There are some eye-opening Native American historical displays at this museum. Young and old alike will find information about the settling of this area of Oregon and the effect on the native people.

A visit to the Klamath County Museum will give visitors a comprehensive overview of the Klamath Basin. Well worth the admission price!

When we got to town, it was too early to check into our motel and the weather wasn't cooperating to do anything outside, so we stopped into the museum. It's pretty good sized for a small town museum and the $5 admission is reasonable. Their corner on logging and forestry is more informative than the entire World Forestry Center in Portland. There is a lot of information on the history of the local Native Americans and my boyfriend was fascinated by the blacksmith shop. The sections on local history didn't interest us as much. The museum could use some better upkeep. Several of the written cards in the displays were so worn they were difficult to read, if we were able to at all.

Has some interesting things to see. It isn't very much money. I have been there several times over the years. Check it out.

A Great overview of the early west. Actual tools, wagons, home goods of the time. Brought to us in a very understandable format.

We were spending a few days in Klamath Falls and had never been here before. The entire museum is very well done, with displays on everything pertinent to the area. Great for kids as there is an "explorer" section with taxidermied animals and facts about how and where they live, etc. Lots of pioneer artifacts and history and a big display with a timeline of the Modoc Indian War which took place nearby. The entire thing was informative and interesting! The highlight was our visit with Mae, the lady at the desk as we entered - she was an absolute delight and so friendly and down-home I didn't want to leave. Take your kids there for the afternoon, they will be enchanted!

Wonderful, very well laid out. Lots of local history.
Agriculture and Lumber made the city quite vibrant a hundred years ago!
Sad.....you won't see that now.

We found the staff to be very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. We happened to visit on a special day, the birthday of Klamath County (Oct 17)when they were giving back room tours. This was extremely interesting and gave us insight into information the museum has for the local community but may not be on display. The exhibits were well done and there were some interactive exhibits that the kids seemed to like.

There was uch a diversity of things to see and learn about this area. From the Modoc wars in the 1800's, to pushing a button and guessing which animal is making the sound you hear. Great displays of historical significance and also objects that you say "My grandmother had one of those!"
Well worth a visit.

My husband and I visited the Klamath Falls County Museum in June 2025 and enjoyed our visit thoroughly.
Starting with a very friendly reception at the front desk we continued to the large, airy main hall of the museum to learn about the Modoc war of 1783 and the Modoc way of life. Because of the number of interesting exhibit cases with photos and narratives about these subject matters, we did not have enough time to do more than scan other parts of the museum, such as the exhibit on the multiple uses of forests, depicted from the perspective of various interest groups, including hikers, loggers, hunters, campers etc. which seemed, at first glance, balanced and thought provoking.
We really appreciated that the museum was not bursting with historical relics that overwhelm the senses, but was limited to exhibits of a few themes.
We will definitely return to the museum on our next visit to Klamath Falls.

Being a student of history, I've discovered that some of the best historical museums are those curated by smaller towns proud of their history. Often times staff are local volunteers who appreciate the history of their area and want to share it with others. The Klamath County Museum is another such good find. I was amazed at the variety of exhibits and their excellent signage. I was particularly surprised and enlightened by the information on balloon bombs during WWII, one of which killed a wife and five children while on a picnic. If this is your first visit to Klamath Falls or want to brush up on your knowledge of the area, this is the place to visit.

Turns out the falls are not there anymore and the county museum is a place you can look at black and white photos of the falls.

Hadn't been to the county museum in about a year. What a change~ the exhibits were different, while hanging on to some favorites. Really inexpensive, great for 1/2 day with kids something different to do. Will go again this summer.

Amazing sandals carbon dated thousands of years old, Indian wars, frontier days, forestry, and on and on. Something for everyone.

Great little museum. Area has a lot of history and this museum has a lot to offer. Housed in the old Armory, it is a good starting
place to learn about the local area, especially about the Modoc Indian War.

A must see! Lots of great exhibits the chronicle the history of the area. In-depth exhibits for their great fire in 2012 and the Indian wars in the area. It was comfortable with clean restrooms. Very friendly staff.
I suggestion would be for them to add a few more descriptive notes in their exhibits to help one know what they are looking at. : )

It was a good local museum, I learned a lot about the area. But was appalled at the entrance price. Even for Veterans it wasn't really a deal.

If we had only visited the museum, I would give it five stars out of five for the breadth and depth of the exhibits. Natural history, indigenous Americans, recent history --- all covered in fascinating displays with opportunities for interaction.
I wish I could give even more stars, for the help I was given in finding information about a great-grandparent and his work. Ms. Pierce even brought me photocopies of images of my relative and his workplace. Her kindness and efforts will long be treasured.

First, I should say that whatever this museum's faults, it's worth visiting. The place has heart, and the area's history is worth stopping for. That said, I'm very disappointed at the quality of printed information in the section on the Modoc War--it looks like it was hastily typed up in the 1950s by someone who had little regard for historical accuracy and even less for people with dark skin. Which is a pity, because the materials themselves are priceless, and the information could be easily improved even with a hasty fact-check on Wikipedia. But the more recent installations (e.g., on forestry) are well done, the staff is friendly, the bookstore offers hard-to-find academic publications from OIT, and if you're ever lucky enough to happen by on a summer evening when there's a community event you might get to hear some local fiddlers.

We arrived at Klamath Falls and checked into the Maverick Hotel, still had a bit of time before dinner so we walked over to grab a geocache nearby which happened to be on the museum grounds. We just missed closing time, so came back after breakfast the next day. What a great museum! The building itself (Klamath Armory) was well worth the $5 to get in.

