The park is huge and has multiple things to do here from fishing to swimming they even have a wave pool my favorite thing here is taking a big lunch or some good barbecue and feed the ducks swimming in the lake it's a well-kept up facility

Kiwanis Park is an expansive park with a wide variety of facilities, including a lake with boating rentals, an indoor swimming center with a wave pool, batting cages, multiple playgrounds, beach volleyball courts, softball fields, soccer fields, and a bike trail along the canal.

Large pleasant park with enclosed lake has paved walking paths with plenty of options, bathroom facilities and a great new area for kids 10 and under. Plenty of parking available. Used by wide variety of ages and recreational users.

Very good place for children,I went there as a kid in 2001-2007 and I loved it friendly people. Some dude caught a catfish once and put it back in. Fun times

This neighborhood expansive park is not only attractive and spacious but gives visitors a tranquil yet variety of options for runners, walkers, bikers, scenery views on benches, trees, grass – I can go on, and on. My fave time is mid-day, where the park looks endless, with the Lake and Lakeshore, birds and ducks prowling, picnicking, children’s playground… just too much to encompass into words, only that you also have the ample space for solitude.

I have been using Kiwanis Park for over 30 years. The park has two parts. the southern half has softball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, swimming pool, batting cage, volleyball. The northern half has the big lake and a covered playground. Ramadas for groups, paddle boats, fishing. Lots of water fountains and a rose garden. Lots of parking. Just a great park.

Nice place to have a picnic in the winter months, out of the way, but easy to get to and has plenty of things for kids to do.

Visited here on our last day in Tempe on a Friday afternoon. Park was deserted but enjoyed a scenic walk around the lake. Park area was well maintained and can imagine it being a hive of activity on a weekend

I had a wonderful time at Kiwanis Park in Arizona! The park's natural beauty is truly captivating, and it provided the perfect backdrop for a day outdoors. Whether I was enjoying a leisurely walk around the serene lakes, or having a picnic with friends, there was a sense of tranquility and community in the air. The well-maintained facilities and friendly atmosphere made this visit memorable. Kiwanis Park is a fantastic place to unwind, I can't wait to return.

This was a spur of the moment stop on our way to Phoenix. I had read that is was a good place to see the Rosy-faced Lovebird. We were not disappointed. It took no time at all to spot one in one of the palm trees near the lake. The park itself is very nice and I think a great place for picnics and walking.

I attended an Arbor day run at this park; great scenery with the water feature and lots of trees and a tiny bit of elevation to work those legs.

Surrounded by a wide walkway, Kiwanis Park Lake is approximately .79 of a mile around according to Map My Walk.

love this park - nice walk, nice pond - great playground areas - boats and bikes to rent, great picnic areas -- fun for the whole family

This is a beautiful park by day and a great place for a romantic walk after dinner. I meant to give it 5 stars but system would not let me. Ramadas can be reserved

Great family park! Ample parking and great to fish with the kids. Very friendly atmosphere. Clean restrooms!

This is a gem in Tempe. You can rent paddle boats, fish, watch movies for free in the summer, bike or walk around the lake, or just hang out.

It seems the only sane place to be in July in Tempe! The children have it great. They run and splash through a changing variety of water devices. Happy parents were engaged and getting wet too. It would be helpful to have more shade over the nearby picnic tables, but the place was clean, well kept and the sound system provided excitement when it sometimes sounded like a thunder storm. Worth a visit.

Came for a catfish tourney. 6 hours using liver, stink bait, worms, hotdogs, and shrimp. Nothing. Not even a bite. This lake is a joke for fishing.

Have passed it numerous times, and finally took a bike ride thru the park. You can bike ride or walk around the beautiful lake, or have a picnic lakeside and enjoy the serenity and beautiful landscaping. I will visit again soon!!

Nice place to go with the family for a walk around the lake, go fishing, picnic etc. You can also hire boats on the lake which the kids enjoy and their is also a play park for them to enjoy.

I only ever go here for evening walks but there are plenty of options to fish, enjoy water activities and have family picnics.
I have always found it to be clean, safe and well lit.

The tennis place has become rule nazis...trying to squeeze every dollar out of you in a not-friendly-to-customer way. This place used to be a great venue but I will stop playing here and bringing league matches here. If they even think you swore out loud on court, they come out to threaten to kick you out. If you reserve a court for 7pm, you're told when you arrive it's for 730p because they only reserve at 6 and 730. You can't get on court earlier, even to pay for longer, even when there are 9 courts available. I was waiting 15 mins for my team to arrive so warmed up for 3 mins on the wall and someone charged out and told me (in an accusatory tone) I have to pay. I've been giving this facility hundreds of dollars in court fees over the years. That ends tonight. I highly recommend going elsewhere. They're are free courts not far from here and the customer service is far better when dealing with strangers.

