The Island Queen

By Mary D |

This is a pleasant ride to the Vineyard. Parking is close by for a price. One on the Island Queen you enjoy the cruise either on deck or in a covered area. Bikes allowed but not sure of pets. There is a snack bar available. It's great ride and the Island has lots to do.

Ferry to Vineyard

By guseboy |

If your looking to get to Martha’s Vineyard from Falmouth this is your best option. For $22, you get a round trip ticket with a great ship and great service all in 30 min time. You are going to need to buy your tickets ahead of time at the Falmouth dock so you are guaranteed a spot. When coming back you need to be at the dock 30 - 45 min before departure. Parking is $20 cash only in Falmouth. You might want to look at their website for info. Enjoy!

Ferry ride

We rode a noon ride out and visited Martha’s Vineyard then rode the 5:15 back. Smooth rides both times, and the ship and rest rooms were clean both ways. Courteous staff and good rates. We would recommend the island queen to anyone.

Great!

By jennifer821 |

The ferry was clean and prompt. We were comfortable and the trip to Oak Bluffs was pretty quick. Highly recommend!

Great Day Trip

By Alicia W |

I wanted to share a childhood memory with my boys by taking them on the Island Queen for a quick day trip. It was great and a beautiful memory!

Smooth passenger Ferry from Falmouth to Martha’s Vineyard, MA.

By Gillian C |

Great ferry. Great crew. Lots of super view seats. Restrooms and food.
Approx. 35 minutes to Oak Bluffs from Falmouth. Limited departures however. Passenger only ferry.
We stayed in Falmouth so to have a $20.00/day parking lot and only 5 minutes drive from hotel was super. Everything was smooth. All crew and ticket agents were helpful and having a sunny day was perfect.Highly recommend.

Easy ferry to the island

By deacon1957 |

Took the first trip on a Sat. right after Memorial day so it was not crowded. Very foggy both to and from, but never felt concern. Sat on top deck on way over and saw the crew was on top of the weather. Very professional. Easy walk from our hotel so it was a very pleasant trip. Nice but not fancy boat. A nice and easy trip.

Quick comfortable ride

Great way to Daytrip to MV

By Sarah Murray |

Easy 35 min trip to MV. Last two boats coming back can be crowded/full during peak. Parking makes this a great option.

Wonderful experience

By jnbrewer3102 |

The boat ride was beautiful. It was foggy but, the staff and crew were well prepared and made it a priority to inform us of the fog horn being blown. My family had a great time.

Super efficient !

By Margie L |

Well-run operation! Staff was courteous and friendly. On time arrival and departure with plenty of comfortable seating.

Fast and efficient

By Sheryl2013 |

The Island Queen was an excellent means of transportation to Martha's Vineyard. We purchased our tickets at our hotel, The Red Horse Inn so not so knowledgeable about ticketing procedures through the ferry company. Got there 45 minutes before boarding as was recommended in other reviews and had no problem. Would definitely recommend being back 45 minutes to and hour before you want to return from the Island as it does fill quickly. A great experience for us.

Great ferry company

By Jax S |

Very efficient ferry service from Falmouth to Martha’s Vineyard. Ferries ran on time, we’re clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly.

Best way to visit the Vineyard

By capecodtravellers |

This takes about 40 minutes and is a lovely trip across Vineyard Sound...no cars on board, no pollution. It lands at Oak Bluffs, one of the historic areas, and is in close proximity to bus line that goes to Edgartown as well as Vineyard Haven.

Very efficient

By Don50VailAZ |

Ferry was clean staff were pleasant and helpful. $22 dollars round trip + additional charge for bike, etc. about a 40-45 minute trip from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard.

The Island Queen has ample parking, stays on schedule and takes you on a pleasant ride to the Island. Its affordable price makes it a great value.

Good way to get to Martha’s Vineyard

By Maurice L |

Very popular at the time of our trip i.e 1st ferry of the day and 3.45 return. Enough seats although very windy on return crossing. Nothing fancy but does the job! Watch out that they stick to schedule so make sure you turn up in time!

Wonderful experience

By smedesi |

Easy and enjoyable trip from Falmouth to Oaks Bluff. Staff was wonderful and polite. When they suggest getting their 45 minutes before your desired trip, make sure you do so within the main season or you cannot be guaranteed a seat. First come, first served.

Easy

By rsoxgirl |

This is a great ferry service. They have a large parking lot 200 yards from the dock which charges $15 per day cash only. The ferries were precisely on time, and have a snack bar on board.

Book this ferry to get to Martha’s Vineyard - best affordable option for sure!!

By Pam |

Cannot stress enough how much I was so thankful we booked this ferry to get to Martha’s Vineyard instead of the steamship, which was our original plan. Happened to walk upon the ferry the day before we were headed to Martha’s Vineyard. Spoke to the very nice staff who showed us the schedule and made us feel like more than just one of herd. I was happily surprised that the price was not much more than steamship authority, and the boat seemed more relaxing, and less stressful. The parking was far more convenient with the island queen than anywhere else and a stress-free event. Parking super close walkable distance to ferry as opposed to parking somewhere else and getting shuttled like the other places. Easily the best pedestrian choice!!!

Great Transit

By Foxpaw51 |

yes, crew and vessel have our blessings . Detroit Power, Uniforms, schedule, this is how transportation should work. Glad the piers, bulk heading and facilities all were maintained too. Little tight in there for the small boat ahead of the island queen though..
Thanks crew. good job

Comfortable ride!

By marcar154 |

We rode from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard. This was our first time. There was seating inside and out. We sat outside and met other travelers. The trip across was enjoyable and uneventful. Everyone on board was courteous.

Good experience

By TravelingBum10 |

We did a round trip on the ferry. We had to pay $20 cash to park. Ferry harbor was only a block away. It’s very affordable. Their bathrooms are small but clean. Only 30 minutes to Martha’s Vineyard.

Great way to get to MV

By Sean M |

The Island Queen is a great option for getting from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard if you aren't bringing a car over. Parking is located near (150 yards) the dock fair a fee of $15 per day

Easy, friendly and good value

By D-Mitchell68 |

The ferry service is easy to access, lots of parking ($20 for the day) and run to schedule to allow a great day out in Martha's Vineyard. Well organised, helpful staff and a great day out!

Well run ferry service

By Vinefera |

Get the early boat, sit up on deck. Sight see on the Vineyard all day. Gingerbread houses. Take bus to Edgartown get an Iced coffee to sip while waiting for return boat in the hot parking lot. They really should invest in a canopy.

Great way to see Martha’s Vineyard

By run4rfun |

Straight forward fairy ride to Martha’s Vineyard. Easy ride over. Snacks on board and ran exactly on time...
We had a great day trip thanks to the Island Queen.

Prompt and professional

By pitts6534 |

This is a wonderful, and inexpensive day trip for the entire family. The ferry is clean and well managed. The prices are pretty exceptional as well!

Mimosa was $6...

Get off the ferry and hop on the public bus. You can’t go wrong.

On the way back the ferry is prompt and comforting!

"Cash Only?" Not Today

By ChanEvan |

Several Reviews state that the Island Queen is Cash Only ~
PLEASE NOTE THAT I BOUGHT TICKETS USING A MASTERCARD.

I've ridden the Island Queen many times, & today was the least windy. It was a pleasant 73-degrees, & the day trip to Martha's Vineyard was most enjoyable.

Tip::
On your Return Trip to Falmouth or Woods Hole, the next-to-last Ferry usually has room if you arrive 15-20 minutes early. On busy days, I suggest arriving 30+ minutes early for the LAST Ferry.

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE

By carolsplaces2018 |

This is well worth booking in advance and very well organised. My daughter and I loved it and highly recommend.

great way to go

By jeffrey k |

easy access on mainland in Falmouth. you can do a dropoff and then park in a guarded lot about 200 m away (currently $15/weekday). comfortable waiting areas, boat is comfortable, clean, efficient. staff friendly and helpful. great trip.

Convenient Travel to MV

By foodfinder |

We took the Island Queen in the morning and it couldn’t have been more convenient to get us to the island. The ferry leaves Falmouth and about 40 minutes later arrives in Oak Bluffs. They ask you to be there 45 minutes early to guarantee your spit on the ship, as tickets are open ended, but there is limited seating in the shade in Falmouth and none on the island. My only complaint is that the last ferry back is at 6:45pm on weekdays, so you cannot even get dinner on the island, otherwise I would’ve given it 5 stars. But for $22 round trip, you can’t really beat it.

It Gets You There

By Philip M |

If you are going to Martha's Vineyard from Falmouth this is the way to do it. They are very well organized and fun very close to schedule. I have also witnessed that they give stragglers every chance to catch the ferry.
They have a snack bar serving drinks, including alcohol and hot dogs and such. Most of the seats are on the second deck which is open on the sides. Don't forget that it gets very windy on the water. In fact, today it was actually very chilly. Do yourself a favor and bring a windbreaker, sweatshirt, or the like. Otherwise you will be trying to find space downstairs with all those that flee the wind.

The best way to travel between Falmouth and Oak Bluffs

By SeaEben |

The deck hands on the Island Queen are Mass Maritime Cadets - they are friendly, professional and helpful. The boarding and disembarkation processes are very well done. The safety briefing is very clear and helpful.

Fun ferry ride

By rickjen3 |

This was a nice experience. The ride was quick and the kids seemed to enjoy it. The stayed pretty much right on time. Plenty of food and drink choices.

