We read the other TA reviews so we knew what to expect.
Very modest exhibition. Mainly, photos on the walls. Not much else. Good way to spend an hour.

A yearly visit

By NYCNain |

The Museum is small but for someone who remembers the wonder of the Kennedy years, it is nostalgic, but extremely well done. There is a new special exhibit each year -- this year noting the 20th anniversary of the death of John Jr., with lots of photos never seen before. The rest of the Museum commemorates the campaign and 1960 the year of the election. Lots of family photos.

Very interesting

By waynewalker52 |

We enjoyed the tour of this museum. It was full of interesting stories, memorabilia and photographs.

Worth visiting

By Tsiburi |

We enjoyed our visit. Plenty of family photos and information. Would have liked to see more personal items but the experience overall was positive.

Small affair

By barkus1968 |

This is an interesting little museum that captures Kennedy’s life with lots of photos. I really like the statue outside with a barefoot JFK walking in a beach.
Reasonably priced and mildly interesting.

An inside view of the tragic life of the Kennedys

By arturofranz |

My wife and i were on a fall foliage trip and part of our trip took us to the Cape Cod area. I was most interested in the JFK Hyannis Museum. I was 22 years old when JFK got assassinated in 1964 and needless to say, this museum left me with a deep appreciation for Kennedy as President and family man in comparison to our current Presidency. But it was also a sad reminder for all of us who lived through those horrible days and what was to be additional tragedies for the Kennedys.

The Hyannis Museum is small focusing on his family from the early years til his death. You can get up close and personal with photographs of Kennedy, with Jacqueline, the children and his brothers. There is a small notable wing dedicated to John Jr. which adds to the somberness of the visit. I spent some time viewing the family tree showing the lineage with marriages, births and dates of Rose Kennedy who bore 9 children! You will see other notables like Peter Lawford and Arnold schwarzenegger

All and all, it was an intimate family museum depicting the Kennedy's love of Cape Cod. There is a statue of JFK in front of the museum, walking on a sandy beach...giving you a feel and entree of this Museum dedicated to his love and serenity of this area.

Hidden gem in plain sight. At the heart of Main Street.

Housed in the former Barnstable Town Hall on Main Street Hyannis, sitting between the library and Post Office, and across from Puritan department store, the JFK museum is a must visit for townies and visitors alike. Living here for 11 years, I don’t know why it had taken us so long before our first visit.

Wednesday, mid summer, the place was packed. The main showing was an exhibition of JFK’s official photographer Jacques Lowe. Go soon to catch these iconic photographs. Be a fly on the wall as Jack felt the weight of the Cuban missile crisis. Watch Bobby size-up LBJ soon after JFK picked him as a running mate.

There are many family photographs of the Kennedys - some so old they didn’t yet include Teddy.

The intimacy of the venue reinforces the focus on the Kennedy family, in contrast to the grander Kennedy Presidential library in South Boston, which has more of a political focus.

There are self-guided quiz challenges for both younger school aged children and high schoolers. These are a good vehicle to encourage learning and engagement.

The last room before the gift shop has a large (!) Kennedy family tree starting with Rosemary and Joe Sr.; we found our local US Congressman Joe III, grandson of Bobby. Have a seat on re-purposed JFK (Hyannis Port?) house beams - turned bench.

Plenty of parking in the rear - enter the Town Hall complex off of South Street (one way going east). The town green where summer concerts and craft fairs are held is a stone’s throw away.
The National Guard Armory where Jack gave his election night acceptance speech sits quietly across the South Street parking lot, nearly opposite behind the museum.

Traveling with a baby? Given the popularity of the exhibit, you might want to leave the stroller in the car (not the baby!), and use a baby Björn or something.

I’m going to keep an eye on news of future exhibits, as this is one tourist attraction this local would like to revisit, even when crowded.

Lower your expectations if you have been to Kennedy Library in Boston

By tom646 |

This is a small and well laid out museum that pretty much covers life of the Kennedy's in Hyannis. Mostly clippings from newspapers and magazine cover. Covers very little about the presidency. Not sure if it's worth $11 (seniors), but it it worth visiting.

Gorgeous photos

By plint0n |

Wonderful overview of JFK especially as it relates to Hyannis. Photos are amazing. New exhibit on John Jr. coming so only 2/3 of galleries available when we were there. Suggest about 45 - 60 mins for a visit depending on your interest level.

Definitely stop!

By wilsonoldie |

Hidden gem. I stumbled across it when I was driving around Cape Cod. What a fascinating place. The director gave a presentation on the history of the museum. As I walked around the exhibits I noticed several people wiping away tears. Such a moving experience.

Disappointing

By gilliankendon |

Although it was full of beautiful pictures of an elegant and optimistic time, there was very little interesting information about what the Kennedys actually achieved when in government.

A big disappointment

By lambs1 |

Well,if you are like me and know a lot about the Kennedys, you will be sorely disappointed in this old rundown museum. Nothingi hasn’t seen before.

Nothing to say, not even for a rainy day

By veroschi |

lol - nothing more to say . what a lack of respect . bad copies of bad pictures of old magazines, all repeated in different rooms of a building that has nothing to do with the Kennedy family . We stayed for an hour only because we had payed the ticket but not worth for even 10 minutes

Bus tour

By carlenet2014 |

Small intimate place. Photography is amazing
You leave there feeling as you just visited with the family personally.

Well put together

By Julie S |

Well put together but it was just photo shoots of the Kennedy family with cations. Nothing I haven’t seen many times before.

JFK's Life as Father, Husband, Congressman & President

By Rhomey M |

The museum really broke down the different eras of JFK's life as a father, husband, congressman and president. Very well done.

Awesome Visual Memories!

By ladymcbeth2017 |

Anyone who lived through the Kennedy years will appreciate this. Great photography (by WH photographer) and history of the Kennedy family and the connection to Hyannis. A part of the Kennedy Trail through Hyannis. Thoroughly appreciated all of it.

Small, but Interesting

By Linda P |

The JFK Hyannis Museum focuses on the Kennedy family's connection to Hyannis, and the pictures, video, and items are quite interesting as well as reasonably priced. It's helpful to also take the self-guided walking tour of various spots in the town to give you a real feel for why the Kennedys chose to spend so much time there.

I enjoyed this

By Hollywood0653 |

So many photos of the Kennedy's, a room of Robert Kennedy, a movie of the JFK paid $10.00 for senior admission,

By adam n |

Good views from a photographers point of view, lacking a lot of memorabilia. Roughly 4 rooms to see and a few short videos. Great to relive this point in American history but was expecting a bit more for the cost of $13 per adult to get in

JFK Museum, Hyannis

By gsherb96 |

Fantastic place to visit, we visited the JFK Library & Museum in Boston but this seemed more personal. Links JFK with the community of Hyannis and beautifully set out. Well worth a visit.

Great Look at the Life of JFK!

By Ginger M |

A perfect reminder of who JFK was and the great man's history well told in the beautiful museum. Teh tribute is poutstanding and we visit there each time we go to Hyannis!!

Grand Adventure Part 3

By Kathy M |

The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The museum is self guided so no need to hurry. Pictures and videos informative

On holidays from Ireland

By Mark |

Fabulous museum. Staff so friendly and helpful and informative. A wonderful experience. Learned so much more about JFK. We were on a family holiday from Ireland in the cape and took time out to visit which was very worthwhile.

Nice, though a bit underwhelming

By richardbX5181NL |

Visited with my wife, who is a Kennedy junkie. The exhibit is mostly pictures, some of which even my wife (who owns every Kennedy book known to man) had never seen. The layout doesn't flow very well, you aren't sure where to go next once inside. There is a nicely done short video and a rather cool family tree on a wall. It would have been nice to see a little more specific to Hyannisport (the compound, house, etc.) but overall it was worth the time and money.

A wonderful experience!

By lisaglavin2018 |

Great tribute to President Kennedy! It covered everything from his early years to his family life, his achievements and his presidency and long lasting effects. A must see!

Worth a Visit

By Larry E |

Captures the connection with Cape Cod. Spend 1 hour just remembering the time and importance of the Kennedy's.

Brilliant

By Julie g |

We stopped on a rainy morning and were so glad we did as it was great.

Lots of beautiful photos plus videos to watch and very informative

Staff were lovely too - well worth a visit if you like JFK

A wonderful celebration of Kennedy and his family

By Rosilyn2016 |

This is not the expansive Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston. It is an intimate celebration of his and his family's love of the Cape. Lowe's photography was breathtaking. I can't believe some of the reviews I read denigrating them. We spent an hour and could have stayed longer. And I am not your died-in-the-wool Kennedy fanatic. In fact, I don't have much time for the family. But this was a fitting memorial to all that was good about him. I am very glad I went.

Went to visit

By O8504MTdavidr |

I kind a new memorial museum is great place to visit. Me and my wife learn a lot it’s a lot of fun and family and friends . And a good staff to and had a room dedicated for Kennedy Junior. Very highly recommended

Great small museum

By marksacc |

Always learn something! Great info the family tree was interesting and how long ago it all was is surprising !!!

New Insights

By Gary W |

Visited museum. Cost of $12 reasonable. Saw lots of photos that hadn't seen before which gave new insights into the Kennedys. Lovely video on Walter Cronkite. Well wort the visit.

A trip down memory lane and a history lesson for the youth

By Chicagoehc |

Worth a visit to see the President captured in many phases of his life. Life for him in the area is captured through film and photographic stills. I saw Grandparents explaining the president to grandchildren - very moving. There was some type of treasure hunt children's activities. I would recommend it. Nice and clean museum.

Intersting

By ekseaman |

Brings back memories. The pictures are fabulous. Right in the center of town. Been there several times

Very well done.

By TriDmn |

So happy we took the time to visit. We also we r to the memorial down by the water. Both are very well done. I learned a little more about his life and was happy to visit.

Very good

By Ivan Tsanev |

Very good museum with very useful information for one of most famous presidents in American history. I've been here multiple times

This is the Night

By TonyBostn |

If you are wanting Italian. This is the place, great food and atmosphere. If you listen, you can hear Italian accents in the air. The food was great. A nice place for a romantic dinner or a family meal.

Kennedy Life on the Cape

By Carol Ann J |

A visit to John F Kennedy Hyannis Museum is worthwhile when in the area. We enjoyed viewing the many photos of the family, and short video clips.

Interesting history.

By Liverneck2002 |

Spent a hour at the JFK museum in Hyannis. Nice photos-not a lot to see. Interesting history but the museum is small. 14 dollars is a little steep considering how much time it took to go through. There are some relics but if you have been to the jfk library in Boston there is not much new learned here.

Would give 3.5 stars.

Very informative

By mpagan3291 |

The JFK museum was very informative.
I would recommend a visit there. It takes about 60-90 minutes to go through it.

