Fascinating history of our town. Whether you live here or are just visiting, it gives a glimpse of what life must have been like in the early days of Naples and how people experienced our town back then. I gained a new appreciation for the beautiful homes in Olde Naples, the foresight of the early “settlers,” and an understanding of how the city developed. Go early in the day because it does get hot even though we stopped in shade for most discussions.

I have always seen this cottage on my trips to the pier, but never stopped in. One day I was on my way to go fishing and decided to stop in. I decided to take the tour with Jerry and he did an excellent job! I learned so much about the history of Naples and the cottage which has been bought and sold multiple times. This town really is a unique and special place to be born in. I recommend taking this tour to anyone if you are from out of town or if you are from the town.

The Naples Historical Society had their first mystery evening last night, and it was a rousing success! With luck, they will do it again. A tour of the oldest house in Naples (air-conditioned) was wound around a story that an item was stolen from the house, and hidden within it. Four teams of about 15-20 each were charged with solving the mystery. Clues, verbal and physical were sprinkled throughout the house and after 2 hours.....all four teams figured out the mystery. GREAT fun, highly recommended....BUT you don't need this tour to enjoy visiting Palm Cottage! School age kids will enjoy it as much as their parents. This is something a visitor to Naples should not miss. Parking across the street, walking distance to the Gulf beaches too.

Very interesting if you’re into Naples history. All the volunteers were very friendly and the restorations are looking good.

All explorations of Naples should arguably start in this museum . We stumbled upon it on our way to the Pier.
The best may be to combine the 45 minutes House Museum Tour with Norris Garden tour.

A very interesting house to visit and great volunteers explaining about the history of Naples and the area, and the role of the house.

Wife and I, recently, took the guided tour of the Cottage in a small group conducted by Mr. Jim Ruane. 5 stars for Jim. What an encyclopedic knowledge of the local history, plus the relevant history of the old Cottage, which is in fantastic shape btw.
And Jim is in shape. I mean he delivered his epic and vastly entertaining historical stories for the entire duration of the allotted time while barely pausing to take a drink or lose his train of thought. He did breathe regularly tho. I have been to a couple hundred house tours (I'm ancient) and this man's performance is virtuoso in valuable content and flawless execution.
Best tour I've been on in decades, literally.

Really enjoyed this tour! Jerry, our tour guide, was very interesting and knowledgeable and happy to answer our questions..even though we are Chicago Cubs fans! Highly recommend!

Being tourists in our hometown. Started the day with a trolley tour and then visited the Historic Palm Cottage. Guided tour was interesting and very informative. We learned so much about how Naples was founded and who were the key contributors. We highly recommend that all locals stop in for a visit to learn about our gem of a hometown and of course to all visitors too.

The Palm Cottage is a lovely home filled with charm and tales to tell! The tour we took (during the Christmas season so the home was decorated for the holidays!) was a glimpse into not only the history of the town's oldest home but how Naples came to be built and flourish.

We loved our tour of the Palm Cottage. Our tour guide was kind and knowledgable, she really enjoyed talking about Naples history and of the home. We are from Louisville, KY so we were really curious about Walter Haldeman and she really gave him credit for starting the beautiful town of Naples.

What a walk back in history. I learned so much about the early days and what brought people to Naples.

Oh my goodness what a fun night! We got to do the free holiday tour of the home. So much fun and Naples history. Loved seeing the place decorated for the season too. John was a great tour guide and gave a great presentation of the phonograph! Definitely a Naples must do! #PinkyKnowsNaples

The Palm Cottage is the oldest home in Naples. It was built in 1895 and served as an annex to the Naples Hotel a very very long time ago. Even though Naples has been hit with some terrible hurricanes over the past 100 years....the Palm Cottage is still standing. The Tour was excellent and very informative. There are period furnishings though out the home and many historical photographs of Naples from 100 years ago. The grounds are exceptional and if you are visiting Naples in the future, make sure you book your tour and see this gem.

We have lived in Naples now for a Tad over 5 years. When we go to the beach we usually park near Palm Cottage. I viewed a video about keeping homes the way they were instead of tearing old homes down for more modern homes. When I recieved an email about fee tours for Collier county residents I quickly scheduled one. Jerry was our tour guide. We learned SO MUCH from him...and with many interruptions too he presented a lengthy wonderful tour. Deborah, "Debbie" was checking people in and also made us feel comfortable. We are starting to really appreciate Naples even more now that we know more about it's history.
I think I will be taking more pictures about construction and renovations in the area....because maybe someday in history my photos and captions may be valuable to future generations...

A glimpse of what old Naples was like and the people that developed the area going back to the early 1900s. Beautiful garden and house which are restored to the 1940s era. Our docent was very knowledgeable and had many interesting stories about the "genteel folk" who lived in the house through the decades.

Enjoyed the one hour guided tour, the architecture and stories of what Naples was like in the beginning. Good value for $12per person

The tour guide was knowledgeable and quite the historian!!! It was so very interesting and we really got a good history of Naples. The Palm Cottage is beautiful and has been restored wonderfully. The grounds (gardens) were lovely as is the "guest cottage" out back where you can view a video about Naples history as well. Parking is a bit of a challenge so allow for extra time to find a spot (paid) in the public spaces.

Parking for the Naples Pier is adjacent to this cottage which is how we noticed it. Unfortunately, it was a Monday, so they were not open. Still it was interesting to view the outside of the cottage. Suggest you put up more information that could be accessed on a Monday for those visiting then.

We visited last year and had a wonderful time.
This year we brought our parents to Naples and wanted them to visit the house.
It was just as good as last year, a wealth of information on Naples and lots of interesting information on this beautiful preserved house.
We also learned they managed to raise funds to purchase the property next door to make this into an interactive home as part of the tour.
We cannot wait to return to explore this once open.
Thank you for such an enjoyable experience, and thank you to all the volunteers that work so hard to keep this project going.

A hidden gem in downtown Naples!! We loved our tour led by Jerry! He was extremely personable, knowledgeable and friendly, which made our tour seem like walking through a cherished family home. The home and grounds are beautiful. Be sure to enjoy the video in the back cottage which takes about 20 minutes. A MUST SEE IN NAPLES!!

Would recommend this tour to anybody who would like to know a little more about the beginning of Naples and some original architecture.

It does look like a Cottage from the outside but we were wowed after walking into the front door! Our guide was excellent and made this a very interesting and informative tour.

We recently visited Palm Cottage and the adjoining Norris gardens. The garden is beautifully laid out, and the various themed plantings are exquisite. A sunny and grassy center, surrounded by shade trees and benches, perfect to sit and admire the gardens.
Palm Cottage, the oldest home in Naples is charming. The rich history of the house and Naples come alive as you walk through the rooms of house, and hear the stories during the tour.
After our tour we had a delicious al fresco lunch at a restaurant at Third Street South which is within walking distance.

My wife and I just took advantage of the Naples Historical Society’s walking tour of the streets and homes of the early days of Naples. The tour, which takes a little under two hours, began at Historic Palm Cottage on Pier Street now known as 12th Avenue. Historic Palm Cottage dates from 1895 and is the oldest house in Naples. It was built as an annex to the elegant Naples Hotel, a destination for those who wanted to fish and hunt and enjoy the spectacular beach and Gulf and were adventurous enough to make the trek to early Naples. Each of the early homes along the way as a story. The builder, the owner, the landscaping. Bring a bottle of water and a hat. Highly recommended!

This is such a wonderfully preserved piece of Naples FL history it should be a must-see on visitors to southwest Florida. The staff are incredible, especially our tour guide Judy. She knew so many of the details of the house and never missed a beat, even being interrupted with questions. The cottage has been meticulously restored since hurricane ian damaged it, and the experience was great.

The Palm cottage is an excellent example of early housing in Naples Florida and a description of the founding og Naples Florida. The tour guide was most knowledgeable about the people who built the Naples pier and the first Naples hotel. As we viewed the restored interior of the Palm cottage the guide showed us many images of the founders, the buildings and the foliage of the turn of the century. It is definitely a 10 out of 10 experience.

We did the historic walking tour as well as the house tour. Both were informative and interesting. Excellent docents who care deeply about History of Naples. Enjoyed seeing Palm Cottage as well as other early homes.

Toured the Historic Palm Cottage in Naples with visiting friends. Very good guide, we learned a lot of Naples history. Highly recommended if you’re interested in history.
Parking is across the street but is shared by beach goers and fairly expensive Payment is via automated kiosk or by phone, credit card required. I find the phone method easier. Nice area to walk to restaurants and shops along Third Street.

I spent a day in Naples and decided to take both the historic walking tour of Naples and the tour of Palm Cottage. I thoroughly enjoyed both tours. Thank you to both docents (Julie Ann/walking tour and Judy/cottage tour) for sharing their knowledge of the rich history of Naples.

This is a terrific, small museum which should be seen by all who live in Naples or vacation in Naples. It is a wonderful slice of Old Naples as it was since 1895. A lot of the area has been torn down and rebuilt so this is an important historical sight to visit. It is well maintained and researched. Visitors will leave with another view of old Florida which is slipping away from memory. It important to know about the past even as it is being regentrified.

Fascinating 45 minute tour. House is surprisingly large inside. Fun stories on the tour. Highly recommend

This is must see if you visit Naples. Take time to chill from beach, shopping and eating to experience this place and understand how it all started.
Docents are interesting and fun.

