Lots of activities for all ages. The aviation displays are very good.Tornado simulator was much liked.

This is a very neat place to visit while in town. There is a lot of things to see within the building and good shows to watch too.

This is a very neat place. It is much better to have a child with you as a lot of the items are for children to explore. But we had a great time. The shark exhibit was what we went for and that did not disappoint!

A must for families. Stroller friendly. Lots of activities. Birthday parties can be scheduled for all youth. Hands On Science, with plenty of Volunteers to guide you and your family or group at various Displays.
A working model of a Kansas Tornado over 10 feet tall.

This place is brilliant! Lots of very interactive things to do & very educational too! Fun stuff for kids & adults!

After checking this place out online we were expecting a little more out of it. We had a good time and it was well worth the price for admission but just seemed to fall a little short for us.

Exploration Place exhibits are always changing and the constant exhibits never get old for "kids" of all ages. We've purchased annual passes for our children's families and it's their most anticipated Christmas gift each year.

Awesome building on the river, interesting spread out layout. Exploration place has many traveling exhibits, not a lot that are mainstays, which I think can be good and bad. I like the interactive exhibits for kids. The grand hall is used often for wedding receptions and events and if you have large parties gets extremely crowded, especially if a travelling exhibit cramps the space. Price is average to moderate depending on the options of what you want to do that day (movie, star dome, etc). Food is expensive and mediocre "bar" food.

This was a great place to bring children. Kids were very entertained. Adults learned a lot too. Would definitely come back here. Very clean. Lots of interactive displays.

Hands on science at its best. Wichita has been known for aerospace technologies for years. The flight simulators and experiments around them are fun for anyone. Me 7 yr old grandson loved the traveling exhibit about physics of skateboarding. While the 2yr old was enjoying the castle. My favorite part is Kansas in miniature. Love it!

Lots of interesting things to do for adults and kids. Take the time to see it all. The film was super.

This is an interactive museum with 4 wings, some of which are more interesting than others, depending on the age of the child (if you're going with one).
There's a medieval area (with a small catapult you can fire), a place about flight, a large miniature of a town in Kansas with moving trains, and a place where you can build buildings with little wooden blocks which was fun.
My 3 y/o liked the puzzle area and the medieval area, but was mostly bored with the rest of it. I guess it's geared more towards older children. He still had lots of fun though.
Come with older children to maximize this place's potential!

My grandchildren love exploration place. so many interactive exhibits. great for all ages. Had a hard time getting kids to leave.

This is a good place to take children for a hands on learning experience. Heck their website to see what they have currently available.

We truly had such a blast here and my kids did everything we spent about 3-4 hours including watching the Shark Show in the amazing dome. We went back the next day to watch the Panda Show which was also Amazing. Its a must go in Wichita and we will be back. It was clean and the workers was so nice.

Interesting exhibits but only for kids under 14. Description says for "all ages", but our college aged boys were bored and embarrassed to be there. Waste of money for what was offered.

This place is so much fun. I was afraid my old kids wouldn't like it but they had a blast as well. Definitely do the dome because it's a great experience.

This museum has travelling exhibits and some favorites that have been there from day one. Make sure to check out a movie in the dome when you are there and they have a fantastic gift shop.

It was so interesting and full of a variety of displays with different types of education and activities, all three of my grandkids, ages 15, 11 & 5, had a wonderful time! Lots of science and history, presented in fun and hands on ways that the kids were happily exhausted when we left.

This was very educational and the kids had a lot of fun. We saw the life size dinosaurs, and they were very realistic. We shopped at the souvenir shop, and we're surprised that the prices were so reasonable. We will definitely be going back again!

Went with my nieces little kids. Lots of things to do and see. Learn about science without really knowing that's what you're doing.

We had a great time here and the kids really loved it as well. Mabe not as big as some places, but everything they have here is excellent. Well worth the money. They are on top of their game at this place. Keep up the great work. Loved the kids play area. That castle set up is the best I have ever seen.

Exploration Place has ongoing exhibits in science and other areas! There are sites where children can try to solve a problem. There is usually an outstanding exhibit to teach children and adults. The current one is Rescue where individuals can participate in Fire, Storm, Sea, etc. rescues. The grand-kids are always interested in the Aviation section by exploring the inside of an airplane and pretending they are pilots. Their enthusiasm is always inspiring to see their interest each time!

Exploration place is really wonderful. There are a ton of activities for all ages. Neither of my kids get bored there - and always get excited when we can go! They have a play area in there and so many exhibits. The displays, attractions, and interactive educational activities change regularly giving you a fresh reason to return. The employees have always been very patient with my children and with other groups that I've been with. The price is rather on the high side for us, but that is the only downfall, and there are many places around Wichita that often offer specials on ticket pricing, including the library. Even if the price is high, it is truly worth it. The price is the only reason we're not there more often! Great place to visit!!!

We greatly enjoyed our visit. A bonus was that we received a reciprocal admission discount by virtue of our hometown science museum membership--check to see if your local children's/science museum participates (must be at least 90 miles away). The building design on the river is striking, featuring lots of natural light and vistas. They have a variety of exhibits (easily 2 hours worth) that are up to modern standards, with a focus on interactive learning. There also are a couple of play areas to blow off steam. Staff were friendly. Convenient, free surface lot parking. We will recommend to others.

My toddlers love the castle area and the 5 and under section.. It is fun if you go on a slow day.. However it seems busy 9 out of 10 times... Also the 5 and under section is very much a suggestion and not really adhered to.. Which led to my son getting punched in the face by a much bigger child.. Not a fan of leaving with a bloody child.. Also on the weekends in the spring it is scoop busy... It's unavoidable that someone will catch a bug.. Which may be unavoidable at a place for kids.. I don't know. Great for the cold months..

Took an 11 and 13 year old. They both loved it, along with me! Great mix of exhibits. Boeing has an amazing exhibit on aerospace. Shark exhibit, info on Kansas geology, a huge miniature Kansas town with trains and play areas for the little ones. Certainly worth the visit. Not much on food, only a few hot dogs and snacks, but you can bring your own and eat at tables by the river. Obligatory gift shop.

We used to be members and decided to cancel it because nothing ever changed. 5 years later, my feelings haven't changed. Much needed renovations and changes need to be made. Good to visit every 3-5 years or if they have special exhibits.

Just got a membership and are thrilled with it. Great exhibits throughout the year. We never tire of the medieval play section or the puzzle area! One of our other favorite areas is the Veterinary hospital. Highly recommend visiting to anyone!

We are a group that includes a younger child and a senior. The interactive displays kept everyone's interest going. We especially liked trying to fly the Wright brothers plane and the other small plane simulator (I think it was a Cessna). The guitar display was neat for the family member who plays the instrument. Some of the displays looked older, but were popular nonetheless. We decided to leave for lunch and come back later, and this was not a problem as long as we kept our receipt. This is a great place to spend the day.

This is a wonderful place for the wee ones to learn and explore. Very crowded the last time we were there, and some parents need to attend parenting classes, several very misbehaved children on the loose here at times.

I was afraid the kids would get tired of the museum, but they beg and beg to go back. They also bring in new exhibits that the kids love to go check out. The medieval area is so much fun and the miniature town could entertain my daughter for hours. We ended up buying a family pass because of how much our kids like to go.

Regardless of what attractions they are featuring, Exploration Place offers something for everyone in the family.

Fun place for families of all ages. There are rotating exhibits in addition to the normal ones. My favorite is the train room, where they have a huge model train exhibit. Exploration Place is also close to the Keeper of the Plains, which is a must visit if it's nice outside. If you do go for a walk, make sure to find the hidden troll on the river. I do not care for the mini golf, it is very small and pricey.

Took my niece here and she had a great time. She enjoyed everything there was to do. I was impressed by the workers sanitizing everything since this is definitely a “hands on” type of place. It was nice to get in free using the app also!

This is an awesome place for kids and adults alike. Loved the show and can't wait to bring my grand kid's here to see a show. Staff worked very hard accommodating everyone. Will definitely come back!

We love this place. They always have new exhibits and hands on activities for the kids. Such a cool place my 6 yr old grandson asks for a membership renewal each birthday! Come check it out. It's on the river and even has some mini-golf behind it. Great time!!!

Take the time to visit this interesting science center, especially for children in grades 3-12. The Center has several hands-on exhibits the focus on flight. You will also find displays on Kansas geography and medieval life housed in a three-story castle.

Kids will love this place. They have a miniature golf, as well as a domed theater and many exhibits including a great one on flight. Beautiful building.

A well-kept facilities with great customer service. The museum and its exhibits are amazing, and my kids and I especially love the IMAX theater. Great place for a long day of looking at interactive exhibits.

We decided to visit Exploration Place one rainy afternoon. The kids had lots of fun running from one exhibit to the next. There were lots of things for them to interact with and they really had fun. It was nice because the place wasn't overly crowded or overly stimulating. I think that there was just enough for the kids to do without them getting tired and frustrated.

This was an affordable and enjoyable family day out, with something for everyone. Our 12 year old enjoyed it a lot. Parking was convenient and free. Facilities are clean and modern. The science museum is housed in some stunning buildings alongside the Arkansas River. In places it feels like you are right out there in the water. There are a lot of exhibits, nearly all of them full of hands on interactives. There were live science demos and we enjoyed a movie in the giant dome theater.

The zoo in Wichita is great too - but who wants to be outside all day in Wichita in July?! The Exploration Place is tons of fun, has a little bit of something for everyone, and is really reasonably priced. We went twice in the 5 days we were staying in Wichita. My three year old is in love with this place.

Lots of interactive displays, designed for kids make this a favorite place to visit with the grandkids. There are rotating exhibits (currently the "Science of Ripley's Believe it or Not"), and fairly frequently updated permanent exhibits. The aviation area was recently redone. Its also interesting to adults who can use it as a teaching tool. Very much worth the price of admission.

This is a great museum to explore lots of fun exhibits that appeal to kids of all ages. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a science museum that kids will love.

This hands-on Science and Children's Museum provides hours worth of fun and learning for people of all ages. I couldn't get my family out of each exhibit areas. The architecture alone is stunning and something you wouldn't expect to see in Kansas but the hands-on experiences of aviation, Kansas and imaginary world really brings out the kids in the adults too. This top notch museum is a must see when.your in Wichita, Kansas.

