Take your time and soak it all in! Currently there is a special display of WWII "nose art". These are the pieces of the bombers where they painted pictures and tallied up kills. Some are a bit risqué and are behind curtains in the "Top Secret" area so young children can't see them! See the beginnings of flight up to today's jets! We will go back because by the time we got to the WWII area we just couldn't stand any longer (4 hours)! We're getting old! Enjoy!

Enjoyed a nice day at the EAA Museum in Oshkosh WI. Took my senior, veteran father and my 15 year old son and friend to visit this museum for the first time. The venue is not huge but nice and very clean. The exhibits are many with videos to watch and some activities for youth. Plan on about 3 hours total for a leisurely stroll through. Very nice / large gift shop for t-shirts etc. Adults were about $12 admission, students about $3 less. EAA members are free.

Although there was a Santa Event that Saturday and I missed two airplanes that were not on display, my visit was very enjoyable . My wife really liked the display of the role of women in WW2.
Great for place or history buff. We plan to join EAA. It was nice that the EAA hosted a Santa Claus/ kids event so if you go during this event GO EARLY or Late in the Afternoon since it waill really be crowded. The best part was that day the admission was FREE !

I visited here while in the area on business.

My expectations were that I wasn't going to be here that long, but there was so much to see and read about I ended up staying most of the day.

There are some fantastic displays etc. and I would encourage you to spend the time reading about each one - I definitely think I had a better visit because of it.

The EAA AirVenture Museum is easily one of the top Air and Space museums in the world, on Par with the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, and the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH. The focus is on homebuilt, experimental airplanes, but the museum also boasts a huge collection of vintage and ex-military aircraft. During the summer the museum literally doubles in size, when the "Pioneer Airport" complex is open to visitors. A grass runway and a group of hangars built to resemble an airport of the 1930s, Pioneer Airport is included in your admission and there is a free shuttle from the main museum to save you from having to walk. There is also an excellent children's area of the museum, with lots of fun, "hands on" activities.

Between the history, all the planes, and my son going on his first plane ride just truly incredible experience

By wintermom9597 |

Interesting place showcasing some of our aeronautical history. Availability to view many planes up close. Some hands on exhibits as well.

By fun4thekids |

what an amazing collection and the quality of the displays are top notch. Excellent for adults and the kids will enjoy it for a bit but my lose interest after an hour or so...but there is always some other event going on so be sure to inquire. we purchased the year museum pass as it will also get you into the much more costly museum of science and industry in Chicago(as well as several others) for free!!!

By Deborah B |

Great museum! Lots of planes on 2 floors of the museum, plus they take you on a tram ride across the airport to several hangers with more planes. You get a lot for the money!

By Mark H |

This is my fifth-rated aviation museum, but don't take that as a negative.

First is National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, second and third are the National Air and Space Museums in Washington D.C. & Dulles Airport, fourth place is the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

During the summer months the place is pretty busy and during the EAA AirVenture week in late July just forgot about it. During the that week Oshkosh is the busiest airport in the world.

It's worth a couple hours of your time. On weekends kids con sometimes get a short plane ride as part of the Young Eagle First Flight program and everyone can ride on 1929 Ford Tri-Motor 4-AT-E for about $75. It's worth it.

We loved the museum! So many great exhibits and artifacts. Very informative. Our kids loved the kidventure room and the simulator.

By cambriacatlady |

This is a really nice display of aircraft. There are interactive displays that are fascinating. There is a large room dedicated to WWII that is very informative. Currently they have WWII nose art displayed in that area as well. There is a shuttle that takes people over to additional hangers with aircraft, and if pilots are available, there are free plane rides for children (Young Eagles Program) or paid flights in vintage planes for adults. This is a wonderful experience!

I’ve been driving past this place for years and have finally stopped in for a visit.
I’m an airplane enthusiast and love looking at wonderful planes

By Attila H |

My son loves to fly, so naturally he wanted to visit this large event. I was surprised at the endless vendors from anything from a single washer to a full size jet... air shows daily and some night ones are truly fantastic! Great process for parking, busing and easy to navigate...

By foolonthehill58 |

I've driven past this place dozens of times on my way to other places but finally made the trek here with my grandsons this past summer. Wow. If you're an Aviation buff or ex Air Force or something like that, this place has to be on your bucket list. Hundreds of planes, hangars, history, and helicopters too, I highly recommend a trip here. They had a replica of the Kitty Hawk, a P-51 Mustang, and dozens of other fantastic pieces. Of course, most know about their annual fly-in which is one of the biggest in the world. (the biggest?) I actually suggest going then but also going at another time when it's not so busy so you can really soak it all in and take your time. Being an Air Force brat, son of a 20 year AF man, it really brought back the memories of my youth on Air Force bases around the world. After your trip into the Wild Blue Yonder, land in Oshkosh and have a look see.

It’s a beauty and a hidden Gem. We were on our way to Doors county and specifically planned to make a stop here. We were very excited with the visit but when we entered it surpassed our expectation. It’s a hidden Gem and a must visit place for all. They have so many different planes to view, WW II bombers, paintings, special area for kids to play. There are props which are great for taking snaps. All in all a great place to spend your quality time.

By Gypsymothker |

Beautiful place. A lot to see and fun interactive exhibits. On a good day you can pay extra for a plane ride (Kids are free for that). The docents are great volunteers.

By Rick-Anne-JC |

Even if you are not an airplane buff this museum is great. There are lots of amazing planes to see. It is very interactive for children and adults. You could easily spend 3-4 hours at a leisurely pace and the time will "fly" by.

By Dorothy L |

Have been aware of EAA for many years and finally got here! Very interesting displays...WASPS, Frank Borman, Huey's, and so much more.
The lady selling tickets and gift shop purchases was helpful, and just all around pleasant.
Thanks for an informative morning!

By Kari S |

We spent a Sunday afternoon here with two 8 year olds and loved it. Plenty of space to social distance, great staff, really interesting museum. I think they did a rock star job here, it's a bit of a hidden gem.

By Deb C |

And my husband was not disappointed. Excellent time to visit without ant crowds. Perhaps only four cars in the parking lot. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

By Berghof |

Very well laid out museum that will keep your interest. When you are done with the main part, go out to the historic hangers via shuttle bus and get even more history. I was travelling with my 14 year old son and they have an unbelievable program for youth to take a free 15 minute plane ride with an instructor off a grass runway. My son loved this and I loved this. They also have two vintage bi-planes you can take for a ride for $95.00. Not only was this a dream come true for me, but for that price, it is unheard of especially taking off from a grass field at such a historic airport. The high light of a 4600 mile road trip for sure!! Staff are fantastic too!!!

By DEBAND56 |

I have been to this museum a few times and although my husband is the aviator I thoroughly enjoyed EAA museum and July 2019 FLY-IN. If you like airshows, fun food, amazing friendly crowd and learning anything and everything about aviation plan to attend a July FLY IN. I had a great time and am not even an aviation enthusiast. The collection of military, private and even commercial planes is attending and everyone is so informative and friendly.

By Mattkur |

We went to the EAA air venture for the first time and plan on coming back every year. The amount of things to see at this museum are incredible.

By pmoeser |

Yes, the museum is very good with many original airplanes and reproductions of aircraft such as the Blériot XI, but I did not travel to Wisconsin to see the Aviation Museum. The EAA hosts Airventure (commonly known as Oshkosh), the world's largest aviation fly-in/event. As a pilot, you need to go to Airventure at least once in your lifetime. You can't see everything in a day or even two or even three. There is something at Airventure for every pilot: airshows, product demonstrations, forums, meetings, you name it. Blocked your end of July schedule now!

By K.P.K. |

If you’re passing by Oshkosh without stopping for a visit to the EAA Aviation Museum, you’re making a big mistake.
The museum holds immaculate exhibitions covering the history of human flight, presenting leading innovative people and airplanes that have driven the evolution of aviation. It also holds a stellar section of military aviation combined with teaching displays and a fun experimental section that brings the kid out of everyone.
Good to know is that active duty military, including families, are let in for free.

By Tina E |

This museum was very clean and well laid out. I learned a lot about aviation just by viewing the exhibits. The children's area is a great for hands on learning. We spent about 1 1/2 hours there and enjoyed all of it.

By Pedro |

Simply amazing - so many planes, helicopters and aviation experts. Definitely worth the trip to Oshkosh and a day of exploring everything that there is to see. Walk among the planes stay for the show and enjoy the crowd. Our favorites are always the military planes - both old and new.

By bjtours |

If you ever stop in Oshkosh, take the time to go through the EAA Museum. You don't have to be a pilot to enjoy this place, it's an appreciation of history in a state of the art building. You won't be sorry, check it out.

By Michelle S |

Family friendly, with lots to see and do! Hands on area for children to explore. So many planes to see and read about from history.

By rsoul18 |

We had a wonderful experience exploring the museum, staff are very nice and helpful. Worth it to pay for the entrance fee when you have so much to see inside it. The aircrafts and other artifacts are well kept, so much history to see and technology to explore. Kids will definitely enjoy, do not forget to visit the zone they have for children. Young adults and adults will also have a blast with all other things this museum has instored for their visitors. Kudos to EAA!

By Mike R |

If you like to spend time inside of a museum looking at all the little details, this is the place. The nose art exhibit running to the end of 2016 is worth the price of admission alone!

By Anita A |

The models were awesome. The place was clean for a museum. The experience was just nice. The staff was eager to tell you about the history of the planes.

By Angela D |

We always have a great time touring the museum! Our children enjoyed the bingo that they offered for Space Day. Don't forget to take the shuttle over to the airport to look around.

By Pedro |

We get here twice a year, once for the EAA show and once to visit the museum. The exhibits are great, the staff is friendly and it is an inspirational visit.

By beerstl |

Great collection of civilian and military aircraft plus experimental and kits on display. Nice collection of WWII nise art. Good kids section. Laid out in a way to timeliness history of flight. Definitely worth a visit.

By Elizabeth R |

I went here for a banquet and wish i had more time to see the museum plus the rest of what the EAA has to offer. This is a precious organization that deserves support; for the museum and the mission.

By AirPedaler |

1st rate aviation museum. Some rare specimens, including a Langley flying model. Many famous aviators present here.

By hansendj2017 |

Great event in a Fantastic atmosphere. All the craft beers you can try is overwhelming. Received as a gift but would never spend $75.00 to do it again. Good food & appetizers.

By Drew F |

The dedication of the organization is apparent in the exhibits and the movies. Their enthusiasm is infectious. This is the next best thing to flying yourself - both thrilling and informative.

By Steve P |

If you are into airplanes and the history of aviation, this is a must see. For the rest of us there are a lot of old airplanes and interesting material about the EAA and the use of planes in times of war.

By Tim_Kern |

A marvelous aviation museum, supported in exhibits by the enthusiastic membership of the Experimental Aircraft Association, many of whom are aviation pioneers, experimenters, champions, and record holders.
Exhibits, both familiar and subtle, will appeal to an aviation enthusiast, beginning pilot, or certified historian.
In one word: marvelous.