This lively, informative and organized tour led by Jerry our docent, was a pleasant and enjoyable addition to our itinerary while in Naples. The artifacts, furniture, paintings and Jerry’s commentary brought the history of this house and its colorful owners to life. We learned so much and had a lot of laughs at the same time. As we moved on to other places in the area, we continued to mention facts from this tour which added to our understanding of the development of Florida.

Wonderful history lesson and a knowledgeable tour guide
Recommend highly for anyone who enjoys history
Charming house

Palm Cottage is a key part of the history of Naples. Our docent, Judi, was very knowledgeable on the house, the history, and the early settlers in Naples. The cottage is beautifully restored and filled with period-correct pieces of furniture.

Nancy Slade was such a knowledgable guide (docent). It was a fabulous tour and well worth the price.

This was a great tour! The home and the gardens are interesting and our tour guide, Jerry Ruane, was very engaging and knowledgeable. Be sure to take this tour, you will learn about Old Naples and a past way of life!

Definitely worth visiting to learn about the history of Naples and many of the characters who are part of that history. The house and its many artefacts are fascinating. The garden is also a delight. Our guide, Jerry Ruane, was outstanding - brought the whole place to life.

We had a wonderful tour given by a docent, Don Whittow. It is worth taking this tour, don't miss it. Such a beautiful home with lots of stories. Mr. Whittow was very informative. Welcomed questions and provided a background of the 4 owners of the cottage and so much more. You have to book it online. Try to get there 1/2 hour before your scheduled tour, there is a movie to see prior to your tour.
I highly recommend it.

The tour is a little under an hour and does a great job explaining the growth of Naples from after the Civil War through today.

The visit was brilliant. We had an excellent docent who talked us through the local history of Naples and a detailed history of the cottage as we went through the various rooms. The garden was a delight.

This is the quintessential place to unlock Naples' early history. Be sure to go on both the walking and house tour. You will discover little gems sprinkled all over Old NAPLES which will give you a real appreciation for how far it has come. The docents are volunteers and do a great job.

We have visited Naples every quarter for the past five years and finally decided to tour Palm Cottage. It was a very interesting tour and provided much information regarding the founding of Naples.

We went to the cottage on 9/27 and found it closed. The website shows it as open. Disappointing. They should update their website.

A wonderful afternoon! So interesting and insightful! The tour guide, Julianne Grace, was lovely and so educated in Naples history which really made the tour. She told a story, from the late 1800’s through today, hi-lighting every detail to make for a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable experience. I would recommend this stop as a great way to spend an afternoon! PS. Make sure you put enough time in the parking meter as the meter police will ticket your car if you run over.

A start to learning the history of Naples, Florida and the history of this beautiful home. The tour was very interesting and informative.

As a newer resident to Naples, I was curious about the origins of this town. The walking tour provided by the Naples Historical Society was up and beyond anything I could have thought of! The walk was contained to a few blocks while observing local homes along with the Naples Pier and ending up at the Historic Palm Cottage which holds relics and photos from the past. My guide John was thorough, had a plethora of knowledge, was relatable and also had a good sense of humor which made it a memorable tour. I highly recommend taking this walking tour of Naples!

Wonderful walking tour of Old Naples, Florida!
However, honestly it was a bit pricey.
The guide was very courteous and answered all questions and was very knowledgeable and professional.

Really enjoyed the tour of The Palm Cottage led by wonderful guide with many interesting anecdotes and details on Naples history.

This walking tour provides excellent information about Naples, Fl. in the early years of development and the people who were involved in developing Naples. Very interesting.

Our guide (Julianna). was awesome. She was genuinely excited about the history she was discussing. I learned a lot and had fun along the way.

Palm Cottage is the oldest house in Naples, built in 1895 as an annex to the Naples Hotel situated just east of the Naples Pier. The Naples Hotel is now a parking lot but it was big in its time (Gary Cooper stayed there to make a movie). But I digress. We arrived at Palm Cottage on a Wednesday morning for our 9:30 walking tour, which started and ended at Palm Cottage. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Naples from its inception as a fishing and hunting spot in the years following the Civil War. We were treated to seeing the homes built in the 1910s, 1920s, and 1930s and learning about the architectural differences between the decades and their owners. Also included was knowledge about how few of those historic homes and buildings still remain.
The tour lasted two hours and ended with a short tour of Palm Cottage, where we learned about the several owners of the cottage over the years. It was a great tour.

I wanted to give Julianne a big thank you for giving us a beautiful tour. I learned so much more about the historic Naples. If you are visiting Naples or Macro island, you should make your way over there over to this house. I would come again. Thank you again!

This cottage is definitely worth touring if you are looking for some history in Naples. The cottage does not look that impressive from the outside, but the inside is truly spectacular. The staff is very knowledgeable regarding the history associated with not just this house, but all of Naples.

This was the second time we went here, but it had been years. Mark was an amazing docent and really knew lots of history. We are familiar with a lot of history with Naples, he would just add additional fun facts. I am trying to promote this little gem of a place. All residents should visit the oldest house in Naples.

I took the tour on a hot August morning and thoroughly enjoyed the tour with John.
Very informative about the early days of Naples. The Palm Cottage was also very well preserved.

The guided tour of Palm Cottage is a great education in how this city got its start. This is one of the original homes, beautifully preserved. There is plenty of parking. I highly recommend signing up for this experience.

Excellent tour. Naples has an interesting history. Very knowledgeable and informative docent - Jerry. Beautifully preserved home and contents. Much worth the time and cost. Easy stop on your way to visit the pier.

Really enjoyed this house and introduction to Naples history. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and shared not just historical factual information about the house, the location, and it's multiple owners, but also just fun stories about the area, the change to Naples through time, as how the Historical Society operates today. Highly recommend this tour of the house, the grounds, the short film, and the collection of local historical memorabilia in the cottage next door.

I was pleasantly surprised at the knowledge of our guide & her enthusiasm! I have been wanting to see this beautiful place for quite a while. It was a great value too! I would recommend it.

this is such an amazing place the tour was super the tour guide Julianne was superb. I will be going back for a Christmas tour .

When, not if, you take this tour, be sure to take the guided one. We were lucky to join one in progress, then join the next until we were all caught up.
The guides, Jerry and Mark, were terrific, each with their own style and perspective.
You'll learn a lot about Naples and how it was developed. You'll learn about key characters, and how the generosity of individuals played such an important role in its growth.
Afterwards, we watched a movie in a separate room. It focused on tales from many long time residents, and that gave a very personal perspective.
This is a don't miss tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it

Our guide was charming and informative, learned a great deal about both the building, but more importantly the occupants and their influence on the rise and development of the CITY OF NAPLES, the region, and the US. Thanks for a fabulous tour.

The Naples Historical Society offers to many wonderful events and tours. We took a large group to Croquet & Chardonnay and had a blast. The tour of the Palm cottage and the historic Naples Walking Tour are both "must do"! So fascinating to hear all about how Naples started.

Very interesting and knowledgeable tour guide. Loved learning the history of Naples and the people who helped develop this gem.

Our Docent was highly qualified and we learned a lot about how Naples became to be the Naples it is today. Highly recommend.

Immersive historical experience of life in early Naples thanks to an engaging and knowledgeable volunteer guide and thoughtfully furnished house with period furniture, appliances and photos.

The history on the founding and growth of Naples was very enlightening. The architectural value of the building and fixtures was amazing. The Society has done a wonderful job of preserving the building and history of the area. We are planning to take another tour and bring friends.

Docent Julieanne Grace was fantastic in her knowledge and presentation of the beautiful Palm Cottage. The cottage is deceiving from the outside. However, once inside the space is huge and ever so pleasant.
Enjoyed every minute of the tour and look forward to the Christmas tour!

There isn’t much that’s old in Naples, especially when compared to where we live in Boston. So to visit the oldest house in Naples certainly offers a glimpse into the building of the city. And what a fascinating tale to tell! Mr. Moses (Bob?), our well informed and enthusiastic docent, gave us all the background that could be shared in an hour-long tour, and even went a smidge over since we were the last one of the day. The house itself is interesting, especially since it has survived many storms when others around it didn’t. A must see when in Naples!

WORTH THE WAIT!
After having walked past the Oldest House in Naples for many years I eventually persuaded myself ( and my wife) to pay a visit.
The property was much larger than it appears from the exterior. Our guide was so enthusiastic that it elevated the visit to an exciting and most interesting experience. A special thanks to her and to the Naples Historical Society. (Visited at 12.00 Thursday 14th March)
It was fascinating to not only learn about the history of the house but by association the history of Naples. If you have been thinking about visiting it is definitely a worthwhile and stimulating experience. Don’t put in off like I have done

After many years visiting Naples, we finally stopped by The Palm Cottage. What a delightful surprise! We waited in the garden a short while for the next tour to begin, and greatly enjoyed the fragrance, the beauty, and the serenity. The tour of the cottage was led by a volunteer docent who was both extremely knowledgeable and warm. The house has played a significant role in the history of Naples, and the docent brought that history to life. The tour went by too quickly, but it was well worth it!

The lady that conducted the tour was very knowledgeable and had many interesting stories about the Palm Cottage and how this property contributed to the history of Naples. We learned a lot about how Naples got developed back in the day and who the players were in that development. The construction of this property was explained and very interesting. Well worth the price of admission.

Really enjoyed visiting the historic cottage and learning more about the history of Naples. The tour takes you through all rooms of the house with commentary, talks about the families that lived there and much more! If you are a history lover, you will love it. Even if you're just casually interested, it's well worth the visit.

