Great tour but short for what we able to see due to the rain. Great information from our guide Michael. Would definitely recommend when it is not raining

Unfortunately foggy. However we had a great guide Stephanie. Very knowledgeable. Describe the history of the area and terrain

We had a great time at gold belt tram learning about native tribe, Michael was a great host. He answered all our questions. Thank you!

The Goldbelt Tram (formerly the Mount Roberts Tram) is located just steps off the cruise ship dock. In operation since 1996, it makes a six-minute ascent up Mount Roberts from the lower terminal to a height of about 1,800 feet. A restaurant, theater, and retail shop are located at the top of the tramway, as well as connections to various trails.
We wanted to take the tram up the mountain but the top was shrouded in clouds for most of the day. However, it did clear late in the day, so we opted to go up. That said, there was a world of difference between 2018 and 2024. In 2018, the weather was perfect. It was a beautiful, clear day and one could see for miles. The mountains were pristine and snowcapped. This year, while clear, it was still dull and a bit misty and the mountains were dull and shrouded in cloud. Also, when we visited in 2018, it was peak season. There was an injured bald eagle on display, as well as a number of other displays and demonstrations – things missing during this off season visit. On the other hand, there were no crowds and some items in the gift shop were deeply discounted.

If you haven't been on a tram previously either in Albuquerque, Gatlinburg or other place this is really a disappointment and not worth the time or money. It is a great view of Juneau at the top. Spend you time around the other sites or activities. Actually the main street of Juneau is about 90% jewelry shops but fun to explore anyway.

Stephanie has shown us the top of mount Roberts, has given us explanations, shown us native plants, trees, and gave s information about the history and inhabitants of the areas.
We highly recommend her for the guided tour!
Great Job!

Very informative and loved to learn about the totems we saw around the harbor. Both tour guides were very knowledgeable about the specific tribal significance and/or mythos around each totem, and answered any of the follow up questions we had. Would recommend for sure!

Taking this large 'tram' up the mountain was a little scary, as the wind was blowing very hard, however once we reached the top, the views were amazing, so definitely worth doing.
Experiencing the native heritage talk and film as well as seeing their art work, was also fantastic.

Met michael on the trail, he was very kind and very informative, learned so much about Tlingit culture!!!!!!!!!!!! Had a great time on the tram

I honestly didn't think I would like this, but I did! I got several great photos and the exhibits up on top of the mountain are worth the visit.

Michael was a wonderful tour guide, we learned so much and had a great time! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the tram/Juneau

Did a quick but fascinating tour at the top. Plants, glaciers, climatology, continental theory, and local history. The views are incredible too.

Micheal is very friendly and knowledgeable. His introduction gave us many great insights about the history and local communities.

We went on this tram 6 days ago. Comple waste! I emailed the following to the tram website that day, while waiting in line. I've gotten no response, for them to give their side. so I am left with no choice, but to post this publicly.
I want my money back!!!!
And an apology.
We, a group of 7, are here, visiting from a cruise ship, along with 95% of your customers. 90 minutes before our departure, we take the tram. We walk straight on. A pleasant 5 minute ride to the top. Conversing with the Operator.
We arrive at the top to only find a line extending hundreds of feet out the door! With people telling me that they have waited an hour in line. What a bunch of crap! We paid $50 a piece, to potentially miss the departure of our cruise ship. No pictures taken, no exploration, no movie, no gift shop. Just get in line, to hopefully return in time, to not wave goodbye to our ship!
How could this worry have been prevented? By simply saying that the line to return was an hour long. How unprofessional. How easy to have it remedied. What a waste of the last hour and a half in juneau.
I expect to be contacted by the end of the week. I only feel sorry for the hundreds of people in line behind us.
Michael Heacock

I fully admit that the 5 minute ride (10 minutes round trip) to the summit is spectacular as are the views from the observation point but at $60 dollars per person it’s really not worth the wait time queue and the chaos when boarding the tram.
Their boarding process makes Southwest Airlines boarding process look professional, the pushing and shoving to get on the tram after waiting in a long queue is uncomfortable, people are anxious and not everyone adheres to basic hygiene standards.
Juneau is a wonderful town, there are a significant number of sightseeing opportunities and taking advantage of those is in my opinion a far better use of your time and money.

Overpriced at $125 per person; the tour did not match the description. My husband is Native American as is my son. I took this tour hoping to learn more about the Tlingit people but sadly I did not. The first tour guide showed us the totems on the boardwalk and basically described the animals on each totem but not their stories or deeper meaning. We could have gotten this information from reading the signs ourselves next to each totem. The tour does allow you to skip the tram line and go to the front of the line. Then another tour guide on top of the mountain points out the plants and the totems but speaks in generalities not tribal/ Indian nation specifics. I learned more from Norman, a tribal elder, who introduced the free movie for all the public, than from this tour. On the plus side, the guides are eager to please and very friendly and accomodating and willing to hike with you as much or as little as you like. I am very happy to see indigenous entrepreneurs and with a little fine tuning, this could be marvelous experience.

Michael was awesome. He gave a a great deal of information about the Tlingets and their totem symbols. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, Michael.

Stephanie was amazing and was very knowledgable <3. My husband and I love nature and very much enjoyed our tour/hike. The views are spectacular and well worth the hike.

The tour was by a native, Greg, who told us all about his family and heritage. Along the way we learned about the various totem poles, tribes and clans, and the history of Juneau. It was entertaining and enlightening. Very educational and enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Michael gave us a great tour and told us all about the different totems and native culture. The views were amazing, but the guided tour really enhanced the experience!

Michael was my tour guide and theater host. He explain and presented very great and informative information of the totem poles and the difference between tribes. I would recommend Michael for your guided tour. Excellent experience!

Exciting ride up to the top. (it has nothing to do with any gold mining, however). Nice views, very good movie about the native Alaskan culture and tribes. Nice walking trails if it is a good weather day. However, I think $55 per person is outrageous! I feel this was worth about $25 per person. For $55 per person take a taxi to the Mendenhall Glacier instead!.....better walks and better views!

Greg was an amazing tour guide for the Native American Trail tour. I’d definitely recommend that you do this tour before the tram ride if you’re at all interested in history. We learned so much about the history of indigenous people in area, as well as the healing properties of several plants. Plus, the view from the tram was spectacular!

Goochuhoo wolf teeth, Michael Who was our tour guide to understand his culture The Tinglet was Amazing! A tour you do not want to miss if you are in Juneau and go to the top of the Tram.

Stephanie was very detailed in explaining totem poles and flexible on the hike length. It was a rainy cloudy day but the hike up the mountain was nice.

Great views of the harbor down below as well as Mt Juneau, Mendenhall valley, Douglas, Auke, etc. Tour guide had lots of info on native plants in the area as well as historical info on the town and surrounding areas.

Wow was this overpriced! While the view was nice, unless you are going to hike there wasn’t much up there. Unlike the Banff tram that had a really good restaurant at the top, this was very average bar food. The beer was good. Again, view was nice but not worth the price.

The Mount Roberts Tramway Cultural tour in Juneau offers a captivating blend of cultural and natural beauty. At the top, the experience deepens with a visit to a cultural center showcasing art and traditions. Highlights include intricate carvings, vibrant paintings, and live demonstrations by local artisans, who share insights into their heritage and the significance of their craft. The combination of breathtaking scenery and rich cultural education makes this tour a memorable and enriching experience. Hurricane Maggie was a complete joy with her stories and knowledge of the town!

The movie in the theater and the nature and cultural history tour was outstanding. Damien, Tlingit native Alaskan, was truly a fabulous and knowledgable tour guide!!!

I don’t recommend spending the money on the tram if there are multiple cruise ships in port. You get packed in like sardines and completely miss the potential beauty of the tram ride. Way too expensive for what you get.

We had an excellent experience. We didn't go on a field trip, we went on our side. We pulled the ticket without queuing. It was all very fast. The views from the "tram" give you a wide view of the place, serves to realize where you are. When we reach the top, we walk along different paths. The views are very photographic. Lots of greenery.

