Wonderful surprise - height of color every where I looked. Nice hike to the falls - easy getting there and going down several stairs - another thing walking back out. Several trail options and a hike to a lake (I didn’t go there).

We stopped here on our way back from the Split Rock Lighthouse. I am glad we did! It was nice to walk down along the falls and enjoy the peacefulness of the area. Very nice little hike. Would recommend if you can handle some stairs.

Highly suggest being there at 8am on a weekday. We had the middle falls literally to ourselves which was amazing! We didn't do any real "hiking" but enjoyed walking the trails around the falls. The paths are wooden with railings so no room to push too far over to distance from traffic so really liked avoiding crowds. Buildings had bathrooms open but no access to maps to carry around.

This was my second favorite Minnesota State Park but it was amazing. I visited the Minnesota North Shore as an add on afterthought to my trip to see Voyageurs NP and Isle Royale NP. While both National Parks were great, the highlight of the trip was a handful of Minnesota State Parks on the Lake Superior North Shore that were incredible, and Gooseberry is at the top of that list.
In many places, Gooseberry is ranked number one with Tettegouche number 2, but it is splitting hairs. While I felt Tettegouche was slightly better, I will simply say that both Fifth Falls and Gitchi Gummi are two of the best hikes to do.
I started with Gitchi Gummi which is a 2.2 mile hike with 282 vertical feet that takes you from the falls to the lakeshore. While on the lake, you are elevated about 150' above it with great views of the river mouth.
As good as this hike is, Fifth Falls at 3.0 miles and 300 vertical feet is the highlight, especially the waterfalls. The combination of 3 different falls makes this one of the best places on the North Shore, see the pictures. This is why it is the top or second park in Minnesota and Fifth Falls is the #1 hike in the state of Minnesota.
Again, the Minnesota North Shore was the highlight of my trip that included 2 national parks, and this park was a big part of that ranking. This is MUST SEE if you are in the area.

Gooseberry Falls are fantastic!! There is an easy pathway to the falls that includes stairs, but they also have a nice winding path that is great for those with disabilities or mobility issues. The falls themselves are beautiful and the park is set up so that you can climb on rocks for a better view and walk right up to the falls. This was probably my favorite falls in Minnesota when I visited in May.

The falls are great but hiking to the lake or inland takes you on the road less traveled. This is one of my favorite state parks in MN. It is beautiful in every season.

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon exploring Gooseberry Falls. The area is huge, so it was easy to stay away from crowds. It is easily accessible for those who aren’t adventurous, like me; but also strenuous with rocks to climb for those who do enjoy adventure.

One of many state parks along Hwy 61 going north towards Canada and all are so well kept and beautiful

Always a beautiful place to see the falls and hike. Always very busy, so if you can even get there during the late winter it's still beautiful and not as busy. Don't forget to keep going up the shore to other state parks that will be less crowded.

We love Gooseberry Falls as a stop on our annual camping trip to Grand Marais. This year it was so busy that the parking attendant literally ordered us to pay $7 for parking. She was rude and not helpful and failed to tell us it would be a mile hike to the falls. The falls are absolutely beautiful and kids enjoyed playing and swimming in them. We never made it to the visitors center because of where we forced to park with our trailer.

We had a great time hiking with our 6 year old. Only problem would be that the lower bridge was closed so we had to hike on a detour. Would have chosen a different path if known prior however it was still fun.

Love this park! We try to go at least once a year. During the summer kids play in the water & swim. During winter/falls, park is still beautiful. Not too overexerting. Stairs gradual. Able to bring dogs if you wish. Great views. Great place to take pictures of scenery or of your family.

My husband and I stopped here on a whim and we are so glad we did. The falls are an easy walk on a paved path with handrails by the steps. The Falls were very pretty!

Be aware that if you do all of the circuits available, it's a good four miles with quite a few stairs. But there are STAIRS. It's not rough going, just a good cardiac workout. An absolutely beautiful walk through the woods along the river and falls.

The main falls have a well-paved accessible path for a beautiful view! You can venture out on the rocks for some lower waterfalls and there are further trails as well. I went in the morning around 10a and there were tons of families already there. Not as many mosquitoes here as other places, but I did still get a couple bites.
I also liked the informational displays at the visitor center - learned about Minnesota's wild cats, the state bird the loon, and how this area was geologically formed.

This is a must stop for those that love waterfalls! If one can climb stairs, visitors can view the top of the Falls. The middle and lower part of the Falls do have a handicap ramp as well as stairs. Be sure to stop by the visitor's center to get a map,see informative displays, or get a momento in the gift shop. Restrooms are clean. This is a family friendly site. Not sure if food is sold there but noticed several families with their own packed picnic lunches. Don't forget the camera, there are plenty of opportunities to take breathtaking photos.

What a fantastic park with great trails around the waterfalls. Best part is that the visitor center is part of the wayside so you can park for free for two hours and hike without a state park pass which was great for people that are just passing thru. We decided to buy a park day pass and drove down to where the river flows into Lake Superior.

We have been to Gooseberry Falls a good handful of times but never in the winter. It was incredible! We had a beautiful 42 degree day with lots of sun to go on a little hike/walk! Paths were generally clear with a few snowy/icy spots.

Love the north shore. All this park is lacking is a campground with electricity. Great hiking. Incredible photo opportunities!

Short vacation in Two Harbors which always includes a trip to Gooseberry Falls. If you are in the area or even traveling through, Gooseberry Falls is a must see with its beautiful waterfalls and river. We love hiking to see all the waterfalls and they are beautiful whatever time of the year you go to visit.

The falls were Beautiful!!! The trails were easy to walk on. Download the Gooseberry Falls Go app, it will guide you!

Visited the state park and enjoyed the views and the walk. The trails are well marked constructed. Beautiful waterfalls.

One of our first stops up to the north shore and one of our favorites the entire trip. Easy access to parking and short and easy walks to the main waterfalls. No cost to park or enter, and even the gift shop seemed reasonable. Kids enjoyed this 'no fuss hiking' stop.

Hiked Fifth falls trail which was quiet and less travelled. Nice hike. Could have used more signage so we did not feel confused at times. Incredible CCC structures along the hike.
Also hiked the trail to the upper and middle falls. Nice hike, but much busier. Easy for families and well marked.

I enjoyed this trip. I'm a senior citizon so walking is not real easy. there are three levels so give yourself plenty of time. the very top one was the prettiest, might be the longest to get to but was the easiest. Middle ok. The lower I didn't care for as lot of steps and uneven ground.

Nice walk to the falls, And paths to the lake.Definitely worth a visit several hiking trails around the area nice visitor center with all the local display.

My husband and I enjoyed spending the afternoon hiking around many of the trails. So many little areas to veer off and check out the rocks, water, rapids, falls. My husband brought his big camera with and enjoyed taking pictures of many areas. Tons of people by the big falls so unable to get any pictures there, but ended up with some neat pictures with the other falls and bridges.

Beautiful waterfalls that are easy to access with short walks from visitor center. Minnesota does such a wonder ful job with their state parks.

Very crowded on a Saturday but big parking areas. A small hike down to the falls is worth it, just so beautiful, the water, the trees. A wonderful place to hike & visit with friends

Light to moderate hiking options. The walk to the falls is easy. Beautiful upper, middle, and lower falls. Great nature views. You are able to walk out on the rocks and falls themselves. If you're bringing kids, keep them close. It can be dangerous.
It's a must see in the area.

We had an amazing time seeing the waterfall in December. Bundling up with all the winter gear made it an enjoyable experience. We took our friends who were visiting internationally and this trip is their first experience with snow. They were brave as they endeavored to navigate the icy steps down to the waterfall. Once there, it was SO amazing to stand on the snow/ice knowing there was normally water flowing under it. Part of the waterfall was flowing and it is just so fun to see it! I highly recommend this if you are able bodied. Our kids are 8-11 years old so it was fine for them. Young kids/toddlers would have made me nervous.

My wife and I had a great visit here.It was early and cool so it wasn't busy at all. These waterfalls are incredible to watch. We had plenty of parking and just a short walk to the falls. The visitors center was closed but really we just wanted to see the falls. We recommend.

My husband and I visited Gooseberry Falls with our dog for our wedding anniversary. We were very pleased with the trails, how dog friendly it is and the amazing views.

This lovely park offers a few beautiful walks, including a very easy paved one to the falls. Other hikes go underneath Hwy 61 and follow the river upstream. The Fifth Falls Loop is a very nice easy walk; note that there are some tree roots in the unpaved trail and some stairs. Stop in the visitor center for information on the trails as there is some construction in the area. There is a small souvenir shop in the visitor center, with a few snack items and ice cream.

We enjoyed our time walking the trails and being able to see the falls and walk out the Lake Superior.

The first time (2 years ago) was fantastic. Thought it might be a bit of a let down this time, but no. Even better. Water was higher and the foliage was even greener. It is a bit of a climb from the lower falls to the upper so bring a walking stick if you think you might need it. Worth every minute

I would likely rate this higher if I wasn't sick with a cold and able to take advantage of hiking trails. This is a beautiful area between the falls, forest, wild flowers and birds. The weather was an amazing 70 degrees.

Goosberry Falls never ceases to be an incredible stop along the North Shore! Even on crazy busy days, it is worth the stop.
The interpretative center is gorgeous. Interesting displays. Nice restrooms. Great station for refilling your water bottle. And a cool place to sit when you need it.
Right now the water is low, so you can explore quite a bit of the falls rocks. It’s a fun climb, but be very sure of your footing. And watch your kiddos closely. Swimming is not recommended, but people go in towards the lower spots. Again, be smart.
The trails are well marked, paved, have hand rails, and all of that. Even a person who does not have a ton of mobility can get down to see the falls.
Make this a stop every single time you drive up the shore!

