1 of 35 Best Attractions in Carrollton

Historic Downtown Carrollton is one of my favorite places to go as I live pretty close by. For visitors, it is very accessible and is just off an exit of I-35. It is a "town square" with shops on 3 sides of the square; small area but nice. Finishing Touch, the antique shop is fun to shop as is Ten of Arts. Several new shops have opened which are great too. For eating - be sure to visit Babe's Chicken or Agave Azul.

I love all of the events that merchants get together and share in. Ten or Arts has Chocolate night. I shop at the small shops because some of them only order 3 to 4 size of an item so its not the same clothes that you buy at Target and you see everywhere. Concerts on the square and the festivals are always fun.

It's great to see a small square boast such cute businesses. A large gazebo centers the square for special events, or a nice place to hang out. Very close to DART, it's an easy place to drop in for a quick visit. Fine restaurants grace the streets, and parking is free. You may have to park near the freeway a block away, but it's worth the walk.

Need some more fun boutiques around the square. We had a beautiful day to walk around. A few interesting shops - but couldn't believe how many were closed on a Friday afternoon.

Nice for a quick stop and lunch. Some really cute boutiques and antique stores. We heard they often have music too.

Aside from Agave Azul & Babe's Chicken, there is zero reason to visit Downtown Carrollton. Typical antique shop, candy store, blah.

Great place for events. Candy store, wind tasting, restaurants, Babes's Chicken, and scheduled programs.

It was such fun to visit the shops and meet people during the Chocolate Walk. Chocolate treats and sips of wine were great pick-me-ups for shopping.

If you are looking for old time town square this is it. Great restaurants, shops, salons and more. You can't go wrong.

Spent a Sunday afternoon at there Indian Festival enjoyed the native dancing and crafts. Some of the stores were open. Very clean town.

We are new to the area and wanted to check out the local spot so we know where to take friends and family when they come visit. My husband and I stopped by historic downtown Carrollton and were pretty disappointed. There are a few shops and one large old antique store. Don't waste your time with this one.

Reminds me of back when we didn't rush to get around.Right off I 35E you have a town square with nice small shop shopping along with plan is to eat. Ample parking. Very relaxing.

They have a festival in the Downtown Historic Carollton that is fun for the whole family. All of the stores open up for this festival and is a lot of fun.

We went to an event that featured an art show...except that their was no art show. The event consisted of vendors selling their products such as windows etc. There are a few restaurants and shops, but nothing to recommend. If you want a great experience, go to Grapevine!

But pretty small. That being said it is easy to navigate and everyone welcomes you with open arms. It's cool to visit in the evening cause its kind of pretty but not tons to do. I wouldn't make a special trip here but since I was in the area I stopped in for dinner....

Nice to stop and walk around , surprisingly this little town has a lot of history. doesn't take long but is worth the stop

Old fashioned candy store, ice cream parlor, antique store and several non-chain restaurants to include one that serves bottomless Mamosa's with a tequila bar. What a cool place to spend a summer evening. The gazebo in the center with old glory proudly flying, reminds one of a simpler time in America.

Conveniently located, accessible parking, nice range of places to eat. The middle of the square is perfect for outside music or entertainment :-)

If you have not taken the opportunity to wander around the square in old Downtown Carrollton, do so...the explosion of new restaurants and shops is amazing. Babes anchors the spot, but trendy (in a good way) restaurants are popping up on what seems to be a daily basis. Cane Rosso, Twisted Root, and a noodle place with Monkey in the name too...yum!

This area has gotten better, since the Dart train came to town. The whole plaza area has been spruced up with trees, plants, a couple of fountains, and even bistro tables and chairs! A gazebo, a big antique store, clothes and accessories boutiques, spa and massage place, ice cream shop, fabric and crafts store, gift stores, and at least 6 places to eat!! Babe's, Agave Azul, Amici, World of Cooking, Po'Boys, Twisted Root, (out of the plaza area), a coffee place and more. Good for families, couples, teens, friends. Come and spend some time in downtown Carrollton, take the train to Denton and back. Enjoy!

