A Summer morning at Quissett Harbor is spectacular. The visit wouldn't be complete without a walk out to the point known as the Nob. Peaceful, beautiful with gorgeous ocean views.

This is a small nature preserve with several walking trails, mostly leading to the Knob which is a tiny promontory out into Buzzards Bay with great views of the Elizabeth Islands and most of the bay. It abuts quaint Quissett Harbor. The only way to get to the Knob is on foot, and it's about a 1.2 mile round trip on easy trails. There's also a pleasant crescent shaped hike-in beach near The Knob.

This is a non-handicap accessible path that is has a stunning sunset view and a couple of other calendar worthy photo stops along the path. From the know you can actually swing around and look east as well to catch a morning view. We were lucky enough to see a full moon rising in the east while the sun was setting in the west.
It closes at dusk and will get dark. So, if you walk slow or plan to stay awhile, you better back a flashlight.

Nice hiking trails - but watch for the bugs! Great ocean views and a nice little beach. No lifeguard, and very tight parking in the summer season.

Great hiking trails with a wonderful ending view at the Knob, located in Woods Hole, MA, continues to be a major attraction to the public for its nature walk, birding, marsh, coastal bank and its spectacular views of Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay.

I have been visiting the Cape, well, since, 1950, and I admit I did not know about the Knob in Falmouth. A friend led us there, and all of us experienced a marvelous sunset over Buzzard's Bay. Seek out this wonderful spot.

Went on a perfect, sunny, summer day. Beautiful views of the water and the shoreline. We chose to take the path along the water which is rocky, so stay on the dirt path of you are wearing flip flops. The walk is worth it. Great little place to stop and enjoy nature.

I originally was going to walk there for sunset, but someone I talked to in town mentioned it was a hike and dark, so probably not. Glad I didn't as you have to hike through woods to get to this. So be sure to walk back before dark or you will get lost! They also suggested when you get to the sign on the path, go right. Great hike, watch out for poison ivy. But the pay off of the view at the end is quite nice.

The trail is currently closed. So, you are limited to the short stroll on the beach. Parking is very limited here. Have a Plan B in mind when heading here. If you do get a parking spot, you will be treated to the beautiful views of the historic waterfronts. Birdwatching takes place here, too. Listen to them sing.

This is a very nice scenic area on Quisset Harbor. It is a conservation trust that has beach and scenic access. As you start on the path and come to the main information sign, take your immediate right hand trail. It is the easiest way to do the tour. If you are hungry or thirsty, go to Pie in the Sky in Woods Hole for another Falmouth favorite.

Falmouth's "Knob", part of the Cornelia Carey Sanctuary just outside Woods Hole, is a narrow promontory of large boulders stretching out into Quissett Harbor and best known for it scenic view of Buzzards Bay. But having recently visited the site, I would say the real gem at this nature preserve is the small, admission-free, crescent shaped beach with its soft, clean sand and relatively warm water. No waves to surf here, just a lovely spot to sun oneself and wade into the clean salt water.
While many visitors to the area have heard of the Knob, it can be difficult to find. It is situated on Quissettt Harbor Road, a right hand turn located shortly before the approach to Woods Hole proper. A short drive on the harbor road brings one to the very limited parking area across from the entrance to the Cornelia Carey Sanctuary. Parking is free, but the marked spaces number only 10 with room for another five cars to squeeze in along the side of the road. We arrived around 11 am, saw no space available and drove to the beginning of a private, residents only road where we turned around, ready to give up on experiencing the Knob. However, luck was on our side and as we headed back toward Woods Hole a vehicle left, leaving us a legal parking spot.
The path out to the Knob is a short hike of just over a half mile through the wooded bird sanctuary. On our walk we were quite disappointed as the only birds we spotted were a handful of robins; no shore birds as had been promised in the literature we reviewed before our exursion. However, our disappointment was short-lived when we got to the point where the woods opened up to a beautiful view of Quissett Harbor, Buzzard's Bay and the famous Knob, straight ahead. We started out on the approximate quarter mile walk across the top of the boulders, but turned back as there were signs advising visitors to stay off the rocks. Apparently, not everyone takes the warning seriously as we spotted a few braver folks out at the end of the promontory.
As we turned to walk back to our car, on our left we discovered a set of stone stairs leading from our walking path down to a little beach below. Given what a warm sunny day it was, we were pleasantly surprised to find the small beach far from crowded. Perhaps the lack of a lifeguard and no food, beverage of comfort facilities discourages most folks from enjoying this little gem.
If you are planning to visit Woods Hole it is well worth a short side trip out Quissett Harbor Road and a visit to the Knob -- if you can find a parking space!

Parking is tricky in the summer, but walking through the woods with views of splendid Quissett Harbor and finally standing on the end of the peninsula looking at Buzzards Bay are wonderful. There's also a small, sandy beach to the right of one's walk out to The Knob.

Awesome trails spectacular sights. Had the place to ourselves. Saw a Downey male woodpecker working on a tree and gull, Robin and another season bird could not id. Very windy today but beautiful nevertheless.

The place is beautiful and enjoyed walking here.
Note:
- Lot of mosquitoes
- Have to walk little bit
- Parking area very limited
- No good after 7 pm.

I'd never heard of this place until I started looking at things to do in Falmouth. The Knob was one of the top-ranked places to go, so my husband and I decided to check it out. We were so glad we did! In early April, we had no trouble finding a parking spot, so we headed down the trail. There were lots of beautiful views along the way, and then at the end of the trail, we were surrounded by views of the ocean! We were glad that we brought binocs so we could see the birds swimming around (red-breasted mergansers, a horned grebe, and a pair of buffleheads). If you get a chance, you should definitely visit this sanctuary!

Park along Quissett harbor then follow the sign to the trail entrance. Wander through the woods, there are some forks in the trail but you are on a small peninsula so can't get lost no matter which way you go. Pause to check out the various moored yachts, ranging from classic Hereshoffs to a Chinese junk. There is a lovely beach on Buzzards Bay if you have time for a swim. Finally climb the short hill to the top of the Knob for a vista from the south Weepecket islands in the south, west to Padanarum across the Bay and north past Cleaveland Ledge Light to the Canal entrance. Nice short hike even with young kids, but remember to check everyone for ticks afterwards.

It was a beautiful summer evening and just walked through the trails in this sanctuary and landed at the tiny island that looked like the shape of the knob. The sound of the sea, the breeze and the sunset made it for a perfect evening. I highly recommend visting this place and seeing the sunset there. The trail that leads you to the knob is equally beautiful with birds chirping and the trees overshadowing the trails. Must visit!!

One night, we took our dogs and went for a walk at the Cornelia Carey Sanctuary.
We were delighted to go, as it is one of the few places where dogs are allowed in Falmouth.
We had a great time walking through the woods.. There are two paths that you can follow, and both lead to the water. We had a wonderful time there, and would surely become regulars if we lived closeby! Highly recommended for the views, especially at sunset!

Easy short hike to spectacular views of buzzards bay...usually no one else around ..so you can quietly enjoy the moment

When in Wood's Hole, having spent quite some time driving around trying to find a spot to park, I walked round a small market on which a chap was selling paintings. One of them was entitled the Knob and I said to the artist that that was a spot on my list of places I wanted to visit, but that we were finding it very difficult fo find anywhere without signs up saying YOU CAN'T PARK HERE. He conceded that the area likes to encourage visitors but doesn't like them to park. However, he very kindly gave me directions to the Knob and said there was free parking at the Harbour there, albeit it might be busy as there was a boating competition that day. We drove up there and lucked out with a parking space. What a beautiful spot. Immediately in front of you is a horseshoe shaped bay full of wee boats and with a beach on the far side. There were only a handful of people on the beach so we parked ourselves. Later on we walked along the coast which winds around following the path that was signposted as Corenelia Carey Sanctuary. There were steps up from the beach se we climbed up here and continued down the path which takes you to the actual Knob from where you have a view of the open sea as far as the eye can see. We also then discovered another beach on the other side of the path which you could reach by walking back down the path and taking steps to the left. This looked very pretty and reasonably empty also. This was one of my favourite spots on our trip

This is a beautiful nature area, highlighted by the rocky peninsula known as the Knob that sticks out into Buzzards Bay. The views along the path and atop the Knob are breathtaking. Short of actually being on a boat, it's about as close as you can get to feeling like you're out on the ocean. Well worth the short hike there. There is a nice, rocky beach area along the way,

A beautiful place to sit and let your mind wander. A short hike to get there , but worth it !!

