Great lake, clean, fun, beautiful place to go for a swim n day at the lake

By Kyle J. Sisson |

Lake Greeson is a well cared for place by the Army Corp of Civil Engineers. The lake has nice camping spots for relatively low prices. The fishing was awesome too.

By Valorie H |

Stopped here while in the area. Very nice lake, the boats were beautiful! Was quiet as we were there off season. Grounds are well maintained. A nice place for a picnic. Great pavilion area.

By LantD |

Can't see the lake without visiting the State Park first. Very large a small boat friendly. Goo for fishing or quiet boating.

By Misti M |

We visited the lake on a Tuesday and felt like we had the whole lake to our selves. This lake is beautiful and very clean. We rented a boat at Swaha marina and our kids loved it. Great lake to spend the day.

By Texanstephanie |

I almost hate to rate it because I don’t want the word out on how wonderful this place is. We spend so much time on this beautiful lake. Rarely crowded & just beautiful!

By Josephine L |

This lake was clean, kids swimming in a marked area big enough for many to swim, camp, fish. Trees were everywhere, Close to our great cabins, "Morning View Retreat"

By Jamietravels |

Soooo remote. You need four-wheel drive to access this lake, I think. We made it ALMOST there on the unpaved roads when we simply couldn't get around a downed tree.

It was pretty, yes, but we never made it to the lake.

By BENJAMIN B |

We rented a pontoon boat from the SWAHA marina and spent about five hours cruising around the lake. It is really pretty. The lake is extremely well marked with buoys and mile markers. It's clean too.

By Rhonda F |

Beautiful clean plenty of room for boaters and jet ski riders not crowded at all. Scenic lots of inlets for fishing and swimming

By jefferys392016 |

Beach area small, picnic areas overgrown with grass but the view was beautiful. Would loved to been in a boat out in the middle.

By Denise L |

this is all they say it is... scenic, beautiful, clean. It is great for camping and boating from what we could see. There are a few basic motels and several campgrounds around the lake region so shop around. Eating options are pretty scarce in the lake and Murfreesboro area overall. Can't beat the roads and scenery though.

By Sean A |

I loved the lake, the parks, and the people. The lake was not busy at all and it was one of the cleanest I have been on.

By Billie S |

We stayed at a cabin on the lake, but we did not fish. There were lots of fishermen at the Swaha Marina, and they were celebrating their 40th year of meeting/fishing this lake. So that means they must catch fish. It seems to be connected to the Little Missouri River, and we were told there were no stumps in the water.

By CynD73 |

Very close to the motel we stayed in. The property looked very well maintained and surprisingly clean. To describe it in one word.......BEAUTIFUL!

By ConR55 |

The sunset over the lake was Breathtaking! We didn't take time to fish this trip, but will next time.

By Perry P |

For fall scenery this was gorgeous. Beautiful clear water and many pictures were taken. Nice areas for camping. The dam site was very nice with a visitors center that appeared new.

By Franny P |

No dislikes-everything was clean - staff was very pleasant - you could purchase ice at the camp office.

By Shaunijoann |

It's amazing. If you love nature and the mountains. It's a must visit. It was my favorite part of the trip.

By mdawson61 |

It is close to the diamond mine in Murfreesboro and a beautiful drive . You can catch a lot of fish right by the dam! Don't need a boat for that.

By warren h |

nice cottages, great hospitality, great fishing near national park for hiking and atv fun. The manager Jim is an excellent host he can direct you to the many things to do in the area. They also have new boats to rent and fishing guides for almost guaranteed catch of fish. The store has all of the amenities one could ask for and has very reasonable prices. Friendly people great staff it is well worth the trip.

By Teri M |

Not sure what its like on a weekend or summer but for an early spring weekday night very quiet and very few campers. We got a spot to ourselves down by the lake. The kids enjoyed playing on the playground and the husband enjoyed fishing. The only downfall is someone had cleaned their fish and left them laying. Also the dang coons opened the trashcan lid overnight and strung out the trash lol. We would definitely come back.

By fishmatlock |

great lake with big trees & nice facilities. you need to download a map of the lake to find everything.

By 11pooka11 |

A lovely, relaxing drive around a beautiful lake. Nice roads, beautiful places to take photos & a serene, relaxing place to unwind.

By delia1953 |

It's a small clean deep water lake nestled in the hills of southwest Arkansas. I grew up on this lake so I'm partial but it you are looking for a peaceful "get a way" on the water where you can still find an empty cove on the weekend, this is the place. I also like the fact that you don't have to have a huge fancy boat to enjoy the water-small boats are OK & common here. Great camping sites- the primitive ones like Laurel Creek, Rock Creek or those on point
3 or 4 are my favorite but you'll have to carry everything in & out & there are no electrical hook-ups, etc. 😎

By Natalie Preston |

Despite the fishing "holes" implanted in various parts of the lake, this lake is lacks fish. My family and I fished for four days and did not catch much. I'm very disappointed with fishing here!

