers. When last we visited many a moon ago it seemed to be a site for nude bathers which the kids found fuynny and did not belong there but little did we know then.

Nice

By gaitan1 |

This is real nice location and good place to stay. Rooms are nice. Very quiet area lots of parking specially if you have van

Beach day

By Emma S |

We arrived on a Saturday and I wasn't sure whether we would get in the parking lot but there was lots of spaces. Yes the $40 parking fee is a lot but if it supports all the amenities of the beach then that's fine. Great beach, lots of space if you want to walk. Ordered some food at lunch which was good and there were bathrooms and showers. Hope the weather improves so I can go again.

Gorgeous in the fall

By Cleone S |

No crowds but the weather was great even if the water was cold. We came here every day we were here just to soak up the ambiance -- we don't have a beach in our native Arizona.

Beautiful Hampton Beach

By Don P |

Very clean and quiet beach plus the beach has a very nice restaurant - even saw some whales and dolphins passing by!

Amazing place to drive up and watch the surfers

By Jack Bobby Lou M |

An incredible place to see the awesome beauty of the ocean, fantastic sunsets, surfers plying their craft and views of beaches that stretch for miles. You don't have to leave your car if you don't want, there is a ramp you can drive up to beach level and see everything. Highly recommend you stop there.

Best beach ever!

By Smprongr |

I'm not a beach girl but I did love it here. Not overcrowded, nice crowd, pristine beach, nice restroom facilities and decent food.

Just Beachy

By metalmaiden |

This beach seems to be on a lot of lists for bests beaches. Not sure why? It's just a beach; soft beige sand, ocean water, waves, lots of people, the usual. It's nice but no wow. What it is is one of the few public beaches in an area that's mostly private. There are some facilities here like a snack bar and restrooms. Parking is $40 but hay, it's the Hamptons.

There's lots of beach here so walk down, aways from the entrance, and you can find a less crowded space to sunbath.

Also, if you go early, drive a little farther down Meadow Lane where there's a small, free parking area (do not try parking in the resident only places/spaces along the way though!) If you're lucky you'll get a space. If not, you got to view some of the most magnificent houses on the planet in a dream location. Enjoy!

A mixed experience

By Jennifer |

It is a beautiful, clean beach. However, they are not offering $50 day parking passes for nonresidents on the weekends right now. They offer them on weekdays and there is also a sign which says they are only allowing 50% parking lot capacity. Another option is free parking on road D 2 miles down but the street is really small and parking fills up quickly and there are no facilities on that side. Another option which might save you money is parking your car about a mile away at a street parking spot and walking/uber or lyft. Showers are currently out of service too. I would say worth it to avoid crowds are other beaches but not sure it's worth the hassle at the same time.

Clean sand, gorgeous location

By chelimon |

Cooper's Beach is beautiful, with well maintained sand and beautiful surf. Unfortunately for out-of-town visitors, parking is $40 between 9:30-5pm during the summer. Easiest way to get around this is to be dropped off and picked up, which we also did. Usually, we went from 8-9:15am during the week and it was beautiful. Sparsely populated, with walkers, joggers and beach enthusiasts, it was a wonderful way to start the day. There are conflicting signs on the beach, with the ramp to Cooper's beach stating "NO DOGS ANYTIME" yet other signs stating "all dogs must be on leash at all time." Unfortunately as is often the case, not everyone believes that the leash law pertains to their darling dog, which we encountered once during the 5 days of going to Cooper's beach. The dunes are beautiful and the sand is perfect for walking and getting a great start to the morning.

Great beach! Pristine, great ocean, conveniently located

By Satish A |

My most favorite beach in the Hamptons. I am a Suffolk county resident and I love this beach. It is clean, the ocean is gorgeous and it is not expensive to park.

Wonderful Beach

By Richard V |

Cooper's Beach is a gem! The water is very clean and the sand very soft and clean. Umbrellas and beach chairs can be rented and set up and taken back.

Sand, water and sun!

By MissDCWilson |

One of the best free and relaxing gifts of nature, the beach. I love every corner of Southampton so the beach is one of those perfect spots that everyone should visit and enjoy. Walking, swimming, sunbathing, reading, sleeping and even talking with friends or relatives any activity you choose to do at Cooper's Beach will be enjoyable and unforgettable.
Pay this beach a visit. Sunblock and a light jacket must be considered along with you camera.

Nice beach

By JEC111 |

There is a snack bar, restroom so and showers. During the season, parking is $40.00. There are nice views of some of the houses nearby.

Beautiful beach

By FleurDeLis1222 |

We had a great day here! Parking was $40, but they also had bathrooms, lifeguards, and a concession stand. We had lots of fun walking on the beach, relaxing on the sand, sightseeing, and enjoying the beautiful weather. I've been to the Virgin Islands, South Beach, and Gulf beaches, and I wouldn't say this beach was the best for swimming (the water was a chilly 69 degrees Fahrenheit in mid-July), but it was an overall fun experience.

Lovely Ocean and Beachfront

By BlueHeronOakland_MI |

Troy to go to Cooper's Beach before July 4th and you will find less crowds. Great beach and expanse of sea. HOWEVER, parking is $40 per day!

Sugar white sand

By Liv T |

Beautiful beach in the early spring, still quiet and perfect for a peaceful walk and relaxing. Cant wait to come back.

Beautiful beach, May 17 not charging parking yet.

By TexasGingerbread |

We went here on Monday. They are not charging for parking yet, rumor has it that it will start Memorial Day. It was a gorgeous day, but I would pay attention to the wind. It was 20mph winds so it was hard to lay down on the beach and not have sand blowing. The day before the wind was 5mph so that would have been a better day to hit it. If you're not laying on the ground (no chairs or umbrellas available yet) you should be fine.

GORGEOUS beach. The water isn't a blue as I thought it would be, but the sand itself is perfect and makes for a beautiful walk.

Great preserved beach

By Staugreg |

Being from Florida we live our sand; well Coopers beach has a ton of it. Dunes galore and a wide sandy beach before hitting the water. It was a little cold when we visited but I bet it is absolutely glorious in the summer. Great beach.

Stormy Day Brought Great Waves

By jsh326 |

I love to see the ocean in turmoil - as long as I am not in it. The stormy weather provided the perfect opportunity. Only a few people were on the beach. The sand was nice. The area was clean. Fun to be on a northern beach in the summer!

Beautiful sand and free parking after 5pm

By anilnwadhwani |

The beach is close to the southampton inn. They provide free shuttle service from the inn, The sand is clean and the beach is amazing. Great place to pick up take out and eat dinner at sunset

Fabulous Beach

By Peter M |

This beach was very clean, relaxing and peaceful. One of the coolest things was the long carpet like rugs that lined the walkway to the beach. It was also great to know that dogs are allowed, as long as they are leashed. A nice feature of the hotel we stayed at was it offered shuttle service to and from this location.

A beautiful beach

By Robert M |

A very nice beach that invites you to dream. Sun beds and umbrellas can be rented for a fee.

A great beach!!

By Natalia R |

Had a really fun time, recommend highly. The kids had a very easy time and it was easily accessible and clean.

Nice spot to visit in Southampton

By Aabbady |

This one of places you need to visit when you visit this area. It is clean quiet large enough to find place to set or walk on the beach

Summer visit to see my son

By lynnr12016 |

Excellent beach with a delicious snack bar! Very nice to have a clean bathroom! Beautiful beach! The workers at the snack bar were very friendly and provided us with an excellent breakfast one day and a tady lunch another day! The menu offered many different delicious choices and the cold refrigerated drink selection was great! Would love to come back!

#1 beach

By chaliem1 |

Dr. Beach ranked this as the #1 beach several years ago. It has a nice handicap mat, so all can come down and enjoy this beautiful prestine beach. Locals are fortunate to enjoy this beach year round. Even though the busiest times are in July and August, the best is in September. The ocean water is at it's warmest

One of our super and social beaches!

By USLarimar |

We love this beach when we are out with family and friends!! Great beach and amenities and ACTION!!

If you want a more peaceful beach with less action- couples or families with small kids...
try Dune Beach, Towd Point or Long Beach in Southampton. Note- you must be a resident/ homeowner for these more secluded beaches and have a permit. I think of you rent, you could ask owner to assist with permit ?
Dr. Alexandra Chan Katz, Southampton, New York.