By Phillip B |

A great asset to our community many hands on experiences including simulators. Much aviation history here. Ask any pilot if he knows where Oshkosh is and they will know this museum. Fly in is every July and makes Oshkosh the busiest airport in the world! (Airventure)

By lso275 |

Saw as we came into town and wanted to visit.
Great collection of airplanes and history displays. Staff was super friendly and really knew about the museum.
Wish we had more time to visit as we were only there for two hours.
If you are into aviation or aviation history this is a must see.

By BnBzTravelz |

We just spent a couple hours at the EAA Aviation Museum. This place is amazing. Never before have displays captured my interest and held my attention as they do here. Incredible array of aircraft on display. The visual and written information on WWII was our favorite section. Also, aircraft engines on display from the very first flights to modern day. The cost to get in is reasonable and the volunteers are super friendly and helpful. You won’t be disappointed.

By Saundra Segerstrom |

Was really a great museum. Lots of aircraft to see some very unique. I will go to this one again. It was a wonderful time.

By Patricia B |

I had a ride in a 1929 Travel Air bi-plane...15 minutes of excellent exhilerating experience to include steep banks, lazy eight AND a stall...thank you, Ken, for your superb piloting....cost $75...worth every penny

The museum, itself, seems to go on forever so take your time and savor the experience of a well organized venue.

The docents and volunteers were EXTREMELY helpful, polite and enthusiastic.

By BoyMom22 |

The best interactive, inventive, educational museum my family and I have been to. Worth the drive from Chicago to see.

By Garyr S |

Wonderful place to visit, all about planes and history. Fun to visit and the kids thought it was just fun to see.

By Scott B |

Great place to visit! I can't believe this gem of a museum is located in little Oshkosh Wisconsin. Take your kids, there are lots of interactive things for them to do.

By Joebob747 |

this really is a gem. It's not a bunch of old, dusty random stuff. They really take care of the planes. it's been a while since I've been here. Went with the boy scout troop to complete the aviation merit badge.

By Mhiller53 |

If you love aviation history, this is a must see museum. It is full of historical American aviation history that will trill those who love this part of American history.

By U642VMrobertc |

I love aviation. This museum focuses on home built aircraft and experimental aircraft. This museum has some very famous planes of that type. The displays were very professional and some quite unusual. Highly recommend.

By Mark61217 |

My Dad and I have been coming to Oshkosh for almost 30 years for the Airshow. In all that time I can safely say it's easily the best Airshow in the World!!! It's truly spectacular and awe inspiring in every sense of the word. I've seen the Blackbird, Concord, Martin Mars, F-22, Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, 2 Flying B-29's and everything in between!!!! The event is world class and bucket list item for anyone! Put it on your list! You won't be disappointed!!!!

By kxguerr |

We took our 6 year old and 4 year old here over Christmas vacation and they loved it. The museum has a great collection of airplanes to look at and the layout is perfect to be able to walk through all of it and not miss anything. The kids loved looking at the planes but it was really nice that the museum has an interactive section that gives kids of a lot of ages (and adults) even more fun.

By Nati I |

Wonderful place for all ages.
Interesting for all kind of learners.

We visited with very young kids- they love it.

Came back with teenager they were extremely excited as they offer a free flight (20 min) for kids age 8-18 ( one free ride for a child). In the end they got a "pilot certification".

We brought old adults- they loved it.

Next time we will bring our grandson (parent's signature is a must if the child want to flight...)

By Daybreak |

Good place to stop on a road trip of the upper peninsula and learn about aviation history. My husband enjoyed a flight in a 1927 Swallow biplane!

By well_travelled008 |

Impressed with the organization and efficiency of this organization and ability to put on a great event. There is so much to do and see, always something new and to learn. Well worth the trip!

By worldtraveler795 |

My entrance was included with my Oshkosh entrance band. A great place to beat the heat and use a real bathroom. I was pleasantly surprised by the exhibits and the knowledgeable docents. The gift shop is almost as big as the museum Ha! No cafe just a vending machine. Nice way to spend an hour or two. Have a great time!

By jmoor62 |

Visited the museum and the airshow, this is an amazing experience and so well organized. The people working here ( mostly volunteers) were so friendly and helpful which helped make our visit really enjoyable.
If you like vntage aircraft or aviation you must visit this. SUPERB.

By Shane H |

A really well done museum. The exhibits are well laid out. The military aircraft section was my personal favourite. Absolutely worth a visit.

By jorgeaT2790GM |

I've been to many aviation museum here and abroad, this is by far one of the best ones. A must for experimental enthusiast, and well worth the drive for general aviation aficionados. Great collection, and smart layout. It might not have as many aircraft as the bigger museums, but, it has enough to keep you occupied almost a whole day.

By denisel333 |

I am not a plane enthusiast...hubby is. I expected to be bored within 20 minutes of arrival. To my surprise and enjoyment, this museum has interest for all. A blend of reproductions and restored planes plus history of flight from the Wright Brothers to Space travel. Lots of videos if you need to sit for 10 minutes. And you may need to. 2 levels plus outdoor hangers you can be shuttled over to. Even a kids section for all ages including the 56 year old kid I am married to! We lucked out on visiting when the war plane art exhibit was on. Two hours later we did see it all. To some the price MIGHT seem high ( $25 for both of us) but it is very very worth it.

By Melissa F |

This was our 2nd time at the museum. Our kids, ages 9 and 10, had a great time. There was lots to see for the adults as well. We lucked out and went on a day where they were giving free plane rides for kids 8 to 17. Both kids loved it. The pilot and others helping were all volunteers! It was a great experience and the volunteers were wonderful.

In looking for things to do in Wisconsin, I stumbled across the EAA Aviation Museum advertising their WWII Nose Art Display. That was just too good to pass up! We went and the museum was amazing! I loved all of it, but I especially loved the nose art. I photographed each one and the information sign about it - because how could I choose one over another? It took a little to find the risque nose art room but we did and it was very cool.

Previously, we knew nothing about EAA - not being into aviation, it hadn't been something we'd encountered up to then. The EAA museum was nicely designed and enjoyable for a non-aviation person like me. I can only imagine that aviation buffs are in shear heaven when they visit this place. : )

Like often in our across the country travels, we stumble across very interesting places, but usually pull in just an hour before they close. This happened here - and I certainly would have liked more time in this museum. I am sure we'll revisit it on another trip - I will be sad that the nose art is only a temporary display!

By Sightseer_Sam |

We specifically planned to stop in Osh Kosh for the night so that we could visit this museum (we were on our way to Mackinaw City for our family trip) and I'm so glad we did! Our whole family, including our 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old, loved it! There's so much to see and do here that you could easily spend the whole day. We stopped in first thing in the morning and didn't plan on staying long (we expected the kids to be bored), but we all had so much fun that we stayed much longer than expected and only ended up leaving because the kids were exhausted/we needed to drive a few hours away the same day. Not only are there tons of unique aircraft to see, but the kid's area was top notch for keeping the kids engaged. There's even a control tower exhibit where we could watch planes and helicopters take off from the nearby hangars. They offer free shuttles to the hangars too to check those out, but we didn't get the chance to do that during our visit. We plan on coming to the AirVenture Air Show once the kids are are little older and we'll absolutely stop by the museum again too!

By Belashmoo |

My husband and I love this type of museum. Very interesting and well done. Only regret is that we didn't have time to look beyond the main museum building. We'll have to go back for another visit to do the whole museum.

By motherearth2278 |

Wonderful collection of airplanes old and new. EAA Bi plane, Variez, Verivaggen, just to mention a few. Lots of history displays. WE saw Dick Rutan talk about his flight around the world. Well worth your time to visit this museum. WE were there during EAA Air Venture show this year.

By ralph099 |

The EAA museum is wonderful any time of year. But it especially shines the last week in July when tens of thousands of airplanes and hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world arrive to celebrate aviation at the EAA Airventure air show. The museum has historic aircraft on display and you can take a flight in a 1927 Ford Trimotor from the grass airstrip adjacent to the museum. My favorite display at the museum: a scale model of an aircraft carrier complete with hundreds of seaman conducting flight operations (look for one of the seaman vomiting over the side of the ship).

By MIKE D |

This museum changes all the time. Perfectly restored aircraft of all type. Voyager the first plane that flew around the world non stop with out refueling is there. Has small theatre that shows our past.

By Dennis S |

You really don't need to be into planes to enjoy a walk through. A nice selection a planes and aviation artifacts provide a nice sense of aviation history. The current "nose art" display was pretty fascinating and enjoyable. The gift shop has a good selection of books and other items.

By JLane1031 |

We were blown away by this visit to the EAA museum. We live in DC and frequently visit the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, so our standards are very high. Upon arriving, we were directed to the airfield for our 10 year old to take a FREE flight in a dual cockpit plane as part of the Early Fliers club. Free! For 25 minutes, our son soared above us, and even got to steer the craft. The very seasoned and kind pilot was patient with our inquisitive and talkative son. Then, our kids were wowed by the KidsVenture area. It was high tech and High touch. So much more interactive than the Smithsonian. Thank you!!!

By ROBERT M |

Went with Daughter and to grand daughters (4 and 2). the displays are terrific. lots of fun things for the kids to get in and bang around in.
I was a engine mech in the Navy and was blown away to find one of my R3350's on display. Many hours with my head stuck in them.
I could have spent the whole day there and more.
Anyone that like planes or history will love the museum.

By kimbutz |

As an airplane lover this is a must! The museum has so much to discover. Vintage aviation, history, space travel past and future, plus MORE.

By kbcanberra |

I visited the museum during the EAA airshow and was more than surprised at the very high quality of the exhibits and how they were displayed. I had only intended a quick walk through but stayed for several hours. This is well worth a visit for anyone with an interest in aviation. Entry is free to EAA members (and apparently airshow attendees).
Unfortunately some of the hands on exhibits weren't working properly and the back hangar was closed during the airshow period for EAA functions. I would also note that this is the first time I have had to queue to get into a mens' toilet at a museum. With a facility of that size the bathrooms were inadequate - only one toilet and one urinal.

By Joe H |

Museum is well organized and clean. The amount of aviation history is amazing. The planes hung in the different areas really make the place unique for midwestern USA.

By Phil B |

They can run and work off their entergy. Even the adults will enjoy the various displays. A great rainy day event for the family.

By mikes737 |

Their collection spans the history of aviation and includes a wide variety of aircraft. Their collections starts at the Wright flyer and other early aircraft. They have various experimental aircraft including production models like Vans and Lancair as well as individual specialty models. They have an area dedicated to Dick and Burt Rutan and their various designs. They also have two areas dedicated to military ward birds. They even have a model of SpaceShipOne.

By Ken_Dwight |

Anyone with more than a passing interest in aviation can spend a fascinating day in this modern museum. With an emphasis on homebuilt airplanes, it pays tribute to most of the significant designers and builders since the early days of aviation.

Much of the museum is devoted to aviation history, from the Wright Brothers and Glenn Curtiss, through WW I and the barnstorming era, and Charles Lindbergh's epic flight from New York to Paris. That exhibit includes a full-scale, flying replica of the famous Ryan NYP airplane flown by Lindbergh.

The Eagle Hangar is devoted to the airplanes and pilots of WW II and includes a number of rare and beautifully-restored airplanes from that conflict. Here again, history is the focus of this collection, and many of the pivotal battles are extensively documented.