Easy on/off in Falmouth Harbor, and in Oak Bluffs

By capec0ddennis |

The Island Queen is my ferry of choice, because I don't have to deal with getting to Woods Hole to get the Steamship Authority ferry, and because it is a smaller boat, so it is much easier on/off. It drops you right in Oak Bluffs - you are a one minute walk to the harborfront bars and restaurants, bike rentals, car rentals, the carousel, etc.
I believe they are CASH ONLY and they do not take reservations.
The staff is also exceptionally friendly.

Ferry fun

By Jean E W |

Cheapest way to get to MV. No cars allowed on ferry. Lots of parking lots nearby. You can’t bring bikes on the ferry.

Great Trip

By Patricia Clancy |

Clean, efficient, on time, and the price is always right! Pleasant, quick ride across the canal with refreshments available. Affordable transport for day trips. We visit several times per season. I highly recommend it for trips to MV.

Easy

By dave911nj |

Easy peasy to get to Oaks Bluff. Nice ship. Personnel very nice and professional. The snack bar / bar a nice added touch, and surprisingly reasonably priced. Very reasonable cost. Only issue I have is with the other travelers waiting to get on the boat. They are animals. We were there with luggage because we were staying the week, and nobody cared...pushing us out of the way.

first trip to marthas vineyard

By travel t |

family came up from va and nj to do a 15 person trip to marthas vineyard. OMG what a great trip. the boat from falmouth made this trip begin and end perfect. we drove to falmouth parked in their lot and got on the boat to THe vineyard.
we got together and did a tour and the enjoyed the town.
we will definitely be back 2019 for and overnight and get some mopeds to get around . we will probably use the falmouth shuttle again it was easy and not a bad round trip fee.

thanx for a great day

A wonderful experience…

By Debra P |

The Island Queen experience was flawless! From the ease of booking, clear instructions and information, convenient parking and pleasant and helpful staff, the ferry ride added to our overall wonderful visit to Martha’s Vineyard! Living on the Cape ourselves, the Island Queen will be our ferry of choice.

Great way to get to the Vineyard at a very reasonable price

By Paul M |

The Island Queen Ferry is a convenient way to get to The Vineyard at a very reasonable price. The Ferry is not for vehicles going over, only foot travel. For an additional fee they will also take bicycles and Kayaks.

Very nice ride

By AGSIII |

Easy purchase process. Boarding not on a first cone basis rather on a who knows where to stand next to the boarding gate process. Get there early, sit or stand near one of the 2 gates. Crew was very polite and professional. Excellent refreshments aboard. Enjoyable ride.

Pleasant Trip

By 77mic |

The ferry is comfortable, with lots of choice of seating...outside in front or back or inside. We went in late October to Martha's Vineyard and unfortunately many of the places there were closing for the winter, but it was still worth going. Parking near the ferry was no problem, at least at the time we went.

Oustanding

By Richard Dale |

I cannot recommend this service too highly. Wemade the mistake of leaving our credit card at the restaurant just before boarding and we would not have been able to go back and get it and still make the boat.Mike, the manager, took meis personal vehicle tocollect it and all worked. Truly above and beyond.

Also,if you are not taking a vehicle this is the way to go. Easy parking,no buses. Great experience.

Thanks to all.

Boston, Kennebunkport, Falmouth to the Vineyard

By Roquita C |

What an amazing two days this was. I rented a car and drove from Boston to Kennebunkport, stopping off in Oqunquit a few hours being heading over to Falmouth where I spent the night and took the ferry over bright and early for a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard!!! What a great way to conclude my time in New England and Cape Cod

Easy Way to Get to Martha’s Vineyard

By Brooke Hinkle |

The Island Queen Ferry is perfect for taking day trips to MV, or getting there to stay a while, for you can bring bikes, luggage’s, and even dogs on board. The prices aren’t too bad, $22 round trip for an adult. Be sure to arrive 45 mins early though because on nice days, spots fill up quickly. Onboard, they sell food and drinks which is very convenient. Also, the ride is only 35 minutes, so it goes by quickly. The only complaint I have is that on weekdays, the latest ferry from MV to Falmouth is at 6:45, so you’re not even there to see the sunset. Weekends run later though.

Great way to get to the Vineyard

By maxwellkg |

We like this boat service because it takes you right into Oak Bluffs. You can also take on your bikes if you are going to use them on the island. Walkers or bicycle riders only.

Highly recommended ferry between Falmouth and Martha’s Vineyard

By Ron B |

The trip from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs (and back!) was smooth and quick. The staff welcomed everyone on board warmly. Announcements were clear and concise. Parking was a short walk away. No shuttle required!

Classic trip to the Vineyard

By Steve F |

This medium size boat is always a tree to take over to Martha's vineyard. It provides a comfortable ride with awesome staff to make the journey a pleasant to one. The moat is extremely well maintained and clean.I have never been disappointed taking the island Queen.

Pleasant ferry to Martha's Vineyard

By Hankeesd |

We went in early September. The boat was big, clean and not very crowded. We sat on the top deck and it was breezy. The seats were very comfortable. On our return trip to the mainland we took the last ferry and again not crowded. The waters were very choppy, so we sat indoors. There was a refreshment place for drinks and snacks.

The best part was that the parking on the mainland was a short walk from the ferry docks, but there was a fee of I think $5-10.

Day-trip to the vineyard

By sunsea99 |

Reliable and enjoyable 30 minute ride to Oak Bluffs!

Note you are not guaranteed a seat...it's first come first-served as they do not take reservations

Clean, well-organized and well run 👌

Great trip to Martha's Vineyard!

By janet6686 |

On time, good service and a quick ride to the island. Going over was a bit rough but a beautiful ride back. Try going on the top deck if seas and weather permit.

Great for a day trip, but you must move your car immediately after the ferry returns

By Kevin I |

We took the island queen from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard for a day trip. The trip was smooth, the staff was friendly, and the boat was on time. Parking was down the street and a bit pricey at $20 cash only for the day. You also cannot leave your vehicle parked and explore Falmouth after your trip because they close down the parking lot soon after the ferry returns.

Voyage to Martha's Vinyard

By Donna P |

Great trip over. Sat upfront t in the bow. Coming back was a blast as it was very rocky and lots of spray. It was fun to watch everyone and the view.

Very nice day trip activity

By SouthJerseySulio |

My wife and I really liked the three deck boat. It was just pedestrians and bicycles on board. Getting on and off was easy. Handicapped were given priority.

Enjoyable

By df4727 |

The trip to Martha's Vineyard from Falmouth is the way to go if you are going to the Vineyard. Less traffic hassle and less distance. You are asked to be there 30 mins. before sailing and if you don't take an early sailing, parking is at a premium. It's a nice 45 min ride on a very clean vessel with refreshments and rest rooms. I would recommend staying as far forward as possible due to engine noise in the rear. Getting off is easy and I would suggest avoiding the last trip back.

Visit to Martha's Vineyard

By Carole M |

Great trip via the Island Queen. On time, smooth sailing, helpful friendly crew and plenty of sunshine.

My very favorite way to go to MV!!!

By amelie l |

I’ve loved this boat for many years for so many reasons. As long as I don’t have to bring a car over I always choose the Queen. It’s a way easier trip between having parking so close by and it being a shorter cruise over to crazy fast loading and unloading. The crew and staff are simply the friendliest and thoughtful around. My only worry about leaving this review is the too many people will discover just how much better it is. Can’t wait until their season begins again this year. Thanks for everything IQ Crew!

Great transportation to and from Martha's Vineyard

By Ann C |

Our ride on the Island Queen Ferry was great. The ferry was clean and the ride was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Boarding and disembarking was very orderly and prompt. Our hotel was within walking distance to the ferry so we did not have to utilize the ferry parking lot. We even got a discount on our tickets by purchasing them at our hotel.

Lovely crossing - recommended

By Jillian |

A lovely ferry and a perfect way to cross from Martha's vineyard to Oaks Bluff. Recommended- reasonably priced

Nicest way to get to the Vineyard....

By 1968MW |

Pleasant crew, reliable sailings and a family atmosphere make this our first choice for visiting MV. All you need is good weather and it's a wonderful ride.

Great trip!

By jozamm |

We had a wonderful ride from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard. It was a pleasure with plenty of seating. It took 35 minutes to get there. We stayed at the Red Horse Inn which made it an easy walk to the ferry and we didn't have to worry about parking. The port at Martha's Vineyard gives easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the bus stop. The only thing that was a negative is that the last returning trip to Falmouth was at 6:45 so that we had to worry about getting back from Aquinnah in time. Taking the earliest ferry to Martha's Vineyard would give you more time for traveling around the island.

Part of the Martha’s Vineyard adventure…

By Donna K |

Clean, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient. A perfect way to begin and end your adventure to Martha’s Vineyard. The price is so reasonable and the ride was stunning.

way to go

By Lee6925 |

Taking the ferry from Falmouth to MV is definitely the way to go. Its cheap under 10 dollars (although parking in their lots is 15.00 for the day) and you are shuttled right down to the dock. The ferry layout takes a bit getting used to and we had difficulty finding the exit the first time we rode but its an easy walk on and walk off ride. The food was very expensive I paid $5.00 for two small cookies. I know the cost to take your car is 80.00 each way its easier to walk on and rent an electrical bike over there. Its clean and on time and we actually had some passengers who were in a band set up and sing for us on the return ride home. Never know what you will find on the Cape...

Martha's is a must

By Joe D |

We came over in July from Northern Ireland and had a great visit to Martha's Vineyard.
The ferry was brilliant, didn't take too long, I think just over half an hour, seating, restrooms and snacks available on board.
Would recommend

On time

By CD323 |

The ferry was on time both going and returning. We parked at our nearby hotel so can't comment on parking.

