The best place to learn about JFK

By CaptainDavidBurton |

This is an amazing place to find out more about the former US president and his life. What I loved about it the most was how it focussed on his life and achievements, and barely touched on the tragic events of the assassination. There is so much more to this man and his short term as US president that is fascinating, and it’s all here to see. This place gives a very positive account of all the ups, and also documents the downs of his presidency. There is a fantastic gift shop, and lots to read and see, including many video clips. Go see this - it’s in a beautiful building, and is in a class all by itself. You’ll need a few hours to get round it. Parking is free.

Very good museum.

By Bob B |

Excellent history of Kennedy. The museum was well laid out and elegant in decor. The history was well presented and it didn't belabor or overplay the politics like some of the other museums, like the Clinton museum, do. I wish it had not omitted the assassination and its fallout.

Great Location

By LinusBF2 |

A great place to visit for views and lunch. Basically a Kennedy advertisement with nothing related to assassination or affairs. Camelot with rose-colored glasses; pun intended.

Fab visit to JFK museum

By Deirdre O |

Well worth a visit here. Spent 3.5 hours visiting. Exhibition done really well. Cinema experience also very informative. You can get a free shuttle bus to the train station.

Very Interesting

By Joyce L |

Very well done review of JFK from early life to tragic death. Beautiful facility overlooking the ocean that JFK loved so much.

Legacy of an iconic president

By MKre84 |

Much more interesting than thought! A great and partly interactive exhibition, two cinema halls with entertaining screenings! Not to overload. The replica of the White House is great. Plus the fantastic location right on the water. Free shuttle bus to the Red Line station "JFK/UMass".

Love this library and I don't even like libraries!

By Tammy W |

This library is very well laid out and informative. It tells what JFK stood for and his beliefs that some I never realized before. Excellent photos and homemade family videos of the family. The museum goes into great detail about the programs (not welfare programs) that benefit all Americans to this day.

a most moving experience

By NEtraveler0000 |

At a special location, this museum reminds us of a unique time in American history. Take the family and tell them about the dream of Camelot.

Enjoyable and Educational; But not as good as other Presidential Libraries.

By Finrep001 |

My ninth presidential library. The building has an impressive architecture. The contents were educational and interesting; however, the experience and facilities are not as excellent in design and content as Nixon, Reagan, or George Washington or Lincoln Libraries. The dining facility was minimal. That said, to learn more on JFK this is the place. It had many personal family photos and film I had never seen.

We had two early teen children that appeared bored by the time we finished. At their age, I would have likely been the same.

Okay

By Susie N |

This was our 3rd Presidential library (Bush2 and Clinton) and this was our least favorite of the three. The documentary is well made, but the exhibits are sparse. Not as interactive as some. It was fine, if you are into history or presidents

Important History

By Kathy K |

If you are in the Boston area, we recommend this Presidential Library. The permanent exhibits give a great overview of JfK’s life, Presidency & Assassination. Another leader who began as a rather sickly child with a mediocre academic career who began exceeded many expectations. While they offer guided tours, you can easily read for yourself. We enjoyed our time there. Would recommend 1.5-2 hours to see it all.

a must do

By pjgrad |

This was an interesting way to spend a couple of hours. The video footage is especially meaningful. I liked the way they didn't dwell on the assassination (although it is important). The focus is on his actions and the outcomes.

Fantastic facility

By lbjiowa |

Allow yourself time to see this...they have excellent displays covering his childhood, his career(SO many hot topics during his career), his family life, and his death. Well done.

A wonderful trip through history

By BethM1313 |

This was a great way to spend an afternoon. Everyone in my group lived through the Kennedy era so there was much nostalgia. The library is a creation of I.M.Pei and is a beautiful building. The exhibits were well layed out along with some original film from the era. Little was said about the assassination. We all enjoyed the experience very much.

Only open a couple days a week

By LongIslandHungryGuy |

Check the hours before you huff down to the library from the T station. It was open Thursday-Saturday when I went by. Don't pass up the small museum at the state archives just across the parking lot- It has the original Charter for the state of Massachusetts!

Beautiful sitting on the bay

By MartyParty4 |

Took an Uber on a Sunday morning when the museum opened. It was not crowded. There are 2 movies to watch in the museum which are both really well done. It was interesting to read about JFK’s childhood and his thesis paper which turned into his booked called Profiles in Courage. We enjoyed the museum and spent over 2 hours here. You certainly could spend more time there.

Lots of great videos

By ekelleman88 |

There are displays to read and videos to watch chronicling the Kennedy presidency. Videos include the Kennedy-Nixon debate, TV election coverage from 1960, press conferences, personal Kennedy family home videos, Jackie Kennedys tour of the White House, and speeches made in Germany and Ireland. Great stop for anyone who lived during the 60s or anyone with an interest in history.

Learning about JFK

By Dave S |

Interesting tour focusing on JFK from WW2 up to the Presidency. While the tour can be self guided, we found that our guide gave us a lot more information.
It was very powerful for my mom who remembered the 1960 election and the assassination in 1963.
Logistically, this is one of the few attractions in Boston with plenty of parking.

Presidential Museums

By Victoria D |

Great opportunity to learn from history. Beautiful views. I’ve done every presidential library. Each one is unique and has so much to offer.

Outstanding collection of mementos and videos

By Kim R |

By far the most poignant of visits on our tour of Boston. This collection from Kennedy's presidency is simply outstanding. We were so glad we visited. Well laid out, very informative and I learned so much.

History Come Alive

By Kimberly M |

The JFK museum was an excellent choice during the veterans day weekend. The videos of President Kennedy harkened to another time in our political history. Architectually, it is an amazing building on the river. The riverview would be out of this world during the summer.

Awesome

By Ole Blue Eyes |

My 10 year old son and I visited here one morning and loved it. We found all parts of the museum quite interesting, so many items from the family collection. Nicely arranged museum, we spent 90 minutes here.

A look back in time

By Nate080411 |

This is a great stop for anyone who is visiting or living in the area. It will only take you about 1.5/2 hours, so it won't chew up an entire day. There is typically enough parking on site so you don't have to worry about that logistical pain or cost. The museum is pretty interactive and has a lot of videos for those who don't like to read everything. Being someone who was not alive during his presidency I found it to be very interesting and I didn't feel like I couldn't relate or understand the messaging that they were communicating. I would recommend packing a lunch and having a bite to eat outside next to the Library along the waterfront. It was a great choice before continuing with our activities in the city.

Educational and nostalgic

By lauraschaefferaz |

This museum is really nice and will make you nostalgic for simpler political times. Several short documentary style movies and exhibits are good. Most kids will be bored (suggest high school or older). Not easy to get to- about a $25 Uber from the city, but worth it

Inspiring and worth every minute

By Nick4u |

This was a last minute decision. We decided to stop in on our way home to CT. The museum is easy to find but not in the center of town. From the first movie to the very end I was brought back in time. Listening to President Kennedy made me wish for another statesman like him. When he spoke he was all inclusive. He had a remarkable way of asking the nation to help him succeed. The rooms in the museum were representative of the period and you saw many items that have long since past. It was a remarkable tour and when it was over you were deposited into a soaring open space that looked over the Boston Harbor and created an atmosphere of reflection. This inspired me as did the World War 2 monument in Washington DC.
I highly recommend the JFK museum and Library.

Great Tribute to a Great Leader!

By GoBluehose |

Great exhibits and a fantastic facility. Spent 2.5 hours there; could have easily spent 4+ hours, if we had the time. Highly recommended.

Beautiful building, informative exhibition

By Unorganised |

The building right on the waterfront has a stunning atrium and the exhibits that are there are well presented and informative. Unfortunately the content/ level of exhibits fall short of other Presidential libraries. A large amount of the 1.5-2 hours it takes to visit is watching videos

Well worth it

By anitarjay |

We found the museum and exhibits very interesting, especially the initial introductory film, which is family footage and narrated by JFK himself.

Historically we found it interesting too.

We caught the T and then the free shuttle bus, which drops you right outside the Library. However coming back was a little confusing as you catch the free shuttle bus on the same side as you get off. When the bus gets to the college campus you have to get off, as the buses all queue and you have to go to the head of the queue and find the number 1 bus which then takes you back to the T- phew.

Enjoy

A Lot to Take In

By Trey W |

The museum has a lot of information and can become overwhelming but its worth a stop. You learn about his early life, struggles and legacy he left behind. Full of recorded speeches, pictures and memorials.

Well done

By bonitabuffalo |

We were a little underwhelmed,. We expected more presidential artifacts and information. Unlike say the Churchill museum in London, where there was so much new to learn, here the Kennedy Museum seemed just nice - but so so. Perhaps because were lived during the Kennedy era

Quite a let down, doesn’t compare to others we have visited at all.

By Lovetotravelfamily4 |

We have been to 8 other presidential libraries and have enjoyed them all. This one really falls short and I would not suggest going out of your way to see it at all. Very few display, just a lot of short movies to see?
We were very surprised in the lack of information, however he did have a very short presidency.

Worthwhile museum in a striking building set right on the water

By Cindy M |

A very interesting and thorough museum about JFK, mostly his life and presidency and legacy. It does not focus on his assassination at all- there are other museums for that such as The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas. The striking building is designed by I M Pei and the setting is beautiful on the water with wonderful views of Boston Harbor and skyline. Worth a visit if you are at all interested in JFK

Library and archives visit

By Zsolt C |

A really great place to viist and get a deeper detailed and enjoyable insight into the work and life of JFK.

Presidential Museum

By Lee L |

Very Nice Museum. If not driving it is easy to get to by mass transit take the train to U-Mass and then catch the shuttle bus. It is also worthwhile if you have time to visit the Commonwealth Museum across the street.

It is a timed ticket mine was at 10 and I arrived early. Before you go in to watch the film which starts off the museum, they have some exhibits on the president's early life.

After you watch the film you go thru the exhibits which carry you thru the Presidential Campaign, his 3 years as President and his assassination. The last room reflects on his legacy. They have some short films and other exhibits with televised and recorded things that happened during his career.

The only negative I would say, though it is a Presidential Library, is that it has very little focus at all, outside the film, about his life before deciding to run for President. Worth a trip if in town.

Don’t Miss!

By Claire |

This was one of my favorite parts of Boston! You can easily spend all day in here reading, watching, and listening to everything. We had an 11 am ticket time and stayed until around 4:30 pm. The museum was clean, well laid out, easy to navigate, respectful, and above all it was the perfect tribute to JFK.

Very good

By David H |

Historically accurate. Well done. Seems a bit dated, could use a refresh. But interesting nonetheless. Not as big as I suspected, but then he didn’t even have a full term.

Must see

By Be48 |

This museum was very tastefully done. You could go at your own pace. Very interesting with many personal Kennedy items in museum.

Important and interesting history

By Darin B |

Great exhibits and so much history to be taken in. We spent 2-3 hours and could have spent more. Nothing at all on the assassination which was disappointing, but also understandable. The Library was about a 20-minute Uber ride from downtown, and would have taken public transportation if more time had been allowed.

Very worthwhile

By Steve J |

It was a nice overview of his life, both as President and his time leading up to it. Well done and worth a visit.

An informative visit!

By Stephan T |

This was my first “Presidential Library” visit and didn’t quite know what to expect. I quite enjoyed it - the documentary films provided helpful context, and it was neat learning more about this influential President. We unfortunately only had about 70 minutes to walk through, which wasn’t enough to fully absorb everything. Neat architecture as well by a famous Chinese-American architect.

An American Icon

By Americanflygirl |

I enjoyed learning about JFK's life, presidency and legacy. I learned more about PT-109 and his role in WWII as well as his health problems that could have easily kept him out of the war if he was not so driven. It struck me that he was a leader that took responsibility and admitted when he was wrong. The museum is very well kept and laid out. I spent about 2 hours here but you may need more.

Enjoyable Visit

By Richard M |

Our family had a real nice time during our visit. We learned a lot about JFK and his family. We enjoyed the videos and the artifacts.

A gem not to be missed

By judyg735 |

We spent 3 hours here and could easily have spent longer. Stunning setting and great use of video and audio clips to tell JFK’s story which seems super relevant to today’s world. The food at the cafe was also great (especially if you are vegetarian) and reasonably priced and the view from the windows back to Boston and over the bay just glorious. We visited on the anniversary of JFK’s birthday and charmingly all staff and visitors ate cake together beneath JFK’s inspirational words reproduced on the wall of the pavilion.

Gain Interesting Insider Information

By Jane A |

My husband, young adult daughter and I enjoyed touring this site. We would recommend allowing about 2 1/2 to 3 hours if you like to see and read all the material offered. The orientation video and the Cuban Missile Crises video were particularly impactful.

We were thoroughly engaged in the section covering the election. The debates from this time period were so much more civilized and both parties conducted themselves in a “ presidential” manner. This seems to be a lost art since Trump came on the scene! It was also fascinating to see how the southern states were democratic at that time- prior to the onset of race related white conservatism. It was interesting to see how the precinct counts were manually tracked back then.

Although the material touching on race relations was well done, we felt that there would have been the potential to present even more.

We visited the LBJ Presidential Library at the end of last year and felt it had even more material than the JFK. I would have liked to see even more in depth coverage of how Jackie had a tremendous impact on JFK’s campaign and success as a president. At the LBJ Library they had a large amount of information presented on Lady Bird and her contributions. This is a missed opportunity as far as we are concerned.