Renovations of the Historic Downtown have been completed. Great restaurants and antique mall located on the square. Choices from pizza, salads, chicken, hamburgers and Italian. All are great eating. Enjoy the walk around the square before or after your meal. Right on the Green Dart Train line and you don't even have cross the street. There is a crossover that leads to the downtown..

It's cool if you live there. New restaurants. They are all ok. The pizza place is the best. All the roads and highways are being updated. They have events and concerts.

Downtown Carrollton is a nice place to go. It has several little unique shops to look in and places to eat. During the year there are special events like the chocolate walk and holiday events. My friend and I have been there several times and always enjoy ourselves. They also have a pretty gazebo and entertainment area. Worth stopping by for sure!

This area has been revitalized with downtown parking garages, access to the DART green line and new downtown apartments. If the old crummy apartments nearby were demolished, this place would probably be hoppin'!

Parked in front of one of the stores in the Historic Downtown area. Saw a man laid out on one of the nice benches they have all around the square. Smelly man had his stuffed suitcase laid out on sidewalk in a way to take up as much sidewalk space as possible as he took a nap. We walked into store looked around and then mentioned to clerk if she knew there was a man sleeping on the bench in front of store. At first she behaved as if she did not know. As we continued to chat she admitted that he is there all the time and that he had some mental issues. She said sometimes he gets off his meds because he does not like how meds make him feel and he gets into arguments. She felt sorry for him and I do too, but this is not the place for him. Told her we would not be taking a risk again. Not coming back to shop and eat there. As we drove away, we saw five more homeless that appeared to be coming from the train on way towards the square. Had we stayed around we would have been outnumbered by homeless and their carts, suitcases full of junk in the square. Soon enough people will completely stop coming to shop/eat.
Just read news about homeless man in NYC that severely beat a woman with his belt.

It might be "Historic" but this is definitely a meh. If you want to see a neat downtown in the area then go to McKinley. That downtown is great. This one is a let down. The proximity to the DART stop is nice.

good shopping places here if you have sometime to kill stop by the kiosko god place to take pictures

Great town square with interesting shops and a good selection of restaurants. The merchants association also has a variety of events that are fun for all during the year.

lots of events so check the calendar. Great local shops to check out. Lots of restaurants. What newer cities are trying to create (Southlake) and we have. Some buildings totally restored, some with great wrong in charm and some very vintage. Something for everyone in the family

After dinner we took a stroll around old Downtown Carrollton. There are a lot of fun shops to browse. We had a very nice walk and felt like we were back in time. This was a good way to burn off some calories and relax.

There is a lot here on the Square. Many places to Eat. Antiques. Clothing and Jewelry. Great quality of the clothing. Prices are too high for me. I did not buy anything. Its a great place to visit,or just to Browse.

We visited downtown Carrollton on a spring-like day in February, and found it to be very pretty. There is a nice gazebo in the center of the town square. While the city touts this as historic downtown, it is not a National Historic District, nor are any of the buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s more of an attempted quaint setting for a shopping district. The buildings do appear to be old, but are in very good condition. They have either been maintained well over the years or have been restored. I’m not really into shopping, and only two shops intrigued me enough to lure me inside: a vintage clothing store, and a store specializing in retro and novelty candy and soda. I found them both to be overpriced, even compared with similar shopping districts I’ve visited.

nice walk-around place after a huge meal at Babe's or Agave Azul...feels homey, friendly, and it well-maintained.

We enjoy coming to this area of Carrollton. The antique shop is so neat to visit. Brings back many childhood memories. My daughter loves the rock shop. We have enjoyed eating at Babes on other trips over. This area really makes a nice Saturday outing.

The area was very picturesque and inviting. There are several historical pictures and markers in the square. Clean, family friendly and pleasant.

The downtown area is currently undergoing some renovations, which limits parking a bit, but hopefully the results will add even more parking. We have been coming here for years and have sampled almost all the restaurants, which are almost all locally owned. Both of my kids have a favorite restaurant that has become a favorite birthday spot. Also, though we are not "into" antiques, the shops here are fine to browse because they are not busy or fussy or over-priced. They don't follow my kids for fear that they will break something, but they let us look and enjoy. Carrollton's downtown isn't as big or fancy as that of some neighboring communities, but it is authentic and inviting, and the DART rail now makes it a great lunchtime stop or a jumping off point to explore other parts o Dallas.

