We really enjoyed the grounds and discovering all the gardens. My favorite garden is one directly in front of the house. There is a kid play center with books and toys. Don't miss the conservatory.

Good trip. We arrived at approximately 3 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the gardens. After paying the admission fee, we went on our way. We opted to view Kingwood Hall first, which was a mansion located at the center of the garden. The mansion was open for self guided tours. There was an employee located at the entrance of the mansion, that gave us a quick overview of the house and the family that once lived in it. There were informational plaques located in front of each room, that detailed what we were seeing in front of us. After viewing the mansion, we went on to explore the rest of the gardens. The property was very nicely maintained and there were plenty of different flowers and trees to look at. There were several water fountain features on the property, as well as a greenhouse with some desert themed plants. The garden had several restrooms, along with benches to sit on and enjoy the scenery.
Tip: I recommend spending 1.5 hours here if you truly want to see everything.

Visited Kingwood Center Gardens on April 2, 2016. May have been a little too early in the season to 100% appreciate all it has to offer. To get the most out of this visit you should visit in May or June when all the flowers and trees are blooming not to mention the Kingwood Hall was not open to the public for the year yet. There are rose gardens and herb gardens to tour and beautiful fountains but none of them were operational as it was too early in the season. The cost is only $5.00 to park. There is a big pond with ducks and geese and peacocks wandering the grounds. They also have a garden shop with plants and flowers you can purchase. Next time we'll visit closer to the summer. Very worth the visit.

Ever since my husband and I found this, we come back every season. Suggestion this to all the gardeners we know and they all love it. Have taken our children and grandchildren here so they could feed the ducks. The greenhouses are to die for and the grounds alone are worth walking. Finally got around to writing a review for the beautiful place.

Wonderful gardens at the bargain price of $5.00 a car.Nice size that even people in our party that had trouble walking could manage.Sweet duck pond for children. Can not wait to visit in the spring during tulips.

We recently visited Kingwood Center and took photos here of my daughter, her date, and their friends for their high school prom. The grounds are always beautiful and well cared for. There is a $5/car charge to visit Kingwood, to help upkeep the property. The spring flowers are great, even though they weren't fully bloomed when we were there because of the weather's unpredictability this year. You will find beautiful flowers, trees, fountains and architecture. Keep an eye out for the resident peacock who often makes an appearance! The entire property is a great back-drop for formal photos or for some fun, casual family photos.

Very quiet and peaceful. September is certainly the best time to go. Check out thee greenhouses.
Lots of different special artistic planting areas.

A group of friends and I recently visited this place and LOVED IT! Admission is charged by the car load, so all 4 of us got in for only $5 for my whole car. Larger vehicles have larger charges.
Some quick tips...
*Tours of the house are run at specific times. Call ahead to find out if they are offering tours, and when. You will have to buy tickets.
*Lots of areas to sit and relax.
*Bring lots of change, there are food dispensers for you to feed the ducks and PEACOCKS.
We will be back. The staff told us to come out during Autumn and Christmas.

Flowers are great! I attended a wedding there last year and it was beautiful!

Kingwood is a quitr geen oasis in the middle of an urban environment. It is an important green space in Mansfield. Lt Impressive Gardens and venue.

It is just simply beautiful! The gardens are immaculate. I love the green house with the exotic plants. I also love the pond with all the frogs in it, and the ducks, and the peacocks walking around. What a wonderful way to spend the day!

Finally made it to see the big bugs. Really enjoyed them and like that they are doing these types of exhibits now. Also got a glimpse of the upcoming changes and updates. Jury is still out but hoping for the best.

The garden are beautiful with easy to walk paths. Very knowledgeable staff and volunteers. It was a very peaceful afternoon.

Wow!!!! Beautiful, simply beautiful. So much to do here - the gardens, greenhouse, trails, the mansion of Charles King estate - a peaceful spot. This is a wonderful day trip and we had a very informative docent who led our tour. You will want to return!!! We were even able to observe a beautiful bride having pictures taken.

Always beautiful Kingwood center in Mansfield Ohio. They have the house and exterior all decorated for Christmas and it's very pretty. There is another building full of decorated Christmas trees done by various businesses from around the community. And there is outside light displays.

I return each spring when the tulips are in bloom for a wonderful stroll through this amazing garden and greenhouse. It is restful, beautiful, inspiring, a haven of peace. Can't recommend it highly enough!

I've been going to Kingwood since I was a little girl. My parents would take me there to feed the ducks, look at the pretty flowers, and view the wildlife. My favorite were the beautiful peacocks! It used to be free, but now to help upkeep the grounds they charge a small entrance fee, I believe $5 per car load. In college I used the library to check out a few books for my Plant Biology class. They also have a gift shop in the Mansion. They have a green house that you can buy flowers/plants at. At Christmas time I believe they put lights up to decorate. Lots of people have high school prom pics taken there, and wedding pics. We had our family pics done there and we hired a private photographer. Lots of places to stroll and get lost in the day. Beautiful fountains and amazing flowers! If you've never been here you should give it a try!

So much to see and always so much in bloom. The spring bulbs in bloom are a show stopper. BEAUTIFUL. Always something new to see. If you need ideas for your garden this is a must see. Be sure to take pen and paper to jot down all those must have plant names.

These gardens are beautiful! And such a peaceful place to visit right in the city.
There are brick and concrete walking paths that accommodate wheelchairs and strollers nicely.
You will see many diverse flower beds of annuals and perennials, a big variety of trees, and plants. The gardens are maintained expertly and creatively designed. Fountains and statues add to the beauty. There is a large natural pond on location, as well as a large concrete pond with ducks, peacocks, and other fowl. Bring a quarter to feed the ducks.
Enjoy two greenhouses and the historic home of Charles King, which you can tour. Events are held throughout most of the year, but the Center does close after Christmas for a few winter months.
They are currently restoring the Carriage House. There are indoor bathrooms on site as well as picnic tables and chairs. Plants are sold here, and this is also a venue for weddings.
These gardens are the perfect place for photo opportunities!

My family gets a membership here each year and we enjoy all the out of doors adventures you can do there. The flowers are exquisite and the activities from kids abound around holidays. Halloween time has the pumpkin glow.

I have two small children and was looking for a family-friendly place to meet up with grandma and grandpa. We live in Cleveland, grandma and grandpa in Columbus. We decided on Kingwood. It's affordable: $5 per car. Parking is very close so it's good for those with disabilities. Signage was perfect and we were able to find the center without any issues. There are plenty of outdoor tables to eat lunch and areas for the kids to play. We brought a bouncy ball and had room to play kickball on the grass. The peacock had lunch with us, which was memorable! Restrooms are close and accessible. The grounds are beautiful and everything is very walkable, for young and older. No major stairs. The plants are gorgeous and everything is very well tended. Duck food is $0.25 so we were able to feed the ducks something that is intended for ducks (not bread or crackers from home. I am sensitive to not feeding animals "people food.") The only thing I'd watch for is the littlest visitors need to be careful around the duck pond since there is not a barrier around it. But if you're watching your children, you'll be fine.
We didn't do the tour but I'd love to come back and do it someday when the kiddos are older. All in all, a beautiful place and your visit will be a treasured memory.

This is a must-see attraction in Mansfield, and a bargain at only $5 per car. I recently stopped by with family after several years, and the beautiful gardens evoked quite a bit of childhood nostalgia. I love all the details of the property--the fountains, duck pond, architecture, statues, and blossoms. My only disappointment was that we did not spot or even hear any peacocks this visit--something to look forward to for next time. My mom has a membership. Anyone who lives in the Mansfield area should join!

Recently in the area for a summer camping trip. We made a bit of a day trip from the Mohican State Park area to visit Kingwood. I had been on their website beforehand, and signed up the two little ones with us for the story-time series they had the morning of our visit. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find we received free admission because we were signed up for the story-time program.
The kids programming was really cute – they had a story and then did a paper-craft. It was nice for them to kind of mingle with other kids for a bit.
We also discovered we were visiting during a special Lego sculptures exhibit – we highly recommended you check that out before its gone (runs til Sept 17 2023) . Basically, there are these huge amazingly detailed Lego sculptures almost hidden around the grounds. We kind of toured the whole grounds as if we were doing a scavenger hunt for the Lego sculptures. The kids got a kick out of finding them, but so did the adults.
The grounds were beautiful too – lots of flowers in bloom, pretty fountains, roaming peacocks.
Very impressed with the café as well. They had lots of pre-packaged snack options, my 4-year old was delighted to basically eat a meal of pepperonis, cheese stick, and a hummus cup lol. But also they have great sandwiches – I loved the turkey and blackberry one. The other adult in our group who ate lunch here said the adult grilled cheese was lovely as well. There were little chocolate mouse-cake cups we had for a lunch dessert as well which were phenomenal.
We did look through the house – didn’t seem like they were offering any guided tours while we were there. So we did a quick self-guided trip through. Half of the upstairs seemed to be closed off, I think for renovations, so that was a little disappointing. The house is neat though I would have preferred a tour I think, with some context and information about what we were looking at.
All in all, a really fantastic way to spend a day.