#1 BEACH per Dr. Beach

By chaliem1 |

This beach is beautiful in the winter, spring, summer and fall. The village of Southampton keeps it in pristine shape year round. We have enjoyed many functions, such as the Summer concerts, the Sand Castle contest and of course the fund raiser "POLAR BEAR PLUNGE" held in December to help raise money for HUMAN RESOURCES OF THE HAMPTONS. It is not surprising to see more people at this last function than those who come on the 4th of July. As many as 600 swimmers and 1200 watching. Be prepared for large crowds druning the summer as well. I have been fortunate to be going there for the last 65 years. It is a piece of paridise.

cooper's beach

By Jonathan C. |

Consistently rated as one of the best beaches in the US. We visited before the crowds came and it was quite foggy, but the sand was soft and so easy to walk on. It's quiet and secluded - and the day parking passes are quite expensive.

Good beach

By maggot65 |

A nice beach in all. Expensive parking (40 bucks) in high season. Waves break hard on the shore when they are big. 2 showers near the parking.

Beautiful!

By edmooreadv |

Great Beach! Great Waves! Beautiful sand! Parking is $40 but if you arrive before 930 it's free! It's worth getting up early . No one is there.

Not happy

By Kimi K |

Would not recommend staying here! I am here since 4 days now and neither my cooker nor the living room heating is working. I have been to the reception 5 times to ask for these problems to be looked at but nothing happens. No one seems to be bothered once you are here and have paid. For me it’s definitely the first and last time I stayed here.

Nice beach but....

By Chuck F |

Beach is very nice and the snack bar is very good, but the daily parking fee is $50.00. Robert Moses Beach is a much better value.

Excellent white sand beach with warm water!

By Stefanie Karangelen |

Excellent white sand beach with warm water! Great escape from New York City and one of the best beaches in Long Island!

Beautiful beach with food and facilities

By dave809 |

Cooper's Beach is a great place to spend a day on the beach. In addition to having beautiful Hamptons beach there is a snack shack with surprisingly good food including lobster rolls. They groom the beach daily so it's nice and clean. .

Best beach!

By Jen K |

What is not to like? Clean ocean water? Groomed smooth sand? Great snack bar? Coopers beach is the BEST!

Southampton in September

By Coastal766710 |

Gorgeous ocean! Crystal clear. If you like shells, this is not the place for you but the waterworn stones and seaglass are everywhere. Very cool in September but the quiet at the end of the season is worth the wait!

Great beach, expensive parking

By Fred940 |

it is expensive to park- $40 for the day, but almost worth it. gorgeous. lifeguards. nice snack stand. good WC

Great Beach

By Allen F |

All that is missing here is the option to buy an ice cold beer to enjoy on shaded deck. A great deal for locals to park here, but visitors might prefer the free shuttle from Southampton Village. Beach restaurant serves variety of easy to enjoy summer foods at fair prices.

Great sand, Great Beach

By mannym99 |

Nice facilities, excellent quality sand. $40/car to park, but I didn't mind one bit, as the place was clean and free of the trashy riff-raff of say a Jones beach.

Amazing

By StephenCross |

Super beach - very long and deep. Super sand and great parking ...for $50 a day! It’s a lovely area . Recommended

Nice Beach

By GIOVANNA G |

Cooper's Beach is a nice beach in the middle of one of the most expensive areas in Long Island. Area is safe and the beach is pretty clean, without a lot of guests or visitors, which is great for a tranquil stay. However, parking is pricey (according to the neighborhood where it is located) and the water is not the best (sea is too rough) if you are going with young children.

Coopers beach is awesome

By vmangano |

Coopers gets crowded quickly on the weekends so get there early. You can rent whatever you need and the food is excellent. Fantastic beach awesome lifeguards and the occasional dolphin is a bonus

Great beach. Great Infrastructure. Totally worth visiting.

By André F |

Great beach. Great Infrastructure. Totally worth visiting.

This is a great beach for everyone. There is a little surfing, great bar, good access. Great for summer.

Clean Ocean Water?! Who Knew?!

By Jessica R |

It's April 2017, and it's the first time I've ever been to the Hamptons. Typically, I find myself at the Jersey Shore, or Florida. In other words, I find myself in brown water, or crystal clear water. Who know that some oceans on the northeastern sea board had clean and clear water. I went in April, so it was low season and it was much too cold to swim, but this beach is so beautiful and the homes and few, so they don't obstruct any views. Truly a gorgeous beach, but I'm sure in high season, it's extremely busy, and it's $40 to park. I'd bike if it were summer.

love it !!

By isabella g |

i love it !!! the sand , is just so nice the water is really cold but apart from that its a really clean beach nice people there , also they have a nice concession were you can get food even though in my opinion is a little expensive parking you need to pay $40 but apart from that everything is just beautiful :D they also have bathrooms but no showers and chair rentals i believe for $10

Nice beach but nothing there

By Louis S |

Nice beach but nothing there apart from a car park, cafe and big houses. Our impression was that there is not much encouragement to visit the beach, e.g. no promenade, restaurants, bars, kiosks, nor even any real footpaths or directions from town. We presume this is to appease the owners of the USD 40m houses that dominate the sea view. There is no beach "culture" considering this is a seaside resort

Picture Perfect Summer Setting

By DraeK1 |

Where else can you find an amazing beach, great people watching, awesome sand, waves, concessions?

Cooper's Beach!! Only complaint is the $40 if you're not a resident...if you are Cooper's Beach here we come!

Decent beach with rentals available

By TC GREN |

Nice sandy beach with options to rent chairs and umbrellas. Long expanse that connects to Gibson beach if you head further east. They had beach volleyball available when I was there.

Nice beach with ample parking

By PinaT520 |

One of the favorite beaches of the town. There's a cafe with food and drink options. Beach tags are controlled seriously

Beautiful beach

By Paty B |

This is the place to see and be seeing. Perfecto for everyone, volleyball nets, restaurant for snacks, drink and appetizers. Beautiful!

Beautiful beach

By Sebastian |

Raining.....Not the right day for a beach, but we went anyway....

Beautiful beach, wide, soft sand, and with many beautiful shoulders ashore.

Perfect Beach

By Kim S |

WOW! This is one of the prettiest beaches I have ever been to. I never would have found it if our innkeeper did not drive us there, as it is very remote. The snack bar was closed but the bathroom facilities were open and clean. It was late September so it was very empty, but I get the impression it is always very clean and well kept. Highly recommend!!

Perfect but the parking price

By Mark B |

I love Southampton and we vacation there often but as we are not local we pay 50 dollars for parking which, in my opinion, is to too much. But I love the beach, our dogs enjoy it, it is huge, clean and beautiful. I find a peaceful spot to sit and read while getting some sun!

Amazing beach

By Uphototraveler |

Absolutely gorgeous beach - serene, clean, and not overcrowded. Great facilities and a quick walk from the parking lot. Parking is $40 for non-residents.

It's worth the parking fee

By DollyCakes35 |

For the $40 parking fee, it's worth it. This beach has a bath house, rentable umbrellas/chairs, lifeguards and a snack shack. The beach is very large, and the water is beautiful on the east end of Long Island. For a family day, or relaxing as a couple, I recommend this beach. It is never overcrowded and has plenty of parking. Let's face it - not many will pay $40 to go to the beach!

A great beach in Southampton

By Anna-Maria |

We had such a great morning swimming here and slowing down to catch some sun. We grabbed a quick breakfast at the cafe at the beach (very plain and no frills). I'd recommend bringing your own chairs and umbrella as there is only shade near the public restrooms.

Ten Best in America

By PBP K |

"Dr. Beach" consistently rates this in the Top 10 Beaches in America, and for good reason. It'll cost you a sunburned arm-and-a-leg for a day permit, if you're not a "local," but it's well worth the trip.

great walking beach

By images12 |

beautiful beach great for walking running and really enjoying a pristine beach. Near town and can walk for miles.

$40 Non-Resident Parking Fee

By travelgal617 |

Nice beach with good concession stand and chairs and beach umbrellas available for rent. Rest rooms available. Beach was busy on a Sunday June perfect beach day. Enjoy the people watching!

beautiful

By hotelguest4321 |

It was a little cold at the time, but we still enjoyed collecting seashells and walking on the beach.

Beautiful beach

By LAW64 |

This is a lovely beach in The Hamptons. To get to it you drive by a selection of beautiful houses. You have to pay for parking. There is a basic cafe and loos and you can hire umbrellas. Relaxing.

