My Goodness!!!! Where do I start??????
My Husband and I went up into the Mountains heading towards Brevard, NC. We stopped at a Gem Mine along the way and their pumps were broken. We got to Brevard and started walking around the town. The town was having the White Squirrel Festival. We looked at a map we picked up and the Crystal Mountain Gem Mine was a street over from where we were. I have always wanted to do this and we got a big bucket and started finding all kinds of Gems and Fossils. We had alot of fun doing it. As we were going through our sand/Gem bucket, Liz would check up on us, telling us what were finding. When we finished, Chris helped us by cracking open our Geode Rock. It was beautiful inside!!!! Chris informed me that I had something else very special which I though it was an end of a bolt!!! It was a prehistoric shrimp that came before the Dinosaurs! I couldn't believe it. I picked two treasures out and beautiful Madeline Newman preceded to make two beautiful necklaces which I have already worn. I can not stress enough the most wonderful experience, a must for family fun and education. Beautiful rocks of all sorts are in their store. Just beautiful items for sale. I have crossed the first thing off my bucket list. The next is Ziplining!!! June also was the sweetest.... she held our items and took care of anything we needed to make sure our special day ended as nice as it started. Thank you EVERYONE!!!! We will highly recommend your business to others. What a wonderful time we had!!!!

We brought our 3 grand babies done the $160.00 bucket we had so much fun the girl named June was awesome she helped identify the rocks and was so sweet great personality. She really knew her rocks we will definitely be back

The coolest store I’ve ever been in and I’ve been all over the world! We got beautiful stones, a old school compass, and a beautiful Larimar ring! Thanks Holden and Liz!

We visited on Friday 9/17 with our kids who are 13 (girl) and 9 (boy). Our guide was Liz and she was fantastic. We followed her recommendation and the kids could not have had more fun sifting through the dirt and finding the copious amounts of gems hidden within. After we were done Liz took the time to go through all the gems with the kids. My daughter, who is into crystals and gems anyway, was completely mesmerized. This is a very fun family experience and a great way to spend some time while in Brevard.

We chose to drive 30 minutes from where we were staying to go to this gem mine based on other user reviews. I’m very glad we did. We wanted something to do that was fun for the whole family, particularly our 3-year-old son. I can honestly say that in the end I may have had as much, or even more fun, than he did.

It’s always a treat to come across people that are passionate about what they do. The folks at Crystal Mountain Gem Mine are great because it is just obvious they love the whole process of how a gem comes to be what it is. They are very knowledgeable about the science, history, geology, and everything else that goes into how these little rocks become something so unique. They will explain why something is rare, where it comes from, and even how ancient cultures valued them.

I wasn’t expecting any of that. I just wanted to have some family fun and maybe find some neat gems. I was blown away by the whole experience. Holden was the employee that spent time helping us out, explaining the background of the gems, and ensuring we all learned something. The manager at the front desk was also great in explaining the process, helping us choose which buckets to purchase, and what our expectations would be. We found some really nice gems also. I guess that’s the biggest takeaway for me. Even had we not found anything it would have still been a great experience.

It’s just nice to know that there are places like this out there. These guys strive for excellence in what they do, and it really does make your experience a memorable one. They want you to learn something, and what is better in this world than that? We will be back.

My family loves to go here and when our grandchildren come to visit we take them there so they can do some gem panning.

My husband and I were in Brevard for the day and we decided to go to the Crystal Mountain Gem Mine after reading all of it's good reviews. It did not disappoint. We bought the "Green Giant" bucket and found all kinds of good stuff. There were rubies, a sapphire,an emerald, amethyst, and a very large geode which Liz cracked open for us on site. Holden and Liz then explained about all of the gems and fossils we found. We loved Holden's enthusiastic personality and the knowledge he had about all the gems. We had so much fun and it was something different to do on vacation that also allows you to take home some interesting souvenirs. We would definitely recommend this place for a fun time!

We had such a blast here! Tons of fun and June was amazing. We learned so much from her and she made our experience that much more memorable. I highly recommend coming here at least once, fantastic choice of things to do in Brevard!

We had a wonderful time with the family package gem mining! Great value, we were very pleased with the amount of stones included. Staff Liz & Holden were fantastic, great with my daughter and answered questions very knowledgeably.

We stopped in with our grandsons last Saturday and had the best experience. Holden taught them how to mine for gems and they were hooked! They shared a bucket & we’re thrilled to find treasures. Holden very knowledgeable and clearly loves what he does.

Crystal Mountain Gem mine is a good stop for famiies with children. It is not all that different from other stores that sell stones, geodes, rocks and jewelry made from them but it would be fun for children. they would love to look at the all the neat things and the salt lamps are especially cool. The staff very good and knowledgable.

Came in with 2 active boys who were completely enchanted with the treasure mining all afternoon. Holden was incredibly attentive and friendly and made us all feel welcome. Even during a busy time for the store when he was juggling multiple customers he was engaging and made the kids feel really special. Cannot recommend this spot highly enough. Hopefully you’re lucky and come in when Holden’s there!

While visiting the area in February 2024, Myself, wife, sister in law and niece happened upon this cool shop/museum/gem mine in Downtown Brevard NC. They will sell you a bucket of dirt and let you sift through it in a water sluice. Liz was there on the day we came in to give it a try. Liz was wonderful, explaining the whole works and hooking us up with a big bucket of treasure filled dirt. She checked up on us frequently while we sifted through it all. In the end Liz went through all the beautiful and maybe valuable stones we came up with and identified every one of them, bagged them while separating the precious from the semi precious. She even helped us crack a cool geode that we found in our bucket. The store is a wonderful place to look around and buy some treasure. We had a great time here. Thank you Liz for your knowledge and patience. Highly recommend.

Hiking around Brevard is spectacular. And yet, one of the high points of our visit to this area is the Crystal Mountain Gem Mine. The grandkids LOVE IT. You can pan for gems, find wonderful, gem-inspired gifts, and learn about different rocks/gems from knowledgeable staff like June. A must stop for every visit to the area.

Frequent visitors to the area, we were looking for something to do before camp pick up. Holden was attentive, helped us identify our rubies, emeralds, garnets, sapphires, beautiful amazonite and geodes. For the price, we couldn’t have had more fun in Brevard. You can only peruse O.P. Taylor so many times.

Emily & June were amazing! Emily was so sweet & June came around and was so knowledgeable with all the gems we asked about! 10/10 recommend.

This place was in downtown Brevard off of the main street and it was SO cool. My kids (and the adults) loved it! We bought a really big bucket and shared it and panned for gems. We got lots of cool stuff- Amethyst, emerald, ruby, geode and many more. Cory and Liz patiently helped us identify everything. We had a great time wandering through the store and looking at their facinating collections. Perfect for a rainy day, or just any day! When we got home, we bought a tumbler and are now tumbling our cool finds. Super fun experience that led to a new hobby!

Holden was our guide on a great gem mining experience.
He was very knowledgeable of all things gems and fossils for my granddaughters, my wife & I.
The shop is wonderful with some exhibits and merchandise wonderfully displayed.
This is a must visit if you have children or for adults looking for a beautiful gift.