This was an enjoyable place to visit in Mansfield Ohio. The grounds are very well kept up, the place is absolutely beautiful!

Even though you now have to pay for parking, the entrance fee is minimal and the gardens are peaceful, beautiful and worth it. The butterfly garden is my favorite in deep summer. The peacocks and swans walk the gardens and enjoy standing near human visitors for beautiful pictutes. The duck pond is a favorite also. Take time to go to the indoor areas too. They are special!

We toured the gardens and the estate on a Saturday morning right after opening. The gardens are immaculately kept and the mansion was interesting to see. We were there about two hours but could have easily stayed longer if we didn’t have tickets already for another attraction that afternoon. Well worth the visit and very affordable!

My husband and I stopped here on our way to a B&B in Millersburg. The grounds were lovely and well cared for. We enjoyed walking through the plant sale area. We probably would've purchased a sensitive plant and ornamental peppers had we been closer to home! They were fascinating. It isn't huge, but for $5 we felt very pleased with our visit. We stayed for about an hour and walked at least 75% of the trails (although we were on a schedule so we might have walked a bit quicker than some). If we'd had our kids with us, I think that they would have enjoyed it as well. Being that it is not as large as some gardens they could've walked most of it and enjoyed the variety of plants. (The apple tree was one of my favorites.) Some trails have stairs that might make it difficult for strollers or wheelchairs, but I am guessing that other trails would bypass the stairs. We recommend this to anyone passing through, especially on your way into Amish country from the west.

Best 5 bucks you'll ever spend. We are from Ohio but never have visited this area and planned a getaway for a few days. While in town to tour the historical prison we had found a few things in the area to do before heading elsewhere.
The cost of entry was 5 dollars a car .. if you buy something at the greenhouse they take that 5 off your bill of 25 or more.. We were not heading home so didn't purchase anything but there was a lot I really liked.
We had read about this beautiful garden and it sounded interesting but I was very pleasantly surprised at the size and elegance of this park. We'd hoped to see the spring flowers (tulips ect) in bloom but apparently Mid May is too late. We were not disappointed for long ... lots here to see. Duck pond. Lots of plants all shades of spring green ... the peonies, ferns, many types of hostas. All of those are lovely but the rhododendrons were my favorite. Lots of mature trees and birds singing ... great place to Stroll or read a book on a bench or bird watch. There are fountains, sculpture, benches and seating, various types of gardens. Just beautiful! There's a magnificent huge house (mansion) that I guess you can book for weddings that looks like something from the show Downton Abbey. The greenhouse had plants for display and others for sale. This peaceful elegant park was a pleasure to visit. I fully intend to return and hope to come in april to see the tulips.

Kingwood is one of those small-town wonders that you have to seek out. Beautiful mansion and gardens, now a public space. The gardens are manicured to perfection with seasonal changes to the flowered landscape. The staff is always friendly and willing to share ideas for gardening. They have a really great greenhouse shop to purchase perennials and herbs.

Beautiful gardens and a stately home in Mansfield, Ohio. Our recent visit on a warm spring day was delightful! The flowers were in full bloom. The walk through the various gardens was very peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed a tour of the estate home as well. The day was topped off by a delicious lunch at the small café on the premises. We sat on their outdoor patio and enjoyed the sunshine and the surroundings. All this for the admission price of $5! A bargain to say the least. We highly recommend a the trip.

Went on Wednesday afternoon and unfortunately the house was closed (closed that day at 2:00- seems kind of early!). The gardens were fantastic. So many colors and varieties to view and extremely well maintained. The grounds staff here is top notch! Also has paths through wooded areas. A very peaceful spot.

We spent a couple of hours here "getting lost" with little and big kids. It's just a wonderful sanctuary - full of flowers, formal gardens, green houses, places to run around or just sit. For $5 per car, a really perfect way to be together. (We didn't even feel the need to go inside the house.)

I visited Kingwood Gardens with a bus group. We were looking forward to seeing the tulips in bloom; but unfortunately the tulips were done blooming and most of them have been pulled. They have replaced some of the beds with pansies which were pretty.
We did a 1-hour tour of the mansion. The person who lead our group was very knowledgeable and told some interesting stories. But our group of 25 people was too big and should have been cut into 2 groups. The people in the back couldn't hear our guide or even get inside some of the rooms.
There is a small cafe where you can buy food. It is only staffed with two people, so plan on a long wait.
We enjoyed the green houses which housed cactuses, banana trees, and exotic flowers. The peacocks wandering the grounds were also a highlight for us. They were beautiful.

Such a disappointment from what it used to be. It's unkempt and too commercialized. Unfortunately, the "upgrades" didn't improve the grounds. I wish we had Kingwood Center back and not Kingwood Gardens.

A hidden gem. The house is interesting but there is not a lot to see on the brief "tour." The gardens, however, are amazing. Lots of wandering paths through all different garden styles. Everything seemed to be in peak bloom and most of the plants are marked so you can figure out what's what. At only $5 for a carload of people, it was quite the bargain too. A memorable visit.

Stopped by Kingwood Center Gardens for the first time this year to see the Ribbit the Exhibit collection of giant copper frogs. 18 sculptures tucked around the gardens. The sculptured were fun and whimsical and the gardens were in their full glory.

Visited the home at Kingwood to see the beautiful decorated home and get in the holiday mood. It is absolutely gorgeous and changes from year to year - always a fresh decor - love it!

Beautiful place for a wedding. Gorgeous manicured garden and outdoor space. I did not get a chance to see the entire area as we were there for a wedding. Wedding and cocktail area was outside and wedding was held indoors.

My daughter and sister-in-law walked the grounds of Kingwood Center on July 22, 2013. Our cost was $5 for the car and we could be rebated the $5 if we spend $25 in the gift shop. Although is was 86 degrees, it was easy to find shade. The organization of the different gardens, the carefully placed colors of plants, and the paths were well planned. Much care is given to the beds. A male peacock met us in the parking lot, and we were told by the parking attendant a baby peacock could be found, though we did not see the baby. Take crackers incase you coe across the birds! There are beautiful areas to host a wedding. The gift shop had great specimens for sale. The rose garden didn't have much blooms.

An absolutely gorgeous mansion, well kept and roomey, plenty of space to walk around and see the period pieces. Well manicured grounds and lovely floral.

Wonderful place to take a walk. The gardens are beautiful! There is usually something going in; weddings and wedding pics, people taking prom pics, etc. The peacocks love the attention and the fountain tadpoles are a great attention better for the kids. Locals spend a lot of time walking and exploring the flowers and fauna. Great place to walk off your lunch!

We went here as an impromptu visit. It was warm, but that didn't matter. The flowers were in full bloom and gorgeous, and well maintained. We toured the house, as well. Very nicely kept and the attendant was helpful.

Kingwood Center gardens used to be immaculate. Now they look unkept, weedy, wilted, poorly maintained. Not sure if it's the Covid employment issue, but we were VERY disappointed. Especially after paying eight dollars per person to get in.
Have some pride. Find some new gardeners. There were weeds everywhere, and the upper gardens were horrible.

Beautiful, serene gardens. Enjoyed everything that was in bloom.

The flowers were beautiful; the fountains were relaxing. The pathways were paved and easy to follow. The tour of the house was interesting, just be prepared to stand for awhile between moving through the rooms.

Great place to stroll and enjoy beautiful well planned gardens. Reasonable $5 per car entry. Also a greenhouse where plants can be purchased.

My husband and I went to Kingwood Center where we had a maternity photo shoot done. There were a lot of beautiful areas to take photos, and the place was kept very clean. We had a wonderful experience!

Kingwood is one place we always take visitors-so relaxing to walk thru the beautiful property--the lake- flower gardens - greenhouse....