Plenty of restaurants. Nice to stroll back in time. It was an easy walk and the old buildings are very interesting, including the street lamps.

Great nostalgic downtown square. Good restaurants. Little shops. Gazebo. Old original downtown movie theater.

Downtown is small cozy place to visit. With movie theater, antiques, restaurants within walking distance and cool retro Candy store.
You could spend half day down there checking things out and there usually bare some interesting nothing's being done on the center green/gazebo. From fashion shows, music concerts or other themed seasonal family event.
It's worth a trip. I go each time I visit for antiques shopping, for the nostalgia candy and grabbing a bite to eat.

There are several good restaurants in the area and several fun hole in the wall shops. There's candy store, an awsome fabric store that has a wonderful selections of quilting and clothing fabrics, some clothing shops, jewelers with beautiful things and a great shop owners.

We visited old downtown Carrollton this weekend and it is an amazing place....old time candy store, antique shops, entertainment, and every kind of cuisine you could possibly ask for. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. I highly recomend this for a family afternoon or evening out!

After many years visiting Carrollton Dallas I finally get a chance to go to the town centre. I loved it, there is great bars shopping and eating places. Great area for local talent and artists. It had a lovely feeling at night when all lit up with lighting. Loved it

Easy to get to-right off Interstate 35, very good selection of restaurants, a great candy store, some random shopping, and a wonderful antique mall.

We love visiting the shops and walking around. There is a little something for all - although I will say, the square is geared more towards women and kids (:

If you like historic downtown areas, Carrollton's is pretty nice. There is a large Gazeebo in the center of the square which really makes it feel like an old time town. There are shops, and restaurants so there is enough to keep you busy. Best of all there is a Babe's Restaurant which is the best for a family meal.

Visit the fabric store to find a wonderful selection of materials to choose from. Browse to find clothing shops with jewelry to purchase and show to friends. You get a feel for the history of Carrollton as you walk the streets. Every shop owner greets you with a Texas sized smile. There's also great places to get a delicious hamburger.

This is a great place to go for dinner, with Babe's Chicken just off the square. Also, check out C Square Cafe for coffee in the morning. None better!

This place is adorable. It is like a Texas version of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls complete with a gazebo and everything. I loved walking around here and checking out the shops. Everyone was so incredible friendly!

The area is great on a nice day for strolling. You can sit and dine or snack on the go. The great mom and pop shops offer unique browsing and window shopping but beware, they sometimes close in the middle of the day w/o notice.
Parking is decent and they host fun events in the spring/summer that are always staffed by Carrollton police and well organized.

A very rustic pocket area within a busy metroplex where you can still see some of the old town atmosphere. Good food in local restaurants. Look at the schedule and there are free concerts etc.

Great restaurants, Babes, Agave mexican and twisted root burgers. Interesting little local shops and antiques and a Dart rail station.

Carrollton Town Square is definitely the neatest and most interesting part of Carrollton, TX but nothing one needs to go out of one's way for either. It features a number of antique and other knick knack stores as well as a few restaurants. Personal favorite is Babe's with the best-ever mashed potatoes. It is worth visiting mostly when there is a festival going on such as the Carrollton Switchyard Festival in the fall. Then there will be live music, food and some other entertainment, and the temperatures are usually more bearable than in the summer.
It can be conveniently reached by DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transportation) - the train station is just across the street from the square, which is a definite plus because parking is limited down there.

Old Carrolton is really developing into a new hot spot. The little town square is surrounded by restaurants and it definitely feels like old town USA.

A trip back in time. Looks like an old time city square.
Nice restaurants although a bit over-priced.

There is a lot that goes on at the square, there are concerts, movies markets and a lot more. They sometimes will have local brewries set up around the square.