Recommend!

By JLB_ATL |

Wonderful place, so many photos and stories to view. It was not crowded and we enjoyed learning about JFK and his family life.

Very Informative - Highly recommend

By Vicky N |

Even though I lived during President Kennedy's time in office, I learned so much more about his personal life and especially his love of water.

Return vist disappointment

By Trip302698 |

I was a little disappointed on the information on JFK as there was hardly any on what his accomplishments were during his Presidency or how LBJ took over afterwards. I had been to the museum in the fall of 2002 and enjoyed the museum much more than my visit yesterday. We took our college boys to visit with the expectation of them to learn more about JFK and his time in office. The pictures displayed are nice but only provide information on him on a personal view. Duplicate pictures displayed and not many artifacts. My overall experience was that the display was boring and redundant. We did like the added info on John Jr at the end as that was a mice addition.

Excellent Museum

By cohoman |

My family visited this museum while staying in Yarmouth. We found it to be an excellent presentation of JFK's life. The museum mainly consisted of photos from the Kennedy's personal photographer, Jacques Lowe. Because of this, no photos were allowed in the museum. Most of the content was JFK's early life and election campaigning. There was no mention of the assassination. There's also a 6 ft bronze statue of JFK in front of the museum. Plenty of free parking behind the building. Hight recommended.

Stop by if you’re interested

By R C |

I enjoyed my time at this museum during a short visit to Hyannis. I was in a bit of a hurry so I completed it in about an hour (didn’t stop and read every single thing) but did feel that I learned a good bit about the Kennedy family, JFK, and their connection to the Cape Cod area. It’s worth a visit if this is something that interests you!

Museum

By 742sunflowergirl |

The museum is neither too big or too small. A perfect size museum where even non-enthusiast will enjoy because it’s not overwhelming. Very tasteful done

A nice visit

By Leigh B |

This is a small museum but worth a visit. Takes about 20 mins to get around. Central location on Main Street, Hyannis. Entry for an adult is $12 each.

JFK

By tremy_12 |

Great museum with great footage and pictures. If you are a Kennedy fan this is for you.
Not to mention this is hometown and where the compound is located. You can actually drive past it.
So fascinating. Great day

JFK Museum was very interesting!

By David P |

They had some cool pictures, and memorabilia from his entire life. I would suggest a visit for sure.

Museum

By GMAPat |

Great place to visit. Amazing photos and interesting information. A must see if visiting the area. There is also a room dedicated to John Jr.

Very well done exhibits

By Paula W |

The "Camelot" exhibit was very well done and informative. The photography of the personal lives of the Kennedy's was beautiful.

The exhibit on Robert Kennedy was moving. I would have liked to know more about the development and planning of the National Seashore that President Kennedy initiated. I would love an exhibit on Jackie Kennedy's wardrobe.

Nice museum

By ct1108 |

While in Hyannis we visited the JFK Museum. It was a very nice museum. You will learn a lot about the always interesting Kennedy family. Very clean and quaint.

Commemorating JFK

By Beth R |

The photography is beautiful. This place is ideal if you like to read. It's self guided. No memorabilia, just lots of fantastic photography. Kids would probably be bored.

Walking through a time capsule

By Ted B |

This is a wonderful exhibit, especially for those of us who actually experienced the Kenney years. It was fascinating to see JFK with his family in a relaxed, real life environment.

The attendants at the museum were extremely helpful. Thanks to all!

Informative

By lovetoteach964 |

This was a small but informative museum highlighting JFK’s summers in Hyannis both before and during his presidency. We spent about an hour there. This is not the same as his Presidential Library located just south of Boston.

Interesting visit

By daylate |

If you would like a brief history recap of JFK and this wife and brothers this is the place to be. Short interesting stories to go with the photos.

Well done-Low key museum

By Spiegs1968 |

A nicely done, low key museum which is essentially a series of photo galleries set inside the historic town hall. Powerful depictions of key points in JFKs life with a rotating gallery that happens to feature RFK at the moment. If you are looking for artifacts, there are a few but this may not be the best place. They do a great job of explaining the size and scope of the dynasty. I didn’t mind the entry cost but the entry fee here seems a little high for what you get.

JFK artifacts and treasure!

By Ashley T. |

On Main Street Hyannis, there is a large statue of JFK that one can stand next to and makes for a great photo. When you enter the museum, there are steps but I'm sure the staff or customers could assist. The gift shop could not be maneuvered in a wheelchair but perhaps a walker. The staff is accommodating and kinds. Little tip... When customers are coming out they have these stickers that are good for an all day pass. If you're being frugal, most of them would offer the pass. Besides, I dropped way more in the gift shop then the price of admission!( the gift shop is not part of the entrance fee) I was impressed as I thought I knew most things about JFK. In particular there is a letter to his father that is Well written and JFK was only a young young man and yet he formally and with a bit of eloquence requested a higher allowance from his father. There are other facts (and relics) that will blow you away! Definitely a must-see if you are staying in the Hyannis area, but if you are going during the summer season, I would actually avoid it. Main Street Hyannis will be packed with Taurus and it will be impossible to find a parking space for free on the street, unless you are handicapped. Even then, I would call ahead to any restaurant or this Museum to inquire about assistance with this. I have found in traveling that people really do want to help! To be honest I would avoid Cape Cod all together from late June until the end of the season.

Could be better

By rslaaliensr |

It is all photos! I know a lot about Jack kennedy and I was disapointed! This was more about Jacques Lowe photos! The photos are very good! Sorry!

Cape Cod visit

By Karen C |

Very interesting and informative. The movie was great. The photos and captions brought back memories from the 60’s. Thank you

A true Kennedy narrative.

By Barbara S |

The museum was filled with historical documents, pictures and films that were revealing of that time period. The atrium on the bay was the perfect place to reflect the Kennedy legend.

Worth a visit

By RandyRoss |

On the way to Provincetown and after visiting the Scargo Tower, we went to the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum in Hyannis MA. The museum is housed in the former Hyannis Town Hall building, which was occupied by the town until the 1980s. Joe, John and Robert Kennedy all owned houses in nearby Hyannis Port (2 miles from Hyannis).
This nice, small museum was definitely worth a stop.

Great history

By Slick5276 |

This is a great place showing the history of the Kennedy’s on Cape Cod. Nice flow to displays. Worth the stop.

By Nora Kennedy |

Nice small museum about JFK and family. Not large so if it's more crowded (we went on a rainy day) it's hard to move around. Lots of photos and reading, which provides great information! It's a unique little spot worth checking out!

Nice museum memorializing a great man

By Susan W |

Nice small museum with friendly staff and beautiful photographic exhibits. We enjoyed the hour and a half that we spent there and loved seeing photos that hadn’t been published before from Jacques Lowe’s contact sheets.

Waste of time and money... no restrooms

By TriD |

Not worth the money. Buy or take a library book out to read. This is not a very good museum. No bathrooms! Most of the visitors I saw were elderly. Help not very helpful. This was overcrowded with nothing to see. There are a lot of things to do in Hyannis, but visiting this museum is not one of them. From the outside the building looks impressive, but it’s not the case.

Small Meaningful Museum

By JoeQ63 |

We visited the John F Kennedy Museum and were treated to a meaningful look into John Kennedy’s life both family and public. The photos gave us an intimate view of his charisma and what we as a country lost

Bad Customer Service

By weberstump |

It was 4:00pm and the lady wouldn’t sell us admission tickets because she said they were closing at 4:45pm today. I said we would pay full admission but she still wouldn’t. We were from Iowa and wouldn’t be back! Very Poor customer service! Sad Really! I did buy some things from the gift shop, she did take my money then!

Don't pass up this Museum in Hyannis

By Les F |

Although this is a small museum, the displays are very good that depict JFK's years of presidency. The timeline is 1960-1963. Several interactive displays and videos, as well as pictures are contained in the Museum. The Museum preserves and promotes the legacy of President Kennedy, his family, and their deep connection to Cape Cod.

A wonderful tribute ....

By Lisa W |

My husband and I really enjoyed the JFK Museum. Knowing the Kennedy connection to the area since vacationing here as I child, I wanted to stop in the museum to pay my respects to one of the greatest Presidents our country has had.

The timelines and photographs were wonderful. My favorite part of the museum is the wonderful sculpture out front. I love how it is presented with JFK walking in the sand representing the love he had for the area.

I recommend it to families so their children can learn more about him and his family.

Fantastic Exhibit

By DMJ |

The photos in Creating Camelot were spellbinding and not all have been made available to the public prior to this exhibit. The video narrated by Walter Cronkite captured the essence of life at the Kennedy Compound. So many memories to tug at ones heartstrings. So many reasons to be proud of the Kennedy devotion to public service.

Save your money, pass this by and spend five minutes on Google

By William C |

This was a total disappointment. The exhibit recently in the library of my town of 2100 people was more extensive. The staff seemed completely uninterested in their jobs.

Small and concise museum

By RachelIsrael |

Beautiful photos of the Kennedys. Well organized and concise. Free Parking behind the building. We enjoyed very much hearing the guide Larry. I believe the museum can benefit if they add more digital elements.

Fascinating step back into Hyannis Connection to JFK & Family

By bt2058 |

Small museum does an excellent job recounting JFK’s personal and public life, and illustrating the families connection to Hyannis and Cape Cod.

Definitely worth the small entry fee and time spent.

Hynannis weekly walk

By Jessica N |

Went on the Hyannis walk on Wednesday (Monday and Wednesday in Hyassis), and it was wonderful. Not too long, and gave additional insight into the history of Hyannis and the entire area. The guide (Peggy) is knowledgeable, and interesting. Highlights included brief stops at the cemeteries, churches and lots of discussion. Definitely worthwhile.

Small but intense

By tiatoo |

We we're lucky enough to be there for intimate photos taken of the family before, during the campaign, and after the election. The choice of media shots helped portray "Camelot' as intended. I particularly enjoyed the shots of Caroline. When you see the contact sheets of all the pictures taken you really appreciate the talent of the photographer. The accompanying text provides much historical context. Plan to spend 45 mins to one hour at a none busy time. More if a bus load pulls up.

A small gem in Hyannis

By cubana1952 |

This is a wonderful small museum. I am an admirer of JFK and this was a must see stop for me. This museum, though small, covers all aspects of JFK's life and I learned some interesting facts while on my visit. There is a special exhibit of RFK and also on JFK Jr. My husband is not big on museums, but he accompanied me on my visit, and he said he enjoyed his visit. The very reasonable admission price makes this museum a must see if you are in Hyannis.

Interesting and moving!

