We've always enjoyed Historic Leesburg, for its small-town atmosphere, its eateries, the Civil War history, the special events, and the role that it took in rebuilding Europe after WWII.
This is a great way to spend a day.

Historic downtown Lessburg is a beautiful area to visit. You really get a chance to see the older buildings that have been around for many years. Walking around, there are many little stores, shops and restaurants to stop in. If you are visiting northern Virginia, I would definetly take a visit to the downtown area and spend at least a few hours.

Leesburg is a very nice place to visit -- it gives you an historic district, outlet mall, plenty of shops and restaurants. One of the best areas of Northern Virginia.

The historic district is nice. I was hoping for more shops versus food. The landscaping was lovely and the building beautiful.

The town of Leesburg is a lovely place to spend an afternoon. The restaurant choices are wonderful and the unique shops make this a great destination.

Leesburg is a very historic little town, Visit the Leesburg Museum to start then meander through the several streets going in and out of the myriad of antique shops, restaurants and retail shops. Remember to look up at the architecture especially at the corner of King and Market Streets. Remember our First Friday Celebrations each month when all the shops stay open till 9pm and there is lively musical entertainment going on all over town.

Uneven sidewalk so take care if you are not steady. Found several old cemeteries, churches and houses to enjoy seeing. On this 10ish Sunday morning we found street parking. Later on the shops and galleries were open.

We spent a week here with our son, wife, and 3 grandchildren. Walked in the historic district every day and enjoyed all of the old houses, cemeteries, and businesses. Felt like we were back in time when walking through all this history. Too many great restaurants for one week even though we tried at least one every day. Brew pubs and every kind of food you could possibly want are likely to be found in the historic downtown. They should be proud of the great job they have done preserving the past for future generations and making it such an enjoyable place to spend time.

Downtown Leesburg is a great place to walk around and take in all the various shops and restaurants. They have shops for almost everyone. Parking on the street can be a challenge but they do have a parking garage.

Had lunch here and walked around. Nice small town feel with many shops. Will likely spend a night here next time to go a little slower.

Neat historical town in North Western Virginia. Lots of old historical buildings. Bike/walking path goes all the way to DC. Many restaurants and places to visit. If in the area you must stop for at least a walking tour.

Downtown Leesburg is perfect for an afternoon out! The streetscape is historic and charming. The sidewalks brick. It offers a number of excellent restaurants and a nice selection of shops. If happy hour is your thing, there are many options; Lightfoot, King Street Oyster Bar, and Sidebar to name a few.

We enjoyed strolling around the historic district of Leesburg. We enjoyed the candy shop, Mocatina's, located across from the court house. They offered candy, baked goods, ice cream and cotton candy. They also had a variety of unique gift items for purchase. One street parking only, or use the public parking garage (which is free evenings and weekends).

I was part of a small group that just wanted to explore the area. We parked in the Parking Garage for free since it was a Saturday. We were told that on Saturday and Sunday, the parking is free. What a plus for us tourists. We checked out some historic buildings. Then we stopped at a big sewing shop that our quilter friend was very interested in.

We spent a few hours, walked the cute streets and grabbed something to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed the bookstore, could have spent hours there. The antique shops were fun to walk through. Very clean and free parking on the weekend is nice.
However, I've never visited an area where so many places have "no public restroom" signs. This really bothers me, as someone with ulcerative colitis there are times I don't have time to run place to place asking to use a restroom. Currently I'm in remission but if things were different I would have not stayed here as long. I was shocked at how many places had those signs.

I might be bias since I live in the historic district, but it's a sweet place to visit or take a stroll. They have charming, local boutiques and many antiques shops. You have a wide range of local fare to choose from the many restaurants that we have in town. The best time to enjoy Leesburg is during First Fridays where you will find lots of locals enjoying the many entertainment and activities in town. The Flower and Garden show in April is a must see. Their Hallowe'en parade is also the best around.

On a beautiful autumn Sunday, headed to Leesburg where I was surprise by all the restaurants, cafes and breweries in a small walking vicinity with outdoor seating and patios with some being in a converted house. There is lots to chose from for restaurants and local breweries. This was my first time and it looking forward to return visits for weekend lunches.

