One of the best places in Lewes and Rehoboth Beaches to relax

By celia-in-rehoboth |

The beautiful Cape Henlopen Seashore Park has so much to offer. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, camping, cottages, museum, biking, great beach, cute nature center and excellent Rangers and staff. Small snack bar and changing stations are decent.

Convenient campground near the beach.

By mummaiv |

Very convenient campground between Dewey Beach and Bethany beach, but also near Rehoboth and those towns have to offer.

Full hookups, paved parking pad are a bonus.

Walking distance to the Atlantic Ocean and fishing from the Indian River Inlet

Weekend trip

By luckygrl17 |

This park is great for a weekend or long weekend. We stayed twice in the past year. Last Thanksgiving weekend we had record highs for late November. Did some fishing, caught nothing but it was nice to get one more weekend before the cold set in.
We camped the second time 2nd weekend in June for a wedding at the lifesaving station which is about 2 miles from the campground. It was warm and windy. flies were biting. We stayed in the north lot both times. Don't think I would do more than a weekend. But for convenience its great.

Tower Road Beach for the day

By Betsy C |

What a great place to go for a day trip to the beach! $5 parking, bathrooms, showers, and snack bar. Extremely easy beach access.

Nice for Families

By Tim55675 S |

We recently enjoyed a visit with our grandchildren here over Easter weekend. We did an egg hunt with them in the playground and it was an easy walk to the beach. The campground is split into two parts and we were on the north side by the Coast Guard Station. We travel with our 2 small lap dogs and the north end allows pets. I only camp here in the off season as it gets very busy in the summer and reservations would be prudent.

Beautiful beach walking

By SaraDeb119 |

Beautiful sandy beach to walk along. It felt like it was our personal beach as it was so quiet off season

North Inlet Campground

By Holly G |

This was our first time out with our new camper. The weather was terrible so we only walked on the beach at night. The waves seem pretty calm, which was nice in comparison to beaches in NJ I'm used to. We stayed on site 253, which was one of the only sites with a tree. The bathrooms at the beach were clean and there's a restaurant there with take out in case you don't want to cook at your camper. We enjoyed walking along the inlet. The beach across from the campground is crowded on the weekend even in the not nice weather. I think there may be other beaches in the park, but we just explored other areas instead of seeking out other beaches.

We visited the Indian River Life Saving Station and they had a reenactment of a rescue. That was really cool. Good history lesson.

Don't waste your time! Camping Here was like paying $40 to camp at a Wal-Mart Parking lot

By Evan V |

My girlfriend and I came to camp here about two weekends ago. Planned in advance. Booked for two nights, so about $80 with fees.

We go camping frequently, and have been to assateague many times, and wanted to try something different.

First of all, the fact this is called a campground or a state park is absurd. It is a TRAILER park. Point blank. When we pulled up it looked like a WalMart parking lot. Just a concrete slab next to the inlet. If it had been on the beach it would have been somewhat redeeming at least, but it wasn't.

The parking lot was very crowded and confusing to navigate, and the sites didn't have privacy at all. So much for a secluded outdoor getaway.

No fire pits at the tent sites. And the tent sites were basically just another concrete slab next to huge RVs.

Out of principle, we ate the cost of the two days, left, and ended up going back to Assateague.

So, the state of Delaware owes me $80 in my opinion!

Long story short, unless you enjoy paying 40 a night to be in a WalMart parking lot, don't waste your time.

Camping

By Alex K |

3 stars, only because camp is crowded, tents is to close to each other's, no privacy. Same for the trailers. No trees on the camping, you can't even attach tarp to the tree for creating a shade. Also, windy time to time,it hard to install a tent, during that time . However facilities is super clean, easy to use, but shower works like minute or so,then you have to press the k on again to get going. Beaches is so good and clean, easy to access.

A day at the Beach

By Joanna M |

We rented a house in nearby Fenwick Island and drove to Delaware Seashore State Park for the day. Parking for out-of-state guests was $10. They also had beach chairs and umbrellas for rent although we just used what we brought. The beach was clean, had a lifeguard, and nearby shower houses and cafe. The lifeguards are very attentive and actually performed a rescue for some swimmers who got too far out from the beach. Cafe fare included hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, and pretzels. Average price for a combo was $10. Overall a well spent day that tired the kids out and worked in our budget.

Read everyone's reviews...great help!

By Janice Z |

So, we read many reviews on this site before we visited Delaware Seashore State Park. We KNEW it was near the beach so we didn't expect a tree on the place...and there wasn't. That's fine if you know why you are there. It's a beach! We had a wonderful experience there. The bathrooms were very clean as many have mentioned. They aren't huge, but many people must use their campers for almost everything. The staff was friendly when we needed them. Otherwise, no one bugged you. Also, for it being on the little more of an "urban" feel (to me), it was a very quiet campground. People observed rules. We stayed on the south inlet which were all pull throughs. We're newbies so this worked for us. We were tiny compared to all of the large and new campers that were there. The only noise was from the cars crossing the bridge. Yes, you could hear them but it wasn't a problem for us. More of a low sound than a right next to you sound. Nice little playground for the kids. That's it. It is an AMAZING LOCATION. It's right between Rehoboth/Dewey and Bethany/Fenwick Island. Further south is Assateague and Chincoteage and further north is Cape May via the Ferry.
We loved this campground, and we'll be back!

Quiet Beach

Easy to social distance, bathrooms available, lovely area, clean beach, great for couples, families. 10.00 fee to access.

The BEST beach experience for Rehoboth Visitors

By DCNative2010 |

Rehoboth Beach offers a panoply of exotic sights for the open minded, but for those interested in swimming and sunbathing, I recommend Delaware Seashore State Park. Two ocean swimming areas feature modern bathhouses with showers and changing rooms. Lifeguards patrol the beaches from 9 am to 5 pm daily between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. Snack foods are available at the bathhouses, and umbrellas, chairs, and rafts can be rented on the beach.

Traditional, unspoiled beach experience.

A day on the beach

By Roving754839 |

I love this park with the beautiful clean sandy beach. It’s perfect for lounging all day under an umbrella or cooling off with a dip in the ocean.

Best local public beach

By Hank W |

I've been here dozens if not a hundred times. It is my go to beach in this area. It beats paying for parking in Bethany or Rehoboth, albeit without the town amenities. But, I go here for the time in the ocean only. I get an annual DE parks pass otherwise be prepared to pay $10 if you're out of state.

Camping!

By MissMyDog |

We RV camped on he north unit. It was so cool to be a short walk to the beach. Nice areas to walk to the marina. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

the best place

By Michael M |

The park is awesome, not very crowded, although there can be a line to get in on the weekend. You can purchase a season pass which gives you faster access.

Very good experience

By Perette H |

Clean beach, manageable waves for children, family oriented, nice amenities, would definitely come here again.

I love it!!!

By S.D |

I absolutely LOOOOVVVEEE the Delaware Seashore State Park and I highly recommend it for anyone that wants to spend all day at the beach!! If you are from Delaware you pay $5 and if you are from out of state you pay $10 for parking all day!!! You get access to bathrooms with showers which are great after being at the beach all day. There are also lifeguards until 5pm which is so awesome. This is a great place to relax with friends, family, or as a couples trip. This place has never disappointed.

Great beach

By Maverick |

What a great place to take the grandchildren. The beach is wonderdul, the life guards are professional and the bathhouse is very clean. At Indian River the park has a restaurant called the Big Chill. Nice place to go for lunch to get a few moments off the beach.

Tower Beach is the Best!

By MsDonnaDW |

We visited Tower Beach during our stay and it was easy to get to, just as nice as Cape Henlopen -- but with the added benefit of cell phone service while on the beach -- with the same pier snack bar and restrooms/showers. Go early . . . it fills up quickly.

Great drive on Beach

By Bmmatus |

I have A DE license to surf fish & drive on the Beaches. Have been doing it for 40 years, great beaches!!!

Great location for camping if you don’t mind the constantly flooded campsites

By Beachcouple3 |

First let me say that we have been visiting and camping at Delaware Seashore State Park for over 40 years. So when it comes to the campground we have just about seen it all. The location of the campground could not be any better, it’s only a short walk to the beach for swimming or to the inlet for fishing. I am only assuming that this park must be the biggest moneymaker of all of the Delaware state parks. That is why it is all so confusing as to why they would just put up with the flooded campsites. I first started complaining to the Park management in 2014. I was told then that they would look into correcting the problem. Well if they did look into it that is all they did. When I complained to Park management this year they said that they were equally frustrated but that their engineers said nothing could be done. I said, what? Your engineers cannot figure out how to correct low spots. Not sure what kind of engineers they hire but that sounded ridiculous. I think it’s more of a case of they don’t feel like fixing the problem. But if they had to walk through 4 to 6 inches of water to get to their office I’m sure it would get fixed, and rather quickly. Luckily for me I was staying in a trailer up above the water, we only had to walk through it when coming or going. We were also lucky that it summer time so we didn’t have to roll up our pants and could wear shorts when entering and departing. We were certainly luckier than the campers who also had tents on their campsites, those tents were under water.

Now it’s been years of this flooding, ever since they made changes to the campground which only made the flooding problem much worse. Since management obviously knows about the flooding and it’s also obvious at this point that they are not going to do anything to fix it, at least they could do is warn unsuspecting campers of this problem. They could point out the campsites that flood on their website and also have this information pointed out at their call center when applying for a campsite by phone.

I have provided photos of the flooding, these photos are not from the same day. The photos are from 3 different days of flooding so as you can see it floods quite often. If you get more than a light rain you can count on being under water if you are on one of the sites that constantly flood.

The hospitality was above and beyond!

By Erika |

We had a break down upon entering the campground area of Delaware Seashore State Park, which put a damper on our planned vacation for a few days. But the hospitality we received from the staff definitely brightened our spirits! They were amazing! Elisabeth Anne (campground host) was incredible and has such a big heart. And Doug, park superintendent, was a big help as well! Everyone was so nice and so willing to help. We can't even send enough thank you's to them! The view of the Indian River Inlet Bridge from the campground is incredible. The park itself is very clean, as are the restrooms and shower areas. The laundry room on site also came as a big blessing for us! We will most definitely stay here again when we make our way back to the area.

Beach

By delearyous |

Really good location for a day trip to the beach. Less crowded then Rehoboth, Ocean City. Has a bath house. Snack bar. Parking is $5 for in state. $10 for out of state.

$10 for out state visitor parking

By JimDeBerry |

Things I like:
nice beach bar.
nice beach area.
they offer camping on the north side.

things I don't like:
$10 to park for out of state guest.

Almost hate to say how GREAT this is

By Patty714 |

Part of why we love this is because it is less congested than the boardwalk sections of beachfront. I hesitate to say just how wonderful this is because I would hate to lose this option. If everyone starts coming here...it might become more congested, too. It is beautifully maintained, has clean bathrooms and a snack bar! I know the right thing to do is to share this good news...it is one of Delaware's gems.

Family Summers

By Mandi J |

Great place to be camping close to the beach, within a 5-10min walk. Windy, but beautiful views from your tent of the bridge lit up at night in blue. Downside, lifeguards leave at 5pm when most people are still on the beach with little children. All lifesaving devices are removed and if any danger, you are on your own! Also sites are VERY close to each other, allowing little privacy.

Extensive park with lots to offer

By nutrinut |

There is a long nicely kept beach with some surf, inlet and sea fishing, camping, hiking areas, restaurant, foul and fauna!

Great State Park

By dkwarner11 |

The beaches are great and always clean. They have concession stand and showers at the park in certain areas. Does get crowded especially on holiday or weekends during the summer. September is a great month to visit. There are so many parks to enjoy too. Fishing pier just opened and my husband was very happy!

Better than I expected

By DJWallflower41 |

After reading several poor reviews, I was skeptical about what to expect. This camping spot ended up being better than I expected overall. There are clean showers and restrooms, spacious camping spots and excellent proximity to the beach! Be sure to bring trash bags; there are no trash cans. No campfires at our site, but there is a community campfire near the playground area. The campsites are more like a parking lot, so there is not a lot of privacy, but we were not really at our site except to sleep anyway so this was not a big deal for our trip. Excellent fishing spot, not great for stargazing as there is a giant bridges with lights directly over this campground.

Delightful even in late November.

By podrozniczka60 |

Beautiful beaches with interesting marine life. Scenic ocean. Easy convenient parking for the most part. Great place to walk.

Yearly September Visit

By Dawn K |

Delaware Seashore Park has become our favorite annual trip in our camper. Location, location, location! You can enjoy the ocean and beach, fishing, boating, kayaking and bird watching all while never getting in your car, a definite must visit place if you have never been here.

family trip

By monica p |

We have visited the Delaware seashore state park twice in less than a month However our first time we stayed in a tent at the park and the overnight staff was very noisy. This last time we went to the beach area and stayed elsewhere and it was a great visit. my children love watching the boats in the bay.

Long sandy beach with amenities

By DCnanny |

Like most of the ocean beaches in DE, Seashore State Park is an opportunity to enjoy the Altantic ocean in a safe, clean spot. There are restrooms, shower facilities, umbrella & chair rentals, plus a snack bar. The state park fee ($10/ non-DE Resident car) includes parking & wash room with toilets. The remaining charges for amenities are reasonable & optional. You are permitted to bring your own food including coolers, your own umbrella & chairs, as well as beach toys, boogie boards, etc. Skim boards are permitted as long as their use is restricted to areas of the beach with minimal swimmers. Life guards, on duty from 0900- 1700 hrs, from Memorial Day to Labor Day will direct use of skim boards, boogie boards according to the congestion of swimmers. Know that on very busy days those items may be restricted. Please don’t feed the gulls & other wild life. It can be hazardous to you or your child’s health. If you come across a horse shoe crab & want to return it to the water, PLEASE, please do NOT pick them up by their tails. Grasp them by the edge of the large rounded shell (they do not bite or pinch) & gently carry them to the water’s edge. Horseshoe crabs play a vital role in the balance of nature along the delmarva coast. Do not allow anyone in your group to dig holes deeper than waist high of the youngest person present & never leave the beach without filling in any holes. DE State Parks are “carry in, carry out”. Please don’t leave trash, beach toys, inflatables behind. We love our visitors! Without them, DE would not have the rich, interesting & active life that being a year-round resident provides. If you have questions, please ask. You will find most “natives” are very friendly, very proud of their unique life style & only too happy to offer suggestions for eateries, shopping, entertainment & attractions. Seashore State Park offeres many classes about the wildlife/ shore life which are listed on the DE State Park website. If you know you are going to be in the area ahead of time, try to sign up for @ least one. The instructors are knowledgeable & comfortable working with diverse populations. Cost are minimal: $5 - $10/ class. Great fun & well worth the time. Stay safe, supervise children closely & enjoy our wonderful beach.

Delaware state park

By RIULUVER |

My wife and I wanted to fish and relax on the beach.. this was the place to go. you can fish here and swim, it is not crowded like the regular beach .
there is a 10.00 charge and you must have a fishing license to fish in tidal waters. all in all its worth it. nice beach and good fishing

nice public beach

By daument |

A nice clean public beach that charges $5.00 for Delaware residents and $10.00 for out of state residents. We have visited both Gordons Pond and the Cape Henolopen parks.

Our family's favorite beach

By travelalone63 |

This is a beautiful beach that is rarely crowded. I love that there are bathrooms and showers right there. It makes traveling with young children so much easier.

Camping in area

By R369DEjuliec |

The beach was beautiful, clean and was not very crowded. They do charge 10 per car load for out of state people.

Beautiful beach away from the crowds

By mesgps |

I usually go to Cape Henlopen State Park for a day at the beach. Today I decided to try Delaware Seashore State Park at the Indian River Inlet. I was not disappointed. The beach was wide and clean. There was ample parking available close by. There were a fair number of people there, but it was not crowded by any means. The people there today ran the gamut from those who were surf fishing to people with small children, to couples and singles of all ages. Everyone was having a good time but were respectful of others. This may become my new favorite spot for a day at the beach.