By Glenn S |

We are interested in all history and like a lot of people the Kennedy's hold a keen interest in the history of USA for us.
They are very much part of the history around Hyannis, and we enjoyed this beautiful exhibition of photograhos and imagery.

very interesting

By jdhoga |

My husband and I enjoyed the museum very much. So many great photos and videos to see. We were there for a while getting lost in the history of it all. A good take-in.

Very interesting - worth a look

By NorwichSteve |

The museum is basically a collection of pictures and videos, along with some of JFK's most famous quotations. It gives a fascinating insight into how difficult it was back then ( and no doubt still is) to balance the huge Presidential responsibilities with also being a real family man.
Watching his inauguration speech shows what a brilliant orator he was and his passion for his country - very inspirational I should think if you are American.
A real statesman and this museum is a celebration of that - well worth a visit.

Kennedy Museum

By charlieandsusangist |

A very good museum about Kennedy when he was growing up in Hyannis. They had alot of interesting facts about him in there.Interesting to go see and learn about Kennedy.

Reliving Camelot

By Libraldy |

Museum is nicely done. Very large photos and lots of information is presented. You must enjoy reading to enjoy this museum. Nothing is interactive....you must read to gather the info. It’s very comprehensive for a little museum. We really enjoyed the experience and helped bring back the Kennedy years.

Enjoyable!

By Monica F |

I spent around an hour and a half looking at pictures and reading about the pictures. I felt that the museum was well worth the admission fee.

Fascinating and worth a visit!!

By GeorgiaLucy41 |

We knew this museum was here, just had never visited. Finally did, and it was very interesting. Lots of restored photos of JFK and family, with very interesting history of each one. Also small exhibit on RFK which was also very good!

HISTORY TOLD, WORTH A VISIT

By glogodschild50 |

This museum is interesting and brought back memories good and bad. The family was a well rounded group and the museum is a good reflection of their beliefs of family closeness and cohesiveness.
Many pictures and the beautiful Jackie stole the show.
If you are in the area.....you must go by to see it. Will not take you long to view all the rooms and view the video.

Lots of info of the Kennedy family

By william stevens |

One think I really liked was free parking behind the building n restrooms. The museum has more in it then the size of the building looks like. Loaded with family history

Kennedy Museum

By Frank F |

In the middle of downtown Hyannis. nice sized parking lot behind the museum that allows access to main street Hyannis and all the shops and restaurants. Very inspirational place. Must see when in Hyannis!

Lovely and moving

By catchessie |

We were there when the photo exhibit was there. It was incredibly moving to see pictures of this beloved president and his family up close. The museum is wonderful!

Worth a Visit

By CdnDiveGal |

A bit pricey at $13, however if you are interested in the Kennedy history and connection to the area it is worth it. The photos were interesting and there was interesting details about the family. Didn't feel rushed at all.

I Hate to Say This but ...

By Geoffrey N |

I remember when JFK was assassinated even though I lived in England. We were devastated.
I hoped the museum would overwhelm me with memories, unfortunately I was underwhelmed.
Heresy, particularly in Hyannis, but it would almost be fairier to name it after the photographer.
Just one man's opinion, one disappointed man.

Review of visit to JFK Hyannis Museum August 2021

By SJC43E |

The main exhibit is called “Creating Camelot” and is on one level about how photography created the image we have of JFK and the enduring beauty and grace of Jacqueline. It is also a portrait of the Kennedy family, the relationship of Jack and Jacqueline, and the vision of his administration. A special treat was a side exhibit on Bobby Kennedy. The humanity of that man was incredible. If you share what was his vision for the world and realize what might and could have been it will leave you in tears. I highly recommend it.

A beautiful museum about our much beloved President JFK.

By smartcookie1916 |

As someone who deeply respects President JFK and his brother Robert, I knew that I wanted to visit this museum while in Cape Cod. The museum is set up as a time line of President JFK's life. The photographs and videos allow viewers to see him both professionally and personally. There is also a beautiful room that honors the memory of JKF Jr. I especially enjoyed the photos taken of President Kennedy with his wife Jackie and their children Caroline and John. Make sure you head over to the JFK Memorial while you are in Hyannis. It too, is a beautiful tribute to our much beloved President.

Small museum with a big story

By thetravelorganizer |

The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum on Main Street in Hyannis currently has 3 exhibits: “Ripple of Hope” (focusing on the life and legacy of Robert F. Kennedy), “Creating Camelot” (on loan from the Newseum in Washington, D.C.) features an extensive portfolio of intimate and iconic photographs taken by Jacques Lowe, JFK’s personal photographer and “JFK at 100” (which celebrates the centennial of JFK’s birth and the place he loved and called home – Cape Cod).

Small museum

By Dutchie33 |

A very small museum that is just one floor of the building. Part of it is a gift shop. The museum was very well done but I thought the price was a little steep for what there was. Adult is $13.00 Senior is $11.00 I don't think it was worth the $24.00 we paid. There was some interesting exhibits. I was surprised that there was no real mention of his assassination.

The bonus is you can park behind the museum for free (up to 6 hours). There are washrooms in the building beside the parking lot. No washroom in the museum itself.

Since we could park for 6 hours we walked the main street and down to the harbour without having to pay for any parking.

By VanillaAce |

If you are a JFK fan, this is a must see in Hyannis. Excellent photographs with commentary documenting JFK’s life. Worth the price of admission.

Lots of pictures and Hyannis-oriented details

By babystepper |

Probably best for tweens and adults, as our July 2019 visit almost all the items were (often rare) photos with (very detailed) captions. There are also docents to answer questions, and a short film as well.

This small but very interesting museum is in the old Town Hall. Fascinating read-it-all displays for us adults :)

There is a town parking lot right behind the museum with free parking. Also an easy stroll down to the harbor from here (the Rotary has several handy maps/activity guides posted around town, including in front of the museum near the sidewalk).

A bit photo heavy

By Darren G |

As others have said, this is a moving experience and covers the history of the Kennedys well as a story. However, if you already know a fair bit about the Kennedys, you may find this doesn't add that much as it's fairly reliant on photographs rather than artifacts. However, some of these photos are "rare" ones you won't have seen elsewhere. So maybe a little expensive for what it is.

That said, this is still a key destination for travellers to Hyannis.

A glimpse back in time

By karenguido77 |

Very interesting getting a glimpse into the life of the Kennedy family spending time in Hyannisport.

Very informative museum

By socntytiger |

Loved 5his museum as it gave an incite I did not know about JFK. there is a parking lot. Admission was $11 for seniors. Allow 1-1.5 hours to view.

Very well-done and professional!

By Sue Sintk |

This is a very quaint and moving exhibit about the life of our former President, JFK. It is a small museum, but they surprisingly covered his entire life! My children enjoyed this, as it gave them new insight. Very well-done. My kids also enjoyed a scavengar-hunt activity that was going on, it gave them something to do. There was a nice short film which was very interesting, as well as a cute themed gift shop. Accompanying this, my family went on a boat tour of the Hyannis Harbor and we had the opportunity to see the Kennedy's family homes. Very interesting!!! Definitely a must-see in Hyannis.

Excellent museum showing the Kennedy’s family life at Hyannis Port.

A different take on the Kennedys as the museum focuses on their life in Hyannis Port. Includes many delightful photos and films of family life at their family compound at Hyannis.

Nice glimpse into the 60s and the Kennedy family

By Mary Ellen B |

The JFK museum is worth a stop, lots of photos which are more meaningful to those who can remember the era in which JFK was president. Allow at least an hour to give yourself time to read the information with each photo which makes it much more meaningful, especially if you have any interest in the Kennedy family. Nice glimpse into the era and the family. Gift shop is small, museum totes are a practical bargain at a dollar. Bathrooms are located outside in the back parking lot.

Chills

By Nancy K |

What a wonderful Museum. Reading and listening and looking at everything was amazing. Memory filled visit

What a great little museum

By Wilma1922 |

we bought a discount ticket on Groupen...and we were not sure what to expect. This is a small, well laid out and very informative museum. Like Cape Cod in general, the welcome was warm and this was a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. Highly recommend. The photographs are numerous, and well laid out and tell the Kennedy story and presidency with great impact.

Disappointing

By dolphinO2 |

Missed going here on the last trip to Hyannis so made sure to go this time. Hyannis has such an association with the Kennedys, but as other reviewers have said, this is a very small museum and was really just photos. Given that this museums is specific to their time in Hyannis, more information could be provided on the history of the houses and compound, the family's involvement in the community, houses on Martha's Vineyard, . etc. it was not worth the $13 admission.

The JFK HYANNIS PORT PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND MUSUEM

By Ethan L |

It was such a fun experience I enjoyed learning all about the Kennedy family history
I would definitely come back again and get to experience it again w my family

My husband's choice

By Katherine P |

A difficult topic was handled very nicely. We enjoyed the photos and explanations . The set up of the museum flowed well. I have recommended it to friends.

Anyone who doesn’t appreciate this place

By John J |

I have been interested in history my entire life and learned an incredible amount about something here: the power of photography. These images are not available outside of this museum and capture emotion and tenderness among the Kennedy family like I’ve never seen. Many of these images also helped JFK win the election and changed history.

Disappointed

By Beth G |

Lot of money just to look at photos of the family. Was very disappointed. For 26 dollars for the both of us to just look at photos - many I have seen before

Neat museum; worth a stop

By Ryan B |

Wonderful history in a historic building. Great timeline of historical events. The photography is beautiful

Glad I went

By Tim K |

My wife insisted & I was somewhat hesitant, but as usual she was right about spending time at the Kennedy Museum. The museum is much more than a fluffy exhibit of a president who was lost to us too early. I took away a much better understanding of a man raised in a prominent family. How he & his siblings were raised, the struggles & triumphs. I found it well worth my time & money to visit.

Well presented

By Richard M |

Staying in Hyannis, this was a must see and did not disappoint. A well thought out and attractively displayed exhibition. Really makes one wonder what might have been

Great stop for a JFK enthusiast

By klc3z |

Great stop for either a Kennedy enthusiast or history buff. Lots of fantastic photos of John, Jackie and the Kennedy family. Probably a bit boring for kids, but trends and above would enjoy this stop. I’d allow about an hour from start to finish, as it’s a fairy quick walk through (even with reading every caption). Overall, it’s Well done for a small museum.

Worth visiting

By NickPT |

Friendly and informative staff. Small museum, no 3/d artifacts, only photo exhibits which are well done.
Interesting, especially for people who remember the Kennedys; John, Robert and Jackie. Includes images of JFK and Jackie during the early 1950s.
Marred only by the poorly executed, figurative sculpture of JFK out front. Plan about an hour.

Wonderfully set up

By SLynnS03 |

They have plenty of parking. Easy to navigate around and you can spend as much time as you need. The photos and memorabilia are great. The only negitive thing is the gift shop is way too small and it gets very crowded.