A section of the Museum is a showcase for Burt Rutan and some of his designs, ranging from the Vari-Viggen to SpaceShip One, the first privately-built aircraft to fly into space. Another especially impressive exhibit in this area is the Rutan-designed Voyager, which flew around the world nonstop, without refueling.

The Museum also includes exhibits of air racing, record holders, and other celebrities in aviation. Whatever your aviation interest, there is something fascinating for you to see here!

Plan to spend at least a few hours here, and you can easily spend a full day if you read the plaques and associated materials with the various displays. It's not on the scale of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, but it is a mature Museum with something for everybody.

By Krista K |

We attended the September Swing Hangar Dance held at the museum and were very impressed with the space for the event. The planes and memorabilia were a great theme. The room was large enough for the 19-piece band on a stage, seating and large dance floor. Acoustics were great.

By Garden guy |

If you are into avaiation this is a must see. The exhibits are excellent with very helpful sinage. The staff was excellent and very helpful.

By dumi72 |

The EAA aviation museum has an incredible collection of static and flying airplanes, located at the EAA HQ in Oshkosh, WI is a great place to spend a day with friends or family.
It gets crowded during the last week of July for Airventure, but if you can go during this week, Airventure is the most incredible fly inn and airshow in the world !!!!!
The collection includes everything from the Wright flyer to the Space Ship One.

By Calbama |

This was a great stop
Only complaint is there shut the hangers early for winter so you can only walk around inside so thy stinks other then that tons of hands on stuff for kids and all ages that was awesome . Huge gift shop which was neat .

By N Y |

This was our first experience with EAA. We only went for one day. I was unsure about how we would be received as we represented two marginalized groups, African-Americans and women. All of the vendors we went to were super helpful and informative. Thank you to EAA and the vendors.
In the future, it would be helpful to have more ground signage for buildings. It was hard to navigate even with the map. If it had not been for two guys who saw that we were lost and gave us a ride on their golf cart, we would not have made it to the other side of the grounds for our scheduled forum.

By PattySlots |

Sister, niece, and I travelled to Oshkosh to go to the EAA Aviation Museum. Our father was a WWII hero, serving his country in the Arm Air Force. He completed 40 missions, flying B17s. We stayed over 3 hours and could have stayed longer, focusing on all the WWII displays, nose art, etc.. We learned so much about the war, where he was in the South Pacific, and what he did. Our father was a commercial artist by trade, already an artist when he was drafted. We have pictures of the his planes and the nose art that he drew on each one. We so hoped we would find one of his planes (we did not). It was such an informational, yet emotional experience. Thank you to our military, past and present, who serve our country so readily, and who may die on our behalf to keep us safe. We honor you!

By Joyce |

Was here for a car show in August. Loved it the grounds were the perfect setting for the car show and being able to go in the hangers was great. Show will be here again next August can't wait! !

By waller1234 |

We went during the Osh Kosh airshow. Highly recommended to see the museum a different day than the airshow. There is so much to see it could take you all day.

By Fred Q |

This year was my 6th trip. It starts on Sunday and goes through Saturday. There typically is 500,000 visitors this week and 14,000 aircraft WWI reproductions many WWII aircraft probaby 15 P-51, 5 P-40, 7 Coursairs, There are many differet forms to learn how to build your own aircraft, FAA regulations, almost any topic you can think of about general aviation. There are 1 - 2 airshows a day including night shows. Most companies that build planes, equipment for planes and all sorts of other merchandise. I say in the dorms at U of W Oshkosh. There is good food and a buss to the airfair about every 15 minutes. I was there 8 hours and 7 miles of walking each day. This has to be the biggest best airfair in the worls.

By Bob_B_NewLenox_IL |

Wow... had no idea there were so many exhibits. This is truly a hidden gem.... a lot of people know about EAA, but I don't think most people know how diverse the EAA Museum is? We will definitely return!

By Moonlight |

if you are an aviation enthusiast you must visit this museum and Eaa airshow at least once in your life

By Barbara M |

Don't miss this part of Oshkosh! If you ever dreamed of flying or space travel this is a must see for young,, old and everything in between. My only flaw was I did not have enough time to see it all up close. I would take two days to see it properly in my opinion. I like to read everything and so it takes time. So well done, So well preserved in its celebration of flight and how that changed the world. A MUST SEE :)

By Betty |

Lots to see and learn in the museum. Great place to come for a family trip and especially if you can time it with the air show. It gets very busy but there are plenty of activities to do.

By JohnGunther |

If you love anything to deal with aviation this is the place for you. All ages will have a Great time there.

By Mark J |

The museum has not of airplanes on display form all dates of aviation. EAA is organization of aviation buffs and have done a fantastic job of organizing and displaying the history

Even if you're not very interested in planes and flight, you will still find lots to do at this museum. Lots of interactive displays for kids. Almost too much to see.

By Phil |

This is definitely a must see for all aviation buffs, and the not so aviation buffs :). Kids of all ages will enjoy. Many things for adults as well. I went with a group and we had a tour guide then he let us do on our own for as long as we wanted. I don't know if everyone gets a tour guide with price of admission. Some truly amazing stuff.

From the displays along Highway 41, I thought this was a military flight museum. I was wrong! This is a museum run by the Experimental Aircraft Association and it is absolutely fascinating!! We went with my son, two grandsons (5 and 9) and a granddaughter in her twos. The entry fee maxes out at $31.00 for a family.

The highlight was my 9 year old grandson getting a free ride in an airplane. He could not stop smiling for hours afterward. See their website for details of free and other rides. We went on Saturday April 30 2016 and it was the first day of free rides for this year and there was no line.

We ended up in the KidVenture Gallery. It is intended for Kids, but we were all fascinated enough to remain there for over an hour.

There is a display of the Carnaúba Airplane that took H.F. Johnson Jr. (of the S. C. Johnson Company) on his historic adventure to Fortaleza, in Northeastern Brazil in 1935. I could have spent a couple of hours focused on this. The rest of our group were busy exploring the experimental aircraft and other displays while I stood studying my interests.

There is something for everyone here. Around mid afternoon we heard an announcement that a shuttle was leaving for Pioneer Airport across the runway. It was there my grandson had his free flight and we were able to enjoy more aircraft displays and even a few old Fords (a 1930 Model A and an old Model T).

If it is at all cool outside, bring something warm. I froze!

A camera or smart phone is a must and if anyone is going to have a flight, make sure you can videotape it. My grandson did a low fly over as part of his free flight.

This can be a short visit, but you really need to spend a few hours here to get your money's worth and our young children were actively enjoying it for over 4 hours.

The EAA is full of cool planes and stories to go with them. Airventure is more fun than you can imagine. The crowds are always great and the grounds are clean. Can't beat Airventure for good family fun in Oshkosh.

By jaimeelsabio |

The Smithsonian Air & Space museum it isn't, but a very nice museum. I didn't know what to expect upon entering and was pleasantly surprised. While all the exhibits were nice, I most enjoyed the military aircraft and nose art. I also like the C47 as that's the type aircraft flown by my father in WWII.

By LiveAsATraveler |

Aviation history is well covered and on par with the best Smithsonian museum. But it's their hands-on that really draws the young and old into aviation. Flight simulators and hands on science is enough to many anyone want to take the air. And during the summer, they offer Young Eagles Flights (under 16 and they fly with an instructor for free!) from the old airport hangers across the grass runway. It's A LOT of entertainment and education for the price of admission, very well worth it.

Da sind Luftfahrt Museen aller Art in der Welt aber nur Eines wie dasjenige von EAA.
Thanks to Paul and Tom and many dedicated Board Members since 1971 when EAA moved to Oshkosh for their foresight and work in establishing such a Grand Facility for the EAA Members! Thanks to all of you.

By Greg M |

Even if you only have a passing interest in aviation this is a worthwhile museum. Lots of interactive exhibits and interesting aircraft on display. Like everything with EAA it costs about 2X what it should but still a must see.

By Pete C |

You cannot pass Oshkosh without a stop at the EAA facilities, like aviation or not, a must see. One of the best Museums i've seen including the DC Air and Space.

By Jerry S |

I have been to a lot of Aviation museums across the US. This is a great one in WI to come and visit due the EAA Airshow. The museum as a lot of great exhibits and is a must go to.

By Linda_R1801 |

The EAA Museum is a very interesting way to spend an afternoon. There are lots of planes, lots of plane art and history. There is an interactive play area for children with flight simulators. Very educational, but also enjoyable.

By Regiongirl |

We toured the museum, and just love the historical aspect of aviation, and were lucky enough to see the "nose art" display from WW 2 planes.

By Nick Schwartz |

Incredible collection of aircraft and exhibits. Definitely a must see if you're in Oshkosh. Had a great time and really want to return.

By Bobby |

We spent the day here. Over 6 hours and we didn't have enough time.

This place is amazing. If you love airplanes and history, this is the best place for you.

I have been to Air Museums all over the country and this by far is the best I have ever seen.

If you are in Oshkosh, you don't want to miss this place.

I WILL come back again.

By Karen C |

I was not sure I would enjoy this museum not being a big aviation fan. I sure was surprised. Great information and well displayed. The different periods of aviation displays were amazing. Great gift shop also. I was in town for a family reunion and stopped by while others were at the outlet mall across the Hi way. We also took the tram to the hanger area.
Just a few items that may need attention for other visitors. Not all of the displays were working that we wanted to check out. The push button displays etc. Also we had never been out to the hangers and were not sure about the shuttle service. We saw a van sitting there and were not sure if that was our ride or the tram behind the tractors we saw. We eventually watched this van leave and go to the area. We grabbed the next one. The driver did not announce anything before or during our trip.
I would definitely return. Thanks.

My wife wanted to visit this museum although I am the family aircraft nut. I wasn't really looking forward to it as I expected to see a large number of privately built small aircraft. Was I ever surprised. They have plenty of antiques, a large section devoted to World War II and more. There is even a children's section where they could be kept busy for hours. There was a special exhibit of actual World War II nose art. Sections of the aircraft skin with the art had been removed from B-17 and B-24 bombers and put on display. I believe this exhibit travels from museum to museum, but I do not know when it will leave Oshkosh.

Finally, prices are reasonable for such a large museum. We were there about 3 1/2 hours, but one easily could stay longer. Just one problem... Not even one mention or photo in the WWII section of the Tuskegee airmen. Even the smallest of collections elsewhere have a photo or two.

By Thomas M |

From humble beginnings, the EAA Museum and companion summer event AIRVENTURE are the true home base for the aviation world. Kitty Hawk is well represented both in the museum (the Wright Flyer) and at the Brown Arch entrance for the Air Venture grounds.

If you have ANY interest in the history of flight or the future of flight, spend (invest) your time at the EAA museum.. The facility is state of the art and you can look back, or look FORWARD. I strongly encourage you to JOIN EAA and make this relationship a FOREVER partnership. I did.

By Debbie D |

This is a great museum for someone who enjoys airplanes and their history. We spent 3 hours and enjoyed every minute. I think it’s a one time visit but glad we went. Good price.

