Not what I expected but enjoyable and educational too. Anamials are very well kept & cared for. People are pleasant and friendly. Gift shop prices are not crazy either. Need to be sure to enough stock in all sizes. Had a great time!

A great place for families, especially for older kids. Very knowledgeable staff. Make sure you reserve your spot.

Words cannot express how amazing & memorable our experience was during our visit here yesterday! My native American zodiac sign is the wolf - I have always been fond of them since childhood, my husband and I decided to experience this for Valentine's Day and we were NOT disappointed. Michelle and Michael were an absolute gem as our tour guides - their knowledge and passion shows fiercely. These majestic beauties are insanely sweet and smart & a true delight to be around with! We will be back for sure, this time with our family.

Meeting these wolf dogs was a very interesting and fluffy experience. These wolf dogs are more friendly than many dogs I’ve met. I highly recommend this tour not only for the amazing experience of petting an animal that’s 98% wolf but also to learn about the plight of these majestic creatures.

Took my parents here last week, had a great time! You get face to face w/ wolves, petting them & great opportunities for taking pix. If youre lucky, there may be a young pup, super cute!
You learn alot while while having a great time. Pls come out to support this non-profit rescue.Bring some raw meat too - you cant feed them, but it helps the cause.

Pros: Your able to observe, walk, & pet the wolves. Very informative talks about them. The place is kept clean.
Cons: Appointments have to be made to visit. Operates on donations, but are told that it is $20. a person. Visits are only one (1) hour.long.

Everything about this place was great. Easy to make a reservation, tour started right on time, great guides, but most of all the animals were wonderful. It was amazing to be able to be so close to them and love on them. I felt very comfortable and can’t wait to go back. The gift shop was very reasonable also.

This wolf dogs were beautiful, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was an hour and we learned a lot. It was amazing to get close to these animals and interact with them.

absolutely 5 stars beautiful animals and so very interesting. bring a pack of hot dogs for treats as these critters love their goodies. (: although you cant feed them the handlers will do it for you...

Our visit was long time in the works, having wanted to visit for a number of years. The stars aligned and we had a picture perfect weather day. Before entering the enclosures we were given an orientation on what we should expect, our can and cannot dos. Kind of unnerving and exciting. We then entered a pen before the enclosure (for safety). We did this three times with multiple sets of animals. They were majestic. Our guide Tina was knowledgeable and fast to answer our questions. HWF does a wonderful job at educating the average person, that these huge powerful dogs are not the average house pet. A fantastic experience that I can’t recommend more. Loved it. Can’t wait to go back in winter to see them in their winter coats. And yes, you can touch some of the wolf dogs, it’s completely interactive. If you’re afraid of dogs, I don’t think you should do this.

Experience an awesome way to get up close and personal with wolf dogs and various hybrids! An outdoor activity, in serveral enclosed pens. Dress warmly in the winter months. The wolves are curious and playful with your clothing. See the website for the dress code. You spend about an hour outdoors. Donations are your entrance fee. $20.00 per adult and $10.00 for kids under 13. Reservations are required in advance. We also brought meat, chicken and block cheese for donations. Best part is being able to touch and interact with the wolf dogs! You can take lots of pictures and videos. You can get dirty, we went after it rained a few days. You could get lots of drooly kisses! There's a cute little shop to purchase t-shirts, hoodies, and goods. The guides and volunteers are very helpful and informative. My 13 year old son enjoyed it immensely! Some are as big as the famed dire wolves from Game of Thrones! They are amazing in person! Movie stars as well in Disney's Sorcerers Apprentice! A great family trip for wolf and dog lovers!

Our guide, Tina, was interesting, informative, and funny. I learned a lot about wolf dogs—they come in many mixes, colors, sizes, etc. I got kisses and whuffles, got to pet a bunch of them, would go back tomorrow if I could! The tour moved along quickly, but everybody got to interact with the wolf dogs, and Tina’s helpers took lots of great pics! Highly recommend!!

