Walking around the garden your smile never leaves your face.
I hope they take local schoolchildren here.

By knitter88 |

Nice atmosphere, lots of shade so it was comfortable all day as we wandered around and through the garden. I still love the sculptures and I still love the stories.

By fishclown |

Very cute little area! The sculptures are a lot of fun and there is some nice green space to relax or let the kids run around. You can make it a super short visit if you just want a quick photo op. We lucked out and found some free parking right on the street in the middle of the week.

By Shauna R |

Loved our visit to this area. We were pleasantly surprised at how cool it was. Great place for Dr Seuss fans or anyone who has ever read one of his books.

By Doug G |

A fun place to see Dr. Seuss characters in a bigger than life size.
It brought back memory and stories that we read to our children when they were a baby.

By HayleyNZ87 |

Cute stop but the cafe in the area was awful. The place could definitely do with some sprucing up for their visitors.

By LuvtoSafari |

There are a handful of Seuss sculptures in the central garden in the middle of the Springfield Museums courtyard. It’s free to see them and fun to walk amongst them. Lovely to stop here, particularly if going to the museums.

By Lucky_Eddie |

Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) had almost no significant connection with Springfield, but it doesn't matter - whoever puts up the most sculptures wins. There is one large one here with a sign saying not to go onto it, which is totally ignored and unenforced. It's very well done and the kids have a great time. One of him at his easel is the same as the one at the library named for him at the university in San Diego. There are a couple of other small ones, but that's it. Still, a nice environment. Apparently an adjoining building is being renovated into a Dr. Seuss museum.

By 250crystalp |

Located outside of the new Dr. Seuss museum, it's a sculpture garden of iconic Seuss characters. Signs everywhere ask patrons to not climb on the sculptures but kids were all over the art pieces. It was a really cool exhibit sculpted by Seuss' step daughter...a fact you'll discover inside the museum!

By FredBLongmeadow |

This Springfield Museum is a great location to spend a Saturday with the family. This Museum complex is a nice as any museum in NY or Boston.

By sheilal921 |

Every time I approach this park, I smile. I adore these massive sculptures, lovingly displayed by Dr Seuss' hometown. Take a photo with Horton, Thing 1&2, or the Lorax. Or just sit among the beautiful sculptures and remember your youth. I can't wait for the Seuss Museum to open in 2017.

By Ashley H |

My kids loved seeing sculptures of their favorite Dr Seuss characters and posing for pictures with them! We are huge fans of all things Dr. Seuss so this was a real treat.

By Cathie S |

The memorial is a great tribute to Dr. Seuss. The sculptures are beartifully done
to the last detail. Great addition to the museum area.

By Maria Luisa C |

I visited this place with my friends. It's nice although I recommend it more for families with small kids. It's very well kept, it has all the nicest characters from the books and it's great for cute pictures. There's also sketches and letters from the author (which is a really cool part to see if you're a fan). It also has activities for the little ones (like making handcrafts).

By Lisa C |

I enjoyed walking through the sculpture gardens... there are more than one! It was fun to remember the books as you past each character.

Great for families!

Enjoy!

By SammiDeRosa |

An amazing set of sculptures that are great to walk through and view. If you read any Dr. Seuss as a kid you will greatly appreciate it.

By Edmund P |

Beautiful grounds outside of complex of small museums. You can get a pass to several museums including the Dr. Seuss museum. We only had time to see the sculptures. Nice photos to be had, but mostly roped off.

By Cassandra S |

My family and I really enjoy coming here. We always have a great time. There is always a bunch of different activities for us to do.

By Cindy T |

A delightful outdoor sculpture park, as a tribute to Dr. Seuss and his childhood writings. The visit was dampened by the fact that all of the exhibits were roped off. I am not sure what the intent was but it detracted from our enjoyment.

By meetpetef |

Its a part dedicated to Dr. Seuss. Its creative, unique, and worth a visit for about 30-60 minutes. Worth a stop by but Springfield is not a nice area.

By AceofSpades_12 |

Overall good time. 5 museums in one so you can’t lose. Staff was more than accommodating. The Seuss museum was fun for the family.

By RonL40 |

Visitors pay one fee for five museums + the garden. And even if you aren't a huge Dr. Seuss fan (he was born in Springfield), it's fun to browse the Sculpture Garden after going to your choice of the two art museums, the history museum and the natural science museum. Beautifully co-located on the Quadrangle. Worth the price! It's five museums.

By SingTravels |

The sculpture garden is located outside the Springfield Museums. We stopped to get pictures because I love Dr. Seuss. There are some neat photo ops here. I would like to return when the Dr Seuss Museum opens. According to museum staff, the first exhibits will open this summer, with the entire museum open sometime in 2017.

By gatorsos |

This was a short walk from our Marriott hotel about 10 minutes we felt safe Even though it was downtown.. it's in a museum district I guess you'd say it was after 5 PM so the indoor buildings were closed this is the outdoor sculpture area.the Pretty neat how they have oversized characters if you're a Doctor Seuss fan you have to do this! We probably spend about 15 minutes there total looking around.

By Jennifer P |

No dogs allowed. Also, the sculptures are inviting & appear to want the viewer to interact with them, but a sign clearly states not to climb on them. Great photo opportunities.

By Tzippy1 |

This is a delightful place to spend time with your family. Dr. Suess' characters spring to life. Make sure you read some of his books to your children before you go.

By ANNE R |

What a charming park, children are free to run, laugh and generally be -KIDS!!! I love the wonderful sculptures and the woven "house' or arbor whic allows playful hide and seek-it is a step back for all of us who love the good Dr-SEUSS!!

By Michaela F |

The sculptures were as if Dr. Seuss himself made them. Artwork was really spot on, they were roped off because of the heat, which another person commented, so the kids got bored quickly over there, but they were very hot as we noticed going up to Yertle the Turtle.

By Frank T |

What an amazing place. The museum was colorful and had a lot of interactive exhibits for children and a lot of information for adults. It is easy to find but the parking is not the greatest they do have a free lot but get there early or you will be on street. It is connected to four other museums and the admission covers all five of them. Once you walk through the door you feel like you are inside a Dr. Suess storybook. The sculpture garden is amazing and the smile it puts on everyone's face is a great testament to the imagination of Dr. Suess. It is worth the trip! We will go back!

By biaworkaholic522 |

The grounds and outdoor sculptures where very nice but due to the heat they were cordoned off.Unfortunately it was cost prohibative for me to take my 2 grandkids inside😢

By Viktoryia G |

Great, fun, educational and inspirational... a bit small... since we were coming from nyc we combined it with boston trip with it and it worked out great.. kids loved it and had a blast... highly recommend

By Kris B |

Awesome place for the kids. Tons of interactive things for them to do inside Super fun for entire family. Outside is a big area of Dr. Seuss statues where you can take a ton of photos.

By Stephanie L |

I just happened to see that this sculpture garden was in Springfield and since we were at the Basketball Hall of Fame we decided to take the 5 minute detour to see the sculptures. They are in a large area and very unique. if you love Dr. Seuss then you will love this nice little park with 4 main metal sculptures including the Cat in the Hat, Sam I Am Thing 1 and Thing 2, Horton, the Grinch and a few more. Unfortunately we were visiting on a Monday and the Museum is closed Mondays - I'll definitely plan to swing back by when I'm in Springfield again and visit the museum.

By Unknown-Diner30 |

This is one of my favorite places to take out of town visitors since it is a free attraction. My favorite part is to sit in a sculpted chair in front of the book, "Oh, the places you'll see", written in its entirety. I also encourage my guests to have their picture taken with the Theodore Geissel (Dr. Seuss) statue and desk. A nice overlook to the Walter Vincent Smith Museum, who was a character in some of Dr Seuss's books.

By Bernard W |

The sculptures here are fabulous and life-like. The lorax, Thing One, Thng Two, Seuss, and so many more. Don't miss the Yertle the Turtle dculpture on the side of the Museum of Fine Arts surrounded by beautiful flowers.

By CliffHugger |

Is anyone not a Dr. Seuss fan? Oh you poor Grinch there in the corner, I'm sorry your parents did not provide you with Dr. Seuss books in your formative years. But even you can enjoy this place. This sculpture garden is probably more fun if you go with children. If you don't have any of your own, borrow a child and visit the fun garden. While you are there, take in the Springfield Museums.

By UK_Baseball_Fans |

We arrived just shortly before the park and museums closed for the days, so entry was free for us (not sure if you would normally pay for the park area or not). The sculptures are wonderful and it is definitely worth a visit.

By mikeleslee |

I would have been disappointed had we gone just for the sculpture garden, however, it is a nice add on when visiting the museums!

By Kristina D |

This is a great place to visit. The Dr. Seuss museum and statues are great. Nice relaxing place outside that if you do not want to go in the museum is free. There are actually five different museums so worth the money! Great place to spend the day exploring.

By Hobby |

We are only slightly aware of Dr Seuss but found these sculptures very clever and interesting and really enjoyed our time here. My only negative was that there is a sign saying "do not climb" but in truth if I was a child I would want to climb all over it!!

