You'll love walking here - its' magical. I go every day and enjoy every moment. It's easy to walk here so even if you have trouble hiking you'll do fine here.

Gorgeous

What a beautiful area. Our leashed dogs loved walking on all of the trails. There were many to explore. It was great to see all of the different types of wildlife. T

two great wheelchair accessile trails

By abh345678 |

This preserve is amazing and beautiful. What gem in Cambria! Like the Boardwalk trail on Moonstone Beach, the Cliff Trail is completely wheelchair accessible and mostly boardwalk. Gorgeous views of the ocean and the gently rolling hills of the preserve make this a spectacular walk. We parked in an accessible spot on the north side at Windsor North, went south on the Bluff Trail, and came back on the Marine Terrace Trail which is a wide, hard packed dirt. The only issues is that on the south side there is a very steep hill on Wedgewood Street to get from the Cliff Trail to the Marine Terrace Trail. So if I were to do the loop again, I'd park in the same spot, start on the Marine Terrace Trail, zoom (carefully) down Wedgewood Street to the Bluff Trail south entrance, and return to the car on the Bluff Trail.
It's rare to have such an amazing outdoor experience that is over two miles of accessible trail. I LOVED my visit.

Ocean view trail

By jsofla |

Fiscalini trail is an easy walk within view of the ocean. Wild flowers blooming. Birds, including a blue heron, a hawk and quail were visible.

Nice place for an ocean walk

By Sally J |

This is a really nice ocean walk. Do not use your GPS to get there. It is a wild goose chase. Ask some one or just turn right off Moonstone Drive and drive to the very end of the road and park and walk up to the boardwalk. Lots of unusual benches to sit on and watch the ocean.

Great spot for whale watching and wonderful walks.

By jlp651 |

We stop at Fiscalini every time we visit Cambria. The paths are easy for walking. Great spot for seeing whale sprays during November to March. Plenty of benches just to sit and enjoy the scenery.

Breath-taking views of the ocean!

By LoveBirds25 |

Friends brought us here for a hike and we loved it. The pathway we walked (there are several trails, including some that you can ride bikes on) takes you right along the coast and the day we happened to be there was picture perfect - sunny, blue skies, comfortable temps. I'm wish I had a picture to post. There are benches along the path which let you take in the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.

One of the most peaceful, beautiful walks anywhere

By Deenie P |

I walked along the bluffs and saw lots of ground squirrels, bees, and small flowers. I'm a photographer so this was heaven for me.I even saw a whale. The ocean view is spectacular as well as relaxing. I met several local residents along the walk who were very friendly and eager to share information about their town (I found this to be true everywhere I went in Cambria). The bluff walk can be chilly and is usually windy, so bring a windbreaker or at least wear long sleeves. The benches are unusual as well as beautiful. I found the walk to be so calm and peaceful that I did it several days. It is prettiest after the fogs lifts in the morning (about 10:00 during our late June early July visit) or near sunset. I did not walk the full set of trails that go through the pines, but I met several folks who said it should not be missed. This was one of the highlights of my visit.

Still great but be aware for vagrants

By Rogerdob |

I love the forested part of this preserve, but be careful of the vagrants that are camping there. While exploring an area off the trail, I stumbled onto a vagrant camp that was a mess and the camper was scary!

Beautiful view and walk

By Gloryaa |

We accidentally stumbled upon this walk trail, we decided to start walking, glad that we did the trail is made well, with paths, there was a lot of people with their dogs walking the trail, the view was amazing, you can take lots of pictures.

A slice of heavan on earth!

By Jolly |

There are few walks on this planet more beautiful! And I have traveled extensively! The quirky benches along the way are great if you need a break :)

Great place to hike

By Bill H |

This is a free coastal hiking spot between the ocean and Cambria. Numerous trails. Get a map at the C of C. Several small parking lots. The more paths you take the more time. After staying in Cambria a number of times this is the first I knew of this spot.

Something for everyone

By Robert W |

The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is a treasure. Multiple trails allow one to walk ocean front bluffs, through a Monterrey pine forest, grassland, up and down hill or flat, whatever you feel like. If you are a keen observer of nature, diverse wildlife - flowers, sea life, forest - offer ever-changing sights and terrific photo opportunities. A stroll, short or long, is a frequent activity for us in Cambria - and justifies a lovely lunch or dinner.

Great place for a dog

By mellette h |

We were staying next door at the Bluebird Inn since it was dog friendly. Early one morning my dog, Amy, and I walked over there and found open field with quail and wild turkey's. We were the only ones so I took her off the leash and let run to her hearts content. It was so peaceful that we could have easily stayed a lot longer. Looked like there were some trails but we didn't investigate. Cambria is a great 2 or 3 day trip. Don't miss it.

Great place for a walk!

By lcomi |

This is an awesome place for an easy stroll before dinner or in the morning. It's flat, so even older people or kids can enjoy it. Seal, otters, occasionally whales can be spotted from the cliff side.

Walk and enjoy the views and the peace

By Ruth C |

Beautiful walk along the bluffs of Cambria. The ocean offers a myriad of sights, birds of all types such as cormorants, pelicans, pipers, etc. If you walk far enough you will find Otter Cove and watch them play and eat. Easy walking for almost anyone with some slight elevations but there are many benches along the way if you need to rest. Lovely at all times of day from morning too sundown.

Cambria's best jewel

By Carolyn Spencer Brown |

Wow, oh, wow, the Fiscalini Ranch, occupying the most gorgeous hillside on the coast, is Cambria’s biggest wow. I started coming here when the ranch was just a ranch, surrounded on two sides by somewhat ugly and pretentious 1970s ocean cottages, but the ranch itself reminded you of how beautiful the area always was. It was sold to a corporation who planned to build more ugly houses on the coastline and fortunately more superior vvisions emerged, and the state, and community and others got together and bought it back, and made into wonderful parkland. There are trails for all, for dog walking, for bicycle riding, both right on the edge of cliffs overlooking the Pacific to forested hillsides. I don’t know that I have ever seen more couples holding hands or simply hugging unselfconsciously, as I have this week on my daily visits to the ranch.

Maybe not as well known is the fact that you can walk from Cambria’s East Village (look for Black Cat Bistro), across ranchland, then you cross Highway One (carefully), then climb on up to the Pacific facing land. We wound up in Marine Terrace and it was a monster walk back to the East Village in the rain but also completely inspirational and memorable.

Great Place for a Short Walk

By Rose N |

Lovely park along the coast in Cambria. A bit tricky to find parking, but if you luck out, the walk along the bluff is just lovely. We walked 2-3 miles after our lunch. Good for photos, a picnic, or just sitting on a bench and reading/painting.

Beautiful Nature Walk

By connie p |

This gem of a Preserve is perched high over the ocean, with breath-taking views. The paths are lovingly maintained Friends of the Preserve, and they do a fine job. Beautiful walk.

Natural coastal beauty

By wvillamil |

This is a beautiful location . It’s a nice coastal walk with a few benches to relax and take in the view. I renewed my 10 th wedding anniversary vows here and came up this weekend 25 years later to the same place to take in the view.

Walk!

By DMFW |

Great walk with awsome views of the ocean. Saw otters and birds. Chatted with other walkers. Really enjoyed it and have done it many times

Great urban hiking with a variety of ecosystems

By TamarG_12 |

I was eager to hike here on my quest to experience urban hiking areas- not exactly urban in the town of Cambria, but well placed within town. There are a variety of trails- on the cliffs above ocean, in the forest, along the Santa Rosa River and through fields. My only criticism is that the less popular trails and junctions are not marked and there are quite a few small tracks that I wasn't sure if they were trails or not. The Preserve doesn't want us to go off trail, but it is confusing to know if you are on the correct trail. I found the Eastern trails to be a lot more confusing to follow- even using their trail map and the town map. Still had fun.

Beautiful Walk near the ocean

By Randy H |

This outdoor area is near the hotels in Cambria and San Simeon. Just a beautiful area to hike and explore. The views of the ocean are spectacular.

Fiscalin:i Always a Joy

By docgeo70 |

This is a great preserve, 4 miles of trails, most flat for folks like me with asthma and breathing issues. Just send the wife ahead with the dog, enjoy the views, the otters, and meander along. Trails are well maintained---cannot be beat!

One Of A Kind

By Tim |

Take this walk inland and up the hill every visit to Cambria. Sometimes you can see the wild life, coyotes and such. The view is breathtaking.

Scenic and easy hike

By KelliGH |

Easy scenic hike along the coast. Great way to see some sea life and enjoy the outdoors. One way on certain paths for COVID distancing and everyone was considerate and careful. Loved it!

Beautiful easy walks along the coast

By OU812Kiev |

Lovely small preserved area along the coast with multiple paths. Wheelchair accessible too. It is a flat and easy walk.

Beautiful walk with amazing wildflowers and rock formations

By TravellingJan |

No one knows about this place that is down a residential street in Cambria along the ocean. Amazing...just incredible wildflowers at end of February, beautiful rock formations along the jagged coast AND an accessible trail, so all can enjoy it. Wow...Don't miss it!

Beautiful ocean views from the bluffs

By Caryn B |

This was a great walk. You can walk the boardwalk and hike into the Cyrpess' which we did for some spectacular views. Even saw whales spouting. No shade but it didn't matter with the lovely breeze. Only issue might be parking, but we were able to get the last available space! Also no toilets...so bring tissue if you think you'll need it!

Fabulous stroll, bike, wheelchair, pet-friendly trails

By astrojane |

We walked three of 4 approximately 1 mile trails on one day this week. The Bluff trail allows dogs on leashes. The ocean terrace trail allows unleashed but monitored pups.

The Santa Rosa creek trail meanders NE of US 1, closer to town you can park near the Black Cat Bistro on Main Street, and take one mile each way walk. It passes through the 100 year old Fiscalini cattle pastures, and old rodeo corral, now verdant green thanks to recent rain.

There are signposts, brochures, even a Friends of the Preserve office on Cambria's Main Street. A preserve worth preserving!

Must-hike destination in Cambria!

By Worldbutterfly |

We loved our hike in Fiscalini Ranch Preserve! We especially loved the clearly marked trails, unique bench designs and views from every part of the Ranch. This was one of the highlights of our visit to Cambria. Don't miss it!

Easy trail, friendly people and dogs, great place to walk and enjoy the view

By Ham_a_Lot_SJ |

We visited this place for the first time and were so happy to do so. The trail was easy, mild elevation, well maintained and with stunning views. Lots of dogs and friendly walkers, but also enough seclusion to just enjoy nature.

Couple walk

By Nancy H |

This is the most beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean with wild flowers, ground squirrels , a neat boardwalk. Do wear sun cover & sun glasses. A good hat is a must. We viewed sea lions playing in the ocean and raising their pups. You must look closely as they blend in.

Do Not Miss This One!

By 2TravelersMn |

The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve encompasses 437 acres of biological diversity. There is a mile-long coastal bluff trail with breath-taking views. At the right time of the year, you can spot migrating whales, otters and shore birds.

Best Hiking!

By defygravity56 |

Love hiking this trail. The views are breathtaking and there are now benches scattered along the trail so that you can st and enjoy the view, journal, or just think.

A manageable beautiful walk

By Melanie709 |

It is amazing how people donated to preserve this area. It has some easy walks that preserve the coastal area and the Monterey pines. It also is a resting area for Monarch butterflies. A true natural treasure.