The area is peaceful, the landscaping is beautiful and the mansion is really neat on the outside (we did not get the opportunity to see the inside as they were not offering tours the day we visited). We were there for approximately two hours and really enjoyed our time outdoors walking though the gardens and seeing all of the beautiful landscaping.

It's a beautiful place to visit and I encourage everybody to check it out. My wife and I actually had our wedding photos taken here as well as our prom photos. From its location in Mansfield you wouldn't even realize its there. They do charge an entry fee now, its not expensive, but I'm not sure I agree with it. When I went with my family as a kid it was free and think that's they way it should.

Nice property, huge garden well maintained with a lot of flowers. It’s absolutely recommended if you are in the area.

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The new fees are well worth it.

We live close and have been a couple of times. Some seasons are prettier than others. But it's always a nice visit. Keep and eye out for the peacocks. They are beautiful.

My husband and I ventured from NE Ohio to view the gardens and home on the property in Mansfield. We were celebrating our 41st anniversary! We had packed a light picnic and enjoyed it on the way down to the property.
I was able to purchase a beautiful hydrangea to be planted at home in honor of our anniversary at the greenhouse.
After a self-guided tour, we met Sheila in the office on the 2nd floor. She gave us a great idea to expand our trip to see and ride “the carousel” in downtown Mansfield. Just a few minutes drive from Kingwood. We also asked Sheila for restaurant recommendations and she even offered to make our reservation at Skyway East!! Thank you, for your wonderful hospitable service, Sheila!! The restaurant was fantastic! And with special surprises for our anniversary, too!❤️
Thank you, Holly for your help in the greenhouse!

I have always loved this place for its beautiful architecture and gardens and now it is open for weddings! What a magical place for a fairy tale wedding!! The Pumpkin Glow in October is spectacular and entertaining for all ages! The Christmas holiday decorations in the big house is also something not to miss! This place is a true Mansfield treasure any time of the year!!!

Beautifully stunning! This is truly a little gem in the city. The mansion is gorgeous and the grounds are superb. As you stroll around the grounds and visit the stable and greenhouse areas then feed the ducks in the pond, you can forget about all your worries

These gardens were beautiful. The grounds were cleaning. This place was not on our original itinerary, and I am so glad we went. I would highly recommend visiting.

The park is really pretty and well kept, it’s definitely a spot to take nice pictures at with family.

This is a flower gardener's paradise. Seasonal flowers fill multitudes of beds. It is best to check when each seasonal change is made. There is minimal charge to get in and I believe a season pass is available. Many photographers do senior pictures at this gorgeous location! Well worth a visit!

We came here on a whim and stayed all day just wandering the grounds and mansion. I have been to many botanical gardens and this is a stunning example. It is clear that the people taking care of the garden really love what they are doing. We loved the current exhibit which made walking around the garden into a game. We were also blessed to see a hummingbird clearwing moth. Two huge thumbs up!!

We've gone to Kingwood several times for prom photos and family photos. We've been taking our two daughters here for over 20 years and there's always something new and beautiful to see. The holidays at Kingwood are gorgeous and they do a pumpkin glow at Halloween that's a lot of fun! The have spring bulb sales and be sure to watch for the resident peacocks - they're not usually shy.

For only $5. admission (per guest) you can stroll these beautiful, well-kept gardens. The low admission price keeps large crowds of freeloaders out yet lets out of town visitors enjoy these gardens without blowing their budget. If you have a R.A.P. Garden membership to a garden more than 90 miles away (like mine), you can visit here for free.
I really enjoyed the "secret garden" spaces off to the side with the nice shady spaces to sit on the benches and relax on a hot summer day.

We make it a point to come here atleast 2 times a year. It's just so peaceful and beautiful with all the blooming flowers and peacocks wandering around. And the main house is just so grande

I adore this place. We have been going here for years. Christmas is awesome, they open the house and there so many decorated Christmas trees. They are breathtaking, then you can if you want, walk the grounds. We walk the grounds every season, we come once a month in the spring and summer, just to see what is blooming and then we come in the fall and winter. A place we highly recommend. They also have a plant room to purchase plants and their greenhouses are fantastic.

It's a small place but very pleasant and quiet. Really good place to read a book. However, as a tourist destination requiring admission, not so much and gets really warm during those summer months. There is self tour of mansion and botantical gardens everywhere but not really for me since I'm looking for something more interesting.

SO we visited Kingwood to see the hall and grounds decorated for Christmas. The hall was great as usual with the giant tree by the staircase decorated with birds and birdhouses and families all getting their pictures taken near it. The grounds look more and more impressive every year with the colored light trees ans all, Hope they continue to add every year.

Wonderful gardens and a chance to wander on your own thru the acres. We toured the house without a guide altho there is a docent available to answer any questions. The Greenhouse was amazing and you are able to buy plants if you like. It was my second time there and I would still go again my next trip to Mansfield.

Entrance fee was $5.00 and worth the walk around the grounds:) Flowers were beautiful, great variety:) Really enjoyed the cactus greenhouse:) They have a small food cafe and gift shop:)

It’s such a beautiful place to visit around Christmas. We went in the evening and this place amazed everyone. The mansion and grounds were incredibly decorated with Christmas lights and trees. The staff were very friendly and the walk through the mansion was stunning! Every room throughout the mansion was decorated by Christmas themed movies. The first two floors were self-guided (3rd floor was closed to the public). It would be very interesting to take a guided tour. Can’t wait to come back and see this place in the summer!

I have been visiting Kingwood since I was a small child and now I bring my children. It is a beautiful and welcoming place. The plants and flowers are gorgeous. The house is a historic mansion and especially beautiful during Christmas. Definitely a Mansfield must-see location.

The trees and gardens change through all the seasons and we stop almost weekly to check on what is blooming. Special exhibits and shows add to the attraction. You MUST take your camera to try to capture the beauty of architecture combined with trees, plants, peacocks and various waterfowl.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Easy walking for everyone, even those with walkers and wheelchairs. Tour Kingwood hall and the gardens. Both absolutely gorgeous. We sat next to the pond and fed the ducks for a bit. We saw several peacocks wondering around. There is a greenhouse where you can purchase plants and other garden items. $5 per person and definitely worth it. Those with an EBT card and ID, admission is only $1.

The place is going through a major renovation - which for someone who has enjoyed the gardens for over 50 years is kind of disappointing. Maybe when the changes are done it will be exciting and new and I'll love it again. This past weekend's visit was mostly like visiting a construction zone though and not that impressive. Would recommend not visiting for awhile until its settled down.

Kingwood is an absolutely beautiful place to visit on a nice day. The grounds are well kept and beautifully landscaped. We visited again yesterday and it was just perfect. It is a good place to take photos, go for a walk, get ideas for flowers, or simply lay in the sun and read. It is $5 per car to enter. It is one of my favorites places to visit on a summer day.

$5 a car was high . Now its per person. Just to look at old flower beds. we use go when it was free. kid would watch ducks and run off energy. it not worth money,

Visited here on several occasions with my friends Commissioner Ed Olson and his wife Pat. Especially delightful around Thanksgiving/Christmas. Fabulous gardens in all seasons. Mansfield should be, and is proud of this place

$5 per car gets you in; a great value! For a small area (47 acres) there is a lot packed in. Several fountains and sculptures are in the area's many flower gardens. Trees shade much of the grounds. We easily were walking the grounds over two and a half hours - and could have devoted another couple hours. We left some items for another visit.
Make sure to check-out the greenhouse. We almost passed it by because it is listed with the gift shop on the map. Cacti and other succulents are inside for viewing.
The attendant at the entrance (not busy at all) was very chatty and informative. She let us know there was a peacock, peahen and two chicks wandering the grounds. We almost missed the peacock - seeing him as we were walking toward the car, thinking we were done. At least twenty minutes later we made it to the car.
The Hall is only open for tours on Saturdays. We'd have known this if we had checked the web site prior to visiting.

I was here after a rain storm, late in the day, and during the week, so not many people were around which made it an enjoyable visit. Gardens are all outdoors and very lovely. Even in late Fall when I visited, there was a lot of color in the blooming plants. Sorry I missed being able to tour the mansion as it has limited hours. Very pleasant way to spend a hour.

