My wife and I are senior African Americans. Although the museum was closed on Sunday afternoon, we really enjoyed our visit to the fort. Ft. Duncan is now a combination of old Buffalo Soldier Fort and city park. The park was bustling with families doing summer cookouts and watching boys and girls participate in team baseball/softball games. The remaining old fort buildings appeared to be authentic and were well preserved. Still standing are the Post Headquarters(Museum), Commissary, Bakery and Powder Room(Ammo). Seeing the grounds and walking to and from the same buildings as Buffalo Soldiers once did was a very 'moving' experience for me and my wife. On our next trip to Eagle Pass, we will visit on a day and time when the museum is open.

The fort is very old and on the Texas Mexico border. The buildings are mostly broken down and easy to move through and imagine the daily activities that took place there. There is a museum on site, but they were closed for lunch when we visited. We will go again next time.

lots of parking lots to see, lots of history, very nice and historic place Mr Taylor very Knowable about History in town and the area. Ask him about the Army airport in the 1940's

The docent(Oscar) was extremely knowledgeable and more than willing to answer questions. He gave us the choice of self touring or having him guide us which was nice. We had him guide us and are glad we did. I would recommend this, particularly if you have any interest in Texas history, aviation history, etc.

This site is situated very close to the Mexican border and is a fort with a lot of history behind it. It's comprised of a variety of different buildings and a museum based around the history of the town and the fort.

I was absolutely blown away by the museum- it's packed full of interesting artefacts from the city spanning the majority of its history. The staff on site are a fountain of information and truly have so much passion.

I was lucky enough to tour at the same time as a pair of former Eagle Pass residents and it was so interesting to listen to all their memories of growing up in the town from the High School to the Eagle Grocery that it really brought the history to life.

A true gem in Eagle Pass. The Fort Duncan Museum (location is old Commander's headquarters) provides fascinating tales of this Wild West era Fort plus the interesting history of Eagle Pass itself. Mr. Taylor is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the history of this border town and the Fort that is the reason for its existence. After a visit to the Museum, take a stroll around several of the surviving buildings of Fort Duncan, plus check out the ruins of the old Fort Duncan Club that once hosted the likes of John Wayne, Charles Lindbergh and President Lyndon Baines Johnson. We heard that in the future the old Fort Duncan club could be restored and made into the future location of the FD Museum. So while in EP, make sure to swing by and check this place out.

Walked in and looked around the exhibition rooms. It has many historical things in display from the town. The Native American clothing was interesting to see. The grounds still have the fort buildings but were not open to tour. Hopefully one day the buildings can be restored to persevere the history of the actual fort. As a visitor, it would enhance Eagle Pass's tourism and bring more family things to do while in the area. Overall it was a nice visit and the docent was friendly. The buildings photographed nicely. We are glad that we stopped by for a visit.

Fort Duncan Museum is located in Eagle Pass, just a few hundred metres from the Rio Grande River, the natural border between the USA and Mexico. The museum is mainly devoted to the history of Eagle Pass and it`s surrounding area and depicts the many ups and downs endured by the people over time. The displays are varied and very interesting. The staff are friendly and attentive and eager to share their knowledge of the fort, it`s history and life in Eagle Pass in days gone by. A rewarding visit. Highly recommended !

Eagle Pass is a little thin on attractions for most tourists, butFort Duncan is worth a 40-minute stop. When I visited, the guide was a very personable and knowledgeable ex-military dude who knew his stuff cold.
The museum has more on Eagle Pass in general than the fort itself, but all in all was very interesting due to the location on the border, and the excellent collection of artifacts and clippings.

We really enjoyed our tour of the museum. Mr. Aguirre did an awesome job relating the history of the area. It was time well spent.

Not open. Front door padlocked. Broken windows on building, obviously not being maintained. The grounds are maintained but the building itself isn't. Too bad. For history purists, the historical fort area is slowly being taken over by neighborhood/children ballparks (they look nice) & playgrounds.

Walk up expecting a good history lesson about Texas, Mexico, Native Americans and historical people. The care taker was a part time person with full time knowledge and he loved to talk about the history. I listened and learned a lot. It was free to enter and look around. There was contribution bucket at the door and I was glad to add to the kitty.