I enjoyed my visit to Howling Woods. Prior to this, I had visited Lakota Wolf Preserve, where I was able to see wolves from afar. I expected my visit to Howling Woods to be similar, but was surprised to see photos of people posing with wolves (who I later learned were wolf dogs)! I was so excited for my visit, and it did not disappoint. Interacting with the wolf dogs was such a fun experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. On my visit, it was a bit hot outside, so some of the wolf wolfdogs seemed a bit tired from the heat. The guide shared with us that the wolf wolfdogs are more active in the winter time, which makes total sense, so I'll be back then.

So much fun getting up close to these animals. Really interesting and a good cause. The animals are well cared for and the staff/volunteers are very knowlegable.

4 of us went yesterday to see the Wolves, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. You spend an hour getting to know the wolves their stories and you get a few photo opportunities. All in all it was really COOL!

My husband and I made the trip to Howling Woods Farm after hearing about the farm through friends. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about these animals and very warm and welcoming. Our hour long tour was guided through three different pens, with wolves and various high to low content wolf dogs inside. We got to take pictures and learn so much about the different animals. I highly recommend HWF to anyone looking for a unique and truly wonderful experience with these creatures.

The wolf-dogs are absolutely gorgeous and you get to interact with many of them. I had the opportunity to get lots and lots of amazing pictures with them. The tour is filled with interesting facts and stories about the wolf-dogs. I highly recommend Howling Woods Farm to anyone, especially animal lovers.
I wish I could remember my tour guide's name because she was great! She was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly! I think she mentioned she was a teacher or something like that.
It makes me so happy that there are people out there willing to devote their lives to these animals. The owners and volunteers clearly care deeply about the well being of each and every wolf-dog. When you purchase your ticket, don't think of it as a purchase for entertainment. You are DONATING to help take care of these magnificent creatures.

Great experience! These animals are beautiful and playful! Very happy that the donations go directly to the farm/animals. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Visited this place this past week and had one incredible experience. My love for wolves brought me here as this would be the closest thing to an actual wolf. These wolf dogs were so social and gentle. Even as hot as it was they still walked around and wanted to be petted and pose for pics. The education the staff provided was on point. The fact that people think they can be "cool" and have a pet like this is sad. Thank God for places like this to rescue these beautiful animals. I will make it a point to go back again. If I only lived closer I would volunteer my time as often as I could. Please visit this place you won't soon forget it.

Well worth the trip. All donations go directly to the care of the animals. Plan to make this a semi annual event. Not only is the experience with the animals a thrill but the guides offer information that is informative and educational. The site is clean and well cared for. Dress for the weather and experience the call of the wild up close.

Howling Woods farm is interactive experience! Learn about wolves and interact with them. Very friendly and love to be petted. It was an awesome experience. Staff is knowledgable and the farm is ran on donations. Excellent hour tour.

This was a great experience. I highly recommend. Staff was informative & nice. Animals were amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the wolf farm. The wolves were gorgeous and it was fun to see them roaming freely in their habitat. Some highlights included petting them, watching them howl, and hearing their jaws snap as they ate their beef. Such a cool experience!

I heard about this from a friend and was a little unsure exactly what I would find. From the moment of arrival, this place just was more and more impressive! So much wonderful information was provided and my group and I learned so much. The animals were incredible and very friendly. The staff of volunteers were so nice, and kind. They took the time to answer every question and were very accommodating and understanding. The work these people are doing for these beautiful animals is spectacular and every dime spent there helps another animal be saved. We are very excited to plan our next visit.

My family of six (kids 22, 20, 18, 16) went here with my sister's family (kids 19,16) to visit the wolfdogs. We had called to set up an appointment and Megan, our tour guide, was wonderfully knowledgeable and did an excellent job explaining how Howling Woods acquires the dogs and how they take care of them. It was an incredible experience and we all said we felt like we were standing in the middle of Yellowstone Park with wolves. The wolves are gorgeous and more wary of you than you are of them. We got incredible pictures and it was something that all of my kids said they were so happy they got to experience. Wear old clothing and shoes. Watch the videos before you go to give you an idea of what your experience will be like. You can have as much or as little interaction with the wolves as you want. I recommend a lot of interaction as it is truly wonderful!