The great nieces had a blast. They loved the flight activities, the inside a tornado tube, and the Ripley's exhibit. We spent about 4 hours there but could have stayed all day!

Enjoyable activity for a hot or rainy day. Each section offered the proper level of interesting material for all people. Kids could try things and play, while parents could learn interesting facts along the way.

We took our son's family here on a hot summer day. The kids loved the interactive activities and we couldn't pull them away from the castle. Surprisingly, the adults became big kids too in the flight exhibit, delightfully participating in the flight activities. We also attended one of the films showing there for an additional fee, which was geared for young children and okay.

this a great place to take your kids or grand-kids. they have a lot of hands thinks for the little kids. can be a little pricey.

Have been here on multiple occasions and am NEVER disappointed!! Our most recient visit was for the Dino exhibit this spring. The grand kids LOVE it!!! (even if the animation was a little scary LOL). The grounds are always well kept and the building and movies provided are a wonderful break between all that walking around. Could easily spend all day there and easily two if you wanted to see everything and watch every movie. Although not getting "stuck" in the children's area would be helpful. The grand kids could have spent all day in the castle and toddler area and been happy to never leave. LOL Well worth the price of admittance!!!

Great place in Wichita for the family! Took my family and the grandparents for the day. Kids had fun exploring the place. A few of the activities did not work too well, but overall loved the variety of activities and things to try with the kids!

Exploration place has a great variety of exhibits that appeal to kids of all ages and adults. The activities help understand the "why" of a lot of scientific events or phenomena. Great place to spend time on an outing.
Don't miss it.

Great place to take the kids. They can run all day in the castle, have some fun in the airplane place and also you can trick your friends saying you travel in a private jet IoI (see photos).

I had a lot of fun at the Exploration Place and they had some really cool exhibits. The Kansas In Miniature exhibit was so cool. I loved seeing all the mini replications of the places in Kansas. The aviation and rescue exhibit were both pretty cool too. I will definitely be going back for another visit.

This is actually a quite small museum. There’s lots of hands on activities, something for all ages. There’s an aviation area that includes a real plane you can sit in as well as some plane simulators. There’s a combine driving simulation, water play tables, bag toss of bison “poop” bean bags, a pretend vet station, fossil rubbings, and a tornado tube just to name a few things. There’s also lots of educational content. There’s a toy train exhibit of “Kansas in Miniature”. There’s also a 3 story play area for older kids(5+), that’s themed like a castle and has tons of hands on activities. There’s also a younger kids area themed mostly like a farm homestead and market, including a tractor the kids can repair and an area they can pretend to be underground with the roots of potatoes and carrots. There’s also a really young kids area (<1) with age appropriate activities. There’s additionally an area with those mind challenge puzzle things, a rotating exhibit area that changes, and mini golf. This museum is an ASTC member, so if the museum is more than 90miles from both your home and the museum you bought your membership at, you can get in free or at a discount depending on the size of your party.

Great place to take the kids and let then go through the exhibits. I really liked the model train town. The tornado exhibit was interesting. A lot of science you can get involved with. Balance, heart rate, and some old time myths about smoking.

Exploration Place changes their exhibits every few months. Some are better than others but it's always a great place to spend a Saturday with the kids. They're sure to learn lots AND have fun doing it, no matter the exhibits.

My three year old enjoyed the visit
Alot of great exhibits and near the keeper of the Plains and plenty of free parking
A good day trip for a family

Exploration Place, I believe, has good intentions with their vision. It is kid friendly, My biggest complaint with this attraction is the majority of the time you go, there is several items in the traveling exhibits that do not work. Things that are a permanent part of the exhibit has missing items and also things that do not work. The miniature town is very nice, and the castle that you can climb is also a big hit. The rest is mediocre. Areas with stuffed animals, dress-up cloths etc, has a dirty feel and look to them. The area around Exploration Place and the building it's self is very pretty and worth a look. It's worth a one time visit, but that's about it. Wish I could support it more, but compared to other museums I have visited, it is not that impressive.

It's an informative science museum, that hosts several events all around the like death by chocolate, engineering or science events. It is a quite interactive place that will keep adults and kids involved. Nice place to visit. .

Definitely oriented for young people. At the time I went there was a Super Heroes exhibit featuring Batman, an interactive Batmobile, Iron Man, Superman statue, some super hero games (ie, how fast can you run, how strong are you, etc), and a Hulk Statue up a very steep, long flight of stairs.
The highlight of the trip were the two play areas - a Medieval-themed area with a catapult shooting balls at a target overhead, and a Preschool area with lots of crawling areas and toys. Although it was aimed at Preschoolers, there were elementary-aged kids running around here. There was a Science Guy show in the hallway that was interactive with the kids. The gift shop was small and in the back was a toy area for babies.
In the back of the building were dinosaur-themed displays and geological information.
12 year old - Enjoyed the Medieval area, the Super-hero games, and the Science Guy show.
7 year old - Enjoyed the Medieval area.
3 year old - Enjoyed the Preschool area but not much else.

Wonderful learning experience for youngsters. As with many such places some exhibits didn't work, but still a great place to take youngsters.

Lots to see, do and experience! Our kids loved all the activities and learning games and devices. You can certainly exhaust a good few hours here.

This is a great place to take kids, especially if they like to explore or learn new things. If you visit a lot, their annual memberships are very reasonable, just 2 or 3 visits a year for us and it pays for itself.

This is a wonderful museum along the river. It has many traveling exhibits as well as the exhibits that are always there. I think it is interesting for all age groups.

Exploration Place is great place for kids. There are plenty of hands on activities for children.
We enjoyed the Super hero exhibit. You can take pictures with Batman, Ironman, and the Hulk. The wind tunnel was fun.
The Kansas exhibit was neat. I liked the buffalo display.
Exploration Place is reasonably priced for families.
Also, it is near the Keeper of the plains. I would recommend that you do both.

Discover your inner child and have a great adventure as you learn about the world around you. Great place for young children and also for some of us not young "kids at heart". My wife enjoy going here to spend time learning hands on how things work.

We stopped here prior to heading home after a wedding. This was a great morning adventure for our kids. The aviation room was so neat and had lots of interactive exhibits for the kids. My son really enjoyed flying the plane, my daughter loved the potion room in the castle. I would love to bring them back to explore it more in depth. If you have young children this is a very neat experience.

Our kids love going. Lots of interactive things to do and plenty to see. We have been with the schools several times and would love to go with just us so that we had more time to see things.

Stopped by on our way through Wichita. Fun interactive exhibits for all ages. Even the adults had fun with the hands on activities.

Exploration place has so many interactive things for kids. It is educational without the kids even realizing they were learning while having fun.

The girls loved their experience at Exploration Place. Ages 8 & 12. Some things were a little young for the 12 yr old, but they both had a good time!

Great place to take the kids on a family day. The prices were reasonable and we all had a great time! There are plenty of different sections for the whole family to enjoy.

I took my nephews and the great thing is we got there when it opened at 10 then played till noon in the hall of heros it is not for small children under the age of 5 or 6 due to the traveling stuff was like games and are hard for a 4 and 5 yr old to understand but the castle is worth the admission alone they played in it for 2 hours and with the cameras on a tv screen you can feel safe keeping them in sight the airplane section was fun but yet again games a little to advanced for a 4 and 5 yr olds
Great hint we left for lunch and a quick nap then headed back without haveing to pay again and played till they closed!!

If you are looking for a different activity to do with your kids or grand kids, Exploration Place is a nice option. There are usually exhibits that change up every few months. Nice facility and a good way for the kiddos to do "hands on" activities. You even may learn something new!

This is wonderful for both children and adults alike.
There is a great play area for smaller children as well as many interesting areas for preteens.
Exploration Place will show many aspects of both science and fun.

There are many great hands on exhibits. My daughter (9 years old) enjoyed the medieval area and the science show the best. I thought the miniature village with a train going around it was really cool.

A great place to go as a couple as well as with children. Many interesting things to do and see and there is a substantial number of hands on things to do. Only draw back are the number of children that are unsupervised and rowdy. As kids will be kids does not alleviate the responsibility of the adults to supervise.

Had a great time with kids ages 16, 11 and 9. Visited all the exhibits and all of us enjoyed each one. Was a little disappointed that some of the blue man group items were broken. We did purchase a family membership and we're pleased with the military discount they offered too. Good times!

My wife and I went to burn a few hours before we headed to the airport. Outside, it was 100 degrees with a bunch of humidity in the air. It was nice an cool inside, if you do the tornado experience -- it's even cooler! The architecture was awesome, the place is not huge so you won't there all day. We did the Botonica Garden and Exploration Place the same day, we were able to spend enough time at each place and not feel like we wasted any time or money.

Working in aerospace I am always trying to find a way to show my children why it is such a great industry. Now with the new Design-Build-Fly exhibit I just let them explore and learn. Designing an aircraft color scheme, bucking rivets and setting an attack angle or just a few of the things they can do. For kids under 7 the 3 story castle and play area are great regular part of Exploration Place.

Went there for a special event / Death by chocolate. Wine and chocolate and food. Many vendors there advertising catoring etc. But the best part was that we were able to see some of the exhibits they had there. AMAZING! I plan on taking my granddaughter there for an afternoon as I would love to see more! Amazing activities for kids there!

We LOVED the exploration place, we got to do a toddler class all about wheels for my 3 year old, and still had hours to explore after wards! We loved all the rooms, and the hands on experience. We had a hot dog and chips in the small eating area, which was good as well! We would absolutely visit agin!

Lots to see and do here. Science labs, new exhibits often and lots of play areas for exploring. My kids love it here!

This place is awesome. I am a huge fan of art and science museums and this one did not disappoint. There was so many awesome things to go see and do the only thing is that there were 7 school groups there too and it was too busy for my taste. We also went to violent universe and it was a great planetarium other than the school groups kicking me in the head and being frankly obnoxious. I would recommend going all day packing a lunch and avoid "school field trip days". Neat place will visit again maybe someday.

Exploration Place doesn't get the props it deserves. The facility is clean and beautiful and the exhibits/attractions are both fun and educational. Something for kids of all ages, too!