Beach is spectacular

By Deb Felmey |

Facilities are available - including food, nominal fee and wonderful beach access. In the shadow of the Indian River Inlet Bridge, the view is spectacular and beach access and parking couldn't be easier.

Surf fishing

By jeglum |

This is a wonderful Beach to take your 4-wheel drive and go surf fishing. We go there Spring, Summer and Fall. A permit is needed so check with the State Park officials at the Indian River Life Saving Station for more details.

Laid out like a sparse mini golf course

By Biff Simpson |

We stayed one night at the campground at the base of a large highway bridge. You drive around and around. No trees, small sites, most restrooms are closed and power only (no water or septic). No fires allowed. The bike / hiking path is nice.

Beautiful Beach with showers

By Nancy D |

The Seashore State park is family friendly offering convenient bathroom, changing area and showers. For a small daily fee you will enjoy the amenities that are offered. Park & Go enjoy the sunshine!

We rented one of the cottages that are part of Delaware's state park system

By Emma |

We stayed in the cottages that are rented through the state park system. These were great as evidenced by the looks on everyone's faces as we unlocked the front door.

We were so used to renting homes and condos on/near the beach that always have a slight moldy smell and just a worn feeling to them. What a difference and a breath of fresh air (literally) these cottages were. Each has 3 bedrooms designed to sleep 6 at the most. We had teens, so the upper loft area was a treat for them. Kind of a roomy private sub-house for them. The steep ship-stairs discouraged any of the adults from visiting them.

The kitchen was well supplied: dishes, pots and pans etc for all your needs.

The living and dining area was pretty spacious -- television was supplied via satellite.

There was a screen in porch where we ate most of our meals. A lovely breeze made it cool even when the day was hot.

Top-notch sunsets every evening. Beach within walking (half mile), but we had too much equipment and chose to drive. $10 per day unless you have a state pass (we did).

The nearby marina has a good restaurant and a crowded bar. However, they also do ice cream items off to the side which you can take to a bench to watch the sunset. Most evenings the wait time for a table was about an hour.

Great state park campground

By mbehney |

This review is for the north inlet campground. My wife and I really enjoyed staying here in our 15' teardrop camper. It is a short walk to a beautiful beach via a nice walkway along the Indian River. We really liked riding our bikes around the campground and down to the Indian River Marina where there are fishing excursions, a nice dockside bar, and a fresh seafood market where we bought scallops caught that day. The camp host offers a beach bonfire on Wed nights. The bathhouses are clean and updated and there is a laundry room available. Like other reviewers stated, it does get pretty windy and the weather can change fast. We had 2 severe thunderstorms with high wind gusts. We were not bothered at all by the noise from the bridge and honestly could barely hear it. The beach at the north campground is a surfers beach and there are no life guards, but with you get access to any state park beach with your reservation so you could drive to the south side beach access where there are lifeguards and a beach restaurant. Overall, I love this campground and have already booked another trip for December.

Park here and go to elsewhere.

By Becky E |

sites are way too close together. The bathhouse is sketchy, just seems quite rundown in comparison to how much money they are raking in. The construction site on north beach was extremely loud even where we were on the other side of the bay. There is one worthwhile amenity. The little strip of beach under the bridge. It’s definitely not peaceful with all the construction and bridge traffic. No trees or shade which is a shame. I understand why, you wouldn’t be able to cram as many of us in if there were trees.if we did it again we would leave every day and go up to Rehoboth Beach.

always a great beach

By C136OZlaurab |

This beach is easy to get to. The beach is always clean. It is a very safe beach. The park service is always present and checking the areas. Plenty of parking.

Not So Basic Anymore!

By tomgauger |

This very popular campground is now twice as big.
Nestled near the beautiful new bridge straddling the Indian River Inlet, Delaware Seashore State Park has a new section.
Overall, 400 campsites are now available ranging from three-point, 50-amp all the way to no-hookup locations. Tent sites also available.
With more spacing in the new section there is less chance of having dinner with your neighbors whether you want to or not.
New comfort stations, new sidewalks and general cleanliness have really improved this campground. Volunteer Work Campers monitor activities very well and security is good.
Power in the new section at our site near the Coast Guard base was a reliable 50 amps, water pressure was excellent and there was ample space to back in a 44' coach. Parking for the toad was a little tight.
The usual complaint about this campground is about the absence of shade trees. There has been an attempt by landscapers to grow trees here but it's not working very well. This is a marine environment with salty sand, a hostile place to root young trees.
There are some play spaces for kids...be sure and bring your bikes.
The beach is a short 400-yard walk from the most distant part of the park. It's clean with continuous sand enrichment on the inlet's north side an on-going project. Watching the Coasties play basketball and test their boat engines in the morning is an attraction.
There is an excellent marina with a restaurant within walking distance.
The marina is home port for several headboats and some smaller private enterprise day trips for Atlantic fishing.
Rainy day shopping in Rehoboth (seven miles north) is a popular option, but be prepared for enormous traffic problems. Downtown parking is by credit card.
The biggest problem with Delaware Seashore State Park is its own popularity. It's sold out thru the summer season. Reservations can be made in the early months of Spring. Waiting until Memorial Day is not a good idea.

Low-key and Fun

By PastaBea |

Great beach with ample parking. Pay by the carload. Clean and comfortable but no lifeguard. Small snack bar. Great if you want to avoid the crowds and hubbub

Great visit

By Jim Deere |

Delaware Seashore State park was amazing. Clean fun and family oriented. We stayed and enjoyed free pass to all the state park area's. The beach was clean and easy to get to. Public Porto Pottys we're available.

Bring your umbrella or awning!

By Matt P |

This review is on the campground so the biggest negative is there is NO shade. When they say this on the website, they aren't kidding. It is very clean and has all the amenities you need, plus they allow adult beverages! Your close to Rehoboth, Bethany, Fenwick and Ocean City, MD. You can literally walk to the beach and because it is a state park, your parking pass will allow you into all other state parks at no charge!

Beautiful park with great views over the ocean and the Delaware River bay

By 479casimirk |

This is a great park to go beach walking, gathering a few shells, watching the birds, and enjoying the fresh ocean air. Views over the bay and seeing the ferries going across to Cape May add to the attractions. Good parking and helpful directions.

Loved the activities offered

By 331jamesp |

We look our grandson who was 13 and he thoroughly enjoyed the activities offered. He thought he was 'too old' to participate but found it to be fun and interesting learning to find buried treasure on the beach and hearing about the ship wrecks off the coast. I enjoyed it too! Loads of fun and cost was budget friendly.

vacation

By _rgruver310 |

We visited Delaware Seashore State Park a number of years ago. The beach is clean. There is adequate parking in the large lot just behind the beach, so its easy accessible. There is a fee to park there but I really don't remember, but then it is very close to the beach.

The best place to go to the beach, bar none!

By Paula C |

OK, the beauty of the park system beaches is they are all beautiful. There is plenty of parking at all and concession stands, showers and baths and several.

No shade, playground closed, smells of dead turtles

By Sdccowen |

This is a minimalist campground. Though we did have electric and water, the laundry room was locked. There is no shade on any site. The playground was all taped off, so it could not be used. The beach is not manicured or clean. There is a smell of dead turtles and horseshoe crabs as you enter and leave the park. There is no pool. This is not a campground that I would return to.

Location, location, location!

By Paul K |

Great location! In the south campground, it’s only a 400 Ft walk to a very family friendly beach with a great (but expensive) snack bar) and clean bath house.
The campground is well maintained with super friendly workers!
This campground is only a 10 minute drive north to the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk. However, you may spend 20 minutes looking for a parking spot.
Or, drive 5 minutes south to the quaint village of Bethany Beach for shopping and restaurant s.

Overcrowded beach!

By Debbie S |

Sadly, our last camping vacation on the North side. Too many people crowded on the very narrow beach caused numerous confrontations. Never experienced such rudeness as this. We will camp in the Carolinas from here on out!

Walking in Delaware

By karl zimmerman |

I stayed at a condo in N. Bethany & spent 4 days exploring the area. My original purpose was to go to the Sea Witch festival in Rehoboth, but the crowds & lack of parking convinced me otherwise, so i spent most of my time skulking around the Bethany area. I was fortunate that i was located within walking distance of Fresh Pond, which is a part of DE Seashore State park as well as the bay, since DE has a charming habit of charging folks $10 for parking. I am lucky enough come from a state that allows visitors to enjoy state parks without charging them (unlike DE & MD). Don't get this, 'cause DE & MD are much more prosperous than PA & if we can afford to let visitors come free, so should they.
Fresh Pond has a number of relatively short trails that circulate thru Pine woods & out around the Bay. Very pretty, especially for someone used to mountain ridges & deciduous forests. Weather was beautiful, bugs non-existent. Highly recommend visiting this time of year. Also visited James Farm Ecological Preserve which is an effort to preserve the local bay area ecology. Good for children & not too strenuous, showcasing a variety of landscapes including pine woods, the bay & tidal marshlands, and fields. Take the kids to see the crabs in spring. Well worth it.

Great beach campground is sparse

By Aaron_D |

Come to this campground for the beach not the camping. The North side campground is modern, sparse but has brand new facilities, the beach however is fabulous. We spent a wonderful few hours playing in the surf during our short overnight stay at this state park. The campground is just a place to park the camper, shower and eat while avoiding the crowds at beaches further South in Ocean City. Great spot.

Nice beach, some info on campground

By SeattleHudd |

We stayed for three nights at the tent campground just south of the bridge. This was a beach vacation for us, so we spent a lot of time at the beach.

Let me start with the beach. The beach is expansive and not terribly crowded. The lifeguards are out 9-5 and will only let you swim by guarded chairs. That wasn't really a problem, because as the swimming area became more crowded they just added more staffed chairs which expanded the swimming area. At 5:00 they make everyone get out of the water as they exit. Once the guards leave, everyone gets back into the water at their own risk. One reviewer commented that the sand is somewhat coarse here; that's true, but it wasn't really rough to walk on (in my opinion). Kids digging should bring a sturdy shovel instead of a cheap plastic one. Assateague Island (45 minutes south) has a beach that isn't quite as coarse. Another reviewer commented that the waves break very close to shore due to the somewhat steep descent into the water. This is also true, but much more true at low tide than high tide. If it's low tide when you arrive and you plan on staying all day, put your stuff way at the top of the beach or be prepared to move it later on. The facilities at the beach are OK, but not always cleaned with the frequency that the population demands.

Now, for the campground. I was in the (new, I think) tent campground on the north end of the peninsula just south of the bridge. There is no shade anywhere in the campground. The ground is pretty much sand, but it's hard-packed and difficult to drive a stake into without using a mallet (so bring one). The sites are small and close together. It's a fine location to camp, though -- walking distance to the beach, short drive to Bethany or Rehoboth or even Ocean City. When we were there it was quite windy, so think twice about bringing a small gazebo-style shade tent unless you can really stake it down well. The bathroom was pretty new (I think less than a year old), but that doesn't mean it was nice. The tiles weren't set very well so there was standing water all over the place. The floor was gritty (there is nothing anyone can do about that in a place covered in sand). I didn't notice any mold, but it will only be a matter of time with the condition it's kept in. There was no soap for washing hands (byo to the bathroom). There was only one temperature in the men's bathroom for the sinks & showers: scalding hot. I couldn't wash my kids' hands in the sink because I was worried the water would burn them. The showers are poorly designed; the shower head sends the water straight into the shower curtain. The only way to get the water directly on your legs is to open up the shower curtain and stand in the changing area (and get it all wet). This is a big deal considering washing sand off my legs was the primary reason for the shower. There is a bench for changing in the shower area, but it is only long enough to cover half of the showers. And half of the bench that is there is completely visible to the outside when the door is open, so it is barely usable at all. The door bangs pretty loudly when closed (this could easily be fixed!), so try not to be too close to the showers at night.

There are no campfire rings in the campground except for one that anyone can use. This actually makes the campground a lot more calm/quiet than most because people aren't staying up late in front of fires. There is a lot of light at night from the shower house and from the lights on the bridge. There is a dumpster for trash from the campsite. It was overflowing to 4 times its size because the trash wasn't picked up the entire time I was there. This review may sound like I am complaining --- I really am not. I would go back. It's just that for $40 per night, one may be tempted to think this campground would be a cut above the rest -- it's not.

If you go, I would like to suggest that tent site #93 may be the worst site there. It is close to the bathroom (noisy door) and people cut across it to get to the door in the bathroom. Also, it is directly in line with the entrance/exit drive from the RV campground, so anyone entering/exiting at night will shine their headlights directly into this site. Aside from that, there isn't much advantage to any one site over any other. They're all pretty much the same.

State Park Beach

Entry Fee - Based on Car license plate - out of state higher. Paved parking area. Bathrooms. Gift shop. Good restaurant.

AMAZING ATLANTIC BEACH

Must do beach with family or friends. Best northeast beach there is. Lots of sand and room to spread out away from crowds.

Exceeded Expectations!

By AshC717 |

After reading the other reviews, I'll admit, we were nervous about camping here. I'd only been to state parks that were in the woods, and when I heard "sandlot" and "no trees," I nearly panicked and cancelled. I'm glad we didn't. We LOVED this campground and will be definitely be back. We arrived just in time to set up our tent and watch the sunset. Thanks to the campground's openness, it was like having your our personal theatre to watch nature. We camped 3 days/2 nights. This was the cleanest campground I've ever set foot on, probably because there were no trashcans anywhere in site. Be forewarned, you'll want to bring your own trash bag and carry it off site when your trip is over (a minor inconvenience; not a big problem). We were nervous about the no open fire rule, but we picked up a cheapy grill and made it work. The fact that they host a community bonfire made up for it. Because it's the beach and there are no trees, it can get a bit windy. Be sure to bring rope and tie your tent down!!

Along with our 7-year-old daughter, we spent our time fishing, walking back and forth to the beach, and checking out trails. Our little one loved the playground and met a number of buddies that she later hung out with on the beach. When I realized I had no caffeine fix the first day, coffee was just a short drive away in Rehobeth. All in all, if you're looking to get away and hang at the beach for under $200, look no further.

A great park with lots of amenities.

By Webbuzzard |

The drive on is a great way to spend the day on the beach. You need a 4 wheel drive and a surf pass plus some extra equipment, including a fishing pole. On weekends and holidays it’s a lot more crowded and you must have a reservation, which sometimes sell out in minutes.

Great Alternative to Boardwalk Beach

By John D |

In lieu of spending $200 for a parking permit for downtown it is a bargain to get the annual pass to Delaware State parks. Except for a few days a year this is quite a bit less crowded and the Snack Bar/ Rest rooms are a nice feature.

Fun in the Sun

By Sam O |

We stay in Lewes during our annual beach vacation but we go to Delaware Seashore State Park ("Tower's Beach") south of Dewey instead of the closer Cape Henlopen Park beach. In our opinion, the DE Seashore State Park beach is larger and so doesn't seem as crowded. The parking is more convenient to the beach as well. Both have a nice beach house with showers and concessions, but because of the less crowded beach it makes our time there much more relaxing and well worth the extra drive. After all, isn't that what one goes to the beach for?

DANGER!

By smitty60 |

Be careful when swimming at any of Delaware's beaches. In order to hold onto the beach, offshore dredging has created dangerous shorebreaks, where the waves break powerfully right at the edge of the water instead of breaking further out and rolling in gently. The local hospitals see many, many injuries related to these surf conditions. DO NOT BODY SURF. You will be risking your life!

Local

By memtninde |

We go to tower road and key-box road which is part of the Delaware Seashore State Park, at least a couple of times a year as we live nearby. Let me say this, it is not the Gulf first and foremost. But for the Atlantic Ocean it is pretty nice. The sand is fairly white to tan color. The waves generally average around 3-5’. The water is murky as is expected in the Atlantic Ocean. There is a bath house located at the tower road beach site which has food, drinks, showers, and picnic tables, all are a nice touch. The biting flies can be bad if there is a west wind so bring bug spray just in case. Also the towers are cool if you are into history. Overall it is a nice beach. The fishing is great down at the inlet.