By Travis L |

Went to a wedding here a couple months ago, and it proved to be a very neat and unique wedding venue. We had some time in between events so we were able to check out the exhibits. Very neat and interesting place. I'd like to go again!

By Legalgrl09 |

Truly a Midwest hidden gem and a must see! My 10yr. old who is obsessed with WWII could have spent days here if we let him. To say he was in heaven was an understatement! Very well laid out museum with TONS of awesome planes and aviation information to see. He loved the hands on kid area as well where he could fly a plane simulator and sit in a cock pit. They looked like they were adding on to which we can’t wait to see what else they bring in.

By John P |

We took the family for the day and it was great. There were things for the kids to do and things that were intresting for adults.Prices reasonable...plenty for the family to enjoy

By Mica_10 |

We've been to the museum at Airventure and during other times of the year. Great interactive children's area. Nice exhibits and enjoy the speakers that come during EAA Airventure. If you like or love aviation, you should see the museum.

By Trevor L |

If you have any interest in the history of aviation and are near Oshkosh Wisconsin, you need to stop here (conveniently immediately off Interstate 41.)

More than 200 planes are on display, from 1912 models to more current planes. I always enjoy studying the World War II planes (I built models of most of those when I was a child.)

Plan on spending 3+ hours here. Take your time. Read and learn. You won't be disappointed.

Try the full motion flight simulator!

It has free public wifi and is wheelchair accessible.

By ReadRibbet |

Those with and interest in aviation will know about the EAA Museum in Oshkosh. I am often asked about it when others learn I am from Oshkosh. We take all out of town guests there and everyone has enjoyed the displays. Some interactive sections for younger museum goers but the historical displays, replicas, and special exhibits will interest most adults. Plan on spending some time -- it is much bigger than it looks.

By SizzlingSkies |

We had a great time here with our 3 young children (3, 2, and 8 months). We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of things there were for the kids to do. Also, the museum was very clean!

By Michael F |

Special dinner for 200, tenderloin was excellent, all the food was excellent, the room is huge with great audio and computer display

By Allen P |

A must if you have any interest in aviation. Easy access off 41. Excellent lodging and dining choices nearby. Best not to go during last week of July. EAA convention time there.

By Ben K |

This is a great museum for all ages. We have five kids that are Young Eagles and they loved visiting the EAA Aviation Museum. We traveled and arrived at an off time for them because we had the place to ourselves and the kids loved all the interactive exhibits. The loved getting into the aircraft trainers and flying the simulators. We highly recommend the EAA Aviation Museum if you are within an hour or two drive. We drove out of our way on our trip just to stop by and it was worth going out of our way.

By Michael D |

We really love coming to the museum because of the aviation history and the hopes of the kids getting in the simulator or the Young Eagles flights outside. But we really like making the visit a treasure hunt of sorts with all the displays! Can you find an original GeeBee wing to where is the seasick sailor (yes, there IS one).

It's a nice museum that helps talk about local aviation history as well as international highlights.

By bill n |

This is one of the best air museums in the country. The layout is very easy to navigate. They break it into experimental, space, fighter, and barnstorming/aerobatics. There is a bit of walking involved, but you hardly notice because you are too busy being amazed.
Check their schedules because you can tour their work hangar, but if you get there too late, like I did, you will miss it.
Once a year they have their Fly In. This is a world class event with planes flying in from all over the world to take part in all aspects of aviation

By Wisconsintown |

Went there during the annual EAA Airventure and was really impressed with the size. they were having an event in the Eagle part of the museum but while I was there was still able to see what was there. A replica of Space Ship one as well as the Wright Flyer so it covers aviation quite well. They have many special evens throughout the year. Also there is a young eagles area for youth to get hand on as well. Great place to spend an afternoon

By FMRonin |

EAA aviation museum is a local must do. It's a great rainy day family activity. There are some good times to be had wandering through the exhibits with the Fam. There are interactive activities and selfie locations as well.

By DrSandyD |

Took time to visit the EAA Museum during Airventure. Really nice displays and artifacts. Kid area has interactive exhibits. Flight simulator also. Nice gift shop. A must see for an aviation enthusiast.

By Kitman |

I've been to numerous aviation museums over my lifetime. This one stands highest amongst them all! I'm sure the Smithsonian is bigger and better, but I haven't been there yet.

I visited during the 2019 Airventure fly-in. There is so much to see. Bring your reading glasses to get the background on displays. From the early days of aviation to the space age, they have that and lots in between. Nice, clean, and air conditioned facility...and very modern!

Most aviation museums I've been to have outside displays. There were only a few here. My friend said they may have relocated some because of the fly-in. Regardless, there is plenty to see. If you stopped and read every display and watched every video you'd easily be here all day! If you love aviation and are nearby, this is one of those must stop locations!

By Ridinhd |

Greatly enjoyed reading and learning about the nose art exhibit currently on display. Museum has lots to offer and see. Interactive exhibits for the kids too!

By Leonard K |

First of all, my friends and I are regular visitors to this part of Wisconsin from our homes in Chicago, so we've visited this museum several times...and it's always wonderful.
Even if you're not a flight enthusiast, you'll still find the museum fascinating. Between history, science and engineering, trivia...and art (they've currently got an exhibit on "Nose Art"...the paintings that the flight crews added to their planes during WWII (some of which are for more mature audiences...). And even if you're not a kid, make sure to visit the "Kid-friendly" rooms...there are very fun and enlightening interactive exhibits there, too.
Enjoy!

We decided to drive from Green Bay to Oshkosh to visit the EAA Museum (finally) after the weather turned ugly and we had to cancel outdoof plans. I'd been wanting to this anyway, for decades actually! We had no idea the annual Fly-In was underway the same week. We thought we'd just pull into the museum parking lot and spend a few hours checking it out.

As fate would have it, we were one of thousands of cars parked for blocks around the museum. We had to walk through a field and some mucky terrain to even reach the paved road, but several traffic police were ensuring that pedestrians could safely maneuver from the remote parking lots to the main lot.

The museum was far busier with visitors than normal, but most people were buying tickets at one counter specifically for Fly-In admissions. The museum admission counter wasn't nearly as busy.

I was pleased with the bargain price of admission - $12.50 for adults and $10.50 for seniors. You can wander the museum all day for that price and, if you're at all interested in aviation, it might take you an entire day to see the exhibits on all three floors. I believe the fee for attending the fly-In was $43 for one day, including admission to the museum.

Some exhibits were just fascinating. I never knew that Johnny Carson (the late night TV host) also trained to be a stunt pilot. You can watch actual video of him in a stunt plane. A display case contains his flight log, his training manual, and his briefcase.

The museum had a temporary display regarding the origins and history of "nose art" which I found very interesting, enough so to allocate quite a bit of time there. Nose art is slogans and art painted near the nose of a plane.

Hundreds of aircraft and their individual stories are on display, hanging from the walls and the ceilings. You can't miss Orville and Wilbur Wright's magnificent flying machine when you first enter the atrium.

The Voyager display contains astonishing artifacts and video from the first NON-STOP flight around the entire planet in December 1986. Being a 35-year subscriber to Shaklee vitamins, I was astonished to learn that Shaklee products sustained the Voyager's 2-man crew during their nine days in the air.

Some of the display cases contained miscellaneous aviation trivia, like an actual invitation to the Apollo 16 launch in April 1972, along with launch passes and tour passes.

A Silver Wings pin awarded by the president of United Airlines to a Junior "Stewardess" is on display, reminiscent of airline protocol of hiring only females to tend to passengers prior to the current era of unisex flight attendants. It reminded me of a book I read 50 years ago - "Silver Wings For Vicki" - a story for girls about an exciting career as a stewardess.

Inside the museum is a fighter plane "ride" which allows laymen to experience piloting a fighter jet. I believe it was an additional $6 for the ride, but the waiting list was more than an hour when we arrived, so we nixed that idea.

As an American Airlines preferred flier, one of my favorite displays was a very old American Airways mail express plane, a 1927 Fairchild with an engine manufactured by Wright Aircraft Engines. Floats were later added to this model plane so they could land on water, and the planes became very popular as "bush" planes, used in remote areas of Canada and Alaska where there's no highway infrastructure.

There is a small gift shop at the museum entrance, but there's no food. The day we were there, a small booth was set up behind the museum where hamburgers and hot dogs were being sold, but that was only because the Fly-In was in progress. Though we didn't buy tickets for that event, we were able to buy food and see several experimental aircraft on display in back of the museum, and we did sew a few craft arriving for the show.

To really absorb all that this museum has to offer, do allow a full day. And be aware that the museum closes at 5:00 pm. Don't miss this aviation masterpiece if you're passing through Oshkosh.

By pasherry |

Museum is free if you are an EAA member otherwise it is $12 per adult. There is a great display of planes, historic, experimental, acrobatic. Watch the film about the airshow and go to the kid venture area for interactive fun. A great way to introduce you to the famous airshow. And the gift store is great.

By Malcolm |

A museum that you have to spend long hours in with every fhong you can think on aviation. The museum is on the suberbun of oshkosh. Dont miss it.

By Marian C |

We were staying in Koehler, WI and thought this would be a fun day trip with our 12-year old twins. Little did we know when we got to the museum that they offered free flights to children (I believe between the ages of 7-17) with a certified instructor (the instructor reminded me of Captain Sully) for about 15 minutes. My twins loved it. They told everyone at school that it was the highlight of their summer. The museum is excellent and an absolute visit for anyone within an hour drive, especially aviation enthusiasts,

By Herv M |

Being a former Army aviator (fixed and rotary wing) I enjoyed many of the exhibits. I've been to many aviation museums over the years. Those I enjoyed the most held a personal connection for me. This one wasn't one of those. It was great for what it is, but I wasn't enthralled with very much here.

By William C |

We are members of the EAA so we get into the museum for free. This weekend adventure was a display on nose art painted on the noses of various air planes from bygone era. It was very interesting. Many aircraft from various decades in aviation history.

By wausaujim |

The EAA museum is a fantastic museum. It's on par with Boeing flight museum in Seattle and the National Air and Space museum in D.C..
There is a working display of Space ship One, wonderful displays of experimental aircraft and many interactive games and diaramas depicting the science of flight and the history of aviation. The military wing shows the impact of aircraft throughout history and has authentic WW 2 nose art, vehicles and really cool mock ups.
It is a treasure to find such a museum in Wisconsin. It's fun rot the whole family! Enjoy it sometime.

We've been taking our daughter (now 15) to EAA Aviation Museum for several years. Since she was 8 she had been enjoying a Young Eagles flight each time we visited. The volunteer pilots were very gracious and encouraging to her and she had been so thrilled she is preparing to take flight lessons to earn pilots license. Until recently our visits were very enjoyable.

Things changed last year after we purchased a family membership to EAA as we intended to visit more often. All was well until our second visit of 2017 when Don Maki, who runs Pioneer Airport denied our daughter a Young Eagles flight insisting that kids are only allowed one flight per year. When we asked the volunteer pilots and the staff at the museum's front desk none were aware of this policy. Due to the circumstances EAA graciously refunded our membership fee and said they would speak with Maki.