I've called a few times to try to get my partner and myself in for a tour, they don't answer their phones so prepare to leave a voicemail. Even after you do that don't wait for a call back as you probably won't get one. When they do finally call you back after a few voicemails are left, the person is VERY rude and demanding, so be prepared if you're trying to ask questions to be bulldozed over. They do NOT work with you what so ever. Please don't waste your time in trying to go here and book a tour, it is pointless!! Spend your money elsewhere where it will be appreciated with a friendlier atmosphere.

I visited Howling Woods and had the best time! I was able to interact with a few of their beautiful animals on a gorgeous day. My tour guide was very informative and pleasant. It was truly a great time and will do it again and again.

Three of my friends and I went there today...Two of us have been there before. Today was wonderful. It is a great time of the year to go. The wolves like the cooler weather and really interacted with us. The guides are wonderful!!! We took lots of wonderful pictures, the wolves were "so cooperative and friendly". They also have great gifts in their gift shop if you are looking for some unusual Xmas gifts. It is certainly going to a great cause!!!

I planned a trip to 6 Flags and since I was coming all the way from CT I wanted to make the best of it and I absolutely love animals so I called these people a few times with no answers finally I wrote an email with some questions got responses and left my number for them to call to schedule an appointment. So first of all they call me at about 9 p.m. and we planned to leave really early the next day for our 4 hour drive so I was already asleep I answer the phone and I'm talking to this guy and he say "what were you sleeping or something" and I replied yes his response was "oh"... not sorry but just oh smh so then after an awkward conversation which he made it seem like I was an inconvenience instead of a customer I get an appointment for the next day. Unfortunately I was unable to make it to NJ do to an emergency as soon as I was able to I emailed him apologizing for missing my appointment and explained that there had been an emergency but I intended to try to make it down the next day and the response I got was "if we make an appointment for you tomorrow or in the future we will require a 50% deposit by credit card over the phone"... how do you make someone pay 50% of a donation? But besides that no sympathy nothing just rude throughout the whole process.

Trust the positive reviews! This place is wonderful and the staff is really nice and knowledgeable. You get to meet some of the wolfdogs and have your picture taken with them. You learn where they were obtained from (usually failed pets) and a few of them have been in a movie! There are some rules you need to follow, also an appt is necessary and a "donation" that goes 100% to the facility and the caring of the animals. It's only about an hour tour and doesn't eat up a whole day. Just a great place!

This place is soo cool because you can get up close to the closest thing to a wolf that is legal! My favorite wolf was Raven because he looked like a Belgian Sheepdog . Overall this is a great place to go if you are a big fan of dogs and helping Wolf dogs

It was great to see wolf dogs as they are as close as I will get to a wolf. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly and engaged the group. The tour should limit the amount of people per group especially during this pandemic and so that everyone can have a chance to interact and have a picture with the wolf dogs. My group was large and no one cared to move on and allow the others a chance to be around the wolf dogs. The videos posted on your site were encouraging as to having a great interaction with the wolf dogs but unfortunately that was not my experience. I will tell family and friends about this organization and encourage them to visit. The wolf dogs are beautiful.

I had been wanting to check out Howling Woods for awhile, we finally found time to experience it last summer. I was amazed at the staff as well as the wolf dogs.....so so soooooo much information to take in, and you get to interact with the animals while doing it. You can take as many pictures as you like, and ask as many questions as well. We can't wait to go back, my mother in law wants to join us this time around!

What an experience to see and interact with these magnificent animals. Their appearance showed they were well cared for. The staff showed their knowledge by talking about the wolf dogs. Questions were answered freely. We had a wonderful time and plan on returning in the spring.