By silvermanarts |

My husband and I visited Springfield, Massachusetts and decided to check out The DR.SEUSS MUSEUM to see if our grandchildren would like it. I highly recommend this Museum. Young children will LOVE this place! Adorable photo ops and interesting exhibits that adults will enjoy. Many digital interactive exhibits that kids will have a great time playing.

By Linda C |

Dr. Seuss... who doesn't know and love his books? We've all read them and love his famous books - The Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Horton Hears a Whoo... the list goes on an on. This museum is wonderful. Great outdoor sculptures for all to see and ply on, take great photos, etc. Wonderful museum to visit.

By Jerome M |

The sculpture garden brings the Dr. Suess characters to life because they are life size. My wife really enjoyed being among the sculpture because it took her back to a time when our children were small. This is a nice little park where the kids can run free for a few minutes.

By Dave Robison |

Bring your kids or have your kids bring you. Brilliant memorial to Theodor Geisel aka Dr Seuss who was born and raised in Springfield. Nearly every Seuss character is represented here.

By Tom B |

While traveling from Augusta to Hartford, we stopped in Springfield for lunch. The memorial garden had such high ratings, we headed to that area. It was a bit difficult to find, but nice to see. The area was closed off that day due to high temperatuires, so we could not get up close. We still enjoyed it.

By CDavis61 |

Family fun for everyone. See all exhibits from historical to modern day art. Need additional ticket purchase for special exhibits.

By mal016 |

The park has many large statues of the Dr. Seuss family for you to take pictures with and sight - view. There are not many statues and it is a small display, but it is a fun experience, and would be a great outside event to have with kids while visiting the museums.

By jillypuff |

You'll definitely want to take photos near these amazing statues! This is a must see when in Springfield!

By LexiV |

We did only a brief stop here in the middle of a road trip so we didn't have time to go into the Dr. Seuss Museum, but even though my kids are teens now they had a great time posing for photos with their favorite characters. We absolutely loved this sculpture garden.

By Jarrod B |

What a delightful treat this place is. All the joy of reading the books as a kid and then to my kids as a parent, instantly flowed back into me. It not only filled us with joy, I also found it very interesting learning about Dr. Seuss the man, the legend.

What we didn't realise before visiting is that the Dr. Seuss Museum is a port of a complex of attractions. The Springfield Museums include the Science Museum, The Springfield Firsts Museum, The Springfield Art Museum, and The Dr. Seuss Museum and Sculpture Garden. You get to see all of these for the one admission.

The Art Museum was a rellly nice surprise. There are some very very nice pieces, and I found myself spending way more time there than I ever thought I would.

Anyway, just go! It's great value for 4 attractions, and the Dr. Seuss Museum will make you happy.

By angela b |

they have hands on stuff for the kids and small animals/reptiles they teach kids about also have art and history for everyone to enjoy.

By JennRamirez |

Adorable little park outside of the museums. Too cold to really enjoy, but very cute with great statues.

By Maxy2011 |

So much to see. Will need multiple trips. This garden was actually deigned by a Chicopee local. Makes it so much better. Not just for kids, adults will really like this also.

By TreyForVols |

This is a really neat place great for families and children that is free. It’s not very big but worth a trip especially if you are doing to the museums.

By albert c |

Had some time before flight and decided to visit museums in Springfield. Great choice. the outdoor sculptures were excellent

By Sonny_circumvehor |

Free... but gated.. closes at various times, so check...8pm summer hours..

About 15 hi quality statues, plenty of photo ops, and memories... the area is a bit shady, and bums were hanging out

By mersee |

Dr. Seuss was always my favorite ... this is a nice garden to see while visiting the Springfield Museums.

By Kristina B |

Took my daughter to the sculpture garden while visiting Springfield College. Cute little place nestled in with other the museums. My daughter loved seeing all the sculptures and relating to the books she has read! It was smaller than I expected. Definitely a cute place to stop and it's free!!!

By RLP987 |

I thought it would be fun for my 12 and 9 year old boys to see the sculpture garden so we took a walk to it from our hotel. It was kept beautiful but I was disappointed the sculptures were roped off. My one son is visually impaired and I would have liked it if he could see the sculptures up close.

By Tammie C |

Although the Dr. Seuss museum isn't open yet, the sculpture garden is worth a quick visit. The gift shop has a nice selection of Dr. Seuss books and t-shirts.

By Laurie L |

Affordable weekend activity for young kids. Free for Springfield residents. They have tons of fun and they're learning at the same time win win!

By Ladytech147 |

We got there first early morning before hit on the road trip.. It was beautiful day! Amazing to see Dr Seuss sculptures garden and it remind me my childhood books that I had! Fun place to look around outside.. We did not go inside the museum! The garden is FREE!
Amazing place to see close up the sculpture! Go early morning where it's not too hot to touch sculptures!
There was temporary ropes put up to prevent people from getting close during hot summer and hot sculptures..
It's really good for anyone to go see it! I love it even I'm older adult! LOL

By Tammy W |

The Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden took me and my teenage kids back to the days when we read these books together

By TifFit |

So happy we made it to visit this sculpture Dr Seuss is one of our favorites and it’s a must in Springfield. Sadly we were to late for the museums.

By ferogz |

It was raining the day we were here and they had it all roped off so no one could go on it and get hurt. I would recommend you go a nice day as if it is raining or too hot (the sculptures get hot) they rope it off.

By RobBoston80 |

It was very cute. Well worth the 5 minuet stop to take a look.
We were in town for a conference and walked past it. There is not much to do in Springfield. So this was a nice treat.

By E1447ILkellyp |

Very fun to walk through our favorite characters. I love that the sculptures are done by his daughter.

By Nicole201414 |

Really enjoyed the memorial sculpture garden - the garden itself doesn't take long to tour but if your a Dr. Seuss fan and in the area worth the stop. Only disappointing thing I found was the gift shop didn't have alot of Dr. Seuss merchandise to purchase. Thought for the gift store is to maybe purchase a stamp or bags that reflect that you have been at the garden/museum. Would recommend a visit

By EKC_LA_CA |

Very fun. Great for photos. Quick and easy stop. Lots of museums at this location. Glad we stopped. Loved the free parking (we parked in the lot across the street). No admission charge.

By Judith Evanko |

Outside the museum quadrangle, you can see wonderful bronze characters found in the Dr Seuss books. They are so real that you have to touch them. The sculpture of Dr Seuss himself is superb.

By johnsZ9339HP |

Yes, bring the children, and a camera to enjoy the Dr. Seuss Memorial Sculptures. The indoor museum offers much more of Dr. Seuss' memorabila...children will love!

By Linda T |

These wonderful depictions make the sculptures seem as if they are almost alive and are enhanced by visiting the nearby Dr, Seuss Musem.

By Nancy S |

Since I grew up reading Dr. SEUSS as a child in the 60's, what a marvelous full circle adventure for 2 grown ups. You are literally standing in the pages of his beloved books as you explore the interactive downstairs level of the museum. Great place for young and old. Upstairs was the amazing history of the creative genius from reading the pages of his baby book, a glimpse of his studio and preserved archives, to his family tree...we were there most of the afternoon! The lifesize sculptures commissioned and wonderfully done by his step-daughter are awaiting you in the garden coutyard outside the museum. You can get an all-inclusive ticket to see 5 museums in the same block, but we did not manage out time to see them all.

By Sara S |

We were in town for hall of fame enshrinement week and stopped in here to see the monument and go through the museums. This is centered in the courtyard of the springfield museums. Pretty cool to see as a fan of Dr. SEUSS.

By Jeffrey D |

Dr Suess comes to life in these life size sculptures. Really well done and great for photos.

Finding parking is not easy, but if you are in Springfield, well worth checking out. Children all around were very excited. Even my teenager found it interesting.

It is FREE.

By Jeff D |

As the courtyard for 5 museums and the new Dr Seuss museum this is a must see spot.

Check out the favorites from books we had as a kid. Its free to stop by and take a stroll thru the garden. Free parking and free admission to the museums for Springfield residents!!

By revG777 |

The sculpture is in the middle of the museum complex. It has some of the most beloved Dr. Seuss characters. It's a great place to take vacation pics.

By Lee L |

These sculptures which were done by Dr Seuss's stepdaughter of his most famous characters. They are in the courtyard by the Springfield Museums. You don't need to pay to visit the museum to come and see the sculptures.

By OllieML |

Not much to see here but if you are a Dr. Seuss fan and you are in Springfield with young kids and need to kill an hour this is one place to do it. Be aware that this exhibit is all outdoors.

By Jeri A |

I am a long time Dr Seuss fanatic and have wanted to see this sculpture garden for a long time - it did not disappoint. The sculptures, done by Theodor Geisel’s step-daughter, are phenomenal- it is a ‘must see’ for any fan, young or old

By Dale P |

Sculptures from his step daughter. Very cool placement in the landscaping. Lots of photo opps.
Did I say free?

By seebear1502018 |

very well done. you are not allowed to climb on the statues, but it did not deter many children who were visiting.