We enjoyed an authentic Belgian beer at Delirium, lunch at Side Bar, followed by a yummy Belgian chocolate treat.

Lots of places to drink, dine and shop in this historic downtown. Make sure to walk a wide radius for all the goodies including historic cemeteries (i.e., 1766!)

This is my favorite old downtown in the DC area. There are a wide variety of restaurants and shops; definitely something for everyone. They have convenient parking and the city is very walkable.

Downtown has that colonial feel with a modern vibe! Historic buildings house a huge variety of restaurants! Black Shutter Antiques is the only antique shop left though! The bonus in the summer months are the Friday nights full of music on the greens. And, it's free! Bring a chair or there are a few benches set about! Don Chapman & Friends were there to sing the night away! The only draw back was the rudeness of people who chose to blab instead of listening to the music!

Leesburg is a quaint little town. Good for walking about the main streets and checking out the shops and restaurants.

Nice area to walk around in. Plenty of shops, restaurants and breweries to enjoy along the way, Nice locals willing to chat.

Very nice here in Leesburg. plenty to see and the food is great. Lot's to see and take in with a good walk about though downtown.

It is fun to take in some of the old towns around, and Virginia has plenty. Some rank Leesburg, next behind Olde Towne.
Best to see for yourself. Drive by and talk a nice walk through town.

Visited here during a stay in DC. Wanted get out of the DC area itself, and chose to go into the VA countryside for a day trip using Leesburg as the turn around point. Trip from downtown DC, with minimal traffic, took under an hour. Some good historic architecture, and some interesting shops — particularly the antique shops which seemed to thrive. Worth a day trip

Leesburg is probably the biggest city in Loudoun County, but the downtown area has a very small town feel. There are historic buildings mixed in with slightly newer ones. Many of the buildings have plaques with dates and if you are lucky a little information about the original purpose/owner of the building. The Loudoun County Museum will help you put things in perspective, but visiting the shops and restaurants which are mainly in converted homes gives you the best feel for the town.

Leesburg proper is a delightfulk little town, with an abundance of places to browse, drink, and eat.

For the most part, the historical District of Leesburg holds it's quaint feel though suburbia encroaches all around it. Was here to visit mw 6th Grt. Grandfathers Plantation just outside Waterford he built in 1753.

Spend an afternoon exploring the quaint town of Leesburg, VA. Lots of cute shops and loads of resturants to enjoy! Parking is no problem as there is public garage right in town.

Downtown Leesburg is a charming walk through history with small shops and eateries, and you can even get your palm read! Visit an old cemetery and war museum. Must stop at Very Virginia gift shop! The owner is super helpful and has a lot of quality things whether you live in Virginia or a visitor. The Virginia peanuts come in a variety of flavors and the freshest I’ve ever tasted. Overall, Downtown Leesburg is a hidden gem and a must see!

Drove to Leesburg based upon recommendation of a merchant in Middleburg. Does not appear that any true antiques shops remain.
Your best bet is to park in the municipal lot, which doesn’t charge for the first two hours, and go walk around.
Historic downtown area seems more geared to the college crowd.

Great place to enjoy great food, drinks and learn about the history of the area. Parking is controlled and not great, so give yourself extra time!

Leesburg Virginia is a quaint historical town with many shops and restaurants of which many of the businesses are located in older structures built in the 18th and 19th centuries. This town is wonderful for a 1-day trip or for a stop over for those passing through.

Leesburg is a great town to visit!!! Many shops, antique stores to browse &/or buy, restaurants, old churches, and very scenic!!

Town was cute and the employees of the stores and restaurants were very friendly and helpful. Free parking on the weekend was an added bonus

We spent a short time in downtown of two recent trips and were pleased to be able to view the history, shop and dine! Wish we had had more time to just walk in the town but hopefully next time! Take a few moments and relax in history! Enjoy!

Downtown has some great shops for just about everyone. I also really like many of the restaurants. There are some great sweet shops too. The nice weekends can get a little busy but most folks are friendly and it can be a great time out for all ages.

One of my favorite attractions in Leesburg is the Marshall House. General Marshall's life and times is presented in his retirement home and his accomplishments as a citizen of the US are amazing. Bring the children of all ages and learn what service to your country really looks like.