We enjoyed a good lunch in the cafe and were impressed with the stunning views of sailboats, etc. out of the windows. All staffers we encountered were very friendly and helpful

A Great Museum for a Great American

By Steve H |

It was very well done. I learned so much about JFK that I didn't know. I was just a child when he was killed and have vague memories of that time in history. The museum brought that era back to life. JFK genuinely loved America and that was refreshing to see, given the current political climate.

Don’t miss

By janie |

A moving portrait of a significant presidency cut way too short. Films, personal effects and more make for a compelling ext

Memories

By Al R |

As I have said in other Presidential Library reviews, the purpose of any of these is to present the subject in the best possible light. From that perspective, the JFK Library meets that goal. This is a well presented, well curated overview of JFK's 2 ½ years in office.

Arranged thematically, individual subjects are presented in alcoves off the main corridor which also has displays. Giving credit where it is due, there is less of a tendency to understate or ignore less noble outcomes than in some other Libraries (LBJ and Reagan come to mind). And, after living through November 22, 1963, we spent little time watching the presentations in that particular area.

Overall, well worth the time and effort to visit.

And, the Cafe isn't bad, just don't expect fine dining as some other reviewers seem too.

A must see in Boston

By Kevin M |

We spent 3 1/2 hours here. I have been to Reagan, Nixon and Truman Libraries. This by far is the best. Each exhibit is designed with detail and easy reading, films, as well as the most interesting information. There are tours available. We did not take a personal tour however we happen to be in the room where a tour was in progress, very iengaging info presented by the guide.

Ultimately Disappointing

By BertieJeeves |

The info available was good. However, it seems to be only a portion of what could be offered. As I toured, I thought of many aspects of JFK's life, political career, and presidency that should have been covered, but weren't. Highlights; a great deal of clips in JFK's voice, detailed explanation of the Cuban Missile Crisis. What was missing or presented only shallowly; more on young life and education, relationship with parents, military service, Congressional career, 1960 campaign, campaigning against LBJ for 1960 nomination, LBJ VP deal, Bay of Pigs, interest in the space race, medical challenges, dalliances, assassination and state funeral. Felt a bit white-washed. Would also have been interesting to see what happened to his family. Wanted so much more.

The museum is way out at Columbia Point. Beautiful views, but the end of nowhere, past UMass Boston. If you aren't driving, it's a schlep. Went once, but unlike other presidential museums I've visited, would not go again.

Grab a map with the layout...you'll need it !

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

My third Presidential library visit. The part about his early life is interesting and the Cuban Missile Crisis film is exceptional. The rest...just o.k. There is little signage so you'll need the map to figure out where you are. Nice location on the water. Go to the LBJi library in Austin if you want to see one done right.

An impressive and moving tribute to an incredible man

By FdeHeer |

This was always on our list of must sees and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a short Uber ride. The building itself is impressive and even in December you can appreciate the location. It dominates without overpowering...... very apt.
There’s a great feeling of space inside. See the short film first for context, then the exhibits are laid out in an underground ( I think) space which evokes the White House. At the end you come out into another really empty and lofty space. Very clever. The exhibits are as you’d expect, fantastic photos, letters, drawings, newspapers and tv/films. Also loved seeing Jackie Kennedy’s clothes as hers was such an important role in the administration.
Thoroughly worth a visit. Very fitting and moving. Our 20 something children really enjoyed it too

Captures the spirit of the Kennedy era

By Michele R |

There IS a FREE bus from JFK/UMASS Columbia to this site. The JFK Library is very well done. It captures a feeling for the Kennedy era and helps you to experience it. We spent 3.5 hours there and could easily have spent longer. We also would have enjoyed the next door Edward Kennedy Senatorial Institute and the Commonwealth Museum (FREE) across the street. It includes national history & artifacts as well as Mass. History. Unfortunately we didn't have the time on this visit.

Time for upgrades

By Swim Girl |

This museum offers a rudimentary look at a presidency. It was sparse on artifacts and lacking depth compared to the many other libraries and historical sites that we have visited here in the States and overseas. It is not comparable to the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum, which is a breathtaking repository that leaves a visitor with a sense of awe. The seating in the JFK theater area where we sat was torn, ragged and beat up. The 1970s era seating seemed to be original to the building. The seats were not appropriate for people with mobility issues. This public, rag tag area stood in contrast to the over stones of Kennedy family wealth within the exhibits. Can the Kennedy descendants step in and fund a few upgrades?

You went all the way to Boston and you didn't visit the JFK Presidential Museum and Library, Are you mad???

By michaelmM421JS |

I had several people from Australia , who had already been to Boston ask me what we did. "Weren't you bored?" , they asked
My stock, standard reply has been "Of course, you visited the JFK Presidential Library and Museum", sadly, for them, most have said no.
This is a place not to be missed no matter how old or young you are, nor does it matter what nationality you are.
Here is a place to get a comprehensive lesson on a person who probably moulded the entire history of the planet up until the millenium.
This should be one of the first places to visit when in Boston.

This is a reminder of what President should be like

By bonniebenson1404 |

Wonderful wonderful few hours being reminded of how smart and sophisticated a United States President could / should be. This museum captured JFKennedy from his election through his Presidency
The setting is breath taking and a must to do if you are in Boston and want to be reminded of how politics was supposed to be an important and respected profession

The building is interesting, but the contents are much more so

By dbelltn |

It's a bit of a trip from the center of Boston, but well worth it (in my opinion, of course). You get a more in-depth view of our 35th president, from his early years up to his death. It was a trip back in time for me in that there are displays of everyday items from that time period including some video clips (TV shows from that time including clips of Walter Cronkite (I felt that his words were as close to the truth as you could get).
While I know that Kennedy made some mistakes and was known to be a womanizer (before the press made a big deal about it), I felt he was true visionary. I love the fact that he said we would go to the moon and we (America) did. There are also several artifacts from his presidency including some form Jackie Kennedy (later Jackie O.).
I only wish our current administration had some of the same dignity....
The admission is $14 for adults, $12 if you are 62+, and worth it.

Excellent museum

By Chris B |

I did not know much about JFK, but my mother did who was travelling with me. The museum is nicely laid out and very informative. The architecture and location is impressive. I was surprised that they did not have his books in the gift shop nor many items related to Jackie.

Nice museum

By Cameron Brushwood |

A nice museum. Some very interesting exhibits and displays (especially the videos on offer) which give a great insight into President Kennedy. Lovely views over the Boston bay area too.

Stormy day option

By DThomasTX |

This stormy week we found the JFK presidential museum to be a surprisingly concise historical refuge. The museum is located near the UMass campus and overlooks the ocean waves. The museum chronicles the president from childhood to college to professional services. Additionally, his wife’s contributions are reviewed. The self-guided museum tour was very interesting for middle-age and older adults. The numerous exhibits and poignant moments of this great American are preserved for all generations. Definitely a good option on a stormy day.

Excellent Piece of History at the JFK Library and Museum

By Alice F |

We enjoyed several hours at the JFK Presidential Museum and Library. Viewing all of the exhibits, hearing his speeches, and seeing the extensive collection of films and photographs was very moving. We were children when President Kennedy was elected and assassinated, so visiting the museum brought back many memories. I especially liked seeing his brother, RFK's office, Jackie Kennedy's dresses, and newsreels with the White House Press Corp. We were also impressed with the WWII and Ernest Hemingway exhibits. In our opinion, a visit to the JFK Presidential Museum and Library is a "must do" during a trip to Boston. We took the T (subway) from near Copley Square, transferred to a second train, and got on a free bus to University of Massachusetts where the Museum is located.

JFK library. Great off the beaten path stop.

By DaisyAnna75 |

What a beautiful building! We enjoyed our visit to the JFK library. Our tour was so informative (a little long- the kids were bored) but overall glad we went.

Ideally, give yourself 3-4 hours if you love history

By CarGeek |

Very excellent tribute to JFK (and related history) with many incredible exhibits. The brief film that was created around the secret recordings of key figures in the discussions regarding the Bay of Pigs invasion that JFK had the foresight to record in the Oval Office was riveting and transports you back in time to when we were on the brink of nuclear war, was a favorite. It’s also hard not to walk away and understand the skill and power of diplomacy in keeping the modern world in a peaceful state. Seeing JFK’s sailboat Victura that he had since age 15 is also a special treat. We had 3 hours to view all the exhibits before closing time and wished we had 1 more hour.

Bittersweet

By Bacc35 |

The experience unlocked my memories of when serious people considered politics an honorable task for intelligent people. I remembered, I smiled, a tear or 2 escaped and I learned some new details. Try to catch the temporary exhibit on the First Children. It’s a delight.

Great Time At The JFK Presidential Museum & Library In Boston Massachusetts

By John K |

Our family vacation started in Boston and ended in NYC. The JFK Presidential Museum & Library was an unplanned visit on our way to Fenway Park. My wife and I traveled from San Diego with our adult children/spouses, nephews and all 4 grand kids. We want to thank Michael Hancock for making this a memorable experience for the entire family. He was welcoming and informative as he greeted us into the museum. We highly recommend adding this site to your vacation plans.

Well done and interesting

By Mary B |

What a beautiful, thoughtful place. Each exhibit was done well, including the many videos you’re able to watch. I felt I got a much deeper knowledge (and appreciation) for JFK and his entire family. Loved all the pieces on display as well. The building itself is stunning. The current exhibit on White House pets was very well done and enjoyable for all ages. We went on a Wednesday in July when it opened and had the place basically to ourselves. A very enjoyable experience.

Excellent visit with kids between 8 and 15

By Andrew J |

We just visited with our kids (15, 12 and 8) today/Sunday. It is an excellent compact museum, with a good mix of artefacts, displays, and movies (two really good ones in small cinemas; one on his early life, and one on the Cuba missile crisis). The 2 older kids were engaged in several areas (giving them a good overview of JFK, US politics, and the Cold War), and the 8 year old coped OK with our 3+ hour stay (helped by the nice little cafe for a lunch break, and quite small crowds). We caught the red line to JFK-UMass then walked 20min along the waterfront. The building itself is very attractive, with the deliberate connection to water, and flag hall very striking.

Understated elegance

By Susan W |

Its beauty hits you after you have left. It is curated in a way that is simple yet detailed.

It is classy, educated, and a nod to the man as a person, Dad, Husband, Son and President.

His library reflects his vision for what a greater America looked like in his eyes.

Ironically, the only other Presidential Library I have visited is LBJ’s. His was lovely as well, just in a more ‘everything is bigger in Texas.’

What an honor to visit and learn from a stand-out President.

The section dedicated to RFK is also touching.

Family visit

By dclaes46 |

This was a stop while visiting our grandkids (and their parents) in Boston. We were teenagers when he was President and did not pay much attention to it at the time. I found the museum well presented easy flowing, and extremely interesting. It was a good blend of static items and sit down movies. The facility was clean and bright. It is worth the time to visit. They have a lot of parking, shuttles to public transportation and a great view.

The Grandkids did not seem to be terribly interested but after we left they were asked some questions about JFK and they did a good job of answering.

Interesting and well presented

By MancMan78 |

Had a pleasant couple of hours here, easy to get to with a free shuttle bus from the station.

There isn't a huge amount of groundbreaking stuff that we didn't already know, and JFK's relatively short life and presidency means it isn't going to cover the longest time period.

However, there are some excellent exhibits and displays, and the walkthrough in chronological order is very well designed and laid out.

A nice cafe added to the experience, good value overall for the money.

GREAT HISTORY, TOO RUSHED

By Mark M |

president Kennedy's library was a really great place to visit. Unfortunately for us, we went from a cruise ship, so there were hundreds of people there. We got 45 mins to tour but the film was 20 minutes....so we had to rush through. I would have preferred a longer visit. The bus tour tour then sent us off on a 2 hour ride through Boston where we heard about every bank and insurance company there. They should have left that time for the excellent library vice all of that wasted blather. Well done to the JFK Library, minus ten points for the tour group!

Awesome experience

By Asha |

I visited the Presidential Library and I extremely enjoyed it.. it was amazing seeing all of the exhibits and I’d definitely visit the Library again

JFK OK

By Toni |

What a great museum, it’s different and has a mix of real artefacts, short cinema shows and information on the early life of JFK. We went on Monday at 10am when it opens. It was not crowded and had plenty time to look around at the exhibits. It has a small
Cafe that does hot and cold food but you can picnic outside if you choose. The building is modern and stunning.
The shore line outside has a nice walkway and view of the bay and the skyline.
It’s not for young kids. Teenagers are ok if interested. Some nice items in the merchandise shop.
JFK was a great man with a dream.
BTW I had seafood chowder in the cafe and it was very nice.

great visit

By CHKV |

There is so much to see on JFk & Jackie. Interesting exhibit on the 1960 debates and election. A must do for any JFK or Jackie buffs. We spent about 3 hours there.

Amazing to see history in awesome facility

By ballet06 |

Great library, and history about JFK. I always wanted to learn more about JFK and his life and family and political life. great exhibits that explained this.

Video storytelling at its best!

By BhamDan1 |

We grew up in the Boston area but had not been here for years, until we visited last week with our adult son. Phenomenal use of video throughout the museum to tell the story of our 35th president. And what a story it is — even if you leave out the events of 11/22/63 which this museum largely and thankfully does. It would be impossible to come away from the evidence presented here with a conclusion that JFK was an intellectual lightweight. We went to the Reagan Library a few years ago, and the facilities are equally impressive.