Maybe fun for older kids but, it was a waste of money to me. Older kids were just running wild and almost hit into my 2 year old too many times. The place didn't have much to see or do. Mostly puppet show areas, slides and puzzles. They did have a dedicated spot with a slide and some blocks and stuff, for children 5 and under to play in but, kids kept coming in that were older than 5 so we had the same issue in there. That area was basically an indoor playground. My daughter did enjoy the slide but, I felt we could've had more fun at a park, for free. There seemed to be a little more to do for the older children but, really not even that much for them. For $12.50 a ticket it just wasn't that great.

I Took 4 yr old granddaughter for early afternoon outing. We enjoyed the play and educational items available including the castle. In my opinion the 2-3 o'clock 1 hour pre-K "sights and sounds" was not worth the $7 so I probably will not do that again. It is a good place to take grandchildren but fairly costly.

I loved the art. My husband & son loved the science. We all loved the "hands on" activities. Beautiful views outside the windows. So many things to learn here. I'm so glad we stopped for the afternoon while on our drive home from vacation. It was a great distraction from our 8 hour drive!

My husband and I took our 5 year old grandson there for the Dinosaurs in motion exhibit. After the fear of the life like looking dinosaurs became curiosity, he had a great time moving all parts that he could to make the dinosaurs move. But if that wasn't something that your child wanted to be a part of, there were so many other things to keep them busy and have fun, without them even knowing that they might be LEARNING. Shh, don't tell them this is good, clean, healthy learning. They can fly a plane, be a vet, work on tractors, build a water shed dam or be in a tornado. Lot's of fun. My Grandson asked me twice now, when we are going back to see the dinosaurs. But when the dinosaurs leave, a traveling exhibit will take it's place, for more learning while having fun! I highly recommend it.

We came to Exploration Place as part of our family reunion. It was a hot weekend so being inside was great. There were several exhibits of mini inventors there that weekend that was interesting to view before getting to the main exhibit hall. All family members that went through enjoyed the exhibits. There was good seating for the older family members. We were there about 2 hrs which was enough time for almost everyone.

Great place to see and learn. Wonderful exhibits, hands on activities, gift shop.food area, parking is convenient

Exploration Place has made a lot of changes since our last visit.
Our old favorites are still there although a bit rearranged and there is a fantastic new permanent exhibit called Kansas Kids Connect targeted at 0-5 year olds that is amazing. This is not only hands on, but includes playground like features, like a slide, tunnels to crawl in and a structure to climb up, perfect for getting those winter wiggles out indoors. It features a play farm complete with house, chicken coop, barn and tractor. The tractor "needs fixing in order to start" and even has a radio that plays as you "drive" it. Walk through the pool noodle "wheat" to see what discoveries you can make above and below ground in the barn. Harvest the wheat with a combine. Discover the food groups in the house and create a gourmet meal to serve at the tables with elaborate play food. You can buy or sell food at the farmers market once you pick it from garden by the house to create your dishes. The wind tubes and water cycle interactive displays were also a lot of fun. If you have a baby you will love the infant area, a giant meadowlark nest filled with educational baby gadgets. A baby could delight in that area for a long time and can't crawl or toddle off or get run over by overly eager older kids due to the nest walls. There was also a delightful weather station for creating a weather report puppet show and learning about weather. You can also build a community out of blocks or have some fun sensory play. Kansas Kids Connect is a fenced off area with benches by the gate, so you can let your little ones have a good time and relax a bit yourself or nurse a baby. The family restroom is also conveniently nearby. Our kids had a blast, learned a lot and burned off some winter energy!
Love the improvements, looking forward to Blue Man Group and Guitar traveling exhibits coming later this month. Highly recommend this family destination. They also have a great makers space and plenty of stuff for older kids. Those just aren't new.

We visited with a group of 25, kids ranging from 10 years old up to 14 years old, and their parents. We all had fun and the kids were very engaged in the exhibits. The play area outside was a bonus and they ran some energy off before returning to the skating arena for a big synchro skating competition.

Enjoyed the Ripley's exhibit and the oddities displayed. There were a variety of exhibits and something for everyone to enjoy. It was a worthwhile way to spend an afternoon. Staff and volunteers were very helpful directing us to the correct location of the exhibit.

We always love coming here when visiting from out of town. So much amazing STEAM for kids and adults alike to enjoy together. Love this place.

What a great place for a party and other things. We were there over the weekend for a party and it was wonderful. The gift shop is just what you would expect, overpriced toys. But the overall experience is wonderful and the attractions are top of the line. Definitely should go if your are coming to Wichita for a visit!

It is a hit or miss with this place. They have some pretty cool traveling exhibits but not all the time and some of them are not for me. The tickets are a bit on the expensive side but the kids seem to like it.

Little kids love this place. There are traveling exhibits and lots of interactive and educational displays. My kids especially liked playing in the castle and stepping into the tornado simulation. It does seem a little expensive for what you get. We have been to bigger and better children's museums around the country but that being said, it is worth a visit while in Wichita.

Exploration place is a great place for LLS to have their annual event! Great space! Beautiful at night!

This place has something for everyone ...the tornado simulator was pretty neat. There was so much to do and see I couldn't list it all in this. The dome theatre was a one of a kind experience and I loved the many interactive exhibits...Do you know what fear is?? You can understand it a whole lot better by the time you leave here...I could go on and on lol. Just put it on your list of things to do.

First time visit for my elementary school-age grandchildren; they loved it. Spent lots of time in the Ice Age exhibit area, they were awed by the Miniature in Kansas display, and of course, the Avaiation area. We all loved the Titans of the Ice Age movie in the Dome Theatre! We were there for more than 4 hrs. Thanks for a day well spent!

Enjoyed our afternoon visit. Our 2 years olds enjoyed the Kansas section and the castle. Most of the other exhibits were geared toward older children.

I have been here a few times and each time its just a little ho-hum. Maybe its because my kiddos are a little older? I certainly miss the old childrens museum and omnisphere that used to be downtown. Those definitely had more to offer than this current establishment. I will say, the science experaments the two gentlemen put on my kids absolutely loved. If there was something more geared towards that more prevalent than just 'make believe' and Kansas soil, I think that it would fair much better. The dinosaur exhibit that came thru this last summer was by far the neatest thing the boys and I have done and seen here.

My husband took our kids here last year and told me how much fun they had and didn't get to finish because there was so much for every age.we cone to witchita once a year .we really wanted to go to this place this year but didn't get to, so hopefully next April 2017 we can .

No, really. It's cool...nice cold air-conditioning, so it makes a great activity for those scorching triple digit days. There is a big hall with exhibits that rotate out every 6 months or so; there is a superhero exhibit until January 2018. Then it will be replaced by a Rescue exhibit. After that I believe it will be sharks. There's a special area for kiddos 5 and under, which is nice. There's also a dome theater where you can see films about nature, etc. Some of the films cost extra, but they DO have some that are free to view at times, so be sure to ask at the admission desk! A lot of hands-on activities here, which helps keeps the kiddos occupied. There is a snack bar with stuff like hot dogs, popcorn, bottled water, candy. The gift shop carries some neat science/history themed items, among other things. It's usually worth a look! At the far end of the Exploration Place parking lot, there's a walkway to a big bridge. If you venture over the bridge, you can visit the Keeper of the Plains statue.

Nice place with alot of hands on exhibits for kids. The flight simulator was pretty fun to play around with.

The area and idea are grand, however, I expected more for the price. May be great for children but still lacking. Sometimes they have traveling attractions come through, but those are so expensive I wouldn't bother to go.

I took the family here so that our 2 year old could explore and have fun. He had so much fun with all of the different sections of the facility, I think he loved the water table the most. At times we, the adults had more fun than he did. This is a very good place for the whole family to have fun.

i took my kids here when they were little and exploration place had just opened. now, a few years later I went back and was quite disappointed! although they do try and bring new attractions in on a regular basis, many of the displays didn't work, were broken or simply didn't have enough explanation to get them to work. the area around the plains exhibit was dirty, not kept up and no sand for the kids to dig in. once a big draw was the actual weather studio, with live tv and meteorologist, now converted into a lame dairy section with non working milking cow. some area were crowded with little kids, that all seemed to enjoy themselves a lot, but my guest was 11 and not so impressed. she liked the aviation part, but again, some of the displays were not working. for an entrance fee of $12, I believe we could expect a bit more care and entertainment. sad, I really would like to support local attractions, but they have to keep up the high standards from the begiining

We always try to take grandchildren there. Lots for them to do hands on. Their dinasaur exhibit was wonderful. Some of their exhibits need updated, but they are working on it. The children enjoy it. Close the the "Keeper of the Plains" so can do both.

I took my 31/2-year-old granddaughter to Exploration Place. She did not want to go because she had never been there, but when I countered her insistence that she would rather play with toys by saying there were toys at Exploration Place, she agreed. Of course, she had a fine time. She immediately was drawn to the giant mouth which had stools arrayed before it and, above the uvula, a screen asking questions which required that one touch the relevant part of the mouth to answer them. She thought this was great, even though she could not read the questions, but I read them to her and she thrilled whenever my answer was correct. She enjoyed the riding horses outside the castle and the medieval castle exhibit in general-- except for the scary dark passages, did not like my favorite exhibit (miniature Kansas), but actually had the most fun of all in the toddler discovery area which seemed to me to have the furnishings and objects of a standard preschool. Go figure!
Many of the permanent exhibits at Exploration Place become less interesting after multiple visits, and the air flight room is cool but it is hard for little ones to compete with the older children. I would not be too thrilled with recurrent visits, but this was not about me. My granddaughter had a blast and I know she will want to return.

We took my grand kids to this last year (2015). Oh my gosh they had a blast! So many interactive things for kids to do! They especially love the castle inside, they can go to the top and shoot "Canon's" and other things. so many things for different ages and interests! This is one place you wont regret going to! Worth every penny! They have a cute little gift shop too!

Love the exhibits, aviation, architecture, Kansas climate and resources they also have a Kindergarten science area and a traveling exhibit.

Such a fun place to spend the day in Wichita! Very educational and will keep small kids occupied for hours on a rainy day!!