Perfect morning walk!

By Pamela H |

This is a lovely trail for the early morning. We grabbed a couple cups of cappuccino at the local Shell Station and enjoyed the sunrise above the trees during our walk. Benches along the way to sit and rest and a lot of locals to chat with. Lovely!!!

Vacation

By Nasrin M |

One of the best hikes. The view is spectacular. The ocean is so pretty & the breeze take you to another world. It is such relaxing place. Easy walk& beautiful scenery.
It’s so quiet. You can take your dog if you like. You can go few times this way your exercise be completed. It’s almost one mile. But the scenery is so breath taking you won’t even feel the time. If you go to Cambria this place must see.

Boardwalk and Hiking

By AllocatedTraveler |

We always make time to do a hike thru Fiscalini over to town for breakfast at Creekside. On the way back we'll take the Fiscalini boardwalk to the hotel. It's a heck of a walk but so worth it.

Walk on the Wild side

By JeffLapp |

Every time we visit Cambria we walk along the Fiscalini bluff trail which is about .86 miles in each direction. Great ocean views, including seals and pelicans. The weather is December is surprising good, with blue skies, sun, and temperatures in the high 60's and 70's. Enjoy the driftwood benches for a short stop and to take iconic photos. Street parking at the start of the trail at the end of Windsor Blvd.

A treasure of a place!

By SRehm |

We visited about an hour before sunset with our dog. It was foggy and we weren’t sure we’d be able to see much but it was GREAT! Cannot wait to go back again on a sunny day. What a treasure of a place!

Cambria

I love visiting Cambria, the ocean views, food as great, gift shops were unique and fun. A friendly little town looking forward to going again. Marie Humphry

Beautiful — one of the best coastal bluff walks in California!

By SLOJon |

There are some great coastal bluff trails along the Central Coast of California and the bluff trail in the Fiscalini Ranch Reserve is absolutely one of the best. The trail is easily accessible and easy to walk, either on boardwalks or nicely groomed pathways. There are several trails available but we love the one closest to the ocean. That trail is “furnished” with some wonderful, unique benches make of natural materials, including large pieces of driftwood — great places to sit down, relax, breathe deep, and take in the breathtaking views.

We will return.

Excellent trail

By Parnellijoy19 |

An absolutely wonderful boardwalk meandering alongside the coast with an 'inlet' portion looping closer to the adjacent hills. There are benches along the route strategically placed for viewing the beaches and ocean. Take a snack and drinks then take a marvelous walk along the coastline.

Nice hiking trail!

By travllingrandma |

We have come to Cambria many times but never knew about this collection of hiking trails before. It came up on a list of things to do on Trip Advisor so since we had extra time this trip we decided to check it out. Located at the end of a road and next to some very nice homes, we found the trails and preserve. We took the path along the ocean and then returned on an inland trail. In total we walked about 3 miles and most of the path was on a boardwalk or an easy level path. We saw lots of interesting plants and nice views of the ocean. Would definitely recommend taking a look if you have the time.

I have always loved this ranch.

By Laurie Q |

I grew up riding on this ranch and mending fence with The Fiscalini Family, this is a lovely piece of property and thank you Fiscalini's for your donation!

Easy Walk

By ExpoNationals |

Pretty trail in Cambria, CA. If you are looking for a long and challenging hike, then this trail may not be for you. If you want a picturesque easy hike, then Fiscalini Ranch Trail is the one for ya.

Beautiful and stunning views will greet you every step of the way. I failed to break a sweat cause of our leisurely pace and stopping to take pics. There were some folks brisk walking and jogging, so it is possible to work up a good sweat. Have fun admiring Mother Nature!!

Sunset

By Antonie |

Nice to see the sunset on the bench of waste wood. Nice circular walk along the rocks and the sea. Some wind but no problem

Beautiful and very scenic walk.

By smileybear1 |

You have to visit Fiscallni Ranch and take the beautiful walk. Amazing view and you will love it. You can stop and sit on a bench and take in the breathless view of the ocean.

Walking the Bluffs

By robert g |

People go to Cambria for many reasons. But most miss this easy walking trail along the bluffs and preserved land at the coast.
This tiny piece of coastal property was saved from coastal house building just a short time ago by local people. Thank you them .

By Bill S |

This is a wonderful place to go walking or joggin or just to hand out enjoyine the wonderful and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding hillsides with flowers blooming everywhere

We enjoyed starting this trail in Cambria and then across Hwy 1 and onto the beach. Lovely. Easy hiking.

Awesome Hike

By TheMomfromCali |

Great trails with fantastic views. Walking more than hiking, methought their was at least one trail we found that went up into a an area with pines. We were able to see seals, sea lions and all kinds of birds.

Pelicans Galore!

By Mary L |

We took the coastal trail. This is an easy "hike" with outrageous coastal views. Uncountable number of Pelicans flying, diving, and resting on the ocean waves. So cool to see them up close. There are benches for resting or just communing with nature. Next time I would like to take the forest trail.

A must visit 437 acre preserve-a gem of the Central Coast!.

By 73jnhly |

The Bluff Trail is an easy less than 2-mile in and out with much to enjoy-wildflowers, sea creatures, wonderful bird life (look for families of burrowing owls). The various forest trails, with marked seasonal changes, are exciting and yet, calming, The mixed Monterey Pine and California Coastal Oaks shade the beautiful understory plant life. Look for the monterey big ear woodrats nests hiding among the trees...some as tall as seven feet. This gem of the Central Coast is a preserve-owned by all of us.

Beautiful place to stretch your legs

By sandy c |

It's about 2 miles total from one side to the other and you can choose to do the easy path along the bluffs or go uphill at the back. really nice that they kept an open space here.

Uncrowded and Beautiful Trail

By Rosejoe |

Unexpectedly lovely place to walk and enjoy nature. Ocean views are lovely. We saw deer and many birds.

Great place to walk

By Jan S |

I enjoyed my morning walks along the ocean and also the trail further inland. It is great place to enjoy nature, watch the seals on the rocks. I also saw many pelicans flying along the coast.

Nice Walk

By CsC |

My brother told us about this walk so we decided to try it. Very nice, level walk about 2 miles which took us less than an hour with stops for pictures.

Great place to walk and enjoy vistas!

By Hulalani |

The beauty and expansiveness of the ocean, birds and taking in nature is easy and magnificent in this place. The trails and boardwalks are beautifully maintained, and our visits to Cambria aren't complete without a visit to Fiscalini Ranch.

Good choices for delightful walks

By Arlene S |

Quieter than the Moonstone Beach area with more choice of pathways to follow. There's a boardwalk along the ocean, a flatter and straighter emergency road that can be accessed from either the south or north end, or there are many trails on the hilltop and into the forest. There is info about the trails and flora and fauna at the start of the boardwalk. One thing to remember is that there are no restrooms.

Gorgeous!

By C D |

One of our favorite places to walk in Cambria. So beautiful and serene. Amazing views. Wildlife sightings.

Walking The Ranch!

By empty_11 |

This is an amazing piece of property where the ocean meets the forest. It is absolutely the magical place and the hiking is not difficult at all. Although you can walk different trails for 30 minutes up to 2 hours. The diversity is fantastic.

Hiking and walking trails suited to various levels of challenge

By goletagone |

Scenery is old California ranchland next to the Pacific. Walking trails on the bluffs or through the woods and spaces inbetween zre pzrticulzrly lovely in th Spring with wildflowers in abundance. Watch birds, bugs and seals as well as the occasional deer. It is quiet and the air is fresh. You can bring your furry friend on some of the trails.

Lovely coastal hike

By Amy B |

This is a beautiful place for a hike. Maybe 2 miles. Beautiful looking down at the ocean, lots of sea lions on the rocks.

What is this picture....it's not the preserve!

By Curt C |

This is a great place to hike and walk the dog. Beautiful ocean views and you can hike into the pines. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful!

By gmaoahu59 |

We enjoyed visiting beautiful Fiscalini Ranch Reserve! So nice to have access to an area that my husband remembers visiting during his childhood! A nice place to walk and several benches scattered throughout to sit and observe the amazing coast line and wildlife!

Fabulous ocean view walk

By jane w |

Beautiful walk on the bluffs above the ocean. Several trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails more inland (still great views of the ocean) but not on the bluffs' edge, for good reason. They could chase critters right of the edge, which our's wanted to do. Well kept up. Great walk.

Beautiful, easy walk.

By Jim V |

This walk along the bluffs above the ocean is absolutely beautiful and probably traveled by more locals than any other walk on the Central Coast. Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is surrounded by wildlife both in the water and on land. Sea otters, harbor seals and sea birds of all description can be seen in the water or on the rock formations jutting out into the ocean. You may even see passing whales or dolphins. Egrets, ground squirrels, blue herons, turkey vultures and hawks populate the land on the bluffs. It is an easy two mile round trip walk and dog friendly. This walk is nature at its finest; majestic, peaceful and beautiful.

A walk along the Coast

By SouthAmericanTravel |

This is a hidden gem along the California Coast in Cambria. Can make your walk as long as you want. There is an upper trail that leads you into pines or the lower trail that is next to the ocean. Beach access is not available. Great for dogs. Easy path. Would have been developed, people stepped in to save it for everyone to enjoy open space.

FANTASTIC FIND!

By cvcalifornia |

What a find! We've been going to Cambria for several years and I don't know how we missed this. BEAUTIFUL trails with whimsical benches. Can't wait to go back. You can meander along the cliff trail and return on the upper trail.....or save one for another day. We brought a little snack and watched the waves. Easy easy walk for any age.

wonderful discovery!

By wallymoon |

This was great! we wanted a place just to walk, and it was perfect. nice trail, great views, not many people. what could anyone NOT like about this?

Simply stunning!

By #chaudhry50 |

First of all, here is the google map pin for this for the Bluff trail that’ll give you views of the ocean. This access to the trail is through a neighborhood.
(35.5561290, -121.1023207)
My kids loved this place! It was a long, stunning, relaxing walk. I would suggest to bring water with you. My 8, 4 and 3 year old had a blast. I did bring a stroller for my 3 year old because she got tired towards the end. The point where we started, didn’t have restrooms so perhaps a pitstop before you start. The Bluff trail also ends in a neighborhood. You have to walk a block over to use the Marine Terrace Trail which simply cuts through to get back (kinds blah comparatively). The round trip took us an hour. If the kids were older perhaps we would have ventured into the forest. Definitely made it to our must see spots in California as we continue exploring our 50 states! #chaudhry50

Exquisite Natural Wonder!

By TDKCA |

Just when you think the views from Moonstone Beach could not be beat, drive a few short miles South and take in the wonder of Fiscilini Ranch! Easy walking trails line the coast with expansive, panoramic views. Your walk is interspersed with wooden benches someone appropriately described as works of art to sit down and further drink on the views. Each morning I went to the Ranch it was cool and overcast, but it was still an amazing natural wonder to take in. Fiscilini is a must see and experience!