Worth the visit

By Lois W |

My husband and I have visited almost all of the presidential libraries and this one is at the top of the list. While he was only president for three years, his speeches and written words will forever be part of American history. The coverage of the Cuban missile coverage was well covered and explained it in detail.

Great Experience!

By Kurt S |

John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum & Library

Great experience and history. Inspirational in today’s environment. What a tremendous man in comparison to current leader.

Don’t miss this fabulous experience

By M H |

This was incredible. Such a wonderful museum in a truly beautiful setting. Well worth a visit, with some fascinating exhibits and stories.

So much to see!

By capeboat |

If you are interested in the city, the period, JFK presidency and the many historic events of the 50's and 60's don't miss this vast collection. Gorgeous location, spectacular building and space on Boston Harbor. Relaxed but excellent tour guide or wander on your own. Could roan it all day. Luckily there is small cafe for a quick bite overlooking the water if you don't want to leave for lunch.

Boston’s “Recent” History - don’t miss!

By travelannie503 |

Terrific pre-flight topper to exploration of historic Boston. Exhibits are very well done and accessible to all. Movie vignettes are well-produced and engaging for kids and adults alike. Free parking and easy 2-hr pre-flight activity. Minutes from Logan Airport. Gift shop and “cafe” offer limited options - spend your time in the museum!

Kind of a disappointment

By Lou P |

The museum building is stunning and the views are great. We found the comments to be true that most of it is video clips. We were all young during the Cuban Missile Crisis, so we found it very interesting to learn more about that. The exhibits are well done, but we were disappointed in what was a pivotal point in our lives, being kind of glossed over. We get that it is still a controversial subject to discuss the assassination, but passing over it to the burial made a void in our visit. The cafe was nice, but the food was very limited. The sailboat was not on display.

Great museum

By Rebecca M |

We really enjoyed the museum. The history of President Kennedy was interesting and the site was located in a beautiful area.

A walk back in time beautifully done!

By Bart Bellaire |

The JFK presidential library is a wonderful exhibit giving you insight into the many highlights of JFK’s short but celebrated political career. Regardless of your political affiliation this collection is amazing. , and should be viewed in you are ever in the area. Through the library and it’s contents a true time capsule of American History has been created. Having never been to a Presidential library before I will now make it a point to see other to see if they are as impressive.

Incredibly moving

By Burtonesque |

A suitably impressive monument to an intelligent, brave and complicated man. Watching the astonishing mix of videos and memorabilia makes you realise what a loss to 20th century politics Kennedy was,

A Tribute to a President

By Jim M |

To take this walk back in history was sobering to see. The museum contains all kinds of presidential archives and times of interest. The location was chosen by Mrs. Kennedy since it reflected the JFK's love for sailing and its view of the Boston skyline. One can tour solo or take a guided tour with staff. We chose the solo option to take the walk at our pace. Beautifully done as a tribute to a great president.

Very informative exhibition

By shanec |

My friends and I took the Boston City tour but it did not include JFK Museum so we hoped on the subway and it worked out quite well. The Museum is in a very impressive building at a beautiful location. The Museum is set up well and viewing the short film to start your visit will give you great insight into the early life of JFK.Interesting exhibits help understand early to political life. Definitely a very educational experience and the views of Boston harbour are amazing.

A Great Library

By Ralph Y |

If you are interested in history you must visit the JFK Library. It is located on a beautiful site with amazing views. The videos especially of President Kennedy's press conferences are worth the trip alone.

Wonderful!

By Holly M |

This was a fantastic museum. I really felt like I was a part of it all, and got to know JFK well. Can’t wait to bring my kids there someday!!

Don't Miss This Venue

By jck1376 |

This was our first presidential library visit. We weren't sure what to expect, but this was a great experience. The library is designed to have you walk thru JFK's life.

Great exhibits and interactive areas. It was really well done.

There is a good café where you can sit and view the coast. There are areas where you can sit and work. Free parking.

Staff was super helpful. It's definitely worth visiting.

Tribute to one of America’s great presidents

By Natale V |

The local is already splendid and the buildingis very nice, but the way the exhibit is set up is really interesting. You start with a 20 minutes film about his youth and early years. After that you move to the exhibit itself starting with JFK’s nomination during the Democratic convention. Several rooms depicts his presidency with photos, videos and documents.
Only his assassination isn’t presented in detail... what is good.

Relearning why we love JFK

By Ron Schilling |

Through a well thought out combination of text and video the feeling rapidly comes back. JFK was a spirit- always good to see him, hear him, read about him.

A JFK interaction was always an upper. At the JFK library one receives a series of uppers. It gives you a huge dose of goodness to see him in action.

Being from California it’s quite a trip. It was the 1st stop on a river cruise starting in NYC and ending in Montreal.

I highly recommend the JFK Library as a must do on a regular basis.

Fascinating insights

By Giles D |

Visited without pre-booking on a Saturday in October. This museum will take around 2 hours to see in full and gives a fascinating insight to JFK, focussing mainly on his time before being US President. The introductory movie is an excellent setting for the museum, while the museum is quieter on his death and funeral.
Parking was free when we visited. It is also nice to wander around the outside of the museum along the coast.

A good thing to see in Boston

By Diane |

Well done. Contained something from every aspect of JFK's life and death. Interesting archtecture. Inexpensive.

J.F.K ok

By Jake B |

Outstanding tribute to the 35th. president of the United States. Strategically located overlooking Dorchester Bay, the weather was cold but the bay was enhanced by Common Eider ducks hunting for crabs, directly by the library itself. The J.F.K. Library was only the second presidential library I had visited. Firstly, immerse yourself in a 25 minute film of his life, from his birth in Brookline to his 1960 nomination for the Democratic presidency of the United States. Galleries portray pivotal roles in the life of J.F.K.s life such as his role in the navy during World War Two. Fascinating exploits of his role as skipper in PT-109 which as rammed by a Japanese destroyer. See the coconut he wrote 'Alive' when he was thrown into the Pacific. Numerous artifacts bring his story to life from politics and his romance and marriage to Jackie. Enjoy the many gifts given to J.F.K. and his wife from statemen and dignitaries from around the globe. The assassination is thankfully downplayed and the galleries end with memorials to the 35th. president, notably
with one at Runnymead in the U.K..
Small expensive cafe completes your visit,
plus a well stocked gift shop. Intriguing and informative library which could easily take 2 to 3 hours to visit. Well worth your
time and price of admission.

A Must-see Museum when visiting Boston

By dianep119 |

The library and museum is a must-see for visitors to Boston. The history of JFK and the contributions that he made to our country are beautifully exhibited in a comfortable and well-organized manner. I found the museum to be very educational about the history of our country at that time, especially around the Cuban Missile crisis. I never knew how close our country came to another war. Thank goodness cooler heads prevailed! The museum covers JFK's life from childhood to his eventual career in government and politics and why. There is a very respectful tribute to JFK and his assassination however the museum doesn't focus on that. Instead, the focus is on educating the public on the foundation of JFK's message and how it remains meaningful today. I would recommend that anyone visiting Boston take the time to visit.

Outstanding History of JFK's Presidency

My husband insisted that we visit the JFK Library while visiting Boston and I'm so very glad he did! It was an amazing and comprehensive experience with informative exhibits and displays. We highly recommend!

Extremely Well Done

By CTMSUDAWG76 |

I was leery to bring my 10 and 11-year-olds here, but we stayed a lot longer than I thought we would. The museum was extremely well done and my family got a lot out of visiting. We will definitely be back!

Full of fascinating artifacts

By Adventure Diva |

Dedicated to the brief life of JFK's leadership and legacy, I try to make the effort to visit this place when in Boston. This museum overlooks the Boston skyline as well as an outdoor walkway along Dorchester Bay.

Must Visit

By butlerdawg |

Visited with my 15 year old son. A lot to take in but well worth the visit. Would recommend making this a stop when visiting Boston. We learned many new and interesting things about JFK and his life.

Bucket list

By windy1875 |

We took the red line there were works ongoing so we had to get off at pre marked stop and get the bus the rest of the way, all very well organised. When the bus lets you off that’s where you get back on, don’t be fooled by the pick up sign at the actual library ! I really enjoyed this exhibition it’s all about his life before he was killed, albeit small nod to it at end of exhibition. Lovely walk outside where you could apparently walk all the way back to Boston but 1hr 20 plus in really warm weather didn’t suit us !

Outstanding building, views and exhibits

By gatortunor |

The JFK museum and library is simply a must-do. You’ll get great views across the Boston Harbor while admiring the soaring glass structure designed by I.M. Pei. The videos are really good at explaining the history. Don’t miss JFKs sailboat parked just outside.

Where were you when .....?

By Disneybus |

We remember where we were during life changing worldly events; Challenger disaster, 9/11, Beatles on Ed Sullivan, moon landing, and of course the JFK assassination; I was a high school freshman. My wife and I enjoyed touring the museum, but it was always with some sort of reverence because you know how the story ends. The museum was nicely laid out starting with a short film; you then follow the exhibits from his election through his career. Unlike some other presidential museums, this one seemed lacking material, but then you remember that his body of work was shortened to only two years. Along the way, there are videos of memorable events, including Cronkite announcing the election, the Cuban missile crisis, and civil rights achievements. We wish there was more on Jackie, and the assassination - it seemed that the whole Dealey plaza day was skimmed over. We found that tours were disturbing, as the guides were loud and disruptive to those engrossed in the exhibits. There is a small café and gift shop - be sure to go outside to visit his Victura sail boat.

Very very nice

By Tnlfnc |

The museum is a celebration of the much-loved President John Kennedy; a well-constructed storytelling that, although it leaves no room for the shadows of this man, convinces and fascinates for the ideals he preached and that still have value today.

Excellent Overview of JFK's life

By KosherAndGlutenFree |

We spent about 4 hours in the museum.

The museum tells the story of JFK's upbringing, his stay in the US Navy, his early career, and his career as a politician.

A large part of the story is told through videos, including many of his speeches, parts of the Nixon/Kennedy debates, and TV commercials for his election campaigns.

There is a movie of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and videos of Jackie in the White House and on foreign trips.

JFK is a very well-known personality, and i didn't learn very much, but it was a very pleasant experience anyway.

Plenty of free parking, and there is a cafe and giftshop inside.

Step Back In Time

By shelleysc0rner |

One of my favorite Presidential museums! LOVE the location -- it perfectly fits Pres. Kennedy's love of the water. The building is lovely and not overwhelming. The multiple films are just the right length and the presentation of all the materials was well-done. I appreciated the personal focus on the man in addition to his role as President. Also, a very nice job was done on Mrs. Kennedy. God bless America!

Worth the trip

By Jeff H |

Excellent summary of President Kennedy's life, term as president and family summary. Lots of artifacts, short video clips, all laid out in chronological order to make it easy to comprehend. Highly recommend.

Surrounding lost attraction through all the new buildings - the museum and the architecture are still top.

By René R |

-Bus service is not easy; a) no real bus station, b) only one way buses and c) difficult to flag down.
How about better signs.
-Exhibition is as good as 25 years ago.
-Movie! too bad, you do not show the fascinating older movie from I think "Gugenheim" anymore. This older movie has much more debth and is by far more interesting. Just think about the dialoge between JFK and his brother during the Cuba crises and the end when the plane flies off.
-Reception. A young man prefered to eat breakfast behind the counter rather than serving me. When I told him, this is not a place toe ear, he became aggressive.

Best stop in Boston

By TourinHarleyRider |

Our favorite place we went in Boston! It was so informative and interesting. We learned more about events we hadn't known previously. Interesting to see in this time of political unrest. Great for all history buffs.

Enjoyed the library

By countingmomma |

We spent about four hours at the museum on a rainy day. This was our fifth presidential library. I appreciate the films providing information ahead of the exhibits - the first one and the one about the Cuban missile crisis were especially good. During our visit there was also a special exhibit about the First Children and it was good, but that song that kept repeating grew annoying. We also appreciated seeing JFK’s boat on display outside. From the city of Boston, we rode the subway and then rode the bus that circles UMass’s campus to get to the library - easy access.

A CONNECTION THAT COULD NOT BE IGNORED!

By skarthi |

On our visit from the U.K. and staying in a nearby hotel - 15 minutes away walk brought us to the JFK Presidential Museum and Library. It was an experience charting his life through the various elections finishing with the Presidency. The walk through has exhibits including shop fronts with displayed Goods from the 50's - A mock up of his Campaign office with relevant banners and posters, news stands with papers charting the progress. A duplicate of the White House corridor - the Oval Office and a replicated office for Attorney Generals Robert Kennedy's office with original letters and objects from his desk encased. Gifts are displayed in protective cases given to the Kennedy's by World leaders during his time in office when walking through the Chandelier festooned corridor. A coffee shop with small restaurant sells a fantastic bowl of clam chowder - not too be missed.
Being of a certain age and who lived through the assassination of JFK - we had to make the visit.

Gorgeous views n interesting place

By TravelinSuz |

All the details on JFK’s presidency, life and times was awesome. There’s a piece of the Berlin Wall. Artifacts related to WW2 service, clothing, and the glamor. The first thing that struck me was the floor to ceiling wall of glass the great view of Boston harbor and cape cod bay.