Trip to Cape Cod

By Tammy H |

My husband and I visited this museum on our 51st Anniversary trip to Cape Cod.We really enjoyed the displays and information.Thank You.

I really learned a lot

By Devon A |

And the photos were stunning. I am so glad we went. The Kennedys story unfolds through their official photographer. Stunning and informative

Amazing photography

By Jeffcornwall |

An amazing collection of historic of the life of John F Kennedy. What we liked was that it did not focus on his tragic death.

Worth a visit

By FeliciaDawn |

This museum is small and intimate, especially compared to theJFK Museum and Library in Boston. We enjoyed seeing the Creating Camelot photo exhibit which really conveyed the warmth and family atmosphere of the president and his family.

A More Intimate View of John Kennedy

By 77mic |

This small museum focuses on John Kennedy through his early years, his his family and their relationship to Hyannis, and life outside the White House as well as some important points in his career. There is an excellent short film narrated by Walter Cronkite that plays continuously for those who want to enjoy it.

What Could Have Been?

By Kevin J |

Experience history before your eyes as you relive the past. The Kennedy`s have been a part of the American political scene before I was born and still have a lasting impression. The feeling throughout the museum is 'What Could Have Been?' That is the thought I have for all those leaders who were slain - President John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Medgar Evers, Attorney General Robert Kennedy and all the countless volunteers whose lives were cut short during that era.

Great Museum

By cburns2014 |

This is a great little museum that gives a nice overview of JFK's life. I took two young children who were very interested in the pictures and the story of JFK. The statue out front is great, looks like JFK walking along the beach in Hyannis. It doesn't take long to go through and is a nice break from the beach.

An interesting and worthwhile place to visit.

By Dr-Ing-Dchen |

Lots of parking and convenient to the main street of Hyannis. It is an inexpensive museum, but one that you can walk through as you wish. There are folks on staff there who volunteer more detailed information and you can ask questions of them too. They have done an amazing job restoring the pictures from only the contact sheets, as we were told the original negatives were destroyed in the attack on the WTC. I appreciated the family history, touches, and information. While I was very young when he was president, it brought back a lot of sad memories that someone's life could be cut short so soon. It is worth a stop!

JFK the early years

By Lorraine B |

Easy self-guided tour mostly of the early political years and family; spread across 4 or 5 rooms in a nice old building, all on one floor. Can be done easily in one hour. Many large photos with short, easy to read essays along side. One short video with seating. Would not recommend for young children. Teens might find it boring too unless there is some curiosity or interest on their part.

Very moving exhibits

By Joanne K |

The pictures and exhibits were very moving. It was great to learn more detail about JFK, Jackie and the family and the events of their lives. It was also moving to see the exhibit on JFK, Jr. The museum is not that big, but it is well-done and worth it.

Very interesting to see

By janetawatts |

So many beautiful pictures. Although you weren't allowed to take pictures understandable as photographer's copyright. Wonderful to see especially if you'd been to JFK presidential library in Boston beforehand.

Copies of pictures

By Truthfultraveler1 |

This really is a just an overpriced place playing on the Kennedy name. One chair and a couple letters are all that are original. The rest was all photos of photos with no real substance. Even the shop is a wannabe shop with almost everything including the American flags, made in China. A true disservice to the Kennedy name.

Simple but attractive and moving museum!

By Joseph T |

A well-done, attractive museum that is a tribute to the man, the times and the community that made him who he was. We thoroughly enjoyed, and were moved by, the simple but impressive presentation of JFK’s history.

Interesting museum

By Pen10poppy |

A small museum dedicated to the Kennedy family and mainly JFK which is very interesting with lots of videos and pictures relating to them. The Kennedy compound is a short drive away.

Great insight to a great man!

By RobboH |

Second visit to the museum and it was great to see improvements to the exhibits being constantly made. The Jacques Lowe exhibition of family photos was great with the highlight being the picture of Bobby Kennedy failing to hide his dislike of Lyndon Johnson at a meeting with the Kennedy boys.

Never seen before photos of the family

By Margaret |

Excellent exhibit of private never before seen kennedy family photos. Museum is small but the presentation was very well thought out and displayed.

Excellent museum for adults

By Jennifer R |

This was an excellent hour and a half. There are some really beautiful and telling pictures displayed here and the information is set out well. It tells the Kennedy story well and with grace. The shop was also lovely and we spent quite a bit of money in there on books and socks etc. We had a three year old with us who behaved really well, but it is not really suitable for small children as it is all writing and images. Excellent for older children and adults however. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in the Kennedys or history.

worth the visit

By Arkansas Traveler |

We were on the fence about spending time to see this museum, but are glad we did -- we enjoyed many photos not published anywhere else; the temporary/on loan exhibit was a nice treat. Staff is very knowledgable and welcoming.

Interesting!

By Marla P |

Learned a lot about JFK as I was very young when he was in office, and the new JFK junior addition had just opened they did a very nice job with that.

Its okay!

By 769marianh |

Lots of photos on the walls with descriptions for you to read. It does cover the whole Kennedy clan from Joe and Rose all the way down. Interesting for younger people and people not familiar with the family. It was worth the price of admission, $12. $14.00

Loving tribute to Hyannis' first family

By jennifer821 |

I wandered in here when my toddler decided to nap in her stroller. I found it extremely informative and a really loving tribute to the Kennedy clan. At the time of my visit, there was an exhibit to Ethel and one on the relationship between Jack and Bobby, all well done

O.K. If you are a jfk syncophant

By Steve K |

Wanted to kill some time in the afternoon so we stopped by. 22 bucks per senior was a little high for this museum. All pictures. A ten minute looped video, and jfk's rocking chair. Not really worth the price. They did have a statue of jfk in front and covienent parking in the back. There are benches where I people watched as Rosie shopped.

School Project Day Trip.

By Mark W |

Last minute my son needed to visit a place of historical interest. After talking about a few different place - we live in Connecticut- we thought of the JFK Museum in Hyannis.
What a great little emersion into the story of the Kennedy family.
A short video, and a lot of labeled pictures, broken up into separate little areas and both my son (16) and I came away with a great view of this family and man.
We were there about 2 plus hours, and definitely could have gone thru faster, but he needed to write a detailed paper for School.

Across the street... plenty of food and shops, parking, right in downtown.

I wouldn't go with younger kids, but he was definitely the right age.
And he got and A on his paper!

Don't miss this unassuming place of tribute and remembrance to JFK

By RoadTripper516 |

Almost skipped this museum.....that would have been a big mistake. On the outside, the museum seems to be not a big deal; but what a personal, memorabilia and information filled place focusing on JFK and his family's history. The staff (I'm assuming volunteers) were soooo charming, helpful and friendly. I learned so much and truly enjoyed my time. I believe there was an $11 fee with other discounts for active service members.

Wonderful photographic exhibition

By Sue H |

If you are fascinated by the Kennedy story this is a must. At the moment they are running a fascinating photographic exhibition offering an insight to the Kennedy family life in Hyannis Port. Definitely worth a visit.

Not impressed!

By PTPT |

Very small. Thought it would have more artifacts. Basically just pictures with a caption below to read. Small gift shop.

Nice little intro to JFK

By Tristatetraveler365 |

Nice introduction to jfk library we saw next day.
Interesting to find out how much time he actually spent in Hyannis ( all most every weekend and Hyannis port role in presidency

Nice Museum

By john c |

Even though we were planning to go to the JFK Library in Boston we decided to see what this museum was about. We were pleasantly surprised. It mainly covered the time he spent at the family compound in Hyannis. Very interesting and well laid out. Had some some facts my wife and I didn’t know. Had one room dedicated to RFK. We spent about an hour or so there.

Free parking in the rear of the museum. People who grow up in the 60’s may find it more interesting than those younger.

Worth the visit

By Anne K |

Very informative and interesting facts about the Kennedy family. Also, beautiful photographs and videos.

A very good collection of the work and life

By Jens F. |

Although it's mostly only a photographer documentation, this museum gives you a deeper look into JFK and his family. You'll see the rise and fall of him. Sometimes it isn't always in a chronological order but the visitor won't get lost in all those information. The people working for the museum are very friendly and always very helpful if you have any questions or something is not clear.

Pleasantly surprised

By Roving815550 |

We were a little sceptical about spending money for this attraction, but we're glad we did. Interesting pictures of President Kennedy and his family. There is also a short film narrated by Walter Cronkite about the life of Kennedy. This museum focuses on Kennedy's time in Hyannis Port. There is a room dedicated to John Jr., that just opened the week of our visit.

Lots of information!

By Sunking2 |

Mostly pictures and posters here with a few momentums that were hand written. There was a good film clip that ran continuously about JFK. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Nice museum

By patricia B |

Nice little museum ! I and friends of mine spent time in Hyannis for visiting family couple weeks ago and we stop by to this museum and we enjoyed it !

Well worth the fee

By aljrg90 |

I can remember exactly where I was the day President Kennedy was shot. A definite. Shares family history of both Jacqueline and John, their young family in the White House. Shares family from that era of politics until now. Thoroughly enjoyed my 1 1/2 hours inside the museum

Don’t bother

By John T |

This museum is nothing but newspaper clippings and photos. If you expect to see artifacts from his presidency go to the library in Boston.
I felt ripped off.

John F Kennedy Hyannis Museum

By PandyPandora |

A lovely little museum on the main street focusing on the Kennedy family's summer holidays in Hyannis. There is also a JFK trail to follow around the town. Interesting.

Disorganized museum

By Scoba |

If it's raining and you have nothing else to do, this may be okay. There are very little artifacts in this "museum". It's mostly a propaganda house for the Kennedy family. It is also the worst organized museum that I have every attended. There are "rooms" sectioned off, but there is no order between the rooms. There is no chronological order whatsoever and it is hard to follow. Not worth the visit unless you are already a diehard Kennedy fan and just want to reinforce your beliefs.

Informative & left us wanting more!

By Joanne S |

If you take time and read the stories & captions of the pictures it is very interesting. As I walked through kept thinking I would like something I haven't seen or read before! Great presentation and worth the ticket price.

excellent

By karen L |

Wonderful museum; showed the Kennedy story. Movies and items from the home. I thought it was excellent afternoon.

Great museum- worth a visit.

By E C |

Photos were really excellent. An emotional tribute. Well done. Entire group enjoyed the experience.

Not really a museum and lacks uniqueness

By Rainmkr2004 |

Been vacationing in Osterville and thought I’d spend an hour visiting. Was disappointed. Nothing new.