The mansion is impressive to look at, but somewhat lifeless inside. However, once we learned that the owner, Charles King, used this residence for mainly entertaining(he also had homes in Maine and Florida and was married and divorced twice with no children) it's appearance is more forgivable. He apparently kept it full of fresh flowers when he was there, which would infuse life and even had a flower preparation room. Mr King did not inherit his wealth, he was self made. The tour was self guided and our information was gained by the welcoming person. On Saturdays, there are guided tours. Having said all that, for $5 , this place is a gem. The gardens were designed around a swimming pool, which no longer exists but must have been spectacular. The owner definitely loved plants, as the grounds are crammed full of many different perennials. Annuals and tropical are abundant as well. We toured the mansion, it's immediate garden, and then worked our way down to the pool (not swimming). Fantastic! We spent 2 hrs there.

You won't be disappointed when you visit. There is something for very age for up to enjoy. It is handicapped friendly and you can wander the grounds and explore in the green houses. The manor house has limited hours, and there is a fee to enter the grounds, but very affordable at $5 per car. Be sure to check their website to be sure you visit when the blossoms are their most beautiful!

We visited our family in Mansfield and they took us to Kingwood Center. The only cost was a small fee for parking. There is a mansion inside that belonged to Mr. King that can be toured. The landscape was beautiful although our family said that mid summer is when everything is in full bloom and looks even better. They have greenhouses and there are some plants and flowers available for purchase. If we didn't have a packed car and an 8 hour drive, we would have definitely bought some of the unique plants they had for sale. It was a nice, relaxing place to visit.

We drove over from Akron to visit Kingwood. Hate to say this, but the gardens are much better than Stan Hywet. Did not get into the house. The fee was only $5 for parking the car and walking the grounds. Well worth the drive.

House and grounds are beautiful. Everything is done very well. The Making Scents exhibit was there and was very interesting and interactive. Lunch at the cafe was a treat.

this is a beautiful place to walk around, to enjoy all the flowers, so peaceful, so quiet, a place where you find time to relax

This is a local attraction for me, and I have visited many times. The gardens and grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. However, the man who left this land and home to the community, stated that he wanted it to always be free for people of all socioeconomic status to enjoy. That hasn’t been true for many years now. First they charged $5 per car, now they charge $5 a head. I no longer go to the Violet Show because my husband and I refuse to pay $10 to park. It’s a shame. I know other plant friends who feel the same way.

If you're one that enjoys Christmas displays, this is for you. Incredible decorations and wonderful Holiday displays. A great time!

Stop by when open to see the floral gardens. If lucky you will be there on a day when the big house is open to tour as well. The house has a fantastic library to use. Tour at the holidays if at all possible to see fabulous trees in all sorts of regalia. My favorite thing is to tour the greenhouse and feed the ducks. Many eat right out of your hand.

As a local and lover of the city of Mansfield, this treasure offers first class gardens, buildings, and knowledgeable people! Visiting Kingwood and walking around the grounds, touring the "big house" and viewing the vintage water fountains, statues, older plants and trees ALWAYS brings me comfort and peace, no matter the season. Truly a place of beauty unlike any other...

In the hustle and bustle of a busy city like Mansfield, Ohio, one is always in need of a sanctuary of sorts. Kingwood Center is the place to go to relax, enjoy beautiful plants, flowers, trees, and wonderful landscaping! This is a terrific lunch spot or, if you have more time, it is well worth a casual. peaceful walk.

My son, 23 and I went to Kingwood Gardens for the Pumpkin Glow Event. As always Kingwood was beautiful, but the pumpkins & carvings were amazing! Such a fun fall event. Also, there was an area with fun activities for the kiddos. All ages will enjoy this. Go early & walk thru before dark, but you must see the pumpkins aglow after dark...so go back through again! Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Since the candles are lit with candles real windy weather can affect the experience. Most pumpkins are outside but make sure to visit the pumpkin displays in the greenhouse. Take your camera. Well ran event.

We've been privileged to be able to come here many times. The greenery changes with the seasons. Good sales can be found at change of season in the garden center. Now with paying to park it's not a bad idea to carpool. Avoid prom and June wedding weekends. The mansion is always decorated for Christmas

Absolutely amazing. We loved the tour of the house. The house hostess had so many great stories (some personal) about Mr. King. Even though it was fall and most of the flowers had gone, the grounds were still beautiful. Don’t skip the greenhouse - you will find lots of beautiful plants/cactus in there that are huge!

One of the nicest places to walk around. Quiet, peaceful and well maintained. Lots of unusual plants. Great succulent greenhouse!

Updating the grounds has changed the experience immensely. Various summer lawn concerts, improved outdoor settings and large variety of flowers abound.

I am so fortunate to live very near to Kingwood Gardens. I have been there many, many times and have never been disappointed. I especially love it now that I can have lunch with a friend after visiting the gardens, the greenhouse, or the beautiful estate. I became a member the past two years, and especially enjoy Kingwood at Christmas. I’m very anxious to go back again this year and to visit the gardens and the estate when it’s decorated for Christmas! I also enjoy shopping at the gift shop and for plants. We are so fortunate to have Kingwood within reach.

I grew up visiting kingwood center with my family. Its a great place to watch the seasons change and to buy plants for my own garden. I'm not thrilled about the newer charge for parking, since it used to be free and seems odd for a benefactor property. It is still on my list of places to take my kids and out of town guests.

Recommended by another couple staying at the Winfield Inn in Ashland, my husband and I spent one afternoon exploring the beautiful gardens. It was peaceful, well-maintained and had a beautiful assortment of plantings. While it can't be compared to the Biltmore gardens in NC, we couldn't believe it was only $5/car to get in, and we were given a voucher for the same amount to spend in their garden shop. It was very nice, and all in all a very relaxing and delightful experience.

Enjoy the hundreds of seasonal flower beds while taking a serene walk in the shadows of one of Mansfield's most iconic homes...the Kingwood mansion. Freely drift along one of nature's hiking trails while enjoying plant and wildlife, including peacocks, ducks, and perhaps the occasional swan. Frequent plant sales are available in the carriage house, and the greenhouses are a delightful escape during winter months. Tours of the mansion are also recommended, but always indulge yourself in the nature this beautiful property has to offer.

Like any conservatory, you need to visit in different seasons because it's always changing. Certainly go when the house is decorated for Christmas. Another great time to go is when they have their big garden sale (both Kingwood plants and vendors selling all types of plants and garden equipment).

This is an unknown jewel. I visited with my 83 yr old parents and my teenage daughters. Everyone enjoyed the grounds.

From the first step into the center till your last one out,you see nothing but beauty. There is a hot house to go through, and a building with interesting items to look at.

Awesome place to wander the gardens and enjoy the outdoors! Take your little ones to wander the path and find all the fairy houses!

Beautiful grounds with amseasonal plantings. A great place for family to enjoy time strolling. Lovely small orangery/greenhouse.

This place is spectacular lots of grounds to see feed the ducks beautiful flowers also the pumpkin glow is really fun . I strongly would suggest going to the pumpkin thing in the fall they keep all their flowers and everything going it's beautiful

Stopped off during a road trip to get a break from the car - we had great weather and the grounds made for a pleasant stroll. We visited the house, greenhouse, and all the open gardens. It seems there's a lot of land that is not developed and also there was a section that is under construction.

Kingwood Center will NOT BE FREE beginning April 17,2010. Good luck with that Kingwood! I understand the situation but with our economy and all being hit so bad, I don't think it is wise of them to make the fee so high. I could see $1 a car but $5 is ridiculous not the mention the pedestrian fee of $2 per person to walk in. We live close by so we usually go 3 or 4 times a month or more. We love to go and just walk around and feed the ducks, but none of that will be happening anymore. I think they will lose a lot of visitors because of this. It is a nice place to visit though. Just plan on paying to see it. I recommending seeing it but don't like the fee.
Here's the new info.:
Admission is $5 a car from April 17 to Oct. 17. Hours for admission fees are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Each pedestrian will be charged $2.
From Nov. 27 to Dec. 31, admission is free.
Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in March, November, December. Open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily April through October.

I am so thankful to live so close to so many beautiful locations! Kingwood Center is a place of beauty and tranquility! You can spend an entire day here! Walk the gardens, the greenhouses, wooded trails, view the wildlife, visit the main house, bring a picnic! Perfect for families, couples, or just spend the day alone de-stressing and taking in the wonderful sights! You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful flowers, gardens, fountains abound with resident ducks and a peacock or two. Also greenhouses with plants for sale. I purchased a hybrid coneflower for $7. If you love plants go there to check out their sales. We found a beautiful tree also but didn't have the room to bring it home. :( If you spend $25 you get your admission fee of $5 back. I was disapointed we couldn't see Kingwood Hall but the grounds were well worth the visit.