This museum has great exhibits on native Americans in Oregon, pioneer days in the area, the local forests, some classic cars and local minerals. Low entry price and a nice gift shop. Worth an hour or two if you like local color.

You will be surprised at the size and scope of the materials available for review. It will take you several hours at least to see the expansive exhibits available for your enjoyment. The exhibits are located in a former CCC constructed military building. The folks are helpful and will answer your questions. Lots of natural history info concerning the area available. Entrance fee is only $5.00 - quite reasonable. Restrooms available. Some books and materials are on site and available for sale. I was unable to digest it all in one visit and plan to return. Building heated by geo thermal well.

This was a first visit to the museum. Located in an old brick armory building, it houses Klamath's past and present of ranching, the Modoc Indian War, sheepherding, Native American artifacts, logging and lumber industry, etc. Displays are professional, well-captioned and meaningful. I found the new 'Rock Room' interesting and I'm not one to be very curious about them. The outdoor displays are interesting, too, and can be viewed at any time. Comprehensive book store with good works. Displays are changed periodically, so will return. It's a gem.

This museum touches on a lot of history that you won't find in other museums. We were surprised that there wasn't more about the local native culture. What a learning experience. Low cost, nice for a quick visit.

We went there with the kids. Such a great time! There is lots to look at, and enough to help the kids not whine the whole time! ;) Check out the forestry display!

I've been to this museum many times as a child and as an adult. The museum has added new, child-oriented section but also kept many of the long-time favorites. The museum has occasional events and days with free admission.

We visited with my grandchildren ages 9, 7 & 5. It is a small compact museum that can be explored in a couple of hours. There are exhibits ranging from petrified wooly mammoth bones, and glowing ultraviolet stones to ancient history and the regions settlement and development. There are some interactive exhibits which the children enjoyed. It was a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. The children were admitted at no charge, the entry fee is very modest at $5 and there is a military discount. The staff were helpful and friendly.

The county museum has a very well organized group of interesting exhibits including ecology, early history and Native American artifacts. This is perfect activity for a family with children.

What a delightful museum to visit! It’s packed full of local history and stories. They’ve done a great job of capturing and documenting the rich history of Klamath county. Every person we encountered in the museum was happy to share additional information on anything that sparked our interest. Fun fun fun. SO glad we visited.

What a Wonderful museum. Not too large, but certainly not small, and well curated. Wide, varied, and fascinating. Go!

It was a very enjoyable museum. Lots of neat stuff to look at. A lot of information about the local Indian wars. Learned a lot.

What a great museum. Covers the development of the area with great artifacts. Large enough to give a good understanding but small enough to not be overwhelming!
Loved the room dedicated to the musical legacy with recordings!
Rocks, Indian story/artifacts, armory, WWII, schools, farming, forestry, Air Force, Olympic gold medalist, Klamath Lake, railroad, and more.

Do not pass this museum by; it is wonderful! The history and interactive displays are great. We really enjoyed our time there and talking to the individuals who work at the museum. The four of us spent at least two hours at the museum.

the museum told the story of the area from early settler, Native Americans, cowboys and war veterans. Nice exhibition of a local artist as well.

What a nice little gem. I passed through the town a few times in the past, but always only short bathroom breaks before heading to crater lake. This year we decided to take Amtrak to Klamath Falls and visit Crater Lake again. We had a few hours to kill before our departure, and we were glad we found this place. The exhibits were amazingly great in a small town like this. Must visit!

There are many things I learned about Klamath Falls and Oregon. Things not taught in schools about the wonderful history of Oregon. Like the hardship´s of the Oregon Trail.
Many interesting display´s

The Klamath County museum may be small, but it truly packs a big punch! The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, offering a great mix of ancient history, Native American culture, and early American times. Everything felt well put together and easy to follow.
What stood out most was the staff, they were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and so knowledgeable. They made the experience even better by answering questions and sharing insights.
All around, it’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Nice displays on the Modoc War and Balloon bombs during WWII. Lots of different time periods covered from pre-European arrival up to modern times.

The museum reflects the community. It is not huge but it does a nice job of giving local history about people places and things from paleontology to WWII to the western movement of settlers.

We visit lots of small town museums and this one has lots of variety.... We would recommend it to anyone that has an hour or so... My wife liked the old time music display and liked the "Modoc War"explanations....

The Klamath County Museum was a worthwhile stop. There are many displays, some sure to capture your attention. Don't miss the room off the lobby with the audio tracks of some of the musicians who have performed here over the years.

I remember entering that building as a child with my parents to watch a boxing match or a wrestling match or a concert. Was I ever surprised when I walked through those doors. Klamath Falls has quite a long history and every corridor and room tells some part of that history, from the Native American uprisings like Captain Jack, to the gold rush era, and the sprouting timber industry. It was too much to take absorb in one day. I have every intention to visit the Klamath County Museum many more times.

Well worth the fee... a lot of great history in there and the staff was welcoming and helpful! She actually cranked up the old Victrola in the lobby and played a 1920's tune for us.

The History behind this building is awesome. Loved every part of it and it's super clean and my favorite room was where they had information on all the famous singers and orchestras they had there and the had a selection of some of these famous folks you could push a button to listen to their music. Really took you back in time.

Nice small museum which was interesting and informative. I especially liked the history about the Modoc Indians.