Make sure you read the rules and don't wear/bring anything that you're not supposed to. Guide was good. Make sure all people in your party are on the reservation or you may have a problem on a weekend. Also make sure you are aware that you will be in w/the animals, this is not a tour where you see them from afar.

Had a great time! Learned so much about wolves and fell in love with them! So cool to be able to pet them! I plan on going back again!

Really enjoyed out tour here. Very informative and the animals are just beautiful. Nice gift shop as well.

My grandson and I had a great time meeting and learning about wolf dogs. They are a wonderful organization that treat animals with respect, kindness and great understanding . It was a wonderful experience.

Really enjoyed the tour at Howling Woods Farm. The crew was so knowledgeable about these amazing animals. Thanks to them all for providing such an educational experience. Probably one of the very few, if not only place in NJ where you can be face to snout with these beasts and pet them as if they are your lap dog. Definitely dress warm if heading out during winter months. The Farm requests you not wear fur, leather or down as the wolves might see those fabrics as chew toys. Riding hoods, especially red ones, are also strongly discouraged :)

It was very interesting to learn a little about the wolf dogs and be able to get up close and personal. The tour consisted of our group going from enclosure to attached enclosure, learning some general facts and some info about each animal, and then lining up for photo ops with the wolf dogs. So while we got some great pics with our party of four, it did seem like a lot of the time was spent staging and taking photos so that everyone in the group (maybe about 20 people?) would have the chance to have a photo op. The staff were very helpful in taking the pics.
The best part was probably the group “howl”. The worst might be the port o’john at the entrance, although we did not have to make a visit there. Young children cannot visit - check the age rules based on day of the week. (Which was a little surprising since these wolf dogs make library visits and some very young kids get to go pretty close at these events.) You must make a reservation and weekends book up fast. There are also rules and regs about footwear, leather, and dangling objects so go prepared and you will have a good trip!

This is not a summer activity. The wolf-dogs are much more active in cooler weather. When we drove up we realized we were going to someones house. I was a little unsure about this place till we got inside. The set-up is nice and the animals seem well cared for. The volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly. It is nice to interact with these animals. You can walk in their enclosures, pet them and take photos with them. The tour takes about and hour and the guides tell you a bit about each wolf-dog. They also have adoptable wolf-dogs there too. Cool place to check out and the donations help a good cause.

I found out about this place via my friends posting pictures over instagram. I couldn't believe they actually allow you to go into the wolves pens and pet them, so of course I had to check it out for myself being the dog lover I am. A man answered the phone when I made my appointment, and he seemed to rush me through the process of making an appointment, it was a little confusing and seemed unorganized and there are some restrictions. I had to call a few times before anyone answered, I left messages but no one got back to me. I was told to bring food but you can't feed the dogs. After the appointment making process I wasn't sure what to expect. When I arrived I was pleasantly greeted by my tour guide Donna. There seems to be a disconnect between the office and who actually gives you the tour, the tour guide was very friendly and welcoming.
The dogs are stunning and friendly. You are taken through 3 pens and you get to meet around 10 wolf hybrids. They give kisses, roll over for belly rubs, and the guides will pose them so you can get pictures of yourself with the wolf. The guide explains how the rescue works and where each wolf came from.
Overall, the experience is absolutely amazing and a must see for any animal lover. Making an appointment can be annoying, but when you get there the experience is worth it.

We visited Howling Wolf and would highly recommend it to anyone ! Colleen our tour guide was exceptional ! She was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and informative ! You get to interact ,pet , touch and take pictures with these incredible and beautiful animals !

We visited Howling Woods Farm, a wolf sanctuary, today and had a wonderful time. The wolves were comfortable around people and we were able to get up-close and pet them. Hearing them all howl in unison was a great experience. We got lots of nice pictures, including us with the wolves because they posed nicely upon the platforms. Our tour guide Priscilla was very knowledgeable and Coleen also helped out. There is a cute little gift shop as well with various things for sale.