The perfect day away from Brooklyn

By KayleeKB |

My husband and I were looking for a day trip to the beach from Brooklyn. After Sandy closed Fort Tilden, we were desperate to find a new go-to spot. This is it. Gorgeous beach, snack bar, umbrellas and chairs to rent. Bring a cooler for beverages and make sure to take a walk down the beach to look at the beautiful houses.

The Best Beach on The East End

By Froggy80 |

That's not me saying that, it's Doctor Beach, who rates beaches around the US in an effort to pick those that are the best. Coopers Beach is ALWAYS in the Top 10 and frequently in #1 place, even when going up against Hawaii and California.

Beautiful but crowded

By Marie L |

The beach itself is beautiful but the people there are crazy and there are too many of them there. You can find beaches just like it and better without the crowds and annoyances. But, I have to say the concession stand is lovely and the fries are fantastic!! There is also a mat leading down to near the water which is very helpful:)

Love this beach!

By Amanda S |

I went to this beach for my birthday two years in a row, the clearest waters on long island and the nicest sand! so clean!

Absurd!

By Michael S |

One of the 10 best beaches in the world. LMAO
OK... I just got off the floor... the Southampton Chamber of Commerce probably dubbed it this way. But then of course EVERYTHING in the Hamptons is better - right?
This is the most ridiculous statement I have ever come across... I have traveled the world [3x now] and can name at least 20 off the top of my head, that would put this Long Island beach to shame. I used to live ON this beach, and each evening when walking the sands I would laugh at the absurdity of this "boast". Get real -

Great Beach

By Dorianna P |

Lovely beach with great lounge chair and umbrella rental options! Concession's are bit on the pricey side, however that's to we excepted. Washrooms are conveniently available right and clean. Looking forward to my next visit!

Busy Enough to be Popular - Quite Enough to be Quaint

By Vegas_Fisherman |

Labor Day weekend well spent with friends who took the train up there for the day from NYC. You really only need a day to see the beach and village.

Beautiful but chilly

By PrezLife |

The beach itself is great...clean...not a lot of people. However, this is the northeast so the water tends to be very...very...very cold. Dont forget to bring your money for parking.

Beautiful Sand, Very clean beach - Very Cold Water!

By JennyinFlagler |

We had a great time here! Beautiful, soft sand and absolutely the most litter-free beach I have been to! The ocean is a little rough, which makes for a beautiful view. Since the water is frigid, you don't need to go into the water anyhow! We had lunch from the snack bar - for $78!!! Very expensive food, but very well-prepared.

Great spot

By Vi S |

Cooper beach is a great place to hang out with friends or by yourself. The place is very calming and relaxing. The drive in is amazing with the massive homes and the layout of the land. Check it out if you have time.

Beautiful Beach!

By newyorknatives |

Crystal clear, sandy beach.Nice atmosphere. We go in all seasons...the ocean has it's charm ,even in winter.

Beachtime

By melli57 |

Loved it, great beach! Great accomodations; chair rentals, great lunch short orders, good food, bathrooms, lifeguard on duty, clean facilities etc

Beautifu sandy beach

By smthibs |

Cooper's is always ranked as one of the best in the country for a reason. Lovely wide sand beach, great for walking and lounging. No crowding here!

This beach is always listed in the top ten beaches in the USA - and for good reason!

By ivykarkut |

It has parking, lifeguards, restrooms and a food concession. It is incredibly beautiful. Life is good on the beach - sunrise to sunset.

Beautiful

By KittyGray2018 |

Just beautiful and relaxing loved the breeze, the home was right on the beach, we spent close to and hour just looking at the beautiful shells and stones!

Beautiful

By Melissa S |

This beach was beautiful and so clean. Even though you have to pay for parking it is well worth it. If you don't have chairs or an umbrella don't worry they have them there to rent. There is also a concession to buy food.

Great place!! Followed Google Maps satellite to any beach

By PhotoScott |

Loved the beach!!! Only 4 people as far as we could see up and down the Beach!!! Off season (not summer) no permit needed to park. To drive 4 wheel drive on beach a permit is required all year. The beach is our happy place and this did not disappoint!! Loves the glittery smooth sea rocks washed ashore.

A wonderful place to relax!

By Maggie Z |

It was the Christmas day and even a little bit chilly, but walking on this beach is such a relaxing experience. Just inhaling the fresh air and watching the waving tapping the beach makes you so much refreshed and exhilarated! It's believed to be much beautiful when summer time. I will come here again!

Great beach - commodities fine

By Florent B |

It is a Great beach to spend few hours. Restroom, and little shopto take of some food are not thaat huge but fine enough.
The beach is clean

Beautiful beach and ocaen

By KHenthorn |

A long sandy beach and beautiful ocean await you. Good amenities and decent parking make this a popular place.

Beautiful Beach

By DennisBeatleboy |

This is a beautiful beach in the best place in the world. I have been to 22 nations and this area of Long Island is my favorite place to be.

Beautiful beach

By joaniemaria |

We stopped after 5 pm and did not have to pay for parking. However, the beach house was closed for the day. The beach is beautiful with golden sand and clear water. It goes on and on in both directions. It is a lovely, peaceful place. Very beautiful beach.

MAGNIFICENT

By arlenepastor |

Our favorite Beach on the Island! A clean beach with few occupants, we make a bon fire for dinner and the kids play all day!

Cooper's beach

By Rajidivakar |

It was one of the best beaches I have ever been to. Though the water was freezing, we enjoyed lazing around on the beach. It was clean and a good decent crowd and having the parking permit helped.

As good as it gets

By Dieujuste-seide |

It's not the Caribbean beach but it's the best you'll get in... it says the US. The water is the clearest I've seen in NY but it's soooooo cold. Once you get in there though, the water feels so good especially on a hot day. The waves will beat you up. I mean, those waves are very strong. My tips for you are: 1) Go early because it gets crowded quick. 2) When it comes to buying food there, you're limited so if you want anything other than burger, hot dog etc, bring your own food. Oh, and they don't sell alcohol. 3) Bring your own umbrella and chair unless you want to pay $10- $15 for each.

Great Place

By Samantha M |

I go there almost every single at during the summer. It can get pretty packed but there is always space for more people. The food that they sell at the beach is SO good. Theo have a variety of food for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The permit stickers are a little expensive to get but if you want to save money you could leave your car in the village and take a free ride over to the beach then when your done take it back to the village

Love this beach

By JustAnotherTraveler |

Beautiful beach - sand dunes, soft sand, plenty of room but oceans not too far from the parking lot, good waves for boarding, tidal pools at low tide, not too shabby houses to look at during the drive in. Life is good when you are at this beach!

Blah

By Stephen N |

Nothing special about this beach on Memorial Day weekend. Cooper's Beach in Southampton is a big wide beach - nothing special. It faces the Atlantic so the water is rougher. We got a spot in front of one of the "clubs" so no public facilities and food and drink were for members only. We spent a few hours at Meschutt Beach the next day - waaaaay better.

I love beach!

By AADSWJ |

It's a blessed county ! You can have everything here! I've seen few fancy old guys. My mom said they are rock stars from England. I am too young to know;p
Surfing and kayaking here is great because the water is cold and clean. My mom said I can spend every summer here! Yeepee!

Lovely place

By Тамара Г |

I absolutely loved going there early in the morning. The beach is very clean, even when crowded, especially during the season.

Nice beach

By CTfrequentflyer |

This is a nice beach with decent amenities - a good choice for a hot summer day. Not sure if the parking fills up, but it was not full when we were there.

Great Beach

By YodaNyc |

This beautiful beach provides visitors with fine sand and rolling waves. The snack bar serves up a vast assortment of fast food and snacks. For town residents a season pass is best. Those who are visiting for the day, be prepared for a $40 parking fee.

Beautiful afternoon

By RobTesCesOli |

Very nice beach!!! Clean and rent of umbrellas and chairs available.
Parkingfee is $40,00 ! but worth it
Want to go back soon

Great beach

By CMSCLS |

WOnderful beach (except the entry fee of $40). Concession stand for the kids (and adults!) Nice crowd; lifeguards are quite nice and they ACTUALLY pay attention!!

Great Beach, Friendly Cafe and Rentals

By metravel818 |

Broad nice beach with friendly restaurant, shaded tables and when in full operation rentals. Permit is expensive $40 per car but you can walk or ride a bike in to Cooper's. Ocean is nice cove area but a lot of rocks as you first go in.

Great Beach

By Tahoebabe |

Very nice beach with bathroom facilities and food. Life guard on duty. Nice white beach.
Family oriented. Highly recommend. Pass required.