Awesome

By Ted M |

Really enjoyed the museum. It was very informative and you can walk around at your leisure, take your time and discover what a great man President Kennedy was as well as his family. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Kennedy nostalgia

By Eric W |

This single floor small museum skims over the Kennedy family history. As if you were living in the 60's the museum paints JFK and RFK as family men who gravitated toward government service because Joe died in WWII. If you are a fan of the Kennedy mystique and Camelot this is the place for you. The photos and memorabilia are wonderful. If you are a fan of history and a summation of the pluses and minuses of the Kennedy history please stay away.

Not what we expected

By lucy30740 |

Nice building and professional quality exhibits. But the exhibits are 95% pictures….. and I had already seen most of them. I expected to see some things that had belonged to The Kennedy’s. Nothing there, except pictures. No go out of your way to visit.

Everything you want to know about the Kennedys

By Serguei2016 |

The museum offers a nice overview of both JFK's life and career as well as the whole family's history. They have lots of information in one place - pictures, video recordings, print documents, artifacts and historical charts/ references. I learned a lot about JFK, Jackie and the rest of the family that I probably wouldn't have been able to find out unless I was to read a number of books on the subject or do my own research.

Worth a Visit

By RosieTholl |

This is a small but definitely historical, interesting museum that also included a separate room for RFK. Lots of pictures in both rooms (but no picture taking allowed) and a small gift shop. What I enjoyed was sitting and viewing the family tree of the Kennedy family starting with Joe and Rose. There's a nice statue outside and some small bronze statues inside. One that caught my eye was one of JFK with a grown JFK Jr. (remember, Jr was just a small boy in 1963), walking on sand, arm in arm, with the caption (What Might Have Been). The downside is that the public bathrooms are outside, behind the museum and just a small bit of a walk back.

Must see and revisit

By Lester A |

This is wonderful tribute to John F. Kennedy and his family. We visited it a number of years ago, but we went back, and are very glad. They do change and expand the exhibits. the current (Sept 2019) includes an exhibit on John Kennedy Jr. There is also a wonderful exhibit of photographs, with an explanation on how they were restored since the original negatives were kept for "safekeeping": in a safe deposit box in the World Trade Center, and were all lost on 9/11.

Nice Stop

By Y Not? |

Looking for more info on JFK and family this is a nice stop. Museum covered the "family story " with history of both JFK and Jacqueline and their children. A special section dedicated to Jack Jr.and his life is also present. Very compact and informative museum.

Nice but could do so much more

By startwiththeendinmin |

It’s all photos and a couple of short videos. One hour max. Missed opportunity to educate future generations. Only those over 60 can really recall the family. It’s great history but needs to be improved so that future generations will visit and understand his legacy.

Lots of History

By vickies433 |

My visit to the JFK Museum was very informative. The photo exhibits were amazing. I was born in 1969 and not familiar with the Kennedy's. My visit has peaked my interest to learn more about the Kennedy's.

Great museum

By Majella Turner |

Had wonderful pictures of the Kennedy family that I have not seen before and a great tribute to j f Kennedy junior

Lots of history!

By Joanne S |

Small venue for all that travel to see the pictures and read the history of the Kennedy's. They even ran out of stickers as proof of payment for entry. Very interesting busy have seen much of the information in television documentary form or books.

Very thorough account of family history

By Vallette5 |

I went to the museum with my husband and two kids (age 13 and 8). The 8 year old was a little restless. There were many never before seen photos and very detailed descriptions of the Kennedy family. The pricing was $13 for adults and $7 for kids which I think is a fair price. The museum is somewhat small but still informative.

Memories

By RandR1948 |

Worth a visit. The best $10 I have ever spent. Great pictures and a couple of videos Don't miss the RFK room on the side.

Now As Expected

By Keith P |

Mostly a photo museum with few artifacts. The photo presentation was really good, but we expected more exhibits.

If you're a fan of JFK...

By Tarah & Keith |

You will be glad you went to this museum. It's not large but you learn quite a lot about the family that you may not have known. We enjoyed walking through and looking at images.. They do not offer a military discount. Check groupon though as they do have those every now and then.

Interesting

By Houli2 |

The museum was full of photos of the Kennedy clan. Mi learnt quite a lot about them. Surprised there weren't any artefacts.

Must See Attraction in Cape Cod

By Adam T |

This was a quaint yet entertaining exhibit portraying JFK in general, with an emphasis on him and his family’s influence in Hyannis. Very clean and well organized. Gift shop was unique and reasonably priced. We were traveling from Chatham, and Main Street can be a bear to get through. Good public parking provided. I would highly recommend visiting if you are visiting the Cape Cod area.

My 2nd Visit

By Loouis S |

The only and only Democratic I liked. Excellent museum, moving, thought provoking, impressive, inspiring.

Interesting visit

By Keep Life Simple Allan |

We were there on a Monday and it was not crowded. We enjoyed all the photos and items on display. My wife particularly enjoyed the family tree. Over all the museum was interesting and we had a nice visit.

Very enjoyable

By Peggy A |

I recently visited this museum on a diamond tour. Even though it is small, it was a very interesting and a nice collection. I would recommend this to anyone visiting this area. They had some wonderful exhibits and photos.

Nice little museum!

By Steven F |

If you are a fan of JFK and the Kennedy Family, this is a must-see while in Hyannis. We were lucky enough to see JFK's oval office rocking chair on exhibit this summer. The musseum mainly displays a collection of photos and information, and has a nice souvenier shop. It is in a great central location and is easily accessed. Staff are very friendly. Worthwhile.

Small but interesting

By GregN |

This museum tells the background to the Kennedy family through photos, some familiar, many personal and private, that help shed a different light of this family as,well, a family. Small but worthwhile. And hour to 90 minutes is sufficient. A great way to spend an afternoon.

JFK Museum in Hyannis, Ma

By CHERYL E |

Dont waste Your money,,,,,,This was such a disappointment,,,,,We paid to walk around in an Over crowded....OLD building , our friend needed to use the bathroom, it was "Outdoors, you walk down a street to another Building...They were OLD and not that clean".....ALL that was there were , Mounted pictures with readings on the side....NO head sets, No guide to walk threw....a real waste of Money....These were all the same pictures I saw as a child in the magazines,,,,,I grew up in the 50s & 60s...and these were everywhere......Very disappointed.!!!!

Visit to Kennedy Museum in Hyannis

By Gary D |

This is a lovely hour or so walk down memory lane, especially for those that lived through the Kennedy years. The museum has a great collection of photos and memorabilia of those times with good written (English) placards describing the respective display. Definitely worth the visit.

Interesting place to visit if in Hyannis

By Cwpappa |

I enjoyed the museum which displayed historical and family photos of John F. Kennedy. I did think the entry cost was a bit high considering the size of the museum and the fact that much of the information is readily available on the Internet. I would recommend the museum, though, for those people visiting the Hyannis area who are interested in JFK history.

Inspiring

By NMHeat |

In this day of greed and politics over country, this was truly inspiring. It gave me hope that someday Americans will come together as a people and do what is right for all the people not just the people who believe the way they do. JFK even with all his flaws could have been a truly great leader.

Museum visit

By Kerney1943 |

Visit the JFK Museum in Hyannis last week. Very well put together museum with lots of pictures that have detailed descriptions. A couple of very informative short movies. Also visited the JFK Memorial which set right on the beach in a beautiful location!! While in Hyannis we also visited downtown and although it was a Sunday afternoon ( All the shops were closed) we thought it was really quaint.

Small, but very nice, perspective of the former President

By Arkansas_Family |

A small museum but with wonderful pictures and information on JFK and a room focused on RFK as well. Presented beautifully, also a video narrated by Walter Cronkite. Really only an hour or so to see it all but still a wonderful opportunity to see the history and the life of a former President.

Very Nice Tribute to a Great PResident

By garyww |

This museum was a very nice tribute to President Kennedy and his family. It does a nice job of tying him and his family to the local area. The exhibit are professional and well done. If you're into history at all, you can easily spend an hour or more going through the exhibits.

Great Experience!

By Foodie788 |

My husband and I visited the museum while in Hyannis for the day. It was certainly a great experience, with both of us taking away new knowledge about the well known family. I was surprised at how big the museum is and the entry fee was very reasonable (only $12 per person). We had a great experience and would certainly recommend this to museum.

Worth an hour of your day

By par64London |

We stopped in Hyannis specifically to soak up the Kennedy atmosphere.
Small, well-presented museum that offers a glimpse of the more informal side of Kennedy life centered on their summers spent in Hyannis.
Some lovely photographs and interesting context including a brief video.
For teenagers, be sure to bring Student ID to benefit from reduced entrance fee.
Take a few minutes to walk the Kennedy Trail while you’re in town to see other key locations with a Kennedy connection.

Learned a Great Deal but Came Away a Bit Depressed

By Hollywood |

We had visited Hyannis 2-1/2 years ago but the JFK Museum was closed. We planned our return to The Cape so as to assure our visit to the museum this time.

Although I was rather underwhelmed, I learned a lot. I found myself - as a life-long Republican - feeling embarrassed that I did not appreciate him and his vision for our country and it saddened me that his life and Camelot were cut so short. He accomplished a great deal but my takeaway was ... it's good to grow up with MONEY!

Plan on spending a couple of hours because a great deal of minutia is contained in this rather small venue.

Very thorough exhibits

By Maltipoo16 |

The museum is probably about 90% photo exhibits and 10% physical exhibits, which I was not expecting. The photos were magnificent though and very well put together. In addition, each section had a write up about that and one in JFK’s life and the significance of that photograph. There were also thoughtful captions on each photo. I very much enjoyed the museum and learned a lot about JFK that I hadn’t known before visiting. I would say though that it’s definitely not a museum for kids. There would not be much of interest there for them and the history probably wouldn’t keep their attention, unless they are history buffs.

Nice place to visit

By KDG2098 |

Nice place to visit, as well as educational. People there are warm, friendly and knowledgeable. It is small and one can generally complete the self-tour in 90 minutes. Worth stopping in.

Glamorous Treatment of JFK and Jackie

By mathchef |

A lovely pictorial history of the life of JFK and Jackie. There is also a room dedicated to John, Jr, but surprisingly little information about Carolyn.

A small, quaint museum with so much information!

By sjmclean2017 |

I highly recommend the museum. I learned so many things I've never read or heard about. Plenty of benches and chairs to sit down if you so desire. They raised their rates from $10 to $12 and haven't removed or notified the hotels or restaurants in the area to remove or change their informational fliers so that was a bit odd since many in line (mostly senior citizens) asked them to honor what the advertised rate was but they refused then additionally asked for a donation!

Must see Museum while in Hyannis

By JulesBrie |

This is a gem right in the heart of Hyannis. Very informative and well detail little museum. Very historical and this museum should not be missed. Lovely grounds right on Main Street Hyannis.