At $5/person entry this is a great deal! We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful gardens and the self-guided tour of the house. The staff was wonderful and informative. We were loaned a wheelchair for one of our party that walks with a cane. That was a nice touch. Highly recommend!

For a small $5 entry fee, Kingwood is a winner. Expansive gardens of all types. The daylilies were in full bloom and awesome! A new parking lot with an entry building and offices is under construction. Two floors of the mansion are available for self guided tours. Nice period pieces throughout. Wonderful place to spend a few hours.

Well worth the price of admission to go see gorgeous grounds and feed the ducks

Beautiful peacocks. Great place to have parties. You can rent a hall or garden space. This place have lots of summer activities and garden shows . You can buy plants from this place.
Must visit place in Mansfield, Ohio

This is one of our favorite, local pastimes! We just go out for walks, feeding ducks and geese, and visiting the mansion. The kids love to take crayons to draw pictures of nature along the way. The pumpkin glow is cool in October, and Christmas is especially nice. A membership is tour best bet!

My family purchases a season membership to this beautiful estate every year. Always something new to see and you can tell everything is taken care of with a lot of love. Tulip walkway and daylilies are our personal favorites.

Beautiful place most any season. We usually take guest there and it is enjoyed by every age. We visit at lease four or five times a year.

I lived in Mansfield, Ohio from 1974 to 2000, and have visited Kingwood Center many times. In 2014, I moved back to the area and continue to enjoy going there from time to time during the different seasons of the year. Last October, a friend of mine took pictures of my grandsons and myself in many different areas throughout Kingwood Center. The autumn colors were just as amazing as the beautiful flowers in the spring and summer. My favorites are the tulips in the spring, however they don't have nearly as many as they did some years ago. The Rose garden is also a beautiful place to visit. I can't imagine how much work it is to plant, replant, and tend to the beautiful flowers year after year. The house is amazing to visit, especially at Christmas time as it is decorated for the season. In the spring and summer the greenhouse is a special place to go and you can actually buy plants there if you are interested. All in all, Kingwood Center is a wonderful place to experience while visiting Mansfield, or to enjoy if you live in the area.

This is the most beautiful place. It is tucked away in the city. The gardens are colorful. The tulips nothing to say but WOW. Must see when in Mansfield.

Our visit was scheduled during the Lego display which was quite interesting. Flowers were transitioning from summer to fall, so there were some empty areas awaiting new plants. Due to some mobility issues some of the areas were uneven and tricky. But staying on the paved pathways proved to be easy and there were several well placed benches where one could rest when necessary.

Beautiful gardens and house with a nice cafe and gift shop. This was beautiful in the fall and I imagine it is stunning during the summer.

I've been to Kingwood a few times. It is absolutely beautiful at Christmas time with all the Christmas trees and decorations and lights. The greenhouse is wonderful! Its always a nice visit.

I have visited the Kingwood Center since i was 7 years old, I am now 22!! It's my favorite place to do photoshoots and simply enjoy all the work they put in to make it so relaxing and beautiful!

Very lovely gardens and facility. Easily accessible for handicap. African Violet show absolutely gorgeous.

I have been going to the gardens here since I was tiny and they are as good as ever for my kids. The green house and duck pond are my favorite but the flowers in the spring are amazing.

This place is so beautiful! It’s hard to describe all the different flowers & trees. King Hall is magnificent & reminiscent of times past! Who can imagine having the large kitchen on the 2nd floor of their home?
When we went we were treated to the awesome many LEGO creations, butterfly, rose, even a spider!

We were attending the Mansfield Bluegrass Jamfest when someone suggested we visit Kingwood Center Gardens. And so we did. You’ve really got to see the place in person to really appreciate the breath-taking beauty of Kingwood Center Gardens. Situated on 47 acres, it is every bit as beautiful as a botanical garden. Words cannot do justice to this historic estate-garden atmosphere. And what a deal for only $5 per adult. Garden hours, Greenhouse and Garden Shop as well as Kingwood Hall hours are April through October. This place is also the perfect place for weddings and special events. Visit their website for much more information on all that you can do in the Kingwood Center Gardens.

All of the gardens are spectacular, the house was beautiful. It was decorated for Halloween and they were very creative with the decorations. Pumpkins everywhere, scarecrows were cool, flower arrangements were so pretty. We enjoyed our walk throughout and would stop and sit at various benches and chairs spread out.

I've been too many garden centers in the country and I will have to say for the $5 that you're paying this place was very very good I've been to Longwood I've been to other gardens in the country and anyone it says this place is bad really doesn't know what they're talking about had to be negative but I was very impressed with the formal gardens I was impressed that there is even a nature trail side area. Which was really great so there was a little bit of everything for everybody highly recommend anyone going if they're in Mansfield.

I came here in August of this year to hear an Irish herbs presentation. I had fun imagining what the house once looked like, especially the pool that once was there. The gardens are beautiful and a treasure to walk around.

Loved the grounds and all the gardens. There was a peacock at the entrance and a pond with swans. It was fall and not as many flowers but enjoyed it very much.

This was our first time to Kingwood center Gardens and I definitely want to return during the daytime. The Pumpkin Glow festival was very organized and beautiful!! There was quite a crowd of people but everything flowed very well!! It was a perfect Fall evening in a perfect setting. I have never seen so many carved pumpkins!!! It was very cool!!

The grounds are beautiful. The greenhouse has displays and a place to purchase plants. I don’t think they are keeping up the mansion like they used to on the inside so I don’t recommend a tour. Bring your camera.

Kingswood Center Gardens is not to be missed, especially at the holidays. Admission at $5 is a steal to learn about Mr. King's home. Seeing it "dressed" for the holidays by clever volunteers made it all the more special. You can see that a lot of thought and creativity went into making this place shine. Don't miss the greenhouse and exhibit hall with trees decorated by local businesses and organizations.

So many varieties of plants! If you enjoy identifying, or learning to identify plants you will see so much diversity here. Most are identified with tags or name plates. Beautiful place to walk with a lover, and kids enjoy feeding the ducks at the pond. Visit the wild pond near the back of the property, too. Lots of interesting creatures hang out there. Perfect for kid's leaf or bug collection projects.

My parents and I went to see the tulips. They were lovely! And they were everywhere! I was expecting them to be all in one central area, but as you walked around the gardens, there were more at every turn! The display in front of the mansion is impressive. I now have two new favorite tulips thanks to Kingwood Center! I look forward to going back other times of the year to see the ever changing display of beautiful flowers. The only fee charged is the $5 parking fee (the mansion is an additional fee, when open for tours).

The herb sale is wonderful! And the staff is very helpful in answering questions about plantings.

Lovely grounds to stroll and just enjoy nature. Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy themselves. Wish the house and buildings had more tour options. No food available for purchase, so don't cone hungry.

Really nice treasure hidden in the middle of Mansfield, Ohio. Numerous gardens, I mean nearly 100 or so for you to walk around. Most plantings are marked to identify them with numerous benches to simply sit and take it all in. Plants are available for purchase at the greenhouse that help to keep their cost down. This entire 47acre property is maintained my mostly volunteers. Well worth the $5 per car load to park. Looking forward to our return trip when the roses are in bloom!

I have yet to visit this garden during the flower months, but I was there when the Christmas tree and light display was up. It was very impressive. In addition to the outdoor lights, numerous decorated trees were viewable indoors, and very elegantly decorated rooms were visitable in the mansion. Great way to spend an evening. Will probably return next year.

Very well done! Great place to take pictures, study plants or just go for a stroll. The kids can feed the ducks and geese at the pond and watch the peacocks strut their stuff. Pack a lunch and enjoy it at one of the many sitting areas in the various gardens.

We like to visit several times a year. My husband loves to take pictures here. We come in the spring to see bulbs in bloom and flowering trees. Summer is a great time for other flowers and bushes, along with iris and day lilies.

Kingwood is one of the nicest public gardens around. The 45+ acre estate has been in a public trust since about 1953. Over the years it has evolved into a wonderful collection of gardens that is worth a 2-3 hour visit. The mixed perennial boarder is outstanding as are the formal gardens. The remarkable part is that it is almost free. There is a $5 parking charge. If you choose to take the guided house tour, it is only $3. The house is very interesting and each guide has been truly engaging. I'm not sure why so few people outside of the immediate area seem to know about Kingwood. Spend the morning or afternoons there. Take a picnic lunch. Relax on a shaded bench. It is a must-do for gardeners.