A lively walk in the Park

By Hedi B |

We live in this area and it is always pleasant to leisurely walk on the pathway and see cluster of deer 3-5 of them on the side of path. Such a beautiful walk going towards the ocean and see the elephant seals

Beautiful View

By starr b |

This is 3rd time coming to Cambria to just come here. It’s beautiful and has postcard view. We picnicked down at the beach with less wind. It was very windy today on the trail. Not crowded and so quiet. We s Awww many different bird species( blue jay, quail,...). Many seal were sunbathing on the rocks down by the beach. We could hear them welcoming us. What a lovely day we had after a year of “ stay home”. Thank his for this!!!!

A surprise hike worth checking out.

By GirlOffTheGrid |

Was taking a walk in the neighborhood of an AirBnB I was staying out and stumbled on this gem. Gorgeous views of the coastline with a nice walking trail. Bring a jacket with a hood as it can be chilly with the ocean breeze.

Dog & People Heaven on the Central Coast

By Susan McAfee B |

This might be our favorite place in the world. Our dog, Penny the Pointer, agrees. You know those beautiful, rolling, grassy hills and headlands so characteristic of Central Coastal California? We always yearn to get out and walk them with Penny running her characteristic, joyful circles around us. We travel to Cambria because of Fiscalini Ranch.

Fiscalini is where we can all get out and climb the headlands, look out over the ocean and breathe deeply...with Penny. Harmony Headlands just south of Cambria offers a similar experience, but dogs are not allowed.

During the winter the mushrooms bloom in the Fiscalini pine forest. The foggy mornings are such a relief from the summer heat. The only time Fiscalini is dangerous (for Penny) is foxtail season (~May-July), but somehow she seems to know to stay to the trails, and skunk season (late summer, foggy mornings) during which she's avoided a direct encounter!

There is some controversy in Cambria about off-leash dogs in Fiscalini; the original intent for the open space was as a retreat for walks and hikes with well-behaved, off-leash dog companions. So we make sure when Penny is off-leash, she's also voice-responsive and well-behaved when meeting other people and dogs on the trails. The boardwalk along the ocean (where you can see otters, seals and other sea life) is on-leash-only.

Views, views, views!

By Lori P |

Beautiful coastal preserve with spectacular views and wonderful handmade driftwood benches every so often. Otters and seals abound. Many dog walkers. Really a lovely, lovely place to walk when in Cambria.

View from the top!

By SB24000 |

Took a hike from town, up across the highway, and up to the ridge. Beautiful day and beautiful view!

This is a must do - lovely hikes along the water - great tide pools

By Christina04 |

Yes, this is one of those "must do" attractions in Cambria. We almost didn't go, but decided to check it out on our way out of Cambria - I am so glad we did! There are some beautiful, easy hikes around the park. One of them takes you along the coast - gorgeous! And, if you don't mind climbing down, you can make your way down to some tide pools. My kids and I spent an hour looking in the tide pools - super fun! There isn't a lot of shade - so make sure to put on sunscreen and have a hat. But there's something about being in nature, by the ocean, with the fresh air that just makes it seem like all is good with the world! This reminds me of Point Lobos, south of Carmel.

Walking the cliffs

By 134paulinef |

There is something magical for me about the coast of California above Santa Barbara. Here in Cambria there is a trail to walk that give you a sense of the grandeur of it all, and the beauty. And there are several opportunities to sit and enjoy the view along the way

Morning walk

By Pete W |

My wife and I walked the Bluffs trail and found it to be an easy and beautiful 2 mile stroll out and back. Gorgeous view of the coastline the entire walk.

Beautiful walk.

By jntsmom |

Such beautiful sights to see. Trail is well maintained. Easy walk. There are benches along the trail to rest or simply enjoy the view. It is a little difficult to find. If staying at hotel be sure to ask about this place as you have to drive through residential area.

Great open space,Many trails

By bynner |

When in Cambria enjoy Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. Many trails. One runs alone ocean side. Great for biking, walking running or walking dog

Best Hike Ever

By Potters Child |

One of my favorite hikes anywhere. I love being near the ocean and during this "stupid Covid" this was a wonderful place to be. The views are incredible. Highly recommend. Easy 2-mile hike, if you take the whole thing, through the meadows and along the cliffs. This is one not to miss. We ALWAYS walk here when visiting the area.

Breathtaking Views

By MRO_13 |

The walking trails are quiet easy and they take you along the coast. A few benches are located along the way so that you can sit and take in the breathtaking views of the ocean.

The most beautiful walk ever!

By abda0577 |

I have gone to Cambria many times and every times have taken the walk on Fiscalini Ranch, sometimes by myself and sometimes with my dog. It is so breath taking, beautiful and relaxing, views everywhere you look. I love to stop and look for seals and sea otters down in rocks below and always get excited when I see them.

Hike to The Ridge Trail

By Evan K |

An exquisite natural preserve. Multiple hiking trails, long walks with ocean views, pet and bicycle friendly.

Easy Walking Trails with Panoramic Views of the Central California Coast

By Ernie S |

Wide, easy walking trails crisscross this beautiful section of the Central California Coast, which sits at the southern tip of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, the largest national marine sanctuary in the continental U.S.
This 5,300 square mile region of coastline supports one of the world's most diverse marine ecosystems, and you are almost certain to spot seals on the rocks, cormorants diving in the waves, and dozens and dozens of varieties of birds chirping in the brush.
Looking for scenic views. The Beach Trail is your best bet, and not only can you enjoy the scenery but you can also rest a while on the many artistic benches made of driftwood that line the trail.

Absolutely Beautiful

By Mayarimom |

What a wonderful preserved area. The bluff hike is very easy, flat on a wooden trail. Amazing views of the ocean and many friendly folks and their dogs walking along! Will be back!

By Bob M |

30 years ago, I lived right around the corner from "The Ranch," as we called it. I took my dog for a walk every day and explored just about every inch. Today, it is preserved and there is a boardwalk. It has cliffs overlooking the ocean and there are tidepools. Wildflowers abound in spring. You can't get closer to nature than here!

highlight of our trip to Cambria

By 120151735 |

This is always the highlight of our trip to Cambria. Among the most beautiful and well-preserved areas in our travels around the country.

Wildlife is plentiful on land and in the ocean.

No wonder it is the #1 thing to do.

Dogs allowed, open space with beautiful views

By Michael H |

Wonderful open space with beautiful ocean views. Dogs allowed (no longer off-leash though). Well-maintained trails including boardwalk and many benches along the bluff overlooking shoreline, with some fireroads as well as single-track.

Wonderful place to hike along the coastal bluffs.

By David K |

Exceptionally beautiful place to hike, either along the seaward edge of the coastal bluffs or higher up on the hillside. Worth staying in Cambria just to hike here. Hikes are 2 miles or less, round trip, and are easy to moderate.

Fiscalini

By jhh5150 |

Beautiful and peaceful walk for all ages. Easy parking in the neighborhood right where the walk begins. We saw squirrels, rabbits, lizards, flowers, sea otters swimming, sea lions relaxing on rocks, etc. Loved taking nature photos and enjoying the scenery. Don't miss this walk!

Nice trail along ocean cliff

By bay_area_boss |

Liked this trail along the cliff, easy to walk with the path. To get to the trail starting point, one need to go through residential internal streets and some GPS have hard time to get you to this trail but other than that liked this relaxing walk along the coast

Pleasant shoreline trail

By KrohnAir |

Easy shoreline walk away from traffic and residential areas. About 1 mile of boardwalk and maintained trail along the bluff overlooking the ocean with several benches and viewing areas.

Gorgeous views

By Jon Matson |

I walk through the Fiscalini ranch is amazing. Especially if you've been drinking a lot of wine and eating in the restaurants in Cambria you will need to take a walk on this beautiful ranch. There are several gorgeous custom-made benches to sit on and enjoy the views of the ocean and the mountains. I love this place and it's a great spot to walk a dog as well. They have really taken care of it well.

Great ocean views

By Mlapka |

Love this place we have been coming once a year since 2008. We have seen whales, dolphins, sea otters & sea lions. Awesome place to watch the sunset.

Great hike

By We3luv2travel |

We love hiking along the cliff/coast at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. It's a great spot to watch sea life as well. Only down side is there is no restroom.

Perfect walks at the ocean

By Mom56CA |

At this reserve you have several trail choices. You can walk on a boardwalk, dirt trails, flat or up on a small ridge. On the west side all have ocean views.

Great easy hiking path

By CalifCar |

We went early, about 9 am and it was a perfect time to walk along the bluff over the ocean, about 2 miles round trip. Take Windsor Dr and go through a residential area until you reach the preserve. There are 3 parking spots and additional ones for the handicapped. The spots were filled when we got there, so we parked on the street. The walk is beautiful with an abundance of wildflowers and succulents. There are great ocean views and plenty of seals lying on the rocks below.

Worth it for Bluff Trail

By 510richarde |

The Ranch Preserve was created when a group of people got together to purchase it to avoid homes being built there. It’s the kind of place where the locals walk their dogs. We had a walk along a couple of trails, the only one we did enjoy was the one that goes along the coastline, Bluff Trail. Signage was very poor.

Great place to see the beautiful coast and enjoy a hike, even with your dog

By Ernie S |

The ranch is not easy to spot, since you have to drive through a housing development all the way to the dead end to reach the trails. But the hike/walk is super scenic and well worth the effort. Great place to see nearby Moonstone Beach from an oceanside perspective, the rugged cliffs and crashing waves. From some observation points you can see dolphins and sea otters.

Nice walk with great views

By snoopysmile25 |

We really enjoyed this walk along the ocean, but up on the ridge. Such nice view at sunset. Relatively easy walk, with varing terrain, but not hard to negotiate. A must do if you have some spare time. It took us about 40 mins to do the loop.

A Central Coast Gem

By RosieSD56 |

The coastal walk along the coast here is beautiful and in many ways we find it more enjoyable than the boardwalk along Moonstone. Once you're on the walk here, there is no traffic and cars to distract you from the ocean beauty and this walk is almost always far less crowded with people than the Moonstone boardwalk. The people you do see are mostly locals or travelers who have taken the time to find this magical place. People walking here also seem very friendly and we've enjoyed some great conversations with people we've encountered along the trail. It's a great place to watch the sunset, but some of the nicest walks we've had here have been early morning while the fog is gently enveloping the coast. We've also walked some of the trails through the woods at Fiscalini and have really enjoyed it - we've seen deer and wild turkeys galore during those walks. Fiscalini Ranch is a treasure, and one of the reasons we keep coming back to Cambria to relax and enjoy time together. It's one of the many things that makes Cambria such a special place. Don't miss it.

Watch ot for the poison oak!

By schwakes |

This place is such a gift to locals and visitors alike. There are any wonderful hikes, and beautiful vistas.

A beautiful coastal trail.

By Philip W |

A wonderful walk along a beautiful section of coast. The trails are relatively easy and the adjacent landscape changes as you go. A true delight. Homes along the road that you take to get to the main trailhead are also quite interesting.

Breathtaking views

By Christina P |

We did the Bluff trail walk. Absolutely gorgeous! So many beautiful homes in that area, several with their own private beach. We came not too far from some harbor seals on a rock not too far out in the water while beachcombing.

A wonderful walk and chance to view wildlife.

By Linda S |

The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is a little slice of early California wilderness right on the ocean. The property is expansive enough to give visitors a glimpse of life in Cambria before human occupation. Lots of sea lions and otters playing in the rocky inlets.