My 6 year old was so excited to go gem mining for host first time and this place was perfect. Chris and all of the staff were so kind and knowledgeable. We splurged for the green bucket and highly advise you do as well! The overall prices were great also. Really it’s a wonderful shop!! We look forward to visiting the shop again!

Four of us adults had a blast today at Crystal Mountain Gem Mine! The young man working there, Holden, was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Totally recommend spending time in this awesome shop! Beautiful jewelry too!!

Great shop, many unusual, and unique items. June was very helpful and provided a coupon for the gem mining. We took the grand children and Purchased a small bucket for each of them and they really enjoyed mining for the gems. Great selection of gems were found. Highly recommend this activity. Be prepared, they may get a little dirty while mining.

Visited today, June 12, 2021. Got the precious stone "bucket". Manager Holden and the other worker whose me I can't remember we're awesome. They're super helpful and friendly. We got lots of precious and semi precious gemstones and lots of fun. We're even having one of the saphires cut into a cab which they'll mail to us. Great shop, great people, great fun.

Stopped by just to look at crystals and gems. The young man working there was very pleasant and helpful. It's a cool store to just stop in and look around.

Fun little trip to see what gem mining is all about. The person running the store at the time was very helpful, engaged, and funny. His name was Kyle I believe. Found some cool rocks and gems. We plan on returning next time we are in the Asheville area and seeing what else we might find. This is a great place for all ages and has a lot of interesting items to look at too.

Second the notion in earlier review that "Holden is the man." Have a party there for any age -- I had a bunch of 16 year old boys there for the last stop in a birthday scavenger hunt. Rare find to get service like this nowadays. Put it on your Bervard "bucket list" and it will become family favorite. I don't ususally write reviews unless something is really good or really bad -- this is the good variety.

Enjoyed meeting June, she's the best at giving advise on gem stones, and knowledgeable on the best local eaterys!! It was my pleasure to take time shopping at this store, it has gift's of all types and affordable. Thanks a bunch June!!

We had a family vacation a couple of weeks ago and the whole experience at Crystal Mountain was phenomenal. Our 8 year old loved it as well as our teenager.

So much fun, some education and lots to look at and explore. (and cool stuff to buy)

The "mining for gems" experience was so much fun and for a very reasonable amount of money.

Perhaps most noteworthy was the customer service and friendliness of Holden and Liz. You just don't see this kind of love and ownership of employees too often. Was super thankful for how they treated our family and loved how they wanted us to have a great experience.

Great place for anyone interested in gems/rocks. Indoor gem mining was a huge plus as the day we went was cold and raining. Kids had a great time and found a bunch of fantastic gems. June and Liz were super helpful and friendly. Made the experience even better. Highly recommend.

We took our nieces and nephew there and they had a blast sifting through their bucket of sand and finding gemstones. No diamonds, but pretty ones, though! Yes, there were plenty to find and they each filled up a little bag. The shop has lots of polished stones and rocks of all kinds and we adults found it very enjoyable and educational, too. June and Cory were really helpful in explaining how to use the sieves and water stream to find the stones and without a doubt, a not too pricey outing and a must do in Brevard if you've got kids!

we have been visiting this shop since our children were preschool aged and they love it more with each passing year! I love how helpful they are and how knowledgable they are about geology and mineralogy. My girls have learned so much there! This past time we went one associate in particular, Holden, was so very helpful and kind to my youg kids. We will definitely be going back!

My aunt and I stopped by this place and had a blast! Abby was incredible in greeting us, describing the buckets, and analyzing each rock I had in my collection!

It was pretty generous of her to spend time telling me what each rock was and then fawning over the tiny ones! The store was huge and well decorated with descriptions on each stand. I highly recommend stopping by here for a solo or group activity! Thank you, Abby!

I absolutely LOVE gem hunting and hit up almost all of the area ones in this most recent trip. I really liked Crystal Mountain. Holden was especially helpful and knowledgeable. I found a lot of great gems and plan on returning!

Such a fun, engaging place to celebrate a birthday! Holden was amazing with the kids and very easy to work with!

I was traveling on vacation by myself and stopped in here because I love gem stores. Holden was the associate working and I told him I had just bought a gold pan but didn’t know how to use it. After watching him interact with another group of people there, I bought the “mother load” bucket and Holden showed me how to do the bucket but also took the time to show me how to use my gold pan. I was probably here for at least an hour and it was absolutely one of the highlights of my trip. I make jewelry out of gems and stones and will triple or quadruple the amount of money that I spent on the “mother load” bucket. I walked away with three full sandwich bags full of large jams that would’ve cost me at least $10-$15 each to purchase individually. Holden even spotted two sapphires that had dropped on the ground that I thought were just black rocks but when he held them up to the light they were red. I had so much fun here and I will definitely be back and highly recommend to go visit this very cool little store. Even if you’re just looking to buy gems, the prices are almost half of what I would pay at a very similar store in the state that I live in. Thank you Holden!! I had a blast!

I brought my wife and son (8 years) in for the second time a few days ago and once again, the service was spot on. Everyone we've interacted with here has been focused on seeing to it that our son, and ourselves, have a wonderful time!

I used to be an old rock hound when I was young, thought it would be a neat thing to share along with my son, and this is a new favorite every time we come to Brevard, which we expect to do once more in a few weeks. We purchased the 'big honk's tub' for the second time and once again, it did not disappoint. Fossils, sapphires, ruby, amethyst, not one but two geodes and so much more! You'll find value regardless of what size tub you decide to do, but know the big dawg is worth it!

In addition to their already great selection, they have recently added a new section that has some more museum quality pieces which is a very nice touch! Regardless if you have kids, this is a must stop while visiting, but if you're not close by, do yourself a favor and make the track!

Great atmosphere! The two girls working were amazing. Very knowledgeable about the stones and always checking in to see if you need anything or curious about what something was.

Holden was very friendly and professional. Got to know a little bout him while he showed me what to do exactly. I just got the small bucket, just for the experience. He gave me a great idea to create a keepsake with my gems. I grabbed a couple stickers and used his idea...but bought a bucket instead of a mason jar. I also grabbed some items for my kids to bring back to them. My son loved the lucky rabbits foot as I predicted. Definitely will visit on my next trip and try a bigger bucket lol.

Emily was so well versed in any questions i had to ask! She showed me around the whole store! She was so kind and helpful in what to get!! I love her and will be cominf back because of her! She deserves a raise

What a fun day! The staff (June) & the guy who cut our geodes were so very nice & helpful. Makes all the difference to us. There were 9 of us ages 68 to 5. Everyone loved it. And the store was beautiful with lots to look at & buy.

This trip was amazing, I managed to get a bunch of gorgeous rocks, I went with my boyfriend and we both halved a geode. Cory was an amazing help identifying the gems and assisting us with what we needed. I will definitely be coming back again.

Took my mom for a trip to Brevard and stopped in to see the shop. Decided to buy a Big Green Bucket for us to share! We were like two kids having so much fun. Micah was Amazing! He took the time to help us identify all the stones we found. He went above and beyond to assist us. He even took the time to help my mom try on several pieces of jewelry, which she ending up purchasing. Wonderful place to stop/shop and have an Amazing Time!