Stopped by for a look on a quiet Saturday. We paid $5 each to get in. There were probably about 8-10 other visitors at the time. The museum is located inside the old national guard armory building. A part of the old floor still exists which is cool, as well as the stage area. There is a room designated to showcase posters and items from the many performances that once played on the stage. There is also a neat fossil exhibit that I think is fairly new. The majority of the museum displays relate to local area history and are fun to wander through. I recommend it as a nice way to spend an hour or two after having lunch at one of the local restaurants.

Very extensive for a small town. Friendly staff. Cool washing machine collection. Would recommend it

This museum is well worth a visit. It covers the natural history of the area, the Modoc
War, and some of the social history of the area. There is also a small but fascinating rock collection. There is limited free parking in the rear. Restrooms are clean. There is a nice shop. The trolley tour of Klamath Falls stops in front of this museum.

There are a lot of programs offered to experience and acquaint yourself with many different aspects of Klamath County. There have been walks on various trails, I personally attended 2 different ceremonies at the Fort Klamath Museum having to do with the Modoc war. Sight seeing and walks which include Linkville Cemetery where people in the county learn about people of the past and actually act out their character at cemetery sights. I have done that twice. My husband and I rode with a gentleman by the name if Ron Loveness that gives you history from one sight to another.

My husband and I had a surprise weekend gateway to Klamath Falls and we enjoyed this museum so much. We always love finding out more about places history and this museum did just that. They have very neat and unique displays and local artist work that is unique. This museum is a must see we enjoyed our visit.

I visited the museum after a tour of the town led by Todd, the director. It is chock full of all manner of history: human, natural history, even cool glow in the dark rocks. Their displays on the Modoc War were quite instructive. And I’d never heard of the Japanese sending balloons carrying explosives until I saw the display in the K Falls museum. I wish I’d had more time here!

You wouldn't believe the washing machine collection up on the balconies overlooking the museum, which itself is a splendid deco building. Exceptional standing and rotating exhibits with a massive library. This museum does a great job, and has an incredible outreach program that brings in support from all over the county. But the washing machines - you just won't believe it.

The Klamath County Museum has excellent historical displays, and it is good for families. If you go to Klamath, however, you must go to Favell Museum, which has truly astonishing collections of Native American and Indian artifacts from around the world. Some items are more than 13,000 years old, and they include arrowheads, knives, stone tools, clothing, beadwork, basketry, and pottery. In addition, the museum showcases art from famous contemporary western artists.

We didn´t plan to come here, but since the weather was so bad we paid it a visit and were not disappointed. There is an excellent exhibition about animals living in the region, how Indian tipis are built and a touching record of the local Indian wars.

My children, wife, & I very much enjoyed the seeing the vastness of the exhibits. I never realized B.B. King performed in (the NOW Museum) Klamath Falls.

Great place to visit and learn about Klamath falls and area around it. The plants around the museum are all native plants and give you a good feel for what is native around here and planting ideas. The director Tom is very nice and help and has tons of interesting information about the plants and museum.

There have obviously been very creative curators overseeing this museum. The displays span the history of Klamath County. Very well done

This is a hidden gem! My son took me on Fathers Day, at my request. I had enjoyed my previous visit so much, I wanted to share it with him. There are displays of the oldest sandels in North America that are around 9,000 years old. History of the area's natives and settlers is well done. Everyone who is in the area should take advantage of this wonderful museum. (submitted for my husband and son)

I was amazed a the extent of this museum. My friend and I spent several hours there and did not see it all. Many fascinating exhibits. A record of history dating back thousands of years, through to contemporary times. Much has happened in this region, and much effort has gone into chronicling it here. An entertaining and educational way to spend an afternoon in Klamath Falls!

Totally interesting collection of local history and artifacts. Very interactive and very engaging. I was pleasantly surprised by the displays. A few favorites were the collections of arrowheads, the stuffed cougar, a very cool display of rocks minerals and gems, overall there's something for everyone.

We live 30 mins away and had never been to the museum. Shame on us. We especially loved the old maps on the walls, the WWII Japanese balloons display, and the vintage fire dept photos and objects. Excellent assortment of historic books for sale.

Tremendous walk through time, from ancient periods, amazing early civilization by Native Peoples, thru today. The Rock Room is extensive. I was especially taken with the room honoring WWII military and showcasing all the Big Bands that came and played at the Armory (from Lawrence Welk to Duke Ellington to Glenn Miller.

great for family or friends or just a weekend Myspace good for vacation good place to visit while waiting for any occasion just to get out with family or friends to make some memories take some photos stop on by

Really nice local museum with a diverse collection that surprised us. We really enjoyed it. Go see for yourself! Very friendly staff as well.

This museum is chock full of fascinating things to see, beginning with the building itself, which once was the armory. The exhibits range from vintage cars to gems to local luminaries to, of course, the Modoc War. In other words, something for everyone, and not just history. Plan to spend some time here, or come back again and again. Well-stocked gift shop and very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff on entry, and was reasonably priced. Inside there is so much of interest for all ages. A host of famous singers performed here in the fifties. All details of them on display, plus their sounds and you can listen to them, and we did.Display cabinets of artefacts and reading material of the Indian wars. Some Information on WW11. A vintage mustang car, stagecoach wagon, A small display of a school room, complete with teacher and pupils. Vintage fruit machines, stones, blacksmith shop. So much more than I have already mentioned. Don’t miss it if you are in the area.

This is a great museum to take the kids to. You can tell that the folks who work the museum really care about what they are doing. There are fun (and touchable) things for the kids that are also educational and there is a large variety of history to take in.

