Obviously the Flint area gets a lot of negative publicity but just outside of town lies the village and railroad which were both decorated for the holidays. I wanted to see the railroad in operation and it was quite neat since there aren't many narrow Guage railroads in the midwest. The village was nice and there were plenty of shops open.

My sister-in-law introduced Crossroads Village. They have good family activities with seasonal themes. The Holiday lights display was sO wonderful. My own children are college age now and we still go at least twice a year to visit. Don't forget the train ride too!

I had planned a weekend trip to Frankenmuth and after researching things to do on Tripadvisor I came across this as an option. I am so thankful that I did because that truly was an amazing experience.
The cost to get was $13.00 per person which also included a 40 minute train ride on the Huckleberry Railroad. (Also known as the Huckleberry Holiday Express Train)
The entire village was a decorated with Christmas lights. All of the staff was dressed to the period which made you feel like you were back in the 1800's.
A must see especially during the holidays!

For the most part this little village was an experience for my family and I. For what we where expecting I would say the Train and the boat ride made the trip worth it. A good five hour trip will give you plenty of time to see this place. Some of the staff are really grasping in the air for accurate historical statements. Overall I would say that this is one of the places that you could spend a few hours at but please don't listen to those people who compare it with Greenfield Village, Greenfield is in another league comparatively.

Love coming here. Love being able to check out the old buildings as well as riding the train. There is also the Genesee Belle which will take you on a trip around the lake. So much fun. There are old rides to try out for the young and old of heart.

Took my guy here to get into the Christmas spirit. We did the village pass only as neither of us wanted to sit on a train ride. We enjoyed walking through the historic buildings and the Holiday lights were an impressive display. Seeing the train engine and cars coming through the village for boarding and disembarking was pretty neat. The cars were beautifully decorated for Christmas too. Very enjoyable tour!

The living history area is nice and you can enter school, houses, mill etc all staffed with costumed staff explaining life at each site. Train ride is fun and takes about 45 mins going about 4-5 miles through the park. It is a bumpy but enjoyable ride. There is also a sternwheel boat for an hour long ride on Mott Lake. Staff here are excellent, talking to guests and taking pictures for guests. All staff we met were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend the combo ticket for the village, railroad and boat. A very enjoyable way to spend a few hours!

Halloween is a great time to visit but plan for a long drive in from the expressway exit as well as a long walk from the parking lot to the main entrance.

Enjoyed visiting all the historic charm of the the village. The carrosell ride and ride on the train were a highlight to the trip. Had lots of fun browsing in the shops with the one of a kind items.

This is a great place for kids on Halloween. The tickets are relatively cheap and it's a safe place to take them Trick or treating.

It has so many things to do you should stay all day. The train ride especially during holidays is fabulous! The village is well organized and the staff is so helpful. It has a special place in my heart as I got married in the old church and we had our reception there as well! It was perfect for our out of town guests as they could stroll through the village and enjoy the attactions between the wedding and reception.

Went to see the lights and ride the train. Took my parents and they liked it also. They have a short play to watch in the opera house. There are several buildings including a school where you can write a letter to santa. They also have a train ride in a steam powered train past light displays. A great hit with kids on the train. They do have a wagon you can take to see the town if you need it.

We have been going to the Ladies Night Out for a few years now. This year there were a lot of little children. I thought this was a ladies getaway. It was very crowded as is but with all the children and men (yes men came to this Ladies Night Out). It just wasn't as enjoyable as other years. Too crowded for me. Will have to think about going next time. An I do love the little ones just not when it is so crowded at a Ladies Night. An I don't see what men get out of coming.

Love this place. Do not live very far from it, so it is usually a regular stop when family comes to town. Ghosts and Goodies is a great Halloween trip with the grandkids. A yearly excursion as well as the Christmas season! Always know when summer season starts when we hear the whistle from the old train. Wonderful old village setting.

An era of yesterday so nicely recreated awaits all. While the reconstructed buildings are fun/interesting to visit....the train ride of course is the highlight! The Christmas lights make for the perfect family gathering or romantic date night regardless of age.

Bigger than I thought it. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Educational and entertaining at the same time. The train ride was a great ending to our visit. The only downfall was the hours, it closed at 5 during the summer

We have been there about 4 times would go every year we had a chance it is something that you want your family to see especially the kids to see how everything in the old times wood be. We have been there at Christmas then there at Halloween I would go anytime of the year

This historic village is an interesting visit. Master gardners keep it beautiful in spring, summer and fall and it is a festival of lights during the Christmas season. Tour the old buildings and ride the steam train.

very unique for a wedding but hottest day of the summer, reception with air within walking distance of chapel

A nice choice year 'round! Enjoy a fine 45 minute train ride behind what once was a working steam engine out in Colorado! Historic buildings. Make sure you take this place in during Christmas! Train runs complete with a caboose to ride in too! Lots of photo opportunities as well! Put this on your "to do" list.

Had a nice train ride of about 40 minutrs. Walked the village and enjoyed the old homes and buildings. Everything was decorated for Christmas with lights everywhere and Christmas music playing throughout the town. Very well done and a fun place to take a 7 year old. I highly recommend it for family and visitors from out of town.

Wonderful place to step back in history. Fun for the whole family. I especially like the Halloween season and Christmas season, it is so beautiful at that time. Don't miss it.

We attended with another couple and 4 young children and they loved the Halloween set up with trick or treating and whatnot. Great little train ride too.
I've only ever been for this event but for sure would come back for it! Great little gem in the area.

Great place to visit around Christmas time for the holiday light displays. Don't miss the trip on the old steam train and the antique

We've been here before for the historical attractions here in previous years and enjoyed it, however this time was for a wedding reception. It turned out beautifully and the service and food was great. Being here for a reception was well over what I expected as it was perfect.

Train ride through the lights is fun. If you get on the first train, the way out is still daylight, and way back is dark. Lots of lights in the village, with vendors, Santa, craftsmen, school house, old amusement rides, etc. A fun way to do some Christmas fun.

We traveled to CVHR with a party of 15 for a Christmas Birthday present for my mother in law.
The Good
- The decorations were magical for young children and pretty for adults especially this one tree that was wrapped every single branch with thousands and thousands of lights they said takes 6 months to put on every year.
- The village buildings were quaint, because of timing and cold, we really only had time for a couple buildings, but looked like something Id like to see again.
- The carriage roads in the village made it feel like you had stepped back in time and made for a nice stroll despite the cold
- The train ride was a bit shorter than I had hoped but it was entertaining for the kids and the Christmas carols played and sung by all added to the festive environment.
- Train basically goes one long path out, loops around a circle and then returns the same tracks it left on, so either side of the train will get to see 80% of all the light displays (the exception being on the 2 circle turn arounds.
The Bad
- The parking options were not well marked, made it hard to identify truely where you parked and was not the easiest to traverse back to the vehicle after, especially in the dark.
- The dining area was dark, dingy and cold, felt like a bad old school cafeteria.
The Ugly
- The food in the sit-down buffet was horrible and certainly not worth the $100+ my family paid. First you are herded into tables of a never-ending elbow to elbow people, making it hard to get through the aisle without bumping or tripping over a dozen people. Food selection was horrible unless you were a 3 year old. Cold food, poor selection and a buffet setup that looks worse than a school cafeteria. It was like a temporary set up which likely added to the inability to keep the food hot. Drinks were a separate table area where the milk and drinks were not kept on ice, just sat out like someones potluck dinner. The only decent thing there was the blueberry cobbler and ice cream which is pretty hard to screw up.
The Verdict
- If you have young kids that have never been on a train and want a magical experience, then the train is worth it. Have adults that want to stroll and see the lights and old buildings, then it is worth it. Eat before or after you go there though, that was the worst part.

I really didn't think much of the village, but the railroad train is fun for the kids. We've done several Christmas trains runs, a Thomas run and an ordinary run. All were fun. The Christmas train run is magical and runs in the evening with many Christmas lights along the track on the ride. Definitely a must. Enjoy the ride, but don't expect too much of the village. Its a bit run down in places.

A great place to spend an afternoon or evening. Great for kids and adults alike. It's got lots of historic buildings with people dressed in authentic clothing there to show you how things were years ago. A great learning experience especially if you like the past. There is an old carousel as well as a room full of a an train set that completely fills up. The place is beautiful around Christmas with lots of lights and a play in the old theater of the Christmas Carol. Spend an afternoon here and you won't regret it.

Staff on every level friendly and cheerful. Extremely clean grounds and cared for.
Fun experience.
The train is beautiful and historic.

If your into trains then this is the place to go. The rest is a good collection of old buildings set well in a park. The price of admission is well worth it. Fun for the entire family. The train ride was one of the best we have taken. We were there during an Indian gathering and the arts and crafts were fascinating to see and watch. Easily worth the membership too.

Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad is for me a hidden gem within the Genessee county park system. This living history museum is full of buildings that have been brought in from all over & arranged in a way that this really could be a frontier town anywhere in the last 19th century. The people in the buildings where things are located are extremely friendly & knowledgeable which helps & even the blacksmith shop gave me a free demonstration on something that took very little time. The Huckleberry Railroad is a nice 40 minute ride that takes you on a loop along Mott Lake & then back with some of the history of that area included which adds to it. Granted the ride can be a bit rough, but it still doesn't take away from the nostalgia of this place which also has 3 carnival rides as well as a boat ride on the Genessee Belle which I'll try to get back to on a future visit. Pricing is beyond inexpensive & this is definitely a place for the entire family that is worth visiting in any season.

We took our 2 grandsons here (ages 9 & 11). Overall, we had a good time. Staff was very nice. The boys loved the Toy Barn & had a blast trying to walk on stilts. The show at the Opera house was ok, but the one they used to have with the magician was better. Be aware that your admission price does not include the carousel, ferris wheel, or any of the kid's rides in one part of the park. The boat wasn't running when we were there. We were disappointed in that.

Always a good light show on the Christmas train. Buy your tickets early they sell out fast! Good time for all ages.

This is a typical village style museum with several operation displays such as sawmill, steam train, paddle wheel boat, apple cider mill, tinsmith, printing press, grist mill, wooden toy shop, blacksmith, plus farm animals, old fashioned rides and several stores. Stay away from the Lakeside Grill. The unmotivated man working there said there is usually only one person both taking orders and doing the cooking. It took over 30 minutes to get hamburgers that were pre-cooked. You should make reservations for the train and boat rides. They both are well worth the extra $3 each.

I love going here during the Christmas season. I take my grandchildren and they enjoy the train ride and the show. Actually they enjoy the whole experience. It's usually cold and we get a cup of delicious hot chocolate.

This is a well-run park set up as an early historical village with a number of buildings from the Flint area. They have special attractions for families during seasons like Halloween and Christmas. There is a very fast fun-filled carousel and the operator gives you a long ride. Visitors can buy either just an entance ticket or select one to ride the Huckleberry Railroad, and /or the Genesee Belle Boat ride. At this time the buildings and grounds are set up for Halloween. Come early if you want to ride the train because those tickets go quickly and are sold for different time periods.
The only negative is that they need to improve their signage at the entrance to the ticket booths. Visitors approach the entrance from parking lots from two directions but then often get in the wrong line! They may get in the "Reservation Ticket" only line, and then have to move way over in the other line at a different ticket window. They have signs, however they are at the wrong height (at the bottom of "candy corn" pictures), and in a small font, and blocked by people waiting in line. They should be at a higher elevation, larger word size, and on the parking lot size of the walks so they are not blocked by people waiting in line. During busy times they could have "guides" near the entrances telling visitors where to go.

A fun place for the whole family. Love the train ride.. Lots to see and do. A must go to place for all.

we always go here for Christmas and Halloween..Never miss it is so much fun... Kids Love it!!! Love the train and the rides. In fact It is so much fun for the whole family like a little cozy town back in time..Prices are good to.

Stopped here on a whim. We were pleasantly surprised. This is a small village that is full of history! For the price of the ticket it came with a train ride that was very interesting and full of information. I would go again!

We went here during the winter and although really cold it was lots of fun for the little ones. Our children especially enjoyed the train ride that I also enjoyed as a child.

One of the best history attractions in Michigan. One of the few places in Michigan where you can still see a working steam locomotive. Love the special events such as Christmas at Crossroads, etc.

Our family loves Crossroads Village, it's a great step back in time and a great learning experience as well. The Huckleberry Railroad is a unique chance to see what train travel was like "back in the day" and you can just imagine being in the 1800's and rolling down those tracks. The views from the Railroad are spectacular! I especially like Holidays at Crossroads, the Halloween and Christmas specials are so much fun, though it does get super crowded at Christmas so be prepared. Only a couple negatives for me, it's a bit pricey in my opinion, I wish they could lower the price a little, especially for families. The only other negative experience I've had is at Christmas time they would not let us reserve a table for the Christmas buffet so we were not able to take part in that which was a disappointment - especially after we got there and were asked if we had a reservation! Maybe a little better staff training is in order. But otherwise a great place to visit and I highly recommend it!

Very nice place. Old historical buildings with demonstrations and displays of the past (turn of the century) printing press, doctors house, church, single family homes, ice house, ect. Done very nice. Great family experience.

It has been several years since a friend and I had visited Crossroads Village. We made the trek here on a Saturday in August. This park is a living, history museum. Over 30 buildings have been moved here from original locations around the area. Staff members are dressed in costumes appropriate for the 1800's, and many of them demonstrate the job that would have been done at the different businesses. Staff is very knowledgeable about the history of the buildings and the era they represent.
The Huckleberry Railroad and the boat ride in the lake will give patrons a great idea of of layout of the park. Those experiencing the railroad will certainly get a feel for what it was like to travel back in the 1800's.
Also part of the park are five rides. The carousel and Ferris wheel were made by the Parker Company, and they are very rare. The Venetians swings, in which riders have to pull on ropes in order for the swing to move, are also located here. These are one of two left at amusement parks across the country.
There are many things to do, and the gift shops have some great souvenirs. The staff was very friendly. The only drawback on this trip was that the food stands ran out of hamburger buns at the beginning of the day. Really? How did you manage that?