My wife and I stayed in nearby Hendersonville for a long weekend. We stopped in Brevard for lunch at Rockys and then went across the street to go mining. I’m descended from Welsh coal miners and always thought it was a tough existence.
Well, mining, at least the Crystal Mountain Gem Mine way, is not too bad.
Crystal Mountain Gem Mine has an indoor sluice way! Yep. Water running down a wooden trough-like thing. Holden brought our first bucket and with some quick instruction we were perfecting our panning skills and “unearthing” rubys, sapphires, emeralds, and agate! There was even a geode in the second bucket, which Holden cracked open for us.

Ok. It’s not real mining. The buckets are “stocked” with everything you find. But it’s AMAZINGLY fun!

When we had emptied our second bucket, we showed great restraint and stopped. Holden spread our cache on the counter and identified each mineral and told us the approximate ages and the geologic processes that formed them. Wow.

Holden was the true awesomeness of our visit. He couldn’t of been more patient or knowledgeable and he seemed to share our giddy excitement. I thought so much of Holden that later that evening when my wife and I were thinking about dinner, I called Holden at the mine for a local’s restaurant recommendation.

In addition to mining the shop has all sorts of interesting stuff, like polished rocks, arrow heads, and fossilized shark teeth.

Very different kind of fun and well worth the trip.

The gentleman assisting us (Kyle, I believe) was nothing short of a first-class individual. He was helpful finding the right experience and products for our family and helped our 8 and 10-year-old kids have a great time. The 2 buckets were full of large gems and stones (compared to 2 other experiences we have had at other locations). He also had loads of knowledge when asked about a number of the gems in the store.

Such a Awesome place to go with your family or just a date! Staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. We learned a lot in a short time! Faith was Wonderful! We definitely want to come again!!!

In this span of my trip I've been in twice and the employees were super sweet and helpful! It's not terribly expensive and the products are amazing! I got crystals, a rabbit foot, and a small bag whereas my brother got a ring and I can say it's one of the only things we've bought this week that we haven't regretted. Holden, the employee working there, was extremely helpful and incredibly nice! I could stroll the store for forever, though I unfortunately did not have the time for that today. I would recommend this to just about anyone! Thanks for such an incredible experience!

One of the highlights from our weekend visit to Brevard was an adventure at the Gem Mine. All 3 of my children (ages 6, 10, 14) loved sifting for gems; and Holden was so patient in explaining to my children the types of gems they got. He also gave us good advice on what to do with the gems when we got home. I have been to several of these types of establishments, and this one was the best! Very organized and super fun for all ages. I can tell this will be a regular activity for us on our future visits to Brevard.

Abby and June were the most fun hosts! I brought my family from Michigan— kids ages 8,8,9, and 13 and they had a blast! They even found a Geode in their mining bucket. When the girls cracked it open, the kids screamed with excitement. Thank you for the great memories!

We had such a great time at Crystal Mountain Gem Mine today. We got the $65 green bucket to split between the 4 of us and got some beautiful stones, including a huge piece of amethyst and a huge geode that our awesome store clerk, June, broke for us. It worked out great, because the way it broke we will each get a piece of the geode to take home. She was very knowledgeable about the types of stones we each uncovered.

The store has a big variety of stones at different price points. There's something for all age groups here. Thank you, June, for being an awesome host today; we will definitely hope to be back again!

My sister always loved coming here so I had to try it for myself when I was back in town and can say I was not disappointed. June and Chris were working that day and they were so helpful and friendly. June spent lots of time going over all the different rocks with us, explaining the differences and how they are formed. And Chris was so helpful with cracking our geodes for us. He even managed to break one of my massive geodes into 4 giving my 2 beautiful portal stones.

All four of the kids (19, 14, 11, 2) had a great time mining for gems! Holden was extremely knowledgeable and readily answered our questions about our finds. We found a large geode in our mining bucket which he cut open for us in the shop. There are also lots of interesting finds in the retail part of the store. It was a great experience and we’ll definitely come back if we’re in Brevard again.

Sisters and I had a blast here! We bought the 5-gallon bucket of sand and shared it among us and we all got some really cool gems! Liz was super helpful with the gem ID and cracked the geodes open for us :) Highly recommend for the entire family!

We’ve been here multiple times and it’s always a highlight for us and our kids (4 and 6 years old). The kids love the finding the gems in the sand and we love looking at all the interesting items in the store. Holden and Liz are usually working and they are both awesome. They can answer all of our questions about the various rocks and they make it a fun experience for the kids. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area!

Holden and Chris were incredible hosts. Genuinely friendly and they created a magical experience for our 10 and 7 year olds. Highly recommended.

I didn’t expect to like gem mining as much as I did - and what made it better was how helpful and attentive the staff was! Liz answered all our questions and took time to explain what each gem was. It also has the coolest shop full of gems and fun related items. We will definitely be back on our next trip this way!

Visited Crystal Mountain Gem Mine in Brevard, NC with my nephews and had a blast! The store manager, Holden, was super friendly and really great with my nephews. It’s really difficult to express just how terrific our visit to Crystal Mountain Gem Mine was. We’ve been to many gem mines over the years as our kids grew, but this one was by far the best experience of them all, exceeding expectations on all fronts. Holden was our resident gem expert and he was certainly a wealth of information. Holden told us that he’d been with Crystal Mountain Gem Mine for several years and his knowledge was evident of that. He’s truly passionate about his role there and I hope the his business owner and/or managers realize just how much of a gem they have in him. Holden took time to review our little treasures, offered assistance when needed, and packaged up everything for safe travels home. Without Holden I suspect this might have like every other trip to a gem mine. We will absolutely return to Crystal Mountain Gem Mine the next time we’re in Brevard.

This was a fantastic experience. It was about $75 for a large bucket to share with a local coupon but worth every penny. Kids and adults enjoyed digging, cleaning off and finding the treasures. The man who worked there was very knowledgeable about the gems and rocks and was patient and kind. There is a restroom on site and free parking on the street. Great for a rainy day activity too.

The young man who was running the shop was so helpful in explaining what different stones were were as well as their potential spiritual connection if you were interested. There was no pressure just knowledge

This was such an enjoyable experience! I went solo and really got into the spirit of digging and discovering all the beautiful gems in my bucket. If you are a crystal collector, this is not only fun but also a very economical way to increase your collection. Also, the collection of crystals and items you can purchase outside of the mine are extensive, beautiful and reasonably priced. Holden, the manager, was so personable and helpful and really added to the experience. I plan to go back soon with a few friends!

I grew up traveling to the area and remember Gem Mining as a kid. I wanted to take our 3 year old and we were not disappointed. It is indoors, which is nice, especially if it is raining. The smallest bucket ($10) was more than enough dirt to sift through for a 3 year old. He loved panning and while you aren't going to get anything of value, he was thrilled with all his "gems". We also cracked a geode for another $10 and he loves that. The staff was kind and helpful. The only downside is that it didn't kill an entire afternoon by any means. Probably 30 minutes when all said and done.