All about timing!

By backpackluxury |

Best to read several of these reviews and customize them to your needs. We went on an August Saturday at noon. Way, way packed with no $40 parking open at noon. Same of course with free beach further down on Avenue D. Was able to park briefly to check out beach. OK, nice beach. But I've seen a LOT of really nice beaches around the world. If you've never been to a beach with sand and waves dont miss it! More interesting is the drive through the area and the $$$$ beach homes. As for the Hamptons, you'd have to head over to LA to find more people more interested in themselves.

Great Beach with Exciting Parking!

By Robert Y |

We loved Cooper's Beach. It is lovely. The best part was paying $50 for a day of parking! What! I must be crazy. We were visiting from San Francisco, so we are used to absurd prices, so we said what the heck. It was exciting and stupid to pay $50 for one day parking at a public beach. I love the East End. There are other options, and similarly beautiful beaches, with half the price of parking. Enjoy! $6 for a scoop of ice cream, and a cup of water is $1.50 Got to love it. Bless the hearts of the rich people of South Hamptons for letting us regular folk visit.

Great place for families

By Odin86 |

Midweek day in the sun was perfect. Very convenient snack bar, restrooms and chair/umbrella rentals. Small crowd with good surf.

Crowded beach

By 860SusanB860 |

We stopped by the beach late afternoon and it was very busy. Parking is $40 but there is a cafe and restrooms on site. The beach itself was rather dirty and trashy at the end of the day. There were many families and lots of children. The beach had nice sand and there was a huge sand bar and even a water/sand volleyball net set up. With a little clean-up, this place would be much nicer.

Lovely beach

By TheFrankens |

Beautiful beach, lovely views of a calm Atlantic. Well worth the drive. We just spent a little time taking pictures, but you could easily spend the whole day here

beach & ease

By jcurran324 |

This southampton village beach has expansive space as well as the amenities you require- valet, chairs, and food concession.

Relaxing day

By MAlvina H |

Get there before 11:30 if you want to rent chairs and umbrella, walk on or pay $40 for your car if you don't have a permit, concession stand and bathrooms convenient and clean, lotta kids.

Coopers Beach

By ElizabethMain |

The best beach ever, its cleaned every day, the concession stand, when open is great, the bathrooms are good, the life guard is a no brainer and the water these days is around 75 degrees, how can you beat that.

The cleanest and nicest beach in US

By Rose D |

Very close to the hotel, and hotel shuttled you back and forth whenever you wanted to go between the hours of 9-5

Clean beach, spacious, good food

By Kate K |

If you are not a resident and don't have parking the lot is $40 for the day. Worth it. People don't sit on top of each other if you mozy down the beach a bit. The sand is free of garbage and debris. The water is beautiful for NY. You can bring coolers with all the food and drinks you want but there is also a food hut with plenty of options- burgers, sandwiches, salads, tacos, breakfast, and snacks. Bathrooms and showers available too.

Not a huge selection of places to go eat nearby, even in town.

As beautiful as some Florida beaches!

By Susan T |

I was so delighted at the beauty of this sandy beach with all the amenities. I'm from Massachusetts where the beaches can be very rocky, and this was a real treat!

classic ocean beach

By traveleral1 |

the real thing. dunes, waves and a snack bar. unfortunately parking by permit or expensive daily passes. (worth it) it's the hampton$. food, chairs and umbrellas available. you won't be disappointed.
on foot or bike or drop-off it's free. parking is costly for non residents.

beautiful beach

By AlohaHawaii |

The beach is every bit as beautiful and the reviews state. Thankfully we were there after September 15th so we did not need a parking permit

Great beach but beware of crowds on Summer weekends.

By youwishyouknew |

Beautiful wide beach will rolling surf. Catch it on any day but a summer weekend and you should find room. Showers and decent food service (Hamptons prices). It pays to be a Village resident to avoid the rather steep parking fee. You can always bike from anywhere in town.

Beautiful except for parking on beach

By ELAINE068 |

We came across this on our last day. Our hotel did offer transport however we had a hire car so went on our own. It was very clean and plenty of space for everyone. There was surfing. No shops cafes - just beaches and peace.

Best beach in country

By SueBlue962 |

Beautiful beach, spectacular spot to relax in the sun, but if you are not a village resident price is steep.

#4 In the Country Best Beaches

By NYtravman |

Coopers beach $50 to park and worth every penny. This is clean; attended to; and wonderful retreat. The beach never gets packed there are no noise makers so you can relax. On site restrooms; Beach cafe and outdoor showers

Fun, Sun filled day

By Johnny A |

Nice clean beach, what more can be said. Theres a nice lil establishment for food and drinks at the start of the beach.

Bout 5mins by car from main st, 30mins by foot..or even ride a bike

GREAT BEACH BUT HORRIBLE PRICE TO PARK!

By HughHefner |

The Southampton area is very exclusive and if you are non-resident of the village, you will have to pay $40 U.S per day to park at the beach.
The beach itself has the necessary amenities and is very beautiful with awesome cresting waves and the nicest sand anywhere outside of the tropics.
People, although very rich in this area, are very nice and interesting to talk with. If you know art, you can make friends easily.
I visited on a weekday and there was plenty of space on the beach. That may not be the case on the weekend.

Beautiful beach!

By Gadi_Lalazar |

Had a wonderful afternoon at this beach. In the spring and summer the key is to arrive at 5:30 when visitors can park. Otherwise you need to park down the street and walk for 5-10 minutes which is a little annoying but not terrible. Dropping off part of the gang and then dropping of the car can work as well. The beach is beautiful and stretches to the horizon. There are basic amenities and not much else. So if you are self sustained this is a great place to go for a quite afternoon.

AFTER 5:00

By ncand3d |

Still plenty of sunshine and free parking ($50 savings) after 5pm. Nice laid mesh roll from lot to beach for wheelchair and foot friendly travel down to the beach. Super high waves. Family had a blast as we just added the beach on to a busy day at the end. No lifeguard and bathroom closes 6pm.

Beautiful View

By lovestoparty |

We grabbed our breakfast from Tate's Bakery and took it onto the beach. The beach was amazing and we could have sat there all day just looking at the ocean if it wasn't such a cold day

the Hamptons Beach as I imagined

By Dianne C |

Its fall so Coopers Beach is deserted but the sky is blue, sand is white and the tumbleweed grass in the dunes with a few wooden slat fences allows me to take some iconic shots . Loved driving by the Mansions with those majestic hedges allowing only a peek at those stunning homes.

Good beach,

By LeicestershireGreens |

Relaxing day at the beach, sitting in the sun, reading and a bit of swimming. Yes, you had to pay $40 to park car but worth it.

Beautiful beach, worth the parking fee.

By doudini2 |

We went to Hampton Bays over the Labor day weekend, and let me tell you, it was flawless. There was no traffic driving in(around 6pm on Friday) and leaving(around12pm on Labor Monday). About the beach: This beach does not charge for entrance, however the charge for a car is 40$. So it is good if you go with a full car of friends to contribute to the fee.
The beach has an awesome snack bar, clean bathrooms, and showers(outside, cold water).
The sand is beige, clean, no garbage or rocks, maybe some shells. The waves can be rough, but still doable if you know how to wave jump:-) I enjoyed it, and we were there all day. I have never been able to spend all day in the beach, it gets boring. Also the weather was not too hot, the water is a bit cold. I recommend some swimming back and forth. There is only one lifeguard though, and considering this beach is very long, I am not sure he would be able to save you if you are on the far end. Beautiful seagulls entertained us all day.
Minus: People in Hamptons are so rude(maybe the sense of entitlement?), drivers are horrible, and with their silly SUV's they are never courteous, so if you hesitate with a question, they will take over right away. Also, we had an older couple next to us on the beach call us stupid idiots. There were four of us-two couples 32 years of age, and we may have been a bit loud, and decided to bury each other in the sand, for the hot sand spa experience, then tok a bunch of pictures...we were just having silly fun, but these old people wanted to read in quiet(on a public beach), sheesh....

Unique

By Susan B |

The locals say it is the best beach in the US . Fair enough but as Aussies the beach was lacking. I liked that you could hire beach umbrellas and chairs. The boys who ran this need a few customer service tips but they were willing to set up for you at your chosen spot, of course tipping was expected. Food was available also, Healthy options too. Coopers beach waves crash close to shoreline, not great for the little ones , also there is this mist that hangs around from July through to August so visibility is reduced. Strange sitting on a beach in a fog but we needed a rest day so it all worked well. Be mindful though that just because you cannot see the sun it is there and does burn so sunscreen still needed!