Sadly, mother nature was not cooperating with our Juneau visit. Overcast, foggy and raining hard on and off we got to the tram for the 2nd part of our excursion from our cruise ship. This was completely self led at this point. We rode the tram up and I hoped we would be above the clouds but no luck there. Because of the weather we really didn't have a view. Tram was nice and not over crowded. The shops up top were pricy but that's generally accepted in a tourist area. We were starving so ordered some fries from their restaurant with drinks - the service was fast and nice. Again, prices were high, but you're also paying for the shipment of the food up the mountain.
I really, REALLY wanted to go for a hike up there. They have a cool little trail through the rainforest with the occasional totem alongside, but the weather wouldn't let us get far before we were covered from the knees down in mud and water. We turned around after a short time and headed back to the mountain station. Lots of shopping opportunities up there with very nice employees.
I hope, if we ever get back to the area, that the weather is more cooperative. I feel like I didn't get to cover much of Juneau at all, let alone the nature up on top of the tram.

The entire experience was informative and fun!
Out tour guide, Michael guided us through the trail and gave in depth teaching of native ways and history . The totem poles were quite fascinating!
Great afternoon!

A very interesting tour with a local guide! Michael explained each legend and the lineage behind the totems. He was very patient with our questions and made sure we walked at a manageable pace. We recommend the tour, which lasts between 1-1.5 hours. Lots of useful information! Also, the tour gives VIP access to the tram so there is no waiting!

Stephanie is amazing. The tour was very enjoyable and informative. Without her expertise we would have walked past so many points of interest. Thanks again for the great tour!

Michael was a really engaging & informative Guide, proudly sharing his culture and history with us. He is undertaking Alaskan native studies at University which added further detail & depth to his commentary

We almost didn't do this due to the price point, but are glad we went up the cable. The view was impressive, the film presentation informative and lunch was very good and reasonably priced. If you buy tickets from an off site retail seller, like Keli's Concierge, at a hotel, you can score a slight discount.

Stephanie took our family up the trail to the Cross. She had interesting facts about the area and the trail. She moved easily up the trail but was nice enough to slow down and take breaks. The only thing I would note is that she is a natural hiker and may be leading groups that dont take to it so easily. Thanks to Stephanie for a great experience in Alaska.

Greg was so amazing. We learned so much about his culture and family. We enjoyed learning about the totems and trail markers. The scenic views were breathtaking.

Very good tour. Excellent. Very attentive, knew all the information and offered many options. Deep knowledge of the area.

The view was outstanding and the tour was enjoyable and educational. Michael did an amazing job showing us around! Beautiful place!

Tram broke down for our trip back down. Only one side was taking people down so we waited over an hour to get down. This was bad enough but the kept bring people up with no way to get down before dark. Very poorly run operation. Would not recommend. Also it cost 50.00 per people. For that kind of money they should treat their customers better.

I’m a Juneau local, and was thrilled to learn more about the place I call home. Micheal was a great tour guide! He was knowledgeable of the area with personal anecdotes to share about his experience. Even in the classic rainy weather, Michael was such a professional! A great mix of history, culture, art and plant life.

I can tell Michael is heavily involved in the culture. He was very informative about the trail and the science behind everything that is up top.

Michael was really knowledgeable, patient with any and all questions, as well as extremely professional. If you ever use the tram I would recommend him 10 times out of 10!

Very knowledgeable and pleasant personality. Answered all questions. Went at a good pace for all of party. Thank you Johnny for a great experience

We had a couple hours in Juneau before a planned excursion and decided to take the tram. The ride was fun, unique, and the views from the top were great. We enjoyed taking a hike around. I would not recommend buying tickets ahead, just get them when you get there, especially if you are on a cruise. The tram is right by the port. It is expensive for a short tram ride but the hike and views made it still worthwhile.

Michael did a great job! Cool stories! It was interesting learning about the different carvings and the meanings behind them. Wish there were more stories.

Loved Norman’s introduction to the film. Loved the weaver near the restaurant. We received a personal tour from Mr. Brown along the trail. It was fantastic.

My first visit here in Juneau. Had the great experience of visiting the Grand Tram & learning about Tlingte culture.
Michael & Samantha gave us a totem pole tour. They were knowledgeable & I learned so much! I highly recommend. Do the Tram & TOUR!!

this guy is literally a legend. he is so good and is the best one. chill guy, and gives very good info and is very funny. DEFINETALLY RECOMMEND!!

Chelly was so informative and accommodating to our needs to walk slow. Her description of each totem pole was amazing. The tram ride was smooth and the view from the top was great.

Nick Lekanof was amazing! We had the best time! We will definitely do this again! I have never had so much fun! He was the best

Wait time to come down from the top over an HOUR! Middle of August. Very touristy. View was wonderful which is why this got a 3. Wait time to go UP the sardine packed tram was only 30 minutes. Tram millennial employees talked so loud about work issues no one could hear the recorded narration about the area. But we all know about their work issues.

Wonderful tram ride up Mount Roberts (Roberts Peak) with awesome views of Juneau, flower gardens, totem poles, gift shop and excellent restaurant Timberline Bar & Grill where King Crab was had along with a nice beverage! Great experience!!!

My family and I are so glad we discovered this tram experience! We loved to tram ride, and hike to the top of the mountain, and the view below.

So-So. They cram folks in there and people are fighting for window space. After you get to the top, there's nothing really much to do. We went up, looked around for about 10 mins and came back down. We did get some fantastic pics though. It's expensive at $50 per person and not worth it really. If the price was lower, I would probably feel differently.

The views are spectacular. We arrived by cruise ship as did thousands others that day. Would do this early because the lines built up quickly and throughout the day.

Michael is a great tour guide. I greatly enjoyed my tour with him. I was fortunate to have beautiful weather as he shared his knowledge.

Our trip to Juneau was highlighted by an amazing tour on the tram. The ride to the top offered breathtaking views and smooth travel, providing a unique perspective of the stunning landscape.
Our guide was fantastic, sharing fascinating historical insights about Juneau and the tram’s significance. The stories and facts added a rich layer to the experience.
At the top, we enjoyed panoramic views that were simply awe-inspiring. This tour beautifully combined adventure with a deep dive into the area’s history. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Juneau!!!

This tour was amazing! We learned so much about the local culture and saw the most beautiful scenery. The hike was enjoyable and the weather in July was great.

Stephanie was amazing. Thank you for your informative tour. Must see when visiting Juneau Alaska. Trail was well kept.

Great Experience, Tour was very informative, Michael was a great tour guide. Tram Experience was very nice, Alaskan Beer hazy ipa was very good,

Super helpful narration of the areas geography, indigenous culture, local flora, and history. Highly recommend to give some context to your hike!

We had the most amazing time hiking the trails with guide Stephanie. She was very knowledgeable on the area and the history. She was also very attentive and constantly checking to make sure we were good to
continue. This is a beautiful area and a must see when you come to Juneau!!

Our Alaskan native guy did an amazing job sharing and explaining the Alaskan culture to us. We really appreciate it how informed he was and what he was willing to share with us.

Awesome tour that teaches you about the history of the people native to Alaska! Fun tour guides that are local grown that make it both fun and informative

Very nice, friendly native guide giving us an interesting tour explaining the native culture expressed in the totem poles.

Nicky was an enthusiastic tour guide. He really brought the energy on an overcast Juneau day! I learned much about Tlingit and Haida culture, as embodied in the totems along the boardwalk. I interrupted him a lot to ask questions during the tour; he took it all in stride, and fed off the energy of all of my questions. Highly recommended!

It was great, Michael was a great guide and I really enjoyed hearing the stories. I learned a lot about the history that I didn’t know before and I’m glad I got to add this to my knowledge

Meh, meh, meh. So it would be average at best but at a price of $55 per head it is just gross extortion. A 6 minute ride up on the tram does give you a view of Juneau and the cruise ships but then it is over. You are subjected then to endless wampum shops and you must jostle with the crowds of obnoxious cruise ship passengers. A terrible waste of money and time.