We visited here on 6/2/22 and hiked to the middle and upper falls. The hikes were easy (lots of steps though) about 1.25 mi. RT and the falls were awesome. The park was fairly busy when we were there. A great stop when heading up the North Shore

I have been coming here since I was a child. The falls are an impressive display of nature and beauty. The hikes are so enjoyable as you enjoy all that nature has to offer. There are picnic areas, hiking trails, rivers, beaches, camping and even a Stone Building Rental you can have private small group functions in. The gift shop has everything you need and more.

We traveled the North Shore Oct 10 week, the fall colors were peak:) There are mostly pine & birch trees, so the colors are mostly yellows/golds and of course pine tree green but beautiful no less:) Gooseberry is a must stop for anyone traveling north of Two Harbors (only a few miles). The welcome center is beautiful, very helpful. There is a paved walk way to the lower falls, most everyone should be able to do this scenic walk. Once you hear the waves from the waterfalls, you'll want to continue. If you are a little more adventurous, continue on the nicely marked trails to Fifth Falls. Steps & beautiful bridges---soooo many photo opts. You'll want tennis shoes or hiking shoes/boots as the paved trail does go away to a nice path but does have rocks/roots (muddy when wet) that might be tough to navigate with regular shoes or sandals. Some steps, but I do think most could make the trek. Take your time, enjoy the journey. If you have small kids, keep them close as there are not guard rails to keep them from the edges. You will be following the river (so you are never deep in the woods) & it is well worth the trip when you make the loop around Fifth Falls & back towards the welcome center. There was no fee for this park

We came to Duluth for the Festival of Sails and made the trip to Gooseberry Falls as a back up plan when the festival let us down. Thank God for this park....it was stunning. We were bummed we didn't go up there earlier in the day and pack a lunch. Honestly, we loved that not everything was completely roped off. People were respectful of the space and it really allows you to feel one with nature that way. The root systems of all the trees were amazing to see. I took so many photos of the trees. But the falls were outstanding as well. My husband was glad we came -- he is a woods and river character and I'm a lake girl. So it was the best of both worlds on this trip!

Nice park and Nice falls. We walked around and it was a really cool area where you can get up close to the falls.

Great scenic place to stop and view the falls. Great place for a hike. Would be a great place for a picnic lunch.

Went twice - first time early afternoon and it was crowded but came back early morning and it wasn't. The falls are beautiful and the area to walk around them is as safe as safe can be in rock and water. This was definitely worth a trip

First, off, Minnesota has done a great job with their state park visitor centers. This one is quite nice. Beyond the Center we walk on a nice trail to an overlook. Really nice falls and a pretty bridge over the river on which to get a better view. There are lots of people. A bunch near the falls.
We walked up the path a bit and got to see a rock wall called the “Castle in the Park”. It’s a 300 foot long retaining wall built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) who did a lot of work in this and a number of Minnesota State Parks. Pretty impressive wall (and parking area above). Not many people here. An impressive reminder of all the CCC did for us all.

This falls at Gooseberry Falls was so beautiful, I have never seen more water than the fall if 2019! We try to camp here each fall for the fall colors and we always spent a day hiking around the falls area, love this tradition! We have been doing it for over 30 years now!

Beautiful, but be prepared to walk. The trails are paved or steps, but the falls are in three levels - but totally worth it even if you only feel like taking the easiest walk to the upper falls.

Not too far northeast of Two Harbors lies this gem of a park. I mainly came here to see the falls and they were quite impressive due to heavy rains the weeks up to my visit. The trails are well marked and are well kept up. You can even see Lake Superior in the distance from the falls. The visitors center is quite big and has a decent sized gift shop with merchandise and all your hiking needs. You can easily spend multiple days here!!

Visited Gooseberry Falls SP on a cool and rainy late September day. What a gorgeous park and we were fortunate that the falls were roaring due to all the rain. So glad we stopped to visit.

Drove up from Duluth and hiked the Fifth Falls and Superior Hiking Trail Loop. It was beautiful! So worth the trip up! Highly recommend!

An easy stop along the North Shore. It's free and family-friendly (but keep close tabs on your kids). You can stop here quickly to enjoy the views or stay and explore for a longer adventure... Either way, it's a worthy stop!

This place and the views are hard to compete with. Anytime my wife and I are in the area we stop at the falls. We have been there so many times to see them and do some hiking it would be impossible to give anyone a number. Camping is for campers less than 30 feet long and electricity is available but not sewer connections. You would have to haul your waste to a dump site on the property. lake Superior is below the camp ground and there is different places to get down to the water. There isnt much of a beach but you can definity find a place to sit in the cold water during the summer months. The evening temps are cool with lake breezes and the summer months are warm during the day, but not real hot.

We visited the park during the 2020 memorial day weekend. The hiking trails are easy and beautiful. The falls are fantastic. We biked from Gooseberry falls to the split rock park. It is an easy 8 miles biking trail with views to lake superior.

Many waterfalls, great spots for photos and so many places to hike and explore. Kids were playing in the water, people having picnics and lots of people hiking and riding bikes.

This park is BEAUTIFUL and highly recommended. But we weren’t expecting it to be so BUSY! We purposely visited mid-week, after peak fall color to avoid crowds but that didn’t work at all. After coming to the park about 3pm on a Wednesday and finding NO PARKING at the wayside parking lot, we chose to come back the next morning about 9am. By the time we left about 11:30am, the parking lots were packed again. And the weather was cold and dreary! Crazy!
Regardless, we hiked the Falls View Loop and a little bit of the Superior Hiking Trail upstream of Upper Falls. The falls are spectacular and the “castle” was pretty cool too!

We enjoyed the park even though the falls were not as full as they would have been back in May or June. We saw beautiful views and hiked down to the water's edge to build rock sculptures.

This review is strictly rating the lower waterfalls. We went on a Saturday so it's expected to be at it's busiest. Unfortunately the people visiting had no consideration for others and failed to be safety smart.
The waterfalls were beautiful but not worth a special trip if staying more than 20 minutes away.

Our family really enjoyed the close hiking trails and climbing around on the rocks. It offered great views.

My friend is from Minnesota and I always wanted to go to Gooseberry Falls. Such a great name. The park did not disappoint. It was an easy walk to the upper falls and the views were spectacular. For the individuals in better shape than me, there was also a trail form to two more falls. The leaves were beautiful even on a cloudy day

We enjoyed hiking around (both sides) of the lower, middle and upper falls. In the spring the falls are roaring and rushing, so no one is wading into the water. Nice that we could get very close to the water without having railings everywhere. There is nice stonework from the CCC era in the 1930s, when the park was established, in the retaining wall and sandwich shop/old visitor's center (which is currently closed). The new visitor's center, where there is free parking for 2 hours, is nice.

One of our targeted stops to see frozen water falls was Gooseberry. It was magnificent. We were fortunate to have clear blue sky abs full sun which lit up the ice sculptures. It’s best to get there about Noon for the best sun.

First of all, for families it has one of the most important things; it's free! The falls are beautiful and consistently run all year round although better in the spring or after rain when the water is rushing. Brought my 2 year old granddaughter here and even she stopped and looked at it for a few moments which, of course, at that age is unusual to focus on big things. Great place to take some family photos and just commune with nature. Don't let the crowded parking lot deter you; the people suddenly melt away in this big space. The visitor center is nice and there are restrooms and wildlife displays here.

Well maintained trails that lead to beautiful views. On summer evenings it is a nice place to sit by the falls and gaze out at Lake Superior.

Picturesque state park in Northeastern Minnesota with waterfalls, easy hiking and a fun gift shoppe with neat local goods. Fall is definitely the time to visit out of the way gem. As mentioned in other reviews, the park can get quite crowded. I entered in the early afternoon and had to search for parking. While there were people everywhere I went, they didn't detract from the national beauty of the place. I'll happily return next time I'm in this neck of the woods.

Another wonderful visit to gooseberry. The hike to upper and lower falls is low to moderate difficulty. Paths are wonderfully maintained!

Great views with easy trail access. Beautiful views and great for children and older folks. You can find trails to meet whatever level u want….an easy stroll that leads to a wading pool or go for miles. The park is well kept and marked.

It's an easy walk to all 4 levels for the waterfalls. It's beautiful and you can get your feet wet. It's a lovely walk that is wheel chair accessible for most of it.

We went hiking at Gooseberry Falls State Park on Oct 7, 2019. The trails offer nice nieces of the river and rock formations. We went after a couple rainy days so the trail had muddy spots and the river was moving fast. A couple standing water spots so had to change our route. Trails have many elevation changes. This is a popular state park so it can get very crowded. Go early or off season for best photo ops.

Good outdoor visit, pretty waterfalls, it’s pretty crowded but definitely fun. Glad we could visit this place!

We visited this park while staying in the Two Harbors area and loved every moment of our time here. The hiking was fairly easy (at least the paths we took), and the falls were beautiful.

These Falls are easy to get to and are beautiful to see!! There is a ramp all the way to the falls where wheelchair visitors can also see the falls. Absolutely beautiful

We are "waterfall chasers" and have been all over the Midwest and have seen dozens of nice waterfalls. The falls at Gooseberry Falls Park are among the best we've seen, especially when you get to the spot where you can experience three of them at once. Beautiful sight.

As we were driving back to Minneapolis we decided to stop and stretch our legs and glad we did. Gooseberry Falls has excellent trails to walk and some beautiful natural scenery, along with a friendly and informative range station who educated us on the wildlife in the area, gooseberries and water coloration..
A great place for the entire family to enjoy!

This is a beautiful stop along the very scenic north shore. The main negative for this place was the people. First, it took a long time for us to find parking. We circled for close to a half an hour. We went during the middle of the week so we didn’t think it would be so busy. Additionally, a lot of the nature aspect is lost because there’s just so many people. It is really pretty and worth a stop, just be prepared for the crowds.