Beautiful and relaxing

By LuxeGirlNYC |

Even in January, it's beautiful and relaxing. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon but still a little chilly. Even though it was January, the beach was full of people. It's just such a peaceful place to be in the middle of winter. It's the gem of Southampton.

South Hampton Beach Day

By fredraymond522 |

One of our favorite beaches anywhere. They have a nice cafe with restrooms and beach chair service. One of the cleanest beaches you will find. One note, bring cash for parking. It's $40.00 to park but well worth it, and no ATM. A South Hampton must see!

Great in the off-season

By TCinTheBigCity |

An expansive, pristine beach bordered by multi-million dollar homes. No $300 parking tickets from Southampton police in off-season!

It is a great beach....

By differentname |

The problem here is that if you are not a local, technically you should not be here. We came late in the season, found a parking spot and spent an hour on the beach. Don't tell anybody, but if you park in front of St Andrew's Dune Church (if a spot is available) nobody will bother you for a while.

One of the Prettiest Beaches on Long Island

By MissS85 |

Every time we stay in the Hamptons we visit Cooper Beach. It's clean, family oriented and beautiful! They charge a lot to visit for the day but it is well worth it!
When you're in the Hamptons definitely go to Cooper Beach for the day. You'll be very happy you did!

Best in Hamptons

By Carol G |

Spacious beach and a wonderful cafe serving good basic food. Great outdoor tables to eat your take-out. Beautiful scenery; so peaceful!!!

Memorable Beach

By Mv P |

I live in LI and this is one of the best beaches. You can pick your own spot and just relax. When we have friends visiting we often chose to go to Cooper's Beach.

Favorite Beach!!

By dumpling lover |

It will cost you money to be there during the day but after 5 (the best time) you can go for free! it is so fun to be there the water is amazing a great place to surf! there is a restaurant and the sunsets are incredible!

Magnificent beach with great concession

By lindaofny |

This is one of the only beaches in Southampton accessible by the day. The beach is spotless, wonderful sand. I went too early in the season to go in the water, but it looked inviting. The concession serves salads, including lobster salad, iced tea, and other appetizing snacks. We just walked on the beach but I believe they rent umbrellas, etc.

One of most beautiful beaches in US

By Sherrie400 |

I have been going to Cooper's Beach for over 25 years and it is why the Hamptons is known for its beautiful beaches. The beach is very deep and is beautiful white sand.
There is a place for hot and cold snacks and you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas.
There are always several life guards during the day which is welcome since the surf can can get quite rough some days and there is always the chance of riptides. The one drawback is that the daily parking fee for non-residents is high, I believe in the area of $25-$30. This means that the beach is rarely too crowded so you escape the feeling of Jones Beach on a hot summer day. The Southampton Inn hotel runs a frequent free shuttle to the beach and you should inquire if other hotels will do the same. I have been to beautiful beaches all over the world and this is one of the best for an ocean beach.

Beautiful and Clean

By Natalie T |

It has an amazing atmosphere and it has an indoor snack bar walking distance from the beach to buy food and drinks! Great for families! You do need to pay to enter if you aren't a local with a permit pass but it's definitely worth it. After 5 it's free...the picture I took is after 5 when the beach is quieter but still just as beautiful.

Seriously beautiful

By 5headedmonster |

I'm not 100 percent sure but I think this is the only public beach (Ie you can park for the day as a non resident) in Southampton. It's a gem. For families there is a lifeguard (watch the rip tide), shower, good eats (and cover) and a toilet. Didn't bring chairs or umbrella ? You can rent. The price to park for the day is $40. It's pricey but worth it. Great dunes and nice piece of beach. It's a nice cycle from town too. Plenty of parking for busy days. For those that can walk a bit, swing left or right for more space. This beach has won prizes. Anyone who's been will not be shocked.

Beautiful!

By Danny F |

Loved the sand, sun and company! it is rated the #1 beach in the US for a reason!
I will be back as soon as i can.

Great beach with avaliabe parking

By Zimtie90 |

This beach is beautiful and definitely a must see in south hamptons! It offers restrooms, showers outside and a little shop. The sand is nice to walk in. You can get umbrellas and there is a lifeguard around. It closes around 5:30 pm
The parking costs $40
Definitely come back here!

Beautiful

By michelle0404 |

Great sand easy parking a great way to spend a day. Take a look at the co cottages along the seafront.

Great beach with plenty of parking.

By suzyd43 |

Love this beach. Spacious with good parking and plenty of room for everyone. Nice place to catch the sunset. Lifeguards on duty. Food available.

Beautiful, quiet beach

By WorkToTravel123 |

In mid-June, this beach was quiet, but in a nice way. Not deserted, but not too many people or loud, either. Mostly couples who kept to themselves. The beach is spotless, and beautiful. There is public parking and resident only permits.

Excellent

By mrandmrskb |

The beach is huge and really nice. It would be a great place to go and hang out all day. The water looked a little rough. The beach dips down a decent amount which was kind of scary. The tide was going out. I think I was there around 5pm so parking was free. Given how big that beach is probably not a ton of parking for it. You can walk a long ways each way and see nice houses as well. The building was closed so nothing open that late.

Secret gem

By S J |

Clean water. Well maintained beach. Short walk from the parking lot. Volleyball net setup. Clean bathrooms.

wide, clean, comparable to any beach in the world. Totally idyllic with very few people even at high season.

lovely beach

By Judith W |

Spent a great afternoon with family from Newyork.
Didnt realise how close it was, only 3 hours from Manhattan
Parking $50 US , was the only drawback considering we dont pay for parking at our beaches in Australia

Wonderful

By Verea74 |

This beach is the main Southamoton beach go to but it is unfortunately, for residents and guests only .
However, it is a clean, gorgeous beach and really it never gets crowded but you still have to pay$40 to get in.
I think Easthamoton is $25 and is also as gorgeous. If you are staying with guests though, use the pool :)

Gorgeous CROWDED Beach

By Cassidy S |

This is such a beautiful beach, but it is absolutely flooded with people during the summer months. They have a really great shack that makes awesome fish tacos. I would recommended coming back later in the day for a spectacular sunset. Bring a blanket, some friends, and some wine!

watch out for the surf!

By Joanna |

Great beach, love the showers and concession. I am a super strong swimmer who grew up in surf in NZ but even I was taken aback at how ferocious some of the surf waves were. not for weak swimmers.

Nice beach...but there are plenty more in the Hamptons...overrated!

By manderson171 |

I have been to the Hamptons 2x and this year went to Coopers beach...want to see if it was what people say. Yes, indeed it's a nice beach, but again all the beaches in the Hamptons are pretty nice.
It's in my opinion overrated !! The parking charge is just ridiculos $40 per day (any day), sorry I fail to see how it is "worth it" as people mentioned in reviews. I went on a saturday and the beach was crowed, and as we know not all New Yorkers are friendly or politely....had a woman nearly sitting on my lap...although the beach is huge....that aside, I really think that there are so many beaches around where parking is about $20 or $25....The beaches in West Hampton are great...
My favorite beach is Main Beach in East Hampton, but weekends they have only 40 day passes, get there at 9am to have a chance as I went at 1030 and they were all gone, you can get the pass and come back later (here is the tip), however 2 mile Hollow beach is pretty good too (facilities not are great but still toilets and life guards). During the week you can go to Sagg Main, Wacox....and even better go to Montauk....no parking charges there, yes you can park pretty much everywhere... and beach is beautiful.
I personally would not go back to Coopers when I can go to a beach that is the same and charge nearly half or half to park....sorry it's overrated!

Amazing

By shy a |

I fell in love with Cooper beach. The beach has white sand and it was not much crowded. Lifeguards were nice and its appropriate for kids. Parking was tad bit expensive but its worth it.

Bang for Bucks!!

By mehshee |

Agreed the parking for non-resident is 40$, but its totally worth it. The beach is clean and beautiful, and there is no entry fee per person :)
I can wait to go back!

great beach day

By Windy A |

it beautiful beach in Long Island, Relax, clean, Not rough wave. they have a cafetaria with good food but avoid go to cafetaria in the lunch time or u will be there on line forever, u better bring ur own cooler. And just stay little bit farther if u love to be quite time at the beach. o ya u have too pay $40 for 1 car park ,which is too much tho. overall i love the beach.