The tour was excellent, but it happened on a VERY cold afternoon so most folks were freezing (though the pups were clearly enjoying the cold) so make sure to dress for the weather as it is all outdoors. The tour guides were excellent--are clearly bonded to the animals--but a lot of the tour was fairly repetitive. While I understand that they are working hard to dispel the misinformation that wolves and wolf/dog hybrids are vicious, this message was repeated SO often that I felt myself tune out a bit. What might be better is to highlight even more interesting facts about wolves in the wild. The animals are incredible and it was a delight to be able to touch them under the watchful eyes of the staff. Please give Naiche a few extra skritches from me!

This place is really fantastic. A nice surprise in the middle of New Jersey. Knowledgeable volunteer tour guides, lots of wolfdogs to play with, great photos, fun for everyone. Your donation goes to providing food, shelter, and rescue for some beautiful creatures... A must see!

My daughter (aged 12) asked to "pet a wolf" for Christmas last year. This farm was the closest place to do it from where we live, in PA. The $20 donation per person goes straight to care for these beautiful animals. Hannah, the guide was wonderful and full of information and fun facts about each wolf.
The wolves are beautiful and friendly (if you follow the directions posted). Unfortunately, it rained the day we went, so rain boots were a must as it's very muddy in each pen. I would highly recommend if you love wolves and we plan to return during a winter season when their coats are full!

Reservations should be made weeks in advance. I came with a large group, and I want to commend the staff for accommodating us and making the tour fun for everyone. Our guide was Priscilla and she did an amazing job. I learned so much from her, and we met several beautiful wolfdogs. Because the heat was sweltering when we went, and one of their wolfdogs sadly just passed away, Priscilla said the animals weren’t acting like their normal selves. However, they were still up for meeting us and letting us pet them. It is so sad what happened in the past to some of these wolfdogs, and Howling Woods is doing an incredible job by caring for them. Despite our large group, Priscilla made sure everyone got a picture with the wolfdogs. Everyone had a great time and the thanks really goes to Howling Woods and the volunteers that work there. It was definitely a unique experience, and I think it’s the only place in NJ where you can pet the wolfdogs.

Incredible experience. The girls giving the tour are excellent and well educated. The animals are so friendly and beautiful. Excellent day trip!

There are so few things to do in NJ that are once in a lifetime opportunities and this is by far one of the most interesting and exciting adventures I've had. I read some reviews before I went and most were positive but a couple struck me by surprise especially after seeing and hearing about what this facility does for these animals. These are not 100% wolves, they are wolf dogs which is why we can go in their pens and socialize with them. Anyone going in there expecting to socialize with a purebred wolf is barking up the wrong tree. These animals have been rescued from all walks of life including fur farms (sad but true). Worth every penny, I'd do it again and have recommended many friends to go--A++

My husband brought me here for Valentine's Day, knowing how much I love wolves. We are both huge animal lovers for that matter! The women who gave the tour were very knowledgeable, interesting, and engaging. Educating the public about the plight of wolves, as well as wolf dog hybrids is very important. The animals all looked healthy, happy, and well cared for. The tour guides (I'm sorry, I'm terrible at remembering names) knew each of the wolf dogs individual personalities, and it was obvious that they care deeply for them. I highly recommend taking a tour of their facility! Great time!

My girlfriend and I visit in November and had an amazing time. The hybrids were absolutely beautiful, and our guides educated us along the way!

The pictures taken were really great! The animals are so gentle and loving. No scarves or loose gloves...….they will become a toy. So funny!

You can really tell they care about the wolves here. If I remember correctly its about a $20 donation and you can meet and touch the wolves. As well as get a picture with them. I learned a lot when I was here and would recommend to all animal lovers.

If you're looking for something different to do with your kids, here's the answer. Need to call and make reservations for tour.

This is a small wolf rescue. It is great. Definitely worth going. Educational and fun. Call to schedule a tour.