Very interesting if you like history or the Kennedys

By flo220 |

Interesting museum about the life of JFK. While we were there they had a great exhibit of photographs of JFK. It takes around an hour or so to go through it -- worth it.

Small Museum Packs Powerful Punch

By Steve |

We had no idea what to expect when we entered what appeared to be a rather small museum. Don’t let the outside size fool you. This was an excellent display of pictures and memorabilia. One of the best museums I’ve seen. Absolutely a terrific experience.

One hour tops at this small museum

By JKL V |

We started our JFK legacy trail at the museum. It takes no more than one hour to finish viewing the exhibits at this small museum. Our next stop is the JFK Presidential Library in Boston, MA

Visit on a rainy day

By val g |

Small and quick. Nothing spectacular, but worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. Not for kids. Lots of pictures and reading.

Fabulous museum. Great pictures of JFK as a family man!

By Bruce B |

We purchased our tickets very easily online which made for very easy entrance period
The museum was well laid out and extremely informational. We thoroughly enjoyed the short video about his visit to Ireland. It was a great opportunity to see a President of the United States as a family man and in his element.

informative

By Donna E |

A great museum. Lots of photos and information about the Kennedy family. A great timeline of events in the family.

I thought it was overpriced however my wife liked it

By L B |

It is basically a set of organized photographs, and a video or two.

It was nicely done however I do not think it was worth the money.

A 'Must Do' In Hyannis

By Adrian D |

Wonderful museum, centrally located on Main St. in Hyannis. Features various collections of photography highlighting the lives of former President JFK and his brother, former Attorney General RFK (this collection is a wonderful new addition to the museum). Given the Kennedy family's deep roots in Hyannis (family compound is located down the road in Hyannis Port), this museum is a great way to learn about both the Kennedy family and where they came from. A visit here is like a visit through a fascinating period in American history. I would highly recommend this to folks visiting the Cape.

A tribute to JFK

By toots1965 |

A tribute to JFK as we visited his world as a son, brother, husband, father, and leader of our country. We walked down memory lane in a warm environment.
remember that there is parking in the back of the museum.

A tribute to JFK

By Fossils86 |

This museum has kept the pictures of the Kennedy family beautiful displayed. A look into their legacy and life. Their handwritten letters on display and what they were feeling when the pictures were taken has been carefully captured. I loved it so much. I went with my husband and our 8 years old daughter. Taking pictures are strictly prohibited. The museum is conveniently located on Main Street. Definitely worth the visit.

Amazing. So much fun.

By Penny C |

Took my husband here for Father's Day yesterday and he loved it so much. He's a huge JFK fan and he enjoyed the museum very much. The statue out front is beautiful and the movie inside was great. Gorgeous photos we've never seen before.

Great visit!

By Homecroft56 |

As a child that grew up in th 60's - this was a great stop on our vacation. Lots of photos of JFK at his summer home in Hyannisport plus a special room dedicated to RFK. Many videos. One about JFK and sailing off the coast narrated by Walter Cronkite was really special - great to hear his voice again.

Special Place!

This is just a small museum, but the location makes it very special. It's so close to where JFK spent some of the happiest moments of his life!!! We were very pleased to find out that the museum had added the exhibits "Robert F. Kennedy: Ripple of Hope" and "Creating Camelot" to their own collections. The pictures brought back so many memories. We also found a nice gift store, but amazingly enough no public bathrooms. They were located a short walk away in a separate building behind the museum which I found quite inconvenient. Otherwise I thought it was a worthwhile visit.

Nice Museum honoring JFK's Legacy

By 307leven |

Museum visit costs $13/adult and $11/seniors. Museum displayed various events documenting JFK's life up to and including his death. We viewed various photos, documents and statements illustrating JFK's life through the years. The museum was small, so it didn't take too many people to make it crowded during our visit. We parked on the street, but there was parking behind the museum. Overall, our visit lasted about an hour.

Loved it

By Billy F |

My wife and I loved this place very pleased can’t wait to go again when we are back on cape in the summer!

Expensive but nice

By M R |

It is a little pricey and you can’t take pics. Wish I had known that it was mostly pictures. They do have some pics that are unique. It is a nice tribute to a fallen president. If you could take pics it would be much better. The gift shop could also have more stuff on RFK as well.

Mostly photos

By auntieh22 |

This could be so much more interesting if it covered the whole of JFK’s life. Coming from the UK we were hoping to see something about his early life, some of which was spent in England when Joe Kennedy was US ambassador to the UK. In fact the family lived in the grand house where I later went to college. Would have been interesting to see photos of that period. Instead it jumped from birth to college days. The displays are very muddled and not in any discernible chronological order. There is very little in the way of memorabilia, mostly photos many of which you could probably find on the internet. Disappointing.

First visit

By Bev M |

I was pleasantly surprised at how much the family enjoyed the visit to the JFK Museum. We learned some new facts and enjoyed the personal pictures in the Museum.

Not really a museum

By carol b |

This is more of a photographic exhibition rather than a museum but was quite good. It is small and because of this got quite crowed at times.

Love the photos

By Ma H |

Family photos rarely if ever seen. Very good exhibit. Small museum but packed with personal photos of the Kennedys

What could have been?

By Richard M |

A very nice tribute to a man taken from us far too soon. Can't help but wonder in these times where we might be today if JFK (and RFK) had survived. This is a lovely collection of great photographs and documents that tell an albeit whitewashed version of his life. Not a bad way to kill an hour or two on a rainy day in Hyannis. They do have changing exhibits at times. The "Creating Camelot" and "JFK at 100" exhibits were particularly meaningful.

Last day

By Janet D |

We had about a half day so we decided on the JFK museum knowing it would take about an hour. Nice tribute to JFK and his family.

Great Family Pictures and history

By Paul White |

I have been to Deleaney in Dallas and the library in Boston. This captures JFK family time here and how Caroline gave him joy. There are also all the great quotes of his presidency and value of family. Definitely something to make us reflect in today’s world.

A must for Kennedy fans

By DrTedLondon |

Great museum for his time at Hyannis. The Kennedy's family home. Lots of pictures and information. Also we were lucky to attend a talk by a local volunteer who spoke with great knowledge on the Kennedy family and their time in Hyannis.
Well worth the visit.

A gem of a museum- time well spent

By maryanne k |

I was a child when JFK was President and have childhood memories of him. As an adult, I loved walking through this museum and reliving the Kennedy era. Importantly, the museum is not just geared to those of us who were alive in the 60's. The exhibits are thoughtful and thought provoking. I especially liked the time line that tracks JFK from announcing his bid for the Presidency to the sad day he was buried. The museum is conveniently located on Main Street and a visit can easily fit into a day out in Hyannis.

Great way to spend a few hours on a rainy day

By Aaron |

Small, but very well-done museum. It's a great way to spend a few hours while in Hyannis. If you're a fan of the Kennedy's, US History, or just looking for something a bit different, it's a ton of fun.

Cool stop

By TNHarleyChick |

We stumbled upon this museum by total accident as we were exploring the town. Great opportunity for pics with a statue of JFK. There's free parking if you can find a parallel spot on the street.

For me not a very good value for money

By Patricia032 |

Too much pictures about the Kennedy family, the family tree, and pictures of his wedding to Jackie and bits of his speeches and letters. Not for me

Interesting and Educational

By steve_fossil |

As overseas visitors we weren’t aware of the extent of the Kennedy clan on US politics, so the exhibits were of great interest. Allow at least one hour to read all of the information and view the photo exhibition to get full value.

Outstanding

By Graeme R |

Brilliant photo exhibition of never before seen pics of JFK and family
From behind the scenes right from his early days on the campaign trail for the Senate and then his run for the White House. Really fascinating and worth a visit. They also have a side exhibit for Bobby. Spent a good hour or so in there and then walked down to see the Kennedy family compound on the coast.

A Look Back at a Great Man!

By Ginger M |

This is a wonderful tribute to JFK and we have visited it more than once~~it is a walk back in time and a great history lesson in to JFK's life and family!

Must see when in Hyannis

By Tex H |

A really interesting display and great information about the Kennedy's. The photos and layout made it easy to follow and you could take your time reading everything.

Short review

By Mikiej09 |

Was a very nice display of pictures and other articles from jfk and his family. Had a short video of history during his presidency.

Very disapointed

By janetStokeOnTrent |

We went on a very rainy day and I was so disappointed with this museum. It is mostly photographs and currently has a special collection called creating camelot. Without this there really wouldn't be much to see. Don't get me wrong the photographs are excellent I just presumed there would be more personal memorabilia. There are a few letters and items from campaigns and newspapers and also a video to watch.
Sorry I really wished I could have been more positive.

A must visit to Hyannis

By steve f |

We went to see the family's life at the Cape. The pictures and information were well done and very educational. We have been to the museum in Boston and this was representitive of the Cape and Hyannis, quaint.

Not a whole lot

By Rbb599 |

The museum has a tribute to the Kennedy family and some historical information. Many of the pictures are cool to look at. Overall I though the museum was overpriced for its scope and size. If one is intrigued by the Kennedy family they might find the museum interesting.

Nice view into the life of JFK

By Lynn F |

The JFK Library and Museum in Boston was certainly better, but this was a nice glimpse into another part of the Kennedys' lives. Great photos and descriptions but an odd layout with respect to the flow. We were given very strict instructions on "how" to go through the exhibits, but they didn't make a lot of sense. Worth a trip but not the top of the list in New England.

Kennedy Clan History on the Cape

By ogerkan |

The JFK museum is long on photos and stories of the Kennedy clan on the Cape but short on artifacts. We organized, it felt like walking through a picture book which was fine. Enjoyed the breath of family tree in the last hall.

A Museum To See

By Gerald C |

The museum was excellent from start to finish. The displays and videos were great. What a way to remember the past and President John F Kennedy and his family. Definitely a place to see.

A great place to visit

By Simon B |

Visited this place while on holiday from Scotland, mainly due to a West Wing engendered interest in US politics. I expected it to be interesting, I did not expect it to be so moving. Well worth a visit to see a time when optimism was the defining factor in US politics.

Worth a visit

By Lynda D |

Glad we found time in busy itinerary to visit museum. Spent an hour there and my husband would have liked longer. Some beautiful photographs (mainly, if not all, black and white) of the photogenic but tragic Kennedy family. There is one small area dedicated to the life of Robert Kennedy, but most of the museum is dedicated to JFK and his immediate family. Well put together museum, with text accompanying each photograph and some short films to view as well. A large family tree is displayed on one of the walls - I didn't realise that one of JFK's sons died when only a tiny baby and another son died in adulthood (I think this may have been as a result of a plane crash, but it did it say). The museum concentrated on JFK's early personal and political life and upon his wife and family. There was nothing concerning any possible extra-marital affairs! Really enjoyed looking around this museum - although it left me feeling sad at how his short life ended - could recommend. It was a very poignant experience.