We visited to check out the newly renovated Aviation section and what an improvement! So many captivating and interesting experiences for all ages. Love that my older kids could explore, create and go as in depth as they wanted to while the toddler played happily. Different areas for different ages are intermingled, which is perfect for our family with a 10 year age spread of children, none of the oldest complaining for having to do “baby” things or holding on to a squirmy toddler in an unsafe area to do tween things, everyone was delighted an in view. It is very multi-sensory with not just hands-on exhibits, but sight, sound and even an exhibit involving scents (nothing to taste that I saw but I’m happy with 4 out of 5). The big highlight is the plane fuselage that you can climb up in that looks like it is partially built so you can see the inner structures that go in the body of the plane under plexiglass, inside it there are several video touchscreens with questions you can “ask” a local aviation expert by pressing a question on the screen and then it projects the video on the inside of the plane for you. There are videos of a diverse group of local aircraft company professionals who were interviewed, various titles from different types of engineers to assembly workers and demographic diversity too, really does a good job of inspiring kids by showing a lot of kids that someone similar to them can be in the field. Make different flying crafts and see how well they fly over an air blower, in addition to the previous paper airplane center. Sit in a cross section of a plane cabin and watch an educational video. There is a little airport table with toy planes and luggage movers for the littles. You can fly a drone attached to a stick you can fly. Explore a private jet cabin, pretend you are a passenger and then pilot the jet with interactive touchscreens and have your picture taken once you’ve “reached” your chosen destination. There was a wooden plane for the preschool and toddler set to climb on and stick foam blocks in and a tippy table for older kids to try their hand at building a balanced plane and adding fuel and passengers. This area has so many things to see and learn and do, you could easily spend several hours in this one section alone, especially if you have older children who are interested and read the in-depth information.
The Kansas exhibition area also had some new additions including a bison slide, “bison patty” bean bag toss and items that could be made from various bison parts. The largest addition in this room was the weather mobile that taught about meteorology. The familiar favorites were still there including the pretend vet clinic, water tables and fossil dig. The Kansas in miniature railroad exhibit was decorated for the holidays.
The Hall of Heroes traveling exhibit will still be there through the end of the year. If you have any Marvel or DC super hero fans in your life, they will enjoy it.
We didn’t get a lot of time in the castle or the section designed for kids under 5 on this visit because we spent so much time elsewhere, but we always enjoy what time we have there.
Exploration Place is a great indoor attraction and with their new improvements we were there for 3 hours and it really felt like we could have spent a lot longer there, there were a couple of areas we didn’t even go in and we didn’t spend much time anywhere but the aviation section. You could reasonably spend a whole day there without getting bored, you can pack a lunch or buy food there. Since we are local and have a toddler who naps, we have a membership and prefer to just go for a few hours at a time, but my kids wanted to stay a lot longer this time.

We took our granddaughters (ages 8 and 5) and we all enjoyed it. They had a great time with all the interactive exhibits from the old castle area to the air exhibit. They loved the Dome show! Great place to get those young and our older brains to working. Very nice way to spend part of our day. Also right on the river and excellent view of the Keeper of the Plains statue.

I thought this was a great place for everyone. The kids were kept busy the whole time with fun things to see and do. It's a really good place to check out.

We visited this place because we had a science museum membership in another city. This one is way cool!! It had stuff for older kids which most places lack when we are visiting for the large family groups we are when we travel. It had an area with stuff just about airplanes from when they where first built til now. A few small animals. River and water table which my kids loved trying to figure out the how to get the water to run. They also have a beautiful castle with places for kids to pretend fish, be king and queen, be knights and ride horses, plant a garden, a catapult, and some other ball machine. They also have a 5 and under place for kids with more activities then I have seen at other children's places like this. My kids favorite was the music beats and math of why all the music worked and lights worked that way.

This is a hands-on exhibit and very informative. Designed with kids in mind not adults. The views are stunning though and it does have a mini golf.

We go about every 4 months as they change out the theme in the "traveling" exhibit. The revamped aviation section is great!!! Kids always have a great time and it's time and money well-spent.

We loved the exhibits and the castle is so much fun!!! My favorite was the miniature town!the staff was friendly and helpful!

Hot day + 3 bored grandchildren + 2 grandparents = trip to Exploration Place. We have a grandparents pass so a trip on opening weekend of a dinosaur exhibit was perfect. Lots of areas to let our young explorers roam. Castle room is a favorite of the youngest, while the dinosaur exhibit and flying airplanes satisfied the whole group.

I've been here twice with my daughter. Once for her 1st birthday and again for her second birthday. There were so many kids running around shoving littler kids out of their way. Someone should really supervise the play areas at all times. The stuff is fun, when it works.

My three year old loves this place. It seems that there is always something new to do here along with some old favorites. Mom enjoys it too :)

This is a great place to take the kids for a fun afternoon. They have lots of interactive things for the kids to play with. This museum is free with the ASTC museum pass. They also do daily science shows that teach the kids experiments and allows the children to get on stage. I recommend this place with children from 5-12 years of age.

Very good place to go with small children. We took my 2 year old and he had a blast. The dinasours exhibit was amazing he enjoyed every minute of it.

Fantastic children’s museum!! This place has many hands on learning opportunities for kids to explore and the staff was wonderful!!! They even have a ropes course!

Myself, my husband, our adult son and his two kids, ages 5 and 6, recently traveled from our home in western KS to Wichita for medical appointments. We decided to take advantage of our time there and let the grand kids enjoy some "kid friendly" activities. They had so much fun at Exploration Place and are still talking about it. The variety of things to do was amazing. The displays and "hands on" projects were geared toward kids but interesting for all of us. The 3-D printer was particularly interesting as it has been in the news lately and none of us had seen one. The tornado wind tunnel display had the kids full attention and it was hard to get them to move on. By the time we got to the Spy and Medieval part we adults were exhausted. I think, to see and really take in everything one would have to go back several times. Hopefully, we were able to peak the kid's imagination a little and they will continue to be curious about science and their world.

If you have kids, Exploration Place is a great place to go to where everyone in the family has something to see and do.

This is a really great place to take the kids and even for adults looking to explore the history of the mid west

What a great place for children of all ages. Not only do they have fun but they also learn. Mask is required to enter and they check the temperature. There is a hand sanitaizer at every corner. Very clean and safe.

I have taken my son here several times. They add themed exhibits every few months. We were there for the Dinasaur exhibit. Lots of interactive Dinasaur models. Also they have a Kansas exhibit, avation exhibit, castle exhibit, building exhibit, and more. Located on the Arkansas river downtown area. Also has dome theater with theme related shows, a gift store, and a snack shop.

One of my best friends and I stopped in to kill some time while in Wichita on business. We had a blast! We are both 30-something and kids at heart.
There was great hands-on exhibits of planes and flight simulators, air current simulations, wildlife exhibits, a castle/medieval area with many different activities and an area with more mature type building blocks. There were plenty of activities for toddlers and older children. It was a very nice variety.
There were areas under renovation while we were there. The closed area looked like mathematics displays which made me very disappointed it was closed.
If I visit Wichita again, I would definitely return. I would love to take my 9-year-old. I'm sure he would have a blast.

A lot of fun at this museum and very interactive and informative. My young daughter had a lot of fun and it's always cool to do fun stuff and learn at the same time.

This place is awesome, The grandkids love all the hands on different play areas from toddler on up.You can spend the day .They also sale snacks.

Pretty good place for kids and the price. As previous reviews had mentioned, some things were broken but it looks like they are updating. Nice learning experience for the kids.

If it wasn't for the few new attractions this place brings in it's a one shot wonder in my opinion. We've been to several children's museums and science museums and Exploration place is the only one I haven't wished to return to because it was 'so much fun'.

Kids will have a blast here, and there is enough interesting things for most adults too! Plan to spend at least 3 hours here.

My husband and I took our 9 yr old cousin here a couple of weeks ago and had a blast! She is is still talking about it! They had a traveling spy exhibit that she got to climb through a laser room without setting any of them off, which she managed to do twice! She also loved the castle q uh ere she could run around and play, heck, we were all running around and playing with her. And she chose to see the Great white shark film in their planetary and she was in awe of the 60 foot dome screen! We will be bringing her again.

Wonderful place to take the family for an afternoon. The 'kids' room is a wonderful place to let the little ones run free. So much for them to do.

The whole facilities have had a face lift since my last 2 star rating! Great job in refreshing the facility EP!
Great new kid area with tubes and handkerchiefs. Guitar exhibit was neat! Go out and check it out if you have not been in a while the place is great!

We had children ages 15 to 2 years, there was so much to see and do. We came from out of state to visit family. It was great to see what beauty Kansas has to offer visitors.

Most interesting displays and very good information presentation. Great for the family and especially for the children. Many exhibits that attract the young at hart as well as the children of any age.

My son said this was his very favorite part of our week long vacation! There's so much to do here, and it's reciprocal with the museum we're members of at home, so it was free for us! We stayed about 90 minutes (with no movie or planetarium visit) and still had a couple more things we could have done.

Exploration place seems to keep going down hill. Getting ran down and they need to update stuff. Get used to stuff not working (it's a common theme). Lots of stuff about avaition and local and state stuff. Also host traveling exhibits

Must see for anybody with children! 100% for kids! Views in the area are amazing! Castle is wonderful. Baby/Toddler area is fantastic! Educational for children of all ages. I have been with my nieces and nephews several times!

There are fun things for kids of all ages, from tots to Sr. citizens. Musical instruments, puzzles, games, a lot of hands on activities. You will find something interesting every time you visit.

went and seen into the blue under the ocean, it was a great time and enjoyed the center and the exhibits will be returning for more.

School Field trips or vacationers this is the place. So much to see and interactive to keep the kids occupied. perfect size and variety of rooms and information. LOVE CHOCOLATE NIGHT! Wine, food and chocolate... does it get any better? Well, just add science fun rooms and you can't go wrong!

We spent a morning at Exploration Place and could have stayed much longer. We enjoyed watching the IMAX movie in the Dome Theatre and exploring the hands-on exhibits. Well worth the entrance fee.

We came here for something to do with the kids. It was a decent sized and the exhibits were top notch. There is a Rennasiance themed room complete with a castle that has dress up clothes, an area where you can make "stained glass windows" with geometric shapes and a light, run around the castle, and do little activities while you go, they just added in a preschool experience type exhibit which I haven't gotten to see yet. They have a theater that makes you feel like you are in the movie, where they sell popcorn and drinks. While we were there there was a fear exhibit which I found pretty interesting myself. Take your kids, it's super fun and there is always something new.