Impressive Preserve

By James C |

This is probably overlooked by some but shouldn't be. A very pretty network of trails featuring beach, grassland, forest sections. Take the bluff trail for some beautiful water views.

Beautiful!

By CalliLovesMax |

Perfect for walking the doggies, not to steep anywhere and can't beat the view! Great for seeing ocean wildlife.

Beautiful Scenery

By THA |

So awesome to walk on the cliffs above the ocean. One would not expect to find this little gem nestled in between two neighborhoods, but here it is.

Cant be beat

By Loves2TravelALOT_11 |

We took a hike here today and it was fabulous. The trial is well maintained and many people walk their dogs here. It's about 2 miles one way and connects the homes on the " Lodge Hill' section of town to the ' Park Hill ' section by Shamel Park. Many benches, crafted from driftwood, have been dedicated by couples or families who had enjoyed this area for years. The benches are placed in fabulous spots for a quick pause as you venture down the path along the ocean bluff. The is a ' cant miss' spot if you are in town.

Most Beautiful Walk In Cambria

By panoramarick |

I think the preserve is around 600 acres. I live just a short walking distance from the preserve and have walked it many, many times.

It is bordered on the north by a mile and a half of riparian habitat that encompasses tidal effect zones, seasonal freshwater marshes and wetlands dotted with birds. The Monterey pine forest (part of three remaining native stands in the world) serves as habitat and cover for wildlife moving between the coastal range and the ocean bluffs.

This is a stretch of coastal California barely changed by man.

It's always delightful!!

By sdrnek22 |

We often are treated to being able to view many whales on the horizon. Such a thrill! Also, once a whale and her babe came VERY close to the shore and we were able to look down upon them. See otters love this area as well.

Walk

By Mark T |

A great stop for a restful stroll. The ocean views are breathtaking. Sometimes you can see otters, dolphins, and whales.

It's the Bomb!

By fredbblock |

27 elephant seals Basking on the rocks below the ground I walked to from a trail head in just minutes...the trees, meadows, and above the shoreline...peaceful, energetic place!

Take A Hike!

By Islandgirl53 |

Take a hike along the bluffs or go up into the hills. Many trails to choose from. My favorite is the hike along the coastline. It is so beautiful. So much wildlife to see such as condors, elephant seals, ground squirrels, pelicans and gulls and the flowers are so pretty. The hike is fairly easy with many benches along the way if you need to stop and take a break. Hike close to sunset and you will see God's beauty on display!

wonderful walking trails

By Michele H |

We enjoyed an early morning walk along a few of these trails after spending the night in Cambria (Bluebird Inn) and before continuing our travels. We wished we'd had time to explore more

We found our super-bloom here!

By Julie W |

We just got back from a trip to Cambria, where we visited Fiscalini, as we'd heard it was worth a trip. We were unprepared for the beauty of this place. There were gorgeous flowers in profusion. The juxtaposition of the blooms next to the ocean was incredible. We saw many people walking dogs here. Lucky dogs! There are wonderful oversized benches where you can relax (regular benches, too). People sit by the water, mesmerized by the waves, lost in quiet contemplation of the beauty around and in front of them. We would happily return to Cambria just to take another hike here.

Pines by the Sea

By 998judithr |

Nice views, great sunset, saw sea lions, and Sea Otters, pet friendly too, relatively easy free parking.I really enjoyed it.

Bluff trail

By Tom L |

Great hiking along the central coast. We often see otters, sea lions, and an occasional whale. Other trails take you into the Monterey pine forest.

Beautiful walking along the shore

By Ruth L |

This trail is easily accessible from several spots. It is well maintained and always pleasurable to stroll along any time of day.

Excellent area to walk along the shore

By Rich179 |

Great place to walk the dogs or kids. Beautiful area saved/preserved by the locals, so respect the neighborhood it's in.

Fiscalini Ranch Preserve

By MerlenK |

A lovely walk on a well-maintained (but uneven) stretch of ranch land which hugs the cliffs above the ocean. There are benches for resting and contemplating the scenery, wildflowers sometimes. Absolutely delightful but not for those in wheelchairs.

Simply Stunning!!!

By 953suzannem |

Fiscalini Ranch Preserve has several trails from which to choose. We took the Bluff trail and parked on Windsor. Very popular and easy trail, filled with friendly people who greet all who pass. This trail with its spectacular views makes everyone smile! Love the unique benches along the route. Only a mile each way so easily doable in a 1/2 hour. Will definately check out more of the trails on my next visit.

436 acres of forever open space with marked trails~ Lots of artisan benches to enjoy.

By CambriaVictoria |

There is nothing as spectacular as this parcel of land tucked between the residential areas of Cambria. The trails are for all skill levels and the expanse of nature hides all sorts of wonderful creatures from deer to hawks, ground squirrels to red-legged frogs, and much more. There are docent-led walks so you can learn more about the flora and fauna of the area. Open from dawn to dusk every day.

Peace and beauty on the coast

By Jen B |

Beautiful place to hike. Small, so you cannot get lost, but many trails to see different aspects of the coast. The woods were foggy, moss strewn, and fragrant. The coast trail was on the bluff with sweeping views. We were treated to quite a show when the dolphins off shore rounded up a school of bait fish and the cormorants and pelicans arrived to partake of the feast.

Just beautiful views of the coastline/ocean

By a-travelin-foodie |

But check ahead and see if there's a marine layer - it's possible you could be fogged in...which is another kind of treat, but maybe not so great when you're expecting to see the ocean, and seals and birds, etc. It is an easy walk, very little uphill/downhill on the main path, unless you explore up the hill inland a bit, which is off the main path. An easy walk, we did it twice to get about 4 miles. The driftwood-adorned benches make for lovely photos, and are a nice place to stop and watch the scenery. Not too crowded, either. Plenty of parking at either of the trailheads - at the entry or along the streets.

Great place to take a walk

By Barbara S |

Lovely location to take a walk when in Cambria. Lovely benches made from driftwood and other objects. The friendliest and most helpful people walking also. Great place to walk your dogs. Love this place. Walked it everyday.

Walking the Fiscalini Trail

By 200lindamarieh |

It's hard for me to power walk through FRP due to the gorgeous view of the coastline. It's a easy walk that even my friend, who has MS, could do. Thankful that this land will be preserved for future generations.

Viaje Big Sur

By Carlos B |

This is a trail that goes along to the coast front of Cambria . The view , the colors and the wind of the sea is amazing . Worth the stop

A nice walk, morning or afternoon

By Tina A |

This is the perfect place to take a little walk in this area. You can enter from either end of it (north or south) and it is always very pleasant with breathtaking views. Along the way, people have constructed benches from driftwood that are commemorated to loved ones. So interesting and all the flowers blooming in the spring are fantastic. It does get VERY windy at times. Easy walk, not taxing at all.

Most beautiful sand beach .

By Patrick M |

We work an art show in neighboring Cayucos every year. The ranch beach is where we take friends to see the beauty of California. Being on the south side of Big Sur and walking distance to fine dining and motels , this beach is a must.

Great view

By _L_178 |

Great views, even saw seals. Was foggy windy and cold when we went in July (mid morning). Nice easy walk (we didn't go the whole way).

their

By lotliver |

I really enjoyed this place very relaxing.it is off the road a few hundred feet with a well marked sign.

Much nature in a relatively small area.

By D'Lorah H |

We only did the Forest trail. I was so enthralled with the quantity and variety of mushrooms, I forgot to look up for Monarch butterflies 🦋. Lovely forest walk. Easy trails with good signage.

Great COVID-19 Walking and Hiking

By ljoymiller2 |

Kudos to Fiscalini Ranch Preserve for instituting directional trails. It was nice not to worry about having a mask at the ready. The standard coastal loop is great walking, and you can turn it into a bit more of a hike by going up one or more of the hill trails to get a nice overlook of the coast. A lovely spot!

Easy walk but lovely

By cmrsqdx2 |

This is a beautiful and easy walk / hike mostly along the ocean. Spectacular views of the Pacific and marine life. Wonderful wild flowers in the Spring.

Beautiful Nature Preserve overlooking the Pacific Ocean

By Cetus12 |

The Fiscalini Preserve is a prime example of the way in which a tract of land that is particularly beautiful to humans and beneficial to wildlife can be preserved in essentially its natural condition, while being readily accessible to everyone willing and able to explore it on foot, by bicycle, or even by wheelchair.

In many visits there, I have never seen any "rangers" who enforce the basic rules of use that are posted, and yet I have never encountered any cases of violations of them, such as littering, allowing dogs (which are permitted on leash) to run loose, or trampling delicate vegetation. It should serve as an example to extreme "preservationists" of the way in which people and nature can peacefully co-exist, with minimal "improvements."

In that regard, the one "improvement" that would be of value would be a restroom at each main entrance. This would require particularly expert design and maintenance to protect the adjacent residential areas and the preserve itself, but could be accomplished for a price. Such funding is done by the Friends of the Fiscalini Preserve, which relies on private voluntary donations for such work since there is no admission charge.

A great walk & view!

By travelwhere |

Several friends got together to enjoy this walk. The views are spectacular. There are really cute benches along the way. Our weather was so nice. If you enjoy walking & the beauty of creation, you will be glad you did this.

Great views

By VerdeRosa |

This preserve has good paths along the cliff. Great place to get some gentle exercise and enjoy the views.

Fun and Easy Walking Path

By Carol G |

We just discovered this "diamond of a spot" on our trip to Cambria. We love walking Moonstone Beach, but did not know of this area that actually sits above Moonstone Beach, looking down on the cliffs. The scenery is awesome. Just like Moonstone boardwalk, Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is also a planked walkway that give you lots of exercise, fresh air, and delightful views. The sea otters were hanging out in the ocean and probably whale watching would be great from there.

One of my favorite places to visit

By 3farmboys |

This is such a peaceful place to enjoy a walk along the bluffs. The earlier you go in the AM, the less people will be there. The air is crisp and clean. The sounds of the ocean clear your mind. The beautiful landscape and places to sit along the way are lovely. I have driven over 2 hours one way just to come for a walk along this beauty. It is good for your soul.

A wonderful way to spend a day in Cambria!

By travelingrandma91355 |

Having been to Cambria several times, we were excited to discover a "new " area to explore. At the end of WIndsor (one of the main streets off Highway 1), there is a very small parking area (maybe 4 cars?), plus an additional small area for handicap parking. We parked, as did several others, on the street in this residential area. The trail is a loop, starting out along the bluff. Our view was, at the start, impacted by the fog, but as the fog lifted, we were treated to a gorgeous view of the coastline.
There are trail maps at the trailhead. If you don't want to do the full loop, there are places to loop back or, as we did, just turn around and walk the portion of the trail closest to the ocean.
The path is wheelchair and stroller friendly. Some is a boardwalk and the rest is very smooth with not a huge amount of variation in elevation. We're seniors and we really enjoyed this "hike".
It's not strenuous at all.
The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is huge and portions of it are on the east side of highway 1. The map shows many interesting trails. A person could spend weeks exploring all the trails!

A Walk You'll Remember Forever

By tomcochrun |

The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve in Cambria is a jewell on California's Central Coast. It is a nearly 500 acre preserve that offers dozens of hikes, walks and breathtaking views.