Great tour! Loads of history & interesting stories! Fascinating architecture especially considering surviving all those hurricanes.

We took a guided tour of the house and grounds. Docent was very knowledgeable. Be sure if you're in downtown Naples, you stop and see Palm Cottage.

Julie Ann was our guide and she was EXCELLENT. She conveyed a wealth of knowledge to our tour making our time with her so interesting. The cottage is kept very nicely and is rich with historic items. This place is a must see if you come to Naples.

Enjoyed my tour of the Palm cottage and the recorded video interviews of local people who lived in the area in the earlier Naples days. I found it all very interesting, and would recommend it to anyone who would like to learn about the earlier history of the city and area. Note, fair number of stairs if you tour the whole home.

We enjoyed the interesting hour tour of the oldest home in Naples. Very knowledgeable docent. Interesting Canadian connection and some great artefacts and photographs. I think you will be happy to spend the time.
We did have difficulty finding parking nearby, so be prepared.
I am planning on purchasing the property and converting it to my private residence, so if you want to visit now’s the time. Just saying.

My visit to Palm Cottage was so enjoyable, made even more so by my lovely, knowledgeable docent. She told so many stories about the cottage and also the founding of Naples. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and have a deeper appreciation for my adopted city.

Beautiful house well preserved, the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of it. Highly recommend for those who are interested in historical places

A quick visit and tour explains the evolution of Naples from unexplored land, to a fishing village and ultimately the area it is today.
It's a great way to learn about the piers, the hotels, the people who traveled here, and how Naples was settled winters and year round.

I would recommend this visit to everyone who wants to learn about the history of Naples. The house itself was beautiful and tour was very interesting thanks to the docent who guided us through. The gardens were lovely and the video of memories of Naples in the old days was a delight. Will surely return.

"Well beyond our expectations" are the words that best describe our experience earlier this week on the Naples Hidtorical Walking Tour. We highly recommend this to anyone visiting this area of Florida- a wonderful reminder of how the teacher ( docent) can make learning fun. Thank you.

booked the entire cottage for a group trip for my residents what neat place to visit to learn the history of Naples Florida.

My husband and I have been frequent visitors to Naples and have walked by the Palm Cottage on many occasions. This past week we FINALLY decided to book the tour and were so glad we did. We got to walk around the Norris gardens and watch an award winning film documenting the history of Naples. We then had a tour of the Cottage interior where our tour guide Jerry gave us a plethora of information about Naples history as well as interesting facts and stories regarding the cottage and the individuals that resided there. The interior of the cottage is spacious and beautifully decorated. I enjoyed the stories about “the flag” and how a couple of the paintings were acquired. I am so happy we finally made it a priority to visit this historical landmark.

Great looking first house in Naples. Unfortunately, we were not able to join a tour but enjoyed the house from the outside.

Well preserved cottage that reflects the history of the Naples area. The docent tour is highly informative and takes about an hour.

Beautiful historic home tour but most importatnt the excellent story of how Naples came to be established and the many characters along the way. Lots of stories and local color from our docent Julianne, Definitely recommend to all.

I'm not generally a huge history fan but I love seeing special homes and the tour of the historic Palm Cottage was a great way to spend an hour. I recommend a docent led tour- our guide did a great job of telling stories about early Naples and the people who visited, lived and developed the area. The cottage is much larger inside than it appears from the outside. It's located about a block from the Naples pier and shopping/restaurants of Old Naples.

I've lived in SWFL for 26 years and this was my first visit to Little Palm Cottage. What took me so long!? A friend and I bought our tickets on line for the :45 minute docent tour. Just a quick comment - parking is plentiful on the street and in a parking lot across the street at reasonable prices. Free if you have a Collier County beach pass.
The cottage itself if meticulously maintained with era or original furniture, furnishings, personal item of the several families who owned the cottage over the past 128 years. It is a fascinating trip back in time to a unique time and place in history generally and, of course, specifically for the modern "discovery" of the the now wildly different greater Naples area. Our the enthusiasm docent, Kathleen Reynolds Lynch, had for the Cottage and its history was infectious. She was very knowledgeable and had done a lot of research on her own. She peppered the narrative with lots of interesting tidbits about the cottage and the people who lived in and around it.
There is plenty for everyone to enjoy; even children would be interested in some of the treasures of the collage. For example, a turn of the century typewriter is "what computers used to look like," one child reportedly commented. It was an enjoyable and worthwhile excursion and well worth a couple hours for either the cottage tour our the history Naples tour or both.

If you find history interesting as we do, this is for you. The exterior of the house hides a grand and elegant impressive interior. Wonderful high ceilings and many historical photos and everyday living items that are totally fascinating. The guides are full of stories that give us a great sense of life at that time.

I enjoyed this tour. Naples is a very young place but its so nice that they are trying to keep some of the original houses intact. Amazing what they managed to create from nothing. Interesting stories. Well worth a visit

This is very definitely worth visiting. The house has survived, despite being buffeted by hurricanes, due to its unique structure including walls made partially of sea shells. Our tour guide Jerry was a font of interesting stories about the house and its history. A very entertaining hour indeed.

Wonderful experience today finding out about the history of Naples the staff and guides were very knowledgeable about olde Naples I would recommend to all

We had such a great time listening to the history and stories of Palm Cottage. Our docent was very knowledgable and an excellent story teller! The Christmas decorations were the icing on the cake, but I would go back and take guests anytime of the year. We really enjoyed it!
Kim S.

I enjoyed the visit. But first a rant on the no photo policy (including non-flash!) Reason offered "Insurance won't allow this, even without a flash it damages the historic objects" Balderdash. I'm in insurance we write fine arts - that's bunk. This isn't a famous building where the foundation should worry about controlling sale of images, nor is it mobbed like Fallingwater, where alllowing pictures would bolix up tour flow. Grrr. But, back to the house itself: quite pretty inside, and it would have made a fantastic family home when finally converted from hotel guesthouse use. Our tour guide shared Naples history and was of the role this place and the former hotel played in it - entertaing and full of detail, though toward the end we got the cut off - tours run 45 minutes and we were probably 10 over (questions), that's all folks :) It's a worthwhile stop and not expensive.

The tour of this cottage was exceptional. The volunteers who lead the tours are very knowledgeable and full of interesting anecdotes. The cottage furnishings and photos are interesting to see.

From the exterior view of the cottage, we weren't sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised with the wealth of knowledge shared by our tour guide and the artifacts throughout the cottage. She was able to answer any questions we had, I felt that she could have talked for hours about the history of the cottage and Naples in it's early days. We greatly enjoyed the tour.

Very informative. Highly worthwhile. I have lived in Naples for over 20 years but learn something new every time i visit the historical society

Fascinating tour of a beautifully preserved historical house, while being informed by a knowledgeable docent, about the development of the Naples area highlighting the people responsible for the development of the area. The tour was only 45 minutes and well worth it.
The house and grounds are lovely.

Very friendly and informative about the surrounding area as we were waiting for our tour to start. Tour is about 20 minutes with a film to watch at the end. Beautiful wood floors and the furniture is in the 1930 -1950 period.

Very knowledgeable and interesting docent spent about an hour describing with the right amount of detail to make our visit informative and fun. I'd recommend visiting this site when visiting Naples.

As we walked up to the cottage porch, we were greeted by two ladies welcoming us to a comfortably appointed seating area. After an interesting introduction we stepped into the main hallway of the cottage and were pleasantly surprised by such grandeur. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the cottage’s history as well as all the former owners. With our guide’s narrative, it was easy to step back in time to have a peek at the daily activities in and around the cottage. Outside the garden area was quaint and inviting with foliage tagging to investigate. A pleasure to visit both cottage and garden!

By coincidence we arrived just in time for a tour! It was well worth the entry fee, hearing about the history of Naples, the cottage and its inhabitants. Terry (the docent) and Peggy were lovely and warm and enhanced our visit. It’s a beautiful house and was a highlight of our visit to Naples.

I adore Palm Cottage. As a resident, it feels me with joy every time I pass by the cottage. It has just such a great feel to it. It's right next to all the big multi million dollar homes, so it gives a sense of where the town started. Located just steps from the Pier, and a short walk to historic Third street with shopping and dining. The tour is awesome as well. The docents are very nice and knowledgeable. Definitely put it on your must do list for the history buffs visiting Naples. #PinkyKnowsNaples

Jerry, a highly skilled tour guide, gave an unforgettable and highly informative tour in a sweet cottage by the sea. Once inside, the decor, gardens and photographs provides a window into Naples in its earliest days. Easy to book and adjacent to many lunch places, Palm Cottage is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Allow time for the garden.

Cannot remember tour guides name but she really painted a picture in words of Naples past. I could tell she was really into the history and very knowledgeable. When I return in April will be taking my 13 year old daughter. My mom and I loved it. If you have problems walking up stairs there are 20 and steep. One older lady had to wait downstairs when we went on upper floor. Great tour and loved the antiques and walking in the garden!!

Fun way to experience The history of how Naples began. Knowledgeable & fun tour guide. Highly recommend

We enjoyed an awesome and informative tour that taught us a great deal about both Naples and SWFL history. Tour guide was very energetic and knowledgeable. I’ll bring more visitors in the future

Always enjoy the history in traveling on business. great tour, Kathy was a treat
Learned why the towns of Italian names, the Collier hisstory and of course the cottage itself

Great place. The Historical Society does an excellent tour. Very interesting history of Naples. Visit at Christmas Time the house is decorated beautifully.

