We came for my daughter's graduation

By Frank H |

Nice and small campus! There is a sense of community.at ECU. The town is in a state of Flux! There are many depressed neighberhoods.
The campus however is beautiful. Nice green areas and good departments. A place to think of!

Alumnus

By PAW |

Lovely campus that is being revamped. Beautiful buildings and landscape. There are many spots on campus to take photos, stretch out on the grass for a read/nap, and let's not forget FRIED CHICKEN WEDNESDAY at the dining halls (Todd has the best chicken vs West End). Trying not to be biased, but I love ECU! PURPLE!!!! *waits to hear someone yell in the distance GOLD!!!*

Recently visited with my employer for a departmental career fair. Staff is always professional and helpful to future, current, and past students.

Great campus ECU

By Donnalisa P |

Great campus, clean and safe. Outlying area a bit sketchy but not Bronx NY. Loads of restaurants, coffee shops and shopping with walking to campus.

Great school community.

By CDtradeshows |

The university has a great atmosphere and beautiful campus. The sports facilities are above and beyond what you would expect. During football season, the city is purple with pride.
The different groups within ECU work within the community to help. The performing arts program is wonderful!

A must see

By ravenfootball |

Wow, what a large campus. Took a short tour but the scenery and the smell coming from the old buildings was incredible. Shopped in the college gift shop for some ECU pirate stuff.

Outstanding regional university

By Jim W |

Quality education combined with moderate cost makes this an ideal choice for aspiring professionals. The colleges, schools, and departments are all accredited by their respective accrediting agencies

Attended grandaughters graduation

By Wallypm |

This school has grown substantially since I was last here and they're continuing to build.Graduation was well attended and followed tradition lines for this type of function.

Visiting Daughter

By howard_wal |

Our daughter is doing a 1 year international student exchange program so we thought we would pay her a visit before heading off on a road trip. Absolutely love the the huge and impressive campus it is set in, not experienced anything like it in the UK. Whilst there we took the opportunity to go and support the Pirates at the amazing football stadium, loved all the pre and post match tailgating and band parade, these folk really no how to bring a party to a match. However, the best thing is to know our daughter is enjoying her time there and getting a 100% support from the staff at the University and plenty of studying to do, undoubtedly more than she had back home.

East Carolina University

By retta84730 |

A great university offering undergraduate and master's degree programs. On campus and off campus housing is available. Nearly 20 different sports programs for both men and women. Great place to get a quality education

Best Kept Secret

By love_love_my_kids |

My son wanted to get away from the "cold" and go to school in the Carolina's - yes, that is the ONLY reason we looked at ECU. Well,,, this school couldn't be more perfect for him. The school has large school spirit with a small comfy campus feel. The academics are average... like any school - you get out of it what you put into it. We are happy he is in his sophomore year at ECU!

Cool College Atmosphere

By rambo4567 |

Drove through briefly on a Saturday just to visit. College was very nice and looks like a great institution; on and off campus.

Only NC school graduating engineers, doctors and dentists. Great value/compact campus.

By Ec328888 |

29,000 students with a small college feel. Graduates more teachers than any other NC school. Largest business school in NC in terms of enrollment. Diverse Engineering College degree offerings. Among the national leaders in Family Medicine 20% of all doctors practicing in NC are Brody School of Medicine graduates. Graduates more nurses than any other school in NC. Ranks highly in affordability and value provided. One of the best kept secrets in higher education. Leader in distance learning in NC. Web address. ecu.edu

Beautiful Campus

We visited the Athletic facilities and they are very impressive!
The facilities up-keep was world class.
The staff was very kind and accommodating.
It was a great experience!

Beautiful place

By richj22 |

Home of the Pirates. So, for first timers, Pirate club members (donors) getting parking close to the stadium. For others, there are some lots that take cash but have a nice long walk to the stadium. In other words, be prepared. The stadium is very nice and has bench seating throughout. There are sections in the middle of the stadium on both sides that are for pirate club members. Those seats are regular stadium seats. Food choices are pretty good. Prices aren't bad. Some tips if it's a day game....if you are in the upper bowl be prepared to cook. We were there for a 3pm game in September and damn it was so hot. The stadium does not have any escalators, so if you need to go up and cannot handle walking the ramps, there is an elevator that can get you up there. As my son is a freshman at ECU, there will be multiple visits to this stadium. Go Pirates.

Great campus.