Great area to spend half day or so. Unfortunately the visitor’s center/gift shop was not open except for bathrooms but the falls are there in all their glory. Level paths for us mobility impaired as well as more difficult & rugged trails for the able bodied. Everything well maintained with benches placed at extraordinary views.

Great waterfalls in this park but very busy in the summer since you can easily get into the water to wade around and cool off. Tricky to get pictures that don't have a bunch of strangers in them. The hike to the fifth falls is worth your time and much less busy than the middle and lower falls.

Beautiful day trip and lots of hiking trails. Stunning fall colors were just beginning. Very little parking was available by the information center. Be sure to plan ahead and buy a parking passing online and print prior to arriving to save time standing in lines.

Quick visit to Gooseberry falls over the weekend. Being late summer, the falls are low but still flowing.
Trails are well marked and there are a variety of trails for the fit and those aspiring to get into better shape. Parking can be a bit tight on weekends, but there is a constant flow of arrivals and departures.

you should go there in the spring when the snow and ice is still melting the ice floats down the river and the snow is like boats floating down the water

We have visited Gooseberry Falls State Park in all seasons, it is always beautiful. We hike 1 mile along the left side of Gooseberry River to the suspended bridge over the Fifth Falls then 1 mile along the left side of the river. In the early spring you can enjoy the falls in their raging glory; during summer and autumn the falls are surrounded by a variety of trees in full regalia; and during the winter months you can observe the frozen falls surrounded by trees blanketed in snow.

My wife and I took a little vacation up to the North Shore and we stopped by Gooseberry Falls. I have been here in the past and enjoyed it. We stopped by and this time the falls were really moving. It's always a beautiful and spectacular stop along the way.

We took the hike to Gooseberry Falls with 2 children ages 9 and 11. It was a long walk for Grandma but the kids enjoyed walking the trail and seeing the group of waterfalls. Beautiful country

I have visited this state park several times but I have never seen it as busy as my last visit. I went on a Thursday and it was packed! I never remembered it being that big of a tourist trap. The waterfalls are cool but there are better waterfalls on the north shore to go to with less people. I would not return unless I knew it wouldn’t be so crowded.

I spent a good part of my childhood in the Arrowhead of MN. Folks would stop here often.
The park looks different every season, and I’ve missed that.

We had a wonderful quick visit here. We went when there was still a little ice but some of the falls were flowing. The kids loved running around here and exploring. We just made a quick stop and took about 40 minutes here. The falls are about a 10 min walk away from the parking lot.

This is a must stop on the North Shore of Superior. We (Minnesota and really the entire upper Midwest) have been in a drought, so my photos do not do this attraction justice. Like most falls these are more spectacular in the spring with snow melt run off and after larger rains during the summer and fall. The winter provides beautiful frozen formations, but the walk out to the falls can be treacherous. There are three sets of falls here, and you can get right out into them depending on the flow of the river.

We went in the late afternoon just to see the falls. There is a very nice visitor center, gift shop and the middle falls is a short walk. You can also go down to the lower falls (which we did) or hike to the upper falls (which we didn't). The lower falls was pretty much a trickle because of the drought, but it was interesting to walk around on rocks that are usually covered with water. This is a very pretty spot. We spent about 45 minutes, but you could probably spend much more time if you did more hiking.

We got here first thing in the morning and were glad we did because it was pretty busy by the time we left. Took several short hikes to see the falls. Magnificent! We also enjoyed the visitors center, although there wasn't a ton to see there. Would definitely return again. Cool experience!

We visited the Lower, Middle, Upper Falls... and the Fifth falls after the 0.6 mi hike from the upper area.
The falls are nice but due to the apparent lower water levels, not really impressive at all and certainly low in volumes.
The hiking paths were fine but need to be watchful because a lot of folks take their dogs along and there's quite a bit of dog poop along the way... amazing the number of disrespectful dog owners.

Visitor center staff was not helpful or friendly.
The falls were great and enjoyed the park
Able to walk around without too many people

Quick stop to see the falls. Short walk led to some beautiful views of the creek and several falls. Well worth the stop.

We spent a few hours enjoying the well maintained trails and walking along the beach. So pretty (and all free). Love how every time we visit it looks different.

I never pass up an opportunity to visit Gooseberry when I'm in the area. Lots of great paths to hike through the woods near and around the falls too. Simply beautiful!

There a number of falls along the north shore drive, and the Gooseberry Falls and Park are one of the more popular since they are quite accessible from the parking area. The falls are in three parts and the upper and middle ones are a very short and relatively flat walk from the visitor center. The lower falls are somewhat harder to see due to angle of the river, and do require some elevation change.

Gooseberry is always a must see when visiting the North Shore. You can spend a nice half day here hiking all of the well marked trails, or just come to see the closest waterfalls. They are only about a 5 minute walk from the visitors center and the trails is paved and has railings most of the way. Very easy and accessible. This is one of the most popular parks in the area, so it gets crowded in the summer. Visit in the winter to see the frozen waterfalls- that is a special sight. In the spring after the thaw they water is gushing. Great place for kids, plenty of parking, clean facilities, and a nice gift shop.

Beautiful location. Saw a bald eagle overlooking the falls. Do not miss the bridge which you can reach by a path.

Great hike! Well maintained paths, good signage. The viator's center has very clean bathrooms and educational opportunities. The falls were great and make for good photos. My children enjoyed stopping and playing near the waters edge along the trail.

We only took the hike around the 4 falls and skipped the last one but it was a fairly easy trek all the way around and the falls were worth it especially since it was free

Came here with my dad in mid October, but we were still able to enjoy the Falls and see the beautiful autumn colors. This was recommended by a coworker of mine (who coincidentally also came with a few others as well).
The waterfall is absolutely breathtaking at every angle and the views from the bridges are just as amazing. I really enjoyed seeing the Fall colors in this very spot. I definitely recommend this place, especially when the weather is dry, and sunny (which sun always makes views look better).

This park is one of Minnesota's favorites! A popular destination along the North Shore. Great hiking and camping. Visit the fun Welcome Center! Short walk to the nearest waterfalls.

We haven't stopped here in over 20 years, and the experience was just as wonderful. I do not know how Minnesota keeps up such great parks without charging guests to visit, but I am grateful.

This park has it all, beautiful fall color, the falls, great hiking, and gorgeous views. Such a treasure for Minnesota. Spend some time here and enjoy all it has to offer.

Beautiful waterfalls of the Gooseberry river north of Two Habors, MN. There are three sets of falls and relatively easy access. Very scenic. One of the must sees for all Minnesotans.

These Falls are a natural beauty. We walked down the trail to see these Falls from right where the water drops. We spent about 30 minutes at the Falls admiring the natural beauty which is lacking in many large Falls surrounded by commercial activity.
We saw the Falls when driving from Duluth to Thunder Bay. A truly scenic drive.
Munir D.

An incredibly beautiful area. Plenty of hiking trails and places for photography. If you stand still for a bit, you might have a bird land right above your head or a nosy squirrel run right by you.

This state park was wonderful from start to finish. They had an awesome visitor center after parking the car complete with a station to refill your water bottle, a gift shop, and educational area. It’s a short walk to the upper, middle, and lower falls from the visitor center. They have stairs for getting down to see the falls. We also took the Gitchi Gummi trail as Fifth Falls trail was closed for construction. Gitchi Gummi trail offered beautiful overlooks over Lake Superior and was an easy trail overall in terms of hiking trails but you do have to climb some hills to get up to the overlooks. We also enjoyed taking the trail out to the beach and dipped our toes into the cold lake water to cool off. We went on a Tuesday morning in late July and the park was fairly busy. When drove back past the park on Saturday morning it was packed.

Great place to stop and stretch your legs and take in some nature. Parking and entrance to falls is free but limited to two hours. No problem though walk to falls is easy well Maintained and accessible to all levels of walkers and hikers. Half mile at best to a great view. If you want to make it more you can easily do so. This trip we brought our bikes and and headed north on the bike trail out of the park that follows the main road. Ride north to start is very easy-going be careful how far you go because you will hit some steep hills on the way back. A short drive further north as a starting point is Less Hillier and may be an easier ride for those who do not do this routinely.

Easy 1 mile RT walk on a paved pathway to middle falls. Best and biggest fall there. I took the ramp
Down to get a better view of lower falls & up from there to upper. Wasn’t bad and I have bad knees with a replacement coming soon. Not much to see on the upper. It’s a good view but not necessary to see. There is a loop you can do with is m longer. Not sure about it as I didn’t do it. Lots of people there enjoying the falls & pooling areas. There was a fee to enter the park. I believe it was $11 as we were out of state.

While we staying in Duluth, we traveled up the North Shore to see the falls. We would highly recommend visiting. The falls are a short walk from the parking lot. It was very packed when we visited on a Saturday. We believe that it is recommended that you visit on a weekday if you don't like the crowds. Even though there was a warning about leeches in the water, there were many children swimming around. We didn't put our feet in the water, but just enjoyed the natural beauty instead!

The Falls are amazing. More crowded at the lower falls. If you hike the area though you get to see 5 different Falls. If you are in good health and up for a modest challenge (rocky and some inclines) go to the fifth falls- there is a beautiful pool to swim in and few people make the journey so its very peaceful. Certainly a top 10 park!

This place was busy even on a Thursday afternoon. Our hike at Tettegouche was much nicer and less crowded. If you only see one out of upper, Middle and lower Falls here, then make it the middle one as it let's you get close and was the most impressive. Upper Falls was the 2nd best. Lower Falls weren't very impressive in comparison.