The tour was interesting and my son and I enjoyed it very much! We liked the howling the best. Got a bunch of cool pictures too.

Awesome! This is about an hour long tour with a small group of people . The guides are volunteers but they really love what they do. We got to walk with wolves who were so gentle. They roll in their backs so you can rub their tummies. They act like dogs, they play , they sniff you and sometimes they drool on you. Don't wear good clothes, dress comfortable. Bring a camera and that's all you need. The best part was when the wolves started howling. It was so beautiful. An amazing trip!

We have visited the farm a few times and always learn something new. The volunteers are always prepared with information about the wolves and also with plenty of treats for them too. It was amazing to see them howl in unison and taking pictures with them was awesome. We will be going back. Don't miss an opportunity to visit and learn about their behavior and how they are totally misunderstood.

We went to Howling Woods Farm for the 11am tour and boy did we have a blast! The staff was extremely friendly and the wolves were amazing majestic animals. The tour allowed us to take multiple pictures bond with the animals and learn a little more about how the farm works. They even cut me a discount on some HWF merch, loved it! 10/10

Our experience at Howling Woods Farm was a dream come true! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very compassionate towards the animals! We were able to pet the Wolves and take plenty of pictures with them. We even howled with them! We can't wait to go back!

I went today with 5 boys aged 10-12. It was remarkable. The animals are gentle and beautiful. No need to fear these magnificent animals. Our guide was patient and articulate. It was a wonderful day and a must do for all animal lovers.

Took my family here a while back. It was a great experience and we all loved the wolves here. The staff was great and very informative. The sanctuary is well kept and the wolves are beautiful. Highly recommend for animal lovers.

I've lived a couple doors down from this place for 15 years and got a kick out of the howling chorus at various times of the day and night. Would've been a bit worried if I was walking in the woods alone! Finally took the tour after I found out my niece's new beau works there. Great experience! Turns out they weren't howling from hunger but it's just a "social" thing.

This place was fantastic!!! I had no idea what to expect but i had always wanted to be able to interact with wolves. It was easy to find and the staff was absolutely great!
The tour is about an hour or a little more. They bring you into different area of there outdoor facility where different wolf dogs are kept. They give you a lot of educational information while they and even you get to interact with these beautiful animals. Truly amazing and educational experience.
What i loved the most was how the wolf dogs adored and respected the staff. You could tell they were loved and treated very well.

We went with My Grandsons, my Daughters and family to a wonderful, magical place in the The Pinelands of Jackson NJ. Howling Woods Farm was one of the great animal rescue places, I've ever visited in my 72 years! the Staff of Volunteers had such a great rapport with the WolfDogs and let them show off how when you treat them with love they return it.. much like a doggie! these beautiful animals are mostly Wolf as determined by DNA testing. It was such a great family experience that even my youngest Grandson that is ADHD ( the tour guide called him a jumping bean) even calmed down when he got to pet these magnificent creatures! The Trip was for my Youngest Daughter for her 37th Birthday Gift from her sister & Family (she is an Anthropologist and has an MA in Museum Science) The whole experience was well worth the trip to learn and enjoy these Magnificent Animals!

Had an awesome time with my family. Will be returning to visit again! The staff are spectacular and you can see they are very caring people. My elderly parents were helped every step of the way by Jeff. They are doing a wonderful thing at this facility. Very informative.

My son took me today to see these amazing wolf dogs and I enjoyed every second of it. The 2 female tour guides were very knowledgeable, caring and patient. The wolf dogs were happy, sociable and well cared for. We were able to take as many pictures/videos that we wanted. I can't wait to plan a return visit with my other son and friends. It was an amazing experience!!!