Well done and inspiring

By edwardsL4770VP |

This museum and library has the perfect balance of content quality and quantity. The videos are excellent and the way the rooms are set up each point of time and history are thorough yet digestible.

Some museums have so much content it becomes overwhelming and you lose context in the minutiae, but this was outstanding. A stark reminder that public service used to be actually serving the public and flawed human beings could also do good and be inspiring.

Good experience

By Samuel S |

Enjoyed the museum. The documentaries were especially interesting. I wish there was more on his assassination. Overall good experience.

Excellent Tribute to JFK and American History

By Lacey S |

The museum is definitely worth a visit and is a short drive from downtown Boston. We took an Uber, but there is free parking. A free coat check is also available - go left when you enter, past the gift shop. Purchase tickets to the right of the entrance.

The many exhibits contain writings, objects, recordings, and video clips from the Kennedy family. The Oval Office, RFK's office, and the White House hallway are all recreated, bringing the period to life. My husband and I are both lovers of history and spent over two hours in the museum.

Step back in history

By Edward W |

Camelot re-visited. Brings back memories of 1960's, so close to another world war. Details of Kennedy's youth, and his less than stellar academics, should encourage all young adults who are not sure if they have the "right stuff" to succeed. Worth a visit. Ask for veterans discount admission.

Deep Dive

By SouthDakotaDoni |

I learned SO MANY things about JFK that I had not previously been aware of. His life leading up to running for presidency was especially enlightening. I spent about 1.5hrs, did not read every single thing nor watch all the videos. I would expect a completely thorough visit to take more like 2.5-3hrs. Definitely recommend!

One of the most interesting places we have ever visited.

By LMKenny87 |

One of the most interesting places we have ever visited. Could easily have spent the full day inside - the films and displays were excellent. We used our Go City pass but it is well worth the admission fee. Really easy to get to from Boston by public transport and the free Paul Revere shuttle bus.

John F Kennedy Presidential Museum & Library

By PandyPandora |

Located in Dorchester near the University of Massachusetts, this is a must for anyone interested in all things JFK. Parking is free. Outside and down the steps you will find his sailing boat Victura and a great view of the waterfront. The information about his life and career is interesting and there is a cafe and gift shop on site.

A little out of the way but a MUST see!

By Valerie |

Experiencing the Kennedy presidency in my teens made my visit to this library a must! The layout of the facility was beautiful and engaging for every step of JFK’s life. The coverage of his assassination brought back the shock and fear of that event.

My favorite exhibit was the coverage of the First Lady’s wardrobe. She captured the world with her couture. I was impressed with the details of each description as it provided the color, fabric and designer.

Even if you think you know everything about JFK... you need to see this!

By Marc S |

One of the days we were in Boston it was raining, this wasn't on our planned itinerary, but hey it's raining let's do it... Aren't we happy we did! This building is amazing, it contains alot of information about the life and presidency of JFK. There are a lot of artifacts that you can see and gawk at! The history part of it, makes you realize how much of a great president he was for a man as young as he was. I have a greater appreciation now for what he did and mostly for what he didn't do.
Everything here is spotless and cared for. Would highly recommend to anyone who as an interest or even if you just want to get more information about that time of history.
** Please note, we took a cab to get there. Trying to return to our hotel from here was a bit of a pain. Some of the taxi companies we called wouldn't even make the trip out to pic us up. Having a taxi phone inside or close would be a great time/energy saver for out of country visitors

Wonderful 3 hours

By MikeBoulder |

We spent 3 Hours at the museum and loved every minute. It is a beautiful facility thoughtfully laid out with great views of the bay. A particular highlight was learning about his pre-presidential time through a movie narrated with clips from a JFK interview so it was in his own words.

The museum is very modern, with visual and auditory displays.

Highly recommended!

Worth the effort

By Andrew S |

Housed in a beautiful building on the shore (designed by I M Pei), this museum about and tribute to JFK is a little out of the way but worth the effort. A free shuttle service from the nearest T (subway) station makes it relatively easy to reach. Many interesting exhibits and short films give a good sense of the charismatic man and President - and of the times.

Great place to get a sense for history around JFK

By dalidude |

This museum gives a fair and good representation of the life of JFK and how he grew to become one of the youngest presidents in the USA. Following the early life a part of the museum is showing some of the challenges that he went through during the Cold War and other events during his presidency.

The location has a free bus from UMASS subway station.

A fitting tribute to a great man

By Phil G |

Having been to the JFK Museum in Cape Cod I wasn’t prepared for the level of detail, information, memorabilia and footage this museum offers. From the initial video the tour offers, at times, personal and sad coverage of JFK’s life and time in office.
With the opportunity to peruse all the artefacts and stories meant I was able to complete the tour without being ushered along or on a timescale.
The entrance fee is very good value for money.
The coffee and cakes in the cafe are pretty good too.
A great day and well worth a visit.
Thank you.

A most touching visit

By Debra G |

We went here spur of the moment as our first day in Boston was a rainy one and we were looking for more indoor activities. It is an impressive and beautiful building on the water. I loved that Jackie O had picked the specific Charles river location due to her husband's love of the water.
The entire museum is a highly educational and the rooms are structured to allow you to learn about President Kennedy's life in a linear fashion. The first room ("Young Jack") gives you the overview of the Kennedy family and JFK's childhood, education (I was not aware he struggled with his grades in his early years!), and military service. You then proceed to auditorium where you watch a short movie. The exit will then take you to the 1960 presidential campaign (including B + W footage of the JFK-Nixon debate), to the entire film of his acceptance speech (ARTICULATE, ELOQUENT), and other rooms cover different times of his presidency (such as the oval office, ceremonial room, space program room, Berlin, and the assassination). What a fascinating slice of American History. I had actually forgotten that the Peace Corps was founded by JFK - Sargent Shriver. Very moving, very tasteful, and entirely glad to have spent time here. You exit the library to the beautiful airy glass walled atrium (hallmark of IM PEI). Good place for photos with river background. Exit through the gift shop. Small, but lots of tasteful items for purchase. Highly recommend a visit here.

Something for everyone

What a great experience! Something for everyone at this museum. You are reminded about the 1960's and what an impact JFK had during his short time in office.

The trip to the library was very interesting and provided excellent insight into JFK and what he stood for.

Historically Must See In Boston

By Ryan |

I made it a point to visit the JFK Presidential Museum while in Boston and it didn't disappoint. The history here that is on display is amazing. If you are a fan of history and especially this time period you will enjoy this museum. The displays are really interesting from the look of the rooms in the White House to the Space Program. While you are there you get a real sense of the time period and the many issues facing that administration. The location of the museum is also really nice being right on the harbor. If you go outside you can view the city and see the jets constantly flying over your head into Logan. This is really a very interesting museum and worth the visit if you love history.

Definitely Worth the Time

By Dave C |

This was one the definite historical attractions that we wanted to visit on our list. Both my wife and I were upper class high schoolers when President Kennedy was assassinated. Everything presented at the museum and library was personally impactful to us. From a historical perspective, I would hightly recommended visiting the museum regardless of your age. It covers a period of our country's history that had a lot of very dynamic things going at the same time and all during Kennedy's time in office. The presentation of information and materials is truly outstanding.

Cool presidential library

By Dewayne P |

This was a really cool presidential library! It told the complete story of not just John but the Kennedy family. So many historic objects, videos, and information. Free parking and modest fee.

Well curated and inspirational

By Alison S |

Having grown up in the '60's, this museum is a bitter-sweet nostalgia trip. The museum highlights the positives in Kennedy's career, with many excellent videos - key speeches, the Kennedy/Nixon debates, etc. Also several excellent short films on JFK's early life, the Cuban Missile Crisis, etc. This man was a true leader with a message of hope, service and unity.

A definite worthwhile visit in Boston

By 631BarbaraM |

Impressive and well laid out. The videos are especially helpful in understanding certain points in President Kennedy’s administration. The walk way through a White House hallway extends into specific displays all nicely put together. The current WWII exhibit is excellent focusing on historical points but displaying John Kennedy’s naval uniform and his brother Joe’s hat and last letter to his parents. Easily you will spend about 2-3 hours there. Definitely worth a visit.

Interesting place

By KMMBQD |

This was the first presidential library we visited. It is a lovely IM Pei designed building on a beautiful site. The library highlights JFK’s life and the high points and accomplishments. I was surprised it left out Bay of Pigs and JFK Jr. death.

Wonderful Museum!

By Peregrine30 |

incredible, moving, informative, and so interesting! I cannot believe I have never visited having grown up in MA and lived in Boston for so many years. So well done, stunning location, and amazing tribute to a great man. Highly recommend!

Very Nice Presidential Library

By NorCal-traveler08 |

This was a very nicely presented Presidential Library. The senior price of $12 was very reasonable. The free shuttle bus from the T red line was very helpful. The film on the Cuban Missile Crisis was well done and very helpful in understanding what went on during that time. I was surprised at how small his sail boat was(you picture it much bigger). The museum is not really big so you can do it in a few hours. I also really enjoyed the special exhibit on WWII

I learned a lot

By Linda K |

Fascinating. I was a child when Kennedy was president and it’s a tad embarrassing at how much I didn’t know. So I learned a lot. Very well done with movies and displays.

Fascinating and moving

By MrBlech |

Engaging exhibits on a tragically short presidency, with wonderful artifacts from JFK’s personal as well as public life. We learned a great deal about the public service of the Kennedys, plus far greater detail about the Cuban Missile Crisis, Bay of Pigs, and origins of the space program. Plus a great deal about Mrs. Kennedy’s contributions. Well worth a visit.

Great

By Rick |

Great videos and artifacts from all the important events of Kennedy's life and accomplishments. Much on Jackie and the family - separate rooms on the Peace Corps, the space programs, etc. -

rude staff!!!!

By kukla919 |

The films, photographs, recordings and items were beautifully and respectfully presented. Without a time warning for closure, 2 to three staff came up behind us at 3:45 yelling “please walk to the exit-the museum is closing.” I thought closing was 5 but even at 4…give me a break! At 3:50 I had to squeeze through partially opened gate to browse the gift shop only to be yelled at as soon as I got there. Yuck

Well worth seeing

By Steve L |

For anyone even remotely interested in the history of the US and JFK, this is a must visit. The exhibits are extensive and very well laid out, with movies to view, things to read and recreations of rooms to stand in; showcasing many possessions and files of not only John F Kennedy, but his whole family and historical artifacts. The building itself is also in a stunning setting. A very memorable way to spend a few hours in Boston. Easy to get to and well worth the admission.

Wow so inspriational

By Judy C |

I had never been to a presidential library and was expecting a dry blahblahblah experience. This was the complete opposite of that experience. The library is so well thought out and designed that I learned a lot about Kennedy and have a huge appreciation for how much JFK accomplished or began while in office; his legacy is enormous. Everything was put in a great context historically even the culture of the day and to actually be able to hear so many of his speeches and other recordings brought the history alive. We were there a couple hours having arrived later in the afternoon, but easily could have spent more time.

The Highlight of our Boston Visit!

By LivinglifeinPA |

LOVED this museum!!!!!!! Very informative displays, photos, and videos about JFK's life.....from his childhood through his tragic death.

The location of the museum itself is great, featuring a spectacular view.

This museum needs be on everyone's list when visiting Boston.

An Amazing Experience

By John B |

I saw this in 2004, but this museum still sticks with me even though that was sixteen years ago. If you have never read my reviews, I am not a museum person. Very few attract my attention. This would be one of them. John F. Kennedy, whether you like him or hate him, was a fascinating person in our country's history. This museum has artifacts from his younger life to his presidency. There was a video that you watched before you went in to the see the exhibit. It is on the outskirts of the city, but worth it.

Impressive

By luckyv |

Everything about the library and museum is impressive. It is beautiful and very well done. The library and museum are near the grounds of University of Massachusetts
and overlook Boston Harbor.
I could have spent hours and hours there reading and learning about JFK. It was very, very interesting and I would highly recommend making time if in the Boston area.

Enjoyable

By fullylivinglife |

We have visited most of the presidential libraries and this was a good one. There's a lot to see, though it includes nothing about the assassination. The library sits right on the Bay so the view out the library windows is stunning. The winds coming off the Bay almost blew our feet out from under us. We were told that the winds off the Bay are normal. If you're a history buff and you're visiting Boston, the JFK Presidential Library should be on your list of places to visit.

Well done

By sharrongeg |

We love Presidential Libraries and enjoyed our visit to this one. Two things stood out to us (having just visited the LBJ library in Austin)...
A. Controversial topics/issues of the time were not well addressed.
B. The library was lacking in personal items from JFK and the First Lady

Despite that, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely visit again.

Very interesting

By Aero3926 |

Nice job of not only telling about the President, but also setting the stage for what things were like at the time.

By njoireading247 |

We did buy our tickets ahead of time, but you do not need to. There are videos at various exhibits as you move through the library and even narration by JFK. It does require some time to move through all the exhibits so plan accordingly. The Cuban Missile Crisis was very interesting as was the exhibit on his presidential run. A slice of history that should be remembered.

A Beautiful, Informative Visit — and Free This Month!

By Thomas B |

We had a great time visiting the newly reopened JFK Presidential Library. Since admission is free until the end of the month, it felt like a total win-win. The exhibits were engaging and thoughtfully put together, and we especially loved the cute exhibit about pets of the White House — everything from raccoons to horses!