Well worth the walk, its not far, just through a wooded trail, the Knob, has of the most breath taking views of Buzzards Bay. It’s a perfect place . Surrounded by water on all sides its great place for watching the sunset, or some time for reflection. Perfect place.

Nice, serene visit especially at sunset to enjoy a beautiful end to the day. The day I went it was not crowded nor was it crowded the first time an elder relative brought us out here more than ten years ago. Still the beautiful, tranquil nature area that we have always enjoyed. It was a short walk on a well worn path through a wooded area from the paved parking lot to the shore area. Well worth the visit!

While it may take 10 to 15 minutes to get through the terrain, the final destination is well worth the trip. Incredible views, amazing sunsets, and friendly co-travelers make this a must-do when in Falmouth!

We enjoyed a walk here on the first day of spring. Parking was available nearby in a few spots but it would be full during the season. The path is narrow but well-defined. There are some steps and some sloping uneven terrain which is only a problem if you have mobility issues. There are beaches on both sides and a pretty view at the tip of the walk. It is not a "hike" really, just a very lovely walk.

Long walk through the woods to see open ocean view. Nice to do one time but I don’t think it would be worth doing again.

Found this gem on a local map of the town that you get at local businesses. We were looking for something new to do before heading home and this was perfect. Went in late May just before Memorial Day so parking was not a problem. A short wooded hike leads you to Buzzards Bay and the views are breathtaking. It was so peaceful and serene. Highly recommend taking the time to discover this gem.

We took TomTom down Woods Hole Road, and, after some mis-steps, found the small sign that marked the entrance to this easy walking trail. Our efforts were rewarded with a breathtaking view of the sea, on an outcropping that juts into the wild ocean. We vowed to return in the fall.

On our trip out to the Knob, we neglected to study the map detailing the most direct route. We went to the left, which led us along a bumpy, jungle-like path with peeks of the sea. My kids thought it was a great adventure, but my mother-in-law with her two replaced knees and a bad hip, didn't quite agree with them. I found it to be pretty fun, just watch out for the poison ivy--there is a lot. Once we got to the more mainstream path, it was lovely and worth the short hike. Beautiful views of the ocean, seaside and harbor.

Excellent spot for a sunset or a picnic! Beautiful location in September when we went. Looking forward to going back.

Just seeing the little harbor you park along is worth the trip.... so New England. But the real treat is the short hike with views of the harbor at times and Buzzard Bay and the secluded beaches you can only access from the trail at other spots.... all ending at high point way out in the bay. Just spectacular. Take an hour or bring a blanket and picnic and spend the day at the beach. Not a lot of parking but people don't usually stay too long so even if it is filled, a spot should open soon.

The are nice views of the coastline on this short walk and it’s a good spot to bird watch. It is hard to park so you need to be patient or choose a time to visit that’s less busy.

This is the place to go to get Lyme disease. Many ticks, fall and summer where the bushes along the trails brush against your clothe. Great mosquito presence at dusk

we walked the trail, very easy walk, to the Knob. It was a clear day...we could see for miles...gorgeous views of ocean and beaches. I wish they had signs noting what we were looking at.

This is a must see. A little "island" sticking out in the water. Nice views. The beaches are great too. No parking so bikes are required when it's busy. Easy walking and dog friendly. Bring a picnic and enjoy this little sanctuary set among the mansions.

Walk among the trees to then pop out to a beautiful view of the sea. The sunset are always beautiful here and during the off season it's a wonderful walk for a family to take in outdoor life. Dogs are welcome too and you will meet many as you walk. Relax on the beach for a moment to take in the view.

Easy walking trails for families. We love the ocean views, especially from the Knob. We have visited before during the winter months when trails can be a little slippery, but still worth the visit.

Parking is a problem but if you can find a spot the short walk to the knob is well worth the effort.

Even in the frozen winter, the views of the Knob are stunning. Parking in the summer to get to the knob can be tough but never in the winter. It is a short hike to get to the Knob. There is a little beach as you are walking to the Knob. The Knob itself is a small area, but the beach off the Knob is a great little place to picnic. It is a dog friendly beach too.
The walk in the winter is windy and cold so prepare yourself.

This is a lovely place for a short walk. Unfortunately these is very little parking. Come early on the morning or after five. Come before or after summer where you will find less people and crowds.

Beautiful spot. Great views. Short hike. Bring bug spray. We brought my 11 year old son with us. We would definitely go back with a picnic lunch.

This was a great stop to get some fresh air and run the kids a bit. It's a mile walk out to the point. Park is limited and they tow if you park in a no parking area. Three cars towed the day before according to the security guard. No bathrooms or garbage cans so plan accordingly. Nice beach area, swim at your own risk and place to put in paddle boards or kayaks.

We agree that this is a nice walk through good dirt paths, no problem for a 5 year old. Bug spray is a good idea. During the day we didn't find it terribly exciting or unique. Bu certainly nice views of the ocean and it is definitely worth while, perhaps small family picnic at the Knob. Per reviews it seems dusk is the best, and I believe it would be at the Knob.Several trails down to sand or rocky beach areas that might be worth exploring and likely semi private. Kids enjoyed the beach by the marina/parking more than anything, I think it is little sandy beach (it is a very nice little protected beach for kids!). Parking is limited.

We absolutely loved this beautiful sanctuary and beach. My seven year old and 16 year old enjoyed themselves. The trail was not too strenuous and the water was sparkling clear. We’ll definitely be returning !

We didn't know much about The Knob but had read it was a good thing to see, but we were blown away with the view. We didn't realize it was going to be the most amazing place to see the sun set, and we just sat there in amazement at the beauty. LOVED IT!!

I understand visitors' frustration with the "invisible" signage and directions to this sanctuary - but that's part of what makes it special.
A wonderful short walk to the "knob" with really nice views of one of the prettiest harbors in Massachusetts. I have overnighted in the harbor, en route to the Vineyard or Cuttyhunk, but never realized this short walk existed.

This place is awesome. It's such a great piece of property. The views and the beach are fantastic. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I have been going to the Cape for years, yet we just learned of this hidden gem. The walk was very easy, there are stairs at times, but you can pace yourself. Many different paths will lead you to the beach or to the Knob. We just went May 10th and really enjoyed the walk. The weather was overcast, yet the serene walk was so beautiful...very enjoyable. Pleasant for kids of all ages.

Could not locate this place. No signs on road. Drove around and could not find this place so gave up and went on to next attraction.

We were in the area after coming back from ferry. So glad we found this (thank you, Tripadvisor!). The directions that opened in google maps from trip advisor were wrong, though. We parked and saw nothing. You need to go until the road ends. We were lucky to find one spot open of the 10 or so.
Short walk through greenery. Open path, though. Maybe 5+ min walk to end. The views of the water are awesome. Wish we would have packed a snack so we could sit and enjoy view.

This trail is very easy to follow and not too long to walk to get to great views. If you are thinking about bringing a stroller I would not recommend it. We were glad we left ours behind. The path is not that wide and in a lot of parts a stroller would not fit. But the closer space allowed us to let our son be the "trail leader" since tree roots and layout of the trail couldn't let him get too far away too fast.
The walk is so peaceful and birds can be heard the whole way. The view is beautiful and everyone enjoying the view have this calm and quietness about them at the top where there are benches for view observation.

Had no trouble finding the place, other than overshooting a turnoff which we quickly realized, with instructions from Google and reviewer tips. Not much parking and we went on a weekday morning in mid-June, so imagine it is nearly impossible on a weekend in July. Suggest getting there by 10 AM.
We took the path to the right and it was super easy--no bugs at all. It is SO serene there with many photo ops. Can't wait to go again next year!