Please take your time when visiting here, don't rush through the exhibits. There is enough here for all ages, young and old.

When Exploration Place opened years ago, I frequently took my toddler grandchildren. It was our favorite thing to do in Wichita. When my 2 teenage granddaughters were recently visiting, and we had a free afternoon, I suggested a few places we could go. The choice was a definite-Exploration Place! The first stop was the castle area where they remembered so many things being the same. The toddler area was gone along with the wall of bubbles. Where are the musical sunflowers their favorite memory with cherished pictures of their little faces poking through! We enjoyed the Kansas in Miniature, tornado, river table, archeological area, and the airplane area which all seemed the same. Unfortunately a large area was set to open the following day so closed off to us. So young or old there is something at Exploration Place for everyone. My granddaughter even filled out a comment card telling them to bring back the sunflowers!

This is priced right for a fun day with the kids. Lots to see and do. Kids love things they can touch and there's lots of that!

We attended our godson's wedding here and felt it was an excellent location. The view at sunset while they were saying their vows was breath taking.

Always a fun and educational visit, each time!!! The kids love it as much as the adults! I reccomend a visit during holiday break!!!

Five of us went for an afternoon. All over seventy. We had a blast.. enjoyed the tiny Wichita scene, the castle, the horses. Two of us rode them. One lady needs a walker but she was able to enjoy it all. No she couldn't climb the stairs but she sure had fun laughing at us.

My husband and I took our neices and nephew over the weekend. They had a good time for the first hour or so but then they got bored. The exhibits were very interactive which was great. We'll probably visit again sometime. Prices were very reasonable for all of the activities available. They loved the little movie in the biodome.

This is a great place to take the kids, lots of stuff for them to play with and touch and feel. I highly recommend it.

Out of town visitor on a day trip to Wichita.
Came in during the afternoon once the heat got too much to stand. Really enjoyed all the interactive exhibits for the kids and the adults. The castle was awesome for the kids to run around and learn how life was during medieval places. The exhibits on aviation was really cool and there was something for both kids and adults. My daughter and I enjoyed flying the business jet to various cities.
Highly recommend this place if you are a local or visiting. We spent only 2 hours there because we got mid afternoon and they were closing. Could have spent more time there if it was possible.

Today, I took 17 middle school students to Exploration Place. They range in age from 11 to 14. They all had a great time! Their favorite areas were the castle and the airplane room with flight simulators. There was something for everyone.

We've been here many times and it never get old for the kids, even as they get older. Check the schedules for events and give yourself time to see everything.

We attended a wedding here. It was very nice, but due to the irregularly shaped room, guests at some tables could not see the head table or dance floor.

This place is great. It is a fun hands on children's science museum. There are permanent exhibits on aerospace and flight that are amazing. There always seems to be new traveling exhibits that keep things fresh and new. There are areas geared just for toddlers too. There are cool movies in the dome and even a planetarium show. There is also a very nice playground outside, a gift shop and a snack bar are also available. For groups/schools there is a live STEM-tacular science show that is fun and full of Science Technology Engineering and Math. Allow for plenty of time to explore and enjoy all this Wichita gem has to offer.

Grandchildren were so excited about this place. Even I learned more about germs but the Kansas room was fantastic for them to explain all about their world in Wichita. We even got to experience what a tornado is like (without the dangers of it).

We have been members of Exploration Place for years, but are still blown away every time we go! They have a great assortment of age-appropriate stuff to keep kids of all ages occupied, and one of the best perks of membership is their reciprocal agreement with ASTC’s “passport” program. This allows you to visit dozens of museums, botanical gardens, and zoos across the country for free, or for a reduced admittance. Our family has probably saved over $100 per year on this perk alone.
If you live in Wichita and have never been, load up the kids or grandkids and you will have a day you will both enjoy and remember.

The museum is housed in a unique building right on the river. We only explored the museum and didn’t catch a show. It’s a large hands on museum with plenty of educational opportunities for little ones. The staff was friendly enough, but done didn’t seem like they cared and were just going through the motions of a job. The castle areas items were scattered everywhere. The Ripley’s Believe It or Not section was super interesting and everyone was impressed with the robotic tallest man! Their flight area was informative and had lots of hands on activities with computerized education displays. Plus they had a remote control forklift that the kids could take turns driving. We spent an entire day here and had a blast!

We ended up here by accident - but WOW - this place has a lot to offer! We spent the morning exploring the exhibits, everything is very hands on and the employees were all very passionate about their jobs and really engaged with the kids. This place is REALLY cool for kids!

I have been here twice before but always with older youth (teens) or adults. This time we brought our 8 year old grandchild. It was so fun to explore all of the activities with him. Top Notch Fun!

Me and my 6 year old had a blast! Very clean and well kept, great exhibits, and friendly staff. We will return

My dad treated our family to a morning here. The kids (from age 17 down to 9) all really enjoyed it. There was something for everyone. A lot of interactive exhibits, from airplanes to dinosaurs to puzzles. Our kids wanted to make sure everyone knows how much fun they had here. A great excursion for the family.

We had so much fun! I took my 4 year old daughter and we spent most of the day there. We never got board, everywhere We turned there was something wonderful to learn about or play with. They had stuff for every age! Highly recommend!

Our grandchildren love Exploration Place! They have lots of activities for all ages. The younger ones especially like the Castle area but there is much to do and see. Very good value for the cost. They have a nice restaurant and snack area too.

There's always something to be discovered when visiting.
We love the craft room and the staff is always so friendly with children. The staff always have a smile.
Great for small children and adults alike. Great for rainy day, date, play dates, or homeschool activities.
We immediately bought a membership.

I went with my wife, step daughter and 2 grandkids to explore and give the kids something to do. I think I got as excited by some of the things offered as the kids did and I know my wife did. It is definitely worth the admittance and a must for anyone with a family.

This is a true gem in Wichita. The building is architecturally significant and is strategically placed along the Arkansas River across from Veterans Memorial Park and in view of Wichita's iconic Keeper of the Plains statue. The exhibitions are fantastic and a world of wonder for children. It IS a must-see attraction.

There are a lot of great things for children to do here. Kids of all ages will enjoy; however, my son and I went here while my Husband was deployed and I think we will find another way to entertain ourselves this Summer. We walked in and even though this place was on the blue star list, we paid the $10 for me. I asked about the blue star listing. The guy wrote down my number and said that someone would give me a call. I never got a call. Nontheless, we continued exploring this place. A couple of rude people and their very rude children did and said extremely rude things to me about my one year old child. We were not bothering them. I definitely said something back. Half the fun of this place is based on experience and our's was so, so. I understand that this place can not control their guests, but someone could've answered my question about the blue star listing. It's on the list again this year (2019), but as I said, we won't be returning.

We had the grandkids here from out of town and it was a rainy day so what a better time to spend then taking them to Exploration Place, the 5 yr old really enjoyed it. Watched a movie in the Dome, which is really cool.

Lots of things to explore! Great for families and kids. Some items were not in working order when we visited but have heard they have been updated. Did not have enough time for the film or golf.

Something here for everyone young and old. So many cool exhibits and they change several times a year. Plenty of room for parties and receptions right on the river

New science/discovery type centre where you can stand in an enclosed booth and feel what a tornado is like. Very cool, with lots of hands-on experiences for adults and kids.

Very cool place! My 4 yo loved it. We checked out the exhibits and the dome theater. Her favorite was the exhibits definitely would suggest a slightly older age group to sit through the video in the theater but it was pretty cool!

Very neat place! They have a variety of activities for kids to play and interact with. We saw the show on Mt. Everest it was a cool story. We didn't look at everything, we'll have to come back another time to get it all. The front desk gal, Maria, was very nice and helpful.

im a science nut so i may be a bit biased but i found it to be overpriced and not too impressive. even their crown attraction the dome theatre was a bit lackluster. it was a bit boring. i can see they tried but just not a place i care to revisit

If you have young to middle school aged kids that need a morning or afternoon activity this will definitely fill the bill. With a large number of hands on exhibits and experiments to occupy the time and keep them engaged, it fits the "If you're not careful, you might learn something".

We had a high school reunion there and what I heard was it was terrible. My nephews from So. Dakota liked it, though.

Typically, I think all science museums are the same, but I did enjoy this one. I came in with my husband and teenager during the pandemic, and our temperatures were haphazardly checked at the door, but everyone seemed to be wearing masks, and there was hand sanitizer everywhere. There was fun for all ages really. I thought the most interesting exhibits were the aviation, Kansas geology, and the music ones. We didn't do any of the add ons, like the theatre or planetarium, and we were there for about 2 hours. They also have a nice gift shop.

I love Exploration Place even though my kids are pretty much grown up. We recently toured the Ripley's Believe It or Not displays and it was fascinating. Being in the air conditioning in the hot summer is such a plus.

Wonderful place. Whether young or old you will learn something and have a good time doing so. A highlight for anyone in or coming to Wichita.

Nothing we did not enjoy! And at a great price!!! Wish we had gotten there earlier and stayed longer! My personal favorites were the sharks and aviation exhibits. Lots of hands on learning throughout.

Beautiful building by Moshe Safdie. Great exhibits for kids and adults. We really enjoyed our visit.

There is a lot to see at Exploration Place, with a lot of hands on things for kids and adults alike.
The whole family will enjoy visiting the science exhitbits. The train set is so neat with a replica of Wichita. The tornado exhibit is fun to see and go in. Everyone learns both children and adults.
My great nephew only 1 year old enjoyed getting to touch the rocks. I really enjoyed the exhibit, I had not seen it before and was glad for the opportunity to see it with family.
See for yourself

We recently went to Exploration Place for a birthday party. For an annual membership fee and about $150, one of my sons was able to hold a birthday party for his two daughters. The event included a room (for an hour) a cake, snacks, a helper, and admission for 30 folks to the museum. My favorite part of the museum is the Medieval/Renaissance Castle. I love watching kids climb to the parapets of the castle to use the catapults and explore courtly life. The dinosaur animatronic display is also wonderful. The Boeing air wing is great, and the kids especially enjoy climbing into the cockpits of planes. I truly enjoyed the International area with its unusual instruments and a Chinese dragon-dog head that can be worn and manipulated. The toddler area is great hands on fun, and I enjoyed watching my granddaughters and their friends play delightedly. The pipe assemblage that blows balls and scarves is a highlight. I am so glad we did not miss the miniature Kansas exhibit. Those who love trains, like one of my grandsons, will marvel at this. There are areas where you can bring your own lunch and snack with friends and family. Overall, it was a wonderful morning, and I am glad my son and his wife thought of this event. One final word--As far as gift shops go, the one at Exploration has fairly reasonable prices. I've bought multiple items for my classroom on my visits.