I'm quite impressed with the Phoenix area Parks. We'd been to the Kiwanis Park before with our grandson. This time we came to splash! I didn't even know that they had a splash area. It's great.
The splash area has a number of water features, all different. They even have a 'thunder storm' (which actually scared our grandson a bit, but otherwise was neat). The splash area is covered so a lot of sunscreen isn't needed. And there's a wall around it for the 'dry' (until getting splashed by a kid) adults can sit.
This is just one more part of the Park that makes it a great park.

It's communal and though I keep to the area around the lake I revel in the diversity this park draws. The ducks the paddle boats, the sounds the smells the runners, fishermen, walkers, strollers--all are welcome this is an integrated commUnity park, love it!

One of our granddaughters would be in our pool in February if we allowed it. Of course the water is freezing but she doesn't care. Kiwanis Wave Pool allowed her to get a jump on summer swimming without turning into a popsicle. Though the waves were not activated and the slide was not open during her swim, she had a great time and wasn't bugging us all day to get in our frigid backyard pool. Thanks Kiwanis!!!

A pleasant surprise to find this huge green multipurpose area amidst many housing and commercial areas. Great for walks, fishing, picnic and exercise. Very quiet in the morning for meditation too.

Kiwanis park is where I caught my first catfish (it was a very long time ago), and I still stop by every so often to reminisce about some of the old days when life was so much simpler. If you're looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tempe (or Phoenix in general), Kiwanis Park is a great place to relax, stretch out, and be you.

We took our residents here for my birthday this year and for the 4th of July as each time was peaceful and pleasant.

Lovely park for a stroll. Give this place a try if you're looking for a jogging trail, light fishing, or a place for the kids to play.

This park has so much to offer - batting cages, tennis courts, a lake, many picnic areas, walking/running paths, wave pool, and MORE!

This park has a lake that is stocked with fish, a recreation trail through the park that interconnects to the canal path, 3 playgrounds (the one on the North end is covered for shade), multiple ramadas that can reserved (with charcoal grills) sand volleyball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts, batting cages and even an indoor wave pool.
The only thing this park doesn't have is a golf course, but the Ken McDonald Public Course is on the South side of Guadalupe Rd.
Throughout the year there are several festivals and events at the park that are also family friendly.

Trails, fishing, boat rides, batting cages.....all in one place! We usually walk along the canal and visit the stables. The mounted Tempe police have their stables and often you can watch them caring for the horses. They have revamped the park, updating bathrooms, playgrounds and other facilities. All that is needed now is a splash pad....but the wave pool is right there so.....

The playground on the south end of the park is fantastic. My granddaughters had an amazing time there, and I did too. Everything was in great shape, litter free and very focused on fun for kids. Thanks Tempe!

Kiwanis Park got an upgrade last year and there’s now a fabulous new splashpad! It’s located on the north side of the park, not near the playground, just off of Baseline Road. There are some cool features, some shade, and restrooms near by. It’s one of our favorite splashpads in Phoenix!

Large park, well maintained. Lots of activities. In door pool and basketball. Soccer fields and nice picnic areas.

Most of my family goes there to walk as an exercise. The paths are clean and include curves, hills, flats and are very well illuminated, we most times go in the evenings. The kids love to feed the ducks and we occasionally rent paddle boats for them to enjoy. We also reserve the ramadas for birthday parties. The rental is inexpensive and there is electricity available.

We recently visited the Kiwanis Wave Pool for a birthday party, and the kids had lots of fun in the wave pool. However, there were a few adults including myself who did not swim that day. It was the most awful experience. It was so hot and stuffy in the sitting area. It's an indoor pool, but some outdoor circulation would have been very helpful. Sweating and stuffy is not the way to enjoy the afternoon. If this was fixed, then the rating would probably be slightly above average being that the pool is indoors in our hot Arizona weather. It was such a relief to be outdoors again in fresh air.

Great staff, service, water! We had fun and stayed longer than I planned. Very nice facility. I don't know what it is about food concessions at pools. The City could hire out for this easily. The prices were high, $6 for 2 small funnel cakes, small like the palm of my hand. Overcooked too! $4 for a small paper tray of fries. Took 20 mins for the fries after was quoted 10 mins at the time of order. Not busy at the time, and fries take maybe 3 mins to cook. It seemed the boys working it were maybe lifeguards (?).
Bottom line: go for the pool-not the food!

