It's really pretty. The falls are cool. But part of the trail was closed and the maps were not at all clear. There was a smell of sewage throughout the park. Parking was easy. They are going to remove the falls at some point, so go before that happens. Just be prepared for not clearly marked detours and a bit of stink.

I love this place. When you hike the opposite side trail (of parking lot) you'll feel like your in another state!! This is my favorite side to hike. Bring your hiking stick- it'll help you! A must see!!

What a gem in the middle of a city.
My husband took me for a walk on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. If I lived in this city, I'd walk at this park every damn day. It's peaceful and relaxing. Nature inspires us!! The rocks in the park are unbelievable.
Go and check by yourself.

If you need a reason to stay home and view the wilderness from this part of this city then you will be doing what so many of residents have been doing for years - enjoy part of the wilderness without having to travel out side the limits of your city. I believe that this park is for those of us who can not afford to travel to the great national parks in the far western states. The presentation of the river wilderness has changed in recent years since they did away with the old power plant. They did remove part of the old mill dams and near by obstacles to letting the river flow naturally. I have heard about the plans to remove the larger old dam that still remains. Yes you might say that this an downtown oasis of sorts. But it is more than that for sure. Beauty spot for city! In recent years I have escorted visitors from France through this River Park Gorge and reminded them that this was part of new France three hundred years or so ago. That comment stopped them in the tracks for a moment. To get the full value of viewing this part of the n\the river wilderness you need to go upstream to where the old mill used to be in Cuyahoga Falls and beyond into Monroe Falls - maybe as far as Kent. There are two or three walking places with steps built by the city for getting visitors closer to the water. This turning point in the river sends the water northward to Cleveland. For now be satisfied with seeing the river in the Gorge Metro Park and walking along the hiking trails that are clearly marked. This is where many of us spent our childhood and adolescence. This is where boy scouts, cub scouts, and girl scouts learned about the the outdoors. This is where some of us learned about geology for the first time in our lives. Rock formations abound here. This is where the local environmentalists began their quest for knowledge. Playing little league baseball did not always measure up to walking outside in this park. For me and my friends this was where many of us took our first recess and knew the full meaning of the word. Watching the soap box derby did not have the same excitement as walking in the wilderness here. This was where we actually saw the photos found in National Geographic magazine. We were really interested in subscribing to that publication. This was National Geographic magazine come alive. For me this is one reason why this area has become a scenic part of the wilderness. No need to feel sorry for yourself if you can not travel to Glacier National park for a lack of money or transportation. See the Gorge Metro Park instead. I imagine that people with kayaks and boats would like to spend time here. Hiking to the dam can be worth your time but I encourage you to walk along the paths in the forest to stand underneath the high level bridge that separates Akron from Cuyahoga Fall just to get the full measure of the wilderness experience of walking in what is still the only remaining part if the outdoors worth visiting in this part of suburbia. No fast food restaurants there. If you like seeing the full force of a major river in this region much like it was centuries ago here it is in abundance. Remember this river goes northward to Cleveland. Think about that for two moments as you admire the river here. If you need a reason to take photographs and send post cards here it is. Walk along the old trail that takes you past Old Maid's Kitchen and the rocks piled up near by for beauty. The river might overwhelm you by itself. Do not let that stop you from viewing the remaining parts of the park. Walk on both sides of the old large dam or on both sides of the river. I do not know if boating is permitted through and past the old river bed. But it is worth asking questions about this. I do not recall seeing any concession stand and I am glad to make that statement in this review. Need a better reason to brown bag it?

The Gorge is a fun family hike. The cave, fishing dock, waterfall, cliffs, sights, and sounds make the trails a blast for the entire family.

A lovely well maintained park with nice walking/jogging trails and some nice views of the Cuyahoga River. This is a family friendly outdoor space. Very good use of public land.

Not for a old lady, but if you need a relaxing hike it is perfect. It has a waterfall that is small and powerful giving that relaxing sound of rain throughout the adventure. There is a cave I would not call a cave, but an indention in the rock formation that is a nice place to stop before continuing on the trail.

By brooklyn n |

My fiancé is from the area and while in town he took me here. Great trails and nice sensory. Will have to go back next time we are in town and its not so hot.