If you have kids that love science and like hands on experiences - this is for you. It generally will tale an afternoon to go throughout the museum. the attractions change frequently.

This place is awesome for kids and parents. Located in the heart of Wichita, kids love the interactive entertainment and parents enjoy the FREE time. The indoor castle was my grandson ‘s favorite. The shark exhibit is very good. The only thing you pay for are the movies.

Liked fear trail. not enough time for simulators for the kids. The staff had so many smiles that it was a joy just to watch them interact. Great time with kids ages 6 (2) 8 and 10. Spent 5 hours and could have spent more time there.

Went during the holidays while visiting and was pleasantly surprised at this exhibit. It was very entertaining and quite interactive. They have permanent exhibits and Exploring Flight and Design was my favorite. It has a Fly like the Wright brothers usually have kids lined up so we had to patiently wait our turn.
Kids will love Big Mouth. It's a 7' tall mouth that teaches them interactively about, well the mouth, lol. Definitely worth the money.

We had a small team building event and it was so much fun. We
Focused on the aviation part
Of the museum, but also visited the Kansas and Shark exhibits. All well done, especially the Aviaiton section. The museum design is beautiful and its location on the river was fabulous. The staff was great also. For a few chuckles, visit the restrooms and read the reminders about washing your hands. Again, we’ll done.

Not bad, but this science museum in very much geared towards kids. We went in thinking this was going to be more a St Louis Science Center type place. I would actually categorize this as more of a children's museum ( which everyone we talked to before going portrayed more as a science center) .
Our 8 year son had a great time, husband and I got a smidge bored, as it was mainly kid's stuff.
Not a ton of exhibits, but the ones they had were huge. The Olde English Village/Castle was unique and impressive and the volunteer in that area was very knowledgeable. Our son loved that and the temporary rescue exhibit.
Great museum for kids, but I would skip if I didn't have kids. 8/10

What a fun venue. The standing exhibits range from a Kansas tornado, to flight cockpits from aircrafts, to Big Mouth, to Horses and castles of the Renaissance just to name a few. The Place is situated right on the Arkansas River just a few steps away from "The Keeper" another terrific Wichita attriction.
Exploration Place has been the location of Wedding receptions, their own Death by Chocolate event, many organized runs start and finish here. Just a very fun community location!

When I was growing up in Wichita we didn't have an Exploration Place. I wish we did as I, for one, would have spent a "lot" of time there. If your looking for someplace to take the kids that isn't just another amusement park, Exploration Place is the "place" to go. It is an informative fun place to take the kids. The attractions are varied, from dinosaurs and fossils to weather and why it does what it does, to geology and rocks, basic chemical reactions. Even if your child isn't a "science geek" there are things there to enthrall them. They are regularly changing exhibits, constantly seeking new and better ideas to entrance you with. While geared for children it is a font of information for any and all. Relatively inexpensive, a family of four can see and do everything for under 50$, it is a great way to spend the day with your kids. Open every day til 5, it is located right on the river at the edge of downtown Wichita next to the Riverwalk. Just to the West are some good places to eat, I recommend Tommy
s Burgers on Douglas. I can't stress how much fun this was for me and my grandson. He had a blast and so did I. If you get a chance, go. you'll be glad you did.

This is quite the gem along the river in Wichita. There are often great exhibits that come through here, and children and adults alike can really enjoy the permanent features this site has on display. If you've not been here, try it! You're definitely missing out on an amazing place. My favorite room is the peaceful and whimsical train room with a full-scale replica of Kansas. Check it out.

Went here while visiting my friend we took her 3 year old daughter and 13 year old son. I have to say they have plenty to for any age level. The airplane part was exciting for the 13 year old while the tree magical tree house was fun for the little one. They could play dress up and have tea parties. Would highly recommend for family fun.

Too expensive for what is available. The kids have a great time, but you really only need to go once.

We had our grandchildren during spring break and this was a great place to take them to visit. Their ages were 2-10 and there was something each of them enjoyed doing. Plan to spend at least four hours.

It is super fun for younger kids (less than 7-8 years old) to get hands on learning about science. The main exhibit is super cool with lots on brain games. You could spend an entire day playing with and solving the brain games. It is fun for younger kids and adults. For the dome, the pilot movie was pretty boring and not recommended for people who get dizzy really easy or have vertigo. It isn't the best science museum in the world but it isn't the worst thing you have ever seen.

Tornado simulation and lots of things to delight and stimulate. Multiple exhibits from fossils to aircraft! Large preschool area too.

This is a great place to take children. They absolutely love it. Very well done. They have 3 areas, 1 for younger children and the teenagers can find something to do also.

We all had an absolute blast. Excellent hands on exhibits. The snAck bar was reasonably price for a quick snack.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Yes it is for kids to have fun and explore
BUT parents you still have to keep an eye on YOUR children,it is not a daycare !!!
Sitting on your butts looking at your phone while kids RUN SCREAMING RUNNING INTO PEOPLE OR PUSHING THEM OUT OF THE WAY IS RIDICULOUS!!!!

This was an amazing place! My dad worked for Spirit Aerosystems and I'm honestly amazing by everything there! There are so many sections to explore, play, and even learn something. There are even fun little challenges that you can do. The education that kids learn from this place is amazing. Would totally come here again!

A pretty neat place, a bit pricey, the put-put golf isn't bad either. shows are always changing so check them out on line to see what's going on.

My kids have loved Exploration Place since they were little. When we first moved to Wichita, we'd come every week!
Now that two of them are teenagers they still love visiting and checking out the exhibits. Our family pass works great because they can come on their own. Our 9 year old loves bringing friends and showing them the cool displays.
Their favorite areas are the planes and flight simulator, standing in the tornado, playing at the water tables, and the miniature town. They like hunting for moving pieces or funny scenes.
I appreciate that there are changing exhibits so there's always something new to see. We also enjoy attending special events and going to the dome.

Exploration Place is an excellent place to take the family. Interesting, fun and informative. Decent admission price.

If you're traveling with young children and young teens, this is one of the best places to go! They have a few different traveling exhibits per year and interactive permanent exhibits for the young ones to enjoy. Among those is a castle where kids can play dress up, 'fish', and rule their own medieval castle.

Stopped here on a quick trip with our almost 4-year old. Had a good time. Some areas were more age appropriate than others. He really enjoyed the Middle Ages themed castle area. He also loved the flight and design area with the airplanes and simulators. If the weather has been better we would have gone to the playground and mini golf areas.

Visited with my 18-year-old son when they had the toy exhibit. That was pretty cool to see total from my childhood and even some from when my son was little. Then we explored the airplane part of the museum. We sprayed airplane parts and used the rivet gun and made paper airplanes and flew them in the wind tunnel. My son also tried out the tornado simulator! We had fun but I think the museum is more geared for younger children although we would definitely like to see the spy exhibit that will be there from January through April of 2019

“My grandkids and I had an amazing time here. It was a fun, educational, and hands-on experience in a beautiful facility. We thoroughly enjoyed the interactive exhibits and the live science shows. It’s a great place to learn and have fun together.”

This was a very interactive and entertaining place. It would be very good for younger kids. I don’t believe older kids would be entertained for too long, it had smaller, interactive exhibits that took roughly 5 minutes to complete or be tired of. It was a good experience and worth going to. Prices are also not too bad.

Exploration Place is the perfect place for a family outing. There is something for kids of all ages. Love the new aviation exhibit, too.

Great place. My children love to go. But they never change anything other than the traveling exhibits. We don't go very often because it gets very redundant.

This is a great place for kids. The exhibits are interactive and appeal to all ages. The airplane room is fun. We went to a creator lab and built light up cards (circuits). There is a great castle. The only thing the kids didn't love was the traveling, "What's Eating You" exhibit. I liked it, but our kids are fairly young and weren't interested in all the reading that was required to understand the exhibit fully. Plus, we visited that part last, so they were probably tired. We will probably visit again when we are in the area.

A nice place to visit, but don't go without kids because that's what it's 100% geared for. I"ve taken my two kids there (under 10 years old) and they liked it, but it was just not really worth what they charge to get in.

This place has something for everyone. The kids enjoyed the super hero room while I liked the nostalgic exhibits. That is a temporary exhibit, so hurry. The castle is always great fun for the kids with costumes, puppets, and lots of props.

Our kids really had a great time here. There was so much to do. Tons of activities. They could easily spend an entire day here.

Took our family here for a great afternoon. Lots to do. Kept us busy for hours. Interesting place to visit.

Don't have high expectations of a stimulating tine. The traveling exhibit about skateboarding was dry and boring for a seven year old girl. Many parts of the exhibit were out of order. Waste of time. This Museum is architecturally beautiful located on the Arkansas River, unfortunately the river had gross waste floating in it. Many of interactive parts of the exhibits related to the history of flight did not work. The restrooms were dirty.
Many corporate sponsors had a part in funding portions of this museum. They would be saddened to see how many things simply don't work anymore.

Our kids love visiting Exploration Place. This was a out 3rd trip. The price is reasonable and the changing exhibits make each trip unique.

As a kid, I came here once in 6th grade and had fun. As an adult, I brought my kids and we did ok. My kids loved it, but I noticed there were multiple exhibits that only partially worked or didn’t work at all. The staff seemed very attentive and enthusiastic which was appreciated.

It had been a number of years since we had been to Exploration Place, but today we were able to take our three-year-old grandson. It was blazing hot outside, which made this visit even better; and the fact that it was not inordinately crowded was the icing on the cake. We found the activities to be quite engaging, and our grandson was able to self-select age-appropriate activities for himself. We will definitely take our grandson back many times . . .

This has always been a great place to take young grandchildren for hands-on learning and fun. The accompanying adults enjoy the visit, too.