The Boardwalk trail is an approximately one mile walk along a gorgeous bluff with dozens of photo opportunities as well as artisan benches to give the visitor a chance to celebrate the majestic beauty of the Pacific Coast. There is a hard-pack trail for bikes, assistance devices, where dogs can run as well as a cross hatch of trails that climb to expansive pastoral overviews of the coast, or wind into Monterey Pine and Live Oak forests and even connect with Cambria's village. Walker, hiker, joggers or biker there is a trail or trails for you offering some of the most magnificent views on the California Coast.

Take A Walk

By Islandgirl53 |

Such a beautiful trail to walk along the bluffs. Whether it's morning or evening, there is always something to see - be sure to take a camera with you. There are benches all along the trail that face the ocean for you to rest or just take in the beauty that surrounds you. Wildflowers everywhere, looking out to the ocean we saw seals, dolphins, birds and otters. Lots of critters on land too. Take time to take it all in and enjoy this beautiful place.

Favorite hiking spot on the Central Coast.

By Beth S |

While the bluff trail is exceptionally beautiful, make sure to hike the forest loop trail. We were fortunate enough to run into the docent who is in charge of the trails. He was very gracious and shared some incredible history for us to see along the trail. The trail is beautiful with stunning California oak trees and Cambria pines. A nice contrast to the coast. Highly recommend!

Beautiful coastal preserve!

By Marianne P |

We stumbled on to this gem on our stay in Cambria. This preserve is an easy loop boardwalk that runs along the rocky coast, and has unique driftwood art benches dotted through the property. We strolled and watched the otters and sea lions at play while taking in a beautiful sunset. There is also a wooded area and other points of interest on this preserve that we will visit next time. Highly recommended!

Lovely spot for Relaxing walk

By Wendy M |

This is a great property with trails along the bluffs overlooking crashing surf. One sees many types of flora and fauna including pelicans, gulls, egrets and you might be luckier than us and even spot an otter. Paths are smooth and wide and weren't crowded even close to sunset mid-week in mid-September. Parking is on the street but we didn't have difficulty finding a spot.

The Bluffs and Walkway at Fiscalini Ranch are Wonderful

By Bev K |

I have visited Cambria a few times a year for the last 5-10 years. One of my great delights has been discovering the walk at Fiscalini Ranch. It makes my heart swell to walk the board walk and trails and look out at the Pacific. Last week we were lucky enough to see many whale spouts and flukes as we walked the path. There are terrific artistic sculptures that are benches where one can take it all in and just sigh! The pictures on my phone I send to family always get so many positives from them too. There are docent signs that explain the plants, animals, tide pools. I was lucky enough to have clear skies after a rainy night before. So everything was sparkling and clean.Just the best way to spend an hour or two!

An absolute must!

By GOSIA P |

This Preserve is one of the most beautiful places you'll see on the central coast! We stop by for a walk along the cliffs every time we come through Cambria. It's a must!

walk in ranch

By harry w |

scenic and easy to walk, great for dogs, allows beautiful view of ocean and nice walk thru the pine trees.

Just amazing!

By ShomiS69 |

we celebrated new years day at Fiscalini and can put the experience in one of our top 10 new year's day list. The preserve affords amazing views of the Pacific ocean and on a clear day we were able to enjoy whales migrating from Alaska!!!
The trails are easy to navigate and yet provide good exercise as you climb up the mountain; you can also just walk along the shore on an easier trail that allows you to hike down to the narrow shores to catch tiny tide pools!
Our whole family enjoyed a beautiful start to 2016 thanks to Fiscalini!

I can see for miles and miles and miles...

By Dana S |

One of the prettiest walks you will ever go on. And very doable even for those who are not physically fit. The views (if its not foggy) are phenomenal and the cool benches to sit on are so unique and fun.

Nice hike on a forest trail

By USAwalkers |

We hiked on a forest trail that starts near the intersection of Windsor and Moonstone Beach Drives. It is a nice trail, wide enough for a conversation, but narrow enough to notice that you are in the trees and near the creek.

Great HIke

By Anne H |

Wonderful hike to the headlands. Lots of wildflowers. Saw seals and hawks. Conveniently located located off CA1. This was easy hike doable b most hikers.

Refreshing Walk Along the Bluff

By Jey |

Lovely way to spend an hour scenery gazing on this spectacularly beautiful stretch of the California Coast. The Bluff walk is about a mile, with driftwood benches along the way for long pauses of ocean-watching. The walk is almost all on a wood boardwalk and is flat all the way, also accessible.

Perfect

By hikingfool2018 |

This place is perfect for a easy walk or run. You can do flat paths or some short hill work. Great views, easy to navigate. We went three days in a row, just crisscrossing all over on the different trails/paths.

A bit of heaven

By S T |

We entered the preserve directly off of highway 1, so essentially went in the back door. As there had been plenty of rain this year the entire preserve was green and blooming with flowers (along with poison oak). The trails are well maintained. We walked among the trees and felt miles away from everything, then turned the corner to a beautiful view of the coastline. After meandering down the hill we connected with the boardwalk along the coast itself.
This preserve has a wonderful combination of natural trails and well maintained paths, offering something for everyone from trail runners to wheel chair bound along with their fantastic views.
We enjoyed this preserve so much we came each day of our vacation.

A great place

By Cliff K |

This is a great small Park in the Hidden Gem of the Cambria area. If you have a family with kids there's a playground clean bathrooms a small pool that's probably open on seasonal basis in a big grassy area. it's also very accessible to the beach and it's an interesting kind of beach it's where you can hunt for moonstones and interesting rocks but the surf is very very wild to have to keep a hawk eye on the kids. the noise the ocean is very relaxing and be very easy to sit on one of the upper benches and take a nap. There are shady places to eat a picnic lunch but I'm sure during the summer it's very crowded when I went in late October he was the weather was still nice but it was also lots of places that you can sit at a picnic table and enjoy. I think the beach is a great place for seniors as well or people with a certain age you can take your time walking and not really worry about being in anybody's way.

Views, views and views

By Ken N |

My wife has RA so long hikes are not something she can do, but this hike is perfect. It's a beautiful mostly flat hike along the pacific coast. Busy with both visitors and locals. people are friendly including the many dogs we crossed paths with. Definitely a great little walk to stretch the legs a bit. Great for all age groups. Did I mention the views are fantastic. Numerous benches along the path to stop and take a rest break while looking at the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Short hike approximately 1.5 miles round trip. This is not a "hike", but a beautiful place to enjoy a stroll along the ocean. The wildflowers are just starting to appear along the trail. Nice wide trail, well maintained.

Beautiful preserved area of the California coast

By GoDeb |

Access to the Fiscalini Preserve is through a neighborhood, so there is no designated parking lot. Instead parking is along the neighborhood streets. This is a beautiful walking/hiking area with an elevated panoramic view of the coastline. We were able to observe lots of sea lions playing in the water and sunning on the rocks below. Also enjoyed seeing an array of flowers and birds along the boardwalk pathways.

Good sea views

By Seasidedad |

The cliff route is about a mile across and a pleasant walk. Flora is fairly limited and in summer the grass dry and brown so a bit dull looking. Not much in terms of wildlife on our visit in July - probably not a great month.

A must see!

By Linda B |

Just an amazing walk along the coastline with some breathtaking views!
Had a very hard time finding the entrance bug it was well worth it

Favorite Place with Jesus

By dwanderer2017 |

An absolute MUST see when visiting Cambria. It is truly where the Pines meet the Sea and the views on the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean are stunning. The peace and calm that permeates one's soul in this location is almost indescribable. This is the most "aha" place I've ever experienced in my life!

Wonderful views and easy access

By 1redheartz |

Great area for hiking with trails with something for all. We were lucky in that one of the trailheads was the front yard of the house we were renting. This took the hiker into the more wooded area and a little more challenging for older less experienced hikes. There was also a sign to take a bell in case of bears that made a few in the group a little nervous. However, lower near the beach there is parking and more level and easier paths to traverse. Parking is on the north and south ocean ends of the preserve. There are benchs through out the paths for small breaks or to take in the beauty of the area. Weather was great, lots of sun. Can't go wrong with this area for a little exercise and communing with nature. Best part - no charge!

Beautiful

By Sparty1023 |

This area is breathtaking. We walked along the bluff and saw beautiful views. The boardwalk is well maintained. We saw many wild animals including sea otters and birds.

Nature fun for all ages

By Lunette F |

I may of listed my review of Moonstone Trail with this trail. An easy way to enjoy the ocean scenery and wildlife of one of the most beautiful place on the planet.

Hidden Gem

By Jeanne2843 |

This is an amazing place to walk. The walking trails are on a bluff between the east and west villages. The views of the ocean are exhilarating and the driftwood benches along the boardwalk are unique and rustic and perfect for photos.

Nice place to enjoy trails along the beach and thru the forest

By Rogerdob |

This open area (it was fortunately saved from residential developemnt) has trails along the beach cliffs and trails thru the Monterey pines which are a little inland from the ocean. There are several entrances on all sides of the preserve. There is no real parking area...one just parks on the streets near the entrances. The forest area which is uphill from the beach seems to be more quiet with fewer people...thus is feels very secluded there. Prepare for the wind!!!! It has always been windy and cold when we have gone!

Hidden Trail Gem

By April |

After walking the Moonstone boardwalk, we continued on and found the trail leading to the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. It was worth the walk and enjoy the outdoors. We followed a small stream on the way in and on the way out we climbed up over the ridge and walked along a trail high above the ocean. It was a gorgeous view.

Close to nature at best

By Julia T |

Morning walk is the best no wind and the tides are low. The trails are easy to walk on with close view to the wild life.

Great for an ocean view walk and dog friendly

By mswsteve |

Nice boardwalk stroll with great views of the shoreline and rolling hills. Great if you have dogs. It's about a mile each way, and quite lovely at sunset.

tricky GPS directions

By figgie32313 |

Never having been there before we relied on Garmin GPS coming from north to south on highway 1. The first instructions told us we'd reached the destination on the right when we were in a forested area with no apparent parking or signage. We ignored and the GPS reset and sent us further south down Highway 1 a mile or so, then to the left side of the Highway back into the town ending up in a dog park at the end of a narrow rough road. Actually, the dog park represents the eastern end of the Preserve, although you wouldn't immediately know it, nor is it especially attractive - flat with dogs. We reset GPS again, this time determined to explore the first instructions given for the earlier Highway 1 destination. We looped around through the town, back to Highway 1 and this time pulled over on the dirt when instructed by GPS (no parking lot, and no signs) and explored. There is a metal gate beyond which there are trails, a Preserve sign, and maps! So this is the main body of the Preserve, importantly on the western, or seaward, side of Highway 1. Beyond the sign scramble up a steep dirt trail to the left for 10 minutes, take a right turn - trails are not marked so trust your instincts that you're going towards the ocean - and very quickly you'll find yourself at the very top of the Preserve in open grasslands looking towards the ocean. This is a rambling review because existing TripAdvisor reviews talk about street parking down at sea level to the north and south of the Preserve. What we discovered was a different, remote vista and absolutely gorgeous and well worth the GPS struggles.

Dog friendly ocean view walk

By McNabbed |

Well managed, walking friendly trails. Dogs surely loved this stroll as much as we did. We took in the panoramic views of ocean and mountains while breathing in the fresh salt air listening to the waves roll in. We took water so we could take our time, and stopped to sit on the unique, well placed benches.