Woods, ocean waves, rocky coast - beautiful views all around. Crowded in the summer but wonderfully quiet in winter.

The knob is a great place to walk and see a quiet spot on Cape Cod. My family has visited here with bag lunches when the kids were young and my teens still love to come here for a relaxing walk.

We had a fun time walking up the path and exploring the knob with our puppy. There were a few groups we ran into with other dogs as well. Such a fantastic view. Definitely worth going before sunset. They close at dusk and there is security guard there who checks the grounds as people live above the parking area near the marina. Parking is also limited. But it's free!

This is a beautiful walk to a great view, through forest and along the river. I found it strange to see a sign saying "no horses" just before the first set of stairs!

Found this place by accident when we were out exploring the cape. Not a lot of parking so you may have to drive around until someone pulls out. Views are great and bring your camera. We spent time walking on the beach and just sitting by the water. This is a place to leave your stress behind or let the kids play in the beach sand.

This is a beautiful little peninsula with walking trails overlooking Quissett Harbor on one side and Buzzard's Bay on the other. As a local resident who goes there often, I have the benefit of walking there. I can attest that although there are a few public places to park, demand is extremely high and you can realistically expect there being no place to park. Furthermore, given that the access road is a dead end, surrounded by private property it is difficult just to turn your car around around. I can't emphasize enough the lack of accommodation for motor vehicles.

This site can be found by driving down Oyster Pond Road all the way to the end. There is parking on the right side with the harbor on the left. The entrance to the knob is between the harbor and a private driveway. After walking a short distance there's an information kiosk showing different trails.
Parking can be a premium, so you may want to grab the first spot you see when you get to the harbor.
Watch out for poison ivy along the way.

We recently went for a nature walk at The Knob, and it was one of the highlights of our weekend trip to Cape Cod. At first, walking with our preschooler, I was rather nervous because the path to the left has quite a steep drop (to someone afraid of heights like me!) but then we switched to the right hand path, which has more protection on either side and which was thus very enjoyable to me. There is a lovely little beach out near the end, which my son loved running around on, and it is great for nature photography. Best of all, it’s free!

My wife and i went to the Knob in May. It is a pleasant walk, not too strenuous. Like others have said it is a little tricky to find and the parking is tight but it is such a nice walk and so worth it. There is a main trail following out on a penninsula but plenty of offshoots to check out. Views of the harbor are lovely and on the othere side is a wonderful rocky beach to explore but keep going. The trail goes up a hill and ends with a beautiful ocean views. Sit on the rocks and take it all in! The Knob is one of those places where you can spend a half hour or a couple of hours, it's up to you to enjoy.

We learned about The Knob from an inn keeper in Woods Hole years ago. It's one of my favorite places on the Cape. Just minutes away from busy Woods Hole Road, The Knob is accessed by a sandy path beginning along the quaint Quisset Harbor. Take any right along the bath to small, private beach areas to enjoy the peace and quiet and go for a swim. Continue to the end of the path to enjoy spectacular views of Quisset Harbor and Buzzards Bay.Time it right to catch a sunset. Parking is limited. Nice destination for a bike trip. Dogs allowed. No restroom facilities or concession. Bring your Smartphone or camera to capture the views.

We went on a Monday morning at 9am and parking wasn’t an issue. All the spots (about 8) were available.
We started walking down the path right in the beginning that tells you where to start but once we got onto the path, it splits left or right. We went left and ended up getting somewhat lost! It all leads to the same place I’m assuming but there wasn’t any signage and many different little side paths. We ended up walking down the beach path which was very large rocks. Then we got back on a path in the woods and took a guess on which way to go and eventually led us to the end result.
On the walk back, we stayed on the right path and it was much easier! So basically my advice is to stay to the RIGHT when you first enter where the main information bulletin board is and the path splits.

Finding the location was a bit tricky .. BUT it was worth the search.
The scenery was incredible. Keep going thru the woods to the end.
You will be rewarded with an AHA ! moment.
There is woods, beach, rocky shore....
We went on a weekday in the spring and there was plenty of free parking...

This is a great place to visit, somewhat off the beaten path. Fantastic views, especially on a bright sunny day. Get there early to get (free) parking (any time after 8 AM till sunset). While walking, when you come to the information kiosk/board, bear right. Nice little (though rocky) beaches, without a lot of people, also nearby, to spend a few hours. Quite a few of insects present (if you have sensitive skin, try and cover up).

This relatively small reserve is peaceful and beautiful with many different species of birds all around. The walk itself is pretty easy with only a few steps here and there and a lovely outlook at the end of The Knob out over the ocean and coastline.

Great fun! Easy walk to a beautiful lookout point. Parking was easy, but then again, we came on a gloomy December morning. Really gorgeous views and a nice quick leg-stretcher.

Always a joy to catch the sunset. I've done it for years, the memories of past visits adds to the experience.

A very dog-friendly place with clean, well-maintained trails. It was an overcast day, so it as a bit crowded, but the views are fantastic.

The "go to" spot for dogs in the summer when beaches are closed to them. Path is "ticky" and somewhat steep. View at the end is spectacular.

Great place to walk, secluded beach. Wooded trail, great oceann views from a small height (the knob). I'll not say where it is because I don't want it crowded!

The small hike through the woods is a fun adventure before you behold The Knob. Walking out to it and up the stairs brings you to beautiful views of the ocean. Don't forget your camera.

As a neighbor, The Knob is part of our daily routine. It is where we go for quiet, where we go to swim, and where we go to experience nature in what we hope will remain pristine condition. The road down is narrow with limited parking. It is best to park at the bike path and walk or ride your bike. If you do choose to drive, you will be sharing the road with plenty of people, children and dogs. You will be ticketed or towed if you are not in a marked legal spot. There are no bathroom facilities. There are no trash receptacles. All trash and recycling must be taken with you. ("Carry in. carry out." Just like the Appalachian Trail!) Dogs are welcomed but must be cleaned up after. The town does not care for this land. There is a non-profit organization working hard to maintain its history and beauty but resources are limited; particularly as erosion continues and The Knob gains popularity. This makes your job that much more important! Please join us in helping to care for this area. We'd like your grandchildren to enjoy it!

Trails now overgrown with the excellent possibility of you getting poison ivy along with tick borne diseases and multiple mosquito bites.

What a hidden gem this spot is to view the sunset over Buzzards Bay! It's a 5 minute walk to get to the best viewing spot on The Knob or you can sit on the beach. Either way it is a perfect spot to see Mother Nature at her finest.

This is a great place to take photo's while walking through the trails and ending at one of the best beaches in Falmouth. They call this the hidden beach and it truly is, since you cannot see it from the parking area. Make sure you get there early! No parking due to the harbor with people launching their boats.

On a cool late autumn day, hubby & I chose to day trip to the Cape. Since day time isn't very long in November, we set out on a Saturday morning. It was cloudy as we approached the coastline yet still nice to get out and about. Although I wasn't prepared for cold ocean breezes. The Knob is a small stretch of land built up as a sanctuary into Quissett Harbor. Parking is very minimal when you locate the road that brings you down into a quaint little harbor so head out early for a parking spot or wait until someone leaves. Truly a local gem! My hubby who grew up in Falmouth had no idea this place existed. So yes its a local secret. Any ways, there's a trail map posted as you enter the sanctuary. Be aware, in spring and summer for ticks. The trails are rather short and run on either side of the Knob. But as you go out to the Knob, the trail is narrow and exposed to very windy ocean conditions. Be prepared to bundle up or its very chilly. Once up on the Knob, the views are spectacular! The are stairs off the trail that lead down to the beach. Be very careful they can get slippery. I see other comments here state its nothing great but if you enjoy everything natural, this little gem is the place for you!

Truly a hidden gem. Not fancy. Not commercialized. The owner of this land donated this land for conservation hence the name.