We currently have an exchange student, Camille, from France staying with us and our daughter had her heart set on taking her to EAA so she could experience a Young Eagles flight. We were told last year that if we brought another child along they could fly as long as we had a release form signed by their parent. So we emailed a blank form to Camille's parents in France. They printed it out, completed and signed it, and Camille brought the completed and signed form with her. We were sure we had all i's dotted and t's crossed this time.

Well as soon as we walked into Pioneer on Saturday July 7 2018 Mr. Maki literally said "oh you're the people that gave me trouble last year." I explained it was my daughter's only visit this year and we had the signed release for Camille. He refused to let Camille fly claiming the form was not an original (she printed out the blank copy at home). I pointed out that the written information including her parent's signature was original and in pen (not a copy). Maki didn't care and wouldn't even look at it. Still stinging from last year's experience my daughter burst into tears. I pleaded with Mr. Maki to please be reasonable and let the girls both fly but he sternly said "I follow the law" and still refused. With my daughter still visibly upset I pleaded with him again to be reasonable but he refused to discuss it any further and threatened to call security if I didn't leave. Great way to treat guests, Don.

To EAA Museum Leadership: I realize from our prior discussions that Pioneer Airport and the Young Eagles program there are not technically part of your museum. But they are part of the overall experience and Mr. Maki's actions and poor attitude are a major blemish on what is otherwise an outstanding facility. I would implore you to do what you can to get someone else in charge at Pioneer. Maki seems too concerned with power and finding reasons to turn people away. EAA should want to encourage young people to get into the hobby and be enthused about flying, not send them away in tears.

We were recently in the Green Bay area, and decided to stop by the EAA air museum. We have been there in the past, only during the very busy EAA annual summer fly-ins. The off-season is a pleasant surprise, as there are no crowds and you can get up much closer to the static exhibits of the various museum buildings!

We enjoyed all the exhibits and even took the complimentary tram over to the Pioneer Airport with the vintage hangars and airplanes. So much to see, but we were able to see most of the exhibits in 4 hours. I would allow more time if you have it and want to spend more time at each area.

We look forward to our next visit!

World-class aviation museum next to the famous annual EAA Airventure fly-in site (KOSH). Wide variety of vintage and recent aircraft, both civilian and military, from the Wright Flyer to a grouping of Cold-War MIGs and F86. Many rare and unique aircraft including the sole remaining XP51 Mustang prototype, the Bugatti racer, and more. Two large exhibit halls, plus seasonal Pioneer Airport with 5 hangars full of pre-WWII aircraft, including an active grass runway offering Young Eagle flights for kids. Museum rotates aircraft on display. Extensive aviation-themed gift shop, and two theaters offering movies about EAA and its annual fly-in. Limited vending area, but many restaurants nearby. Easy access to I-41 and city of Oshkosh.

I have driven past this place maybe 15 times. This time we stopped, on purpose. Planned on a whole day. Spent a whole day. Could have stayed longer.
Excellent.
Some stuff was predictable some was very surprising. Learned quite a bit.
We will be stopping in again.

By Linn77 |

This is an amazing place to discover aviation history. During EAA, you can meet pilots from all over the world.

By Mfran52016 |

Some good bargains. The jean store had a big selection and at very good prices. Picked up a pair for $ 9.99.

By Bruce J |

I only stopped for a couple of hours, but will certainly return when more time is allowed ( a day). It is an amazing place full of airplanes, space travel and aviation history ! Great for all ages with lots to see and listen to. Make a day of it, especially if you have family.

By Adam W |

We came here in March and one of the sections was closed as it shuts down over the winter.

So will be most happy to plan a return visit one summer.

It's a very interesting museum with plenty to see and hands on bits for kids which adults can try as well. It was quiet when we went so that was great.

Lots a planes and helicopters to see which plenty to read should you wish to do so.

Thoroughly enjoyable.

By sam101983 |

So much for all ages and levels of aviation interest. We are EAA members so it was free to get in, however gladly would have paid an admission to get in. There was so much to see and read about. Layout of the building was easy to navigate. Overall my family had a great time.

By Companion301617 |

Lots of history and info, even for our teens. It was worth the stop!! We have been to the air show several times but should have included this in our visit previously.

By STEVEN D |

Was attending Redbird Migration 2017 and this was the first time visiting the museum. It was the best conference I’ve attended in a long time. A total aviation immersion! The real treat was viewing the aviation nose art on loan from the Commerative Air Force. This is a great place to take family and learn about the aviation history of our nation and other countries as well. Recommend taking a whole day to view the place, as the museum collection is extensive.

By m s |

The Museum is beautiful and pristine. The Museum grounds are extensive, well maintained and also beautiful including the ponds and bridges and walk paths. However, nothing, anywhere, compares with the week of airshows at the end of July. For those interested in aviation, it is a religious experience and celebration of flying.

By sara1213 |

Took the grandsons, 14 and 10. While the oldest one isn't really in to planes, he had a great time. The 10 year old, who LOVES planes and WW2, was in heaven. Lots of great displays and interactive fun. While they didn't get to do the actual plane ride, it was well worth the drive to Oshkosh.

By J N |

This is a scam. They make millions of dollars, and have hundreds of volunteers and won't pay for your work.
All you are doing is supporting their life style and planes.

Very few planes fly. They charge $25 a day to park, and $65 to get in so you can walk and see aviation vendors selling stuff.

The non-aviation vendors sell garbage, like at a state fair.

Only local mod-west people go because they have nothong better to do.

By Tina L |

The planes were amazing. Wonderful feature on women in aviation and space industries and their contributions. There is a gift shop also - usual stuff for kids and adults - cups, patches, t shirts hats knockoff lego sets stuffies, etc. Took a shuttle to Pioneer Airport (must go and it’s included in the admission) and kids got a plane ride compliments of Young Eagles. They loved it, the 14 year old boy was smiling when he got off the plane. They got their certificates and log books for future flights. This place has everything from the Wright brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Apollo Mission, the Challenger, to modern planes and spacecraft. There is a kids section (a F-22 flight stimulator, hands on exhibits to see how gravity, friction and sonar work. TripAdvisor won’t let me post my 50 some pics from EAA, so I’ll post the 10 I’m allowed and you’ll just have to go.

By Sun_Sand_Beach15 |

This museum had so much to offer - history of aircrafts, space history, really cool artifacts and even a scavenger hunt for the kids. The staff could not have been nicer. We would go back as there was so much to see, it was hard to take it all in.

By Localgirl252 |

SO much to see!! Anyone who thinks this museum is a quick walk through, think again. The downfall is there is only a vending machine to take a snack break at. Even if you are not really into aviation, you will be caught up in the beauty of the displayed historical, stunt, racing, experimental and home built planes. Informative display of Space Ship One. Eagle hanger has nose art from WWll. Take the tram out to Pioneer hangers. Here you can take a bi-plane ride over the area. So much fun! Children 8-17 can get a free plane ride sponsored by the Young Eagles program.

If you ever get a chance to visit please consider doing it during the busiest time during the air shows in July. It’s the best entertainment

By sabariprasad |

It's an awesome place to visit. People expecting a day trip from Chicago on a weekend should definitely visit here. I just needed a place to visit for couple of hours before heading to my another trip. But this place made me change my plans and stay for another hour.

Lots and Lots of collection of planes with their history, Live video from NASA, Some cool science experiments for kids & Adults, Plane ride ($75), Flight Simulators for kids...It's just mesmerizing. So clean and very well maintained.

There's a place for adults only, coz of the displays. There's a warning sign put up before going ahead.

There are hangars outside the museum as well. Catch the shuttle outside the museum and visit the hangars. Do not miss it. There's plenty of history to it. I read a story on one display about how a farmer designed a plane engine from wooden moulds. Amazing isn't it...

It will take you a whole day to promptly read all the history, amaze at it, take pictures. You can skip a few and do it in half a days as well...

By OnTheRoadAgain1056 |

I only have a mild interest in planes and aviation but I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. Lots to do and see. I now drive by other aviation museums without stopping because I know they won't compare to this one. Very interesting.

By BigAlNorthampton |

Great place for small aircraft viewing including views of working airfield. Good gift shop and in particular good children exhibition with plenty of hands on displays. Not a military or civil exhibition but mainly small experimental aircraft through the ages.

By Ruth5757 |

The EAA museum at Oshkosh airfield is presented in two sections. One is held in a very modern purpose-built hangar. The other section is named "Pioneer Airport" and has an assembly of wooden hangars which contain vintage light aircraft dating back to the 1920s. It is possible to book flights in several of these veterans, sometimes on the day of your visit.

By Julie P |

Recently spent the afternoon there for the first time. Went specifically to see the WWII Bomber Nose art display but was surprised at the amount of things to look at there. There is a lot of things to see and read about just in the WWII display we could've spent a lot more time just in the Eagle Hangar that houses the WWII display. There are many other interesting display covering a lot of the history of flight and major milestones in history. It was an afternoon well spent.

By Hans |

Opened in 1983 it still looks modern. The staff is welcoming and kind. There is a main building and 7 hangars on the grounds to which you can ride by what they call a tram. The collection is mainly about self constructed airplanes but they also have the P51 Mustang and P38 Lightning planes. No B17 other other bombers which you see in other museums. I found the collected interesting to look at, we had a great time in there.

By ElleAhr |

What a find! Beautiful displays in an astounding facility. EAA and it's annual air venture event has a world-wide reputation among aviation buffs. The airport becomes the busiest on the planet for one week each year. No matter when you're in Oshkosh you can catch a glimpse of the excitement in this delightful museum.

By Dallin L |

Loved it, went during EAA AirVenture. Super busy, but got through well and staff was nice, including V.I.P. access to see the original Millenium Falcon model while the hangar was closed due to a drawing I gave staff. AirVenture was also super cool. The Lockheed L-1049G (C-121) Constellation was there; I gave them a drawing of the plane, N422NA, and they let me tour the plane, even though it's private access. Same with the Blimp. Airshows were amazing. Plenty of nice people. It's underrated. Would go again.

What a great place. My husband and I come every year to see the show and visit the museum. It’s very educational and a lot of thing to buy for everyone in the family.

By Marti R |

Lots to see at the museum. Great WW II fighter plane art. Self guided so can move at own pace. Exhibits for adults and children. Some space exhibits too.

By GermanDave |

The EAA Aviation Museum as well as the Air Show in August is a must visit if you like planes and anything related to aviation. We are no experts, but became fans by the show that is being put on. You will
Meet so many nice people.

Was here two years ago ,they have made the museum even better I do like the nose art they have hanging up now and how the EAA was started would recommend to any one who likes air craft to visit ...

By Garden guy |

If you are into flying this is a wonderful place to visit. The Museum has vintage planes, warbirds, ultra lights etc. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.

By mikris2011 |

2nd time ive went in 30 years. Worth it if u can make it. It is a huge museum so give urself a few hours to look at everything. Awesome

By Sqeeky17 |

This is a wonderful museum for both kids and adults. There are a lot of hands on experiences for the kids to do and learn from.

By Marcelo M |

Very cool museum, I recommend 3-4 hours for visiting. Kids will love it, several interactives attractions.

By Karen C |

We have been 5 times now. Great to visit and lots to see. Have especially enjoyed some of the guest speakers.