Love it!

By Lisa M |

It is true, there are no trees. There is no shade. You are in a parking lot along the highway. However, you are steps from the ocean with spectacular views. It's one of our favorite spots in the area!

Beach-goer now as a Delawarean

By Gray Matters 2 |

Awesome! Going to the beach just got easier now that I moved closer to it. Instead of 3-4 hours away, I'm now 10-30 minutes away. DE state beaches are accessible, well-maintained, reputable, and appearing safe. Keep up the good works.

Beatutiful and Clean Campground

By jmstl123 |

I stayed at this park for a 5 day long camping trip. This is the first time that my family has been camping to the beach and, let me say, we were not disappointed!
The camp ground and its bathrooms are kept clean, are quiet and are a short walk to the beach. The beach, the inlet and the bridge were all beautiful. The campground is close to Bethany, De, so we were able to head over there to walk around or to pick up some groceries. Papa Johns delivered right to our camp site.
If youre looking for a beach campground, I say look no further...this place was great!

Nice Campground

By Twosteppinlady |

We stayed here for three nights on our way back home to SC. It is a typical beach government run campground. We have a 43 ft fifth wheel and we just fit in the site. Sites are pretty tight, so we had to park the truck right next to the camper and practically up against the picnic table. We were on the south side of the bridge. It's a nice walk up to the beach along the fisherman's path or through the campground under the bridge. You can also drive up and with your campground pass the parking is free. Plenty to do in the area and stores and attractions are close by. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Camp hosts were very nice and helpful.

Camping at Delaware Seashore State Park

By Tom G |

As a little background I would first like to mention that I have been a patron of the campground at the Delaware Seashore State Park for more than 40 years. Also, this review is just for the south inlet campground area and not the entire state park.

Over the last ten years or so it has become obvious that maintenance to this campground area has become an afterthought with no or very little maintenance at all. Also to those who may not know is that this campground is basically run by campground volunteers or camp hosts by which they are referred to. By volunteers I mean that they are regular campers who get to stay for free as long as they perform duties such as cutting grass, picking up trash, working in the camp store, check in booth and various other duties. These volunteers usually stay for the entire season, May to October. While these volunteers are very friendly and helpful in running the day to day operation they can only do so much and really have very little authority. With virtually no overhead for paying staff since they are volunteers, one must wonder where all of the campground money goes. There have been large pot holes in the main roads around the south campground for as long as I can remember. During very heavy rains the staff will put orange cones in the water covered deep pot holes to keep drivers from sinking in up to their axles. One must wonder if the state park actually has a maintenance staff what must they actually do? Not to long ago there was a dedication of the completed campground that was closed because of bridge construction. Now, because of nor'easter storms none of the south side park looks anything like it used to after the dedication. Piled sand and dead plants are the norm not the exception along the inlet. This has been that way for quite a while and I don't foresee anything changing anytime soon. If there is a maintenance budget for this park I can only hope it is very small because the upkeep and repairs are absolutely minimal. Because of its location near the inlet and ocean this campground usually stays full through out the summer. It is a real money maker for the state of Delaware. With the state of repairs of this campground if it was in any other location I doubt if it would have very much activity at all. I also must mention that during heavy rains many camping sites become flooded and your campsite may be under 3 to 5 inches of water for days. I have often seen many tent campers as well as other campers in this situation for days watching their belongings literally float. When this flooding situation was brought to the attention of park management they say yes they knew about the flooding but could not do anything about it or even provide a refund. Just be aware of this when making a reservation. One additional note, if your are on vacation and you would like to sleep past 7am this may not be the campground for you. The dumpsters are emptied by the waste company at around 7am every morning. There are four to five dumpsters and boy do they create a lot of noise when they are emptied. It sounds like thunder every morning at around 7am for about 10-15 minutes. When this was brought to the attention of park management asking them if they could ask the waste company if the dumpsters could be emptied at a little later time of day, their reply was "we are just happy that they get emptied at all". Quite helpful don't you think? Not really customer oriented but a typical state employee.

On a positive note, this state park is in an ideal location. It is right along the Indian River inlet close to great fishing and within walking distance to a clean guarded beach. The bath houses, rest rooms and showers are kept very clean by outside staff. I should also mention that there is now a much newer campground on the north side of the inlet that has 3 point hook up. Just be aware that this 3 point hook up is different than most you have ever seen, and I am not sure why. The water, sewer and electric are all spaced very far apart. 10 to 20 feet apart, so you had better position your unit just right or have some very, very long hoses and cables. On the south side campground the water, sewer and electric are in very close proximity to each other. I have attached some photos leading into and around the main road of the campground and a photo of one of the many flooded areas. I could have posted these same photos easily five years or more ago because no repairs have ever been made. As long as your car, motor home or camper has good steering to get around the pot holes or good shocks to go through them you should hopefully be okay. I am not sure if their intention was to use all of these pot holes as speed bumps or not, but if they were it is a little bit of overkill. If they were intended as speed bumps I can only assume you will be seeing pot holes on the north inlet side soon.

Sea shore view.

We stayed here 2 nights unfortunately it rained one of the days. we did get in some bike riding when it wasn't raining . The woman that checked us in was so friend and funny. She told us about thing to do in town.
The bridge is very pretty at night

Beautiful place to spend the day!

Clean & beautiful park to spend the day whether you are sitting on the beach, riding your bike on the trails or camping for the weekend.

The definitive place to relax on the beach!

By Wonderbeard |

A few miles down the highway from Dewey Beach Delaware is Indian River Inlet where boaters and campers enjoy everything Delaware Beaches have to offer! Public Restrooms and showers; a snack bar and an upstairs restaurant RIGHT ON THE BEACH! What more could one ask for to relax in the summer sun? We had PERFECT BEACH WEATHER ALL WEEK LONG!!

Very nice

By COLEVILLE |

Enjoyed the beach on our two day trip to Rehobeth. Only one day at the beach because one day the surf was to rough. Very pretty there. Nice not seeing condos. We usually stay on the beach. So since we didn't this was the perfect place to go to.very nice. There is a $10 charge for out of staters. Only two of us. Wish we had more people in the car because then it would be a better deal. Not complaining. There are restrooms and food and drinks if you need it. Which is good

Amazing

By Dawn H |

This is one of my favorite spots to visit. The day we went to the park was 2 days after hurricane Jose came up the coast. The water was a little rough and did go further up the beach than I am used to, This trip was the most enjoyable I have had there due to the unexpected surprise of being able to watch dolphins play near the shore. The beach was not overly crowded and we chose to visit mid-week. I enjoyed the new restaurant/bar that is now there. The view was amazing but prices slightly high. As we visited off-season, there was not a person there to collect the parking fee. We were expected to leave cash in an envelop. I did not have change and had to go to the restaurant to ask for change. Luckily, they just opened up and were able to accommodate. After enjoying the beach and restaurant, we explored by walking both under the bridge and across the bridge. We had an amazing time and were able to get great pictures.

Perfect location

By Jennifer |

Very happy with this campground. Best of all worlds. Beach on one side marina on the other. Great location close to everything. Not sure why there are bad reviews. Beach camping is just that, do not expect to be surrounded by trees cooking over a campfire. If you want that you select where you are camping accordingly. Restrooms clean, volunteers very friendly and helpful. Bring your boogie boards! Loved it here. Would stay again.

Really love the beach

By BHUANG69 |

The water is not far from the beach and so you get to soak your feet in the water in a minute after you get on the sand. I like to come here in the evening when the sand is not hot and to digest my dinner. It is wonderful to smell the salty ocean and hear the sea gulls.

Truly Beautiful beach! i fall in love every year i go! <3

Truly a beautiful beach, i love going every summer it always a relaxing trip, it very easy to access, the price for out of state it alittle much at times but all in all worth it,

Gorgeous beaches with lifeguards, ample parking and facilities that include a snack bar, sit down restaurant, and restrooms with showers are all in one place.
Great for a day trip.
If you have a Golden Access pass for the national parks, admission is free.

Our favorite beach

This beach has all the amenities. Good place to go to spend the day. It has clean restrooms, showers, lifeguards and several dining options. For $10.00 a carload it's a fabulous deal. Come after 5pm and parking is free. Enjoy a drink or dinner at the restaurant and finish with a walk on the beach.

Beautiful location --- TERRIBLE, RUDE STAFF

By Dale M |

We booked a 3-night stay at this campground south of Rehoboth Beach. It is a beautiful campground near the seashore (a gorgeous stretch of beach). The campground has 2 loops divided by an inlet. Traffic was lighter than we expected so we arrived an hour before the 1p check-in time. We pulled in to ensure we were at the right loop and the woman at the gate was extremely rude, yelling at us that we were early. She could not even bother to get out of her chair so my husband had to hang out the window to show her our paperwork. We understood we were early and had no problem going to an overflow area but again she could not be bothered to direct us to that overflow. So very rude. (And apparently, this is the norm from other reviews we have read.) By the way, our site was open so we could have easily pulled in when we arrived. But we waited until the designated time. We had a nice site; the sites are tight but adequate. This is a very popular location so pleasant service does not seem to be required! (In all fairness, we sent a note directly to the park and did receive a response and apology so if we were in the area, we would try this location again.)

Nice beach, awesome campground?

By pasherry |

We take our RV to this state park. There are at least 100 campsites including big rigs to tents. The RV sites have full hookups. There is a nice playground and you can walk to the beach or fish on the inlet. The beach is less crowded than Bethany or Rehoboth beaches, there are lifeguards and a concession area. The campsite is adequate, you can buy ice. The camp sites are $45-50/night, less for DE residents. You do have to book several months in advance during the summer season.

Camping at the beach, water views, trails and more!

By Debbie P |

One of the nicest campgrounds we've visited! Delaware Seashore State Park is located at the inlet by the Indian River just south of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. There are two sections - north and south. We stayed in the north section, which was near the marina and an abundance of trails. The beach was just a short walk away or an even quicker bike ride. Our spot had an amazing view of the river yet was convenient to the beach, the bathhouse, the playground and more. Our campsite was a back-in but had ample room for our 5th wheel and slides. Each site is equipped with water, sewer and up to 50 amp electric. No cable. No internet. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the proximity to the marina and Hammerheads Dockside Bar. The beach is also part of the state park and allows surfing, fishing and driving on the beach (certain parts). It's much less crowded than the nearby public beaches. My only disappointment is the popularity of the park once school lets out - with few unreserved sites this summer, it will be hard to come back. Will have to plan ahead for next year!

BOOO BBQ

By annzseltvay |

We came for the BOOO BBQ festival for the weekend. We had the pleasure and opportunity to taste delicious beer and Of course BBQ. We stayed with our large group of friends which our more like our camping family. They have kids and teenagers, we are lucky just having a black lab mix. Clean campground, quiet hours at 10, play ground for kiddos, nice beach and accessible walk areas. Beautiful stay!

Great beach

By Ed E |

We have gone here for years, it is easy access and nice not overly crowded beach with plenty of room to spread out and play beach games.

Great Place to use a yearly pass

By William L |

This is great place to experience the beach. Every year we buy an "out of state" yearly pass (senior price). While we don't use it more than 5 or 6 times, we like the abundant parking and facilities, We have used both entrances to the park. The southern access is north of Rehoboth and the northern access is in Lewes. While Lewes has most of the action (fishing pier, lighthouse, nature center, large changing and shower facilities) we like the relatively quiet beachwear Rehoboth. It is especially great in the early fall. The yearly pass also gives you access to all the other state parks.

Cape Henlopen State Park

By mike m |

Otherwise known as Cape Henlopen. A few different choices of Beach and lots of biking walking trails.

They Allow Dogs

By SightSeer111 |

A great place to visit with the dog! Unlike Rehoboth beach and Dewey beach, there aren't day/hour restrictions and license requirements for the dog. There are places to rent an umbrella and chairs (although they ran out of chairs) and a small concession stand.

Easy Walk to the Beach!

By drhoehn |

Stayed at this campground during the Labor Day Weekend. Stayed on the South Inlet side - so many positives - beach is with in walking distance, small restaurant on the beach, biking trails, bathhouse was adequate. Our bathhouse had a push button shower which was a little frustrating (bathhouse by the tent area were normal). Campsites on the South side are pull through, but tight ... you have the feel of being on the inside of the oval of a NASCAR track. Drainage is poor - it rained several times which create small lakes at some of the campsites. Note: the North Inlet side is newer, all back in spots, more personal space, greener, and much better drainage. Sunsets/sunrises where awesome, beach was clean, and fishing / kayaking / stand up boards are all close by. Easy access to shopping, food, and the boardwalk.

friends, family, couples beach day

By mandy4press |

I think there are a few beaches in de state seashore park. my friends and I always go to towers beach it's one of the first lefts right after you get out of dewey. so about 10 mins further then rehobeth. there's signs you can't miss it ! a lot less crowded then rehoboth. no parking meters. there is a $5 fee for in state, don't remember out of state fee. but you can't get away from fees at any beach (I've looked). pretty clean. bath house is decent. small snack shack on site. life guards. no dogs. no driving on the beach. Would definitely suggest this over Rehoboth because it's a quieter environment unless you're looking for a boardwalk. But if you want a boardwalk I would just go to Ocean City Maryland , it's a lot bigger and the rides are better!

The park was great, but I don't recommend camping during a tropical storm

By Cherolldzy |

We camped here this past weekend. We knew about the possible hurricane, but because it was supposed to turn we decided to continue with our trip. The bathhouses are beautiful for a state park, actually the best I have ever seen at a campground. Needless to say, we did not have the best weather, but hope to go back when the weather is a little less windy and rainy. The sites are flat and come with a picnic table.

Nice Beach Area

By Susan W |

Really enjoyed the beach at the state park. Watched Dolphin off the coast. need your chairs, unbrella, they do have a small concession stand there.. Sometimes somewhat hard to get in, since it is a public park. (parking)

So awesome

By Deb C |

A must visit. Walk the beach, swim, treasure hunt or fish. In summer, there are lots of folks enjoying the seashore but you never feel crowded. Keep your eyes open for the groups of dolphins showing off. Off season is wonderful for locals to walk the beach and enjoy the beauty.

The beast beaches in DE for just going to the Beach

By Harry W |

If you want to go to The Beach, and not have the boardwalk and tons of people, but just want a relaxing day on the beach, this is your spot. There are several access points along DE1 and there is a bath house if needed. Some of the locations have on-beach vehicle driving for surf fishing too.

Any of the spots are fun and s great break from noise and crowds of the boardwalk-beaches.

Good beach, but much work is needed in the area.

By Seasidesandi |

Paying to use the beach and not even a trash can to get rid of your garbage, whose idea was this? Food concession is dirty and needs a redo. Bath houses are less than desirable.

Relaxing

By Debbie P |

The parking is close to the beach and very convenient. The restrooms, bathhouse, concessions were very nice. The beach is great - lots of room for big families. You don't feel like you are being squeezed into a small area.

Better than the boardwalk beach

By melly900 |

Yes, you have to pay to get in. But at the end of the day, I have a short walk to my car, a bath house to wash the sand off, and a full belly from the snack bar.

Great beach

By dpolich1964 |

Very clean, family oriented. Requires entry fee or park pass but free parking. Lifeguards are on duty.

Great RV Camp Ground and Beach

By Phillip L |

We had a great middle of the week 3 day RV camp out and beach visit. Spaces are a little small but we have great neighbors. Bathrooms, Showers and Laundry were very nice and clean. Camp ground minders seem to be around but we have some trouble checking in and have the golf cart lady after us for same. It rained one day but dried up very quickly.