I have done this walk several times, I prefer the early Fall, because I love the wind, and bay feel at that time of the year ! The path starts in beautiful Quissett Harbor, a hidden Falmouth jewel ! The path is not smooth, it is after all a path, not a sidewalk, so pay attention to tree roots, rocks, etc. When you get to the end it is worth the trip, your view is great whether looking North up Buzzards Bay towards the canal, or across looking at Mattapoisett, or West Island, or South to the Woods Hole. One time I was there the wind was extremely gusty, and it was wonderful, but then I love the wind, did you know they call the wind Mariah ? I suggest you Google Earth the Knob before you go to give yourself a feel for it, unfortunately the little Google earth "yellow man" didn't walk the path, he just drove to Quissett Harbor, the path is up to you !

Lovely walk amidst flowers ,and I saw a few birds, lovely scenic views of the ocean, when we finally reached the knob ,its was like being on the prow of a ship, really lovely viewing.

This was my favorite spot during my visit to Falmouth! Beautiful views of the sunset. Nice walk through the trees and paths along the water. Parking can be tricky. There are a few spots spread out along the street. It was a busy night when we went, maybe 20 people! We found a quiet spot to enjoy the sunset. I would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed this spot when staying in Falmouth. The biggest downfall is parking. We tried twice to find a spot then on our 3rd and final try we got a space a little ways off. Be careful when walking to the knob as it is a busy road and hard to see what is coming around the bends. Also there is some uneven pavement and I fell and scraped myself up pretty good but the very nice security man Jimmy at the top had some first aid materials. Thanks Jimmy! The walk to get there was easy and not too far. It took us maybe 15 minutes each way. The view was stunning. I could sit there all day. Our favorite spot on our trip to Falmouth. Don't pass it up!

The Knob is a spit of land sticking out of West Falmouth into Buzzards Bay. There is a short hike through the woods, and as you emerge, you are treated to a spectacular view of Buzzards Bay. Keep walking out to The Knob, and the view gets better. As others have noted, parking is at a premium during the summer, but if you can get here during off-times, you will be rewarded. This is a popular place to take your dog along, and there is a beach along the way where you and your pup can take a dip. Pack a lunch, have a picnic, and enjoy one of the best (and free) attractions in Falmouth.

My friend and I hiked out to the end of the knob on a sunny windy day. We met some people walking their dogs.
It is a very peaceful site ideal for taking pictures, sitting on the bench dedicated to Cornelia Carey...
Don't miss it.. Nature at its best!

Such a beautiful spot with so many paths to the sea! So many great photo opportunities & wildlife. Stay on the main trail to the Knob, & there are paths to the ocean on the right. The Knob offers a phenomenal view of the ocean & Martha's Vineyard. Take the alternate trail on the way back, there are paths to the water on the right. There is limited parking, two small areas with approximately 10 spots each, and you can only park between 10:00 a.m. & 6:00 p.m.

As the title says, just do it, it's very cool, parking is awful but so isn't everyplace in cape cod during the summer.

This location has a fantastic view of Buzzards Bay. It is probably 280 degrees of glorious water views. When in Falmouth, it is not to be missed.

great uncrowded beaches. be prepared for a short, pretty hike with great ocean vistas.

We really enjoyed exploring this lovely little harbor and walking out to the Knob. The views are amazing and the beaches are lovely around it.

In peak season the parking many be slim but off season it's a snap. It's a nice walk to 'The Knob' but a very nice view. It doesn't take much time so plan to do it slow and enjoy the experience.

been going to Falmouth for 35 years and never knew The Knob existed. Go during the week because of extremely limited parking. A fun little jaunt for the family. A short excursion of an hour or two. Beach swimming possible if you lug in your stuff.

You are rewarded with a lovely view of the harbor after a short hike. There are two routes available, but not marked. The trail to the right is very easy with a slight incline. The trail veering to the left is longer and more difficult .

We visit the Knob frequently. The walk through the woods to the point of land is peaceful as is the main walk. You can also walk along the shore. What you see varies with the season. We have seen fish leaping out of the water to catch little fish! If I were a young one I would want to get married on the knob.

This is such a fun spot, but parking is limited. Worth it to go a little early, or maybe a little later on in the afternoon. Great views!

A nice short one (about .5 mile?) out to a rock promontory. Decent place to walk the dog. Theres a private but rocky beach on the ocean side.

We found this by accident and its really worth a visit. A short walk takes you to a lovely spot with great views.

Short walk that leads to a beautiful view! Really quite a beautiful and free thing! We just sat and looked at the beautiful view! Our 2 year olds did the walk just fine. You walk out onto this peninsula that is gorgeous. We think its a great place to bring visitors too!

We took our 7 month old for a walk here while in Falmouth for 2 days and so glad we did. You have to use a carrier (strollers won’t fit on the trail) but it’s a short walk and not strenuous while carrying an extra load. We were nervous about all the reviews saying to go early since we realistically couldn’t go until 9-10am but we got there at 10 and easily got a spot at the first very small parking areas (4 spots) but there were 2 more small parking areas closer to the start of the trail that had a few spots left. We took the trail to the left at the sign and meandered but had we taken the trail to the right at the sign it would have gone straight to the end of the Knob. Be careful of all the poison ivy just off the trail!

There is a small public beach just off the trail to the Knob. This beach remains dog friendly in Summer (unlike almost all other Cape Cod beaches dogs are allowed at the Knob beach during Summer months). This beach is not supervised (no lifeguards).

As others point out, parking can be an issue, but it's worth the wait for a spot to open up! Fun, short hike out to the Knob, about 1/2 mile each way from parking area. Bring your camera and a picnic and relax on one of the beaches adjacent to the trails. One draw back is there are no restrooms.

We heard about this from another couple that was visiting. It was a nice hike, a nice beach is nearby, and the view at the end was really pretty. Lots of mosquitoes though and poison ivy. So bring the bug spray and stay on the path.

An easy stroll along a path leading to a beach and The Knob. Great views of the harbor, the boats, and the water. The path is a loop so you really can go in either--or both--directions!

Crowded, COVID19 virus protocols ignored by most visitors, tick infested (Lyme Disease), unruly dogs unleashed, trails so narrow that others without masks can hardly be avoided. Little to no room for safe physical separation. Parking so limited there is essentially none most of the time.
Recommend avoiding during the pandemic! Be safe. Go elsewhere.

This is a perfect spot for a scenic Cape Cod walk. The path is mostly flat with some roots but isn’t too steep and has steps where it can get somewhat step. Great spot for kids and dogs to explore but be on the lookout because some people don’t clean up after their dog. 😕
Parking is limited and I’m sure gets busy in the summer months. It is a great spot for watching the sunset.
It’s a really nice spot and worth a visit!

Located at the Knob (Quissett Rd) in Falmouth, this is a secluded bird sanctuary and small beach (don't need a beach sticker). Great views and quite private...a haunt for locals.

In the height of the season parking is a bit difficult. Once you arrive take the left fork in the trail to get a longer hike and all the beautiful vistas. The short trail on the right gets you to the beach and the ultimate scenic view more quickly. If you plan on swimming off the beach water shoes would be helpful- very rocky bottom. Small beach and great swimming. Hike is easy...you could easily do in flip flops.

We arrived about 45 minutes before Sunday which was perfect timing because we got the last parking spot. The trail was short and a bit bumpy but easy to walk. I wore flip flops but probably should have worn a rubble sole. The view is just gorgeous. If you are in the Falmouth area you must make the visit!!! Just breathtaking!

The Knob is a spit of land that is it's own peninsula. After a walk through the woods you end up surrounded by the ocean. On a clear day it's possible to see New Bedford. A great place to go ( if you get there early enough) for quiet time and meditation.

Wonderful place to take a mildly energetic walk on a lovely day. Surrounded by beautiful views of sea, boats, and Cape countryside.

Overall this was a nice place to visit with some nice trails and views, but really it was just nice, not great. The really great thing about it is that it is dog friendly.