This park really has a wide range of amenities and facilities to do activities. There are baseball field, tennis court, sand volleyball, indoor wave poor. Two wonderful children's park. In one of its toddler park, there is a recent addition of water splash pad where kids can get splashed and soaked in the summer heat. The splash pad off course has tent shade as well. During the cooler season, its great for kayaking or or paddle boating in the town lake within the Park. Fishing is another very popular pastime at the lake as well.

Great park to walk, picnic, boat, fish and enjoy the outdoors. Lots of sports such as baseball, tennis and soccor.

Have had a few events here and always found it to be clean, spacious and accommodating. Great for picnics, outdoor games, or just getting away while not leaving town.

So many different things to play on and explore here! We mainly spent time on the playground, and the number of things to play on was just enormous. We wandered from thing to thing for well over an hour. Good stop for kids to get out some physical energy.
The one downside is that I noticed quite a bit of trash floating around - as if there had been a weekend full of birthday parties (pinata confetti??) and other visitors (wrappers, etc.) and nobody bothered to pick up after themselves.
The younger kid areas have soft squishy surface under the play equipment, while the older kid areas have sand below (we are used to bark in our neck of the woods, so just had to adjust to the idea of sand in our socks).

First when we came to Arizona we thought it is a complete desert with no greens. It took few months for us to discover this gem just few miles from our home. The park has a lake to fish and some boat rides, ramadas, grill and a good play area. This became the usual get away from home and favorite passtime for our kid. During Spring Tempe local administration plays childrens movies on the open grounds. Good fun to be around with kids.

Had a very pleasant walk in sunny Tempe around this lake.
Well kept and manageable size to walk around.

We found out by this park because of the bike ride last week. It is beautiful to walk around the water and to watch sports in the weekend. Enough places to sit.

we drop in on tennis each weekend. Also get walks in, always something going on. Softball, soccer, runners, bikers and walkers.

Our family rents the large compound Ruben Romero ramadas every year for our huge family and the kids are safe and there is the basketball court, volleyball court and steep grassy hill for the kids to slide down on when we dont rent the Jumpy House. Fun!

The park is very nice and clean, but the highlight is definitely the wave pool. Admission is relatively cheap for this nice indoor facility. The food, however, is very expensive and time consuming to obtain. Even with no lines, you can count on being quoted at least 10-minutes for your food. The staff and life-guards are all very friendly and helpful.
The wave pool itself is huge and has not been overcrowded during our visits. The waves are on for 15 minutes at a time with 15 minute breaks in between. Our two year-old had the time of his life when we visited. For those with younger kids, the facility offers life-vests for your use. They also offer single and double inner-tubes for a nominal fee. We chose to bring our own life-vest for our two-year old.
This is a nice facility to visit at least once. We have been to this facility twice and have enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

My wife and myself loved the Kiwanis Park
There were a huge lake. Wow!
Many people were fishing.
There was a bridge.
There is a playground as well.
The best part was the Kiwanis Park

My favorite part of Kiwanis Park is to sit and watch the birds and just enjoy being outside. There are green places to sit and relax, picnic areas, paddle boats, playground for the children, and much more. I enjoy bringing a picnic and spending some time here to relax and "get away" from the city.

This park is pretty much the best park I've been to in arizona. The main playground has many different structures. There's a sand pit with diggers, a small toddler area with music makers and a little climbing structure. There are swings and a zip line along with a 2 or 3 story tower that has several slides coming out of it. There is also a trail that runs the length of the park that connects to the canal trail system. All my kids [7, 4 and 1] love this park, the only way it could be better is if there was a splash pad.

we came here two weekends in a row. We photographed a memorial service and scouted the lower area where the lake is. This was a great location for the event and for many other things people woudl do on a beautigul Spring day. There are large trees, covered ramadas, rental boats, nice walkng paths and bridges connecting to other areas. I highly recommend this park for a variety of events or dates. The boats are afffordable. Parking may be tricky as it is a eresidential neighborhood.

Great , quiet, well maintained park perfect for bike ride, running, fishing or just enjoying being outside. The pool is great too. Great location in Tempe along the canal.

Nice place to bike, walk the dogs, or paddle boat around the lake. Be aware there are the occasional homeless under a tree or on the paths.

This place is just great! There are so many things to do, basketball, baseball, sprinkler park, playgrounds, zip line, beach volleyball - just to name a few! It’s a great place , my family really enjoys this park a lot!

This is a great place for family fun as long as it isn't 115 degrees. The playground is awesome with so many things to do. Lots of green space, covered eating areas, a lake to feed the ducks.