Not only do they have an indoor slice where you can "mine"gems, their selection of available gems for purchase is really nice. I was able to get some stocking stuffers for Christmas and a birthday gift also. Well worth the visit.

Holden was absolutely amazing. My kids are inquisitive and love to chat and he did not miss a beat engaging and interacting with them. The store is just simply awesome as is the setup for the sifting and "mining." My sons found tons of golf ball sized rocks and gems as well as a ton of crystals and fools gold. I admit, it will be pricey for some. But the experience and the good times had were well worth every penny.

Staff went out of their way to help me find a little gift to bring home to my six grandchildren. And we had no trouble finding the perfect gift! Plus couldn't resist the jams and preserves! Truly a little country store that has a little of everything for everyone! Worth the stop!

We had an absolutely amazing time. This is by far one of the best we've been to. We went twice in the same trip and that was due to the knowledge and just all around great personality of Holden. He was able to help us identify and peaked our interest of gem mining. We will definitely be back!!

I absolutely love this place! A few days ago my son and I stopped by and met Micah. They were so friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Answering all our questions as we wondered through the store and took time to show us gemstones that could be found locally. I especially love their selection of labradorite cabochons which I buy to use in my wire wrapped pendants.

This is the second time our family has visited. The kids had a great time looking through the large sales floor and then doing a little mining. The two employees [June and Cory] were absolutely spectacular. They were both extremely friendly and happy to answer the many questions my kids threw at them. Would certainly recommend!

The place is amazing and so is the staff! They were super friendly and helpful! The hardest choice is which bucket to pick once you make it past that’s all you have to do is mine for your gems! I love this place and on my next vacation I will be back for more gem mining!

My sister (60 years) and I (50 years) visited the mine and thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Holden was awesome! He is welcoming, fun and knowledgeable about the stones and rocks. We got one of the bigger buckets and "mined" a few pounds of awesome stones and rocks and a really cool geode.

The whole store is filled with all sorts of wonderful stones, fossils and jewelry too. It is definitely a fun, relaxing way to spend some time and have some cool rock booty to bring home!

What a great experience. Honestly I did not want to do this but got talked into it. But shortly after we started was glad I participated. We found all kinds of cool gems including a large geode that they cracked for us and it was beautiful. Also several very lary ruby and many others. Four adults split the 5 gallon bucket and it was perfect. Liz was great helping us identify the different gems.

Stumbled across Crystal Mountain as we were strolling through the downtown area, and it ended up being the highlight of downtown for us on our girls trip. The owner, Chris, was so helpful and very knowledgeable about gemstones! We got a lot more gems than expected, including emeralds, rubys and more! Highly recommend for any age or group!

Found this great crystal shop and indoor gem mine while exploring downtown Brevard with my family! Cory and Liz were super helpful, knowledgeable and really sweet! We found some unique treasures and then our kids mined some gems. The little bucket was more like a big bucket, they got a ton of cool minerals and gems! Also we loved the dinosaur sculptures and aliens. There was a great selection of fossils as well. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Brevard!

The staff was friendly and showed us what the stones my granddaughter found were. She’s three and loved doing the “mining”. We used a Groupon and saved money! Glad we brought our little girl here! She wants to go back.

WOW! Just WOW! What an establishment! The facility itself, the amazing beautiful products and the absolute fun of mining. However, I feel what truly shines the most outside of the stones is the staff! I took my 3 children in and we had the best time we've had in ages. Even more than discovering such beautiful stones was the beauty of knowledge and patience and information that Holden and Liz provided my kids. They got them more excited about the knowledge and background of each and every stones way more even than just the "shiny" things they discovered, myself as well!!! As rock hounds my wife and I stopped by to sift through a bucket of rocks. We got the green bucket and got a lot of nice rough and a geode. Staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The store was super fun. If stones and gems are your thing this eclectic store is for you. It has an indoor sluice and the size of the stone and gems in their buckets are some of the largest I’ve come across. The staff were great and friendly. We had 3 kids (ages 6-12) who shared a Giant Green Bucket and had fun for almost an hour- first checking out the cool gems and exhibits in the shop, then sifting for gemstones, breaking open a geode, and finally sorting through the gems they found and learning about them from Holden. He was so informative, teaching us about the gemstones and their origins. This experience was an unexpected treat on our trip to Brevard. Highly recommend.

My son-in-law and I took 5 kids to the Crystal Mountain Gem Mind and it was the highlight of our trip. We bought large buckets of dirt with rocks and gems mixed in. There was even a giant geode. The kids panned in the running stream and brought out something new every time. Our wonderful helper, Liz, was able to identify each rock. We had rubies, emeralds, quartz, amethyst, sapphires, amazonite,and lots of beautiful colors that I don't remember. The kids were 5 through 14 and all of them loved it equally. We will definitely return whenever we are anywhere nearby.

Purchased the “Mother Load” $30 bucket, and got a good number of large stones. Peacock Cooper, Amethyst, Jasper, Garnet and a good sized Ruby.

Holden the employee recommended the 5 gallon bucket that included a geode and tons of valuable rocks! My kids had a blast sifting through the dirt to find the gems. Then Holden helped us identify each Rock. Fantastic place to visit if your kids love rocks.

The environment of the shop is beautiful! Showing all sorts of natural minirals nature has to offer. We did some gem mining there and the employees: June and Liz were both very helpful supplying us tools and helping us identify the gems we found!

Took my kids and I on a road trip last week from SC to here! Holden was nothing short of an amazing employee!!! His customer service and knowledge of crystals was impeccable!! Super helpful (and patient) with my kids when they asked every 2 seconds “what crystal is this?” The shop was beautiful, organized, and had a huge variety of crystals!! This was one of the most fun things our family has done in a long time! Not only was finding the gems ridiculously fun, but Holden was a pure delight. We thought he was the owner because he was so knowledgeable and passionate about gems. As it turned out, he manages the store for the owner, Chris, who was also super nice and obviously very knowledgeable about gemstones. Holden took great care to educate us about what we were finding and was genuinely as excited as we were about some of the gems we discovered. We spent a couple of hours there and could have spent a couple more. The price of the buckets was very reasonable. Overall, a great way to spend a few hours doing something everyone in the family will enjoy!!

We decided to check out the "mining" at Crytal Mountain, no kids in tow. We are in our sixties and love gems. This was something we decided NOT to do. You pick your size bucket and start "mining" at a work station. The stones in the bucket are nowhere near worth the cost. All in rough form, if you don't have lapidary tools at home, you end up with a box of rocks. I can see where it may be fun for kids but for adults, its neither worth the time or money.
They also had some overpriced jewelry, fossils and polishd stones for sale.

All in all, skip this and go to a real mine if you want to find something truly special.

We drove an hour and a half just to visit this sweet gem shop for my 8 year old son. We loved the indoor mining experience more than an outdoor mine. My 3 boys had the best time and the hospitality of the gentleman that worked there really made the experience what it was. He was so nice & helpful with our kids. Once we got back to our cabin the first thing our son said was “I want to go back tomorrow!” :) great family memories made! Thank you!