Nice old house well maintained. Docent led tours are noteworthy. We enjoyed our visit. The adjoining gardens are beautiful.

Having read the fantastic trip advisor reviews, and staying in Naples we had to visit.
There is parking available, which is payable.
Booking is advisable, as they offer small tours downstairs and can get fully booked.
The volunteers are a credit to the historical building, and we are so pleased we visited.
There is a lovely peaceful garden to sit and relax and toilet facilities.
Thank you for such an enjoyable visit.

I didn't even know this place existed, but it was beautiful! The inside of the house is amazing and a great example of how people used to live. The outside was pretty and well-kept. The whole site was very small, but the attendants were kind and had a lot of good info to share!

We received the opportunity to tour the cottage and grounds. Amazing to think that a hurricane damaged the site last year. Well kept and well interpreted site to welcome guests. The photographs lining the wall are fantastic and very informative as well as the furnishings throughout the house. Very impressive and definitely a site worthy of a visit for those interested in the history of the region!

The Palm Cottage is very close to the Naples Pier which is the most popular tourist site in Naples. The Pier is great but you learn a lot more about the history of Naples by touring the Palm Cottage. A tour of the house is very well done with quite knowledgeable guides. Loaded with period furnishings and authentic decor. There are many excellent hanging photos of the early days in Naples including one where the golf course was used to land very early airplanes.
We took the historical tour offered on Wednesday mornings. For 2 hours we walked all around the historic district with an excellent guide telling us fascinating tales about early homes and people of Naples. We were very impressed and will certainly take the tour again. Need a break from the beach, try this out. I am sure you will love it.

All the 4th grade classes at our daughter's school went to Palm Cottage & had a wonderful time (I was a chaperone). This historical site is a MUST SEE if you're visiting Naples. It's rich in history & the tour guides are A+. The home is well maintained & the outdoor area is lovely, too.

Walk through the history of Naples based on what happened in this house. The tour guide and speakers are wonderful.

Well worth a visit for an introduction to early Naples history. The guides are knowledgeable and entertaining. The interiors are more elaborate than the outside view would suggest. A oral history video is also interesting, especially what it was like to live with mosquitos and no seeems

This is a "must do" part of the Naples experience. Our docent was incredibly knowledgable about the house and the city. We really enjoyed learning all the facts about the building of the house, and the part it played in the development of Old Naples.
Naples isn't just about beaches, wonderful restaurants, and amazing shops and attractions. It has a unique history and much is centered around Palm Cottage. Between the cottage, the adjacent garden, and now the new property to be annexed to the museum, an important part of Naples is being preserved.
Our docent shared information about the damage to the house during Hurricane Ian and the Historical Society has done an impressive job of bringing the house back after al the floors were ruined and had to be entirely taken up, restored and then relaid through the entire downstairs. We plan on returning when the nw building is open.

Yesterday we took the 2 hr walking tour led by the well informed, Julianne (previously we took the tour of the Palm Cottage- equally enjoyable!). . It was truly interesting and full of relevant information. It was certainly worth the little time we spent travailing past sites we’ve walked by numerous times before. I’d recommend that anyone who’s spent time in the city of Naples, take this little tour and acquaint yourself with the roots of this town you love. You’ll be fascinated and glad you took the time

Great knowledge of Olde Naples and the people who helped form it, lovely old paintings and photographs, well worth a visit.

I've lived in Naples over 50 years and finally made the time to tour historic Palm Cottage. I'm glad I did. Our tour guide was gracious, funny, and knowledgable about the history of this beautiful cottage. My only regret is not remembering his name. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by one of the society's volunteers whom made our group feel very welcome - I wish I'd brought an apple pie to give her. : )
When visiting our beautiful city, please make time to tour Palm Cottage, you'll be glad you did.

Docents at Palm Cottage do a great job of informing guests of how life in Naples used to be. There are also several other activities, such as the chickee chats, that are very entertaining as well as informative. Check out their website for other activites at Palm Cottage and Norris Gardens.

The Palm Cottage is very close to the Naples Pier. The House gives you an interesting inside of history. The house is nicely decorated. You will find a lot of photos with explanations- I loved to read those. We did a self guided tour with a little brochure on hand and everything was well described. And it is nice walking through the garden. The Lady who welcomes us was very friendly and has given also interesting insides.

My daughter and I did the inside tour of Palm Cottage. We had a very friendly, educated docent that answered all of questions and added so much more. Naples is lucky to have such historians to preserve Naples past.

We were returning from the Pier when we found this and we're glad we did. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about Naples and Collier County. We had our two little ones with us and the tour guide adjusted the tour to fit our needs so we learned a lot without the kids getting too restless.

Naples has so much diversion to offer its visitors, and this is the perfect place to start. The Palm Cottage is chock-full of information about the history of this little sliver of paradise. Learn about the founders -- the wheretofores and whys as to how Naples came to be. Check out the pictures and furnishings and the quaint little garden. If you're a trivia or history buff -- or just want to spend an hour or two stepping back in time -- you MUST visit the Palm Cottage. But be sure to book your tickets ahead! Groups are small and tickets are in demand! Enjoy!

The Palm Cottage tour I enjoyed very much. The tour guide was very informative and extremely kind. So much history is learned about in this spot. I found out about this historical site on Trip Advisor. If you happen to go to Naples and you love to learn, this is a place you need to check out.

Knowledgeable docents and very interesting. The tour is about one hour and the docents don’t mind if you linger afterward to look at all of the old photos on the walls which were very interesting on their own. We did not know in advance that our admission ticket covered not only the cottage and its tour but also a building next door with additional history of the area including Native American settlements. Allow time for both! Definitely worth $20 adult admission.

A lovely walk thru old Naples filled with information and fun facts about how Naples came to be. Been here 20 years and shame on me for not doing this before now! For sure, I’ll be back with guests.

This beautiful, historic cottage from the pioneering days of Naples ;is an authentic step back into a much simpler time, when the only way to this beautiful part of SW Florida was by boat. Our tour guide Bonnie provided us with so many facts from the meaning of "Cracker Architecture" and "Tabby concrete" to the tradition of hoisting a flag to signal to your neighbours to drop by for a cocktail. A very worthwhile outing.

The walking tour of the oldest neighborhood in Naples was interesting and informative. The docent who led the tour, Julianne Grace, was knowledgeable and gracious. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning about the early history of Naples.

The tour included several blocks surrounding the Historic Palm Cottage and the cottage itself. A knowledgeable docent shared key facts and interesting stories about the area, beginning with the Naples pier and including a number of original cottages. Her ability to combine respect for both history and the architectural significance of the cottages was impressive. The Historic Palm Cottage itself and the gardens were a fitting end to a great tour. The place was easy to find. Tip--plan to bring money or credit card for the Collier County meter.

Nice experience and worth the visit. Beautifully decorated for the holidays and beautiful garden included with tour.

We toured the Palm Cottage with a marvelous docent and discovered a world in Florida that we did not know. The stories of the people and events made the tour interesting and entertaining. Highly recommend seeing this historical treasure.

My sister and I went to the Christmas cottage decorations. Great history of Naples and the area. Our guide was very informative, fun, and did a great job.

The Palm Cottage is a “do not miss” tour when in Naples, Florida. We were fortunate to have John Teluschak, the educational director, lead our tour. John’s enthusiasm is infectious, we enjoyed our time at the Palm Cottage.

The Palm Cottage is very worthwhile tour that conveys the unique history of the Naples area as well as the people who laid the foundations for the region success. You will not only get a glimpse of what tourist life was like in the early 20th century, but also hear the stories of visionaries who overcame social, economic and natural obstacles. If you like history, antiques, or mazing life stories, don't miss The Palm Cottage.

Loved this beautiful tour and we did the tour during the anniversary week! It was free which was great! The gardens were great. From the outside it looks like a little cottage but it’s not, it’s a beautiful, well worth the tour. The guides were wonderful!

We had a great visit to the Palm Cottage. It was so informative and we learned so much about the history of Naples. Julianne was our docent, and she did a fabulous job. I highly recommend visiting the Palm Cottage on your next visit to Naples.

Our tour of he historic Palm Cottage was excellent! Our guide was knowledgeable and could answer any question on the history of Naples. Well worth the time.

We lucked out and had a tour guide (vs a tour on your own). I loved the house. People were so adventurous to come here ‘back in the day’ when there was basically nothing. I really enjoyed this tour.

Was part of a great tour today led by the totally awesome Jerry. He was very knowledgeable, and his tour was interesting and amusing. He gave a lot of details, basically making a 50 minute speech with no notes. Sure, he’s done it before, many times, but he still seemed as intrigued by the subject matter as he made all of us be.
The house was quite an interesting bit of history for Naples, and my friends, who live in Naples, found it to be a worthwhile tour, as did I (I am from out of town).
The house is just down, or up, the street from the Naples Pier, so it’s easy to combine those two things for a nice day out!
Just make sure you check the Naples Historical Society website for the hours the Palm House is open - we went on a Saturday and it did not open until 1 PM. Also, at least on Saturday, they only gave tours on the hour.

I enjoyed the tour very much. The lady who conducted the tour did a wonderful job. She knew a lot of Naples history, and was very entertaining as well.

We took the BOGO tour on Sat at 2 PM. Be warned the parking situation is atrocious, leave yourself 30-60 min to find an open spot plus time to fast walk from that spot. The tour was very interesting, and well organized. I liked the way it wove together the development of SW Florida by visionary investors, with the different characters/owners of the cottage through it’s history. The 20-min film did not just repeat the history, but introduced some native Floridians recollections of days of yore. I suggested that a map be created for a self-guided tour of other historical properties in the district, so hopefully that will happen. The garden is also worth a look to see lots of the local vegetation artfully intermingled.