By hippie1586 |

We often hike here. It has a great location, and really good views in the spring, summer, and fall. A word to the wise- do not go after recent rain. The trails get slippery and muddy in a hurry, and take a long time to dry out.

By Cari M |

I've done all three trails here a multitude of times and the two that go along the "cliffs" just make me nervous. They are gorgeous trails -- some of the best in the Metroparks -- interesting and challenging (though the Glens is out and back and I prefer loops) with beautiful scenery, but like I said, I always feel like one of us is going to fall off. It's not an unfounded fear as it seems every year or so someone does. The "Highbridge" trail over the bridge is also out and back and seems almost completely flat. Compared to the other two it is downright boring, but if I want to walk somewhere flat, I'll go here.

This hidden gem of a park has great hiking trails through some of the best scenery in the area. I am a fisherman, and thought it would provide some access, but getting to the river safely is really tough. I would leave the rod in the car and just go for a hike!

By FarmGirl436 |

After attending Blossom for a concert the night before we enjoyed a quiet afternoon hiking through the park. Part of it was closed and parts of it smelled of nasty sewage. Being a Saturday we expected it to be busy but, it had only a few people. Not a strenuous walk, good for dogs and kids. We even had a deer run across the path in front of us.

By Stephanie M |

My mom and I came to Cuyahoga Falls for a weekend visit in May. We were grateful to have a beautiful day not too hot! The parking was plentiful, the bathrooms were clean and the maps were very helpful in marking the fitness level required for each of the trails.

We did the path that lead down to the falls which were well-kept. There was a dock for fisherman along the way and plenty of picnic spots. I appreciated that the stairs down to the falls were not steep, and there were benches for resting.

By markthesharkOhio |

I really don't like this park. It's filled with kids and strollers and very slow walking parents gossiping with other women about other women. You will see a few birds here and there and there's ducks on the pier but it's just a bunch of green rocks.

By CANDI S |

I love to go here and sit on the deck by the water fall and listen to the water hit the rocks. It has a nice claiming environment and nice scenery

By Brad N |

The park was pretty busy. It is a nice place to hike. People were friendly. I would go back again....

Sole purpose to try the 'handicap access' fishing pier here, and see the gorge before the dam is removed in 2017.

Park was empty at 6am opening on a Friday, on an 80+f forecast day. A dog walker and early jogger were already on the trails,

Good, prominent signage and park maps along the trails/trailheads. There are 2 trailheads - one on either side of the Gorge, with separate parking. You could walk over the regular street bridge to the other trail.

Dawn was lovely, geese taking of to migrate, blue heron fishing, ducks foraging, chipmunks gathering acorns, fish jumping for bugs... Highway noise from rt 8 is audible and intrudes. Light on the changing trees and still, leaf-riddled reservoir (no visible current!) was lovely too.

Trail to the observation deck and fishing pier is moderate, paved, continuous slope. I found it too difficult to climb on the return trip, having a lung disability. I had to stop 4 times to get my breath.

The pier is 14 steps down, or a long ramp can be used, from this trail. It's a LOT of walking if you are weak, elderly, or have a non-wheelchair-using disability. I do NOT consider it 'handicap friendly' for that reason. Handicap parking only gets you closer to the restrooms and trailhead. Without a powered chair, I think most wheelchair users would be stressed/find the trip uphill arduous. You might rest at the picnic area 2/3 of the way up. There's no other flat spots to get a breather, or sit.

Fishing is supposed to be good, but I had no luck. I saw what were likely bass leaping, and the typical small sunfish around the pier. Water is very still, and the pier is over fairly deep water - 9' I estimate. No seating. Flooring plastic boards. Very good fishing access if you can tolerate the long walk (for a weak/old/disabled person) and the climb back.

NOTE: the gorge is supposed to be part of the waterway restoration initiative. In 2017, the dam is going away. NO MORE RESERVOIR. It will be a while til the sludge/deposits are cleaned and new trails put in, as was the case in Cuyahoga Falls, with the removal of falls/dam by the Sheraton.

NOTE: Summit Park Rules - NO FISHING except in DESIGNATED spots.

Access from Howe Rd/Rt 8 interchange is perhaps 5 minutes, and is the least confusing way to approach the Gorge.