Do you love wolves? Or dogs? If so, you will adore this sanctuary for "high content" wolf dogs. These rescued animals clearly receive a lot of love and high quality care from the workers. Reserve your tour time in advance. Your tour will consist of one leader and several volunteer helpers, and about 15 guests (I did not count but that seems about right). Expect to learn about the different features of wolves and dogs in a highly educational presentation, while wolf-dogs (of various proportions of wolf to dog) frolic around you and allow you to pet them and take your photo with them. The animals are very friendly and playful. You never forget they are part wolf, however; you are instructed that you cannot wear fur or anything dangling when you enter the enclosure (the wolves will want it), and we watched a wolf-dog greatly enjoying a snack of Leg of Deer. This has to be one of the most magical experiences so readily available to anyone who loves wolves or dogs. Wolves are elusive in the wild, but these wolf-dog hybrids brush up against you and let you pet them.

It's a great place to visit if you like animals. It's by appointment only so you need to call in advance. The tour itself is very quick (about an hour) but you are able to come close to the ambassador wolfdogs and learn about them! We went recently in the summer and plan to go back again in the winter as the wolfdogs prefer colder weather. They are amazing animals and it's great to be able to interact with them. Best part of the tour is when you howl in the pack... and they join in!!!

Fantastic experience. Staff is incredibly kind and eager to share their knowledge. Learned a lot about wolf dogs and getting to pet them and take pictures with them was amazing!

We were three adults, my wife, brother-in-law, and me. The tour and interaction with the wolf-dogs was delightful. This is well worth the visit. Highly recommended!

It was our first time going and we have to say that it was a very unique experience. We got to touch and take many pictures with the wolf hybrids.

I visited with my boyfriend earlier this month and we loved getting to interact with the wolfdogs. They were so friendly and loved being with people. It was awesome we were able to get many pictures and learn so much about wolves we didn't already know. The place houses many wolves you can't even seen allll the cages from the tour. Would definitely recommend and have already!

Such a fun time! Went for a bday visit last minute and the staff was very accommodating to our schedule. Wolves are so beautiful and friendly!

Howling Woods Farm is a rescue for wolf/dog hybrids. It seems that people breed them, people buy them, and then they suddenly discover that wolves are not always the best family pets. Go figure.
Howling Woods Farms does its best to pick up the pieces. Some of the wolf hybrids can be relatively tame under controlled circumstances, and these are allowed to mingle with the guests for photo ops and selfies. Meanwhile, the owners/volunteers give background on wolf and wolf hybrid behaviors. There are several separate enclosures and guests are moved along between them and given a chance to meet several groups of animals. It is great fun and you can come up close and personal and touch them. The animals are not restrained so it is their choice whether they are in the mood at any given time.
Although the wolf hybrids are free to move around the enclosure, they are offered various treats to show basic behaviors and to come pose for pictures. Everyone is moved along quickly, as each tour is only an hour, but they make sure to give each person an opportunity for a quick snapshot with them as well as plenty of other candid shots as they interact.
The enclosures are gated, with high fences above and below the earth. The people running it are very strict as to what you can bring in (no puffy jackets, real or fake fur, hanging straps or bags, open shoes, etc.)
There is a little souvenir shop with T-shirts, mugs and few other items. Restroom facilities is one portable john outside, so plan accordingly.

I visited with my teenage daughter and her friend as a birthday treat. It was truly very special - the animals are majestic and beautiful. We strolled through several different enclosures, meeting the various inhabitants along the way. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and able to give us each of the animal's stories - some of them heart-rending. It was fascinating to observe the differing 'personalities' and pack dynamics, and to be so graciously accepted by these magnificent beasts. We will definitely be back again soon!

What an amazing experience! The tour guides share so much knowledge and personal experiences with the wolves that you can't help but leave with more information and respect than when you arrived. Meeting the wolves for petting and picture taking is the icing on the cake! What amazing animals these are and they deserve our respect!

I was with a group of six - two of whom have been here many times before. I was quite unprepared for the experience. I didn't realize that we would actually be in the pen with the wolves and that all of them were able to handle visitors. Honestly couldn't believe my experience. The lecture given on the tour was both informative and interesting and any questions the group asked were answered immediately. I would recommend this experience to anyone who loves animals. Children over ten would my suggestions - those who respect and treat animals fairly and listen to all rules stated. It was well woth the hour ride down from Bergen County.