On Friday, April 22, 2022, we had the opportunity to tour the "Palm Cottage" in Olde Naples. What a GREAT adventure exploring this 125+ year old home and getting a glimpse of [old time] Naples and Southwest Florida! Our docent, Bonnie, was EXCELLENT. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very engaging. I highly recommend putting a tour of Palm Cottage in Olde Naples on your "to do list".

I can recommend the Palm Cottage Tour with the highest enthusiasm. We have been coming to Naples for over 20 years and always wanted to take this tour Finally we did! A true delight to learn the fascinating history of Naples plus get a glimpse of how the community lived at its beginnings. Our docent was extremely knowledgeable about the Cottage and Naples, which made the Tour such a great experience. Thanks so much for a great day.

Excellent synopsis of Naples history. Our docent, Jerry, did an outstanding job..he definitely knows his history. Gardens were enjoyable and well maintained. So pleased to have added this tour to our many wonderful experiences in Naples. Have just one suggestion, it would add to the pleasure of the experience to have a place to sit occasionally during the tour. Thank you again for all of your expertise.

What an interesting and informative tour. Our volunteer guide; Walt Copeland was fantastic. With historical clarity Walt weaved a history of the several previous owners, descriptions of how some of the rooms were initially designed and how other owners changed the use and configuration depending on their families or lifestyles. This is a ‘must see’ attraction!

With this jewel of Naples history so near, put the beach on the back burner for an afternoon!!
Knowledgeable docents present Collier County history like the telling of a fascinating story. Visiting groups are small and questions are encouraged!
Make your reservations on line.
Thank me later!
Signed—Once a teacher, always a teacher

Fully outlines history of the city and county and has nice photos and historic objects. Staff was great. Tour included with admission.

This tour of the Palm Cottage is a must for anyone interested in the history of Naples. Our tour guide, Nita was very informative and as interested in the local history as we were. A great way to spend an hour or two!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Palm House tour given by Nancy. She was a wealth of information whose presentation was most interesting and engaging. As a first time visitor to Naples, this tour gave me insight into the town's rich and diverse history. A must stop on your visit to Naples.

The "Cottage" is meticulously maintained and the dissents are knowledgeable and welcoming. It was a pleasant experience and I enjoyed the narration and was awed by the meticulous condition. It was nice to learn about the history of Naples, Florida

We took a docent led tour and it was so good. The tour was informative and so interesting. It covered the history of the house/hotel annex and the beginnings of the city of Naples.

I've lived in Naples for 8 years, and finally made it to the Palm Cottage when my mom visited from N.C. I learned so much about the history of Naples, and the people who helped to make this place into the beautiful town we love. It's well worth your time to visit.

The historical society does a great job on their walking tours at orienting you to Naples and it uniqueness. Our older homes are a treasure that we hope will last forever and the historical society does what it can to promote that.

140 years of history in this old home and Naples as well and the excellent guide explained it all in less than an hour. Go when it’s cool if possible to enjoy the garden too. Well worth the admission.

The docents were very knowledgeable and very patient. It is a lovely piece of Naples history and I am very happy it was preserved for guests to see Naples as it once was.

Went with a friend on a hot rainy afternoon and LOVED it! Grounds were beautiful.
Fascinated to learn about the building construction and lay of the land back in the day. Great stories including the martini flag- will hoist one back home! Staff was knowledgeable and personable and fun! Highly recommend to all. Just the right about of time. One suggestion would be to include more of the history of the native people in the area and those who were forced into service (ie: convicts/ slaves?) and helped build Naples and Florida. Thanks for a great experience!

This tour and experience is definitely worth the money. In addition to a video review of the history of the home, small tours are conducted through the hose. Tour groups are purposely kept small so participants can move easily through the home. Our docent, or guide, was extremely well versed in the history of both the town and the home. Once the tour is complete, you are free to sit on the front porch and relax or wander the beautiful gardens.

We thought the tour was very informative and interesting on the history of the house, people and area. Our guide was so fabulous. Her enthusiasm was contagious and her knowledge was extensive. We were with my elderly mom and she always pointed out places to sit for people who needed a small rest every now and then.

The history of Naples begins at Palm Cottage! It is a must for visitors and residents alike. The tour guides are a wealth of information, the cottage is stunning, and the importance of preserving the history of our country is made evident.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the "cottage". Actually has 3500 sq ft of living space. There are many stories of yonder year waiting for you in these walls (which have a very interesting construction). Jerry our guide was charming and had amusing tales to tell. The cottage is situated close to the pier and third street shops and restaurants and is well worth the admission price. Beautiful peaceful gardens to walk around and a nice 25 min slide show in the "shed" highlighting old -timers and their stories of how Naples grew up. Don't miss the vacuum cleaner upstairs!!..and the prohibition table in the living room!

Our expert, friendly tour guide transported us back in time with her colorful, descriptive narrative as we strolled the beautiful streets of Old Naples. Not only did we come away with a knowledge and appreciation of the founding and growth of this special place in Florida, we also gained insight into the architecture, landscaping, and preservation efforts of today. The tour is an easy walk, but you may want to consider sunscreen. The time flies by, but the sun is high - it's Florida at its best!

Great little tour. People were informative and friendly. Learned a lot of Naples history. Pretty gardens. Tour was o my $13. Well worth the money.

Original Naples history best experienced with a docent tour. Great old photos of “how it was” before Tommy Bahama and Fifth Avenue.

Visiting the Palm Cottage in Naples and taking the historic walking tour really added texture and depth to our knowledge of this region. We greatly enjoyed learning about the many characters who risked life and death to come here and make a life. John was a terrific and very knowledgeable guide to the quaint homes and sites in the original downtown area. We left the tour with a new appreciation for the loveliness of Naples and the efforts made throughout history to make this a comfortable and enjoyable paradise for many. A great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

The tour of the house was very complete It included s history of the area. It was a rainy day so a house tour was perfect for us. The is also gardens to tour but it was raining too hard to spend any length of time in them. This place is right down the street of the famous Naples pier.

See Naples when it first began to develop. This is a fairly brief tour led by knowledgeable docents who really care about the subject. Delihtful.

The ‘Palm Cottage’ is a must see historical attraction in Naples Florida. Our tour guide did an outstanding job describing the historical significance of the Palm Cottage and how the city of Naples was established. I also learned about the importance of famous 12th Avenue pier, the establishment of the Tamiami trail and how Collier County was established. I will, without reservation, bring our visitors to see and learn about the Palm Cottage. It was a great experience.

Perfect. We wanted a quick one hour tour and love the history of Naples. This is the oldest place in Naples and our guide shared lovely stories about the cottage and the history of Naples. Exactly why we went. It is a lovely spot and priced right. The garden is lovely as well. Don’t miss it

The Cottage is unimpressive from the outside but the history of its provenance and use was very interesting. Our guide was an excellent story teller, and her descriptions of the background and lives of the historic figures involved with the Cottage were fascinating. Historic pictures hanging on the walls of the Cottage add to the appeal.
Well worth the admission price. The gardens were not exceptional but touring them was a nice conclusion to the visit.

Our docent, Nancy, was incredible! Even though she was born and raised in Illinois, you would think she grew up right here in Naples experiencing and hearing all the history and stories directly from the locals. She had us so involved in the stories of the residents and their lifestyles. Such colorful tales we heard - we were engulfed in the charm of Old Naples.
This is a must see in Naples!!
...and only a block from Naples Pier.

I like old houses but what makes this one special is the knowledgeable docents who lead the tours. All the volunteers were super nice. Well worth your time.

We were advised to visit this cottage (2 storey house) by a local we met; its on the corner of 12th Avenue South and Gulf Shore, by Naples Pier. The tour, conducted by Jerry, was absolutely splendid; the in depth knowledge and the enthusiasm shown for the subject matter was just great. The gardens and the film show out back were both interesting and a delight. They even helped us with the parking; take plenty of quarters, this is one of the worst parking systems I have ever come across. If you are visiting Naples make sure you visit this attraction, just wonderful, well worth the small entrance fee. Thank you Jerry and John

Our tour guide, Dick Wittow, was wonderful. He gave us a description of the families who had owned this cottage that made me feel like I was there when it was all happening. The cottage is lovingly cared for. I appreciate so much what the volunteers have done. That you!

Our tour guide was so well educated on the history of the Palm Cottage it was like walking through a beautiful documentary or actually living in those times. The Cottage is much larger once inside than it appears from the outside and it’s full of wonderful details and stories that are truly fascinating. You won’t know Naples unless you stop by here sometime during your stay.

We had an excellent guide who was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. Great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

My husband and I were spending 2 days in Naples on February 8th and 9th and saw the Palm Cottage mentioned on Tripadvisor. We found a parking spot, which is not easy in Naples , and went on to the porch of the cottage. We were greeting warmly and asked if we wanted to take a guided tour or just walk through the house. We choose the guided tour and it was the right decision. Jerry was our tour guide and we knew from meeting him on the porch that this was going to be a wonderful experience. He gave us history of the city of Naples and the owners of the Palm Cottage. Jerry was terrific so ask and see if he is available for a tour!! You won't be sorry.