My boyfriend and I recently took a trip to Cape Cod. We enjoy nature walks and decided to check out the Knob. SO GLAD WE DID!!!!! The trails are wooded and full of lovely foliage and birds singing. We took a path along the beach ... the views were SPECTACULAR! We people watched and even saw 2 happy dogs frolicking on the beach and splashing in the water. The peaceful ocean breezes and amazing views of the Atlantic ocean will surely take your breath away. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I can't say enough good things about this little walk. There were at least 10 parking spaces for it along the road, and only a few of them were used mid-morning on a Monday in late September when my dog and I visited. The walk is not long or difficult, but I was a little sorry I wore flip flops to do it when I stubbed my toe on a tree root. The path leads you next to a marina, through some woods, to a beach, then along the spine of the peninsula to the knob, where you can take in the 360 degree views and the sea breeze. We took the other less-used path on the return trip, which loops around the other side of the peninsula to the marina. Such a beautiful spot - I'm glad we got to experience it!

Walkways to a rocky and secluded beach or walk to an elevated point with some seats and a great view. Great place for good dogs.

the Knob is a secret place, if you ever get to Falmouth and your hosts tell you where it is your a very lucky person to even know where it is breathaking

Short, straightforward little hike. Ends at a lovely, quiet beach. Pretty harbour as you head into the hike too. Insider tip: No bathrooms/change facilities for the beach - so be prepared! Free parking available (a rarity in this area!) but there aren't very many spaces. Was great for a late afternoon hike/swim.

My daughters and I brought our dogs here for an afternoon walk. It was so peaceful and uncrowded that I've thought twice about writing a review. Limited parking, but worth the trip!

This is a great place to go to see the beautiful scenery and take a hike. It is a little point on the beach that you can hike through and enjoy the view. There is a little beach there if you want to take a dip to cool off. Hope you enjoy this little gem when you are in Falmouth, Ma. Happy Traveling!

Gorgeous hidden gem. Lovely short walk to the knob. Perfect at sunset for some soul searching & taking great photographs.

Very little parking available, tourist would find it hard to locate, the walk is not easy nor difficult but the view when you arrive is spectacular..

Visited this lovely place about an hour prior to sunset, and stayed to watch. People walking up the trail to the Knob chat, but at the top when they see the view all fell silent. There were about 20 people at one point - all of them quiet and just watching the waters and the sky. A must see location.

We walked on the path to The Knob that was lined with sweet honeysuckles. Not knowing what to expect, we continued on along the wooded path and began to smell the sea. The path opened up to a gorgeous view of the Sound. There are rock-made steps if you care to venture down to the secluded beach. We continued on, upon encouragement from a local... The Knob is a 360 view of sparkling water. It was truly breathtaking, almost a spiritual experience. We sat on the rock bench and just basked in the beauty. A must see if you are in Woods Hole or Falmouth area. There are many photo opportunities here. Also, limited parking. Enjoy a sunset here, you won't regret it!

So happy we found this place! Although we tried to follow directions given by another, we went too far left upon entering the path. We walked through an unnecessary longer part.(should have gone right!). It was very peaceful and beautiful. We got there early and had no difficulty parking. Glad we visited.

I have been coming here since I was a child. I have to say that the trails were a little bit easier to walk along and the tree with the rope swing was a favorite. Breathtaking views. I have brought many people here and they enjoyed going through the woods and ending up at an overlook of the ocean.

Popular spot, limited parking though. It's a fun little walk. I bring my little coccapoo, she makes friends along the way. Bring a picnic sit on a rock & enjoy. It is a nice view a nice way to spend an hour. It's uphill of course so wear appropriate shoes.

Really a must especially if you love photography. It's a good for the soul experience. The views are just breathtaking. Parking is a bit of a challenge.

You won't just discover this place. Even when you park, you will have to search for the path through the "tunnel" to entrance. A very unique vista of buzzard bay all year round.TAKE THE RIGHT ST THE FORK!

Even in the rain and carrying umbrellas the walking path out to the Knob was lovely. It truly is a sanctuary, and we were delighted that friends took us there.

This is a relatively short and easy walk out to the Knob. There are some stairs and some roots to navigate so it might be a bit more challenging for anyone who has knee or hip issues.
That being said, the views at various points along the way are spectacular and, even better, if you're there at a time when a lot of other people are not.
It's a nice break if you don't have a lot of time but just want to stretch your legs and soak up some classic New England views.

Sometimes parking is a challenge. Don't give up, the trails are easy to navigate. Great walk to the end with bonus beach access to sit and enjoy the peace

It's an easy stroll but with a great view. If it's a hot day take your swimmers and enjoy a refreshing dip. We went lunchtime mid week in June and didn't have any parking issues but there aren't many spaces. It's a delightful spot and the drive there from Falmouth was very scenic. A worthy detour.

My family and I traveled to the Cape last week and this was one of our many morning stops! A perfect early morning/afternoon hike! Perfect for young kids and families! Although I would suggest leaving the stroller behind as the trails are very narrow and bumpy. My 2 1/2 and 6 1/2 year olds LOVED this hike! The end was so worth it, beautiful views!
What I wish I knew about were the little hidden beaches accessible along the trail! If you can, bring a backpack with your swimming gear!
We will definitely be revisiting The Knob and next time enjoy one of those cute little beaches! :)

The COVID restrictions for this place are tough and there is no parking! Along with that the police are waiting for you to park illegally all of our groups cars got parking fines. This place is overrated head to East Falmouth or Stoney beach in woods hole
Don’t bother !

Visited in off season so we had no issue with crowds or parking. Nice evening walk from parking lot on trail that led out to a spectacular sunset view. Would recommend taking a flashlight or returning to your car before dark as trail is somewhat rustic and uneven which could be a little tricky navigating in the dark but we'll worth it.

Parking areas are limited but they can be found, especially by the Inner Harbor area (about 6 cars). Make the effort as this is a shortish but beautiful walk, and make sure you go out on The Knob itself. We spent some time just sitting on the steps on the rocks, just looking at the views in peaceful bliss.

Only a few minutes walk from the car park on Quissett Harbour, but most enjoyable, with some small animals visible along the way and also a number of flowers and shrubs.
Eventually one comes out on the small stone causeway out to the Knob, where again we saw some small wild animals. The sound of the sea lapping on the rocks was very restful and we sat on the stone benches on the Knob for a little while, before walking back again!
A short but very pleasant interlude!

A beautiful spot in Falmouth that definitely should not be missed. The trails are well-maintained and the views are stunning. Be advised that there is very limited parking--if going during peak season it is recommended to try and go in the morning.

It is a very nice walk with amazing views. I recommend checking it out if you are ever in the area if you enjoy nature walks.

This is truly a hidden gem of falmouth ma. I had heard of the knob through a book I was reading and so set out to find it. I found quisset harbor and saw some signs for knob.I srarted out walking through some woods surrounded by water and boats. Wheni came out of woods could not believe what a beautiful and peaceful place this is.you can sit and listen to the birds or stroll along the shore.a must see if you love the ocean.

Based on reviews here, we decided to check out The Knob, and though difficult to find, we are glad we did. A beautiful location and free to boot! If you take the trail to the left, it is overgrown, narrow, and challenging. Definitely a hikers trail. It has a lot of little trails branching off of it, and I can see how it can become buggy at times (solution: carry insect repellent).
The trail to the right is wide and predominantly flat. An easy trail for those who prefer a leisurely walk. When you arrive at the knob, there is an incline but it is not demanding and only takes approximately 20 minutes to get to. On the way you will pass by a beach on your right that faces Buzzards Bay and the ocean. On your left will be Quisset Bay. Very picturesque. Great place for a 1 to 2 hour sojourn.

Cold and windy, a beautiful sunny blustery day at the beach!
We walked along the water in the picturesque cape cod town.

Very easy nature walk little gem in Falmouth. Spent a good hour or so out here just soaking in the views. If you’re in Falmouth I would highly recommend adding this to your plans. You do have to get there early during peak season as there is not much parking.

Our family stopped here before getting on the ferry to MV. We enjoyed it so much we hardly wanted to leave. Can't wait to go back again! Just breathtaking!

Nice walk through the woods to a beach area and then on to a raised point of land (the Knob). The views of the ocean are lovely. There are a few stairs at each end of the walk but not many. There is also a bench to sit on at the top of the Knob.