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The only downside was the gift shop — definitely overpriced and a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the visit.

The grounds themselves are stunning, sitting right on the water. It’s getting pretty cold out, but still absolutely worth stepping outside for the views.

Overall, a must-visit! If you can make it this month while it’s free, even better.

Very impressive museum

By concubhair2017 |

We visited the JFK Presidential Library and Museum. A free shuttle bus takes visitors from the nearest T station to the museum.
The building itself is an impressive modern structure situated on the University of Massachusetts campus, and right beside the waterfront - a stunning building in a stunning location.
The immersive exhibition is detailed without ever becoming overwhelming or dull. All aspects of Kennedy’s political career are featured, with artefacts, recreations and substantial video displays. Highly recommended- we happily spent 3 hours visiting all of the displays.

Amazing

By thomcarey |

This place is in a great location and looks amazing instead and out. Inside the starting video was great followed by really informative exhibits. Great for children and adults.

Glad we went, but just an average experience.

By Splanky |

We like to visit Presidential libraries and homes, so this was a bucket list item. Though we enjoyed out time here, we were left a bit unimpressed. It seemed like a "Presidential Library Lite" place. Housed in an IM Pei building, impressive in itself, the bulk of our time there was spent in the basement museum; kind of hard to understand that decision. The orientation and Cuban Missile Crisis movies were excellent and offered detailed information. A docent ushered us from the orientation movie downstairs then continued to attempt to lead almost a guided tour of the museum, which we found intrusive and annoying. We, and most others, broke away from the group to read and experience the museum information in our own time. The individual displays left a little to be desired. It felt like they were holding back on artifacts and items of significance. The museum is set on the water with fantastic views of Boston and the bay, however, it is rather difficult to get to with public transportation. We opted for an Uber from Boston. This museum paled against other Presidential Libraries we've been to - Reagan, Nixon, Eisenhower, Truman. Give it 1.5-2 hours. That's all you'll need.

Looked forward to this for a long time

By Susan B. |

I was one of only 2 people in the Museum after it opened. There was an excellent film about the president's life. The lobby of the theater section had memorabilia and stories of the president from youth to president. Other than that there was a beautiful view of Boston Harbor, a gift shop and nothing else. I thought the library was something you could see .

Very educational and informative. We enjoyed the experience. We had lunch at cafe was great. Beautiful setting.

Well presented.

By Alex F |

I went in with reservations and came out very satisfying. Well, organize, clean, excellent historical displays, media, and historical conservation. The use of public transportation to the facility was a little bit doubtful but we made it OK.

A very beautiful city, and one that deserves to be visited with time.

By Maria F |

The first thing that impresses is the beautiful buildings in the different neighborhoods, the cleanliness of the city and its calmer pace. There is a lot to see and it is worth a visit of several days. There were only two of us and we were left wanting more.

A Nice Presidential Libray

By Heatherbelle73 |

I loved reading about the Kennedys in the past, so given an opportunity to explore the museum was awesome.

A lot of pertinent information for avid fans of Kennedy history. There was a lot of positive information with a low focus on the assassination of President Kennedy. Even that was tastefully done. The museum concluded with a final look at all of the plans and projects were started due to his Presidency, which was perfect after such a somber subject matter.

*It is child friendly, but I can't guarantee Littles won't get bored.

A step back in time

Really cool place with a lot of items from Kennedy's presidency. The final stop in our tour where the piece of the Berlin wall tied it in the entire experience.

Beautiful place to relive this presidents life!

By Drfoodlover2 |

My wife and I are old enough to remember when President Kennedy was shot. This is a beautiful facility to take your time browsing through, watching video clips, reading, and viewing all the many artifacts of his life.

Such a cool place

By Timothy M |

This is a wonderful place that actually lets you see into the life of the Kennedys. There are more levels and rooms with more information. The entry overlooks the ocean and the place will do nothing but amaze you when you visit

Plan to spend some time

By dbinhou7511 |

The movie at the beginning is a good start to museum. Full of interesting displays about JFK, the times he lived in, and living in the White House. Didn't have enough time to see it thoroughly.

MEMORIES BROUGHT TO LIFE

By jari321 |

Touring this museum was very interesting. Although too young to vote in the election, I wanted JFK to win and was happy when he did. The museum gives a broad overview of his life and political career. Many interesting short videos can be watched at your leisure and give a great retrospective of the times. Allow about 2 hours to fully enjoy the experience.

Very interesting with lots of great exhibits

By orangefri |

The JFK Presidential Museum & Library was wonderful. It had many great exhibits including one regarding the Peace Corps, which I feel was his greatest legacy. I loved seeing the exhibit on the PT109, as they had the artifacts including his medals and the coconut that he wrote on to the natives who rescued them.

Scintillating

By Dr Apurva Shah |

Excellent for history buffs. Very well maintained memoirs of JFK. The documentary moves ones'self to the world war era. One must book the ticket and timeslot beforehand. Ticket is around $18.

Worth the visit

By Jaskel08 |

We really enjoyed the museum. There is a good variety of artifacts, visual media, scene recreation, and exhibits which explore society and culture during JFK presidency. The museum was organized thematically and progress chronologically…. which was great for people to learn and follow. The presentation of the Cuban Missile Crisis was very impressive…. and was our favorite.

As much as we liked it, the museum did feel lacking of depth, awe, and impact….. especially from what one would expect from a “presidential museum”. Aside for a couple of topics like the Cuban Missile Crisis, a lot of subjects were presented quite shallowly and still others were completely skipped.

My 7-year-old daughter did get bored after a while, which was expected. I liked the location – on the waterfront, however it is a little hard to get to using public transportation. Nevertheless, my wife and I felt it was moving, educational, and were glad we went.

Great museum

By cdgardner |

We were staying in New Hampshire and decided to make the trip to Boston to visit the museum. Traffic to the museum was a nightmare. However, I’m so glad we made the trip. We spent over 4 hours in the museum and wished we could have spent more time. There is a lot to see and many videos to watch. There is a small cafe - we got clam chowder and a beefsteak sandwich - reasonably priced. If you are in Boston and have the time, I would strongly recommend this museum.

Well Worth the Visit

By gray_but_not_old |

This is a well done Museum for the late JFK. Very comprehensive and educational and not boring. You can spend a lot of time reading the displays but the many videos are even better.

JFK might not have been perfect, but he seemed like a true President that cared for the people and the world. I wonder what today would be like had he been able to serve a full term and most likely a second one. The displays depict him as a leader I could respect.

Wonderful Tribute to JFK

By KrisB4VA |

We enjoyed two hours visiting the museum and library. We highly recommend the initial movie (approximately 15 minutes). All of the exhibits were so informative.

Underwhelmed

By andrew |

Maybe I was expecting too much but was very much underwhelmed. JFK was one of the most famous presidents but limited items were on display.

Amazingly Curated

By Bobbie C |

This museum immerses you like no other, even offering a short film in the beginning of the museum experience to get you situated in the time period and history. The pieces from this museum were wonderful to look through, and it gives you a very in depth experience on the politics of the era and what the election and after-election was like at the time. There's even a well-made short film within the exhibit going over JFK's handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis, with real recordings from his private meetings with his advisors (that they did not know he was taking). All in all, this museum left me feeling reflective and hopeful, and I believe it's a great choice for anyone staying in Boston!

Great museum

Wonderful museum, I learned so much about JF Kennedy, heard a lot of his speeches I did not get to see all. We had to leave but it is so worth it

A visit, surprisingly fascinating

By El Arte De Viajar |

If you like to know about Kennedy and his history, surely you will love this museum is one of the places where you can appreciate his life and how it became so important to his nation, we loved all of us who visited him, we lacked time, my recommendation is that you at least dedicate four hours so that you can read everything presented here the photos are beautiful and this super good. beware, every detail of the presidential halls, we were fascinated, it really is a surprising visit, do not forget to visit his boat, which is outside the museum on the left side.

A wonderful experience at this important presidential library and museum.

By Sandy W |

This is an excellent memorial to one of Americas greatest presidents. We took the 11:30 AM tour which lasted a full 90 minutes. The tour guide was excellent, providing information that is not recorded on the small cards and walls. However, if you suffer a back problem, like myself, and if you are unable to stand for long periods of time, you might end up just leaning against a wall. There are very few chairs inside the small rooms and there are many small rooms where the tour guide will take you. I suggested to the information desk that they provide more chairs as only one or two of the small rooms has a chair in it. There are some sofas located in the hallways, but the tour guides do not provide their descriptions in the hallways. Overall, an excellent experience. Try the Mediterranean salad and the clam chowder in the café. Both are reasonably priced and are excellent.

Highly recommend

A wonderful reflection on Kennedy. East to take in yet leaves you with much to reflect upon. Very well done.
Nice cafe.

Kennedy Poolside Murals

By Irishwarman |

I’ve visited the library numerous times and have always enjoyed it. I liked Kennedy.
I also visited it in a professional position in the late 90’s; being invited to build its website.
My team and I were ushered upstairs into a meeting room who’s walls were covered in painted murals. As both my group and the museum staff were sitting down to begin discussions, l asked about the murals.
Someone explained they were once on the walls of the now nonexistent White House pool.
Knowing the history of Kennedy’s affairs and poolside indiscretions l couldn’t help but say, “ If walls could talk…”
Needless to say we weren’t invited back.
Truth is hard.

Informative visit

By iIwhite14 |

I have never been to a Presidential Library before and were blown away here. The story of JFK's life and presidency is told in an engaing and interesting manner. Lots of videos and artifact displays. IO recommend that you join a tour to get the most out of your visit.

An absolute must

By Roddy P |

In this world of reaction and slogans it was very grounding spending time understanding the legacy of this great American. It’s a beautiful building in a wonderful setting and the museum is magnificent and thoughtful. I really enjoyed the film on the Cuban Missile Crisis as well as the footage of his debate with Nixon. This is an absolute must.

My favorite thing we did in Boston

By Heather H |

We were in Boston for 4 days and this was my favorite thing we did. We used a City Pass for admission. The displays were incredibly well thought out, informative and engaging. The artifacts displayed were plenty. The videos that were shown were like mini documentaries with footage I had never seen before. I highly recommend you take the short trip from Downtown Boston to check out this venue.

A Great Place to Visit!

By luvtravel88 |

This was a wonderful Presidential Library to visit. The library begins when Kennedy gets the Presidential nomination in the late 50"s and goes through his presidency until 1963, but not including the assassination. There are galleries that include his family life with Jacqueline and the children.
The library is well organized and moves in a linear fashion, moving chronologically through the galleries.
There is a mixture of pictures, videos and memorabilia as you walk through.
I took us about 2 hours to work our way through.

This was my first visit and I enjoyed the videos and perspectives offered.

By rawlilly |

It was a good library, comparable to others I have visited. I enjoyed the videos and pictures. Some displays looked like they needed some TLC.

Worth it

By Neil R |

Did not know much about JFK- as I am not a history buff as much as I’d like to be. However, got a lot out of this tour. My wife and I spent only 2 hours there and could have spent 2 more. From the beginning short(ish) movie clip to the end I was intrigued the entire time. Will go again if I travel to Boston.

A piece of history

By Thesecretdiner |

This really is a must visit place if your visiting Boston, full of history from the early days onwards and really packed with information. it's set in lovely grounds although the day we visited the fog was really bad so didn't get to fully appreciate the place.

Historically important but incomplete

By yvrguy2016 |

The museum itself was beautiful. The architecture is timeless with large, wide spaces that impress upon a visitor the grandeur of the office of President. The views of the Bay were spectacular and helped create the intended impression JFK would have had as he sailed in his boat along the coast.

The museum presentations for the public were much like the JFK presidency: perhaps shorter than expected with an emphasis on appearances at the cost of learning about the man himself. Case in point: his PT boat experience was, truly, heroic. I was moved as I read about it. Yet, it was relegated to just a few installations on a wall in the first room of the museum. It was housed in the same room as a biographical film which aired in a continuous loop. I felt his military heroism deserved its own room. Regardless of what one may think of a politician, a war hero is truly selfless. This act of courage deserved its own room in the museum.

In fact, all of JFK's pre-Presidential activities, many of which were not inconsequential, are kept in this same room. I personally found it hard to understand why these were not afforded more space afforded to them. By contrast, probably a quarter of the museum space was given over to the campaign and inauguration. I appreciated the installations here, which were vivid reminders of the times and of the campaign. But I felt this was too much given what followed. It suggested form over substance, particularly considering how very close the election was.

The main rooms of the display are replicated as rooms in the White House as it appeared during the JFK era. This was a thoughtful approach. Inexplicably, the rooms in this area are low-ceilinged, quite in contrast to the museum's capacious and airy multi-storey entryway.

The museum unfortunately does not appear to tackle a number of important issues of legitimate concern to the JFK presidency: the launching of the Vietnam War subsequently cost so many American lives, the Bay of Pigs fiasco which could have been honestly presented as a learning experience for a youthful new President; and JFK's personal challenges, namely, his severe medical issues while he held office including his regime of steroid injections from Dr. Janet Travell and of, of course, his many dalliances and romances at the White House with young women. Seeing a President completely ensures that his successes are better respected. Here, we are led to believe he never put a foot wrong. And that is just simply not true of any President.

The museum concludes in a sombre, blackout room in which news footage from November 22, 1963 and the days that followed is played on a loop. The museum clearly chose not to elevate those involved in his death lest that cause the visitor to be detracted from his memory.