I've been coming here for 20 Years. The carousel is beautiful. The property is amazing to stroll around. It's great for all ages.

I love love LOVE Crossroads Village. A great family fun day adventure awaits you. They sometimes have shows in the opera house. I saw Mikado by the Kearsley Park Players and it was such an amazing experience.

It takes you back in time and makes you feel like you are in a different world. So much to see. So much to learn!! Everyone is SO friendly! Older rides like a carousel and train ride, swings and a ferris wheel. Loved every second! The boat ride and train ride were amazing!! Highly recommend this place!

we go every year at christmas and halloween. we always ride the train on both events. we love the christmas lights and the kids love the trick or treating.

Great place with enough things to do and enough events to warrant a yearly pass. It's a little too costly to go here with a family for a one time trip. It's definitely worth the visit but you'd be better off getting an annual pass as it isn't that much more and you get access to multiple visits, all of the rides (boat, train) as well as their events (Halloween, Christmas, etc.) which are well worth it. My wife and kids and their grandparents will visit this place around 3-4 times a year. The train is great, the boat is good, and they have inexpensive attractions like the Ferris wheel and Carousel which are also good. There is a good amount of shops and buildings to see and the visit is typically pretty interactive and not limited to walking around and looking at stuff. This is a good family place to visit for both kids and adults and I would highly recommend.

My whole family enjoys this place! We love the old village shopping & exploring! We also enjoy riding the train, taking a boat ride, going on the Ferris wheel and riding Carasol together! The theater also provides great entertainment with a free show . We like to pack a lunch and spend the day here during the summer. There's a nice covered outdoor pavilion to enjoy your food. They do sell snacks and drinks as well. You can trick-or-treat through the village during the month of October. They decorate the village beautifully during the Christmas season & they offer days and times to drive you car through during the evening. It really worth a visit.

Crossroads village is a look back to a simpler time. Historic buildings, a train that really was used back in those days plus demonstrations of the way things were done. There is also a carousel-beautifully restored and authentic as well. My grandchildren loved it. They enjoyed everything about this wonderful place. The staff love their jobs and are very knowledgeable. They love to tell you all about their village. We are hoping to go back at Christmas. It promises to be another fun filled family experience.

Perfect day trip with the family. Cement dams are impressive along with the nature walks. The village is great for everyone, plan on spending a considerable amount of time

Great for getting into the Holiday spirit. Whole village is lit up! Character actors, historic buildings, carousel house, shopping, roasted nuts, kettle corn...dinner available (reservation required for holidays) as well as a train ride to see lit up displays for the holidays (if going for Halloween or Christmas, I suggest a train reservation - and that's an add on cost as well). On non-holiday trip, it's still very educational. True historic buildings have been moved to the location. This is our 3rd year for Christmas, was our second for Halloween...an once for Thomas. The nephews (5 & 2 yrs) love it. My sister plans the family outing and books everything at once. Best plan if going in a group.

This is a must see at Christmas time. The village is decorated and every one likes the train ride.
Halloween is also one of my favorite times to go

IN A NUTSHELL:
Pros: lots to learn about area history, fun for everybody with plenty to see and look at, great train and boat rides, wonderful Christmas decorations, good selection of gifts
Cons: admission is a bit pricey, not in the best area of the county
Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad is a great place to spend a day with friends and family. They have lots to see here, and the park has plenty to offer for kids and adults alike. It is a wonderful way to learn about the local history of the Great Lakes state.
Admission is somewhat expensive, and runs right around $10-16 per adult and $8-12 per child depending on the season and time of year. Visitors have several options for purchasing tickets; they offer village-only tickets, village-and-boat or village-and-train combo tickets, and even deluxe tickets that contain the entire package (village, boat, and train all included). However, they are limited as to the number of each type of ticket they can sell per day, so if you are looking for a particular ticket, I would suggest checking the Genesee County Parks website to see if it is available.
They have plenty to check out in the main area of the village alone. First, they have a couple of gift shops, which have a decent selection of toys and antique goods. Also, in the opera house, guests can sit back and watch shows and plays (especially during Christmas time) in an old-fashioned environment. Other antique buildings to take a look at on the main street of town include a barber shop, bank, and dentist; all of the buildings have been well-preserved and well-maintained for their age, and give visitors an idea of how people lived back in the old days.
Crossroads Village has many other vintage buildings to observe along its outlying streets. Examples include an antique cider mill and ice house, a blacksmith’s shop, an old church and school, and numerous old-fashioned family homes. Towards the back part of the park, they have an indoor antique carousel that plays music (which operates year-round), as well as a couple of fairground-style rides for the kids (which are open only during certain parts of the year).
The boat and train rides are perhaps the best things about the park. The Genesee Belle is a paddlewheeler (or steamer) that carries passengers across neighboring Mott Lake, and is accessible from the back end of the village by the carousel. Plus, the Huckleberry Railroad's steam-powered train transports visitors through a three to four mile stretch of the surrounding parks. The train’s coaches date back to the 1800s, and have a Western-style theme to them with old-fashioned leather seats and unique windows and lighting. The conductor also keeps guests entertained throughout the ride by playing classic music over the speakers, and occasionally talks to passengers about the history of the area and tells them what to look for while traveling down the tracks.
If there is a decent time to visit Crossroads Village, it is during the Christmas season. They put on quite a nice Christmas light show, and have almost everything in the village decorated with lights, even the train. Another ideal time to go is around Halloween; it has been a long time since I last went for this, but I recall them holding a trick-or-treat event where children could go around the park and fill up their candy bags with goodies.
The only significant downside that I have with the park is the location. It is not far from some of Flint’s roughest neighborhoods, and is about a half mile from a dirty power plant and industrial district. Nevertheless, it is still a fun place to be, and is a great local getaway for families. Enjoy your time here, and be sure to bring a camera and take plenty of pictures!

Where else can famiies go trick-or-treatin in a safe environment? There are twenty buildings to vsit, including a great theatrical show, a haunted train ride which is a must, and tehn a real treatat the end--doughnuts and cider or coffee. I love this place!

I went with my second grade on a school field trip and the adult enjoyed this more than the kids. The train ride was fun but the demonstrations & talks were over their heads except for the magic show.

We take the kids every Christmas to see how they do the lights and it takes you back to a simpler time its a great place to visit. It's not just Christmas in the summer it's a wonderful living museum of days gone by.

During an unseasonably warm December weekend we decided to visit Crossroads Village & Huckleberry RR for their holiday train ride & activities. Of the many winter train rides in the Detroit area I felt this was the best for our money and time. I also liked that we would be able to see the village on our own time table. With two small children, we booked tickets online for the 3:20 train. The confirmation email included a lot of info including helpful directions. Our visit was SO enjoyable. As it was the first train of the day we had hardly any line to pick up our tickets. There was stroller parking on the platform and staff moved the strollers so we could pick them up at the other end of the platform after we exited the train. There were lots of train displays to see during the ride as well as commentary and lots of holiday music. My kids loved the "Snoopy Song" (Snoopy vs the Red Barron of course). The RR crossing in the town of Genesee was lovely and included a huge nativity display from the local churches. It is nice to see the town supporting the park & it's activities. The train ride was about 40minutes round trip as described.
Our tickets included a visit in the Village. We enjoyed some yummy kettle corn, a stop in the train themed gift shop (the buyer for this has carefully chosen them items here - loved the golden books & the free thomas the train themed bookmarks) and walked around. All in all we spent just over 2 hours at both the train & village and were so pleased with our visit. Traffic had picked up as we left and there was quite the line waiting to pick up tickets.
I hope to make Crossroads Village & Huckleberry RR an annual Christmas event for us and do plan on coming back again in the Spring or Summer.

Crosroads Village is a great place to visit - all of the historic buildings that have been moved there are quite interesting. We saw a wonderful musical show there, The Mikado, in the Opera House which is charming.

This is a place where you can feel like a child. The exhibits are interesting. They have art projects for the young ones at the schoolhouse. The old merry-go-round was fun to watch and priced well. The playhouse was great. The finishing touch was the train ride. It is a good place to spend an evening.

This village is exciting to those who like the old days and is very educational about the history in this area. scenic train rides and boat rides. a very pleasant way to spend a day...

Visiting Crossroads is like stepping in time. I have taken my family here for years. In the winter after Thanksgiving, to see the Christmas special lights, shops and the volunteers in the early American clothing.
Checking their website one can find all the special events going on through the year.
If one is in the area, I suggest a visit, especially with children. Be sure to order tickets for the train so you can be sure to get the time you want prior

It is like stepping into the town of Little House on the Prairie. you and you family can see first hand how life felt for the early settlers.

Visited for the first time in 30 years. Like a trip back in time. The staff was very interactive and kept to character; very knowledgeable. Not very crowded in late morning/ early afternoon. Definitely ride the Huckleberry Railroad and the Genesee Belle on Mott Lake.
Food/refreshments were a bit tough because the cafes were understaffed but the service at the cafe near the boat launch...much better. Great visit for adults and children; tweets/teens may not enjoy as much.
What a fantastic asset for the Flint area!!!

this village consists of about 35 buildings that were moved here when it was discovered that a large amount of the areas historical buildings were being wrecked to make way for roads & development. These building have been laid out in a village, fitted out with their occupation furnishing & equipment, plus staffed by guides in period dress. Buildings include a grist mill, cider mill, saw mill, ice shed, church, barber shop, blacksmiths & barns. There is also an old carousel & ferris wheel that give rides to kids. There is a paddle steamer & a train for rides. The staff were all very friendly & informative & conducted demonstrations of their trades. The train ride took about 40 minutes on a loop through the country. There was a café serving drinks, ice creams & light meals. It was an interesting experience & I would recommend setting aside at least 4 hours for a visit.

Took my four grandchildren to huckleberry railroad crossroads village, ages 8,3,2 + 1, even with the ranges in age each child had a blast. They love the train of course, but I feel the conductor an engineer went the extra mile by talking to them, waving to them, and just making them feel as if they were part of the experience. I have gone to this place nearly every year since i was a child and doing it through my grandchildren's eyes made the experience even much more exhilarating. Young or old you really need to visit this place, just walking around seeing the old buildings talking to the workers and riding the train makes you feel like a child again!

I went with my brother and nephew today. In addition to all of the regular attractions of CROSSROADS VILLAGE, they were hosting an antique car show this weekend which added to the overall enjoyment. It has been years since I was last here and it is as good as I remember.
The village is comprised of several old buildings which were moved and reconstructed/refurbished here. They have a main street and several side streets with various structures such as a barber shop, school, barns, photography studio, hotel, private homes, etc. It really is like stepping back in time.
We especially enjoyed visiting the Attica Hotel as relatives of ours once owned/managed it while it was in Attica, Michigan before being brought to CROSSROADS VILLAGE.
In addition to the various buildings, a steam engine train operates daily, as well as a paddle wheel boat. Each is relaxing and enjoyable. There is a separate fee for each of these attractions. The facility also offers a ferris wheel and carousel. In addition, there are farm animals for children to pet.
The entire facility is staffed by personnel very knowledgeable in the history of the buildings. Many places in the village have actual working craftspersons such as blacksmiths, glassmakers, printing press operators, broom makers, etc.
As others have written, CROSSROADS VILLAGE is magical at Halloween and Christmas when it is decorated for each holiday.

We have been going to Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad since my grandchildren were very young and now as adults, the still go with their parents and grandparents every year. It is a family tradition every year to trick or treat in the Village, see the Magic Show, take lots of photos, eat donuts and drink cider and to ride the Huckleberry Train every year. Making memories that will last forever.

Visited this place a couple of times. Our youngest son loves trains and he absolutely loved the train ride. We went back for the Halloween Trick or Treating special that they had and both of our young kids loved it. It's not a bad place for adults either, it is a bit on the small size (think a smaller Greenfield Village), but it is quaint and very clean. If you have little ones that like trains, it is well worth the trip.

Love the place. Interesting history. Nice replicas of 1800's buildings. Love to ride the coal powered train. Love the shops. Best times to visit Halloween and Christmas. Village is decorated for the occasion. They've even had weddings there.

This is a very very cool place to bring your family. The employees are super friendly and love teaching the littles about the small village. The magic show if really cool too.

A fantastic family adventure on an authentic steam engine listening to the clicking of the tracks the wind and smoke on your face a must for your bucket list I would recommend safety glasses or wrap around sunglasses because there is water and Saunders hitting you but it's not painful and only randomly

My husband and I just visited Crossroads and Huckleberry Railroad for the first time yesterday (October 27, 2013) to celebrated our 8 year anniversary. I was very impressed with everything they had to offer for the kids and the child in all of us adults! The price is right for sure. $16.00 each got us (train ride / a 2 layered boat ride with heated bottom floor which was perfect for a cool day / magic show / 19 stations to trick or treat and the 20th station was 1 doughnut and a cup of cider per person). There are gift shops and a station that sells "German" popcorn and roasted nuts.

Take your toddlers and enjoy the beautiful grounds. The train ride is especially memorable at holidays.

Crossroads Village is a living time capsule - a town-sized museum of the past, comprised of buildings that are mainly 100 years old or older. The Carousel is the obvious attraction for young ones, along with a Ferris Wheel and Venetian Swings. There's an old chapel, a schoolhouse, a train depot, a barn, an opera house, a drug store, a barber shop, a warehouse, a mill, and other buildings as well.
They often feature events in addition to their regular attractions, and Christmas at Crossroads is always a very special time in my family's year.