By Jayme F |

We came early in the morning before the museums opened and the gates were open to the sculpture garden, so I'm assuming they do close and lock at some point. It was so cute! Butterfly gardens interspersed with metal sculptures of Dr. Seuss's characters, and even himself! Great photo spot with lots of benches around. Make sure you visit the museums around the garden too! This is Dr. Seuss's hometown and you'll learn much about his influences. I had my teenage son with me and even he loved it.

By @Frequent Flier |

This place is great. I stopped here on my way to Hartford Airport. Overall it was a cute museum, that is filled with great memorabilia from the life of Dr. Seuss. When I was there it was a such a playful place watching children run and jump around the sculptures. The home itself is filled with great activities for children. I know if I brought my 3 year old here in the future he would love it. His favorite book is Wacky Wednesday, and he would find that home very "wacky" Great place to visit for a mom or dad looking for a rainy day activity for children. The bottom floor is filled with hands on activities for kids, and the upstairs in interesting things for adults to look at and read. What a interesting life lived, and it was wonderful seeing what a happy loving family he came from. No wonder he had a such a great talent for making other's happy.

By ejpl |

This is agreat place to let the kids wander and explore on a beautiful day. Great for fun photos with the characters too!

By Heidi R |

If you are a Dr. Seuss fan..this is a must! Even if your not, you will be after you see this. Just a really cool place to sit back and reflect on some of his amazing characters.

By Seneca W |

It's so interesting. The statues are huge. You can't sit on them but you can get close enough to take pictures. Its a garden. So you can stop there be visiting the other buildings.

By Lou L |

We stopped at this place randomly but we were glad we did. The garden can be difficult to find, even using GPS or maps from TripAdvisor. It is next to the Springfield museum, walk beyond the museum entrance and there should be a sign indicating where it is from there. There are some sculptures of characters from all of Dr Seuss’ most famous works, some larger than others but it was cool to see a memorial to one of the best known children’s authors. There is a great photo opportunity here, a single chair with a giant “Oh The Places You’ll Go” book behind it, with the Grinch peering on, which is adjacent to the sculpture of Seuss and arguably his most famous creation, the Cat in the Hat. We didn’t go into the museum or visit the exhibits, but I’m sure they’re worthwhile. This was a cute little stop.

By Jamie |

This was one of the most enjoyable and fasionating museums I've been too! It definitely brings out the inner child in adults and introduces a new generation of children to the wonderful world of Dr Suess! It is a must must visit when in Springfield!!

By Jason G |

Surrounded by museums with free parking at said museums, the sculpture garden is an easy stop to make. If you have time, certainly visit the museums, but if you're short on time and just like roadside attraction-esque sites, then the sculpture garden is worth the 10-15 minutes that you'll be here.

By Angelina Assanti |

Florida does not have the kinds of museums that Massachusetts does. These museums have been around since I was a kid and are still amazing.

By dlenane78 |

Stopped here on our way to another attraction. Very cute sculptures!! We only spent maybe 20 minutes here though, so if you’re gonna stop, make sure to have other things planned!!

By Patricia P |

A wonderful place for both adults and children. A very hands on experience for all to enjoy the works of Dr. Seuss

By Sally W |

I really liked and appreciated seeing the statues.
Now the new museum is there, it's a must see. My kids are a little too old now.

By Nico Tate Parker |

This is such a cute sculpture garden and it's a great place to take your kids. Plus, if you visit the museum you can see how the sculptures are made.

By ScienceTeacher09 |

Springfield's beautiful downtown park (surrounded by a cluster of museums) with a Seuss/Geisel sculpture garden -- well worth a visit, even when snow covered.

By 2OldPirates |

Museum was closed when we got there and we were the only ones in the Sculpture Garden. Large and unique characters almost makes Dr. Seuss' stories seem real. Signs with ropes around the displays say they get too hot to touch.

Note, the Sculpture Garden is always free, beware you must pay for FIVE Museums in order to get to see just the Dr. Seuss museum. The price was $24.95 per ticket for adults. Even though I"m a fan of Dr. Seuss; as an adult, I couldn't bring myself to pay for 4 other museums that I was not interested in. Its sad because lower income families or families with many children would be challenged to pay to see the Dr. Seuss museum. Why force someone to pay for 5 museums, when they may only want to see one?

By Angelize1999 |

The statues were fun... But the garden is so pretty in the spring. We had a great time walking around. It's small.. prob ten minutes is enough. The museum's look great too. Will have to come back when we have more time!

By TrexlerPat |

My husband and I have a Dr Seuss room for our grandchildren since 1999 so seeing the display brings another dimension of art to our display. We intend to return to Springfield when the Museum opens in 2017 which will compliment the sculpture garden.

By slickwill190 |

I grew up with Dr Seuss So it’s a must see, it’s kind the small but has a basement , 1st and 2 Nd , there’s parking , definitely a souvenir shop. The lil loved it.

By Carolyn A |

Lots of us who grew up with Yertle the Turtle and the cat in the hat were enjoying this wonderful outdoor exhibit of Suess characters. Current children also. Great photo ops.

By AdventureWith2Kids |

This is an outdoor exhibit of Dr Seuss character sculptures. I read Dr Seuss all the time to my kids when they were young so stopping here was a must. Now, it is small, extremely small. Maybe 7-8 sculptures total. If you have time, there are some neat-looking museums surrounding the sculpture garden. We stopped here on our way elsewhere so we did not go into the museums. Worth a stop if you are in the area - is free!

By Di M |

Another Place On My List. Was So Excited To See All The Sculptures Outside Surrounded By Several Museums.

By 674earleh |

A graduate of a famous Springfield MA high School, Theodore Geisel's (Dr Suess) legacy lives on in his characterizations depicted in sculptures in the center of the Springfield Museum complex

By Tamara N |

What a great outdoor space! We enjoyed walking around the greenspace and finding all the sculptures -- all free. After being cooped up in the car, our toddler enjoyed running from statue to statue. Note that the sculptures get VERY hot and can hurt little hands. Hoping to come back when the new Seuss museum is open. Only complaint was that there weren't bathrooms available except in the cafe a bit of a walk from the gardens and there was no baby changing station there.

By jeanjacquespsaute |

I went there with my son and his 1 1/2 year old daughter. We toured the gardens and the Dc Seuss Garden is wonderful, well done and it is located in a nice area, between the museum buildings. Everyone from Springfield and the area should visit that little gem! Ant it is free!

By Mandy M |

Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden is just a small scale place. Don't think of taking a bus or train and walk there because you will walk through dangerous neighborhood. Not recommended to walk into this area after 6 pm.

By Frank S |

The garden is located in the middle of the museum complex. It's a nice shaded area with many Dr. Seuss sculptures. There's even a roaming, costumed "Cat in the Hat" to take pics with your family. That's IF he's not in the litter box when you visit. lol Recommended!

By Anibal F |

If you are a seuss fan then visiting this is fun. Even better is that it is free. That being said you get what you pay for. What this is is a small garden with some seuss sculptures. If you passing thru or visiting a museum then check it out. If not its not worth a visit.

By jesseniadechert |

Such an amazing and fun place to visit. I take my kids there every month and they never get tired of it. They love the little animals they have available to see including the fossils. My sons favorite part is the dinosaur and indian exhibit. The store is filled with beautiful jewelry and crystals, awesome smelling and crafty soaps, and more. They also have a part of the museum where little kids can enjoy playing, arts and crafts, and cat in the hat sculptures. I would recommend this museum to adults and families because each museum they have is absolutely amazing.

By varneykr |

What a lovely sculpture garden in the midst of hard-hit Springfield. As a Dr. Seuss fan from childhood, it was fun to see my picture-book icons brought to live.

By kakorb |

I will be back on my next business trip. I want to take my family next time so they will enjoy the four museums along with the Suess garden.

By nki65 |

I loved these creatures as a kid. It was nice to see them. Fun times. The park is in the middle of all the museums. Beautiful

By Ruth G |

I did borught a group of woman to visit this museum a while back for them to experience themselfs a option to where they should bring their kids and be actually prepared for it. no we didnt bring kids because at that time we decided to be the kids ourselfs and enjoy ti for what ti is, then in another ocation we brought the kids and focus on taking care of then while they enjoy themselfs

By Cynthia P |

Interesting and glad we stopped by. Probably not worth a special trip but if you’re in the area it’s worth the bit of extra time. Free to visit the sculpture garden.

By Ro W |

This is a great treat for kids of all ages. The sculptures are excellent and they did a nice job with all of them in an artistic way coupled with the museum in front.

By G152XOmaryl |

My 5 year old grandson an I spent the day at The Museums in Springfield. This beautiful garden sites in between the Quadrangle.
we sat on a bench and enjoyed our lunch

By Julie K |

Check out the photos of this place and you will see. If it's a nice day you can really just hang out and enjoy the sights.

By James H |

Quite enjoyable. The museum itself is mostly interactive stations for kids to get into but if you have a family then you'll dig this for sure. I always enjoyed Dr. Seuss' work, he made learning to read so much fun and his stories have a good moral relevence that kids need to have instilled in them, more than the robotic '3 R's'.

The sculpture garden itself is basically a brief 'hi and bye' walk-thru. It's pretty much 'take a few pictures here and get going', which is alright because parking totally is pathetic on these streets - money-grabbing meters and finding a good place to park can be a real drag.