We were in town over Memorial Day weekend for a wedding and tried to do and see as much as we could. The Knob was one of the things on our list and was by far the best thing we did. Once parked we took a short hike to The Knob, sat down and took in the scenery. The views were amazing the and water all around this sanctuary was very clear and calm. It seems like people like to find a secluded nook along the water around this sanctuary and enjoy the peace and quiet. If we didn't have other things to do I would have spent much more time here. Beware parking is limited.

It was so warm, we were able to walk on the beach barefooted even though it was February. Beautiful vistas, rustic trails and great history if you want to do a little research beforehand. The "Knob" is a specially amazing land formation, like a little island.

Great place to explore. The paths were fun to walk along. Can't wait to go back and have a picnic. Limited parking.

Beautiful location in Buzzards Bay, a short walk from the parking lot along a wooded path. Great place to meditate and watch the ocean. Lots of (foot) traffic in summertime. We passed about a dozen people even in January!

One of the most beautiful
spots in Falmouth, overlooking the picturesque Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay. There is parking available and it is a really nice walk down the trail to the Knob. My husband and I received a painting of the Knob as a wedding present...we cherish the painting of this truly spectacular location.

A beautiful easy 1 mile hike to a small piece of land out in the ocean. It is so beautiful, the site of many weddings and hikes by young and old alike. It is a bit hard to find as the signage is not great which makes it just that much more charming. Highly recommend spending a bit of time out there.

Not crowded at all and plenty of parking on a Sunday morning at 10 am. Easy walk and lots of side walks - small beaches to relax in.

This is a wonderful spot to walk to with a gorgeous view when you get there. Beautiful walk! Don't miss it!

This is a gorgeous spot! It was a short, easy hike out to the knob. It would be a great spot for a picnic. My teens agreed it was a highlight of our vacation. Parking could definitely be tricky, but on the chilly day we went was not an issue.

Not only is this out of the way a great spot for a short hike to the water but there's a beach perfect for little ones near Quisset Harbor too. And if you like to sketch or paint this is perfect - or bring a picnic

Beautiful nature walk on trails through woods. Worth the trip for a breathtaking view. Popular with tourists.

the ocean views are outstanding and the walk is not difficult. you will remember having walked to the knob. (you may need a sweatshirt if it is not hot out).

The 'Knob" is one of the best kept secrets on the Cape. A beautiful place to take a stroll, have a picnic or watch a sunset. Outside of the immediate Falmouth area, many local residents of the Cape have not even heard of this place. You should not make the same mistake!

This is really a place only locals know and get too. Not much parking. Beautiful locale, dog friendly. Just a fun little path to the end. We love it!

While visiting Falmouth we decided to tour the Cornelia Cary Sanctuary (The Knob". The location is absolutely lovely and has a great view. We stayed long enough to observe the sunset and as a result met many people from various locations (USA and other countries) enjoying their time away. Would highly recommend the walk and plan to do this again.

Just an amazing place to enjoy the beauty of the ocean and the landscape. And it’s free!! Just lovely.

No parking, got ticketed , many people not wearing masks, dogs scared my kids on beach. Looking for another place . Over rated

Beautiful views, easy walk to do with kids, and a great little beach for a quick swim (no bathrooms or change rooms so wear your swimsuit underneath!).... Both adults and kids really enjoyed it, the walk only took about half hour but allow longer for some photos and relaxation at the beach!

This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. I literally got to a point and stopped walking b/c I was stunned by the beauty. We went in Sept with perfect weather about 3pm- this was a great time to explore. We walked the rocky beach around part of the way and then walked up the stairs to the end of the knob and then took the trail back. You will not regret going here.

it takes 10-15 minutes to walk to the knob.it has a few inclines but it is manageable.you walk along the ocean and the views are very special.the dogs that i encountered were well trained..it is short ride from woods hole

first you go by the beautiful quisset harbor and then a short trail walk of less than 1/2 mile takes you to a beautiful point from which you can see in all directions. The hike is not too strenuous. When we have guests visiting us , we always try to take them here, There is actually a very small beach near the harbor, and a beautiful beach ( rocky however) on the way to the point. Beware of lots of poison ivy- the scourge of Cape Cod. Try yo go for sunset if you can/

This is a little off of the beaten path. You wont hear a lot about it on the internet. It is a odd looking jetty that goes way out into the ocean. Once you are on it you feel like your in the middle of the ocean.
It can get busy here for a sunset but it is very beautiful. Great way to end a day in falmouth.

On a recent visit to Falmouth we had a chance to check out the Knob at sunset. It's an easy 20-minute walk through the woods to the outcropping, with a 270-degree view over the water. It's a small viewing area, best enjoyed alone or by a small group, so the limited parking is probably to its benefit.

No parking and really difficult to get to. The view is gorgeous and it would be a great place to watch the sunset but there are about ten parking spaces and they are always full.

I can't believe this is not a higher rated spot for attractions near Falmouth. This short hike and views were among the highlight of our trip to Cape Cod this year.
Parking is limited - but it's not a long walk from other spots to park.
If the weather permits, consider bringing your swim suit and a picnic. The beach is lovely with stunning views.
Thank you Ms. Carey for ensuring the preservation of this spot. It is spetacular!

Lovely views make this walk superb especially in the off season when you can enjoy the solitude and easily find a parking space!

Check it out if you have a spare few hours. Parking is limited and the trail is probably not great for people with limited mobility but the view from the knob is nice, go early to avoid others!

The hike itself is quite short, but very lovely. The view at the end was beautiful. However, the really fun thing about visiting the knob for our family was going down afterwards to the nearly empty beach on the ocean side.

Peaceful walk through the woods to the Knob. Beautiful views! A great place for an early morning walk. When we got to the Knob, we were greated by 2 guys sitting on the rocks playing their guitars. Take a bit of time to just sit back and relax and watch the ocean.

This is an easy hike. You have paths that go through out the sanctuary. Once on the Knob you can see Martha's Vineyard, across Buzzards Bay to Naushon Island and south into Rhode Island. Lots of birds, rabbits and chipmunks. Wish people with dogs would clean up after them is my only complaint.

A bird sanctuary, walk to a sea peninsula, dog friendly beach...best place in Falmouth and its quite private

My friend found this sanctuary. Not difficult at all. Beautiful walk brings person through lightly wooded path to great views of ocean on a tiny peninsula. Tip of peninsula gives almost 360 degree view.

After a short hike along a shady path, you are rewarded with incredible views. We loved it. Parking was limited, but we just parked a little farther down the road and extended our walk. Take the right fork for the easier walk....the left fork is longer and rockier according to the locals we chatted with.

This is a beautiful place with views of the water. It is off the beaten path but well worth finding. We will be back again. The Sunsets are stunning.

As I drove around Quissett Harbor, I marveled @ how smooth & peaceful the water was. I walked the paths of the Cornelia Carey Sanctuary to The Knob, & enjoyed amazing views of Buzzard's Bay.
Secluded beaches can be accessed off the woodland paths of this small peninsula.
Thank You Cornelia Carey for recognizing the uniqueness of this spectacular spot, & for your generosity in preserving it for the public to enjoy.
Look on the web for the fascinating 9-page history of the Quissett Harbor House Hotel, taken from the Woods Hole Museum archives.

Nice short walk through the woods with beach and harbor views. Located near Woods Hole so it is convenient for food and shops.

The Knob, as it is informally called, is the perfect place for a leisurely hike (the walk is not too strenuous). The wooded trails culminate at the Knob, a lookout point that provides sweeping views of the Bay. Along the way, you'll encounter birds, trees, flowers, and small animals, but the real attraction is the view. Nearby parking could be a little difficult, but, even though you probably wont spend much more than an hour there, the Knob is a worthwhile attraction.

The Knob is a fun place to visit all year round. There are several paths on which you can walk to and from the beach area. The Knob itself offers amazing views of West Falmouth Harbor and the surrounding area. The grounds are dog friendly which is great but be sure to keep tabs on your dog for there are always more than a few four legged friends around!