A secondary area separate from the rest of the museum displays artifacts relevant to Caroline and JFK Jr.'s time in the White House. This will be of special interest to baby boomers who were themselves children during this era.

Great afternoon

By DublinMumof2_e |

Visited the museum with my husband & 12 year old. Had a lovely fascinating afternoon. Held our attention the whole time. Great trip down memory lane too seeing items that were around in the late sixties and seventies.
Interesting reminder / lesson in the history of that era. Great videos / films. We all enjoyed the afternoon.

The Café is limited to light snacks. Not a large selection of items. Perfect for a coffee break but not for lunch. Have lunch before your trip. There are no food outlets around.

Another Presidential Library

By Roger W |

We like visiting presidential libraries and had wanted to see JFK's for a while. Frankly we were disappointed, great location on the water overlooking Boston and terrific design, but, in our view, lacking substance. Not on a par with many other libraries. Shame because there is a compelling story to tell.
It ran through his life chronologically, story told mostly via TV clips, posters had limited info and type too small. Barely a mention of Bay of Pigs or, surprisingly, Dallas. Told through rose tinted glasses, which to an extent they all are, but Nixon's and Clinton's covered the bases warts and all.
I know not everything was open because of covid restrictions, but it looked tired ... needs a revamp.

Historic and Worth the Time to Visit!

By Dawn S |

JFK's Presidential Museum & Library is a must if you are visiting Boston. So many exhibits, videos, and artifacts. It brought back so many memories of his Presidency when I was a teenager. I'm now 72.. I could tell my granddaughters and daughter what I remembered from his Presidency.

Accessible for all levels of interest

By Lindsay S |

I am not a huge fan of history, nor am I American, but I had a really wonderful time at the museum. Not only is it in a beautiful part of the city, it is a very well done museum that gives you an intimate glimpse into the life of the Kennedy's and also the tumultuous nature of the times in American History. Great way to spend the afternoon.

Irish American President

By George I |

Our visit to the JFK museum followed a walking tour of Harvard University. As visitor from Ireland, my view of the JFK presidency comes from a somewhat different perspective but everyone of my generation can recall exactly what they were doing the day JFK was shot.

The orientation film provided a useful reminder the President's life and political career before we walked round the exhibition itself.

The architecture of the building itself was modern and quite stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits on display and the black and white TV newsreels which brought back many memories of the Kennedy era and the optimism which accompanied his election.

'we choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things not because they are easy , but because they are hard....' Sept 1962.

My wife has read extensively about the Kennedy family and was pleased by the material relating to his wife Jackie.

It all seems such a long time ago - but the museum is doing a valuable job of educating young people about the life and times of JFK and the ideals he stood for.

Inspiring and Definitely Worth the Visit

By IllyCoffeeDrinkers |

One of us and two friends visited the John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum & Library on a cloudy Saturday morning in October. The facility itself is beautiful. There were no lines when we arrived in the morning and the introductory film was well worth watching. While no person is perfect, it was amazing to be reminded of how intelligent, passionate, charming, glamorous and successful the President and First Lady were. It was also inspiring to be reminded of all President Kennedy accomplished, dreamed to accomplish and inspired others to accomplish. There are numerous exhibits and short films which cover various aspects of President Kennedy’s life and career including his campaigns, his significant speeches, the Peace Corps, the Space Program and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Among the displays are numerous artifacts, photos and documents (some real and some facsimiles) which exquisitely personalize and dramatize the lives and careers of the President, the First Lady and his brothers Bobby and Ted (photos of a few of the items are attached). It was also awe inspiring to take the time to reread some of the President’s speeches and marvel at how he adeptly sought to inspire all Americans to work together in support of causes greater than themselves (photos of a few excerpts are also attached). Bottom line, if you are looking to be inspired or are a history buff, we highly recommend you spend a few hours at this wonderful Museum and Library. On the way out, the café and gift shop are both worth a visit too. Enjoy.

Exceptional Museum

By frogtowner |

Took our 10 and 13 year old grandkids. We've all seen other Presidential museums but this one was maybe the best. We had two hours to get thru but really needed another hour to do it justice. I lived through the JFK era and remember these events clearly. The displays, the films and videos, and the memorabilia were very well thought out and presented.

The John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston is a great historical exhibit to view

By gdoty74 |

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the JFK Memorial Museum and Presidential library.
The intro film prior to entering the museum was the best part of the tour. It was an oral and pictorial historical documentary with the voice over being the actual voice of John F. Kennedy.

The exhibits were awesome and authentic with lots of memorabilia of the President and the First Lady. It was a wonderful tour and we highly recommend it.

Good

By Lady_Tam |

It's an interesting museum - unsurprisinly only showing the positive side of JFK - and he did a lot of goid things. Unfortunately the day I was there was very misty so I didn't see the supposed beautiful views. There was no vegan food on offer but the lovely cashier arranged a huge salad and hummus wrap for me which was very reasonably priced. He even came over to check I was enjoying it!
I rode a blue bike to the museum- the bike rack is about 500m further along the road.

A trip down memory lane.

By Mark S |

A trip back to my youth. I was a teenager when Kennedy was President. He set the tone for the 1960’s. Even though I am a history buffI still learned a few new things. They have a video with recordings of the discussions about the Cuban missile crisis. Hearing them made me shudder thinking about how close we came to a war with the Soviets. We had a tour guide, Janet, all to our selves and we had a great conversation with her.

interesting place to visit

By tcasLondon |

I have wanted to visit this library/ museum for a long time , I finally got to visit on 30/Jan / 2020 .
I travelled from my hotel near Copley Place , took about 20 minutes.
The library is a stunning building in a beautiful location, the $14 entry fee was very reasonable, as stated by other reviews due to the president’s short term in office the library is smaller compared to others but that does not take anything away from what’s inside plus the president’s achievements and impact on the US and the world.
Lots of fascinating exhibits and and items on display my favourite was the Cuban missile crisis exhibit/ video presentation.
I spent 2 hours and found it very informative and enjoyable.
There is free WiFi a cafe and a gift shop .
I recommend this as a must place to visit when you visit Boston

JFK Library is worth the trip. It was very interesting. I am fascinating with the Kennedy era and never get enough information. You do not have to love history to enjoy the library.

Learned a lot, and developed real appreciation for what was accomplished in 1000 days

By blair_reddeer |

First off, I'm not American so am a bit more detached, but I still came away with a real appreciation for how much was changed by Kennedy's presidency. Also got a much clearer understanding of how appealing he was to to so many in his time. Such a loss to the US.

Museum is full of history

By out-of-here-arizona |

This museum is on the University of Massachusetts campus, very easy to get to using public transportation. My husband and I booked the first tour of the day and spent about 3 hours in the museum. The tour starts with an introductry video about JFK, from there guests are ushered into the museum itself. The museum is well laid out, easy to navigate, signage is well written and easy to understand.

I was 8 years old when JFK was assissinated but still remember where I was and what I was doing. His assissination, which is something that should not be forgotten, was a tremendous loss to not only the USA but the world.

This museum is a must see, better than any history lesson we had in school.

Go there!!!

It's not a visit, it's a pilgrimage. It is not only done to honor the saints, but also to remember men who gave their lives for a better future than all of us. I'm not going to tell you the details. If you're in Boston, just go.

I Loved the Library and Museum.

By Elizabeth S |

We went for my husbands Birthday !! 3-4 hrs. is needed to really do lIbrary and Museum. There's also a cafe. I skipped it. Food looked great. All the films and photos were sensational. I had tears in my eyes over the history of Kennedys leadership and speaking skills. I Loved his messages and his impact on the entire world is seen. There was so much stuff going on during his time in office...... LET US BEGIN !! We are still working on his plans and in my lifetime we won't probably achieve only a fraction of his vision. He is a Catholic Irish President who lost his life in office. Incredibly horrific moment in history. Everyone I hope goes to see this amazing Library and museum. A very moving experience for me.

Fantastic Views - Historical Hues

By TouringTwoTimers |

This is the 8th Presidential Museum we have visited and, of those we have been to, this one is set in the most scenic spot overlooking Boston Harbor. The Harbor Walk that surround it is a lovely spot to stroll and enjoy the scenery. The museum, itself, highlights Kennedy's 1000 days in office and gives a nice overview of his life from his early years to his rise to the presidency using audiovisual presentations and exhibits. Although there was little information that we had not already been aware of, we felt that it served as a reminder of the 1960's when President Kennedy offered optimism and inspiration to Americans. His wit and wisdom are recreated in displays throughout the museum.

Informative and interesting

I’m so glad I was able to make it to this museum on a rainy day. I loved the set up from start to finish in chronological order. It made sense. I loved that they had clothing on display and I thought it was so cool that they had his boat docked right there for everyone to see through the window. I learned a lot about John F. Kennedy that I probably wouldn’t have known before.

Nice visit, but disappointing

By Cathi L |

The building is beautiful. And there were a lot of videos. But, we left wishing there was more actual information and were surprised by some the info that was omitted . We were also disappointed that such a large amount of the exhibit was about parties at the White House (especially seemed to be the crux of the info on Jackie).

Out of the way gem.

By Syble M |

This is not really the kind of attraction that I usually enjoy, but this was an exception. The building itself is awe inspiring. The exhibits were well done and you can move at your own pace. I really enjoyed the Jackie Kennedy exhibit with the changing wardrobe computer. Very inspiring and lots of photo ops.

The Best of Boston.

By Chris P |

This is the coolest museum I have ever been to in my life. I am a HUGE fan of JFK, so I am a little biased, but the immersive environments are truly unique and really well done. I laughed, cried, and am even inspired by all that this museum has to offer. I have gone twice and I greatly look forward to going again soon. If you are in Boston looking for something awesome to do, do this!!! It is very well priced and well worth the admission fee. Try to take one of their free public tours if you can, their guides are knowledgeable and offer so many things that the signs don’t say. If not, self-guided tours are just as fun and educational! Please go visit - you will not be disappointed.

very interesting museum, helpful employees

Just recently reopened. This is a fascinating museum, especially for anyone who is a Kennedy fan and remembers that era, as well as those interested in history and politics. The harbor views behind the library are also worth seeing. Right now, they are only allowing a limited number of people through timed entry tickets, so be sure to get your tickets in advance.

Definitely worth your time!

After flying into Boston, we were looking for something to do in the city for a few hours and had never visited a presidential library and museum. It was very informative and emotional. There was so many issues facing our country during his lifetime and I came away with such an appreciation of his dedication, drive, and hopefulness.

Great Tour of JFK Library

By Leslie S |

A trip to the JFK Library is well worth it. I was old enough to remember him. It covers his youth and his time before being president as well as his presidency and death. It is all positive without any pesky details. The location is beautiful on the bay. The tour is so well done and the docent was very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend it

Very good experience

By txtraveler47 |

Good overall, though surprised they mostly ignore the assassination (one blackened hall where they run the Walter Cronkite announcement). Enjoyed the sit down videos (intro and Cuban missile crisis). Several other artifacts are interesting but not as many as I expected (though he wasn’t president for that long). My recollection of LBJ museum from a long-ago visit was more artifacts.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Museum is a powerful and moving experience. Walking through the exhibits, you get a real sense of JFK's vision, his charisma, and the challenges he faced. The museum does an incredible job of showcasing his accomplishments and the spirit of the New Frontier. It's not just about history; it's about understanding a pivotal moment in American culture and politics. Prepare to be inspired and maybe a little emotional. Definitely worth a visit!

Well worth a visit

Went to the museum with fairly low expectations on a very rainy and windy day, but the museum was one of those rare experiences that over delivered and turned what was a grim day into an excellent one.

A well presented, extremely interesting experience that emphasises the significant contribution that JFK made to both US and Global history.

Would definitely recommend

Eye opening trip back in time.

By Dave |

The Library itself is a spectacular work of modern architecture. The library takes you from JFK's school years, early political life and up to the Presidency of the United States. You will hear his speeches and the conversations that took place regarding the Cuban Missile Crisis and how his true leadership safely guided the US out of a modern day war. Unfortunately, we will never know how great of a President he could have been and because of that the entire country missed out. If you are a history buff, this library is a must see.

Worth a visit!

By Wolfshadow |

This is a must on your visit to Boston. The amount of history to soak up during JFK's political tenure is well worth the visit. Highly recommend getting tickets ahead of time to make sure you can go through at your pace. The videos are filled with wonderful tidbits, but will extend the time of your visit. We were there at least 3 hours and could have stayed a bit more. Highly recommend!

This museum contains all the elements that make it memorable. Whether one knows a lot about JFK or a little, this museum creates an environment where each visitor can gain insights on different aspects of this President's life. Excellent exhibits, old film clips and films are available for anyone willing to take the time to listen. The subtitles for each and every film and film clip are also appreciated for better understanding and not only for the hearing impaired. Parking is easy.

Born into a life of luxury derived from a successful New England family, this man instead opted for a life of public service.

The library set along the scenic Boston harbor shoreline; chronicles the life of the immediate JFK 's generational family.

The museum docents are more than welcoming and are proud to show off and explain the many facets of the museum.