We had an hour to spend here - and had a GREAT time. Staff were friendly and informative, the ex-National Guard Armory that houses the museum is wonderful, and there's enough "stuff" in here to keep you busy for 'most of a day. Lots of historical items, excellent presentation of the Modoc (Captain Jack) wars, BEAUTIFUL presentation of the "use v. preservation" of the forest issue, the biggest collection of washing machines I've ever seen, a "Main Street" of offices, store, etc. - I could go on and on. Don't miss it!

The museum is very well organized, clean, and the displays were so well put together that I thought I was in a much bigger museum. I learned a lot from the WWII exhibit. The research and displays were engaging and informative. I also enjoyed the tribute to the Armory and the musicians who had played shows at the Armory. The outdoor displays especially the Klamath River on the side walk leading to the front door was cool.
We had a great morning at the museum. The price is so reasonable, and the staff was helpful and informative.
Thank you.

I Love this museum! Lots of amazing history here, and plenty to learn. Great family or school activity!

Great location to view Klamath Basin artifacts and learn about the area.Had family from out of town visiting so took them to museum to show them some of the history of the area.

This is a huge museum. It used to be an old armory. It has lots of exhibits on old early 20th century cars, American Indians, gems & minerals, forest information, and pioneer exhibits. It will take a while to go through if you take your time.

Very nice museum. Native American exhibits, through western /pioneer/homesteading history, war years. Outside exhibits also. Has a cabin outside. There is a trolley that departs from here and tours through downtown in the summer.

Good displays, enthusiastic docent. Klamath Falls has an interesting history, going back to the days of Fort Klamath, established in 1863.

This is a well -put together museum. The history of the area is extensive and the displays are well done. They are creative and engaging for any age. The artifacts are displayed very well and are quite old. We spent just over and hour here.

Our shuttle driver from the Running Y Ranch recommended this museum to us as a “must see” while visiting downtown Klamath Falls. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring this museum. While housed in not a very large building, we found the exhibits to be very well laid out and interesting. Allow yourself about an hour or so to view all the displays.

Excellent day trip from Medford! Lived in Medford 40 years and this was my first time to the museum. Always heard great things about the museum. Decided to just go. Glad I did, plan on 2 hours, I was there 3 hours. Senior discount, and very reasonable enters fee. parking just outside the enterance.
Great Solo, Family young & teens and yes a great place to take tourists and business

Went to see the Model Train exhibit and spent an additional 2 hours seeing all the exhibits. A worthwhile place to go and be educated on the Klamath County history, people and events that helped to shape the County.

The history of this museum starts from the outside because of the building that it is in! The armory if the walls could talk just with that alone is magnificent beautiful building. The displays are set up very well, it has a lot of local & regional history waiting for you to see and learn. The staff was fabulous gave us great advice on where to go for dinner and they were kind enough to give us a pass to come back the next day to finish seeing everything inside the museum. Do not pass up the opportunity to go to this museum. Everything for young children dinosaur bones to wildlife all set up inside the museum.

The museum is a must see and the people are very nice. The staff are very helpful and of course-knowledgable !

Hidden gem. We stumbled in looking for a break from the heat. Including the geological, archeological and anthropological history of the area, this museum presents local history in an interesting and engaging way. Don’t miss the fractured quilt or the enormous oil paining of the crucifixion hidden away in a side hallway! Definite steal for $5.

This museum is packed with so much information. The history of the local area is rich, and they do an amazing job of explaining it. The displays are truly engaging . Great for kids!

I took a small group of local students to the museum to do the scavenger hunt they provide. The students really enjoyed it! There are plenty of interesting exhibits and a ton of information on a variety of locals. A worthwhile visit, to be sure.

My husband and I visited the museum to see if we could find information regarding some of his family members. The staff at the museum was friendly and helpful and will search for information for us (for a reasonable price). The displays of washing machines was unusual and interesting! I also enjoyed the medical display showing a sanatorium from days past. We spent around 1.5 hours there and recommend it for those interested in the history of the area and smaller, charming museums.

The old armory makes a fascinating location for a wide variety of artifacts and objects that help tell the story of the area. Especially enjoyed the rock room with geological lore, the brief history of the Modoc Indian War, and the dioramas and history of the native peoples. I wasn’t clear on why there was an exhibit with no narrative about the local Tea Party. Also the State of Jefferson gear for sale in the gift shop showed a strong right wing bias.

It has a good display of the Modoc Indian history. It is especially helpful if you plan to visit the nearby Lava Beds National Monument, which used be a major battle ground between the Modoc India (led by Captain Jack) and the US Army.
The museum also has a good collection of crystals.

I enjoy small town museums and this one was great. The building itself is pretty, and there are exhibits for every age group. The exhibits I most enjoyed most were small and tucked away-like the actual recordings of big band, country band and early rock and roll concerts made in the building itself in the '40's and '50's-from Duke Ellington to Little Richard.
Klamath County was the site of some amazing history and there is a large display about the Modoc War. Also, WWII Japanese Balloon Bomb fragments are in a small display which I think is too small for the nearly incredible subject. Seeing the exhibit caused me to go to the actual detonation site and memorial for the people who died from one of the bombs. I didn't know there were WWII casualties in 1945 on the mainland USA.

We saw lots of different displays and ended up staying for several hours. Nature and History displays are interesting as were the science and geology information.

So many rooms! We spent a couple hours and would find more stuff all the time. Great layout. I especially liked the rock room and all the native American artifacts.

Lots to see about the community development. Great displays and historical explanations. Enjoyed the artifacts and museum pieces.