Kingwood center for years since the 60s was meant to be free to the public. My grandmother worked at the front desk for years. I was SHOCKED to see its 10 dollars for a single adult. 5 dollars yes. 10 dollars is absolutely unacceptable!

NEVER GOT IN....that is rediculas to charge a family this to walk threw a park with flowers??
Won't go back here

The buildings are historic and really wonderful. The flowers are amazing. The tulips in the spring is my favorite time. It is nice to have a peaceful walk and check out the greenhouses. They have plant sales from time to time. Christmas is awesome. Lots of trees decorated. It is one of the true treasures of Mansfield. I am a local and I smile everytime a drive by.

It is so beautiful, We loved walking through the flowers, amazing tulips. I had been there one other time years ago, I couldnt imagine it being any different, in the fall it still offers so much for you to view.

it used to be free. Now you have to pay. Nice place to go for photos and flowers.

Beautiful to walk the grounds most any time from early spring to late fall to see all the flowers in bloom. House is open for self guided tours limited hours. Also decorated at Christmas and Halloween. You could easily spend hours here just strolling around.

The bulbs were blooming and things are just starting to turn green. We really must return to see this beautiful gardens at different times and seasons. A grand estate worth visiting.

Gorgeous flowers and great trails. Large home of the Kings to tour. Small parking fee but worth it. They change the flower beds for each growing season.

We visited during the Christmas season. What a nice gem hidden within Mansfield, Ohio. It was a great place to walk around during the evening and look at the lights and decor. It reminded me of Santa’s village back in the day during the Vietnam war. A breath of peace in the midst of chaos.

Visited last Monday in late afternoon. Many grand gardens surrounding a 1920s mansion. Wide variety of flowers, bushes and trees. Well worth a couple hour visit.

We lived in Mansfield for 40 years and always enjoyed going to Kingwood Center especially during tulip time. It's famous for that.

The gardens, ponds and fountains are all beautiful and well kept. Definitely a nice place to walk around, take in the scenes and relax.

They really upped their game this year for the Holiday decorations and outdoor lighting. As always the rooms in the house were tastefully decorated and the large tree in the entryway never fails to impress. But outdoors it was amazing. The many lighted trees of various colors on the Walk of Lights was an assault on the senses - and in a good way. Just beautiful, Only thing missing would have been Holiday music playing as many other outdoor lighting displays have - just as background music. Running out of time this year but definitely recommend you check it out next year.

Truly a fascinating local attraction, Kingwood Center is an old estate that offers a variety of experiences. From piano recitals in the main house as a child to taking my children on walks through the grounds year round, this has been a haven of quiet beauty for our family for close to 60 years. Except for the duck ponds. It definitely gets noisy around the duck ponds especially when the peacocks join in.

These gardens are absolutely beautiful. Lots of work and love have gone into planning and tending the gardens. The positives for our visit during Covid 19 is that everything but the home is outdoors, there was a food truck with delicious food near a patio with tables and chairs (and sanitizing wipes on each table), and it was first Monday so the $5 per person entrance fee was waived. The biggest negative is that most of the gardens were closed off due to extensive construction. (Once finished, the Gardens will be even better.) Also it poured down rain while we were there - only nature to blame. We look forward to returning when everything is opened up.

I walked here the first time in the spring. It was the perfect time to visit and enjoy the grounds. I immediately became a member for just $40 for a year. A bargain as I can take advantage of the greenhouse discount. It's a beautiful place to view the many varieties of plants that grow in our zone each season. It's an ideal place to take a zen walk in the gardens and to listen the many water features.

I have been coming here since I was little. Excellent place for photos, many people have them taken here. Weddings are beautiful. The main house is fun to explore, lots of history there and the Christmas display is great. It's an amazing place to just walk around and take it all in. With 47 acres, there is something for everyone. They have started charging a nominal price, but its well worth it to support/preserve something so beautiful.

A unique piece of Mansfield History harking back to the glory days of the city. Great to visit at Christmas time due to their extensive decorating. Admission fee is a little pricey for what you get, but reasonable due to the upkeep required for the facility.

Traveling exhibit of giant bugs were fun to hunt for and see. Made of wood and twigs over metal framing, these were beautiful critters. My favorite was the dragonfly in a fountain with lilly pads floating around it. Fun morning

We visited on a sunny afternoon. For a nominal fee, we were able to see the beautiful mansion and the pisturesque gardens. The peacocks were a nice extra. definitely visit this place if you are in the area.

The kingwood home and gardens is a hidden gem in Mansfield,OH and make sure you stop if your in the area. The mansion was a wonderful self guided tour were you got a glimpse into a life of opulence. The grounds were simply amazing as well. The greenhouse was another area too check out while in the property. Overall I enjoyed my visit and it was a great day.

I am not a big flower person but the gardens here were absolutely beautiful. They had so many different kinds of flowers and the grounds were well maintained. I was shocked by how many volunteers worked out there. I think that is so cool. I went on a tour through the mansion and my tour guide was great. Her name was Lynn and she was also a volunteer. She was very knowledgeable about the mansion and was very upbeat. It did cost a small fee to get into the Center and an additional small fee to tour the mansion but is all for a good cause.

If I lived in Mansfield I would buy the yearly pass and come here for strolls, picnics, and to unwind. Very pretty grounds and gardens, almost no one else here on a weekday. Most of it is well kept but there was some room for improvement.
The house was very disappointing with most of it being used for offices which seems contrary to Mr King's wishes. What was open to the public had a hodge-podge of furnishings that didn't look to be authentic or even matching in many cases.
Come for the gardens, skip the house.

Been visiting here for my whole life, and must admit I liked it so much better "back in the day" before they charged to get in and when you were able to drive through and when there were a gazillion tulips each spring, but it still has its charm.

Wow - this house is "nice", but the gardens are the attraction. Most plantings are labeled and they are varied. You could spend days here if you like foliage. Minimal fee to enter, but highly recommended to visit again and again.

If you are interested in massive flower gardens and walking through wooded areas, this is the place for you. It is a nice break away from the city outside the gates. My family and I visited for about 90 minutes and enjoyed the many gardens and the mansion. We arrived shortly after opening at 10am and did not see many people on the pathways. The flowers were very nice and the layout of each garden was great.

The gardens are always so beautiful and the duck pond is always fun with a little one who wants to feed them. Great place for pictures!!

Love going there and walking around. Have been doing that for years. When i worked i would take my lunch and enjoy the flowers and critters running around.

If you are in the Mansfield Ohio area and enjoy gardening and beautiful surroundings don’t miss Kingwood Gardens! It is a hidden gem and one that should not be missed!! There is a new gift shop and café opening in the next month which I understand will add a tremendous new vibe to this magical place.

Been going here for years. So serene, clean, and well-kept up. Love seeing the peacocks, ducks, birds, and butterflies. Perfect area for picnics. Wish this place was still open to the public for FREE. And I have no idea why they charge more than $350 to come in and take special occasion photos...Therefore my wedding pics were in a backyard, oh well.

Great place to take in the early signs of Spring. Dress warm, took my lunch and enjoyed the views. Super friendly staff.

Been there several times, last was with my mom in May. Always pretty flowers and trees. Kept up nicely

Had a woderful time touring house and greenhouse with lights and decoration. Gingerbread house from contest they held and trees in another building near greenhouse I think it was old stables with theme trees from area businesses made for a fun girls night.

My wife and I were visiting the Mansfield area, and decided to check this out. We only had about 90 minutes before we had to leave for home, and that was way too little. Beautiful gardens full of flowers (even varieties that are spring blooming, and we were there in mid September), and many very interesting statues, fountains and planters everywhere. We could have EASILY spent 4 or 5 hours taking pictures. There is NO entry fee, and just a $5 charge for parking. A wonderful place to visit.

My family has been there many times and this was one of those times when only two of us went to the park.and were told thee admission price was $10.00 per person. Really shocked us of the price increase. We will be very careful when we go again as it has to be special as a car of 6 would cost $60 more than I feel it is worth.

Kingwood Center is beautiful every season of the year. There are fountains, statuary, ponds, beautiful gardens and trees, etc. Their greenhouse is also nice and every year they have plant sales, so you can buy some of the plants they grow right there at Kingwood. Took our daughter and friends here for Prom pictures this past spring, and also had my own Senior pictures done here many years ago. Watch for the resident peacocks! Well worth the visit.