By DavisTravels1 |

Our son is a sophomore this year. He loves the campus and his classes. He did not care to much for dorm life and is now living off campus. He is still very close and walks or boards to class.

nothing special

By jflo122473 |

they picked this town as a place to put a college.Greenville, for a town this size, has a lot of the typical restaurants and stores you'll find anywhere else, too much traffic, and not a whole lot to do.No great scenery or anything like that.Overall boring place.Nothing even close to the real Greenville to the south, now that's a place filled with excitement and interesting things.

Pretty average mid-sized state university

By branchltd |

I guess I've been to too many universities to get as worked up about ECU as everyone else. From what I've seen of other universities, ECU is pretty average. Perhaps a little less emphasis on research, although I hear that changing (or trying to). If you want to go to a university to get a job you should do your homework and see what people earn or ROI (return on investment) of attending those universities. You also should research which universities are best for the any specific career you plan. If you want to go to a university for fun, ECU is a pretty good choice from what I hear. It's highly rated as a 'party school'. The genre is more progressive than most, so not a good place for the conservative student.

Academia with a side of crazy!

By greggl249 |

Between my wife and I, we have five degrees from ECU. Depending on the program, classes can be tough but the environment is great!

Great University!

By cdwilson |

This is a great university to attend! I earned 2 degrees from here and I wouldn't be as successful as I currently am if not for them. They have great cultural arts events such as theater and dance and other various performances. If you enjoy athletics, the Pirates are a growing football team with a new coach, winning so far... Their Medical school is a great collaboration with Vidant Medical Center. ECU has everything you could ask for.

Love me some ECU

By Anna Ward |

just went for homecoming/football game-had a great time and can't wait to go back. Did have a little parking issue and that not good BUT by the grace of god he gave us the best campus police woman who went above and beyond to help us and that she did. We would have been lost without this angel of a woman and I mean LOST.

Go Pirates!!

By MissDiva715 |

If you bleed purple and gold and are a Pirate, this is the school for you. Top notch education with teachers willing and ready to help. You have more choices than you realize: Business Admin, Construction, Art, Dance, Theater, Chemistry, Pre-Med, the sky's the limit.

Beautiful southern campus

By Carol C |

Greenville and East Carolina University very charming. Great southern campus with a lot to offer- worth checking out.

Great School

By Joy M |

My daughter graduated from ECU. It is an excellent school. She stayed on campus the first year and then rented a house the remaining years. There are many excellent teachers and advisers at ECU. She would love to go back and attend graduate school.

My daughter liked it and chose to go here.

By BobM193 |

Nice large campus, tour was good except would not let you see a dorm room on a Saturday. That wasn't communicated anywhere and every other college we toured included seeing a dorm room. Seems to have great school spirit and academics.

Tour of Campus

By Formerdog38 |

We took a general tour in the morning of the campus and then took a detailed tour with the School of Education. Both portions were organized and informative.

Great Campus Tour

By Dalamar B |

Wonderful Campus Tour, beautiful surroundings and well maintained facilities. Even though the guide had to deal with rude and terrible people he still managed to give a lot of information. #1 on my list. Will be back.

2 alumni in family

By blountscreek |

Great bus service provided by University for off campus students - safe and prompt. Easy walking main campus. Lots of dining options; great bookstore on campus. Great recreation options offered.

Great school for anyone

By nctraveler2017 |

Both our kids graduated from ECU, One with a degree in Engineering and the other in Business Management. Very pleased with the education they got. Would encourage anyone to take a look at it.

Great ECU stay

By KPit2013 |

When you are in town for an ECU event, this is a fantastic, clean, reasonable place to stay. Staff is friendly and helpful and you're close to pretty much all ECU has to offer.

Sup Dogs: the best source of Southern Comfort

By JoAnna R |

I started going to Sup Dogs over the summer, after thinking for a while about seeing what they have to offer. The only regret I have now is not trying them out sooner. The atmosphere is laid back, the food is tasty (love the Hawaiian Luau Combo), and the staff (especially those lovely ladies, Megan and Sarah) is awesome.

My best source of Southern Comfort doesn't come from a shot glass, but Sup Dogs. It roxxx!

Great College Atmosphere

By Mikbaidak |

Attended the ECU vs UNC game several weeks back. Unbelievable college game atmosphere. Lived up to its hype as a great party school but one that is very fan friendly. Lots of families enjoying the activities and I felt I was swimming in a sea of purple and gold. Facilities were great and the win over UNC was even better!

Living up to the hype...somewhat

By Midlennial |

The hype about its internet connection is true...somewhat. If you're an ECU affiliate, you can go across the street to the Medical campus and access the Internet via Eduroam, ecu-wifi, etc.