3R's Beach danger

By David S |

There is a dangerous underwater obstacle located in the surf about 10 yards out from the shore break and about 150 yards North of the access point. I struck it with my right knee while diving into a wave completely rupturing my quad tendon. The park staff was entirely uninterested in investigating whatever exists under the water. I strongly advise against swimming in the surf here.

Nice campground

By moonkitty |

Very nice campground, larger sites, great fishing, beach a short walk. I like that you can take your dogs on the beach from the north side. I don't like the showers, they made no changing area with the shower so as soon as you get out of the shower you are in the open, anyone could walk in. No curtain for the whole shower area. For a new bathhouse, lousy planning.
I do like the area, the beach, the fishing if that's your thing. If you are waling your dogs, watch for sandburrs as our dogs got them as soon as they went off the path. We camped for 3 nights and would definitely go back.

Beautiful Beach

By skiace2015 |

The campground is not the greatest. It's like camping in a giant parking lot - no trees and an asphalt base. Plus, campfires are prohibited. The restrooms are nice and the showers are free. Within walking distance is the lovely, uncrowded beach. I'm not sure but I think if you go in the off season the $10 charge per car load is waived.

This place is AWESOME!

By KIMBERLY B |

My husband and I have been wanting to try this site for some time now. We are new to camping and just fell in love with this place. Everything about this place is AWESOME! The atmosphere, the views, the sounds, the cleanliness and the staff.

A really lovely stretch of undeveloped beach

By Wanderlust777 |

Mid-week at the end of September, the beach was deserted except for a lone man out with a metal detector. Lots of parking available at the various pull-offs and just a beautiful endless stretch of sand. Wonderful!

Cottages

By Jrac |

Great family vacation. Cottages were perfect. Clean, comfortable, great location. So much to do in town and along board walk. Beaches were nice and bath houses were clean. Price was reasonable and well worth it, will definitely be visiting again and would definitely recommend checking it out!

Camping at Delaware Seashore State Park

By Karen P |

We camped for several days at the Delaware Seashore State Park July 2016. The first night we stayed in the newer North campground. It is less crowded then the older South campground, the lots and showers/restrooms are nicer. I liked being able to walk to the marina restaurant where the food was great with a little outdoor atmosphere tables. Music in the afternoons. There is also a nice bait/tackle shop.

We moved to the South campground the end of our trip. Much more crowded, sandy, dogs everywhere. Bathrooms were updated but not as spacious as North side. We liked the beach side better on the South with the restrooms, showers, lunch grill. There is also a camp store with limited supplies. We would like to come back to this Park and would choose the North side first over South side.

Bring a good book & let the warm sand & ocean waves take you away!

By Mare C |

A great clean place to unwind and soak up the rays while enjoying the best of nature.
Pickup lunch and snacks on your way in so you take take advantage of a full day. Bring your umbrella, chair and plenty of lotion too!

Wonderful Beach

By DocMacD |

This is a great beach to go to with your family along the Delaware seashore. It is a large beach with plenty of lifeguard stations, umbrella/chair rentals, restrooms and a food concession. There is easy ramp access to cut down on going over the dunes. We were there in late July and it wasn't nearly as crowded as the main beach in Rehoboth. I only wish they had a week pass instead of the daily $10 fee for out of state residents.

Get away

A great beach to visit wide open natural beach is refreshing without all the clatter. There is a snack bar if you need refreshments and a snack.

Sunsets

By Tom D |

Went to visit the Indian river bridge inlet area and views of the bridge that lights up in blue at dark and also the area is perfect for watching the sunset on the ocean or bay

It's the beach

By Robin B |

Lovely long beach, not very crowed with plenty of space to swim, fish, or walk. IF you have kids there are plenty of life guards who are very attentive

Fewer crowds than Rehoboth's public beach

By lkuta13 |

Delaware Seashore has much less crowds during the season than the public beaches at Ocean City and Rehoboth. In that, it is worth the cost of entry. You can buy discounted ticket books at the park office that get you multiple days of entry. Keep in mind that some areas do allow fishing--there is a specific fish beach. You would not want to swim there.

Delaware State Park system is awesome. Many beaches to visit.

By 2Luv2explore |

We usually go to Indian River Inlet beach. Great bathhouse and often will see a park employee answering questions and providing education about the creatures and nature found in the area. Always a good experience. State parks are "carry in, carry out" so no trash cans on beaches. There are volunteers who work very hard to pick up discarded trash along the inlet. I will never understand why people find it necessary to throw their trash down wherever they feel like it. Delaware residents are justifiably proud of this great treasure and work hard to help keep it a special place for everyone - even a few inconsiderate folks.

Great beach, okay campground

By Paul E |

The best part of the campground is the access to the beach. The beach is great, the sand clean, great access to a good bath house and the beaches are protected by first rate life guards. The campground is okay. The spots have full hookups but are very cramped with no shade. In 2017 the playground is closed. The place floods when it rains. Overall I recommend it for the water access, but the campground is just okay.

Great campground

By Ashley C |

The campground is clean, bathrooms are clean and well tended too. There is a campground store that has pretty much any essential you'd need if you forgot to pack something. My fiancé and I are return guests to this park. The one thing that wasn't as great was the massive puddles that formed all around the campground from the rain. Because the campground is at the sea shore and very much in the open (no trees, etc) there is a lot of wind! Also, there is a reviewer on here that said you can't walk across the bridge. That's false, there is a sidewalk on one side.

Best Place for Walking

By Original_Shrut |

We love to walk on the Tower Rd. Section of the beach. There is ample parking in the shoulder seasons but you need to go earlier in the morning during the Summer.

The beach is flatter than Cape Henlopen S. P. so the waves are gentler. This also spreads the wrack line further so shelling and sea glass hunting can be very satisfying, especially in winter.

Great pricacy if you go early!

By Doreen M |

The seashore park has some of my favorite is beaches in Delaware. Personal favorite is the Conquest road beach. This is perfect if you want to enjoy just the sound of the waves. I would go early, get there by 8:00 and ready to go at noon. Miss a lot of traffic and annoying boom boxes. Plus you have the nice feature of not having to be blanket to blanket. That is, until the one group of extended family members decide to plant themselves right next to you when the beach is empty. Obviously the beach being empty is a sign to huddle, go figure. 15 adults, children and of course the family dog!
So, go early, travel light as you will wake over some dunes. Lots of times there are no lifeguards, you can fish and not as many rules. And if you have Delaware tags, you only pay half as much to park in the lot. Hey, maybe it's just me but I like the sound of the waves and not a bunch of boom boxes.
There are no stores or restaurants here, just beach - so if that is what you like....go early on a weekday and leave by noon. You'll be happy you did!

Family beach day

By Rick and Christ... G |

We loved this beach. We chose the entrance away from the bath house which was less crowded. This allowed us to spread out and gave our boys room to play in the sand without getting sound on others. We also had a direct line of vision from our umbrella spot directly down to the water without having to walk through an obstacle course to get there. The beach was very clean and relaxing.

Awesome site!!

By Trina P |

Clean, convenient and close to beach and attractions. We loved camping here. People were friendly, beach was clean and close.

"Beach front only"

By Nona75 |

This is the second time we've been here, however we stayed on the South side the first time. We opted for the North side this time to try a little something different. Both sides are about the same - bathhouses, sand and paved sites, lots of sun and beach within walking distance. There is no WiFi, no cable ( we only got about 14 channels and they came in and out all the time ) Sites are pretty close - no shade available besides your own awning. Staff is always friendly and helpful - there is always lots of dogs - some that obey the leash rules and some that don't : ( The bathrooms and laundry room (only 2 washers and 2 dryers) have NO trashcans in either but they ask you to clean up behind yourself. The whole week we were there, they cleaned the bathrooms at around 8 am, which was peak time campers needed to use the restroom. BTW, my husband said there is only 2 toliets and 2 urinals - however the week we were there, one toilet was OUT OF ORDER the entire time. I said in my last review they need a dog park or better area for pets - both times we have visited there are LOTS of dogs and no where to really walk them or let them play. There is no 'camping store' on the North side and the store on the South side is VERY LIMITED. Make sure you come with all your supplies or you will need to drive into town. I will say though there is a very nice restaurant/bar within walking distance on the North side - HAMMERHEADS - it's a great place to eat, relax, listen to live music and enjoy the Indian River inlet. There is also a bait shop that sells ice that beats the $5 a bag they try to sell at the checkin office of the campground.
Overall the price of this place with full hookups and having a beach out your front door or fishing is good. Just don't come with high expectations of amenities

Solitude on The Inlet!!!!!

This is a wonderful gem to the state park system of Delaware. Born and raised through my youth, I love this state and this park is for lovers of the sea. Indian River Inlet is a "quiet diamond!

My families new yearly camping spot

By princss2332 |

We loved spending a few days here. While on a road trip with our RV, we decided to spend a few days at the ocean. If you are looking for a shaded awesome campground, this is not the place. It's basically a place to park your rv for a few days to enjoy the beach. It was paved, full hook up sites which was a definite plus! We were also a few min walk from the beach. My kids could not get enough of this place! The beach wasn't over crowded and they absolutely loved the ginormous waves! We decided it would be a yearly destination spot for us to come!

South Side sites flood

By Inspire04136952302 |

Our south side site flooded after a heavy rain and remained flooded for days. The site was unusable. The park has known about this problem for years yet does nothing to solve it. Many other sites on the south side were also flooded and unusable. More rain was forecast and we left four days early.

Vistas all Around

The park is situated in such a way you get views all around...admission is $5.00 per car and there are places to swim and picnic...there's even a restaurant within walking distance...

Great place to get away from the crowds of Rehoboth Beach

By rak1957 |

A trip to the beach to Rehoboth Beach can be crowded and noisy during particular times of the year. A nice alternative is to head north to the Delaware Seashore State Park which requires an entrance fee.
However, there is some very nice advantages, the beach parking area is large (free after park admission), a large beach on the ocean, a concession stand that has food, drink, and snacks, a shower and restroom area.
If you are looking for alternative to the boardwalk / crowded beach of Rehoboth, consider trying the state park.

Great Park

By rca19 |

This is a great place to visit for a day trip to the beach. Out of state parking is $10 - in state parking is $5 - and PLENTY of parking. Beautiful, clean beach. Very clean facilities: bathrooms, showers and changing rooms. Easy access to the beach via wooden ramps from the bath house. Snacks available also (even a grill with French Fries, hot dogs, etc) Life guards on duty.

Nice place...

By spb12345 |

I had read the reviews, so I knew what to expect. It is true that it is a parking lot with hookups. However, it is right on the ocean and the ocean smell is very nice. I think that the price is very reasonable and the location is perfect. All that said, I took off a star because the bathrooms were not cleaned the entire time I was there. I had a site right next to the bathrooms, and I saw no one for an entire week. Everytime I went inside, the same bathroom tissue was on the floor in the same exact spot.

Burton's Island Loop Trail

By Gabrielle S |

Great park for fishing, camping, and the beach. Only one real hiking trail in the whole park around Burton's Island Nature Preserve (1.3 mile loop, flat, easy, gravel/sand unpaved trail). Some restaurants there and plenty of parking.

A review of the campground.

By JerseyShoreGirl123 |

This is where this website gets weird. As a "thing to do" Delaware seashore state park is 5 circles excellent. The beach is great lifeguards friendly and there are lots of them. Snack bar food looked good too. Lots of showers and changing stalls. As a "place to stay" it is average. Its actually less of a campground and more of a "place to park your camper" if that makes sense. The sites are really tight. I can understand having no shade because of the location but the sites are crazy small. Full hookups were great to have. No fires allowed. Bathrooms are clean enough and showers are clean. Playground is nice with some seats in the shade. Noise from the bridge is pretty loud. After a heavy rain most of the place was flooded. There is a dart (shuttle) stop right there so that is something great. If you are going primarily to fish or go to the beach, this is a pretty good spot. If you are going to "camp" you will be disappointed as you will most likely be hanging out at your site staring at the back of someone else's camper. I would go again since I would be there for the beach and the close proximity for exploring all the surrounding towns.

Great Park

By R M |

We enjoyed the newer North Inlet Campground, nice campground close to the water and close to shopping and dinning. All sites on the north-side are back in, FHU, 20/30/50 amp, blacktop site and table. Very clean bath house and laundry house. Your away from the crowds but close if needed. We camped in a fifthwheel.

Gilled to Grilled

By zjcoombs |

Went for a fishing instruction and charter trip through the state park. Stayed in a cabin along the inlet.

Great trip! Staff was excellent. Every activity had a backup plan in case of weather.

Very relaxing and flexible trip. Would recommend to experienced fisherman or first timers.

Stayed 1 night, after fishing charter

By bgdiver1963 |

stayed site 290. corner drive thru. Basic, no trees for shade. Full hookups. Restrooms clean. Did not use shower facilities. Can walk along shoreline to beach area. There a bitting flies--take something to keep them off you. small store for supplies

chigger and fly epidemic

By blackriverwoman |

My husband had to be treated for severe infected chigger and fly bites on his feet, ankles, legs, torso, etc. with prednisone and antibiotics. Don't go on the beach or trails, you will be eaten alive. We even used Off deep woods continuously while on the beach to no avail.

Quiet beach away from the crowds

By Anne D |

If you want the beach without the smell of Thrashers fries, check out the sand at this park. Umbrella and chair rentals are available, as are regularly cleaned porta-potties, and if you bike in there is no fee.

Our go to beach

By pagsxriders |

A nice beach area with life guards on duty. They have a small snack bar but we take a picnic lunch. They do have picnic tables and a few charcoal grills for use for free. Clean beach area. They also have restrooms with flushable toilets and showers for a quick rinse after a day covered in sand! No trash cans as you MUST take everything with you that you bring. They do have free small bags to collect your own trash.

Pleasant Beach, Less Crowded than Rehoboth

By Ashburn1 |

Hotel staff suggested this beach, a few miles south of Rehoboth, when we noted how crowded the Rehoboth beaches were. It's beside an old World War II submarine watch tower, so there's a little connection with WW II history. The beach itself is clean and there are lifeguards every 400 years or so. They actually communicate with each other using semiphore-like hand signals. There will be a good number of bathers clustered close to the lifeguard stands, but you can find good space close to the surf if you walk up or down the beach 50-100 yards. The water has been fairly calm when we've been there. My only wish would be for a more gradual slope as one wades away from the shoreline. The waves tend to break close to the shore, and that's not ideal for body surfing. However, the overall experience is relaxed and comfortable. There is a large bathroom/changing facility where you enter the beach, and a boardwalk over the dune makes walking there easier. As an additional touch this year, the park has added carpet runners going up from the beach to the stairs, making the ascent after bathing so much easier. Well done! As noted in another review, you will be charged $10 for an out-of-state car (us) or $5 if you have Delaware plates. I think there may be a discount plan for regular bathers, but we aren't there often enough to inquire. All in all, a very nice place to spend a relaxing day away from the bustle of Rehoboth's beach.

Fun, fun, fun

By Luckyinlove2000 |

Stayed at the cabins in February 2016. It was a very nice time. The beaches were empty and quiet. The cabins are very cozy and comfortable. Would not want to visit in the summer I'm sure it gets very busy with people.

DC Daytrippin': DE Seashore

By cwahoff |

Living in the Northern Virginia/DC metropolitan area, this is one of our favorite summer day trips. Both Delaware Seashore State Park and Cape Henlopen State Park offer a beautiful beach, lifeguards, bath house and restroom facilities, and the opportunity to enjoy a day at the beach. We always pack a lunch, drink, and snacks, but there is a restaurant on the south side beach. The water can be chilly - - quite chilly, even in summer; so, if you are anticipating the warmth of more southern destinations (NC, SC, FL), adjust your expectations. There is camping at the north side of the park, as well as a marina on the Indian River. Typically we are day-tripping, so we break in the later afternoon, clean up and change at the bath house, and head to Rehoboth for an early dinner and a box of Dolle's salt water taffy - - and then head home.