My family enjoyed a great visit and wonderful tour of the Naples Historic Palm Cottage yesterday! The Cottage and gardens are beautiful and we loved learning not only about the site's rich history, but also about the restoration efforts that the Cottage underwent after the site suffered damage due to Hurricane Irma. (Check out the newly installed dogtrot window when you walk into the kitchen!)
The city of Naples and the Historical Society are lucky to have such a dedicated team working to ensure that the Cottage is kept safe and open to visitors for years to come! Very impressed.

Interesting tour of one of the last cottages in old Naples. Tour guide was great and the cottage is well maintained. You step back in time to the early days when Naples was being developed. You also learn a lot about how Naples was established and the people who had the vision to create a beautiful city.

Jerry, the tour guide, made the history of the Palm Cottage come alive! The atmosphere of the tour was friendly, relaxing and full of fascinating stories. Not only did he go in-depth of what the former owners’ contributions to the thriving community, but also how the transformation of Naples has become from the 1800s to now.
A must do while in Naples!

Have lived in Naples for 40 years & have never visited Palm Cottage until today.
So happy we did - tour guide was very knowledgeable & informative. We would definitely recommend visiting Palm Cottage . Loved seeing the old photos of Naples .
Having grown up here in Naples it was very interesting to see the old photos & hear about the history of our city. So much growth has taken place ( good & bad ) !!
Definitely would recommend to Naples residents & tourists.

Great tour yesterday thanks so much Nita… very informative. We always enjoy house tours and this was fun..

We loved seeing the lovely cottage and learning about the history of Naples. Judi was a wonderful guide. We’re so glad we went!

A must visit when you’re in Naples. We really enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about Naples and the history of this lovely cottage! Our tour guide is very knowledgeable and welcoming!

This is a MUST visit while in Naples !! Learn about the town you are visiting! Wonderful curated tour. Docents really know Naples.

Visited the Palm Cottage with my 88 year old mother who recently moved to Naples. Very informative about the history of the city and its colorful founders and pioneers. Our guide, Suze, was a gem, and accommodating regarding Mom's mobility issues. Second floor was a no-go. They made sure to point out additional information sources and of course we bought a book. All in all a very nice time.

The Old Naples and Palm Cottage Tour was wonderful. What a fun way to learn about Naples on a beautiful day! Julianne, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and paced our tour very well. We would highly recommend this tour to those interested in history, architecture and Naples, of course!

Very interesting tour of one of Naples original dwellings and the early architecture and construction techniques that allowed it to survive multiple storms. Gardens are also native and very well kept. A Chickee hut in the gardens reflects the early native American architecture as well

I have lived here for six years and have never visited the Palm Cottage. It was so informative and the home and grounds were beautiful.
I learned so much about the area and how Naples was developed. Would highly suggest for visitors and locals too.

The history of Florida is often overlooked. Palm Cottage takes you back to “the good old days”. Despite a number of hurricanes doing damage which has been beautifully taken care of this is a wonderful look at how early settlers and visitors lived.

This quaint cottage has so much wonderful history to share. Our tour guide was amazing and provided insight into the formation of Naples from the very beginning. Definitely recommend the short video after the tour also.

This was nice to see how homes were built and the history of Naples, Fl. It's in a good location and there are many places to eat afterwards.

The hour long tour of the Palm House was rich in history and how the area evolved from barren wilderness to the present marvelous city of Naples. Our guide Suze was an excellent font of knowledge and had excellent command of the unique history of this area of Florida. We could have spent hours more in this well preserved cottage. We may do it again to see what we missed.

We toured Palm Cottage a few years ago and returned this week with friends. Our docent, Judy, was delightful and incredibly knowledgeable. There's so little of Old Florida remaining here and we're lucky that Palm Cottage has been preserved to provide context for the city that Naples has become. We learned a lot on the tour and agreed that it was an hour well spent. (Be sure to spot the invitation to the cock fights in the library!)

Our family of 5 adults visited today. Jerry was our tour guide and he did a fantastic job explaining the history of Naples. We were going to spend a rainy afternoon at the movies but we are glad we visited the cottage instead.

Today we took the historical walking tour with Julienne. Absolutely wonderful tour. Learned about the history of Naples and saw many of the original and restored homes and cottages. Well worth the time. The tour included a short visit in the Palm Cottage as well. Highly recommended

Enjoyed learning more about the history of downtown Naples with the Palm cottage, owners and original hotel. Was fun hearing about the investments made in the early days and wonder how the founders would feel seeing how it has progressed since the early days!

The tour was fantastic and informative

We enjoyed learning so much about the history of Naples from Jerry at the Palm Cottage. He provided us with interesting information in an engaging presentation!

Really enjoyed touring this historic home and the history presented by our docent who walked us through the house pointing out life in old Naples in the late 19th century. The house is air conditioned and fully furnished with amazing historical features that bring it to life.

Not sure why this is an attraction. Not too much on display and was somewhat a disappointment. Expected to see more on history of Naples.

We loved the Palm Cottage tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable and gave us an amazing presentation about the early days of Naples Florida.

We visited Palm Cottage, Naple's oldest home, yesterday. I cannot rave enough about the docent (Miss Nancy) that toured us throughout this beautiful and charming historic home. She provided so many interesting details - and sometimes in a type of re-enactment - that we felt we were living in this home. She spoke about past hurricanes, the "water mark" left on the piano, the lifestyle of its occupants and that the existing Hunter fans were installed in 1924 and still working! We also visited the gardens - gorgeous, especially the Fragrant Garden - and it sure was fragrant. A must see if in Naples - and the fee - $13.00 - well worth it!

It's amazing that buildings like this have survived the tremendous growth and sky-rocketing property values of Naples. I had heard about this historic home museum over a year ago - and finally got a chance to explore it myself. The home reflects the early days of life along the seemingly endless strand of mainland beachfront. The grounds are beautifully designed and maintained - looks like a wonderful place for a wedding or garden party. We learned how this connection to Florida's past was saved and is now operated by volunteers who are fully engaged in preserving Naples' exciting heritage.

Took the Naples Historic Society Naples walk which started at the Palm Cottage. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the history of Naples. She highlighted cottages along the route that were built in the early 1900s. Many were updated inside but maintained the unique characteristics of the original era. We saw the site of the original Naples Hotel, as well as the site of the new Naples Hotel that is being built next to the original location.

This was a wonderful walking tour of historic downtown Naples. As a lifelong resident since 1978, I was blown away by the amount of local history I did not know. Even my 8 year old daughter got into the tour. We had a wonderful guide who was excited and animated and made the history fun. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

Be sure to sign up for the weekly walking tours, of historic Old Naples, offered by the Naples Historic Society.
We’ve just returned home from a marvelous tour with Walt, one of the knowledgeable and charming volunteers.
The tour was 2 1/2 hours in length, and we learned so much about this lovely town. Walt shared stories of the founding of Naples, the many famous and interesting past residents and as well he discussed the various building styles.
My husband and I lived in Naples for over 12 years, but learned so much today.
This is a tour that is definitely worth taking

Mark our guide was very knowledgable and fun! The cottage looked so nice with the Christmas decorations. Highly recommend.

Colorful and highly entertaining tour of the Palm Cottage -- I learned SO much during the short tour about Naples and what life was like in the early 20th Century. Also, I was able to witness first-hand all of the work that went into repairing and restoring the Cottage after Ian -- such talented craftsman donated their time and skills to bringing the Cottage back to its former glory. Finally, the docent, Julianne, was amazingly knowledgeable and made the home and its inhabitants come to life. Strongly recommended for anyone visiting or living in Naples.

My husband and I did the walking tour of Naples provided by Historic Palm Cottage and it was excellent. Mel, our docent, was so informative. If you’re ready for a break from the beaches or have a rainy day, check out this and/or a tour of the cottage. So much interesting history!

I enjoyed the Chickee Chat about the history of Naples Airport on February 24. Zachary Burch, the airport's communications manager, offered brisk, charming, and informative remarks about how the airport evolved over the decades. I've also been impressed with how enlightening the docent tours of Palm Cottage, the oldest existing house in Naples, are. Anyone who's interested in the history of Naples will benefit from attending the Chickee Chats and tours presented by the Naples Historical Society, in my judgment.

I had the pleasure of Julianne as a docent for a tour last year of the Palm Cottage so was delighted when I saw she was also the tour guide for my recent walking tour of Naples. She did a great job of showcasing the history as a backdrop for many of the lovely homes and other landmarks we saw -- had great anecdotes and a wealth of knowledge. D

This is definitely worth a visit for an hour or so. Our docent Jerry did a marvelous job of explaining the history of this house and the City of Naples. This was a very informative and interesting guided tour. Located just a short walk from the Naples Pier. Go and relive a part of history. You will be amazed at how far Naples has come in a relatively short period of time. For that you can thank the inventions of air conditioning and mosquito control as well as some pioneering determined families.

We are Naples residents and took a 45 minute tour. The 45 minutes flew by as our tour guide led us through the few owners of the Cottage and how the Cottage played a key role in the early history of Naples. Highly recommend!!

Palm Cottage is easy to find, located near the Naples pier. Knowledgeable docents are available to share information about Naples history. There is also a lovely garden to visit. I highly recommend also experiencing the walking tour of Naples Historic District.

Palm Cottage is a gem. We were so impressed with the docent. He was a wealth of information. My friend and I were so surprised to learn so much of the beginning history of Naples. I have been coming to Naples for over 30 years and never expected to see or learn what we did.

First time to Palm Cottage. Our tour guide, Judy, was fantastic at teaching us the history of the cottage and the beginnings of the Naples community. Highly recommend the house tour.