Love ECU

By Breaking the Ch... U |

Excellent university and a proud ECU alumni here. Over all I would say one of America's best college atmospheres. The academics and the medical school are excellent esp since ECU acquired the hospital 🏥 in Greenville, which According to Wikipedia the largest hospital by bed count between Baltimore Maryland and Orlando Florida. Excellent balance of academic and social life. No really crazy protests here like other schools and not really PC crazy which imo is great. Everyone gets along and is very friendly for the most part regardless of difference. Great chill vibe all around with incredible Southern hospitality.

True community purple gold love!

By terri d |

Definitely a cool school , town and purple gold area! True town involvement atmosphere. Find or rent bicycles to ride around campus, beautiful! Home football games are thrilling!

Football is King here. The city is Pirate crazy

By 6kids2016 |

Thousands come for home football games but the art and theater programs have a very varied selection and prices are reasonable. Theater for kids and summer camps give younger Pirates lots of fun

Excellent Dental School

By GMWRPH |

Impressive facilities at the new dental school. Very beautiful and state of the art facility. Easily accessible with excellent parking areas.

ECU open house

By Mike |

Great visit to ECU for the Fall open house. The students that represented the various programs represented the university very well. Great first impression for myself and my daughter.

Arghhh! No Quarter!

By William P |

Go Pirates! I've had 2 sons graduate this fine institution, both with double degrees and from the Honors College - and both did it in 4 years. I'm a proud Pirate parent and would highly recommend ECU

Growing City and University... Proud to be a Pirate!

By NCPirate |

Having been a part of the Pirate Nation for over 46 years...as a student, fan, and parent of an ECU graduate...I have watched both the growth of the University and the city of Greenville for quite some time.

There have, and will continue to be growing pains from both. However, the strength of having a top notch University has brought much economic growth to Greenville and also the entire Eastern half of NC. The medical school has established itself into one of the finest hospital facilities in our state, capable of serving the medical needs of many in a more timely fashion...rather than when you had to go to Chapel Hill or Duke or Norfolk for serious illnesses. We are still the leading university in this state in the preparation of teachers! Our School of Music has always been one of the most respected music schools in the US...and I could go on-and-on about the other academic programs within the university. Add the growth and success of many of our athletic programs...and the building of some A+ facilities and venues. ECU has become a major partner in insuring Greenville and Eastern North Carolina citizens are rewarded with the benefits that offer the chance at a better standard of living.

Yes, many folk get down on the parking...I agree it is horrible. A few parking decks would be appreciated. Many folk talk about some of the old buildings...yes, we have some old buildings, but most of us are pleased that they have not all been torn down...and it takes time and money to renovate those older structures. Many claim that Athletics play too large a role. Well, I wish our academic programs could garner us the publicity as easily as our athletic programs bring us. All big universities are strapped with the same problem. However, as I have traveled to other countries and around the US, I have been approached on many occasions by folk who see my ECU hat/Logo and have come up to say "Go Pirates"... They know our name and brand...and I am pleased we are recognized. If asked questions about ECU, I will talk about our academic programs before I talk athletics!!

Are we perfect...No... Can we improve...absolutely... Does either of these deter from what I see in our University... Never!

If you are nearby...drop by and take a tour of the campus and experience the hospitality of the Pirate Nation!!! If you can get to a football game...You'll never forget the energy and excitement you will experience...

GO PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!

By Angel M |

My daughter is going to ECU and loves loves loves it!
She is majoring in biology and nutrition, loves this college.
This is an awesome college, very large, laid back and very southern. :)
The staff is helpful, and the campus is breathtaking. Oh, and did I say HOT!

Pirate for Life.... Now

Can't recommend more highly the ECU Honors College and the amazing program they offer to top students.

Visiting our freshman

By MJDBoston |

Nice campus, located next to downtown area. Always enjoy walking across the common area from one end of campus to the other. Nicely maintained facilities.

An amazing College experience.

By AshleyLynn2121 |

East Carolina offers everything a student could ask for. It's an amazing school with wonderful programs in both academics and sports. The people here are wonderful and school is a great size with great variety of students. I couldn't be happier my daughter attends this University and i know she wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The school spirit is outstanding.

Music, plays and art programs

By Betty G |

ECU has the most amazing Music and Arts program of any I have seen outside of NYC. Most programs occur during the school session (Sept-April). The talent is amazing and the ECU program serves as a training ground for those wishing to make it "on Broadway." The first play we saw, when we moved here three years ago, had it's set designed by the person who won the Tony Award for the sets on Jersey Boys. The classical music is outstanding, as is the jazz. For Chamber Music, I do believe you will never see better anywhere than at the Four Seasons series. The founder and violinist, Ara Gregorian, is incredibly talented and those he brings to the stage are the best in the world. This may sound like an overstatement, but try it...you will not be disappointed. Note: At ECU - 1. There are ongoing free and reasonably priced performances, lectures and exhibits. 2. There are also excellent children's programs....those are limited in number. For best information, I usually go to my computer and type in: ECU AND: School of Music, or ECU AND Plays, Chamber Music, Jazz, SRAPAS, art exhibits, lectures or such.