As the title says Amtrak decided to have an unscheduled 2 hour stop here on our way to Seattle. The museum concentrates on the local history and geography and I learnt about various historical facts concerning the suppression of the native peoples and Japanese WW2 balloon bombs. Definitely worth the $5 if you have time to kill. Also the sweet lady on reception uses a 125 year old till.

This is an excellent local museum, full of really interesting human stuff from ancient and recent past as well as lots on local wildlife and geology. And where else can you go and be able to say that you've stood on the same stage as Little Richard!

Wonderful museum in a lovely old historic building. Wide variety of exhibits, very well done and very interesting. Natural history, logging, minerals, local history, Native American, wartime (We especially liked the exhibit about the Japanese balloon bombs).

We enjoyed our time there. It was a limited experience due to Covid but still worthwhile. The Japanese balloon exhibit was our favorite.

It's not the Smithsonian, Chicago's Museum of Natural History or the California Academy of Sciences, but it's a great museum for a small town. Among the more unique displays is information and artifacts from the only civilians to die in the U.S. from enemy action during WWII. Out front is a wildflower garden displaying many species typically found in this area along with a early cabin. If you are a geologist or paleontologist, you won't want to miss the rock and fossil displays. There is also an art exhibit that changes regularly. To many things to mention, and great people to help you learn about it all.

Special exhibits rotate but overall a great show of Klamath County history, including logging with camps, timber industry, cultural and native American information. This also ties with the Lava Beds National Monument where the Modoc War unfolded.

This museum has done a top notch job of collecting, displaying, and explaining the local and regional history. In a region long endowed with natural resources, the museum covers geology (Klamath County makes for a great classroom), indigenous culture, timber and farming economies, and life there touched by the Modoc Indian War, World War ll, and Vietnam War. The collection and staff make a visit well worth while.

This is a nice local museum housed in a former National Guard Armory. The museum nicely documents the history of the building and the town. It also contains an interesting display of geology and minerals. Unfortunately, when we visited, the main room was closed for repair work on the roof. As a result, the $5 adult admission fee was waived.

From Rocks to Rock & Roll, there is a little bit of everything in this place. It's small enough to be easily taken in in an hour or two but there is enough detail that a person could come in and study the exhibits for hours. The building itself has a storied and busy history.

Second visit here. First with sister who lives here and this time with my 8 year old. Very impressed both times!!! Friendly volunteers and staff. Relevent, well interpreted exhibits. Excellent youth/child scavenger hunt to connect with kids!
Some exhibits are dated, and the building too. But it adds to the charm.
Staff we spoke with described plans and vision for updated interpretation and presentation. Never an easy thing on a museum budget, but you get the sense it will happen. Kuddos Klamath Falls!

We enjoy visiting, and taking our visiting guests to this interesting place of local history. The variety of exhibits is great, and the stories of Klamath Basin history are educational.

The Klamath County Museum is a real gem. For a county this size, it was truly impressive. It is housed in the old Armory building, which was worth the $5 admission fee on its own. The staff are kind, dedicated, and knowledgeable. The place was empty
on a Friday afternoon. If you are in Klamath Falls, it’s a must see.

Very beautiful place, great exhibits and best gallery is by Judith for sure don’t miss out. Parking is good

If you are ever in Klamath Falls do not miss the opportunity to visit this small, but incredibly interesting museum. Firstly, the building's history and usage over the years before it became a museum is very interesting. Secondly, it does not only have Klamath Falls history, which is very interesting to say the least, both from the native American as well as early pioneers perspective, but it also includes exhibits on the area's relationship to the land and wildlife, plus a whole section on the amazing geological features of the whole area. Additionally, the staff are super friendly, helpful and knowledgable when you have questions. This is a definite place to stop for a couple of hours to get to know the area a bit better!

Excellent displays which document and honor those who have lived in Klamath County, as well as many artifacts from the area. Descriptions at the displays are well-written. The people who have developed the museum have obviously put a lot of time, effort, and commitment into the museum. There are also interactive displays that kids would like. We really enjoyed our visit.

There was so much to see; you could spend hours here and come back for more for days and days. The Modoc War had a big part here and revealed an incident that is not generally known in history books. We loved the rock room with the florescent display; we have never seen such vivid colors like that. I think the woodland area is a great place for children. We thought of our grandkids enjoying this spot. We were very impressed with the amount of displays in this fabulous building. We know we could have perused and seen more and probably overlooked much because our time was limited. Thank you and what an amazing job put into this historical experience!

It was so nice to learn such amazing amounts of history about the town I live in! The displays were really well done and I appreciate how kind the staff was.

The displays hadn't changed at all in the past ten years and when I went in to see it last month there were changes in the works and they had a really cool new section for children that was pretty hands on. It is a smaller museum but still has very interesting things to see. When I asked about the geology room (it was gone no pretty rocks) they let me know they were working on bring it back soon as well. The best part is that you can take the trolley ride for only 1.00. It takes you through downtown Klamath Falls and tells you the history. You can get off and on the trolley as you fancy. We got off at Veteran's park and had a picnic and feed the ducks. You could also stop into to see the Baldwin Hotel and Favell Museums along the ride as well as visit the Klamath Art Gallery.

Great place to spend an hour learning some new things. This museum had an unique washing machine collection. Museum is located in an old National Guard Armory building.

The friendly docents and outstanding displays of local hero’s and history. The kids liked the jail and the animal exhibits and the school house. The scavenger hunt was great. The outdoor native plants gorgeous!