Very pretty place, easy access to viewing areas. Can see falls from all sides. Nice visitor center and gift shop. To avoid large crowds arrive before 10:00am

Absolutely stunning. Beautiful hiking and falls! Little crowded but to be expected! Fairly easy walk but need to watch young children.

My wife and I hiked the trails at Gooseberry Falls State Park on a Thursday in early August. We found the park to have excellent trails and lots and lots of scenery. There were lots of people along the river banks and in the water, but the park did not seem crowded. Some of the trails are a wee bit steep, but this make for good exercise and great sights from high up. An entry fee is required, but it is a good investment in preserving such a wonderful place.

The falls are beautiful with good views all around. We took the extra time, and paid the park entrance fee, to continue to Agate Beach. Great beach and fun to explore the lake and nature.

It's the Strave Rock State Park of Minnesota because it's the most visited park in Minnesota and I liked the exhibits and but I wished I could see the film that they had at the park and but I could understand why I couldn't see it because of the pandemic. So I liked the waterfalls there and I think that they are very picturesque.

Waterfalls were flowing fast during visit. Got great pictures. Know that there are a significant amount of stairs if you want to see everything but you can get to the lower falls via wheelchair. The inside bathrooms were open despite the fact the visitor center was closed.

Definitely worth a stop. We were there on November and the falls were roaring and beautiful. Trails are easy to navigate

The Gooseberry Falls were gorgeous to look at; however, I counted 18 people in a small area without masks looking at the falls. We were walking to our car; therefore, we were exiting and could stay 6 ft away. Then again, when we were a little farther up I counted groups of 4-10 groups of people walking down to the Falls, totaling about 60 people, who were not wearing masks or social distancing. I witnessed maybe 12 people total wearing masks. This is a beautiful area; however, during a pandemic is it smart to not wear a mask and not social distance? You ask yourself.

Two hour free parking in the lot near the visitors center. Short hike to Upper, Middle and Lowers falls with nice pathways and steps. Can wander on to the rocks to get close up pictures. The Fifth Falls in the park offer a good hike, however once there not real great viewing areas. Well maintained by the park system.

Absolutely gorgeous! Lots of great exercise and memories made here. I was there with extended family (girls trip). I was able to get some pretty awesome pictures.

I was touring many parks , so I parked in the lot at this one and hiked a short ways to the rocky shoreline. Took some pics and spent some peaceful time there. Literally saw no one else....late September 2020. The lava flow rocks there were interesting and even though cloudy and cool, I enjoyed the view of the expansive water.
There are several long hiking trails from the parking lot, too.

We had a great visit to Gooseberry Falls! The weather was beautiful, and we really enjoyed the scenic walk and taking some amazing photos of the falls and surrounding nature.
It was very busy when we arrived — the parking lot was completely full, so be prepared for a bit of a wait or a walk, especially during peak times.
We also had some trouble downloading the app, which was a bit frustrating since we were hoping to use it for trail info and maps.
Still, the views made it all worth it! Definitely worth a stop if you’re driving along the North Shore.

The ranger was helpful to warn us of all steps, as we shared that I had back issues. The steps were not many and I had no trouble negotiating them or the walkways. There are several views of several falls, all lovely, easy to photograph. I enjoyed the trunks of trees twisted to get into the rocks of the falls, and the big stones at the top of the falls that could be walked on. We were there in the morning and did not find it crowded at all. I also was grateful for the information on the Civilian Conservation Corps, as I had a friend who served on the CCC.

Starting at the high falls and looping around is an easier walk. The hike does loop all the way around. I was impressed how close you could get to the falls. It was free and a pleasurable adventure.

We loved this place a year ago and were equally pleased on this trip! The Visitor Center is beautiful and well-arranged. Bathrooms are immaculate! The hikes are very doable and are accessible to any handicap equipment. The walks are definitely worth the small amount of time-the falls are lovely!

My husband uses a wheelchair and the path to the middle and lower falls were not accessible because of all the bumps in the trail.

We visited Gooseberry Falls with our dog while driving up the North Shore. It's just a short hike from the visitor center to the waterfall, which is actually made up of several drops. The water level wasn't too high when we visited so we were able to climb around the rocks in the river bed to view all the different sections of the waterfall. It's a lot of fun and great photo opportunities. We also hiked further up to Fifth Falls about a mile upstream. All of the waterfalls are really scenic with potholes and little caves in the rock. Awesome place and definitely worth a stop if passing through the area.

Lots of waterfalls. The iconic waterfalls (Middle and Lower Falls) are just a short walk from the visitor's center and you don't need a park pass to visit these.
As with most of the MN State Parks, there are some really cool CCC-built buildings and a bridge.
Most of the trails right around the Middle and Lower Falls are easy, but anything away from these are going to be hilly and steep in spots.
We did drive through the park and there's a nice beach right on the lake, where the river meets it, with some picnic spots.

Our family stopped for a quick afternoon hike and view of Gooseberry falls. Great way to stretch the legs and see some beautiful falls.

Stop and see the falls! It's an easy walk on paved trails to view the upper and lowe falls. A very nice visitors center with a nice gift shop. The park has many visitors , but didn't seem crowded on the 4th of July. It's definitely a gem in the Minnesota park system!

This is a wonderful park. Don't pass it by if you're in the area. The visitor center is definitely worth a stop. The falls are lovely. They were (from photos we saw) about about 2/3 flow when we were there. Getting to the falls involves some stair climbing, but it's not a difficult walk to the middle or lower falls. We did not go to the upper falls. One is pretty much allowed anywhere and we saw very young children standing in precarious spots near the falls. Most people seem to head for the falls, but on our second visit, we took a very uncrowded trail above the river with great views of the water and trees. At the end, the river meets Lake Superior and there are, again, great views.

We visited during the COVID-19 pandemic, and there was so many people that social distancing was non-existent. Aside from that, it was a beautiful waterfall with several levels and afforded you the ability to enjoy the water. There is a ramp as well as stairs to get down to the bottom, so even though it's a hike, you have some options to make it easier. There are no bathrooms/porta potties down by the falls, so be sure your kids took a potty break before descending! The shore of the falls are rocky and the boulders in the falls get slippery quick. If you want to wall across the falls themselves, be sure to wear appropriate footwear. The falls are about 45 minutes north of Duluth and there is an option to take a scenic route. You really could go either way, but if you want occasional views of the lake, take the scenic route! Be sure to visit the other parts of this park to enjoy the lake and some breathtaking views. There are several rocky beaches to search for agates at.

This is a must do stop in the North Shore. It's very popular so try to avoid weekends if you can. We visited on a Thursday and it was kinda busy but the cars were parked up to the highway on a Saturday. The loop around the falls is nice but it's steep. Wear good shoes but either put on water shoes or bring a towel to dry off because the kids will want to go into the water and splash. Pack a lunch and go to the lakefront further in the park. There are nice spots near the lake and some great views.

Brought my 10 year old grandson. We had an awesome time. He climbed all over. Be careful, rocks get slippery. Did the hike to the Lake. Wasn’t very difficult. I’m 50 overweight and have a torn meniscus and made it. Get there early. We arrived 9 and there was about 25 cars in the parking lot. Left around noon and parking was limited by then.

we spent three days along the north shore and visited several of the parks, and though gooseberry falls was really pretty, it was definitely a bit too crowded for our taste. and it was less of a hike and more of just getting out of the car to see the falls. we saw the middle and upper falls—maybe if we had gone a bit further to see fifth falls, i might have been more impressed. so though they are definitely pretty falls, i’d recommend tettegouche and temperance river if you have limited time.

We had never been to these falls but decided to make a stop. I had read information about being free if you only went to the visitor center and stopped at waysides. We didn't find any "waysides'" unless the reviewer was talking about the options for viewing from the trails. The trails from the visitors center are free, at least at this time.
There is some parking by the Visitor Center(closed except for bathrooms). There are different trails you can take: upper, middle, and lower. We took the middle which gave a view of the middle part of the falls as you would expect. Due to the amount of people (we went on a Monday and the fact that many were not wearing masks like we were) we decided to skip the lower falls section.
We saw a few plaques with the trails shown, but didn't see anything with distances. This might have helped us make a decision whether to venture to other parts of the falls trail for viewing. It is possible when things are open you get a map with this information on it. I did not find that online.
They are pretty falls that many were walking in at the bottom section.
I would suggest a stop, but perhaps plan your timing in the early morning or late afternoon to limit the number of people.

Visited Gooseberry Falls over the past weekend, and was amazed as to how many people they allow on the property. There were children running everywhere and too many people all over the place. Beautiful place, but they need to monitor the people that are allowed at a time at the falls. If you want to see this beautiful falls, visit on a week day.

We stoped here for a visit when I reunited with my two children that I gave up for adoption. It was lovely. Absolutely beautiful. Lots a fun and made great pics to add to out Memories. The gift shop was very nice we picked up a few trinkets and some hoodies. Thanks

Great trip! We arrived at approximately 12 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the trail. The trail was separated into two different parts- the upper falls and then the middle and lower falls. We opted to do the middle and lower falls first, and were greeted with a spectacular bounding waterfall, cascading over a series of rocks. There were multiple places to take great pictures, and to climb up on the rocks for a better view. There was also a bridge that overlooked the waterfall and provided access to the fifth falls. After viewing the middle and lower falls, we opted to hike up to the fifth falls. The fifth falls trail took us through a forest with views of the stream on one side. The fifth falls were not as big as the other waterfalls, but it was still a great hike regardless. We made the loop back down towards the entrance and stopped at the high falls, where we were able to take in the views. We then made our way to the wall, where we climbed up the steps and were met with several informational plaques that detailed the origins of the park and the men who built it. We briefly stopped at the visitor center, where there were clean restrooms. The gift shop and exhibits were closed at the time we visited, unfortunately.
Tip: I recommend spending 3 hours here if you truly want to see everything.