Peaceful and beautiful walk to the "Knob". Enjoy a great view of both Buzzards Bay and Quisset Harbor. Beach on the Harbor is open to the public.

this is a great walking trail with awesome views from the end of the walk. The knob is a leisure stroll with a great end of trail view. There is a nice wide trail or some others that are walkable but not as wide.

Short (10 minute) hike through pretty woods to a point with spectacular views up and down the coast. We regularly take guests there

"The Knob" is an iconic place on Cape Cod. It is a like a scale model of a peninsula gone somewhat awry. Imagine a baby volcano (inactive, thank God) built out of a Cape Cod stone jetty. You take a short walk out to it on a fairly narrow path, water on both sides, and when you reach the top there's a neat little bench to sit down. Other than the pathway, you are surrounded by water and Buzzard's Bay sprawls out in front of you, looking south and west. There are few places better to watch the sunset. You get to it by finding Quisset Harbor in West Falmouth. The one big negative about it and the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the parking is very limited when you get down to the harbor. Worth a second attempt if you can't park the first time.

You may find parking a bit difficult in the height of the season but give it a go anyway because the Knob is a great overview. We took our son from California for the walk in the winter and he was 'blown away.'

This is a lovely spot, but as people have noted, it is also very popular and there are very few parking spaces. The hike out to the knob with ocean vistas is reasonable in the daylight but not completely flat so walking shoes are recommended for the careful or uneasy walker. There are spots you can hike off to on the ocean side where you might swim, but it is very rocky. The other side of the knob is mostly moored boats in season. It is worth a drive down just to look at the nice little harbor.

This pleasant walk along a bay ends on a small tidal island overlooking the sound. As you reach your destination, a terrific onshore breeze can be a surprise, though a nice one. The knob gives a panoramic view though parking can be difficult.

A favorite walk and lovely view especially for sunset! Beach is great too. Have taken my kids out on this walk many times and love the walk through the canape that leads to open ocean.

We had a great morning walking and beaching here. It's dog friendly - leash only and our golden had the time of her life. Trails are narrow and poison ivy plentiful, so be careful. There is a particular challenge to hiking on narrow bumpy trails in flip flops carrying beach chairs. However once you get to the beach, it's worth the effort. Quiet beach along Buzzards Bay, calm water great for swimming. Kids (age 14 and 10) loved the walking and hiking up to the knob.
Parking is a challenge, go early in the morning.

A hidden gem. Yes, parking is incredibly limited but my God people, stop complaining. Life is compromises. There is nothing good in life that does not come without a cost. So what, you have to wait to park or park a few hundred feet down the road. Have one less twinkie for dessert and walk. It is well worth it. A cleared 15 minute trail leads you to one of the most breathtaking spectacular views on the cape. A rocky beach on the way is a welcomed break for kids and dogs. (and maybe you too twinkie eater). And best of all, it's free. Ahh, you see, somethings in life are free afterall. Go enjoy.

One of the most beautiful little harbors on the Cape sits alongside The Knob. This sanctuary is beautifully maintained and we are privileged to be able to walk it as we do. When you first arrive, I suggest choosing the steps to the left as that takes you along the harbor and eventually links up with the easier path (the steps to the right). I save the easier path for the walk back to the car as we tend to go at sunset and it's easier to navigate the wider path in fading light. There are several opportunities to access the beach, but otherwise we try to stay to the paths. Be on the lookout for poison ivy (another reason to stay on the paths), and the bugs can be quite bothersome at times. We walk The Knob every year and love having this sanctuary in Falmouth where we've taken so many wonderful family photos!

A chance to walk to the Knob lookout with spectacular views of Buzzard's Bay and the far coast just visible. The site is kept as natural as possible so no facilities of any kind. There is a good beach on the bay side and on the east side Quissett Harbour, with plenty to see. Not the easiest place to find but well worth the effort.

If you love the serene nature, you'll enjoy The Knob. It's a short hike through the woods to get there. A nice place to relax, take in the view, clear your mind...

I visited the Knob today, a perfect day in June. It's a short walk along a wide path ( bear right at the sign for the best route) to a spectacular rocky outcrop overlooking the ocean. A granite bench at the end is a great place to watch boats and birds - saw Foster's terns and loons today. Thank you Cornelia for donating this special place!

The Knob is privately managed and operated at great expense. If you use it, then please respect the dog leash rules and please contribute to the maintenance of this important Falmouth landmark!

A great sunset hike. A great spot of a picnic, too. A summer swim in Quissett Harbor can be refreshing.

We enjoyed walking around the Harbor but the main reason we went was to walk the trails to see the sunset. It was a great evening and it's an easy walk and short climb (up stairs) to where you can sit on the rocks and watch the sunset-really an ideal spot. We were licky to see a gorgeous sunset. I have included photos but as usual when trying to capture a sunset the photos don't do it justice ---way prettier in person. It was the perfect ending to our trip. The only negative is the trails are a bit overgrown and narrow so if you are worried about ticks or mosquitos then you might want to spray yourself really well but that shouldn't keep you from going.

Nice place to walk and enjoy the natural beauty. Ocean view is perfect and provides beautiful sunset view.

Short hike rewards you with amazing views. I recommend taking a right at the fork which leads to amazing views as you approach the knob. On your way back take the stairs down to the rocky coast trail. You'll see plenty of small hermit crabs. Recommend sticking around for a beautiful sunset at seen from the knob.

Although the day we did this hike was a bit drizzly, we enjoyed this short hike out to a very beautiful spot that was surrounded by water on 3 sides. When doing this hike, if you have young children who are in flip flops or want less rugged terrain, I would recommend that you stay to the right when you hit the fork in the path to stay on the main trail. The left side gives you views of the cove/harbor but there are more roots that you could trip on and the vegetation closes in on the narrow trails at some points.
Definitely worth the time to see this pretty spot!

A nice tramp through the woods, which then opens up to a sweeping view of Buzzards Bay. The trail then narrows and has ocean on both sides, then leads up some steps to an observation area with even more views. Room to sit on benches and picnic if you like. Takes about 45 minutes total hike.
About a dozen parking spaces available. No bathrooms. Trail is narrow. If you go, wear hiking boots or sturdy footwear.
Directions: follow Woods Hole Rd towards Woods Hole. At set of lights with yellow house on corner, take right. Follow to the end (1/2 mile or so) You'll see parking and signs leading to trail.

Incredible beauty, lovely beaches (one side is sand, the other is mostly smooth stones). Get there early if you want parking. You want parking.

We got a little lost trying to find this place , but it ended up being well worth it. We managed to find a parking spot which is vital, there are only about 15 spots. If you enjoy some windy sandy paths with some peeks at the ocean, that culminates into a beautiful overlook of the ocean.Next time we will swim.

we stumbled onto this after hearing about it from locals, breathtaking. Make sure you follow the path all around past the harbor

visited in late May. very nice walk of@ 1/4 mile, & easily accessible to seniors who do not need walking assistance.

The knob is a short easy hike to a wonderful view of Buzzards Bay. The parking is limited but it is worth the effort. It costs nothing and only takes up an hour of your time. A hidden gem.

Went here on mother's day. It was really beautiful. Easy walk through the woods to the beach and then the "Knob". Nice seating at the Knob. There isn't much parking but that means if you do find some, there won't be many people there. I do have to mention one thing. We were there on 5/10/15 and the water was freezing. That said there was a couple of teens skinny dipping down the beach (clearly in view) and a topless girl in the water near the path. I can't believe this was a one time thing there so I probably would be careful about bringing kids.

This was an easy nature walk that ends up at The Knob where you can see for miles. Definitely worth the trip.
When you come to the fork, the trail on the right is the shortest distance to The Knob. The trail on the left winds around through the woods and along the water. It isn't difficult, but it is definitely longer with more plants to navigate around. It is windy here, but we didn't find that it was chilly because we were walking. Loved the view.
Parking is limited, so you have to wait or go at off-times. Spectacular views of the coastline, water, birds and vegetation. We took the entire loop & spent some time taking pictures at the top, and we were there about an hour. But, you don't have to take nearly that long if you prefer to do the quick route to the right.
I definitely recommend this walk if you enjoy walking in natural surroundings.