A friend and I recently visited the Klamath County Museum. We left feeling surprised and educated by the wealth of interesting artifacts and displays available. I would highly recommend a stop here for those interested in history. I particularly enjoyed the display of rocks and miners, the Native American artifacts, and the Tule Lake Japanese internment camp display.

This museum should be a "must do" for anyone visiting Klamath Falls. You'll experience a wonderful collection of historic items and exhibits relevant to the region.

Small but surprisingly varied displays. Even includes a Tea Party exhibit ( this IS Central Eastern Oregon after all ) on the water bucket brigade protests. Good First Nation artifacts. A good interlude, especially if Amtrak is 4 hours late as it was on my visit. It is right downtown near the train station.

Interesting historic building, we learned quite a bit about the history of the area and the items inside, it was nice and cool and folks were friendly, too.

The guide was pretty detailed in explaining and the location is def worth it to tour around. Great to hear the history and see in-person.

An interesting museum focused on local history. They had an excellent and education display on forestry. Children might enjoy parts of the museum.

Most interesting for me were the native American exhibits of daily life - the reed lodges, food preparation, fishing and hunting implements, clothing. Another highlight are the details of all the different saddles in their collection and the account of the Japanese incendiary balloons that made it to the mainland in WW II. So few people know about this attack on US soil. Well worth the visit.

If you are from out of town and visiting there isn't much to see in Klamath Falls at all. It is a notoriously boring town other than hunting and fishing. The Klamath County Museum is the exception to the rule.
This Museum is close to the Amtrak station and has cool displays with fake people in old time cabins, stuffed Pelicans and Mountain lions, Old wagons set up for sleeping in still. World war 1-2 weapons and clothing and gas masks etc.
I have been to worse Museums/Attractions in big cities that were 20 dollars to get in and delivered none of the above, which Klamath Museum does for free/donation basis.
A good way to kill an hour or even two if you take in each display heavily.

Sat in on a lecture about local historical sites that just happened to be going on that evening. Friendly local people.

8 yr old grand daughter decided that she likes rocks. I took her to the museum to show her the kind of rocks she kind find in the area. She got to see the rocks that glowed in the dark and black light. As a bouns we saw fossils, which she really enjoyed.

This museum seems to be geared towards Veterans of the Vietnam War and some WWII. There is also exhibits about the Modoc and Klamath Nations but I was disappointed in how the descriptions were "dumbed down" and really did not depict how the nations lived. The mineral and rock exhibit was neat and our daughter liked the black room that showed how the various minerals glowed in a black light.
The price of admission is rather inexpensive in comparison to some museums we've been to and the gift shops prices were right. I would suggest a visit to those who are interested in museums and historical buildings.

Great museum with tons of farm and agricultuaral exhibits. Central located and easy to find. Fun for the kids and adults

So, I'll admit up front I'm biased - I'm a member of the Museum's board and a long-time supporter. However, the reason I've been so involved in the museum is that it does a great job of telling the history of our community.
I've traveled all over the USA, and you'd be hard-pressed to find another museum in a town this size that does such a good job presenting local history. There are a number of reasons for that. The first, and I think most important, is that the community takes real pride in the museum. Local leaders made sure to collect and properly house the museum's materials years ago, and we have voted three times in the last decade in favor of supporting the museum with local taxes.
The second reason is that the museum staff have been working hard over the last four years to put up new exhibits and renovate old ones. If you have not visited the museum recently, it's worth your time to see what's new.
Finally, the museum is not just about static exhibits, but also about community outreach. The staff is constantly organizing activities like nature walks and history tours. If you are visiting from out of town, be sure to check out the museum's website to see what's going on.
We are very lucky to have such a great museum here in Klamath Falls - regardless if you are local or from out of town, you should stop in and check it out. You'll be glad you did.

We researched this museum on TA and found it got good reviews, so we came to visit. It was indeed very good with the history of the area, but what intrigued me the most personally was the story of local boy, Ernest Brace, who was the longest held civilian POW (8 years) and was in a cell near John McCain. I looked him up online and read more of his story. The old cars in the museum were pretty cool also. There were some displays with information on the WW2 balloon bombs, as well as displays of various local animals found in the area. We thought it was a very good museum to visit!

It was a great museum all around. Lots of great history and artifacts that showcase Klamath Falls’ history

Fantastic curration, friendly staff, & a great scavanger hunt. For a small town museum, this was a great few hours of fun (if you take your time). Anyone visiting should stop in.

An old-fashioned museum, but charming in the feeling of time travel into the historial past of this area. (And is right down the block from The Klamath Basin Brewery (aka "The Creamery"). Another perk of visiting this neat old-timey museum, full of great memories of another era.

Museum hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm. We were in Klamath during the times they are closed but I asked my group if we can leave later on Tuesday so I can come visit this place early. I did and I learned a lot of history and saw some American artifacts, dioramas and relics from Pioneer days. There were stories about the Modoc people and the war, the red balloon the Japanese released in the air across the Pacific that killed six people in the area. This incident was never published publicly as the government did not want the people to know They have exhibits and stories here about that. They claim this is the only place in the American continent where death resulted from enemy action in WWII. Admission is $5. Oh, and this is in an excellent location.

The staff is wonderful and the all the things children have to look at in the museum keeps them interested.

We enjoyed or visit. There were many different and interesting artefacts. Had the impression that it was presented more for local people than visitors. For example, features on a number of local notables but no apparent story on how and when the area was settled / developed.

Engaging and very interesting museum! Excellent displays and interactive museum. Fun for kids and adults. 1-2 hours to go through thoroughly.