Nonetheless, even though my time there was a bit short it's still a nice tranquil place to visit. It brings out the kid in you and you'll get good vibes and revisiting from when you learned how to read and how much FUN it was to learn it. That itself has stayed with me my whole life and for that Dr. Seuss gets a lot of credit and thanks from me.

I highly recommend giving this place at least a stroll, the garden is free and it's worth the effort to relive some childhood fun and pay a tribute to one of the greatest literary and educational geniuses of the 20th century. He revolutionized child education and it's all been for the better.

By Shirley5678 |

I really enjoyed myself with photos taken together with each sculpture, despite only a handful. Pitstop here if you are heading to Boston

By Jean Claude |

The exact location is hard to find. Once you find it, it is a great find. Children will find themselves finding great finds.

It’s ok if you are here for the Springfield Museums and the Dr. Seuss Museum but it wouldn’t be a stand alone destination for me.

By G Z |

This is a literally a walk in the park it's cool. The sculptures are a lark, and well done too. You can see the whole thing it goes real fast.
It will leave you with a smile that lasts and lasts.

By marisabelrosa |

The memorial isn't huge but it is beautiful. It's fun for the kids and I believe every kid should know who Dr. Suess is!!

By SR621 |

I loved the sculptures in the courtyard. They were very well done and beautiful looking in the snow.

By Fauzia T |

I am not too familiar with Dr. Seuss, but the sculptures seemed to draw a lot of kids. Nice walkways around.

By gk347N |

Does 4 sculptures really make a sculpture garden? My wife and I were looking for things to do near our room at the MGM Casino. We took the 10 minute walk to the garden. We were back in our room 20 minutes later, and only were gone that long because we took the long way around to walk back. A hugh disappointment which coukd be so much better. I guess if you are a Dr Seuss fan it is worth the visit, or need to kill 30 minutes, or have small children it is nice. Not worth the time it took.

By Brad B |

There are only a limited number of statues and they are in bronze. This attraction could be so much better with more Seuss characters and if they were painted in Seuss colors. Small children will enjoy them, older children will grow tired of it quickly. A pleasant place to relax with free parking and open until 8 p.m. which is about 3 hours past the closing time of the surrounding museums.

By Ashley E |

If you're in the area or visiting the other museums, the sculpture garden is very quaint and great to see. There are no barriers around the statues, they do see that climbing/touching is ok, as long as it's not a hot day. They did have a sign saying not to because it would be too hot to touch.

By Andrea D |

The sculpture garden is an enclosed space located just outside the Springfield Museums quadrangle. Paid museum admission is NOT required to enter courtyard. There are about 8 bronze sculptures including Dr. Seuss himself and all are photo worthy. There are signs indicating you should not climb on the sculptures, but there were people who did just for photos, but it is not a playground. Plan to spend anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour depending on your level of interest. My teen daughter and I spent about 30 minutes total visiting each sculpture, reminiscing about our own Dr. Seuss memories and taking pictures, of course! There were a few families with small children who enjoyed running around the courtyard as their parents sat and watched. It is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area!
I recently learned there are plans to open the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum onsite - not sure if it will replace an existing museum.

By indah nuria S |

After visiting the amazing world of Dr. Seuss, don’t forget to visit this memorial sculpture garden right across the yard.

Once again you will be amused by those famous characters from Dr. Seuss’ characters. Again say hi to Cat in the Hat, the grinch, Horton, Thidwick, Thing 1 and 2 and more

You will love to see all those details of the sculptures. Really amazing!

And it’s free!

By Judith F |

If you've read Dr Seuss, this little Seuss characters statue garden in middle of the museum complex. Is a fun stop.

By Whispermom |

Outdoor experience, free of cost, always enjoyable. Bring little ones with you and watch the awe on their faces. Bring a Dr. Seuss book to read out loud to your kiddos and be surrounded by others attracted to the rhythmic lines lines we grew up on. Visit the characters. Chase pigeons. Pop into the City Library for a taste of history and the scent of mmmmm, real paper and leather bound books. Then the computers. Then the kids rooms. Then head back out to greet the statues and wave goodbye until next time.

By rolcml |

Loved the Dr Seuss experience with the grandchildren. The sculptures are so lifelike with great expression!

By tazzzz13 |

What a great place no matter what age. Situated next to the Museum it's a great place to visit. Probably the best place in Springfield for photo ops.

By Benihana0341 |

The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden is a very well maintained area located in the block of buildings that make up the "Springfield Museums". It's a great little spot for kids and adults and Dr. Seuss fans of all backgrounds. Very nice for relaxing and some photo opportunities.

By Jim R |

The Bronze castings were actually designed by Dr Seuss' step daughter . The are cast resemble closely with chapters in Seuss's books. My grandson loves to interact with the statues . This is a great place for a photo op with the kids!! Just be aware no climbing on them. There are several in the courtyard ,and the yertle the turtle fountain is a short stroll away at the far corner of the Quadrangle.

By bmx47g |

Nice place to bring the family, not just the garden Museums that are spectacular with a planatarium and a very large library and everything on very nice grounds and easy parking

By Jillian |

The sculpture garden is a fun stop and worth a quick trip, especially as it is free. When we were there, they were working on an adjacent Dr. Seuss museum, and I hope to make it back to visit that when it is open. There are several adjacent museums to the sculpture garden that are also worth a visit.

By whiskey3pa |

A great set of sculptures bringing Seuss and his creations together in our world. Parking is hard to get nearby, so plan ahead. The sculptures are terrific. The Grinch and Max were my favorite. They rope them off when warm and sunny to prevent burns, but you can get plenty close for good pictures. We spent about 30 minutes parking, walking and looking.
A bonus is that right outside the corner gate on the library end is The Puritan, a great piece by August St Gaudens.

By Maribel5951 |

A wonderful little gem located within the museum quadrangle and walking distance from then hotel. Great place for kids to roam and let off some steam.

By Frank C |

We were driving through Springfield back from Boston and needed a stop for the kids to stretch their legs. This was the PERFECT stop. It's free, short in duration (<1 hour) and something the entire family could relate to.

The public library is right next door as is a museum so if you want to spend a bit more time in springfield you easy could couple this visit with those. Did I mention the sculpture garden is free!!

By Rita V |

The dreams that Dr. Seuss built, a place to bring stories to life. If you live in New England, and have children that are immersed in Dr. Seuss (not what you know as an adult and the dirt about the Seuss himself...), this is a place where stories take life.

By Jen C |

This area is really peacefully and the sculptures are a whimsical addition to the area. Fun place to take some photos especially with the bronze Grinch. Take a couple of hours to visit the museums surrounding the Sculpture Garden; impressive collections.

By Brad M |

If you love Dr. Seuss, you will love this little statue park. It was great to see the reaction of the kids on a beautiful summer day.

By Parag Gulwani |

Best place to visit with young kids, especially those who’ve read the Dr Seuss books throughout their elementary school years. They have the museum with very minute details about most of the characters from the Dr Seuss books. They have some kids activities and things to explore around the garden and inside the museum too.

By wanbee |

Oh, what can be said about this nifty, fun place?
A wonderful use of a courtyard space!
With the Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2,
You'll skip to the statue of Horton hearing the "Who".
"Who else is there" did I hear you wonder?
Why Sally and Thidwick and Sam I Am, by thunder!
Now you really should see it, cuz, there's Max and the Grinch and Gertrude McFuzz,
Oh the Places You'll Go! book is there, too because
Dr. Seuss was a gift to people of all ages.
With his books we read and will forever turn pages.

By Ben Leigh |

Great museum, the kids loved it. You also get to explore 5 other museums for the cost of the ticket including Science, motor vehicles, sculpture and art. All museums were fantastic and we enjoyed the experience

By Rich N |

This is an oppurtunity to bring your children and your granchildren and be right up next to the characters you have read to them. Have a picture taken beside them and get to touch, yes get to touch them. I do love green eggs and ham!

By Charlene H |

Very cool sculptures of beloved Dr. Seuss characters. Enjoyed seeing them and wish there were more. I missed little Cindy Lou Who!

By Jae W. Lee |

During our brief stay over at Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel, we visited this garden established to celebrate Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) who was a favorite native of Springfield. The garden was within easy walking distance from the hotel. Exiting the hotel, we turned right, and walked straight ahead following Harrison Avenue until T-intersection at the end of Harrison Avenue. There, we turned right onto Chestnut Street. After a short walk, we came to Dr. Seuss Museum compound with the entrance to the sculpture garden on the left side of the street. Although the address of the sculpture garden was shown on the map as “21 Edwards Street”, we could enter the garden through the entrance on Chestnut Street. There were metered parking spaces along Chestnut Street on the right side. Upon entering the museum/garden gate, we walked straight ahead until we reached “The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum” building on the left hand side. There, we turned right, and walked briefly to reach clusters of bronze sculptures on the left. We strolled through the sculpture garden, admiring bronze sculptures of the characters created by Dr. Seuss. We felt that children, who have read Dr. Seuss books, would be delighted to see these sculptures. The admission to the sculpture garden was free. It was 9.34 am on Friday, February 4th. The garden was already open to public at 9.00 am, but we were the only ones in the garden. Somehow the sculptures of Grinch and Max called our special attention, because Grinch seems to have stolen not only Christmas but also our “normal lives” for almost a year with Covid lockdown!