It doesn't get much better than this....

By Jennifer S |

ok.. so the $40 price tag for non-residents is a little steep, but check with your hotel as there is a good chance they will have a few permits for you to 'borrow'.... if you can't foot the price tag you can always go down one of the side roads for parking and walk down the beach. That said.. this is one of the most beautiful beaches in one of the most beautiful places ever! Having not been there in years I can honestly say it is as amazing as it ever was... very much beloved and very much missed during my time away.

Beautiful beach

By Mike F |

One of the highlights of the summer for us is our time spent at Cooper Beach. It's clean, beautiful sand, great waves. Parking is a bit expensive at 40 dollar a day (unless you have a summer pass).

I like the restaurant on the beach as well. they have an interesting selection of food. Everything ranging from the usual fast food fair to healthful salads and grains. Delicious tamales!

Its a great place for families. its a nice, easy going environment. Friendly people, quiet and laid back.

Heaven!

By C L |

We visited the beach on a Sunday afternoon in September when the crowds were gone and took a long walk. The setting was perfect, the dunes and the ocean and the sea mist blended beautifully together. Did not want to leave!

Calming

By JHAllen |

With the summer crowds gone, this is a magnificent place to sit and enjoy the sight and sound of the ocean. My wife and I did so given we were told whales were feeding regularly close to the shore. Unfortunately they did not appear while we were there.

Great beach even in the dead of winter!

By Peter R |

We hear so many good things about Cooper’s Beach. Of course going in January there is no issue with parking, it’s free. We stayed for a short time because it was very cold, but it is a very beautiful beach.

Holiday spot

By G-DoggyRulz |

Had three nights here and would highly recommend it as a quiet enough spot but still with lots of activities to do near by if need be.

Charming Beach Retreat

By Ron R |

Beautiful Sandy beach that is well maintained. Concession is well run with tasty lunch options from shrimp salad to burgers. Chairs, umbrellas, and tidy restroom.
Quant and convenient and just 5 minutes from town.

Best Beach if You can afford it

By Nikolas888 |

I think Cooper Beach is the best beach on Long Island. It is nice, big, clean, the sand is perfect. The facilities could be better considering town charges $50 per car for the parking,$20 for umbrella and some money for the chairs. After 5PM parking is free if you still care but I guess my mention of $50 is ridiculous when beach surrounded by estates which cost in the range of $30-40 million, when Ferrari and other luxury cars are quite common on the beach parking lot

Beautiful white sand beach

By mariedesjardins |

Visited on a sunny day in May 2018 as part of a tour of the Hamptons from NYC. Although our stop was only 20 minutes, it was definitely enjoyable. Picked up whole sea shells of various sizes, shapes, and colours. Only place I've ever seen such intact littered along this long stretch of beach. Nice breeze too.

Short washed out beach head with erosion

By Larry B |

Not a top notch beach due to excessive erosion and sand cliffs and straight five plus foot drop offs. Not Recommended

Beautiful white sandy beach and blue green clean water

By JackieC655 |

The beach is gorgeous...wide...and un crowded. We were there the first week of September. We also rode our bikes there. I understand the cost to park a car there is pricey-$40. Ocean was clear, clean and a beautiful blue- green.

Wonderful beach. Bit crowdy on the weekends but worth it. Amazing views and miles of walking opportunity

GORGEOUS! and not far.

Great beach, highly ranked. Lots of sand and good waves. Plenty of parking, and terrific weather helps!

Best in the Hamptons

Parking close to beach. Food and drink available. Bathrooms. Clean white sand. Usually not too crowded, unless its a holiday period. Good waves for playing in.

Great beach!

What an awesome beach! I was there for relaxation and it very well served my purpose! Highly recommend if you want to just chillax!

A little piece of Heaven

It's a gorgeous Beach- full stop. There are bathrooms, showers and a concession stand. Parking is $45 for day but it's worth it.

Beautiful beach

By Jordan L |

This is one of my favorite beaches in the country. The sand is great and they keep it clean. They also rent chairs and umbrellas on the weekend.

Pretty beach to visit

By Christie E |

Pretty beach to visit. Nice waves. Clean. A very short drive from the town of Southampton. Food and restrooms are there.

Pleasant but the is a bit rough

By dianamna |

We spent a day in cooper beach last week. Very easy access you pay 40$, you park then you rent chairs and umbrellas: 60$ cash for 2 umbrellas and 3 chairs. You can change there and buy food (good but expensive) from the store. They even sell beach towels for 20$ ea. It's is very pleasant although crowded but the water is rough and in one day I witnessed 3 interventions from the lifeguards going to rescue distressed people. The water is crisp not warm, so that does not help the average swimmer much either. Exercise caution.

glorious beach

By Mombongo |

This beach in our opinion is one of the nicest beaches we have ever been to!GO early before the crowds . Its worth the $40.00 to park, bathrooms are clean and there is a nice snack bar.Watch for celebrities its the place to be in the summer! We even go there just for the day its so close to home.

One of the best beaches in the world

By Eric Van Lustbader |

The East End of Long Island is known for its nonpareil beaches, and Cooper's Beach is in the top three. Clean, wide, and handsome this is the place to spend a lazy day. Hint: between July 3 - Labor Day it's best to go early or around five in the evening to avoid the inevitable crowds.

This beach isn't what it used to be ........

By YodaNyc |

I live in Southampton and I can tell you from years of experience that the Cooper's Beach that I and my family have come to love, JUST AIN'T THE SAME ANY MORE.

They used to have a rubberized walkway that led from the parking lot area to the beach.
This was great for the handy capped and older people who have trouble walking long distances on sand. Well, it's gone. So are the clean bathrooms that we've always taken for granted.

The main killer and what will doom this beach for us is the transition in owner/operator of the "snack bar." This used to be an upscale place that we would go to, even when not going to the beach. Thick meatie burgers burgers have been replaced with hockey pucks that make a McDee burger look great. Gone are the lobster rolls, replaced with fish tacos that have one scrawny piece of fish and a little mayo wrapped in a clod taco skin. The once fabulous French fries which were dipped in a coating that made them THE BEST have been replaced by soggy FFs that make the steamed ones that I got in grade school seem like a delicacy.

By the way, a tray with about 2 ounces of these FFs will run you $4.00.
The excuse for a hamburger is now $7.50
A sandwich with a sliver of chicken, a slice of bacon, one thin slice of tomato a leaf of lettuce is now $10.50.

The town put the concession up for bid and the one who offered the most money for the rights won. Shame that we, the users have lost.

Hey guys, I'll be shopping at Citerala in town and bringing real food with me.

Beautiful Beach but exclusive

By JKPImageFusion |

It's a beautiful beach but they are obviously trying to keep the average folks out. For better or worse the parking cost is outrageous for a "public" beach.

fun in the sun

By batshitcrazynot |

40 dollars to park you car with Porsches, Rovers, etc...
watch the hired dates with their manmade figures prance by with their "soul less" Manhattan guy
BUT, my kids had a great time playing in the waves and collecting shell on a perfect June day

Our Favorite Long Island Beach

By mjl482017 |

Parking is a bit pricey but certainly worth it. Beach is super clean. They have a great lunch / snack bar. Extensive menu (salads, fresh seafood, burgers). Reasonably priced food. Deck with umbrellas.

Beautiful beach!

By Alice Q |

Such a pretty beach. There is live music on Sundays at 5pm in the summer. Nice snack bar. Clean bathrooms. Parking is expensive - $50 per day. Our hotel had a free shuttle to the beach.

Clean, clean, clean, and clean
Such a lively beach fir those who need chilling under the sun looking at ocean without hassle of little kids screaming all around.
It was classy, clean and beautiful.

Eerie in Fog

By Judith F |

The day was foggy and the beach was deserted. There was plenty of parking and we sat in the car watching the fog. The drive to the beach showed off the homes near the water and was a different view given the fog and the overcast but that is part of the Southampton charm

GREAT BEACH

By kreez |

We were lucky enough to have wonderful warm weaather to enjoy walking along this shore. The water was cool, warm enou for a very quick dip and it was very clear.

A day at the Beach-simply

By Diane Nunan |

Coopers Beach has everything, sea, sand, showers, a cafe, lifeguards. The waves are such fun and families can enjoy with the reassuring prescience of a life guard. I really enjoyed my time here. Bathrooms could be better but there are a lot of people here.