ECU is Crazy Fun

By cheermom9799 |

Go Pirates Argggg!!!!! Football is King here. Family friendly and a lot of fun.

Get there early and be ready to tailgate......

Baseball game

By Heather Eric B |

The security people in the stadium are the rudest people there are I will never go back there for an event again

Best University

By David Liang |

Home of the pirates, Good student hall and friendly staffs at the University would definitely recommend a friend to go to this school.

I live nearby, love the campus, love the spirit

By DKR228 |

ECU is one of the most 'spirited' schools I've ever known. Something of an underdog, they consistently outperform. Growing campus, wonderful community support, and room to grow in a medium sized city. As a VT grad, I've admired their spirit for 30 years.

Campus Visit

By Kant S |

beautiful campus and a great number of eateries close to campus. lots of traffic around game days though!

Go See ECU for Pretty Campus, Nice People

By MAGPie907 |

Beautiful campus, parking is difficult. There for college visit; everything was as expected. It seems like the town IS ECU and just loves it!

February break 2022

By jason d |

Great school, great campus. All needed amenities for school. Students were polite , and helpful. Athletic fields were amazing.

Huge addition

By Vi S |

This college is undergoing an addition, The install in the state of the art HVAC system in this new portion of the building. It's great to see that this university is make an extra effort to build green.

Nice hosts

By Keith H |

Went for the ECU-VT game, and it was my first visit to the field. Nice facilities and reasonably priced concessions. Friendly folks, though I was surrounded by fellow Hokies in my section. Clean restrooms as well. I would not hesitate to return for a game in the future.

Excellent educational experience

By Joani Z |

My three children have all graduated from ECU and I've worked at the Brody School of Medicine for over 20 years. This university provides a excellent educational experience for all degrees. Student life is varied and robust. Their motto "Servire" means to serve and it is integrated throughout all parts of the university. I love this place!

graduate, not much changed

By creekbrat |

as a dec 2000 graduate i can say that although there have been some structural changes, ecu is still a confusing stung out mess.
the campus is pretty and there are some really good professors/teachers/staff.
on the other hand it is not very community friendly. they do allow community to host dance and other arts activities, but very hard to get parking and charge steep fees to those groups.
we went to a swim meet 2 weeks ago and there was absolutely no room inside to watch.
where we once parked for having to drive from way off campus and paid for our parking pass, now all those areas are for staff. there is no road through campus anymore. it makes it where you must walk very long distances or depend on bus system and still have to pay for parking passes.
there are still very old, outdated, non refurbished, buildings.
after visiting other campuses with teens lately ecu needs to step it up a little.

Friendly, and lovely campus

By Emma C |

I visited here for work, so I can't comment on the academic aspect. However, the staff I work with have always been so friendly, and the campus was lovely- it felt like a real community. I got lost and people stopped, checked I was ok, and generally were very friendly and polite

ECU is an excellent choice!

By klm6 |

ECU is an excellent choice for a college education and a great value as well (even for out of state students). We are happy to say our daughter will be a Pirate this fall!

ECU beat my team (NCCU)

By Clifton L |

They are a class act! Very nice people! The campus is great. The fans support is large. the tail gate party was fun and large.

Great tour guides!!!

By Jaime S |

Ashlynn and Abby, both seniors this year were awesome tour guides. My daughter feel in love with the school! The campus is very pretty, very easy to naviagate and everyone seemed friendly.

Ecu Rocks! Go Pirates!

By samcfar7 |

While I have never had more fun at a college football game there is a beautiful campus with lots of other activities! Check out the ballets, plays and music that is available. Don't limit your scope but if you visit during football season- you have to come see a game and have fun!!

Graduated from ECU with my BSBA 2014

By Brandie A |

ECU's online business program was well organized and I would definitely recommend it to working adults looking to return to school. I never once had to visit the campus and was able to easily transfer to ECU and complete my degree hassle-free!

ECU

By Rhonda O |

My husband is a grad and my daughter is a current student. The size of the university is nice--not too big or too small. Lots of different majors. Small town community which is all behind the university. Great athletics. Offers chance to be a part of fine arts (theater, symphony, etc).