The city has invested a lot of money and effort in renovating the old city of Carrollton. The square is quite often the center of events, like outdoor movies. The buildings have been restored and the some of the best restaurants in Carrollton are located here. When you finish eating, a stroll around the old shops are an excellent way to work off the excess food.

Historic fassades, antique shops and good food. Lots of city events throughout the year and open air movies in the summer. Spa, candy store, quilting store to name but a view. Babe's chicken is not to be missed! Easily accessible by DART station nearby and plenty of parking. Highly recommend!

Historic Downtown Carrollton certainly doesn't compare to McKinney or Fredericksburg for shopping , but it does furnish an escape from the crowded city where one can go back in time when life was not as hurried and busy as it is today with I-635, I-35, etc., and mass transportation So without driving any distance, experience the life of your grandparents, and dream. One caveat, there are no places to sit in the shade--and it was HOT the day we were there!

There's not a ton of stores or restaurants but the ones that are there are pretty good. Sign in at the American Legion as a guest for a cheap drink, go to Cane Rosso for some of the best Pizza in DFW, or shop in the boutiques throughout the square. Also, the Babe's Chicken here is probably their best location in the metroplex.

Downtown Carrollton is so relaxing....it is a perfect size. Lots of options for eating, and several quaint unique shops! We enjoy walking down to the square and enjoying the different activities they have planned down there.

Lots of shops, antique & novelty, to browse. A unique old town flavor square with eateries. One of the best places to eat is Babes!

Downtown Carrollton has some of the best places to visit in Carrollton and the metroplex as a whole. Babes, Cane Russo and Twisted Root are some of the best restaurants, and blooms is always a great place to go and check out their awesome candy and toy selection. But there are some problems with some of the shops. the antiques stores are pretty small and don't really have many interesting antiques, there are fabric stores and smaller boutiques that are overpriced and not really interesting. The rainbow cafe never seems to be open and when it is the food was subpar at best. I haven't been the new Mexican place but the last one that was there had terrible service. So all in all its worth a visit but the area can be soooo much better.

This is one of our favorites! Love Bloom candy store with vintage treats and super funny gifts! Cane Rosso has best pizza in the metroplex. Love the antique store. Free entertainment on weekends. Just wish they had one restaurant on the square with an outdoor patio!

Nice shops, fun to walk around after big meal at babes. Check out the shop down the street that has old time candies, trivia, etc. it is a hoot

Quaint, original, entertaining, and nearby for locals, the "old downtown" area plays host for several restaurants, unique shops, and occasional events throughout the year. Often overlooked due to more heavily populated areas like Addison, downtown Carrollton offers a family friendly alternative for holiday celebrations, concerts, and seasonal festivities. Parking can be a challenge for special events – plan ahead.

Lots of options to explore while walking around. Our favorites are Babes and Twisted Root - Beth Marie's ice cream is also a good one. Tons of shops and they often do a movie night or other activities on the square.

Historic Downtown Carrollton Town Square is a pleasant environment with places to meet, have an excellent lunch or dinner, and shop for a variety unique items of value and interest.

The main area of Carrolton wasn't expecially big but it's a nice stop. There are good restaurants, a beer garden and a nice public square.

There are shops for souvenirs, clothing, snacks, meals, and antiques. It is a fun place to browse, shop and meet friends. There are often special events in the square. Parking is somewhat limited but it you have to park down the road, it is still worth the trip.

Great old time city square with lots of boutique shops, quaint restaurants and even larger restaurants (such as Babe's Chicken, Sid's Rainbow Grill, Wonderful World of Cooking, and Twisted Root) and a very nice gazebo. Perfect place just to relax and reminisce about the "good old days."

I have lived in the area for several decades, so I have watched this downtown district grow up. Currently there are some really good restaurants to eat and drink at. they host a lot of festivals which are family friendly. Make sure and check out their calendar.
My favorite stops is the candy/gift store Blooms. They have tons of individual sodas, nostalgic candy, and some really entertaining gift ideas. Take your kids, but as an adult I have more fun then them because this stores has my childhood favorites.
Take a trip down memory lane, and grab your favorite candy as a kid. Then stroll through the town square and browse through the antique and gift shops.