By littlerb |

The garden is very fun and interesting. Because of the heat, the sculptures were roped off and we couldn't get close to them, but we could still take photos and sit in the grass and relax for a few hours

By JJFlash7 |

Great.... really wonderful Dr Seuss museum, love the sculptures in the garden... really a must see for young and old, everyone... highly recommend... should be one of the #1 sights in Springfield

By tank1050 |

Really neat accessible set of sculptures. They are all located in the greens between all of the Springfield museums, right in front of the Seuss Museum. They are great replicas and are easily identifiable. There is plenty of space here and you can get right up to the sculptures and touch them and take pictures with them. The Lorax sits alone at the other end of the green. Don't miss them when you visit the museums.

By 88janetn |

We were thrilled when we heard that there was a new Seuss museum in Springfield. It's VERY kid focused, and kid friendly. The rooms are bright and invited for children to explore. There are LOTS of photo ops. As adults visiting without children, there were limited spaces that talked about his life - but we thoroughly enjoyed what they offered. We were NOT pleased with the prices however. You pay one price that gives you entry into all the Springfield museums, which if you were spending the day, would be fantastic. We really only had time for the Seuss museum, so the value was very poor for us. We strongly encourage the museum mgt. to allow purchase of a ticket to only the museum visited. Normally we would have turned away at the exorbitant pricing but decided to splurge for a one time visit.

By lauramE8728PX |

Enjoy Dr. Seuss Exhibition through the eyes of your grand-babies. It's like a little bit of the book is coming to life & they can relate to it, so COOL!

By jack M |

Even for adults it's a very pleasant place to visit. We visited it on our way north to the Big E Fair and we enjoyed it.

By TALNewYork |

This is a very nice area for any Dr. Seuss fan. It is a great way to take pictures with your favorite book characters. Unfortunately, Dr. Seuss' house was not open, as it was closed for rennovations. We will definitely have to make a trip back to see that.

By businesscenter |

Saw this on TripAdvisor and decided to take a look; Awesome place to visit. Time did not allow visits to any museums in the area, but they look worth the nominal cost.

By Gabriella B |

I love Dr. Seuss so I thought the museum and garden were really cool. It is a bit childish, and kids will definitely enjoy it. But even as an adult I did too

By rnmperry99 |

This does not take very long but it is cool to look at and enjoy! It brings back a lot of fond memories. It is also located conveniently in the courtyard of all of the springfield museums which gives you something else to enjoy while you are there.

By Bob G |

Very nice place to check out while at the Springfield museums. It looks like on cooler days you can actually take pictures with the famous Dr Seuss bronze? Sculptures. You can walk through the garden in five minutes or spend some time checking them out.

By Anjie M |

im reside in springfield so for my family is a go to place on rainy days . or just there is a great activity going on and of course it is FREE for anyone that lives in springfield is right on a bus route. and not to far a walk from some really good grub

By Tamba5 |

It was fun to wander through the statues and visit with old Dr. Seuss friends. Would love to revisit with more time.

By poilgrant |

Very nice and cool. Other museums in same area so not a waste of time to go explore. Behind a large city library too.

By MatthewASharp |

Did a detour to see this site on the back of positive TA reviews.

It's a shame that the museum still isn't open and like the nearby library it isn't in the best part of Springfield.

Saying all that the sculptures were fun to look at and reminded me how good the movies were.

It's a 10 min visit.

By Chris M |

$25 per person gets you into 5 museums. Dr Seuss was a shy guy and his personal items should all be read. The building is set up for children but adults will enjoy it without issue. Lots of color and they only let so many people in on the hour. The other 4 museums are packed with great stuff. There is also a Dr Seuss sculpture garden which is great. They have free parking on the property. I will come back again.

By cindy h |

I took my 5 year old grand daughter to the Sculpture Garden. She had a blast posing for pictures with all of the characters! I would definitely go back!

By malucia |

A new addition to the Seuss Sculpture Garden opened on June 3rd, and it definitely is amazing. The walls of the street level rooms are painted with Seuss characters, and offer many hands on literacy activities for pre K and kindergarten kids. The second level contains three galleries, made up of five rooms which contain Seuss' actual drawing board, furniture, books, art, etc., in reproductions of his workspace and his den. There are also many photos, drawings meant for family members, and a family tree mural. This level would appeal to kids 6 to 96. The lower level has rooms for scheduled activities. The museum is a feel good place to visit, and you will come away having learned some new things about Dr. Seuss and with an even greater appreciation of his work.

By Jen060113 |

The museum itself was closed by the time we got there. The sculptures were awesome. It was fun to see the characters from our books. I wouldn't make a day out of it but if you're in the area def stopped. Next year 2017, the Seuss museum was advertise to open.

By hirschellin |

The museums were a lovely surprise on a cold February day. The Dr Seuss museum does not reopen until the summer. The sculptures are very good and would delight Dr. Seuss lovers of all ages.

By Marty3812013 |

Peaceful, delightful sculptures. Creative right in the heart of Springfield. Easy to locate and a nice little shop right off the quad.

By Monica G |

We will be back, the museum doessnt open till June 5th but the Dr. Seuss sculptures were a sight to see. The kids really had fun taking pictures with each sculptures

By Kevin L |

How can you not be in the area and miss the sculptures. Everyone of these brought back memories and stories from everyone about their first encounter with Suess,. It is very well laid out and the sculpting and casting captures the details. We are looking forward to the museum. Also, Mulberry street is only a few blocks from there, so you have to get a picture of this as well.

By King Y |

They are putting together a special museum for Dr Seuss. This review is only for the garden as presented on Aug 2016. It was nice, easy to walk. Lots of pokestops! The museums right there weren't as good as I had hoped though.

By Gilbert N |

Great place to re-live childhood memories and to see the museum is a gem that started in Springfield

By Bernard W |

Nestled among museums is this homage to Dr. Seuss with large sculptures of Seuss story characters. Definitely a place regardless of one's age. We love this free, outdoor site. In the summer heat, the sculpture can get very hot. Mulberry Street is nearby.

By Check_Please123 |

This complex of museums has a lot to offer. For kids and adults alike. Parking is easy and the grounds are very nice

By Paul B |

Neat bronze sculpture garden inside the courtyard of all of Springfield's main museums. The sculpture garden itself is free. Neat stop if you have 20 minutes to spare.

By swj |

The sculptures presented here nicely encapsulate many Suess stories, It would be nice if there could be more.

By Happy Traveler |

This is a great interactive place for families with kids. The house is very colorful! I liked the fun letters, drawings and family pictures around the house. I love the gardens as well, but I was expecting it to be a little bogger than it was.

By Guelphwanderer |

We wanted to check out the sculpture garden while in Springfield, but didn't have time to go into the museum.
The museum compound itself is definitely charming. The sculptures in the sculpture park are quite well done, but there aren't actually that many of them. Unfortunately, while we visited the park all of the sculptures were roped off with warnings to stay away from them due to the heat (it wasn't actually very warm when we visited, but recent days had been).
I wouldn't recommend going too far out of your way just to visit the sculpture park, but if you're in the area it is a worthwhile spot for kids and Seuss fans.

By enrichmentacademy |

We were passing through and looking for a rest stop, just off the highway and within 5 minutes we were at the park. A beautiful setup of museums that have an inner courtyard type appearance that felt very safe and quite. The park was totally fenced in and free ( a bonus for our large family) the kids enjoyed reciting each book related to the sculptures and taking photos. The design and the layout of this area wa very impressive and we had wished we could have visited the museum of natural history but they were preparing to close for the day. We do plan on using this area as a " rest stop " again on our way to Connecticut but totally worth the short exit off the highway.

By Jane D |

Have been many times with nieces and grandchildren. Springfield residents are free. Out of Towners have to pay, but could spend all day there, between the many museums and the outdoors Dr. Seuss exhibits. Bring a lunch and eat outdoors. Have many attractive benches or the lawn. Many schools use as a field trip during the school year. Parking is very good.

By BigBrains O |

"Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities." I definitely had to look through the wrong end of the telescope during this visit. Please don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of Dr. Seuss but I feel this memorial failed to do justice.

By Cheryl A |

Stopped in on a Saturday which was very busy to see the park where the bronze statues of Dr. Seuss. There’s not a lot of statues in the park outside the museum but worth seeing. We didn’t go into the museum but it sounds worth visiting.

By Randi D |

Adorable sculptures. Small garden. Glad we saw it but expected something more. Disappointed that the Wonderful World of Dr. Seuss Museum was not completed at time of visit. Says opening 2017

By Valerie KJ |

Visiting the historic Dr. Seuss exhibits were a lot of fun. It had several of the stories characters in the display. My grandchildren had a good time!