By Gregg S |

Spent the day at EAA Airventure with my wife. First time for both of us although I have flying experience. Wow, just Wow! It is amazing how much they fit into the inside square of the airport between the cross runways. Definitely need multiple days to get through most of the show grounds, a week if you want to see it all.

By Cheryl382 |

Great family experience! "Kids of all ages" will enjoy. So much history to see. Lots of interactive things for the young ones.

By pkabo |

This is one of the best museums for the heart of aviation! Great exhibits and an extensive collection of airplanes! I have been here a million times and I see something new every time! Make time for the movies as well! Plan to go during one of their events and you will LOVE the food and people!!!

By Danny B |

Co-worker and I stopped by today since we had time to kill. Being retired military, I know there was a discount. Totally surprised to find that before noon is free. Very well thought of museum, very good informational movies, very good layout. We spent two hours here, but could have gone longer. Well done!!

By Don H |

It had been awhile since our last visit to the museum and we found many new exhibits. One that was fascinating was the WWII Bomber Nose Art display located in my favorite area, the WWII Aircraft Hall. Our 12 year old granddaughter was thrilled with all the interactive exhibits, especially the flight simulators. This is most definitely the museum for aviation enthusiasts. One should mot miss Air/V held every summer where hundreds of aircraft of all types fly-in.

By 321barbs |

We visited the EAA Aviation Museum during August which was a great time to visit. With AirVenture over, we were able to spend a lot of time here without the crowds. We virtually had the museum to ourselves and the Kids area was so much fun. The museum itself is beautifully maintained and we learned so much. Take a look, you will not be disappointed. Thanks EAA!

By debrajo2013 |

It was a great interesting experience today. Very informative and interesting. Really nice planes to look at. Very clean and organized nicely. We would recommend it to anyone!!!!

By rasoprano |

We have been fans of EAA for years & every time we visit it is a new experience. Don't miss the current exhibit of WWll "nose art". Fascinating history not to be missed.
From Wright to Rutan and beyond, there are hands on interactive exhibits for the kids and explanations of aerodynamics on every level of interest.
I would say the only thing that could be improved upon would be bringing the women's contributions to flight into a more welcoming area of the museum. My mom was a pilot and I would like to see a more comprehensive area for women young and old to enjoy the thrill of flight.

By kevin389 |

This is my second time doing the Airventure and it is still fantastic. If you are going to spend some time here, I recommend either a bike or scooter. I'm really glad that I brought my bike. Saves an awful lot of walking or waiting for a tram. Even when I got lost there was plenty of things to see and do. This is a bucket list event! I will say no more.

By Todd A |

Even with snow in the air, this museum was well worth the visit. Give yourself some time to take in all that it has to offer!

By lancer60411 |

By far a wonderful experience, for the young, old and anyone else. Very informative,
Beautifully done, and well worth the trip. Grandkids loved it. We were also able to see some planes in hangers, and watch old cars for a show that weekend. What a bonus for all of us. Hope to get back soon, with more grandkids!

By Dean’s trip reviews |

This place was huge! It was the size of 4-5 aircraft hangers. We thought the museum was big to begin with, with a room full of general aviation aircraft. But then we walked into another HUGE hanger full of WWII aircraft! Loved it.

By BrentFavre |

Just stopped in with my family to have a nice afternoon. I love planes and this museum had a lot of great exhibits. I would highly recommend checking it out.

By Michael L |

Lots of information to take in, dozens of aircrafts to check out. One of the greatest spots to visit while in Oshkosh for sure!

By WARSAWRUN |

My second time here. My son and grandson’s first. This is one of the world’s finest aviation museums. Well presented with an excellent selection of aircraft and artifacts. Allow about 4 hours for a relaxed visit that includes the shuttle bus ride to the Pioneer Airport hangars.

During this visit, the free introductory Young Eagle’s flight was on offer for 8-17 year olds. An outstanding experience for young folk.

Docents are hospitable and informative.

Well worth the trip, with items of interest for all ages.

By Rescuelance |

I took my 6 year old today and she loved the pioneer airport! Along with all the other exibits, it was an awesome little day trip. We’ll keep coming back 👍

By Rochelle F |

Well worth the trip and excellent knowledgeable friendly staff to meet and greet you with over the top friendliness. I would plan this at a minimum 2 hour trip if you really love planes.

By TravelinSalesman193 |

Need I say more!? An amazing visit to the Ultimate aviation experience! The museum was great! To see the collection of aircraft and exhibits on display shows how passionate the EAA are about aviation! If you are in Oshkosh whether for Airventure or passing through, stop at this museum for sure!

By WisTrippers |

I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life and have attended events on the grounds, but I had never been in the EAA museum until now. First, they have very good COVID procedures in place. The flip side of that is some of the high touch exhibits and refreshments (they let you leave and come back if you want) are closed. We went without kids so for us, that was fine. Exhibits were very good and I was surprised how much aviation history is tied to Wisconsin. They also did a great job conveying the role women have played in aviation since its inception. There is also a large gift shop with a wide variety of items.

By Taylor B |

A long-time newspaper colleague annually regaled me with stories of his adventures at the EAA AirVenture Museum's annual fly-in and air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the biggest of its kind in the world, more planes, more exhibits, more activities, the town's most popular tourist attraction. So, after several years, my wife and I finally had an opportunity to visit the museum. At a later date, we hope to schedule the air show. But the museum is one of the most interesting air shows in the country. Established in 1983 at 3000 Poberezny Road, it is dedicated to the preservation and display of historic and experimental aircraft as well as antiques and classics. Located adjacent to Wittman Regional Airport, home of the museum's sponsoring organization, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and the organization's airshow that takes place in late July/early August, it displays over 200 aircraft and 20,000 artifacts, indoors and outdoors, and other exhibits and activities, including occasional aircraft rides. You can see civilian and military aircraft of historic importance as well as vintage, home-built, racing and stunt aircraft. Some of the most historic and unusual are a Sikorsky S-38 amphibian flying boat, the Taylor Aerocar flying car, a replica of Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, French and German World War I fighters, a Curtiss Pusher, a replica of the Wright Flyer and its predecessor, Octave Chanute's hand glider, a 1940s vintage Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, a 1920s/1930s vintage Ford Tri-Motor airliner, replicas of the first private spacecraft and the globe-circling Rutan Voyager and a Bell 47 helicopter. Pioneer Airport, an old-time grass airstrip located behind the museum, displays aircraft from the golden age of aviation.

It is great to walk into an aviation museum and find it full of kids having a blast in the place. Kudo’s to all the volunteers supporting!!!

My highlights were the XP51 (the original prototype build by hand of the later so famous Mustang fighter) and two of my favorites of WW2 the P38 Lighting and the Mosquito.

By WIflytraveler |

We had a great time. This is a gem for the area. We went during spring break with the kids. There is a lot to look at and its is geared for both young and old. The kids did their scavenger hunt and had fun with that. There is a ton to do for all ages.

By marinerbay |

The Museum was the main reason for our visit to Oshkosh and what a great idea it was. I have known about the Oshkosh Fly In for years but this was my 1st visit here. This museum is very well done. The history of the EAA is well documented and their displays of vintage and experimental aircraft is second to none. It would take too much to explain the EAA here but it is worth a Google if you are into planes in any way. Then again if you are into planes you already know the EAA and Oshkosh.
The day we were there, there was an open cockpit aircraft available for rides (at an extra cost). The museum volunteers were very informative and I can't say enough about their enthusiasm for the museum and it's history.
If you are in the area this place is a must do.

By maryexferd |

EAA museum is not just a history of aviation. It is a history of the people who took a chance to expand the horizon. To push the envelope for the next generation. Alsi interactive history for both children and adults. Those who have flown in a young eagles program can find their name in the worlds largest log book.
The museum is an ever changing living history museum.

By ctygrl22 |

The museum has so much to look at, and it is easy to skip the kids area. They have a lot of hands on experimental and hinge for kids/adults to do. I would highly recommend giving yourself at least an hour for that area. One could spend an entire day going through the whole museum!

By Sue Richter |

Amazing place with so much aviation history. Even an interactive area for the kids. We were there during airventure so it was very busy.

By johnsonevv |

Amazing and if you are into aviation history, it is a must see. It’s almost overwhelming with all the different planes and other information. Excellent stop.

By Shannon C |

We enjoyed our time at EAA very much. We even sat through the hour long movie because it showcased the EAA flight show they have every year but without the noise and smell and people, so more enjoyable.
We didn't go up in the bi plans but we watched others. It was a beautiful day to stroll around the outer hangers.

By Nancy S |

We visited today and spend about 4 hours and feel like we just scraped the surface really, but had lots of fun!! My son loves history so he absolutely loved the historical connections to everything and the short video presentations as well.

By mnslugbug |

We were taking a road trip from Minnesota to Niagara Falls. On our way back we were looking for things to do and we saw Oshkosh in our sights. My husband said there was an aviation museum here so we sought it out. It was an amazing stop. The museum is well cared for and obvious lives by its members. The knowledge and history we gained here far exceeded our expectations. We were there for 3 1/2 hours and this was not enough time! We are now planning a visit back in the next couple of months with friends!

By OsVi16 |

Always a good place to take the kids when the weather outside is questionable. Lots of colorful & funky planes & gliders to check out

By Noah A |

I've been a lifelong aviation nut and was on my way to Door County and was happy when doing my research to see that the EAA Museum was so nearby. I got off the road and really enjoyed the exhibits in the main hanger. Everything was very professional, among the best I've seen at the many aviation museums I have visited. The grounds were spotless and the machines extremely well kept. Absolutely one of the most aesthetically pleasing museums I've visited. Here's a hint, if the weather permits take the time to visit the hangers featuring the vintage aircraft on the opposite side of the grass airfield. During my visit two vintage aircraft were available for rental rides. I took a ride in the 1927 Swallow and was so happy I did. The experience was a once in a lifetime deal. My pilot took me up to the west of the airfield and did a few maneuvers, A figure eight and a controlled stall. I'll admit it was bit exhilarating and left me pretty amped up. The price was $75 for about a 15 minute ride, so totally worth it. They have a big airshow here in late July so if your around then be sure to visit. Admission was about 10-12 bucks for adults so not much at all. Loved it!

By Veronica P |

A well laid out museum with lots of exhibits, planes from different eras and plenty of information to read as well. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Nose Art exhibit and reading about the history of them. That was new to me. We visited as part of the annual Oshkosh airshow. I am an airoplane novice unlike my husband and before I visited I thought it would be all too much but it wasn't. Everything is so fascinating and I would recommend this even to non enthusiasts! The gift shop is excellent and rest room facilities very good. We didn't sample the cafe as there was a thunder storm brewing which we wanted to avoid. Transport to and from during this week was by free shuttle. Not sure how it is outside Air Venture.

By Cashebitt |

We highly recommend this museum. You are taken through a history of aviation. As adults we really enjoyed the kids section with hands on experiences. The volunteers are very sweet and kind. They were very helpful with directions and coming attractions. We normally don’t go to museums but don’t miss out on this museum.