All the cute little shops are ridiculously charming with a classic old town feel. From "The Vintage House" to "The Old Craft Store", downtown Carrollton is truly a little gem. Once you've finished your spend-binge, walking over to Babe's Chicken is the perfect way to end a blissful day of shopping.

There is not really a lot to see there, but there is 3 restaurants, Ice Cream parlor, huge antique store and several other shops to see.

Truth is we were trying to find a parking space for Babes Chicken and stumbled upon the quaint downtown square. We enjoyed the leisurely stroll around the square and did some unplanned shopping after lunch in a Main Street antique store. Very inviting and safe vibe around the square & amazingly quiet given the proximity to the interstate.

Downtown Carrollton has just enough shops (antique and miscellaneous) to make for an interesting afternoon. And there are four good restaurants, Wonderful World of Cooking, Agave Azul, Babe's and The Rainbow Grill.

The beautiful park full of pumpkins made for great pictures. The fountain is relaxing and cool. We had a great meal at Azuls and loaded up on candies from a candy store that has all my child hood favorites. Carrollton has successfully invested in its community. Tomorrow we are going to the twisted root. This should could continue the fun on this visit.

The old, preserved buildings and gazebo are beautiful. Check the Historic Downtown Carrollton site for events and live music on the square. Lots of small, individually owned shops to visit and some fantastic restaurants. Don't miss the ice cream at the Cow Tipping Creamery truck tucked in the yard next to Monkey King Noodles and Cane Rosso. A great Friday night for us is taking our pups to Cane Rosso's dog friendly patio and enjoying some great pizza and drinks, walking around a bit and then ice cream at Cow Tipping.

I had never been here even if I reside in the metroplex, but decided to come over here after passing by here on Bus 400. Took the green line and got off at the station. I visited several little shops here, and was surprised at how the people were warm and hospitable. Told me to come anytime and are really charming. Among the shops are several little restaurants, a small coffee shop, candy store with bottled soft drinks and unusual candy, and several gift shops. The town square has a gazebo and there are movies shown here from time to time..I will certainly come back

once upon a time the north bound train stopped to take on water. the train is now the DART with lovely station. Carrollton is 100 + years and has maintained and refurbed many of the original buildings. some of the shops have been there for decades and the owners are always happy to talk. the gazebo in the square is for special events. parking is a bit of a challenge but more spaces are in the works. the walking is brick and uneven so wear comfy shoes and have a lovely afternoon wandering.

The historic square in Carrollton is a great place to shop and dine. Arranged around the large gazebo and parking area, are a number of interesting stores, including Finishing Touch Antique Mall, The Old Craft Store, featuring quilts, fabrics, quilting supplies and classes, Ten of Arts Gifts, Vintage Martini, a vintage clothing store, Blooms Candy & Soda Pop Shop, featuring over 100 different types of soda from across the US, the eclectic Silver Star Mercantile, and Nature's Gallery, featuring fine gems, minerals, fossils, and unique gifts. Great places to eat on the square include Agave Azule, Amici Italian Restaurant, Babe's Chicken Dinner House, Sid's Rainbow Grill, and Lue'isiana Po-Boys. Newly opened just off the square is Twisted Root Burgers. This area is very popular and the parking area fills up during lunch hour. Check out the historical markers in front of the original historic buildings.

Lots of shops, antiques, hand made items, lounge with live music, great old time soda shop. Excellent Mexican Food at Agave Azul, ALso diners and coffee shops. Easy Access to I35E, George Bush and the DART Green Line Train

So I missed my turn on the way out of town, and found myself here when I was trying to get back on track. Remembered hearing our friends describe it during our visit, so I made a detour or my detour and got in a nice little walk. Some unique shops and a fun atmosphere if you're nearby (or lost like me). I didn't have time to linger, but glad I stopped to see what it was like.

Downtown Carrollton amounts to about one square block. There are some newer apartments, a gazebo and a handful of knickknack shops and restaurants. The restaurants are nice destinations but the "downtown" isn't worth a trip.