Michael was so friendly and gave me a tour of the upper tram area and lower harbour area. He was friendly smiling and gave me so much knowledge about the indigenous clans of Alaska. It was so fun and I appreciate him walking in the rain to show me around this beautiful city

Gold belt tram is excellent tour experience. We highly recommend this tour. We had Micheal as our tour guide. Very experienced
Very acknowledable of the totem poles

Michael gave a very thorough tour explaining all the totem poles and answering all our questions. Also detailed explanations about the eagle and raven tribes history

Everything about this “adventure” was horrid. Overpriced, underdelivered and a major, MAJOR waste of time. To begin, we had to wait in line for 45 minutes to board. After about 30 minutes in that line, an employee came by and advised us that the wait to board a tram back down, was now an hour and a half. That’s when I started having doubts. However, I’m a avid photographer and the ride promises “Spectacular Views,” so we stuck it out.
When we arrived at the top, there were no signs or employees telling us where to go to find the “Spectacular views.” There were plenty of signs and announcements directing us to the restaurant and gift shop, but the only views we could find were of the harbor and pretty severely obstructed by the tram infrastructure. On one pseudo-sign opposite the tram building there appeared to be some hiking trails to supposed photo spots, but it wasn’t at all clear and the hikes were 30 minutes or longer. Since we had already spent the day hiking, we weren’t up for another hour of hiking just to get to the closest photo point. We waited a while on some benches to see if the LONG return line would get any shorter and it didn’t, so we got in line. BTW this was around 4:00 pm. The return line took us about 40 minutes. By the time we were down, it had cost $60 each for hardly any pictures and NO “Spectacular views.” Plus, given the wait to board at both ends, it was almost 3 hours of our vacation time absolutely pissed away.
You have been warned.

The views were of course amazing, and we had a clear day to go up. Some nice hiking trails at the top although it had rained recently so it was quite muddy. You need sturdy hiking shoes for the hiking. Beautiful views, but a bit of a wait until they stuffed you in the car to go up or down the hill. Typical tourist stores at the top, but at least they had a bathroom. Recommended if you have the time.

Highly recommend visiting the Goldbelt Tram in Juneau. Not to be missed! Had an awesome Alaska Native Tour with my guide Greg. He is an absolute legend with his knowledge of the area, culture and floura and fauna! Was way more then I expected. Massive thanks again Greg and the Goldbelt Tram team.

Our cruise ship stopped in Juneau so we opted out for the Goldbelt tram. It was worth the trip to see the beautiful sites from above. Walked some of the trails plus stopped in the souvenir shop to pick up few things. The weather for us worked out okay. Access to getting up & down on the tram was seamless with a short wait.

Very Informative and interesting! It was lots of fun despite the rainy weather. Would definitely do it again if I ever come back

Michael was amazing! Loved hearing about his culture. The short film about their culture was very informative as well.

A great tour! Michael was brilliant adapting the tour for our children and sharing lots of knowledge in an interactive way for them. Would highly recommend!

My daughter and I are terrified of heights but we both loved this. Even though there was a bit of snow around we enjoyed a short trail walk. The views were amazing and I recommend this attraction to others.

Amazing, with Michael, the explanation was good, and also the views were Amazing, I really love it, I recommend you all to come.

Greg was excellent with the information.
I could live here. It also had great views and the trails we walked were in great shape and well taken care of.

This was a great tour at the top of the Gilbert tram. Micheal was a wonderful tour guide with a wealth of local native information. Would highly recommend.

Michael gave us incredible tour, he was a wonderful guide. He was so knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely recommend.

We had such a great experience learning about the native clans and their culture from an employee that was actively practicing those ancestral traditions. We learned so much and had a blast with conversation. Highly recommend the tour, film, hiking and tram!
P.s. Michael wish the best tour guide! 😄

Michael did a great job taking us around and teaching us about the history of totem poles. Highly suggest for anyone needing a guide

Although the mountain was engulfed in fog as we ascended the 1800 ft to iour drop off point, we still had some stunning views of the Alaskan wilderness. Our tour guides Stephanie and Mike were very personable and patient as we hiked the winding and rocky trail. We are young 70s, but a bit more hesitate than the younger folks. Stephanie was a wealth of knowledge as she described the fauna along the way. As well as the history behind the totum poles and local tribe cultures. There were 2 observation decks that allowed for photo opps. All in all, it was a very pleasurable experience we would recommend. We don’t drink beer so didn’t partake in the ale experience, we did have lunch at the Timberline restaurant and shared a delicious king crab leg lunch with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The gift shop was fun to explore too.

Really great experience. He filled a short time with much history, relatability, and efficiency. Very good for anyone who wants to learn more about the culture and carvings!

The tram rises at a steep angle, but feels totally safe flying over the treetops. Views of the cruise ships far below vie for attention with snow capped mountain peaks at the horizon line and a lush forest immediately below.
The free movie at the top gives a partial history of the Tlingit people and how they care for the land and the sea. The gift shop contains many authentic items from the indigenous peoples.

Nicky was enthusiastic and lively with lots of information about the totems and culture but I would appreciate more details and fluid telling of the actual stories depicted by the poles. QR codes on totem signs did not work.

Michael was a great tour guide! He had lots of information about totem poles! We enjoyed our impromptu tour. Would recommend.

Fantastic guides!! Just incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They are also local so their perspective is truly unmatched. Short and sweet but long enough to get good information then we went to the front of the line and spent the rest of our day at the top of the mountain. Definitely recommend!!!

Thanks for the great tour! I loved learning all the lore of the area. Thank you for sharing 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

The fog finally cleared and awesome view. Juneau is. Pretty city. Lovely shops with lots of souvenirs to choose from

Greg is a very knowledgeable guide. Enjoyed learning about the people groups. To do this tour, you must be able to walk inclines on rough terrain

Took a ride on the Tram on a recent trip. The ride was short less than 10 minutes and lifted you approximately 1,800 feet above the water below. The tram operators shared interesting tales of the area during the transit. Once on the top you can walk trails, they have a restaurant, and gift shop. The platform on the top offers a good view of the city and port. Worth a look if you're there.

Cool tour by Michael ! Was able to learn about local history and walk around the hike. The hike was smooth and easy. Great view from the top

This is a complete tourist trap. $55 per person is very expensive. Once you get up you are stuck because the line to come down is a lot longer than the line to go up. For us the line to go up was 15 minutes but the line to come down was longer than 90 minutes. If you are not careful with your time - you can easily miss your cruise ship departure.

Micheal was amazing with his cultural knowledge and area history. He was enthusiastic to share the historical background of the totem polls and what the meaning of designs were.

Michael was a great tour guide telling us about the history of the totem poles after our ride on the tram. There is also a 15 minute film I recommend seeing before the tour.

This is a short but very scenic sky tram ride. When the cruise ships are in the trams are very full.
The harbor views of the town, cruise ships and mountains are spectacular. There are shopping, dining and outdoor activities available at the top of the mountain.
Its a tad pricey at $50.00. But, its still worth the money.

Michael was a great tour guide about the cultural heritage of the area and totem poles. Wonderful experience and great photo opportunities

Very knowledgeable and very fun! There was lots of information and it was a really fun time. It was rainy, but we got to do it anyway my guide was very helpful and his name is Michael Michael. McKinley. Everyone should come up here and see this and learn the true stories.

Very interesting and informative. Michael was very informed and you could tell he enjoys his job. Loved the tour it was great.

We went on this tour to get a better understanding of the First Nations history. We were impressed with the tour guide’s knowledge and manner of providing their stories and songs!
We took videos and photos that will help us remember this tour!

We had an excellent tour from the top of the tram. Stephanie was brilliant and very informative. We learnt about the totem poles and plants around the tram stop, walked to the observation decks and Stephanie even took us on a hike towards the top of the mountains. The tour was personalised to us which was fantastic so we could do as little or as much hiking as we wanted. Thank you!

Micheal was a great guide! We really enjoyed our experiences! There was a lot to see! The movie was very interesting! Also, the gift shop was very nice!

Horribly rude stafff . The only mar to a wonderful trip . My first trip to Alaska and we have had a great time . Except for the horrible rudeness of the staff.

Good tour,Michael was very informative and knowledgeable about not only the culture but the Science and environment.10/10

Interesting tour learning about the native population and totum poles. I nice simple tour in a beautiful location. The tour guide, Michael was very nice.