Incredible hiking with choices of trails

By Debbie |

Every time I vacation in Cambria I go hiking at the preserve. There are lots of squirrels running around, beautiful flowers, and there are some really cool benches made out of driftwood, that you can sit and listen to the ocean and watch the waves. There are lots of people walking their dogs, and people of all ages are hiking. There are many trails that intersect, so you have lots of choices. You can take an easy walk near the ocean on a boardwalk, walk on a paved road, or walk up the hill on the many paths. Very peaceful!!

Great place for a gentle hike or walk

Super view of ocean and abundant sea life. Good place to walk dogs and just enjoy peaceful surroundings.

Great place to walk or run

By travelnf00ls |

Every time we are in Cambria we hike Santa Rosa Creek Trail and then Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, I love to run it my Husband loves the walk. Either way you how can you not love it from the pines to the ocean. We love the early morning but any time is great.

Beautiful walk. Good for dogs!

By Kathy S |

Great for meandering along the cliffs over looking the pacific ocean. There is a boardwalk and some trails. Benches are placed around the property. Ground is covered with ice plant.

A Must Visit!

By Ramona V |

Fiscalini is one of the most beautiful walks you'll probably ever experience in your life! You can walk the entire length of the bluffs or you can walk only a portion of it. Once you're on the bluffs, you'll experience a 180-degree view of the ocean right in front of you. There are no obstructions, no buildings, no distractions - just the gorgeous ocean as far as you can see. It's my most favorite walk in Cambria. If you're a walker, walking both ways is just shy of 2 miles.

A picturesque easy hike

By Irisha S |

we love this trail - beautiful ocean view, sea lions and ground squirrels. An Easy walk rather than a hike, in relaxed pace. Just smell the ocean and enjoy the beauty around!

A walk on the bluff.

By smef2013 |

Great loop of a walk. Perfect for dog walking. They even provide waste bags. Good place to see Egrets, Herriers, Hawks and other birds. Can be breezy but is always beautiful.

Nice walk with the wind.

By sylvainm483 |

We've been there based on the recommandation of the people downtown. It is a 2 hours walk just to enjoy the view and the ocean. Wonderful.

Beautiful, Scenic Hike

By DibDabDwb |

What a find! We walked from downtown Cambria out to the ocean. The trails are everywhere and very few are marked, but stop by the office in town ( 604 Main St) next to Sandi’s Deli and pick up a map. They have them outside the office, so even if they aren’t open you can pick one up. Then get out and hike. Really beautiful hike.

A beautiful place to hike.

By Mary Ann B |

A beautiful place to hike. We got lost so the signage could have been a lot better but we did enjoy our adventure!

Heavenly Views and Hiking

By Docster66 |

Cannot beat the hiking with or without pets---marvelous views of otters, occasional seals, and whales offshore. Great floral changes throughout the year.

Unspoiled Coastal Beauty for ALL!

By ChrisNMellB |

Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is a beautiful slice of the California Coast open to ALL. This fact is made all the more amazing when you drive through streets lined by luxury homes to get there . . . the preserve could have been yet another subdivision if it weren't for the people who came together to save the ranch for future generations. There are numerous trails -some are wheelchair accessible, dog-friendly, and/or OK for bikes. We enjoyed our walk in Fiscalini Ranch Preserve while visiting Cambria.

Spectacular Preserve

By jane w |

We always visit the Preserve with our dog. Maps are available by some entrances and in town at their Center. Off leash hiking is allowed, with good control of your dog. Some residents will tell you no, but other residents fought for the right and gained it. There is a variety of trails - in wooded areas on the hillside, open hillside, and on the bluffs above the ocean. There is a Monarch butterfly grove in the wooded area of the hillside. When the butterflies are present it is a magical experience.

LIKE TO WALK A LITTLE?

By Dale S |

This interesting preserve is comprised of several inter-connecting trails. We stayed entirely on the "Cliff Walk" because it overlooked the ocean with a view of aquatic birds and harbor seals. Actually, you don't walk because you want to stop and gaze, or inspect a plant, or watch the squirrels, etc. Plus, some unique benches made from driftwood are an attraction all their own ~ had to read all the memorial plaques on them. Parking is very limited, so be aware of that. In all other aspects, worth the trek.

Beautiful walk on nice trail

By Paulatrip8 |

I love walking the Fiscalini Ranch trail. Trail runs right on the bluffs above the ocean, with whimsical driftwood benches ever so often. Surf was huge last time I visited & beautiful to see and listen to!

If you need something to do on your trip and have extra time, this seems like a quiet peaceful option

By Mousey |

Somebody had a hotel was telling me a guest from LA would always come visit the preserve every time she comes up once or twice a year so I decided to go check it out. Looks like they have different entrances. The day I went there was only one car parked and as I was entering, the person was leaving by the time I was done in an hour two more cars arrived so I think it’s a mostly local place where people do their walks. I just did a very quick one hour walk before dinner time. I would like to return next time and maybe try out the other trails. I didn’t realize there were so many trails.

Wow..... What a view

By kijii |

This is a great place to go hiking. Great trails and boardwalk with stunning views of the ocean. Don't miss this if you stay in Cambria!

One of a kind benches & gorgeous vistas

By BKBrooklyn |

Great place for an easy walk (boardwalk for a good stretch), dotted with one of a kind, hand-crafted, weathered benches that are fun to check out/sit on even when you don't need a break. Gorgeous views, wonderful sense of open space.

Trails everywhere

By 805onthego |

We have walked along the bluffs before not realizing that it was part of this amazing Fiscalin Preserve. We saw humpback whales this time with the help from a local who was kind enough to point them out and let us use his binoculars. What a treat. The area is vast as trails go every which way. I hope we can make it back and try more of them.

Beautiful dog-friendly trails

By Anne C |

During a recent stay in Cambria, I was lucky enough to be staying just a few blocks from here, so we walked in the Preserve every day. I loved wandering through the forest and coming out onto the ridge with the ocean spread out below. We did some off leash loops, passing great egrets along the way. During another outing, we walked the bluff trail. Dogs have to be leashed, but you'll be glad of that since they could easily go over the cliff chasing one of the many squirrels. Beautiful place to watch the sunset.

Breathtaking views, easy, well-kept trail.

By Sojourner_mom |

THis is my favorite kind of trail, sea views, cool breezes, wild flowers and level terrain. It's also just long enough to get your exercise without getting exhausted. Locals are so friendly, too. Perfect day!

Lovely hike in Cambria!

By Selder-Travel |

We stopped off here last week while staying in Cambria. It's a fantastic area to hike! You can go up in the trees or down by the beach, or both... Very picturesque! Highly recommended!

Beautiful Walk!

By baltagan2017 |

It is such a beautiful and serene walk. It's almost like walking back through time in another country. Sea and untouched land (if you don't notice the homes far way). Every time we visit Cambria, we always take our little doggies for the walk, even if it's rainy or windy. It's too beautiful not to take the walk. I just put on my serene music and walk. Nothing compares.

Unbelievable Views and Gorgeous Ocean Overlook

By Kac |

Take a scenic walk high on the edge of the ocean. Breathe the fresh air and enjoy the majesty of nature on the board walk between the east and west sides of Cambria. Sometimes it's windy, so take a sweater if you're prone to a chill. You'll be awed by the beauty of this small, easy to navigate trail.

Easy hike in varied habitats

By Linda P |

Great area for hiking with views of the forest and the coastline. The trails are not well marked, but there are maps available at the preserve entrances

Best place to walk or just sit.

By Randy K |

Been coming to Cambria for 30 years. Haven't been in a while and the last time here, there was a possibility of this ranch being sold to developers. Great to see that it didn't go that way!!

You can hike along the central California coast and see beautiful vistas. It is an easy access trail and not difficult at all.

Amazing Coastal Views from Great Trails

By NolH |

Nice and Easy hiking or just strolling. View of the Coast North and Southward. Tide pools. Elephant Seals, Lots of Birds. Bring a sweater and or jacket in late afternoon. Breezy to Windy. Some wooden trails and there are wide trails nearer to cliffs, narrow trails take you inland and up to hilltop for views of Coast as well as Cambria itself. Wheelchair friendly. There are off leash and on leash sections for the furry ones. NOTE: There are some big dogs running about off leash with owners.

WOW

By elizabethlascheid |

Right off the 1 this is one of the best places to walk and take in all that is the Pacific ocean and all the surrounding beauty. It is not usually crowded and the trials are all pretty easy. There is even one that is fully ADA accessible.

You can go for the sunset and it is amazing. Any trail you take will be wonderful.

They have hand made huge benches to relax on, all made by artists and all different.

The flowers and brush are stunning all year long. You will be able to see the ocean with fun seals sometimes and maybe a whale or two go by.

The best hiking place with a view.

By Paula L |

This is a great place to walk and hike. You can bring a dog on a leash. Make sure to bring a jacket because it can be quite windy.

Awesome views in every direction

By Lydia G |

Take a stroll or power walk or sit on a bench. Whatever you choose, you will be rewarded by amazing beauty in every direction. The path is nestled in a quiet neighborhood. Thank goodness to the dedication of citizens to preserve this natural beauty from development.

Wonderful place to walk

This is a nice walkway along the ocean. It has wonderful views and is invigorating! It is easy to hike too. Enjoy!

Peace

By O7589FIwilliamd |

A visit to the Fiscalini Preserve is a must when visiting the Cambria area. It offers a large variety of trails for hiking or just strolling. The 3 primary paths are very walker friendly and the Bluff Trail is particularly suited for infrequent exercisers with its generous number of quaint benches and smooth surface whether it be compressed soil or boardwalk. The views are always impressive with both ocean and meadows equally attractive. Wildflowers abound in the spring and birds are plentiful too. When combined with a leisurely jaunt through the Windsor area or connecting through to Moonstone Beach a full day's activity is possible with many rewards. Other tourists and locals are always ready to strike up a conversation prompted by the scenic beauty.

Worthwhile hike

By Riles13 |

Would highly recommend hiking/walking all over the preserve. The trails are awesome and the scenery is AMAZING! No bathrooms around and bring water. There are random places to sit if needed.

Excellent Start for Any Day in Cambria

By Candice S |

First of all, thank you to the Cambria community and individuals who contributed to preserving these 437 acres. It takes vision to make a decision like that.

The beauty of Fiscalini Ranch is that it feels like a natural, rather than touristy, setting. Most of the walking trails are easy to navigate. The only challenging one was the only path open that day leading up to the small section of trees. It was pretty steep.

As others have mentioned, there are no potties anywhere. Bring your own water. Parking is difficult, so be prepared to park on a residential street and walk a couple of blocks to where the preserve begins. Most GPSs do not take you to the right location for parking or the trailhead.

The views are wonderful, the walk restful. Everyone we passed said "good morning". Along the way are a series of benches with backs artfully made of driftwood.

Taking a docent-guided walk is a great idea, but they are only given Friday and Saturday. Call ahead of time.

Great Ocean View and hiker/equestrian paths

By Matthew O |

The best of the mid-California coastline. Benchs for sitting. Go there.
Usually not crowded. Lots of local obviously run and walk there.

Easy hike, wonderful views

By Michelle M |

Easy access .Saw kites, marsh hawk, pellicans, cormorants, finches. Well maintained trails, easy hiking, benches available for breaks along the way. Would be a god spot for whale watching. Hope to see burrowing owls next visit.