By Indiana H. P |

The full scale model of the Wright Bros. Airplane was awesome! Loads of cool stuff in this museum. Learned a lot about aviation history. Could have spent much more time here if there wasn't an awesome airshow happening outside.

By llwid |

We stopped on a whim, (none of us into aviation) thinking this would be a small collection of models and pictures. We stayed 4 hours and could have spent more time. There were hundreds of planes on display- actual and full scale replicas. Lots of pictures, log books, accessories, military memorabilia. Interactive displays fun for all ages, simulators too. An awesome WWII nose art display. Highly recommend and don't skip the introductory movie.

By Mikewhiteley05 |

This museum is amazing. They have a massive collection of historically important as well as super interesting aircraft. They have planes from the Kitty Hawk to the most modern jets. They have an amazing WWII collection, including nose art from WWII bombers

By D4379 |

Went to the museum during airventure. Great facility documenting the history of the EAA. Despite the massive crowds the staff kept things running well.

By cjlambert2016 |

What a wonderful place for pilots. A definite buck-list item. Try and time your visit to coincide with the EAA Airventure week. It will blow your mind!

By Cari K |

EAA stands for Experimental Aircraft Assn and their museum reflects that heritage. You will find aircraft that you won't see anywhere else, and some of them are just "plane" strange. The museum has several interactive exhibits that all ages would enjoy; my favorite was flying a hot air balloon. The facility includes movies and a very nice gift shop. Downstairs is an extensive display of WWII nose art. A display of Spaceship One is on the ground floor with a short video at the top of the hour. Expect to spend an afternoon there, and the kids should like it, too!

By t0p5 |

We had a good time looking around and learning about the history of aviation. There was a lot to see. Unfortunately, there was a chemical smell (paint or something similar) which was overbearing and so we left after 45 minutes with headaches. We'll visit again sometime when they're not renovating.

By Rob Allison |

I hadn't gone through the museum during my last couple of visits to Oshkosh, so was pleasantly surprised to find several new exhibits and some updates on what I'd remembered from before. Although there is much to see, the museum is manageable in size and has enough to entertain the children for the adults to have an uninterrupted experience.

By Tim A |

This is a family place. There is something for everyone from tots to 100 plus. Memories from the past are brought back to life and generations of old tell their stories to the youngsters. Dreams and visions for the future are born and take shape here as the kids see, hear, smell, touch, and experience all that life in the atmosphere above and space is about. DO NOT miss this!

By Dan B |

Visited with our Boy Scout troop for an overnight again after doing so 4 years ago. Still a great place to spend an afternoon/evening with something for everyone. I always learn something new.

By Mike C |

Attended the 2017 airshow and part of this the EAA museum. This is a must for your bucket list if you are remotely interested in aviation
The daily airshow which runs for a week is excellent and the twice a week night airshow is simply stunning
Get close up to warbirds of all shapes and sizes and often meet the owners who are usually delighted to discuss their aircraft with you
Huge amount to see and do and meet some great people from all over the world
Fancy a flight in a B17. It's a terrific experience
This is a great event and simply world class

By Bryan M |

We are members and visit often. Great history, exhibits and kids activities. In the warmer months make sure to visit the outside hangars.

By McTamara |

We were there early on an October Saturday - hardly any other visitors. One of our group uses a wheelchair, so we appreciated the easy access and conveniently located elevators. Plan to spend 2 -3 hours here - lots to see. We really enjoyed the kids' area, even though we were all adults. Lots of fun to try the different activities. We liked the nose art display, as well as all the permanent displays. Lots of aircraft to see, both historic and modern.

By ChicagoLiving |

We were looking for something fun to do with our 2.5 year old on a cold January morning. Our little one loves airplanes and rockets so the EAA was a great find. She squealed with delight the moment she walked in. There is a fun interactive kids area that she liked, but she really loved the rocket simulator and the magnets. The museum is large so she was able to run and be excited by everything she saw.
We spent about 1.5 hours inside and she was entertained the entire time. A extra perk: we didn't pay an entrance fee as we are members of the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago.
I never thought to take a toddler to the EAA, but I highly recommend it. We will certainly return on our next visit to the area!

By Bob B |

Enjoyed the Space information and how EAA Aviation is so involved with aviation.
Learned a lot! We spent 3 hours and the time went by fast.

By Scott D |

A visit to the EAA museum is a must do if you've never been!! It's an amazing walk through air travel history with planes galore to stand in awe of
And if you've already paid it a visit, it's ever changing so give it a second or third visit. And I'd be remiss in not recommending experiencing it at Christmas, beautifully decorated for the season!!

By Johnny B |

After being in aviation for 48 years, I was finally able to attend the EAA Airshow. What an experience - so many planes touching all areas of aviation. Most enjoyable to me were the military displays, daily airshows, and the Flying Cowboys STOL presentation. What a blast!! On site transportation wasn't the best after 8:00 pm. Our visit was 2 days and was a sufficient length of time.

By Markandjennie |

Have been to EAA museum couple times. Is a neat place to visit if you love aviation or want to learn about history of aviation. Some really neat planes to see from different eras. The museum is nicely laid out and is good size. Very well maintained. Have been here for a few work outings, and they do a nice job with organized events, great food and the museum serves as a fun activity. The scavenger hunt activity is fund to try and find the answers to questions searching all over the museum.

By Sue W |

We brought the grandkids ages from 2-7 and there was something for all of them to do. The children's area has a lot of hands on exhibits that they can participate in.
A lot of planes both on the ground and hanging in the air to observe. There is an area to bring in snacks for the kids to sit and eat.
Special exhibits and attractions.
2-3 hours is probably enough for kids. Adults good spend 5-7 hours trying to see everything.

By voyageurfoodie |

We enjoyed an afternoon wandering around the WWII airplanes and watching the video of Spaceship One. A fun little museum.

By EL47336 |

The museum is a must if you are in Wisconsin. It is a beautiful first-class facility that takes you on a journey through the history of aviation.

By Elkbaybob |

If your into aviation from military to commercial and everything in between this is the place for you!

By melissasnest |

EAA is a very nice place to visit for people of all ages. Affordable and fun. We will likely visit again in the future.

By saustin |

Very good museum with family friendly exhibits. The admission is reasonable. If you have any interest in airplanes then you must go.

By z0607 |

Museum has an amazing breadth from earliest flight, barnstorming, war birds, to Rutan and other modern planes. You can spend an hour or a day. The hangers are not always open in the winter though. The current special exhibit is nose art which is nostalgic fun.

By Mark M |

Flew on the 1928 Ford Tri-motor based in Port Clinton, Ohio. The "Tin Goose" as she is affectionately called, was America's first comfy commercial airliner. This trip, sponsored by the EAA Aviation Museum and EAA Osh Kosh, was out of KERI, with flight over PresqueIsle. Well worth the $80.00 for a first class seat.

By tocolighthouse |

A definite must if you visit Oshkosh. A wide range of aviation exhibits and memorabilia from vintage aircraft to the space age.

By Dave C |

Something for both the young and old . Airplanes from early 1900s ,WW1, WW2, racing planes and newer planes also very interesting and well worth a visit

By Chris B |

Always worth a stop. Do note that the museum does focus on experimental aircraft, which makes it a very different experience from most other aviation museums.

By gabykat7 |

Even the display for the wright brothers had North Carolina sand. It was so many planes so much history about world war 2
The Nose Art of the drawing on the planes was amazing.

By Laura K |

Thoroughly enjoyed this museum. Very well organized and such an impressive collection of aircraft. Definitely visit the Pioneer Airport displays, accessible via shuttle every 20 min or so from the main building. We learned a lot of interesting facts and heard wonderful background stories from the guide as we walked through the hangars. Wish there had been a guide or docent in the main display areas. Allow several hours at least to fully appreciate this place. We spent 3 hours here and wished for more time.

By 235nunya |

I love the muesum. The library downstairs is good too. Lots of aviation books. Grew up close by so always look forward to the EAA every year. Will be back, as always.

By TheDoor_isopen |

I visited during the EAA AirVenture week and found relief from the heat and plenty of exhibits to view. It is housed in a large purpose-built 3 level building very close to Wittman Airfield, where the Air Show is held and I accessed the museum via an AirShow complimentary bus. I only completed one floor of exhibits because there was so much to see and read. I would like to go back and complete the second floor another time.
The exhibit I liked the best were the rooms which were set up as the Poperezny's (the founders'), first premises. I had no idea this couple started it all and how it has massively expanded during the last 50 years.
One aspect I noticed was that the exhibits are very American. There is not much about other aviators apart from Americans. It is a very "patriotic" museum.
They have an extensive range of merchandise and I found it to be good quality.
Definitely worth a visit.

By scatterbolts |

Very interesting and informative. This is my second visit here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The kids interactive area was great.

By Sh61367 |

Plan on spending a lot if you dont plan far ahead. Lodging within almost 100 miles cost 3x the usual. Event entrance for 2 of us was $100, which isnt bad if you going more than one day, but pretty steep for a 1 day visit. On site food is expensive, and if you want to see inside individual planes, most of them are an additional charge. Still, we loved it. It runs incredibly smoothly and the air show was awesome!

By rrgeniusz |

My art students went on yearly drawing and viewing tours of this museum because the planes were displayed as works of art. They are not just crammed together in a barn-like building but displayed in a way that you can appreciate the work of art that each plane is. The history of flight can be traced from the first gliders, to the Wright Brothers, on to WW One, between the wars, through World War Two and into Space Exploration. There are lots of "hands on" exhibits including an opportunity to see if you can pedal fast enough to have made the pedal powered MacCready Gossamer Albatross take flight. You will find it very difficult to urge the children and teens to move on from this area. my favorite exhibits are the Spirit of St Louis, Voyager that completed the first nonstop flight around the world, and the Work War Two Hanger. This is definitely a "destination trip" that will take most of a day.

By kevin389 |

Went there for the first time during the Air Venture, Would compare it to the Air Force museum in Dayton, Oh. just on a smaller scale. Lots of unique aircraft and interactive displays well worth the trip. Free if you are an EAA member.

By Joel W |

Plan on spending considerable time here exploring and learning about aircraft through history and into the future. There are many hands on displays and videos to watch.
Many special events are held here thru the spring and summer as well so I would refer to their web site for more details.

By jaseonem |

We visited as part of their annual Airventure Fly-In this year. We went there just to get out of the sun for a little bit and we were blown away by this little museum.

It has all kinds of restored aircraft and artifacts, and has a special exhibit of Apollo program artifact (part of the Airventure is celebrating the 50 anniversary of Apollo)

It's definitely worth your time!

By Ann K |

Went to visit with a family member that is more technically oriented than i am. He had a great time, a had a good time. The current exhibit of nose art during WWII sounds interesting. Displays very professionally donr.

By Ben H |

My wife and I were on vacation in Wisconsin and being a pilot and history buff I had always wanted to see the EAA aviation museum. When nearby we went there and ended up spending a half day there. It was really well thought out and has a nice display of aircraft. I certainly recommend to any aviation or history enthusiast.

By Larry F |

We really enjoyed this museum. The staff handled the huge crowds with courtesy and expertise. We enjoyed all of the exhibits and two special guest speakers: Dick Rutan and also Colonel Bud Anderson. Dick is the first man to fly around the world without stopping or refueling in the Voyager aircraft. Bud is a triple-Ace in a P-51 during WWII.