By Terry S |

We weren’t able to spend too much time there. We just walked around a little. However, it’s a beautiful lake with a great marina and very nice beach for swimming. We would have loved to spend more relaxing time there if we would have had time. The water was clean and clear as was the beach.

By sweetsinclaire |

I've been coming to Lake Greeson for 30 years. It's clean, beautiful, serene and large enough to accommodate the traffic on summer weekends. Plenty of small coves for fishing or paddling, great for skiing and fishing. Camping is excellent, as are the marinas and lodging available.

By JOANRENEE |

We stayed here while visiting Crater of Diamonds. it is about 20 minutes away. Beautiful brand new hotel. Very nice and spacious rooms with kitchen. NICE PEOPLE

By imacroy |

I took time to drive through this park. It is a Corp of Engineers lake. It has a beautiful camp ground and boating facilities. The camp ground does not have sewer hook ups because the lake at high water can cover the camp ground. The shower and bathroom facilities were very clean. The campground was very clean but it was not busy during this time of year (May 13-15, 2018) But I would park my 5th wheel here and enjoy the park.

By mariewman |

Wish we had more time to spend here. Boat rentals, beautiful view, swimming holes, places to cook-out. Very clean.

By JRSharp |

There are so many experiences to choose from in and all around this area of AR. The fishing in the lake and in the Little MO River are star rated and the waters well stocked.

By bruteforcebob750 |

Lake was stunning, the fishing however was worse than I've ever experienced. VERY few spots you can bank fish saw nothing but perch and gar. Decided to try the little Missouri River after purchasing two trout stamps only to find the same two species. Will never fish here again. Talked to locals and I guess they all fish for bream (perch) really? Cost us $56 to fish for perch for three days. We tried all three river access points low water crossing and the access on the highway to Nashville never a bite on spinner bait buzz bait lizards poppers jigs and live worms waste of time

By mejayroe |

We went to crater of diamonds and ended up staying at the Sawaha Resort on Lake Greeson. Such a surprise to find such a beautiful lake so close and nice new cabins in the mountains to stay. We loved our stay, view and the food at the Dam Grill.

By Rita P |

Beautiful lake. A group of eight of us rented a pontoon for an afternoon and explored the different areas in the lake. Some went swimming and the water was great! It was a relatively quiet day as far as people being on the lake as it was during the week. We even saw an eagle while out on the water.

By EricInSEMO |

It only takes 30 minutes total to drive up to the lake, look around and back to town. Cross the bridge at the dam and drive up to the scenic outlook. That's all I did there before Crater of Diamonds opened. Its pretty and peaceful up there in the morning. Worth the scenic drive. Hope to go back to fish someday.

We rented a boat from a local marina and cruised the lake. What a beautiful place. The mountains and forest surrounding the lake makes for great scenery. We’re anxious for another trip and to try our hand at fishing.

By gmiller19532018 |

We drove around the lake and decided it would be a nice place to visit with fishing tackle on another trip!

By Elizabeth M |

I have grown up going to Lake Greeson and I love it! Beautiful lake with gorgeous wildlife. Very nice campgrounds with playgrounds for kids. Bathrooms could be a little nicer, but they will do for camping.

By EdFam |

We stayed at Cowhide Cove on Lake Greeson. It is a campground run by the Army Corps of Engineers. The lake is gorgeous. It has a wonderful swimming beach with sand so you aren't walking in slime under the water. The mens' showers were great, but the womens' showers needed new shower heads. They have places for RV's as well as tent campers. The people camping were friendly. One family even took my son water skiing with their boys. The staff was very helpful and hospitable. There is lots to do nearby. Go from there into Murfreesboro and eat at Buddy's Restaurant at least once. Their southern charm and good food will be worth the trip into town. We also went over to Crater of Diamonds for a couple days to hunt for diamonds. We didn't find anything, but it was a lot of fun! The great thing about this campsite is that it is not overcrowded. We never had to wait for a shower. The camping area where we stayed was out on a little 'finger' of land, so every camper has a view of the lake. Despite recent budget cuts, the campsite was quite well-maintained except for the womens' showerheads. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our four-night stay!

We camped for 14 days at Parker Creek area on Lake Greeson, over 4th of July. Beautiful grounds, playground, nature trail, everyone had a relaxing vacation, ages 18months to 78 years were in our group.