The village has several old buildings that have been restored to their original splendor. The opera house is really a nice addition. You can purchase merschandise in several of the stores. There is snack type food available for purchase. At Christmas, the place is covered in beautiful Christmas lights. The opera house has a 20 minute play.
Huckleberry Railroad is a 40 minute train ride on a vintage train. It goes thru town, near the lake and thru the woods. The train is heated and comfortable. You will see many Christmas lights from the train, also.
Staff was friendly, on the phone as well as in person. Getting tickets online is very easy and convenient.
Highly recommend a visit during Christmas and summer!

made inpression on my kids old steam train woodworking very educational does not cost alot of money and very enjoyable

Love the Halloween Ghost train. Fun Halloween decorations for all. It can be corny for the bigger kids but still lots of fun.

Traveling from Detroit to Traverse City we just found this place on a trip advisor search. What a gem! We all enjoyed the village, the friendly people there and a lovely late afternoon train ride. Genesee County should be commended for a wonderful historic park!

I heard of this place from someone at work. So, I took my grandkids there. We loved it! Just an awesome place for the kids. They loved it too. We did not get to see everything that day so we will be going back. I recommend this place for, well, everyone. We rode the train. I saw some shops but I knew my grandkids would annoy me in there so I may hit those next time.

We went here for the Thomas the Train event. It was so much fun! We have been going for the last few years, my son loves trains. It was $22 per person (lap babies are free) but I found a discount code online that brought the price down to $20. That includes admission to Crossroads Village, the ride on the train (an engine that looks just like Thomas pulls you!) as well as all the Thomas activities. They have bounce houses, temporary tattoos, train tables, sand tables, hay maze....tons of stuff! There are also a few rides, a carousel and ferris wheel and things like that. Those are an extra charge.
We also go here for their Halloween trick or treating and fall train ride. Really anytime you go is so much fun for adults and kids too!!

Took our daughter's family to the Village for the train ride, stayed for the concert in the park. We all enjoyed both.

I love to visit Crossroads Village around the Christmas holiday season. The entire staff is so friendly and really makes me feel like I have actually stepped back in time to experience life the way it was.
I love to ride the Steam locomotive train or ride the horse drawn sleigh. The Opera House is a must see when there is a play or musical set going on live.
Great value for the ticket price.

We saw Thomas the train and went on the train ride. It was very enjoyable even for the 2 year old Walked around the village and small shops. Events for the kids with some included in admission price. Very enjoyable for all

Attended wedding at the park Chapel. It was a great location, and a fun experience. Had the park all to ourselves.
It's a really cool historical place with old buildings that have been relocated to the site. Train rides, excursion boat, carousel, and ferris wheel.
Learn about history, and have a great day.

Crossroads Village is a hidden gem. They do a great job decorating for the holidays, and you can’t go wrong with the train ride. Well worth the trip.

While visiting Crossroads Village / Huckleberry Railroad I met David O'Neill. He was riding his solar powered bicycle across the USA.
David grew up with the village carousel when it was located in Riverside California so he made a special side trip on his solar bike to see it here at Crossroads Village.
You can see David's journey and follow him on Instagram and Facebook.
Just search "David's Solar Journey".
Good Luck David, I hope you make it to New York
Here are some photos taken at the entrance to the village.

Crossroads is a great place to take the family. You can go for a couple hours or make a day of it. The younger kids really have a good time and they even get to learn a little bit while having fun.
Crossroads Village was a 2 or 3 times-a-year stop with our kids when they were young (2-10) and now our grandkids are enjoying it with us. A ride on the Huckleberry Railroad is a must! It is a genuine old railroad train that the kids (and adults) are crazy about. An, if you can only make one visit in a year, the Village at Christmas is something you should not miss. It is beautiful! The "cast and crew" are wonderful and all the kids (young and old) have a great time.

The Huckleberry Railroad is a special place to take your grand kids. Witness the joy in their eyes as the railroad trundles along the tracks. It is wonderful family fun for all ages, but especially for the younger children. They will love it.

Went on the last night. Had a good time, train ride is fun. The play was good as always. It was cold and some rain, turning to snow. We also got a good deal on flour and pancake mix at the General store. When you go after Christmas the crowds are much smaller.

This place is amazing for all ages. Our favorite was the railroad, can't believe it was only $3 to ride! Since it was warm out, we road in the open cars and it was so nice and cool and relaxing. The steam boat was the same - a nice rest after the historic carousel, Ferris wheel, venetian boat swings. For kids only there is a flyer train ride and a horse and cart ride. The farm animals were so cute and healthy looking. It was fun to see the blacksmith at work, and the school, and a cabin, and the toy shop. Our 2 year neice old LOVED it. The gift shops are fun, especially the train one. And great ice cream cones!!

My family went to the Halloween event yesterday. It was 10 of us total. The ages ranged from 2 years up to 62 years old. The tickets were $16 for the train/village ticket for anyone 13 months and older. I purchased the tickets in advance off the website. Parking was free. When we arrived we parked and were able to walk all right up to the ticket booth and I gave my name and we went right in. There were multiple stops for the kids to get candy one stop even gave out an apple. The kids were so excited to see all the different Halloween decorations all over the village. All the workers had on nice costumes and were very friendly. Everyone enjoyed the complimentary donuts and apple cider. They were other things for sale like pizza, soda and hot cocoa. The train ride was nice it was about 40 minutes long. There were plenty of Halloween decorations to look at as we enjoyed the ride. This was all of our first time there but we will definitely be back!

Our family enjoy the Halloween activities here every year. Decorations are awesome. Wonderful treat passers. Great train ride with wonderful decorations.

We love historical villages and this one was absolutely delightful. They had great demonstrations from friendly artisans in period clothing. Many of them I had not seen before from visiting many other similar places. The train ride was on a steam train and one of the best - included for only a few dollars more than admission. Just a lovely afternoon spent here. Very family friendly.

That is a good place to spend holiday time for you and your children. Railroad was super. It bring you back to early 20 century. Very happy and enjoyable.

We love any excuse to come to Crossroads village and Huckleberry RR. Our 2 favorite times of year are Halloween and Christmas! The Halloween is especially fun because they go all out in decorations throughout the entire train ride and in every part and building of the village. I highly recommend this family friendly to all families with all children of all ages. It is so fun! Everyone gets candy at every post and everyone gets cider and donuts at the end! So fun! We have made it a tradition for our family. A couple tips: go as early in the season as you are able, less people and warmer weather - it is all outdoors excepts walking through the shops and buildings or on the train ride. With younger kids go early so the sun is still out it is less spooky.
Have fun!

This is truly a step back into the past. I love going to this place, spring through fall. It is great fun for the kids and great to step back and remember the old days. I grew up in a town very similar to Crossroads Village.

We spent some time here during a week long road trip around Lake Michigan and I must say it was one of the highlights of our trip. Make sure you arrive in the morning so you can get to see all the demonstrations such as the steam saw mill and cider press as these do not all run throughout the day. There are lots of costumed guides, full of enthusiasm to give an insight into life in the 1800's. One of the good things is it looks authentic not all spruced up. The steam train ride although only 40 minutes is good even if you are not railway fan and there are few narrow gauge steam lines in the USA. There is not a great deal to see along the track but who can resist the clanging bell and hoot of the train whistle as pounds along. We sat in the front coach and had a full run down on its operations from the conductor. During the day we were entertained by a local folk group who popped up at various venues around the village. The general store has ice cream (huge scoops), hot dogs and beverages all at very reasonable prices. I must say everyone we spoke to was most helpful, knowledgable and friendly and I am sure it was not just because we were visitors from England.
Do try and get to spend the day at this very enjoyable attraction but make sure you check out their website to see what is on before you make the trip.

Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad is a fun little day trip. It's not very big (compared to Greenfield Village in Dearborn) but it's great to check out. Their holiday events are a lot of fun for grownups and kids alike. Totally worth checking out.

We enjoyed our visits here. The village is a bit limited but the various shops are interesting. The train is the highlight and feels just old-timey enough to be fun.

Crossroads Village is a project preserving Genesee County Buildings (and Railroad Equipment) from the mid to late 1800s that was created for the US Bicentennial in 1976. At Christmas, the village is well decorated with decorations and lights and creates a festive holiday spirit. (From our 2015 visit, the facility has made lots of investments in updating and improving lighting displays and it appeared all of them were in outstanding condition!)
Many of the buildings are open to tour and the old one room schoolhouse includes a holiday craft station for the kids. The $13 combo ticket (village tour and train ride) is highly recommended, as the 40 minute train ride passes many lighted holiday displays and a bit of holiday humor from the train conductor.
Travel Hint: Since most of this attraction is outdoors, make sure you dress appropriately for the evening's weather forecast!

We went to Crossroads Village Sunday night because we hadn't been there in a very long time - well not at Christmas anyway. Wow! So much has been added and enhanced! We strolled all over the village and stopped in every house and attraction there. We even stood to watch the wonderful Parker Carousel inside it's toasty enclosure. It's so beautiful.
Our favorite stop was a 1850s house decorated with Victorian trimmings and smelling of fresh baked cookies coming from a live fire oven I remember my grandmother using!
We also were very intrigued by the doctor's office - a civil war doctor whose surgical and other medical tools were all displayed.
Finally, we felt the need for hot chocolate and a trip to the TREE of lights!
The only disappointment for us was not being able to get tickets for the Christmas train ride - it was sold out! We'll plan better next time to include that for sure!

We travelled from St. Clair Shores, Michigan to the Crossroads Village andf Huckleberry Railroad. It took about an hour. It is near Flint. Our 8-year old twin grandchildren loved the train ride and the comments and jokes the conductor told. The train is old , but refurbished and in good condition. It is a 40 minute ride. The train and town are reminiscent of old cowboy movies, so it is enjoyed by many adults. The village consists of about 8 old buildings, three of which sell items and/or food. The bank and barber shop are for viewing and are good for teaching some history. The trip is a nice short getaway that you can pace yourself. We did attend the "Magic Show" and found the kids loved and participated in. Lots of learning chances.

We went at Christmas time and it was definitely worth the drive. So beautiful with all the lights and Christmas music playing! The historical buildings were beautiful and the people working in them were friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed learning some of the history from that area. Unfortunately, we did not get to ride the train because we didn't realize we had to reserve a ticket. We also didn't know the Village didn't open till 4pm. (the moral of the story is to read allll the details when planning a trip, lol) It didn't really matter though because the trip was fun and we plan to go back for the train ride. Would definitely recommend Crossroads Village!

We didn't plan for the amount of time it would take to get through this village. We only had a chance to take the walking tour, but there is a railroad and boat tour as well. It was a quiet Wednesday so a lot of one on one with the people here. We arrived at 330 and it closes at 5. So we managed to see almost all the homes and businesses. Made flour, sampled Apple cider watched a nail being made. The adults in our group enjoyed it my teens not so much, I think it's just hard for them to relate.
Halloween And Christmas is supposed to be amazing here! Would love to go back and see the decorations!

I paid the resendents were free so crowded couldn't get near any thing direcitor said we paid so the residents could get in free I drove 2 1/2 hours wasted my time don't be stupid like me this place is not worth it

We spent a very pleasant 3 hours doing the train ride and exploring. A wonderful place to take the kids to see what life was like 100 years and more ago. The people doing the demonstrations corn mill, (blacksmith, apple press, etc.) were very friendly and informative, as well as the guides in the buildings.
The signage on the way there is practically non-existent, so be sure you have a good idea on how to find it. This little gem should be advertised more. We just happened upon it looking online.

Love this place ! Has so much to do and for every season. The kids love it here and so much to see. I highly recommend to bring family and friends.

Our family finally had the opportunity to go to the Huckleberry Railroad and Crossroads village this summer. We discovered the railroad after seeing a short YouTube video and decided to go when we realized how close it was. The day that we went was not very busy ( which was great) because we were able to talk with the railway staff about the railroad and the village. Everyone here were so friendly and very knowledgeable about the History of the train and the Village. My sons loved the train ride and exploring the village. They especially enjoyed the gift shop where they were allowed to play with all of the toy trains before picking one out to take home. We liked it so much we bought a membership for the year which allowed us a visit to the Village and ride the Ghost train for Halloween and unlimited visits to the village for the Christmas train along with other visits throughout the year.
We did take advantage of the Ghost train and village experience for Halloween and had a lot of fun! The boys wore their costumes on the train, then went trick or treating in the village afterwards and had a blast. At the last trick or treat station we got to sample and old fashioned doughnut and some apple cider! We cannot wait to go on the Christmas train in December!

Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad are filled with buildings and houses from Early American History and occupants in costume that will take you through what life was like in those days. The Village is open from May 24-September 1. After that they have some days set up exclusively for Halloween and Christmas. The cost is $10 per person. The village is essentially set up much like Greenfield Village in Dearborn, but much less expensive. They have a limited menu for food that you can purchase- you can bring in your own food and there are many picnic areas throughout the village. They have gift shops but you won't find much of anything memorable with a logo of the Village or Railroad. Years ago they used to sell a variety of Early American style wooden toys and crafts but that has been mostly replaced with cheap Made-in-China plastic toys. They do have some rides that will cost you extra so be prepared. Overall it is an inexpensive place to take the family and still learn a lot about history. Take in the train ride for an authentic feel of how they used to travel from place to place.

A wonderful opportunity to explore the buildings and crafts of a bygone era. Very friendly and enthusiastic staff who assume the roles of residents in this town. Knowledgable and very willing to educate. Very pleasant train ride for a small extra fee. We spent 4 hours and could have spent longer except that it was a very hot day and most buildings are not air conditioned. The price is very reasonable. Kudos to the county for supporting this very worthy venture! Highly recommend!