By James M |

with some of hos book being writen about places in Springfield ( and to thing it happened on Mulberry St) it a great place for kids of all ages that have ever been read to or have read Dr Seuss, the whole musseme is a great experice

By Mari_G |

Since our family was in the area we decided to visit this memorial. We took plenty of pictures. Its a nice free thing to do with kids who enjoys Dr. Seuss. We spent about 30 minutes here and parked in the Museum parking lot. We loved this experience and if you are in the area then this is a must see spot!

By gjsbill |

Pleasant spot to relax for awhile. If you are a Dr. Seuss fan stop here and take some pictures with the statues. This is in the courtyard behind the Springfield Library main branch and the various Springfield museums. If you are a museum goer you can spend the entire day here. There is a nice shady grassy area with some benches.

By MaxnBaci |

This is not much to this, but what is here is pretty cool. I believe that hey are adding an exhibit in the museum.

By DM1905 |

If you drag your spouse or kids to the armory to see all the guns, walk down the hill and let them have a walk through the Dr. Seuss Gardens. They are cute and free. we went on a Tuesday morning and the place was almost deserted. Great photo opportunities with your favorite Seuss characters.

By Richelle I |

This is a small area, like a courtyard, at the group of museums.
I'm not sure if you can go just to this part (we paid an admission for the group of museums and this was part of it).
Basically a park with a few statues of scenes from the Dr Suess books.

By Karen F |

Right down in Springfield with other museums right there on the grass quadrangle to visit! But most of all, families will love the graphcs, the fun images, the walk-through of great exhibits anyone who has read Dr. Seuss books will love.

By chimneysweep1912 |

If you are nearby its a fun place to stop no matter what age - although no question that pictures are fun with the kids (but no climbing on the statues). I don't know that I'd suggest a special trip but if you are in the area it's definitely worth stopping by.

By Douglas B |

Pretty nice courtyard. I did not visit the museum but the general area was a very nice area to walk thru during a mental break from my seminar downtown. Easy walk from downtown. Slightly uphill one way.

By MaryE |

The sculpture garden is a children's delight. All the sculptures are easy to recognize. Lots of fun especially if you have read the books.

By Hildetoronto |

What luck that the Seuss museum had just opened the week prior to our arrival. This is one of the most enjoyable museums I've ever seen. I would go back in an instant if I lived closer. We came for the sculptures and were pleasantly surprised by the museum.

Parking is free and the admission price is for the five museums and galleries surrounding the Seuss sculpture garden.

We had a timed ticket to enter the Seuss Museum. We selected 1 p.m. and the next available after that was 2 p.m. At first, it seemed a bit chaotic but the crowds quickly dissipated and we found ourselves almost alone toward the end of the hour. There were many games, activities, and interactive features for all ages. The walls had paintings from Seuss books, and some characters were re-created in plastic. One area of particular interest contained some of Geisel's notes and letters. Great fun to read. There was a replica of his living room, and work space, and misc family pieces.

By motorgoddess |

Perfect time with our adult children. We all got to relive our childhood the gift shop is alot of fun also

By Julia R |

So much fun! Interactive museum. I visited many times for almost 25 years. Worth the trip. Not far from the Springfield Armory.

By Bre B |

Loved this!! One of a kind! Learned so much! Great size, not to much that it is overwhelming. The ONLY thing that could have been better was the gift shop! There was hardly anything there for Dr. Seuss. I would have bought anything because I loved Dr. Seuss so much.

By gypsyred |

The sculptures in the garden were delightful. They were created by his step-daughter. You will recognize many of the characters made famous by Dr. Seuss. It was drizzly the day we went, but it was still fun. The flowers were spectacular as well. If you loved the books as a child, go. Your inner child will thank you.

By boymomdfw |

Enjoyed the statues. It isn't as big as you think. I am looking forward to the opening of the museum in 2017.

By Lee H |

Definitely worth a visit if your passing by on the turnpike and fancy a break. Not much else to Springfield but we did enjoy the Dr Seuss garden, it's in a nice setting, the surrounding buildings etc compliment the garden.

By colourpop |

Cool sculptures with classic Dr. Seuss characters. When we went we were not allowed to touch the sculptures, which was a little bit disappointing. It's a peaceful place surrounded by 4 museums.

By Rebecca O |

These statues bring Dr. Seuss to huge proportions. It is a wonderful photo opportunity and it’s made beautiful. The Lorax and the turtles are further from these other statues.

Outside the fine arts museum they have a musical instrument that looks like a little art display. It has two mallets to play the instrument.

By Dotsbird |

These sculptures are so well done. The features on the character brought them to life. Kids will love this!

By crissyb123 |

I am a local for this attraction and always bring my out of town visitors who have children here. They love the bronze statues (which make for great picture opportunities) and the museum is nice too. Not the best or biggest musuem, but still nice.

By Cozette H |

Who doesn't love Dr Seuss? Beautiful detailed bronze statues of all his best characters. My favorite: Yertle the Turtle. About 20 turtles stacked in Salamasond!

By RogueTrippers |

The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden has been a must-stop destination on every single one of our Roadtrips through Massachusetts for years. We never miss an opportunity to visit, and take photos with some of our favourite characters from the beloved books of Dr Seuss.
This a beautiful place to spend some time. the sculptures are perfectly created in the exact likeness you would expect. You will find Thing 1 & 2, Horton, Thidwick the big-hearted moose, Sam I Am, The grinch & his dog max, The Cat in the hat, and Maizy la bird.
You can pose for photos with your favourite characters, but be warned - on a hot day, the sculptures get hot as well, and can burn bear skin. We learned this the hard way. The Museum has taken to cordoning off the sculptures with warnings about this.

Since June 2017, there is even more of a reason to visit the sculpture garden, as now there is the Amazing World of Dr Seuss museum - which is an absolute must for everyone to see.

If you are on a road trip through MA, make sure you stop in the Springfield and visit the Dr Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden, and Dr Seuss Museum.

By bjanavice |

We stopped by here on our way to the Springfield Armory Historic Site. The Sculptures are very cool, especially if you like Dr. Suess. We did not go into the museum. The Sculpture Garden is free and would be a good place to let kids run around and burn off some energy.

By Autumn M |

Such a cute place to walk around and take pictures. The sculptures are done so well. There are plenty of places to sit and it is located right in the middle of all of the museums.

By Stephen P |

my son likes Dr. Seuss. The bronze statue are exquisite and tell the Story quite well , and bring the caricatures up close and personal. The Garden makes a wonderful photo shoot.

By Stephanie D |

The sculpture garden is a great way to see your favorite characters up close and personal. It is free to the public and there are many benches strategically placed for people to sit, rest, play, or reflect. Loved seeing those characters!

By Elona23 |

A new renovation promises to have an awesome museum soon, but so far just the sculpture garden was underwhelming. However, we bought a ticket for the science museum and art museum that share the space with the Dr. Suess sculpture garden. The science museum was TERRIFIC. Lots of animal exhibits, the kids were fascinated.

By Jane S |

The sculpture park is free and the sculptures are wonderful. Visiting this park encouraged us to visit the museums.

By Nomadeva |

We were on a cross-country drive, with kids, and the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden was supposed to be a quick stop to use the restroom and look around. It turned into a three-hour ramble around the park-like setting. The kids loved exploring and I was delighted to find a new character or funny scene just about everywhere I looked. It's not a big space, and is insulated from the roads, so it's great to let kids run off energy.

Don't miss the bookstore - they have lots of hard-to-find Seuss books, and unique items.

By SLBsct |

This is a free sculpture garden with a number of sculptures from various Dr Seuss books, The courtyard is located within the Springfield Museum complex which is also small.. There is some free parking near the side entrance on the street.

By MacMower |

Beautiful gardens with life sized renderings of popular characters from Dr Seuss’ books. There are five museums around the perimeter of the gardens, which makes the gardens a quiet place for a break between museum visits.

By quasimoto559 |

If you grew up reading Dr. Seuss stories and read them to your children and grandchildren, I think you would enjoy these sculptures. All the characters are depicted as well as the artist at his desk writing. Granted, there is not much to this, but it is very well done. We were in the area and I was so glad we stopped.

By toddandtraci |

My teens did not want to do the museum so we just stopped for the sculpture garden. It was very small but nice, I would not go out of your way to see it as you can see it all in like 15 minutes

By Robert S |

This is a darling little park with all the memorable characters frolicking and a sculpture of the good doctor sitting at his drawing board.
It is located in the courtyard of the Springfield Museums and is a free playground area.
Great for kids young and old!

By Gail V |

There is no fee for the sculpture park. It is not a huge area but has one large nd a couple of smaller sculptures.

By Ready to Retire |

Excellent Musuem. Downstairs is very children oriented, but fun for adults too. Upstairs is lots of memorabilia. Loved reading the notes written to his nephew, Theodor.

By Jessielyse |

We stopped at the Quad Museums which included the Dr. Seuss Museum and Memorial Garden. The garden is a nice extra - really just a place to admire the sculptures.

By Brian R |

This was the main reason we came to Springfield! We came to see the Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden. The sculptures were very nice, the only complaint that I have is that there weren't any Sneech Statues! They are my favorite Seuss characters!