We pre-purchased a state park pass as it is a state park, only to find that to visit the falls it is not needed. There is a wonderful visitors center. The main paths are paved and accessible and that was welcomed to view the upper, middle and lower falls. The parking lot can be limited during busy times, so be aware. We enjoyed our visit.

This is one of the most lovely parks on the North Shore! If you could only make one stop this is the one you should make. The hike out to the falls is short and easy and spectacular. There’s not much to be done about all the people that visit and create congestion at times, but it is most definitely a lovely spot.

It's always worth a stop at Gooseberry Falls to take the short walk to see the falls. It costs $7 for a day-use pass for all Minnesota State Parks. So you pay once and can visit several parks. If you hav e time and don't mind steps, take the short walk up to the Highway 61 bridge that goes over the falls. From there, you get a great view of the Upper Falls that I believe many people miss, because you can't see them from the lower viewing area.

We started at the park center building where there is a lot of historical information about the wildlife, natural surroundings and park history. Then we took a short walk/hike to the falls which were picturesque. People were friendly and although the park was busy it didn’t feel over crowded. A great place to enjoy the out of doors!

What a beautiful park! We enjoyed the well groomed trails to walk around the gorgeous falls. We were surprised (pleasantly) that there was no entrance fee. This is a must see!

The falls parking is actually free; if you want to go into the state park, you have to pay. Parking was a bit challenging, but we finally found spot. A nice visitor center with clean restrooms are waiting.
You can take an easy walk to the upper, middle and lower falls, or a more strenuous round trip.
There are lots of opportunities to access the water and take some nice pictures. We had a great time stretching our legs before getting on the road for a few hours.
You need to be able to walk steps and or ramps.

Well maintained campground and state Park . Plenty to do and see. Beautiful surroundings with Lake Superior and Gooseberry falls !!!

Very touristy and felt more like a tourist attraction than a natural park. The calls were pretty but there was a ton of rifraf throwing trash around and being loud.

Well laid out trail to the waterfall. Easy parking, no fee to view. Lots of families enjoying the lower falls.

Loads of hiking opportunties here not only to the falls, but also down to the Big Lake. There are wide paved trails as well as more rustic foot trails. All around lovely scenery. As a history geek I also really love all the CCC information- best spot in the country for this.

Gooseberry Falls is a spectacular place to visit. Their visitors center has something for everyone, information areas and a very nice gift shop. The trails are well marked and black topped for easy hiking and very much handicapped accessible. Just a beautiful spot for nature. There are camp grounds too.

For being a wayside this a a pretty park. Again, we planned on a quick stop and ended up staying for 45 minutes. You can walk all around the falls and there are easy to walk ways.

Beautiful park. The waterfall is great, but the real gem is the picnic area that overlooks Lake Superior!
Bring bug spray!

Stretch your legs for a short walk to the falls... well worth it! Love that this place is totally free to visit.. and the falls are some of the best around.

I sort of had to convince my husband to come here and, boy, we are both glad that I did. It is super beautiful and much larger than I realized. There are places to get out into the water as well as benches to sit on and great overlooks for pictures. You could spend anywhere from 30 minutes to hours here. No matter how long, it will be time well spent!

Awesome views and hiking for all. Both casual walking/accessible trails and more challenging for the adventurous. So pretty to see.

We were headed up to Split Rock for the first time and weren't sure where we were going and turned into Gooseberry by mistake initially. We decided to continue to Split Rock and then hit this on the way back.
This was definitely one the best wrong turns I have taken. Everyone had so much fun climbing around the rocks by the falls and being able to see the falls up close.
It was a beautiful area and the path system was great, it got you close enough for those with diminished mobility to still make it to the falls while still leaving the falls mostly untouched.

While the views are awesome and a must see, the crowds are a deterrent as most people do not knows how to act in this environment. Be careful around the falls as they are slippery

The falls are absolutely beautiful. You are able to walk right up to the edge of the falls. Makes for great photos.

This is a 3.1 mile trail within the park. You can see all four falls and enjoy the beatific scenery along the gooseberry river. We had so much fun. It is not as well marked but whether you take the right or left fork, you will be in the right place. We loved it. NOT to be missed.

This is a beautiful park. The upper and lower falls are close to the parking lot and easily reached. There is a shorter path with steps and a longer one without steps. There are some nice trails in the park too. The visitor center has nice bathrooms, a cool interpretive area with taxidermy animals, and a nice gift shop. This is a great state park. The waterfalls are nice anytime but most impressive in the spring.

We enjoyed hiking the park and relaxing with a wonderful view of the falls. We liked the view of the upper falls better than the lower.

LOVED how easy it was to get to the falls. I definitely didn't bring clothes for hiking so I was in flip flops, leggings, and a t-shirt and didn't feel unprepared for where we were. The paved paths were a very welcome surprise and getting to and from the falls couldn't have been easier! I loved that you could see both the upper and lower falls and get around both as much as you wanted to explore. We'd definitely come back!

Used to come here often in the 1970's and 1980's. A lot has changed since then, except the falls. There is a visitors center, and from there, there are walkways to the falls, of which there are two falls nearby each other. You can see the falls from the walkways as well as go down to them on stairs. The thing that didn't change, which was nice, was that once you get to the falls, you can wander around on the rocks around them. They didn't gentrify the place.

Never a disappointment in the spring when snow is melting. After a horrendous winter, the snow disappeared in a matter of days leaving waterfalls flowing heavily. This is a very popular MN state park, so plan on people. You do NOT need a park pass to access the main falls, only if you go farther into the park. The main visitor's center is beautiful with lots to look at. Take some of the hiking paths on the banks of the Gooseberry River or to the top of the lookout over Lake Superior to get away from the crowds. Main falls are only a short walk from the parking lot and accessible.

I have been to this park three times now, and although this last time was a bit more crowded than the previous visits, it was still a really great way to spend a hot July afternoon. This park's waterfall has many different levels to hike around & a loop walking path around the park that gives gorgeous views of the falls. My favorite part of this park is that you can get up close to the falls and even dip your feet in the more shallow areas of the pools to cool off on a hot day. There were many warning signs posted regarding swimming in the water and the potential for strong currents, but there were lots of people & children all swimming in the pools at the bottom of the main falls.

A perfect walk to break our journey north. The paths are paved which make for easy walking. The views are great with several opportunities for a great photo.

Great views of multiple falls. The water was really flowing with all the rain. Only had about 2 hrs to see the park could have used another 2 to see some of the other trails.

Very popular spot so we drove around looking for a spot. Then realized we could pay $7 to park further into the park. Next time I will go straight to the pay spot. Great casual hike to see nature and falls. Will definitely return.

Gooseberry falls has much more for facilities, like nice bathrooms, than some of the other state parks farther up the north shore. It is very popular and draws crowds. One of the more “touristy” parks but very beautiful. When hiking down the trail you can go left and walk under the over pass bridge to the upper falls, or turn right and see the other lower falls- equally as great. The trails are paved and are good for all ages and abilities to reach at least views of the falls.

Gooseberry Falls is a quintessential North Shore stop! Though it can get busy on weekends, there is ample parking and plenty of space to walk around. We brought our dog and it was relatively easy to navigate with her. You can do as much or as little as you want- make it a five minute stop or a nice hike. Be sure to check out the top falls- most people miss those. And navigate to the bottom to get the full view (and best pics!). I’d suggest making a stop at Bettys Pies for a snack at the falls :)

It is beautiful but the drought has resulted in very low water. I am sure this is awesome in the spring. Everyone recommends.

We are not hikers, but the walk to Middle Falls was very doable. The scenery is beautiful. The twisted tree trunks were particularly interesting. Worth a quick stop.

There were great views and nice trails. The visitor center, has restrooms, a tiny museum, and large gift shop. There is no charge to visit the falls.

On our trip along the North Shore Scenic Drive we stopped at Gooseberry Falls State Park. We had heard how impressive these falls were and we weren't disappointed. Parking was easy in the large lot. Then we visited the excellent visitors centre. There are hard dedicated paths along to the falls, you can see the upper, then the middle falls area and walk down further to the lower area. The falls are quite unique as you can walk over the rocks right up to the waters edge. Recommended.

Of the five Water Falls we pulled over for on Route 61 this was by far the largest and most touristy of them all. Parking was crazy. The masses were all here. Nice little hike but even with the Covid, parents wern't controling there kids. Running around like animals with no masks and parents in another world. We were there about 11:30 on our way down the North Shore. That was to late. Get here early and avoid the crazy crowds.

A bit crowded by the visitors center and lower falls, but we started with the upper falls trail (warned by other reviewers). Nice hike, not hard, great views though. Husband and daughter got a few mosquito bites but they spared me somehow ;)

This is a great park with multiple waterfalls all in one place. Trails to falls easy and not long. Nice restrooms and gift shop.

It was a nice hot summer day and a perfect time to visit the falls. Just about 40mins.or so from Duluth. Great place for kids and all ages to get into the water. It is a small walking distance from the parking lot. Wheelchair accessible. Experience standing under the water fall. Will return next time we are in the Duluth.

Popular stop even when the weather isn't that great. Lovely falls, good walk. Some of the trails are much lesser explored and make a great outing if you wish to go a bit farther then most of the crowd. Good accessibility for folks who have more difficulty getting around. Nice store and clean bathrooms.

Great spot along the North Shore with a short hike to see the Middle and High Falls of the Gooseberry River. Probably the most popular spot along the North shore so expect crowds.

Gooseberry is amazing in every season. In spring, torrents of snowmelt make the falls spectacular. On a hot summer day, wading and playing in upstream pools will always cool you off. Fall brings amazing leaf colors, while winter turns waterfalls into massive ice sculptures. One of the best views in the park is only a short walk from the visitor center, making it easy for non-hikers to appreciate. One caveat -- the trails are hideously slippery in winter. Wear cleats, and sturdy gloves to protect your hands from their death grip on the handrails.