It was a lovely way to travel to Martha's Vineyard.

Timely and pleasant way to go to Martha's Vineyard

Thoroughly enjoyed our ferry crossing to MV... such an easy way to do it and not very pricey. Friendly staff. Departure and arrival were right on time both directions. Highly recommend.

Quick ferry to Island

By Mizmoe |

Great ferry ride from Falmouth to Oaks Bluff on Martha’s Vineyard. Leave right on time and arrives 35 minutes later. Food and drinks available for purchase. Restrooms available on Ferry. 3 levels of seating: indoors, partially covered outdoors and fully opened top level.

Perfect for a Day Trip

By Eli H |

My family of four used this for a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. We stayed in Falmouth within walking distance and took the morning ferry onto the island. This was a perfect way to see Martha Vineyard in a day, using the buses on the island when we got there.

No hassle trip

By bandd2812 |

We travelled on the Island Queen back in June. We booked online, turned up on time, parked in the carpark and enjoyed our trip.
Everything went according to plan.

Fantastic Voyage

By Robert A |

Safe and confident crew.
On time departure and comfortable accommodations.
The vessel was stable and cut a clean wake through a slightly choppy sea.

Island Queen fun ride to Martha's Vineyard

By carol s |

The first parking lot we went to was full --the second parking lot was a short walk to the ferry. The seats were comfortable and looking out at the water was an enjoyable 35 min. ride.

Diamond Tour trip to Cape Cd/Martha's Vineyard

By Diane D |

Sitting on the top deck and the views! Visiting Martha's Vineyard is something everyone must put on their Bucket List.

Nice ride to the island

By Fredjh2 |

Very convenient, easy ride to Martha's Vineyard. We went on Friday because it had the later night trip (last trip home is 845 Fridays, 645p M to Th). Top floor is open (nice going in good weather). First floor is closed (good on return with rain). Does have a snack bar (with mimosas!) on first floor.

Best method to MV without a car.

By newengland50 |

If you are traveling to Martha's Vineyard without a car, this is the best way to go. There is parking reserved for Island Queen customers within a short walking distance (a distance equal to just over a city block). It's $20 per calendar day (if you arrive one day and depart the next, it is not 24 hours but two days). The Steamship Authority has parking, but it is a long distance in a shuttle bus from the ferry dock.

The Island Queen can be busy on early sailings and on weekend days. There is a bar with beverages and some snacks onboard. The ship offers indoor and outdoor seating.

The trip is about 35 minutes. You should make reservations online prior to the trip.

The ship is kept clean

Great ferry ride!

By Christine C |

First trip on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. The ferry is huge and can hold a lot of people, bikes and strollers. There was plenty of room and seating on board. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Bucket List Trip

By David P |

My wife and I enjoyed a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. The weather was great but a little chilly so we bought a wind breaker and sweatshirt to counter the cool temps. The island is quaint and like visiting another vacation spot off the beaten path.
The ferry was comfortable and fast and priced right for seniors, in addition there was a $15/day parking fee.

Day trip to Martha’s Vineyard

By beverlyrawls38 |

The ferry ride was nice and safe during this COVID time. It was seats separating u from travelers and mask were worn by all

Solid Ferry Service with Close Parking

By 69gtojim |

Solid ferry experience. Slightly more expensive than steamship, but the parking lot is very close, you dont have to park like 6 miles away and wait for a shuttle.

Great ride over to Martha’s Vineyard

By Heather C |

Very nice ride over to Martha’s Vineyard. Parking lot within walking distance of the ferry or you can drop off people right at the boat. Easy boarding process. Smooth ride. Takes about 30 minutes to get to Martha’s Vineyard

Clean and efficient

By Honest Hannah |

We opted to take this to oaks bluff and find a way to Edgartown. Yes it’s longer, but why not have a nice long boat ride? Smooth and roomy with snacks and drinks for purchase.

Local and tourist

By ciara t |

The island queen a small ferry that takes you from Falmouth to Oaks Bluff. Looking at all the boats as you exit the Marina and wave to those passing by. The island queen is a great ride alternative to the steamship authority. Passenger only ride that always seems faster then stated. Friendly staff! Comfortable ride wether or not you are going to the island for the day or the week you won’t be disappointed you land in the heart of Oaks bluff near Nancy’s and other fine shops and restaurants. So come and sail on the Island Queen!

Less than a mile from the Main Street

By Herbie M |

Very well run medium size ferry made quick work of the short trip to Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. for foot and cycle traffic only.

Quick trip to the Island!

By Jamie Waryjasz |

Getting from Falmouth to the vineyard is super quick and easy this way! Enjoyed much more than going from Woods hole. Parking is about 5 min walk away. Passenger only boat. Very clean and smooth sailing. Gorgeous views on the way and super clean! Only complaint being in the summer they should do later last trips back all week long. Last ferry back is 6:45. If you want to spend a full day on the island doesn’t give you nearly enough time to take most of it in. We caught the last ride and there were so many people we were worried we wouldn’t all be able to get on.

Easy way to travel to MV

By 673sheric |

I love taking the IQ to MV - easy, inexpensive, and efficient. It is also great to be able to park and walk to the ferry vs taking the Steamship Authority ferry where you park and shuttle to the dock.

Needs improvement in wet weather

By Neeraja V |

The ride was pleasant and the ferry ariived on time. But there was one flaw. There is no covered shelter for waiting travelers on the Oak Bluffs side. So if it is pouring rain and if are we expected to be there 45 minutes early in order to guarantee a spot on the ferry, then we would be soaked wet even with umbrellas. It definitely needs improvement on that front. This waiting area needs to have a covered shelter arrangement. And more conveniently located restrooms on the Oak Bluffs side would help passengers.

Efficient, Simple and Enjoyable

By CraftBeers |

I really liked the Island Queen Ferry. I found the web booking, ticket taking, ferry loading, ferry ride and disembarking process to be executed perfectly.

If you are trying to decide on the best way to get to the Vineyard, there are two travel time aspects to consider. The closest land mass point is between Falmouth on the Cape and Oak Bluffs on the Vineyard. If you are staying in Falmouth, the choice is easy. If you are elsewhere on the Cape like Sandwich, Chatham or even P-town, you are trading drive time versus cost. You can take a high speed ferry out of Hyannis, but it's costlier and has a longer ocean ferry time. If you take the high speed Island Queen Ferry out of Falmouth, it's cheaper and shorter; however, you have a longer drive on land to get to the port. We chose cheaper.

We used the Hyannis Ferry later in the week. I liked Island Queen Ferry better. The ferry itself is really nice. Lines begin forming in a first-come first-served basis. There are plenty of seats. There are three decks of seating. Two of them are outdoors, while one on the lowest deck is indoors. You can move freely between them while the Ferry is in motion. They have a drink bar, but the trip is so short it's not really worth it for me.

This Ferry does not have assigned times to return. You will be given a little ticket stub. When you are done exploring the Vineyard, head to the port where you landed and get in line. Island Ferry promises not to leave anyone holding a ticket. The lines tend to be long for the last two rides of the day.

Parking at Falmouth is really easy, but I found the online maps and explanations to be confusing. I was not clear on where to park. Basically, the parking lot is about 2-3 blocks up the same street where you board. Lock your map on 75 Falmouth Heights Rd in Falmouth. When you are a few blocks from the destination look to your right for a fenced parking lot. Guys are standing at the gate. Reservations are strongly recommended. They fill up, so you want to make sure you get a spot. If you just wing it, you might get a spot, but then you might be left without parking.

Things to consider when booking this Ferry. Martha's vineyard is shaped like a triangle. You will be docking at the tip of a triangle at Oak Bluff. That town is okay, but the crown jewels are at the base of the triangle points. Edgartown (pronounced Ah-gah-town) is beautiful and must be visited. It's on the SE corner of the triangle. Aquinnah Cliffs are on the opposite SW corner. You need transportation to get there. When booking your ferry keep this in mind. Options are bus service or renting a car. Bikes are not an option unless you are into 60 mile rides.

9 am Ferry left at 8:20

By robert g |

Arrived at 820 for 9 am ferry. It left at 820. They say they leave 'when full.' NOWHERE on the site do they disclose this. Complete incompetence.

Easy way to get to Martha's Vineyard

This hour-long trip was pleasant. Quite windy so I sat inside... and charged my iPhone. I bought coffee and a snack (sausage and cheese bagel - or crossiant) which was just the right thing since I'd had no breakfast. Reasonable price.
Bonus for me: saw an actor I admire going over and coming back. Took a moment to tell him how much I liked his work on a TV show. He was quite gracious. (I did not request photo or autograph because he was with his wife and child and obviously relaxing)
We were warmly greeted going over and coming back.

Falmouth ferry.

Great ride. Very comfortable only takes 35 minutes to get to Martha’s Vineyard. Drops you off close to everything. Lest expensive then Hyannis ferry. Does have a lot off parking for a price!!

Relaxing

By Tayuh3 |

Nice ferry ride, but the trip os very quick. Plenty of seating, snack bar, and nice views. I expected a more frequent schedule, especially during summer.

Very well run

By pfc302 |

We've always wanted to visit Martha's Vineyard and this was the Ferry that we chose, downloaded the app and booking was very easy. Parking was a short walk from the pier and the wait time for the ferry was quite short. Crossing time was as advertised. The ferry was clean and tidy, the crew were all on point and clearly knew how to run a slick operation. Well done to all the team

Falmouth to Oak Bluffs is about 35 minutes. $20 for adults, $14 for children to age 12. There is a secure parking lot a block from the marina, $15 for the day.