By TrainManDan10 |

As the newly restored, 1926 Springfield Union Station is only 0.4 mile from the Dr. Suess Sculpture Museum, you can take a free self-guided tour of the Station.

Better yet, travel to the Station by bus (Greyhound, Peter Pan or PVTA) or rail (CTrail or Amtrak), tour Station, and continue to the Seuss Museum.

At the Station, an historical landmark at the "Railroad Crossroads of New England", you can soak in the 30 foot ceiling, the attractive columns, lights, and marble chipped floor, all restored to their original high status. Also, take in the restored clock, wooded baggage cart, wooden schedule board, and barber chair.

By Tom S |

The museum was being renovated with the sculptures outside were incredible. Who hasn't read his books. This is great for all ages!

By Im_traveling_solo |

What child didn't love Dr Suess? Imagine if you had been able to meet the Cat in the Hat or walk among Horton, Things 1 and 2, Sam I am. Imagine having your photo taken on a chair inside of a giant Dr Suess book. And who was this Dr Suess? A statue will show you that as well. I went alone while visiting the surrounding museums but what a pleasure seeing the faces of smaller children as they saw these characters and others.

This wonderful display is a short hop off I-91 off State St. It connects to the back side of the library. How about a stop there to read some Dr Suess before bringing the kids out to the garden?

The best part? It's FREE!

This also connects to the Science Museum, 2 art museums and History of Springfield Museum (one fee covers all museums)

By valerie a |

You do not have to be a child to love Dr Seuss characters. In an outdoor area of the Springfield Art Museum is a display of Dr. Seuss characters. It's fun to take pictures with your favorite characters, but unfortunately, I deleted mine. After you take some pictures ,go to the gift store as there is always a sales table.

Such a cute little garden that is right in the middle of the museums. There is no cost to visit the statues.and they are really cute. It was a fun short diversion from driving, good way to stretch legs and just visit something unique. Would recommend to anyone. It looks like they have future plans for a Dr. Seuss exhibit to the area, so look forward to that the next time we are that direction. Very well done and enjoyable for young and old.

The Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden is the least that could have been done for the great children's author. This is not worth stopping to see unless you are within a mile of the location.

By teatimekids |

I took sooo many pictures of all the sculptures. It was fantastic to see. I wish I had better weather.

By Autumnlover74 |

We love Dr. Seuss and were so excited to see the city he was born in and the statues made to honor him. Beautiful garden and tribute.

By Josh T |

This small courtyard filled with oversized sculptures invites kids to climb and play on arches, benches, and bridges. As others have pointed out, you can quickly wander into some very rough neighborhoods. However, the sculpture garden and surrounding museum complex are clean and seem safe. I would not visit after dark.

By jmasc1 |

If you're just going to see the sculptures, I don't think it's worth the trip. The magic is seeing these in content of the museum. Our little boy did like walking around the grounds, though. But he wasn't too sure what to make of these. Really enjoyed what he saw inside, though. He had a lot of fun.

Seeing the outdoor sculptures along with the Dr. Seuss Museum made the day more enjoyable. The sculptures bring the stories to life!!

By Melissa P |

Great place for a quick visit. Such a shame it was so hot we could play in and on the sculptures! Very excited for the museum opening in 2017!! Will be back!

By GarciaEmelie |

Bring your camera, lots of fun things to see and climb on and expore for the kids, very colorful and Cherry for the kids, even outside the kids explore and take pics with big statues of the Dr.suess and friends.admission is fair be sure to pack and lunch and play awhile.

By Marsha H |

We wanted to see the sculptures of beloved Suess characters. Not disappointed. The green space surrounded by museums is very relaxing and felt cool even in The heat of the afternoon.
There were fewer sculptures then I anticipated but I think this is because they were all grouped together closely. Then lots of grass
On a cooler day children can climb on and over the sculptures but this day there were many warnings about them being too hot to play on.
If you want to go to the surrounding museums, start early in the day. Entry is on price for five museums. Great deal.

The sculpture garden is a part of Springfield Museums. Dr. Seuss house is on the quadrangle. Only caution, signs say not to sit on the sculptures, they are tempting! The garden is bronze so in the summer could burn.

By lubumbashi13 |

Cute sculptures - definitely not a full day destination - combine it with a visit to Springfield's museums!

By Keydawn |

Wonderfully executed sculptures, probably artistically better than the horrific illustrations in Dr. Seuss' books. The odd thing is that it's hidden away from view from the streets, so you can't see them while driving by and for out of town folks, you are not sure where they are and so you do have to park in the visitor's parking lots, and walk into the "quadrangle" to see them. Then of course, they roped them all off and posted silly make-shift signage for fear some kids might burn their sensitive skin for touching metal that's been sitting in the sun and sue. I mean, really, there is tree shades over the sculptures. The garden is surrounded by interesting architectural facades, mostly imitations of grander buildings elsewhere, you can almost pretend that you are in Florence or Paris if you ignore the much smaller scale of the buildings.

By Heatherbelle73 |

The Garden was a lot of fun. With going to the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss, the sculptures bring back a hint of nostalgia of when life was much easier. Definitely recommend you going.

We met a family who was recreating their trip from when their kids were little with copies of Dr. Seuss books in the pictures. Definitely fun for all ages.

By Missy M |

went on a b-day trip with my kiddo we spent the entire day at the museums. he loved the Seuss Museum

By Brent M |

The Sculpture garden is free but i recommend buying a ticket to see the museums, All tickets include general entry to all five museums on campus. The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum, George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, Springfield Science Museum, Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden and Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History were all wonderful and each had their own interesting exhibits and presentations. The live Seismic monitor at the Science center was facinating.

The Springfield museums are a great venue for children and adults alike! A must see if your visiting Springfield or on summer vacation

I am a lifelong resident of Springfield, MA and have read Dr Seuss books to my children and grandchildren for many years. This Bronze statur park features many of his classic characters as well as a statur of Dr Seuss with his pet "Cat" at his drawing table. This ties in with the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle so for a low fee you can see all kinds of objects and art and museums, in one area.

By Charles_and_Susan |

Entrance to this garden is free and so you can wander around and view them all. Don't miss Yurtle the Turtle who's in a different section of the garden.

If you're into Dr Seuss then pay to visit the museum where you'll see how the statues were made. In the museum there are personal artifacts, letters and drawings by Dr Seuss and we'll as representations of some of the characters from his books.

By woody096 |

Iron statues of the Dr. Seuss characters. Kids like to see them. This is all outside so take that into consideration when deciding to go.

By Dominik K |

The Dr.Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden is very small with amazing statue of the best work from Dr.Seuss. The Sculptures are really impressive. It's a free attraction, but in 2017 they will open a Dr. Seuss Museum.

By wendyrful |

Charming, inspiring, nostalgic, wow! For everyone. Bringing the inside out. All the time. Must I rhyme?

By Wander28124685294 |

Was in town for a quick visit. My teen son and I stopped by (I love Dr.Seuss!), and I was pleasantly surprised with the garden, as well as the museum. There were so many fun facts to learn, activities to complete and life sized statues to take pictures by. All the rooms were interactive....do not miss all the activities downstairs.
My 14 yr old son wasn't really excited about going (he was humoring me)....and left with a smile on his face.
He enjoyed the green eggs tic-tac-toe game...and the build a Seuss hat. We took many pictures and had a really nice time.

My wife and I visited the Dr Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden in Springfield, Massachusetts, during a tour of New England. We decided to go, as it was recommended in our guide book.
There is a small parking lot opposite the museum and the sculpture display consists of a series of bronze sculptures that were made by Dr Seuss’s step-daughter. Some, like the elephant are quite large.
Next to the garden is the Dr Seuss Museum (“The Amazing World of Dr Seuss”). We did not have time to visit that but for Dr Seuss buffs, it is probably essential viewing.
A fun place to visit if you are visiting Springfield.

By rsquaredb |

Fun sculpture park. Not that big but worth checking out if you grew up with Seuss. Go back to being a kid.Bring your kids/grand kids and check out the museums too.

By Steven Brekel |

We did not go into the museum, but the area had lots of parking and was just off the highway. We nearly missed Yurtle the Turtle cause we is around the corner of the fine arts building but it was neat. There are about 6 total pieces accounting for about 8 stories. The main collage is so big and 4 sided that it was hard to photograph. Don't miss the cover of the big book...we nearly did.

By TerryCanberra |

Dr Seuss is a major character in Twentieth-Century American culture and like the nation, his legacy is mixed and full of controversy. However, the statues in the garden inspire sheer joy as the memories of fantasy and poetry fill the blossoming gardens of April in Springfield. It is worth a visit. We came on a day when gardeners were pruning and checking the sprinkler systems on a warm April day.

By hjt35650 |

If you don’t have time to visit the museum, take a few minutes to explore the sculptures in the garden. Great stop. Free parking.

By Marlene C |

Seeing these sculptures are like reading to your kids and having the pictures come alive. Good for all ages but really fun to see little kids faces as they walk through. Downtown Springfield with really easy available parking. Lots to see and do inside and out.

By DancesWithCountries |

The sculpture garden is really part of the museum complex, and all of it is really worth a visit. As to the garden, you really get a feel for Dr. Seuss and his very warm and supportive message to kids. Highly recommend a visit.