We went to the two in town and were absolutely enthralled by the Bishop Hotel where many of their 60 rooms looked as though the lodgers had just stepped away. There were also rooms displayed for laundry, offices, beauty parlor, doctors office, barbers and more. The docent who gave us the tour was very informed and interested in her subject. And we loved it! It is not a good option for folks who have mobility issues as there are a LOT of stairs, however. We also visited the regular museum and learned about the Modoc Indian wars which made us go to the Lava Beds National Monument the next day to see Captain Jack's stronghold.

We went here with our 2 daughters aged 7 and 9 and had a wonderful afternoon visit. The place is very diverse, covering local history, animals and forestry, and several other topics. The pricing is extremely reasonable with discounts for military, seniors, and children under 12 get in free. As a bonus, the trolley tour boards at the museum.

This is about the receptionist lady who was working on 6-25-2018 at 4pm. I was basically lost, a visitor to the area. She went out of her way to find the apartments I was looking for. What I needed had nothing to do with her duties at the Museum but she still willingly helped me. Thank You!

The best part of this museum visit was the insightful discussions I had with the receptionist at the front desk. This museum is actually an art museum with an extensive collection of Native American artifacts artistically displayed. I would really recommend this museum as a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours if passing through Klamath Falls.

This was a great little museum with a wide variety of different exhibitions covering the history of the area and conservation of the land and animals in the region. We found the history of the Japanese wind balloon used in WW11 fascinating. The lady at the entrance was very pleasant and chatty.
Our only compliant was the large barn type room was too hot so we left slightly earlier than we would have liked. It perhaps needs some large fans to keep the air moving.
Well worth the visit.

Four of us visited the Museum one afternoon. We found the Museum most interesting with an abundance of displays. It was particularly interesting to find several perspectives on historical activities in the region of Klamath Falls. We found it compelling to see the different perspectives regarding climate, water, and forestry. The bonus was the music display that we seventy year old people could relate to.
We found the Museum Director full of knowledge and a willingness to engage our questions about the unique building and the history of the Museum itself.

Historic and interesting exhibits. Very worth spending the time to get a feel for the history and wildlife in this beautiful Klamath Basin. I recommend a visit to the museum for locals and travelers alike!

A lot of interesting facts and exhibits about the Klamath Falls area.
A few pretty cool classic cars on exhibit, too.

Alll kinds of cool stuff in here. Eclectic. Nature, old cars, an early 1900s doctors office, etc. Many huge acts played here when it was a theater. When my gal expressed disappointment that the Baldwin Hotel Museum was closed for the season, the man behind the counter promptly arranged a tour for us the next day. Talk about service! Highly recommended.

Visiting the Running Y Resort, we saw this listed as an interesting way to spend a couple of hours in Klamath Falls.
Visited on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Saw lots of unique interesting things & learned much of this area's history. Were many exhibits to learn about the history of skiing in Oregon, the oldest sandals ever, a sad history of the local Indian war, WWI and WWII - Japanese hot air ballon bombs, a new one on 75th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, some history of early county education, fire fighters, rocks and fossils, old model cars and newer information on preserving forests with info on logging and on native animals of the county. Loved listening to the old music that was performed at the armory in past years. Just lots to see and enjoy including a log cabin and spring flowers outside! And Elizabeth was sweet and helpful with info. Recommend a visit!!

This was a great place to spend an hour or two to learn about the local history of Klamath Falls and the surrounding areas.
My two teenagers had fun going through all the various exhibits and even played on the piano that was there.
Recommended!!!

I wasn't expecting much at the Klamath County Museum, since I've seen a lot of ho-hum dusty old small regional museums barely worth a visit. But the Klamath museum is quite outstanding for a museum of this sort. It's very well organized and interesting. It covers natural history of the area, as well as a very good cultural history from the Modoc indians to current times. It's good for kids as well as adults. There's a little art gallery on the side with works by local artists, and the gift shop features crafts made by local artists instead of the usual made-in-China schlock.

We stopped in and found an excellent regional museum focusing on the early pioneer times of Klamath Falls. Lots of displays leading up to modern day, really gave us a picture of what it was like there. Lovely ladies behind the counter as well!

My huband and daughter were interested in the model train display at the museum so that is what brought us in. We also had a 3 year old with us. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole museum! So much interesting history and the hands on exhibits that kids can learn from too were very neat! The manager Todd is a great asset to our community as he is filled with knowledge and very friendly. Last but not least the building itself is beautiful and it alone has a ton of history! Amazing how many famous people have passed through! Highly recommend a visit here!

Nice museum. Allowed us to learn a little about the area in a short amount of time. Had exhibits for the kids allowing them to touch something.

I only had enough time for a brief visit to the museum but I wish I could have stayed longer! The exhibits are interesting and in-depth. There's also a wide variety of artifacts to see. It's a charming space and I definitely recommend a stop if you're visiting Klamath Falls!

A large array of artifacts and local history. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. There is a nice gift shop on site. I originally visited the museum in the summer of 2016. I highly recommend visiting the museum if you are in the area!

There is a lot to see here. I love local museums that showcase a town's history. There are many things to read but you can make it a quick trip if that's what you prefer. Museum was clean and the staff friendly and helpful.

This is not a fancy museum, but lots detailed history of one of the oldest communities in Oregon. Some local that is recent, much of Native Americans and the last war with them. A lot has been taken over by the model railroad club. Todd Keppel is the manager and has found great history to put into books for 4th graders. A great place to look for old newspaper articles and details of local history.

We loved this museum! There's a few great interactive exhibits, a lovely art gallery, and cool rocks. Would recommend!