Very interesting with lots to see

By CaptainDavidBurton |

This is a lovely small museum with so many great photos on display of JFK, his life and his family. There are lots of articles to read, and many photos I hadn’t seen before (and I’m a JFK fan). There are video sequences to watch, a short film and articles such as magazines and presidential campaign memorabilia. It’ll take a couple of hours to get around if you want to see and read it all. There is also a gift shop. Adult entrance fee was $13.

JFK was interesting

By Jim R |

quick side trip, It had some great info, its a small building you see a movie and lots of artifacts and pictures.

the story behind the dynasty

By John M |

This museum is very well laid out and very informative .There was a lot of political memorabilia from his run for office.

Nice Tribute

By Pineapplepalm |

I’m a history geek, so I’d never miss an opportunity like this… Especially if it’s a few steps from my hotel! It’s largely a photo collection; there are a few artifacts as well. The photos tell the very sweet and sad story of JFK, his family and his legacy.

Pictures brought back memories

By tutter2 |

I was very young, but remember Kennedy presidency and assassination. The many photographs brought back many memories, and the early Kennedy family photos were very enjoyable also. Wish we had allowed enough time to watch the entire Bobby Kennedy video. If the Kennedy family legacy, campaigns, and Presidency were in your lifetime, you are likely to appreciate and enjoy this museum much more than younger visitors. Don't expect displays of relics or memorabilia - this is not that kind of museum. But enjoy the photographs!

Don’t Go!

By Stephanie J |

Not worth the energy to write a review. Don’t waste your time. You can go on the internet and see more info than they provided

Hundreds of pictures of the Kennedys throughout the years.

By R. Savino |

Enjoyed spending time here. Separate room for Bobby Kennedy. Hundreds of pictures covering JFk's life as well as the Kennedy clan. Suprisingly small property but plenty of history to see.

History Unfolded

By busybee2012 |

Walk through at your own pace to see Camelot unfold before you! Beautiful photos of the First Family and the Kennedy Crew. Very informative!

Excellent small museum

By E C |

This is really an excellent museum detailing the life of President Kennedy. Much can be learned here and it’s quite touching. It should be seen by all.

Well designed

By Victoria C |

You really have to like the Kennedys to really enjoy this place. No matter you thoughts, they make him out to be the savior.

But lots of photos, well laid out sections but if you didn't like him, don't waste your time.

Lovely tribute...

By MomtoSam166 |

Traveled to Hyannis in September of this year to see specifically this museum. It is a wonderful tribute to President Kennedy. It is part of the Kennedy Legacy Trail and definitely a must see. Wonderful photo displays and history. A special place...

I highly recommend the museum

By s3production |

Discovered the museum beacuse it was next door to post office
not real big but worth the hour to explore it

JFK Museum Hyannis

By PSK |

Sadly the tiny building contains a few photos of the Kennedy family and model boats the clan used. Not worthy of an assassinated favorite son and president. With a little effort I think the sitecadk and receive bit more from the family. The largest part of the ‘museum’ is the gift shop, with typical memorabilia. The best part of the museum is the barefoot statue of JFK in a casual suit with his hand placed in his pocket at the entrance. The real museum to see and experience is the Dorchester/UMass exhibit on the point. It will make you tear up. . .

Awesome museum

By copper2056 |

Awesome museum. The history of JFK and his family was great. Lots of family photos and history was very informative. Great display. A video/DVD film was also very informative. Also the beautiful photos of Jackie were incredible. Lots of parking. Right on main st. Plenty of restaurants and shopping in area. Reasonable prices do r entry to museum. Great staff. Highly recommended.

Go to Boston

By kingbyriverk |

Considering the Kennedy legacy in Hyannis, I expected more... much more. I have no problem with it being small but I do have a problem paying for tickets to look at walls full of photos I could easily view online. Seriously, there isn’t much else. And in my opinion, there isn’t much reason to visit this place either. No photography allowed, but I did manage to sneak a pic of the presidential socks available at the gift store.
Groan...

Must see

By firestationstrip |

The people who run this should be very proud of what they done. The staff were helpful to any questions we had but also knew the background instead of rehearsed answers. Been many years since I was last here and it’s got better each time.

Worth a visit definitely, free parking at the back.

By Helen B |

We really enjoyed the self guided tour. It was centred not only on JFK but the whole Kennedy family and their time at Hyannisport which made it very interesting. Content is videos and photographs. There was a section devoted to Robert Kennedy and another to Jackie. Worth a visit.

Nice Museum with lots of memories

By Genesis4ever |

In a two hours visit, we went back in time. We had the opportunity to remember JFK, his childhood and we learnt several important things about his life and his legacy. I recommend this visit

Not to be missed!!!

By Nancy C |

I brought a group of undergraduate teacher candidates from NYC. We were warmly received by the entire staff and the students were fully engaged with the exhibits and experience. This museum has carefully curated artifacts that remind us of the enduring impact of the entire Kennedy family. Their forward thinking is taken for granted—like establishing the National Seashore and the Special Olympics. For students who only knew them from textbooks this museum brought the Kennedys’ civic engagement to life. As teachers, they will be able to invite their students to engage as well. An important Cape Cod experience not to be missed!! THANK YOU!!

Good Informative Museum

By AlexRo13 |

A good little museum if you want to learn about JFKs & the rest of the Kennedy family’s life outside of politics.
Quite a lot of information on why they have become synonymous with Cape Cod.
Would recommend to anyone specifically interested in JFK.

Very Informative Museum

By Nancy C |

We toured this museum and this was on the best things we did on our 2 week trip on the East Coast. I was a teenager when he was President and "in love with him and the ""Camelot"" years. The photos were wonderful to see. There was a film to also watch that was about the family time and what they did at the Kennedy Compound. It was a wonderful experience and would go there again.

More reverential than educational

By KDAA |

This was the first time here for both my wife and I and we came away unimpressed and disappointed. I felt like this was paying homage to the public persona of JFK and the family and their idyllic life in Hyannis. If you didn't have knowledge of the Kennedy family, you might easily leave this museum thinking they were a wonderful happy family who enjoyed summers on the Cape. There are darker stories to the Kennedy family, but we didn't see any of that here.

Additionally, the museum is small and doesn't have much in the way of artifacts. The displays are mostly pictures and videos. There is very little in the way of Kennedy memorabilia here (which makes you wonder why the family down the road can't find a few more items to donate to the collection). It makes the $14 admission price seem pretty high.

If you know nothing of JFK, then you will leave with more knowledge than you came with. If you were captivated by the Camelot mystique and JFK, then you will probably enjoy this. If you have a bit more than a passing knowledge, I'm not sure you will gain much additional here. If you understand the mixed history of the family, then you are likely to leave like us - feeling it was more a tribute than an educational experience.

A lot of money just for some photographs

By jhollminecrafter |

We paid 30 dollars + for our family of four and were excited to see some artifacts about this amazing family. Seriously. It’s just photos on poster board. There is so much they could do with this opportunity to capture the imagination of spectators and guests but this isn’t much of a museum or or memorial whatsoever. Don’t waste your vacation time and money.

Excellent experience

By Big Mike |

A wonderful small museum, which tells the story of the family, and lifestyle on the cape. They were a storybook love story cut short. Museum focuses on the good times of both John and Robert

A slice of history

By Kathleen S |

Very informative. A nice look in to the family life of JFK. Shows the “real person” side of him and Jackie

Worth the Visit

By Luv2Travel |

This was my second visit to the museum. I went with friends who had not been there before. I was surprised to learn that new exhibits are on display. I expected to see the same exhibits as I had seen two years prior. Can easily spend one to two hours looking at the exhibits. Regular admission price for adults is $13. They do not offer AAA discounts.

A small museum that captures the essence of Kennedy's inspiring life

By Jeremy C |

Although this is a small museum, there's lots to see, including inspiring photographs by Kennedy's family photographer Jacques Lowe, along with audio histories and films, and an introduction by Walter Cronkite. At the 100th anniversary of his birth, the museum highlights JFK's vision and statesmanship, as well as his family life, marriage to Jackie, and links to Cape Cod. 50 years after man walked on the moon, it was JFK who articulated the goal.

Greg & Kat’s John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum.

By Greg Harris |

The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum is a must see & visit attraction when traveling through Cape Cod, Massachusetts (MA).

In August of 2022, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a self guided tour of the museum during our vacation in Cape Cod.

The John F Kennedy Hyannis Museum showcases President Kennedy & his family’s deep attachment and presence in Cape Cod, MA and details his strong love and reverence for this beautiful coastal destination.

What my wife and I enjoyed about the museum were it’s prolific collection of images that featured John F. Kennedy spending time with his family in Cape Cod.

We also liked the amazing photos of Kennedy sailing the Victura, the gorgeous pictures of his spouse, Jacquelin Kennedy, viewing and reading about Kennedy’s rocking chair & the exhibit on the Kennedy compound.

Visiting the museum was a delightful experience and my wife and I definitely recommend for everyone to take the time to stop by and explore this wonderful attraction!!!

Unique Insight into the JFK clan

By PeterMWatts |

This museum may not be the biggest in the world but the detailed insight it gives of the Kennedy family from a Hyannis point of view is delightful. Seeing so much of JFK at work and at play through the lens of John Irvine was a real treat. Though his black and white photos he captures with real intimacy the political and family life of this special family. I was pleased that the museum does not work through the hackneyed intrigue of tragedies of the Kennedy family but concentrated on the whole lives of these extraordinary people. Maybe a little expensive but when considering the various multi-media experiences that it offers, it was a journey that we felt was very worthwhile.

Family visit

By julie G |

I’ve always enjoyed the Kennedy history and this museum was great . My 12 year old daughters really enjoyed the museum . Lots of private photos . Also a Robert Kennedy exhibition on which was really interesting. Definitely worth a visit

Very nice museum

We enjoyed the museum. It was very interesting even though I already knew a lot about the Kennedy's. There is free parking behind the building. It is well worth the time to explore.

Nice museum

We had a good experience. The JFK Hyannis Museum was very interesting and had many photos and posters of JFK. We spent a little over an hour and enjoyed the museum

Great museum with historic and interesting photos and artifacts of the Kennedy family

By Familyli4 |

Worth the visit. Located on Main Street. A little bit expensive but worth it.
Would be better if it had more artifacts of the Kennedy family.

Great history, great items but building needs updated display

By 263deb |

This was a rainy day event that took about an hour to go through. There are wonderful items on display but the building and the displays appear tired. The staff was helpful which helped with the boring display cases.

Nice

Nice arrangement of photos documenting his rise to presidency.
Plenty of family photos, and with Martin Luther King Jr.