A favorite place when I was growing up and one that I still return to every time I have an opportunity to do so. There is no admission, and the parking is generous. Stop at the Visitor Center for park maps, restrooms, snacks, and the gift shop. Also stop at the historical display at highway level, and just up the road from the Visitors Center. We walked down to the bridge at the bottom on the side with the steps. The steps are nice for frimmer footing and save the paths from foot erosion. Then we turned around and went back up to the foot path under the highway bridge. It was a lovely time for photos and an enjoyable time.

Cleaning lady was extremely rude and disrespectful. After I slipped and got my clothes wet, I went into the family restroom to dry myself off. This white, blonde, older women banged the door, but since I couldn't hear from the dryer, I was unaware what she said. However, once I came out, she was complaining about the noise, I asked her why she was being rude. She stated that the dryers are not meant for drying. I restated her statement and said she could have addressed me more respectfully. After going back and forth she said and I quote " I hope you fall into the water again" and she sticked out the middle finger at me and my younger sister. This behavior is unacceptable and ruined my experience. I don't plan on returning, if this is the type of staff you have.

We stopped and walked around the park. Visitor center was closed but we walked around the park on the various trails. Many places along the way for some great photos. Need to watch out on when on the non paved paths as the exposed roots of the trees can easily trip you up. Many park benches to sit and take the fresh air and sounds of the waterfalls. As a first time visitor, I would like to come back in the spring of the year when more water.

My wife and I generally make two trips to this state park each year- a February snowshoe outing and a May birdwatching/hiking outing. We just visited, and found the trails very food for snowshoeing- we did the Fish Falls loop and then the loop on the snowshoe trail north of the river- fun!

Not enough can be said about this park. It was stunning. The hike, the scenery, the waterfalls!!!!
We went in a Thursday, after Labor Day, arriving by 9 and it was not crowded. We did hear locals saying the falls were nothing like normal due to a lack of rain.
It was still beautiful and was probably our favorite state park on the North Shore!

The views and the hiking trails are amazing. This is a great place for a picnic or to go camping or canoeing. When the water is low on the Falls you can wade in pools and get a massage from the falling water. If the water is high it is a spectacle to behold. It's also really nice that all you need is a parking sticker to be there. They don't charge just to hang out and see the view.

We have been to Gooseberry Falls many times in the summer and fall, but going in the winter was a first for us!
We loved seeing the frozen waterfalls!!
The walkways were very clean - the park service does a great job of not letting them get too icy.
It was far less crowded than summer - and so much easier to get pictures without other people in them🤣.
Definitely worth a stop if up in the area in the winter.
(If you go during the summer or fall - get there early to avoid the crowds and get a parking space).

Visited this park after hiking at split rock. We did the fifth falls trail, which was great in getting away from the crowd. The beginning of this trail is not well marked, but there is clearly a path. Nice easy hike. Scenery is pretty.

Beautiful place. Easy hike to the fall for family with little ones. Just beautiful and fun for all. Lots of people but you can hike all around and play in the water. A must see for those who travel around the area.

Such a beautiful park. The falls are wonderful and the hiking trails are great. Can't do the North Shore drive without stopping here.

I always stop when I'm in the area some nice hiking trails and of course the waterfalls camp sites a nice visitor center just a short drive past Two Harbors

Gooseberry Falls are a must see part of Minnesota. No matter the time of year, it is beautiful. Nature is breathtaking and always peaceful. The Fall colors were a bonus!

It was crowded. I would recommend early in the morning for a visit. Very hard to social distance on the path of you are concerned. Great falls, great views, beautiful area.

When stopped in the afternoon and it was very hot and very busy. The falls are very beautiful, but it requires a lot of walking to see everything.

Very enjoyable experience. Kids will most certainly love it. Parking was kind of scarce, but worth the walk to the falls.

Amazing series of fall right on main north shore drive. Nice paths pretty stroller accessible. Can clamber on some rocks stick your feet in has a loop trail and descent hike. Nice taxidermy in visitor center

Perfect first stop on Hwy 61 North Shore Road Trip! Just a short & easy walk to see Middle & Lower Falls - a bit longer hike to reach the vantage point for the upper falls! Beautiful views from each of 3 areas! The State park Visitor Center is a first class faciltiy with interesting information & history of the park as well as housing a nice gift shop! Early September is a great time to visit!

Made a quick stop to check out the falls. So impressed with the grounds. Easy, paved path to the falls. Option to go upper or lower (do both). You can walk out onto the rocks and right up to the falls. Beautiful scenery and there are a ton of hiking options here. The is a lake, picnic options, and so much more. Lovely visitor center with a gift shop. They also offer free group tours during summer. We didn't spend a ton of time here, but want to come back since we liked it so much. It does get really crowded, so get there early for easy parking.

On our way to Grand Marais, we stopped at Gooseberry Falls. Although it was a weekday, the parking lot was full. The paved walkway takes the hiker to Middle Falls and Lower Falls (the latter is more like rapids). Another short walk took us to Upper Falls which were higher and had more volume. We sat on a bench for a while, just relaxing and gazing at the site. This is a nice stop if you're in the area.

Second time back to this park becuse we liked it so much for the first time. The trail is short, the visior center is beautful, and the falls are very nice. Entry is free. Easy to find and right off the highway. Highly reccomended.

Gooseberry Falls is a must stop if you are traveling up the North Shore! Great hiking opportunities. Beautiful scenery and loads of history.

Lots of hiking opportunities here - trails in fairly good shape with some roots exposed - nice views of the falls and great visitor center -

This was our first stop on our journey to the North Shore after spending the night in Duluth. We spent the morning here it was so much fun! Wear water shoes and shorts so you can walk around the lower falls. My kids were able to swim a little as well. Glad we got there in the morning as it got crowded fast. We then left here and went up to Two Harbors and then up to Silver Bay to the Black Sand Beach to swim in Lake Superior. Was a great day!

Parking lots were packed. This seems either a popular geographical feature or it is likely the first when tourists start from the south along the Voyageur Highway 61 or MN’s North Scenic Drive along Lake Superior.

Outstanding visit. Great weather and fun hike for sunrise. Parking was easy. We ended up hiking the lower and upper falls and enjoyed the park so much we decided to hike gummy guchi trail. Great views

What a pretty and well-maintained park! We walked all levels of the falls and each view was lovely. People we met were very friendly.

You can go on the Yodel App for $7 (July 2024) you can have one day admission to all Minnesota State Parks. Route 61 north of Duluth to the Canadian border along Lake Superior is one of Americas most scenic highways, I was impressed. Make sure that you give yourself time to see multiple state parks in this region. Some of the best collections of waterfalls that I have seen.

This is a free stop, unlike the split rock, so there will be many people around. We wore masks as we hiked but you can find secluded areas to rest and enjoy nature. Our 3 year old loved hiking and playing in the water!

Best waterfall hiking in Minnesota. Very nice facilities. Great trails. Fabulous falls. What more could you ask for? Takes 2 hours to do it justice. You could spend the whole day if up for it.

We hiked to the lower, middle, and upper Falls and they were flowing incredibly heavy due to all the rain. They truly were amazing to view especially in the fall with the colorful trees. We then hiked up to fifth Falls which we were told was more like a rapid, however I would disagree with that as it was a very nice water fall-again probably due to all the rain! Of course, the trails were pretty muddy but that did not stop us. If you are in this area, I would highly recommend several hours stop here.

This is a must see! Beautiful falls and easy trails to walk. They are well marked and very enjoyable. It was so peaceful during the off season.

As we began our visit up the North Shore- we went here first and was totally impressed!! The visitors center was wonderful- such a great selection and the people were very friendly. The trails were easy to hike and the views were awesome! Would totally recommend stopping here. You won’t be disappointed!!

Finally made it to this Minnesota landmark park. Beautifully maintained. Family friendly. Walking path for all.

this was also a family friendly hike to see. plenty of waterfalls along the way. with the drought that we are in, i couldnt imagine this when we arent. Still very beautiful. a recommended spot to see when in area.

My family and I enjoyed Hiking through the park & the Falls area.
** In the late 1990’s I was up here with a couple of girlfriends & in the early 1980’s I was up here with my family as a teenager. I’ve always enjoyed going up to northern Minnesota around Lake Superior.

Great park any time of year, but with the heavy runoff this Spring, it is a sight to behold! Nature is fascinating.

This Minnesota State Park truly highlights everything that makes the North Shore special. The visitor center features informative exhibits, and the DNR offers various programs, including guided hikes (see link below). There are fantastic trails with many boardwalks that lead to breathtaking views of the falls, opportunities to listen/view the birds, as well as take in the majestic views of Lake Superior. There is history as well with over 80 stone structures built by the CCC (Civil Conservation Corp) established by FDR in 1933. I’ve been here more times than I can count, and every visit feels unique—each season brings a different experience and a new reason to return. They also have excellent bathrooms and a water bottle filling station.

I decided to get my kids out of town and out I to nature for this special holiday amid all the Covid challenges! We hiked to the middle and lower falls and is an easy hike on a paved path. There are stairs leading down to the side of the falls and then if you climb down the rocks you can wade into the pools of water below the falls.
My kids spent hours swimming and playing in the refreshing waters.
We also hiked up to the Upper falls and there is a larger water fall and a larger pool for swimming but it is much deeper.
There is a visitor center near the parking lot with restrooms. You can access the falls and hiking without paying to get I to the state park.
Kids and I vowed to do this again when we are in the Duluth area! It was our favorite active of our 4 days here!

Gooseberry is a beautiful slice of the north shore area, nature trails are amazing and gorgeous. A very nice way to spend the day.