The trail is nice and had a great time with Michael, great tour. Learned a lot about his culture and the totems, each one has a meaning and they are all amazing!

This was the highlight of our Alaskan Vacation. Nicky was fantastic and set us up with Greg for the walking tour after we reached the top of the mountain. We would highly recommend adding this to your tour schedule. They both were so knowledgeable and helpful; we loved it!

Expensive and not much to do. Once on the mountain, you will be greeted by a souvenir store and a restaurant. There are some areas to walk around and the view is limited. Also, the lines are long.

Time well spent. The tram is literally feet from where the cruise ships dock. The tram runs frequently and transports 60 passengers per trip, so the line to board moves fairly quickly. The view is spectacular (like all of Alaska really). Three hike options are available, and most of our party completed the moderate level. Fantastic pictures. Some of our party did the “hard” option and reached to the top. Everyone marveled and the views and the wildlife. There is also a small lodge positioned away from the main building that has food plus beer or wine. Perfect place to sit back and enjoy the view. And we got a wonderful view of a bald eagle! See Picture.

Wow! Michael gave us such amazing knowledge of the totems and Indian lore. He went above and beyond any expectations! Thank you!

The views were so pretty and the tour guide was amazing!! Stephanie showed us so much and was very informative. 10/10 recommend!

The guide was very knowledgeable, and tried to be aware of time constraints to fit between showings of the video also shown at the lodge. Easy walk, good path, with good but slightly sparse/largely surface level information. As I had experienced it, worth $10-15 for the Native Tour alone, tram was $50 at time I went. A longer tour version with more indepth info would be amazing, though I could see that being difficult if there are issues with protecting tribe history/rituals/heritage and information released to the general public. The tram and lodge were also very pleasant. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience overall.

Old Bear was a wonderful tour guide he explained all about the totem poles and was very careful about my wonky knee. Highly recommend Old Bear as the tour guide

The tram takes you up 1,800 feet. The ride is very quick and very smooth. The platform at the top provides amazing views. There is also a little visitor center that plays a film about the indigenous tribes of SE Alaska, which is very informative. However, I'd skip the restaurant. It's expensive for underwhelmingly average food.

This was great. Wonderful information from a very knowledgeable tour guide. Love the viewpoints! The tram ride was neat too.

Appreciated totem pole portion of tour from Native Alaskans. As this is early in their experience with this specific tour, i expect the content and presentation will improve with time. Stephanie was extremely knowledgeable on a wide variety of topics from geography of region to indigenous history and flora and fauna at the top of the tram. Sorry we didn't have more time at top of tram.

The trail is beautiful and despite gloomy weather it is very accesible to guests. The story of it is very interesting. Looking forward to coming back! Michael was very friendly and insightful.

Wonderful narrated tour by young native Tlinget
Sharing colorful stories of the various totem poles on the Juneau Gilbert Tram trail. (1/4 mile).

The views from this tram are amazing. Once at the top, there are several totum poles and a very nice gift shop and restaurant. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it smelled delicious.
Our day was clear and you could see for miles and miles. We did the hike and it was nice. It's not paved but it's not a hard hike. You don't even need hiking boots. My son was wearing cowboy boots and my husband was in sneakers. Weather proof footwear is best as it can be slightly muddy.
Another reviewer mentioned they really cram you on the tram like sardines so that may be off putting to some but you can ride multiple times so you can get a lot of different views. It's pricey - like $50 a person for a family of four but compared to some of the other prices of Alaskan tours on cruise ships this is a bargin.

It's one of the few touristy things to do besides shopping and eating in Juneau, so for that reason I'd say do it, it's a cool fun thing to do once. But I wouldn't do it again if I went. Pricey, and very crowded. But good view of the ships and the town and the mountains and the skyline, and we did see a couple eagles!

Stephanie was a fantastic guide! So knowledgeable about the plants, topography, and history. Excellent time and I would recommend highly.

Had a fantastic experience with Nicky sharing some great insights on the Tlingit culture and the art/storytellung of Tlingit titem poles. He was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. He made the whole adventure worthwhile.
Was also able to talk extensively with the resident artist who is currently carving a totem up on the mountain. Great movie as well. Saw some spectacular views from the tram/gondola and the mountaintop.

The views were amazing from the start. Great food and drink options. Stephanie is an amazing tour guide, definitely recommend!!

Loved the history & insights provided. Excellent guide Michael provided information on clans, totem pole, etc. We loved the views & trails too. Thanks for a nice tour.

It was a very informative tour of the area and culture! I highly recommend it! The guide did an excellent job talking about the totems poles and it’s history.

The views and personalised stories around the totem poles and the people who made them made this tour truly worthwhile. Michael, our tour guide, was really nice, informative and knowledgeable. There’s so much history to what we were seeing and if he hadn’t explained to use what we were seeing we would’ve missed a true golden opportunity to learn and appreciate the history and culture of the place. Top marks all around.

We chose this excursion while on a Alaskan cruise. We were told the views would be spectacular and the sunset would be breathtaking. That was hype! The views were very nice. But certainly not spectacular. And you can’t see the sunset at all because the sun goes down behind the mountain. (WTF?) But the very most notable thing about this tram ride is THE LINE. If you are there on a day that cruise boats are in the harbor, do not waste your time on this activity! We wish so much that we not have. When we first arrived, the line was 2 1/2 hours. So we went shopping and got something to eat at the twisted Fish place (which was very goodbye the way) and went back when the line was shorter. We ended up waiting 37 minutes to get on the tram. When we got off at the top, we were alarmed at how long the line was to go back down. And it did not get any shorter! The trails are well-maintained. We were impressed with how solid the steps are. But there are very few signs. Once you start on a trail, there are no signs whatsoever. So you just have to wing it, and ask the people that are coming down. It was funny how many people we asked as we were going up, and as we were coming down just as many people were asking us. So there is a dire need of more signage. When we got to the top, it was a nice view, but very similar to what we could see when we first got off the tram. We like to exercise, so we were happy that we hiked to the top. However, if we know what it would be like we wouldn’t have chosen this excursion at all. The wait is pretty unpleasant, you have to stand the whole time, & the tram is a standing ride as well, and as everything is at a cruise terminal ports it is super commercialized at the top. It looked like there are a couple of gift shops at the top, and a café and some kind of a film (which we didn’t watch). We decided to go back down about 7:30 at night, and the wait was about 45 minutes. The only bright spot for us was the good work out we got going up the steeper side of the trail. But we do wish we had chosen something different for our day in Juneau.

Stephanie was a fantastic tour guide, so passionate! Loved the whole tram and trail experience! Definitely recommend the experience when in Juneau!

Our ride on the tram was nice the morning was clear, the view spectacular. We were in Juneau on our own so we chose to ride as soon as it opened. There is a interesting and educational movie you should take the time to see when you get to the top that gives a wonderful overview of the Tlingit culture and history. there is a nice gift shop and restaurant. It wasn’t it busy at all near opening but I can see how it could develop into a crowded view and long lines at certain times of day. As we were going back down the traffic was already picking up.
Your ticket is good all day so depending on how much time you have you could ride up more than once. I agree with another reviewer if you buy your tickets in advance and it is overcast an rainy you won’t have a good view but if you don’t you could find yourself in a line that it crazy. If you are arriving on a cruise you won’t be able to see and do all Juneau has to offer so I would recommend saving your tram ride for the extra treat if you have time before returning to your ship.

We had such a fun tour up to the Cross, Stephanie was our tour guide and was so knowledgeable! We went at our own pace and enjoyed the scenery all the way to the top! Definitely will go again before we leave for home!

Joined the tour as we were walking the trail. Chelly was awesome and really knew a lot about the local culture and fauna. Definitely worth it!

Micheal was an excellent tour guide, we learned the history of the native people and the significance of the totem poles.

It was short. The view was so cool. There weren't many people. The staff are ok. Best for anyone, good for families. The experience was cool.

The view is beautiful as long as you’re not afraid of heights. The line to board the tram is very long. There is a great gift shop and restaurant at the top with some viewing areas. Then you wait in line again to board to get back down.