After a 10 minute easy hike or so, that has gorgeous views along the way, you came to a clearing. To the right is a dog friendly beach and to the right is the knob. The views of the water and the homes on the water are outstanding. This is a great activity for a family, couples, with dogs, or really anyone who enjoys the outdoors. It's a great place to walk your dog and just get some fresh air. I can't say enough about the views and the hike is not a challenging one. We went in the morning and wanted to go back the same afternoon but it started to rain. So we went back the next morning. Needless to say, I would definitely go back.

To get to the view you must walk through the woods on a marked trail. There are several different routes you can take. The view from the Knob is just lovely. It is a fairly short walk but some of the trails are a little uneven ( not paved). Such a lovely legacy to preserve from development!

A very short wooded walk from Quisset Harbor off the Woods Hole Road leads you to an elevated knoll that faces Buzzards Bay to the west and Quisset Harbor from the south- magnificent views and a great place to sit on the stone bench and picnic. If you want a swim, you can walked down to the shoreline and have a dip in the water.

Nice outing through some woods next to the small harbor, ending at a picturesque spot that sticks out into the ocean (the Knob). Maybe a leisurely 15 minute walk one way. I had difficulty finding the place. The spot on TripAdvisor's site is pretty close. Basically there are 2 small parking places along that road. The "trail head" is near this big house in the distance. There's a sign there near the dock, that's the first time I saw any mention of Cornelia Carey Sanctuary; not even Google Maps could find it. Then after starting out, I had little idea where to go, there are a bunch of forks in the path; I guess they end up in the same area, but we stayed near the water. As others mentioned, stay on the path, to avoid poison ivy. In the water near the dock, you can see a fair number of jellyfish.

My daughter and I love going to the knob for hiking swimming or just to relax if you go at sunset its the best we saw wild turkeys one time up here its just beautiful

This summer was our first to walk The Knob! Parking is convenient. The walk takes one through cool woods, the open water with a stair to go down to the sand and wet your feet and the rocky promontory at the end. There are several path detours along the way, affording views of the harbor. Another three generation adventure while sharing the pleasure of the honeysuckle as we strolled!

Nice hike and relax on the bench looking at the boats and sunset whatever u enjoy. Bring lunch also you could walk on the beach, swimmming

A gorgeous corner of the Cape that is so peaceful and quiet. Great views and splendid for birding.

This is a good walk in the woods but nothing special until you get to the end and see the view from the knob.

The Knob is a beautiful location and a really easy hike. The view of Buzzards Bay is beautiful, and the walk past Quissett Harbor is nice, too. We hiked out on the harbor side and returned on the more direct path closer to Buzzards Bay. We enjoyed going at low tide to explore the beach and rocky shoreline on the way. There's not a great deal of parking, though. Please remember to stay on the trails and don't throw stones from the knob or the neck into the water! Erosion does a good enough job without our help.

A Falmouth gem in all seasons - rain or shine. Honeysuckle lined the path today to Buzzard's Bay. Can't wait for a summer sunset.

The Knob is beautiful. This is great place for anyone: single, couples, families...even the dog. There are two paths to the top. The one on the right is the most direct. The one on the left winds it's way to the top and takes longer. Bring your lunch and enjoy the beach. The best part is it's FREE. If you plan to spend several hours on the beach, get there early so you can get a parking space. Parking is limited but turns over quickly. Most people come just for the walk .

You start at a picturesque harbor with boats all around and end at a beautiful, photo op of a spot where, if you like, you can take a dip in the ocean. In between, lovely wooded trails. What could be better? And parking, to boot!

Beautiful easy walk. Spectacular views of ocean. Sunset is priceless. Parking is limited.
You will be pleasantly surprised at this hidden treasure.

Short, easy walk on a tiny peninsula. It was our favorite place to explore while we were at the Cape. No signs lead you there. You need a local map or person to direct you. Beaches, photo opportunities, wildlife. Limited parking. Windy as you approach the Knob. Dog friendly. Absolutely beautiful. A must see.

Knob is interesting thing to look at. Its always windy down there, even on a hottest day. You also walk through a lots of greens and it is a long wals. Parking is challenging, but if you do find parking, it is totally worth it!

Beautiful scenic stop if you're in the area. Small hike but generally flat. Great for everyone including kids. Trail is a bit uneven & not meant for anyone with walking issues unless you have time to take it slow. Well worth the hike when you get to the end. Definitely worth a stop!!!

Decided to find The Knob and take a hike out to it. Very nice walking trail although it's a bit rough with tree roots, rocks, etc. so probably not good for someone with walking problems. The path was very clean and ended at The Knob which is a bit of land sticking out into the water. Wished I had brought binoculars. There is very limited parking. A co-worker said she knows someone who proposed at The Knob. Seems like a great place for that!

It's a nice view perched on the top of a hill. My friends oohed and ahhed. It was okay, but not worth the walk along an unmaintained dirt path along the beach. There is no lighting, so it came become interesting walking after sunset.

If you like a light hike followed by the reward of a great photo-op by the water, then definitely stop here. Not sure why people were complaining of parking. There are multiple places to park before you get to the entrance - but you may have to walk a little more.
When starting the trail, it will split early to the left and right. Take the left for a more challenging hike or the right for an easy stroll. Both take you to the same destination.
Only regret is we didn't pack a swim suit as it turns out you can go for a dip when you reach the water. Oh well.

This surely qualifies as a hidden gem. The sanctuary provides a great natural preserve just minutes away from the busy downtown area of Falmouth. There is a series of lush trails that snake through the preserve. For those heading to The Knob keep right at the first fork by the information marquee at the beginning of the trail. We took a more round about way which was a bit longer. The direct path is just ten minutes or less. At the end of the trail is The Knob, a bluff that sticks out into the bay. In addition to a breathtaking view, a short climb down the rocks allows you to enjoy a refreshing swim. The hiking is good as well and the trails are easy. Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, bring refreshments!

The views are wonderful, even on a cloudy day. This was our first visit so weren't sure which path to follow. We went on the path to the left which has a bit of tough terrain. I would recommend taking the path on the right for an easier walk out to the end.

Nice walk along the water or through the trees. Good views once on "the rock". Very limited parking. And the neighbors apparently don't want ya walking on their sacred sod, because no trespassing signs are plentiful.

Walk on a short trail to a dog friendly beach, all year long,or continue and end up at a nice viewing area where you can sit on the rocks and enjoy a picnic lunch. Also a cove with very kid friendly swimming. Not much parking especially in the summer months but it appears most people make their own spaces along the road. Never seen anyone towed but guess it's a chance you take.

Found this place by accident and glad we did. There was no one around and the walk and the views at the end were spectacular. This is a hidden gem which I guess the more people who talk about it on TA, it won't be such a hidden gem.
Limited parking so beware.

This is a must see. You go from the marina through the woods along the coast to the knob. You can take different paths down to the beach or marina rocks. The views and foliage are breathtaking. Lived here for years and missed this hidden gem.

Information contained in other reviews was accurate. Beautiful scenery, we especially liked the stairs that went down to the bay!

My husband and I along with a few friends enjoyed this short nature walk. On the way up there are stops you can make on the beach. We enjoyed sitting on a rock near the water before heading to the end. Once you get to the end it's an amazing view of the water. Enjoyable walk with really nice views. Note, It's not paved.

We did walk on Saturday afternoon. It was very nice and easy walk. We had 3 yo and she enjoyed running the whole trail. It is a good place to introduce kids to nature walks/hikes.

The Knob is a short walk through a wooded path that offers a dramatic view of Buzzards Bay and the entrance to Quisset Harbor.I have visited it many times over the years. If you go to see the sunset be sure to bring a flashlight as it is quite dark in the wooded path upon your return.BTW late at night it is beautiful as well.
The Knob
Delightful short walk with a great view at the end. A little bit of woods and then a lot of ocean. Great spot to take photos as well.