Excellent day for all. Two families were surprised at how much there was to do and see. Plan a whole day; bring a picnic. Many shades picnic areas. Lots of trash receptacles make for a clean environment. Carousel, train ride, magic show, broom shop, little farm, toy barn, and so much more. Friendly, knowledgeable, passionate staff. Gardens, cared for by local Master Gardener Society, are glorious!

If you are looking for something to do during Christmas season with your family, Take them to Crossroads Village and see the breathtaking Christmas displays and the millions of lights. Definitely something to talk about for years to come.

We have been visiting Crossroads Village since our children where infants, and the youngest is now almost 24.
It is a great place to help teach kids about life in earlier times in a way that this fun for them.
Depending on when you visit, there are many different activities and events occurring.
We always tried to go close to Halloween as they had Trick or Treating and a Haunted Train Ride which we all enjoyed.
Don't pass up the Steam Train ride or the Carousel as both are great icons of an era past.

Just came from viewing the Christmas lights at Crossroads Village. Monday nights for 5.00 a car load. Beautiful, this is a annual trip my husband and I love taking. It wouldn't be Christmas without driving through and seeing how they've decorated. Things change from year to year and its always beautiful. If you haven't made the trip then you're missing out. It's well worth it. Best 5.00 I've spent all year. It's amazing, can't imagine how many people it takes to put all those lights up and do it perfectly. Thank you.

Two women traveling with two small children (ages 4 and 6). This was an enjoyable day and more to do than I expected. Lots of period places to visit (blacksmith, cider house, school house, barber shop, etc). The train was very nice and better than I expected having been on a few "historical" train rides. We were allowed to sit up in the caboose seats which thrilled the kids. Everyone working there was very nice and welcoming. The train conducter even insisting on more pictures than we had planned to take of the kids on the train. A couple places to purchase somewhat reasonably priced modern food (cheeseburger, hot dog, grilled cheese, etc) and ice-cream. Plan to stay for the day - there is plenty to do.

Great place to back in time. Great fun for young and old alike. Food games train and a boat ride.Fun

The kids are older but we still make an annual trip to the park. The kids like to ride the train, Ferris wheel, and the carousel. We like to watch the short play the offer (if the have one running). A stop in the store for "penny" candy is always a must for them. Although the candy is not a penny it is not overly priced. Our favorite time to go is trick or treating at Halloween and opening night for Christmas.Always good family memories made at cross roads!

I had seen the sign for Huckleberry Railroad and Crossroads Village on I-75 several times, but never stopped there. What a mistake. It is a great place to learn about the past and how things are done/work. The train is a great ride as is the riverboat. Highly recommend for all. Can't wait to go back for their Halloween and Christmas displays.

While there are larger village recreations Crossroads Village truly gives the relaxed atmosphere that our grandparents would have experienced living in small town America. You can stroll through town with its general store, and opera house getting the feel of how people actually lived in the 1800's, but there is more to Crossroads Village the Huckleberry Railroad gives you an overview of the village and if you're lucky you might even get to ride in the caboose. The railroad isn't the only opportunity for a ride, Crossroads has a great antique carrousel, but my personal favorite is the paddle wheel boat that will take you along the banks of Mott Lake. Try the boat on a warm summer evening for a special treat.
Crossroads Village also has a wonderful Christmas celebration with twinkling lights and often shows at the opera house. The village offers something for everyone.

A unique place, excellent for kids , history and or train enthusiasts. Good information as well , highly recommend especially for younger kids ...

Our first experience with Crossroads Village was on "Day out with Thomas". The only time I've been here when it's packed. But for Thomas lovers, it is a must. This day is pricey compared to their normal prices, but it's cheaper than "Day out with Thomas" at Greenfield Village. Also the train ride is longer at Crossroads.
Crossroads is easy to get to, only an hour from Lansing, the parking is free. You can pack a lunch to bring in. Going out to your car and be back inside with in 5 minutes. Their food choices are limited, but won't break the bank. It's a place you can say "yes" to souvenirs, because they don't overprice them. You can buy handmade items within the village, like fresh ground flour or cornmeal, brooms or old fashioned wooden toys. The other little shops feature things from trains, nickel candy, nostalgic toys, stuffed animals, bonnets......all at reasonable prices.
I love coming here and riding the train(a 40 minute ride) and the paddle boat(30 minutes I think). They also have old-fashioned carnival rides. The merry-go-round is made for adults, as it goes 10 mph, it's used to train, train conductors to get on moving trains. The mini Ferris wheel is also quite fast. I love the Venetian boat ride, that only uses your upper body. They said it's nice for those with lower body handicaps.
During the summer they have theme weekends, once we came on classic authors. You could play crocket with the Queen of Hearts or have tea with Alice from Wonderland, or ride the boat with Moby Dick's Captain.
This is like a little jewel that not many people know about, because it's mostly deserted, but it is so much better and cheaper than Greenfield Village. I am smiling from the time I arrive to the time I leave. Even my children notice how friendly all the workers are there. They provide a schedule and map of the town so you can check out demonstrations mostly on every half hour from metal smithing, print press and grinding in the mill.
If you have been disappointed with 4th of July celebrations(I haven't been to one like I remember as a kid), give them a try. Once they had a small old fashioned parade that was the most fun my kids have every had, or they may have fair like games where all the kids win free prizes. And they always have a good old cake and ice-cream social in one of the backyards.

This recreation of a 19th century American village has a low-key, friendly, fresh-faced charm, offering a glimpse into history for youngsters, plus a nostalgic look backward for some of us adults. Our young grandkids especially liked doing household chores (carrying wood, hanging laundry) to earn token money to buy simple toys or treats from the peddler's wagon on Main Street. The carousel and the Venetian swings were also great fun for them, along with (of course) the Huckleberry Railroad.

Our family goes here several times a year to walk around and ride the train. Each season has it own special things to do.

Open almost all year. They have a great Christmas lights display. It is an Old village made up of old buildings brought in from around Genesee County to preserve them. It has a church, old drug store, blacksmith shop, glass blowing shop, houses, many more. They even have a civil war inactment that is put on with people dressed in that period with tents and actually living there, making candles, cooking food over fires, washing clothes outside. There is a really nice old fashion train ride which goes into the city of Genesee and back. It also runs a Halloween run and Christmas run. on the other side of the river is at stepping stone falls is a paddlewheel riverboat.

Always a great time to visit this railroad, the area is beautiful, people are friendly, and the food is amazing. The train ride is relaxing and their is always someone from another state, or even another country to share good memories.

This place is a step back in history
Many great displays and demonstrations
If you're lucky sometimes they have Civil War reenactment's
And a fun trainride

Great venue for this attraction. Very laid back and friendly. Visitors can bring their own picnic lunch and go to the parking lot easily. We threw out a blanket by a picnic table and the kids were able to rest and adults took a 45 min break during a long and exciting day. Visiting this park is truly taking a step back in time.

Always have a great time with the family here over the years and the kids still enjoy it as do us adults.

I've been going to Crossroads Village/Huckleberry railroad since I was a kid. My mother used to pack a lunch and we would spend the day there. I feel it is not quite as much fun as it used to be. They did away with the train robbery act which was very popular with kids. I guess it was determined to be too scary for kids. Still, it is an interesting place. It is basically a collection of old structures that have been transplanted from various places around the state to form an historic village. Some of the buildings are operational and give demonstrations: black smith shop, cider mill, printing press shop. Some you just walk through and tour. You can get an idea of what an old Doctors office was like and the equipment they used at the time. You can tour an old school building and church to get a feel for what that might have been like back in the day. There is usually a magic show presentation at a restored opera house. There used to be more workers (dressed in historic outfits) that would staff some of these attractions and do some demonstrations or give more historical background information. Unfortunately the staff seems to have dwindled over the years. The restored train is fabulous and runs in a loop that takes about 40 minutes. Kids usually are excited for the first few minutes then tend to get bored. They have a Halloween season where the emphasis is walking through the town collecting candy (everyone wears costumes). The kids enjoy that. There is also a Christmas season with light displays and a Christmas themed train ride. I think it is a good place to spend a day with family; bring a camera and leave the cell phones in the car and spend some family time together.

We visited here for halloween. My daughter loved it they have trick or treating through the village and a spooky train. The train is a bit cheezy, but overall enjoyed by the children.
We would go back for sure!

They take you here as a kid when you're in school, but I recently went with a friend and we're in our mid-twenties. It's cheaper than Greenfield, and it's super fun - especially during Christmastime. I would definitely go back again; it's nice to just walk around, eat the toasted almonds, and have a good hangout time.

Great place. There is a Parker carousel in a dedicated building. Very cool. I also liked the steam sawmill, the civil war era medical office, and the beautiful National Biscuit Company (yeah, Nabisco - who knew) display case. The narrow gauge of the railroad was interesting to see. All staff members were great.

Crossroads Village is a step back in time. The park is part of Genesee County parks system, and the park itself sits in a beautiful country setting. I've loved going there since childhood with my own parents, and now we love to take our kids there. The employees are informative and helpful. Decent food at a good price, although you are welcome to bring your own picnic and eat at one of the many sit down spots. Lots of demonstrations. All of the buildings, presentations, have some historical significance to the area. There is a train ride that takes you on a journey back in time, and a paddle wheel boat as well. We go there often in the summer and love the Christmas drive-through during the holidays.

We went here for Halloween. The kids had a blast. We got to trick or treat thru the whole village and come home with a bag of candy. We also rode the 'spooky fun' train.

Absolutely love visiting this place. We came for the first time in October for their Halloween event, brought my 1.5 year old who loved all the music and decorations. They put on a great display, awesome with kids and the train ride was fun, definitely more oriented towards young kids. Will for sure be going back and seeing what they put on for Christmas

This place is magical and easy to get through in just a couple hours. Well worth the price of admission but I suggest you buy a family pass so you can enjoy it with your family year roundFamily passes are under $100. I got them for my adult children for Christmas and they were super excited. We look forward to spending time there together this summer riding the train and the ferry.

I came here when I was about 8 years old back in the 90s, this time I was able to bring my own daughter. Not only is everything awesomely the exact same, even down to the ice cream. But this time my daughter got to experience something, I've never got to, she was able to be in a magic show. We rode the train, we got to play with antique toys, we also got to ride the boat. Right in the boat with something I've never done before, it was awesome being able to do that with my daughter this time around. Overall I would definitely write this a definite five star, this is an awesome place to bring you your family, and allow children to see how life used to be, before technology took over everything.

It's Greenfield Village Jr. And I don't mean this in a bad way. It's great if you don't want to travel to Dearborn. A perfect time to bring the family on a snowy night. Get hot cocoa, sit on Santa's lap, and ride the train. Build memories together that will last a lifetime.

This is such a unique experience!! You literally step back in time to Michigan in the mid to late 1800! We were there at Christmas time and it was beautifully lit and decorated. I loved riding on the steam train and seeing the lights around the lake. Also you have to see the play they do in the opera house!! It was wonderful and funny and the trip to Crossroads Village was a highlight of my Michigan trip

Great place to take the grandkids. They love the train ride. I ask the kids what was their favorite thing they saw or did. I expected the to reply the train, but most said the saw mill. I guess it is in their DNA, as my grandfather owned saw mills

This is a fun family event to do a handful of times while the kids are young. It was daylight when we first arrived, so we did not see the village lights until after dinner. The Christmas displays are beautiful. My children enjoyed the train ride but they were not as excited as the younger children around us. I would recommend this more for young families, childless couples or older generation. This would even make a fun date destination.
However, families with only middle school and high school kids may not be so amused.

It was fun going on the train! Missed the steam engine though because it had broken down, which sometimes happens when you are 100 yrs old! But it was fun for the whole family! And the village is awesome too!!! You can buy flour and corn meal that they grind right there at the mill. blacksmith, print ship and many others to show you how it was done yrs ago! And a theater that puts on live shows too!

very interesting place for kids. really enjoyed walking and interesting with the villagers. the ride on the train was the highlight

The village wasnt super crowded and as always the regular workers in the shops and stands were great once we got into the park. The helpers walking around the platform in the branded blue shirts looked miserable and the younger ones tended to be a little rude.
There was a little boy who tripped on the wooden stairs they were using to get pictures and the attendant taking photos rushed the parents in getting him up and snapped pictures of him looking miserable. Then he rushed them along and actually yelled at the mother and child when he wanted to touch Thomas. While there is nothing posted about not touching the train, the attendant wasnt nice about the misunderstanding.
Nobody stood up for the parent but it threw our day off seeing such rudeness especially given the tenor of the day.
The staff around the train seemed rushed and more concerned with their schedules around the train than the experience itself. The conductors were amazing however and very nice to all of the kids.
The man taking the tickets did direct us to the open cars at the back of the train saying that we could see everything from them, but on one of the two turns in the track the train was so long that we missed a picture opportunity for Thomas and couldn't see him very well so if you go aim for the third or fourth coach.
They had some fun booths, Bob the builder and a hay maze for the kiddos. Bounce houses and lots of small activities.
Overall the experience was great but I think the staff on the platform area could use a little more experience and empathy.

This is a great place to teach kids about life back in the 1800's. There are too many learning opportunities to list. I will say that the train ride is a highlight of the trip. The engineers are so friendly and make it fun! I live that it is a working village. This is a jewel in Genesee County Michigan!

The village is a great place to learn about history of all sorts of things. It is very interesting for adults. We attended this during the summer when the Little Berry event was going on. This event is supposed to have all sorts of activities for little kids. Yet there were not that many.
The steam train is really nice and it is great to see such an old steam engine and cars kept in such good condition. Once again though I feel this is something for older kids and adults and not necessarily the younger kids.
The village was not that busy during our attendance, but from what I understand they have a huge turn out for Halloween and Christmas which does look and sound fun for kids and adults.
Finally I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars because the staff is very courteous and informative. The train is very well maintained. The authentic buildings are also well maintained, and they seem to put a lot of effort into keep things authentic (such as real wooden toys, fresh made apple cider, etc.). The only reason I subtracted 1 star is because of the lack of activities for the younger ones, and they did not seem to have much food available besides ice cream and candy.
I would also say they need to advertise more in the surrounding cities and states.