The boat ride was pleasant and informative about the area and the upcoming trip to Martha's vineyard.

Easy Ferry to Martha's......if you get there early

By ibcsc7 |

If you are going at a busy time, get there early ( both ways). They say 45mins, but not a minute too late. We were the 2nd to last car into the parking lot (cash only). Short walk to boat. Good crew, professional and courtesy. Plenty of seats for the short ferry to Oak Bluff.

Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard

This was a busy ferry with a max capacity of 500 people. We discovered this ferry by accident and could have taken the Steamship Authority line over to the Island as we later learned. The ferry was fast and the crew well organized. Well worth the extra $$

Fast and inexpensive ferry

By DFord1 |

A very nice, fast and inexpensive way to get to Martha's Vineyard. I would definitely do it again. I highly recommend this ferry

Excellent experience

By TexasMomTW |

Reservations were easy on the website, and we booked the 9 AM Oak Bluff ferry, with the 2:15 PM return. We arrived at the Island Queen parking lot at 8 AM for the 9 AM ferry, and there were plenty of parking spots available, even though electronic signage on our way and radio updates said that parking had limited availability. We paid $20 in cash to park, and then walked half a block to the Island Queen boarding location. There were clean rest rooms and a covered seating area where we waited until we were able to board the ferry. The ride was comfortable, the workers were efficient, professional and nice, and the restrooms on board were fine.
The schedule worked out well for our excellent 10:30 am to 1 pm History (bus) Tour with Oak Bluffs Land and Wharf Tours, giving us enough time to walk around the port and visit the Camp Meeting Association gingerbread houses and tabernacle before we walked back to the Island Ferry seating area to board our return ferry.

Fun day trip from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs

By CBMC1234 |

Took 4 kids over for the day to Oak Bluffs. Quick walk to ferry from rental house in Falmouth. Friendly staff onboard, clean boat, and easy on and off process. Only downside was no shelter from sun/rain on return trip while waiting in Oak Bluffs (Falmouth has a small covered area with benches that came in handy when a summer downpour happened right before boarding). Next time will bring our bikes.

Clean and well managed ferry. Just long and short enough so my 4 and 8 year old granddaughters didn’t get bored.

Great way to travel to Marthas Vineyard.

By eggleg |

The Island Queen Ferry goes to Marthas Vineyard and back. It is very large so it holds a lot of people, reservations are not needed. But you should arrive early to get in line.
They accomodate bikes. There is free parking but it fills quickly and they send to other lots further away, so arrive early for the closest lot.

By CAROL P |

What a lovely start (and return) to a lovely day. Even though the weather wasn't fabulous it was really fun to go on this boat from Falmouth over to Martha's Vineyard. The trip takes about 35 minutes and you feel like your on a mini-cruise. We went in early October so there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy the top deck. An excllent way to start and end a day's adventure.

What can you really say, it's a big boat with a lot of people. Trip to Martha's Vineyard takes about 40 minutes. Ride was smooth.

Beautiful day!

By KAD56 |

Day trip to Martha's. Vineyard. The had a big bus group at 9 am ferry but plenty of space, sat up top , no aaa discount 44.00 round trip for 2 . There is parking next door for 15./ day, off season you could prob park in large Christmas tree lot down the st.? If going for a short day, the last ferry does leave early at 3:45 , so if you want more time take the ferry into woods hole. The ferry has food, bathrooms, inside seating, we enjoyed up top, very efficient boarding etc. nice day!

To Island Queen Management:

I am informing you of an incident we had today on the 3:34 pm return trip from Oak Bluffs on July 29. I was traveling with my 82 year old mother with diabetes and a pacemaker and her 81 year old friends visiting from California. The waiting area was crowded and I noticed a waiting area for handicapped passengers that was empty. . I asked the agent in the waiting area if my mom and her friends could sit there and the response was “Just because you’re old doesn’t mean you’re handicapped”. We decided to just sit where we could.

This is just an FYI for you so that others aren’t treated the same way.

On time, no hassles, fast way to MV

By Jim O |

Booked a round trip to Oak Bluff MV o time both ways, easy boarding, parking lot lose by on mainland side.

Excellent

By bcbcbc |

Great way to get to MV. We (3 couples) have been to Cape Cod before but made the trip this time for the sole purpose if going to Martha's Vineyard. We decided to stay in Falmouth because the ride to the island is shorter than leaving from Hyannis, and the cost was $20 round trip, rather than the $59 fare from Hyannis. You do have to pay $15 I believe to park, unless your lodging is within walking distance, as ours was. All of the staff were courteous and helpful. The ride was lovely. The boat left and arrived exactly as the times posted. No hassle.

Ferry to Martha's Vineyard

By Dcancersurvivor |

My mother and I drove from Kentucky and chose to stay in Falmouth because of this easy option to get to Martha's Vineyard on this ferry. The ferry was in walking distance of the hotel we chose and allowed us to leave our vehicle in the hotel parking lot.
The ferry was on time, the crew was friendly and it is reasonably priced. The vessel is clean with plenty of seating, and it’s a great way to get to Martha’s Vineyard from Falmouth.
You have a lovely trip that takes you to Oaks Bluff in about 35 minutes. The sailing was smooth and efficiently run by lovely people. We actually made friends with a couple that visits the area yearly and stated that they take the Island Queen every time.
This ferry is a gateway to a relaxing day exploring Martha's Vineyard, without the hassle of driving or indeed queuing for the vehicle ferry at Woods Hole. If you are not staying in Falmouth, there is a large car park for the Island Queen ferry on the same road as the departure point.

No Hassles Travel for Cyclists

We bought our tix online and took our bicycles. Got there early, everything good. On-time, smooth entry. Return trip easy-peasy. Enjoyed the ride both ways. There were some seats in-between us and other travelers while we're still in the pandemic.

Great way to visit marthas Vineyard without the worry of driving

By andrew1395 |

As British tourists, we chose to stay in Falmouth because of this easy option to get to Martha's Vineyard on this ferry. A lovely trip that takes you to Oaks Bluff. The sailing was smooth and efficiently run by lovely people. We enjoyed a great conversation with the staff managing embarkation on the return trip. On arrival at Oaks Bluff walk up to the bus stop and buy a $8 all day bus pass. Take a bus to the lovely Edgar Town and from there another to Gays Head lighthouse. A lovely beach and views. Explore Oaks Bluff on your return before getting the ferry back to the mainland This ferry is a gateway to a relaxing day exploring Martha's Vineyard, without the hassle of driving or indeed queuing for the vehicle ferry at Woods Hole. If you are not staying in Falmouth, there is a large car park for the Island Queen ferry on the same road as the departure point. This allows overnight stays at a reasonable day rate. It can work out cheaper than taking the car ferry if you are away for just a few nights on the island. Tickets are open ended so no need to commit to an outward or return ferry. There is an excellent nearby (super) market - Windfall Market on 77 Scratton Avenue, open at 8am if you need to buy picnic items before the ferry departure.

Very comfortable crossing in a well kept boat. The staff were friendly with plenty available to check tickets and assist on/off boarding. Great value for money for a short trip from Falmouth to MV.

Booking online was straightforward with the option of showing e-tickets on your phone.

The boat was very clean. Would definitely use again.

Excellent customer service.

We used the Island Queen Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard in August, an effortless trip both ways, efficient staff and clean and tidy. Later that evening realised we had lost our camera case and SD cards. We contacted the Ferry company to see if it had been handed in but it hadn’t, so we left an email address in case it was found. Several days after returning home we were surprised to receive a message that it had been handed in.Many thanks to Catherine Murphy from Island Queen for all her efforts in organising it’s safe return to us in the uk. We were thrilled not to have lost our holiday photos after all and greatly appreciate her efforts on behalf of the company.

Our first trip on the Island Queen Ferry was smooth sailing.
Ideal mode of transportation to Martha's Vineyard, no need to bring your car. Simply board the ferry, enjoy the crossing and continue to enjoy your day on the Vineyard

Best way to the Vineyard

By MDToronto |

Always travel on the Island Queen when going to the Vineyard. It docks at Oak Bluffs where you can shop and then easily take the local bus for a quick trip to Edgartown and Vineyard Haven. There are a number of tour buses at the dock if that is what you are looking for. There is a snack bar on board and it is nice to enjoy a beer while sitting on the deck on the way back to Falmouth after a day on the Vineyard. There is parking quite close by, just a quick walk to the ferry.

We went to/from MV for sight-seeing and lunch. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. The boat is comfortable and clean.

Island Queen Ferry was a great experience. Only 30 mins from Falmouth to Oaks Bluff, Martha Vineyards. The crew and staff were great and made sure everyone followed Covid-19 rules while in the boarding area and on the ferry.

Great way to travel to Martha’s Vineyard

By MsCasualTravelor |

Went on a gorgeous Tuesday, after Labor Day tourists and before things close in midOctober. The boat was clean, plenty of seats, friendly crew, and ran on time. Great relatively inexpensive way to go to Martha’s Vineyard. $20 all day parking, about 1.5 blocks from the ferry. $27 per person ferry tickets, round trip.

Wheelchair Friendly Ferry

By Califanna348 |

This company does accommodate wheelchair users by putting down a ramp upon entry and exit. However, they do not have an accessible restroom and unless you can climb stairs, you can not access the second floor on the Ferry. They have a separate loading area for those needing special assistance.

If you arrive early, you can have access to parking that is closer to the entrance to the Ferry. However, be aware that the bus tours do park right behind the entrance parking and so you are stuck there until everyone gets on or off the bus.

The staff is very helpful and will try to accommodate any special needs you may have while on board.

So convenient to many hotels.