We were just passing through Brevard briefly. It was raining but such an adorable downtown area with lots of lights and people still bustling in and out of the shops. We had read about Crystal Mountain Gem Mine on tripadvisor and thought it sounded fun so we popped in. We were the only ones in the shop and Holden helped us out. We had a great time panning for gems and talking through all of our finds with him. He was very kind and passionate and knowledgable. We were glad to be able to take all our beautiful stones home with us to remember the trip and loved the rest of our stay in Brevard. Would highly recommend for folks with and without kids!

Holden, our host, was extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable about all of the stones we found. He helped with all of our questions and offered up lots of information about how these different gems and minerals would form.

Really enjoyed our time sifting through our big green bucket...sorting and trying to figure out what they were. Everybody (5 of us) ended up with several large gems, including 4 rubies, 2 emeralds and 3 or 4 saphires that are big enough to cut and polish (if you want to)... Lots of other cool looking gems/stones that are big enough to cut or shape (size of two adult fingers on average).

Kids were dying to stop at a gem mine place. This one was close and convenient. Little did we know that it would also end up being such a fun and awesome experience for all. While we went for kids, 14 and 9, the adults enjoyed it just as much. We spent more time there than we ever thought we would. They have beautiful pieces and Hokden was very knowledgeable. I'd never been in here, didn't know what it was. But my brother was visiting and we were taking a tour through town and this was one of our stops. He'd never been in here either. Not sure if he picked up anything but I got a piece of petrified wood.

This is a hands-on experience. I think they had a "sluice" bar where people could "mine" or sift for ores.

I don't think it'll be my last visit.

We annually visit Brevard, but had never been to the mine. After reading 87,651 reviews praising Holden (and, oh yeah, the experience), we took our 18 and our 10 girls. And it was awesome, and we will go again, and yes -- Holden is an incredible host,helper, and teacher!! You get a bucket of sand, strain it bits at a time through a slice, and gather your gems. We got emeralds, rubies, amethyst, jasper, and several others -- and a geode they cracked open on site. Yes, you DO want the green bucket - it's packed. Fun for ALL ages, great learning time, and again -- the millions of reviews praising Holden are spot-on!

I loved taking my kids here. They got to mine for crystals out of a huge bucket and got so many cool crystals and even a Megladon tooth! We loved this place. Bought the large $65 bucket for our 4 kiddos (ages 10-16) to share. They had the best time unearthing treasures. Stopped by here in a Sunday morning right when they opened which was perfect. We beat the crowd. Got the Green Bucket for $65 which was much bigger than we expected. We were there with our almost 2 year old daughter who loves to play in the dirt and this definitely kept her attention for a majority of the time. She was able to dig and transfer the dirt into the screen box, but we did have to keep a close hold of her on the bench so she wouldn’t fall. Our bucket was FULL of all sorts of gems including a geode and a ruby, a couple sapphires and tons of other cool finds. Totally worth the cost. They will also polish and put a stone on a necklace for only $40 which I thought was a steal. We spent about an hour there and had our daughter been willing to not take every rock out of every display, we would have stayed longer to walk around an check out everything we had! Overall a great experience and would go back for sure!

My kids (7 & 3 years old) loved their visit. They didn’t want to leave. They had so much fun splitting a bucket. And they loved wondering the shop and looking at all the cool rocks and critters. Allison and Holden were so kind to my kids, even with all their questions. We went right when they opened and no issues.

PERFECT for kids who love rocks!!! Kids aged 9 and 12 loved this place and we stayed for over an hour exploring. The staff was superb. Cory was like having a big sister to show you all the cool things you found and she knew her rocks!!! The green bucket seemed to be the best value for 2 kids to share. The bucket included a geode (geode cracking tools on site) as well as 20+ cool gems and rocks. Location includes a bathroom, hand washing station, and access to really good restaurants in walking distance. Go here - genius!

We got the green bucket and shared it among four kids and they each had a blast and ended up with a big baggie of stones. We recently visited Crystal Mountain Gem Mine with four adults and six children. Holden was amazing with all the kids, ages 1 to 8. What could have been a quick stop turned into a memorable experience for everyone. We hope to come back on our next trip to the mountains!

We visited Feb 2nd when while in Brevard. Holden was the associate and was very nice and helpful. He showed the kids how to mine the gems and answered all our questions we had about the different stones. This is so much fun for the whole family. We were up in Brevard for a girls weekend. None of us had ever been before. We decided that this would be. Fun activity for us to do and it really was.. the young man who helped us (Holden) was so much fun and helped us with all our many questions!! And I have some beautiful stones to remember our trip by!! We had a blast and would do it again with my grandchildren..

Holden was a fantastic gem guide. I had two very excited little girls and I’m pretty sure they took every single rock to him to be classified.

We purchased the Big Green Bucket and it was well worth the money. We found a geode that we had cracked open onsite, 2 rubies that we will take to be appraised, and possibly some emeralds!

We took our two Grandsons age 10 and 14. The worker there was Holden he was so wonderful. He was very very knowledgeable of all the gems and rocks. He was also very friendly and helpful. Hands down, my kid’s favorite place to visit (and we live here!!) and take friends when they come to visit us. The staff is very friendly, and they offer a lot of fun things/trinkets that are affordable for kids to buy ($1-5).

Grandchildren were in town from the Atlanta area. Holden was very accommodating and took a lot of time to explain the various goodies they found during their gem mining adventure. What a great place for kids and adults too. We are so fortunate in Brevard to have the Crystal Mountain Gem Mine (and Holden) as part of our community.

Very cute store with lots of interesting items for sale and for an activity for younger kids. Staff was very attentive especially Isi who took her time with my undecided granddaughter.

We had a great time! Fun indoor gem mining with TONS of finds! We got the big honkin tub which was split between 5 kids mostly but extra fun for the 4 adults also! June and Liz were great at identifying the rocks! And both were super helpful! Highly recommend!

They ensured that our group had everything we needed to have a successful mining experience. The highlight was definitely the breaking up of the geode that was in our bucket! Came in just looking at getting a few small pieces, very pretty and well organized shop! Ended up buying a labradorite pyramid, a rose quartz tower, and a green bucket. Decent prices!

My kids left, saying they were rich!!! We honestly didn't know what to expect because we were driving to Sliding Rock and looking on maps along the way for a gem mine. We were hoping to find one that was outdoors but stumbled here and we had a wonderful experience. June and Emily were super friendly and got us hooked up with a huge bucket of dirt and sooo many gems. The kids were beyond extactic. They found a geode, megalodon tooth, and sooooooooo much more.

Holden by far. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. He was fun to interact with he mad it the best experience for us. We had a blast!!! Thank you Holden. Excellent time!

My family had a GREAT time! We went to Brevard specifically to go to Crystal Mountain Gem Mine (during the White Squirrel Festival). Their prices are very reasonable and the staff was super friendly. They checked on us throughout our mining and answered all of our questions about the gems. We found a lot of gems and a geode (very cool).