Paradise

By kuttfam |

This is our favorite beach in Delaware. We visit all year round. We enjoy the off season the best. Beautiful unspoiled beach. Dogs are allowed in the north side of the inlet. South side of the inlet has a bath house. We find lots of sea glass and sea shells here. Nothing calms and unites the family more than walking the beach looking for treasures. It is a very safe area!

Hazards on the Paths, No Hot Water in the Shower

By slaterinde |

I've been going to this beach for years and I love it here. For just $10 (I'm now out-of-state), I can spend the day at a beautiful place.
This time however, the beach was still great, but I injured myself going from the parking lot to the beach and the showers had no hot water.
Readers beware: the injury occurred as I was dragging our cart over the dune closest to the building on the left side as you face the beach. I was moving along and suddenly stepped on a buried sharpened stick, it looked like an old piece of fencing that had broken off and become buried - I tried to pull it up but it was buried too deep. My foot is injured badly enough that I had to cancel the rest of my Memorial Day fun activities (golf, walking, running).
The other issue is that the showers had no hot water which is self-explanatory. I'm surprised no one had a heart attack. I can almost see the lawyers lining up to sue the State.
This memory will linger for a long time with me - I'm not sure I can justify coming back. Get your act together Delaware!

Best place in Delaware

By Gregoo7 |

Best beaches on the east coast!! Super clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. WWII towers add a fun background. Even has a marina with a super fun water side restaurant with delicious crab cakes and orange crushes.

big new parking lot

By bill e |

this beach has it all great bath house ,good food you can purchase. this is a beach where you can fish and have a lifeguard protected swimming at the same time.

Nice beach

By Nicola R |

This beach is between Rehobeth and Ocean City. It's not crowded and the concession stand is great. The campground was fun also!!! The bridge was neat how it closed blue at night Hope to return soon!!!

Disappointing

By Janet W |

We stayed in the campground in a class A motor home. The only redeeming factors we found were the proximity to the beach, the playground and the cleanliness of the bath houses. The RV's were packed in like sardines, there were no trees, fire rings or garbage cans. We were traveling with a couple of dogs and there was no place for them to run, although there was one beach area where they were allowed to walk on leash.

Better than Rehoboth

By SadWhiteWolf |

My friends and I like to go here first for our beach time and then into Rehoboth for the boardwalk. It's only $5 ($10 out of state) per car so you can really save on the parking. The best feature is the shower house where you can rinse of and change after a day covered in sand. Also a great place to go if you are trying to save money by not having you kids see all the Boardwalk distractions, less "Mommy I want that/can we?"

Great doggy beach

By michelle c |

Had a great day with my son and dog! Barely anyone there and lots of shells!
Fun pool area where kids and dogs played.
You can drive on this beach too.

Nice for a day trip

By Kate185 |

We've been coming to this beach for years for day trips. Costs $8 for out of state visitors. We pack a lunch, go to the beach, then shower at the bath house afterwards and then drive the short distance to the Rehoboth Boardwalk. The beach is always clean at the park and though the bath house isn't fancy, it gets the job done.

Love the beach

By Lorraine D |

Great if u love the beach. Marina and shore within 5 min walking distance. On inlet. Not good for tent campers though. Have to drive to places for food and entertainment. Great if looking for quiet, relaxation.

Try on a pleasant wintertime day

By TomWall60 |

If the weather is decent, the beach is great for walking and enjoying the clear ocean views. You won't get this opportunity in season. There are some pull off and parking areas along the east side of the coastal highway.

Great Beach on Delaware Coast!!

By rfsalomone |

Nice clean beach with big bathhouse. Waves are big and may be tough for young kids but great for older kids. They have umbrella and chair rentals so you don't have to lug that kind of stuff there. They have a concession stand with the basics. 5 dollars if you live in Delaware and 10 for tourists. Soft sand great for kids.

family friendly

By Robert R |

great and safe place to haul your little ones to the beach. white sandy beaches that are raked often. carry in carry out rules and please obey that. life guards on duty at peak times in season. bathroom facilities avalable in all locations except a few with johnny on the spots. enjoy our beaches , help us keep them pristine.

beautiful

By Kim S |

Did not stop by drove by. Beautiful natural peaceful setting, less crowded than beaches near boardwalk.

Beaches, fishing, and camping. But be careful when selecting your site.

By Patrick G |

Large park with camping, easy beach access, and fishing opportunities. Friendly, helpful staff. Camp sites are in close proximity with no cover. Sites are paved and level with water, electric, and sewer available. Bath and shower facilities are clean but inadequate for the number of campsites. Be prepared to wait. Parts of the campground flooded during our stay, leaving some sites under a foot or more of water. Try to avoid the sites near the river or marsh. There are two bars/restaurants within walking distance, depending on what campground you stay in. Many more restaurants are a short drive away. We would stay again when passing thru.

Good RV'ing - Great Experience

By Anne T |

We visited and camped here for the first time over Columbus Day Weekend, 2015. We were in town for the Annual Greyhounds Reach the Beach Event as well as some of our Good Sam Club friends were coming for the holiday. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the campground and enjoyed all of the park. We stayed on the South Inlet Side. This is a state park and not a resort, but the 50 amp full hook up pull through site was very appreciated. The sites are small, but I didn't get the feeling that the people next to us were "on top" of us. No, there are not trees or grass, but this is the beach. If you want to camp at a beach, this is pretty much perfect. This place has the most amazing sunsets. The dogs also enjoyed the camping and the beach. They particularly enjoyed hiking the nature trail on the North Inlet side as well as having lunch with us at the outdoor Hammerheads Restaurant (good beer, great food!). The bathhouses were new and modern, actually some of the nicest we have seen. They must have update the bathhouses since some of the bad reviews because everything was new. The only negative is that one evening when we went to the beach the flies were biting the dogs. We'll have to bring something the next time to repel the flies. My understanding from the locals is that the flies are bad when there is a western wind. There are also no campfires at the individual sites. This is understandable because all around is beach scrub plants that would go up in flames in a moment.

You may wonder - should I camp at the North or South Inlet. To be honest, both sides seemed to have about the same size campsite area except the end units on the North Side are bigger. If you have a motorhome, the South Side, sites 201 to 211 are the best. Because of the pull through, we kept our front windows open like a bay window. The view of the river and sunsets was awesome. The playground on the North Side is much bigger than the one on the South Side, but the South Side is still a good playground. The beach is closer on the South Side. There are more fishermen to watch on the South Side. Hammerheads and the boat marina is on the North Side. There are more pull throughs on the South Side. Either side you stay on, you can't go wrong.

We'll be coming back here next year. Hope to see you there!

"Beachy"

By Michelle C |

Overall, we really do love this campground. The only issue that we had was the amount of trash, cigarette butts, fishing lines surrounding the campground and near the waterways. It's a very quiet place and the view of the bridge at night is quite cool. There was quite a bit of potholes in the roadways to the sites. The staff was very friendly. We stayed on the southside.

Beautiful Clean Beach!

By geminigirlNewYork |

It was our first visit here and we were very impressed with this park. It was easy to get to and the seashore was just pristine. Not to mention, quite, and we were the only ones there.....we seen shore birds, seashells, horseshoe crab. It was a lovely walk on the shore.

Great Beach Camping

By Timothy C |

It doesn't get any better than this for beachfront camping. We enjoyed a full hook up sites. A quite campground. And a beach just 200 yards away.

Beautiful Views of Sunrise and Sunset

By Luvs2Travel321 |

I stayed at site 433 for 2 nights. The site was level, there were sewer, water, and electricity hookups. The only issue I had was the 30 amp outlet didn’t work. Luckily I had a converted for the 50 amp to 30 amp connection but it could have been very unfortunate if I didn’t. There was no campground attendant on duty and it was around Labor Day weekend. Overall, the site was nicely maintained and they had a laundry facility onsite. Being close to the Charles Cullen bridge made it easy to eat at Big Chill Beach Club and walk to Coin Beach.

Nice pace to camp in Rehoboth and Bethany area

By Irene G |

There aren't a lot of good camping options close to the beach but this state park is a good choice. Pros include waterfront location; walking distance to a beautiful, uncrowded beach (you need to cross the bridge to the guarded beach); inlet fishing; playground; equidistant to Rehoboth and Bethany; and newer bathroom facilities. Cons include no trees; windy; traffic and bridge noise, and no commercial campground amenities (pool, cable, etc) if you're looking for those. The spectacular bridge, lit like a giant blue sailing ship at night, makes up for some of it.

Great park!

By Ginger B R |

Spent a Saturday afternoon here and had a great time. It was very crowded, so if you want to spend time at the beach (which is quite narrow), come early. We barely had a place to park in the very large lot. The park was well-staffed, however, and there were employees helping you find a spot. We found it a very interesting place to walk, as you have the beach, the area where people fish, and that beautiful bridge which affords terrific views. Then there's an elevated bar for refreshments afterwards. Fabulous!

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

By wideawake7 |

We just got back from a vacation here and we loved every minute of it. Typically we go to Cape Cod or RI beaches but this is where I want to return in the future. The beaches are wonderful, the fees are minimal ($10 all day parking for all the beaches in the park). One day the waves were huge which wasn't great for the little ones but they had a great time at the edge. The crowd is very mellow and polite. No seaweed, minimal rocks. Beautiful sunsets. We really hope to return!

Great natural beach

By Prawet J |

The Delaware Seashore State Parks are strings of beacfhes between towns on the Atlantic Coast (starts right after Dewey Beach to Indian River). The beach is miles and miles with non-crowded white sand and dunes and no commercials shopping places except consession stand at the bathhouse. Certain sections are reserved for surfing and fishing. There are areas for swimming. If you love the beach in the off season, go the the State Park beach to enjoy the nature and free (no entrance fee after certain date in the Fall).

Secluded Seashore

By Love2trvlalot |

Miles of sandy seashore with pounding Atlantic surf. Good for solitude and fresh sea air. Shells abound but little to no sea glass. Definitely DO NOT try to swim here as the surf is much too rough and the rip currents dangerous.

Beautiful beach

By Lonny B |

We were travelling back to Florida and wanted a nice route. so after coming over on the Cape May-Lewes ferry, we headed for this park. It was beautiful with the ocean on one side and the bay on the other of this very narrow strip.
Entrance to out of state cars was $10 which is fair. The beach is well maintained and there are bathroom and shower facilities.
It was a wonderful way to spend a few hours while on the road.

Great family beach weekend!

By dewhee32 |

Nice weekend at the beach tent camping with extended family. The beach was great--clean, safe, and easy to access from the camping area. There could have been a bit more signage, but we explored and found our way to the beach.

Where we were camping, the bathrooms were not to our satisfaction as three of the four sinks in a ladies bathroom were not working the entire weekend. All using the ladies room had to make do with one sink.

Overall, we had a nice stay and would return.

A great day at the beach

By noreen s |

I love this section because my friend enjoys fishing at the inlet while I enjoy the beach. Plenty of boats to watch coming and going and often the dolphins are just off shore.

Bath House is Filthy and Disgusting!!!

The Bath House is so dirty!!! There is Pink Mold on Shower curtains!! Probably has not been cleaned all summer!!!! I would not recommend using Bath House unless you want to catch Athletes Feet, SKIN rashes, or some other Disease from the Unsanitary Conditions!!!
Life Guards are too busy Socializing with each other!!! Not doing their jobs that they are being paid for!!

Beautiful Seaside

By orion7be |

We strolled the clean sandy beaches for hours. It was a Friday in July, so was very busy near the visitor center, but thinned out a few hundred yards south. There were lots of families, and it was quiet except for the murmur of beach goers and the crashing waves.

Great beach

This was a fantastic experience! It is a beautiful beach with very nice facilities. It is away from the hustle and bustle of town but close enough to go on frequently. Within driving distance of assateague island which is a must see also.

Our Quiet Beach

We always go to Key Box Rd. Even on the fourth of July we had a spot to our selves...just walk down a little ways from fishermen. Nice and clean. $10 if you are out of state.

Camping near the Beach

By Niki M. |

For Mother's Day weekend, we decided to go to the beach on a whim and Delaware Seashore State Park did the trick. We love camping, so we will usually make the best of wherever we are at, but I will say that there are some people that may not enjoy this location due to it's being wide open and right beside a bridge. There is plenty of open space, but there is no cover from trees, so you are out in the wide open with no protection from the sun. Having said that, the campground was well maintained and the bathrooms/showers were as well. We didn't experience any noise issues or anything of the sort. We chose a site that we were able to face our tent toward the marsh area and it was very peaceful. It was quiet and it was cool to see the blue lights on the bridge at night, the bridge looks neat in the fog as well. The staff that we interacted with were very friendly and accommodating.

As for the beach part, it was great. Since it's a state park, it's naturally crowded, but the beach was well maintained and you can walk to the beach from the campgrounds. I didn't feel like it was a long walk, but other people may think it is. The bathrooms/showers were in good condition and I think they have a snack bar, but we didn't eat there. I would stay there again and I would certainly visit the beach part again as well. :)

Nice beach

By LynnF000 |

Like this beach but no bathrooms. Only nasty pota potties in the parking lot, so I do not go there because I drink a lot of water on the beach and am not using those gross pota potties. They should install some bathrooms.

Surfing for ages 5-8 no drama:)

By Lonewolfandcubs |

As much as I hated climbing up and down a 40 foot dune of sand that was almost vertical TWICE we really got our $10 worth. The south end of the bridge has a beach entrance with a very large grey building that I'm guessing was a bath house. I didn't go in. The backside has a long handicapped ramp deck area that leads to the beach.
We did it the hard way closest to the inlet so I could take the kids closest to the rip rap rock. This year there was a nice 30 feet long area of smoothed packed sand that let the crashing waves come gently to shore and not wash away my children with the strong rip current. The terrible storm had come through the night before and many young men were boogie board surfing the big waves. The kids were with me just a few feet away and getting the feel of each wave without the danger. It was awesome. The surf is full of little sand crabs that dig in quickly and millions of tiny clams and crustacean babies that swim frantically when captured. The kids loved seeing how the sand can be a habitat for so many creatures. I was as stress free as if we were at the boring bayside- but still vigilant of course and never letting them far from arms reach. There are lifeguards as well.
Go ahead and climb the dune if you dare!!

We went here instead

By Sweetpolly's C |

It's a beach, the waves were high, plenty of folks but, still room around you. Beautiful sand. If you are from out of state this part of the beach will cost you $10. The bath houses were well maintained. The pass you buy is good for the whole day and for entrance into the state park where we went biking and saw the musuem.

People don't realize this but the Delaware coast has the cleanest oceans in the united states. Definitely a safe beach to visit.

RV park attached.

By TJ S |

Stayed at the RV park on the Bayside. A five minute walk gets you to the ocean beaches. Great little self serve RV park with the small amenity shop. The beach itself is very nice and clean. The RV park is just a parking lot with all the hook ups. Not a tree in sight.

Worst stay at Delaware Seashore State Park

By Chris |

I have been going to DE State Park camp grounds for over 6 years, we have always had a great experience at the camp and beach. This year we went for July 4th weekend, fireworks were not visible, campers that were not American out numbered the us. The bathrooms and showers were gross and nothing but pigs apparently stayed there. I will not camp there again unfortunately because it was my favorite beach camping. I will go back to the beach but no more camping :(

Walk to the Beach from Campsite

By nmckPA |

We just returned from a long weekend at the campground at DE Seashore State Park with our 3 young children and a pop-up camper. We chose this campground for proximity to the beach, and we were not disappointed!

The park is newly renovated. Each site has a wooden picnic table next to the camper pad and enough space to play a game like cornhole, or ladder golf or put up a small tent next to the camper pad. There are no trash cans, but there are dumpsters for camping garbage.