We went to Crossroads Village with our son, grandson, and daughter in law to see Thomas the Train and take a great ride on the railroad. The little historic town they have set up is wonderful. It is fun to roam the stores and shops have a picnic and ride the railroad. This weekend they had Thomas the Train and the crowds were fabulous, well-behaved, and fun-loving. All the staff is in character. You see conductors, engineers, storekeepers, craftsmen, and people dressed in garb of days gone by. The ride was longer than I expected and simply wonderfully relaxing. A great time was had by all!!!

We went a few years back as something different to do and we been going back every since.
We went on the train ride and the boat ride I personally love the Boat ride better.
Love the trick or treating with my son and the Fall leaves and such. Wish they had a haunted hayride or Haunted house or more themes to the houses and some of the staff could be a bit more friendly.
But in a few incidents I had great service Batman in the theater was very friendly when helping me to get to my seat :) When I a cast on my Shoulder Thank you Batman :)
If you do plan to go please get tickets offline for the boat or train we missed out last year :( Sold out when we got there.
I forgot to add they do not have a restaurant that, I am aware of so you might have a snack there and then go or go afterwards out to eat. I wish they had more food venues!
Carnviial rides our a blast but expensive if you have many kids :)

Crossroads is a must-visit during Christmas time! It is beautifully decorated and the lights are spectacular. Get there early or buy your tickets in advance for the train ride! Worth the money!

Have visited many times in the past.. mostly at Christmas time!! A great place to take the family for a step back in time!!

There are many areas throughout the united States that have outside village reconstruction and this is one of the better ones that we have seen. Very relaxing and interesting. Great for all ages

For the price, a great place to spend the day. Overall not as large and wonderful as Greenfield Village but also MUCH less expensive. Smaller park, but better train and a boat ride, too. Concessions offer your basic hot dog and chips and ice cream type fare and are not outrageously marked up.
I took my 72 year old mother. We had a nice time.

The train ride, not so much. This was my daughter's (teenager) first trip here. And she absolutely loved the village. She loved listening to all the 'actors' telling of their tales of life during those days. She was absolutely enraptured the entire time, until the train ride. The train ride promised lights, and yes there was lights, but nothing like what was seen in the village. The village was magical and I guess we both thought the train ride would be too. Don't get me wrong the train ride was nice, the lights were merely decorations here and there. We were dissappointed in that. But over all, we would go at Christmas again, just not do the train ride until perhaps the summer, the views of the lake should be nice.

It's all decked out with the fall theme. I took my two great-granddaughters (3 and 4 1/2) and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They took in the sights (and sounds), loved the rides and couldn't wait to ride the train. It was a great day ending with hot apple cider and donuts. Must see for everyone - with or without kids.

There aren't many local to Flint attractions, but this is a wonderful place to bring the family at any time of the year. The spring and summer allow for the Genesee Belle to run on Mott Lake, Halloween brings trick-or-treating and the ghost train, and Christmas time brings Ladies' Night and the lights! Have a ride on the Carousel or Ferris wheel! Look inside all of the buildings! Talk to the townspeople, and make a purchase or two! It's great for all ages!

Haven't been here in a while, and thought it was closed. this area has really suffered in the wake of the bad economy, but good things always find a way to exist!

This is a great place to take the kids for fun a learning some wonderful history. They have great presenters and the train ride is lots of fun. Go during the winter for a wonderful Christmas experience.

We love coming here any time of year when they have events. Christmas is our favorite though - we love to go on the Christmas Train, see the show, do a craft in the old school, go on the carousel, get a hot chocolate, etc., etc. The decorations are always just beautiful as well!
Only downfall --- food. Two places to eat but we will choose the sit down restaurant this year. The café food is not worth the $.

Gathered the families and went to the village when the gates opened at 4:00. We had train reservations at 6:50. As the evening darkened you could see all the wonderful lights arranged throughout the village. A mini tram was available to take you from one place to another. The kids can see Santa in an intimate setting. The general store had great, affordable toys. One tree in the town was covered top to bottom, every branch, with 100,000 lights. An ice carver worked in one of the exhibits. Inside one of the buildings is a large old fashioned carousel. This is a must do at least once in your life... especially with children. Although there are places to warm up, dress warm in the winter months as it is all outside.

This in an awesome historical village and we always love coming here. It is very beautiful with the holiday lights up.

We arrived on a Saturday a couple of weeks before Halloween. The weather was cool and dry, but windy. We took a train ride thru the "Hainted Forest" (the train Todd its normal route, but the woods were decorated for Halloween.) We saw goblins and ghosts, pumpkins and spooks, witches and scary monsters ( not really ).... All the while enjoying the train ride!... We then went trick or treating throughout the Village and acquiring lots of goodies!.... Then rode the miniature train (kids only) and then took a boat ride on the lake!.... It was a great adventure that took the whole afternoon!... All for $18 per person!... We will be back next year for sure!

whether you like looking into old buildings, riding the steam engine train, walking around all of the houses with beautiful gardens or just sipping an ice cold cider, this is the place to take the family for the day. have always enjoyed going here many times.

Pizza and trains, does it get any better? Staff is always friendly and even when there are larger crowds they handle them well.

I took my daughter-in-law and 2 grandkids to see Thomas the Tank Engine--it was a suprise for the grands and they were thrilled! There was a wonderful train ride through the wooded area surrounding the village--on such a hot day the cool breezes through the windows felt wonderful!
Not terribly expensive for a day's enjoyment.

This is a very great place to visit with the family. You get to ride the train and see what the area has too offer. Crossroads Village is a step back in time. Come and check it out, you will have a great time.

I visited Crossroads Village when I was a child and have started to visit again with my nephew. He has enjoyed it the multiple times he has been there. We went one time when it was "normal", and then another time for Halloween. The Halloween visit is pretty impressive. They have candy for the children at many different stops. My nephew also enjoys the Ferris wheel.

I had my wedding there and oh my gosh was it AMAZING! The entire venue is perfect for pictures and all around fun! Their prices are better than any other venue around and the staff is amazing! We were able to rent the carousel for rides and pictures which gave it a very unique touch. I almost wish I could get married again just to use that wonderful venue! The in house catering staff from Sullivan's is just as great and their food was to die for! Thank you so much for letting us have our event there!

My wife and I met a lady working the second building on the right. Extremely exceptionally pleasant and helpful to the displays, rides and the area. A must see place to go.

This is one of my favorite places to go especially for the holidays. I love the atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly.

This was a great place for our family to visit. My wife loved how there was someone in each building explaining the history and answering questions. My autistic son loved the paddleboat ride. There's a carousel as well that employees noticed my son was covering his ears and offered to turn off the music for his ride to be more enjoyable to him! My youngest loved the train ride. Something for everyone!

We enjoy Christmas at Crossroads always. I love the Holiday feeling you get while there. The train ride is also good. Great light displays.

We had 9 family members in our group-6 adults, 2 two year olds and 1 five year old. We all thought that the village/Christmas train was well worth the price. The little ones enjoyed the lights outside, the Christmas carols that were playing, and the train ride itself. We decided to take the 5:00 train and have dinner at the Mill Street Dining room at 6:00 because we were not sure where to go for dinner after the train ride. We were all very underwhelmed with the dining area and the food-our adult children compared it to school cafeteria food (although the high school I taught as actually had better food). The tables were jammed together and it was difficult to move around with the strollers and the lack of space between the tables.
There is NO ambience in the room. I would think it would be easy to decorate the room somewhat and to have a group (high school chior?) to come in and sing Christmas carols or to pipe in some music. The price for children was-children 25 months-12 years, $12. There is a HUGE difference between what a 25 month eats and a 12 year old. I think that there should be a bigger price break for young children. Our 30 mth and 34 month olds ate very little-didn't like the mac and cheese and picked at the chicken. Our 5 year old only ate a chicken leg and a roll and didn't like anything else-said that the ham was too salty. She did think the ice cream was good. My husband and I felt that we would have rather spent our money on meals more suited for all of our age ranges.
None of our group thought that the food was that great. The baked chicken was the only draw, The ham was a cheaper type-not a spiral cut ham. The green beans-frozen I think, had some slivered almonds, but were cool. The meatballs in sauce were deemed awful at our table. Some of us got ice cream but passed on some of the desserts as we watched people grab cookies with their hands and eat food over the open dessert containers-no sneeze guard on that area.
Overall thoughts-if you have a bunch of big eaters who are not very picky about what they eat-they can eat as much as they like. If, like us, you would rather have a decent meal and are not concerned about eating copious amounts of mediocre food-I would eat at a restaurant before I came into the village.
We were only able to get glasses of water if we snagged a waitress and she had to get it in the kitchen and bring to our table. No pitches of water were available to get ourselves.

When we went to Flint Michigan we took our grandson who is six years of age to Crossroads village and the Huckleberry railroad. It is a very relaxed atmosphere just to ride on a steam train , then to return and go through the many homes and stores from the past 1800s. Our grandson loved the Merry go round then we all enjoyed the ice cream from the first store we stopped at. The weather was perfect and even if not you can go through the shops or watch the Smithy make tools of iron or tour an early authentic school. We have been there two times now and every time there is something new. Will worth the trip and it it is near Flint Michigan.

i took some family members here who were visiting. we wanted to take the train tour and walk around the village. there was a pretty big halloween event going on for the kids. it was fun to see all the kids dressed up. the train ride was about 40 minutes but was clearly catered toward children. it may have been better to visit this place with my adult family another time. overall, for families with children, i'd recommend this place

After a beautiful, quaint and WONDERFUL Christmas experience, we have a new family tradition. We had a group of 11 ranging from elderly, disabled, teens to toddlers. All were thrilled and able to be accommodated to make it thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Brought the family here over the Thanksgiving week end and we had a great time. Had bought tickets on line 2 weeks ahead and glad we had because it was a packed train. If you are first in line you can ride in the caboose.

There are so many things I love about Crossroads Village. Anytime of year you can find different things going on. Our favorite is the trick or treating through the village, we have been visiting the village for Halloween for the past 15 years. The village is lit up with subtle "scary" attractions for the young and old. It is a safe place to take little kids, as well as big kids.
You don't want to miss the Winter wonderland when they light up the village for Christmas! Walk or drive through to see the amazing artistry of Crossroads village designers! It is a great tradition for our area! Ladies night is a fun night out as well! Download their calender for dates and events! Make sure to make time for at least one event, if not more, a year!

Strolling through the town is very pleasant and the staff are all very friendly (and knowledgeable). Definitely recommend the Genesee Belle tour. It's quiet and non-narrated, making it very relaxing.

Crossroads village once again did a fantastic job of making the village fun, welcoming, and engaging for all ages for their trick or treat weekends. I ended up going twice this year, once with my nieces and nephew and the other with my godsons. The kids ranged from 7 year old to 6 months. What a perfect fall event and the kids loved the train rides, the donuts, and trick or treating at all the stops. Only bummer was that there was no animals out. But we still had a fantastic day both times (once in the rain!)

Love the first Saturday in June! Love all the free activities! Disliked that you had to print off the voucher from the site, but otherwise it's great! So much to do!

Treated my son's family to a wonderful Sunday outing at the Village. Five adults and six children and we all found things that interested us. The blacksmith had a terrific demonstration of making mini horse shoes. He also explained early life centered around a blacksmith. The cider press was interesting but sadly all the pressings had to be dumped, it was not pasteurized, commercial cider was for sale. The Huckleberry Railroad train ride was the highlight, forty minutes behind a steam locomotive, open cars, closed cars and a caboose. The only negative was that the paddle wheel boat was down for maintenance.

We visited Crossroads Village for the second time this past September. And it's always worth re-visiting. Each building in the village has something special to learn about in it - and it's difficult to get to all of them in just one day. The character actors are busily doing the chores and most give insightful information on their area of expertise. Our favorite thing is the carousel, an antique wooden Parker carousel kept in top condition. Hang on tight! It travels at its original speed - fast! There are some other great children's vintage rides outside as well. We also went to the magic show - also lots of fun. And we rode the train, which is definitely worth doing.

Such a great family place to go....from the train ride....to visiting the town and learning about things from the past. Kids had a great time...asking questions, talking to people and listening to the stories. For me it was like going 'home' again as I used to go there when I was younger....was so nice to be able to share this special place with my own family...

Our 4 year old grandson loves Thomas and watches the old shows and has the toys. He was really looking forward to his train ride! Unfortunately, the music was SO loud, he was overwhelmed.
We would have appreciated some warning about the constant barrage of music. I suggest that there be an option for a quiet car where the speakers aren’t on. I’m sure many kids loved the noise, but a choice would have been ideal. Seeing how many cars were in the train, that shouldn’t be too big an ask.

Nice place to visit. Boat ride was relaxing. Prices were reasonable. Not much for teenagers but great if you have small kids.

Put on your walking shoes for a stroll down old memory lane, a look back when days were simple and plain. Old houses and stores all with a story. Farm animals, small shops to eat and shop. I like this place. Better to go during seasons which brings out more of the theme for me.

This is a really nice place to take children for a visit. Walking back through time... Great staff here as well as wonderful things to see. A must visit place for a family and even a couple for a night out and see a play in the theater. Wonderful experience for all...

Both the village and railroad is well done and show great history of the area. While this is no Greenfield Village, it offers a lot of the same charm minus the chaos and crowds. The carousel is well done (just a little fast). The Ferris wheel was fun and offered nice views. I would love if the interpreters did things in the buildings that relate to the time. While some were doing things, most were just dressed in period clothing and were there to tell what you are seeing. This is a great place for history and showing your kids a bygone time.