By nicesteps |

We stayed at the Red Horse Inn and it was a 5 minute walk which avoided the 15 dollar parking fee. Comfortable and they provide snacks and drinks, alcohol too.

Does what its supposed to do

By Jordan G |

It's a ferry...it gets you from point A to point B and back again. I'm not sure how it could be reviewed negatively unless someone had a bad experience with the staff/crew (which we didn't). It left when it was scheduled to leave and arrived when it was scheduled to arrive. The way back was a bit bumpy, but I don't know anything about operating a boat so I can't really complain about that. Hot chocolate was good :)

Convenient shuttle for one day trips to Martha’s Vineyard.

By Vhandu_Life |

Comfortably ride to Martha’s Vineyard. A little more costly than the Steamship Athority’s water shuttles, no vehicle transport, and less frequent. But...faster travel water shuttles and less frtha’s Vineyard with great lookout locations throughout the vessel. Parking costs ~$20 per day, but if you stay at the Red Horse Inn, it is walking distance to the Island Express loading dock.

Best way to get to Marthas Vineyard from Falmouth

By Nixy999 |

Took a day trip to Martha's Vineyard on the Island Queen. Trip was fine and not too expensive as long as you avoid the onsite parking. If you don't mind a bit of a walk then you can find off street parking fairly close by. Only suitable for day trips as overnight street parking is illegal in Falmouth apparently

Our trip to Martha's Vineyard

We had a nice day trip to Martha's Vineyard. Everyone was pleasant. The ferry was on time both ways.

Pleasant Ferry Ride

By 860Vetman |

Great Transportation, the crew and passengers are still required to wear masks. Our only disappointment was the schedule. We traveled to the vineyard on a Monday and the last ferry back to Falmouth left at 3:45. Taking the first ferry in the morning then booking a 3 hr tour of the vineyard it didn't give us much time to spend in any of the popular locations.

Easy Trip!

By joy h |

We chose the Island Queen Ferry for our 1-day trip to Martha's Vineyard for it's proximity to our rental house, desired landing at the Oak Bluff's terminal and parking options. The parking lot was full when we arrived at 8:00 for the 9:00 departure but we took advantage of the valet parking. So glad we did. Made the return so much easier after a very long day exploring the island. Overall, a very good experience.

Great long day trip

By moot |

Took first ferry out at 9am (plenty of space) and last ferry back at 6.45pm (again, plenty of seats available- end of August) for a fabulous day trip. Buy your tickets at your hotel to save $1 pp.
Prompt departures and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Fun sightseeing on your way to Martha's Vineyard

By Biztraveler11 |

Beware that this sells out during the summer or at peak times and the parking lot is quite a distance away. You may have to wait for the next ferry; and plan your return time carefully or you could be stuck on the island. We found out the hard way that one of the regular parking lot gates is locked soon after the ferry arrives so don't wait for traffic to clear as your car could be locked in (or pay a fee to have someone unlock the gate). Enjoy the view from your choice of deck seating; nice ride. Easy boarding.

Comfortable smooth ride, friendly crew

By John W |

This is a fast and convenient ferry service from Falmouth to Martha's Vinyard and back. The crew is friendly and helpful, and the ride takes approximately 40 minutes. My only suggestion is to buy the tickets in advance to get the time slot you want. This can easily be done on your mobile phone.

Easy and cheap way to Martha's Vineyard

By ILRud |

It is the fast way to get to the island.
Parking managed by Island Queen is available close to the boarding area in Falmouth at $15.
You need to be there at least half an hour before leaving. There is not possibility of booking, first come first serve.
Very practical and cheap if you compare it to the fare you pay from New bedford.

Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard

By NapDonna |

We booked the Island Queen Ferry from Falmouth to Oaks Bluff in Martha’s Vineyard. It was a fairly short ferry ride. We got to spend the day on Martha’s Vineyard and returned to Falmouth late afternoon. The round trip was only $27! The ride was smooth. I would highly recommend this ferry, especially considering the cost.

There in a Breeze

By john a |

Numerous trips on the ferry have always buoyed our spirts. No puns intended. The view from the top deck is relaxing and sometimes spectacular, especially at sunset. Food is available per snack bar. If you plan to take your automobile please book early and expect to pay. The staff are cordial and know how to run an operation. We take the ferry out of Falmouth Height. One can get to Oak Bluffs or Edgartown. The people you meet on board can be from anywhere in the USA or from another country. Safe ride to and from an enjoyable journey. Get there on time or run the risk of being left behind. Bon Voyage!

Great Ride to Martha's Vineyard

By pearlgirl917 |

Fantastic ride on a GLASS-SMOOTH ocean. It was relaxing. We were able to book all on-line, and we got a tip from locals on where to park for free vs paying for parking. The ferry departed and arrived in a timely manner. Staff were great. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent way to get to Martha's Vineyard

By Dianne K |

Nice ride over, very smooth sailing, shorter and less expensive then some of the other carriers, nice crew, parking is kind of a haul but no other complaints!

Quick & Convenient

By Patty R |

We got here early since we were unfamiliar with how quickly it would fill up. Glad we did. I think everyone got on but it was definitely full. Again, not being sure we got back to the port early for our return trip. Very crowded on the next to last shuttle. Anyway the ferry was clean and nice both ways. Parking is another consideration. My husband dropped us off and found a spot at least a mile away.

The Covid Queen

By DBH291 |

I've been riding the Island Queen for over 40 years and had always been very happy with this ferry service - until now. We took the ferry on 8/26/20. We called in advance to inquire about maximum passenger capacity due to Covid. Three separate employees, one on the phone and two at the gate, told us that maximum capacity was limited to 50 passengers per trip. We were surprised and disappointed to see that on the trip to the Vineyard, there were well more than 150; and the trip home was even more crowded by, we estimate, more than 200. The only thing we can conclude is that we were lied to in order to coerce us to arrive very early. Whatever the reason, we don't appreciate being lied to. Further, finding a seat that was six feet away from others was a serious challenge. And when departing the ferry both in the Vineyard and in Falmouth, there was no attempt by employees to encourage, or require, any social distancing. Rather it was a shoulder to shoulder free for all with hundreds of passengers rushing the exit all at once, as if no one had ever heard of Covid . If you consider taking the ferry, plan to hang back upon exiting and allow the crowds to get off and give yourself a chance to have appropriate distance between you and others.

Island Queen: BEST/EASIEST WAY TO MV

By 943Accurateinfo |

Best way to get to MV. Boat leaves from Falmouth
Only $22 round trip!
Only takes about 40 minutes!
Courteous, helpful staff!
Great value!

Without question arrive early...

By Maygon |

We debated this ferry over the others, this was the fastest and closest to where we were staying. My children seemed annoyed that we arrived so early but once we saw the MASSIVE line behind us it seemed worth it. It is VERY large and I couldn't imagine how many people it takes to fill. However when returning from MV be SURE you are early especially on the last few ferries. I heard a few people saying they hadn't gotten on the previous one. A last minute hotel on the island can be expensive and hard to find if you miss the last one!

Wonderful ride to Martha's Vinegard

By Sandra H |

Booked our ferry tickets at our motel in Falmouth. Loved the ride over to Martha's Vineyard. It took less than 45 minutes to travel to and from Falmouth. The ferry offered drinks and snacks for a charge as well. It offered covered and uncovered seating. It was a little chilly on the day we went and my husband and I had to purchase a couple of hoodies to stay warm for our ride back.

Punctual, clean, quick.

By Greendave12345 |

Easy access from our Motel for the early sailing. You certainly don't need to get there 45 mins before departure during the off-season. Good little cafe onboard. Really good experience.

The Island Queen Ferry from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard was an excellent experience and reasonable. The ferry was on time with plenty of room. Very clean and well maintained though not a new ship. Service boarding, on board, and exiting was second to none. Overall an excellent experience.

Pleasant short ride to MV

By bluto011 |

Runs about every hour and a half . Boat is clean. Drinks and snacks available..Comfortable seating inside and out. During the summer, get there at least 45 minutes early for the morning trips

Efficient trip

By KCLizard |

If you are not taking a car, and you want to be in the Cape area before or after going to the Vineyard, this is a great choice. The parking is nearby (whereas the other nearby ferry service makes you park a long ways from the terminal). Your ticket info is on your phone and quick for check-in, and the waiting area is pleasant as you watch the harbor. The boat also loads quickly, and you can get on and off much quicker than the bigger boats. The prices for snacks on the boat are very reasonable. The boat unloads on the island in an area with several bike rentals, bars, restaurants and shops so it is super convenient.

Good trip

By Jill P |

This is a quick ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. It is a three storey boat with lots of seating and runs back and forth every one and half hours. Washrooms and food/drink available.

Fast and Efficient

By Angela H |

You do have to arrive there 45 minutes before the run time to insure a seat during the summer, but it's worth the wait. The ferry left on time and we arrived on time at Martha's Vineyard. Once on board you do have the option of sitting outside on the deck or inside to avoid the sun. The seats are comfortable and the ride was enjoyable.

Little shop girl ruined my trip

By Rene S |

The ferry was great even though the weather was overcast and the water was choppy. The 3 rating is because I bought a tshirt as we were leaving, really running because of the rain. Told the little girl large or X-Large, I held up the large and thought if it shrunk we couldn’t wear it so paid for the X-Large. I guess I dhould have double checked as no one can get good help these days and it was a YOUTH X-Large, well needless to say from SC I wont be able to pop back by plus they have no online ordering ability
Ruined my trip as we are also from an island and was so looking forward to my “Island Queen” tshirt

Pleasant crossing

By estelles382 |

A little crowded but we got seats. Smooth short crossing and martha's vineyard is worth the trip. Beers available on board which was lovely on the return leg.