Yes, there is a fee of $5 per car now. I am surprised they managed to stay open for so many years without charging a fee. Also, the house is open only on Sunday afternoons.
We paid $20 per person to walk the grounds of Middleton Place in Charleston, SC this past spring-- it was about twice the size of Kingwood, but no more beautiful. $40 compared to $5? $5 per car is a bargain.
My mother and I went over Mother's Day weekend. Walked the grounds and spent about 3 hours there. Tulips of every color and style thru out-- Have been in the past the tail end of June and it was equally beautiful.
It is a lovely, lovely place. Definitely worth it.

Kingwood is a beautiful property full of gardens and a majestic mansion. Previously the grounds were free, but now they charge only $5 per car for parking (and $1 for a tour of the mansion when available). The gardens are wonderful and very well managed, with multiple fountains and plenty of places to stop and rest or enjoy. There are even peacocks wandering the grounds. The facilities are a little sparse, with only a few vending machines for refreshment, but the restrooms are clean and available. For $1 the tour of the house is short, but interesting. Much of the house is unavailable to see, but the parts on the tour give a better image of the owner and the historic era since almost all the peices within are original. Great for garden lovers, history buffs and romantics, but children are likely to get bored quick.

The "big" house at Kingwood was awesome with the Gingerbread houses display, the decorations in the various rooms very tasteful and well done. The Christmas Tree Walk was elegant and the greenhouse entrance offered cookies and hot chocolate. Was a delight to walk the pathway after dark. It was like a fairy walk. The $5.00 for the tour was worth every penny. Congrats to all the volunteers for all their time and the beautiful decorations.

Truly an amazing place in Mansfield. Gardens, greenhouse, walking paths, pond, " big house". A place for contemplation, or a family outing. It's my favorite place in town. I go for quiet time, we visit every time the grandkids come. Minimal parking fee.

Beautiful gardens to walk through. Nice walking paths. There are some stairs but alternative walking areas that get to the same things without stairs are available. Nice restrooms across from the greenhouses in the old carriage house. Great place to take children to let them run off steam, feed the ducks, and look for the peacock. This REALLY is a place for all ages.

Pretty area it's a bit infested with photographers but like I said it's a really pretty area! It's a place to walk around enjoy the day with your family. Very scenic and the greenhouse is pretty cool.

We were stunned at the beauty of the grounds. There were flowers, greenery, art and places to stop and enjoy the sights all throughout the gardens. Bricks paths, ponds and trails wind around. Check out the gift shop. Bring your own food and drinks as there is only a vending machine near the restrooms for drinks. $5 per car fee. Definitely a wonderful place for pictures. Imagine each week or month would have other flowers in bloom. Can't wait to go back!

This used to be a nice, quiet and serene place to go for walks, smell the flowers, purchase plants and let kids feed the ducks in the pond. It isn't clean aymore, smells and now you have to pay to get in. The caretakers have really let this go down hill bad.

Beautiful at Christmas.Rooms were beautifully decorated. Moderately priced admission. Enjoyable for all ages.

The gardens and greenhouses here are just stunning. The Ribbitt Exhibit is just plain hysterical- I thought it was going to be aimed more at children, but everyone will enjoy these whimsical frogs. The mansion is nice, and if it is open you should absolutely do a quick tour, but they do use the space, and much of it has lost its original feel. It does have a fun deco floor at the entry though. The gardens here steal the show.

Absolutely beautiful in spring, summer, and fall!

Beautiful gardens for each season. Spring tulips and daffodils.. June rose gardens, Great Green houses.. landscaping, fountains, Garden Art, Aug Hybiscus, something to savor and enjoy. $5 per person includes parking. Wear good walking shoes.

Kingwood is my heaven on earth. I love going there on a Saturday morning with my coffee and sit by the pond and watch the ducks and take in the beauty all around me. The beauty of the flowers, plants and trees are breathtaking and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the serenity of nature. You can be a member for $40 a year and get in free anytime. There are special activities for members and volunteers so well worth the investment.

I am so lucky Kingwood Center is within walking distance to my home. The grounds are spectacular and always changing because of the weather. I just love the green house where you can purchase nice healthy plants to take home and enjoy. They have nicely paved walkways which are great for mobility devices to navigate. Taking outdoor pictures here is such a pleasure. I try to take all of my out of town guests here and they always appreciate it.

The gardens are beautiful and it is a wonderful place to stretch your legs. When I take my little ones we feed ducks, make wishes in the fountains, and walk on the enchanted trail.

I have been to Mansfield on several occasions and had never heard about this until a family member suggested it for a family reunion spot activity. What a pleasant surprise. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and extensive. There is a cool display of way larger-than-life insects that was fun and photogenic as well.
The manor house is worth the tour as well. We got a short introduction from the woman at the desk. We learned about more than just the house--also the history of it owner and the industry that he brought to Mansfield.
Nice gift shop as well.

Very beautiful. My wife and I have been here many times, it is a great place to walk and take pictures. We are fortunate to have a place like this in our town.

This was my first stop of a three day road trip - the peacocks surprised me - I did not know they would be here - I bought some cute fairy garden items - the gardens here are on a hill which might not be the best for some with mobility issues - I enjoyed my time here - beautiful plants and flowers - I did not tour the inside of the house, but plan on doing so my next visit!

It has beautiful grounds, to walk around, though not to large. Green house, for those who love flowers.
There's a duck pond, with feeding stations to buy corn, to feed the ducks.
Large house that used to belong to the family that donated the land to the city.
Statues, and fountains.

The grounds are beautifully laid out and you can wander to your heart's content. Almost every plant is marked, so you can look for it in the greenhouse later on if you want to purchase something. The gardens are stunning and you can easily wind your way through all of them in an afternoon. There are plenty of benches throughout the walk, but it is a bit much for those who might have trouble walking. The house is beautiful and it's a free, self-guided tour, so it only takes a little while, but it's nice to see. What a fantastic place!

My spouse and myself are members and had some issues even getting admission into the garden center. The website said that members didn’t have to buy tickets for the Christmas at Kingwood Christmas, only guests did, the white haired woman at the front desk was very rude and told us we had to buy tickets as members online, which none were available for days, and when we explained what the website said, she abruptly cut me off, turned us away, and our membership cards weren’t even looked at. After that date night being ruined for myself and my spouse, we have since left a google review with no follow up or reply. Does Kingwood center just not care about its members and more about the money? We haven’t been back since, won’t be donating to your center anymore, and have thrown away our cards because of the way we were treated. I can’t even remember the front desk attendant’s name after the way she handled herself with donating members. Don’t waste your money here.

My family has been going to Kingwood for years. The gardens are beautiful, the house is exquisite! Our most recent trip was to see the bug exhibit featured this summer. It's a great place to take the kids and adults

Family always enjoys our outings here. Great place to take photos, feed the ducks, and enjoy a picnic.

We were there for the tulips. It was gorgeous. Lovely walking paths with new vistas everywhere. So many photo opportunities. The home itself was not as well tricked out as some estates I have seen but the gardens were just wonderful. Good buy for $5 for a carload of us!
Go eat at the Athens Greek Restaurant before or after you start your garden walk...you won't regret it.

A true "diamond-in-the-rough" garden experience. Could have easily spent twice the time there to stroll every path and enter various buildings. Can't wait for return visit this Spring/Summer. Plan on relaxing and becoming stress-free.

In the spring and summer the flowers are some of the most beautiful you will see anywhere. And the mansion is great.
Very well maintained. People come from all over to see Kingwood.

These beautiful gardens are first rate! The Kingwood Center Gardens is a very well kept place with a reasonable admission price. The mansion itself is very lovely with several rooms set up for public display. Enjoyed my walk on the grounds among the many varieties of flowers and plants. There are a few fountain displays on the premises. The greenhouse was very interesting with it's many plants and some plants are available for purchase. There is a snack bar area and public bathrooms. Several shaded places along the pathway are set up with tables and chairs.

If you enjoy gardens, walking, peacocks, and greenhouse plant, Kingwood Center is perfect. They do a wonderful job keeping the grounds in pristine condition. Springtime peonies, summer day lilies, and the fall mums. Plus, in December the house is decorated and they sometimes have gingerbread decorating competition. So go, and enjoy yourself.

Stopped here while in town. Not sure if it is just the time of the year or if due to the recent cold spell but there really wasn't much in bloom. Not a whole lot to see during our visit. However, the peacocks made up for the lack of color! The birds are beautiful and put on quite a show for us, they were worth the cost of entrance for me!