We will definitely go back!!!

Amazing place for your family. June and Cory we're extremely helpful and friendly making our 3 young children comfortable and even more excited to dig in. Both ladies were very informative about the gems we found and our kids loved learning. Our family has been to Gem Mine locations in several states but this will remain our favorite experience. They accept military discount however their prices are already really good. Thank you again Cory and June for the great experience.

VERY cool gem store with variety of fossils. 4 kids (ages 12-20) had great time sifting out the gems. Found a couple of very large rubies.
Couple that were managing store were extremely friendly, and we enjoyed talking with them as much as the kids did finding gems.

The enthusiasm Holden demonstrated while explaining the gems our 6 year old granddaughter discovered was amazing to watch. The instant connection the two made was worth the price alone.

We splurged & got the large green bucket. ($60). Got enough to fill 2 sandwich bag size baggies plus a geode, which was cracked for us. My daughter was most excited about the geode. You can buy just geodes for $10 each. I would go back but would get a small bucket. There was only one person working in the store & it got busy after we arrived. He checked on us once.

First time gem mining and we were hooked. Our guide Holden was knowledgeable and so friendly. He set us up for the experience, answered our questions and even took pictures for us. We found some wonderful gems and learned so much. A great way to spend a rainy afternoon. A must do experience for young and old.

We had a great time with our two 7 year old gem miners finding some large and really pretty gems using the flume. Holden was wonderful with the kids and showed them what to do. The best part was when he gave our miners some good advice and helped them pick out geodes and then cracked them open using "Betsy" (I think that was the name of the tool) in front of the kids. Super cool and you should have seen their faces when they saw the crystals inside! We'll be back next time we're in Brevard to increase the size of their gem collection.

This is an interesting and fun place to visit. It's right on main street. The water trough is indoors and you can sit. Gems are placed in buckets of sand and you have to sift away the sand scoop by scoop to discover what you have. You will walk away with lots of gemstones. Will they all be valubale? Probably not, but take them home and put them in a jar or make some jewelry out of them. Great fun for the whole family. Kids will love it. I only bought a $10 bucket and got plenty of interesting and diverse gems. The owner,who is very friendly, will tell you the names of the stones. I highly reccomend.

This is such a cool shop...lots of gems, minerals and oddities. Super fun to mine a bucket of material in their sifter. I found a large amount of Ruby's, Sapphires and Emeralds. Liz was super helpful in identifying what I had mined. I would recommend this shop to anyone...it's almost like a little museum as well.

We came here for an outing on a rainy day. Our grandson had a ball finding the “pretty rocks.” We got the kids package for him, and he loved the Rocky the Rockhound book and the pictures of the rocks. He spent the afternoon playing with the magnifying glass, looking at all the rocks, then loading them in his play trucks. The guy at the register was very helpful with everything.

We got the large ruby, sapphire and emerald bucket. We ended up with 2 entire Ziploc bags of stones of a large variety! Holden was wonderful! Very helpful and informative! Would recommend this on anyone's trip!

Wow! I really didn’t expect this to be so much fun. My sons and I just moved to Brevard and decided to play tourist for the day. We love gems and crystals and gave the indoor mining experience a try. Kyle hooked us up with a bucket and we had a blast sifting for our treasures. The best part was that Kyle was SO knowledgeable and entertaining. He helped us identify our gems and really made it a great experience. The store is awesome and we found a lot of crystals and gems in our bucket! We had a one-night stay in Brevard in June of this year. After reading so many great reviews of the gem mine, we decided it was worth a visit. At first, I wondered if this was more of a children's activity, but my college-aged daughter, husband and I had so much fun! We split the large bucket and came away with a great assortment of stones, including a large chunk of beautiful purple quartz. Holden was great - personable and friendly, helpful and explained everything found in our bucket. The store was also very nice with lots of interesting stones, rocks, and decor. Would highly recommend for adults and children if spending time in Brevard. And conveniently located in the middle of downtown Brevard.

I recently visited a high-quality gem mining business where the experience was made exceptional by June, who provided excellent hands-on instruction for the kids. Her enthusiasm and dedication shone through as she guided them through the mining process, encouraging them to dig deep for hidden treasures. June even got her hands dirty, demonstrating techniques and expertly breaking open a geode, which left the children in awe of the sparkling crystals inside. This gem mining adventure was not only educational but also a delightful experience that fostered curiosity and wonder, thanks to June's outstanding guidance.

My husband and I visited Crystal Mountain Gem Mine earlier this month and took sooooo many photos as we shopped in the store (I love my mortar and pestle)!! We also had a wonderful time mining for our stones. Definitely a store and an experience for ALL age groups!!!

Back to Barvard and our favorite hidden gem. As always we were met with a friendly face, Holden was super helpful and so knowledgeable about everything in the store. Always worth the trip.

Nice shop. You can buy a bucket for $12. The shop has a water trough and sifting apparatus. Kids sift through the bucket and find about a dozen different kinds of rocks. There are charts to help identify their finds. In addition, the shop had all kinds of interesting rocks, gems, fossils and other objects for sale. The young man who worked there was also very helpful with rock identification. We had two teenagers and two 10 year olds. They had a great time.

My son and I spent the weekend going from Gem Mine to Gem Mine and the level of customer service we received at Crystal Mountain Gem Mine in Brevard, NC was the best customer service I have ever encountered anywhere!
The gentlemen working there are so knowledgeable and helpful. They were engaged with each and every person that came in the door no matter how busy they were. My son made a special connection with Holden who works there. Holden took the time to talk to my son about some issues we have been having at home and gave him some insight that my son really valued . He really he made our visit so amazing that we have been back to visit every time we are in the area.
I would highly recommend this shop over all of the Gem Shops I have visited, not just in the area but in the US.

A great way to spend a few hours. All of the employees are great, especially Holden the manager, there all willing to explain and identify the gems that you found. Great for kids and dog friendly. Also, purchasing crystals there are super affordable. I loved it so much i went two weekends in a row.

We took our 5 yr old and had such a wonderful experience. It was fun mining and we learned a lot from June. June totally made the experience for us, so knowledgeable and courteous. Plus we got a pretty necklace out of one of the gems we found. We went with the 5 gallon bucket.

The artificial river created a unique experience, unlike other crystal stores. From the beginning, the staff created a very welcoming and warm atmosphere. Allison helped my fiancee and I identify the gems that we found while sifting through dirt. She was also a great resource at identifying different types of crystals within the store before we made our purchase.

We had a great time here. My wife and two daughters (7 and 13) really enjoyed all of the cool things to see, and Holden was very knowledgeable about each gem stone we found. We will definitely be going back before we leave.

Walking in, I was skeptical about gem mining in the middle of a town. I looked around the shop and found some nice/neat things. The store was well organized and clean (for dealing in dirt). My wife took care of the bucket purchase and we got to mining. As soon as we started, the store manager, Holden, came over and started working with the kids. The cool part is he was just as engaging with the adults as he was the kids. He’s very knowledgeable of the gem craft and only 20 years old. The kids had a blast exploring their buckets and learning about what they discovered. What I thought would be a 20 minute wham-bam-thank you ma’am ended up being an hour and a half of fun, learning, and excitement. We also had fun with “Geode crackin’ time” and purchased a salt lamp...all at reasonable prices. If you are near Brevard, skip the rest of the “gem mines” and hit up the best. Can’t wait to go back.