Beautiful ocean walk

By 361dennis |

This former ranch is a wonderful way to walk a mile along the bluffs of the rugged cost, and then if you're more adventuresome, hike up into the hills of the Monterrey forest. Outstanding views and well maintained paths.

A great coastal park

By N8delaney |

One of my favorite places to go, whether it be biking, running, or an evening stroll. Whenever we have family visiting we come here, it is a beautiful place along the ocean. The best part is that the upper part is covered in trees, but you can walk down to the ocean so it has a nice diverse landscape. There are so many trails to explore, sometimes I'll just keep riding to see if I can't find a trail I haven't been on before. Its great because despite having so many birds, deer, etc, you can still take you dog on leash here to enjoy as well.

lovely walk

By Leslie F |

We always enjoy this walk along the ocean. Its a nice even path that is almost flat. There are also benches and always tons of wildflowers.

Spectacular Walks Along and Above the Pacific Ocean

By TinRoofRusted |

This is a must-do walk when visiting Cambria. The Fiscalini Ranch has been dedicated to public use so it is a giant open area where walkers and hikers are free to roam. The ocean path is the most popular, probably a couple of miles of absolutely beautiful coastline. You may see whales, seals, otters, pelicans, and more while on a walk here. There are several trails on the ridge above the ocean path which are also worth visiting. There are a couple of butterfly observation areas which sometimes attract Monarch butterflies (and sometimes not; it's hit and miss). Don't miss the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve when visiting Cambria!

an oasis

By 474fred |

Gorgeous views and walks along the shore and cliffs with harbor seals and their pups on the rocks and sea otters in the sea near the rocks. Rock pools teaming with life. Monterey pines and grassy hills. One draw back is the non-existence of trail markers. On the web site, the trails are given numbers but there are no corresponding markers along the trails so one can easily get lost. Some trails are closed for restoration. Nevertheless, this preserve is well worth a visit.

beautiful trails along the coast

By lpsh |

you don't expect to f ind a large undeveloped tract of land along the coast here. It is a gorgeous forest and lots of trails for hiking, including down to the beach...

A Soul Healing Walk on the Bluffs

By spaventa |

Most folks go to Moonstone Beach and walk the boardwalk. We did for years before we "discovered" the fantastic bluff walk on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. To get there, cross Highway 1 at the end of West Village and continue straight until the road dead ends at Shamal Park. Follow the road left to the trail head for the Preserve (just a few minutes by car). Get out of your car, and walk along the bluffs. Look at the turquoise and deep blue waters, watch shorebirds and seabirds, spot seals. If you get tired, have a seat on the one of a kind wooden benches strategically placed on the trail. For more adventure at the east end of the trail, walk out of the Preserve, make the first left up the street, follow it to the end, make a second left, and re-enter the Preserve on a wide dirt and cinder path open to bikers, walkers, joggers, moms with baby strollers, and dogs. By the way, dogs on a leash are permitted on the Preserve. A great walk, quiet, beautiful, open to all.

Great place to walk and see the sun rise and sunset!

By cooperkyle |

You can spend hours here! Great place to walk, sit, and view the sites. Dogs welcome on or off leash depending on which part of the Preserve you are walking in. Dogs off leash in the upper paths. everyone is so nice.

Great place to hike - dog friendly

By Dorna S |

Beautiful views of the coast, dog friendly. Easy hike. Many good photo opportunities. There is a section for leashed dogs and unleashed dogs.

We take a walk in this preserve every time we visit Cambria and always enjoy it. Crashing waves and vistas can't be beat! Nature in action!

History

By Judip |

This is worth the trip. A chance to visit History.Take the time. The way the world is going that might tale this location and due away with it also. The youth of today needs to see and be reminded of why we are free. And what cost it may have been to others, and their families

One of the Best Walk you will ever take !

By Bigred4414 |

A beautiful place to get in a good walk. Enjoy the sunset on one of the natural benches provided by the good people of Cambria. Listen to the ocean, watch the seabirds and if you look you might even see a migratory whale or two. This spot in paradise is set aside and will not see any development - ever! You are invited to come see and enjoy it.

Best kept secret of Cambria

By Helen L |

We discovered Fiscalini Ranch Preserve talking with some local Cambrians. The best kept secret in Cambria, the ranch offers several trails to walk or hike. The Bluff Trail is the most popular and the views are incomparable! We have seen dolphins, sea lions and a whale off the coast on its migration journey. You might see deer (common on the streets in Cambria) cranes and a variety of birds. This is a must see!

Great for handicapped people with a Rollator walker

By Cr1717 |

Great views and good weather even in the summer. My Mom easily did the trail with her Rollator walker. Nice benches. Saw a few sea otters.

Beautiful place to take a walk and get a smell of the ocean

By Evi_02 |

A lovely place to take an early morning walk, with wooden board planks, and benches to rest it is a lovely place to roam. Saw squirrels eating ice plants, the ocean roar as it breaks among the cliffs, the roar of the sea lions laying on the rocks, the glory of the wonderful sky as it meets the land, it truly is a place to take a moment, slow down and just be a part of all the beauty it offers.

Views, benches and open space

By Jean B |

This is a good place for a nice walk. Beautiful views of the ocean and interesting benches made of driftwood I think.

Where the pines meet the sea!

By 66Patty |

If you love to walk and have a dog- a must. If you have a dog that likes to be off leash, stay off the boardwalk. Walk the upper road and pathways. A must is the beautiful dolphin chair at the top. The trails lead up the hill and through the pines and back down.. You cannot get lost! The view is breathtaking! If dogs are off leash, make sure you have some type of flea and tick protection as they will come home with them. I have used the Seresta collars and have not had a problem, Please, please carry doggie bags and pickup after your dog.

Really beautiful beach and bluff trails on this Preserve with gorgeous views and cool benches to sit and take in the sights. What a great way to start the day!

For Hikers and nature Lovers.

By Christine R |

You can not go wrong by visiting this beautiful place. So many trails - so little time. Be sure to take the Bluff trail near the ocean. Sea otters bobbing in the surf, seals lounging on the rocks and the view. I could have spent all day there!

Unforgettable stunning coastal walk

By SuzannePennington_NJ |

The Ranch Preserve walk was a thrill. The scenery was spectacular. Spotting sea otters and seals frisking in the surf, as well as basking on the rock outcroppings was so exciting. On the 'meadow' side of the walk a gorgeous snowy egret took flight and created a vision of white against blue sky and ocean. Succulent flowers glowed against the reddish foliage. Just beautiful.

Not a boring hike on the boardwalk

By Lori M |

If you are looking for an easy hike with spectacular views this is the hike for you. One walks on a boardwalk, literally made out of boards....in good repair, along the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Scenic inlets and tide pools that you can look down upon and enjoy the surf splashing against the rocks. In June we had beautiful flowers everywhere and though it is the dry season (Calif is in a severe drought) the dry fields were golden yellow. It's about a two mile walk. One can do a loop back if so desired and another choice took you out on the rim of a hill which we did not take but must have also afforded wonderful vistas. Loved this hike. Easy for anyone and good parking. No public bathrooms. Always bring water and wear sunscreen as though it is not often hot in Cambria the sun can do it's damage.

Nice views of the central coast and pet friendly.

By 510GrantH |

There is the bluff trail that follows the coast and has plenty of opportunities for capturing scenic photographs. The trail has several ornate and uniquely designed benches. It is mostly flat and the trail is compacted dirt. You can start from either end of the trails Both are nestled in a residential neighborhood. It is a dog friendly place with poop bags and trash receptacles are also located at both ends of the trails. Any time is fine to hike with the coastal breeze although mid day in the summer may be too warm for older and young children.

Quiet, beautiful area - spectacular ocean views

By MB |

We walked through Fiscalini Ranch Preserve just before driving home from a nice weekend in Cambria. On both sides of this preserve are some gorgeous homes. There weren't many people on this walk, and it was relatively flat. Much of it had board walk planks, especially where the dirt path would have been washed out from rain. The ground was level and the path wide enough for people to pass or two to walk side-by-side. The views on the lower portion of the walk were spectacular. We took our dogs, and the entrances had doggie-baggies so the path can stay clean. We took some beautiful pictures of the coastline and some nice selfies using the benches along the lower path of the walk (close to the cliff).

Beautiful hiking in hills along the ocean!

By Susan S |

There are numerous trails for hiking: some among the hills, some in the forest, and a handicapped-accessible walk along the ocean. There are sea otters year-round visible from shore and frequently there are sea lions visible. Whales can be seen during migration. Small animals and many birds can also be watched. There are several benches available a various locations. I live nearby and walk here year-round.

Absolutely outstanding- Not to be missed

By 120151735 |

We almost skipped this on our way out of town but it would have been a huge mistake. Tons of seals and other wildlife in this fabulous preserve.

Different from Moonstone Beach walk but equally impressive

By trra |

To access this beautiful preserve you must drive through a residential area on the far end of Moonstone Beach area. There is a choice of several different trails. We hiked the Boardwalk trail along the Ocean cliffs. It is moderate level but absolutely beautiful.

High Bluffs,Sweeping Views

By Michael R |

This preserve was saved from housing development and has turned out to be one of the smartest ideas for Cambria. A walk above the bluffs will fill your soul. Pelicans, gulls, egrets, loons ,and hawks fly overhead. A place to reflect.

Short distance from Moonstone Beach and Downtown Cambria

By KarenK518 |

We discovered 2 parking lots. One is off Highway 1 at Windsor and the other one is off Highway 1 at Burton. Since social distancing is encouraged, they would like all hikers to walk in a clockwise direction. The views are incredible, the squirrels are active, the benches made from driftwood are unique, and it’s refreshing. There are many paths to take up the hill also. Brochures are available in holders by the parking lot. Highly recommend skipping some shopping in town and do this instead.

Windy day

By Mariann K |

Gorgeous view on this beautiful preserve. It was super windy, but still worth doing. Ocean view the entire time on the path. The entire loop takes just an hour. Part of the way is on a wood boardwalk to preserve plant life and part is hard dirt. Fairly easy walking. Definitely recommend if you have time.

Sophisticated strolling in natural perfection!

By JHBrewer |

What a lovely nature path, and how lovingly maintained. One could easily imagine that the surrounding fields were "untouched nature", but in fact they are carefully protected against invasive species and every sort of "weed". Lovely! I get more than enough of "untouched" nature on Vancouver Island.

Just be cautious on the dirt "cliffs" overlooking the rocks and waves below: they are just dirt, and could cleave away from the rest of the dirt at any time -- especially after a heavy rain. (So you're probably safe for the rest of the summer. :-)

Turn LEFT at Main St. signal off Hwy 101 and follow Ardath to the end for this incredible place. Do it!

By GetOutAndAbout |

What a splendid square mile of coastal California real estate! The citizens of Cambria ponied up a million dollars in 1990 to purchase this property and preserve it from development forever. The blufftop trail features unique, artwork of driftwood benches, at least a dozen, each situated at a spot of astounding view. The coastline is like Highway 101 for marine bird life: a close-up, neverending highway of gulls, pelicans, coots and cormorants. We saw single elephant seals napping on the rocks, and a wealth of squirrels on the bluffs. Locals walk their dogs on the good boardwalk or crushed granite trails, and it's not crowded, even on summer weekends. Simply stunning Central Coast vista.