The bathhouse is modern and nice looking. It has 4 or 5 toilet stalls, including a handicapped with its own sink and hand dryer. It has 5 or 6 shower stalls, including a handicapped with a small bench and a hose shower head. That one was great for showering young kids after the beach, but the water pressure in the regular stalls was much better. The bathrooms were certainly cleaned daily. The floor throughout the bathroom was quite wet due to the way the showers drain. It was wet throughout, not just in the shower area, but was not slippery. The shower area makes privacy difficult as only your shower stall is behind a curtain. The changing area including an ample bench for your things is in a shared common area in front of the shower stalls. This area is also in direct view of everyone walking in to the bathhouse to use the toilets or sinks. Bring a large towel to wrap yourself in! There are LED emergency lights in the bathrooms, which seem to have been mistaken as cameras by another reviwer. There were washers and dryers available at the bathhouse, as well as a soda bottle vending machine.

There are plenty of things we loved about this place. The playground is new and was great fun for my three kids. The walkways from the beach to the campground are in great shape and are very wide. There are some benches along the inlet to sit and watch the beautiful view. The walk to the ocean from our site was about 5 minutes, and was easy for my young children to make on their own feet. There are feet washing stations along the walkway when leaving the beach. There is ice available to purchase at the entry station. With full sun on our site each day, we had to buy a large bag of ice for $5 to keep our food cold. The convenience of ice on site was great. We also loved the view of the bridge which is lit up at night.

If you're looking for a place to use your camper to stay very close to the beach, I definitely recommend this campground. We will certainly return.

Great Location if you can deal with the wind

By MattnPalmSprings |

Of course you want to be Oceanfront...but be prepared because it can be very windy. We had a great time at the campground and it is very convenient. Everything was clean and well maintained.

Wonderful, fun and relaxing

By Seamus C |

Always a pleasure, to visit US State Parks, And this is no exception, clean, beautiful, and a Beach!!! Just beware, there is a marsh grassy area, at certain times of the summer, attracts "Horse Flies" if you are not familiar with these, they are large, green, and have a mean bite! Ouch! So do visit, just ask the State Park Ranger, when to avoid the flies.

Excellent location

By tawny1956 |

This is an excellenlt location, an easy walk to the beach and inlet. There is virtually no shade, so can be grueling in the heat of summer. However, the location is hard to beat. The bath houses could use a little better care. The view of the bridge overthe inlet. And thewalk over, wasaweos e!

Great Beach....But....

By Dena D |

It is only 5 dollars to park free for military members. There is a snack bar, though they were running out of stuff as the day went on. There are showers, though not enough for the volume of people. There are lifeguards but you are not allowed to swim outside of the flagged area, so you have to swim with mass quantities of people. They do allow wading outside flagged area.
But the beach here is great with clean soft sand and easily accessed waters. There is also a place to eat your lunch at covered picnic tables. Though there is no place to buy towels or other needed items so come prepared.

A decent place to get away from it all.

By tracus2015 |

Although it's not on the beach, but it's just a 500 yard walk to get there. Full service hook-ups for campers and RVs, but be aware that the water pressure is rated at 72psi. Make sure you have a pressure regulator on your hose in inline on your camper/RV. There's no WiFi, but that's not a deal killer for us since are are lots of nearby bistros that have it. Campsites are relatively close to each other and road noise from the bridge over the Indian River may be annoying to some. Staff is very friendly and the campsites are level and clean. Overall we enjoyed our stay and found our neighboring campers to be friendly and polite. Quiet hours were just that - quiet.

North park stay

By Alla L |

We enjoyed our stay at the north part of the park. It is a walking distance to the beach (not guarded on this side)...we went to the beach at the Tower road ( with full amenities). The park organizes bonfires with marshmallows on Tuesday night...very cool..and friendly. Bathrooms are new and clean. However, the shower changing area has no privacy at all...it is so strange. Luckily, most people are staying in RVs and do not use public restrooms. We were not too lucky with the weather...and rough ocean...but I thought in that we will try to stay here again

Seashore Park

By DLP |

Beautiful stretch of beach with amenities. There is no fee this time of year but in season there is one. Grilling and picnic table on grounds. WW Ii observation tower onsite and provide beautiful views. Ample parking. Nice place to spend the day.

Great Park, Scenery, Things to Do and Stay Optinos

By smilingtrips |

What a pleasure to stay at and play at Delaware Seashore State Park. The seashore access is great - many different access points on the bay and the ocean. Just beautiful. The beach is clean and easy to get to once you park. So fun this past week to watch all the surfers, too. Oh - and the bridge is quite stunning especially at night all lit up with blue lights. This is a very pleasant place. Will be back !

Best ten bucks we spent

By Tim S |

looking for places to ride our bikes, off street ocean views, smell of the pines. We find this place $10.00 per car out of state driver We begin our ride 3 mile path through millers pond marshes wild life and the untouched landscape . one stretch of the path was a metal path right over the wet lands very cool !. Also great parking ,camping lookout towers, WW11 military base . What we thought as going to be an hour ride turned out to be a 4 hour stay, we will return.

Love it

I love too come the this park, however the grass is very high especially around the play ground. My wife and I been coming here for close to 50 years and never seen it like this.??

Superb campground and nice beach

By pa_camper_guy |

We stayed two nights at the North Inlet campground. As a note, if you are staying at the North Inlet campground, do NOT follow the signs on DE-1 for campground. Instead follow signs for the park office and marina. The campground signs take you to the South Inlet campground.

The check-in process was very easy. We already had a reservation and were quickly given our pass and map and given directions to our site. The sites on the North Inlet are back-in only but are angled and even I was able to easily back in the camper trailer. Each site appeared to have full electric (50, 30, and 20), water, and sewer. The sites were paved and level. Each site also included a long picnic table. We easily fit six plus the camp stove on the end. There is NO shade and everything else is sand...but you are at the beach, not a national forest so that is expected.

The campground was fairly quiet and the staff patrolled regularly. The only real noise was the sound of the ocean and wind and the occasional air horn from the Coast Guard station as they prepped a boat to go out. The bathhouses/restrooms were perhaps the nicest I have ever seen at a state park. They were modern and were clean. I mean clean at all times of the day and night. Yes, there was water on the floor at times but they were clean. Not sure how often the staff cleans them but they did a great job. And yes, there is hot water in the sinks and showers. There is also a laundry room with two pay washers and two pay dryers. There is NO dish washing sink which is problematic for those with in small pop-up campers with no sinks and grey water tanks. There is a very nice playground that is surrounded by a fence with latching gates that none of my children could open adjacent to the campground.

The beach was just a short walk from the campground. Note there are no trashcans or bathrooms on this beach. There are porta-johns in the day-use parking lot. I do not know the day-use fee but the beach (all beaches) are included in your camping pass. There were no lifeguards at this beach but I was told the South Inlet beach has lifeguards, bathhouses, and concessions. There are also no trash cans on the beach, it is a pack-on/pack-out park. On our last day, after checking out from the campground, we were able to park with the camper attached at the Ocean Tower Road beach and used our camping pass to get in free. The bathhouses were were dirty from use. The food concession was the expected burgers and fried chicken that is overpriced. There was also an umbrella rental on the beach for $12 for the day and they put it in and get it later for you. Again no trash but there were stands with plastic bags so you had something to put the trash in. Water temps in June were cold. The kids did not want to be in the water for more than a few minutes and the grown-ups only lasted 10-15 minutes at a time.

We will definitely be back again next year for another beach trip, although after conferring with several locals, we will come late July or early August for warm water.

Relax away from the boardwalk

By whitestar7 |

Our family and friends always make it a point to visit Tower Road beach. It is easy to get to. Parking is $4.00 for DE residents. But it's worth it as the beach is wide, surf is good. There are life guards on duty till 5 o'clock pm. There is a concession stand if you need a snack. There are hot showers and dressing area there. Please be sure to take your trash with you so bring a trash bag. This beach is a nice place to play volley ball or frisbee, fly a kite with your child or just relax under your beach umbrella.

Escape the Beach Crowds

Deleware Seashore State Park is great way to escape the large beach crowds. Portable Restrooms and Dog friendly.

Better than Ocean City for sure!!

By MominOC |

loved this beach area so much better than south of here. This is off season but the weather was very nice and not many visitors.

a nice quiet Thanksgiving near the beach

By ATONS o |

We drove our Truck Camper from Baltimore to have some beach walking time. Given the time of year we had few campers and an almost empty campground. Picked a spot with all services and enjoyed some good walking weather and time to catch up on reading. A nice surprise was the access and wide sidewalk across the bridge over the inlet. We will be back spring and fall for more time walking the close and very clean beaches.

Mother daughter trip

By mary w |

My daughter and I had a 2 day trip to Bethany beach and came to this park. It's $ 10 for out of state people. Take cash as they don't accept credit cards. There is a large bathhouse with showers, dressing rooms, and bathrooms. They also have a small place to purchase food.
There is a nice boardwalk to the beach over the dunes.
They provide small plastic bags as there are no trash cans. You pack out what you bring in.
There are lifeguards that are very alert. We saw at least 5 rescues while there. We saw one mother who was not paying attention to her young son. She was way back on the large beach and only looked up when she noticed a lot of commotion. The lifeguards were pulling her 6 year old out of a rip current.
There are umbrellas and chairs for rent or you can bring your own.
I would highly recommend this place.

Nice, family beach

By Pamela M |

We have been to this beach many times and enjoy ourselves each time. A nice family friendly beach. They also have a snack bar and showers. It's worth the $8 out of state and $4 in state fee they charge.

Picture perfect beach day!

By Laframabe |

My husband and I spent the day at the park. Thankfully, we got into the park early. Some cars had to wait in line to get in by 11am.
The bath houses are clean and easy to access. Throw a few small soap/ shampoo is your bag. You can shower off before you leave at the end of the day.
We rented an umbrella for the day for $12. The beach was busy but very enjoyable.
By the time we left, the weekend traffic was gone and we had smooth sailing on our way home to MD.
Places to grab food/ waters in the park.
Will come again!

A great alternative to the downtown beaches

By RotzAndFrotz |

Bethany Beach has become a primary destination for our summertime family beach vacations. While we love the town, the beach itself can become quite crowded during the day, especially the area near the boardwalk. Also, if you are not staying near the beach, parking can become a hassle. This is why during our latest visit we decided to explore the state park to the north of town. We were not disappointed with our decision. We chose the day use area just south of the Indian River Inlet. We arrived late morning and found plenty of parking spots still available. (Even when we left later that afternoon, we noted that there were still several empty parking spots). From there it was a close walk to the beach. While there were plenty of beachgoers, there was still ample room to spread out. It was probably one of the nicest Mid-Atlantic beaches we have visited. Apart from the parking lot and bath house, much of the area has been kept in its natural state -- which further added to its appeal. Another reason we chose this location was its close proximity to a bath house -- for those inevitable trips to the bathroom that our younger children required.

Summer time de-stressor

By Larry F |

The morning was bright and sunny with a cool off shore breeze, amazing for August. This day at the beach with my sister and her family was perfect. The waves were crashing around us as the tide was coming in and the water cool and refreshing. There were others on the beach but not nearly as crowded as it is closer to the towns north and south of the beach at 3Rs. We had everything we needed and the relaxation was clear to see on the smiling faces of my family.

Clean Beaches

By CarmShawn |

Taking our younger children here was a great choice! The crowds were smaller, the waves were smaller, but our smiles weren't small at all! Very clean!

DSSP is awesome!

By Denise P |

My family and I stayed here for four days the end of May into June. We also had some friends join us in a site nearby. We absolutely had a great time. The weather wasn’t the best, but we made the best of it. You really do have the best of both worlds with the inlet and the ocean Side-by-side. It’s not a really big campground, which is what I like about it. Short walk to the inlet or ocean. Seagulls each day and turtles passing by it really is what camping is all about. People were friendly for the most part. There was a lady that apparently said to the man in our group that the voices were carrying at 10 AM..but I guess there’s a Karen everywhere. Lol

We definitely plan on returning

Impressive Shoreline

By Charles S |

The Delaware Seashore State Park is a huge area of nearly 3000 acres along the coast and is just a short drive from where we were staying in Rehoboth and not far from Lewes. It is an impressive shoreline, worth a visit.

Camping by the Shore

By woodywood12 |

We have been here for a week and have enjoyed ourselves. South side park is the older of the two campground. Most of the sites are pull thru. They are fairly close together but easy access in and out. This is a state park so if you want cable, wifi, swimming pool and planned activities this would not be your place. Great beach and fishing are the main activities here. Great views from bridge and nice walkways . We camped in a fifth wheel😀

Still beautiful in the winter months!

By jgmolna |

Still beautiful in the winter months. Walk the length of the fishing pier, watch the ferries go in and out in the distance, explore the trails, smell the fresh, crisp salt air!

One of my favs!

By sdoobie |

This is not a campground that I go to for the amenities. I go there for the beach and to spend time with my family. The beaches are beautiful and the proximity to the campground is the best! I love that I can take my water loving dog with me to the beach. You would be hard pressed to find anyplace at the shore this close to the water without spending a lot more money. I'll be back next year!

Great week

By WandaforLife |

Nice size sites but could use some shade. Affordable and walking distance to the best swimming area in Delaware and a beach with lifeguards that start at 9:00am. Could use some fans in the bathhouses. Electric and Sewer connection but cable would be a nice addition. Could get loud on the weekends but most folks get quiet by 9:00pm. Would stay again.

Lots of shells

By almaelou |

We stayed at Bethany Beach which charges $2.00/hour for parking so the $10 a day fee wasn't that bad. Nice restroom and nice parking lot! I would go again. The beach has good shells.

Simply beautiful

By sweetomnivore |

It is easy to understand why Delaware State Parks are voted number 1 in the nation. They are beautifully maintained and expertly staffed.

Beach is beautiful and clean

By Holly C |

Now that our son has a condo in Lewes, we will be going to Cape Henlopen on a regular basis. It's nice that they have the bathrooms and showers and a place to grab food if you want. The beach is very nice and also clean. Having young grandsons, we also appreciate having lifeguards available. You can't beat a sunny day at the beach at Cape Henlopen State Park and you might get lucky like we did and see dolphins.

Never again!

By terbowers |

Pulled into the south inlet entrance mistakenly pulled into the day use area in a motorhome pulling a trailer and was relentlessly scolded by park attendant and had to back out of a very tight area. Finally found the check in area at the north inlet (also very tight areas for anyone with a motorhome pulling a trailer!). Was told we would be allowed to go in the parking area the wrong way due to our size to unhook our trailer today. What a cluster!! We ended up leaving and driving to Assateague State Park in Berlin MD where we have always gone with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Even without a reservation till the last minute. Plenty of parking for a trailer and big sites that are not on top of your neighbors. Wasted money having to pay another nights stay due to no refunds at the Delaware state park! So in closing save yourself the stress and book Assateague it's only 30 minutes away the ppl are friendly and plenty of room to enjoy yourself!

Camping at the Beach

By lighttravel2015 |

My family has been camping at Delaware Seashore State Park for about 20 years. When we first pulled into the campground, out thought was ok, this is a big lot for campers. We weren't sure what to expect. What we found is that it is one of the best places to stay!

Some of us fish, some like to relax on the beach, and we have kids so we also visit the playground. We've stayed at other campgrounds, but none have a 5-10 minute walk to the beach, a 5 minutes walk to fishing, and an even shorter walk to a playground. The other campgrounds you have to drive to find a place to fish and drive to the beach (and take all that sand in your vehicle with you - oh and pay to park). The bathhouses are clean, and close for convenience. And they have 3 pt hook-ups. For the price, it is a great value. Many other resort campgrounds are $20-$30 more a night.

If you're looking for trees, and wide open sites with acres at each campsite, then this campground isn't for you. If you're looking for convenience for fishing, beach, clean bathhouses, and a good value - then this is great. Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach are 5-10 min down the road if you're looking for shopping, restaurants or anything else.