If you like the quaint historic atmosphere of older towns, that's what you have here. Narry sidewalks, but plenty for an afternoon. There are shops (mainly antique types, but there is art to see, as well), a little museum of local history, an old movie theater (still in operation), a hobby place, an old historic courthouse (the one the county still uses). There is a wine shop (yes, it carries Virginia wines, as well).

Stopped in for lunch and walked around afterwords. You can feel the history on the streets. Wonderful town and friendly folks

We had spent some time shopping at the outlets and decided to checkout the historic area of Leesburg in hopes of finding boutique shopping. We were pretty disappointed in the shopping, but enjoyed the beautiful historic area. There are lots of restaurants in the area, but most didn't seem to be open. We were there early afternoon.

Leesburg has it all! Great shops for antiques. wine, etc., as well as AWESOME restaurants. All of this is set in a terrific historical setting. They've been "doing it right" in Leesburg since 1758. If you like good food and quaint, historical towns, you'll love Leesburg!

We were in Leesburg for a conference but took some time to visit the charming town. Even though the buildings were old they were, for the most part well kept and gave you the sense of having been transported to an earlier era.

The area is historical in nature, the few shops are "one of a kind" with one antique store remaining. Many of the shops have been replaced by breweries and wine tasting bars. If this is what you're looking for, you'll be in the right place.

Take a trip through one of the oldest places in northern Virginia. Numerous historical figures have been to Leesburg and the area is RICH in local and national history.

The best time is during spring & summer, around the place you can fine good restaurants, and the people are very nice.

A lovely little old town with great shops (at least the historic old part) Don’t miss Mom’s Apple Pie shop.Had a great chef’s salad at the town diner.

Lots to do whether you just wander or go in and out of every place. Easy to spend an entire day here like that. Very enjoyable to explore. Beautiful old architecture with lots of history to learn about. Don't miss George C. Marshall's home up on the hill!

Downtown Leesburg is filled with historic houses, Courthouse and good local shops and restaurants. Its great to go strolling in and out of the shops and restaurants on a nice afternoon.

The town has so much history and so many beautiful buildings, homes and gardens. Worth taking a nice Saturday or Sunday to explore all the side streets and pop in to a cafe for lunch.

We walked around a bit, and ate dinner. We wished there would have been more stores to visit, though.

Nice area to walk in. There are cute shops and good eating places. We are tending to go to places that are Pokémon Go friendly and this is one. There are lots of pokestops for the kids and adult stuff for the adults. Really enjoyable on nice sunny days

We visited the historic town of Leesburg on a Saturday afternoon. There were a number of parking garages right in the town. There were a lot of restaurants and bars. I was surprised there weren't a lot of stores in the historic district. I would highly recommend going to see the General George Marshall house that is in town. We also enjoyed spending several hours at the Oatlands Historic House and Gardens. Leesburg is a nice place to visit over a couple of days.

Lovely historic district with cute shops and restaurants. Nice counterpoint to rest of the Leesburg area, and not far from Morten Park and Raspberry Falls. Parking available in garages, or metered parking back in alleys. Just park where you can find a spot and wander. Residential portion also nice to walk around if you enjoy older homes.

I spent a couple of hours in the downtown area during my recent visit to Leesburg. Very picturesque and lots of small shops to choose from. Has the feel of the old South!

Leesburg has changed a lot in the 20 years we've lived here but downtown's only gotten better. It would be a traffic nightmare but would benefit greatly from closing the main road off to auto traffic and I hope they will do so some day. The increasing number of solid good restaurants only makes it better. The architecture, the shops and food make is a must see of old Virginia as it used to be.

We tried to follow the signs to the visitor center, but missed it somehow. Lots of restaurants and shops. Went on to Oatllands

This is a lovely town located 33 miles north west of Washington, DC. It has many old homes and great restaurants to visit.

Nice old downtown, probably hasn't changed in a century or two. Plenty of place to eat and visit. Go for it.

If you are looking for a place to park and walk around, with a verity of Restaurants and unique Shops, this place will do you well. There are a lot of different and very good restaurants in Leesburg that will offer you great Pizza, (Fire Works) Hot Dogs (Windy City) or Fine Dining (Tuskie's or Lightfoot), just to name a few. And if you want to find antiques or a great bottle of wine, just walk the streets and you'll find it. Enjoy a trip there.