NOTE: most of the trails are NOT paved, and some are 'rustic'/'primitive'. Particularly the one to and from the historic Indian cave.

We live near here and come about every month or so, and we love it every time. The trail is very scenic.

By Lucy H |

Bring your all terrain tennis shoes as you wind up and around these park trails. The water fall and dam is pretty to look at and nature is enjoyed at its best. Mostly safe, but be careful of the sudden drops and the rocks that might trip. Enjoyable with others.

By Becky Y |

Beautiful views from the walking bridge and the wooden ramp. Only takes a minute to walk into the city park area to access these areas.

By lunahalogirl |

We enjoyed this beautiful metro park, well maintained trails, with some vigorous elements, but overall easy to traverse. More than a walk, but less than a hike. Perfect. Check out Mary Campbell's Cave & the Dam Falls.

By Lisa D |

but the melancholy lilt of a bagpipe. A local instrumentalist plays throughout the spring and summer and the sounds echo throughout the park. Mary Camble cave is a slight hike and worth the trek.

By Christina B |

As drove through Gorge Metro Park there are a number of places to stop & get out. Great area to take some hikes or stop & see the Falls. Trial isn’t overly long with wooden stairs that lead down to get a closer view. Well kept walking area & a number of areas with picnic tables.

By Nutz384 |

Took my 7 year old son there for a hike and we had a great experience. Easy to challenging trails made it perfect for us.

By Josh M |

Great loop trail, rocky terrain, slippery areas when wet. If you take the upper loop, be ready to climb over some rocks, wet areas etc.. got confused a few times on which way the trail went. I think the whole loop from start to finish is maybe 3-4 miles, took a good hour and a half to 2 hours. Take a plastic bag and help pick up trash people leave along the way. We enjoyed it and had two small children as well.

By FarAway194214 |

After visiting once before with the grandchildren they asked if we could do a cook out there. We had an awesome time again the kids love walking the paths climbing on the rocks I'm going down on the dock by the river

By Garber5 |

We have a group of coworkers who hike once a week. Usually, we try to find somewhere that has a cave, waterfall, or some type of ledges. This place has it all. It was a great hike, even if it was a bit icy. Would definitely recommend.

By April S |

To tell the truth, I'm a little tired of manicured semi-paved trails that you can take a stroller on. I prefer something a little more adventurous, and we found it here. The trail starts out pretty tame, but before long you're clambering across rocks at the base of a waterfall and climbing through a narrow crack between two boulders the size of a small house. Plenty of ups and downs, spectacular views of the river (especially during late autumn), and interesting rock formations. Not a fan of the sewer stench near the far end, but otherwise a great experience. Tip: use the restrooms at the beginning of the trail and wear comfortable shoes. Plan 35-45 minutes to complete the loop.

By 365aliciak |

This park is nice and has easy to moderate hiking trails. It is also home to the Mary Campbell Cave. There were some pretty cool rock formations and an old working damn but parts of our walk did smell of sewer water and parts of the park were littered with beer cans and other trash which was sad to see. Overall though, a very nice outing if you're just looking to do a quick hike

By Gretchen L |

We had am awesome family hike here. It was easy enough for my 6 year old and even had some flat places my toddler could walk on his own. For the adults there were a few "difficult" areas that were a bit more challenging but nothing that couldn't be done while wearing a baby hiking pack. Beautiful way to spend a summer afternoon.

By Sheryl B |

Pretty easy nice short hikes along the river. Nice rock formations and view of dam/waterfall. A bit muddy after a rain, but nothing too difficult for anyone in reasonable shape. Good sized parking lot, with second on the other side of Front Street bridge.

By oceansidedeb |

Beautiful park with so much history! Love walking the trails and relaxing in the natural habitat. Truly the beauty of nature at this park.

By earthgirl2019 |

I came home for a visit & of course went to the gorge.. Since living in Vermont, I was nervous i would find the gorge just boring, But it is such a part of my history, I was happy there.. Still lovely & safe.. a breath of fresh air in the middle of a stuffy area.. I love it!

By michelehA9816EO |

I have been taking my children here for years. We love to hike in this park. The trails are amazing and the water is beautiful. I would recommend everyone take their children there.