The museum is well laid out and very interesting.

By ludwickk1992 |

The EAA museum is a fantastic museum. I've been to almost every major US aviation museum and the EAA museum is definitely one of the top ones.

By Andrew H |

We spent 5 hours there, lots to see and well worth the entrance fee. Staff were knowledgeable and keen to interact. Display of WW2 aircraft nose art was excellent.

By Marjorie N |

The EAA AirVenture Museum has just about everything you might want to know about aircraft. There are wonderful exhibits that walk you through the history of aviation. Make sure you check dates before you go...the last week of July and first week of August are usually very busy because of their convention.

By Paul S |

The museum was a fun detour from our annual boys trip to Airventure. The exhibits were interesting and the staff was friendly. The gift shop was ok.

By mphill9929 |

We planned on spending 2 hours and moving on. Ended up closer to 4 hours and really enjoyed the exhibits. Definitely worth a visit.

By Claudia M |

I️ attended this air show in Osh Kosh as a teenager with my Dad. That was quite a few years ago 😃. I️ remember being completely amazed by the experience. From seeing a Harrier Jet (sp?) take off to the incredible show by the Blue Angels.

I️ finally had the chance to go back to this EAA show in Osh Kosh this summer and I️ was so impressed! It is a week long event I️ believe. There are all sorts of activities you can participate in as well as everything you can imagine related to aviation .

We didn’t have enough time to take advantage of those opportunities but hope to go back next year.

The aviation museum there is very impressive!

My favorite part however is the air show!!

Definitely worthwhile!!

By Virgil1944 |

Even for those who are not airplane 'nuts', this place is a fun visit!
Bring the kids too; they have here something for all ages!

By Scott S |

It's a great museum to learn about aviation and the structure of fabric covered aircraft. The day we were there, the museum had a great exhibit of WWII aircraft and nose art, along with other artifacts of that time period.

By George S |

Attended the 2018 EAA Airventure. Camped on the grounds for $189 for the week. The campground, an unmowed field, was a rough 25 minute walk to the flightline each way. Although there was some bus transportation, the route did not cover our part of the campground. Its a great show, just not that accessible to the campground

By TipsFrmMN |

Oshkosh was an unexpected visit (tire #4 had ended up on the highway and Oshkosh could replace it). We had a just a few hours to spend there and didn't have time to see all of the great plane exhibits because we ended up taking airplane rides! Choosing the 1927 Swallowtail Maneuver option was worth the splurge of $75. There is a junior pilot program thing too. Not my age category, so not sure of the logistics, but there were flights fore 7-17 year olds too. The volunteers are great and the pilots too! Amazingly lucky find in a not so big town. If we had more time, would certainly have stayed longer and will go back.

By naya58 |

The visit to this museum saved our trip to an area were there is very little to visit. This place was great, well maintained, great staff. awesome airplanes and aircraft! You could even fly on a little for 75.00. We didn't do it but many people were in line. I think little kids don't have to pay. This place is worth visiting. the town not so much.

By alan n |

I suppose we should have expected less, given that we weren't going during Air Venture, but the exhibit space was probably 50 - 75% empty. Everyone should plan to go around the airshow.

Great place with a lot of history and planes on display. We paid going in and they said keep your receipt and you can go to lunch and come back. Thought it was a joke but we seriously could have spent so much time there that we needed to leave and come back.

We had a great time. Everyone was friendly and full of information. Really enjoyed our time! Unfortunately due to weather we were unable to take a ride in the plane but that didn’t ruin our time, was still fun. We spent about 4 hours there! Worth every penny!

The EAA museum is a must see for any aviation fan!! Wonderful display of WWII nose art that is just not seen anymore. Take the time and pay them a visit today!!

This place is awesome!!! There are so many interactive things to keep the younger kids entertained. All the planes are amazing to look at, but the military section was my favorite. This is a must visit place and it’s not overly expensive.

My husband has been an EAA member for a long time, and we've been to Oshkosh for the fly-in, but never made it to the museum. We finally went the week after the fly-in to avoid the crowds. The museum is well laid out and has interesting planes and memorabilia. The outside hangars have some great older planes so don't miss those. And when we were there, airplane rides were being offered as a way to interest people (especially young people) in aviation.

I was welcomed by EAA volunteers and spent three hours being fascinated by the exhibits. A collection probably unequalled anywhere else and a real tribute to the Poberezny family who created the organisation. The aircraft are well grouped and I saw many of the types I had flown in past years. One co-incidence was that in the Museum shop I found a book on sale that I had co-written in the UK around 30 years ago. I bought several Christmas presents for friends and family. A must for any aviation enthusiast.

This is really interesting if you're into aviation. Enjoyed looking at the airplanes and historical items. My 9-year old is now a Young Eagle. Best part of the visit!

This museum is the ultimate for aviation enthusiasts and those that enjoy history. There are great hands-on exhibits for young and old alike. A must see for anyone visiting Oshkosh.

The museum was a fun detour from our annual boys trip to Airventure. The exhibits were interesting and the staff was friendly. The gift shop was ok.

This museum was great. Going now we had much of the museum to ourselves. Apparently the place gets packed in the summer. We had lots of time to enjoy and try the hands on displays. Enjoyed reading some of the stores and I am amazed about how much pilots need to know. The F100 instrumentation is something that I have never seen before. Walking slowly through the two floors I appreciated more the evolution of the airplane. The section in the hangar is great, showing lots of war planes. The experimental planes were also very interesting. Amazing what people created and flew. I would recommend this for any child or adult.

I made sure this was on our list of places to visit and boy was I happy about it!

The museum is huge, includes an active airfield and several hangers with additional planes. There was enough to see and read to keep you there for hours. Many of the aircraft were reproductions, but they were impeccably done, while others were restored to their original glory. We were fortunate to be there for a special exhibit that included original artwork from B27 bombers. The aircraft range from military, to residential and beyond.

If you can plan your visit around their annual airshow. We just missed it, but we're there closer enough that they were offering free biplane rides to kids 17 and under.

I highly recommend visiting. Nothing I say will fully describe the experience. This is a must for any aviation enthusiast.

The museum itself is very good. We visited last year and my then 13-year-old daughter went up in a Young Eagles flight, free flights offered for kids to encourage their interest in aviation. We were told the only limit was she could only do one flight per DAY. Fair enough, we purchased a family membership figuring she would get some flying opportunities as she is pursuing getting a pilot's license. We visited in May, she went up no problem. In July, the woman at the check in complained a bit that she was back a 2nd time, but let her fly. The volunteer pilot reaffirmed what we had previously been told that the only limit was one flight per DAY. We went today and the guy at the desk absolutely refused to allow her to sign in as he insisted she was only allowed one flight per YEAR! We explained we had been told otherwise when we purchased our membership, but he was unsympathetic. We asked for his supervisor but he claimed he ran Pioneer Airport and had the final say. Not real classy. Had we known of the limit we would have skipped the membership and put the money toward flight time for her at our local airport. Guys, please keep your promises!

Cool to see all different types of planes and the really old one's as well! Cool to see the different artwork on planes as well!

On the big scheme of things, this museum is a little on the small side. But it houses some amazing examples of some very rare aircraft.

It is an absolute must if you are anywhere near Oshkosh!

My family made this a must see after watching the air show on Livestream the past 2 years. This museum is one of the best that I've seen and unfortunately we missed the outside hangers due to time constraints. My son loved the kidzone activities and looking at all of the planes, while I was fascinated with learning new things and all of the nose art. I can't wait until we get the opportunity to go back. My only complaint was a lot of the simulators and some of the activities for kids were broken or out of service, which I can only assume is from the recent air show and they have not had a chance to repair them yet.

While the majority of the museum is oriented toward adults there is a great kids area with a lot of interactive exhibits. It is also part of the ASTC Travel Passport Program which also you to get in for free if you have a membership at another science museum that is part of this network.

The best air show and convention I have ever been to, both in Europe and the US.

Flew a Huey - Flew in a B25, saw an airdisplay that must of had 120+ aircraft in the air at the same time.

Take my hat off to EAA irganisors both for the razzamataz, the flying , the booths, the forums and last but not least the great things they do for the Kids. Puts our LAA to shame in the UK.

This is a great stop for anyone interested in aircraft. Many great examples laid out in a very professional and clean environment. The museum has a children's area for small children and teens alike. I have visited multiple times. They also bring in special displays at times. The WWII nose art display was very good! You will also see some great examples of scale models. Perhaps one of the best aircraft scale models in the world. It is huge! Plan to spend a minimum of two hours or more. The facility also has some off site displays in hangars nearby that are worth visiting as well. They also have a great gift shop.

This is a place everyone should visit. It has so much history, and not just replicas -- they have many of the original places and artifacts. Not heavily visited to you can easily distance and keep safe in your own space. So much to see! Will go back

I have been a member for many years and have volunteered for the Air Show. What a great organization of very dedicated individuals. They take great pride in doing everything they do.

We went to the EAA Aviation Museum while at EAA Airventure. What a wonderful museum, so much history, just not enough time! Next year when we come up for EAA Airventure, we will definitely have more time to allow us to explore the museum more thoroughly.

Great museum to visit and a lot to see, a must see museum on aviation experimental and warbird aircraft. Lots of history.

If you have any desire to visit an Air Show and you are near Oshkosh, WI yo should by all means visit the show sat Whitmen field. WOW

Thirty five years or so after it was built, the EAA aviation museum is still a world-class aviation museum. By necessity, they’ve changed some exhibits over the years, but some have been retained and updated as well. The world of sport aviation is a pretty big place but they do a remarkable job of covering it all. One thing that they do a bit better than anyone else is covering the Golden Age of Air Racing. They’ve got several aircraft from that era on display.

Mandatory visit for your Oshkosh Airventure Experience. Lots of people at this time but that is the character of Oshkosh. Check the speakers' program and plan your visit.
Easy to navigate around the museum. Take the bus. Pioneer village is nearby. So much to see in the museum.

By Shepherd33 |

Wide assortment of general aviation aircraft and stories, in addition to the Associations history. The exhibits change over time, it's well worth a return trip.

The Museum at EAA's World Headquarters is a history, aviation buffs must see. And, the gift shop will satisfy your desire for mementos or gifts. The Experimental Aircraft Association is the best organization going for the support of private (General Aviation) pilots, and is not limited to home-built aircraft. The extensive collection of WWII bomber art is, all by itself, worth the visit!

I have been going to Oshkosh on vacations for years and always plan to go to the museum at least one day during my trip. Avoid the museum during the airshow week it tends to be packed. I love the exhibits but spend most of my time in the World War II exhibit. Not to expensive and something the whole family can enjoy.

I am a world traveler, been there done it at Many museums. I love history and airplanes. Several people suggested I visit EAA. Once I walked in, it took 00seconds to totally agree it was worth my time and the admission! I left $$ in the donation box when I wasn’t even a third of the way through. The admission is good for the day and you can go in and out....make use of that! You will want to spend the day. It is appealing to everyone all ages and stages. Hands on, visuals are awesome!