Southampton's best Beach

This is Southampton best beach, Cooper's Beach. The Beach is just breathtaking. One of the nicest in the Hamptons. Grab a cab and save on the parking fee.

Beautiful beach

By TravelingCookies |

A little expensive to get parking permit but totally worth it. Long stretch of white sands, blue ocean, just the right amount of waves and the temperature of the water is perfection.

Beach day

By That G |

Great beach clean beach however parking expensive . Restrooms were clean ( fir a beach ) chair and umbrella for rent .

Great beach

By Annalisa B |

So just an FYI- its open to the public, but you have to pay a $50 parking permit fee at the entrance. So many reviews on here are NOT clear on that. Clean, but very rough. Be safe!

Private

By fishing-family8 |

Watch out parking at Coopers Beach. It is by permit only and only village residents of South Hampton are entitled to permits. If you go out in October you can enjoy Coopers Beach. Bring your surf rod also...the water is nice and warm and the schools of fish can be seen moving up and down the beach.

Great beach

By carotti |

Coopers Beach was definitifely the best beach where I ever was. We was there several days during the week. It was not crowded. I was very surprised, that the rent for a sun umbrella was only US$ 15. The beach and the water is very clean. Be careful with kids - the waves are sometimes heavy - but we had loads of fun.

Too crowded with daily and or weekend trip people

By Kathleen G |

It is like being at Jones Beach. Been going there since I was 4 months old. Very over it. Try the bay side of life don't need a sticker or to pay on the West End at least and it isn't overcrowded with obnoxious people.

My favorite beach in the Hamptons

By windandseagirl |

This is one of my all time favorite beaches because of the clean water, soft fluffy sand, short walk to water, beautiful beach and services offered like chairs and umbrellas.

Coopers Beach Now a Dog Park and Pet Toilet

By mark e |

Things have changed dramatically at Coopers Beach since the new mayor took over. Its now open to free running dogs, who soil the sand and harass visitors. Just walk beyond the cameras, and you will see dogs running without a leash everywhere, defecating where people stroll. Plus, $50 to park. Totally gross place now.

Great Sand!

By jtex4 |

This beach is very different than most of the Hamptons' beaches. Very wide and nice white sand. Also - little tip - if you are an early riser, you can park at the beach, before 9:30, for free. Also know that the waves do crash strong here and there is a riptide warning. It has a nice concessions building as well.

Beautiful beach

By Freda N |

Probably the nicest beach I have ever been to. Have extra fond memories of this beach from kite flying days to raise money for lung cancer. Very clean and just perfect. Serene.....

A long walk on a cold day

By Belinda |

It was chilly but beautiful, not very crowed because it was cool. Parking was outrageous, but worth it to see the ocean again !

Great beach and views of spectacular Southampton properties.

By Frank A |

A large and beautiful beach. It was mid week very early in the season so the beach was very quiet with only a small number of people. We decided to go for a swim in the very cold but very refreshing water. It was incredible!

Great for family time!

By KaraYoga |

Kids love the beach. We love the beach. Coopers is cool...usually pretty full in summertime. But, it's neat viewing all the fancy looking beach houses while chilling on the beach. The beach itself is great for relaxing, kicking a soccer ball, etc... The main house is equipped with bathrooms and food in summer. Overall, nice hot spot.

By BerkhamstedJules |

Easy access to the white soft sands that stretch out in either direction for miles and miles. It's free to park there after 15 Sep and there's no limit to how long you can stay

Always beauritul

By hamptonite |

Although we are town residents and don't have a village permit to enjoin Cooper's we go off-season just to enjoy sitting by the bath house and enjoying the view.

Crowded, but good for out of towners

By em_23_41 |

It's The only beach in the village that has bathroom and then amenities plus a food cafe and parking for the people who do not have the village permits for the other small beaches around the area. The downside is though it's extremely crowded with lots of little kids running around the food is overpriced and the bathrooms are tiny and only have a few styles which means long lines all the time. But for anybody who is not a village resident and cannot obtain a parking permit through the village it's the only place you can parkbut it comes with a fee andif you don't get there by early-morning parking is usually full.

Amazing!

By Phil C |

'Cooper's' beach is a lovely place to spend the day with the Family! It is a beautiful sandy beach with great showers, toilets and a lovely café. The café was a great place to get lunch as it has options of hot and cold food and drinks, along with an aisle of snacks. For a $40 dollar parking fee, it's definitely worth it!

They offer chairs and umbrellas

By lor13149 |

The beach is nice and wide, but crowded. They offer chair and umbrellas for purchase. There is a small cafe where you can get some food and drinks. The parking pass for the day is $40.

Beautiful Beach, Easy & Safe Parking

By TeamROC |

Have you ever been to the beach, only to find that you forgot SOMETHING! You won't have to worry about that at Cooper's Beach! There is a well provisioned on site store along with a full menu of food items from which to choose. From towels to umbrellas to local items to purchase, they have it all. The beach itself is very deep, and not very crowded. "Getting away from it all" consists of walking about 200 feet in any direction, and you'll pretty much have your own beachfront real estate. Definitely recommended if you want to spend some time at the beach!

Nice place to relax

By Philip G |

Quiet and clean. Good surf conditions! Wasn't crowded even on the weekend, but was bliss during the week.

Beautiful clean beach

By Carolreck |

Spent the day here and it was very nice. The pavilion has clean bathrooms and outside showers to rinse off after a day of sun and sand and a place to purchase food. The only down side to the beach was the drop off going down to the water. I noticed a few people struggling to get down to the water then to get back up to their beach spot.

Snack bar was a plus
Gorgeous drive to the beach seeing all the mansions

Copper's beach is spacious, clean, with almost white sand. The water is very clean with nice waves (not too big or too small). The only con is that the parking is $40. Otherwise I highly recommend this beach.

Great beach. Lifeguards. Snacks. It is easy to see why this beach get nominated as one of the best beaches in the US. Can be crowded. Movies in parking lot on Monday nights.

NY Bliss

By Yardielady |

I am a beach snob. This beach, although not perfect, is the best beach that I have been to in NY (admittedly, I have only gone to one other, and have only looked snobbishly upon the others) Although in the Hamptons, beach goers were very diverse, and people were chill.

Pros:
The sand is powdery soft, no rocks (or worse, geese poop)
The water is clean, no seaweed or gunk.
Snack shop food was decent

Cons:
The waves are very choppy
The water is a bit cold, but doable on a very hot day.
Water is rocky, at least when going in, water shoes would be helpful.
Parking is $50, but there is a shuttle that allows for free parking in town, with shuttling to the beach. Looks like the shuttle ran pretty regularly.

Top rated Beach

By LongIslandGirl |

Nice wide beach, went the day before the official opening of the season. Nice bathrooms, and a concession, but they were closed.the sand is white and soft. Really clean and pretty. A lot of people came by bicycle

The secret is out

By techtrotter |

Used to be a nice quiet beach mostly with locals and day tripping families. Now, seems the day trippers are coming with car loads of people who otherwise don't spend time in Southampton...in town, dining, shopping etc. Overcrowded, with a higher tattoo factor who can't seem to put garbage in the garbage cans, smoking on the beach, and tossing footballs, this has become a close cousin to Coney Island or Jones Beach. Snack bar is mediocre, and with the inner city crowd, I'd think twice about picking this beach to spend a nice relaxing day at the beach. Many other options out east for a more peaceful experience.

A permit is needed for the car park

By Paul M |

The beach is lovely .... if you can get on to it, that is. That's easy if you're a resident of the Hamptons, but if you're not and you've driven a long way to get there (as we did today ... two hours, in fact), you have to purchase a $40 car park permit or you'll end up paying a $250 fine. Of course, you could leave your car in the town and walk to the beach, but it's a long way to walk and you can only park in the town for two hours at a time. In my opinion, it's wrong that Southampton charges people to park so that they can spend some time on the beach. The fact that they charge so much is a disgrace. We weren't prepared to pay such an extortionate parking fee, so we drove all that way and didn't even see the water.

A day at the beach

By Janet D |

Cooper's Beach is a favorite local beach for residents and visitors alike. Residents can obtain a season beach sticker. For day trippers or summer season visitors, a daily sticker is available or non-resident season sticker is availabe. Not cheap though! Beach has life guards, bath house and concession. All well maintained. A bike ride from anywhere in the village.

Yassssss - GO!