Our little group just happened upon this spot and came in to check out some crystals. We soon realized that it had geode cracking and gem mining AND was dog friendly! The staff (Liz and June) were so patient with us. We were moving from activity to activity and asking a bunch of questions. They were so lovely and kind and fun. They have such an incredible selection and local jewelry we couldn’t resist. Just all around a really wonderful time and idk if it was all the crystals in there but HIGH VIBES! Staff was attentive and pleasant. We were there just before lunch and were lucky there were only a few others there. By the time we left it was elbow-to-elbow. Fortunately, our bucket was full of goodies and my nephew had a good time.

This was my first time visiting a gem mine and I enjoyed the experience with with the kids. Sifting the soil and finding gems with every scoop of dirt from the big green bucket seemed to be the best buy!

This was our second visit to Crystal Mountain and it was as great an experience as our first. Holden is kind and patient and answered all my 7 year olds questions, I recommend this to anyone looking for something a little different to do!

Basically put, you are not "mining" for anything. You pay a lot of money for a bucket of sand filled with preloaded gems. There is absolutely no challenge. You are just washing off rocks. I guess if you have little kids then they would like it. We usually go west of Haywood county where you get buckets of soil full of big clumps. The thrill is when you break down one of those clumps and you see a stone. That's the thrill. Sometimes you find something and sometimes you dont. That's what's fun.

Holden was an amazing host that was knowledgeable, informative, and sincere. We are locals that have taken our family to several places like this, but by far, this was the best “mining” experience we have ever had. In a couple days, I’ll be bringing my grand boys here ( I’ll call first to make sure Holden is there)!

We were only in town for the day and wound up spending most of our time in the shop. We got the Big Green Bucket x2 and found more gems than anywhere I've ever been....and that's saying a lot. I have visited most of the shops of North Georgia, Southern NC and Western SC. This place has such a cool atmosphere. Holden was a huge help! He was knowledgeable and super friendly. It's probably a good thing we don't live in this state or we would be in this shop ALL the time! Holden also did a great job helping us select great geodes! We will be back!

Went to crystal mountain gem mine on 4/28/2021. Holden and Quentin were working that day. They are so personable. We did mining that day. How fun. They were so helpful to us in identifying stones we had questions about. They made the whole experience so fun. We winded up spending more at the store than expected. After we got home looking at our treasures, went back on 4/29/2021 and spoke with Hanna. She identified every rock we had in bags. When we come back to Brevard, we will certainly go back. Our girls had such a great time here mining for gems and splitting geodes and picking out souvenirs! Our vacation plans had to change today from hiking to something indoors because of the rain, and we’re glad they did! So fun! Great selection, and Holden (the manager) was awesome! You can tell he loves his job and is great with all the people and the activities.

We travel quite a bit and stop into every gem mine or crystal shop. I have to say of all we have visited, this is our #1! Funny enough, the owner's other location, Elijah Mountain in Hendersonville is our #2 Gem Mine- what are the odds- #3 is their 3rd location in Asheville. What a great family. We met Chris yesterday and we were not only impressed by his friendliness and knowledge but at the shops, GREAT prices, availability and they did not push us to "mine" which you will often find. We meandered through and found some neat crystals/gems/stones we did not have in our collection. If you are hunting for affordable bubble bee jasper- here is your spot! Such a fun thing for kids! I thought it was going to be cheesy and overpriced. I purchased a 5-gallon bucket for my 2 kids to share. They found dozens of great gems and rocks. They were so excited with each gem they found. It's the perfect thing to do on a rainy day or to break up your waterfall hikes in Brevard. June, Liz, and Cory were so wonderful to work with! They helped us identify everything we found.

What a wonderful way to spend time!!! Holden has been great every time, and they make you feel like you got the best bucket EVER!!! The $65 Green Bucket has a geode, and some AWESOME stuff!!! This place is awesome. We are from the upstate of SC and were looking for a fun day trip. My daughters have been begging to go gem mining recently. Crystal Mountain Gem Mining is in downtown Brevard, NC and located right off of main street. You start by buying a bucket of dirt. They have multiple price options and bucket sizes. I thought about going with the family pack which is $99, but the staff member explained that it was probably a larger amount of dirt and gems than my 6 years old could handle. We went with a smaller priced green bucket, which was the perfect size for the 4 of us. We also asked to purchase a gem explanation sheet, and the staff member said for us to just take a picture and save the money. I do appreciate them helping us save money..............most businesses would have been glad to upcharge me to make more money.

Once we got our bucket of dirt, we headed to the water troughs. Each person got a sifter box and a scoop for digging out the dirt. It took us about 45 mins to get through the entire 5 gallon bucket of dirt. My kids were super excited each time they found a new gem or rock.

After we found all of our rocks we took them to a staff member for help identifying them. They took the time to explain to our kids each gem and to point out interesting finds like fossils and a couple of small emeralds. They did a great job of catering to the kids to make this a memorable experience. We even found a geode that they split in half so the girls could see the inside.

I do recommend, wearing older shoes and older clothes. My daughters really got into splashing the water around and digging through the mud.......the front of their shirts got a little dirty from the experience and leaning against the water trough. So put some old clothes on and let your kids dig around in some dirt.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun hour of family time or just want a fun experience. The store itself has a lot of bones, rocks, gems and other fun things to explore as well.

This place was super awesome! We went with a friend who recommended this treasure found in downtown Brevard. Holden and Faith made the experience even better with their smiling faces, bright personalities and helpful attitudes.They were such a great team to work with in this experience. I wanna give a very special thanks to Holden and Faith for the best time ever at the gem mine they let my 4 year old sin play in the water which let me enjoy my time with my mother which doesnt get to happen very often while other gem mine said he wasn't allowed to play in the water and at that he was like 2 so THANK YOU for that and also my son didn't want to leave and started crying and Holden gave him a firefighter hat and a free rock and by the time we all left we were VERY VERY HAPPY and satisfied with the way we were treated LOVE YOU GUYS at Crystal Mountain Gem Mine and God Bless

Cory and Liz were helpful and friendly. This was a great experience “finding gemstones” and we bought lots of fabulous gems throughout the store.

We had so much fun ... felt like a little kid searching for treasures! Found many beautiful gems in our bucket of dirt. Holden was so helpful to get us started and Liz was extremely knowledgeable about all the gems and minerals we found. She even helped us crack open the big geode that we found. Of note: We found two rubies, a beautiful amethyst crystal a megaladon tooth! Highly recommend. Would love to take the grandkids next time.

First we just shopped. Their extensive collection of crystals, jewelry, fossils, and other goodies had us wandering for a long time! Then we watched the sluicing for a bit but decided to leave. We all regretted our decision and went back later. Chris and June helped us every step of the way and were so nice and welcoming to us. My friends and I highly recommend this experience. We left with huge bags of crystals and a geode for a reasonable price! Great fun!