Easy trip, on time

By KissMeGoodnight |

I heard nightmares about the SSA break-downs and cancellations, so we booked on the Island Ferry to MV instead. Everything was easy, and the trip took no time at all. Very smooth, despite windy conditions. Wished they had more indoor/protected seating for raining days.

Easy trip to Marthas Vineyatd

Easy passenger ferry to Oak Bluffs Marthas Vineyard. Plenty of room on deck and only takes about 30mins from the very pretty Falmouth Harbour. Parking near the harbour.

Nice boat ride to Martha's Vineyard on a well-maintained vessel

By Frank-in-MI |

We took this ferry to Martha's Vineyard as it was the closest one to where we were staying and indicated they had private parking close to the boat dock (which they did). Not much to say other than it was a nice ride there and back. Only concern was there being space on the last boat back (6:45PM) to Falmouth but there was plenty of space.

The crew we very friendly and it is an excellent way to visit MV from Cape Cod.

Timely and efficient

By Granville75 |

They have this gig down to an art. The ferry is a fast way to MV and it runs about every hour and a half.

Great, just don't sit up front inside

By Robert M |

Everything with the ferry was as expected. I would recommend sitting on the mid level to avoid the sun and to get a cool breeze. The front of the ship on the first level with the tables has no air flow and felt like a sauna. One recommendation for IQF would be to at least put a couple fans in there to move the air around. We couldn't tolerate the heat and moved - about half of the people sitting around us moved as well. Other than that, the ship was pretty clean and right on time.

Great trip!

By Sarah6481 |

Easy way to get to Martha’s Vineyard. Trip took about an hour. Good sailing! We got our tickets the evening before from our hotel (at a slight discount). It’s a popular crossing!

Great!

By U. Harper |

Loved this ferry ride it had a bar and the waves weren't bad at all it was a really nice ride with awesome boats, yachts and more so bring your camera

Best way for getting to MV without a car!

By our20th |

From the Falmouth harbor location this is the easiest way to access MV. The ship is clean and the ride enjoyable. The staff members are more pleasant and accommodating that their competition. If there is a negative to the experience it would be the volume of people waiting to board. This can be a little less than enjoyable as everyone crowds an area waiting and wanting to be first on and first off.

A relatively inexpensive and quick way to get to the Vineyard

By Martin H |

We had originally planned to take the car over to the island but it was already fully booked by the time I tried to reserve it. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as taking the car across would have cost almost $200 but the Island Queen only cost us $44 for the round trip for two of us and then we took an organised tour once there which cost us $40 for the two of us so overall a good saving.

The crossing was only 35 minutes but on the day we went it was quite cold and windy so a lot of people moved inside from the open decks once out of the harbour but there aren't that many seats inside. Consequently, if its a windy day when you take the ferry, head straight inside to get a seat when you board.

There is limited catering on board, being snacks and drinks.

One of the highlights of our stay on Cape Cod

A most enjoyable short voyage from Falmouth Harbour, Cape Cod, to Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, without any fuss. Well organised both there and back with good choices of sailings. Very impressive mooring in the beautiful Falmouth Harbour, so make sure you take photos.

Took Island Queen from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard for a day trip. Scenic walk from our nearby B&B to departure terminal. Ticket purchase and boarding were quick and easy.
Travel time to MV about half an hour. Limited departure schedule but tons of convenience.
Would recommend.

Ray saved the day!

By Heather |

We arrive to the ferry 60 seconds too late. Ray graciously provided alternatives for us to get to MV without having to wait unilt 11 (2.5hrs)
He had one of his staff shuttle us over to another ferry and we made it!
We did take this ferry back from MV and enjoyed the trip and all the friendly staff and ever saw a couple of sharks.
Way to go Ray! What could have been a sour start to my husbands 50th we wound up to be meeting a good person.

Best boat ride on the Eastern coast

By moniquebK2063PX |

The Island Ferrry is wonderful clean and the staff is outstanding🤗. The ride is a 35 minute picturesque view. The snack prices were very affordable. The wine cups were the best. The staff were extremely friendly especially John and his crew. Take this ferry to Martha's vineyard it's well worth it.

We traveled the week after the 4th and did the walk up passenger from Falmouth to Oak Bluff. Fair pricing, boats we're on time leaving both ports. Great experience.

Fun way to travel

We were able to purchase ferry tickets at our motel (mariner motel), which saved us from standing in ticket line. However, ticket lines did not look very long. Our 1/2 hr ride to Martha's vineyard was fun and relaxing. Cannot wait for another visit.

A wonderful ride to Martha's Vineyard

By Jmesis |

Had the pleasure to ride the Island Queen for the first time. There is plenty of handicap parking right at the pier ticket office. Vehicle parking is about 150 yards away and cistv $15/day. The ride was smooth and there is a snack bar on board. Make sure you arrive no less than 30 minutes before departure.

Easy Parking

By Michael M |

Ferry ride was comfortable coming and going ,crew was polite ,since I didn’t have a car I took this ferry rather than the Steamship Authority because you have to take a shuttle from the parking lot, Island Ferry it’s a short walk.

We had a great ride on the Island Queen to Martha’s Vineyard. We rode our bikes from the hotel so we didn’t have to pay for parking but we did pay the fee to take our bikes on. Arrive at least 45 minutes early as it fills fast. It was a super nice ride! Will definitely do again.

About 40 minutes to Heaven

By Christine P |

The only way to visit Martha's Vineyard that was satisfying, smooth, safe and affordable way of transportation. A great view no matter where you are seated. I recommend top deck, less windy, very little rocking , but anyplace is good. On lower deck snack bar and BATHROOMS, which are clean and organized neatly. Orange Mimosas are served as well for a reasonable price as well as other snacks. The captain and staff are polite and courteous. If you are traveling with luggage, best to sit on lower deck but, monitor luggage, we had no problem with ours on 2nd level and we sat on top level during our 40 minutes ride to heaven. Safe, affordable, good way to sightsee for 40 minutes. May need extra layers for wind, rain or drop in temperatures, depending on what month you travel, we were on the vessel in early October, but overall nice and manageable.

A must see

By marydunsmoor19 |

Stay8ng at our hotel, it’s an easy walk to the ferry. The day trip to the island is a must. Even pets are allowed and it’s a great day on the water to another adventure.

Trip to Martha's Vineyard

By Karen M |

Beautiful day for a ride to the island. Smooth and organized. A lot of people to cattle on but plenty of space for everyone. The ferry schedule is on line and available in a lot of hotels. Tickets are reasonable at $22 round trip. It's a 20-30 min. ride over. It embarks in Falmouth which was a 1 hour drive from Yarmouth. You can make reservations or just show up. There is a area at the docks while you wait to get a quick snack. Last ferry back was 6:30. There are other boats that go to the island which are a little faster from different areas on the Cape but at a higher prices. Parking lots available in Falmouth for $15 but a short walk to the terminal.

A wonderful way to get to Martha's Vineyard!

By smartcookie1916 |

The Island Queen is a clean, well run ferry. It was a pleasant ride to and from Oak Bluffs. A round trip is reasonably priced.

Class Act!

By Rich G |

Great experience heading from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs. Well organized (esp in Covid era) from dropoff of passengers with a patrolled turnaround area, great parking about 150 walking yards from ferry ($20/day), ferry ticketing ($22/adult), and precise departure and arrival times. The boat itself felt less like a ferry and more like a nice sea voyage, with nice outdoor seating on 3 levels and a comfortable ride even in slightly choppy seas.

They have a nice cafe on the ferry too.

Martha's Vineyard (Oak Bluffs) is a great day-trip from Falmouth and the town itself is worth hanging around in for shopping and restaurants. My only complaint is that the round-trip "spring" hours (to maximize your day) is 9am out and 345pm back. Not long enough! But they did spring hours longer due to the pandemic. Very easy to spend more time there if we went on a Friday or weekend instead.

Will definitely use them again!

Day tripped to MV. Boat staff professional and boat was very clean and on time. MV a crazy zoo so beware

Excellent quick way to get to Martha's Vineyard

By Leanne A |

We are locals and enjoy taking this boat to Martha's Vineyard from time to time... **keep in mind, they accept cash only! It's a spacious boat with excellent staff. You can also grab a snack and/or a beer /wine on board.

Phenomenal even world-class service.

By Carlos H |

Smooth and comfortable boat with extremely friendly staff. Honestly, this is one of the best companies that we were luck enough to go through on our entire trip and we had an awesome time in Massachussets. The staff bent over backwards to make sure that we were happy and safe at all times. They went far beyond what most companies ever do. We will definitely ride their ferry over to Oak Bluff again (hopefully soon). One of their managers (Mike) treated my wife with kindness and respect and just made our trip a blast. These are great people and give you the family-owned “we care” attitude.

Nice Ride to Martha's Vineyard

By kirpatt2016 |

Very convenient ferry to Martha's Vineyard. The cost is $22 PP and takes about 35 minutes. We were there the end of September, this ferry closes mid October. The ferry leaves Falmouth in Cape Cod and lands in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard. Oak Bluffs is a cool little town, is there primarily for all the tourists, the town also closes up around Columbus Day, mid October.

Comfortable mini cruise to Martha's Vineyard, it was quite misty with nearing arrival of hurricane Joel. The boat had good facilities on board light snacks and drinks both non and alcoholic.
Very timely departures and arrivals.

All of the personnel were kind and friendly.
Highly recommend the Island Queen!