I'm planning to go there.. But still not decided yet, I have a question about being there.. What is the best time for example in the morning from 10 - 2 or 3 -6
What do you suggest for me
Thanks..

Took 19 of our family last night and what a fun time! We’ve taken our kids through the years and this time 3 of our grandkids. Crossroads never disappoints. From the quaint 19th century town, to the GORGEOUS Christmas lights, carousel and ending our night with a ride on the steam locomotive having a chance to see all the beautiful lights displays and of course, Santa... this trip was a win.
If you want to give memories to last a lifetime, instead of toys that will be broken and forgotten by next year... grab a date and treat your family for Christmas!!
Tip: Purchase tickets and book train ride ahead of time. We had a large group and they allowed us to board first on our car and all sit together. We sang Christmas carols and had such an amazing time.
Thanks again for adding to our Christmas memories, Crossroads!!

Fantastic working 1800s town with Opera House, sawmill, cider mill, farm, ice house, town buildings, and steam railroad

I've been going here since I was a little kid, and now I take MY kids here. I love going here and relearning the history, so interesting and educational. To see all of the houses and how they lived in the olden days is amazing.

A great train ride at a reasonable price and the crossroads village has many store to shop from and a lot of information about the earlier days and how they live back in the 1800's-1900's.

Many people don't think about Flint as a hotbed for cultural activities -- but all you have to do is spend some time and check the reviews for things to do in the area. And this one jumps out. It is hard to believe that an attraction as fabulous as this one isn't in Orlando, or Anaheim, or some place known for fabulous attractions. The railroad reminds me of the Disneyland rail ride but outfitted specially for Christmas with terrific light displays that absolutely shine in the night darkness. We took the 7:30 pm ride and it was remarkable. The "12 Days of Christmas" displays at the east end of the 45 minute ride were especially outstanding. Our grandchildren were glued to the windows and it was reasonably warm in the glorious wooden train cars, in spite of the cold outdoors.
Of course, none of the typical warm-weather attraction sites could have accommodated something like this in the winter. So be it. Even oldsters will enjoy it. And the village is a good attraction as well. We witnessed a very fun Christmas play in the theatre. We could have spent a lot more time there as well. We bought our tickets in August so plan ahead!

Great place to spend a day outside with family. We have done the Halloween trick or treating in the past years and the kids absolutely loved it! Train ride is fun for all ages!

I love visiting crossroads village it take u way back to little house on the Prairie days it's just exciting to see how people lived in those days they have a wonderful train that rides u thru the park..also a added feature is the genesee Belle riverboat that gives u a magnificent view of Mott lake I advise anyone visiting the genesee County area to stop by its a place adults & children can enjoy

the staff and interpretive people are knowledgable and friendly. the walk thru the village can be relaxed and informative. the carousel is beautiful and well maintained. some of the buildings are showing their age; however, there appears to be a program in place to preserve them correctly

I took my friend who is a huge history buff for her birthday. She loved it. The train ride was awesome. All the buildings were out of this world. I loved the gift shop. I am going back again for the third time. First time I went while in grade school. Great place for families.
The picture is my friend I took for her birthday on the train.

nice place to take a family. Lots of walking and train ride is nice.
You can take the boat ride as well.

We visit Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad so many times during the year, so much fun and so many things to do and enjoy. My group loves it. The boat ride is so relaxing.

We went at Halloween and it was ALOT of fun for the kids! There were cider and donuts available as well as other snacks. A show if you wanted to take the time, trick or treating stations for the kids, boat rides and train rides. It was alot of fun. Come in costume!

If you are looking for glitz and a fancy Halloween this isn't for you. This a safe, relaxed, comfortable bit a small town Halloween. It was so fun to go trick or treating from store to store and the workers were cute with the kids. Afterwards it was fun to enjoy the cider and doughnuts.

This has got to be Genesee County Parks' biggest money maker. The village is AMAZING year round but, at Christmas, it is a MUST SEE!!! The lights that are on display is super amazing! There are nights that you can drive through in your vehicle, when vehicles are prohibited from the Village any other time of year. The little church is often used for weddings, and the bride must arrive in a horse driven coach. The small schoolhouse is used by classes from all over the area for field trips. The kids will dress in time era appropriate clothing, pack a sack lunch, and learn reading and 'riting and 'rithmetic, taught by a school marm. It's really something to see and experience. Good year 'round. Heck, even Thomas the Tank Engine makes a regular appearance here each summer. The majority of the buildings inside the Village were moved there from other areas in Genesee County where, if they had stayed where they were built, they most likely would have been demolished. Kids can visit the toy maker's shed and play with old wooden toys and even stilts! This adult rocked those stilts by golly! Lots of fun for kids of every age. Don't miss the carousel (that sucker flies!), the human-powered boat "swings", and the ferris wheel that, if filled, probably only holds 20 people of so. Plan on spending the entire day here if you go, if you want to experience it all. And if you are in the area when the Genesee Belle is running, don't forget to catch a ride on her too. She's an old-fashioned paddlewheel boat.

Awesome around Halloween and definitely a great time for Christmas. Crossroads is a staple that has been around for generations!

I live near Crossroads so my family goes at least a few times per year. During the summers they usually have at least a few days where they offer free admission, and you just pay for the boat or train if you're interested in those. For as frequently as we go, we always try to go on the discounted days because it does get expensive! My son is 5 and doesn't really understand that people actually use to live that way, but he always enjoys going there & loves the train. The boat ride is very nice also. There are a lot of beautiful backdrops for pictures, which is fun. Lots of picnic areas, adequate restrooms. We will continue to go back as often as we can. They have Thomas the train in August & During the winter if it's too cold to walk through the village, they offer drive thrus for $5 per car where you can drive through and see all of the beautiful Christmas lights.

The Halloween set up is great for the kids. They have a spooky train ride..... Well for the kids.... But all in all, good times!

When you go... Buy tickets ahead.... Sells out fast. Dress warm.... Train is not that warm . Train is nice & clean. The audio could be updated... Sound very "canned" and not even with the light show. Lights were nice.... I think it would be more festival with snow.... Not brown & wet....Felt park could of cleaned or de-iced the sidewalks .... Parking lot had ankle deep slush.

They have tacky decorations for the Halloween train ride. The bottom line is, kids enjoy it, and they pass out candy at different buildings on the property. At Christmas time they have the village decorated with more lights than Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. On Monday nights you can drive thru the village without getting cold, and my Mom (RIP) really enjoyed that.

We loved the train ride-especially great during Halloween and Christmas! During Christmas they have Christmas scenes that you ride past in lights. Blue Belle beach is close, as is Stepping Stone Falls. An awesome time!

The scenery is simple but whimsical enough to keep the attention of the kids (I was with 1st graders) we went through the town and visited each area. The staff was very friendly and clearly enjoy the kids. We sat with Santa and took the train ride through the Christmas light decorations.
I think first and second graders would enjoy this the most

What a welcome surprise to find Crossroad Village and Huckleberry Railroad north of Flint, MI. The village is a great place to relax and take your time wandering about. Almost every building has a staff member who is dressed for the period and will discuss with you the aspects of that building and what went on there. There is a magic show to see, demonstrations of the cider press, the blacksmith shop, lumber cutting at the saw mill, grain grinding at the Grist mill and a host of other adventures awaiting you. We took the 40 minute train ride and enjoy the scenery and the whole experience of riding on an old-fashioned train. The paddle wheel boat was being repaired and so we could not ride it around the lake but look forward to doing so the next time we are there. This was a great way to spend a beautiful Michigan morning and we thoroughly enjoyed our time interacting with the staff of the Village and the Railroad. Excellent visit and lots of fun.

It was really cold but that didn't seem to impact anyone or how much we enjoyed walking around looking at Christmas decorations. Make reservations for the train ride because there was a long line waiting to get on. Our grandson enjoyed the Model trains and since they were inside we didn't mind his multiple requests to revisit the display. Very nice visit.

I was in Michigan on vacation and decided to visit Crossroads Village with the family. Overall it was surprisingly delightful.
Although it appears to be a small village, it is really not that small. Everyone got tired and we ending up not seeing the entire village. We probably would have stayed longer had we not gone on a hot summer day. The exhibits seemed authentic and the staff was friendly. There are numerous demonstrations, mostly clustered near midday, covering a surprisingly large number of trades. Crossroads Village is the only place I can remember visiting that uses live steam to power equipment. The Huckleberry Train was pleasant but unimpressive. However with a minimal extra cost it is a good value and the short trip is a great introduction for children.
Crossroads Village does not match the size and sophistication of better known attractions such as Greenfield Village or Colonial Williamsburg. It also has a far lower admission price and far less crowds. In some sense, the more casual feel of Crossroads Village seems more realistic than the manicured appearance of the better known villages.

The old village is a relaxing stroll. The train ride was fun and the kids loved it. There is even a carousal-one of the fastest I've ever ridden.

This place is great! We come every year to ride the Haunted Train and this year we even tried the boat ride!! Trick-or-Treating was fun and we love how they decorate the village every year. We have to try and make it back for the Christmas Train.

This is a walk back in history! Wonderful old buildings. People dressed in old times, reenactment of the way it use to be. There's a train and boat you can ride. Plus other amusement type of rides for the kids. Just a lovely place to visit. Very laid back. I highly recommend this place.

Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad is a wonderful site year around but through the month of October it goes to a whole new level of fun. The Village is composed of 34 old structures which were moved from locations around the county before they were destroyed. Here they have been restored and maintained. At Halloween it is home to ghosts, goblins and and ghouls and is creepy, very creepy--just perfect for a late October eve. The staff, including an array of witches, goblins and vampires man 20 stations throughout the village handling out Halloween treats to the kids were great and kept the atmosphere friendly so even the little ones weren't afraid. . Cider and doughnuts were offered at the Millstreet Warehouse. Riding the steam driven Ghost Train Express through the haunted woods for 45 minutes was great fun. We finished the evening riding the historic carousel for $1.25 a ticket or 4 for $4.00. The price of $18.00 for both the Village and the Ghost Train is a bargain. Reserve your train tickets early. It fills up.

So much fun! We had an amazing time there. the weather was fortunately good that night, and the lights were amazing. The show was fantastic, and the food was good. Will definitely be visiting a lot this summer and fall.

My husband and I took our four of grandchildren for the train ride oh my goodness it was cold, but they enjoyed it. We went to some historical building. My workplace goes every year.

what an exciting place. Takes you back in time to remember what Flint was. Lots of energetic employees that taught you alot of the early days. Take the boat ride it was awesome

We took our children to Huckleberry Railroad and Village several times when they were growing up and now it's just the two of us.
(To tell you the truth, we enjoy it more now.)
It is a little pricey but well worth the time.
Be a kid again and enjoy the steam railroad and the steam boar. Visit the quaint shops, etc. Get lost in a time long gone except in books and in the hearts of children!

We road the railroad. Lot of Christmas lights 40 min trip trough wooded area. Old steam engine train with staff dresses in period clothes. Lights on train made it magical. Crossroads village was decorated with 1.5 million lights. Very lovely would have been better with snow. Had the buffet which was ok as buffets go. Plenty of food. When to Frosty’s Follies. Audiotaped story of Santa frosty and the grench. Really poorly done but my 6 yo grandson loved it. Well worth going to it over the winter holidays. No clue what it is like in the summer. I think they have artists making things

Went here with a Girl Scout Troop (8 year olds) and had a BLAST! They loved the train ride as well as trick-r-treating through the set up village. They had doughnuts and cider and fresh picked apples - the works. Very fun day out!

This place is very interesting with lots and lots to see and do. I highly recommend it. The staff and volunteers were all super-friendly, very helpful and polite.
The train ride is worth the small extra payment and goes on quite a long journey, so I'd also recommend you do that as well. There are many more buildings to visit than I first expected, and just when you think you may have seen them all, it turns out there are more around the next corner. I was there several hours and still didn't see everything, so I'll go again next time I'm in the area.

My wife and I visited here for the first time on a "date." We absolutley loved it. All the lights and historic buildings are beautiful and are enough to make this a great Christmas Tradition on their own. On top of that, the employees are all nice and helpful. Lots of families enjoying themselves. The merry-go-round is beautiful and historic. It is also very fast and fun. We also rode the Ferris Wheel - a little cold but definitely worth it. Riding both of those, for a moment we were both kids again. A church choir sang Christmas carols at the historic church where you could stop and listen and warm up. If you're looking for a great historic setting, with just old fashioned hospitality - look know further. A memorable night of just simple enlightenment and fun for all ages.

We visit Huckleberry Railroad every year for Day Out w Thomas. We enjoy the village and railroad tremendously. Tickets are not cheap but its a family tradition and we wouldn't miss it. The village sometimes looks sparse but its a nice reflection into our past and we love it. We always attend magic show prior to train ride. Train ride is 40 minutes, much better value than what is offered at Greenfield Village.

A small taste of what Flint was in the early 1900s. This is a great place to bring the family. The village has different activities going on depending on the season. Christmas at Crossroads is my favourite. The kids, young and old, love riding the train.
In the summer, there is a boat you can take up and down the river. The Ferris wheel and carousel are also big hits.
The prices are pretty low. You just can't beat it.

Went here on the 4th of July with my wife, 4 year old, and 18 month old and had a great time. Both kids loved the forty minute steam train ride and it was their first time on a train. The train ride is a little pricey but you are on authentic period era train cars with the last of its kind operating steam engine. The ride itself has some nice views of a lake and goes through a small town and some wooded areas. Kids under two ride free on the train.
While we were there, they had a free ice cream social, face painting, and games for the kids where they could win a prize. Another nice touch are the rides at the back of the park. My four year old loved the Ferris wheel and Viking boat rides. The historic carousel was interesting but went a little too fast for little ones.
We spent about four hours here and didn't even go on the paddle boat or go into many of the historic buildings, so you can definitely spend a long time here.
The park is located near the northeast border of Flint but is not in the city of Flint. Coming off the Carpenter Rd. Exit on I-475, goes through some run down areas but it quickly changes to a rural area as you get closer to the park. No charge to park your car.
This park is truly a gem for the Flint area and the state of Michigan and should be more well known. I've lived in Lansing for over fifteen years and hadn't heard of this place until this year. I will be sure to spread the word and come back another time.