We really enjoyed our visit today to the museum. The staff were fantastic and so helpful. The displays are very well set up and the descriptions on each is great. They have really packed a lot of local history into a great museum.
I highly recommend visiting. Both young and old will really enjoy.
Our boys 8 and 10 loved the displays and the fact finding treasure hunt.

This was well worth the few bucks to get in. (even got senior discount). This is no big city museum but they had a nice diversity of exhibits, they place was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Even though it is small, as museums go, the wife and I still managed to spend over an hour in there. It was very enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone.

The manager took the time to show us around on his own accord, explained things and even opened up the vault and took us in! It was really nice to see his enthusiasm! For this I give this place a 4 instead of a three.

We enjoyed this museum very much and we were impressed by the quality of the exhibits. The displays focus on the lumber industry, white settler's experiences in day to day living, geology and ancient Indian artifacts. My family history also includes native american ancestry. We would have liked to see the museum address our country's history of the genocide of Native Americans. While there is a large display showing a raid on the local tribe in the 1870's, it doesn't quite reach the level of the atrocity that this was for the native women, children and families who suffered from this raid. There was little if no description of how desecrating this raid was for the natives. Instead, the display focuses on data and maps and names. It should be more factual from the experiences learned from this raid. It should be more descriptive of the native children and people who were killed and how the families were impacted after the raid. According to History.com, the U.S. and it's government representatives authorized over 1,500 wars and raids on Indian families. This is more than any other country in the world taken against its own indigenous peoples.

This place completely exceeded my expectations! The quality and diversity of the exhibits is excellent, and the layout of the museum itself was so impressive. Todd, the Manager, took the time to meet with my son to answer questions about his school project and having that personal connection was fantastic. He went above and beyond and you can really get a sense for how much he cares about the museum. We will definitely be returning on our next trip through Klamath Falls.

Spent 2 hours exploring different interesting exhibits - a variety of Native American and local history. I was particularly excited to see WWII subject matter, Information on Modoc war, and dated sandals found near Fort Rock. Worth checking out!

This museum exceeded expectations. The desk staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The topics the museum covered were interesting - Native American, WWII Japanese, were of particular interest. It would be nice if there was a cafe inside, but that is no reason to give it a lower rating.

Price a little High, however priceless history, I dont mind supporting a small county museum like this one, such great historic pieces there, a must see

OK, so the museum is very cute, well managed, and friendly. but, it does not stop there. They continually offer up walking tours, bus excursions, and other events to showcase different aspects of our county.

This museum is an opportunity to learn about the area just after the Civil War and how the natives in the area lived before giving up their way of life.

They had the traveling Japanese showing of the Tule Lake interment camp, wonderful exhibit, welcoming museum, lot of history from Klamath Falls past.

An excellent staff manages the Klamath Museum and provides valued experiences for visitors and local residents. I've visited the Museum as a grandparent and a concerned citizen, and all experiences have been rewarding and valuable. Kids are given a challenging, entertaining, and educational quiz to answer questions following the exhibits. Personally, I have attended meetings to discuss or learn about nurturing regional native plants or to learn about local native people's practices and history. Todd Kepple, the director, is an active and positive community member, involved with the Historical Society and other services near and wide.

We had a great time in this museum. We spent most of the morning looking around. Would recommend you include it on your list of things to do when you visit this area. Ladies at the front desk were really nice.

My husband and I came to Klamath Falls,OR from Sonoma County,CA looking for a nice little town to get away from the bigger towns. We came across "Things To Do" and stumbled upon this museum so we decided to check it out. Which was a fabulous idea! There was a really sweet woman who was working at the front desk whose name is Miriam (hopefully that name is spelt correctly) and 'man oh man' was she the most sweetest and most helpful person we've met on our whole trip. She pointed out all of the free pamphlets of more things to do around the town. My husband and I spent about an hour speaking with Miriam as she was telling us a lot of great and interesting history/information all about Klamath Falls. I would definitely recommend stopping by this museum if you are in the area.

I drug my grandkids to the Museum. They were very unsure of spending an hour there. Ages 10, 12,13and 15. They paired up and took off for different parts of the museum with the plan to meet back in an hour. After the first hour they begged to stay a second hour which we did and still didn't see everything. Something for everyone for sure! Thanks for a wonderful experience. We will be back!

Right when we walked in we were greeted with a smile and they handed my kids (9, 7, 6) scavenger hunt papers. At the end they also received a cute little gift for finishing. We absolutely loved our time there. My 6 year old asked to go back tomorrow. Very interesting the history of the city. They had some fun stuff for the kids to interact. Highly suggest if you are in the area. We drove an hour just to see it and we thought it was worth the visit to Klamath.

I thought it was very well laid out, lots of things to see about the indigenous peoples, Indian Wars, old time firefighting, old cars, WW1 and WW2. It took us a good 2 hours to wander and see everything, very fair for the price, too. It's not an "art" museum but one could see the art in the mortar and pestle creations, the 6,000 year old sandals and not to forget the basket making and fishing net creations.

Multiple exhibits are broken and they apologized for the heater being broken (it was likely about 55-60 degrees inside) but it wasn't a waste. It's small town history which I enjoyed reading about. I would've liked a better retail/store at the front.

We had stayed overnight in the area and decided to visit this local museum before leaving the area. It had a very nice display and was informative on the history of the area.
Lots of interesting local history exhibits. loved the rock collection and glow room. Fossil display was well designed for a small space. plan bout 1 - 2 hours for a visit to this place.