The Age of Camelot

INSPIRATIONAL

By Grantman66 |

I visited the JFK Museum with my wife and two kids on a recent trip to Boston. It was well worth the effort and honestly we could have spent a lot more time there. The museum is iconic in it's representation of the Kennedy presidency. There's plenty to see with regards to Oval office and furniture, decor, etc. as well as from other parts of JFK's life including Jacqueline Kennedy and JFK's siblings. For me it was the inspiration of what Kennedy hoped for and helped achieve during his presidency including video's, written documents, oratory, etc. The legacy that Kennedy's presidency has had on the US at large and the world is clearly on display. Regardless of a persons political views Kennedy was a leader who provided unity and gave honor to the presidency of the US. Something we seemed to have lost in recent years.

Great Information

By Julie E |

I liked this Museum and Library. There is lots of information about Kennedy's presidency and the Cuban Missile Crisis. His presidency was before my time, so I learned a lot about him and his family. This is a great museum.
There isn't a lot about his assassination here, but for that, you will want to visit the 6th Floor Museum in Dallas, Texas.

Great museum and well worth the trip!

By KMKD00 |

This was a lovely way to spend a few hours in Boston. The museum was so nicely done and told the story of JFK's life and legacy so well. I really enjoyed it. We set aside 2 hours to visit the museum and it was the perfect amount of time. The only thing I would improve would be a great selection in the gift shop!

Don't pass this up

By C L |

Worth going to - reminds us of what America is. Beautiful views, fantastic setting. Take the time to enjoy and savor the message.

Great Museum for History

By olivia |

Really enjoyed the history! The museum is wonderful! My husband loves history and this was perfect for him. A must see if you are in Boston!

An enjoyable trip back in history

By LMC |

The displays were so carefully and thoughtfully done. The darkness shown on the day of Kennedy's death was appropriate. The cafe was bright and cheery and the food was excellent and not over priced.

Absolutely amazing museum

By David C |

This was probably the top attraction that we visited during our 4 day stay in Boston. Absolutely well done, we didn't really want to leave. We took a tour that gave us some highlights, but didn't give us an opportunity to see anything in depth. After the tour, we walked through the entire museum on our own, now knowing where we wanted to stop for a more in depth look. Thoroughly enjoyed this museum and recommend it to everyone, from kids on up.

Excellent especially if you like political history

By Collarbones |

Excellent library. Really interesting & well laid out. Lots of great footage of the tv debates & key speeches. Highly recommend if you’re interested in political history. The setting is really beautiful as well looking out to the sea. It’s quite far away so worth planning your trip to visit some other places nearby to make the most of it.

Well presented and Informative

By Colin H |

We visited as tourists rather than users of the Library. The Museum part is well presented and informative. Understandably it tends to focus on the positive aspects of JFK's life and career. Even so, the displays are attractive and the archival items that are shown (films, papers, scripts and personal items) give you a good overview of this remarkable man who was so cruelly taken in the prime of his life and his presidency.

The Museum staff are helpful and we were pleased to buy some items from the shop as tangible reminders of this highly enjoyable experience.

Brilliant.

By Linda W |

This was a brilliant experience all round. Professional, informative and fascinating. We spent two hours here and enjoyed every minute.

Well done historical biography of JFK

By Tiggerstripes |

Thoroughly enjoyed the museum - great multi media experience. Our kids learned a ton and we came away feeling very proud of JFK’s leadership at this time in history. Highly recommend!

Great museum

By TranzorZ1985 |

We had free time on a business trip to Boston and decided to go to the JFK museum. It was very interesting. I learned a lot about JFK. I especially liked the section on the Cuban missile crisis. I recommend this museum.

Wonderful!

By Linda M |

Excellent Museum. Wonderful time learning about JFK's life. I would highly recommend this for older teens or adults, not necessarily for children under 14. Worth visiting & seeing his boat outside plus the view of Boston by the water is icing on the cake!

As awesome as we expected

By Jacqueline O |

Wow! just Wow! Plus very easy to get there via the T (Boston metro/subway) from the Boston Financial district.

Worth a stop

By Tcugrad |

We had tickets for 10:00 AM entry. Long line took awhile to get people checked in. Starts with a 15 minute video, very informative. Then you walk thru at your own pace. There is a second 15 minute video (optional) mid-way through. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend to others.

A must for Kennedy fans !

By germac_25 |

Wow! Such a fantastic place to visit.
Welcoming staff. Fantastic set up. Three hours well spent. Value for money..
So much to see ! A must visit if you are visiting Boston! Nice little gift shop and place to eat over looking the sea.

Inspiring and thought provoking

By Karen M |

Well worth the trip out of Boston centre. Take the red subway line and then either a 15 minute walk or a bus. The atrium alone is worth the visit. A truly inspiring museum which made me question my own contribution to society. Bonus was Freedom 7 (Alan Shepherd's capsule) on display though I believe it is on loan not part of the permanent collection. Friendly staff. Affordable cafe. The Edward Kennedy Senate site is also just next door.

A moving experience in a well-planned museum

By Ilene D |

The museum was easy to navigate and well designed. There were lots of mini-films that detailed JFk’s life, often in his own words. The experience was moving, especially for those of us who remember him if ever so slightly. as a young child. We spent about 3 hours here.

Only great if you’re big JFK fan or are nostalgic about his era.

By Gabe |

The location and building itself are beautiful. I like that they have a cafe you can eat at. I actually don’t like that they have all these projectors playing material at the same time. It’s kind of annoying. Too much overlap. It was cool to see the coconut from PT-109. Overall, I felt the exhibits were fairly trivial for the most part and serve more as family mementos rather than anything of interest to the public. It’s like the Kennedys didn’t know what to do with all the stuff Jack was given as president, so it ended up here. The tone toward JFK is worshipful, and I guess that’s to be expected, but I think it would benefited Kennedy more to a get a more nuanced treatment. After all, he was no saint. His assignation was in some ways the best thing that could have happened to him politically. It immortalized him more than anything he ever said or did, much of which was written and orchestrated by some admittedly quite talented and ambitious people around him. Speaking of assassination, the Museum’s display and discussion of 11/22/1963 is pathetic to say to least. Not one artifact from the day, and what they do show of it is so skimpy I didn’t notice it my first time through. Is it really that traumatizing to the family all these years later? I’m not expecting them to show us Jackie Kennedy’s bloody dress or display things from the crime scene, but maybe some newspapers, some personal witness testimony, or something besides Walter Mondale on four tiny iPad sized screens in darkened hallway informing the public of the president’s passing? Am I being too demanding? Maybe. See for yourself if you go.

All in all, it is true that JFK ushered in a new era in American politics and possessed plenty of charisma and class. And I am personally grateful to know of his admiration and or friendship for and with many gay writers at the time such as Gore Vidal, Truman Capote, and Mary Renault. His general tolerance and sympathy for homosexuality was quite enlightened for the time. Of course, he knew better than most what it was to live a sexual double life. Mrs. Kennedy herself owed much her artistic and architectural taste to gay friends as well. In the same way Nancy Reagan relied on gay friends for her fashion. Although none of this is mentioned in the Museum. See a book called “The Secret City” by James Kirchick for that.

Overall, it’s a Presidential library to get off the bucket list. And it definitely has some interesting stuff. The tour is self guided, so you can go at your own pace. If you’re a Kennedy fan or interested in his presidency, it’s a must.

Stunning. Do not miss.

By katjam |

Absolutely jaw dropping. If you want to remember or recapture what America was like during this period of history (and how far it has strayed from these values), do not miss this place. The hope and optimism are so evident. To have such a young, charismatic and articulate president is mind blowing, especially compared to other more recent Presidents, some of whom communicate in only 140 characters. The videos and speeches capture the era in perfect detail, including the actual devices and artifacts. I missed the Cuban Missile Crisis video to my regret. Gratefully, there was almost nothing on the assassination, because that presidency should no be defined by that event, terrible as it was. You will need atleast 90 minutes, or more, to appreciate it all, including the grounds. The gift shop is superb, as well. A very moving and thought-provoking experience.

Must see

By Teresa G |

Excellent museum beautifully curated and amazing in depth tours included with admission. AAA discount given at entrance desk. So many interactive exhibits. Don't miss this museum. The view of the harbor is picturesque. The grounds are expertly designed. An amazing building and incredible education on JFK Jr. And his family. Top notch museum including lots of actual videos and audio from his entire life. I would love to go back.

Back in history

By AmarilisVos |

We visited the museum on September 26. There is free parking on a parking lot in front of the museum. You have the possibility of going on a guided tour. You will get a "wisperer device" to put in your ear so you hear the guide when walking in the museum.
The museum can be crowded. Taking pictures is a challenge. The main focus of the museum is the election of 1960 and the realizations of his presidency.

Story of an American icon

By bonmikulka |

Not only do you get immersed in the history of the president, you get side trips into Robert Kennedy and the entire family. We spent four hours there and probably could have stayed six.

Gorgeous view of Boston

By penlady1975 |

A number of exhibits focused on Kennedy's 1960 presidential campaign, the
space program, international affairs, and Mrs. Kennedy's White House restoration project. For such a short presidential tenure, the museum offered a lot to see. Gift shop was expensive.

Fascinating museum

By Summerholiday11 |

We found this a very interesting museum. The exhibits were well presented and gave interesting insights into JFK’s life and work. Very moving.

The setting of the museum is beautiful giving great views across Boston harbour.

JFK museaum tour

By David S |

We spent about 4 1/2 hours at the museaum just seeing all the dispays and watching the short little films that play. The tour starts with his childhood life and continues on through his years as president. The short film on the Cuban Missile crisis was excellent and you hear him in his own words talking to cabinet members.

Presidential library worth visiting

By Big red mom |

The library has limited hours so be sure to check the times. Plan for 1 1/2 to 2 hours to see the library. You can purchase tickets online which makes the entrance easy. I recommend starting with the introductory film for 20 minutes . The library has lots to see and read . The movies and pictures are exceptional. The gifts to the Kennedy were fun to see and read about for all ages . The family carefully tells the story and focuses on JFK’s contribution to America which is refreshing . If weather permits, check out the sailboat and harbor . The library was a little run down needing some paint and cleaning . It was a delightful afternoon visit .

Love love loved it

By Cassie H |

As a Kennedy fanatic I needed out here. The museum is incredibly well done. I LOVE Bobby Kennedy so I was happy there were a few exhibits that touched on him. The entire museum and gift shop were well done. Bring Kleenex. The only downside was I had to take an Uber there and back.

A special place in my heart

By Pixelpanderer |

This is the first president who I voted for. The tour brought up a great deal of emotions and my sense of dismay when he was shot. His death reminded me of all the crazies that are running around our country today.

The actual library time duration is at least an hour or two at a minimum, after that it could be much longer; there is so much there to be studied.

Glad I came, but hits like a PR spot

By hrobinson1114 |

I’m a big fan of JFK and a bigger fan of Bobby Kennedy. Really, I’m an amateur Kennedy historian. I’ve wanted to come here for years.

While I am glad I came, I had to settle on four stars because I couldn’t stop comparing the museum to the FDR museum in Hyde Park, which I rated five stars. There are many reasons for this, many not under the JFK Museum’s control.

First, JFK’s term was cut tragically short. Because of this, material from his presidency is more sparse, and possibly more guarded. While FDR was President for four terms, and so much of his personal documents and belongings are accessible. For example, FDR’s actual desk is at his library, arranged exactly as he had it when he died. I felt like I was there on the day he died, almost four decades before I was born. The JFK desk, of course, is a replica, and while there are some things from his desk in view, they are in wall displays.

And while there are so many personally written documents in the FDR library, the JFK library relies on a lot of video footage, rather than documents JFK actually laid his hands on. I suppose this is fitting, even if it’s not my preference, because JFK revolutionized the presidency as it related to the media.

There was a lot of Jackie Kennedy’s fashionable outfits, many furnishings and pieces of art. But I don’t feel like I really got to know Jackie the way I got to know Eleanor Roosevelt at the FDR site. I mean, they had the contents of her wallet from the day she died!

Maybe this also has to do with the fact the Kennedy family is so large and so many are still living, and Jackie was living much more recently than Eleanor.

My favorite part of the museum was the attorney general’s office. Again, I love Bobby Kennedy, and I felt really close to him here. His desk did have contents on it, as he would have had them. Family photos. Drawings from his kids. His diplomas.

The JFK administration always strove for the “Camelot” narrative. And then of course the details of his assassination have been kept murky. Possibly because of this, the JFK museum felt academic, felt like a public relations exercise.

Again, still love the Kennedys and so glad to have come here. And maybe because I already knew so much about them, my view is skewed. But I didn’t leave here feeling like I knew them any better, or feeling any closer to them. When I left the FDR museum, I left there and felt I knew them more intimately, and thought about FDR and Eleanor for days after.

Want inspiration and hope for a better tomorrow? Visit the library.

By Headedwestboy |

On our first afternoon in Boston, we decided to visit the library. Easy to get to on the subway, the library is a walk through the life, presidential years and philosophy/leadership of JFK. When we left, we were inspired again by the civility, compassion, strength of character and patriotism of JFK. Plan for at least 2 hours.

Informative museum

By Marissa E |

This is a great museum with an introductory video of the life of JFK. The artifacts were a great addition to walk through as well

Great place to see JFK’s items and learn.

By Suzanne S |

This museum is beautiful, has amazing exhibits that include artifacts, and is large so it is very easy to move around in it, even if a person requires a wheelchair or scooter. The staff, even security guards, are friendly. The cafe is a great place to stop for lunch and was the least expensive meal that I purchased in Boston.
We took a. uber from the North End instead of trying to navigate the bus system. Afterward, we walked across the street to the Commonwealth Museum which is free and WONDERFUL for children. It’s interactive and has great exhibits.