Enjoyed our visit to Palm Cottage, learning about its history from the excellent home tour and videos of descendants of early Naples families. Staff is welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the home's rich history. Can relax in its beautiful, peaceful gardens. Well worth visiting!

Such a gorgeous house with so much history. Loved seeing the small garden too. The man that checked us in was so friendly and told us a lot about current day Naples which I appreciated. John, our tour guide, was great and told us so much about the house and life in early naples. He made us feel so comfortable and answered lots of questions. So glad we stopped in!

This is our second trip to Naples and we decided to take the tour. It is a interesting look about the history of Naples and how it developed. We walked to the pier and past several historical homes stopping in the shade to learn history. If in the area I would recommend the tour.

It was a pleasure to visit the Historic Palm Cottage. Our tour guide, Nancy, did an excellent presentation. The history of Naples was so fascinating. The strength and vision of the founders set the foundation for the beautiful city it is today. The beautiful gardens at the Palm Cottage had an amazing assortment of tropical plants.

John was our docent for the walking tour. Excellent history of downtown Naples. Highly recommended...

Toured with a group of friends who all enjoyed the stories told by our guide. The cottage is an excellent example of a historic site which is well cared for by the Members of the Historical Society. Please take time to visit when you are in southwest Florida.

Fantastic experience and very informative. Our guide, Nancy did an excellent job in her telling of the cottage and hotel’s history. Highly recommended for locals and visitors to Naples alike.

You can’t go wrong with a visit to historic Palm Cottage. Tremendous docent-led, 45-minute house tour taking you back to the early days of this world famous resort town. Combine a tour with lunch on nearby historic 3rd Street and a stroll out on the Naples pier. You can’t go wrong! BLC

A gem of a house in downtown Naples Florida. Beautifully preserved, rich in history.
Our tour guide Jerry was excellent, knowledgeable, and very interesting. We're so fortunate to have such a well preserved piece of history!!

Would definitely recommend! The staff and volunteers are passionate and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the house tour and the walking tour. Loved learning the history of the Naples area.

The Palm Cottage is the one remaining building where visitors can get a feel for Naples' early years ...All the others are now parking lots! The tour of the cottage is excellent and informative. Take time to stroll the gardens after the tour.

I read about the Historic Palm Cottage in a few travel books. What I expected to be very small and rural was well kept and presented very nicely. T he docent at the cottage set our small group up by telling us about the Cottage's history in Naples from the beginning of the town to the building boom you see today!

If you have an interest in history and want to know how Naples became what it is today, then I highly recommend taking the two hour historic district walking tour. John, the education manager who guided us was a mine of information and a great presenter. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
A note about parking: It is metered street parking around Palm Cottage where you start and finish the tour, and some guests were having a problem with the machines. However, there is free street parking a couple of blocks east of the cottage.

Highly interesting place to visit. Originally built in 1895, Palm Cottage has seen Naples change from a small town with hotel for the rich and wealthy to spend their holidays fishing and hunting, to the bustling city in the 21st century. Taken on a trip down (someone else's) memory lane, our guide Nancy immediately grasped our attention and was able to retain it for over an hour. Awesome!

This was a fantastic tour and our guide, Jerry was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the house and Naples. I would highly recommend this tour!

Well worth a visit. We learned a lot about the area in general as well as the cottage. Our guide was really friendly & knowledgeable.

Had a delightful tour of this oldest, historic house in Naples, by docent Nita. Furniture and artifacts beautifully displayed. Interesting historical information. Morris Garden.

Lovely cottage with a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic docent guide. Very interesting tour. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. If I have and criticism it would be the following:
Because the rooms are quite small, when you have a group of 10, it is a little cramped and difficult to see everything and extremely hard to take any photos without either getting in other peoples way or missing some of the information as you have had to wait for the tour to move to the next room.
Secondly, we, as the other people in our group, had paid for the tour which ran from 3 till 4PM. However, at 4 PM, before our tour had concluded, the house was opened up for general free of charge admission. Lots of people arrived at this point. In my opinion, it would have been better to have delayed this until 4.15PM to allow the last paid tour of the day to complete without bumping into people who had just come in.
It was still worth the visit though.

My friend and I visited Palm Cottage today and loved it. Our tour guide Judi was an excellent source of information about the cottage and the history of Naples. Would highly recommend.

I’ve been to Naples several times but I finally booked a tour at Palm Cottage. It was decorated for Christmas and it was so beautiful. Jerry our docent was very entertaining. I loved hearing all of his stories about old Naples.

Our docent, Julianne, did a fabulous job sharing stories about not only Historic Palm Cottage, but also about the history of Naples and the visionaries who helped bring our beautiful city to life. We are so blessed to have this treasure.
If you enjoy historical facts while you’re visiting, please don’t miss a visit to the oldest home in Naples (built in 1895) including the gardens, video and seeing all the pictures and furnishings from that time. Beautiful!

This is a small museum in a pretty cottage, near to Naples pier and Third Street ; cost $13. We were greeted warmly by one of the guides, who told us a little about the house. We took a self guided tour, guided ran hourly .each room was set up with furniture to show life years ago when Naples was a fishing snd hunting venue. The special things about the house were the photos which showed you how Naples had been in its early days. A film played telling an oral history of the town based on people’s memories. The garden was a quiet sanctuary and worth a visit in its own.

This is a wonderful history of how Naples began in the late 1800's
Our docent was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.
Lovely experience.

It's so encouraging to see the volunteers who have such knowledge of Naples' past. We really enjoyed taking our time to look at all the pictures and artifacts. The video of the oral histories from older Naples residents is fascinating. Highly reccomend this trip back in time.

Only had one day to spend in Naples and was so glad that this is one of the places that we toured. The docent who led our tour was pleasant and informative. The house is lovely and I learned a lot about south Florida history. Can't wait until we can visit again and take the walking tour!

We had a really nice time at Brew in the Garden. The staff at the Palm Cottage are super friendly and welcoming. I especially enjoyed the Naples Art District Exhibit inside the cottage.

Absolutely enjoyed this tour! The cottage and gardens are beautiful but most enjoyed our guide and the incredible history of Naples!

My friend and I so loved the tour we had at Palm cottage! It was informative and entertaining and sparked a desire to learn more about the history of this lovely city. Our guide was a delight. Next time I will budget time to see the 20 minute video that's included.

The Naples Historical Society is a non profit that was formed in 1962 to preserve the history of Naples for "future generations to enjoy". The Naples Historical Society is also the steward of the Naples Historical Society Foundation, Inc. which raises funds for historical preservation.
The headquarters of the Naples Historical Society is the Historic Palm Cottage which is the oldest house in Naples. The 3,500 sq ft house was built in 1895 to be used as a summer cottage by Walter N. Haldeman, the owner and editor of the Louisville, Kentucky Courier Journal and Times. The house has now been turned into a museum. On May 24, 1982, Palm Cottage was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Tours are given of the house and educational programs are staged there. The Naples Historical Society purchased the 1/2 acre lot next to the house and turned it into a cottage garden that can be rented for events. Administration and archives is held at another historic property, a house built in 1910 that is a half block from Palm Cottage.
Some of the programs the Naples Historical Society implements are the Naples History Tours, Christmas at Palm Cottage, Garden Side Chickee Chats, fund raising events, and guest speakers. Palm Cottage is currently closed due to the pandemic but I still enjoyed paying it a visit. I had to make my own history tour but I look forward to coming back to take the Naples Historical Society's downtown history tour that includes the cottage. Anyone who is interested in history will want to avail themselves of the excellent programs provided by the historical society.

Cissie gave a great tour and had a wealth of information regarding the history of Naples and the beautiful Palms Cottage. This is a great way to learn about the city while visiting.

Historical home originally built in 1875. House well maintained with lovely garden area. Tour guide knowledgeable and pleasant.

There were no docents here to help us interpret the place, and while the cottage was well appointed, it was just another old house without a interpretive arch. The pleasant man on the porch selling a pricey $13 ticket for this small museum, did warn us that no docent was available, which he described as unusual, so I guess we bear some of the brunt of forging ahead anyway.

The tour lasted about 45-55 minutes and started right on time. The guide was very pleasant and shared so much history of Naples and the cottage. I highly recommend visiting this site.

We visited the Palm Cottage this week and enjoyed learning about how Naples got its start. The tour guide was very knowledgeable.

This was a great way to start our stay in Naples! Historic Palm Cottage is adjacent to the Naples Historical Museum. It provided us with the basis of Naples from a historical perspective and appreciation for our stay here. Amazing as to how it all started as to where it is today!

I so enjoyed the tour today. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and the house so interesting. It really gives you a great historical perspective of Naples.

Thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of old Naples despite light rain. John was a knowledgeable guide and such a pleasure to walk with. Discovered so much about what early days of Naples were like, and of the flora and fauna too. As an “old Yankee” from CT it’s difficult to think 100 years is old but here it is!

We toured the Palm Cottage on a rainy day. It is a beautiful home and we learned some of the Naples history. Well done tour!

Jerry was a very engaging and informative docent during our tour. There were just the two of us, so we had his undivided attention. I loved the quaint building, the history, and of course all of the antiques. It made a memorable start to our afternoon downtown.

The historic Palm Cottage is impressive. Once you step inside you are transported back in time. Our Docent was Jerry who I highly recommend. He had the entire group laughing and he answered each and every question with stunning stories of the old time history of Naples and the surrounding area. His exceptional knowledge of the home's former owners and their lives was amazing. Relax in the stunning garden area and reflect upon years gone by.