Historic Leesburg is a great place to strool the old streets and grad a bite to eat at the many and various places to eat. Love Tusky's and old mill. then there is the Leesburg Restaurant and old diner..yummy REAL milk shakes Lightfoot is in the old bank and has lots of character. Great antique center in the middle of town. The George Marshall House is near by..close to Mom's Apple Pie's..they have a wide selection not just apple. Try the Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies yummy

Historic downtown Leesburg is a wonderful place to visit. There are many shops and restaurants. The courthouse is also here. There is adequate parking between the two parking decks and other lots. It is good for walking.

Take a walking tour on your own in old historic downtown Leesburg. Go at your own pace and check out all the very old buildings, many with historical significance. There are also many, many little shops to visit, some with things you may not have seen before. Then when you get hungry, there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Enjoyable experience.

Charming small town. We drove around listening to an audio tour of Leesburg's history. Grateful that we found that link for a rainy day. Parking is a challenge. We did enjoy the tour at Dodona Manor.

This is a very cute and small town. It has a lot of interesting places to eat and shop though. It has a churrror shop and a donut shop which you should stop and see plus and awesome dinner Leesburg dinner for some lunch breakfast or just food. And the sights you see with the housings and other buildings are great

This was a great little afternoon trip for my husband and me. I've been meaning to come out to Leesburg for a while, and it did not disappoint. It's adorable, and I will definitely return to learn more!

We live nearby and love going to old town Leesburg. Its not very big, but it is very quaint and there are many nice and unique restaurants in this small old town. There is also an old movie theater and in April, there is a Flower and Garden show that closes down all the old town streets to pedestrians and vendors. Great old town to visit!

Historic d owntown Leesburg is a very nice lifely are of the city blended in well with new building and life. So, it is not just for show. The town is the seat of the county so the historic downtown has so much to shows, old buildings, CIVIL war landmarks, restaurants and shopping. The most plus is, there are a few city run park that allow you to park 2 hours for free and one dollar/hour after that. Park you car and walk and see things. Great town to visit. Only one hour drive from DC.

I love in Leesburg and love the downtown. They have lots of unique shops and recently added sidewalk seating. Check it out!

Downtown Leesburg is fun to walk around just looking at the buildings, but there is so much more to do with shops, restaurants, wine bars, etc.

Always a must see if in area, Residents of sub burbs visit frequently. Shops and restaurants situated in historic houses,

We absolutely love Leesburg. We lived here 10 years ago and transferred to Naples, FL. I must say that people would think we’re crazy to leave Naples for Leesburg, but we did and are glad we did. So close to the nations capital, but live in a quiet (not so much) Village. Still the beauty and charm and history of this beautiful town is a dream. History, culture, food and charm make this Civil War town proud to be called home.

Walking the sidewalks of Downtown Leesburg does not disappoint! Fun little antique shops, great restaurants, even thrift shops. Something for everyone to enjoy. Little kids can run around the garden area that is right behind the Tally-Ho Theatre.

My daughter just moved to Leesburg in 2020 and we love visiting and walking around downtown. Cute shops and several restaurants and coffee shops to choose from. Very quaint and I could see that in the nice weather the outdoor dining options would be nice. Shop owners are friendly and it is a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Downtown Leesburg is quaint and worth a few hours to walk around and check out the shops, antique stores and restaurants!

Leesburg does a great job of keeping the old town alive. Great restaurants and brew pubs. Attractions like Tally Ho and the escape room. Make sure you mark it on your calendar and visit downtown for First Friday every month.

This is a charming town with many carefully preserved old buildings. There are several self-guided walking tours available online which guide and explain parts of the town. Enjoy!
We took out of town friends here to expose them to the lovely town of Leesburg. Street parking is hard to get on a Friday, so we parked in the free municipal garage. We had a fantastic lunch at Lightfoot. There are also many lower priced options to eat in town. Unfortunately, the stores are not very varied. Lots of antique stores on the Main Street and one kind of seedy corner store selling unmentionables. I wish there had been more than one store featuring art and interesting things to purchase.