We took a tour in the Cruise ship, after visiting the Mendelhall glacier, we took the tram, from the top you can find one of the best view of Juneau

My partner and I ventured on the Goldbelt Tram which took us to Mt. Robert's where we didn't have an agenda, but wanted to know more about the place. Asking around for more information we met a tour guide, Michael, who offered to give us a quick tour. He has heritage that goes back to the tribes native to the land centuries ago. Hence his knowledge about the totems and carvings along the trail were extensive. He had a great personality that made the tour even more memorable.

We had tram passes for the day from the car rental company that we used (like a local) so we did enjoy the tram ride. That said, at the rate charged for walk up tickets, we would not do this - a 5 minute each way ride for 60 bucks per?? Nope

Too long a wait, both up and down. Forty minutes plus each way at 4 pm. For $55 per person and wait time along with being jammed into the gondola…save your money.

the views were amazingggg and the tour was extremely informational with personable guides. they’ll take you as far up the mountain trails as you’d like.

We went on the tour with Mike and it was not only informative but really made me feel close and connected to the native Alaskan history in this area. It was amazing to be told the history by a descendent of the people we were learning about.
Thanks for the lovely stroll!

Very informative! Great guide - he knew everything. Learned a great deal about totems and the culture of the native people of Alaska.

We had a guided tour and Michael told us the history of the totem poles on Mt Roberts and the many clans associated with the region. Thank you, Michael!

Michael was a very good tour guide. He was very interactive and enthusiastic!! Really good with holding a conversation. Made the experience really memorable!

Clear, informative, friendly and done by a native Alaskan person. I did a short tour with George around the trail (~15 min). Still worth it.

This was a great ride! Sad that we only had time to go up and down once! Very impressive view, nice gift shop! Loved it! We were on a cruise so didn’t have time to go up and back again.

If you don't have a lot of time, don't do this! When we were about to board the tram going up, we were told there would be a 45 minute wait to board the tram on the way down! That's a waste of time standing in line when you could be doing anything else. Also, if you don't plan on hiking, the picture you see advertised for the Goldbelt Tram is all you really see up there besides the small gift shop. If you have time, you can watch a short video, but overall, it was very disappointing.

Stephanie was a fun and knowledgeable guide. She answered all our questions, talked about the history of Alaska, the plants, animals and the many totem poles we saw on the walk to the viewpoints. The views from the mountain top were great and the gondola ride was fun. We enjoyed the excursion very much.

Fast and efficient, this tram offers sweeping vistas of Juneau and the sound. Stunning views in all directions and a great amount of trails to follow at the top of the mountain. Worth it

My husband and I took the tram up Mount Roberts on a slightly overcast day with periods of rain. Luckily, we were able to see some amazing views and hike to Father Brown’s Cross before the sky opened up and poured. The scenery was spectacular! We also ate at the restaurant (crab nachos) and had a couple of drinks. Both were great!
Definitely worth the trip if you have a couple of hours to spare!

Great information and knowledge on totem poles and local culture . Many thanks to the local guides on their friendly attitudes

Nice ride to the top, and great views. They have the shops at the top and restaurants, but they also have some hiking trails there too. So if you don't want to hike all the way up or down . You still have comfortable trails to walk on the top and look over the water. Unfortunately the wooden cross was knocked down from rot but it's still there just laying on the ground.

Very cool experience! Beautiful views on the way up, at the top, and on the way down. Cute store and great hiking at top as well.

Definitely worth seeing! I do miss the chili fries at the restaurant. But the views are great On a clear day. Sometimes there is an eagle to see.

We went on a guided tour with Michael atop the tram in Juneau. Very interesting and informative in learning history of the clan. Really appreciate Michael for the opportunity to listen

Michael was great and knowledgeable! He made sure we were all together and filled in on all the history of the area I would highly recommend

Michael was an amazing tour guide! He was great at explaining the history of the area and the culture of the tlingit. Nice job having a veteran on staff.

We got off of our excursion from our cruise ship and had time to go up the Goldbelt tram to the top. It is reasonably priced and you get fantastic views. I would say a must-do in Juneau.

Johnny and two other boys guided us and showed us a fantastic time. Not only did they show us the beauty of Juneau, they blew us away with their wit, facts and stories. They were very professional and very happy to do their job. It’s refreshing to see the younger generation inspired in nature and fuelled by sacred history, keeping it alive. We felt inspired and connected after our experience. We would recommend anyone to have the experience we had. Always offering to take photos of us unprompted. Please let these boys know we’re very proud of them and appreciate their hospitality -Sarah and Jayden

The guide tour was very informative and kind! Loved the free tour and route. Stephanie was our guide, and she was extremely patient and knowledgeable of the local culture and history.

I had read all the great reviews about the tram so we headed there when we got off our ship. There was basically no line, we waited bout 5 minutes to board the gondola. The ride to the “top” was about 5 minutes. The view is good but it’s not the top of Mt.Roberts where they drop you. They have a large restaurant, a free 18 minute video about their Indian heritage and a gift shop. Then you can walk to another building with another gift shop and drinks for sale. If you want to get to the top of the mountain you still have 150 foot of elevation you have to climb on a dirt (sometimes mud) trail. They did have a few Totem poles that were cool and the scenery was nice, but it was nothing like it had been described on the reviews I’d look at.
For $50 each, don’t really see it was worth any where near the cost. That’s a lot for a 5 minute ride each direction. We hiked part of the trail, but didn’t feel up to doing the whole trail due to the steep elevation change.

Excellent walk through provided while walking on the trail..... Stephanie was a great guide and very knowledgeable. Would suggest others to take the tour.

Stephanie our guide was excellent and knowledgeable. We totally enjoyed the hike and all the history. I recommend them. We got a head of everyone taking the tram. No waiting in long lines

Tram ride was nice. Employees were better. Love the tour. Learned so much. Would recommend to anyone.totems were amazing

Michael was a great tour guide, he was very personable and informative along the trip! If back in Alaska we will be back to do it again

Very personable and informative telling not just about the area but the local native culture and traditions. Highly recommend

Way overpriced. $55? $200+ for a family of 4. Ripping off families that can’t make the hike up. Sure there’s nice trails up there and you get to see a bit of nature, but they also want you to spend another hundy+ at their restaurant or gift shop. Raising prices by $5 every year. If you go, just know you’re being suckered. Left me more angry than enjoyed. Shame.

Michael is a fantastic storyteller, and does a great job weaving narrative, history, and science together for a fascinating tour. I loved walking around with him and picking his brain! It was a really special, individualized experience.

I loved the walking tour! Stephanie did a fantastic job breaking the fauna and flora of the region. I liked that she is able to customize the tour based on your physical capacity. We would have gone further if she didn’t have pending evening tours! I highly recommend this tour if you’re in Juneau !

Michael gave us a great tour of the totems with lots of informative perspectives on Tlinget culture and history. We appreciated it!

Ms Stephanie Gupta is an excellent and very knowledgeable guide, such a wonderful person and takes pride of her tasks and displayed her passion about the history, people and nature.

The Tram ticket was part of my Mendenhall Glacier tour. There was not a guide, just a ticket to go when you can. The Tram is right by the port where the Majestic Princess docks. The ride up was fun. Great views from the top. There is a coffee shop and a store. As well as a museum and a movie. I did not see the video. There is a 2 mile trail loop at the top of this mountain. Some interesting Totem poles too. Great views. If you have time I would recommend it. Especially if you like hiking around in the woods looking for bears!

Great tour from Michael. Very passionate about his Tlingit culture. Highly recommended if you are visiting Juneau Alaska.

Stephanie was a amazing tour guide was very knowledgeable on all history. It was great showed us a great hike up the mountain!

It was raining and foggy, Michael said he would be very happy to still walk the tour with me. It was interesting and he was very knowledgeable.

I had questions about the native culture, and asked staff. In turn i got a personal tour at the top of the tram ride. Michael is a student at UAS. He studies indigenous governance and art. He is an excellent guide. He explained the meaning behind all the totems on the trail, which is beautiful in sunny weather.