By John H |

Great place to visit very scenic good hiking trails highly recommend if you like the outdoors beautiful rock formations

By cfchic |

An experienced hiker would enjoy hiking through the Gorge Metro Park, however the trail can be very uneven and somewhat difficult for some. The rock formations and views are interesting to see. There are also some nice picnic areas.

By Jayce2016 |

Imagine life 300 years ago as you stroll down the paths and marvel at nature's wonders. All while thinking about who you love, who you are and who you want to become.

By TonyCav1020 |

I really enjoy walking there. Beautiful surroundings. Enjoy looking at the river. Not your normal boring park walk.

By 1palmtreelover1 |

I thought it was just hiking but there was a huge dam/water fall that was a complete surprise. Very tranquil and clean.

By Shaun M |

One of our favorite Metro Parks. Definitely a rugged terrain, but the breathtaking views are sensational.

By Ray_Notarian |

I've been here several times alone and with the crew. Very well maintained area. The other visitors are well behaved and respectful, I'm sure turds still go there, but I've never seen them. There are multiple trails to explorer, amazing how beautiful this place is and still kind of sort of in the city...

By Annie620 |

Disappointed. Lower gorge trail had sewer smell in many spots which none of the reviews mentioned, which of course took away from any nature experience. Wouldn’t visit again.

By DISBROD |

The entire walk provided tons of beauty including a group of four deer who decided to hike with us. The dam falls were so pretty and the water is so clear with fish jumping. The park has done a great job of staggering the staircases to make for a much easier descent and ascent.

By Sightsee_Eat |

We came from Columbus and stopped because we were early for dinner before play at Stan Hywet. Didnt have tennis shoes, so didnt go on the 1.8 mile trails, but did take the short walk to the dam. Parking lot right at trail heads. Took a picture of the falls, but see it's posted by Christie below in June. As you can see, man made and industrial looking, but nevertheless mighty water. Many excellently-maintained wooden stairs, so it was a nice workout. Portapotties and the below mentioned smells, but I just held my breath past those, and it was a lovely little break after the drive. There were two open fields and also a party house tucked on the overlook before the dam.

By Sherry G. |

Beautiful lush woods and exciting trail with spectacular view. Nice picnic grounds for family get togethers.

By Jayne T |

The gorge is a challenging hike but well worth it for the stunning scenery and views of the Cuyahoga river

By John F |

The Gorge has multiple trails to choose from and all are scenic and enjoyable. The different difficulty levels allow for an easier or harder hike depending upon your stamina.

By nrkamh11 |

The gorge has wonderful hiking trails. They are not paved trails and can be somewhat difficult to some individuals. If you are looking for a paved walk in the park, this is not the park for you. Great views when visiting in the fall and the leaves are changing!

By Donald P |

Bradywine Falls were my favorite falls. Blue Hen falls were not worth the walk. Mary Campbell cave my wife enjoyed, but not really a cave.

By IvanSusanin1613 |

The Gorge Metropark’s Highbridge Trail is fine for a winter hike, since the river view that makes it worthwhile is unimpeded by foliage then. Since there are two entrances to the park separated by a bridge across the Cuyahoga River, make sure to pick the right one (with a small unpaved parking lot and without bathrooms). The entire three-mile out-and-back trail skirts the Cuyahoga River. For the first five or ten minutes, the river is high, wide and placid, since it’s dammed into a reservoir, but once one reaches the dam, one is treated to an artificial waterfall that is particularly dramatic when the reservoir is swollen from a major snow melt and the water flow is particularly heavy. From then on, the river lies much further below the trail and its flow is boisterous and enchanting. The trail had light to moderate traffic when we visited and is just wide enough (in most places) for the social distancing required by the current pandemic. The view on the other side of the trail opposite the river is uninspiring, to be sure — a high cliff/bank topped by the backs of nondescript houses— and most of the trail passes under power lines, but the “gorge-ous” river view MORE THAN makes up for those blemishes. WARNING! There is a narrow wooden stepped footbridge hugging the cliff over a chasm about halfway through that is very slippery, that lists alarmingly and has a wobbly handrail in places. The mud and water typical after a snow melt are not excessive but the dirt and gravel trail can be unexpectedly slippery in places. All in all, a good spot for a brisk winter walk.

By SHCathcart |

This is a great park is our own backyard, clean trails and powerful waterfall! Many updates to bathrooms and trail. Lovely walk with moderate elevations and rock formations.