Great College for Distance Education as well as On-Campus Classes

By MWB2011 |

I just graduated from ECU's College of Education. I was a distance education student with college transfer from my local community college. The Distance Education (DE) program was fantastic for my geographic location and my need to remain employed. Many of the courses were a challenge but I was fortunate to have had great professors and a fantastic group of classmates. My professors were helpful and I could tell they really wanted to see their students succeed. ECU is probably the best choice for preparing students to become teachers. I highly recommend their program.

Go Pirates!

By reclined992016 |

I love taking people to their first ECU football game. I make sure we get in Dowdy-Ficklen early so they can experience all of the pre-game activities. I always hear after the game, I had no idea that ECU was that big, wow, I am definitely returning. Go Pirates.

Pleasantly surprised

By wendrawoman |

What a lovely campus, and little town. We did not expect to like it as much as we did. Campus was great, definitely felt the school spirit. Some of the out shirts of campus appeared to be a little rough. People were friendly- thumbs up.

A great place where passion and education make a great mix.

By charliethepirate |

This university has been a part of my life since birth. I have made livelong friends and even met my wife because of ECU. Everyone involved with ECU is passionate (or becomes very passionate) because of all of the things that ECU provides nationally and especially regionally to Eastern North Carolina. I will always be thankful to have been a part of and still be a part of ECU and would encourage anyone considering a university to attend or work at to give ECU a look.

Great campus

By daboccikidd01 |

I was a patient of ECU School of Dental Medicine. The instructors are very knowledgeable and the students eager to learn. Recommend it to all people who want quality dental work at cheap prices.

Low expectations - pleasantly surprised

By Bronson B |

We were in Greenville, NC - so we stopped to see ECU - home of the Pirates. We had low expectations - mainly due to the poor pictures (Winter, no leaves, dreary) on this site. Additionally, we are new to NC and had never heard of this university. Wow, we were pleasantly surprised. Large campus, beautiful quad, green spaces, consistency in architecture (new/old buildings) - wonderful student union and atheltic facilities, etc. Several buildings, restaurants, apartments seem brand new and there are active, new construction projects. This appears to be a very healthy and vibrant university. Students were all decked out in ECU gear and were very nice/welcoming. Life in Greenville seems to revolve around ECU - which makes for a fun college town experience. Overall - surprised and impressed.

Excellent University!

By Mary Brauer |

I have attended this university. The professors, students, and workers are absolutely fabulous! The food is pretty decent, and there are many dining options. Professors are very helpful and encouraging. There are students of all backgrounds, including many international students. The campus is absolutely gorgeous! If you are a student, don't walk under the Cupola, the dome, or you won't graduate in four years, as the myth has it.

ECU Visit to Homecoming game

By Sabrina S |

Great visit to the Athletic Department - the school has a wonderful campus and program. At Minges coliseum there is an interactive touch screen basketball game that my children enjoyed.

Outstanding Educational Institution

By Jim H |

ECU provides a quality education for serious minded students. It is the second largest university in North Carolina and graduates more teachers than any other college in the state. In addition to education, its College of Business trains future business leaders in unique ways. The School of Medicine often produces more general practitioners than any school in the world. Their research in medicine is also outstanding.

We love ECU!

By JoPark |

ECU is a great university. It has good, strong academic programs. It also has loyal fans - football is the biggest sport. Attending games is a lot of fun!
It also has tremendous art, dance, theater and music programs. We go to plays, dance performances and concerts. They are wonderful - we are always impressed!
ECU has a library with state of the art technology. Students and faculty are always welcoming. Also, there is the medical school and all its facilities. What a great place to visit - or become a part of ECU!

Revisiting campus

A University with a small town feel

By Die-Hard-ECU-Fan |

ECU is a great school. Greenville, the city around it supports this school in everything that it does. Purple and gold is everywhere in this town. You can't get away from the school spirit at ECU, but what is the best is the atmosphere and the desire of the faculty/staff for students to succeed!! They make you feel welcome from minute one and the student body really goes the distance to make you feel like they want you here!

Beautiful campus, excellent sports facility

By c5mjb |

We went to a basketball game at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum, right next to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Traffic was manageable (not horrible like most athletic events), and parking easy to find. The arena is attractive, modern and easy to navigate within, and the staff helpful. I didn't find an elevator to the upper level, which can be a problem if you're handicapped and don't have courtside seats.

nice and growing university

By HeatherDublinOH |

This is a very nice university. It is a growing school, lots of building or renovating going on. The medical facilities are expansive. The rec center was very nice. Unable to get into the library, but I am sure it was good.