Michael was veryfriendly, natiral and warm. He is clearly passionate about his heritage and the history behind his great stories. He clearl loves to shate and educate and his enthusiasm and excitement in his sharing was compelling.. Definitely recommend!

Stephanie was friendly and very approachable. She kindly asked if we'd like a guided tour and WOW! Her knowledge was incredible. We loved our impromptu mini hike and the views were stunning.

Great information, personable and informative. Michael knew a lot of the history and explained the cultural background of the beautiful totem polls.

Michael was great! He told us about the local culture! We ran into him on the totem pole trail and he told us about the totem poles on the trail. The weather was very nice and beautiful.

excellent. many trails that are very good. good food and drinks. very good shops. excellent ride up and down. could see harbor very well

Fantastic experience. Loved my tour guide Jerry! So glad I had the opportunity. It's a must do for anyone that comes to Juneau.

We had our tour with Nik - the best tour guide! He was so engaging and knowledgable about the culture. He had amazing recommendations, and we had a lot of fun! I would not miss this tour if you are visiting Juneau!

Awesome! A must do. The guide Michael, is incredible and so knowledgeable! Definitely do not miss this. And see the film as well!

My husband and I take the Juneau Tram every time we visit Juneau It’s fun and gives you the best overview of Juneau On top there’s a restaurant walking trails and gift store We’ve been up there 11 times and always seem to find something new to buy in their gift shop you can’t buy in town

Michael was very informative at the top of Mt Robert’s. He gave us a tour of the totem poles and the representation of the symbols and colors on the poles. He also answered all of our many questions and was respectful. I highly recommend you watch the short movie first.

My husband and I recently visited Juneau and decided to take a ride on the Goldbelt Tram. The tram was located very close to where our cruise ship docked. The weather was clear and we had an enjoyable ride . There was a fairly long line to board the tram, but the line moved very quickly. Do not let that deter you! Once at the top, we got off and enjoyed a light snack and cold brew in the restaurant. Beautiful views. A fun treat was attending the native film and performance in the theater. The production was VERY informative and we are very glad we attended. Finally, we took the totem trail hike and finished off a very lovely afternoon. Do not skip this attraction. It is worth mentioning that the ticket you purchase is good for the entire day, so if time permits you can ride the tram up more than once. Also, it is a good excursion for people of all activity levels.

Your guide Michael Mckinnley did a great job showing us around. He was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He made sure that we felt taken care of.

Extremely disappointed with this company’s customer service. I requested a refund the same day I made a purchase and have reached out three separate times with absolutely no response. It’s unacceptable to ignore customers completely—especially when the request was timely and reasonable. At this point, it feels like they’re just hoping I’ll go away. I strongly advise others to think twice before buying passes online.

Absolutely gorgeous views and loved the information. Great job by our guide, very friendly and helpful. Enjoying the time with my kids and grandkids

Michael was friendly and knowledgeable! Great and easy walking trail and Michael had many stories about each totem pole

Amazing tour with Michael where we learned all about plants, totems, and native history. Kids and adults both loved it. Recommend getting a local guide tour when you take the tram!

Stephanie was a wonderful guide! She is very knowledgeable- we learned a lot! The views were breathtaking. Plus, it was great getting to skip the line to the tram. :)

Stephanie was an amazing tour guide on July 28th on our recent trail mountain tour up to the beautiful cross on Mt. Robert. Her extensive knowledge and fascinating insights about the area truly enriched our experience. Friendly and professional, she made everyone feel welcome and ensured our safety and comfort throughout the journey.
The stunning mountain scenery was made even more memorable by Stephanie's enthusiastic and engaging guidance. She expertly planned the route and highlighted the best photo spots. If you want an outstanding tour experience, Stephanie is the guide to choose. This was part of a 7 day cruise and it was definitely one of my favourite highlights of our trip!! Highly recommended! Thanks again Stephanie!!

Wolf Teeth was an amazing guide and knew a ton information about the carvings and totem poles, as well as the culture of the tribes around the area. Would strongly recommend everyone make this stop in Juneau!

Michael is an amazing tour guide and informative historian. Enjoyed his tout immensely Very interesting and informative

Awesome! Felt like I learned a lot. Loved that we got the personal experience of the tour guide. Think it will be great when more poles!

The view is incredible. I watched a movie about the tlinget tribe and then Samantha and Micheal gave us a tour through the Forrest and explained the history of the tlinget tribe raven and eagle and ask about the guy who ripped a seal in half. :)

Micheal was very good on explaining the native culture. Too bad the weather was rainy but overall was a good experience. The tram was a lot of fun as well.

Johnny was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable! He shared his culture as well as pointing out all the different plants. He makes you feel comfortable to ask any questions. Also goes at whatever pace you need to.

Brilliant way to see Juneau from a high point but it's a hefty $63 per adult. Some good view points from the top plus shops, restaurant and toilets

This place is the epitome of the adage "not worth it". $50 just to bring you up to an expensive gift shop? Do not go unless it is a blazingly sunny day. The ride is a minute and a half, and it is so badly organized up there that it is impossible to find the raptor center, etc. Their cafe at the top is gross,--dine elsewhere in Juneau. I went because the town advertises it so much but OOF, not worth it. Do not go up this, I promise you are not missing out. A note for cruise ship passengers--some people NARROWLY missed their boat's curfew because the line back down can be hours and hours long. Proceed with caution.

I’ve been on many Trams but this one was a little different… a little steeper and seeing the beautiful mountains and water was breathtaking. We rode it twice! Totally enjoyed it!

Very knowledgeable! Michael was kind enough to show us different views. I will definitely recommend this experience to friends and family!

Apparently they are doing trial tours which will be for a fee next season. Only suggestion would be to put a small sign by each totem describing it so a photo would memorialize the story.

We enjoyed the Indigenous People show at the top that was informative about the history of Alaska from the perspective of the natives. We were there on a cloudy day so the view at the top was not super. We did see an eagle in a tree on the way up. The ticket allows you to ride as many times as you want during the day.

Our guide, Greg was so incredibly informative on the history of the local totem poles, in fact his grandfather carved one of them! His passion for his people and heritage was palpable. Grateful for the knowledge he imparted with us!

45+ minutes standing in line both to go up and just as long to come back. Nice views along with good food and beer. I think there were three cruises in port, so I can't fault them for the lengthy time. However, I wouldn't do it again if the lines were this long.

The views were spectacular. The authentic weaver and video of the Tlingit people were very interesting. The outdoor view from the restaurant patio did not disappoint. Also, the hiking trails were enjoyable and offered amazing views.

Thank you Norman and Greg. I am wooshkeetaan from xuna. I've learned more about the land and clan stories. You brought me closer by singing and dancing.

Stephanie was an outstanding guide and illuminated so many beautiful historic and nature facts about the tram area in Juneau, Alaska. I definitely want to bring my children and grandchildren back to experience this extraordinary place. Merrill

Great view! Very informative tour by a very knowledgeable guide (Stephanie)! I learned a lot on the local history as well as plant/wildlife.

Michael gave us a tour and gave us the history of each of the totem poles. He was extremely passionate and engaging with our group of 6! It was awesome to hear about the history and meaning behind each totem pole.

We had a wonderful trail walk thanks to our guide Chilly. She is so knowledgeable regarding the natural surroundings and Alaskan history.

My son and I very much enjoyed the quarter mile trail cultural tour. We enjoyed the stories about various totem poles, the view and our guide., Michael!

The Goldbelt Tram travels up Mount Roberts, which is a 3,819 foot mountain near downtown Juneau, located near the cruise ship docks. The Goldbelt Tram can carry 60 people from sea level to 1,800 feet up the mountain in 6-minutes. It gets its name from the mines in the mountain which opened in 1917, and closed during WWII. Almost 3 million ounces of gold and other precious minerals were taken from it.
We rode the Tram up Mount Roberts in the mist. That was probably not the best choice as the mist turned to fog and then light rain. We decided to walk the ½ mile Alpine Loop Trail anyway to try to see more of the Gastineau Channel, but we never got above the lowered cloud ceiling before the rain increased and the trail got slippery and muddy. We decided to turn back, as we weren’t dressed for those conditions. The fog mostly obscured the view from the trail outlooks. We did see some examples of the Sitka Spruce and some totem poles along the way.
There is a restaurant at the tram’s docking point on the mountain and we enjoyed a hot lunch there before descending. During the descent, the fog lifted a little and we had nice views of Gastineau Channel.
The Tram runs from mid-April to mid-October, depending on the weather.