By ML K |

One of the Summit County MetroParks, Gorge has waterfalls, a huge dam (which is supposed to come down in the next few years, so see it while you can!) easy and more difficult hikes, a range of interesting mushrooms on season.

By jmc1958 |

Hiked the Glens trail along side the Cuyahoga River as part of the Summit MetroParks Fall Spree for All. A good trail with some ups and downs over rocks and under ledges, with many views of the Cuyahoga.

By Hockey fan |

Our family enjoyed this nicely maintained park off the beaten path. Our 2 to 3 mile hike was perfect during our road trip from indiana to pittsburgh. We will now incorporate this into our trip every time as time allows. The elevation and rocks were very pretty and trails were well maintained. Take an hour or so to check it out.

By Amy M |

a wonderful park with generally nice hiking paths, the upper trail has been washed out a few years ago and isn't as easily accessible but is a beautiful area if you have the right shoes and are adventurous. Nice views of the gorge, wonderful rock formations and for a little while longer great views of the dam and waterfall ( until it is removed)

By we4singalto |

This park is inside the city limits of Cuyahoga Falls, and it is a great place if you want to picnic, take a hike in the woods, see some history at Mary's Cave, and look at some waterfalls, (manmade and natural). Several trails are available to hike, with easy to moderate difficulty. You are out in nature, but right in the city, with shopping, restaurants tc., less than a mile away! Spent a couple of hours hiking and taking pictures, and then finished it off with lunch downtown! Some of the more difficult trails would not be appropriate for small children however.
A lot of people were actually walking their dogs on the moderate trail!

By Dillon G |

Absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous waterfalls and caves. Great for teenagers and adults, would not recommend bringing small children. This is also where my grandparents first met.

By Anita G |

The Gorge metro park provides scenic views along the Cuyahoga river. The well posted trail map enables you to pick a trail to suit your ability. We saw people of all ages on the trail. The gorge has interesting rock formations. There is an historic cave as well as views of the dam if you go on the lower trail.
Clean restrooms, and plenty of parking. Free, your tax dollars at work, enjoy it!

By RSMower |

Enjoyable visit. Relatively easy trails - need to be able to climb stairs if you want to get close to the falls.

Enjoyed visiting the Mary Campbell cave too.

Disappointed by the trash. It wasn't terrible and I understand you can't pay someone to "police" it 24-7 so I'm really disappointed that visitors can't throw their own trash away!

Biggest negative? The outhouse - the smell was terrible and you could smell it within 5 feet

By mike b |

love this park, close to everything right off rt 8. north of akron. we go here a couple times a year never get tired of it , been going here since I was a kid now im 60. you get right up to the base of the dam, the best time to go is after a strong rain, sounds like thunder , its great! then you make this big loop to the top of the hill with the gorge view and the cave site, the paths are not for the weak , this is a great place to really wear out the kids, you can walk along the main path and the kids can find all kinds of side paths but you can still see them, even teens love it and you know how they can be ??? I highly recommend if you never been, take the dogs too, we do.SEE YOU THERE

By closch7 |

We walked on the west side, Highbridge Trail, under the electric towers and lines. Not sure where other reviewers were hiking.
Our views of the waterfall by the dam were blocked by thick trees. Once we were past the high bridge the wires were gone leaving a nice easy walk with the sound of water over rapids.
It was a 1.5 mile walk to the stairways leading to the lower path by the water. Very pretty.

By cenzt |

Good trip. We arrived at approximately 6 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the trail. We opted to hike the Cuyahoga River Gorge Trail which was a roughly 1.9 mile loop trail around the park. The trail was moderate in nature and consisted of walking on a gravel surface for a majority of the walk. There were several sections of steep incline/decline, along with a ton of tree roots that we had to navigate across. The trail took us through the forest and we were able to enjoy scenic views of the dam and Cuyahoga River. There were several steep staircases located alongside the river.

Tip: I recommend spending 1.5 hours here if you truly want to see everything.

By Kimberly L |

Got some good pics....took some of the trails and has a great day! Well maintained paths....restrooms available, water fountains and even a random faucet on the path for pets.