The scenery at this park is lovely! Wonderful to have the pond! Supports duck wildlife. Have seen geese & Herons! Great for family, or group outdoor events, & cook-outs. Park has tennis courts, as well.

Kiwanis park is awesome for kids. They keep the park very nice and have even added a whole new playground for kids in the middle area that is very nice! We raised our kids here and have enjoyed this park for over a decade. It is also nice in the evenings to take a spouse to just have a nice stroll in a safe and nice place.
I also run Kiwanis park sometimes because it is right next to the canal for when i want to do a longer run .. it's right there.
I highly recommend visiting this park...it's top notch and big enough to explore several times.

This is one of the best parks in the area with lots to see and do. In summer they have movie nights from the pool. It’s popular and for good reason.

This was a place of regular visit during our stay in Tempe. With huge play area, a lake, walking path along the lakes, huge ground where open air movie show happens, it has something for everyone.
It had covered picnic spots too.

I love this park. It is a mile from end to end with walking paths, small lake with rental kayaks/paddle boats, fishing, playgrounds, covered picnic area's, plenty of grass area. Area's for playing sports (tag football, soccer, etc). too. Within the park is the Kiwanis Recreational building that has tennis, a wave pool & a few other things. The city of Tempe is working on a kids splash pool for when the days warm up. The park next to a water canal which can be used for running, walking, cycling, etc. and goes for miles. This is a great place to come if looking for a place to spend the day with family or friends while enjoying a fun outdoor experience.

what I like about Kiwanis park is that it is a mile long with a big lake, boys and girls club, batting cages

Had some time to kill and found this was the perfect spot for a short walk. Once around is a mile. Paddle boats weren't open yet but lots of folks were fishing on the bank.

I used to live down the road from this park, and I absolutely love it. I got to visit it again just last week. I used to run along the canal at night (which thinking back, I wouldn't recommend now), and it was my favorite place to run. I would run alongside the lake and then up the canal, and a few miles down. It was also a fun place to relax and watch the ducks.
Visiting last week, I noticed that the water levels were low, but that would be considered unusual. This place is really fun in the "winter" months, where the air is much cooler and it's the perfect temperature to run. This park will always hold a special place in my heart.

I love to bring my dogs to this park. Everything is kept up so nicely, and it's a relaxing urban park. There's also a brand new HUGE playground in the middle of the park. Best part is that the park is open until midnight instead of 10pm like other local parks.

I visited Kiwanis Park in early morning on a July day when the temp would top out at 113F. As always, the park offered greenery and blue lake water in sharp morning light, and there was generous shade. This park has rolling hills and provides elevation for walkers and joggers in a city where we don't have many hills. The manmade lake is stocked for those wishing to take part in the Urban Fishing Program, and ducks make their home here. Picnic ramadas with tables and bbq grills are sprinkled throughout the park and available by reseravation. On weekends, Kiwanis is packed with people having parties, work get-togethers and family reunions. There's also room for tossing frisbies, and playground equipment and sports facilities are available closer to the Kiwanis Park Recreation Center at the south end of the park. Kiwanis is a joy to have in south Tempe! The parking lot is small, so best to get there early or go during the week. On weekends the streets along the park are lined with cars. Despite the parking crunch, everyone always seems to be having a good time at Kiwanis Park. Driving by it is a pleasure at any time of the day and year, especially for a winter or shoulder-season sunset or for views of the park lit up by sunbeams filtering through clouds. In summer it's just as welcoming in early morning or at sunset, but plan on sticking in the shade if you visit in the middle of the day. This park will make you vow to get out in nature more often.

Great playground for kids! So much to offer for a variety of ages and my kids had so much fun! Great stop for families.

Lived near this park for many years and walked many miles around the lake. I always felt safe ( maybe it was my German Shepherd) no matter what time of day it was. Lots of family activity on the weekends-- birthday parties, family fishing, picnics, soccer, etc. Usually very clean with no scary folks lurking around. Park was built in the early 1970's and is showing its age a little. City of Tempe is planning a revival in the near future. Great to hear because I still like this park.

We are here on vacation and had a couple hours to fill so we went to check the park out. We have 2 under age of 4 so we were looking for the playground. We parked by the baseball fields since we saw a play ground there. Is was really old and beat up. We then walked around a bit and saw the other end of the lake has another play ground. Once we drive down there it was much nicer and tons of kids playing. They also have the rentals for water and cart biking. It's close to our rental house, so I'm sure we will be back!

Kiwanis Park is a great place for all. Families, hiking couples or just exercise solos. I love to hike trails. These trails are long and take you through small lake, playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball fields and all kinds of picnic venues with grills.