NO reservations be there early

By kathy b |

Keep in mind there are no reservations and this is a busy boat!! We got there 1 hour early and parked in a parking lot for $20 a day.....good investment as you will be tired at the end of the day....you choose a departure and return time and must stick to it....very important in busy season. beautiful ride over and back.

We just caught it!

By Colin S |

There4 is a free shuttle bus for down town Falmouth to the dockside ferry terminal. By running from our hotel we just raged to catch the 8.30/45 sailing and boy what a great day we had. But back to the ferry itself. This was clean - and at that hour of the morning carrying only a few passengers. The ticket office is just set back from the berth and the staff there are obviously skilled at issuing tickets taking only micro-seconds enabling you to rush across the tarmac and board as the gangway is raised ! First rate service and its the good sunshine we enjoyed, a very pleasurable experience.

The boat was clean and boarding with rolling luggage was easy. On a windy day be sure to stay on the lower level to avoid getting soaked by salt spray.

On time and well organized

The boat was clean. The trip was without issue. We sat on the upper deck going and the main deck returning. The main deck had a snack bar and tables. The upper deck had wonderful views.

Best way to get to the Vineyard

By Michael D |

We love taking the Island Queen because it is a lovely ride to Oak Bluffs. They move people in and out quickly with a smile and staff is pretty polite. I would have given it 5 stars but the cost is getting pricey. They also need to replace several cracked/broken seats on the deck. However, the Queen knows that the competition (at least in Falmouth Harbor) is higher priced with a smaller ferry to Edgartown. I just hope the Queen doesn’t get out of control with ticket fares.

The Island Queen provides a nice ferry ride to Martha's Vineyard/Oak Bluffs from Falmouth. You can also park 200 yards away from the ferry, but you must pay for parking. This was a passenger only ferry.

Smooth sail

Very easy trip but very congested with COVID. There was NO social distancing going onto or coming off the boat. Also people sat very close to each other. However, a very smooth sail and flexible when we moved our return reservation to later in the day.

Wonderful Ferry Experience!!

By Duane P |

My wife and I took the Island Queen Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard and back today for a very pleasant afternoon on the island.

The ferry departed on time for both segments, and the safety instructions were complete. The ship was clean and looked well maintained. The crew was very professional and friendly.

We were staying at the Falmouth Heights Motor Lodge, which is a very short walk away from the ferry, so there was no issue with parking.

Great experience!!

Great ferry ride from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard. Snack bar onboard. Great for all ages. Bring your bicycle and ride around the island.

Day trip to Martha's Vineyard.

By Happy Traveler |

We took the ferry over in June and the ride was pretty good. The water was a little rough and there was a bit of fog. The seats were comfortable and it was also on time for both the ride over and back. I would recommend and if you can find a coupon in the book of activities it is even less. We would take it again when we stay there again.

First rate operation

Top notch operation. Convenient, very clean, friendly staff and a great value.

Underway crew are processional staff.

The ferry is very well maintained.... good selection at the snack bar.

They Make it Easy!

By romadaro |

We took the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard as part of a tour and it was a wonderful experience. Everything was perfect from checkin on the docks to the trip itself.

Nice and easy ferry

By Norwood1507 |

Nice and easy to drive there and park, $15 a day to park at their lots. Then just walk and buy your ticket and wait to get one, lots of people on the ferry to get there, was pretty much full so if you want to pick a seat go early and wait, the ride back was empty around 3. Took this ferry cause it was way cheaper than going from Hyannis to oak bluffs, so I drove the 40 mins to Falmouth to take this one, I think it was worth it.

Quickest trip to MV

By Grimleyfiendish |

We used the Island Queen for a family day trip to Marthas Vineyard on a sunny Friday in August. Having visited years before via Woods Hope we were keen to show our kids the beauty of the island - but remembered that Woods Hole has a shuttle from the car park - and takes a little longer.
Unfortunately the first parking lot around 100 yards from the terminal was full but there is a second one around 250 yards away which had spaces - for 15$. Not unreasonable given the price of all day parking for any of the beaches in the area. It is cash only though so beware...
In peak times I would recommend you arrive early (30-45 mins) as the 10:30 boat sold out around 15 mins before sailing but should not be an issue outside peak.
The boat itself was spacious enough for seating for all despite sell-out and was pretty smooth and comfortable. Decent bar onboard with reasonable priced drinks and a great way to approach the island. For us Oaks Bluff is a better landing point since we were renting bikes to travel to Edgartown and Vineyard Haven is further (and requires travel on roads).
Great day!

Heavenly

By ted36 |

My wife & I were staying at the Inn at Falmouth on road race day, so the town was busy. We walked to the ferry along the road race route, which was exciting in itself. Then we took the ferry to enjoy Martha's Vineyard, & returned the same day. The ferry was not just a convenience, but a delight.

Come rain or shine

By CHill567 |

The ferry is nice enough. There is a snack bar, clean restrooms and they ran a tight schedule. The problem was that we were instructed to arrive by 3:15 for a 3:45 departure. I arrived at 3pm. The rain started and suddenly we are in a downpour for 30 minutes with no boat in sight. There is no canopy or awning. We are a group of seniors and this was terrible. We traveled on the windy ferry completely drenched. Something needs to be done about the awning. I would have given it 5 stars.

Take to ferry and either hook up with a tour or rent a bike. No need to pay for bringing a car over. Cheap with a military discount. Round trip about $17 per person. Parking is OFF SITE. Be aware!

Clean, well run ferry.

By Gene R J |

My wife and I took this ferry for a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard. We bought our tickets online($46 for 2), stayed 2 nights at the Innseason Resorts Harborwalk, then walked just 200 yards south to board at 8:30 AM. Our 1 hour journey was misty, foggy and cold both ways but the sea was calm. On arrival, we bought a senior bus day pass($10 for 2) for the circuit to Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, then back to Oak Bluffs to return on the 2:15 PM ferry. Wonderful day using this clean, well run ferry with pleasant crew and port members. Highly recommended.

Convenient

By Bob S |

Ferry is $20 round trip and they do have parking. We tried to take the ferry in Woods Hole but there literally is no parking!! The ride to MV was about 40 minutes. The boat was clean comfortable, has bathrooms and a concession stand that even serves alcohol.

Right on schedule, but no shelter from the rain!

By Susan P |

The ferry left Falmouth and then the Vineyard on our return trip right on time and the both trips were smooth and comfortable. I'm only leaving 3 stars because, while there is a sheltered waiting area in Falmouth, there is none on the Vineyard. It was pouring on the day we returned to Falmouth. We waited as long as we could at the Steamship Authority dock, which is well covered, but got soaked walking from there to the Island Queen dock.

great trip to the Vinyard from Falmouth,Ma.

A great trip over and back. Very clean ship with a great crew
super nice seating both down and up. Good schedule and boy they were right on time.Nice snack bar. a lot better than swimming over. Even the lady at the cash booth was just so nice and helpful.

Nice Ferry Ride To Martha's Vineyard

By suedepumas69 |

We used the Island Queen to get to Martha's Vineyard. If you plan to arrive there by car, make sue you bring cash to pay for the parking there which is two long blocks away from the terminal. You can pay for your boast ticket cash, credit, etc. Very important that you arrive to the boat terminal 30-45 minutes BEFORE the scheduled time to departure. It gets packed with passengers quickly. Once your on the boat is first come first serve. They have a small area on the boat to buy snacks and drinks. The boat ride is approximately 45 minutes. You will arrive at Oak Bluffs, very quaint town with a big marina. Lots of restaurants within walking distance once you get off. And again, arrive early for your ride back. Hope this helps!

Lovely trip to Martha's Vineyard

By bdunn1285 |

The trip to MV was about half an hour. It was a very easy and comfortable journey to Oaks Bluff. They left right on time. The trip back was the same. I would definitely recommend bringing/wearing a light jacket to protect against the wind on the water.

THANK YOU CLAIRE!!

By Michele K |

We have been to Martha’s Vineyard for several years, but never taken the island queen ferry always steamship . I have to say very organized team of professionals, smooth ride, and a huge shout out to Claire, who hand-delivered the sweatshirt that I lost on the ferry to my mother-in-law since I live in Connecticut. You don’t see very many people going out of your way to help and by far she was the sweetest and awesome person.!! Thanks Claire!

This is the passenger only ferry so it has no reservations. Dogs were allowed smoking is not. Ride is under and hour and handicapped accessible. It goes direct to Oaks Bluff and back. Parking is close and costs 15 bucks. It was comfortable enough and had some food on board. Car carrying ferry is in Woods Hole.

Have taken the Island Queen several times. Always a nice trip to the Vineyard - and have traveled with bright, blue skies and also in the rain. The staff is always friendly. They keep to their schedule. Gets pretty crowded during the busy months so if you want a seat upstairs in the outside seating....get there early. Great views of Falmouth Heights as you sail off to MV.

Group tour

By DelawareLA |

One point to mention. There is seating above deck and at deck level. If you choose not to be above deck (open air), try to be first to board to assure seating- other wise you'll have to stand.

So glad we found the Island Queen ferry!

By maureenmcdonough2018 |

We had originally planned to take the Seastreak ferry to Martha's Vineyard from New Bedford - but our scheduled ferry was cancelled. We scrambled to find another ferry service on short notice. We were SO pleased with the Island Queen. Much cheaper than Seastreak, and parking lot is only a short walk away from the dock. The staff on the dock and on the ferry could not have been nicer. Boarding was quick and easy. We will definitely plan on the Island Queen for our next visit to the Vineyard!

Great Crowd Control

By Beth C |

I think the staff did a great job getting a large amount of people on and off the boat. The boat was clean and had ample sitting room. It was also super close to our hotel so we could walk there, but they do have parking for $20/day. I’m happy we took this over the Woods Hole ferry.