Nice Overnight Stay

By Beachjuly |

Just bought a Motorhome. Bringing it home from South Carolina, we stopped here for an overnight. Park was very clean. Campers were all lined up, so limited or no privacy. Not many trees so no shade. Sights were paved, a little tight but all are pull throughs and utilities are easily accessible. Didn't use the restrooms or showers as we have our own, but they looked well maintained from the outside. Saw lots of families with children and it seemed they had been there for a few days on vacation. Lots of out of state vehicles, so it seemed to be a vacation destination.

Worth the short drive from downtown

By RBInnkeeper |

Worth the short drive from downtown Rehoboth Beach. The state park provides a quieter and dog friendly environment vs the wall to wall umbrellas on the main beach.

Camping on the north side of Delaware Seashore State Park campground

By Beachcouple3 |

Unless you really like the constant sound of the beep beep beep of multiple backing up heavy equipment vehicles and the extremely loud banging of the closing of hundreds dump truck tail gates (and believe me they are both really loud), all going on all day and starting as early as 6am in the morning. I would highly recommend staying on the south side of the campground if you do intend to stay at this campground. Believe me this was not a relaxing or pleasant camping experience. Also keep in mind that there is absolutely no beach access on the north side because of all of the ongoing construction to repair the beach and inlet. Just be aware of these conditions before you arrive, these are not minor inconveniences.

Great Beach Destinations

By misteri0us |

10 times better than anything New Jersey has to offer! Plenty of parking, reasonable admission price especially Season Passes and Beaches and Restrooms are Clean!

Great Camping Spot

By Penny H |

We camp at the north campground. Right now there is construction going on but I still would not stay anywhere else. Love the location. My husband goes fishing I ride my bicycle and go to the beach and walk my dog. Hope to continue camping here for years to come

Clean Beach

By Ginny P |

Beautiful beach. Very clean. Short walk up to the boardwalk. Nice bathrooms on the boardwalk. If you are driving in for the day, parking can be a challange. Best to get a Parking App and pay that way. You can add time as needed.

Nice Campground

By bheasley |

We stayed at the north shore campground. We had a 43' fifth wheel which was kind of a tight fit. Luckily there was no one in the spots across from us or we might not have been able to get the fifth wheel backed in. The campground itself is very nice but no Wifi or cable so you will have to use your phone or vehicle hot spot for internet. There is a basic campstore located at the south shore but there is no way to get to it walking since it is on the other side of Indian River and there is no walking allowed on the Indian River bridge. The south shore campground is mostly pull through but anything longer than 40' is a tight fit and the roads in the campground are fairly narrow so if you have a big rig, choose your spot wisely since there is very little room to swing your rig in. The campsites are very very close together, much like a KOA campground. There is a bus stop located close to the south shore campground.

Clean

By jerzaygurl4 |

Nice and clean beach. Kid friendly. Very pretty landscape. Good shops and restaurants around. Family enjoyed

Great vacation

By _mpweiss |

We enjoy the campground and have never had a problem. Not commercial like Ocean City or Frontier Town. Love the beach and the programs offered. Short walk to the beach. If we want to shop or eat dinner out only a few miles to Dewey or Bethany.

Man o War Jelly Fish Arrived

By Chet P |

The jelly fish are here. Normally in Florida, they are now at DE beaches. Stings are painful and create allergic reactions. Warmer waters will probably bring more this summer. Suggest thinking about beaches with colder waters like New England.

Good luck

Best beaches in the Mid Atlantic area

By George H |

For a nominal fee of $10.00 for out- of- staters, you have access to some fabulous beaches! Most of the park has lifeguards in season; and the surf fishing in the remote sections can be rewarding. You do not have to put up with the terrible traffic in Rehoboth or Dewey, and you have access to really good eating at the Indian River Marina!

Day camp for big kids

By Gary G |

This kayak trip was offered by Delaware Seashore State Park. Our guides Olivia & Drew were fantastic! We put our kayaks (supplied by the park) in at savages ditch (just north of the Indian river inlet) dragged our kayaks out (low tide haha) to where we could paddle. We paddled out & around big Bacon island & Bush island seeing the nesting areas of various species of gulls, hearings & ospreys (I’m pretty sure that’s correct). Olivia & Drew were extremely knowledgeable & told us all about the area & the wildlife. When we got back to the bus (2.5 miles I think) we went to the showers (which was desperately NEEDED) & changed clothes then we went to Hammerheads for lunch. Then off to the Delaware center for inland bays & saw some of the research, science & tech, of how they’re continually making the watershed better for us & the wildlife and the history of the estuary program. Then to the Coast Guard station. Saw the control room & learned about their mission to keep our waters safe. We got to talk to the guardsmen (very cool) & they answered all kinds of questions. (Still not done!) then we went for a scenic walk across the bridge. We were informed about the history of the bridge & prior bridges, the high tech to keep the bridge safe & sand replenishment system. It was a stellar day.
We were very happy with this day trip.

North Side Campground Booth

By Nanette B |

Location is great. North side campground needs someone in the booth on a schedule. Too many times I walked there to get ice and no-one was there. Thank goodness the tackle shop in the marina has hours and someone is actually there! Then when I drive back then there someone there looking for my pass. Last weekend was the worst. Someone WAS in the booth but only collecting money and wouldn't sell me ice. Back to the bait shop (plus the ice is cheaper back there)

Great Spot

This is a wonderful place to visit on so many levels. There is something for everyone here. There are trails, camp grounds, historic sites and envionmental areas. Visit and see the beautiful forests and of course the water.

Glorious

By Sindee K |

Clean, prisitine beaches. Safe and a happy place to visit. Lots to do there, or relax and dream! We will return.

Great location, great beach, average camping

By Paul E |

We have camped here many times. It is great because it is easy walking distance to the beach, easy access to the inlet for fishing. Fishing here is notoriously bad. I was there for five days and never saw a fish caught. But the beach is great. Sand is clean, and the lifeguards are very good. The bathhouse aren't bad. Be careful if it rains as some camp sites flood.

Average state park

By Peg C |

State Parks differ in each state. My expectations are usually pretty high. This one is okay, average. Lots of no-see-um bugs so bring bug repellent. Decently maintained.

Nice State park

By dennydee348 |

Besides the beach, it has adequate (super) life guards during the day. The bathhouse is newer, roomy and clean. If you want the beach and want to get away from the crowds, pay the entrance fee and check it out! I've seen surf fishing early mornings but haven't done that!

terrific state park

By k c |

Go for the day and enjoy a day relaxing on the beach, surf fishing, sand castle building, dolphin watching ... all the joys of summer.
And if you are a camper, this is a place that lets you camp with or without hook-up, anything from big RVs to tents, full services like hot and cold running water, showers, laundry facilities. Not too many inexpensive ways to take the kids to the beach, but this is one!

Summer Fun Place

By Craig M |

Love the Delaware Seashore State Park, great place to hang out with friends for the weekend, play games, eat food, fish and just relax without elbow to elbow crowds.

What a dump!

By Audpr |

It's basically a parking lot for your camper. There aren't any trees for shade, or general shelter. It's incredibly hot, and the smell from the marsh areas is horrific. The bathrooms are disgusting! The views are the only acceptable perk of this dump.

Nice State Park beaches

By usaborn_01 |

I prefer the state park beaches being a resident of Delaware. I get the season permit instead of paying every visit. The beaches are well kept, don't seem to have the riff-raff you run across at the public beaches, freer to enjoy the beach. Some, maybe all, state park beaches don't have life guards, so beware. Some have bath houses which is a plus, most have dune crossing mats that make it much nicer.

Fall visit

By J. Roy C |

We stayed on the older South side of this park divided by the Indian River Inlet. A substantial bridge adds architectural interest countered by the pretty constant traffic noise from the bridge. Sites are smallish and in the Summer be sure to bring your own shade (no trees!). A short walk to the beach. Campground bathrooms are clean but not heated. While I admire the efforts to save on fresh water, the timed shower faucets need to be set for at least 1 minute. As it is now you have to keep pressing the faucet every 15 seconds. Oh, come soon if you are coming. This place might be under water soon! See erosion pics from last Nor'easter.

Loved it here!

By Paulnlin |

Camping in the South Side in early May was almost perfect. It was cool and breezy in the evening and wasn't that crowded, so it was quiet at night. We drove to the beach and parked for free since we were camping there. You could walk to the beach since it's close, also. We LOVED this gorgeous beach. There is a snack bar and large bathrooms. Snack bar wasn't opened yet in early May during the week. The inlet is right there, so we sat and watched the sunset. Three negatives: there is NO shade but we used a canopy; spaces are close together but it was early in the season and during the week so not crowded; I got bit up from some small flies at the site and on the beach. With that said, my husband and I loved this campground and would definitely go back. Clean bathrooms, showers were free and powerful, close to Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach. We also walked around Rehoboth, which is very quaint. Also has a small camp store with many items including ice.

Beach life

By Marion E |

This is the place to come with family. We have been loving this area at every stage of our family's growth. As babies fun in the sun with shovels and pails, then on to crabbing and boogie boards. Now surf fishing and looking forward to having in-laws and grand babies here

Great beach location

By kmsmolen |

We were here pre-season, so the campground was not real crowded. We loved our chance selection of s prime (to us) spot, on the edge of the campground, bordering the salt marsh. The sea grass was waving and birds were calling right outside our windows, across the paved road.

Roads have some holes and bumps, but they are paved. Sites are asphalt paving too, with sand and a little grass in between. Our site was level. Full hookup was in good operation.

There are great concrete walkways along the inlet, leading to the bridge and ocean. On the north side, we hiked the Burton Island Nature Trail and saw interesting horseshoe crabs, and a bald eagle.

Nice East Coast beach.

By Michelle L |

Good family fun. This beach is always clean and has lifeguards in season. There are bathrooms with showers that are usually quite clean even when it is crowded in the summer. There is a snack bar, but I can't comment on it because we always bring our own food. It is a pack it in pack it out beach, so there are no trash cans. This is a great family beach and the surf is usually manageable. There is usually a nice long area of shallow water before it drops off.

Clean and nice

By 88bobh |

Enjoyed watching the boats come into and out of the harbor. Ten dollar fee seemed excessive, but toilets were clean and it was well maintained. one hint...when you buy a pass for that park....it is good for ANY park that day. Not something they tell you.

Rehoboth Beach weekend

If you're looking for a great campground, I highly suggest the state park. Bathrooms were clean, walking distance to the beach, fishing pier, and quiet neighbors.

Camping with family

By kujones79 |

My wife and two children (4&6) traveled with another family to the seashore Park from 7/18-7/22. The campsite is basically a big parking lot. You CANNOT Park awning to awning. There were No trees and I found the slip for my travel trailer very small and compact. That was my only complaint. We were close to stores, restaurants, and activities a few short miles away. The beach was a quick 5 min drive underneath the bridge. The beach was packed ! So if you want a good spot you need to arrive early !! We did have some heavy rain on Saturday and our site, like many others, were well under several inches of water. We will come back next year ! One thing I wish they would add or make available is WIFI.

Beautiful beaches and lots of space. Great for families and those looking for a get away from your busy life

Wide open

By Chris B |

Campground was clean and modern but just not what we were expecting from a state park

We have stayed at quite a few other state parks in various areas and we are used to more space and more trees

You are almost under the highway bridge and beside the highway so it can be noisy and wide open

But it's also very close to the beach that you can walk under to go to

It was nice to see but I would not return again

Beautiful State Park

I stop by here regularly on my bicycle rides along the coast. The park straddles both banks of the Indian River. There's plenty of parking and camping is allowed on the North shore of the park. I don't know the price for camping, but the day use fee is $5 in-state & $10 out-of state. The South shore has a great restaurant/bar and the North shore has a marina & bar. The state park also plenty of restroom and showers.

When riding on your bicycle, you can access the state park without paying and use the facilities. If you're camping at the park, Dewey Beach is approximately 5-miles north and Bethany Beach is approximately 5-miles south. To get between the North and South shores, you'll have to cross the bride that goes across the Indian River. There are both/separate bicycle and pedestrians lanes on both sides of the bridge.

There are also beautiful sandy beaches along eastern shoreline of the park on both the North and South Shores.

Nice but...

Convenient campground on the Delaware shore. Easy to walk to the beach, which was incredibly crowded. Regulations were not enforced: while the regulations do not permit licensed motorized conveyances, plenty of children and adults were using unlicensed motorized bikes, scooters, mopeds, rarely using any helmets, and not traveling at safe speeds; the one-way arrows for traffic flow on the interior streets were not followed; overt smoking was observed by campers; the quiet time wasn't, and check-ins were allowed well before 1 pm, the stated time. The check-in booth was manned intermittently, so there was often no personnel for service or assistance. Many of the campers are regulars who use the park on an annual basis resulting in an attitude of entitlement and the resulting disregard of rules because "we're regulars." Loved the location but not wild about the atmosphere.

Convenient camping

By PatMaine50 |

We camped in the North inlet campground which is newer than it's neighbor across the inlet. If you're looking for scenic spots in a tree filled park, well you won't find it here. Not much in the way of ambience. Basically, you are in an open parking lot next to a busy highway in the shadow of a huge bridge. However, you are within easy walking distance of a beautiful beach. People were fishing in the inlet just steps from the campground. Also, a short walk away is a marina with a restaurant if you don't feel like cooking. The bathrooms were new although the design of the showers leaves much to be desired. From the entrance to the bathroom you can see directly into the shower area. Shower stalls were at least six feet away from the benches on the opposite wall. You would have to disrobe and walk naked across the room in full view of everyone to get into a tiny shower stall. One small hook for a towel was outside each stall and inside the stall there was nowhere to put shampoo, etc. Very poor design, especially since they had lots of space to work with.

Best beach in Delaware!

By Brian7758 |

Best beach in Delaware. Smooth sand and a beach that doesn't slope downward. Plenty of parking even in the dead of summer. Nice bathhouse.

Delaware seashore state park awesome

By Jim Deere |

We tried one of the cottages. We had our family plus our grandson. The state run cottages were clean, well supplied and close to everything. The upstairs loft had a steep aluminum staircase so our young adults jumped at staying upstairs. We had a perfect screened in porch which was awesome for late night relaxing. We cleaned before leaving as asked. You need to call and get an anti driveway blocking post removed so you can drive right up to unload which is kinda a problem but we really enjoyed the time we stayed there.

Stunning

By Kraig M |

Beautiful beach, sparsely visited compared to the main drag. Clean stretches of sand and rolling waves in which to frolic. Worth the short drive and admission cost.

Great resources

By Ada T |

The park is cheap to enter and has many areas to use that are designated for swimming, surf fishing, etc. The beach areas are usually clean and most are not crowded. The swimming beach provides a shower and bathrooms. Great summer activities.

Best Beach

By Kuvasz1988 |

I loved these beaches. Must less crowded than Rehobeth. More sand, great water and very relaxing atmosphere.

Overall the best beach for all things.

By don_tepper |

This park is the finest in Delaware. Delaware Seashore Park has all the things you need. Having a Place in Dewey Beach makes this place the best option. Surf fishing on the beach with my truck, swimming, Big Chill Grill at the inlet, camping, Head boats for off shore fishing Judith V, kayaking, wind surfing on the bay, trails to hike, biking and running are just a few of the things you can do here. Spend every chance I get to be there to relax and enjoy many activities.

First camping trip and will be back!

By ajbarb |

This was our first "real" camping trip with our travel trailer. We loved it here and will be back.

If you can get a spot on the north side, do it. Sites are spacious, grounds the perfect size for our twin 8 yr olds to explore without us worrying, beach an easy bike ride or 10 minute walk away, brand new bathhouses, we couldn't ask for much more.

We loved riding our bikes to Hammerheads at the marina for breakfast with the family or an afternoon beer for the adults (although the live music at happy hour was very family friendly!).

Very quiet at night, no golf carts racing around and very dog friendly, even on beaches. I was pleased I never saw even one "land mine". :)

We have lots of family and friends nearby, this will be a great, affordable spot for us to go to in the future.