This place is very educational but fun at the same time! The kids that I was traveling with range in age from 7- 20 one of them being special needs and they all had a blast exploring here. I don't even think they realized how much they were learning. My only complaint was that they also offer a day camp and the kids were a little rough and pushy.

My wife and daughter and I, with a friend, went here September 7th.
We arrived a little late in the day, about 2 - 3 pm, but that was enough time for our daughter.
My wife was excited for the putt-putt course, but we didn't have time.
Some of the crafts are too old for my daughter, but that just means that older kids have something.
She was also feeling a little shy that day and didn't participate in all the things she could have. She is a water bug and liked the water-flow box with the moveable walls. Snakes and fish are also high on her list.
It kept us occupied almost up to closing time at 5 pm.
Wife wants me to add that the view of the river from inside is really pretty. :)
We will probably go again.

The miniature train was neat. The dome show was fun and my kids loved the castle ! Some of the exhibits were not working so it was slightly disappointing but overall they had fun.

My ten-year-old grandson and I visited today, and while we enjoyed it, I have mixed feelings. I think this place is excellent for field trips, but maybe a little less so for a ten-year-old on summer vacation who isn't so interested in the academics. I realize that's what a science museum is there for, but I've been to some that make you work less hard to learn things, if that makes sense. That isn't to say that he didn't enjoy the place as a whole, but some areas he skipped right over because they just weren't interactive enough and he didn't want to take the time to read all the information provided. We saw the Totality dome movie, and I found it not at all engaging for kids (and probably many adults). My grandson was bored. He did particularly like the Super Heroes exhibit, as did I, and had fun in the medieval area and some others. So in terms of content it was sort of a mixed result, although as I said it would be an excellent place for school field trips to delve into particular subjects. There were a lot of very well done exhibits on a variety of topics.
There were a few things that didn't work, which was a little disappointing. The building is very nice, with a great view of the river and Keeper of the Plains. However there was a porta-potty on it's side in the waterway between the buildings which was a bit off putting. I don't know if it is Exploration Place's responsibility to take care of that, but it certainly should have been removed upon discovery, not just for aesthetic reasons but sanitary ones as well.
There is one overriding positive thing that I do want to stress - the admission price. It is very reasonable, and therefore even if my grandson didn't enjoy all of the exhibits he certainly found enough to make it a fun afternoon and I felt that I got my money's worth. For that reason I would definitely return.

The traveling shows are always really interesting. The permanent display on Kansas aviation and wildlife is really neat. Children can interact and participate on different levels and it is fun for parents too. If you have time see a movie too-for a different experience.

My wife was a stay-at-home Mom and used this place all the time to entertain our little ones. It can get a bit stale for adults if you visit it frequently, but they do a good job of maintaining their exhibits and bringing in "featured" temporary exhibits. If you are looking for a place to take the kids for a day, you won't be disappointed with the Exploration Place.

When the weather is too hot, too cold or just too windy to bear this a wonderful place to spend an hour or a day. Lots for children of all ages, especially to interact with. Lots of special weekend programs and rotating exhibits keeps it new even after the 30th visit. Even my middle schooler likes the children's area, complete with a catapult and a 3 story castle with secret passages and costumes.

Exploration Place is a great place to visit with our young kids ages 4-9. It is a perfect air conditioned educational outing on a hot summer day! All of our kids especially enjoy the castle and our youngest loves the special Kansas area with tons of hands-on and creative activities for kids 5 and under. I love that Exploration Place is full of wonder and activities my kids all enjoy, my oldest can read all the information and learn more in-depth and my younger ones can just do the fun hands-on things with a little direction from me and still be learning.
The current traveling exhibit, Dinosaurs in Motion was a bit disappointing to me, however. It features metal sculptures of dinosaur skeletons that are rigged up so you can make them move (if you are strong enough, which not all of my kids were) using pulleys, levers, steering wheels or remote controls. There were a couple of giant animatronic dinosaurs that moved and looked realistic enough to scare my youngest. There was some dinosaur information on the signs, some of it containing content related to evolution. There was probably more information on robotics and mechanics of how the creatures work, as well as information on the artist who created them though. We went through the exhibit rather quickly before needing a restroom break and only the oldest was even interested in going back to the exhibit afterwards at all. It's not that this is a bad exhibit, but it certainly didn't captivate our family quite the way we have come to expect from the amazing traveling exhibits Exploration Place usually gets. Part of that is because it is more of a slightly interactive art exhibition with dinosaurs as the subject matter with a hint of dinosaur information thrown in, my kids prefer more creature oriented exhibits at their current ages and stages.

The place is fun for kids, but if you need to ask a question or have a problem with the wrong price in the gift shop don't expect the kiddies that work there to have more than one-word replies, obviously don't like interacting with paying customers, no one seems to be supervising these teen kids, zero personality.

Sunday visit and the place was not busy. Beautiful facility, and all the exhibits are fully functional. The aviation section was amazing. The spy exhibit was great for me and my wife, but the kids had no idea what was happening, though this would have been a terrible exhibit if the museum was busy. The part that was seriously lacking was the food. There needs to be better food options here, as it was truly disappointing; like the worst I've ever experienced at a destination of this caliber.

They had good stuff but it wasn't as cool as we expected. For the fee, it really wasn't worth it. Some neat interactive stuff, but again there just wasn't enough interactive stuff to justify the fee. We did enjoy some of it. They definitely should clean up the mini golf course. The puzzles were fun to play with. Just wasn't too impressed and my son got bored fast.

We arrived with 2 grandparents, two parents and two small children, 1 and 3 yoa.
There was something for everyone. We all learned a lot, and had so much fun with the interactive exhibits. Playing with the grandkids in a learning environment was a real thrill as we watched their eyes light up in amazement.
We were very disappointed a few of the exhibits were closed while we were there but are planning a return visit. A must see for all ages.
Loved the gift shop. A little pricey, but so many fun learning activities. Grandma was dismayed they wouldn't let her play with any of them, so she had to buy them for the grandkids. Win!!

My wife and I spent an entertaining afternoon here pretty much acting like children. While all the local kids were in school, we got to play with all the hands on displays. The tornado booth, airplane simulators, water diverters... we played with all of them. I can't speak for any children, but we had a great time.

This is a great place for children and for adults also. They always have new exhibits that are fun and educational. Our last trip we all made gingerbread houses in addition to seeing Toytopia.

While I think Exploration Place could be improved on, my kids always love going here! We spent about 2 hours here and my kids didn't want to leave.

My top place to visit in Wichita. There is always something new happening here and it's never a dull moment. If you get a minute, go check out the movies playing in the Dome Theatre!

I toured Exploration Place with my girlfriend and her children. It was super fun for them to interact with the exhibits and even us adults learned a few things. It was a fun afternoon that was talked about all the way home.

We made our third trip to Exploration Place last weekend. Our kids are now ages 10 and 12 and while they enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit very much, the permanent exhibits didn't hold their attention for long (they've seen them before). We spent about $50 for less than two hours before the kids were bored and ready to go. We paid extra for the dome show, "Flying Monsters" and it was a horrible experience. We opted to sit in the front row which was probably a bad idea - the screen was too close and the picture seemed blurry. But the worst part was that there were obnoxious kids and inattentive parents all around us. There were children who talked throughout the entire show, chomping on snacks and slurping sodas, standing up and running around. It was a huge distraction and we did not enjoy it. In fact, we walked out a little early and several people followed!

There is a 4 year old in the family now, and a recent trip to Wichita to see grandparents was the perfect excuse for 4 adults to go watch him in absolute bliss. Just over 2 hours was all the stimulation he could take. The venue has enough to offer for a much longer stay, but we went all out for 2 full hours...and that was enough...and a Super Great time! Just saw a snack bar, but not full restaurant. Plenty of seating for adults to rest their feet for a minute or two.

Kids will love this place and their adults will too! Lots of hands on activities and interesting displays.

This place looks huge from the outside so I guess I was expecting more exhibits or stuff to do on the inside. With that being said, the exhibits they did have were great! it's definitely worth a stop if you have kiddos. The price was a little steep in my opinion but luckily we are members to our local children's museum which has the reciprocal program so we got 50% off admission which made it ever better!

We make regular trips to Exploration place to see the different exhibits that come through. You can take your kids or go alone and there is plenty of appeal for young and old alike. The theaters are extra $ but you can go to them by themselves or as part of the complete package. This is an interactive and fun way of learning or just playing and having fun.

This is an awesome place that i even visited as a child. I now have the privilege of taking my niece and nephew there and the get the same enjoyment i had@

All 3 of our boys enjoy spending time here. The attractions are always changing so there is new things to see and do.

Went to eclipse watch party and enjoyed science experiments on lawn. Great bonus to visit indoors afterwards, amazing array of interactive attractions my 10&13 yr old had a blast!

Design, build, fly airplanes! Now this will get the kids interested in working in the aircraft industry and may even pique their interest in flying planes as a career! Also, they have a great shark exhibit right now which is complemented by a great movie in the dome theater. Nice gift shop as well. This place is tremendous!!

Pros:
Clean
Fun
Enjoyable
Creativity Center
Close Parking
Snacks available on-site
Movies available
Con:
To high priced for a family.

I remember as a kid, when Exploration Place first opened, and I was totally amazed! I've visited many more times since then & now get to take my nieces & nephews! This place just has such a wealth of information & activities that teach the kids so much, but in such fun ways, they don't even know they're learning. We usually spend a good part of our morning & afternoon here when we visit, there's so much to see & do. Definitely don't miss this if you have kiddos!

Exploration Place is an extremely fun and interactive adventure for all ages ! The educational value of the exhibits are boundless. Something for everyone and I learned things that I did not know. Love this place HIGHLY recommended !

This is place is nice to take kids for an entire day. There are a lot of stuff for kids to do, to discover, to learn, and, of course, to explore. We also watched the 3D presentation Supervolcanoes and it is a "must to do", my son loved it. Prices in the snack bar are a bit expensive and staff are nice.

The exploration place has lots of exhibits for kids. The new aviation exhibits are especially good and are aimed at a wide range of ages, toddler and up.
There is a traveling exhibit area that is currently hosting exhibits on sharks.
The medieval display has some learning demonstrations, but those are typically monopolized by six to ten year-olds.
The preschool areas are under-staffed and usually filled with lots of kids.
The Kansas in Miniature exhibit is fun for all ages! It is based on an O-gauge model railroad exhibit. It is huge, well done and highly animated.
There is a fossil area that is great for older kids.