Downtown Carrollton is a fun place to spend an afternoon of shopping and eating. I've lived in the area for over 20 years and I always enjoy the antique store, the quilt shop, the candy store, and buying a new outfit and the boutique, on the corner. The jeweler does a great job on repairs and is honest and reasonable. There is a wide variety of food choices. I love Twisted root and the Old Rainbow soda shop as well as Babes or Agave Azul. For a romantic ending to the day, go to the upstairs Italian restaurant.

There are restaurants we frequently go to here. Easy to get to and ample parking. Small shops and businesses for shopping, or just window shopping.

the shopping and restaurants are all there.
antique shops and a gazbo in the center of town.
they even have a ice cream shop ther. a wine bar and the VFW is right there too.
they have babe';s chicken (excellent food)

So this is not the fanciest place on earth, nor is it the trendiest. This is an old-fashioned downtown in a diverse city that can be enjoyed by all ages. Entertainment is family oriented at different festivals and events. For those who expect fast food speed at restaurants, it's probably not the place to hang out. If you want to slow down a bit and enjoy your family or friends, it's a great place to visit. There is a growing younger crowd with some nice apartment/retail developments nearby, including the one that houses Twisted Root Burger. Places not to miss - International Bakery for cuban coffee and pastries, Babe's Chicken for a terrific homestyle meal, and Twisted Root Burger for a great burger. Also Cane Rosso for pizza, Amici's for Italian, and El Rincon for Mexican food or a cocktail. There is a wine bar, and ice cream shoppe, a cafe, and an old fashioned grill. The DART line has a stop here, so it's a fun ride from the Frankford station or even from Denton via the A train and connecting at Trinity Mills to DART. My kids are teenagers now, but when they were little, the DART ride on a weekend late morning or early afternoon made them happier than where we went or what we ate. If you're looking for cookie-cutter cities that try to create a retro downtown with fancy "antique reproduction" carbon-copy buildings, this isn't it. It's authentic and laid back.

Downtown Carrollton has LOTS to do - cute shops (I wish more were open on Sundays for longer periods of the afternoon/evening) and the City of Carrollton has lots of fun (and free!) events in the Square. Movies, festivals, etc...

It is a cute area and we love going to Babe's over there. Every year or so it seems to fill in a little more. Cute area that is getting better each year.

This is a good place to go for an afternoon to just browse shops for fun. The candy store there is especially fun and is a great place to find vintage candies and foreign imports you can't find many other places. Lots of public parking makes this tucked away little town-center accessible. Feels like a nice piece of Small-town America in the midst of the mega-metropolitan DFW area.

Such a pretty place to hang out and people watch with friends or even just by yourself. You have a nice view of all the shops and can spend some time figuring out which to visit or visit them all!

We recently had visitors from England, it was so nice to have somewhere close where we could stroll around and feel safe. Various array of shops and places to eat. In all a very pleasant experience

I've lived in the Dallas-Fort area most of my life and have somehow never seen this area of town. I know I've been close to it several times. Anyway, I was highly impressed! A nice little square with a park and gazebo in the middle and lots of shops and a few restaurants all around. Check out the Plaza Theater on one end. It's been converted for use as an event center but they still have some live shows in there as well. As I understand it, more parking is coming for that area as well.

The parking is decent, there is a good variety of food choices, and plenty of small businesses to support!

Small downtown area with boutiques and antique stores. Nothing earth-shattering, but shopping here is a decent way to spend a couple hours and perhaps come away with something unique.

Nice enough downtown for a big new suburb. Some old buildings and some new ones. A good place to get our of your car and stroll for food and shopping.

Boutique shopping, nice spa, good restaurants... and improving every time we visit. Check it out! Restaurants with many different cuisines (Agave Azul, Twisted Root, Amici, Sid's, Cooking) and darling shops with friendly staff and interesting items.

Had dinner at our favorite spot in Historical Downtown Carrollton and spent some time with my Grandchildren at the square enjoying the gazebo water fountains.