Educational and nostalgic experience

By Colleen O |

It was a rainy and windy day in Boston. Great place to go and get out of the weather. We hopped on the train and bus and found it easily .

We loved the videos of the political life of JFK. We were very young when he was president so it was a good chance to review history. This was a trip highlight..

A true treasure!

By Nic H |

As a JFK history nerd this was an amazing place to finally visit. I even got to leave with my own coconut (if you know you know). The dedication to his history from childhood to his last day in office was fabulous and detailed. Thank you to the staff for taking such good care of his legacy. It is my hope that some of the exhibits are repaired (the descriptors are missing vinyl or words) but it’s few and far between. His sailboat is even on display outside.

Very Moving

By Jane D |

I loved the different areas and how they were set up like rooms in the white house. Each room has a different theme from his life. I also loved the campaign area. It felt like you were taken back in time! The movies with his children was very nice to see as well and brought tears to my eyes. You need to see this on your trip. It takes time to get there if you are using transportation, but it is worth it!

World Class

By BJJT |

This is a world class museum that highlights Kennedy growing up through his years as President and his death in Dallas. They focus on only positive aspects of his life. There were some great displays and artifacts. It is in a beautiful location. I would definitely recommend this for a half day visit.

Recent Visit to John F .Kennedy Presidential Museum

By Sundaram R |

This presidential Museum gives a full picture of the great personality-John F Kennedy.every aspect of his life-early age to his end.his presidential compaign/speeches a revelation.his interaction with world personalities has been nicely depicted
His mature handling of Cuban crisis is well exhibited.
The museum is nicely located with picturesque background. It is also very well maintained. It is not a place to be missed in Boston

Very helpful staff! Clean toliets. Very spacious space with lovely artwork. Beautiful views around a big room. Definley coming again. Easy transport 10/10

Excellent Day

By ejj1965 |

Very informative, with excellent well done exhibits. The museum has been kept in excellent condition. We went before lunch and the crowds were very light. We all learned some new information and enjoyed the day. The museum is set on it’s beautiful shore location.

Very conservative...

By Chovinsky |

Great exhibition with all the artifacts and film clips you'd expect from such a special place ...but you wish it was more oriented and/or designed to attract young people so JFK's approach to political life and goals could be shared by oncoming generations.

Very Well Done

By Fred P |

I visited the JFK presidential library & museum with my Harvard Business School class reunion. I was extremely well done and a very enjoyable experience which helped me to relive those years with JFK in the 1960s. I would go back again when I visit Boston.

Nice way to spend a few hours

By cmprior999 |

Great location, right on the water. so pretty. Nicely done musuem honoring President and Mrs Kennedy. Informative movies and displays. We were lucky to get free admission on the day we went because it was the 40th anniversary. From Boston, take the Red line subway south to the JFK stop and there is a free shuttle bus from there to the musuem. Super easy.

Lightweight

By JJKFETP |

This is not a "bad" museum, but it doesn't stack up well against the other presidential museums I've visited. There is one brief room about "Young Jack", as in his entire life before 1960, and then you get highlights of what one would likely already know. I expected to learn more about how he evolved from teen to young adult to senator to president, but there is almost nothing about his early political career. Instead of grounding the visitor in the issues of America during Kennedy's lifetime and how he viewed them/addressed them, there is a fairly cursory walk through key events and little more. Perhaps the family did not want too much to be shared/revealed, but whatever the reason(s) for it, the lack of substantive information was disappointing.

Bonus: there are multiple people around to do a highlights tour or to answer questions. Also the views from the café and the grounds are excellent.

Dignity

By JBPortland |

The dignity of the presidency is on display, a dignity that we seem to be losing. The quotes from JFK's speeches are there along with video clips. A bonus was a Hemingway exhibit lining a hallway leading to a men's restroom.

Kennedy museum

By Judy F |

I was impressed with this museum. It was educational and interesting. The exhibits were well done and the short films were informative.

Lovely location and tons of knowledge to be gained

By Alesha |

I came in from Hyannis port one day, not knowing what I really wanted to do. Before I knew it, I asked my driver to bring me to the library. It was such beauty when I arrived, lots of surrounding trees, a staircase that sparked my curiosity. I went down to look, only to see what would have made him proud, the Boston harbor. That, with enough history of its own. While walking through the library. You are guaranteed to have emotions, some of which, are fits of laughter. Other will bring you to tears. It’s a journey from birth-death walk. Each room guides you to the next.

Loved it!

By handif |

What a great day of learning, from the sailing dinghy to more detail on the Cuban Missile Crisis. He did have a short tenure before the assassination, but what a lot to learn here. Family, international trips and his strong social and political stance. Boston Tourism doesn’t seem to publicise this place enough. Do not miss it if you like to join some more historical dots, in such an engaging interesting way.

So inspirational!

By Joyce G |

The JFK Library and Museum is so inspirational and provided so many examples of jFK’s impact on our country. Truly a must to visit for anyone interested in the history of the US.

Inspiring and educational visit.

By CarolandRon738 |

Although the library is a little way out of town, it is very easy to get to with the connecting free shuttle bus from the train station. We are so glad that we made the effort to go there, as the visit led us through a poignant yet uplifting journey through the life of John F Kennedy and his family and reminded us of a bygone era of inspirational politics. The building itself is architecturally stunning with wonderful views over the water. Inside there are lots of films and videos of JFK's most famous speeches and the many events surrounding his presidency but there are also many other exhibits, including some of Jackie Kennedy's dresses, which offer a wealth of information. You can therefore go through the library reasonably quickly or meander at a slow pace savouring every detail. Whichever way you choose, it will be a worthwhile visit.

Worth the time if you have an extra day

By Mike D |

Interesting and appropriate for our times. i know the presidential libraries will be the best presentation of the President but would prefer a more honest look at the good, bad and ugly. We were just getting to the point where we don't have to worship these great men but can appreciate their accomplishments with their faults. Price drops from $18 to $5 at 2:45. I would recommend checking the time of the last movie (3:15 now) and going at 2:45, visiting for 30 minutes, catch the movie and visit more for 30 minutes until it closes at 4PM. it is a 1.2 mile walk from the T so factor that in. Would have gotten a 5 if the person at the desk was a little friendlier.

Impressive!

By StephenInWSeattle |

Excellent History Lesson with so much information about JFK and Jacqueline including so much information about their families and their lives before and after their time in the White House. Both were intelligent and focused on making the world a better place.
JFK challenged the nation to do more to use their talents to help others at home and abroad. He focused on never achieved goals that continue to be legacy focused items today. (Civil Rights, Peace Corps, NASA, Arts & Culture)
Impressive, interesting and thought provoking. What would our nation be like, today, if every President encouraged all Americans to “ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.”

Professional, well-organized museum!

By dustythoughts |

This superb museum is an worthy honor to JFK's legacy and memory! All of the exhibits, from the films to the artefacts, were well-researched and well-preserved, and there was plenty of information on each exhibit we saw. They also had exhibits on JFK's family, such as Jackie Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy, which I found fascinating. I liked the exhibit on the space program! The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable.

American History

By JLJTiverton |

I had wanted to visit for a long time and I'm so glad I did. The experience was very moving. I felt like we were brought back in time and were able to share in some of the experiences of the amazing president. This is a must see piece of American history.

Amazing presentation.

By belleamore |

We had a wonderful day at the JFK Library. The exhibits were well done, the place was safe and clean and the people/staff were very helpful.

Really Interesting

By Rebecca2528 |

Visited the museum in December 2019 and was far more than I expected. Was expecting a couple of personal belongings but was completely shocked at how large the museum was with multiple videos to watch, sets to walk through and a large amount of personal belongings. Really educational and interesting and in a lovely location too, slightly out of the way for tourists though was a bit of a nightmare to get to.

By Robbert L |

We enjoyed this very much. Beautifully located on the water. Spacious. A small tour through history. Surprised by the election map of 1960. Adocating civil rights, implemented by Johnson. Views of his youth and tour through Europe in 1938/39. Worth visiting this library of one of the US' most mythical Presidents.

Blast into the past

By Mandy M |

The JFK museum was an enjoyable and educational visit. I especially found the political map of the JFK vs Nixon election eyeopening compared to today's environment. This coming from a non political person. It was a much appreciated blast into the past. And I loved the content on Jackie including some of her ballgowns!

Slightly Disappointed

By Shellie A |

We felt there could have been more artifacts and the information presented felt abbreviated. Many of the information and photos presented were things we had all seen previously. We were hoping for new artifacts and information.
It also would have been nice to have benches to rest and be able to reflect on.

Really interesting, not easy to get to or into

By katethax |

First off, I’ll warn you to get tickets ASAP if you plan on going because they are limited right now due to COVID and go fast, especially when large tour groups buy in bulk. However, my aunt called frequently to check if tickets had become available and the staff eventually called her to say that they had some become available! They were great and went out of their way to help us get in when we would be in town. I can’t speak highly enough of them. Secondly, it is not terribly easy to get to if you don’t have a car in the city. You have to take the Red line train from downtown and then get on a shuttle bus. It really isn’t walkable from the train. It wasn’t too hard for us, but I can see where it might get confusing for someone who isn’t used to navigating public transit. The museum itself was very informative and interesting. I learned a lot and really enjoyed looking at the artifacts. The interactive exhibits and videos aren’t all up and running yet due to COVID, but it was still interesting. It took us about 2 hours to go through the whole museum and watch the video at the beginning.

Worth a visit if you're in Boston !

By Hope Susan B |

Visiting the Kennedy Library has inspired us to try to visit all 14 (?) Presidential Libraries around the country. So far I've only been to the Roosevelt Library in Hyde Park. But Clinton's in Little Rock or Nixon's in CA or Reagan's in CA may be next?

JFK Museum Well Done

By Joyce C |

Beautiful location on the bay with outside waterfront path and picnic are.
Displays and several short films were interesting and informative. Don't miss seeing JFK's sailboat outside by the bay.

Amazing History

By James C |

The wife and I went here and if only JFK was still President, what he could have done. So much history and things accomplished in a 3 year period. AAn amazing man was great firesight. His brother also accomplished so much while in office. This is a great place to see.

History at your fingertips

By AS6016 |

To have a complete museum experience, one should go on a docent tour. Our experience came to life with our docent, wishing we could remember his name! He knew the complete family history and the nuisances of the Kennedy clan. The short videos are a must-see, but the cafe is not.

Interesting, But

By ThoughtsofRS |

The JFK library feel quite modern for a museum nearing fifty.
It’s very clean feeling with lots of space and the nearby water adds to the view, although we were there on a rainy day.
The only negative is that it is in Boston, doesn’t feel close to anything, and it is a hike to the nearest bus stops.
Would recommend but if traveling with someone that has trouble getting around, keep in mind that getting there won’t be easy.

Worth visiting if you’re a JFK or political enthusiast

By jaimeelsabio |

I went because my wife wanted to go. The introductory movie was good as was the one dealing with the Cuban missile crisis. There were enough exhibits to occupy 1.5-2 hours. My two favorite exhibits were the coconut he carved on after his PT boat was sunk and the piece of the Berlin Wall. There is a small cafeteria we ate at afterwards.

Wish could give higher rating

By mrjonesii |

One of the places I was looking forward to visiting yet I got the least satisfaction. The building is beautiful. The location perfect. Great customer service but in comparison to other presidential museums this one had me wanting more. I did learn a few things. Parking was free the day we went. You can see downtown Boston looking over the harbor. Looks like a nice area to walk. Would’ve done so if we had time. Also a nice area to picnic. We’ve done so if we knew to plan.

Great few hours for Children of the 60's.

By jberk99 |

Been to Boston many times, but this was our first visit to the Library. We were on a cruise stop and spent the morning here. A quick Uber from the Port and you're there. Enjoyable films and exhibits. Well worth the visit. JFK will always be in the back of our minds.

Beautiful building and view, but library lacked.....

By juicee000 |

Beautiful building and view of the Bay was gorgeous. But was surprised at the lack of items in the JFK library compared to other President's... At least the movie in the beginning of the tour gave us some insight. very small exhibits for such a big beautiful building.

JFK Presidential Museum Brings Emotional Response to Visitor

By swoodruf |

Our flight was cancelled last Sunday after spending five days there with my granddaughter. We got put on a much later flight, so we decided to go to the JFK Presidential Museum as it was something we wanted to do, but had not had the time yet. The grounds are quite beautiful. It just seemed peaceful. There is a walk near the water where you can see JFK's sailboat and can also see the beautiful skyline of Boston from the other side of the bay. To enter was relatively inexpensive. We first sat and watched the introductory 20 minute film which covered the highlights of his life. I had just finished reading a book about the Kennedy's, and I hadn't realized that JFK had been in tremendous back pain for years after his accident in WWII and a botched surgery. I didn't feel like that was stressed much in the movie. We then went to the exhibits. It is really beautifully done and so reminiscent. I was in upper elementary school when Kennedy ran for president in 1960, and I remember so clearly the Bay of Pigs incident. We watched the video on that as well which was quite enlightening. I was surprised at how emotional I got in the museum. It dredged up a lot of memories for me. I think it is a definite must-see while in Boston.