We love science museums - our kids liken them to Disney World. We spontaneously decided to take a short trip to Wichita and, naturally, the Exploration Place was one of the main attractions for us. I’d read reviews that mentioned broken exhibits and not a lot of content, but the building looks huge and the center had replied claiming to make repairs weekly...
Initially, the grounds are lovely. It is too bad they’ve shuttered their mini golf, because I can imagine it was beautiful to play alongside the river. The park is a bit of a hike - especially for small kids - and there are no nearby restrooms. One of our kids is still potty training, so I wasn’t thrilled to run 1/3 mile to the center to avoid an accident.
They claim to open at 10, but we got there right at 10 and there were many families, not groups, who were already in the facility. There weren’t any special events listed on their fb or website. When there were groups, the ratios were absurd. One older woman was with 10 5-6 year olds! Kids were running all over pushing people and kicking exhibits (some while their parents watched). Unsurprisingly, many exhibits were broken.
We had some fun, but were done in about 90 minutes.

Absolutely a must see while in Witchita! It’s an adult and kid heaven — where everyone is having a great day. There’s fun games, lots of interactive, hands-on experiences, and even a Barbie exhibit. We played whack-a-meal, skee-ball, and a few other games before wandering around this great exploration place.

This is an amazing museum that combines elements to satisfy and entertain the curiosity of adults and children a like. Each season hosts a theme, when we visited it was, Super Hero's. Adults and children enjoyed the history and magic of this era.
Housed in a beautiful building situated by the Arkansas River and the Keeper of the Plain, the outside is as beautiful as the inside.

A great interactive museum centered around science and aviation. It exhibits are fun and entertaining for all ages

Took my boys (7 & 2) for the day and they had a blast. They loved the kids castle and the building station. We didn't see any movies, but we spent so much time playing that we wouldn't of had time anyway. I wish we would have brought snacks because the snack shop was not open on a Friday afternoon.

We were told this was something to go see while we were in Wichita, but this is really geared for kids. There are many interactive things for the kids to do. The only fun thing was the interactive planes, we and many of the other adults enjoyed this. You got to sit in life size planes and get the feel and knowledge of what its like to fly a small plane. Outside of that its a kids thing !!!

I've gone here too many times. The castle is heaven. I know I'm far to old for it, which is proven being that I hit my head playing in it but come on, It's a Castle! If you've not been here, then you're missing out on something major!

We visited with 2 parents, 2 teens, 2 six year old boys. We all loved it. Especially the young boys. The exhibits are mostly geared to about 5 to 10yr but there is sometime LEARN for EVERYONE. This is a very hands on science museum. Very clean, well organized, beautiful grounds. All around great experience.
The “Dome” movie was cool and cheap enough as an add on upon admission that I would recommend. We spent about 2 hours here and made it through about 25% of the exhibits. Go and have fun.

Visited today with twin 2 year olds, a 12 year old and my wife and I and had a great time. There were many things to interest all of us. A fascinating art/dinosaur exhibit where you can move life size dinosaur art. have to see it to understand it, we all enjoyed it. There is a great section on flight and airplanes and opportunities to fly flight simulators. very interesting science displays and really something for everyone and not crowded at all.

Cool displays for toddlers to "seniors with toddlers", much interactive nature and special exhibits, too. The current guitar exhibit was fascinating and I am not even musical. Awesome building, too.

Great place to take the kids. Small theater for science and educational fun. Rotating exhibits change frequently. Be sure to check what they are. Lots of interactive displays. Will bring my kids back for more!

Our group in Wichita for business ***loved*** our after-hours experience at Exploration Place. It was a ton of fun for a group of adults, and we learned stuff along the way.

I enjoyed the exploration place almost as much as the kids. Mostly well put together and well thought out exhibits. The aerospace and flight center was really good.

We have been going to this museum for the past several years and have enjoyed it. We have been to many traveling exhibits they have had their such as: Star Wars, Whales, and the human anatomy. Their current exhibit is dinosaur art and structures. Something for everyone here.

This is a great place to bring kids and also interesting things for adults. A great learning place and when you add fund as well, it is well worth going to.

Went here with my daughter and my friend and her 2 boys. The boys had a blast as did my daughter. I really enjoyed going through Exploration Place. Definitely a place to take kids to.

This is a very fun place for infants and toddlers and school age kids to play and explore hands on. 2 year old very active grandkids loved the hands on activities in the Kansas play area and also the castle area . The yearly membership is worth it and we were able to take our visit off the price of our membership that day . Great place to take kids to run out some creative energy. 1 negative is that the toddlers can open the roller gate to get out of the farm area if you happen to be running after another kid. But gotta watch toddlers close anyway so I guess I would make it a little harder to get out. But it is alot of simulating things to do. Great place.

Wow, what an incredible experience! We spent over six hours at the museum and the day flew by in an instant. The flexibility to bring in outside food and drinks was a wonderful bonus, so we packed a lunch and indulged in popcorn during the shows. Be sure to carve out time to enjoy at least one of the shows - it's truly unforgettable! With so much to explore, you will have many choices. The hands-on exhibits are for all ages. My four-year-old grandson and ten-year-old granddaughter found activities that sparked their curiosity.

Had 5 children and 2 adults and the group average review was 4 stars. Even the adults struggled with figuring out the spy room clues and the kids ages 5-9 quickly list interest in that exhibit. We were bummed no theater too. Overall, they really enjoyed most of the exhibits and had a good time. The outside playground was a big hit!

We went to one of the dome shows which was awesome. The ripleys exhibit was really cool and the kids loved all the fun things to do and see!!

I was here for the State Science Fair. The Gravity ball bearings at the front had lots of people mesmerized. Exhibits were amazing. One problem: in the castle, the ball tunnel kept getting blocked.

We took our seven year old here and we were not disappointed! They had multiple sections that were dedicated to various themes, such as a 3 level medieval play castle, many actual airplanes that one can play in and water exploration tables. We had a blast and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Easy access from highway 54, close to Old Town, walking distance to downtown, and Century II convention center, ample free parking. Snacks, food, and gift shop on the premises. Concessions are a little high, but the admission is far below what we've paid at similar venues. During our last visit, our guests ranged in age from 4 to 64, and everyone found multiple exhibits they liked. All ages loved the exploring flight and design, and playing in the simulators. We saw "The Last Reef" in the domed theater. Super comfortable chairs with a fantastic 3D experience. All the exhibits are interactive, and there are too many to list. Best option is to visit the website at exploration.org, to see all exhibits and check the theater schedules. Plan on spending at least 4 hours here.

Have been here a few times with younger children and teens. Teens thought it was ok, younger children loved it. For us adults it was ok, somewhat small.

From the Dome to live science shows to the interactive exhibits, you can easily spend an entire day here. I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area!

Spent about 3 hours there with a toddler, didn't try to see an IMAX but the little one enjoyed walking through the exhibits. Favorites were the medevil play area, block area although it made me nervous because of the desire my child has to kick over tall built towers! Tot Spot and veterinarian area were really good too. I think any kid would find several areas he or she would really enjoy. Money well spent.

Took our toddler to see one of their short productions: "Chirpie's Magical Sky." Bought some popcorn and drinks and our son seemed to enjoy himself. The mini production was about 12 minutes long and our son wanted to see it again. He kept asking for "Chirpie!" Content was appropriate for toddlers, I wish it could had been a little longer.

My kids enjoy visiting the different exhibits here. There is a lot to be learned here as well as fun to be had!

This was a disappointment for a museum. The children were ages 3 & 8. They both had hands on activities that they could explore but a lot of the exhibits were broken, the miniature golf course was covered in leaves and we spent so much time removing them that the children just didn't want to play anymore and the Dome Theater was so large you couldn't make out the video, oh yeah, the recliners didn't work either. Great museum concept but needs better management.

Our grandkids LOVE it here! Ages 5-12, They all ran off to explore and play - their 3rd visit here. The grand daughters love the castle, the boys love the airplanes and simulators. It kept them busy for hours. We went to the "class" on electricity, led by a very interesting instructor. The all to to volunteer and were involved learning here.

We spent about 3 hours with our 3 children here (ages 10, 7, & 4). We purchased the combo ticket which included the dome theater. At just $1 extra to add that on, its worth it, but be prepared to select your show & time at point of purchase. Our kids enjoyed the Rescue exhibit, particularly the ball pit, & the main castle area the best. There were plenty of interactive exhibits & learning opportunities for each of our kids throughout the museum. The staff were also helpful & friendly.

Exploration place is a science museum. It's a good place to go with your kids to learn new experience.

My husband and I visited Wichita to see a concert, we had a whole day to kill so we started off at Exploration Place. This is a science center/childrens museum/planetarium place AND they have mini-golf. We did all of it, starting with mini golf, which could be better but it was nicely manicured and outside along the riverfront. The exhibits in the museum were very well put together, our favorite was Exploring Flight & Design, with a lot of history of airplaces, Wright Bros, etc. The traveling Tony Hawk exhibit was very cool, a look at the physics of skateboarding, a very cool thing to learn. We saw Violent Universe in the Dome, their planetarium, which was pretty cool, a nice 30 min break from the heat in nice, comfortable seating and HUGE screen. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone taking children and even for couples young at heart!

A unique learning experience for all ages with different displays on rotation. The Titanic display left a lasting impression.

Exploration Place is an excellent facility for all family members. It is excellent for a grandparent to take their grandchild. It is interactive and can be experienced at your own pace. There is ample seating for a grandparent to observe while their grandchild is active. I'm somewhat disabled. Exploration Place is a very good place for us to visit. It's accessible for me and has many activities for my grandson. There are several activities we can do together and several I can observe him while he plays and learn.

We love the exploration place. Especially all the exhibits and I'm so glad the Change exhibits. The dinosaur exhibit was my kids favorite so far. Definitely recommend especially for families with younger children!!
Great place to take the family especially for younger children! lots of hands on fun learning, tornado simulator, keva plank building room, medieval castle area to play and explore. There's always a changing traveling exhibit to enjoy for something new and the gift shop hosts some very unique treasures! great times with the family!