This place is beautiful! The only reason for 4 stars is that they are doing some construction around the property. Also I didn't see any peacocks?

It's a nice garden area in the middle of not much in terms of tourist stuff (the Reformatory is the exception that proves the rule). It's not the most expansive green area, nor is it the most extensive collection of plants, but it's a good place for a quiet walk. Parts are often closed at weekends for parties taking wedding pictures (it makes a good backdrop for such pictures).

We visited Kingwood on a Tuesday afternoon and had a delightfully wonderful time. The admission cost is only five dollars per car which is beyond reasonable. Driving to the place I never would have suspected that something so nice was hidden inside Kingwood Center. There are beautiful gardens everywhere with all types of blooming plants. Fountains and a small pond are spread throughout the walking paths and there is food available for a quarter to feed the ducks. Since we visited during a weekday there was hardly anyone there which made it extra quiet. If you're looking to sit for a while they have lots of benches spread out and I noticed a table by the beginning of the walkway if you're looking to picnic. The walking trails are clean and well taken care of.
The house was open only until two o'clock so we hurried and got to see it before it closed. The house is very large but only a small portion is open for the viewing public. The tour was self guided, however, we were informed that on the weekends they do offer a guided option. The third floor is completely closed off and houses offices for the workers. I think it's a shame to completely close off the third floor though because even if it's just empty bedrooms or offices like the lady in the house informed us, it would still be nice to allow visitors the option to see it even if just on the guided tours. However, since it did not cost extra that day to visit the home it was definitely worth stopping especially if you are a fan of historic homes like we are.
They have a greenhouse with a small gift shop and offer a wide variety of plants for sale. There are bathrooms located by the garden center and inside the home. Parking was easy and there were lots of available spots. I can't recommend this place enough especially if you love nature and historic homes. It's a perfect spot for families, couples or even a stroll by yourself.

These gardens are wonderfully maintained, and so expansive. They were beautiful. I was especially excited when I saw the peacocks that live there. It was a perfect place for a girls' day out.

this use to be a favorite place for my boys when they were growing up - we would take a light picnic lunch, walk the gardens, feed the ducks, very inexpensive day for a single mom or family on a budget. their favorite was the peacocks with their tail feathers fanned! now you have to pay to park, even just to go to the nursery/ greenhouse to get plants. my mom always liked to go and get cat grass. now when you add the parking fees it takes away from the day. i think they could make more money in otherways and leave the parking and walking paths free! very disappointed to see the parking fees! we won't go back.

Spectacular gardens hidden away in Mansfield, Ohio. Incredible array of colors from Spring through Fall. Admission is only $5.00 per car for an amazing step back in time.

I went first time with my friend from England & we were followed by a security guard the entire time on the grounds. I am handicapped & was told I had to pay to use the scooter & failed to tell me deposit would be returned. I had to fill out paperwork, give them my drivers license, do a walk around safety inspection, told I could only turn the level up to only medium, & if even one scratch was on it when I returned they would keep my $20.00 deposit. The security guard was completely overwhelming with watching us & following every step we made making us feel very uncomfortable. We went to the gift shop & they watched us like we were thieves. I will NEVER EVER go there again. We ate at the cafe, spent a fortune in the gift shop & nicely dressed older ladies. It was a day my friend will always remember how ridiculous it all was. Very embarrassing to make such a spectacle over a handicapped scooter that I wanted to melt in a hole. Just wanted to say I’ve never been treated so disrespectful in my life. Thanks a lot for making her impression of Ohio just awful. I am totally embarrassed. Made me look like an idiot. Enjoy my money Kingwood Center. You’ll never get another dime of mine. All you’re about is the MONEY!

We discovered this garden gem several years ago and try to go back at least once a year. The plantings are wonderful and we enjoy walking through the different areas of the gardens. The temperature was near 90 degrees the day we visited and there were a couple of weddings in progress so some areas were closed, but we still enjoyed our stay and bought some really nice plants from the plant store. I highly recommend this to any one who loves gardens.

The grounds are far less inspiring than in the past and it seems it has lost sight of free public access Mr. King envisioned. Change can be good but in this case it definitely is not. Seems like a wedding venue now and to hell with the public.

A friend and I met here as it was a halfway point for us to travel. The gardens were lovely - decked out for fall. We thoroughly enjoyed touring the house as well! Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful.

If you enjoy gardening or just flowers, Kingwood Gardens is like a little piece of heaven on Earth. We were here in late Spring (May) and there were multiple flowers in bloom, some had already passed, and many more were on the way. There is something always in bloom as I'm sure they planned it that way.
Take a good camera and take your time.
Enjoy

This compact, 47-acre botanical garden is a wonderful place to spend a few hours. Despite the periodic showers on a recent spring visit, we enjoyed strolling through the well-designed gardens and greenhouse and the handsome mansion of the former Charles King estate. The number of events and workshops that are offered is quite impressive.

We loved strolling through the beautiful gardens {even though it was November and many of the colorful flowers were gone}. The grounds are gorgeous and there were beautiful peacocks and swans on the premises too!

We visited on April 30, 2016 to view the tulip bulbs. Perfect timing! Most tulip beds are labeled & most at their prime. Daffodils had pretty much finished & perennials were just emerging, but we were going for the tulips. Magnolias, lilacs, flowering crabapples and azaleas were in full bloom. We were pleased! The cost is $5 per car! We plan to return in the summer to view the perennials in bloom.

It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon at Kingwood. The ribbits were whimsical and made one smile and enjoy the simple moment. The flower gardens are lovely and the garden center had some interesting items for sale. The house is beautiful and worth a peek inside.

If you travel to Mansfield Ohio please goo see the Kingwood Center. It was highly recommended to me from one of my co-workers and it is a truly magical breathtaking place. It has many beautiful flowers, gardens, shrubbery, ducks, fountains with water, gazebo, the landscaping is a wonder to see. It is calm, serene and romantic. You will not be bored as you will see by my photos!

I am a local to the Mansfield area, and I just love this place. paths off into the woods, greenhouses, the estate tours, just amazing. during christmas time it is all decorated and gorgeous, and during Halloween, the famous pumpkin glow; hundreds of carved pumpkins along the paths and porches.

Im a great nature lover so this is a must see. Dedicate the whole day. Bring your loved ones. If you are ever around, do not miss the chance to enjoy such beautiful botanical variety :)

My wife and I had our first date here over two years ago. Last month, we were married in the same place! The staff was super helpful and ensured our day went well. I really can't thank them enough!
The gardens are beyond gorgeous and a real gem for the Mansfield area. The $5 parking fee is really worth it and the year memberships are very reasonable. Be sure to visit the plant store on site, too. We get our poinsettias here every Christmas.

Perfect in Spring, Summer or Fall~ The grounds are beautifully kept, and rather a hidden gem of the area.

If you're looking for floral wonders, great photo opportunities, an old mansion, then Kingwood is for you.

A wonderful estate to visit. Flowers are changes every season and all seasons are beautiful. The cactus area is amazing. $5 to park and you can walk the grounds all day if you like. Thanks you, Mr. King for giving Mansfield this treasure.

There are all kinds of flowers and plants arranged in beautiful gardens. It dose require the ability to walk on grass and climb steps. We also toured the home and it is interesting. The upper floor will be available to the public next year.

Kingwood center is a great place. I am local and I have been there many times. There are several greenhouses, a duck pond with fish in it and the house and grounds are beautiful. It is a great place to go wander around for a couple hours but they also have some bulb sales as well as various other activities throughout the year.Definately worth a look. I have this marked as couples spot but it is fun for anyone. Very family friendly.

We agreed to take a job in Mansfield after we walked through Kingwood and fell in love with it. Now we walk these beautiful grounds every week and thank God that we don't have to drive the many miles to be there as many people do. Wheelchair visitors love it. Surely this is one of the best kept secrets of Ohio beauty. Fill your vehicle with friends and family and all of you can enter for a total of $5! We think the $50 membership is one of our best investments to help provide people from all over the world a great drink of Ohio garden beauty-plus we get free admission for a year! Plants purchased there grow amazingly well, and the expert advice for your own garden issues is free. If you haven't been there yet, you haven't seen Ohio's best! Put it on your Bucket List!
We got to see one of the mother Peacocks and her babies during our last visit. Always a wonderful place to walk, relax, learn about plants and landscaping. Bought some of their beautiful and different plants at their Greenhouse. Looking forward to walking the gardens next spring, summer and fall!