By lhamilt77 |

While slightly tipsy, I asked a store owner "Ok, tell me where to find the super rich people around here." He said two words, "Cooper's Beach." Admittedly, when one thinks of the Hamptons, you do think of wealth right? I wanted to feel like the rich and fabulous on my vacay. So away we went. Let's first talk about the drive to the beach - crazy massive homes, mansions really with impeccably groomed grounds. After some weaving through the residential area, we found the beach. Yes, parking is expensive. $40/car. So do yourself a favor, either get there early so you get your "40 dollar's worth" or arrive after 5p and park for free! We chose to arrive early. The thing I love about this beach is that the waves are MUCH calmer than further northeast (think Montauk). It's still frigid cold, but at least not having to fight crashing waves made it a bit more tolerable. There's loads of space for people to spread out and pitch their beach umbrellas and blankets. The beach house is nice too. It has showers, and a restaurant with your typical beach snack, but also the fancy goods like lobster rolls and quinoa salads! We spent the entire day - eating/napping/sunbathing/gossiping/listening to music and it was my most memorable experience in the Hamptons. GO!

Best beach in the world

By emjeyzee |

I grew up at this beach in the '70's and '80's. I haven't actually gone in the summer in quite a while, but it looks like the same old place (for better or worse). It's probably better for the locals (who have a parking sticker) than for those who have to pay a daily fee. The beach is clean and offers a snack bar and showers. After hours, it a great place to park your car in the "circle" and just sit and enjoy the views of the sand and churning ocean.

I have been to Cooper's in the busiest summer months and the dead of winter. It's always a great place to walk, especially my dogs in the winter! You can walk or drive down the beach with a permit to find some of the best surf areas.

Great Beach!

By Pink World |

This is a very clean beach and is very relaxing. The water feels really good to swim through and would say is pretty quiet. Great for family or even a group of friends.

By YoyoBumchuck |

all of the beaches on eastern Long Island are awesome, Cooper, is well known only because some guy named "Dr Beach" rates beaches, and recently named it as one of the top ones. However, whether you go here and pay $40 for a day pass (yep!) Or to one East or west it's all the same ocean!
Enjoy it!

By travelbug1031 |

We always come here even though it's $40 bucks to park the car. I guess it's not terrible considering Long Beach charges $12 per person and we frequent there as well.
Great confession/picnic table/bathroom/shower area
Beach is always clean as can be
BUT I read about a little secret.... Get there before they set up the booth and park for free! ;)

Summer fun

By jflo812 |

This beach is absolutely gorgeous. Not 1 piece of litter anywhere, no cigarette butts, cans, bottles...nothing. The water is clean too. Lifeguards are vigilant while watching the water for anyone in distress. The lifeguards were conducting exercises in life saving techniques. We rented umbrellas & lounge chairs & were quite content. Coopers beach has been voted one of the best beaches in the US & deservingly so. Go to Coopers if you have the chance. The cafe there was great too. We ate breakfast & lunch there.

Wonderful Spot

By Tara H |

We loved this place. We were able to head a bit down the beach and have a spot to ourselves. There is a 40 parking fee but it is worth it. There are bathrooms available at this beach as well which is nice. The houses surrounding the area are just stunning and it's fun to drive around as you leave and see how the other half lives!

Beautiful!!!

By Mrs_Montanez |

This beach is beautiful!! It's about a 2 hour drive from the city. $40 parking, but so worth it! We strolled up away from the crowd and it felt like we were on vacation in the Caribbean. Clear water, clean sand and a beautiful view. A must go to!

Perfect beach day

By G3nLondon |

Nothing but the highest marks for this beach as it ticked all the boxes. Clean, white sand - check. Bathroom facilities and food/drink options - check. The ability to rent beach chairs and umbrellas - check and check. Clean water, sandy bottom, no seaweed and a great beach break allowing for great bodysurfing - checks all around. Plus, there's plenty of beach to go around so you didn't feel hemmed in. Yes, you'll pay a hefty fee to park (~$50/car (get there early)) but it's worth it and money well spent.

Beautiful Beach

By Jeffrey S |

This was our first time at this beach and wife and I throughly enjoyed it. This beach is kept extremely clean, is family friendly, yet good for singles and couples to relax and enjoy, and they have a good snack bar and clean restrooms. Oh and they have a nice rubber path to walk on as u make your way down for the parking lot to find your spot. There is a hefty forty dollar per car parking charge (up until 5PM) , so if you can have some one drop u off ,the proprietor of A Butler's Manor, the B&B we were staying at dropped us off, and picked us up, or don't mind parking a short distance away you will be spared that expense. All in all a great beach!

Atlantic Ocean Beauty!

By Christina M |

Although it was a cold windy winter's day when we visited Cooper's Beach, it was still nature at her best. Sandy pristine beach, crisp salty air, white-capped waves crashing on to the shore, gulls swooping overhead- what could be better? For those less inclined, stay in your warm car and enjoy the ocean view!

The BEACH is the greatest - BUT, the food consession is terrible

By Esta B |

I've traveled much of the world and have found Coopers Beach to be one of my favorites.
The vast expanse puts many beaches to shame. The sand is clean and fine. Though there is a life guard on duty, thee used to be two or three life guard stations. Now there is only one. Budget cuts I guess.

One must keep in mind that Coopers is a village owned beach. Though entry to the beach is FREE, to support itself, there is a $40.00 per day, per car load parking free . Village residents can get a season pass. Town of Southampton full time residents as well as seasonal renters can buy a seasonal pass and seniors get a reduced rate seasonal pass. For those who want to avoid the parking fee, there are free jitneys that depart from the village and of course, free bicycle parking.

The only negative factor I've found with the beach is the new operator of the snack bar, the Coopers Beach Cafe. They are new this year, having been awarded a monopoly contract. They have taken full use of having such control. The portions are smaller and full meal options are gone. The previous operator offered lunch deals such as a burger, fries and drink for a set price. Now things are all A-la-cart. By the way, the burger has shrunk from last year and now makes a Burger King look immense. In my opinion, you'd be better off bringing your own food and beverages.

Voted best beach.

By Ammangel2 |

Gorgeous sea and sand with plenty of parking. Just need to pay if not a resident. A must see for all seasons. July 4th fireworks are fab!

Beautiful long and wide white sand beach

By Jasmine38Chichester UK |

This is a gorgeous beach but the parking charge is a joke. $50! The village obviously wants to deter visitors. Fortunately for us the charges only apply from 15 may to 15 sept so we were there on a nice day out of season as we wouldn't have paid $50. The downside is that the cafe was closed and there were no other facilities available such as rentals - although perhaps they not available anytime as this is a very natural beach.

If you are considering this beach or main beach by the way they are almost identical and have the same parking charges.

Spacious, great sand and sea.

By Viv S |

Get dropped off at the parking lot and then walk along the beach to your right (as u look at the water) it slowly moves away from the bustle at the car park

We are lucky to live near this beach. Just sat there today and saw two deer run along the beach into the dunes. A nature lover's delight!

SOUTHAMPTON'S AMAZING BEACH, A MUST SEE

By BATMAN & CATWOMAN |

If you are hanging in the the Hamptons, especially Southampton head over to Cooper's Beach. The Beach is just breathtaking. Grab a cab and save on the $40 parking fee.

Beautiful sandy beach with amenities

This is a great beach with restrooms, showers and cafe. It is expensive to park at $40 a day so save your money and walk or cycle and then it is free!

Breezy!

Great beach and clean! Highly recommend a visit during the week when it is less crowded. Family friendly and quiet.

Fabulous beach

We rented a car from Manhattan a Monday morning and spent 2h and 10min to get there. It was very easy to find. It cost 40USD (cash) to park and it seemed difficult to find free sparking spots close to the beach. However, we did not try very hard. There were plenty of parking spaces available even though we got there quite late, 1PM. The beach is very well organized and seems endless. There are life guards there, fresh water showers, toilets and a small restaurant. A lot of people were surfing or using bodyboards. You can rent sunchairs for USD10 (cash) and umbrellas USD5, but they collected it as early as 4:15PM.
We have not been at The Hamptons before, but this beach was perfect for us...and we do have experience with other great beaches in Australia in Asia.

Nice beach, immaculately clean, clear waters, nice food venue, pricey parking.

Many have reviewed this and have raved. I was expecting to have my socks knocked off but I think the beach is hyped. The beach is certainly nice, clean, and well maintained but $40 parking? While nice I saw nothing that drives the price of the parking other than they can in the Hamptons. The sand is fine, the food venue nice, and it's clean. However, for $10 I thought Hither Hills down the road is just as nice.