A Great Place With A Great Story

By SueFromWinnipeg |

This is a fantastic ocean-front piece of property that was saved from development and turned into a nature Reserve - all thanks to the Fiscalini Family and local citizens who didn't want to see just more houses covering this beautiful ranch land.

Lovely walking trails with some done nicely with board construction and more trails just gravel/sand.

Viewing benches are spread along the trail and all of them offer unique views of the Pacific Ocean waves and wildlife.

Breathtaking views and great trails. Entrance is free

By David R |

Breathtaking views and great trails. Entrance is free. There are quite a few trails and a good trail map as you enter the Preserve. A number of different entrances as well.

Easy Walk with Amazing Views of the Pacific Ocean!

By liltiger2 |

It's not for beach access but it's got amazing views of the ocean and a lot of wildlife. We strolled along and could see seals perched on the rocks below, condors flying what seemed like right next to us, squirrels scurrying around, a snake and even a crab. It has several benches to sit, relax and take in the beautiful scenery with the sound of the waves.

Nice ocean trail hike

By Joseph L |

The Fiscalini Ranch trail is an easy hike on boardwalk and dirt around a beautiful cove filled with crashing waves, tide pools, and all types of sea birds. We even saw otters. There are benches for watching the ocean throughout the hike. Just a minute or two by car from Moonstone Beach.

Great Coastal Hike/Walk

By Raewyn L |

Love heading over to Fiscalini Ranch Preserve to walk our dog. Can choose to walk the "boardwalk" or, as we usually do, head up into the hills to hike with our pup off leash.

Wonderful place to enjoy nature at its finest.

By Peggy I |

Many trails for hiking along the ocean as well as through the forest. Unique benches along the trail to stop to take pictures and enjoy the views. We took our Australian Shepherd and he enjoyed the hike with us.

Absolutely beautiful!

This is a beautiful walk through ranch property along the ocean. Wildflowers, birds, and even very interesting rest stops along the way. Take a camera. Part of walk is wheelchair accessible.

Fiscalini Ranch is Fabulous!

By Karin W |

Although many people know about Moonstone Beach, there is an equally impressive area to walk called "Fiscalini Ranch." It is about a mile loop, and from the boardwalk path, there are lots of little trails leading to benches and other lookout points. It's a great place to bring dogs. The views are spectacular with the ragged coast on one side and lush greenery on the other. You can enter the area from a residential neighborhood and park on the street. There are other ways to get to Fiscalini, but I only know about the residential street entrance. No restrooms. I do not believe the trail is wheelchair accessible, but I could be wrong.

Wonderful well-protected trails and area

By Stephen W |

This is a "must see" attraction in the Cambria. I highly recommend the Bluff Trail. It has great ocean views and the wildflowers are now in bloom. Kudos for the excellent job of preserving the habitat.

The Preserve really is - it is located in the middle of residential development in Cambria. The trails are superbly maintained and wind through an area of great natural beauty.

Spectacular Hike Overlooking the Ocean!

By traveler75071 |

Spectacular easy hike overlooking the ocean near Moonstone Beach. Parts are covered with boardwalk, so wheelchair accessible. You can run or walk, but you will find it hard to not stop frequently to take pictures and just be awestruck by the overall beauty of it. Really cute benches built with driftwood are dotted along the hike.

Beautiful hike

By Diem T |

Fantastic views during the hike/run. Weather was perfect. It does get crowded but everyone was super friendly. There's park benches and a boardwalk, so it's an easy trail.

A wonderful walk

By pamela1944 |

How fortunate we are to have this open space right on the ocean. Walking is easy due to boardwalk paths. The views are magnificent. At regular intervals are artistic, and comfortable, benches crafted like sculptures from driftwood.

Gorgeous views!

By Vacationers62 |

Beautiful views of the ocean, the rock formations, and a great hiking boardwalk with interesting artsy benches to sit!

Beautiful , well maintained trail

By carlotaTravel4fun |

We walked along the Bluff Trail, which is an easy walk along the bluffs overlooking the ocean. It is a level, easy stroll on a well maintained trail....some of it on a wooden boardwalk, some on a well packed dirt/gravel path. You follow Windsor Blvd in from HWY 1 and it dead ends at the trail entrance. It is in a residential area and actual parking is very limited, so you park in front of people's houses. I asked a resident if it was a problem and if the people minded us parking in front of their house, and he said that it wasn't a problem. There are other, a bit more challenging trails along the ridge. A very pleasant area for a stroll with a beautiful backdrop.

Wonderful views, easy hike, restful benches, sea otters in view

By Mariann K |

Easy hike and readily accessible. Most of the hike on a boardwalk and then compact gravel or dirt path. The views are glorious, so good for a person - birds flying overhead and otters playing down below. Easy walk, some folks with canes.

Beautiful Walk with AMAZING VIEWS!

We were told this was a lovely walk and WOW! This trail is very friendly with nice paths, wooden walkways, and unique benches along the way. We met up with many over-friendly squirrels, that we started calling "trolls" on the bridges. It's obvious that they have been "treated" by some and therefore had no problem approaching people. Our daughter was a little scared, but we made a game of squirrel watching and truly enjoyed every part of this trail. The views of the ocean were stunning and made it a trail that we will make time to enjoy in future visits. The trail is fairly flat and makes for an overall easy walk. I have ruptured discs in my lower back and I was still able to carefully walk and sit at some benches along the way. I did see a sign for wheelchair accessibility. I can't remember seeing any tables along the way, so I'm not sure that a picnic lunch would be easy - especially with all the squirrels. I highly recommend taking this walk - even if just for a small break to stretch your legs while traveling along the coast.

Great view- nice little trail.

You're not going here for cardio; you're here to enjoy the view.
The trail is level and easy. Maybe a mile?

Go walk the hills in Morro or SLO if you are looking to get your heart pumping. This is all about the leisurely stroll.

Been here a few times and it is a breathtaking view. It is clean and dog friendly. We took breaks along the benches along the way, there were maps and off the beaten trails as well.

Great Walk

The Bluff Trail was incredible with beautiful views of the ocean. A mist covered the water and the beautiful memorial benches along the path allowed us to take a brief respite from the walk; you can park at either the South or North end of the trail.

Was windy and cool, left jacket in car, so short hike! Most vegetation died off, so bluff well best for views. Met docent and had nice conversation. He reminded me there is forest area on Ranch also. Don't miss. And for dog lovers, this is preserve, so well behaved dogs OK off leash, except on bluff. Don't want them chasing ground squirrels over the cliffs, which has happened 😥

google maps sucks

do not follow google to get here. we asked a local with better directions after a frustrating time. we enjoyed the walk very scenic lovely beach views, nice path, very flat for easy walking.

Well maintained bluff trail

Beautiful trail with driftwood benches along the side. The ocean views are great. You can also hike inland a bit as part of this preserve area. One day we say at least 8-10 common egrets in the immense field.

My happy place!

This is one of my new favorite places. I wasn't expecting much with the name "ranch preserve" in the name, but it ended up being truly amazing! Beautiful bluffs, some covered with wildflowers, and waves crashing into rocks in the ocean. The path is very walkable and stroller/wheelchair friendly. There are also smaller paths (look closely!) if you want to walk towards the edge of the bluffs. Benches are sprinkled along the way for when you just want to stop and enjoy the view. There are so many breathtaking views. I saw some interesting birds, harbor seals, and a mama and baby skunk! I also liked that it wasn't crowded. I came back a 2nd time to watch the sunset. It was definitely the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen.

A beautiful easy hike along the Ocean and through wooded areas. Perfect for dogs, kids and anyone who enjoys an easy picture perfect walk. Not too crowded and close to town. Many different paths to enjoy.

Perfect place for an easy hike!

My husband and I did this hike after an overnight stay and visit to the Cambria Christmas Market. After the crowded market it was great to walk and enjoy the peaceful bluff that was once planned for development of many homes. Thank goodness the locals and others got together to purchase this land and developed the various trails. Vistas are wonderful and our only negative experience was a local woman who walked just behind us for one mile talking on her cell phone evaluating the Jimmy Kimmel show with a friend. I asked her to keep her voice down she was offended and said it was a business call. Recommendation: Do you business at home on you patio and let the visitors from out of the area enjoy this special location and listen to the waves crash. No charge for this and parking is available in neighborhoods at each side of the hike with is only 2 miles round trip.

Amazing

I loved the driftwood architecture. The ruggedness of the terrain and the fact that it was also a preserve.

Very pleasant stroll along the coast.

Beautiful morning walk. This is a jewel set between two neighborhoods. Very popular with the locals.

Beautiful and serene!

Fiscalini is a beautiful place to take a stroll. The walkway takes you all around. You can see the otters and seals down below playing in the water. They have some unique sitting areas along the trail. You have to drive through a residential area to get to it and follow the hotel map. Its easier to find if you are already accustomed to staying on Moonstone Beach. Well worth the hunt for it.

Lovely place for a walk with great views

This is a beautiful place to take a relatively easy walk (its one mile) Good for all ages. There are several areas to sit just o enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean. Dog friendly. For a longer hike, there are side trails leading up the low hills.

Beautiful walk by the ocean

The ocean boardwalk trail is short and flat. The views of the ocean are gorgeous. A nice walk to stretch your legs

Disappointed

We tried to find this spot but failed. We followed the map and gps but could not stop at the spot it said to due to safety concerns. Some markings or maybe a sign would be helpful.

A great and beautiful walk on the pristine CA coast

A relatively easy walk on the boarded walkway with gorgeous views of the Pacific and beach. Take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the serenity of God’s beautiful creation. Peace and joy await!

Stroll or Hike....You Choose

By SanDiegoHistProf |

This is a wonderful preserve. If you want a nice seaside stroll you can keep to the boardwalk near the ocean. Sometimes it is windy. It is always beautiful. If you want a hike, take the seaside trail and then make your way up the hill into the woods. It is vey magical there. We have run into deer that last two times and there are other surprises too. Stay on the trails as there is a lot of poison oak. In the wet season some of the ravines are pretty wet so some good boots can come in handy. The trails are not well marked, but you can find your way around easily enough from the views. There is no way you could get truly lost, because you have Highway 1, the ocean, and two neighborhoods surrounding the preserve.

Very friendly place

We’ve stayed many times in Cambria, but were not aware of this area. The trails were all fairly easy, and the all were pet friendly.

We loved all of the unusual benches placed throughout the area.

We didn’t walk the higher elevation trails, but stayed closer to the ocean.

Great place for a walk (you pick the speed), or a jog. Lots of nice dogs to meet.

Beautiful hike!

By Debbie |

This hike is just enough challenge for someone who hasn't been exercising, due to working 12 hour days. I saw people of all ages on this hike, and lots of older adults with their walking sticks. There are wonderfully hand made driftwood benches to sit on if you get tired. And I got some beautiful pictures to commemorate the hike. There are lots of squirrels to watch, and if you are fast enough, to take their picture. This hike is good for all ages.

Better than we expected.

Hike the forest and the beach all in one day! Beautiful trees at the top of the reserve give lots of shade. The volunteer-built benches are great for picnic lunches. After wandering around in the forest we hiked down to the water. Beautiful!