By hurricanethemachine |

I've been here for fishing and caught nice blue channel cat. Walleye abundant. Party boats and house boats with friendly people around. Swimming! You can obtain a metal detecting permit at the the park office and enjoy detecting the area, be sure to fallow the rules and pick up your trash.

My first time to visit Lake Greeson, I stayed at Lakeside Motel in Kirby Arkansas. My husband and kids camp but I want all the emmenities of home. Air, bathroom, bed, well I found that Lakeside had that plus so much more. It was a big room fully furnished with a full size kitchenette. There was need to bring anything except for your clothes and food. If you want to cook outside they have a grill out on the patio that you can use. If you forget anything(food, flip flops, batteries) you can find it in the store ,along with bait (minnows,&crickets). We have been going there now for seven years, they have remodeled the rooms, added a couch, and coffee table to the larger rooms. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean motel. You won`t be dissapointed.

By Daniel W |

I was here several times as a child. That was many years ago. The water was clear and as smooth as glass most of the time. Sheltered in the surrounding hills and as beautiful a place as I've seen.
I water skied then as a very young boy. Many warm memories of Lake Greeson.
I'll plan with my family to return and camp, boat and fish. Maybe ski as an older "boy" and reminisce.

By didischoe |

We went here on the recommendation of our hostess and the lake was crystal clear and beautiful. We were unable to rent a boat because we had not reserved one in advance for Labor Day weekend, however we spent a few hours swimming and enjoying the beauty of the lake.

By Cathy B |

Simply drove through the lake area - dam was very impressive. Didn't have time to fish - very clean and inviting!

By Adasha K |

Georgeous area with lots of things to do. I suggest the Swahi cabins.

By Lowell G |

If you appreciate unspoiled nature then this lake is it ! I have been coming here all my life, and when here makes me question why I even waste my time camping anywhere else. It's about a 5 hour drive from Dallas/ Ft Worth. You know it's worth a swim when you can see your feet in neck deep water !

By Regina M |

Very nice lake for camping, fishing, swimming, sking, etc. Very good for family fun. Camping sites are fixed up very nicely. Good bathroom facilities.

By WhodatSaintsgirl |

We stayed at Daisy state park two weeks ago. I am making reservations to go back in 4 weeks. Going to check out another campground, because of the reviews I have read! This is great part of Arkansas, everyone in all the lil' towns around Greeson you are very helpful & kind! Staying 7 days this time!!! Awww R&R here I come...

By KentuckyLuvnlife |

We did not stay here but went to check it out. Beautiful 😍 They had swimming, boating and camping. Not too crowded and serene.

By Charlotte W |

The area around this lake is just breathtaking! The fall colors were spectacular! Catfishing is great!

By Fouke1 |

This is the real diamond in the rough in Murfreesboro. Uncrowded, pristine waters surrounded by the pine-covered Ouachita Mts. Although a little hard to get to, its well worth the trip. Great trout fishing in the Little Missouri River below the dam along with wonderful swimming in the lake make for a memorable experience.

This lake has something for everyone plus. Fishing, camping, boating, swimming, small waterpark, dig for diamonds, I mean has it all....nice boat ramp, cabins etc. One of Arkansas nicest lakes. Very unique area. Give it a try.

By Dorshelle M |

Amazing. So many easy access points via state parks ( AK state parks are free for day use) as well as ACOE & city parks as well. Tons of lakeside camping for reasonable prices. It’s our favorite destination. No 4 wheel 🧐drive needed. We day tripped on our motorcycle to all the nearby parks and checked them all out. SO GOOD!

We love Lake Greeson and spend at least two weeks each year at Cowhide Cove. Bring the kids, your friends, or your family and have a GREAT time.

By Felicia F |

This is a beautiful lake, as most lakes are. My husband and a friend who lives near the lake fished about 3 hours and caught around 20. Not sure the type of fish but they were good eating. There is a camp ground up the hill from the boat dock. A few campers were still there in late October. There is a settlement, called Cowhide Cove, where some people live year round and others are there for short periods of time. We visited one of each category. Very peaceful while we were there. The water was calm and there were some skiers doing their thing. Very relaxing place to be.

By Greta B |

Definitely worth seeing! Good parking, clean bathrooms, and good swimming areas. The campsites looked convenient, however, we did not camp there.

By Joanne Z |

The lake was beautiful and very few boaters out on it. Felt like we had the place to ourselves. Large enough to spend the day exploring all the fingers and never get bored. Stayed at Swaha Lodge and docked for lunch - so convenient and tasted great,

I was very weary of visiting Arkansas and the drive was so long getting to Murfreesboro. Staying on the mountainside a few steps away from this beautiful view changed my mind. This lake was very nice and warm, there are crystals and beautiful rock everywhere! Planning a future trip back here because the air was clean, the sunsets were memorable and my city kids had a taste of country life. Great vacation idea when you've run out of ideas.