Great Looking Campus

East Carolina University has a great fan base for football. Great undergraduate and graduate degrees ranging from education to sports medicine to asian studies and everything in between. If you are in the area for a a brief visit also check out the campus it is beautiful.

Great place to eat and shop

By RJay2love |

I happen to live her in Greenvilee coming from a small town of New Bern. The mall is a great size for this area. Most people in the area come here to shop. They have Belk JC penny and victory secret just to name a few of the stores. The food court is a nice size for this mall. Has a nice selection of different foods from pizza check filet to Asiain foods. Come out and enjoy our mall.

Nice Campus

By James D |

Very nice picturesque campus. The campus large but not difficult to navigate. We were there on a Sat and there were many activities going on.

Really nice athletic facilities

By steve p |

I was impressed by the size of their football stadium and the banquet room facilities that look right out on to field. The basketball arena is also exceptionally nice too. Really nice facilities for athletics and all grouped together.

Very Upbeat

By Hbc8 |

Enjoyed touring the campus. Shopping at the bookstore was a treat, very well run and organized. Very crowded but well organized.....plenty of parking available. All in all a beautiful campus but unfortunately in August it is just too hot to get to see as much as you hoped

Nice campus in the heart of Greenville, NC

By SEAN D |

If you're in Greenville for any length of stay, a stop onto the campus of ECU is well worth your time. A classic campus green surrounded by lovely buildings. Grab a coffee in their student center or any Pirate Booty from the bookstore and enjoy the sites and sounds of campus.

Wonderful tour of East Carolina University for my son who was accepted for Fall of 2017. The campus, the athletic stadium, the student guides were wonderful. Check out all the buildings and history that is there,

Nice campus but nothing more

By Tammie W |

Did the campus tour. Waste of time. Far too many on tour for 1 guide to accommodate. Folks meandering around campus were self absorbed and not friendly. Feel very cold. Striking from the list.

Not a better game experience any where on the eastern coast of North Carolina. The Pirates know how to do football. Great Tailgating and good fun make this a must see event.

I have been a student and faculty at ECU. It is cutting edge with constant growth and evolution with nearly 30,000 enrollees. Parking is problematic but that's typical for most any university. There are some great performing arts programming at a very low cost.

My Alma Mater

By Victoria B |

I love ECU, but after graduating in 2005 I've only made a few visits back. It's probably been 8-9 years since I was last on campus. I recently spent a day walking through campus and checking out all of the updates on campus. I visited my old dorms and Wright Auditorium and Mendenhall Student Center. I stopped in the bookstore and took a stroll down the hallways of the dance building (my old home). It was an awesome day! There's something about campus that always made me feel welcomed and that hasn't changed! It was great to re-live the memories!

Great theater department

By shjames38 |

Great theater department with great plays. Not so good football team this year, maybe next year with a new coach

Go Pirates!

By angelabrahma |

Beautiful university. Full of diversity, charm and unique shops/restaurants. Can get confusing with the one way streets and construction

Band Camp

By silverlakes4 M |

My youngest went to ECU band camp this year and loved it. Great staff, atmosphere, learning and meeting new friends.
Campus very clean and close to everything.

ECU Pirates Baseball

By CoolBeansinNC |

We love watching the Pirates play baseball in Clark-LeClair Stadium! The Holiday Inn Express is located near the campus, as well as great restaurants and shopping.

College Visit

By Jay P |

Beautiful lush campus, large but not too large. Students, staff, and locals are very respectful and friendly. Can't wait to see the new Student Union and football stadium upgrade

ECU Football

By Howarddg |

The introduction of new coach Scotty Montgomery running through the Undaunted ECU slogan was the exciting kickoff of this football season. The city of Greenville NC and its crazed fans truly support this team, win, lose or draw.

So far, this season has been a roller coaster ride. Mostly downs but the coach, new quarter and players have shined with a few big home wins.

My daughter

By Barry S |

My daughter is a junior there after graduating community college. Pirate nation is awesome and she loves it!!! :)

Grandaughters softball team got to play in the Lady Pirates Stadium, very nice facility, hopefully some on our team will get to play there in a few years.

Continously growing

By Andy Blease |

The City is based around the college. It is ever expanding and is a big part of the city. It's hard to go anywhere and not see something about ECU in town.

Four Seasons Chamber Music

By MC Thomas |

What a beautiful performance featuring 2 pieces written by Brahms and Mozart for clarinet. So happy my husband and I were able to attend!

We have loved every trip to ECU. Greenville has so much to do, great shopping and dining. We spend a lot time in Greenville since our daughter lives here.