Informative walking tour with Michael. Many amazing views and stories about each totems. Highly recommend touring these trails

Great tour by Michael! Interesting information about the totem poles. My husband and I enjoyed hearing the history of Tlingt Indians.

Whilst the view was good the staff were very unfriendly. We waited over 20 minutes to get on and were very crowded in. Enjoyed the views of the town the short hike and the film was very good. Again waited over 30 minutes to get back down which was disappointing and having to deal with very abrupt staff was not good

My family and I loved having Stephanie and Kaleb give us a tour of the Gold Belt Tram. They were very knowledgeable of the history and fun facts about Juneau. If you are ever to take the tram I highly encourage you look them up!

Michael did a great job showing us around and explaining all the totem poles and plants. Very interesting and informative.

Michael, was an amazing tour guide. He guided us to the top of the mountain where we experience spectacular views! Definitely captured beautiful photos that we will cherish forever

Michael is an amazing guide and knows about the totems and history of the crests. It was a great short hike filled with some great information.

We got a guided tour of the short trail with Johnny. He had lots of energy and shared good information about vegetation, the totem poles and view points down below. We really enjoyed it!

This was a complimentary shore excursion provided by American Cruise Lines. A wonderful view from the top. It actually snowed briefly while I was at the top. There was a master totem carver working on a totem pole. He said it takes about 6 months to complete the one he was working on. You a stay as long as you want at the top.

The view up and down is excellent, giving a birds eye view of Juneau and the mountain. The area up top was good, with a nice gift shop and a fantastic short film on the Tlingit people. The only problem was that it is pricey, but if you can afford it I say go for it.

Totem history was awesome. Told stories of each totem and how it came to be! We learned about what type of trees and how the color pigments were made.

Our tour Guide, Michael was amazing. He gave us a group tour about the totems and the history. I would definitely do it again. Must see!!! Don't skip it you will regret if you do.

Enjoyed the tour with the staff members Norman and Greg! Definitely an interactive bunch! The tour is very informative and fun with stories and history to share!

Tour guide was great and we learned a lot. She explained everything in great detail about the totem poles and all of the plants that are growing along the trail. As we walked she held a conversation.

The guide did a great job and was very knowledgeable about Alaskan history! I loved the speed we walked at because sometimes the pace is too slow.

We too the Tram to the top for an overview of the town. It was a quick ride and the line moved fast. We shared a burger and had a local beer at the restaurant on the top. Worth the trip. You can hike trails if you wish but we did not. It’s a good thing to do at least once… you are there and it’s a bit pricey but worth the experience.

Very informative. I would highly recommend visiting the tram, watching the movie, having a beer, and taking the tour of the totems. Michael was great!

The views from the mountain were great! Michael provided an excellent tour. He was very knowledgeable and passionate.

Great views and a nice hike to Father Brown’s Cross. Make sure you come early to avoid the crowds from the cruise ships. On wet days the trails might be muddy and slippery. The ticket prices is quite high (55 USD) but it is da day ticket, come back for the sunset.

Pre booked this with our cruise line. That alone was a plus. Saved a few dollars and a bit of time. Went straight from the ship to the tram. Heard that others in our group went other places, then to the tram and had to wait in long lines.
For the fee, this was a remarkable option to seeing everything. Originally I had not planned on going on the tram, but my cabin mate talked me into it. I am so happy I agreed. Even with my mobility issues, there was a lot for me to see and do at the top. Of course, I wasn't able to do any of the hiking or even visit one of the cabins at the top, but I definitely enjoyed everything else. What a VIEW!!

The Robert’s Tram and tour at the top was SUPER! My guide, Mike M, was kind, informative, and funny! I plan to return next year.

1. It's not a good idea to prebook tickets for the tram. If you arrive in Juneau on a clear and sunny day, it's definitely worth going up the tram; but if it's cloudy and overcast, you may want to do something else, and come back when the weather is better.
2. If you go in the morning, getting on the tram is fast and easy. There were four large cruise ship in port when we arrived, but the line at the tram wasn't long at all, although it may be crowded in the afternoons. We arrived at 9:30 am and only had to wait for the second tram going up.
3. When they take your ticket, be sure to ask for a trail map!! There are no trail signs up at the top.
4. Stand on the right of the tram for the best views going up.
5. At the top, there's an observation deck. Stop to admire the views, and the partially finished totem pole.
6. Take the hiking trail that starts next to the tram terminus. This is a very short loop with some totem poles, and the stops are numbered, but the numbers don't correspond with what's on the trail map for some reason (try not to worry about this). If you go counterclockwise, you'll pass the Ale House, a small building that has a helpful map of the trails on Mt. Roberts.
7. Continuing counterclockwise, you'll eventually see the Alpine Loop Trail on your right. This is a very easy 0.5-mile loop, but again, there's no trail sign so it's easy to miss. Turn right and take the loop counterclockwise.
8. In a short amount of time, you'll reach two observation decks on the righthand side of Alpine Loop Trail. Stop to admire the fantastic views of Gastineau channel and your cruise ship below.
9. Continue hiking Alpine Loop Trail. This eventually connects to another trail on the right that heads further up the mountain; but again, there's no trail sign, so keep an eye out. If you turn right and head up this trail, in a very short amount of time you'll reach another observation deck on the left with fantastic mountain views, if it's clear. If you're feeling ambitious, continue hiking up past this deck to reach Father Brown's Cross, Gold Ridge, and/or Gastineau Peak.
10. Have fun hiking and enjoy the views!

Did not know what to expect from this tour but our tour guide, Stephanie, did a wonderful job. She was very knowledgeable about the local history, flora, and fauna. She put the beauty of Juneau in context for us.

The Goldbelt Tram provided me with a view of some beautiful scenery and a good view of our ship. I did enjoy the ride, but it was much shorter than I thought it would be. The Alaska Native Tour was the best part, in my opinion. A young man named Michael, who was a Native Alaskan, led us on an interesting walking tour. He showed us many totem poles and told us a little about his life, and shared some of his family's stories. It was very informative.

Michael and Samantha were super cool guides and i learned a lot !!! watching the movie and learning about totem poles really deepened my understanding of the Tlingit culture.

This was a really great experience! Chelly was our tour guide, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the trees and plants surrounding us. I actually have some interest in herbal remedies, and was fascinated by the healing properties of some of the plants. The views from here were stunning! Beautiful hiking trails that look like an enchanted forest.

This was a terrible experience
Marched on and squeezed in like sardines
So not able to see the view
There was nothing at the top only souvenir shops

This short ride is really expensive to go to the top of the hill to see the port and its amazing containers
Disappointing....

The views from the tram and from the shops and trails at the top were wonderful. We ate at the restaurant at the top and were not impressed. The shop was nice and the displays were good. I did really enjoy the show about the indigenous people. I thought that the price for the tram was prohibitive for for many.

Great visitor center, fun 15 minute video, nice trails with breathtaking views all around. Michael was super helpful and informative!

Greg is an amazing nature guide. He is very knowledgeable of the area, culture, and plants. He explained the totem poles, native uses of the various plants, and pointed out wildlife. I highly recommend him

Loved the experience!!! Great views from the Tram, and nice trails and views once we arrived to the top. Enjoyed an amazing lunch on the back deck!

Nice tour. Very educational about totems and native culture. They are testing tour interest and there seemed to be many people joining in. Hope they expand it and add more stories

Excellent tour, despite the rain. The tram felt very safe and was quick! Micheal was an excellent guide. He gave us a free tour.

Diverted to this port due to weather...had the whole city to our ship! Purchased tickets for the Goldbelt Tram...Extremely foggy, but a fabulous trip up the hill on the tram! Cute movie at the top of the hill. Good bar, decent prices and when the fog cleared - awesome views!

My family and I had a great time here!! We got a very personalized visit with Michael and Samantha 😊 I would recommend to anyone in the area!!