By dbench |

This is a quick stop if you are in the area. It's next to the museum that apparently has a bigger display of Dr. Seuss. However, the sculptures and the book were great (you'll see what I mean). it doesn't cost anything and is a great opportunity to see your favorite characters including Horton, Thing 1 and Thing 2, etc...

By Yvette C |

Great sculptures, in a beautiful setting, and on a cooler day the kids can play on them. The gardens were cool though, with some big trees providing shade.

By Jack W |

Timeless outdoor treasure. Only one of the attractions to the Quadrangle. You should see it with or without the kids.

By Deb_traveller |

We stopped here while on a visit to the city and loved it! Parking is free in their lot and you can visit several museums right in the same area. The sculptures were really great and on a hot day the nice large shade trees and benches were much appreciated. There's a nice gift shop right next to the parking area too.

By Swedishtomcat |

Wonderful set of metal sculptures which capture the essence of Dr Seuss’ marvellous characters. It is free to stroll around and admire.

By bikerchic2363 |

Great place for both the young and old. Also, I think it's fantastic that they don't charge the entrance fee if you are a Springfield resident!

By iram623 |

Very interesting and nice museum. The museum brought back childhood memories. The museum is well worth a visit.

By maddy16348 |

My grandchildren ages 2 and 4 love going to see the garden whenever they come to visit. We enjoy reading the Dr Suess books at the site in good weather. They enjoy touching and viewing the characters during the story. We visit the museum area as well. This makes a nice excursion

By Heather |

This is right in the middle of the museums in the area and is free to visit. Don't miss the Yertle the Turtle sculpture around the corner from the rest of them.

By aebush2017 |

Loved Seuss as a Kid and this fun a hoot to see some of the characters 'life size'. Perfect for a short relaxing break to a day or kill time. Good photo op too!

By deanofteddybears |

Five museums for one price! Of course, the Dr. Seuss one was my favorite! Lots of playful activities for children. The sculpture garden is cool!

By 2ceejays |

I found it to be a bit expensive, but if you're a fan, it's worth a stop. Probably would be more fun for those with younger children, but my 16 year old and I enjoyed it given that we read lots of Dr. Seuss when he was little. We only spent about an hour here. Got some fun pictures with the life-sized characters inside. We weren't sure what time we would arrive but were able to buy a ticket online prior to arriving when we were on our way to ensure we would not have to wait too long once we got there. They had timed entry tickets this summer as they were expecting crowds for this new museum.

By DrSharonGreenfieldMA |

Beautifully located inside the courtyard of the Springfield Museums. A delight for all ages. Even nice on a rainy day which is when I saw it last.... But really lovely on a sunny day.

This was not on our original list of stops while traveling North. Yet, while we were searching on Yelp my husband came across Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden. He knows how much I loved his work of art and even did a play with my students. He knew I would want to go a bit out of the way to see it because how often down a southern girl get to see something this beautiful? It was a challenge to find it with all the one way streets, watching the folks, and driving so that you didn't run through a red light. Somehow we managed to stop at the right spot, walked in the wrong direction, and still get advice from a stranger that we needed to turn around and go several blocks back. Yet, we were almost there by ourselves.
Since it was in October 2016 the weather was perfect to enjoy the stroll around the garden. It's like I lived through the story lines with the books and standing next to each sculpture. What a beautiful sight to enjoy! Unfortunately, we were there when they were repairing the museum where I think you could have read more about Dr Seuss life and how some of his books came about. Words can not express how nice it felt to be so near to each sculpture.
If you have children and have read his books to them, then I know how they would feel so alive with each character. Be ready to take lots of pics, too. This could take anywhere between an hour to 3 hours if you were to read everything and be able to go inside the various buildings. We were probably there about 90 minutes mainly because I went in the gift shop. I hope you can enjoy your visit there, too.

By Jim C |

We stopped to see the statue of an ancestor Deacon Samuel Chapin which is right beside the Dr. Seuss garden. A local passerby pointed out the sculpture garden, otherwise we would have missed it.

The kids had a fun time checking out this display and naming all the fun characters from the books. We didn't stay long as it was beginning to rain. It was an unexpected surprise.

By yang405 |

It's nice to have sculptures of the cat, Dr. Seuss, the Lorax, Horton, etc. It's outdoor and it's free. During the summer, the sculptures can be too hot to touch, so there was temporary ropes put up to prevent people from getting close. The sculptures are on a big lawn with some shade, which is nice! But there are less than 10 sculptures, not much to see.

By Angelheart77 |

Such a lovely park, we loved the benches where you could just sit and enjoy the sculptures. The staff in the gift shop were very helpful and friendly.

By kcrl2002 |

Amazing history in Springfield, Mass. Great resource to our community as well as interactive. Next to the library which is a beautiful place in itself and close to downtown and mass mutual center.

By Ma M |

Never too young or too old! Excellent place to go along or with company! young and old! ( or should I say not so young?) It is a magical place where history and imagination meet each other And who does not know who is the Cat in the Hat?

By hlk2 |

Very nice sculpture garden in honor of Dr. Seuss and his books. There are approximately 4 sculptures to view. We took a nice family photo there. It's free!!

By MidwestKathM |

Unless you have children or a high interest in Dr. Seuss, a visit to this sculpture garden takes just a couple minutes. When I visited, it was roped off, presumably due to COVID, so you couldn't walk through the garden. I'm not a Dr. Seuss fan, but I do appreciate what Theodor Geisel created. The statue of him and the Cat in the Hat was enough for me. I

By Mike C |

Got dragged here to see a bunch of sculptures...if that's your thing go and enjoy. If you're a devout dr Seuss fan then I'm sure you'll enjoy this garden of sculpture

By kcampaiola1995 |

Really cool little park with sculptures from Dr. Seuss and the best part is it’s free! Multiple statues here!

By Nicole C. |

Oh! The places you'll go!

The Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden isn't very big, but it's free to visit! And I had a blast walking through it and finding all the life-sized characters from my favorite Dr. Seuss stories scattered throughout. Of course there was Mr. Theodor Geisel in the middle of it all too!

This made for an absolutely whimsical afternoon, and it's a must-do if you find yourself in Springfield, MA!

By acerone68 |

Cute lil detour to kill 20 mins or so. Sculptures were nice. Courtyard with benches to hang out. We couldn't find the place at first. But it's right next to the museum.

By OnlyDax |

You ought to see it and be it. Thing one and thing two will greet you too. You will enjoy it, you will be thrilled, it will curl your eyes with a quill! Don't miss it, don't pass it by, see it, see it or else you will cry!

By mombisquet |

The Garden is a perfect spot to bring children 12 and under. The sculptures are beautiful and make good photo ops for you and your family. We brought our 6-year-old grandson and 4-year-old granddaughter there after visiting the museum.

By ButterfliesQueen |

How could you not, love this place! We’ve visited many times and have always taken pics to remember! It s a beautiful, well cared for exhibit!

By Heather |

Came here after visiting the museum and it was such a great way to end out visit. The sculptures are very detailed and the area is well kept. Definitely a sight to see if you have some time and are in the area.

By KathyVaillan |

This memorial is around the corner from where Dr. Seuss grew up. It denotes him and some of his characters in greater than life size sculptures. It located right in the middle of the quadrangle, where you have Springfield Public Library, a fine arts museum, a natural history museum, and, of course, the Dr. Seuss museum.

By Rebecca O |

With the recent addition of the Dr. Museum to the Springfield Quadrangle the Sculpture Garden proves to be the perfect entrance into the wild and wonderfully inspiring world of Suess!

By Jaiy D |

Only a couple of sculptures in the park. The photos you see are ALL of the sculptures that are there. We spend about 5 minutes there, good thing it was free. Nice that they do have a tribute to him.

By jscustomer320 |

No parking problem, easy access, great lunch available at the cafe. The park and adjacent museums are fun for all age groups.

By Chris R |

We walked through here quickly and didn't have a chance to spend enough time here to hang out. We will go back next time in town to visit again hunting geochases.

By Abbcb53 |

We came here with our son and 6 year old grandson. It is a unique museum of Dr Suess creativity, stories, art, imagination, ideas and playfulness. The outside sculpture area is also very nice.

By BreeSpree3 |

It takes no more than an hour to see these charming sculptures and learn a bit more about Dr. Seuss. The garden is also surrounded by museums making for a very engaging day in Springfield.

By MRam661 |

We stopped here while visiting Springfield. My 2 daughters loved it and enjoyed posing for pics. They are 13 and 11 now but the love for Dr Seuss will forever remain! You don’t have to visit the museum to visit the sculpture (which is free) so if your time is limited like ours was the stop is perfect!

By mikemo521 |

All the city looks a little run down, this sculpture garden is a must stop for any fan of Dr. Seuss, it is spread out between the buildings of the museums and we had a bonus surprise when we went in Sept, they are dedicating an entire building to Dr. Seuss to be opening in Spring 2017

By Mike W |

This is definitely worth trip to see, they do have a small museum in the works. Dr Seuss is represented well within the Statues.