One of the best North Shore treasures for folks who enjoy casual hiking and beauty.
Great displays in visitor center. A hike to the middle falls is doable for just about anyone. Very accessible.

The waterfall is not well controlled. People are everywhere and the beauty is lost. Nearly impossible to get a good picture without someone in it. We went on a Saturday, that probably didn’t help. Recommend going to upper first then to middle then lower falls.

A beautiful state park! The waterfalls are truly magical, the bridge structures lovely and trails abound.
Just beware, if you go in the summer, So. Many. People.

It was easy to park this time, plenty of parking and to be able to easily walk everywhere to see the sights, the waterfalls were in full force and lovely! You could get right up to them, lots of pics taken!

Not terribly impressed. But we have seen a lot of waterfalls. It wasn’t in full mode so maybe that was part of it not seeming so awesome.

We were on our first leg of the Superior Circle Tour and only had time to make the upper falls loop. Very beautiful falls here and we loved the scenery including lots of Gooseberry plants. The under the bridge walk was quite interesting too.

We were here during low water, so the waterfalls had very low volume but what water was there was impressive. You could tell these were very spectacular falls. The variety of trails was very nice and since the water level was low, we could explore more of the Waterfall and riverbed areas safely.

Great visit! This place had been recommended by several people but we were a bit concerned with the crowds on a beautiful Saturday in June. We arrived at the park around 11am and we quickly decided to do the Fifth Falls trail in order to avoid the crowds of people that seemed to be headed to the paved trails. I am so glad we did, we enjoyed walking on both sides of the river and seeing the falls. What a wonderful time. There are so many great picnic spots! When we left the parking lots were full and cars were parked along the road. If you are looking to avoid the crowds be sure to arrive early.
Highly recommend!

We as a family have gone here many times and it always seems to show us something new. It is a big area to explore and is fantastic

A fun place to hike and climb around on all of the rocks near the Falls. Our kids did not want to leave!

The falls alone are spectacular but make sure you leave time to hike down to the lake as well. The entire park is gorgeous! Don't just stop for the falls when a huge park is there for you to explore ! Great hiking!

Parking was very crowded but we didn't mind having to walk a bit further. The visitor center had a lot of neat exhibits and educational displays. A nice gift shop as well, although we didn't purchase anything. Nice detailed maps are posted with trail descriptions as well as difficulty level. Such beautiful tall trees and wildlife surrounds you. Once you get to the falls its mesmerizing. The sounds/visuals are fantastic. You can climb around the rocks and get into the water in some areas. Was a fantastic place to visit and I'm glad we stopped!

Came here on a Saturday durning some rain because I love waterfalls. Forgot a rain coat/umbrella which didn’t stop me from seeing some falls. Loved it! Will come back to do more hiking and maybe some camping.

I read an article that said this was the most visited state park in Minnesota. It's a VERY busy place if you come after 9am.
I wanted to make this our first stop since I wanted less hectic experience. We did the hike to the middle & lower falls first. We had 3 state parks to visit & that's all I made time for. There was not that many people there at 8:30 am on a Saturday. We did the hike & saw the falls. There was already a couple of guys walking around on top of lower falls.
Back to the visitor center which was supposed to open at 9am. Guess what? NOT!
Sign on the door said 10am. Of course you can't be bothered to change it on your website.
We decided to move on & come back later. Holy Cow! What a cluster. People parking up & down the road to the parking lot. Cars everywhere - people everywhere. Noon is not the time to go on a Saturday.
Made a quick stop in the visitor center & left.
My advice - GO EARLY!!

On a total lark, I pulled the car over to see if this state park had anything to offer. I'm so glad I did. The kids spent two hours climbing all over the falls. Apparently we got a bit lucky. The lower falls are often closed due to rain. Dog friendly too!

This is such a beautiful place! It is easy to access all levels of the falls. You can walk out onto the rocks and through the water in some places.

My husband and I explored this park on our anniversary. The paved trails were amazing and easy to walk. We plan to go back and explore more before our vacation is over!

I so Love Gooseberry Falls SP! I highly recommend going to the falls early in the day! There is no way to social distance into the trails around the falls. Once you are away from the falls it’s perfect. Campground is fantastic!

Minnesota tourism is really for those who appreciate nature, and Saturday in May at the park was busy with families and friends, enjoying the falls' views. There are three waterfalls, easy to reach and captivating. Worth a trip, even a short one, to experience.

We visited in mid-October,missing most of the leaf change and in the rain, and it was still marvelous. The easy walk to the falls was just the ticket after getting off the plane in Duluth, and the walk down to Agate Beach and hunting for stones was a lot of fun. Our favorite stop going up the coast!

Amazing State Park! Hike along the river down to Lake Superior - it’s so worth the hike and views on the rocky shore. Lots of picnic tables and fire pits down along the shoreline too. Always fun to walk along the shore and listen to the waves.

Followed everyone's reviews and found ourselves hiking both the upper and lower and middle falls. Not a long hike. We did add an additional leg unintentially trying to find the lake. We never did as it started to rain

I hgighly recommend visiting the falls! I have a torn meniscus and was able to walk all levels of the falls area. This is an annual trip we like to make in the fall to experience all the colors but even in the summer the falls will not disappoint!

We went to the Visitor Center (restrooms, water bottle fill-up station, gift shop) then went to the Middle and Lower falls, realized later that we had missed the Upper falls. We went back to the parking lot and drove to the parking area near the campground and walked a short trail from there to the lava flow on the shore of Lake Superior. This was a very pretty area. Driving out of the park, we saw a deer.

Spectacular! And Amazing to visit in early May to see the falls at full strength. We have visited in summer and enjoyed the falls but they are truly fascinating to visit late April and early May with all the melting snow. Also, no crowds and few people make for a more peaceful experience. The falls are so forceful this time of year that they hurt your ears standing next to them.

A top rated attraction indeed. This park was the highlight of our trip. A bit crowded in spots otherwise plenty of photo opportunities.

Stopped here to explore nature and the waterfalls. Great stop on the ride north. Just one of the lovely parks on the Lake.

We stayed for 4 nights on a no electricity site in our teardrop camper and had a great time. The bathhouses are excellent and we had water across from our site. There are several hiking trails accessible from the campground and all were well maintained. We saw a variety of wildlife and great views of the lake and waterfalls.
The area around the visitor center is really crowded with day users. The campground and waterfront are isolated and private. The campground was clean, well kept and quiet at night.
There are a lot of restaurants and things to do in Two Harbors.

The upper/mid and lower falls are spectacular and a must see. Easy access from the visitor center. Lots of parking. There is no cost to enter the park and see the falls. Got to see the falls, really beautiful.

Unplanned stop here on our way back to Duluth from Split Rock lighthouse. By the time we arrived the visitor center was closed but the park was still open with only handful of people there. It was a fairly easy 5-10 minute walk to the falls on a paved trail. There are several steps but it looked like there was an accessible route for the middle and upper falls as well. We started at the middle falls and walked up to the upper. The middle falls are the largest but the upper falls are pretty too. You can walk down a few steps from the middle towards the lower falls and from there can actually walk on the flat part and get your feet wet in the small pools. The steps do go all the way down to the lower falls but they are the smallest and not as pretty. We spent 30-45 minutes there, walking around and taking pictures. It's a nice stop if you have the time.

Wanted to visit at there wayside rest area at the Falls .When we arrived the truck and Rv parking only was full to capacity .NOT ONE RV or TRUCK. All cars .That is not right they should have been told to move .We had to carefully drive right thru .No where to park

We camped for 5 nights at Gooseberry and it was wonderful! The campsites are spacious, well-spaced, and well-maintained. Trees and vegetation between the campsites offer good privacy from your neighbors. Our campsite (#49) was a short walk on a footpath to the bathrooms/shelter and water source, but the vegetation around the campsite was a good buffer to noise that comes from being conveniently located near the bathrooms. The shelter is amazing! It's fully enclosed and has picnic tables and a fireplace, so it was a warm, dry place on a couple of cold, rainy days. The campsites don't have electric hookups, but the shelter does. It was a short walk to the agate beach and picnic flow, and to the trails to the falls, which are some of the best on the North Shore.

A lot of people stop to see the middle falls here but not many continue upstream to the upper falls or the fifth falls. Those trails are beautiful in summer or winter (some requiring snowshoes). The park is beautifully maintained and a real treasure.

Amazing place - terrific place for families. Lots of things to see and do. Great short hikes available. If possible, suggest visiting both the Upper and Lower Falls.
If you are fortunate, you can visit shortly after rain has fallen. The Falls are spectacular after rains.
However, even if there's not a huge amount of water flowing, this still is a wonderful place to visit.

We parked and walked by the visitor's center before we saw the first sign on where to go. There are 3 areas...top, middle and bottom. The middle is the most scenic. It's an easy walk from the Visitors center. We also walked to the bottom. It's worth the stop.

These falls are ten-stars anyway you look at them. You can get close and personal with the water if you dare. Many, many locals brought their dogs to enjoy the cool water. Short walk to the falls then a hundred+ stairs to enjoy the entire view.

I enjoy this place. Things they have there include a waterfall, nature trails etc. They also have a beach, as well as a visitor center which includes a gift shop and some exhibit space. They even have different areas where you can view the waterfall. (Such as Lower Falls, Middle Falls, & Upper Falls). Highly recommend this place for those who haven’t been to the North Shore.

What a great park and beautiful falls!
Many trails to hike and close to the falls,Awesome gift shop too!

We have visited Gooseberry sever times in the summer. It was nice to see it in the winter! The falls were beautiful. They were a mixture of ice and flowing water!