Very interesting. Could see the link with Maori culture of NZ. The totem stories were incredible. A fantastic walk. Our guide had great knowledge.

1st step off the main entrance was warmly greeted by young men William . He was attentive and professional very acknowledgeable with the area will sure to be back thx William !!

I went with my Boyfriend
End of April/Beginning of May.
We did the Gold Tram only and did the outer loop of the trail ( too foggy and too wet for the longer trail) but still as gorgeous.

what we thought was just a tram
ride up and down a mountain turned out to be an incredible hike up the snow capped mountain trails,. Totally not prepared in our sneakers but managed to carefully reach the top and so happy we did, breathtaking views so worth it!

got a chance to visit the mountain house and meet the most wonderful young man named Michael he was phenomenal and shared so much about his culture with us. As other natives it was a wonderful time getting to know another people's ways of being on this planet thank you so much Michael you were great!

Our helicopter tour got cancelled for weather so we though we would explore. A bit expensive (like all things Alaska).
Great views and some cool trails on the mountain.

Ever though it was misty and drizzled the day when my family took the tram .to the top of the mountain. the ride was very worth it. The movie in theater is great and rare in terms of an eye -open history . In addition , our short trail hiking gilded by Michael was educational. Michael is knowledgeable to tell the totems stories well . which has very much enriched our time on top of the mountain .

Johnny was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and kept it interesting. Knew the good spots for photos and to take a short break along the route. Also showed up the berries that were good to eat.

Great Guide. He was very helpful and was the best tour I have had. We need more tour guides like him. He is the best………………..

Great experience! Talked about history and plants and totem poles. Very interesting and informative! Would recommend to anyone who wants to have the Alaska experience!

The views were incredible and Michael did a great job showing us all the perfect photo spots! This is not too scary of a climb but can get slippery.

Michael did a great job showing us around the totem poles and giving us personal stories to go along with the information beneath each totem pole. It was fun to speak to someone native to this region with long-term family ties and story and folklore to tell! If you have an hour, I recommend it.

Great trip! It was rainy in Juneau but once we got to the top of the tram, we were able to hike around and see some of the terrain.

Great experience. I would definitely recommend this to all. The views are great and the picture opportunities are endless.

Stephanie was EXTREMELY knowledgable about the culture of the Tlingit people. She made the tour fun and informative. The views from the viewing platforms were outstanding. Going to the front of the line to ride The Goldbelt Tram was a great bonus. We enjoyed an ale at the top after exploring the lovely trails with great stories related to each totem pole. Gunalcheesh! (Thank You!)

Stephanie lead us up the mountain for about an hour and was extremely knowledgeable. She always had great info and answered all of our questions.

Magnificent tour guide, absolutely astounding service, kind and sincere tour. Highly recommend the to every tourist. Michael McKinley is a fabulous guide.

What a great experience. Really knowledgeable and cool to learn new b things. The weather was iffy but cleared for awesome view and trail walk.

Our guide was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and personable! The trail was beautiful and the totem poles were incredible.

Nicholas was a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide, born and raised in Alaska and part of the indigenous Tlingit people. If you are looking for a rich cultural experience and supporting local business, his tour is excellent!

Awful, the service was horrible, and the hours are totally ridiculous. We came two hours early because of the hours not being clear, and when we got there they would not let are me and my kids (7 and 10) wait inside.

We happened to find this booth and they were offering walking tours through the mountain! Michael took us through the trail and told the history and stories about the totem poles! Very interesting and full of culture!

Greg (not his native name), a tribal chief, walked the trails with us at the top of Robert’s Tram. He stopped along the way and taught us so much about the nature and the Alaskan people. This was an amazing experience.

The info was good but the stories need more continuity in the flow of telling. The history of what the totem means would be helpful at the beginning of the tour.

We learned a lot about the totem poles and native clans of the area. Michael was a great guide! He is a part of one of the clans himself and is currently carving a totem with his uncle.

Takes but a few minutes to ascend the mountain. Provides excellent views and photography. Can be rainy and foggy. Nice movie at the visitor and their and trials to hike. If you have the time and do it want to spend the money for the tram there is a trail which ascends to the summit as well. Allow several hours to hike. Yes the tram is pricey. For us as one time visitors it was worth it.

Stephanie was awesome. Very knowledge and friendly! She was able to share about the culture and the history. She also shared some interesting bit of information about foliage and wildlife

Stephanie is an awesome guide, so knowledgeable and personable! Highly recommend this guided hike! Bring a water and you should be able to hike at altitude, breathtaking views and you are immersed in nature!

Seeing the glacier and Nugget falls was wonderful although we were supposed to have 1.5 hours to see everything but we ended up with under an hour. Bus had to wait to park and traffic had slowed us down.
Time was too short to hike to Nugget Falls but did take a walk on Steep Creek Trail and saw the salmon running. The Tram ride was not the best. 25 minutes waiting in line to get on. Everyone was crammed in there and if you were in the middle it was harder to see. Not much to do at the top unless you like to hike. Took a small hike up another hill and had some wonderful views. The line to go back down on the tram was also very long. Alot of people got to the top and then got back in line to go back down. over 50 minutes in line took up most of your time. If you have any issues with balance or walking I would not suggest doing any hiking at the top of the tram ride.

Damen is a fantastic tour guide and storyteller. His native Alaskan heritage provided so much insight into the meaning of all the clan totems. Very worthwhile tour!

Moderately nice views on the ride and on top---but it is small and not worth more than 45 minutes on top. The main issue is that the $55 ticket is massively overpriced and makes this feel like a tourist trap. Would pay no more than $20 for this. As others have noted, if you are looking for a pre cruise excursion, would be much better to take an Uber or Lyft to the Mendenhall Glacier

I enjoyed the history of the totem polls and I really liked the songs. I'd like to learn more about the difference between the raven and the eagle clan and what each one of them mean on the totem Pole.

Stephanie was very knowledgeable. She was able to give many details about the area of Alaska in general as well as the things were were seeing on our tour.

Michael did a wonderful job we did have a good visit he was a very good storyteller, thank. Would highly recommend to all my friends

It was excellent, lots of information about the totems, and Michael was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. We had a beautiful day, the sun was out, cold, but well worth the experience. Highly recommend, and two thumbs up. 👍👍

Missed out on a trip to the glacier and had an afternoon driving tour around Juneau so we spent the morning on this ride and touring the mountain. We went on our own - didn't go on one of the tours noted that includes this gondola ride. Bought our tickets without waiting - all very fast. Expensive - but most of the Alaska tours are. The views from the "tram" give you a wide view of the Juneau cruise area. Coming from the "city" this is all beautiful and enjoyable to take in. At the top we took a walk along a few paths - footing isnt great; so if you have mobility issues, be warned. Also at the top you will find a souvenir store and a restaurant. Had no issues when we wanted to return - only a brief wait

Stephanie was great! The hike was very informative. Not hard to do at all for adults or children. The views are amazing !!

Great time! Enjoyed a short film about the history of the natives. An employee named Michael was extremely polite and informative. He gave us a tour of the area explaining the meaning of the totems and sub clans.

Michael was incredibly informative and kind. We had no idea of the culture! It was an education! Everyone in our family of nine – from the teenagers to the grandparents loved learning from Michael!

Michael gave us a walking tour and we learned a lot about Tinglit culture and history. The walk is short and easy and featured different totems. Very interesting and informative, would recommend.

After reading other reviews prior to our trip, I decided to not book the tram until we got there. If it is cloudy, don't waste your time or money. We fortunately had blue skies. We got there about 5:30. We had no wait to go up. The views were great and you were free to walk around at the top. There was a small gift shop and restaurant at the top, but we didn't eat there. We sat outside the restaurant and enjoyed the views. It appeared that it took awhile to get food for several customers. We watched the movie, which was included in your ticket. It was ok. At one point, the wait to go down was 45 minutes, so watch the line if you are under a timeline to board your ship. We stayed up there about an hour and our wait to go down was about 10 minutes.
Tram not worth the $55 they charge. Ride up to gift shop and back down. Way way overated. Wouln not recommend. Save your money and go whale watching.