We visited on Tuesday, August 10th and had a blast! Traveling with my mother and 8 year old son there was plenty of fun for all. We got the green giant bucket and found several pieces of emerald, and ruby. We found sapphire and garnet, as well a huge geode! If I could leave more stars I would! Liz and Holden were welcoming and kind! The shop was also amazing!

Crystal mountain Gem Mine is a must see and experience when visiting Brevard NC. It’s a great place to take the kids or grandkids. Micah is great with the kids and has a lot of knowledge about the rocks. I’m very impressed with this place.

We did the gem mining here and we all had so much fun. This was the perfect activity on a rainy day for all of us ages ranging from 10-74 years old. Emily and Becca took the time to talk to us about each stone after we finished. They were so knowledgeable and you can tell they love their job. We will be back!

Cory and staff were amazing to my entire family. I brought my wife, dog, and two boys (4yo and 7yo). They were really helpful in guiding us through our options on gem mining for the day. They gave us a short tutorial and checked on us a few times throughout. They were encouraging and celebrated with my children on their finds. I've been to many gem mines over the years with my children, but this was the best experience I've had. They took the time to go over each and every gem they found and explained each. They told us what their favorite was and asked the boys theirs. They even spoiled my dog while there. It's safe to say that we will be back soon! I'm very thankful for this staff!

If you are anywhere near here, please don’t miss this super fun stop!! Holden, their employee was very helpful from helping us pick the perfect bucket for our family, of five, upon his recommendation we did the extra large green bucket. We had so much fun, even our one year old was screaming with excitement! After, Holden helped us to open the extra large geo that came in our bucket, and identifying our numerous bags of gems! We will definitely return upon our next visit to Brevard!!

This experience was absolutely excellent! Very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. My 2 year old had a blast! It is in a beautiful downtown area and is indoor which was perfect for the cold November day! June helped us through the whole process and made it a great experience!

If you are ever in Brevard, NC the Crystal Mountain Gem Mine is a place you differently want to visit. There are so many gems for sale and the gem mining is awesome. Emily was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about her stone and loves speaking about every stone. It was a pleasure coming in and we will differently be back.

Gem mining is always a “must-do” on our family vacations, and this one did not disappoint!! Allison was super-helpful and made our visit feel special—we had a LOT of fun!

This place was amazing. We had 5 children with us and selected to do 1 big green bucket after talking to Holden. It was the perfect selection and each of the kids made out with a ziplock bag full of gems, even a pretty nice size ruby. The kids had a great time and want to do it again. Holden was amazing and did an excellent job explaining what kind of gems the kids found. I would highly recommend going and asking for Holden. You will not be disappointed.

We had an amazing time! We took our 1st grade classes from Brevard Elementary School and we had such a wonderful experience. Chris and June were so great with the students and did fantastic accommodating such a large group! Hoping to make this a yearly trip for our students.

When we planned our trip to Brevard, NC and told our 6 year old son about all of our fun plans he was most excited about gem mining. He begged and pleaded to do it the second we arrived. We had to wait until Monday when we were back in the area. This worked out in our favor as the store was swamped on Saturday due to a kids festival in town. We had the absolute best experience at Crystal Mountain Gem Mine! Store manager Holden went out of his way to offer assistance (and a special gem) during our entire visit. He is a wonderful example of what customer service should be! He was so friendly, patient and kind with such a positive attitude. He had an incredibly thorough knowledge of all the gems my son inquired about. This store was so interesting and exciting for kids of all ages (adults!). In addition to "panning for gems", it truly feels like a little mountain store with it's many neat items for sale. I could have spent another hour just wandering through, examining all of the "rare treasures". Additionally, the mining set up is perfect, very well thought out and designed. It allows kids to get a little dirty (as they SO love to do) and yet keeps the mess somewhat contained. Our time spent in this store and with Holden truly was one of the highlights of our trip and I only wish we could visit more often!

This little spot is awesome!! Gem mining for the kids and LOTS of gems and stones, all shapes and sizes. Really nice jewelry and cool fossils. Liz was very nice and extremely informative! Highly recommended when you’re in Brevard. Thanks again Liz!!

Saved our rainy day! The kids had a blast and the amount and size of gems were impressive and better than any other gem mining spot we’ve been to. Holden was awesome!! Very knowledgeable and we genuinely enjoyed his company!! Highly recommended if you visit Brevard.

So glad we stopped in to do some gem mining. Holden was on staff that day, and made sure we picked the right package for our needs. I noticed his guitar, and asked if he would play us some tunes. He did not hesitate. When younger kids came in, he did a wonderful job educating them about the gems, keeping them safe at the geode machine, and ensuring all had fun. As an educator, I appreciate his passion and work - it will make a difference for some of these kids as they see science come to life.

This activity is amazing. We are a family of 8 with only one tween. This was a wonderful experience for all ages. Holden was helpful and extremely knowledgeable of all the rocks we prospected.

Kids loved the mining for gems so much we had to make a second trip before heading home from vacation. Can’t say enough about how great the customer service was, especially Holden who was amazing.

Our two granddaughters (ages 3 1/2 and 7 1/2 years old) LOVED the Crystal Mountain Gem Mine. Employees Liz and Allison helped them identify the gemstones and other treasures found in their bucket of dirt. These young ladies even took time to shine their cellphone lights through the Firey Amber Stones. Grandma & Grandpa thought the trip was cool too!

Stopped by here while in Brevard and loved it. My grandson loves rocks and gems and he had a wonderful time. The staff here was amazing and so helpful. The store had a lot of cool artifacts and is definitely worth a stop.

It was so much fun!! Cory was absolutely amazing!! They recommended the green bucket and it was so cool!! My partner and I came back a second time on our way back home just because we enjoyed it that much!!

We had a really great time with our 3 kids today (13, 5, and 1). Holden was very knowledgeable and so friendly! We did the 65 dollar bucket which was plenty for all 3 kids to search through and find a bunch of cool stuff. Would definitely recommend as a fun activity while visiting Brevard, it was perfect with the wide range of ages of our kids.

Best time we’ve had in the mountains. 11/10 would go again. Great for the kids. And Kyle, the awesome guy working there, made the whole experience ten times more fun!

We got to the location quite late and they would be closing in 15 minutes so I was going to just split a small bucket. The girl was like no no, you have to get the green bucket and don’t worry about time! She was so nice!! I haven’t done this since I was a child and it was so much fun!!! And boy that green bucket really was full of it! We got so much out of it! Including beautiful rubies a large geod!

Had a great time with my grandsons! Holden and Liz were both very knowledgeable with all the gems and fossils. They both went out of their way to explain what the boys had discovered.

Our daughters were thrilled with the gem mining experience and the price was super affordable!! We got the 5 gallon bucket and we ended up with so many breathtaking gems that were all a great size! We splurged and got 3 of our gemstones crafted into necklaces. I can not wait to see what beautiful pieces they'll end up with!

The store was so cute. It had the best collection of crystals and fossils I have seen in ages. It alone was worth the visit.