Smooth sailing!

By hadassahgj |

We took the Island Queen in Falmouth, MA to Martha's Vineyard and back. It was a nice, inexpensive boat ride. The round trip ticket allowed us to take whichever time slot worked for us for our return to Falmouth. Since we were there the week before the season officially began, we didn't have to worry about the boat being full. We sat outside on the second level in the back. It was a smooth sailing and no one got seasick! The deck seating area was clean but some of the seats were wet. No one in our group used the restrooms or snack bar.

Day Trip from Falmouth to Martha's Vineyard

By JCW-UA |

No problem transportation for people & bikes. Not an auto ferry.

For the trip over we sat outdoors on the top deck. It was a little windy. But, it was our choice & we could easily have moved. For the return trip, we opted to sit inside on the lowest deck (3 decks total), Luckily, we were towards the front of the line. This space quickly filled up since it was after dark and the weather was turning worse (colder and damper, but not raining yet). Inside seating was sparse. - just along the outside walls of the ship. Luckily it was a short trip (about 15 minutes) for those that had to stand.

However, the weather is not the fault of the ferry operator.

Fast and Easy Way to travel

By Constance F |

Great way to get to Martha's Vineyard. The ferry was clean, fast and staff was attentive. Parking is about 200 yards down the block so be mindful if traveling with those who need more assistance. We were advised to have our car out of the parking lot within ten minutes of arrival. Parking fee was $20 cash only.

Reliable and Easy

By KL1234 |

This is my favorite way to get to MV and I live closer to another ferry operator but I will drive further to get to The Island Queen. I’ve gone on this boat for 3 trips now and it’s always on time, reliable, and the tickets are reasonable priced. The workers both on board and at the docks are always very friendly too. I highly recommend traveling on The Island Queen to get to MV. Oh, and the parking being right at the dock (short walk) is another reason I ride this ferry. So convenient!

Wheelchair friendly and fun

By Kathy P |

My family had a wonderful day trip to the vineyard on the island queen. My father is in a wheel chair and the staff couldn't have been more kind and flexible, from drop off to parking and boarding to arrival at MV. Same experience on the return trip. They went the extra mile to be sure he had a safe comfortable trip. It's convenient and a bargain for families. Highly recommend.

Convenient and Scenic

By NewYorkTraveler2015 |

The Island Queen ferry is conveniently located right in town and is reasonably priced for trips to Martha's Vineyard. Pedestrians only, so loading and unloading times were quick. Nicely maintained boat with both inside and outside seating. Parking lot charge is high ($15) so walking to the marina is best way.

Ferry Falmouth to Marthas Vinyard

By eqkmo |

The ferry got us over in a reasonably quick manner, the boat was quite full but didn't seem over crowded, and the staff were pleasant.
It is a popular ferry, so you need to book ahead, but worth a trip.

Low cost efficient ferry

By jssamos |

We took the first ferry on a Wednesday morning in July and after a little mishap only arrived 5 minutes before the 9.00 ferry. You are adviced to be 45 minutes early but for us itnecessary. It was the first ferry of the morning and a week day which may have been why . The staff were lovely and we were able to get seats together on board with a lovely view. The trip took just over 30 minutes and cost $22 per person. This is both faster and cheaper than the ferry from Hyannis so win win!! Highly recommend island queen.

By spicysalmonroll |

We had an amazing day trip to MV. The ferry was easy to buy tickets online, easy check in upon arrival, friendly staff, flexible if you need to change your time. It was efficient. Would definitely take it again.

Great service and size of boat. Liked the ride a lot to Martha's Vineyard.

By SUN_and_H2O |

As we walked out of their parking lot (you have to pay an extra $15 to park there), We thought we would miss the boat and was expecting that because we had to do something at the car and we were delayed. I asked the parking attendant which way to the boat (which wasn't that far away anyways). But the boat was just about to leave at that same time. The attendant suddenly made a quick call telling them we were coming. Still, I didn't think the boat was going to be there as we walked as fast as we could up the street to it. But, they were waiting for us! We were so surprised at the service! It was so unexpected. We only delayed the boat departure by about 3-4 minutes. I won't be expecting this to happen again and don't like to be late, but I was happy that they did this for us without even asking. We then paid on the boat without a problem. Just have cash.

best ferry

By imperial war museum |

Ferry crew were friendly and helpful for our trip to Marthas Vineyard. Left and returned on time. Plenty of room on board with good, clean facilities. Would not travel with antone else

Overpriced

By LalaGal72 |

Overpriced compared to the steamship. Parking for the day is $20.00 and make sure you get your car out of their lot by 6pm. Otherwise, it stays until the next day and you're required to pay an additional $20.00 the next day to get it out. Make sure you get there at least an hour early as it's on a first come first serve basis.

Great way to travel to Martha's Vineyard

By BobbiSloan |

Clean, large ferry. Only 30 min to Martha's Vineyard or back. Nice trip. I just wish they offered a few more ferries through the day

Nice Ferry Ride on Sunny Day with Gentle Seas

By GeeBee B |

This is a passenger only ferry and we traveled with passenger loads of only 1/3 to 1/2 capacity. Seating in the fully enclosed portion of the main deck is pretty limited and nearly a third of all seats seem to be on the fully exposed upper deck, so beware of travel on cold, windy, or rainy days, you might not be able to get a seat in the most comfortable area. Logistics of getting on and off boat and to from berthing locations was pretty easy. Would definitely use again but might try the larger Steamship Authority vessel if weather dictated interior seating.

From Falmouth, it took 35 minutes to get to the Vineyard. It leaves right on time, so it's a good idea to be there early. It is first come first serve. When they meet their quota, others can't board. They allow bicycles, but no cars. Parking is available at an additional cost. Walk if you are close enough to it.

The schedule is more limited than the other area ferry. However, the other one also took cars if you are staying on the Vineyard.

We found tickets at our hotel were a little cheaper than buying them at the ferry, so that's a good place to check. It was clean and comfortable.

Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard

This was a very nice ferry. Very convenient for those coming from Falmouth. The price was good $22 a person. My only objection may be was the last voyage back to the mainland was 3:45, which does not give you much time to visit all the towns on the island.

This was our first trip to Martha's Vineyard. The ferry ride was pleasant, leaving on time with efficient loading and unloading. The price, at $22 round trip was very reasonable. Very enjoyable trip.

Fast and affordable ferry between Falmouth and Oak Bluffs

By Jacqui F |

The ferry to Martha’s vineyard is a great experience in its own right. We researched the different ferries quite thoroughly to find the best value. Given that we didn’t mind whether we left from Hyannis or Falmouth, or whether we arrived at Oak Bluffs or Edgartown, this was the best value at $22 for adults and $12 for kids. This service goes from Falmouth to Oak Bluffs and takes about 35 minutes. They advise you to get to the quay 45 minutes before your departure. The waiting area at Falmouth has shaded seating and there is a parking lot down the road. There was a very helpful lady at the information desk who gave us a map and explained the options for getting around the island by bus, although we had set our hearts on bicycles. They do sell food on ferry but we had taken our own supplies so I don’t know what it was like. There’s indoor seating on the boat as well as outdoor seating, some of which is covered and some not. It was a pleasant crossing both ways. The weather was pretty bad when we came back and the ferry was late, but there was regular information about the change in departure time so we didn’t mind too much.

Lovely ferry to the Vineyard

Comfortable and efficient journey to and from Oaks Bluff. We stayed at the Red Horse Inn which was a five minutes' walk from the ferry and allowed us to leave our car at the hotel. We also bought our ferry tickets at the hotel. The ferry ran bang on time both there and back.

A worthwhile trip

We traveled today on the Island Queen over to Oaks Bluff harbour for a visit to Martha’s vineyard, whilst there we also took the local bus to Edgartown. If visiting you need to beware that you will need a good few hrs to enjoy the area. But also that the Island Queen ferry can be cancelled due to rough weather in the sound between Falmouth harbour and Oak Bluff . All in all it was an enjoyable day 👍

It was a great way to get from The Vineyard to the Cape w/o renting a car. However, it is a bit pricey.

Amazing Staff

By Michael O |

Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. They were more than willing to help my wife with her mobility scooter on and off the ship. We left a package on a bench when we left Martha's vineyard and by the time I realized it and grabbed one of the attendants the captain said they had it and would bring it on the next trip.

We were within walking distance of the Island Queen. Not much to say honestly, we didn't try anything other then take the trip across to Martha's Vineyard.

Nice way to get to Martha's Vineyard

It is a relaxing way to cross the water. There is a snack bar and I believe washrooms. Beer and wine are available at a reasonable cost. The price increased this summer to $22 return

Easy trip to Martha’s Vineyard

Walked from East Falmouth to ferry stop. Got tickets slightly cheaper buying from hotel. Toilets on board and drinks and snacks available. Staff friendly and professional felt safe throughout despite sailing in thick mist.

Safe Sailing

A safe and affordable way to visit Martha's Vineyard. They were on time both ways. The one downfall is that the number and time of sailings in reduced in September. This meant we had fewer options and had to return a bit earlier than we had originally anticipated.

Great ride to the Vineyards

Easy parking just a little walk to the terminal. 20 to park and go early to get a spot. The ship was clean and took us to Martha’s Vineyard. Takes about 30 minutes. There is food on board and the entire crew was so friendly and 5 star all the way!

All aboard

I was able to walk from my resort to the ferry. I didn't arrive early either time and was able to board. The wait area is small and hot in the summer - so take water if you plan to wait.