Learn a Lot In a Short Time

By Patty R |

There is a lot of information here. Lots of photos and footage you've seen before, as well as some new information. They had some interactive activities for kids. It doesn't take long to go through which is a plus when visiting with kids.

Interesting and moving experience

By anna |

Lots of information, photos and videos of the Kennedy family. Very interesting and actually quite moving even though you know how the story ends 😢

Very interesting but overly crowded

By KPB_loves_to_travel |

We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits and photographs. They were revealing and informative. The only negative is that there was apparently a cruise group that came in at the same time with probably 100 people on an excursion to The exhibit. We can deal with crowds, but this group had very little consideration for others around them. One person had a cell phone which kept going off with a very loud ringtone, and several people would talk loudly on their cell phones. Indeed, the whole group seemed to be speaking in very loud voices including their tour guide who was shouting to her group at the entrance to the movie area. There were times when I could not hear the movie over her and her group’s voices. I think the museum should consider timed entry when people make reservations.

Excellent experience

By P Willie66 |

Excellent experience. I found it very interesting and personal, because I was a youth when he was assassinated. I remember seeing some of his televised speeches especially the one during the Cuban missile crisis. This exhibit covered that period of his life and more.

JFK Museum - Top pick for travelers to Hyannis

By Joe M |

Great photo and historical fact museum. Given its size, it exceeded my expectations. Some very moving exhibits. Well worth price of admission.

Very interesting

By mrt1955 |

We go to a number of museums and I'm a pretty much get in...se the famous stuff...get going bit this place was very interesting. It's not a huge place (actually only one floor of the building) but the content was first class and so well put together that I literally walked from picture to picture until I'd seen the entirety of all the three exhibits at the museum.

Plus...you can take a selfie with the JFK statue in front of the museum...a nice bonus!

Must Do When Visiting Hyannis

By Adrian D |

Wonderful museum, centrally-located on Main Street. Ideal for folks of all ages. Fascinating subject matter that celebrates an iconic President and a unique time in American history. A cont miss destination when visiting Hyannis.

Very interesting exhibit

By BrianS612 |

Wife and I with other friend toured today. Very interesting visit - especially when one was old enough to remember some of the events. The ‘Creating Camelot’ exhibit was was great. So fortunate to be able to recreate photos lost during 9-11. Other exhibits and videos were informative. Recommend visiting this museum.

Really enjoyed my return visit after 22 years

By GaryKilbride |

I saw this museum during summer 1996 while joining my parents on a Cape Cod trip. I remember the date specifically because we watched the Atlanta Olympics at our time share exchange in Hyannis, and partially on the MSNBC network, which was brand new and devoted to the Olympics during those two weeks. We had no idea how significant MSNBC would become.

This is primarily a picture museum. Classy pictures on every wall. Captions below. Quiet vibe. Small footprint. There is one impressive video of roughly 10 minutes. Visitors should understand that dynamic. The museum represents the Hyannis connection and is not nearly as large and comprehensive as the JFK Museum on the waterfront in South Boston.

It is a JFK museum but I appreciated the room currently devoted to RFK's life and career, including the ill fated pursuit of the 1968 Democratic nomination.

The staff at this museum is excellent. I remembered that from 1996 and it held true again, smack from the front counter. I really enjoyed speaking to Kathy at length in the museum itself. She pointed out some photographs I had overlooked, and I rambled about my theories on political math. Those theories are different so they invariably attract interest. I probably took up too much of Kathy's time in her role but when divided among 22 years it works out to maybe one minute per year. Not too bad, and I'm safe from retribution 1500 miles away in Miami.

Another employee in the gift shop was a big help in directing me to the nearby JFK Memorial, and also to Kalmus Beach toward a peek across the water at the Kennedy compound. I made only one wrong turn, which was far superior to my norm in that type of endeavor.

This museum is included in the Go Boston Card, which also includes the JFK Museum and new Edward Kennedy Senatorial Museum, adjacent to each other in South Boston.

All the Kennedy venues feature free marking, which is a minor miracle in the Boston area.

Beautiful photos

By 50statetraveler |

Lovely journey through JFK’s highlights with photos. Very nice video narrated by Walter Cronkite. Small but worth the price and time.

Great lesson on the Kennedy Family

By KatDan |

There is so much information on JFK and his family. If you don't know a lot about the Kennedy's, I would recommend a visit. Being from New England and knowing a lot about the Kennedy's, I didn't learn anything that new, but it was interesting to see some of the artifacts and pictures.

A gem!

By sap2work@yahoo.com |

If you are in Hyannis, and love the Kennedy history, this little museum is worth a stop. It is small, but has a good collection of photographs, videos, and things to read. It is well worth the $10 admission, and I am sure they will use the fee to keep improving it. Worth a stop.

Great trip back in history

By Cape Cod |

You will like the history lesson. I have enjoyed the rotating exhibition each year. It is in the downtown area with plenty of other things to do.

A trip down the memory lane

By csserious2 |

I was a small kid when the world grappled with the tragedy at Dallas; I was thousands of miles away in another part of the world but it surely shook the earth everywhere. President Kennedy lives through his inspiring words and the small museum, mostly built on photographic collections, is a perfect place for adults and children alike to get inspired again. Parking and rest rooms are at the back amid the city government buildings. It is definitely worth a visit when in Cape Cod if you are mesmerized by the timeless leadership of Jack Kennedy like millions of people.

Small but informative

By Caroline N |

We booked extremely easily online. There is a car park behind the museum but be careful as the turning is right at the end of the museum and is a little hidden. We were early for our slot but there was no problem in getting in early. It is a small museum mainly based on his family life and time at Hyannis. There are many photographs and a few films. It was very informative

Interesting

By haloftermtravel |

Small museum but fascinating none the less. Enjoyed walking round seeing the Kennedy life in Hyannis and their love of Cape Cod.

Wonderful and so emotional

By Sharon F |

I visited CC with my kids but took a few hours out with Hubbie to see this exhibit. It was small so very doable on a family holiday. And it was superb. A really very thoughtful and well curated exhibition of photographs from the photographer to the Kennedy’s (Jacques Lowe - I’d not heard if him but recognised a lot of the photos). I ended up in tears at the end - what an amazing family and legacy. He was so loved by so many - including my parents in Ireland. Well done to all who achieved this exhibition. To be recommended.

Good history lesson.

By Tom V |

Visited the JFK museum while seeing the Hyannis area. Very beautiful, very informative. There is a cost to get in.

kennedy timeline

By deirdre m |

Myself and my 11 year old daughter visited the Kennedy Hyannis Museum while we were on vacation in the area. It was so worth the trip! The photographs, not published anywhere else, memorabilia and information on the Kennedy Campaign for Presidency were brilliant. The layout of the photographs made it very easy to follow the timeline of events. The staff were helpful and chatty. I would revisit the museum next time I am in the area.

A must if you are a Kennedy admirer/fan

By EPtravels1 |

This quaint little museum offered some amazing photos of JFK and family. Very well situated in family's summer home of Hyannis. I've wanted to visit Hyannis and the museum for quite a while. Was surprised however, that the museum was made up of mainly photographs (albeit I think a lot of work went into restoring photos that are now 50+ years old and they certainly do not disappoint). But then I suppose, some of the artifacts I was expecting to find in a museum may probably be in the presidential library in Boston. Still, was a great visit and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Very small

By Explore09876 |

Nice. Nothing great. Lots of photos. No memorabilia. All I can say is it was ok. I so expected a bit more

Relatively Expensive, but Relatively Informative

By L847HSjonathanh |

The JFK Museum in Hyannis doesn't really present any information that is not also presented at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum up in Boston. You pay the same price for a smaller exhibit. But there is something you get here that you do not get in Boston -- the Jacques Lowe photographs of the Kennedy family over the years. These photographs capture the many facets of the family -- joy and sadness, triumph and tragedy. The photographer took one stunning portrait of Jacqueline Kennedy that showed her as incredibly freckled! It's a good place to visit. No photos allowed inside the museum.

Top notch

By B-radLV |

This museum chronicles some of JFK’s political life, but especially as it relates to his family’s connection to the Cape and more specifically Hyannis Port. Lots of good information.

Enjoyable visit

By l m |

We enjoyed our visit around the museum but felt it was a bit expensive for the entry given the extent of it. We managed to buy a groupon discount ahead of that before going which saved a bit

The walk round took about 45 mins so don’t plan your day around it. Worth a drop in when you are in Hyannis

JFK

By Pat R |

It was very interesting to see all about JFK. Not a real history person but this place I did learn al lot about him. A must see thing to do if ever in Cape Cod.

Mediocre Museum

By Fetla |

Don’t make this museum a priority on your visit to Hyannis. We made a visit to the museum and were disappointed to find out it was completely photographs, rather than JFK memrobilia, interactive exhibits, or really anything unique. We purchased our tickets for half price on Groupon, so the visit was not a complete waste. The JFK photographs were indeed beautiful, but I would not go out of my way to visit or recommend to others.

Nice little museum f

By Valerie16 |

Small museum in the cute downtown of Hyannis. The exhibit is mostly photos of JFK and all the Kennedys, with a few videos, plus a great timeline of JFK and the extended family tree. I'd seen many of these photos previously in an exhibit about Jacquie at the Newseum in DC a few years prior. Nice way to get out of the weather for an hour or so and learn a bit more about this important president and his esteemed political family.

Mostly photos

By Baby-whisperer211 |

Beautiful building that is well cared for, very clean and organized. The museum is set up in sort of maze that you stroll through with one side room to view a short video narrated by Walter Conkrite. The exhibits are 99% photos with descriptions mounted next to them, very few other artifacts or memorabilia. We spent about 30 min going through. You are not allowed to take photos inside the museum and this is strictly enforced.

it was so nice to visit a JFK anything that didn't dwell on the tragic assassination. This is a small museum but soooo many things to see about his life, that were not made public before or I had just missed through that time. Anyway, it was a good museum.

A wonderful JFK memorial.

For anyone who remembers Camelot and November, 1963 this is a must visit.
Sadly, it was a date our young president was assassinated and the country changed for the worse.
This museum gives an insight into the President at home with his family in Hyannis. It shows pictures of him just having fun sailing, swimming, playing football and golf.
It has newspapers with the headlines of the end.
It’s not for children who are too young to have at least read about JFK and don’t want to go to a museum.

Located downtown center of Main Street note there's lots of Free packing in the back of the building . We had a Groupon discount pass for 2 under $10 was well worth the visit. This museum is a short maybe one hour self gilded tour. Lots of some really great rare photos of the Kennedy family as well as some rare film footage . Must see for history and remember this great president . There lots of shops and restaurants all with in walking from this central located Museum. There is the presidential library a must visit in south shore of Boston if you have 1/2 day well worth it!