By Allie816 |

Great hiking! Great view of falls. Can make them as tough or easy as you like. Just beware, there are a ton of steps to get to the falls.

By glt888 |

From the grazing deer that greeted us as we entered the park to the rushing water flowing over the dam, this park is beautiful. The trails provide a peaceful walk in nature. A great family adventure.

By Cliffhanger1954 |

There are waterfalls and trails, Mary Campbells Indian cave, a beautiful river, this park has so much to offer! You can spend a lovely afternoon just enjoying nature...and there is no cost involved....how can you beat that!
Be sure to bring a camera and some good shoes, some of the trails go for 3 miles, but the accesss is not too bad...boardwalks and stairs to the base of the falls.
Pic nic areas and grills. Just a good time outdoors

By The C |

Beautiful park. It has always been clean and there are a few grassy fields to kick a soccer ball, throw a frisby, etc. The hiking trails are kept up very nicely.

By Jim G |

The Gorge Metro Park has three trails - the Gorge Trail, the Glenn Trail and the near by Highbridge Trail. I find the Gorge Trail the most interesting with vistas of the Cuyahoga River, the dam, small ledges and Mary Cambell Cave. While this trail is the most rugged of the three, I find it the most interesting. See you on the trail.

By FarmFoodFriend |

A great place for a walk or hike. If you love water, you won't want to miss this park. The trail makes a loop just under 2 miles long. One of the best hikes I've been on in Ohio!

By modlifer |

Beauty near the city. Trails for all skill levels. Gorgeous scenery and you never know what type of wildlife will pop up. Swenson's and plenty of other dining is nearby. I have been visiting for years and always notice something new. A real treasure.

By Delores H |

Trails for everyone. Views of the river, rock ledges, & a spillway. We often see deer when hiking the trails

By StarkDiets |

Beautiful day for a hike. Wait...it was raining this evening! And it was muddy, and wet. Oh, ye have little faith! This trail is covered with trees that act as coverage and the trails aren't bad with boards over wet terrain. The falls are a roaring lion right now, too. Yeah!! Tress are still amazing with their fall colors, but, wait for it...there is construction between Mary Campbell Cave and the easy/difficult trail. Evidently you can't walk thru to the other side where the street meets the other side of the trail "U". Bummer. Enjoy the pics!

By Christi K |

What a beautiful park with several trails. The waterfall is stunning!
It's quite rocky in areas so wear proper shoes.
There are a few set of steps so be prepared for a good workout.
You won't be disappointed with the views.

By mizkim1111 |

This is a beautiful park to go hiking in. Felt very safe hiking alone. A vreat place to get out and enjoy nature

By LsDano2 |

This is a great, scenic hike close to downtown. The trails are well-worn and a little steep in some places but most people should be able to find a trail that suits their adventure threshold.

By sue r |

Hadn't been there in a while. New large fishing pier. Steps down to the Falls. Can no longer walk across the river. Shelter not too far from the parking lot. Restrooms close to parking lot. Some of the trails are not super stable. Flip flops are probably not a good idea! Mary Campbell's Kitchen is still there with the history posted on a rock. Makes a good walk. Probably not a good place for small children.

By AprilShowers89 |

This park is rugged which is great for those who like more nature in the parks. It is very shaded so great during the hot weather. Wear good shoes and have a fun time!

By karen c |

Trail to cave was closed. Had to climb hill. Paved in areas. Good for dog walking. Very pretty no matter the time of year.

By VEC24 |

I stopped here to see the Cuyahoga River. I got more than I expected as water was rushing over the dam. The hiking trails are conveniently marked near the parking lot with round-trip distances. This helped me decide how much I wanted to undertake for a quick stop.
There are plenty of picnic tables near the parking lot, and they seemed to all be in use. It was a gorgeous summer day and the hike to the area below the dam was refreshing, probably because it was almost all downhill and in the shade. I'll be back in the future with my kayak.

Akron Metro parks are wonderful green space where families can enjoy mother nature without the WIFI and cell phone constantly drawing our attention. Gift to ourselves

By Doc D |

It's a great place to visit. Take a loop äround and get some exercise. The actual water falls area is a welcome site to feel the cool breezes amongst the pines and tree's.
Enjoy a free walk in the park.