Julianna was a fantastic docent! We had a marvelous walk through historic Naples that covers the development of old Naples from the 1800s til today. So interesting about the people, cottage architecture, real estate and hurricane impacts. Lived here 20 years and went last January and again when our English friends came for a visit. All of us loved it. It’ll be a repeat, I’m sure in the future. I’ll need to book the cottage tour next!!!

A wonderful historic Naples home that is filled with great things to see. Our docent, Jerry, was extremely knowledgeable and a marvelous story teller. With 3rd St South restaurants & shops nearby, there's a lot to do & see!

An outstanding docent presented not only the history of Palm Cottage but also Naples, FL. A fascinating historic building!

The tour was filled with wonderful history about Naples and how it began. We toured the home that is filled with artifacts and pictures from many years ago

Together with friends from Northern Florida, we toured Palm Cottage on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. Very interesting hearing the early history of Naples and how they lived here before any railroad or road system. Beautifully preserved house.

Find out who saw the potential for Naples and why. Does fish have something to do with it? Why is the county named Collier? Compact informative visit as you take a break from catching too many rays. Then impress your friends at tonight's cocktail party with your knowledge. Well run tour of the house and beautiful gardens. Does not require great mobility.

We visited Palm Cottage on the request of a friend who was visiting . I was surprised at how big it was inside compared to the look of the house from the outside . Our docent , Mr. Ruane was very knowledgeable about the history of the house . There is also a film in a small outer building that can be watched after the tour . Also, the garden in lovely and such a peaceful place . Worth visiting to gain insight to the early days of the start of Naples .... pair this with a visit to the Naples Depot if you are interested in the history of Naples ....

I’d always been curious about Naples oldest house when I walked by it. We finally decided to take a tour and were pleasantly surprised at how interesting and informative it was. Our tour guide, Jerry, was more than worth the price ($12) of the tour. He really made the history of the house and of Naples come alive. I highly recommend this tour.

The tour was excellent & our tour guide really painted the picture of how things used to be when the Palm Cottage was part of the Naples Hotel.

This was my 4TH of 4 museum stops in Naples on this day, and it was the highlight of my day. I was the only participant for the 1 PM tour, and the docent was still eager to give the tour. Very admirable. He was very knowledgeable on the history of the house and the surrounding neighborhood. The house was beautiful and interesting. After the 45-minute tour I watched the 25-minute video, and that was very informative. I then looked around the house one last time on my own before emerging out into the front porch. I talked to the docents out there for a little while about the house, the neighborhood, and my own plans for next year when I'll transition from a long career into retirement and serving as a docent in a few museums in nearby Highlands County Florida. GREAT experience at the Palm Cottage !

We had just visited the Naples Pier when we noticed that the oldest house was having a free open house. It was such an interesting tour and the guides were so knowledgable and informative. We also watched a video featuring reflections from longtime Naples residents.

Very interesting tour. I recommend it as it gives you much information on the history of Naples, Florida.

Very interesting bit of history of the development of Naples. Our docent was excellent and very informative.

On our 1st trip to Naples we wanted to include some history. Palm Cottage was perfect. Our docent was knowledgeable and energetic. She was able to convey the personalities and spirit of the men who lived and played in Naples. Some information on the women and African Americans who supported these men would have been helpful in order to have a more well-rounded view of that time period, even though it was not the focus of the tour. We recommend that Palm Cottage be included on everyone's itinerary! Daphne

We joined another couple of friends to tour the cottage yesterday afternoon. The cottage tour was about an hour and brought the history of Naples to life as we toured the beautifully restored, oldest building in Naples. Our tour guide, Mark, really made the character of the building come alive with stories of the owners and how they formed the Naples community. Definitely a wonderful activity while in the area. Don’t hesitate to book a tour.

The house tour and interactive museum were both fascinating. I didn't know anything about the history of Naples. There was a lot of interesting information provided by, Julianna, our exceptional tour guide. Her breadth of knowledge, shared with an oftentimes humorous anecdote was very engaging. Highly recommend it to first time visitors and Naple residents.

This tour was great. There is so much interesting history in Naples and you hear about a lot of it on the trip. From buildings to streets to history of homes in the area, it's all here. The guide was fabulous.

Nancy was a great storyteller of Naples history. So many characters involved in its story. Don’t miss this “cottage gem”.

Girls afternoon out and this Tour started our day before a lunch on nearby Third Street. online ticket ordering was simple. Our Docent was Cissie, a joy to learn all about our Beautiful towns beginning. She was personable and so knowledgeable! Kept us totally engaged thruout the hour visit. Unfortunately the second floor is currently closed so we’ll return. They do offer water purchase at the beginning and there are bathrooms in a separate building. It is fully under air inside. The Palm Cottage is a Must See if you’d like to learn about the people that started our lovely town, So Interesting! Look forward to seeing the newest addition next door, the museum as well as the Christmas decorations this holiday season. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!

Had an excellent guide through this historic house. Wonderful introduction to the early history of Naples. Tour lasted over an hour.

Nancy was our excellent volunteer guide who toured us through Palm Cottage. Not only did we enjoy seeing the beautiful interior of the house, we learned a lot about the history of Naples. Highly recommended tour! Parking is a bit of a problem however; they do not have their own parking lot and the lot across the street fills up quickly. So be sure to get there early as there is a good chance you will have to find a parking spot on the street.

This two hour tour is an excellent way to learn about the history of Naples. The walk is slowly paced but still covers a lot of ground. The docent spoke clearly and loud enough and was really knowledgeable about the houses, providing interesting stories and plenty of facts.

Very enthusiastic guide with lots of interesting stories and history about the relatively young City of Naples. we thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour and the look through Palm Cottage.

This was an amazingly informative and beautiful museum. It truly captures a time in our history and the dedication and knowledge of the docents and volunteers adds to the experience. It may looks small from the outside but it is surprising big inside! Could easily spend an hour or more here, especially with the wonderful docents guiding us. Wish we had more time. Will definitely make the trip again in the future.

We had just parked and were on our way to visit the Pier when we "bumped" into the sign and entrance to the Palm Cottage and just decided to go in. As luck would have it, a tour was about to start in a few minutes. We quickly bought tickets ($6.50 each) and began what turned out to be an amazing tour.
The volunteer tour guide was both knowledgeable and lively. The origin and changes that this house underwent with all its furnishings and decorations are a fantastic introduction to the history and development of Naples.
The Norris Gardens are a more recent addition to the site and complement well the Palm Cottage.
This is a must for any visit to Naples.

Palm cottage guided tour was very interesting for anyone interested in Naples beginnings and historic buildings. Cottage is well preserved and of an interesting construction. Our guide, Jerry was knowledgeable and humorous. Enjoyed our tour immensely.

We visited the Palm Cottage with visitors in early March and all thoroughly enjoyed. Our docent was a well-informed gentleman and gave a delightful tour of the spacious cottage.
We found the many historical items from photos to furniture to the construction fascinating. The tour is an excellent hisorical perspective on the
birth" of Naples and the many people who were instrumental in the development and plans for this phenomenal city. Very worthwhile!!!!

It was great fun to visit this historic cottage and garden. it is well preserved and interesting to learn about the history of Naples.

What a fabulous experience. We have been coming to Naples for 20 years and learned so much. Julianne gave a detailed tour. I would highly recommend this tour.
Would recommend taking a bottle of water and wearing a hat and comfortable shoes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Old Naples/Palm Cottage walking tour. Our guide, Julianne Grace, was knowledgeable, personable, and entertaining. The fascinating history of Old Naples came alive for us as we wound around these streets. We are grateful for those who have preserved the ambiance of the 3rd Street South shopping and dining area and for those who have lovingly preserved the historical integrity of these early cottages. Well done.

One hour tour explains history of Naples. Tour guide was well informed and full of interesting facts about Naples. Well worth the price of admission.

I just wanted to see the house because of the walking involved. Beautiful place right in the heart of town.

Awesome tour of impeccably restored original cottage. Our docent Judi was the best. Extremely knowledgeable, very clearly spoken and entertaining narrative made the tour one of our favorites ever! W would definitely recommend to anyone visiting near the Naples Pier!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this most historic home. Be sure to take a tour so that you will learn more about the history of the home and of Naples.
On the property, you'll see a lovely garden and museum. Make time for all of this.

Very good tour led by Jerry. Very informative and we really appreciated all the history of Naples that was included. The film was also excellent. Very nice venue on a rainy day!

Loved the tour! Our tour guide (unfortunately her name is escaping me, maybe Jean?!) was wonderful. She brought the past to life in an animated and lively way. She was a true pro and gave us all a great sense of Old Naples history. The house is charming...complete with white picket fences, manicured lawns and cabana stripe awnings. Just how one imagines Old Naples to be! Thank you, a highlight of our time here!
I don't know why I waited so long
I have lived in Naples, FL for approx. 20 year. Shame on me for never visiting the Historic Palm Cottage until yesterday, basically to see the Christmas decorations. Having said that, it was more than expected. Cissy, our tour guide, was articulate and a wealth of information on the history of the cottage and Naples, in addition, she was fun. I learned so much and loved the decor of the cottage and the beautiful gardens. I would highly recommend tourists and locals who haven't visited the cottage to do so. You won't regret it. As an FYI, parking in front of the cottage and across the street is $2.50. You can either use a credit card or quarters only in the meter.