This state park is an excellent example of the contribution made by the CCC to the country in the early 20th century. There are numerous walking trails to take an interact with nature. The walk to Gooseberry Falls is a good walk to get your juices flowing. It is a very beautiful spot in the park

This place is an absolute gem! There is 3 lots of waterfalls. Water was gushing. Plenty of opportunities for photos. Nice little treks to walk around also.

We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spend at Gooseberry Falls State Park. The kids loved exploring and climbing on the rocks. We all thought the falls were beautiful and we saw a mama merganser and her babies swimming as well! The last time we came here years ago, the water was really high and actually kind of scary, but this time was a lot lower and we enjoyed it quite a bit more.

Multiple waterfalls a short distance from the parking lot on relatively flat trails. But, other waterfalls also for those that seek rugged hikes that are 2+ hours long.

We stopped briefly to walk the falls and take some pictures. It had rained the night before so the falls were spectacular. Walk ways make it easy and safe to get around .

Stopped on our way to Gunflint Trail. Free Parking by the visitor center. Small hike down the trail but worth it!

Great park with handicapped accessible walkways. Beautiful waterfalls. Nice visitor center with good restrooms.

One of the coolest places we went on our trip!! The trails were awesome and the views were phenomenal. We spent about 25/35 minutes here just exploring and taking photos!

We have been here multiple times and there is something about coming here in the Winter that adds to the beauty of it. The crowds are significantly smaller, it’s more peaceful and open. We recommend it for those who want to see the park without all the summer craziness. You can walk, snowshoe, or cross country ski. Well worth the trip, just dress warm.

we were delighted to be in such a beautiful place! take your coats! other falls and parks were closed due to weather and nesting season but we had a great time at Gooseberries. The office was closed cause we arrived late but we had a blast of time and pics.

The falls are simp!y breathtaking. Hike is short but beautiful. If you are feeling adventurous, you can swim at the bottom of the falls.

What a beautiful place! It's a very short hike to the falls. We were hoping for a bit more, but the views were worth it anyway. I would go again, but would try to go on a not-holiday weekend in order to avoid the crowds.

What more can you say about Gooseberry that hasn't already been said. If you're planning a North Shore adventure, Gooseberry is must-see. If you don't make time to see this amazing location, you've left a hole in your adventure!

Gorgeous views! Was a bit more of a hike than we expected so I would recommend comfortable/closed-toed shoes if planning to explore!

Beautiful park with trails around the falls/river. Great to explore around and get your feet wet. Welcome center looked nice but we just missed its hours.

Really nice small walk. Time to stretch our legs. Park employees were very helpful. Three falls--upper, middle, and lower

There’s so much to love about Gooseberry Falls. First off, we loved that it was free. No admission fee is always a nice thing. We also loved the abundance of parking as Gooseberry Park is a very busy place.
The hiking trails are very easy and also beautiful, and it’s a relatively short hike to the falls. There are three levels… upper, mid and lower… each with their own beautiful views. We really appreciated the fact that, unlike many other parks, you’re able to go right up to the falls. Too many parks have things roped/fenced off, but at Gooseberry you can literally wade in the water, touch the falls, etc.
Whatever you do, make sure to bring your camera because the photo ops here are endless. My photog wife spent a lot of time here taking scores of pictures from every conceivable angle. This area is definitely a photographer’s dream.
We’re very glad we had an opportunity to check out this beautiful park, and we highly recommend that you do too if you’re in the area.

My husband and I were taking the Lake Superior Scenic North Shore drive and one of our stops was Gooseberry Falls State Park. We weren’t able to explore the entire park, but we enjoyed visiting the upper, middle and lower portions of the falls.
All of the falls are very close to the Visitor Center, and except for a few spots on the trail, are completely accessible to wheeled conveyances such as wheelchairs or strollers. There are several places where visitors may step out onto the lava that forms the bed of the river, especially when the season is drier. To say the falls are picturesque is an understatement. The falling water, framed by leafy branches and contrasted by the dark lava bed, is a lovely sight. Definitely a photo op!
I want to commend the state of Minnesota for having WONDERFUL Visitor Centers at their state parks! Every center we visited was quite modern, clean, with an open floor plan, and had bathrooms, a gift shop, and interpretive plaques and display areas for points of interest in the park. Some centers even had sitting areas and fireplaces for campers to come in and warm themselves.
Gooseberry Falls is absolutely worth a stop for anyone taking Hwy 61 up the North Shore!

Fabulous and empty. Hike the loop but lots of elevation change. Restrooms open, but other visitor center is closed.

Beautiful park in northern Minnesota! The falls are beautiful and the grounds as well. Only thing we didn't like was all of the adults and children were swimming in the falls which according to the signs was not allowed.

Gotta stop. We have gone to this park every time we go up the north shore. The falls were flowing not as strong as spring and not at a dribble like at the end of summer. We didn’t hike this time but always fun to see the falls.

Gooseberry Falls State Park is a gem in the Minnesota State Park System. The falls incorporate three distinct cascades with numerous trails to reach each level and the a bridge at the base to capture all three at once for pictures. Their visitor center is also superb with plenty of literature, maps and gifts.

My wife and I drove up to Gooseberry Falls to cross country ski on December 27th 2019. At first we hiked to the falls then down to the lake it was breathtakingly beautiful. We went back to the car and strapped on our skis and took the trail that wrapped back down to the lake. Although the conditions were icy we found that the trails by the lake were beautifully groomed. We decided (having talked to the lady at the desk) that we should try out the trails above the falls. These trails had not been groomed in a long time, and were in some cases poorly marked. The poor management of the trails (huge icy downhills without tracks even though they were supposedly for classic cross country skis) made us feel extremely fortunate that we didn't break any bones on the way down. PS: We saw a lot of wolf tracks.

Gooseberry Falls is a must-stop on the North Shore. We arrived around 9:30 on a Sunday morning and it was perfect. The parking lot was about 1/2 full. There is also adequate parking for trailers and RVs which is where we needed to park. A short walk will get you to the visitor center. You do not need a state park sticker for this area, which is nice. We did have a state park stickers just because there is so many places you will want to visit along the North Shore that requires a sticker (or day pass). The visitor center is very nice....plenty of bathrooms, a water bottle filling station, a help desk, and a gift shop. I got stung while at the falls and when we returned to do some shopping I mentioned it to the cashier and she graciously gave me a few stings wipes to help.
The falls area is a short walk and accessible for all. The water was very low but there were still a falls and the kids had a great time exploring and playing around. we got some fantastic pictures and really enjoyed the nice morning. Not a ton of people but when we left about an hour later there were a lot coming in and the parking was full. There are trails you can take from this area to Lake Superior but it's about a mile hike. We decided to load back up in the RV and go down to the picnic area (a fee area) and have a short walk to the Lake to look for rocks and agates. Also very fun and a must-do! The flies were horrible during our trip out to the Lake but not a one at the falls.
The visitor building also has a vending machine for snacks and beverages. They also had a small freezer with ice cream treats. Perfect for a warm morning already in the 80's.

Beautiful! Family friendly
Easy hike, stairs closer to the falls but the trail to them was short and level.
Absolutely beautiful! The visitor center is very nice.

Absolutely loved it! It is an absolute must when you’re in the area. The waterfalls were beautiful and refreshing. The upper falls were gorgeous and the fifth falls were peaceful and romantic. Pies from The Rustic Inn were incredible!

I would recommend you review the website before going so you know what trail or sections you want to do. There is no cost if you park at the visitors center and walk in but note the main parking lot was not very big and the overflow is for RV's and large vehicles but folks park there too. We got there about 11 and had to park in the overflow area. The falls and Gitcha Gimma hike starts behind the visitors center opposite of the parking area. This trail is moderate with some ups and downs and stairs. Also lots of roots and rocks to navigate. If I recall it was 1.2 to 2 miles depending on your route. It was a very enjoyable hike and really like the view of Lake Superior about half way thru. On the way back you can take the route to the highway area under the bridge and see the upper falls and Castle structure. Don't forget your water, sunscreen and hat.

People of all abilities can enjoy this park. It's super popular, so it's best to go to the HIGH FALLS for a bit more privacy. I've done all the trails, and it's a good, solid park to visit.

Highly recommend this stop on MN north shore. Well maintained and delightful. Gorgeous trails and waterfalls. Loved it.

Gooseberry is a beautiful place. They have several trails to the falls. The one to the upper falls is pretty level and easy walking for a person with a cane. The visitors center is nice with plenty of bathrooms, vending machines, and gift shop.

Wonderful falls tons of water flows over the falls as people can stand below and feel the spray. Take the trip and enjoy the sites.

The trails to the falls were well marked. Many of the stairs had been recently replaced which made me feel really safe and comfortable. The park is well maintained with spectacular scenery.

Always a good time in nature. Water level low but still a wonderful place to visit. Took my mother here for she had not been back since her honeymoon 61 years ago. Her face spoke volumes as she went back in time. Blessed me to see her so happy filled with wonderful memories of my Dad.

We always have to stop at Gooseberry when we go this way. It does seem to be getting busier over the years, partly because of its accessibility, but still a nice place to stop and enjoy nature for all ages.

We loved it! We were able to take some beautiful photos and climb around on the rocks at the falls. There are multiple viewing areas

Stunning place to visit; beautiful falls, 2 within 10 minutes easy walking of parking lot, very nice visitors center.

There were so many falls that I lost count.
There were many Bridges to cross the river and tons of photo opportunities.
Hiked on the Superior Trail on one side of the river then the easier hiking club route. Then used the road for the last half mile when tired.

Beautiful views on easy to walk trails through the park. There is some construction going on that interrupts some of the paths, but you can still access the falls from the base to the very top. Pet friendly trails as well!
Gooseberry got me!
Great time. Nice paths . Went for a short hike. penice falls to check out. People were friendly along the trail. the falls were special to see