Nicer than its reputation

We had a great time here visiting the campus and I can't wait to come back for game day! It's a nice campus that's a perfect size with many offerings. I highly recommend a visit and enjoying the Pirates!

Normal joe campus

The musical steps in front of the library are fun and if they'd ever get the cuckoo clock fixed I'd be happy to bring visitors to see it.

We are the Pirates of ECU!

My alma mater. Parking isn't great, the side streets are now blocked off to force you to pay for parking....but i love my school. always go for events and such.

A great place to live and learn

By Randy S |

As an alum I am very partial. The place is fantastic. Football game day atmosphere is the best!! The community really supports the university.

Great University On the Way Up

By JMfromIndianLand |

This is a wonderful university with a wide range of programs due to great leadership of Chancellor Jenkins and later Chancellor Howell. The academic side is greatly enhanced by the social science departments, the medical school, the fantastic nursing program, speech pathology curriculum, and sports medicine. The sports program is very robust and successful in football (except recently), baseball, and women's softball. The university made a huge mistake by firing Ruffin Mc Neil who had taken the football team to post season bowl games every year of his tenure there. The football program was also very successful under the tutelage of Skip Holtz, son of the famous Lou! The university is very creative in its dining programs for students, as well as housing, and its Honors Progam.

ARGH! Shall I say anything else?

The athletic facilities are fantastic. From the Recreation Center to the athletic fields. The recreation center has an indoor and outdoor pool, indoor climbing wall, indoor track, weight room etc. It’s one of a kind. The campus is a good size. I've had fun times visiting my son and going to the football games. Now that he has graduated I'm going to miss them. The bus system for the college students is excellent. Seriously they don't need a vehicle to go to class unless they find a job off campus. My point is the buses go just about everywhere around town. Downtown is small but there are a few good places to eat and of course not my personal experience but I hear the college students love the bars. The University Book Exchange (UBE) is a one of a kind store for all your pirate gear and supplies all the way down to the Greek Life. There are plenty of places to eat on campus. Two dining halls, Chick-fil-A express and a Chili's too as well as some other choices. There is a Bank of America ATM on campus. There are plenty of dorms to choose from at ECU. Some are co-ed and some are not. What I liked about them is they come with a microfrige and I didn't have to save quarters for laundry. The machines were not coin operated. A little nice to have.

Friendly campus

By live4fla |

I liked that the campus not too big so that the kids arent walking far to their classes. I did think that it was a nice campus but a little run-down. It needed to be cleaned up a bit but still pretty.

Beautiful campus

By traveladdict98 |

It's worth a visit to the campus if you're in town--it's very pretty and well maintained with real North Carolina charm.

Great University for young people !!

By DannyWasserman |

My nephew went to ECU in Greenville, NC and got his degree there. It is a nice university in the south and has a nice, but laid back southern hospitality . Great enrollment and lots of degrees to work towards your goal of getting your BA or BS.

Fun time with fans traveling long distances to support our team

By Ray R |

Attended the UConn women basketball game against ECU, It was a great facility and great atmosphere. This is a wonderful place to experience the college atmosphere

summer stroll

By Dalette |

Summer a time to look at the physical plant of the university. Some areas may need staff assistance to gain access but most of the sports facilities are open.

Orientation Week!

By Dean N |

Incredible 2 days at ECU! A beautiful campus and very easy to get around with the ECU transit system of busses. The staff/student advisors were everywhere and awesome! Cafeteria options and quality is incredible! Very organized and so happy my son decided to go here. Stayed at the Quality Inn which caters to ECU parents during orientation.

Beautiful Campus

By kkrezz |

My son is now a Junior at ECU. For being a big school, it still seems like a small college community. It has a beautiful campus with plenty to do. There is plenty of housing off campus. For in state students, it's a steal. Unfortunately out of state is expensive. You do have to be careful just off the campus areas. I get ECU alerts on my phone all the time. My son still says he feels safe. And you can't beat the school year climate.

Greenville is a Pirate Town!

By Lawrence B |

This 30,000 student university is a big part of the lifeblood of Greenville. The campus sprawls through the city and includes historic campus sections, modern med school campuses, and major sports facilities. If you visit Greenville, you won't be far from some aspect of ECU!

GO PIRATES!!

By Duane G |

Love the place....the people....the campus....the experiences....the college town feel....friendly city....love it all!!!

We Are the Pirates of ECU!

By Gothospitality |

ECU is amazing the staff and teachers are so nice and the layout of the campus is well thought out! They have made several upgrades to the campus and I am so glad to call myself and ECU pirate!