Our one year grandson needed to let of a bit of steam after patiently accompanying us on various errands. We took him to the Kiwanis Park. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the park was.
There's a big shaded area with a bunch of kid's climbing things. There were kids running all around climbing and laughing. The base was quite spongy. Nice for old feet. But our grandson had a bit of trouble navigating it.
There's also a nice pond. Apparently they rent kayaks. There were some ducks (but alas, they weren't interested in pestering us for food and stayed out in the middle of the pond). Good parking.
I highly recommend the Park for a half hour or so to let kids run and play.

Just finished a well organized 5k run through this gem of a park. Would be even nicer in the summer. Great place for all ages to enjoy.

I only drove to this park because of all the positive reviews online. I immediately turned my car around as I was driving in the parking lot, tons of homeless people in tents on the edge of the park and a man in broad daylight opening car doors. I did not feel comfortable taking my kids to this park , and such a pity with decent looking play equipment. I would not take your kids to this park.

Visited twice during month long stay nearby. Nice walking paths around lake. Paddle boat rentals and fishing available. A couple of the covered picnic areas could use refurbishment. Definitely utilized by the neighborhood. There is an indoor wave pool in the park but for the life of me I can’t understand why it’s not open during the winter and only late spring and summer.

We went there for the tennis courts, but overall, for a city owned facility, it is very impressive. The courts are well maintained.

I Love this Park. Cleanest Park Ever!! From Fishing on the Lake, to the Baseball fields, to the Soccer fields, to the volleyball courts, to the playgrounds, to the picnic areas, to the batting cages, and the wavepool.... it just goes on an on!! If you just want to go sit and enjoy the views of 4 Peaks from one of the hills overlooking the Lake, this park takes you out of the city and lets you enjoy the green grass and lovely trees on an easy Escape!!! Lots of Special Events Year Round too! Very Family Oriented.

Large park with lots to do including batting cages, swimming pool with slide, and tennis courts. They also do movies in the part during the cooler months.

So much to do here, or simply have a stroll through it. Water fountains throughout, clean park, fresh breeze coming off the lake - a very pleasant morning walk!!

We had so much fun at the wave pool. We were visiting Phoenix in July, so looking for some indoor activities were a must and we decided that the wave pool would be just the place to spend our afternoon. The area around the pool was warm and the water was refreshing, but not cold. We rented 2 tubes for our children (age 13 and 11), but we didn't use them for much of the afternoon. Water is ankle deep to about 6 feet - so if you are planning on going out deep - then a tube might be required. The waves out deeper are rolling, but my 11 year old liked to stand about hip deep when the waves were on. They also had a slide which the kids could go on when the waves were not on which was also lots of fun. They have a lot of life guards on duty as well. We spent about 2 hours there for a cost of $35 (including the tubes). It was crazy busy but a lot of fun. Double check the hours they are open as I believe they go back to just weekends in August....worth checking out if you are looking for some fun.

Love this park is large and well kept has the options for paddle boats and batting cages. also on the premises is a rec center.

We came for the splash pad but the whole part is very nice. Nicely maintained and there are bathrooms available.

this park has alot, a lake for fishing, feeding docs, an indoor pool wave pool. lots of sports activities on weekends. Ramadas, with BBQs, peaceful areas to just hang out.

Open park with beautiful lake for fishing or bird watching..Children have a lot of room to run and play on the grass, or dig in the sand pits. Awesome spot for first dates, or bbq events!

Park was nearly deserted when I went (new to the area from Alberta, Canada), and was mostly peaceful, however there was loud construction (doesn't affect my rating). What DID affect my rating was the condition of the park. It was filthy. Absolutely awful, and it SMELLED. Bits of trash, empty beer cans, and most surfaces were COVERED with bird droppings. The playgrounds seemed clean from what I could see as I passed with my dog, but couldn't say for sure.

We had been down to Mill Avenue for lunch. Afterwards, we drove the short distance to the park. Beautiful day at a well manicured park. Great walking around the lake. A great place to have a picnic too.

Kiwanis Park has something for everyone--walking paths, playgrounds, paddle boats, a recreation center with a gym and wave pool, and it's gorgeous!

We were there for the classic car show, huge grassy acreage and lakes for kiddy play. Probably would avoid in summer unless you have shade or reserved pavilion. Well maintained with lots of parking. Have been there many times, and it's always a fun place.
Great park, great work out for kids!
What a great place to go to with the family! There are lots of structures kids get to play with and they are even tagged by age group, kiddos play safe. It is a rather linear playground so it is easy to keep a close eye on our precious children. There is even a zipline, a very popular attraction over there!