We came for the holiday buffet, train ride, and lights. It was wonderful. The train ride was so nice, with singing along as we rode through the countryside looking at all the lights. The village was decorated beautifully as well.
We enjoyed it so much, and want to come back next year.

Crossroads is a great stop during any time, but at Christmas it is spectacular. The lights are amazing and the Christmas music piping throughout the park makes it magical. The train ride is a must to see even more incredible lights. The kids always like the show at the Opera house. This place is one of the best of it's kind and is a must stop for us every year.

I grew up trick-or-treating at Crossroads as a kid. Their Halloween decorations and events will always remain cherished memories. The village itself is well-kept and clean and has some incredible pieces from days of America's past. Not only is Crossroads a great place for kids to have a good time and learn, but adults will appreciate it as well. While I've never been during the Christmas season, I am told the lights are incredible.

Drove up from Detroit to ride the steam train (which is heavily advertised on their website). But turns out most days they just use a diesel engine. Definitely not the same experience. Not worth the trip.

Took my 6 year old grandson for his first train ride at Huckleberry railroad. It was comfortable on the train even though it was freezing and snowy outside. The ride is approximately 45 minutes long.
There were buildings open that you could go into while walking the village so that you could stay warm. The trees were brightly lit and made for awesome pictures.

They add more and more of interest every year! I think it's a rare gem compared to other such places. Do to lack of support or interest, so many others have only a couple buildings and a few reenactment weekends. Crossroads isn't like those. Live music, performances... you name it! (just check the schedule) This is like a living history all the time. They do have special events so check their calendar to plan your visit!
Wear comfortable shoes as you will do a lot of walking! Don't forget your wagon for little ones, water bottles and pack a picnic! There is food and drinks available. Be sure to ride the train AND the riverboat! (Also don't miss a ride on the 1912 carousel and matching Ferris Wheel for a few $s!) It is marvelous at Christmas with it's millions of lights, live music and Santa in the village. There are also free drive-thru of lights and decorations.

We took our grandson to ride the train. It was very well done and he was very excited. There were plenty of staff on hand to help through out the park. They had a passport that you took around to get stamps. The only negative was that collect the reward for all your stamps you had to go through the toy store.

This is a wonderful venue for a family outing. It is quait and does not require too much walking for the elderly. The train trip is a must. It is so peaceful and relaxing.

Crossroads Village is a place my boyfriend and I take his son when they offer trick or treating. Neither of us like to be scared and his son is under 5, so this place is great for the three of us. Everyone gets a bag for candy and everyone gets free cider and donuts. The "haunted" train ride is worth it just to relax and take in the cute, hand made cartoon decorations in the fall colored trees. Crossroads Village is a must visit for the fall.

We went to the village, train ride and buffet. The village is quaint, the train was fun, wish there was snow! The buffet was very good -the ham was wonderful. Service was very good. We will be back again nest year!

I have been taking my family here for 25 years. We started by coming for Halloween; we also come at Christmas and during the summer.
This is the best kept secret in lower Michigan. I tell everyone I know what a great place and what a great deal this is.
If you have gone to Greenfield Village for Halloween- and bought that pricey ticket or gone to the Detroit Zoo and waited in line for a good hour then this place is for you. This is 18 bucks per person which includes a boat ride, haunted train ride and trick or treating.
The real deal is doing the yearly membership- better deal if you are county resident but still a great deal for any familyi surrounding counties too.
Unlike the zoo or Greenfield - the yearly membership includes the Halloween and Christmas trains and celebrations.
The trick or treating takes you through buildings and around mazes. Good, generous treats- not a little piece of candy. And the last stop is cider and a doughnut.
Be warned- you need to make reservations ahead of time- this gets filled up fast- I have told many, many people and even though I tell them how great it is, they always tell me it was even better than I said. And they all say they are going again next year.
This is by Flint- not far from Birch Run and Frankenmueth. If you get the yearly membership you can take a drive during the summer to shop and stop here and do the paddle boat and train on your way home. It's much less busy in the summer months.
I really can't say enough good things about this place- it is a wonderful place for families and it doesn't cost a fortune. Go-be amazed.

A Great place to take your children and Grandchildren. The Huckleberry RR is a must trip. If you are a History Buff, you will enjoy your visit

A very fun fall day activity! They pass out treats to all who pay admission, it is decorated with "kid friendly" fun haunted houses, donuts and cider included. We purchased the train ride too, a definite must if you go with young children! This is a very enjoyable place to take the family.

This is an ideal place to bring the youngsters. A historic village where they make or do crafts, a train ride and a even steamboat.
For a county park, this is the best I've ever seen.
I can't say enough good about this park, a few minutes off I475. Take the kids. Have a good time.

Had the pleasure of taking my grandsons here. They had a great time trick or treating through the village. Then we took the train ride. We got lucky and with seats in the caboose. They loved it.!

The address on this page is wrong. It's actually off of Bray rd. The address listed takes you to the main office of genessee county p&r. Take a right out of the parking lot onto Genessee rd, go over the bridge, take a left onto E. Stanley. Follow that to Bray, take a left. The entrance is on your left.

Even though we don't travel far, it is always fun to stop in. My daughter loves the train and boat rides - what kid wouldn't??
Christmas time is so pretty and fun! Halloween is fun, but as my daughter gets older I wish it would update a little bit, seems out dated.
Cannot say anything bad about CVHR. Would be nice if they had designated areas for smokers.. some trips out there we run into groups of people just smoking anywhere which can be annoying.

We visited on Thanksgiving weekend. We had the first train and it was not dark. I think it would have been better if it was dark. But great authentic train experience. The historic village is nice, but I expected more shopping. When we visited the old doctors office, the lady inside was so friendly and passionate about the history. My kids had fun learning about the old equipment. It was so busy by the time we left. My only complaint would be the clay roads-it was sort of a sloppy mess and really dirtied our pants, shoes and car. Great light displays.

We have gone to Crossroads for many years and we are never disappointed . The parks system always does a great job decorating the village, two years ago our son and his family were here from Europe and his wife took pictures and wrote an article for a paper back home praising the park.

We didn't go to this event with children but we definitely will when we have children!! They have trick or treat stops...you can buy a ticket for a buffet lunch (good variety of food)...boat ride on the lake...train ride...neat family atmosphere!

Enjoy riding the rails on and old steam train or just walking through the historic village. pack a lunch or go to the cafe. Visit the Cider Mill and many other historical buildings from around Genesee County that have been moved to the Village. Nice relaxing day trip with family and friends. Check out the list of events; Halloween at Crossroads and the Christmas train and light display are just two that are wonderful.

Steam trains are one of our favorite things to do and this was no disappointment.
The village had fun rides like a ferris wheel and carousel thatwere nominal charge. Taketime to enjoy this fun history lesson!

Our family loves crossroads village, especially at Christmas and Halloween. They have cider and donuts in the fall as well as trick or treating around the village. The train ride is beautiful in the fall and at Christmas time.

Go right before Christmas, and go on the Christmas train. The grandkids loved it. Also, Halloween is another great holiday trip to Crossroads, go from house to house for the kids to fill their Halloween trick or treat bags.

We come here every year on Black Friday for their annual lighting kick off. Great place to take the family. It's even a bonus if there's snow on the ground! The only thing I have a problem with is their food choices. Not the best of quality. I don't care about the price, I just want better food choices. Everything else I wouldn't change.

Growing up in Genesee county I always remember CRV and was so excited to take my daughter! Everything from Halloween and Christmas themed visits to a summer day on the train and boat. CRV has always been clean and full of history! Fun place fur families with young children.

Crossroads Village is a great family attraction. Interesting bits of history throughout,
with something for all ages. A glimpse of the early 1900's when life was a lot simpler. There is a paddle boat, and the Huckleberry railroad for relaxing rides, along with many areas to just sit back and enjoy a snack fro the many stores in the Village. You will enjoy this step back in time!

Halloween is a great time at Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad! We try to make it every year. Trick or Treating, lots of decorations, a maze that big or little kids enjoy, the train ride as well as the ferris wheel and merry-go-round! It has become a tradition in our family. It has everything that is Fall. The kids love dressing up and seeing other kids dressed up. I love the staff and volunteers who work here, they are always kinds and helpful!

This place was a real treat. If we lived in the area, we would certainly buy family year passes every few years.
First, the village. It's such a wonderful mixture of residences and businesses from Flint around 1900. There are many demonstrations happening all throughout the day - we learned more about the printing press, cider mill and grist mill. Maybe we can see the other demonstrations another time. There were many interpreters who were very helpful, describing the buildings they were in. The lady in the Fox family house was especially informative and friendly. It's also small enough that you can walk from one end of the village to the other easily.
The 40 minute train ride was a lot of fun. You have to think ahead to take one of these, choosing your time as you buy your tickets. The train itself is vintage and the ride comfortable. A conductor talks about the places we are passing (a real person, not a recording) so that you know what you are seeing. He also gave the interesting history of this short railroad.
While everything was very enjoyable, we chose to come here because of the carousel. This is a 1912 C. W. Parker carousel, rather rare, very well kept up. Every horse was in pristine condition (a very difficult thing to keep up). There was some fun information given about the carousel and carousels in general in one area which included two "spare" horses as well as an unrestored one to show their condition when they first arrived.
Going through the carousel building, we found ourselves in a unique Midway of the past. The 1910 Superior Wheel (Ferris wheel with colorful Gondola carts) was also made by C. W. Parker, making this the only place in the world that features 2 Parker rides. Only 3 Parker Superior Wheels remain in existence today. The Venetian Swings are even more rare - this is the only surviving antique one in the entire country (made in the early 1900s by the Allen Hershell Factory). It takes muscles to make it go - we thought it was something every playground should have. Our children also rode the 1940 Mangels Pony Cart ride and the 1940 Allen Hershell Miniature Train ride. Basically, if you want to experience what carnival rides used to be like, this is the place to come.

Just came home from this attraction and took children. Lots of children, lol. Had a great time and the kids loved the candy giveaway at about 15 to20 different stops. There are a lot of shops to buy hand made items and places to grab a bit to eat. The train ride took about 20 minutes but the kids loved it with plenty to keep their attention. We will return for the Christmas tour for some more fun. It was a great day out and worth our drive which was about 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours. Dress warm if you go in the fall and where good walking shoes.

My family has been enjoying Crossroads Village and the Huckleberry Railroad for over thirty years, as we live nearby. Of course, it's open all summer and early fall, but reopens for a few weekends leading up to Halloween (for trick-or-treating!) and then again for a wonderful Christmas month experience. The Christmas lights have to be seen to be believed! Many area churches schedule a time slot to sing Christmas carols in the beautiful, old church. The railroad is called the Huckleberry as the original one many decades ago travelled so slowly that the riders could jump off and pick huckleberries and then jump back on! The village sits on beautiful Mott Lake and you can ride old-timey amusement rides and enjoy the view. The merry-go-round is FAST! There is also an old-style ferris wheel. All of the buildings in the village have been brought in from around the area and refurbished, such as the doctor's office, blacksmith shop and general store. It's a great time for all ages!

What a neat place! It is located in the country part of Flint. We visited during the attraction a Day with Thomas. It was wonderful. The staff was very friendly. Loved the old village. The gift shops had great prices!! Also make sure to stop by the ice cream parlor, mint chocolate chip is a must. There are plenty of bathrooms around but they are dated & not the cleanest.
The grounds are beautiful. There is a lot of neat history to learn about! Plenty of parking but it is a dirt lot (lots of mud since it rained)
We would come back here in a heart beat!!

Literally been coming here my entire life. I can remember going on field trips in elementary school to here. Always a great look at the past and imo better the greenfield village. Actually to be completely honest it was Better then Williamsburg VA.

My family (3 parents, 2 grandparents, and 4 children (ages 2-6)) visited Crossroads Village in Mid/Late July. We were immediately impressed by the cleanliness and friendliness of the entire staff. We are used to very nice State Parks from a camping standpoint - and this was our first "county park" experience, so we didn't know what to expect.
The grounds were very well maintained, the entry way to the park was very clean and the ticket-takers were very friendly. We purchased our tickets in advance from the website after being warned of limited train space, but I believe with the colder weather scaring some people off, this was not necessary. Ticket prices (with train) were very reasonable, $13 for adults, $10 for the kids (I think the kids tickets are a touch high.) We did bring in our own food, so I do not know about the food prices.
The "town" itself is a very accurate portrayal of towns of this era, and it all looks like one would imagine it did in its prime. Every building had period actors that were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in their back stories, and were very willing and eager to sit and talk with you. It was very easy to imagine that you were visiting a town in the 1800s.
The highlight of the trip, of course, was the Huckleberry Railroad. This train is a full-size, coal-fired steam engine (#464) that takes you on a 40min excursion out through the county park property. The trip is "narrated" by a very friendly conductor that usually resides in the caboose. (The caboose is open to the public - but you must arrange it early with a conductor as seats are limited.) There are several historic cars to ride in, some indoors, some out, and some with padded seats, some with wooden seats. We rode in one of the cars with wooden seats, and were not at all uncomfortable. Most gravitate to the padded seats, so we actually had the entire car to ourselves! The trip was the highlight of the day for the kids - and was very relaxing and memorable for the adults. (Though we did not have any need, the entire park is very wheelchair accessible, including the train.)
There is also a steampaddle boat that runs on the nearby lake, but it was down (repairs?) while we visited, so I cannot speak to that. All in all, a very enjoyable visit, and a wonderful day. I can most certainly see our family returning in coming years.