Parents Weekend

By Russell W |

My wife and I were visiting for Parents Weekend. Our son's dorm seems dated. The men's room on is floor has two stalls, one had a clogged toilet, the other's door was locked from the inside. The rooms are adequate. The campus is nice to walk around. Our son is happy and we're glad for that.

By JoPark |

We love ECU! It's an attractive campus with lots of things to do. Great sports teams and loyal fans. The football games are very exciting. The University also has a wonderful theater program with outstanding plays during the year. The school of music has World class concerts and other musical performances. There are some restaurants on campus and a number of good restaurants nearby. If you are looking for a good education, for a reasonable cost this is the place for you.

ECU Campus Tour

By M H Pridgen |

We had a great tour of the campus which included a visit to the James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at the
Vidant Medical Center. If you ever get a chance to visit this, take it, you'll be glad you did. We also visited the new Student Center and had lunch here and then a casual walk over to the fountain after a visit to the library. Our tour ended with a visit to the athletic facility. This place sure has grown and changed since I was a student.

Beautiful campus!

By BriaNicole |

I actually graduated from East Carolina in 2002. If you are visiting Greenville then you must visit this campus. It's such a beautiful place to go for a stroll. There are tons of old trees which provide plenty of shade. There is a mixture of old and new architecture throughout the campus and both are beautiful. East Carolina has tons of school spirit so you have to go to a game and cheer on the pirates. It's a football school for sure but there's still school spirit w/ all other sports as well.

They spam and junk mail you to death

By Charles Ash |

They tell your kid they will make 120k per year. After graduating at the top of the class, my little snowflake ended up making about half of that. So who do you thing ends up with the student loan bill? Beware of promises !!!!!! The school also sells out your personal information to the spammers. Otherwise it is a beautiful campus and a great party town!

Great Education for the Price

By U5802SAwilliamk |

Excellent student activities. Academics match or are better than other education institutions in the state. Student housing in process of modernizing and more inviting.

Beautiful

By drmr7788 |

We went to ECU, Wichita State men's basketball game and we were impressed with the people we met and how beautiful the campus was. Being handicapped, it was nice they had a cart shuttle to help those in need. The gym appears to be older, but was clean and well kept. Those working in the concessions and the gate were very helpful

ECU, the Gem of the East

By TabiMiller |

East Carolina is the gem of the east in terms of education and community. Professors encourage you to push the mental limits and create. The clubs and organizations give you a chance to network and socialize. And ECU is football crazy. Home game days are a city affair. They have an excellent baseball team as well.

Best Theater Department in the State

By David S |

ECU is known for its medical school and its advancements in online education. But it's not quite so widely recognized for the excellence of its theater department. And that's a tragedy. Theater students, apply here!

Go Pirates!

By rlupton2015 |

Great athletic spirit for football, baseball, basketball, and many other sports. Great variety of classes are available. Top notch medical care and research.

great campus

By Ronald M |

I went to a sporting event and it felt just as good as if I was at Carolina or State. The university is top notch

Quite a bit to do

By fsu23phd |

Ok, disclaimer: I have been working here since August 2013 (it is now October 2013). I moved here from West Texas A&M University. ECU’s campus is SO MUCH better. Beautiful trees and landscaping everywhere! Check out the recreation center, this is like a luxury gym (minus a sauna, they need to add a sauna). The library is huge and welcoming to everyone, there is something going on most weekends. (We did a lantern festival in September where they launched paper lanterns with candles into the air, and my daughter got to launch one into a lake at the North Rec Complex).

There is a fair amount of dining on campus, anyone can use one of the dining halls. I have used West End before Its pretty cheap for all you can eat, and they have a great number of options each day. They also have a Chilis Express on campus. I like going there (honestly b/c they have a faculty/staff only room with lots of memorabilia from former Pirate athletes).

Right now there is a fair amount of construction going on. They are building a new student center with lots of recreation and lunge space, plus offices for student groups, etc, once that is done, it’s going to be very nice. The construction does get into the way, but hopefully it won’t be a problem for long.

On the other side of campus, the football stadium is pretty good! You can walk right in if there isn’t a game going one, I saw some students just running on the stairs in the stadium for exercise. That’s pretty cool!

If you find yourself in Greenville, and need to take a stroll, stop by ECU. Parking is a challenge, but after 5 or on weekends you should be A-OK.

Better than expected

By catnip_tea |

We recently took our high school senior to ECU for the campus tour. We were pleasantly surprised at the campus. Thought it would feel bigger, but actually did not feel too big. It's the third largest university in attendance in NC.
Facilities were nice and everyone we encountered were friendly. ECU moved up on our daughter's lists of Colleges.