Worth the parking fee

By Rob B |

$10 per car to park seemed worth it to not have to fight for parking and feed the meter. It has facilities as well.

Loved It!

By romadaro |

We ended up stopping here on our way from Ocean City to Rehobeth and absolutely loved the setting next to the bridge. We were planning to go to Bethany or Dewey beach, just to try something different from Ocean City, but this small, much quieter, beach venue caught our attention and we love it! Reminded me a lot of the shore line in San Francisco near the Golden Gate Bridge, which I've visited a few times.

Enjoy the beach AND be able to rinse off at days end

By awaldron4444 |

We spent the weekend in Dewey and hated to check out of our hotel early in the day when the weather was so beautiful. My google search led me here-we were able to spend another day on the beach and shower and change before we made the trip home. We did not eat in the restaurant but it looked and smelled delicious There is nice area in the shade for those who want to get away from the sun and the ocean for a bit Bathrooms were clean. I thought 10 bucks per car to get in was quite a bargain. It does get quite crowded, but we were able to find a spot on the sand and swim with no issues.

Nice clean beach.

By Kbaker3690 |

Beautiful clean beach. Not too crowded -room to move on the beach and on the boardwalk.
Parking is the only slight issue if you don't have a hotel on Rehoboth Ave. Get there early and bring
quarters if you want a spot. 3 hour max / $2 per hour. Have to add more quarters right at 3 hour mark
in order not to loose your time. After 5pm, free side street parking. Tons of restaurants & shops on side streets and boardwalk. Did not find a good breakfast selection though.. Great place for kids to play at the arcades, etc.
For a change we drove to Dewey Beach. Very similar to Cape Cod.

Great for biking, history

By mastertonlaw |

In the cool of the morning, bike from Rehoboth Beach along Shore Drive (it might be Ocean Drive? Sorry) to this State Park, you can enter with your bike or on foot at no cost. There are WWII bunkers to explore & realize that our nation has long beenat peril, not just in these modern days of terrorism. A nice bike ride & history lesson.

Monumental Improvements in Three Years!

By Michele M |

I have been camping at Delaware Seashore State Park Indian River Inlet South Campground since I was a little kid (40+ years now). The last time my family and I camped here was three years ago during the tail end of all the construction. We returned at the end of September, 2016 to find a wonderfully transformed campground without any construction!

One of the things I have always loved about this campground is the close proximity to the ocean and easy access to the beach. One of their many improvements is a nicely paved side walk path that takes you right from the campground to the beach in 500 feet! There are sidewalks everywhere around the campground that make it so much easier to ride bikes, push strollers and wheelchairs. There is a ton of new landscaping and fences that help to separate the tenting areas from roads and sidewalks. Everything is aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as functional for the campers! I love the new playground for the children and the pole fence dividing the walkway from the fisherman between the inlet and the ocean.
The addition of 2 new bath houses in the expanded camping area are clean, functional and close for everyone on that side of the campground. Did I mention nice HOT showers??!! What an awesome treat to be able to take a hot steamy shower to rinse all the salt and sand away!
The campground store is small but still managed to be stocked with the essentials that any camper may need. The lady who was working the store was very pleasant and greeted all the campers who walked through the door and helped in various ways to find merchandise and answer questions. I love the hot coffee brewing station in the camp store!
The beaches were clean and we enjoyed late night walks over there looking for ghost crabs! During the day(at the beach) the bathrooms and showers were open but the concession stand and store were closed because the season is over. It wasn't a huge deal, one day we packed a cooler and the other day we just walked back to the camper for lunch. The ocean was incredibly warm and the beaches were not crowded. The kids enjoyed swimming in the ocean and it was fun to watch the surfers out there!

I was surprised to see an entirely NEW campground called "North" Indian River Campground on the other side of the bridge where the Marina and cottages are located. WOW! It looked beautiful over there as well!

You can tell they have really spent a great deal of money to make such great improvements to this campground. It is evident that it is a popular campground as most every spot was filled during the weekend we were there. I still remember the days of "the lottery" on the over flow parking lot trying to get into this campground. Its amazing that 40+ years later it is still just as popular.

I'm not sure there are any "real" negatives about this campground. One small detail might be the lack of fire pits at each campsite. That is to be expected with winds coming off the ocean and inlet as potential fire hazards. There are two really nice community fire pits to use that have protective screens over top of them to keep the fire contained during windy conditions. The only other notable concern was a large amount of freestanding water near the children's playground. I'm not sure if that was due to heavy rains or construction design of a small run off pond?

I think the reservation specialists do a great job of letting everyone know that this is a campground with no trees, no fire rings and lots of sand. You are practically camping on the beach so there are some small sacrifices but well worth the experience of being near the ocean!

My family and I will most definitely return next year!

Long Weekend

By Jim S |

We just stayed at the North section of the campground and it was AWESOME! Everything was new and clean and it was a 5 min. walk from the beach. Also the beach is clean and not crowded. As soon as we got home we went online and booked another long weekend in August. We will make this one of our regular summer spots.

Wonderful State Park for beach camping

By margeemhay |

I would recommend you stay at this state park if you would like to be close to the beach. The camping spots are narrow but an easy walk to the beach.

Beach

By Pattyzubi |

We stayed for a week and we enjoyed a lot ... We spent most part of the days at the beach practically we use our camper as a hotel room. (Sleep)
The place is clean, the bathhouse is new with hot water (I like hot water even in summer)
My girls enjoyed the playground
The distance to the beach is very convenient you can walk...
I really like this place... We are going again in August.

RV'ing and camping at this state park is great!

By Barb H |

I laughed when I read a someone's not-as-great review complaining there were no trees here! Come on!!! It's a State Park next to the beach!!!! For this kind of ultra-prime real estate, I was very pleased by the park. It is a bare-bones state park. The older south side has pull-through spaces; the new north side is mostly back-in. The sites are narrower than luxury RV campgrounds, but for the location, I was more than comfortable. It's an easy walk or bike ride under the bridge from your campsite to the ocean. Fishermen seem to love the inlet area, too. The view of the bridge at night is spectacular. Rates are reasonable and upkeep is nice for a park on a state park budget. Highly recommend this, especially as an alternative to beach living up the street in Dewey/Rehoboth rentals and hotels!

Fun, Sun and Facilities

By Dorrie A |

The Parks, located at several points along Route 1, are a fabulous place to relax for the day. Unlike the Bethany town beach, which seems to get smaller each year after the annual Nor'easter, these beaches are broad and deep with ample room, even at the height of the season. Delaware residents can buy an annual pass for $35 or pay $5 daily, while out-of-staters pay $8 per day -- much less than you'd pay to feed the meters in town. You can rent chairs and umbrellas or bring your own. The pavilion has a concession offering fried foods and junky snacks, sodas and smoothies, picnic tables, bathrooms, showers and changing rooms. Lifeguards are on duty till 5:30, but you can stay until the park closes at dusk. IMHO the parks beat the town beach any day! Warning: It can get super crowded on summer weekends, so best to go early or after 2 when people are leaving. You might see orange cones blocking entry from the bay side of Rte 1, but don't be deterred; make a U-turn and enter from the ocean side. You can access the park in Fenwick Island, Indian River, Tower Road and the 3 R's, all marked with brown and white signs. Delaware may be small, but the public beaches are epic!

Just Terrific Swath of Beach

By PlatinumHoney |

From fishing to swimming to sunning and just chilling, this state park offers it all...good parking, access and lots of room to spread out and enjoy the Delaware beach vibe...low key and high fun.

Relaxing weekend

By S M |

My family traveled to the Delaware Seashore State Park the weekend of July 8th, 2016. The campground is kept very clean. We really enjoyed the short walk to the beach. We had never visited Delaware beaches before this visit. The ocean directly across from where we were staying was unguarded, not very crowded, and allowed dogs on the beach.
We also visited the Rehoboth Boardwalk while we were in town. It was a very nice boardwalk with an eclectic mix of stores. I only wish that the shuttle that transports you from this area up to Rehoboth had a stop on our side of the bridge. Instead of trying to walk across the bridge to the pick-up area we chose to take a taxi.

If this is the only place you can get.....good luck

By Jan K |

I am writing this review as a tent camper. Probably having an RV is probably a different experience. If you like the beach and want to camp on the beach, then this place is convenient to be sure. Be aware that the bathrooms are disgusting and if they were cleaned in the six days we were there, they weren't cleaned well. I basically felt like I was going to catch something every time I used the bathroom. And why there are no trashcans in the bathroom or sinks for washing dishes is beyond my comprehension. The bathroom looked like a bomb went off it it, with soiled sanitary napkins, diapers and tampons strewn on the floor along with wet toilet paper and garbage strewn on the floor. Because there are no sinks for washing dishes and pots and pans you get the joy of dirty sinks as well. It was stomach churning and if I could have avoided the bathroom completely, I would have.

The campsites are pretty much on top of each other and if someone is snoring in the tent next to you, good luck trying to sleep. People also don't self monitor the quiet times and there is literally NO SECURITY. After the check in is closed, good luck finding someone to help you. There is no code to get into the camp. This place is like an upgraded refugee camp. The pro is it's close to the beach but that's about it.

nice day away from reality

By Michele0504 |

It was so nice to get away for the weekend with my hubby. These beaches are pristine! We both have grown up with sand in our toes and it is so nice when a great community takes care of their beaches.

Fun in the sun

By Stephanie E |

My family and I enjoyed a nice day at the beach playing in the sand. Only downfall was the hirseflys that eventually got to much to handle. Other than that it was an awesome time!

We were pleasantly surprised

By Rwbradley |

We booked one night as a stop over and based on the pictures we did not expect much. We figured it would just be a boring flat field. We were surprised when it was quite a bit more. A number of our neighbors were really friendly, the beach was excellent, the view of the bridge and the sunsets were outstanding. Lots of work was done to the park recently so it was in very good shape. We had fun while we were there.

Love it

Beautiful park, well maintained by the state. Clean, nice amenities, good parking, something for everyone.

Great campground with great views. The bridge is a pretty blue at night and the beach is pleasant all day.

Wonderful campground

By PAMtngrl |

We spent a week in this wonderful spot. One of the jewels of the Delaware state parks. Our campsite had a view over the marshlands which included a nesting osprey, had a frog in our grill and a turtle crawl thru our site. Walking distance to the Atlantic ocean and a restaurant with a magnificent views. Campground is on the Indian River so fishing and crabbing is right there.

Don't camp here

By cstanto3 |

Don't tent camp here. There is no privacy, no campfire rings on the tent sites, highway noise all night, smells like the latrines in the campsite. If you don't care about any of that and just want somewhere to drink near the beach, then this is the spot for you.

Campground

By stevewinger |

Stayed at the North inlet side Nice sized campsite.3 point hook ups were good.Beautiful beach on the south inlet side.Ive been going to that beach for 40 years.Water pressure was weird a few days.Tonisha who worked in the campground office was very freindly, and accommodating. The volunteer campground hosts, were cranky and bitchy as always.Banging on your RV door at 1100,and setting in there golf cart at 1200 until you vacate the site. They should save up more money before they retire,so they don't have get a free campsite to have a place to stay.Overall a nice place to camp that's close to the beach.Trap Pond is by far the best campground in Delaware, but it's a 40 minute drive.I split my vacation between both campgrounds

The Big Chill restaurant, great place, good food, great staff, great location
Easy get there and leave, clean area,
Nice place for families

Bridge view is beautiful but...

By 4adventures |

This park has a great location and proximity to the beach and fishing. Campground's are not secured and there are two: North and South, just across the inlet from each other. Facilities are usable - not great with No fans or A/C, just open doors. Coast guard station is located just off and adjacent to the North campground. There is a marina with boat launch, a small seafood market and tackle store behind the North campground. The seafood is fresh caught form local fisherman, and they also make fresh crab cakes to go. FYI, rain = flooding in the campground be prepared. Only one washer available in the North campground during our visit and the ladies' showers had no hot water. Both Host's and multiple staff were notified and never fixed during our multi-day visit.

Dissappointing

By noreen s |

Good points, you can walk to the beach, take your pole and fish, bike around the camp and to the marina which also has a place to fish, dockside restaurant and store for fresh fish etc. The south side does have public transportation. Sites of course are level, average in size. There is a laundry. No internet, cable or fire pit. The bathhouse is newer and clean but warm water at best and low water pressure. The shower area could use a curtain to separate the area since you must walk out in your glory to get your towel etc. No hook in your shower. Also, this campground posts your site on the left side of your site. We pulled up, saw our name and backed in but should have passed the post to the next site. Even though the sites were the same in size, we were told to move next door after we were set. Did I mention we have a popup?

Beautiful Beach

By trobinson769 |

This is a hands down beautiful beach. I love going there at sunrise, mid day and sunset!!! I have never had any problems when choosing to visit Rehoboth Beach and it's attractions

Perfect beach

By Debbie R. S |

This beautiful beach is not as busy at the other beaches in this area. Has a board walk to the beach. Johnny blues bathrooms but this is better than nothing. The area is peaceful and quiet! We seen a lot of ponies on the beach.

September Beach Day

By 5catherine389 |

The beach was uncrowded, the water still warm, and the shower houses still open on September 29. We had a wonderful day!

Another highlight of the Delaware state parks

By Mark T |

Multiple beaches to pick from on both the ocean and bay side of the park. This is an amazing park system!

So close to the beach!

By Jessica N |

This was our second year staying here and a total of 19 days in 2 visits. It's the most reasonable way to stay for a family of three. The park is clean, family friendly (including out black lab), monitored by park rangers, and close walk to the beach. There is a playground are that was just renovated. The roads could use some repaving. They're very bumpy for biking on. It's a great location due to proximity to Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, and O.C., MD. We're already booked for at least one trip for next year.

Relaxing and easy

By David |

The campground is large with all types of camping. Carry in, carry out your garbage. Dumpsters are provided. The bathrooms are sandy (duh!) but mostly clean. The camp hosts were helpful and accessible. The wildlife is plentiful and the beach is less than a ten minute walk. The RV and camper sites are very (very!) close together but it was very quiet after hours. I enjoyed staying here..

Beautiful area!

By Kim W |

This was our first visit (South Side) and I am so glad we took a chance! I'm a glamper...not really a hardcore camper. We have a 30' Class C motor home and enjoy the amenities many campgrounds have like pools, swim up bars, etc., so this was "roughing it" for me. Although the actually camping area is more like a parking lot, it was level, clean, easy to hook up and everyone was kind and considerate of their close neighbors. The location and price can't be beat...you are surrounded by water! A five minute walk has you on the beach and ocean, which is clean and lovely. The Big Chill restaurant is right there on the beach and has spectacular views and surprising great food! The other end of the campground gives you beautiful sunsets. Take a walk/bike/ride over the bridge to the North Side (Beautiful views!) and you have the marina, Hammerheads Dockside restaurant, and Burton's Island. We took an Uber into downtown Rehoboth and that was easy enough (sadly, they stop the DART bus mid-month). We were never bored but found time for some relaxing. We are looking forward to our next visit, planning to stay on the North Side. It was a really great trip!

Love it here!

By Mimi010310 |

Have visited Delaware Seashore State Park numerous times. Our last trip was pretty much off-season, but enjoyable none-the-less. Weather was a bit chilly and rainy, but I walked the beach every morning and enjoyed the beauty pretty much to myself. Found a bit of sea glass, watched the birds, and sat and gazed at the ocean. So peaceful. We did have a pretty bad storm which washed away part of the walkway and flooded several areas of the campground we were at. Many improvements had been made to the campground, including a small store and a play area for the kiddos. Wish a few more trees would be planted at the campground, but we'll be back!

Nice beach for playing

By Gabriel Y |

We went there post 'season'. Sadly no longer were there umbrellas for rent. The beach was beautiful with nice waves. The showers were nice and warm though and I would go there again in a heartbeat.