I was here as a kid, but do not remember much. My Dad loved trains, so while we rode the train this time, I thought of him (past away from cancer over 3 years now.)
The flower beds walking up to the entrance and by the track crossing look nice. I really love seeing the Milkweed plants in there. Monarch Butterflies depend on Milkweed to breed.
The train ride was a lot of fun. The attention to detail when they made the train cars looks nice. One thing I thought was odd: the doors on both ends of the passenger cars were open to get on board, but not closed before the train moved. The doors were swinging freely as the train went, until they slammed shut. Why didnt an employee close them, or why didnt they secure them open, or tell us to close them? Didnt seem too safe. They made a big deal out of using the windows because they are old and heavy.
The employees acting in the buildings were nice and informative. The printer and blacksmith stood out this time.
A bunch of buildings have upstairs areas, but they are off limits. Kind of a bummer. One employee mentioned safety issues due to stairs. The theater has many steps going up to it, and it is used daily. A few buildings you barely walk into the door and you can not go further. Can't see much that way. Bummer.
I really like the old furniture, barbershop/doctor tools. The small area with live animals seems not needed. Out of place for what it is. It is not a petting zoo. No feeding the animals. A few goats, alpaca, a miniature horse, a potbelly pig, rabbits, and sheep are there. I'm a big animal lover, but just looked and kept walking to more old buildings. Didn't even take pictures of them.
Overall, it was interesting and I learned things. They need more food choices. Mostly bar style food: burgers, fries, junk food. Small ice cream parlor needs redecorating. Need vegetarian and vegan options. Non-dairy ice cream. Healthier options! Please!

This is a great place to take the kids. It takes you back in time and shows you how people lived in the past. Our kids loved all of the old buildings. They really enjoy the toy shop and seeing all of the old wooden toys. They really liked the magic show also. There are a few rides in the back of the property. The carousel goes pretty fast. Overall a great place to spend an afternoon. If you can go at Christmas time this is definitely worth it. It looks amazing all lit up with the Christmas lights. The train ride is also a lot of fun for the kids and they can't stop talking about riding an actual train.

Crossroads Village is not an actual town, but was assembled on former farmland by moving in historical buildings. They did a great job in re-creating the feel of an early 20th Century town. Blacksmith shop, bank, barber shop, one-room school, hotel, opera house, stores and many others. Vehicles are parked outside the village area so as to preserve the effect.
Some of the buildings are wooden, some brick, all painstakingly moved on site and restored. Staff members are costumed appropriately, based on both the era and the occupations they represent. Crafts and trades people engage in their occupations and are friendly as they answer questions.
Their is an antique train ride and a boat ride, but the highlights for many are the two C.W. Parker rides - supposedly the only place to see two Parkers together. The first is a 1910 Parker Ferris wheel. The other is a 1912 Parker carousel. Both have been meticulously restored and rides are available.
This village has appeal across the board - kids, parents and grandparents. Well worth a detour if you are in the Flint area.

We've been to Crossroads a few times now but this was our first time visiting during the Christmas season. We were reluctant because of the cold weather, but were pleased to see that many of the attractions take place inside the village buildings and houses. The lights on display really put you in the Christmas spirit - there are many to see and marvel at. I'd recommend walking round the village to enjoy the lights rather than taking the tractor ride - you can see everything better and have time to take it in without being subject to the cold wind blowing in your face when riding the tractor. The Huckleberry Railroad did not disappoint, as it was great to see the Christmas version of what we had enjoyed during the past Halloween trips. I'd recommend getting to the Village when it opens. We were running short on time and didn't get to see the play being featured in the town theater. Maybe next year.

Every Christmas we go, is a very cool place to go, good food, very fun people, and beautiful light. make sure to book early to ride the train.

This is a nice place to take the kids to see what things were like back when. I also recommend taking the train ride especially in the winter during the time when they are open for Christmas.

We took our 4 year old grandson and had a great evening although the weather was dreadful...slushy rain. He is a huge fan of the "Polar Express" and this was a good substitute. If you are looking for the 'real" experience find a train that is authorized to use the name. We had no hot chocolate or elves at the North Pole but a wonderful 40 minute ride through loads of colorful and animated lights. Our grandson loved the Christmas Carols on the train and the conductor was fun! the train was dry and warm. The authentic steam engine and its whistle are perfect!
Did not spend much time roaming in the village because of the weather. The train store should have a working train set up. It also would have been great if someone had told us the times of the short performance at the opera house so we could have planned accordingly. We did not visit Santa but I am sure he was delightful too.

If you haven't taken the time or missed this for some reason make it a priority next Christmas season. If you can be there earlier you can visit some of the village shops. Don't miss the show in the opera house. It's free always and really family friendly. Younger children like to ride the train but get your tickets for the train in advance as they sell out quickly.

We were looking for a way to celebrate Christmas as a family in a different way.We did the Christmas Train ,lights, dinner and village on Dec.13th.
The gates opened at 4:00 for the village. We had dinner reservations at 5:00 and train ride at 7:00.We brought our tickets ahead of time and made reservations at that time.It was a good thing we did as it was announced at 4:00 that all trains were sold out for the evening.'
The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is like a walk back in time to tour the village. We entered the village when it opened at 4:00.(Check times as this was a special time for winter and Christmas). We walked around the village and the kid visited Santa. We went to the buffet restaurant at 4:50 and they seated us at 5:00.They had a table of 18 with two highchairs all set up.The buffet was set up to serve 4 lines, so it moved quickly. The food was plentiful and tastie. There were self-serve drinks of coffee, water and soft drinks. The dinner buffet included Chicken, ham, potatoes, salads, meatballs and noodles, mac and cheese. They had a desert table set up with a good selections of sweets. The food pretty good for a buffet serving a lot of people.
We had time after dinner to continue walking tour of village. By then the lights were all on it was quite spectacular. We made it to the merry-go-round and ferris wheel. There is added cost to ride these but very responsible. We then headed up to train ride.We were told to be there to board by 6:40 for 7:00 train. We got there at 6:40 and most had boarded. We didn't think we would get to sit together but they had one whole train car empty just for us.It was perfect. The train is heated and very warm. The ride is fun with sign along music, some history of Huckelberry Railroad, and of course the lights. We had kids aged 2-12 and they all enjoyed the ride.I would recommend this everyone. It is easy to find and lot's of free parking.

We took my grandson to visit Crossroads Village and the Huckleberry Railroad. He loved the train ride, the toy shop and the barber shop, and proclaimed the carousel the most awesome ride ever. We enjoyed the flowers, the animals, the Ferris Wheel and the Genesee Belle. The church, school house and doctor's office were other favorites. I recommend visiting Crossroads Village during all seasons as each has so much to offer.

Our family (with all adult children) has been doing this for several years. This year we even brought 85 yr old Grammy and she loved it! The train ride is a bit cheesy but it's fun and silly AND tradition. We love grabbing a little hot cocoa and kettle corn too. Oh and don't forget the Christmas melodrama in the theater. All in all, a great place for all ages!

Went last year with our grandchildren. Love looking at the old buildings and buildings. Lots of places to sit and rest and to eat.

Such a cool place for a wedding! We enjoyed rides on the very fast carousel, and walking around the village was very fun. My favorite aspect of the village was the farm and vegetable gardens.

EXCELLENT. OUTSTANDING. DO-NOT-MISS, that is with the ever Big IF, IF you like fun outdoor parks with many things to see and to do. The Charles W. Parker Carousel is a DO-NOT-MISS. The Genesse Belle Paddle Wheel Boat ride is a DO-NOT-MISS. The Huckleberry Railroad is a DO-NOT-MISS. The Village is a DO-NOT-MISS.
One caveat. My wife and I are disabled and are not able to walk long distances. There can be considerable walking involved in the village. When we purchased our entry ticket, Dawn, at the ticket booth, could see with our canes and walker that we were not able to walk long distances. Dawn told us to drive our vehicle back to where the Genesse Belle Paddle Wheel Boat is docked and to park there. Bingo. The Carousel is immediately closeby and we were able to walk to it and to ride it. The Carousel staff provided us with step stools to help us mount and dismount our horses.
Nice memories of the venue and of the staff members.

Went to crossroads village on December 22, 2013 right in the middle of the great ice storm. Decided to take part in the buffet to start our evening. The warm enviroment and excellent food made for a nice begining. Plenty of choices for drinks, soda, milk and cofee. Ice cream, cookies and cake for desert while there was plenty for the main course, salads, fruits, veggies it was very nice. went to the general store for a quick visit before watching the holiday show in the playhouse.
the show was nice and a good way to get out of the rain and ice. Took the opportunity to see Santa and walk around the village for a time before getting on the train. The ride was nice with plenty of good holiday music and singing. Nice break from the holiday hurries. Highly recommend visiting especially during christmas. Can't wait to make another visit.

Took our grandson for train and boat rides along with a tour of the village today and he loved it. Had been here with him at Christmas and he was in awe. The grounds were less crowded today and there were a number of families with small children.
The staff were super friendly and the place was beautifully maintained. Would like to go back for the Thomas the Train week end but I understand it is super crowded. This is a perfect spot for families with young children. Lots of places to picnic too.

Very nice, clean, fun place to take kids. The ride on a steam railroad is fun for kids and adults. The historic village is just big enough to entertain but not overwhelm.

Coming back to this place with my Kids, brought so many memories back from visiting when I was a kid. The staff are helpful, the steam saw mill was a hit as was the real train ride! This place is always fun for the whole family. I cannot wait to come back with my now 3 and 9 year olds!

We went to Crossroads Village because it was close to the hotel but it turned out to be a hidden gem. The train ride gave us a real feel for rail travel back in the 1800s (be very grateful for the options we have today). The carousel and ferris wheel rides were also a lot of fun. The boat ride was ok but I wish there had been some narrative as to the history of the place and what we were seeing. The apple cider press demonstration was also very interesting.

Great place to visit. It's like stepping in the past. Been going here since I was young. Holidays are always decorated and looks so festive. Worth the visit if you are in the area. Fun for kids and teens of all ages. Adults will love the history and old fashioned atmosphere. The staff is always so friendly and always have a smile for you. Take a ride on the carosoul or train for a full experience.

great around christmas time. We rode the train, many light displays along the train ride. We saw a short play as well as a reindeer in one of the stables. The entire village had lights and things to see.

My friend and I went to ladies night out. It was the best time. The train don't run that night but you can get your picture taken on the caboose. The village is decorated for Christmas. The cost is very reasonable for the wonderful time you will have with your girlfriends out.

We had our wedding here in September 2015. It was everything we had ever wanted. We loved the staff. The process was so simple. It was a destination wedding right here in Flint. We had Camelot farms come for a horse drawn carriage. Our ceremony was in the chapel and our reception in the hall. We even had a barbershop quartet come our to sing while cocktail hour was going on. On top of all of that we rented the carasol for all the guests! It was perfect. Pictures are breathtaking. The best part was the staff. They were so friendly, and helpful. They were very accommodating. The catering was fantastic, everyone raved about the food! I 100% recommend this location for your event!

the city...the tree of lights...the little houses...the kids loved the train so much they wanted to go again, this has started a yearly family christmas trip. If you have never gone its a must do for Michigan people.

Very interesting and educational. We enjoyed the history and liked the sawmill in action, and the encampment with live rifle firing. we didn't ride the train but it looked fun.

We had a fantastic time riding the train at Crossroads, also walking around the village. All the buildings are from histories sights around Genesee county. This ia a wonderful place to spend the day. Great for children and adults.

In Crossroads Village, a nineteenth century place, there are many historic buildings relocated from other parts of Genesee County including a bank, a doctor's office, a blacksmith, a gristmill, a cider mill, a 1912 Parker Carousel, and a big riverboat which cruises around Mott Lake. The gem is the steam engine locomotive which takes you on a forty minute ride through lovely meadows and woodlands.. Since Crossroads Village is a Genesee County Park there is a sweetness, friendliness and no pressure to buy or to do anything, just enjoy the visit. No car traffic in the park so even small children can run free safely.

Second year for us - can't wait until next year! The lights, the music, entertainment, shopping, food and crafts are worth the drive for us.
And Santa ... you MUST have your picture taken with Santa on the train.

We love trains and visited this before in the summer. But at Christmas???? Wow! A stellar place. Everything from the lights to the buffet dinner to the music, the train, just everything was perfect. Will plan on going again!

We enjoyed the train ride, the village, and the halloween theme that Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad embody during the season. I wish we could be around for Christmas, as I'm more than confident that it would be the place to visit to get into the holiday season.

Great place to visit during the holidays. Lights are nicely done. Train ride was fun for both my 2 year old nephew and my 16 year old daughter. There are carolers, cute shops, historic buildings, a carousel from the early 1900s, and a historic Ferris wheel. Definitely recommend.

We took our six kids (four boys and two girls, ages 17 to seven) for something to do in the afternoon. Because we don't live all that far away, I bought the family membership, and I am glad I did. We got to walk around the park and look at all the old buildings from long ago. Also, we rode the Genesee Belle and the Huckleberry Railroad. We all had a great time, AND we can come back as often as we want for a whole year.

take a step back in time. Crossroads is a great day outing for the entire family. We take our grand children often. They love riding the train and visiting the old buildings where they learn about our history.

I visited here most recently with my daughters to attend Vintage in the Village, an event with crafts & vintage items for sale. We also explored the village buildings & shops. We had a great time & will definitely go again. They do a few events like this each year. We've also been to Christmas at Crossroads event which is really nice too.
Having fun
I really enjoyed myself with my son who is 6 years old. It was his first time coming and he enjoyed the rides. I would bring him again when I come back to visit.