By Emily W |

We visited in June 2019, and we’ve received a TON of rain this year! The Falls were roaring!! Definitely glad we drove out of the way to check it out! I only took a video, no pics! Sorry!!

By Jennifer F |

This is a location that the city keeps up with. Trails are cleared and tended to frequently. There are steps and wooden decks to assist your experience viewing the waterfall. This is a favorite place for hikes and picnics!

By wade a |

Good views of waterfall and lake and a couple miles of wooded buggy trails.... a few areas of good rock formations and some elevation changes but not a real difficult hike.. if in the area with extra time worth checking out

By Frederik B |

This is the ideal buffer between Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. Great for dog walks or runs. The Mary Coldwell cave (or whatever it's called) is nice from an historical perspective, but nothing much to see. Mostly busy with people taking a stroll. Having a look at the water fall near the dam is really nice!

By Paul S |

Cuyahoga Falls, the city's namesake falls, are now mostly missing. The remaining undammed portion of the upper falls is blocked by an expressway on one one side and a hotel on the other. The lower falls are dammed and drowned except for a 15 foot or so section that still flows free just below the dam in Gorge Metro Park. The loop Gorge trail is currently closed at the cave where a young Irish girl was held captive by the Delaware Indians so you have to either turn around there and go back or go down the hill to other side ot the loop below the dam and falls. You can follow that portion of the loop trail until you reach the other end of the closed section at the rock passes where you have to retrace your steps. The parking lot and trails were crowded on a weekend afternoon but eceryone behaved themselves except for one moron who had two dogs off leash that were running all over the place. The upper (cave) portion of the trail is not paved but is level and smoooth and fine for strollers or wheelchairs. The lower portion is paved as far as the fishing dock.so also accessible that far. Beyond that point, there are about a hundred wood steps down to the base of the dam/falls and the trail from there is rough dirt with rocks and roots.

Been going to the Gorge for 65 years. Great trails and close to home. Brings back wonderful memories.

By Kerstine F |

I only got to visit here for a few minutes last summer. This was a frequent haunt of mine when I was a kid growing up in Akron, so on a trip back to visit family, I decided to swing by. All the wonderful memories came flooding back. It is a fabulous park, great hiking trails.

By snpkelley |

We love to come here and hike. It is hard to believe you are in the city. It is beautiful and always a fun hike for the kids.

By Christine B |

There are some really great trails here. Some are easier than others. There is a lot to see as well- the river, a man-made waterfall, and a cave. The only downside is that it sometimes stinks of sewage. It really takes away from the park.

By Marisa C |

The Gorge trails are a great way to workout while you enjoy beautiful scenery. Bring a friend and have some fun.

By Diane B |

This park has several places to park with trail heads. Some trails are easier and shorter than others.
The Gorge trail is 1.8 miles and takes you to the Mary Campbell Cave. The high bridge trail is longer at 3.2 miles. It follows the power line right of way and takes you high above the river on the opposite side (not as scenic as the other trails in my opinion).

Suddenly coming upon the 300+ year old Signal Tree was a treat. Soccer fields and restrooms are nearby that tree.

Plenty of picnic sites with grills and trash cans are available near the water’s edge.

These trails are for more experienced hikers, but well worth the effort. They parallel the Cuyahoga River and offer scenic vistas in any season. On the far end of Highbridge Trail is Cascade Valley Metro Park, my personal favorite. Presently, the dam on the river is still in place, but there is talk of it's removal.

One of my favorite metro parks in the area. Love the trail. Great for all ages and open all year. Highly recommend!

We walked from the parking lot to the falls... easy walk and pretty view. Then we took the Gorge trail... ew! It must follow a sewer line because every hundred yards or so there was a nauseating sewer odor! Plus, a portion of the trail is closed, meaning it is not a loop. This was a disappointment.

Gorge Metro Park offers spectacular views of the Cuyahoga River, along with great hiking trails and rock formations. Picnic tables and small picnic lodges are available. A great place for the entire family. There is a fishing dock that is handicapped accessible.

Easy to find park, right off 8, has nice clean restrooms. Trail is loop, walk to high part and then take the lower trail back along the river/dam. excellent views, upper trail moderately rough, lower easy gravel.

Visit this place made me feel close to the nature. I always ride a bike by there with couple friends, and we got lost once. It`s a good place to visit.