Spent about 60 minutes here with my wife. Might have spent longer had it been lunch or dinner time. It is basically a parking lot with a small park surrounded by shops and restaurants. There were some interesting antique and women's clothing stores and a few restaurants. We went because I wanted to visit a music instrument repair shop - which was excellent. If there is a specific restaurant or store you want to visit, it is worth going, but I certainly wouldn't consider it a "destination" stop, in and of itself.

Great gazebo for photos and to rest. They have cute little seating areas by the fountains. Lots of neat little local shops. Love the antique mall, quilt shop and great restaurants. Highly recommend

Cute area, love shopping in the store. good for antique shopping. Love to eat at Babes!! Nice place to spend a few hours on a weekend afternoon.

Love this little town setting. The plaza is very nice with various shops - a great stroll. They also offer plaza entertainment so check their schedule of events - Visiting from Nevada - a great find.

Very quaint and friendly. Nice shops and restaurants. Babes Restaurant is a must. The old town square is a nice place to walk. It has a gazebo in the middle of the square.

Hey, it's an Old Town Texas square. El Rincon is pretty much my favorite Mexican food place. My wife loves the B shop (women's clothes). And the mineral store is just, awesome! (And this is all on only one side of the square)

The Downtown Carrollton Square is a lovely small town square with unique shops. Sometimes special events are held here, like the Festival at the Switchyard.

It's a nice looking square with a park/gazebo as the center and old buildings around the parameter. A block or two off the square are new development apartments and parks. In general, this square is not really thriving as a tourist attraction. It's history and background are important, but the current look of the place is sort of run down with empty buildings here and there.
I'm giving the square a three because it's not really an attraction to visit. It does have some very nice restaurants like Babe's and Cane Rosso. I would visit those directly rather than plan a day or afternoon on the square.
Other squares or historical districts in the DFW that have a better draw are McKinney Square, Downtown Lewisville, Downtown Grapevine, and Bishop Arts. If you happen to live near this square, it has events that would make the place fun. Like last weekend's Brats, Banjo and Beer event. Check their website for an events calendar.

We went looking for just a few hours walking and visiting the small shops. You will find a big retro collection antique store, coffee shop, candy shop and some other clothes stores.

Was not looking for this, ended up here as we needed a place to park. Many cute little shops and central square. Wish we had more time to explore it further.

Such fun to see our old downtown come back to life. New restaurants are coming in to join a few oldies but goodies. The city is hosting events on the square frequently, including movie nights. Check the City of Carrollton website for details.

Great place to hang out with friends. My kid loved walking around in the area and found it quite intriguing.

Experience the park like setting on the square for a movie, a festival or to shop and eat nearby on the square. You could easily be there for hours literally. Will you make your way there soon!

The place seemed like a throwback quiet Texas town. Antique shops, little shops, restaurants, town square and lots of parking.

Whether shopping or eating, this is a great location. Accessible by DART Green Line and there is a newly built parking garage. Parking in the square is at a premium. Great shops and restaurants.

We visited the area specifically for the Bloom’s Candy Store. I had read in reviews that the people were rude. My husband had made a few selections and asked if he could put it on the counter. He was told no that he needed to carry it with him in a basket. At the time, there were 4 customers in the store. (Two couples including us.). I had a few things in my hands but had seen some sodas and other items I had planned to purchase for Christmas. Just as this conversation happened between my husband and the employee, I happened on a part of the store where crass and crude items were stocked. Once I heard the conversation, I called the shopping experience over. I went to the counter and added my 4 items to his. I paid the ridiculous price for the items and we left. My husband was puzzled but left with me. He had bought a root beer soda for $7.00 and stopped to put the empty bottle in the crate at the entrance. I explained my abrupt exit to him in the car. Had our grandchildren been with us, I would have been livid. Crude items with the “F” word and body part names may be nostalgic for others but it was trash to me. I should have left the selection we made on the counter and walked out. The shopping experience was ruined by the stores trashy selections. We won’t be back.
Nice area to walk around eat/drink/shop
We have been going here for decades since our favorite restaurant is here ( Amici's) many new shops and food area have been added over last few years, my wife loves the little shops in the area, decent wine bar with live music also.