By Charles S |

We try and get to this lake several times a year. The water is always clean and cool, and the lake is always beautiful and plenty of things to see and do.

By jerryberry72207 |

Spent five days at Cowhide Cove campgrounds on Lake Greeson. Very nice facilities and the lake-side campsites were convenient to park our ski boat directly at the camp site! Lake Greeson has fantastic water quality, beautiful scenery, and is not over -developed. It's out of the way, so most visitors are not day use, but long term campers. Two marinas operate on the lake: Self Creek & Swaha. Both marinas were well managed with very nice and helpful staffs. We relied on the marinas for daily supplies since you're miles from civilization. We water-skied every day - great ski water. Many of the visitors we met were from Shreveport, LA and Texas. We will definitely return.

Lake Greeson is an awesome, beautiful lake surrounded by lovely mountains. Check out SWAHA Marina and cabins. People are very nice and the cabin was clean and comfortable.

By Michele C |

The lake is a beautiful deep-water lake with smooth water and great scenery. We stayed at Swaha Lodge and enjoyed three full days on the lake fishing, tubing and knee-boarding. It felt like we had the lake to ourselves because is just isn't a busy lake. We will definitely be back ... hopefully very soon!

By Rgklever |

After digging for diamonds in the morning and cooling off at the hotel, we went for a quick drive thru the park. Very pretty.

By Andrea |

Was not crowded at all nice relaxing area. Spent time wading in the water on the swimming beach and picking up interesting looking rocks. Drove around quite a bit too.

By TxCruzFamily |

We enjoyed a refreshing swim at Lake Greeson after a hot visit to the Crater of Diamonds. We went to the swimming area at Narrows Dam Recreation Area, it was okay. I'm sure there are nicer swimming areas but this was close to our cabin. The scenery is beautiful.

By C W |

We camped four nights at the new cowhide cove area. The view was beautiful and we may have caught the best weather of the spring. We didn’t want to leave!

By Douglas R |

This lake is huge and goes every where. Tried to go fishing but I was not able to go this time. Should come back.

By Naartjie1 |

Our favorite lake we visited.
It was a nice swim after digging in the dirt in the morning.
We preferred the damn side. Quieter.

By Kathy W |

Checked out this lake, camp sites are big and roomy, not squeezed close to your neighbor. Nice picnic area by the lake.

By Shanzym |

We didn't know this existed until we got to Murfreesboro but we'll definitely go back! A park ranger said they have half day fishing trips for VERY reasonable prices. And the lake itself is beautiful!

By Cremebrulee365 |

Went here as we were camping nearby. Beautiful and warm water. Swam with the family and had a good time.

By Pamela B |

Beautiful area and seemed to have a lot of family activities. I wish we would have planned to spend more time there.

By jessdean1113 |

If you love nature hikes and fishing or boating this is the best place to go. So many coves to explore, tons of things to do, great for jet skis or tubing, and fishing is great especially in spring.

By kytrailhikers |

We traveled from Kentucky to the Crater of Diamonds SP. We camped at Parker Creek campground. If you go toward the Dam, you will make a left. Follow the signs to this campground. Campsites are right on the lake and there is a small beach. They offer electric sites & there are 2 bathhouses. It was perfect for our 3 year old. The only downfall was I needed a better tent to withstand one windy night in May.... gusts came through & I thought for sure my tent poles were going to break. Staff is friendly here and the park rangers will take care of you... our bathhouse was locked & the park ranger got it unlocked despite the cleaning people saying they wouldn't open it until late May. This is a beutiful area. If you are visiting Crater of Diamonds... take 19South back to town onto 27 and then get on 301 to go to the park... much shorter route.

A must see beautiful lake in the hills of Arkansas. Our family will be making this a yearly visit. We stayed at Kirby Landing hotel and out entire family was able to rent all 12 rooms and had use of the entire facility.

By jrsmith8 |

Lake Greeson is only eight to 10 miles north of Murfreesboro, but it seems like it is in the middle of nowhere. The lake is secluded, quiet and peaceful. The water is blue and clear and just perfect for family outings.

Upon our arrival, my wife and I drove over to where the dam is located and marveled at the beautiful forest surrounding the lake. We also had the opportunity of viewing the lake from a hillside cabin for a couple of days.

I love the shape of the lake and everything else about it. Make Lake Greeson a stop the next time you are in Southwest Arkansas.

Beautiful lake and really nice area. Very clean and the people in the area are very friendly. Nice marina with a restaurant.