This is a great experience and encourage anyone to go.
A couple cons though, planning was a little difficult, I felt like the person who I was speaking with didn't have the time. You can bring food for the dogs but don't feed them. And although it says on their website there is no fee and only donations, as you are signing the waiver they ask for payments.

This place was awesome , we had a great time. The wolves were fun, they interacted nicely, and seemed very tame. Everyone here seemed very nice. Great place!!

THE MOST EDUCATIVE AND BEAUTIFUL TOUR EVER!!! I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!

I went with my family and met old friends for the day. A very informative visit and I got to pet a wolf! It is a great day trip.

It's illegal to sell wolves, but somehow a wolf pup needs Rescue from an inappropriate home, or part-wolf/part-dog litters are born. Howling Woods is a rescue, a rehab and an educational organization that we greatly enjoyed. Guided tours and knowledgable volunteers were excellent. Must make reservations. Wear sensible shoes without laces or tassles, and you probably don't want to carry a purse or camera bag, as some of the residents may play Grab-and-Keepaway! Photo ops and a sample howl at the end of the tour. Gift shop purchases benefit the animals, who consume a large amount of raw meat! It was the highlight of the trip for my friends from England.

$20 donation per person for an hour - you get to pet the 6 hybrid-wolves they have. Very passionate and informative guides tell us a lot of facts about wolves. Sadly they also tell us about the plight of what wolves are going through in the wild. Animal and dog lovers will enjoy this. Even if you don’t love dogs, go to learn and to develop empathy for them. I ended up contributing more than $20 because I really want to help as much as I can. Great experience!

This place was fantastic! Lots to learn, they really take care of the animals and seem to keep them all very happy and healthy! The picture taking and hanging out in their was incredible!

So my visit was a little different. I rescued a wolf and brought it to the sanctuary. But I also got a guided tour so here we go!
I had really great, fun time with really well cared for and obviously happy wolves and a few coydogs. I've been to a few sanctuaries and this is the most interactive. You really fall in love with these creatures after a few hours here and you learn very quickly that wolves are big fluffy goofballs!!! There is an age restriction for a true interactive experience NOT because they are dangerous but because they are such goofballs they want to bump into you and the workers are afraid to have them bump into children and knock them over. So just be aware of the restrictions but still have no fear.
The staff is very knowledgeable and it is incredibly evident throughout my time here they truly care about the animals here and take outstanding care of them. They also have a really cool gift shop. I have become pretty close with Debbie and Colleen here. Most wonderful people you could ever meet.
The sanctuary is run and paid for fully by donations and the cost of the tours, so I like to donate. I buy quarter cows and pigs every year so I ask the butcher to save everything and I donate all the quality trimmings to the sanctuary. These big boys and girls eat a lot! So please consider that when you visit.
I love this place and plan to go back a few times.

We got to interact with the wolf hybrids in their enclosures. A great experience!! Got tons of photos and learned about the wolf dogs. Recommend bringing wipes to clean hands afterwards. They only have a porter potty on the property. Highly recommend going!

Amazing opportunity to interact with wolfdogs in a natural setting. No other animal experience with wolfdogs is available in the Northeast. One of my top 100 Things to Do at the Jersey Shore. It was a great informative and immersive experience. The animals were wonderful and each one had a different personality. The instructor was very knowledgeable and funny. I will definitely be returning.

what an interesting and beautiful sight to see. Most of the animals here are Wolf-dogs, and some are so sweet. it was an experience to see a creature so up close that is usually feared more than revered.
Amazing experience!
The staff are all wonderful people. Our guide was Danielle. The wolves are a bit intimidating at first but it took about 5 minutes to see they were not scary at all. Just very huge! Well taken care of by an all volunteer staff that works very hard. It is an unforgettable experience and we will be back!
